Great dining experience after a slightly confusing start

By Steve C |

My college age granddaughter and I went to Eddie V's on a recent Monday night. We had reservations and arrived on time. We were told a table was being prepared. But, I got a little impatient after a couple of parties without reservations were seated while we waited. After about 10 minutes we were led to our table and I immediately realized that I had requested a somewhat quieter area of the restaurant so we could talk without yelling at each other and the hostess had worked hard to get us a table that was just right. Everything else just made our experience better. Our server Charlie was helpful, attentive, and did a great job of pacing our meal to let us enjoy a relaxed dinner, while avoiding excessive delays because of two large parties clogging the kitchen. Our bone-in rib eyes were delicious and cooked perfectly and the truffle macaroni and cheese and the crispy brussel sprout sides that we selected were also delicious.

Very good experience

By Piero D |

My wife and myself were there for a dinner during our visit to Austin in october 2019. Warmly welcomed with kind and professional service all the dinner long. Very good sea food, perfectly cooked and correctly priced. Important choice of wines, for every wallet. Advisable, no doubt.

I shouldn't say how much I like this place

By Sugarman4084 |

Very popular restaurant that serves very good food so it fills up quickly. Service is very good and friendly. Please don't go so that I can get a seat next time I go.

We chose a favorite for a birthday dinner.

By mr_larry_smith |

Eddie V always satisfies. It is expensive but worth it. Our reservations still had us waiting in line for a table with everyone else but once seated all was beyond expectations (menu, service, food, atmosphere and the rest).

Lovely Evening

By Southerngirl |

We had an excellent experience on our first trip to Eddie V's. We were seated promptly and appreciated the subdued and upscale atmosphere where conversation came easily. Our waiter was Matthew and he provided wonderful service throughout the meal. We started with the lobster bisque and Caesar salad, both of which were fresh and delicious. I had the filet medallions Oscar style, which was fabulous. My husband, who does not normally order steak, had the special which he said was undercooked for his taste, but very good. (he did not send it back or complain - he's not the type to do so) We did not order dessert, but were brought out a complimentary one which was so kind and also tasty. We had a great evening at Eddie V's and hope they have plans to open in GA soon!

OLD SCHOOL EXCELLENCE

By azs989 |

We went to Eddy V's for dinner and discovered a wonderful place full of old school elegance. Lot's of wood, nicely dressed wait staff and wonderful service. It's not cheap, but well worth it for our special celebration.

Absolutely exceptional food

By angela r |

Absolutely amazing. I’ve said for long enough that trip advisor should have a special star award that we can give for exceptional food. The food in this place really deserves that gold star. ( service & ambiance also excellent) We had oysters to start. My main was the sea bass and my husband had the crab stuffed shrimp. We had side of crab & mushroom rice and the Korean fired Brussels. Dessert my husband had crème brûlée and I had , what can only be described as the best dessert in the whole world and the best thing I’ve eaten ( as a dessert) , the Banana foster butter cake. Definitely by far the best meal we’ve had for a long time

The best restaurant in Austin.

By Lucky Seven |

Eddie V,s is the next. The food and service is excellent. We had steaks and fish and every meal was perfect. We had a group of 10 and 2 servers. They never missed a beat. I It’s our favorite restaurant. Valet service is perfect. The waiter will call for your car when they bring the bill. No waiting for your car.

Awesome experience

By artv427 |

What a great dinner we had there. Texas had just opened and Eddie Vs provided a much needed respite from the panic and fear overtaking our country. Food was awesome. Customer service was out of this world. Thanks to the locals who also ate there and made us feel welcome. See, we can go back to normal and still be respective.

The Original!

By misopiso88 |

The Austin location of Eddie V's is the original so if you like this place, it is worth checking out. It is an upscale chain restaurant selling mostly beef. As of 2011, it is owned by Darden, the American restaurant conglomerate that owns Red Lobster and Olive Garden among other chain brands. Eddie V's has a serious "business man" atmosphere so you might feel out of place if you are there with a different crowd.

Awesome food and ambiance

Amazing service and food and atmosphere. Everything from the moment you walk in the door is lovely. They really are happy to see you and appreciate your business. Highly recommend!

Steakhouse next to Antone’s

By Solutions123 |

Eddie V’s is one of the steakhouse we bring out of town business associates too. We brought our out of town friends to Eddie V’s because we were going to Antone’s to listen to a band after dinner and it’s literally next door. It’s like a typical steakhouse - lots of dark wood, old men, steak, scotch, cognac, bourbon... You can’t go wrong with the food. Lots of things to do within walking distance too!

Everything Was Great

By DCPeople |

A traditional looking steakhouse/seafood restaurant, Eddie V's exceed expectations. Excellent service complemented a diverse meal in which everything was terrific. We enjoyed the oysters, spicy hamachi appetizer, ahi tuna tartare, chilean sea bass, and a NY strip.

We popped I for a drink, dessert

One of Austin’s Best

By GinnySue49 |

We enjoy Eddie V’s very much and always order the fresh oysters. It’s a beautiful restaurant and we like sitting in the bar area and listening to the live music. Eddie V’s really has it together.

THE BEST.....PERIOD!!!!!

By Daryl H |

Let's keep it simple and brief. This is THE BEST restaurant in Austin period. Number one on TripAdvisor. Been here many times. Always outstanding food and service. Delicious steaks, prime seafood, chef inspired specials, and the list goes on. Outstanding staff. Gary and Bruce in the V Lounge are tops. Luigi in the dining room is old school, and will make your dining experience very special. Not cheap but worth every penny. Better than three Michelin stars! One visit and you will agree. Reservations are a must. Valet parking. Highly highly recommended!!!

Eddie V downtown Austin is toos.

By OberstA |

Eddie V remains at the top. Service ( our excellent waiter Eli), crew teamwork and the excellent quality of the food marks this eatery above the other Austin steakhouses. Meals are cooked precisely to order. Steak here is hard to match elsewhere. This is one restaurant that would survive in Manhattan. And prices are no more than other steakhouses.

Favorite spot in Austin

By C G |

We have been coming here for ten plus years because it’s so consistently great. Family dinners (with hard-of-hearing parents), kids or just the two of us at the bar. The oysters, steaks, Caesar with tapenade, bananas foster are our go-to’s. The valet makes it so easy. We prefer this location to the Arboretum - it’s good but just a bit too stuffy.

