We love breakfast and are always on the look out for a new spot. Well, when taking a different route home I spotted the restaurant and put it on our list to check out. We did and we were not disappointed. A great menu with delicious food awaited us. We had Shakshuka and a create your own scrambler. Interestingly they provide English muffins rather than other bread products, which were great. Even their Harbor Roast Coffee was quite good. So with great food, friendly & efficient service in a lovely setting all make this a top breakfast spot! Check it out - you’ll like it.

This restaurant was a great find for breakfast in downtown Chicago. The service was superb. All waitstaff apparently assist if they aren’t busy. It was like a pit crew approach to service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The menu was great with a large selection of gluten free options available for one in our party. The coffee is excellent here! We went twice to eat breakfast here to make sure our observations were accurate. They were just as good on my second trip! It is refreshing to see a restaurant with employees well trained in customer service and great food to match.

Egg Harbor was on the list of neighborhood restaurants, given to us at our hotel. My daughter and I shared the strawberry cream cheese crepes combo off the seasonal menu it was delicious. My husband had the garden scrambler, which he enjoyed. I also had a hazelnut latte and it was so good. The staff was very attentive and the service was great!

First thing to say is that the coffee is good here, and the decaf for those that need it is outstanding. The cuisine is American breakfast perfected, everything was good apart from the house potatoes, which were just about OK, nothing more, so underdelivered on expectations. Chicago has lots of great breakfast venue, and potatoes apart, this one is up there with the best.

Great breakfast, modern facility. Had a Saturday morning brunch and it was very popular, always a good sign. Had to wait 20 mins or so but their system was slick so never felt that long. Had their omelette with vegetables, very good. Gave it 4 stars only because it is a rather modern cafe environment rather than a more atmospheric US diner but would definitely go back

While visiting Chicago, I visited this place twice for breakfast and each time had spectacular skillets with perfectly cooked potatoes and eggs. Would definitely visit again.

Eating breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe on East Illinois in Chicago this morning. Love the fact that they have calories for all their dishes listed on the menu. Welcomed at entry by a very upbeat person -- the exactly right person to have in that position. Had an equally upbeat and friendly server (Jacqueline). Ordered the Dynamic White Omelette which was very good. I would eat here again. There's an online waitlist if you go during a busy time. Covid practices are in place in terms of sterilizing of tables and menus and plexiglas installed in some places.

The staff was great and accommodating and the food was good, many options in case you feel like egging :)

We were staying at the Intercontinental and looking for a breakfast spot. We went to Egg Harbor Cafe. The place was packed. I looked online before going and you could put your name in online for a spot in line. This saved us a ton of time waiting. The food was all very good and served fresh. With them being busy the food took a while to get. Once we had our food our serve was nowhere to be found. They were under staffed for sure. We enjoyed our meal and will check it out again.

Food was delicious!!!! Service was fast and efficient. Love the ambiance and location. We visited here on a anniversary trip and really enjoyed ourselves.

Breakfast today with the wife. It is reay nice here. food is good. nice atmosphere and not bad prices. I would come here again.

They are gluten free friendly with a whole gluten free menu. Amazing! The food is delicious. We got there early and were seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Our food was brought out super quick. I got the omelet with avocado and bacon. Fruit was fresh and delicious. My daughter got the hot cocoa pancakes and loved them. We could only eat half of our meals as they were so filling. We will be back.

My husband and I were in Chicago visiting my son and he recommended we go to this place for breakfast as he and his girlfriend have eaten here several times. We were seated outside which we asked but it was a bit chilly I just didn't want to be a pain and move inside. The weird thing is one person sat us gave us silverware, one person took our drink order and delivered it then another person took our food order and yet another person delivered our food, which was delicious. We had the lobster scrambler, the texas french toast, the habanero hash $ eggs and the quinoa skillet all dishes were a good sized portion and very filling. Our actual server was Isaac D so I am hoping the tip went to him as he did the most unless since Covid you pool tips and everyone shares, which I would understandd as business is still not back to normal. I did go inside to use the restroom and the inside was decorated very farmish with alot of windows looking outside which had a nice view all around. The food was very good, everyone practiced their social distancing skills and wore masks and when I went in to use the restroom they took my temperature which was totally fine with me. I would recommend this place for any type of food as my son said everything he has ever tried had been exceptional.

