This restaurant has been in the Casa Linda area since I was a child and it's always been consistent and a good value, especially their Wednesday special. Good chips and salsa and service too.

Our friends raved about this place so we went based on their excitement about it. It was "fine." Typical, large, loud, too-much-food Mexican restaurant. The chips were outstanding. The fish tacos were good. The chili relleno was interesting. The service was great. Wouldn't go out of our way to go there again but wouldn't discourage people from going there either.

El Fenix restaurants are a Dallas standard. I've been coming to the Casa Linda location, off and on, ever since it opened in the late 1950s and I probably eat here at least four or five times a year. The food is always good and so is the service. There is plenty of free parking and lots of variety on the menu. I have been taking my elderly father here for his birthday lunch for more than two decades. If you tell your waiter it's someone's birthday the birthday person gets a free sopapilla with whipped cream and strawberry sauce and usually, unless the wait staff are exceptionally busy, they will put a sombrero on your head and sing a birthday song! This is a good place for families, couples, business lunches, etc. My dad and I ate lunch here again just two days ago and everything was just as good as always.

Service was quick and professional. Food was delicious, and the margaritas were fantastic. We'll definitely eat here again.

I recently dined here for lunch with a group of friends. Service was extremely slow and almost non-existent at times. We had issues trying to place our orders and getting drink refills. The food has been consistent for decades. The chips & salsa, enchiladas, tacos, etc. are exactly what you expect from El Fenix and regular TexMex fare. Atmosphere is good. Prices are fair.

As always a good culinary experience. Starting with the thin crisp chips and not so hot salsa. The Margarita was big and under five bucks. I had the shrimp fajitas with all the fixings my wife the enchiladas. The staff was courteous and attendant. Always one of the best Tex-Mex around!

I lived in Mexico for a number of years and know authentic food. El Fenix was delightful and the food met my expectation. The sopapillas were delicious. I would recommend your visiting this restaurant when in Dallas.

I've seen the El Fenix restaurants around Dallas for years but this is the first time I've eaten there. Went to the one on Forest Ln by Webb Chapel and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect true Mexican dining but don't normally like the so called Tex-Mex. This was VERY tasty food, good salsa, and real good Guacamole. My partner had a Chili Relleno and I had tamales. We were both happy with our choices.

Good food, and prices, been there year after year always came out happy

I have eaten here on several occasions. It is good Tex-Mex food. It is not too spicy (for me it is too bland), but the quality and quantity are excellent. The service has always been top notch.

After a trip to dallas arboretum a good lunch was needed Found on line so we decided to try this restaurant. Greeted an seated immediately. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. Chips came quickly and salsa was some of the best I have had. I ordered carnes asada which was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered chicken fajitas and portion was huge. Will also become lunch tomorrow. Follow covid protocols also. Great srvice and food. Will certianly return

Met cousins at this restaurant (coming from Tennessee) as we do every time we visit Dallas area. I love their food, and their salsa is awesome. My only complaint is they have started using cilantro in some of their food, and I am very allergic to it. It is still my first choice when visiting.

Had the fish tacos. Generous servings...but (always a "but" right) what was served as tartar sauce was mostly Mayo with a few sweet pickles sprinkled in. If you order fish tacos ask for sour cream instead. The margarita was great. And of course, as always, excellent chips! The salsa could use some spicing up, though. Good beans.

Excellent salsa, interesting choices on the menu, and a fine brace of steak tacos. Delicious. Service was really slow, but the food made the wait worth it.

We've been to this location at least a dozen times--the location is convenient and the food is usually above average. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The ambience is fine, nothing outstanding but acceptable. The main comment I have is that you never know what you will get in terms of food quality. Sometimes the food is outstanding, sometimes it is just average, and sometimes it is below average and you wonder why you even eat here. The prices are reasonable and the service is mostly good, although sometimes the waitress forgets extra salsa. The margaritas that used to be $2.99 last year are now $4.49. The last time I was here I got the pork chimichanga with hatch sauce. The sauce was quite spicy, but the chimi itself was rather soggy.

If you don't want to wait too long for your order, this is the place for you. The food is always top notch, and always the way you remember from your last visit. The corn chips are absolutely the best available anywhere, so tender, flaky, delicious, and never greasy. Thank goodness they sell bags to take home at the register counter.