Best steakhouse

By kdwilliamspt |

This is my favorite steakhouse in ATX! The ambiance and energy is so fun here and the food is even better!

First time visitor

By jeffeichman |

I was invited to a dinner meeting last Tuesday evening to Eddie V's in Austin. It was an amazing experience! The staff made me feel like I was the only person dining in the restaurant, even though it was a packed house. The absolute best steak I have ever had...no need for the steak knife.

Dinner service was spectacular!

By Matthew B |

We were fortunate enough to have the dinner service provided by Luigi. Our food was outstanding but his service and knowledge of the menu took our first Eddie V’s dinner to the next level! He was very friendly, welcoming, and thoughtful.

BEST STEAK AND SEAFOOD IN AUSTIN

By Riccardo N |

An unforgettable experience in Austin. I started with Gulf Oysters and then a prime Rib-Eye Steak really juicy and excellent. thanks to Luigi, opur waiter. I had a beer while I was waiting, then a white Chardonnay to join oysters and then a Red wine from Sonoma really tasty. excellent dinner. price list in the average, nothing more than that. suggested.

Extremely well cooked seafood with good service

We ate here while staying at the Driskill after dicovering that the Driskill Grill is closed on a Monday. We had not dined at an Eddie V's before and were very impressed by the quality of the dishes and the attentive service.

Great Seafood in Austin

By beachtraveler3 |

My husband & I dined at Eddie V’s on February 5th. We had the tuna tartare for our appetizer. It was tasty, fresh & had a little zing. We both loved it. For the main course I had the branzino & my husband had the sole. We both loved the fish - moist and tender and very fresh (no fishy taste). We had the sautéed spinach for the side. Perfectly cooked, but NOT mushy with a nice hint of garlic & Parmesan cheese. We were too filled to eat dessert- maybe next time! WOW!

Eddie V is the best steak and seafood eatery in Austin

By OberstA |

While we go to Eddie V's quite a bit, we wanted to try other similar restaurants in Austin: Truluck, Bob's and Perry's. All had strong points. But Eddie V trumps them on quality of food and service. Prices are all similar. We see that Eddie V is usually rated number one by Open Table and Yelp.Well deserved.

Our Favorite Restaurant in Austin

By CPhillips-Clan |

I have to say my favorite place in Austin . My wife and visit Austin once a year and we always make time to eat here. Austin was our server and he was fabulous. We had a smoked old Fashioned and my wife had the 24 kart . Both were incredible. We enjoyed appetizers for nice happy hour and finished with my favorite Banana fosters. Incredible!!! Already looking forward to next year.

Favorite Get Away!!!

By tyegraves |

Eddie V's has always been one of my favorite places to go to and the place to take family and friends. The atmosphere is is perfect for an evening of cocktails, music, and great food! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly!

Nice evening out

By CSNRWhite |

Eddie V's was an awesome Friday 'date night' dining experience. Our waiter was excellent, the ambiance is chic with lots of fun energy, a beautiful diverse dining crowd, and live music. They have a great happy hour and dinner menu (seafood, steak, chicken). I had stuffed shrimp with a side of scallops and my hubby had the ribeye (prepared to perfection). The food was delicious ! Eddie Vi's is a pricey, but worthwhile night out.

Savior during the snowstorm!

By 4alexnyc |

During the snowstorm, with most restaurants shutdown, Eddie V's came through. They only offered takeout and a fixed menu, but it was great! Perfectly cooked ribeye with fries and lobster bisque. For takeout, they packaged everything separately, including the lobster and bisque, so the food would still be delicious when opened up at home. Service was great and the food was ready exactly as scheduled - no small feat considering this was one of the few restaurants open during the storm. Well done and thanks for feeding a desperate city!

Old Skool, Modern Chic

By Jensoid |

For more years then I care to remember, Eddie V's has been a constant measure of excellence. It has the unique ability to bring old skool elegance to modern chic. Living SW Austin, has kept us out of the downtown scene, however we do venture out from time to time for staycation celebrations. This was the case for our recent visit. It was my Suzie's 70th and an excellent reason to celebrate. I made reservations a month or so in advance for a table of 4. I got a phone call from Eddie V's to confirm the reso, the occasion and to review Suzie's Allergies the day of. Nice touch, makes one feel classy. They have valet parking, but we had a ride, so parking was a no brainer. Upon arrival, our table was ready, in one of their back room areas in a wooden panelled room. We felt removed from the rest of the restaurant, but included in the ambiance. Alexander our waiter, quickly came by and introduced himself. They utilize a team service here, but Alex was definitely going to guide through this evenings dinner. Superb waiter. Polite, funny, informed and there when we needed him and not there when we didn't. It was like, he had a third sense to know when we wanted something else or a question. Cannot ask for more than that. Dinner was delicious. It started with a complementary Amuse, to get the palate in check. Although Suzie cannot enjoy the 16 Oyster spread we ordered, she did enjoy the Calamari. I like how they prepare the Calamari at Eddie V's. They combine some veggies with the Calamari and lightly battered. The Oyster's were all East Coast, from Blue Point, Summer Love, Shooting Point and MoonLight Bay. Sweet, fresh with subtle brininess. My bro in law ordered the Lamb Chops and Chilean Sea Bass which they enjoyed. Wifey and I, optimistically ordered steaks. Mine Oscar style with a Crab topping. Optimistically... only because it seems the past few times at other establishments when we have ordered steaks, more times then not, they cannot seem to prepare steaks medium. Undercooking seems to be the new Medium. Why we had this silly bias is ridiculous here at Eddie V's. They were perfectly cooked to our request. I shared with Alex our trepidations and he mentioned he never is concerned with the grill guys, they have been here for many years and know their stuff. They certainly do. We opted to also ordere the Au Gratin, epic and some grilled asparagus, with nice char. I will mentioned that not only did they provide us with a complimentary Amuse, but a Champagne Toast for Suzie's 70th and a celebratory desert with fire and all the stuff. Even though we don't get by as much as we used to, Eddie V's Always... Always nails it. Do you get what you pay for? Absolutely. Never in a rush to get us out of there, even on a bustling PM in Downtown Austin on a Friday. Job Done Guys!