Great breakfast spot. Terrific service. Lots of delicious options for breakfast. Convenient to downtown hotels. I had eggs benedict and it was delicious. I wish there was a place like this near where Iive!

So good we ate here 3 times during our short trip to Chicago! Lots of gluten free options, which was a huge plus for us. We had breakfast twice and lunch once. Service was wonderful and food was fantastic! We had everything from omelets to eggs benedict to sandwiches and soup to pancakes and everything in betwen. The gluten free cinnamon rolls are AMAZING!! I can't recommend Egg Harbor Cafe enough. Seriously, go!

We visited on a Monday morning and it was not very busy. We had Bloody Mary's and a strawberry mimosa and Eggs Benedict and the cinnamon bun pancakes. Amazing! Everything was delicious and the portions large. The waitress was very attentive and offered help when we couldn't decide what to order because everything looks great. Easy location from Michigan Ave.

Great place to have a breakfast. Food was delicious and healthy. Nice prices. Restrooms were clean. Jaime was really nice to us.

Our group of 4 came here on the second day of our holiday visiting from Scotland. With a busy day exploring ahead we needed sustenance! And boy, we were not disappointed. Elizabeth was our server and she was fabulous from start to finish. Recommending her favourite drinks and dishes we each chose something different to try as much as possible. An extensive menu AND a specials menu meant we were spoiled for choice. The best tea we had on our entire trip with extra hot water provided, without having to ask, so we could prolong our cuppa! Great food, great atmosphere and super great service we went back on our last morning as we wanted our last memories to be perfect. And they were. Thank you all. Oh and our newly purchased Egg Harbour cups will keep the memories going!

A MUST ! All 4 of us had something different. I had the meaty mixed skillet, it was really delicious and set me up for the day, the rest had French Toast and Panckackes. Everyone agreed their breakfast was top notch. We were in at 8.20 am on a Sunday and it was busy ! Really polite staff and offered us free take away coffee when leaving . Great Place

Great food, great location (just off the magnificent mile), and genuinely great service! (thank you Christian and thank you Jamie!) This was my regular morning visit whilst on a business trip to Chicago and I genuinely have nothing but praise. I was treated warmly every morning, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, spacious and nice and bright. The coffee is AWESOME! The food and service matched. I definitely recommend any of the avocado toasts (I don’t think I’ve ever seen avocado so smooth!!)… I also tried the porridge oats with berries… again, just the right portion, great flavor and well presented! Thank you and it’s a definite thumbs up from me! 👍

This place has waitlist available. Just call & prompts will take you to waitlist & you will be texted with time. Excellent food & quick service.

I’ve visited Egg Harbor Cafe twice and will continue to go back because of their consistency. Great food, quick service and nice atmosphere.

Came in for a breakfast a couple of times. Plenty of options. Not cheap. Most dishes are between $15 and $20, so with a drink, taxes and the tip, you will spend around $30 per person. Excellent and fast service.

The food was very good, the service was great and they are very careful with gluten allergies. Our daughter who is GF said these are the best GF pancakes she has ever had. We had a mix of skillets, frittatas, waffles and gluten free food. Everyone loved their food. Isaac was our server and he was great! Very friendly, good service and very accommodating when we asked questions about allergies. Gluten free food comes out on a green plate to indicate allergy.

From the time we arrived, service was spot on. The hostess asked if we had any gluten allergies and provided me a GF menu. She noticed me looking longingly at a different table and offered it to us before we were seated. The GF avocado toast with fig balsamic drizzle was delicious. Everyone else was also happy with their dishes. A wonderful way to start a day exploring Chicago.

Great place for a family breakfast /lunch. Fresh and tasty. All freshly made, their orange strawberry juice was very good with the avocado toast. All or almost all is including egg and milk but vegetarians who're OK with that should have plenty of options.

Family members who live nearby love their early weekend morning visits to the newest location of this clean, airy, family-friendly breakfast and lunch café. Staff greet you with a smile and show you to your seat. Booth seating as well as table & chairs are available. We enjoyed hot, fresh, strong coffee (by the pot!) from roaster, Big Shoulders while reviewing the extensive menu options. I chose a Dynamite Veggie White Omelette, mixed fruit bowl and whole wheat English Muffin with house-made jam. The meal was well-prepared, BIG and flavorful! I ended up taking some home. Note that caloric counts are included on the menu too which is nice. I understand that as weekends go, the later one arrives the more crowded it understandably becomes. Coffee service is evidently available during those longer table wait. That’s a nice touch too. I will return to Egg Harbor Café again soon! They’re too many great options to try!