Used the to go during the shutdown. Food was good, as always. Queso was up to par. Order was correct and on time. But, the chips that accompanied the queso were stale. Poor jobof quality control.

The food at this El Fenix is good, and the wait staff is courteous and friendly. The food usually comes quickly and is hot/

I have always enjoy a good El Fenix and this one does not disappoint. The wait staff are very professional and attentive. The food was very good. It was cool and clean inside the restaurant and I would love to visit this location again.

Little better than average Tex-Mex, but service is fast and price is right. There are a lot of older people that go there every week, and it is a good place for families.

As we were leaving Dallas to return home, we stopped by the El Fenix in Casa Linda shopping center of Dallas. This was always a go to place for my family growing up. Enjoyed a tasty meal, with quick service and excellent customer care. Having the Mexican Dinner plate brings back memories. And the salsa is wonderful, we bought a couple of jars to take home.

This restaurant has been around a long time and is a staple in the Dallas area. The hot sauce is wonderful and the chips great. It isn't authentic Mexican food but more Tex-Mex. Eat there every time we drive through.

If you want truly authentic Tex-Mex, this is the place. I tend to rate Mexican food by the salsa and tamales. El Fenix scores an easy 10 on both counts. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious, again, that's if you want authentic Tex-Mex. Service is always solid. Food-wise, fajitas, tamales, chili rellenos and most specifically the Special Mexican Dinner are all great choices. Guacamole bowl is super as well. Margaritas are so very subjective, but El Fenix margaritas have very broad appeal, Pretty darned good actually. This is one of the great Tex-Mex restaurants in Dallas. Can't wait to go back!

As a Fort Worth native, I practically grew up on El Fenix and this one fell well short of all expectations. Wife's fish tacos tasted as if they had been reheated leftovers from the day before. Found the bottom of my tea glass more than once and when it was finally filled, it was with sweet tea even though the entire table (4 of us) had un-sweet tea. A bit disappointed with this experience.

We went there because we had the $2.99 cheese enchillade plate 99th anniversary coupons, only to be told that they wouldn't honor them on Wednesday because it was already "Enchillada Day" with plates prices at $4.99. We ordered two plates. At check-out, they were $5.99 each - which I could have handled if the food had been good. It wasn't. The plate was hot. The food wasn't. The beans were runny, underseasoned and cold. Rice was pretty cool, too. The enchilladas were tasteless blobs of cheese in tough tortillias, smothered in what tasted like canned chili. Couldn't tell if they ever met a drop of enchillada sauce. No onions, no pico, very indifferent salsa with the chips. It was a heavy, bland, barely edible meal. We left most of it on the plates, and no, we won't be back.

It has been quite a while since we've eaten here. Stopped in after church and we were seated immediately. Food was better than ever. The shrimp quesadillas were awesome. Be careful not to fill up on the chips. A little hard to do, because the salsa was the best. Can't understand why it took us so long to get back for a visit. Service was prompt and friendly. A definite recommendation!!

Just the best, trusted Tex-Mex around. Service is prompt, food is consistent. When you know what you want, this is the place.

I have enjoyed eating at El Fenix all my life (over 5 decades). The downtown loation is where I got my start with El Fenix. My favorite meal there is the Saltillo dinner. The chips and salsa are really good. You never have to wait long for your food. They are so quick! The wait staff is generally very good. Not too much attention, just enough, just right. They learned to make good Mexican food a long time ago and still do! I love El Fenix. They have opened one in Waxahachie which I now frequent often. Love, love, love it!

Great Tex mex place. Food is well proportioned and very filling. Atmosphere is family oriented. Server was attentive without being hovering. Had a fajita for 2 special and probably could have easily fed 3. Chips and a very mild salsa come with your visit. Not a big fan of the queso as it tasted rather tasteless like cheese soup from a can with some bits of red and green peppers mixed in.

I do not like their enchilada sauce (not like in Arizona), but I do like their fajitas. They are very welcoming and accommodating.