Eddie V's happy Hour

By Ed M |

I have been to Eddie V's for Happy Hour a bunch of times. The drinks and small plates during Happy Hour are reasonably priced and well prepared. Just a great place to stop off after work and to meet friends. I am fond of their martini's.

Great food and good service. Best steakhouse bar in Austin. Good place for business meal or a celebration.

Wonderful Local High End

By Gran7 |

The food is so good here. The atmosphere is electric. The service is spectacular. Just a great experience. Always consistent

Eddie V's Prime Seafood has gone Corporate America

By TexasOne H |

Sadly, just like all the other good restaurants, once Corporate America becomes owner/operator it's never the same aka food becomes pedestrian but maintains high price tag. We were also disappointed as my wife had requested a table out of the congestion path and it was for a very special occasion. They gave us a table top for two for four people in the worse location in the restaurant. Never again.

Always Good!

By Mark H |

This is one of our favorite places in Austin. We've never had bad service and the food is always great. They always take care of us on anniversaries and birthdays. You won't be disappointed if you go.

Classy, old school steak house with amazing food and service

By Lynn W |

As a resident of Austin with many food options, Eddie V's is a go to for great cocktails, classic steakhouse offerings, live music, and great service.

Excellent

By hugmee |

Excellent service , with a fine wine menu to compliment quality food , cooked to perfection, top job , truly excellent food

Never Fails!

By tenley828 |

My husband and I come here for just about EVERY special occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Luigi is the Bomb and other waiters do not disappoint. Food always delish. Atmosphere awesome (tables are close together which reminds me of NYC, where I lived before ATX!). Never a snobby "too cool for school" vibe here - unlike so many new places ("can I tell you about our soup and the 87 local farms from whose harvests it is made?" Snore.)

New Favorite Steak House

By Steven B |

Our visit to Eddie V’s was delightful. The steak was unbelievable, scallops were unusual and interesting, side dishes quite good, and the service was the best imaginable. If you are deciding between high end steak houses, the difference of service between Eddie V’s and other Austin steak houses is, alone, reason enough to choose. The staff here were perfectly attentive, humorous, and delightfully skilled. My cocktail was perfectly prepared, then the caesar salad arrived—it was the most enjoyable dressing that I can recall tasting. (You don’t expect a salad to be memorable, but this was special.) Then our steak and scallops. The steak was the most flavorful that I can ever recall, and it was tender enough to cut with a fork. I have already used the descriptor “unbelievable”, but that word truly applied to the steak. Best I’ve had in Austin, better than from the big name steak houses that I’ve tried here. Scallops are normally prepared simply with lemon and butter, but these were a bit different, having a mildly southwest seasoning; they offered a complexity of tastes that highlighted their differences from the mundane. And perfectly prepared—not an easy task for a scallop cook. In the end, I decided they were not something I would seek again, but I truly enjoyed the tasty process of evaluation. They were truly unique and may be perfect for everyone else. The deserts were also delectable. We staggered back to our hotel in heavenly stupor, vowing to find another evening to return.

Eddie V. and Luigi - outstanding!!

By EmilioLargo1952 |

Went to Eddie V's in downtown Austin to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was really outstanding! Everyone made us feel special, especially our waiter Luigi - who always goes above and beyond. Go there and try it! You won't be disappointed.

This is a great place for celebrations. We were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary. The food and service were exceptional.

Excellent choice

By Andy M |

Excellent choice if you’re in Austin. Great service and meal was outstanding. Jazz quartet in the lounge for coffee and after dinner drinks topped it off.

Ordered from here before

By David Miller |

Ordered from here before also. Was very happy earlier. Recently they have increased the prices by about 50%, reduced quantity, and quality has also gone down somewhat. No longer value for money great food. Disappointed.

Eddie V's still charming and class act

By Doug T |

We have eaten at Eddie V's over the years and were anxious to see how it survived the pandemic. It did not disappoint. The service and food were excellent, as always. Kristin, our server, was wonderful and the food was outstanding. We were so pleased with the experience.

Just Go!!!

By Lisa D |

Went for my husband's 61st birthday. We had excellent service, server took pictures. The food was incredible the steak melted in my mouth!!

CHOICE Grade Rip Off

By Trail41045054046 |

EddieV has been our go to for years. Ambiance, service, food- all perfect. EddieV is serving Choice grade steaks and advertising and charging them as Prime. Our waitress was aware of this practice and the mgr came over and BS'd me on it. Lying to customers at a high-end restaurant is a deal breaker.

Normally amazing but disappointed this time

By Justbrocky |

Have been here many times and had a great experience. This time was different. Group of 5 for dinner ...friends get together. Drinks were excellent as usual. Still one of the best made cosmos in Austin. When we sat down there was an overwhelming smell of dirty rags. I worked in food service years ago and know the customer isn't supposed to smell that. Next. Everyone loved their food except me. The steak was $50 but quality was not good. They always have had good quality steaks in past but looks like i won't be ordering that again. I prefer the arboretum location and will prob stick with them going forward.

We had no reservation but

By Dianaleigh |

We had no reservation but they found us two seats together at the bar. Full service menu there. Friendly and lovely service and delicious petite filet. They made us plain mashed potatoes as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great Evening !

By cooker72 |

Awesome! This is a “does not disappoint” restaurant! Food and service are consistently top notch! Delicious hot bread and great drinks started our meal. Lobster Bisque and Caesar Salad were both excellent! The special, a Halibut dish was awesome! It was topped with an avacado crabmeat slaw…perfect! Dessert was a Butter Cake Bananas Foster…flamed at the table! Our waiter, Thomas, did an excellent job! We will return!!

A high calibre restaurant that delivers on food and service . 5 stars

By Mr .Hustle |

In Austin on business ,I wanted something healthy abd a pleasant atmosphere. I read reviews of several restaurants in Downtown Austin. Eddie V’s had great reviews. I wanted a good salad and fish not steak. I had the burrata salad and the Tuna main course both were delicious and well prepared. My server was very charming and friendly and helped me go through the menu and checked to make sure everything was alright several times during the meal. She was originally from Las Vegas working at Famous restaurants there and had recently moved to Austin . She was fantastic ! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It’s 5 stars worthy .

Excellent seafood

By Never Again |

My wife and I come here a couple times every year. They always have the best seafood. Pricey, but worth it.

