Solid

By Chelsee W |

This was quite an adventure - part grocery store, part restaurant, part food court. The appetizers were delicious, if not a little small. The entrees were also great, but if you want a medium steak, prepare to be served after the rest of your party and for the steak to be rare instead.

Cool Place!

By Maya D |

Literally so amazing! I loved the gelato and they had a lot of great options for those trying new food from Italian/European culture or just coming through to shop for some Italian ingredients to make your recipes more authentic! I definitely recommend just stopping by! Prices were also really good considering the quality!

Eataly - Great Concept

By WINEandTRAVEL |

I love the Eataly concept. This is a good spot to check out, get some chow, pick up some wine, etc... esp. good if you want to pick up some gourmet treats, drinks, etc. while staying in a hotel for a while and you have a fridge. A good location, I prefer the NYC store near 23rd St, like Boston too. I'm looking forward to trying the new location near my home that recently opened in Aventura, FL. Tried a few samples of wine which was nice, some good ones. Tried a sample of the 20 Months Proscuitto Di Parma sold at the meat shop... really impressive! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Italy in Chicago

Great place to get whatever you need from Italy right to the table or to go, huge variety of products and great brands.

Eataly | Chicago

By ljw262 |

I've been to Eataly in NY and LA, so it seemed right to check out the midwest option. I'm partial to the NYC location, but my niece and nephew haven't been to any location so they took a train in from the suburbs. We had a great time b/c of our server, Derrick. They both loved him and I was impressed w/his ability to keep them engaged. Food was good-not great, but they didn't know any better because they believed anything Derrick told them :) I had pizza which is always great. Next time I need to treat them, we'll come back after calling to see if Derrick's working.

Use to be good, not anymore

By Luis C |

A place that has fallen into disrepair, the food is good, the service is friendly but careful and slow, it is a place for people who don't care about service or attention.

Great taste of Italy in Chicago

By S J |

Always come to Eataly in Chicago when visiting from California. Was in the mood for a Neapolitan pizza. Sat at the bar and chatted up the Pizzaiol (master pizza chef) Simone. Simone moved to Chicago from Italy and has been with Eataly since its opening in 2013. He makes a delectable pizza and is a wealth of knowledge about the restaurant and Italy.

Nice ambiance but not a great experience for a tourist

By buggsbonneau |

Nice ambiance, decent Italian fare. but the waiter made me look bad in front of my colleagues. Took my US colleagues out for dinner on our first face-to-face meeting since the beginning of the pandemic. Was completely embarrassed by our waiter coming to my US colleagues (not me who paid) asking about the size of the tip. Apparently in the US anything below 20% is considered having bad service. My colleagues gave additional money in cash. Completely embarrassed. The waiter should have asked the person who paid the bill and not the whole table, explained the fact and things would have been resolved quietly. Best way to ensure my evening was ruined and not interested in returning to this establishment on my next business meeting.

Bring a lot of money

By Don H |

I understand that this is a tourist trap but they take it to the extreme with the prices they charge. A small plate of pasta with a tablespoon or two of salty meat sauce for $27!?! A bottle of beer for $9,!?! sporadic service. Caveat emptor.

Girls trip to Boston - great find!

By DebbieSue1111 |

Girls trip to Boston and Trip Advisor recommended this place for lunch. What a find!! We shared a pizza and it was delicious. Then we discovered that there’s a full Italian grocery/deli and store inside! Just wonderful!!

Amazing weekday evening experience

By cicnavi |

Between the shopping and eateries you will find something you love. This was my second time there and would return as many times as I am able.

Bad service

By Camila D |

What happened to Eataly? I liked it a lot and got it SUPER badly served. We sat down and stayed for more than 15 minutes waiting for the goodwill of some waiter to serve us even the restaurant being empty. Bad service, horrible food and expensive account. I'll never come back.

Strongly recommend

By anna a |

Excellent delicious food! Large variety of available groceries varying from cans to delicatessen of Italian origin Staff needs some training when taking orders but overall very friendly

Terrible service

By Alexis D |

I stood in front of the cashier at the dessert line for 2 minutes and he completely ignored me and talking to another employee while waiting to take my order. He finally noticed me after another employee pointed out I was standing right in front. Disgusting service, please do not go here.

Arancini for two

By Katelin D |

Lovely Italian with a market selling produce surrounding it. Fresh pasta made daily and you can tell. Huge wine list and they give recommendations to pair wines with each meal which is a great touch. We had the tagliatelle ragu and the spinach ravioli with arancini to share. The Italian punch cocktail was delicious!

Nice breakfast

By Nicola Maria C |

Great place and good quality. It was a pleasure to meet Daniele, the manager who brings us in Italy and it was so nice talking.

Decent enough

By NickSFCB |

Ate in here 1 afternoon, also have outdoor seating. Shop was full and the restaurant side was somewhat, placed my order and food was ready within 10 minutes. I had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, food was good. Expensive for what you got but was convenient t for me due to location and ease of ordering and eating. Unlikely to return.

Wonderful food, like the Edellitalien

By Miriam K |

Great restaurants on the first floor. Wonderful quality and great service. There are delicacies all around. Super wine selection and a lot of wines available openly.

Nice Place To Visit

By Tyshondra B |

My first time there and that place was nice in addition, My first time going to a wine tasting . The place was nice the only problem was some of the staff came off not so friendly and snobbish in any event , The place was nice ,

Average food, loud environment

By KWa16 |

I so wanted to love this place but didn’t. I dined with my husband and two teenagers. Food was average, on par with an Italian chain restaurant. It wasn’t the culinary experience I assumed it would be. And, because they have multiple kitchens all cooking different foods, our tables’ meals came out at different times which made it awkward. Half the table was done before the other half began eating. The waiter advised us of this ahead of time but the whole experience was odd… and awkward. Sad to say, I was very disappointed by the quality.

Highly recommended!

By TrWorldTraveler |

During our stay in Chicago, we went multiple times to shop, eat and drink at Eataly. We love everything we had. Great espresso beverages and deserts at the cafe, delicious food at restaurants, amazing finds from Italy at their market. Highly recommended!

Great shop

By Kelly Cathcart |

I didn't eat here but I did shop in the store area. They have a wide variety of Italian foods, some kitchen use items, cold items, and wines. They even have a fresh bakery and that was yummy. I was able to get some packaged foods to try. I will be back and plan on eating in the restaurant portion.

A great feature at Eataly

By Ron S |

We took a mixology class. Two drinks and some great insights on how to approach drink recipes. The class was well organized, and the space comfortable. Thanks Jaime!

Casual and Delicious

By RKHughes57 |

Fun and intriguing store downstairs, great food upstairs. Superb pizza, delicious traditional Italian pastas, friendly staff. Friendly and accommodating of well-behaved two-year-old.

Italian everything

By John S |

Market with imported everything. Some of the best chocolate bars ever. I also ordered pasta to pick up. It was good - was it the bast ever? No. But it was convenient although there was a long wait.

Not a good experience.

By Craig D |

Terrible service. Fruit flies buzzing around. No smbiance. Poor food. No idea why people would ever rave about this place. It’s a family place first and foremost. I felt like I was dining at crate and barrel. I’ve had better dining experiences at the Mall of America. Will never come back.

Love this place!

By Twinsmom99 |

Eataly is always a stop we make when in the city. This time, we enjoyed coffee and pastries. We picked up cheeses and breadsticks to enjoy later. There’s always something new to find.