We've been away from Dallas and El Fenix too long. The flavor of their dishes is outstanding and the service and atmosphere are top notch. Of course the tortilla chips and salsa get your meal off to the right start . Can't wait to return on our next trip to Dallas.

Love the cheese enchiladas, tortilla soup and tamales. Good guacamole. Try a top shelf magarita straight up (not frozen) with Grand Marnier.

We stopped in next door at Mesa Mayo - but there was a wait - so we came here. I wasn't disappointed! Great flavors and well priced. The pecan clusters the cash register are worth the price too!

It's hard to find puffy tacos out of state, but El Fenix did not disappoint! The enchiladas were delicious. We dined during prime time eating, so the slow service may have been do to the high volume of people. However, when I left I was satisfied and full!

The atmosphere was great! Our server was very professional and hospitable. Chile Renellos were excellent as the tamales and enchiladas. The chips were out of this world!

This was my first visit to an El Fenix in several years, and I am happy to report no deterioration in food or service. The salsa and chips tasted really, really good. I had 4 menu items in my order, and all were appropriately hot or cold and were delivered quickly. I had the Taxco plate, and my daughter had the cheese enchiladas. Our server was attentive and prompt, anticipating our needs before he was asked. I am pretty sure I have seen him there for years. If I were looking for something to complain about, it would be that the prices have taken a big jump, but they have everywhere else as well. Already looking forward to the next trip.

El Fenix in general and this location in particular serves as our after work hangout about twice monthly. The margaritas are good and the salsa is hands down my favorite. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. A very good Tex Mex owned by a long time Dallas area family, the Martinez'.

And that pretty much says it. El Fenix (Skillman Rd. location this time) serves Tex-Mex, and does it well. I had the beef tamales, and have had tacos, enchiladas, and perhaps more on previous visits. They were perfect: strongly flavored, redolent of chili and cumin, and with the exact taste of the Tex-Mex standards that were so wonderful when I was growing up in Texas six decades ago. Chips and salsa for the table are great, and they also provide steamed tortillas, hot and delicious buttered and rolled up. Three tamales, rice, beans and the table offerings all for eight bucks and change; two beers cost more than that. Not to be beaten anywhere. Service is quick and pleasant; your glass doesn't stay empty for long and your order shows up promptly. I am unable to criticize any aspect of this wonderful restaurant after a dozen visits over the last five years.

We love going there.....I have been going since I was a child....now we take our grand kids. We go to the museum and then have lunch at the original El Fenix.....their Juarez is my favorite......the saltillo is my husband's and the kids love the quesadillas. The service is really good....some of the staff has been there for decades.

First visited this location over 45 years ago when I lived in the area and yes this area has also changed drastically with the influx of persons from other countries after 86. El Fenix has always prided themselves with the consistency of food and service from location to location and have visited all from home or work. One of the things I love the most is their thin crispy chips and hot sauce. Always comment my daughter was made from El Fenix since I visited the location near work every day for lunch for the nine months before she was born. Wednesday is their Cheese Enchilada Special. Even though they are always packed during prime time the food and service is on over drive once you are seated and your cheese enchilada special is in front of you before you can eat enough of their fab chips and hot sauce.. Only possible thing I could ever find bad about any El Fenix is their hot sauce taste has changed a bit over the years and don't mean consistency of the actual sauce as for many many years it had the same taste but went from being watery to more thick salsa like. Occasionally now (even bottled El Fenix hot sauce which has sold for years in grocery stores) it tastes as if someone dropped a pound instead of a cup of chili powder in to it while making the batch. Possibly I was spoiled by original recipe. Oh well; that's what makes the world go round... different strokes for different folks.

Always a good experience for consistent Mexican food! The slasa is plentiful as are the chips. We have been to several locations throughout Dallas and envireons and alway the same: good service, good food, hard to miss.

My wife and I were in Dallas on business and we went to El Fenix with a group of about 20+ people. The wait staff was excellent and they had no trouble with our reservation or with providing individual checks. The Margaritas were excellent and reasonably priced. The food, on the other hand, wasn’t anything to rave about. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but not any better than Mexican food I can get at many, many other places across the country. My wife has a pork Chimichanga and I had the cheese Chile Rellenos. Honestly there’s not much more to say. Both dishes were truly average, not bad by any means but nothing memorable. Personally, I’d say this is a great place for large groups of people with varying palates but I wouldn’t recommend it for anything special.