Great Atmosphere, Great Service, Great Jazz, Great food

By Moody C |

Although Eddie's is a big pricey, it was worth it. We really enjoyed our evening here. The music was perfect, the seafood we ordered was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal. And the service was the best. Highly recommend it.

Love Eddie V's - Arboretum, Austin, TX

Love the food and the bartenders. They are in the business to to please their guests. The food is exceptional and the steaks are so yummy. They literally will do whatever it takes to make your dining enjoyable. Mark, one of the main stays in the bar can make any drink you want and will remember your name the next time you visit them. Seth, manager and is always willing to try and help with your request. EV's has become our favority place to frequent in Austin and their bar is fun, friendly and we always meet someone new.

Great Service and food quality!

By Carolina T |

When my husband and I are looking for surf and turf, we think of Eddie V's. We went to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfect! Never fails :)

Enjoyable evening, great seafood

By DonH |

I returned to Eddie V's and this time was seated in the dining room which was much quieter than at the bar. I had crab stuffed shrimp with Brussels sprouts, both of which were delicious. Followed by a scoop of ice cream, the bill came to $52.50. I would gladly return again. Highly recommended

Amazing Birthday Celebration!

By toomuchfun22 |

We invited guests to join us in a birthday celebration here. They were all first-timers while we had previously eaten at a different Eddie V's. This experience was over the top and our server, Luigi C., was superb! His banter and service was top notch and took our dining experience to the next level of enjoyment! All entrees were fabulous and the bananas foster dessert was as delicious as ever! This is a great place to dine for any occasion!

Exemplary!

By ChristineAndrews2013 |

Attention to detail.... everything was purposeful. The parking, the greeting, the cocktails, the appetizers, entrees....it was all thought out to provide an exceptional experience. The food was amazing, Luigi our server was exemplary, the crafted cocktails were stellar! We were celebrating the graduation of our Longhorn and every element was worth a celebration!! I'm a service and food snob. I don't give 5 stars easily....Eddie V's earned every star!!!

Highly recommend.

By Fearless Rabbit |

It was our first visit and the dining experience was examplary. Great service, atmosphere, and food. We were seated earlier than our reservation time. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We would go back again for sure. Highly recommend.

Best Restaurant in Downtown Austin

By Kimberley R |

Eddie V's is a wonderful higher end restaurant that I love. Bar and drinks were excellent (especially the Dirty Martini), staff was attentive, dinner amazing! Great place to impress a date, family or friends. Highly recommend! In walking distance to a few hotels as well.

We ate here for our anniversary so worth it! The best crab cake I have ever had! All was delicious! Michael our server was superb!

Exquisite

By Jaime T |

I stopped by for an appetizer to hold me over until my late evening dinner reservations, I ended up there just as they were opening. Despite being preoccupied with opening duties the staff was friendly and inviting. I set up at their modified bar seating and quickly received a glass of wine and expedient, courteous service. I had oysters on the half shell, amazing, and their truffle Mac and cheese of which I wish I had ordered the full serving. It was a perfect starter to my night.

If there was a standard set for steak and seafood they would be it.

By Ray Wolf |

I’ve been going hear for nearly two decades and the experience never disappoints. The food and service have always been the best. No need to chase the latest trendy restaurant when this one will more than deliver every time! Great wine selection by the glass as well!

Exceptional

By Sandy C |

Best steak I've ever had, exceptional service, amazing desserts. It was my husband's birthday and the staff went up and beyond to make him feel special.

One of the best steaks ever

By Balsher |

We had a terrific meal at this restaurant in late December 2021. Plus our server -- Arianna -- was delightful. Arianna brought us 2 sides, since my wife and I couldn't agree on which side to order. And then, we were really full after the meal, and did not order a dessert. But Arianna brought us the bananas foster. Wow. Great service, atmosphere, and food.

Excellent dinner and Austin Texas.

By whileitravel |

We really enjoy this restaurant. We made a reservations prior to our arrival. Would seem like a good idea since it was very busy. The place is quite big but not too big and it has a nice ambiance with the correct lighting and background music. My wife ordered a sea bass while I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon. They had a very nice selection of Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass and I ordered the hall California wine. For sides we ordered the lobster mashed potato along with fried rice with crab. And so too were the two sides. They were excellent. Service was excellent. Prices seemed reasonable. I only took off one star because I thought the toilet really needs some work. Would recommend would return. Really nice place.

Birthday Dinner Celebration

By CamilleRenee18 |

My friends and I celebrated my big Birthday last week on May 27th! Our server Alex Fisher was so kind and sweet to us all. His attention to detail and over all service was exceptional. Our group had an incredible time, thanks to his outstanding efforts. A special thank you to all the staff at Eddie V's for making us feel so incredibly loved and cared for. Five stars all the way!

Wonderful upscale restaurant with excellent steak & seafood

By Munro1954 |

We chose this restaurant because it was one of the very top rated fine dining restaurants rated in Tripadvisor for Houston. The restaurant and its staff did not disappoint. The ambience is intimate elegance, the service was impeccable. The culinary choices were inspired. We started with their delicious Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sautéed Maryland Style with Spicy Chive Remoulade We followed it with their melt in your mouth medium rare PRIME, 18 oz bone in New York Strip steak. Which we accompanied with a half order of their unique and delightful Butter Poached Lobster Mashed Potatoes which was a delectable pairing with the steak There was plenty to share between my wife and I of each course. I highly recommend Eddie V's for a special dinner or occasion

Great Place

By John379 |

Had a great meal at Eddie V's, both the food and the service were good. Arianna provided good service. The goat cheese salad and the oysters were good starters. Dinner was the filet with horseradish crust and the bacon filet wrapped with asparagus and béarnaise sauce. Both were excellent.

An exceptional birthday night dinner for 2

By Thunderbolt |

My wife and I were celebrating her birthday at Eddie V's and I must say we made an excellent choice choosing this restaurant. We stopped at the bar first waiting for our table and Gary made me a great manhattan. My wife had a small problem with her drink and Gary fixed it to her satisfaction immediately. At dinner we enjoyed a wonderful meal, everything cooked to perfection! But the extra birthday attention was just off the charts! Our waiter Alex was phenomenal all night, starting with the recommendations which my wife chose and loved! He also saw we had debated on which of 2 sides to choose. After we picked one for dinner, he brought us our second choice on him! Then on top of that we were gifted dessert and prosecco for our birthday celebration. Alex made it a perfect night and so did Eddie V's. I cannot say thank you enough for a night we won't forget with you! I will be singing your praises to as many people that will listen.