Casual dining

By dcbdmd1 |

I had the Sea Bass, and it was quite good. I would have liked to have had a small dinner salad with the fish.

Pizza was good

By Brr4346AD |

Ate at the restaurant and the food/pizza was very good. Service was good, the hostess wasn’t very friendly but we were seated after several minutes. Over all fair location.

5 Star Pasta

By jgfinchy |

Fresh pasta made which tasted so good, big portions too, handy as it was last second decision and despite the big queue it was worth the wait.

Not very honest.

By Jérémy P |

The prices are very high, the quality of the products is still there. They are quite friendly but the bread and olive oil they bring you at the beginning of the meal will be charged 8 dollars without asking you anything. Method of quackery.

I expected more.

By ANA K |

Eataly is a place kind of flawless. There's ready food and delicious stuff to buy, but I confess I expected more than an Eataly in a city like Chicago. I went to get some mancha coffee. I didn't have many choices. I ordered a fireplace, but it was cold, half dirty. I didn't like it.

Yum…wish We had this at home!

By maggie |

Fabulous market and restaurant. All one wishes for in a market…selection, finest quality and terrific customer service.

Great experience

By Raquel B |

Wonderful attention from Mexican Eric! Super attentive, calm and kind! Not all Eataly is like this! Caccio and pepper pasta was delicious!

Loved

By Theresa C |

Everything I was looking for! Wish I’d be able to shop in the market but there was little point since carrying groceries home on the plane would have been a pain. Grabbing pizza upstairs was great though! We got the slightly larger Naples thin crust margarita pizza and the crust was perfect. Not too crispy. We also had another of the regular pizzas and it was also good. My kale salad prior with a pecorino dressing was a nice compliment. Then a fresh cannoli from the bakery downstairs made for a perfect, easy Italian classics meal.

Great service extensive menu

By MichaelKohn1 |

This is a restaurant located on the second floor of a food market grocery store. Great service with super knowledgeable waiter. Awesome Italian food with overwhelming amount of choices.

No Halal options, no knowledgeable staff

By Si R |

I went to this place to have desserts, and I was extremely disappointed that they did not know whether their desserts were Halal or not. It's 2022; there are literally no excuses for such ignorance. The workers did not know whether the tarts and cakes contained gelatin; they had to contact their manager, who also didn't know whether gelatin was included and whether it was pork or beef. Even worse, the parking was so expensive, it costed us over 45$ to just get into that restaurant only to be disappointed with their limited options. I am never going there again.

Eataly Chicago

By Marcelo V |

I personally love eataly and particularly today the food was very Good. Order the cheese/ meat platter - must. Excellent selection of ham and cheese and the mozzarella - amazing. We ordered a funghi pasta with truffle. It was delicious. I was expecting the food with cream and it was not (for my surprise). It was a “funghi ragú” delicious The lobster with black pasta was also very good ! Pasta well cooked ! Overall very good experience

Average Sums it Up

By Larry M |

We were not overly happy with our meal at Eataly. While the food was passable, the attitude of our waiter left a lot to be desired. Maybe he was used to serving at a more prestigious restaurant, but it's not our fault that he's working at Eataly....

Not worth the immense stress: Long lines, disorganized, no seating, food mediocre at best

By CaymanFamily345 |

Beware: The most chaotic and exhausting "take out" food experience of my life. Do not go here 12-2pm. The set up and design of space does not allow for your enjoyment. Food stalls are staggered in a way that it is not easy to navigate and there is little seating for the HOARDS of people. Waited in two lines each 20+ min to order. Then wait 20+ min to get your food at each. Then furiously search for non-existent seating. If with kids, this is NOT the place for you. All that, over an hour for take out you basically have to run around and do your self. To top it off, food is mediocre, at best. Shame.

From Glitz to Ick!

By Morgan Bensky |

I returned to Eataly after a couple years of being out of the city. What I remembered of a well-ran restaurant operation is long gone. There was a 50 minute wait for dinner at 6:30pm on a Monday night. I don't mind waiting for excellent food, but the service I had during the night was simply unacceptable. While waiting to be seated, myself and my party made our way to the bar for a drink. The bar tender waited on people who arrived after us before ever asking our order. When I tried to get his attention, he ignored me and continued to serve other customers who arrived after us. After a struggle, I finally got glass of wine with a stiff pour. He really got the night off to an unpleasant start. Management should look into who was working the bar at 7pm last night, he needs to value all paying customers! When we finally got seated, the bartender delivered my boyfriend's drink directly to him at our table, and the very conveniently forgot to bring my second glass of wine. The food is lackluster and you can find the same quality of Italian food two blocks away at Quartino located at 626 N State Street. They have much friendlier staff with a better wine selection too at reasonable prices. You'll be seeing me there next week over Eataly!

A great gastronomic option

By Cláudio Oliveira |

The place is very cool, besides shopping options as a large supermarket of Italian products, there are several spaces intended for meals. The pasta is prepared on time, everything fresh and tasty. The service is very good, staff trained to serve the customers well. Take a glass of wine, you won't regret it.

Bring an extra suitcase.

By amt113 |

What a great concept. I could have stayed here for hours! So many unique things to look at, taste and purchase.

It’s an experience in eating and shopping Italian!

By Victor B |

This venue is a Cornucopia of eating Italian food and shopping for all things Italian (meat, cheese, pasta, and wine wine wine! (And many more things)! Yes it’s a bit pricy, but to have all this in one place (two levels) it’s worth the experience. Service is great! VictorB

Magical Place

By AlexanderD |

This is an amazing place. It is basically a two story Italian food court. There is inexpensive pizza and gelato on the first floor, and more upscale dining on the second. There are sections selling Italian wines and produce, as well as Italian cheeses and meats. It is an absolutely incredible concept, and we enjoyed getting gelato from there. I didn’t even know this existed until I was walking past there. Finally recommended.

Great market!

By Brenda P |

Let be the food and the market ! If you want a nice bottle of wine or a great pasta dish this is the place to stop. The selection of cheese is amazing and the bread from the bakery is great! I love stopping here when I am in Chicago ! Don’t forget to try the gelato!

This is my happy place!

By Tisha399 |

Being in Eataly is what I look forward to the most when visiting Chicago. There’s many food options and today we chose the full service restaurant upstairs. My spinach ravioli with almonds and honey was divine. Everyone loved their food and it’s a fun place to shop. Try the tiramisu!

Disappointing

By MaryBluEyes |

We have both shopped and dined at both NYC locations multiple times. Those experiences were great but the Chicago location is disappointing. It's less than half the size of the NYC locations and feels cramped. We had a hard time finding the "stations" we usually frequent like the gelato (its way in a corner on the first floor). We also love a dish on the pasta restaurant menu that isn't served here (ravioli with lemon sauce). We ended up buying and eating nothing there.

Great wines and food

By bernadette420 |

The calamari and shrimp was amazing!! Wines … so many where to start! Great place to pick up food for the grill or dinner to go!

Ideal for Any Situation!

By Shikla A |

What a friendly, family-friendly eatery! Everything we tasted was incredibly wonderful, and the amounts were enormous. We felt completely at home with the welcoming staff. An excellent place to have a relaxed supper with loved ones. Get here as soon as possible because it fills up quickly and you don't want to pass up this treasure before anything changes! I heartily suggest it to anyone searching for delicious meals in a cozy setting.