We went there right before closing. Great food .. Great service... LOVED the chips & salsa.... Will go back again..

There are several locations of El Fenix, but this one and the one in Downtown Dallas are my favorites. This family owned restaurant, has very tasty food, and reasonable prices. I LOVE the sour cream and chicken enchiladas and the tortilla chips and salsa at all El Fenix locations. The tortilla chips are very crisp, taste like real corn and served at your table with prompt refills. The salsa is fresh and has a flavorable combination of fresh tomatoes and peppers balanced just right so one can enjoy a little "heat" without having to chase it with water. I prefer this to some higher priced Mexican restaurants because of its authenticity and always fresh food. The margaritas are also a hit, especially on a hot day in Dallas.

This restaurant chain is an icon in Dallas dining experiences. The El Fenix brand has always been reliable. The menu has something for everyone. The chips and hot sauce are so legendary, it is not uncommon for those who have moved away to request a "care package" of chips and sauce to be sent to them. Always good and such a great value.

I am talking about the location near Woodall Rogers. This is a very large space with no ambiance. Food was OK, but not special and you feel like it is mass produced. Meso Mayo is much better and has more atmosphere.

We usually love El Fenix. This one is pretty mediocre. Cheese enchiladas ok. Tamales were bad. As bad as the service. Queso was lumpy and tasted weird. Just not as good as others.

We had a group of 17 senior adults at our Out To Lunch Bunch at El Fenix. Rocky served us. He is their best server and has been there for some 20 years. You will enjoy this location and especially so if you ask for Rocky to be your server.

I have no complaints. The service was fast and friendly—we were a large-ish group at a busy time (Sunday after church)—and the food was awesome. Better than other El Fenix locations I have been to. I had the flautas (chicken) and they were excellent, as were the chips, guacamole, cheese dip and salsa. This is my favorite El Fenix from now on.

Brought my parents to the original El Fenix, thinking we would have an exceptional tex-mex dining experience. Food was average. Service was good; server was attentive. I just had higher expectations for the food quality.

El Fenix was built by the Martinez family of Dallas and owned by them until recently. I have been going to El Fenix in downtown Dallas and casa Linda all my life. The food is what I grew up on and had not changed. It is delicious

Went to El Fenix with business associates and we all had a great time. The service was very good for lunch, food was quick and delicious. The fajitas were delicious, the guacamole was very good and plenty of it. We all enjoyed the food and we were there for over two hours just enjoying ourselves. The waiter never bothered us, kept our drinks full and it was a great experience.

Very good food and service. The food is consistently good. The sour cream chicken enchiladas are one of my favorite things and the chips and salsa are very good. The service is attentive and they want to please and act happy you have visited.

Service and food always good here. Have been here dozens of times beginning in the mid 1970's. concerns about the chipsserved with salsa. Most were broken and small. When I get such a basket, my concern is that we have been served uneaten chips from other customers. However, I have never become ill from eating here throughout the years. I will return because the food is delicious and the service is always good.

We ate at the downtown El Fenix recently on a very crowded Saturday night. Nevertheless, we were not disappointed in either the service or the food. Same good quality (wonderful queso and guacamole, crispy chips, etc.). Although the parking lot was just about full, we didn't have to wait more than a minute for a table. Everything was just as good as the Casa Linda location where we usually go.

By far one of the very few Mexican restaurants I'm willing to endorse. The service has always been great when I eat here as well as the food. There's always plenty of room for seating regardless how busy they might be. The only real wait time is when trying to pay the bill. The atmosphere is nice, pleasant, and easy going. Even though I don't consider myself a regular just yet, I'm always treated as if I've been coming here for years. The portions aren't huge, but certainly a nice size. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy some good tex-mex type cuisine without breaking the bank to feed yourself, or family.

OK it is on one thing but it is a very important one. Guacamole os excellent, food is alway good. Never had a bad plate. Even if it is not amazing... but did I mention the Margaritas. Awesome.

The margarita and sangria swirl was amazing! I had the fajita enchilada with steak and it was delicious! Service was very very fast and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Dallas!