Great experience!

By Ace5150 |

To treat myself on my "Trip of a Lifetime" to Texas, and Austin in particular, I decided to eat at this renowned restaurant as the seafood is supposedly legendary. A vibrant place, great atmosphete, great service and the house band were great! A bit on the pricey side, BUT reassuringly expensive........and you only live once! My server was very professional and explained the House Specials. I opted for the Point Judith Calamari followed by Jumbo Gulf Shrimp......simply divine! After the glorious dinner, I declined dessert and just soaked up the atmosphere knowing I had made the right choice coming here. Truly excellent.

A must on your seafood list!

By Love2Travel1368 |

A great first full day in Austin, Texas for a long weekend getaway. One of the best seafood meals / experiences in our world wide travels and my husband is a chef. Martinis, Seafood Tower (Oysters, Shrimp, Lobster, Crab), Sol, Scallops, and Crab Fried Rice. Our server Miguel was fantastic! Wonderful experience, atmosphere, and live music. This place is an absolute MUST!!!!!

What a great dining experience

By Tammy1960 |

We dined last night as a party of 12 for our company Christmas dinner. What an amazing evening. Ariana was our server and she was OUTSTANDING! She was professional, knowledgeable, friendly. The restaurant was so busy on a Saturday night and we were a large party. She anticipated our needs, didn’t hover but was there when we needed her and got everything correct with a beautiful smile on her face. She had several large parties but made us feel like we were her one and only. The food was served and everyone loved what they got! If you go, please order the Kung pau calamari!!! I would go back again just for that!

Noisy "in" place

By Squo |

Fair value and fair drinks at the bar in a crowded noisy place. Waiters too busy to be helpful and running like crazy so chaos. Should improve and obviously being well attended

I was absolutely surprised when my family and I walked to our table at Eddie V's! I was recently awarded Teacher of the Year at my school and my family decided to celebrate with a night out and a lovely dinner at our favorite restaurant. My mom mentioned my accomplishment and my husband's recent promotion in the reservation notes to let the staff know that we were there for a celebration. When we were escorted to our table, there was not only a card for both my husband and I congratulating us, but they had decorated the table and the restaurant gifted me the most adorable teacher tote bag with teacher themed gifts inside! I was so shocked and grateful at how above and beyond they went to celebrate me and my husband! Beyond this, our server Gianna was such a positive and warm presence as she expertly served us our delicious meals, spoke with and congratulated us, and presented a beautiful and delicious bananas foster dessert that the chef created for our celebration. Overall, I have never been more impressed with a restaurant and Eddie V's will always be our favorite place to go!

Why the Upsell?

By jon762 |

I came here with family hoping for an interesting meal. After we were seated, the waiter tried to sell us the "seafood tower". Unfortunately, no one at the table was interested. After ordering a bottle of wine, the waiter immediately tried to get us to order a second bottle, claiming that there would not be enough for the entire table. There were 7 at the table, one was under the age of 21 and I don't drink alcohol. Most of the rest of the table had a small glass. One bottle was plenty. My food was "OK" -- nothing that I would truly rave about. Most meals came with some sides, but if you truly wanted a balanced meal, you would have to order additional sides (for an additional charge). The server handled the three people with allergies honestly and easily. No major problems there.

Date Night Austin

Our experience at Eddie V's was exceptional. The food was outstanding, and the restaurant's location is excellent. Adam, our server, provided exemplary service, and the entire staff was attentive to our needs. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience.

Place to Eat if in Town for Only One Night

By abscfs |

Place was packed so I found one seat left at the bar. Ordered Bluepoint oysters, crabcake and shrimp at happy hour prices and was less than $50--a real deal at the best restaurant in Austin. Great upscale bar crowd with several pretty girls chatting up the solo guys like myself. I recommend you make reservations in advance because even on a Sunday night there was no space left anwhere to sit.

Great anniversary dinner

By Cortney C |

My husband and I ate here while in the area for our anniversary. We had great service both at the bar and the table. They do a little something extra special if they know it's your anniversary. We both really enjoyed our meals. I am celiac (gluten free) and they accommodated with no problem at all. We will definitely be back to an Eddie V's.

Best Celebration spot in Austin

By Doug M |

This past weekend, my son presented his thesis prior to December graduation from University of Texas, Plan II. To celebrate, my wife made reservations at Eddie V's (per my son's request). When making the reservation, they asked if we were celebrating anything. My wife told them our son was graduating from UT. When we arrived, the table was decorated to celebrate the graduation and the whole Eddie V's staff had signed a card to celebrate the graduation. Our waiter, Luigi, was wonderful and made a special point of honoring and congratulating my son for his achievement. Basically, it was a special occasion and Luigi made sure my son knew it. The food was impeccable. I had peppercorn crusted bone in New York Strip with au poivre sauce. The others had seafood including sea bass and lobster. The meal was perfect. At the end, Luigi asked if we wanted dessert and we all declined since we were so full from the wonderful meal. Luigi informed my son that he could not pass since they had already made him a special desert to honor the occasion. He then brought out a Bananas foster with the word "Congratulations" spelled out on the plate and then set the desert aflame. It was wonderful and the care that the staff at Eddie V's showed my son meant a lot to him and my family. He was delighted. In fact, my younger son, who graduates from UT next year, asked if we could come back to Eddie V's for his graduation celebration!! Great job Luigi and the rest of the Eddie V's staff. Dinner could not have been better. Everything was perfect. Thank you!!

Birthday Dinner

By Beverly D |

We had a fantastic time at my birthday dinner for 4 couples. We shared raw oysters, entree choices were varied and the comments were very positive from everyone! My husband had steak which was perfect and I had swordfish which is a favorite and didn’t disappoint. The service was wonderful- the table set with rose petals and a signed card from the staff, including a complementary flambé dessert. I highly recommend!

Never got to try it

By Pamela S |

Wanted to go for dinner but all booked due to graduation celebration. Told we could in the bar if we came by first come first serve. No thanks. We'd rather not pay steakhouse prices to sit at a bar.

