Amazing and unique Cafe

By Klaus F |

Phantastin diner with great breakfast. Outstanding pancakes and bacon together with endless coffee. And most of all beautiful warm and friendly people. We were treated like family. It's absolutely worth waiting for food.

Traditional breakfast dinner

By Joyce B |

Just what you need for a good breakfast to start your day in the city. Food is very good, waiters are friendly and prices are fair. It is the place to go when you need a descent bite and a good cup of coffee.

Pancakes and porkchops

Just stopped in this delightful spot for a perfect breakfast -- coffee, OJ, pancakes, hash browns, bacon, all perfectly prepared. Quirky decor, friendly service.

Love the neighborhood feeling

By DMSinYYC |

We were checking out the Painted Ladies (houses) and wandered down and found this little cafe by accident. The ambiance was pure neighborhood cafe and the service and food were just as wonderful.

Comfy neighborhood cafe

We always plan a visit to Eddie's when we stay in San Francisco on Baker Street, it's a quick walk to Eddie's for breakfast. LOVE the different mugs, and the family feel of the service and food. They are QUICK, ample portions, and delicious homemade items. NOTE: Eddie's does not take credit, debit or checks. They are a CASH only establishment. H

Late breakfast with family

Truly authentic diner for breakfast. Great food with warm and friendly service and the price was very good. It was full of locals too, who looked like they are regulars. Close to the Alamo too.

Good Food, Fun Atmosphere

The food was good, the service was excellent and the prices were GREAT! The menu was not overwhelming and most meals were $6-8/plate

Authentic American Diner Experience!

By Bazroy99 |

Like the complete tourists we were, we stumbled across this place and absolutely loved it. Big menu with every sort of combination of pancake, french toast, bacon, syrup under the sun with lots of coffee and crazy stuff on the walls!

Friendly neighborhood diner

By jeafrances |

Throwback to the way it used to be, friendly and fast service, fair prices, generous servings, basic breakfast food. nothing outstanding, just a comfortable place to eat breakfast. hopefully it stays the same.

Amazing food, but not the service...

By Athina J |

Don't try to go during the weekend, always full ! We've been waiting for 40 minutes, and decided to leave. We came back on tuesday, muche better, no waiting.

Delicious brunch

By CarolineFranklin |

I went to Eddie's diner for brunch which was authentic American breakfast cuisine including 'biscuits' which are crossed between bread and cake, a bit like scones but lighter, pancakes and eggs. The portions were big and the food hearty.

Standard Greasy Spoon Fair

By azzabar |

Our go to spot was closed the morning we stopped here. We had passed by Eddie's many morning's but never really gave them too much thought. The restaurant is smaller than small. So overtime we went by they were pretty full. The food was normal greasy spoon fair. Nothing to get excited about. I felt the biscuits were the microwave kind and the gravy was definitely out of a can. I was not impressed but my partner said for a standard breakfast he was okay with them. If left to me we would rarely return if we lived in SF. Give it a chance you might like them.

Unfortunate Experience

By R K |

I order a breakfast sandwich, which was made incorrectly twice. The owner offered to make the sandwich a third time which was nice but my family had finished their meals by then. I would recommend items off their main breakfast menu (pancakes, bacon, etc.). Also, very crowded..not recommended for a party of 5+.

Quick Breakfast

By godders2390 |

Nice, cheap and quick little breakfast spot. Some cool mugs for coffee and tea. Tasty eggs and fluffy pancakes. Friendly people.

Good breakfast

By wellTravelledPapa |

Breakfast in early afternoon. Excellent smooth coffee, very good pancakes, decent quality club sandwich (turkey, bacon, avocado & tomato) however Pork chops overcooked and tough, grits were okay and other persons waffle looked good. Good place for pancake eggs and meat combo. Establishment pretty clean for an old fashion 50's looking cafe. I would go back. ,

Delicious breakfast in a homey environment

By Michael Maurer |

We came here on our last morning in San Francisco. The place looks great on the inside, and the staff are extremely friendly and familiar with most of the customers. The food was delicious, and just what we wanted! Pancakes, sausages, eggs, potatoes.... you name it! Quick service. Cash only.

Good eats

By noriboy |

We were searching for a place on Divisadero where a slice of toast allegedly sells for $5, but it's really thick toast with lots of stuff slathered on it. We drove past the toast place and doubled back to find it. Instead, we found Eddie's. It looked like a real neighborhood cafe where locals might grab an unpretentious breakfast or lunch or hide out from hordes of tourists that descend on nearby Haight-Ashbury in search of souvenir t-shirts. The operators greeted us as graciously as they interacted with regular customers. When we heard James Brown "Get on the Good Foot," playing on their sound system, we knew this place had soul. We enjoyed omelets, eggs, biscuits, toast and hash browns. We debated whether to try their grits but weren't sure they would taste like our mama's; my brother and I grew up on grits in Georgia and have eaten a lot of bad grits in our travels outside the South. We loved that Eddie's serves coffee in mugs that might have come from yard sales. If we ever pass this way again, we'll be on the lookout for some good soul food, not far from a place where you can get a piece of toast for $5.