BEST SERVICE EVER!!!! We went on Wednesday night which is $5.99 enchilada dinner special night. Even though it was crowded, we were seated quickly. We were brought chips, hot sauce and drinks quickly. The server was so nice and very accommodating. The food was delicious. since we don't have El Fenix where I live I was very happy. I made sure to bring some chips and hot sauce home.

The parking lot was full so we were a little concerned about the service we would receive when we walked in the door. Saw three separate large parties of one to two dozen people and it looked like they just gotten there. We were surprised and pleased at the quick service we received from the friendly waitress. There was quite a bit of activity in the dining room but, the waitress never forgot us. Our glasses were kept full and so were the salsa and chips bowls, even after we were served. Manager was present in the dining room, tables were bused and floor was kept clean of straw wrappers and chip crumbs. Food was delivered hot and fresh after a reasonable wait time. Food tasted great! Exactly what we expected. Overall, a pleasant dining experience. All the El Fenix restaurants are good, this one was extra good! Definite repeat.

A local recommended this for tex-mex and we were not disappointed. They have great margaritas and the tamales I had were delicious! Everyone was happy with their food, and I would definitely go back.

We enjoyed El Fenix as our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in Dallas ever since the 1960s. We eat there at least twice a month. Lately it seems as if the service and the food are not as good as they have always been. Last week we went to the Casa Linda location. Chips and salsa were brought to the table right away but we had no water or other drink and no silverware. We had to ask for both after waiting until the chips were not warm. Our food was not as good as it has always been. People seated near us also had to ask for silverware after they already had their food. We have been thinking that the food has not been up to El Fenix standards lately. Please bring back our wonderful El Fenix food!!!!!!

Been eating at El Fenix for 50 years. There may be better, more trendy food around, but for the best comfort Mexican you can find. This is the place. Friendly staff, that are well trained in making your meal a good experience.

Good Place Fair prices Good Mexican food and Margaritas, Queso Blanco dip is great! The Tacos El Carbon the best Entre there make sure to get the Steak! Atmosphere is busy especially on Wed. That is the Special Price Day! Been going there for over 20 years!

Dinner date with the wife and we ended up here. I got the special Crispy hatch chile stacked enchiladas. They were so-so. First off they did not look anything like the picture on the menu. And dry, they did not have the ?sauce? Gravy? Whatever it was in the picture wasn't in the plate. My wife got the fish tacos and while they were appealing she said they were very fishy tasting. I know fish should taste fishy but not too fishy. The waitress was great and funny. But overall for $35 the food should have been a lot better. Avg rating at best

Yes a good place with fair prices especially on Wed. night!! Special on that night wrtwhile to go then!! Save some$! Staff is good there Eva G. was a good server very attentive and appreciative of us being there! Thank you!!

Every Time I visit Dallas, I eat at El Fenix on Casa Linda. I have dined there for years, and have never had a bad experience! The food is great, and i especially like their Chili Relleno's. This restaurant is locally owned and has been open for decades.

I love this place. Great Tex Mex food that comes out fast. The staff at this location is super friendly and accommodating. The table chips and salsa are among my favorites from any Mexican restaurant. The building is nostalgic yet clean. I ordered the Botana platter which had samples of chicken nachos, taquitos and steak quesadillas. It was a very good mix of classic dishes that tasted great together. Finished the meal with a sopapilla that was excellent in both floor and consistency. I highly recommend you give El Fenix a try.

We used to live in Dallas so we tried a lot of their Tex-Mex over the years. El Fenix just seems to hit all the right buttons. They are very accommodating to special requests and go out of heir way to make sure your experience with them is great. I think it's wonderful that a chain that has been around as long as El Fenix has managed to maintained this level of quality and service. The chip and salsa are perfect. My tortilla soup was he best ever. I love the way they served it with the broth being bout in a separate pitcher and poured over the chips, chicken, cheese, veggies that were in a bowl. Wish I had some right now.

It's been 4 years since I was in Dallas, but we always have to go to El Fenix. Salsa and chips were brought to the table as soon as we were seated and our drink orders were taken. The salsa is thick and not soupy and the chips are great. Our orders were taken and I went to the restroom. By the time a got back (less than 5 minutes), the food was being served. Excellent tacos and enchiladas. I just wish we had this restaurant near us.