Unfortunately bad service

By Lasba |

I’m sorry to write that because I’m Italian ,but we ate at Eataly at lunch today and the service was very slow and very poor. We ordered gnocchi al pesto, arancini and pizza: the food was good (not the espresso, bad!), but the service is awful. Eataly has to improve this!

Great food dismal service

By Spw91 |

The food was a 4.5 and the service might have been a 1 at most. While I know it’s supposed to be a casual place the servers seemed to not remember I was there. Even though I was clearly visible after the hostess suggested go to the bar area since I was a single. I took a seat and it was 10 minutes to be noticed another 10 before I was asked if the other place settings could be removed. Then another 10 before water offered, another before a menu was offered. Another 10 before order was taken. Food arrived fairly promptly but then the 10 minute gaps before table was cleared, dessert menu was asked about, another before menu arrived, 10 before order taken and so on. Don’t know what to say otherwise. Pasta was great would have been perfect with salt but it wasn’t offered If you’re not in a rush it is a fascinating place to watch the crowd. Oh, and no bread was offered either

Excellent as usual

By Cristian M |

Eataly doesn’t disappoint regardless of the location, we went for drinks after a long day, wondering around Chicago, service was great, the waitress was excellent explaining the appetizers and wine, love this place

A quick tasty and sweet breakfast at Eataly

By Margarita W |

We visited the Eataly on 43 E Ohio St. in Chicago downtown for a quick breakfast ! We LOVED it ! The croissants were so delicious, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pastry with so much filling ! We got one cream and one pistachio. We also got their version of hot chocolate, warning: this is VERY different, the consistency is more of pudín and very rich, delicious but very different, we used it as a sauce for the croissants.

Love the Italian vibe!

By kimmysue42 |

Love this place- Italian food hall plus groceries, shopping & meats! My friends and love to go here for lunch- share some pasta, wine, pizzas & salads and then shop for fun gifts & Italian delicacies. On this trip we shared a pesto pasta, a large charcuterie platter & a couple bottles of Italian white wine! So fun!

Amazing experience…double thumbs up

By Karen F |

The lunch special was absolutely amazing … the food, the service…everything perfect. I had the mozzarella stuff meatball appetizer and the ravioli.

Pizza Alla Palla does the job

By pyegirl |

Yes, Eataly is not Italy (but remember, it did start in Italy). It IS a pleasant hopping place to visit for a quick meal. For a quick lunch, I love to get the pizza alla palla, which has now moved to the first floor. If you are familiar with the pizza chain in Italy called Alice, the pizza is a lot like that. Certainly good enough for me. When I lived in Rome I didn't visit Eataly a lot and yes there were better places to eat. But this is a lovely experience just for the ambiance.

Great shopping and lunch place

By Geno M |

We stopped by to do a little shopping and have lunch. The shopping is great and I did not think it was horribly expensive. Lunch was good and great atmosphere.

Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it

By hasu424 |

Delicious food, great service. Dining, shopping etc. I believe this is a chain but we don't have one where we live.

Great Experience

By Les2Chicago |

This place is great and don’t take my recent experience by not trying it but as for the selection of deserts, which they have been known for, it has gone down. Both floors of the restaurant / store is still worth checking out and all the food is top notch!

Fabulous spaghetti!

By Paula F |

We first spend an hour wandering through the amazing food emporium, tasting wine, cheese, etc. Then we ate in the restaurant. I had spaghetti in a delicious red sauce with fresh barata. The focaccia was so light and delicious. The wine selection was very good. I will eat in this restaurant every visit to Chicago. And I will leave more room in my luggage to bring their offerings home! Others in our group had the freshly made ravioli and the salmon. All were more than happy.

Excellent food center for both prepared and packaged Italian food

By Hanni |

Eataly is a high quality Italian food chain with all-Italian products. Everything they sell tastes great and is completely original to Italy. The prices are a little high but the quality justifies it. We found it open on December 24 until 9 p.m. because it was the only alternative to dining without prior planning in the city of Chicago. Highly recommended and tasty.

One and done.

By Carl T |

Ok food -- didn't deliver two things that we asked for -- we were in a hurry and bill came with extra item on it (not even one of the missed items). Server did a good job of rectifying the situation, but it was unfortunately not a good overall experience.

negative experience at the gelato bar

By Morena S |

I am so disappointed to see how the worker at the gelato station was acting so rude and trying to correct me when ordering gelato--which by the way I'm from Italy. She screamed a me in front of people, just because I wasn't able to understand what she was trying to say, making me just even more nervous. I understand being a minimum wage worker might be stressful, but this is so embarrassing for such a wanna be 'luxury' chain. It didn't really feel like home in there, but more like a tourist attraction. I ended up going home with a cup of gelato dripping all over my clothes, because I couldn't even get a bag.

Great food poor service

By Eugenie C |

First let me say the food and wine were delicious. The service on the other hand was sub par. We had to ask about the specials and what wine Wednesday was ( it was Wednesday when we were there) the server dropped our pizza when colliding with a guest. We saw it happen and the server never came to explain that our order was being remade. It took another 20 minutes. We then had to track down someone so we could pay our bill.

Great place to get soaked in all things italian

By WanderingSpriti |

I had been to NYC Eataly and this was my first time in Chicago Eataly! The lay out is compact. I would recommend going through its available restuarants and offerings online - as the restaurant lay out is somewhat confusing but there are people to help. Food was awesome. If you are a cook and like italian food, this place will make you go crazy. :-)

Great Service!

By Runner0923 |

When we got there, we were so hungry. Young gentleman was not our server(forgot to ask his name, but when we asked some bread, he ran to kitchen and grabbed Foccacia as fast as he can. Our server was also very friendly and Nice.

Got the Margarita RivisitTata with burrata cheese. Could have saved some money getting the regular margarita.

By Mike F |

So many options. Pizza. Coffee bar. Gelateria. Cannoli filled when you order. Shopping for fresh produce pasta and sauce. Salami and cheeses. And several sit down restaurants.

Tasty lunch spot

By Laura M |

Having been to the Eataly in NYC, my mother and I knew it would be the perfect lunch spot to start our Windy City weekend getaway. They were prompt in seating us on a Friday afternoon around 1:00. Our server was friendly and our food came out quickly. We enjoyed one of the homemade pasta dishes with cheese and black pepper, and treated ourselves to the profiteroles for dessert. 4 out of 5 only because one of the specialty cocktails was very heavy handed on the rhubarb and it was more bitter than refreshing. While our server and the front of house manager noticed not a sip had really been taken from it, it was never asked about. Overall, you can’t go wrong with an Eataly experience in the city though!

Family Dinner at Eataly.

By Chip R |

Holiday grazing at Eataly. Our family of four enjoyed sharing meatballs, mozzarella cheese, lasagna, and calamari. The adults had Aperol Spritzers... great. After dinner try the gelato bar on the 1st floor. The food was delicious and the service (high holiday season) was impeccable with a hint of fun.

The real “Little Italy”

By Marie N |

Fantastic experience if you want REAL Italian food, not the Olive Garden wanna-be. Portions were moderate, but very flavorful and filling. Pasta served perfectly al dente, and bolognese sauce long cooked and meaty. We had a chocolate dessert (don’t remember name!) that was like a cross between pudding and melted milk and dark chocolate- sinful! We didn’t have the pizza, but it looked like the real thing from Naples. Decent wine list, and a little expensive, but hey, this is downtown Chicago. You can extend the experience by shopping in their extensive Italian market, and bring home excellent bread, cheeses and prepared foods. If you can’t go back to Italy, this will make you happy.