Lovely city view location, open space, comfortable, friendly, wide range of food, breakfast / brunch a must, skillets are awesome!

Tucked away behind the Intercontinental Hotel Magnificent Mile we were alerted to this cafe by the concierge. We turned up just before opening on Memorial Day weekend to have the place to ourselves. By the time we left it was heaving with a long queue. The reason for this popularity is down to the food. There is a great choice from breakfast standards though to brunch and lunch. Service is excellent but not hurried. Portions are well-sized. Prices are more than reasonable

Excellent restaurant for family breakfast, line was 20 minutes, no reservation needed , very friendly people

Service offering is unimpressive. There is poor communication between the staff who take food orders and the staff who deliver the food to the table. On numerous occassions, food preferences are mixed up and time is wasted to correct the orders. Management does not apologize. Some staff make you feel rushed to pay the bill, which affects the dining experience. Children are allowed to disturb patrons with loud noise, yelling, and kicking seats. It's a shame some parents do not teach their children manners when inside a restaurant, especially in downtown. Management does not intervene.

Great food and staff! Cinnamon swirl pancakes and banana bread French toast were crazy good. Glad we stopped here and recommend.

Arrived ten minutes after opening. Pleasant and attentive waiting staff. Spacious ambiance. Breakfast order was served Luke Warm which made it unpalatable. Waiteress was very apologetic and replacement was brought out swiftly but something to be noted.

Egg Harbor by far is on the gems of the Streeterville area of Chicago. The first morning there I had an outstanding Belgian Waffle and on the second morning there I had a delicious plate of French Toast. Egg Harbor has an excellent hard working staff and the food was delivered to the tables on a very timely manner. Thank you so much Egg Harbor

In town for the restaurant convention and stopped by because I’d read they have a great GF menu, I was so impressed! The gluten free cinnamon roll was to die for and the entree portions were huge! (I almost wish the pancake stack wasn’t so huge so I’d have room to try more things!!) They had a separate dedicated GF menu that had two full pages of options/plenty of choices. Overall great food and great experience, would return again (even if just to get a mountain of GF Cinnamon rolls!!)

Absolutely love this place. Food always amazing. Don’t want to go anywhere else for breakfast. Staff always friendly and the service is good

Breakfast for two ended up costing $42, but it was excellent. I had the red velvet French toast. Totally out of this world. Our waitress was fantastic as well. Definitely a place to stop for breakfast when you’re in Chicago.

We ate at Egg Harbor for breakfast while visiting Chicago. All of our meals were good and service moved us to five stars. I love that you can check-in online to be added to the waitlist.

We ate here for two separate mornings because it was so good. I had the breakfast skillet and there is endless amounts of combinations that you can do. They fill it to the top. The fruit was fresh and sweet. The waffle was good. Avocado toast was good. The loose leaf tea was delicious and served with fresh honey. They have a small coffee bar on the front. Sometimes there is a wait, but they move people in and out pretty quickly. All the staff were very courteous and prompt.

We had a wonderful gluten free breakfast here - best pancakes ever!! The complimentary add ins were a nice surprise and the crisp bacon was actually crisp - which seems to be something that is hard to order and have it arrive that way! Am ordering some of the mix they use for their pancakes today!

Horrible customer service! I've been trying to get a copy of a receipt for weeks and the team continues to place me on hold for over 30 minutes. When I asked for the best time to call, the person told me to call at 2p which is when the restaurant closes. Based on the expensive prices, I would expect the food and customer service to be better. Apparently Nicole Passeralla is the manager who likes to avoid management duties, including simple customer service. Also the parking is HORRIBLE!!! I recommend finding a better restaurant to eat breakfast.