Treat you like Family...In a good way:)

By AndreaBenson |

Wow! Excellent from the time you enter, to the time you leave. Old timey breakfast joint with booths and a counters. Great family owned and operated. Very nice people who make you want to come back every morning. Great food, fast service and pricing is great.

Great lunch, traditional dinner.

By Officerdee |

Whilst walking from Golden Gate Park to Alamo Square we came across Eddies. Great find, traditional dinner with years of history behind it. Fantastic welcome from the staff. We had a mixture of sandwiches and the kids had waffles, all fresh and reasonable priced compared to elsewhere in SanFrancisco. Everyone loved finding somewhere authentic owned locally and decent serving for lunch.

Owners are very welcoming

By Annelies B |

The food is ok. The owners are very sweet and welcoming !! A recommendable authentic diner for a good lunch.

finally a real american breakfast

By dameiliya |

finally! as a tourist ive always wanted a typical american breakfast. the waiters are so nice. i ordered a shake, and because the cook made a bit more than fit in my glass, he gave me double the order for the price of one! i was super happy. what else would you want on a nice morning? the pancakes were great, the bacon tasted amazing.

Diner setting with homemade buiscuits!

By retiredandtraveling5 |

Great egg sandwiches (get it with the works... A BLT with eggs!) Old fashion breakfasts served with warm homemade buiscuits and huge link sausage and home fries! This family owned business opens at 8:30 am and serves breakfast until about 4 pm. It's super small... You might squeeze 6 people at one table... Maybe! Come early... There's always a line! No reservations accepted.

Great Breakfast cheap, cheap ,cheap

By ATLJIM |

This groovy unpretentious restaurant on Divisadero offers breakfast all day for really reasonable prices. It's billed as soul food on the menu, must be the "soul" of Asia as the entire staff is Asian...was kind of funny. Was great, downhome breakfast with "real" has browns, not quite scattered, smothered and covered and that's a good thing!!! Great neighborhood right around with shopping, etc.

Cute local corner stop

By neal h |

Basic, Clean, friendly and fast service exactly what we wanted Breakfast all day was our choice, 2nd breakfast is always good!

the right diner to feel happy at....

By OnlineConcierge |

cheap as hell, friendly as hell... I mean.. huge grins and smiles. Funny coffee cups mugs that you get... so every one is different. Great OJ. Simple breakfast. Teeny, but turns fast. That is 5 stars for a dive greasy spoon mom and pop. Not because it is Boulevard.

A Hidden Gem for Breakfast Lovers — Warm Welcome, Great Coffee, and Unique Sandwiches!

By matB |

Eddie’s Cafe is truly a hidden gem near Alamo Square. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed — the service is warm, friendly, and makes you feel like a local. The coffee is excellent, rich and flavorful, and just what you need to kickstart your day. But the real highlight? The sandwiches! They are generous in size, made with fresh ingredients, and so much more creative than your average breakfast sandwich. If you’re looking for a place with great vibes, hearty portions, and fair prices, don’t miss Eddie’s Cafe. Highly recommended!

Don't understand the hype

By Nat17Nat |

Long Wait, Cold food, too salty and smaller than expected portions. I think they may have become a victim of there own success, it appears that the quality of service and food is suffering due to the number of customers. I would imagine there a better options nearby. Not good for us.

The best local dinner

By Roger Pszonowsky |

A local hot spot for simple food, Eddies is small, simple and affordable. Food is great (granddaughter loves the pancakes) but the friendly staff (say hi to Johnnie) make it a nice place

Eddie's Cafe

By Damien |

A good simple breakfast at a great price. The grits and biscuits were delicious. The waitress gave me a hug goodbye!

Back to the 60ties

By ZioNaturale |

Fascinating small cafe where you feel back in the 60ies. Small Menu but everything is very good and tasty. Loved the pancakes and the different funny cups.

A quick breakfast

By crazy4hawgs |

We were looking for "real" breakfast food after two days of rushing out of our rental unit. Eddie's was a short walk from our rental. I loved the coffee cup collection, used to serve the guests. I appreciate the whimsy. Our breakfasts were flavorful, served quickly and hot. We'd eat there again in a heartbeat.

