We had an amazing dining experience at El Compadre! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waiter was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and quick to recommend some of their best dishes and drinks. Speaking of drinks, they were so much fun! Don’t miss the flaming margarita! Everything was perfectly crafted and added to the festive vibe of the evening. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor, from the fresh guacamole to the perfectly seasoned tacos and enchiladas. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of care into their dishes. To top it all off, the prices were incredibly reasonable for the quality and portions. It’s rare to find a place where you get this level of service, taste, and value all in one. I can’t wait to go back when we visit LA again! Highly recommend El Compadre for a fantastic Mexican dining experience.

Good food, good service, but not so good atitude. They offer you free photo, then try to sell you more photos, and if you don't want to buy them, they kind of pressure you to exchange them for a review on TRIPADVISOR, asking you to show them your review, which is private. That is how they got their 5 stars. The place is good, and understand they want to promote it, but are pushing too much in their marketing strategy. Also I think the ambience is not apropriate for families with children.

I don't have much to say honestly, by far one of the best restaurants in L.A. period. Live music, great drinks/food and service. Old style feel with ultra comfortable booths and high chairs. Just go, you won't regret it at all. Oh and to boot, the prices to what you receive in taste and quantity is also amazing.

Because of the rating of this restaurant and the proximity to Downtown, I made a point to swing by to get lunch, to-go, before I had to head to a work event. They have a parking lot behind the building and I easily found a spot. When I went in, there were three gentleman working and all three offered to help me during my time there. I got the Asada fries and drank one of their famous flaming margaritas while I waited. The margarita was excellent and the fries was a huge portion but so tasty. The service was good, the portion size is ample (plus they gave me chips and salsa) and I highly recommend.

El Compadre is a lively and authentic Mexican restaurant with great food and fun atmosphere. The dishes are flavorful and satisfying. Friendly service and live music make it a great spot for night out!

Somewhat Late nite Mexican restaurant open closed at 10 but if business is slow they have tendency to close early this happened to us once came here around 9 they said they was closed. They have great atmosphere music and a place you can enjoy your lunch/dinner. Food is really good highly recommend the chicken taquitos. Parking is $5 BTW somewhat difficult to find parking in area due to community and other businesses.

This restaurant was great. A perfect pitstop before the Dodgers game. We also have to ability to take photos for postcards to send to family. Be sure to take some photos for yourself when you visit.

Came here with my girlfriend and had a great time! We ordered micheladas, enchiladas, and tamales which were all yummy. The photographer came by and took cute photos of us which was also a plus. Highly recommend! Such a fun vibe and fast service.

Some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. The chips and salsa were very good. I had the chicken enchiladas. The server was friendly and pointed out things he recommended on the menu. I would definitely eat here again.

This nice place looks like many, "typical/authentic" styled Mexican, bright coloured walls. While the Chimichanga was dried out. The service was quick and really very friendly.

Outstanding meal on our last night in US during family Vacation from UK. Great food, albeit it very big portions! However, we found all portions were huge in US during our trip. Lovely atmosphere (live band playing) and the restaurant was bustling. Excellent night.

We brought our son in law and daughter here for his birthday dinner. He wasn’t aware that the restaurant was top rated on TA. Welcoming staff, and treated to one of the comfortable booths. The menu is diverse but not overwhelming. The table staff were very attentive and kept the chips, salsa and water coming. Food was well prepared and at the end we were well satisfied with our choices. Prices were reasonable, in my opinion since I was picking up the tab. Would definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

this is as old school 70s mexican place as LA gets. the fantastic red leather booths, the art work and the food of course is fabulous !!! The prices are not ridiculous and the staff are wonderful. I love a place with spanish tile on the inside as well as christmas lights !!!

We love it here! We brought my in laws and they love it now too! They visited from Nashville and said it was the best restaurant they've been to in a while. They did the ambiance, lighting, music, acoustics of the dining room, the salmon, the service, the food were all super great. We purchased a couple of souvenir photos also to remember this occasion. The vibe is lively and social, and the staff keeps everything running smoothly even when it’s busy. Perfect for a casual night out with friends or family. there is limited parking but I prefer to uber when I'm drinking anyway.