Truffle specialties were heavenly

By NMgal4life |

Had lunch at La Pizza & La Pasta. Our server was very friendly but we hardly saw him. Had a seasonal pasta and pizza that both focused on truffles and they were DELISH. Prices are a little high but portion sizes are good. The store area is super fun, very reminiscent of La Grand Epicerie in Paris, with an area to buy meat, an area for fish, for cheese, for produce, etc.

Wide range of high-quality grocery items & you'll pay for it, but worth a visit

By Mark H |

I had never heard of Eataly before, but my better half had and suggested we make the short walk from our hotel. We entered this bustling two-story food emporium for all things Italian. They also have some fresh produce as well as premium meat and seafood. They have dry-aged beef as well as exquisitely marbled Waygu beef at $109 a pound (on sale). They have all sorts of pasta choices, many of which I've never heard of. There are no bargains to be had. For instance a one pound bag of lemon-pepper pasta was nearly $10. There is so much there, you might suffer from the "paralysis of choice". We did stop a have two glasses of an intriguing wine at $15 glass and sat at a hightop table a people watched. We didn't try the restaurants. It's worth a visit, but keep in mind if start using stuff your wallet will be considerably lighter.

Galvanina Tea, bread and oil, cream puffs!

By Amy Ryann Rezulak |

Fun experience for all ages Downstairs: store, walk up eatery stations with appetizers, main dishes and desserts Upstairs: full restaurant, cheese bar counter, meat counter, pasta counter, produce, wine, cooking classes escalator and elevator available Bathrooms with multiple stalls on site Parking lots across the way and down the street, the store validates parking Three of us dined at the main restaurant then had coffee and dessert downstairs. Our restaurant bill was $150, downstairs was $48 Their affogatos were delicious, staff very friendly The hostess was so kind and helped us a lot Great for all ages, any kind of small or large groups saw people dining alone as well Only feedback was the pastas could use a little more seasoning We loved the bread and oil, the iced black fruit tea is delicious Cream puffs were great Meat sauce was good We will come back again

Not Up To Par

By Susanne B |

I have shopped in and eaten at Eataly many times in the past. Shopping, as always, was excellent. We ordered 2 Margherita pizzas to take back to our hotel a block away. The taste was great, but the center of the crust was soggy, almost doughy. This was disappointing because I had raved about Eataly to my travel companion. Just thought you should know.

Love Eataly. This One is Relatively Small

By Daryl C |

My first experience with Eataly was in New York City. That place is huge. With tons of places to eat and buy Italian goods. The Chicago version is very good but substantially smaller. We had an appetizer and drinks at the restaurant. It was very good but really the only option. We also bought a bottle nice Italian red wine and chatted with several of the salespeople. They were all very nice. And the variety of Italian goods is very good. It's just hard to compare with the NYC version.

Come shop, eat, or grab a glass of wine paired with cheese…fun for all

By efustok |

This was my favorite place we went to on our trip to Chicago...it was such a happy, fresh, bright place...as soon as you walk in the pastries behind the glass counter are amazing...I wanted one of each...we were seated in the conservatory, it was lovely, I felt as though I was eating in someone's summer house, lol....the service was good, we got a lot of salads, and sweet potato waffle fries...all were perfect...so delicious. The kids loved their cute tray

Massive disappointment

By Footprints317618 |

After going to Eataly in Dallas, my family was eager to go in Chicago. Food was delivered partially burnt. Service was subpar and the whole experience was a massive disappointment for the entire family.

Always Love Eataly

By Joy G |

I always love Eataly. This is only the second one I have been to with the other being Las Vegas. The merchandise is much better in Chicago but I think the restaurants are better in Vegas. Many of the shops were not open on Thursday, but were on Sunday. In Vegas, they seemed to always be open. The Gelato and coffee shops are always awesome!

A restaurant where you can enjoy an authentic Italian lunch.

By 遊香 中 |

You can enjoy an Italian lunch for $25. The pizza baked in a golden tile oven is not Chicago style, even though you are in Chicago. The dough has the aroma and flavor of durum semolina flour and the standard toppings, but it is a gentle treat for those whose stomachs are tired from the richness of American pizza. The gnocchi has the cheese completely melted by baking, and is more voluminous than it looks and a little salty, so a bottle of white wine is a must, at $28 (a glass is $20, so we recommend buying a bottle). After the meal, you can enjoy shopping for Italian goods such as pasta and sauces, which have an amazing variety of varieties.

Rude staff!

By yoshikin |

Just had a Pizza slice for 12$, Bolognese! I wanted to choose slice but the woman (in her 40’s) told me I couldnt because she could not reach the one I wanted and that very rudely! I finally got it and she pops it in the oven for 5 min. I got it and it was cold! I told her and she did not even answer me! RUDE!!!! Never again! And the pizza was not worth it! 11am 20-03-24 First customer

Italy is a dream that keeps returning for the rest of your life.

By Milton S |

Italy is a dream that keeps returning for the rest of your life. You may have the universe if I may have Italy. The name of Italy has magic in its very syllables. Eataly is fabulous, and ladies like it It’s shopping for high quality Italian things and great dining It’s an experience, and a very good one. Tonight I had the Insalata Colorata - Baby Kale, Baby Spinach, Green and Red Gem Lettuce,Rainbow Carrots, Fennel, Herbed Lemon Vinaigrette

Nice food and good place to meet others

By SJM Jordan |

The place is very nice and full of options. They lack gluten free items but other than that the it’s amazing. It’s good for coffee with friends

Great breakfast if you aren't in a hurry

By Terrence L |

The breakfast fare is limited but delicious. Just be prepared to wait awhile. Tour the store for a fantastic selection of Italian food stuffs including meat, fish, pasta, canned goods, wines and on and on. Bella!

Excellent Gluten Free Pizza

By Cr0ppersmith |

Excellent gluten free pizza and salads, it’s so hard to fine gluten free dining in Chicago. Our server was very attentive. Fun shopping experience afterwards too! Definitely will be returning.

Lunch at Eataly

By Tom G |

Eatlaly is a one of a kind place. The meal was outstanding. We had a wonderful bottle of wine. We enjoyed walking the store

Poor Quality food that is overpriced

By nadacik |

I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The ravioli was terribly bland and their texture was like cardboard. They were swimming in a horrific tomato sauce. The calamari was oily and over salty and rhe crust was soggy. Given the prices of their plates, it was really not value for money or pleasure for the tastebuds. The waitress was nice but not very attentive.

Oh, if only Eataly was in Auckland, NZ!!

By David M |

Okay, so we love Italian cuisine, so after discovering Eataly in Vegas we were delighted to find the Chicago store in the same block as our hotel. Win!! We have dined in, bought take out and pre-prepared meals, and products from the grocery section. Not the cheapest place in town for food, but we can't fault the quality or service. Enjoy! We have!!

Good food

By T A |

Good food, reasonable priced, definitely should make this one of your stops. We will be back. Two levels of food, wine, fresh fish, hand made pasta, wine, beer, the works.

Must Do!