Old school diner

By Alison B |

This place was within walking distance from my hotel and had good reviews with decent prices, so I decided to try it. It is incredibly small, with only a handful of tables that fill up rather quickly. We were able to get in and get a table right after they opened, but they soon became very busy. I ordered an omelette, which was very good and cooked just right. My son ordered french toast, which was ok but a little soggy. Overall, this place was good and reminded me of an old fashioned diner. The service was friendly and the prices are pretty unbeatable in San Francisco.

The best place ever

By oscar.v |

The best place in San Francisco I went there to eat a brunch and it was the best one I ever had The people here are just incredible and the place itself is fantastic I recommend and will recommend it everyday of my life (I'm not payed to say this)

Great Dinner for Breakfast

By christopher w |

Was in SF for a week and staying near by. Wander into Eddie's and so glad I did went back several time for Breakfast. Really old school dinner serving great america style breakfasts I had waffle/pancake with eggs and bacon. The Koren lady beding the counter is super friendly and efficent. Seems like they have alot of regulars which is always a good sign.

Experience a local American breakfast

By Sophie d |

This is a great place to start the day when you come to visit SF if you're staying in the area. The pancakes are delicious and it has a true American diner feel.

Nice place

By Peggy W |

Eddies is located near family we were visiting. Diner type breakfast with good, hot coffee. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ate here two times during our visit and will go again next year. Fun decor.

EDDIE'S SOUL FOOD / Eddie's Cafe

By Jim_Naughton |

Don't know where the Soul Food part of the cafe's name came from. When I walked into this spot on the corner of Fulton and Divisidero I suppose I imagined I'd hear Carla Thomas wailing away on the radio, and see a stand-in for Aretha Franklin at the grill cookin' a mess of grits and greens and hog maws while a George Jefferson lookalike cannily played the cash register like a piano in a St. Louis speakeasy. But the folks at Eddie's Soul Food Cafe are of Asian heritage. Perhaps it's Asian soul food they offer, (Seoul food?) or more likely, it's just an old sign on the window from an earlier era of sixties cultural and ethnic pride. Whatever its ethnicity, I ordered ham and eggs and potatoes and rye toast and coffee. Cindy got a glass of water and a short stack of pancakes. Allie just ordered a cup of coffee. We weren't really in a mood for a lot of happy chit chat that morning, as my wife and I were leaving San Francisco in just a few minutes, and this would be our last opportunity to see and hear and hold our dear eldest daughter, at least for a while. We tried to keep it light, but you know how that goes. it was just pretty quiet. My eggs were fine and the service was super speedy and the meal was inexpensive. I only wish we had discovered Eddie's five days previously. Cindy's pancakes were light and fluffy, yet she did not feel like finishing them. I took a few snaps inside the restaurant as the seconds ticked by, heralding our moment of parting. Eddie's has a nice little collection of hand drawn celebrity portraits, perhaps done by the local clientele (Joan Crawford was a standout, though I doubt she ever dined here, under any circumstance, in any incarnation, in any phase of her life, ever). One minor annoyance occurred at this point, so I will need to vent for a moment here (and I hope you read this, young man). I was attempting to focus on the portraits, which were across the room, high on a far wall, and to do so without a flash, so as not to disturb the other customers. As I lifted the camera to look through the camera's viewfinder, in my peripheral vision I noticed a couple of young men in the booth to my left (out of frame). One of these chaps was trying to be clever insomuch as he kept pretending to scratch the side of his head closest to me, repeatedly, with an extended middle finger while innocently perusing the menu, like the Monk's waitress in "Seinfeld" did to the George Costanza character so famously. The finger was meant for me. I guessed in his tiny little mind he thought I was trying to take a surreptitious photo of a real, live, San Francisco male couple, or whatever. And by golly would I ever get a shock when I finally saw the photos when I got back home to Eggstain, Ohio! So I set him straight by telling him I was trying to get a shot of Joan Crawford, not him, and to please get over himself. Allie was incensed by this guy and shot him a few eye daggers. As for me, on the way out, I paused by his table, leaned over (did he actually flinch?) and whispered in his ear..."That was very rude". I'd give Eddie's Five out of Five for food and Service. But lose a star for customer behavior affecting family parting moment.

Charming American style breakfast grill.

By CafeLehn |

This restaurant\diner on up and coming Divisadero, is a Japanese-American owned American style breakfast gril, with a multicultural following. It is in essence diner food with outstanding breakfast biscuits, spicy rosemary sausage and the expected classic egg and pancake offerings one craves for when in America. The service is warm and they remember your face and previous order when one returns. Decor is quickly where a multicultural 1950's intersects local neighborhood cultural interests wrapped in a unique jewelbox of a diner experience. Take the freshly baked biscuit option. Espresso lovers may want a latte before entering, and might want to pass on the cup of coffee. The waitresses will charm you. And you will want to return.