Quick summary: excellent spot for various breakfast items, i.e. egg dishes. pancakes, etc. Minor slip up in the kitchen ("build your own" lacked requested item;) IMHO, coffee should be stronger. Friendly, professional service. Sunny dining room. We stopped here for breakfast while staying in town. My husband and I were mostly in the mood for eggs, although the pancakes and other breakfast items were very enticing. Most breakfast plates with be in the $mid-teens to $20. My husband had the Sir Dugan frittata ($16.50), and I had the "build your own" egg scramble that I requested with onions, peppers, and mushrooms ($16). Both dishes came with home fry-type potatoes that were very good, and toast. All was tasty and freshly prepared. Bottomless coffee pot is $4.30 each. So why only 4 dots? Small-ish things. The mushrooms requested for my eggs were MIA. I didn't bring it to the attention of the waitstaff so that I could be on the same time schedule as my husband, who was also served. IMHO, the coffee should be stronger and hotter - in a breakfast-focused place, this is a big deal to me. The room is sunny and airy - a good place to wake up in the morning. Friendly, professional service does a good tag-team waiting on diners. So - we'd be happy to the return, perhaps to try other items, but even happier if they could fix a few areas that have "room for improvement." I have my eye on the pancakes or oatmeal with fresh fruit.

Such a great brunch place. It's crowded, so take advantage of the electronic wait list on their web site. And it's totally worth it. My wife had the tradition breakfast w tasty maple glazed bacon. One daughter had creme brulee waffles. Sweet but tasty. Then there were cinnamon swirl pancakes. And I had a chicken chili w eggs for a savory finish. Service was great and friendly. Was an excellent way to start our day.

A Wednesday morning sit down breakfast for family of 4 which was tough to find in downtown Chicago. Our hotel's restaurant (Omni) plus Marriotts were both closed (what??!) so we went on a hunt to find breakfast where we could sit and order something nice - i.e., not starbucks. Even another highly rated breakfast/brunch place called Lux Cafe was closed. Disappointed and hungry, we finally found Egg Harbor and waited awhile but it was worth it. Cinnamon Roll French Toast was wonderful. Barrington Benedict was also great. The house made strawberry-orange juice was delicious! We all appreciated this place and would go back! Highly recommend

This place is excellent for breakfast in Chicago, the food is very tasty and the attention of all its team was extraordinary.

Great, tasty Gluten free options with dedicated Glenn free menu. Friendly, efficient service. Zack made the experience. Central location

I had researched Chicago gluten free eateries and was so glad to be able to have breakfast here twice on our visit from Ireland. Others in my group had non GF foods which were equally scrumptious 😋 Every dish is delightful - the coffee is so good! And the staff are just wonderful. My only regret is that I didn’t get to try more of the options but I’ll just have to plan a return trip. Bravo!

Great breakfast options with a lot of Gluten Free options. The GF cinnamon roll was great. My mom loved the lemon poppy seed pancakes. Highly recommend.

Very welcoming and great atmosphere!!!Service was excellent and attentive. Food was amazing and came out pretty quick and hot. The fancy coffee was delicious as was the hot chocolate! Whenever we have guests we go here for breakfast-we’ve been here three times consistent and wonderful

A very good place for breakfast. Their scrambles eggs with lobster was very good, and the scillets were good as well. Wide and exiting menu options.

My 2nd visit this morning was every bit as wonderful as the first which was a month ago. Very nice selection of unique and adventuresome breakfast items. I had the salmon egg Benedict and it was outstanding. My wife loved the quinoa power bowl. I’ve had similar and they were bland. Hers was excellent. Our server was professional, friendly and fun. Will return and encourage others to do the same.

We got the blueberry pancakes, French toast and sausage and my teen wanted a chicken sandwich for breakfast…don’t ask-I have no answer. This place serves a ton of food. It was all really good. Sausage was a bit spicy. Pancakes turned out to be wheat, not regularly Krustez pancake mix (I know this because their regular pancakes said they were wheat, I could see the wheat flecks, and I can’t eat that much fiber without repercussions). The waitress assured me they were regular old pancakes, but I beg to differ. They were good, just beware if you can’t have that much fiber.

came here for brunch with my fiancé. food was so slay. coffee & brunch were 👌🏽 would definitely go again!!!

Very good but it is advisable to reserve because the waiting line is long, but the place is very nice, everything looks very delicious.

We came here for breakfast. I had the avacado on toast with tomatoes and 2 eggs. It also came with a bowl of fruit. My partner had eggs Benedict. Food was delicious. Good coffee too and very pleasant waitress called Lisa.

This was a close enough walk from the Marriott Courtyard and off the beatin' path of Michigan Avenue. The staff was helpful and friendly and made good recommendations and kept the coffee coming. Wide variety of food choices for various food preferences or eating styles (gluten-free, keto etc)

When we lived in the burbs, we used to go to Egg Harbor every weekend. Missed it when we moved to the Loop. So glad they are here. Everything is great, especially their pancakes. Must try.