Consistently great

By C G |

We celebrated a family birthday at the Eddie V’s Arboretum and it was great! Adrien was our server and he was impeccable! We had oysters, the lamb, the tuna tartare and the sea bass. So glad the Parmesan sea bass is back on the menu! I don’t really care for the other version on the menu - the Hong Kong (steamed) sea bass. Don’t be afraid to ask for fries and absolutely don’t skip the bananas foster!!!!!!

Not inexpensive - but so worth it - amazing food and exceptional service!

First, we made reservations online and the only time available was for 5:15 pm. We took it knowing it would be super tight for us to make it there, but we really wanted to go based on all of the great reviews. We called when they opened at 4:00 and explained our situation, that it was our last night in Austin and our anniversary. They offered us a table at 6:00 in the piano bar (which we really, really wanted). Upon our arrival (a tad early) they seated us and much to our pleasant surprise, there was an anniversary card and rose petals on the table. What a nice touch. Then there was our amazing meal, complete with dessert, yum, yum, yum. There were four of us and three different meals were order. Almost in unison we all say, WOW, this is amazing. Our server Joel was also amazing. He didn't rush us at all. He was patient, attentive even after we told him were hoping to sit for a while and enjoy the music in addition to the food. We were there for 3 hours and not once did he rush us, in fact, he said we could sit there all night of we wanted to. First, we made reservations online and the only time available was for 5:15 pm. Happy hour

By Cheryl M |

My first time at Eddie V’s. They have a wonderful happy hour with drink and appetizer specials. Their mojito was the best and sampling of crab cakes, filet minion sandwich sliders, steak tartare and oysters was excellent.

Upscale classy restaurant with impeccable service, live music and delicious food

By lbeylina |

My husband and I booked Eddie V restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We are in town for only 3 days, so I diligently researched all of our options and based on reviews and recommendations we decided to definitely dine at this restaurant. Upon arriving for dinner, we were stunned with the hostess hospitality as well as the interior ambiance. The staff knew that it’s our anniversary and went all out to sit us in a gorgeous booth where they decorated the table with fresh rose petals as well as a hand written Happy Anniversary card. The restaurant has a live music band playing. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure that the drinks were refilled promptly and the dishes were brought out at the perfect timing. We ordered yellow tail sashimi as well as some fresh oysters as an appetizer as we wanted a more light, refreshing option prior to a “heavier” entree. The oysters were very fresh and the sashimi was very refreshing and delicate. For the entree my husband ordered a halibut and I ordered their steak medallions with crab on top; both were equally delicious. The cocktails were phenomenal, mine came with an elderberry syrup ice cube. This restaurant not only met but exceeded our expectations and if we’re ever back in town we will definitely come back to dine here again.

Simply Unbelievable Experience

By david e |

We went to Eddie V’s from on the recommendation of our hotel shuttle driver. Having never been to the area before, he suggested we give it a try as he said the steak he had there was one of the top 3 he’d ever had in his lifetime. That was good enough for us so we went. Upon walking through the front door, we were promptly greeted by staff and it only took us a couple of minutes to be seated. The ambiance was great, the staff all dressed in white suit coats for the men and classy skirts for the ladies. After having been asked if it was our first time there, a chef brought over a shrimp appetizer just because. A little something to tantalize our taste buds, he said. It was great. I ordered a bacon wrapped filet, that had crab meat, asparagus and bernaise sauce which was AMAZING! Ginny ordered a stuffed sole, which had a crab and basil risotto with a lemon sauce inside. They were both simply fantastic. The staff during our visit were very attentive and couldn’t have made us feel more welcomed. I would highly recommend the trip to Eddie V’s in Austin TX to anyone and everyone passing through there.

Does not disappoint

By Miguel_M |

It had been years since I was at an Eddie V's and the visit matched the memories. Great cocktails, knowledgeably team re the wine and menu choices. Lovely burrata salad, a tenderloin cooked to perfection and just a lovely ambiance.

Excellent

Reservations are a must, in spite of being a huge facility. We went here for my wife’s special birthday dinner. Server was extremely attentive. Food was served hot and delicious. Complimentary birthday dessert - bananas foster. Yum !

STILL THE BEST IN AUSTIN!!!

By Daryl H |

Outstanding in every way! Consistently the top rated restaurant in Austin. Exceptional service and delicious quality prime seafood and steak. Chef inspired entrees and daily specials to please your palate. Wonderful appetizers, salads, sides and desserts. Luigi in the dining room and Eric in the popular V Bar make every visit memorable. Great local musical entertainment in the lounge. Reservations are a must for this very popular Austin restaurant. Valet parking. Very highly recommended!!!

Very good food big portions

By andreaFrechen |

Phantastic Place! You cannot see from the outside the high quality of this restaurant. We started with a very good glass of red wine during happy hour and had dinner afterwards. The service was super friendly, very competent and really perfect. The portions are quite big! So they asked us, whether we wanted to share the starter as well as the main course. That makes sense! We had as a starter the Ahi Tuna tartare (awesome) and afterwards a steak which was really big! They had a liveband and that was really great!

Fancy Overpriced White Tablecloth Joint ... But it delivers

By Gianna G |

For a night out on the expense card, this is a good choice. They have private rooms and they deliver lobster or tomahawk steaks and a fair wine list. If you drive a lambo or mercedes and can afford the top shelf pricing, it's a nice treat.

Austin’s finest...

By cannonater |

Went here with my Utah Realtor association...Great ambience, exceptional service( a little slow), amazing quality of food. Portion size just right. Wednesday night and the place was packed. Had the sea bass and it almost melted in your mouth.

Overrated

By Brad W |

This place is overrated. Our last experience was terrible. Food came out a different times and three of our steaks went back to the kitchen because they were very rare. They came back black and burnt on the outside. I sent an email to them and they did not even apologize for our experience. We will not be back. Too many other great options in Austin.

Will be back!!

By KAH |

We came here because it was highly recommended by a friend. And believe you me we were glad that we did. they have the table all nice and set up because it was our one year anniversary they had rose petals and little cut out hearts and stuff. They had a personalized card written to us. And that the end of it they gave us a complimentary dessert which was scrumptious. Our server Brandon was awesome and very informative and had great recommendations. We enjoyed our food Brussels sprouts were badass. Crab cake badass. The adult beverage named Maverick was very good as was the Mango muleNeedless to say we won't think twice about coming back to Eddie V's just be ready to pay top $$$$.