Great Breakfast Spot

By jbliv |

Eddie's is great little neighborhood diner. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was cooked just as I ordered it -- well done bacon! The pancakes were delicious. They serve coffee in random mugs. They must have hundreds in their collection displayed behind the counter. If you're staying in the area and want an easy, reliable spot, Eddie's is it.

We had breakfast here TWICE!

By Mascalzone |

Located near Alamo Square, Eddie's seems unchanged from the 1960's: counter & revolving stools, faded red booths and a short order cook visible in the back. We were lucky and managed to nab a choice booth at the window both for two mornings and were very impressed with the friendly service, fabulous breakfasts and reasonable prices. Crispy hash browns (grated and prepared on the premises, not frozen), perfect eggs, homemade biscuits and endless coffee. My bacon was prepared crisp, just the way I like it! The place looked very clean, service is quick and with a smile. We hope this place never changes! We'll definitely stop by our next visit to San Francisco.

They had me at Breakfast All Day

By Shoefella |

SF has changed, this neighborhood in particular, NOPA, with a accordingly chic NOPA restaurant. Eddie's is old school without being kitsch or manufactured, and reminds me of days gone by, and gone. It's the real deal with a limited menu with a bias toward pancakes. I was tempted to give it 5 stars, but the food is very good, prepared and tastes probably like it did when the place first opened, nothing fancy, but totally solid and price is right for what is now one of the most expensive cities in the country.

Great little diner

By Amy P |

We thoroughly enjoyed our French Toast. It's a small family run restaurant with nice servers and good, home style food. Nothing frou, frou here except the wonderful amount of whipped cream they put on the hot chocolate. Great spot for breakfast.

A good brunch at the Eddie's Cafe,Divisadero St ,San Francisco

By harikn |

After a visit to the Alamo Park nearby , we visited the Eddie's Cafe for a brunch. This corner cafe located at the road junction of Divisadero and Fulton Street is a small but cozy joint with limited seating , may be for about 20 people. We Ordered Omelette with avocado and French Toast along with Coffee. The food was well cooked and the Coffee was great. Good service and average ambiance. Good overall experience.

Classic Diner experience

By Andy_B_Solihull |

Called in here after visiting the Painted Ladies in Alamo square and had a great experience. The staff are friendly, chatty and welcoming while the food is top notch. Good to be in a local one-off place rather than a chain establishment. Would recommend if you are nearby.

Cute breakfast spot

By Wismickchick |

We are from out of town and were walking from Alamo Square to Golden Gate Park and happened upon this cozy little cafe. We were warmly welcomed and luckily there was a free table as it is a VERY small cafe. Our coffee was brought in these cute mugs and were refilled many times during our breakfast (our cup was never empty). We had omelets, bacon, and biscuits. The breakfast was very good. It was nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. We loved the staff and the cozy feel of this diner.

Eddie's happened to be very near our vacation rental, and we felt right at home! Good diner-type breakfast, good coffee, friendly servers, funky décor. And reasonable prices. What else could an out-of-town guest hope for?

A good 1960's decor of a cafe

By Kevin K |

Good milk shakes and omeletes! It gave a much of a 60's diner, small little place that uses sports mugs to serve their coffee. :)

Great Brunch!

By Emma Darling |

Went for a quick brunch and it was great, nice staff, clean, toilets, good food. Had amazing waffles great for family’s and not very expensive.

There were exposed eggs sitting outside the public bathroom!

By Michelle_2001 |

We went to this restaurant on 8/7/15 for breakfast and we had a pretty good breakfast until when we got up and paid our bill we all went to use the restroom before leaving the restaurant and my son pointed out the eggs that were in a box that said "Store below 45 degrees", and the box was open with exposed eggs just sitting there right where you open and close the bathroom door. The eggs were on the public side- they were NOT anywhere near the kitchen. Will we call food establishment inspection?...Absolutely.

Over rated breakfast place

By londoner810508 |

There was nothing special we ordered vegetable omelette and they filled up with onions which was raw and pepper so I couldn’t eat raw onions early in the morning, we also ordered pancake which they serve with cheap hotel jams the coffee cups are chipped so be careful don’t cut your lips. It wasn’t hygienic place. I wouldn’t go there ever again

Grits!

By A B |

Great breakfast joint for the basic dinner fare. Really good grits and pancakes. Coffee just right, endless cup. Prices decent for San Fran! I'd go back after a night out or the morning after a long night, hit the spot.

Visited this place on a Wednesday morning around 9:00. Small place, but walked right in. Food was excellent and the owners were very attentive and quick to help us. Food was done within 7 minutes of ordering. Very good! Would be worth waiting in line for as well if needed. Cash only, but they have an ATM machine inside