Friendly but really slow service. They advertise as a kid friendly place but I was a bit surprised. Slow to take our orders, slow to bring the kids drinks, slow with the food, and I had to ask for a to go box.

El Felix never disappoints. Service is always above and beyond what you expect and always extremely accommodating. The meal begins, of course, with chips and salsa. However, these are warm, fresh, and light with a perfect crunch. Fresh salsa served generously. I've tried just about everything on their menu and nothing disappoints. Nice atmosphere, too. For a franchised operation, they do everything extremely well.

We have eaten here several times over the years. I usually get the tacos with double rice but I will try different dishes on occasion. Every time the food has been good and the service just as good. I will continue to eat here!

Dropped in here for a Margarita - there is a bar around the side where you can sit as well. Choose from on the rock or ice - (think on the rocks is better) delivered very quickly and then relax and enjoy. You can pay at the bar which avoids the queues at the door.

El Fenix is nearly 100 years old and although nor longer owned by the Martinez family, it is still fine tex-mex dining. Many say that Mr. Martinez invented tex-mex. This review is for the location in Casa Linda in Dallas. The chips and salsa are just the BEST their is... light and crispy. The food is consistently good. Anything on the menu is good, but I really like the enchiladas. The staff is always pleasent and attentive. The prices are reasonable. This location is a favorite for families- the Casa Linda location has been here for over 60 years. If there is one draw-back it is the very narrow parking places which I think is the shopping center's fault. I have eated at several of the El Fenix locations scattered across the Metroplex. They have all been first-rate.

Joined our good friends for dinner before going to the Dallas Zoo. Good service, good food, good prices. Recommend!

The El Fenix in Casa Linda Plaza has ample seating and quick efficient service. The food is always well prepared, and the staff works quickly to seat everyone in several large dining areas. The meals are served hot, with plenty of chips and salsa. The margaritas are great and so is the atmosphere. Always a pleasure.

The best part of the meal was their chips and salsa great flavor in the salsa and fresh chips. We had the botana plater appetizer the shredded chicken they use tastes like something from taco bell. The flautas and the nachos had the chicken. The beef fajita quesadilla was good. Their cheese enchiladas were good tex-mex their crispy tacos were bland. The fajita tacos had more lettuce and tomato than actual fajita. The refried beans were decent and the rice was ok. The worst part about the restaurant is the service server had trouble understanding English so we ordered in Spanish and she still seemed to have trouble understanding. Never came by to check on us and I had to get other servers to refill water.

My wife's family has been meeting at this El Fenix for the last 3 years at Christmas time. Approx number is 20. The waitress was great. Separate checks even. Service was fast and correct. My wife always gets and loves the El Favorito dinner. This time I had 2 flour soft tacos with beef, rice & beans. It was good but not very warm. I enjoyed the tacos. They were very filling. And I would order them again. Very nice neighborhood mexican food restaurant.

I have loved El Fenix all my life but this location has disappointed the last 3 visits. This visit we arrived 10 minutes after they opened and the chips were stale. We ordered cheese enchilada dinners off of the lunch menu. After a 20 minute wait, we were served. The restaurant was about 10% full so I didn’t understand how cheese enchiladas could take that much time. The enchiladas were very small and tough and the refried beans were soupy.

Was really looking forward to some authentic Tex-mex or Mexican food while in Dallas. There were plenty of choices. We chose el fenix because there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. We sat down and the salsa and chips instantly wowed us. Delicious. We both ate 3 bowls of salsa before our meal came out. The menu looked like a chili's menu. Too many choices and descriptions vague. I went with a Botanos dish with quesadilla, beef flautas, chicken flautas, cheese dip and nachos. The first thing I ate was the beef flautas, it was inedible. Tasted days old and like it had been fried 3 times. The quesadilla was ok. Cheese and some sort of beef, I'm guessing brisket. The 4 chips that were called nachos was the best part. The chicken was very flavorful. But it was in fact 4 chips. The cheese dip was in a little bowl the size of a table spoon. Couldn't eat that, no way to fit a chip in the bowl. Our waitress, Ana, was super sweet and sang as she spoke. As a reviewer I try to speak something positive into the review, The best part of this experience was leaving.