Must have lobster mac n cheese!

By Ashley A |

First off, Ken took amazing care of our group. He was very attentive, keeping our glasses filled and the table cleared as soon as we were done with each dish. We started with a few different appetizers: tuna tartare, crab cakes, calamari. The sauce on the calamari was so delicious and it was crisped perfectly. The crab cakes were packed with crab and lightly breaded. One of the guys ordered a lobster bisque and how it was delivered and poured in front of him was quite the experience. Ken told us that this was to keep the soup hot as it arrived to the table. Then we ordered entrees ranging from sole to filets. The fish was prepared with some yummy sauces. I was very happy with the Sole, it was perfectly crisp with a light sauce and tomatoes. We ordered brussels, truffle mac n cheese, asparagus and lobster mashed potatoes. I thought the potatoes would be weird however they were the BEST side dish we had. We then ordered a creme brûlée and banana fosters cake. The cake was caramelized at the table which was a great experience and also very delicious. You definitely only need a couple bites of this to satisfy your sweet tooth; coffee compliments this one so well. It was overall a great experience.

High quality consistency

Having dined at at least 4 locations across the country, dining here at the original location is nostalgic. Eddie Vs offers a consistently high level of food and white tux service no matter the location or destination. The menu, the service and the adult beverages will not steer you wrong for either date night or business dinners. It never fails to impress. Try the crab fried rice!

always good...always solid

eddie v is just always solid....upscale, consistent, if you don't really want a steak but a steak house type experience...boom

Delicious food and exceptional service

By Geoff |

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Food , wine and drinks were great but 5 star rating is based on the outstanding service we received from Corey. His recommendations were spot on. Crab cake appetizer and New York Strip for entree. Banana Foster for dessert. Highly recommend that when you visit Austin, make a reservation at Eddie V’s and ask for Corey!

The moment you walk in, you will fall in love...

By Jerseygirl Sharron |

....with the chill atmosphere, the soft lights and the jazz music playing quitely in the background. Order a drink at the bar while you wait for your table. Or simply have drinks and appetizers. The appetizers are unforgetable. It is truly a delightfull experience. The bartenders are attentive without being cloying. Everyone in this establishment does their job extremely well (most especially the chefs)! You feel pampered--and who does not love that? Thank you, Eddie V's, for all the wonderful times I have spent enjoying your amazing cuisine and pleasurable atmosphere.

Nailing it for Valentine's Day

By musictraveler40 |

Look, here's the scoop: If you can do the pricey dinner tab and have a date you want to woo The Right Way, then this is the place. Or at least one of The Places, let's put it that way. It's hard to get a vibe right for The Dinner Date experience (any kind or occasion), but these guys have it down. It's the original construction, but it's aged well. The decor is pretty timeless, the location is pretty prime. Booths, tables with a view, tables where you can sit side by side, like me and my Lady. Good cocktails. It's cozy, with a nice bar. But, it's a restaurant so let's get to the point. The food and the service, IMO, are amazing. The staff is personal and conversational, but they don't hover. They don't oversell. The food service itself, pretty flawless. It's a la carte and there are courses, so getting that timing right in a high-end restaurant is critical. These guys have it nailed. You get your appetizers, your second course, your main course, and it just kinda rolls for about two hours. The food quality is so on the money. I got an off-menu steak, they comp'd me some white cheddar potatos au gratin for a side, we started with some incredible oysters, a big crab cake and a couple of salads. The steak was badass. Fish looked really good. Steak was big, the temp was right where it shoulda been and this was a really big cut of meat. They did it as right as it could be done. So, like I said, this place is good. There's just super nice attention to detail, and the price is right where you'd expect it to be for four, five star, night out, fancy date joints. Your date will approve. What happens after that is up to you.

Honest Diner

By StraightShooter |

It was a quite unpleasant experience observing the tense/awkward interaction between staff and the miserable, female bartender on duty...it was like everybody in the place is afraid of her. And the bad vibe that dynamic creates is very noticeable. It was an uncomfortable thing to witness. And, her customer service was also, unfortunately, lowest level. The food itself, though, was pretty good...and I would be a frequent customer otherwise. But it’s a deal-breaker for me when you trot out an employee like that...to interact with the public...knowing very well what you’re doing.

ALWAYS AN OUTSTANDING DINING EXPERIENCE!!!

By Daryl H |

Eddie V's downtown Austin location consistently delivers a truly memorable up scale but never stuffy dining experience. Delicious chef inspired prime seafood offerings along with perfectly prepared prime steaks. Tasty appetizers and sumptuous desserts. Extensive wine list and well chilled cocktails. Their Hope Diamond Martini is fabulous. Jazz music in the V Bar. Gary at the bar and Luigi in the dining room deliver the very best attentive service for all customers who appreciate a first class experience. Valet parking available, and reservations are a MUST at this top rated Austin fine dining establishment. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Service, ambience, cuisine

By Joyce B |

Great "old school" steak and seafood restaurant. When I say old school I mean it in all the best possible ways. Quality, attentive service, great menu choices, great wine list, nice presentation. The decor is warm and wait staff very friendly. You will not be disappointed and they have valet parking which is nice in this busy area.

Above and beyond on service; great experience

By roadwarrierMD |

This is a classic upscale meat and fish place. I booked it because it was convenient to our hotel, but it exceeded my expectations. I did expect the old-school ambiance, and classic menu for this kind of place, but they really went above and beyond on the service side. I mentioned at check in that we were celebrating being with my pregnant daughter, and they treated us like royalty, including an unexpected flaming dessert—on the house! Food was great too. Enjoyed it thoroughly, you will too.

One of Austin’s best!

First time here. This is the original location. Very unique. Service was excellent. Place was packed at 7pm on a Thursday. Tuna tartare was very good. Seabass was excellent as was the shrimp. Steaks looked good too. Pricey but not break the bank. Worth it.

Wonderful

By Ian M |

The food, decor and service were wonderful. I had not realized that this was an upscale restaurant, but the expensive cars outside, the servers attire all clued me in. The bill was a bit high, but I enjoyed the experience.