By J E |

We’ve been to the Eataly in Chicago and loved it, so when visiting Chicago we came here to shop and grab lunch. The store is big and nicely laid out. Plenty of freshly made ingredients (pastas, butchered meats, fish monger, sauces, etc) to make nearly any Italian dish you want at home. They also have a few restaurant options in the store as well. Service from those we encountered was great. Their wine and spirits area was quite robust also. Definitely would return and would recommend to others!

Great service

By webpro04 |

A great evening of food, friendly, welcoming service, wonderful traditional Italian food. Great wines, and choice of deserts, only slightly marred by a hair in the gelato!

Nice experience

By Riedel2008 |

We went there for lunch and made a reservation, but place was fairly empt. Great and attentive service with competent recommendations. Good/fair value for your money, later on during our trip went to Eataly in Boston, this one ranks higher.

Very nice lunch

By siochain |

Enjoyed my meal. The service was a bit slow but for a busy lunch hour not too bad. Wish I could've had the time to go back and go through the market too or at least for the gelato!

Don’t bother.

By LeighMagill |

We went to Eataly on a strong recommendation. We won’t be recommending it to anyone based on our experience. We are a family of four. They brought my wife’s ravioli and our son’s pizza out pretty quick. The portion of ravioli looked more like a starter, it was seven pieces of pasta and my wife had to order focaccia as she was still hungry. They didn’t bring the remaining two main courses until much later. By which time two of us had finished eating. They brought my son’s side dish out, then took so long with his main that he’d finished the side before the main arrived. I asked for a carafe of wine, only to be brought a glass. This was resolved but again, it took a long time. My wife ordered a second glass of wine, we had to chase this up too. Really poor service, they were clearing plates before we’d all received our main meals. It’s not cheap, it’s average food, it’s poor service, it’s just not worth it.

What can it hurt to go in and look?

By In50by50 |

Best cheese monger ever! This place is charcuterie heaven. It's incredible that the people working here can have so much knowledge when they have so many kinds of wines, cheeses, meats and fish.

A delicious Italian Eatery with a shop attached.

By magnolialady |

This was a unique dining experience but actually exceeded my expectations. We came in kind of late (after7) and honestly seemed "touristy" and didn't expect a lot. I ordered the "Margherita" pizza for myself and was very pleased. It was most excellent! We didn't order any drinks only water. The waiter was very nice (Carlos?) and helpful. I would come here again. Be sure and check out all of their products in the shop before you leave.

Fun atmosphere! Incredible selection! Don't miss it!

By Kimberly L |

A energizing, fun place to eat with a great selection of quality foods. A simple idea, beautifully executed! You won't be disappointed.

Eataly - Downtown Chicago - Visiting

By YKS |

Ok So I love this restaurant - have visited it in Toronto. Excellent food and ambiance and very clean in Toronto. We were on vacation to chicago - planning to eat here but after visiting the ladies bathrooms - we were disgusted - soooo dirty and unclean for an excellent location and Eataly - this was a bit appalling for us - we just left as the bathrooms in a restaurants says alot about the place. Please give this review considerantion. Also one of the bathrooms was closed I guess it was broken that could be but the other one was sooo dirty and smelly.

A Truly Unique Food Hall Concept

By Elliott P |

What exactly is Easily. To call it a "cafeteria" or a "food court" would be an insult to the world-class food served in this fabulous restaurant/market/whatchamacallit. To be honest, I was overwhelmed as soon as I arrived. It's worth noting that the market and foodservice counters have different points of sale, meaning you may have to ring up puchases in two different places. Some counters serve up dishes on the spot, while others bring food to your table. A separate full-service restaurant on the second floor is also an option. Some fridges offer pre-packaged bites of cheese, dates, and Italian sodas, while others sell grocery goods to be bagged and brought home--all crammed into one building! Confused yet? Bear with me. The food is worth the confusion. I tried the gnocchi cacio e pepe and immediately forgot anything but the salty and rich flavors of this dish. It was nothing short of brilliant. The potato noodles were hearty, tossed in thick, creamy sauce and sprinkled liberally in parmesan. I was stunned by the unbeatable quality of this simple yet unforgettable entree. Coming to Eatily without trying the pasta would be a mistake. I also enjoyed the caprese salad, complete with mozzarella, pesto, and tart red peppers. The salami, Romano, and foccachia were also splendid. While the food here can be a bit pricey, it is always fresh as can be. Don't even think about skipping dessert. I tried a sweet brioche pastry soaked in rum glaze, and absolutely loved it. The cannoli, dipped in chocolate and basted with sweet, whipped ricotta, is also not to be missed. Intrepid diners could eat here every day of the week and still not taste half the great options on Eatily's menu. I look forward to returning soon with an appetite for everything Italian.

Nice Italian Coffee, Gelato, and Groceries Under One Roof

By F4Q |

This place is a café, restaurant, grocery, and gelato shop all in one. It has two floors. The coffee is delicious and very similar to what you’d find in Italy. The seating is simple and well organized, and it’s located across from the gelato counter. The rest of the space is a grocery section offering mostly Italian products. The second floor is a restaurant, and I believe there was also a small grocery corner upstairs, although I don’t clearly remember. The service was good overall, but I expected the seating area to be more comfortable or better designed.

Excellent products

By TandTSwitzerland |

Very nice grocery shopping complex with excellent products. The prices are high but worth it. They also have excellent Italian wines. There are several restaurant options. I had a simple quick bite on the ground floor, a self service desk with pizza, sandwiches etc. the pizza was very good, the coffee and ice cream excellent. Highly recommended for food lovers.

Pricey but amazing pasta.

By jgbtravels |

Eataly is 2 floors of gourmet Italian food products plus this restaurant is in an open area. Service was very professional and attentive. The pasta is some of the freshest and best that I have had. Oh, yeah, expect to pay dearly for it, too. That being said it was a delightful evening enjoying Italian food in this Italian shopping Mecca. We both washed it down with a glass of wine. A glass wine can run from $11 -$20 a glass. Every now and then you have to treat yourself to a good meal, Hey, it’s vacation and let’s face it Chicago is not cheap. We saved room for gelato downstairs. Chocolate and salted caramel was the perfect finishing touch that evening.

Great Lavazza Coffee

By KayteeHC |

Stop in to eat, drink and shop. The Lavazza coffee was great. Items from grocery side good too like the spinach with fagioli.

Expensive for what it is but good

By Jyss |

The market is nice but very expensive. I understand its Chicago but some of the non-imported goods at the market were still extra expensive. We did eat the at the restaurant a group of five. Everyone enjoyed their various pasta dishes. You could add truffles for an extra $15. The wine menu was good it was expensive by the glass but more on average if you bought a bottle. I enjoyed the squash ravioli it had a nice simple flavor. The bread was soft and good. It was easy to get a table on Saturday night for five last minute. The service was good and they were helpful.

More facts, less words...

By RRforty2 |

I always observe flags, in Italy we are full of institutional buildings, schools, barracks, beaches... where too often they fly as if they were rags: torn, discoloured... devoid of care and glory... When I'm abroad I rarely go to Italian places but for Eataly I made an exception. In Chicago I found a reasonably well-equipped establishment with several floors and I had dinner on the ground floor. Unfortunately I noticed a lot of carelessness in cleaning floors and ceilings, standards inadequate for almost all indigenous rooms. Unbalanced prices, a glass of Langhe red wine at 9 dollars while the ricotta and spinach squares at 8.80 dollars... Facit: not up to the level of its President's interviews.