Coffee was really bitter, poached eggs were over cooked. Waitress said if I want a nice coffee order a Latte:) There are better places for breakfast around here . Go to YOLK on Grand

We were a group of 16 on a Saturday, I called about an hour ahead and although they don't take reservations they told me they would try to accomodate us, and they did with two tables for 8 side by side. Thanks for that! Extensive menu, something for everyone. Everyone seemed happy with their choices. Service was very prompt considering our group size. Coffee could have been stronger but that's a personal thing. The restaurant is a fairly good size with high ceilings. Noisy but not to the point where you could hear conversations. The location is about a block off Michigan Ave and a short walk to the bridge area where the boat tours leave from, which many of us were doing right after.

This restaurant just opened at the end of October, and it is already really popular. There is a good reason for that: their food is fantastic. Generous portions of tasty food served up hot and fast. For breakfast I had the Autumn special called Handler, which was bacon, Canadian bacon, fried egg, swiss cheese and tomato on a pretzel roll. It tasted as good as it looked. The egg scrambles were full of vegetables and meat. The food was served up fast, even on a busy Sunday morning. The staff were all super friendly. Can't wait to return to this hidden gem.

We went on a Sunday and forgot to do our prior reservation and hence had to wait for about an hour. More so coz there was a huge crowd from the Marathon. It is a lovely place to have breakfast. Their Strawberry French toast is to super delicious.

The food is absolutely delicious and the service is friendly and quick. What more can I say.... this is a wonderful dining experience!

Egg Harbor Cafe launched its breakfast/lunch chain in 1985 in Hinsdale, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. Then they opened locations in two other Chicago suburbs, Lake Forest and Arlington Heights. Today, they have 16 locations in the Chicago area. They also have outlets in Wisconsin and Georgia. But this is the first time Egg Harbor Cafe has ventured into downtown Chicago. What took so long? Located at 220 East Illinois Street, in the Streeterville neighborhood, east of Tribune Tower, this casual daytime dining chain serves American comfort food in family-friendly surroundings. Open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, it serves breakfast and lunch dishes all day. Start with Egg Harbor's signature beverage, a delicious concoction called strawberry orange juice. My wife had an Original Belgian Waffle topped with powdered sugar with two scrambled eggs and sausage. I started with a bowl of berry-old oatmeal with blackberries, blueberries and all-natural granola with a wheat English muffin, house-made jam, brown sugar and skim milk. A healthy meal in itself. But don't stop there. I finished with a Barrington Benedict, Egg Harbor's version of traditional Eggs Benedict, with an English muffin, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and paprika. Next time I'll have to try the house-made corned beef hash with green peppers and onion. In the meantime, please pour me another glass of strawberry orange juice.

Egg Harbor offers a great selection of fine American breakfast dishes. Nice and fast service. Central location.

The lattes are delish. All food is very fresh and cooked perfectly. If breakfast was this good I can't imagine how good lunch would be. I only wish there was one of these cafes in my state. Loved loved loved it! Very huge portions so come hungry.

My mom and sister had eaten here prior to taking me there. They both said it was a good variety of menu items. My mom raved about the Gourmet Hot Chocolate. The restaurant itself is very clean and modern with that farmhouse look. We were seated right way; however, my sister was telling me that they have a online waiting list that you can get on ahead of time if there is a wait. So definitely check that out prior to visiting. The service was excellent, very attentive. We had many different servers check on us throughout our meal which was appreciated, as we did have an overcooked English muffin that needed to be replaced as well as a water pitcher a few times too. Overall, price was about what you can expect for a upscale Chicago breakfast. The food wasn't anything spectacular, but was served very timely and warm. I thought their menu was massive, and will have to go back again to try out some other menu items I thought would be quite tasteful. I ordered an omelette and pancake. Other items ordered at the table included: eggs Benedict, skillet, and cinnamon roll french toast. Everyone enjoyed their meal! 100% would recommend for a good breakfast/brunch.
Great place for breakfast
You have to wait to get a table and the entrance is chaotic. No one tells you to add your name to waiting list but I worked it out. I got seated, service was very quick. They give you a mug and coffee pot but a tiny jug of cream. Food was very good and was delivered quickly. Wait staff are very friendly.