The food, the servers, the hostesses…. Point on! One person at our table had the off menu special of Red Fish and she didn’t leave a morsel. I had the filet and it melted in my mouth! Our sides were incredibly fresh and fantastic. The sautéed spinach was fresh and beyond superb! We were not celebrating anything special; however, EVERYTHING about the night was special beyond words. The executive chef is over the moon amazing!! Eddie Vs on 5th in Austin, Texas NEEDS to be on visitors list of “must do” and a staple for anyone Austin!

Birthday Dinner

We went here to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday, and it was an amazing experience! Our server Joshua was incredibly patient with us while we were figuring out drinks & such. He brought tastings of wines cause my MIL couldn’t decide what she wanted. My son’s meal came out wrong (regular chicken instead of tenders) and before we could even bring it up Joshua noticed and got it sorted out. Everything was delicious and he really made it all amazing!

Best Steaks in Austin

Probably the best restaurant in Austin. Big thick steaks, big martinis and superior service. The staff is really great, too. Can’t best it! .

Great dining as always!

By perthprecious |

Eddie V's has the best crab cake! Generous potion, moist and delicious. Upscale, lively and great atmosphere. This location is the original Eddie V's which started in year 2000. Don't drive. Valet parking is the best option for this area. $15 is worth it! Or get Uber! My husband had the 22 oz ribeye. He loves his steak to be cooked PITTSBURGH (charred on the outside) medium rare. TRY IT! I had the Texas redfish with 2oz crab meat from their special. It was delightful. Same goes with their Brussel sprouts. Joshua was very attentive and efficient. Excellent service. Restaurant was busy that evening. Booking is essential.

We can't say enough good things about this restaurant! First, our server, Sama, was the best! He was very personable, and he was able to answer our many questions about the preparation of the meals. His suggestions were spot on. The food was fresh and delicious, from our appetizer of bluepoint oysters to the delightful Fuji Apple salad, to our Chilean Sea Bass and Texas Red Snapper entrees. All were outstanding! If we return to Austin, we'll definitely go back to Eddie V's!

We went here for a birthday dinner for my wife. We really were impressed with the ambience of the place. The service was very friendly and helpful. When we checked in they asked if it was for a special occasion and so I told them. When we went to our table they had a card at the table wishing her a happy birthday and it was signed by the staff! They also had covered the table with some rose petals! The food was well prepared and presented, and we were very full after eating it! Our meal was followed with a complimentary dessert for her birthday, and it was awesome! We hope to make a future return visit!

Easy walk from our Hilton hotel. Every staff member very friendly from the time we arrived until we left. We sat at a high top in the bar area. Fun environment with music. Our Servers were very attentive. We had the Lobster bisque, steak cooked medium plus which my husband loved and I had the scallops. Also had the spinach and Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend for any dinner occasion.

Piano Bar

By Kathy S |

For my birthday dinner, a friend recommended sitting in the piano bar area. So, yes, there is a 3 man piano band playing songs from the 60-70s I'd say. We sat at the table (4 top) right next to the band & it was great! Not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. He played HBD for me, we easily enjoyed the music. I'm 54. There was a 2 top table in a rounded alcove that faced the band area. The "other" side of the restaurant was large and pretty quiet, glad we were on the Piano Bar side. Truffle Mac N Cheese was the #1 thing on our table. Nice to get a premium glass of wine for $12 too! Valet was perfect $12, just gave a $20. Loved our experience.

Excellent food in a comfortable setting.

We enjoyed our meals here with a family group. The food was great, but a little pricy, but overall a good experience.

Still the best!

Had dinner at the other location last week. Great experience but not the best. This week, we had New Year's Eve dinner at this location. Perfectly wonderful! Our server, Krystal, was amazing. She was professional yet personable and she made our experience perfect. The food was amazing, as always. We had the Chilean sea bass, half a dozen oysters, the Fuji apple salad, Au Gratin potatoes and the absolutely wonderful bananas foster cake. Everything was so good! The drinks were also much better than the other location. The bartender really knows how to make a drink. I had an amazing lemon drop. This will be the only location we visit when we come to Austin. Eddie V's is still my favorite restaurant in the world.

Excellent Meal & Service

Since restaurants have started to reopen after Covid it has been difficult to find a restaurant that can prepare a strip steal charred and rare, Eddie V's is the exception,The steak 16 ounce bone in strip was broiled perfectly and seasoned extremely well. The service was excellent. Expensive, but worth it,

This is what a steakhouse should be!

Our hotel had called and made our reservation for us. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were given a table out of traffic and were surprised with rose petals on table. Our server Aaron was excellent. He did not rush us and gave us great insight into the menu. We went with two of the specials , filet mignon with creole shrimp and carpetbagger... fillet with fried oysters and bernaise. Both were cooked perfectly and were excellent. We also started the night with a seafood tower. Oysters , shrimp, and crab. Beautiful presentation and delicious! The night was finished with the restaurant sending us a plate of wonderful desserts with Happy Anniversary written on the plate.

Sweet. Goodness. Book a reservation

Sweet. Goodness. Book a reservation right now. Wow. This is one of the best meals I have had in my life. The drinks were delicious, the lobster bisque was creamy and tasteful, the George Banks scallops were life changing and the steak melted in your mouth. The sides of lobster mashed potato’s, truffle Mac and cheese and crab fried rice were also fantastic all to be finished off my delectable bananas foster (I don’t even like bananas!). Crystal was simply delightful, knowledgeable and kind. She along with the entire team made the entire experience so genuine and welcoming. Whenever I’m back in Austin, this will be my first stop for a meal!!! All the thumbs up for both food and employees (which are the heart of any business)!

Great Experience- Highly recommend you eat here.

Fantastic food and drinks with exceptional customer service! I had never been to an Eddie V's before. I didn't realize they had multiple locations in different cities. That's great-because I would happily go eat there again. We had an excellent meal and it was a lot of fun. Everything was perfect.

Are we being punked?

I’ve lived in Austin for 20 years and have been to Eddie V’s countless times under different names and have had consistently great service. Tonight was the absolute worst service. It was my mom’s birthday but: 1) one of our friends had sent a bottle of Kristal champagne upon arrival - but it wasn’t chilled or ready to be served 2) it took 40 minutes to place our drink orders + 30 minutes for arrival 3) the entire restaurant was out of French fries 4) general flow, clearing of plates, attention to detail was rock-bottom This was such a disappointing night.