Disappointed. Not the same

By Cara M |

Soggy pizza; watered down Caesar salad dressing; food quality has fallen a lot- prices increased. Nice wine selection though

Fun taste of Italy

By Diana R |

Wow, this place is amazing. A few people told us to be sure and go here, glad we did. We bought a few things, not much due to luggage constraints but we had fun looking and we also enjoyed an Aperol spritz while there. Would def go back again.

Foodie Paradise

By MHBSoDak |

Vibrant experience for all the senses. Great venues to eat. Waiting for your table, no worries, fill your time shopping or get a drink from the wine bar! It’s easy to spend several hours here.

An Italian Oasis

By abroadwithashley |

It’s odd to give a recommendation to a grocery store. If you’ve been to Eataly before and enjoyed it then you’re very likely to enjoy this one as well. If you have been before and did not, then… same. If you are new to this experience, then go. The food is authentic and there are a few specialty items that make the trip entirely worth it.

Delicious, Great service, lovely environment

By Themillionaction |

The Italian foods is really delicious where ever you go, i was driving around and found this beautiful place and had a very taste full lunch, they have variety flavors, if you visit Chicago do not forget to have your best dish in this place.

Nice store, but too loud and downstairs lunch is a sad affair

By Zaphod |

The store is fun and has a great variety of food - so, plus points for that. However, we had lunch here, and it was way too loud - the place is loud and full of echo to begin with, why add obnoxious music? Also, the pizza was sort of meh, and it came on disposable cardboard with a plastic fork and a plastic knife that just wouldn't cut it - if it was only for the downstairs lunch, this would get no more than two stars.

Fabulous Food…Cool Vibe

By Empty Nesters |

We stopped here after picking our daughter up at the airport. She told us about this cool place called Eataly with great food and shopping. We loved it We ate at LaPasta Lspizza. The food was delicious, served hot and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. It was fun to walk through the shopping area and find lots of delightful and unique treats. Over all great experience. Highly recommend it!

Lazy management.

By Tripthi R |

Lazy managers closed it at 9.45 PM. This review is for the corporate to crack it down. Doors locked at 9 45 PM on Thursday . Cutting down on your business by 15 minutes

Maximum variety and quality

By Richard L |

My wife and I were blown away by the variety and selection of all things Italy in this store. We left with truffle pasta and purple and gold gnocchi, but would have loved to take home half of the store. Great experience, will return!

Visited 5 years ago wanted to go back every night -- now no desire to return

By trek2015 |

My first visit to Eataly was a shocking surprise. What a concept food groups and tables close to the chefs preparing -- sitting at the bar while I watch my Vesuvio being prepared. Wander through pasta and sauces in rows next to your eating area - buy what you ate. It may be the covid effect, It may be challenging to get staff, but quality and ambiance have suffered. Very fixed menu -- I asked for the Vesuvio pasta with my red sauce --- "sorry, no substitutes." It is now a food court -- max out seating in a gym - no intimacy, might as well be in a schoolyard with packed lunches."

Best place to eat as an Italian in Chicago

By Mazen H |

Delicious thin pizza very authentic to Italy, nice market style where you can find variety of food, Alcohol and desserts. Gelato is amazing too

Great Pizza

By Phoenix DAWG |

Fantastic grocery, restaurant, wine store. The pizza upstairs are KILLER. The olive oil they use IA ROI. The pizza on the second floor was what I consider one of THE BEST. Worth checking out.

Simply The BEST

By jasespiegel40 |

Like visiting Italy without leaving the U.S. Terrific selection of anything and all things Italian. A must visit when you visit Chicago! Grab N Go, Fresh prepared sandwiches, several restaurants to choose from and desserts galore. This place has it all. Prices aren’t bad at all for Chicago prices.

Back to Italy!

By CleosKeeper |

We ate in the restaurant upstairs and had a great lunch. I ordered the fettuccine with mushroom ragout. It was delicious! Add a glass of Italian white wine, and you have a perfect meal. Serviette was friendly and efficient.

Lunch at Eataly Chicago

By Bilal G |

This place is a complete scam. We were a party of 2. My friend ordered a gnocchi. The quantity he received is microscopic and barely enough for a young kid. I ordered a vegetarian pizza and a large sparkling bottle of water. We paid 70$. This is way too much for such a mediocre quality. I wouldn’t go back there even for free.

Not as good as expected.

By Marisol_Ro |

Great service and pretty place. Overpriced wine. Pizza was not savory. Too noisy and overcrowed to enjoy a meal.

Bad Service not many options !!!

By Josef doliner |

Came here a few years ago and the service was great and food was also great, came back in 2021 and the service was horrible waited for 65 min for a table on a Tuesday afternoon they needed up sitting us in a really small table by the bar where we couldn’t sit informó of each other cause the plates didn’t fit, they didn’t offer any other drinks other than wine beer and water. I had a question about the a dish and the waiter told me he didn’t have time to explain to me what it contained because he was too busy. Food also came out cold and the waiter never checked on our table after the food was served only came back for the check. Food was okay but they no longer serve any pasta with Alfredo sauce and the quantity and quality of food is really low for the price. Will definitely try another local restaurant next time gave up on this one.

Worth the trip

By LivelyLaura |

What an amazing place! A colleague and I ate at Vino &. The meal was quite good, and we shared a couple of wine flights. All the food was fresh made, including some burrata to die for. But Eataly is much more than a restaurant. It is a market, specialty store, and features food to go as well. I wish my hotel had been closer as I would have stopped back again during my visit.

Great!

By Heather |

We enjoyed the winter valentines pop up! My husband and I shared a pizza and it was phenomenal! Service was just as great. We enjoyed the wine tasting inside the shop as well! 🙂

BEWARE OF OVERHYPE TOURIST TRAP!!

By Adrian F |

Extremely overrated. Is a TOURIST TRAP!!!!!!!! Food is not good, dishes tasted straight up stale like someone’s storage attic. Go to Quartino’s MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

Eataly is not Italy

By Nicolina C |

This place is so overpriced, over rated and not authentic. Being Italian, this just felt like such a farce. I really cannot see the attraction to this.

One and done

By Hunter S |

I have lived in Chicago for 5.5 years and for the first time visited the Eataly on Ohio St today. Our excitement quickly turned to disaster. We were greeted politely by the security guard and directed upstairs for dining. Whilst waiting in line to speak with the hostess a child had a full tantrum/meltdown to which our hostess rudely directed the parents to remove the child to the bathroom. When it was our turn to request seating said hostess (older, short, extremely short haircut, and bulky in stature) chastised me loudly after I asked to be seated somewhere close to the bar where there were no children. She kept insulting and judging me loud enough and long enough that other patron’s yelled “Get this guy out of here.” I pointedly reminded her that she was judging me regarding the same child she just told to be taken to the bathroom so she herself wouldn’t have to deal with any longer. After that she stopped and we were finally sat at a table where I was so physically upset that I was nauseous and unable to eat. To calm my nerves I ordered a vodka martini (my friend had a glass of wine) to which I was told would be difficult and imposition to make b/c we were dining at an Italian establishment. I’ve dined at many Italian restaurants over the last 5.5 years of living in Chicago and not one made me feel like an imposition for ordering a vodka martini. I let our server know to cancel the order (which he didn’t) and that we would like to pay the check and promptly leave. After about another 10-15 minutes we were finally able to settle our bill and exit. To his credit our server was overly sincere and apologetic when we explained the situation that happened with the hypocritical hostess. He was hesitant to provide her name so I can only give you her physical description above to identify her. To say this was a failure in quality of service is an understatement. I will never bother this restaurant with my business again, and I will encourage every single member of my family and all of my friends who visit going forward to avoid the same.