We come here quite often and had a string of good experiences until our most recent visit on July 4. We were seated promptly but then sat for quite a while before the server came. We finally put in our drink order and waited a long time again. When the margaritas came they were only 3/4 fill and they charged $10 for this special drink. So I sent them back and asked that we get a full glass. We waited a really long time and finally the manager brought them back and they were horrible. Just horrible. I don't know what they did but they were undrinkable. So I sent them back again. After another long wait we got new margaritas that....were 3/4 full. So 30+ minutes into the visit we had come full circle. I did not want to send them back a third time because by then it was clear that the cause was lost. We still had no food order, and still no napkins or silver. Meanwhile, the baby was crying and we all are hungry and...the waiter disappears for about 15 minutes. Finally, finally, finally we are allowed to order some food. And it comes out in like 2 minutes. I guess they knew what we wanted. All that said, the puffy taco was really good and I would get it again.

The food was good but what truly made this restuarant was the waiter we had serving us. We were a large group and he did excellent with keeping up with us.

Went to the one on Belt Line Rd, not sure if it's Casa Linda Village, but ate there with my son, daughter in law, and 2 grandkids (ages 7 and 9). Good service, good food, reasonable prices. Love the flour tortillas with butter. Kids menu. Very accommodating and nice atmosphere.

My family always loved El Fenix in Casa Linda. I've personally been dining here for over fifty years. I love Tex-Mex and eat it at a variety of restaurants. No one can match the El Fenix cheese enchiladas. They are classic. They also have great margaritas and a full bar. Another secret is their lemon icebox pie. It's as good as what Mama made, and that's high praise. Highly Recommended!

Had a late lunch at the downtown location, across the way from the Perot Science Museum. The ambiance was traditional, the server was quick and pleasant, and the food was flavorful and ample. The price tag was quite reasonable. It can't get any better than that. Well, yeah it could have been a tad quieter, but with few customers yelling, I could talk to my wife.

This El Fenix has good food, and courteous wait staff. I have being going to this El Fenix since I moved to East Dallas two years ago (Wednesday special is great!). The wait staff has always been courteous, not a long wait for our food. But the other night we had take out. Our order had an extra item that we did not ask for, luckily we asked the waitress to read our order back. She was not happy about fixing her mistake, but the item was removed, and we were told my credit card would be charged the correct amount. When I was handed the order, I asked about my credit card charge. I was told by the staff it had been all taken care of. Well, it had not, I was charged the incorrect amount, with the added item the waitress put on the order. So I drove back the following morning, and the manager took care of it. I was put off by how rude he was to me. His staff made the mistake, and lied to me about the card being debited the correct amount. There was no I am sorry for the inconvenience. He acted like he was put out about the whole thing. Not a smile, have a good day, come back soon. Just do you want a free meal, or credit, then silence, and a glowering look. This manager represents the restaurant, and he did not give off the best impression. The food has good days, and it has some bad days, but we are frequent customers. I am glad the staff does such a great job.

We've been coming here for years and found that if you hit an "on" night the food can be very good. If you hit an "off" night you wonder why you have to pay for the food. This most recent trip was an "on" night. The 1918 Margaritas were excellent, much better than the cheaper house version. The wife got the veggie-avocado enchilada dinner and really liked it a lot. The sauce was excellent. I opted for something safe and got the chicken fajita nachos and I thought they were excellent also. The service was professional and fast. The restaurant is clean. Overall, good Tex-Mex at very reasonable prices.

I started eating with my family at the El Fenix off of Illinois Street in Dallas when I was 5 and it was Buffet and a little lady walked around with a basket full of Hot Sopapillas and you could ask for as many as you wanted free! I ate at these restaurants for over 30 years and whenever I go back to Dallas this is where I go and I get the same thing and i has never failed me...Soft Cheese Tacos!
Very Good Food and Very Good Service
We dined here while visiting Dallas. The food was very good and prepared as requested. The salsa was fresh. The portions were generous. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. The restaurant was very busy with a lot of families and large groups that night. The prices were reasonable too! Very family friendly restaurant.