Yum! Perfect. Service Absolutely amazing from the flaming margaritas to the reasons my prices entrees! The staff was so attentive. Always refilling the water glasses and even the chips and salsa (that they did not charge for! parking was easy. We came here at 5:00 on a Monday for dinner after a day of sightseeing and we were seated right away. The chips and salsa were good but the salsa was a bit too spicy for me. Our drinks took 10 minutes to arrive after ordering, which seemed ridiculous given the day and time we were there. Although the fresh guacamole we ordered to eat with our chips was very good, for whatever strange reason it didn't come to the table until AFTER our food arrived. My husband ordered the steak fajitas which were delicious but didn't come on a sizzling skillet. I ordered the steak tacos which were also delicious.

This is our go-to restaurant before a dodger game. Get there early if it’s a game day! We recommend two hours before the start. You have to get their flaming margarita. Skinny, jalapeño is the best. 10/10 recommend - the staff, service, and food are all top notch.

I just found THE hidden gem of Los Angeles. The restaurant is all booths - genius, and they’re comfortable! Food is tasty at an EXCELLENT price, and the staff is lovely. This absolutely adorable photographer came to our table and took our picture, and I will treasure them for a long time. I can’t wait for my next visit to El Compadre

I chose this place because of the great review five stars. But what a disappointment. The food is nothing to write home about.. The rice was cold and soggy, the chile relleno had nothing practically inside. No flavor. The beans were all right. My friend ordered the tostada it was drowned In letters, tasteless chicken. Spent $40 on terrible food. Not worth it. And the service was horrible. Will not be returning ever

We came on a Friday night for a lively, but chill dinner. We got seated immediately in one of their classic big red booths and had some tasty tacos. Love that the margaritas come flaming, it’s a fun touch. They even had a photographer coming around to take cute pics.

El Compadre is one of the most fun dining experiences in all of Los Angeles. If you’re looking for your margarita to come on FIRE - you’ve found the right place. The chips and salsa are bountiful, and the food is warm, delicious and cozy. Like a home cooked meal. The atmosphere is unmatched - nothing like a comfy red leather booth snuggled with your closest friends (or enemies) at the table. It’s our favorite place to go when we just want something delicious and familiar. You’re missing out if you’re not dining at El Compadre (Echo Park)!!! 11/10

Located on the Sunset Blvd corridor, El Compadre Restaurant is just wonderful. Romantic mood lighting is very nice and although this prices are more mid range, I think of it as fine dinning. The service is just so wonderful and the food is amazing. We have been many times, but this is the first time I have gotten to a review. It has arts and crafts of Mexico on the walls. The hand carved wood, with wrought iron chandelier lighting and rustic tiled roofs make for a lovely place to have dinner anytime. There is a dedicated bar area serving full liquor drinks, there is open space seating areas or spacious booth style dining or you can enjoy the patio. All of their food is great. Sometimes we just get a ton of starters to share, but al the full meals are great. We love the guacamole, always made fresh. The quesco Fundido is out of this world with melted mozzarella, quesco oaxaca and chorizo. We also love their fresh shrimp cocktail, with chopped avocado, cilantro, tomatoes and onions in their Special homemade cocktail sauce. If you like nachos, you must try theirs's. It is corn chips covered with cheese, chorizo, and their special sauce, topped with sour cream and guacamole. You can also add steak or chicken if you want. Everyone loves their quesadillas. You can have corn or flour tortilla with melted Monterey Jack cheese with sour cream and guacamole on the side , always on the side. The lobster enchiladas are flour tortillas stuffed with lobster and sautéed vegetables covered in a cream sauce served with white rice, and whole beans and guacamole. I get the sauce on the side. The crabmeat enchiladas, you get two, have ranchera salsa with rice and beans and a side of sour cream and guacamole. it does not matter what you get. It is all great.

We love El Compadre - great flaming margaritas, and the best crunch tacos in town! We also love the enchiladas. Great meat, excellent chips and salsa, plus love music and good atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for a better Mexican restaurant experience!

Came here after not scoring tickets to a dodger game, atmosphere was great and the parking was easy. The salsa was also super good, my girlfriend who usually doesn’t like salsa loved it here!