If you like Italian, this is manna from heaven

By jra3 |

Yes it’s crowded. Yes the staff are busy as all out. But there is no better selection of all things Italian. Grab yourself a glass of vino or a cup of coffee to enjoy exploring all things Italian food and drink. Save from fit a cannoli or gelato before leaving.

Great pasta but that’s it…

By Eva |

Eataly in Chicago buzzed with its usual lively energy as an Italian market-restaurant hybrid, perfect for wandering between pasta stations and wine bars. The cacio e pepe stood out with its perfectly al dente pasta coated in creamy, peppery Pecorino sauce that hit all the right savory notes without overwhelming richness. My daughter loved the four cheese raviolis. It made for a satisfying River North stop, blending great food with the fun of grazing and shopping in one spot.

Great for sit down dinners, to go meals or a gelato!

By lmbunl95 |

I live only a few blocks away from this location and it is my go to favorite for freshly prepared meals or to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine along with gnocchi or pizza. Excellent selection of wine along with the cheese monger and butcher shop. If you go upstairs to the sit down, be sure to ask for my favorite waiter Brian, he will take excellent care of you. This location also offers cooking classes and seasonal events, be sure to check the calendar. the downstairs has quick Roma pizza to go, gelato and coffee with a sit down area.

Very good for strolling, lunch...

By Louisetteloulou |

We knew the place because the concept exists in Paris. We had lunch for cheap ($25 lunch menu), unbeatable in the United States. With fresh produce and a delicious meal. Good, atmosphere, very nice setting. We even recommend for a snack break (very good espresso and desserts). And we can buy things to go. Go ahead, don’t hesitate!

A letdown on a plate

By Nikita Anna |

This was my first time truly disappointed—heartbreakingly so. The Bolognese tasted like watery Campbell’s tomato soup with a sad sprinkle of ground beef. Honestly, it might be the worst pasta dish I’ve ever paid for, and for that price? Unforgivable. To top it off, they were completely sold out of everything else. I left feeling frustrated, full of regret, and seriously underwhelmed.

Not As Good As I'd Hoped

By Jonathan B |

The store was fantastic, and I had high hopes for the food. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. I had the arugala salad. It was very basic, very lightly dressed, and the lime vinaigrette was really watery and tasteless. I asked for more, and as the waitress was brining it back, a manager stopped her five feet from my table and started to lecture her for several minutes. She just stood there, my dressing in her hand. She glanced at me once or twice, but the manager just kept on chastising her. I had high hopes for the amatriciana. The bucatini was perfectly cooked, but the sauce was bland, and the guanciale did not taste like anything, which I thought was almost impossible to achieve. There was a little bit of bite to the sauce, but only as an aftertaste. The salad and pasta ran $45 after tip, and it just wasn't worth it.

A great experience

By Katie T |

Such a nice spot! A really different dining experience but great all the same. We had pre-booked and got a room to ourselves. We were served charcuterie boards, and then a 3-course meal - to say we were full is an understatement! The wine was also great. Such a fun experience to walk through a supermarket and head upstairs to a restaurant using their products. We had a great time here. Staff were super helpful and friendly and food was so amazing.

Shopping and Dining

By Mary Beth M |

Eataly Chicago is a great place to go shopping and get a bite to eat! Highly recommend. The quality and variety of the items for sale is amazing. It certainly is a place to stop and get the needed quality ingredients for your recipe. While there, make sure you save time to dine in one of the varieties of restaurants there. The food and ambiance is fantastic. It's a definite any time you are in Chicago.

Excellent restaurant. Wine more expensive than the same wine at the shop just feet away.

By 80237travel |

I went to Eataly intending only to browse and instead ended up having lunch and a couple glasses of wine. Eataly is part food hall, part wine shop, part deli and part restaurant, with full sit-down table service at both of its restaurants. As expected on a Saturday late morning and early afternoon, it was extremely busy. The atmosphere was lively and genuinely enjoyable. In the wine shop, however, one of the so-called “wine experts” didn’t actually know much about wine. Sparkling wines from Trento are Trento DOC (Trentodoc), not Franciacorta. I was also told that American sparkling wine is “prosecco,” which is simply wrong. You would expect a higher baseline of knowledge from someone billed as a wine specialist at Eataly. For lunch, I ate at Vino &. There are tables, counters and bar seating. A second restaurant focuses on pasta. The menu at Vino & includes everything you would expect, and the wine list is extensive, though oddly missing an Italian chardonnay and an Italian dry riesling from Trentino or Alto Adige/Südtirol. When it came time to pay the bill, I was overcharged by $10 for a glass of wine — the sort of mistake that’s easy to miss if you’re in a group or have had a couple different wines. To the waiter’s credit, he immediately apologized and offered a complimentary glass with an extremely generous pour. Still, it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. As for the food at Vino &, I have one word: excellent. I was, however, surprised by the pricing. The glass I ordered was $25, or $75 for the bottle, yet the same bottle sells for $29 downstairs in the wine shop. Restaurant markups are expected, but it seems unreasonable for the restaurant to charge more than double the retail price when the shop is mere steps away. All things considered, I’ll return. But Eataly should tighten up the wine knowledge of customer-facing staff and eliminate billing inaccuracies.

Dessert - Unforgettable

By Martha D |

I really wanted to review this place. I was surprised that there is such a place in Chicago! I went there last spring, and that was the first time I tried MONOPORTIONS. Since then, I have just loved this type of dessert! So cool you can eat and buy!

It’s not Italy

By Gerhard H |

Food is ok, but definitely not overwhelming. Groceries are authentic Italian, but very pricey. Service is mediocre. Good for lunch, but not for a fancy dinner. Tiramisu was vey good though.

Food for the soul

By sharrongeg |

Food for the soul! Bought neat, bread, cheese and then enjoyed it at one of their outside tables. Lovely food and dining decor gift options too. Outstanding customer service.

Not worth it

By J h |

Clean, simple table setting, slow service. Bread was good, but the oil served with it was cheap with a poor flavor. We had ravioli that barely had anything in it. It was undercooked (yes, I know what al dente is, but this was not it), with barely any ‘sauce’ on it. I will not return here.

Great Fun!

By Holida_Golightly |

This is a fabulous place to enjoy great wine that you can't find anywhere else. Wine list includes a great selection of Barolos and Amerones by the glass, allowing you to try a variety. Service was perfection: attentive and knowledgable without being intrusive. Would definitely go often if I lived in Chicago.

Gelato and tiramisu

By Craig D |

We stopped in on two occasions in the evening for dessert. Very high prices and the food quality didn't quite justify those. Probably high rent and overhead. Everything was just ok - waffle cone was stale, some gelato flavors were on the bland side.

Decent Italian Food

By xcschlr |

I went to this place for lunch understanding that it is a chain store and ordered pasta with clams that turned out to be very good. My companions also like the dishes they ordered.

Great experience.

By Ross P |

Really good iced mocha. Lots of food choices upstairs. Will be back next time we are in Chicago. They also validate parking

Always enjoyable and takes my wallet

By Eva |

Hi, I have an addiction- not afraid to admit it, either. Been here 5 days and I’ve been here…8. Morning espresso: check Evening gelato: check And for any salad or pizza craving in between… I know I have successfully parented well, when my daughter asks if we can get the best and most authentic Italian food. It’s when we are back home, that we end up in trouble since there isn’t one…oh dear… Their wine selection is amazing and the service along with taste at restaurants are top notch.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER.

By Marybeth C |

This is our 4th visit to Eataly Chicago. I loved each time I went. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, and I love the food there. I bought so much just yesterday Sept 21st 2024 , and it was fun putting it all away in my pantry. We are making the pasta tomorrow for dinner with the mushrooms we got there too. Everyone there is so nice, I enjoyed the coffee too, and the validated pkg. That was great. I will be back again soon. Thanks so very much. Chao

Excellent Lunch

By Joseph C |

EATALY is a unique venue which includes various dining options, gourmet grocery, bakery, gelato shop, wine ship and gift shop all featuring products of Italy. We are regular customers of the grocery, wine shop and bakery. We had not eaten in the restaurant area since before the start of the pandemic. We recentlylunched in and ordered one of their wonderful Neopolitan pizzas, a spritz and a gelato sundae. Excellent service was provided by Claudia R. Prices for the wonderful ambiance and quality food and drink seem quite reasonable,

What looks like a grocery has three excellent restaurants !

By James C |

The first thing one should know is that there are three restaurants in what seems to be a grocery store. The more elegant restaurants are on the second floor among the selections of wines . The environment is pleasant and clean with a great selection of both wines and pastas and pizzas. The pizza is not Chicago style, but Italian Neapolitan. The pasta was el dente and delicious. The service was excellent. It is a restaurant I would definitely return to on future trips to Chicago.

La Dolce Vita: Summer 22

By Irina |

I haven't been to Eataly for some time. In June, I stopped for coffee and dessert, plus I wanted to buy some dessert to take home, too. These days, this high-end restaurant/mega-store looks very busy, as always -- a lot of Italian, high-quality food and drink choices are offered, several spacious, comfortable seating areas are available, service at the counter was very attentive and very friendly. Lavazza Latte was very good, strawberry pastry was a bit too sweet for my liking. The slice of berry pie (Torta ai Frutti di Bosco) I ordered to take home was quite tasty ... and very large! As a quality megastore Eataly presents itself as a huge market place with variety of products (wine, pizza, chocolate, gelato departments), where you can dine and shop, and enjoy a cheerful, welcoming ambiance. Prices for everything have gone up quite a bit -- but this place has never been cheap. I enjoyed my afternoon stop at Eataly, its location is convenient -- on E Ohio St, very close to N Michigan Ave.

If you need to be gluten-free forget this place completely!

By J M |

I did all the correct things before making our reservation. I called and asked about their ability to handle a celiac person’s needs for dining in their restaurant. I was assured that they had gluten free pizza dough, salads and pastas. Then we check in and I ask about a gluten-free menu, and she says they don’t have one, talk to your server. Okay- then he says well if you are celiac it really isn’t safe. But you can try this salad with just arugula and Parmesan cheese and lemon vinigarette dressing and he said he would have them boil my gluten-free noodles in a clean pot and new water but there was only one sauce that was safe. Basically a can of Chef Boyardee spaghettios, but gf. And my pasta came out after everyone’s pizzas and pastas had been served. I usually don’t complain but this was ridiculous all the way around.

LIKE ITALY

By PRAIRA |

It's a great concept that you should definitely check out. Little Italy, in this 2-storey building, you can eat, sip your wine, have a coffee if you wish, choose from a variety of cakes and live the moment. You can taste hundreds of products, from fresh pasta to pizza. If you wish, you can shop for hundreds of types of cheese, salami, sausages, pasta, wine or whatever else comes to your mind from gourmet markets. All of the exhibited products looked more attractive and appealing than the other. Stop by, breathe, eat, drink and enjoy the magnificent place. Enjoy your meal

Teleported to Italy - without the flight.

By Eva |

Been to Eataly in San Jose and Munich so going to the one in Chicago is a must. I feel like I need a "passport" to show my devotion. Great Lavazza bar, for my espresso pick me up. Gelato to die for. Get the pistachio or mixed berries. Yum! The top level has various pasta, pizza and seafood stalls, where you could literally sample your way through. This would have been heaven when I lived in Streeterville back in the day. Sigh. Pastries, chocolates, candies...oh my! Then you keep walking and are met with fresh pasta, meats and cheeses. Let's not forget the household items by Alessi. Swoon! Too bad my suitcase was already full.

Tourist trap - skip

By TraciS |

2-3 stars, was like dining in a food court, server was excellent until he disappeared after getting our food, food just mediocre. My wine was good. Not impressed for Italian at all. Skip.

So so so amazing!!

You will get a great meal here but I have to say our meal was definitely elevated to fabulous by first Ryan who came to us just as we were seated and his recommendations for our wine choices was outstanding. His courteous manner was delightful. Next we fell in love with our waitstaff Velet. She did an amazing job give us recommendations and was so funny and gracious. Lastly, chef Sam made the most amazing charcuterie board. These 3 people really elevated our dining experience. Cannot recommend enough!

I love this place

This place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. We shopped for a while before our lunch reservation. We had melon and prosciutto appetizer, some wonderful, warm, focaccia bread, and the spaghetti Bolognese. All were wonderful. Our server was fun and friendly.

Tasty and Efficient – Perfect for Lunch

We stopped by Eataly for lunch and had a wonderful experience. We were seated quickly, the menu had great variety, and the food was both flavorful and fairly priced. The service was friendly and efficient, which made it a perfect midday stop during our busy day.

Viva Eataly!

All things food and wine Italy in a single location. Our bombolino, croissant, coffee and cappuccino were all first rate. A great place to stop for a bite any time of the day

Overrated

The pre-made food in the grab-and-go sections is massively overpriced for what it is. It was good, but I've had better Italian food for less money in similar markets. Walking around and looking at all the things they have for sale is fun. I noticed quite a few food items I haven't seen since I was last in Italy.

This was the best gnocchi I’ve had in Chicago. Service was phenomenal. Ate every bite, no time for photos. Highly recommend. Get a reservation.

Fun place to explore

Fun place to visit and the food was delicious! The staff members were friendly and helpful. The market was fun to explore with a huge selection of Italian products.

Pasta was undercooked and flavorless

I had heard good things about this place, it was a combination of a restaurant and a grocery store. While cute and inviting, the food did not live up to the atmosphere. My friend eating with me is from an Italian background and she was equally disappointed.

It is a very Italian place!

If you like Italian food, it is a must visit. All Italian products are well represented: pasta, cheeses, wines, sweets... you can eat there or take the products to prepare at home. The design and concept of the store is a 10.

Good experience

This is a nice shopping place with a huge assortment of pasta, cheese, meats, seafood, chocolates and wine, plus restaurants on the second floor. We did enjoy our pasta lunch. The service and atmosphere were great.

Simple Italian Fare in a market setting

Been there a few times on previous visits to Chicago and always enjoy the food and shopping experience. The restaurant upstairs was very crowded with a long wait for lunch seating. Went downstairs and ordered a pizza to eat at the long counters there and it worked out fine. As usual good value and what we expected. If you are an Italyphile you should visit here.
