Got out of my car and I was transported to a unique Mexican market and dueling mariachi restaurant. Super fun experience. Food was great and huge. Very kind service and not expensive. If you wanted to buy a pair of boots, cowboy hat, soccer jersey or religious relic you could do that on your way back to the car. Other than the authentic markets and restaurants in San Antonio, there is nothing like this in the USA. Check it out and be immersed!

I came here with a friend to get supplies for a Mexican themed party. What a fun place! There are many vendors selling Mexican products including and not limited to: Clothing, natural healing, decorations, cooking equipment, herbs, salsas and sauces, butcher, fast food stands and gifts. The market is on two floors and has a Mariachi Restaurant on the third floor. They have free parking. I think that this is a good destination for tourists wanting a Mexican experience without going to Mexico. I can't wait to go back and get some fresh Mole' sauce.

We love the gorditas sold on the second floor and the different odd pastries, we recently tried a lemon with coconut filling, it was amazing! As far as the shopping it's OK, there are a lot of stands/shops selling the same thing.

El Mercadito is a great place to experience a little of the Mexican culture. The first floor has everything from Mexican candy, lotteria cards, great food, clothing and books. The second floor is a family restaurant with a mariachi band.

The was recommended to me from a woman in a Mexican grocery store. She told us it would be like a shop you would find in Mexico. She wasn't kidding because it was as if we were back in Chicago where my dad grew up. There is a flea market, and tons of food there, and the food was excellent! It was a friendly atmosphere and many people spoke English which was helpful because we do not speak Spanish. Keep in mind it is quite crowded and busy, so if you don't like crowds, this is not a place to go to. We came on a Sunday afternoon, which probably added to the heavy traffic, but the parking was free. As long as you can find it, it is quite the little jem.

The restaurant on the third floor that used to have mariachi shows is boarded up and closed. They been closed since the Covid shutdown. Everything else is open. There is still plenty of food and small booths selling leather goods, makeup, piƱatas, traditional Mexican dresses and shirts, and lots more.

On a whim we drove to El Mercadito just to check it out, boy am I glad we did! What a wonderful place, free parking, tons of vendors, and great food. Ive been told the 3rd floor restaurant isnt that good, we stuck to the first 2 floors. Basically we walked around and did some shopping, almost all the vendors speak english so if your Spanish is bad (or non existent) dont worry. For lunch we hit the second floor, all the restaurants were crowded so that was a good sign. On our way out we hit the "ice cream" vendors for some frozen treats. Bottomline, make the trip, you wont regret it!

While in LA if you like good Mexican food , mariachi , margaritas beer and a nice atmosphere you really need to come here! It's a cool place for friends, family and want to be singers. Food is good , service good and you feel like your in Mexico( well L A was part of Mexico but that's another story). See ya soon Califaz

As a native Angelino, I can't believe I have never frequented this gem. The place has a free private parking lot, with plenty of spots. It is try-level with mostly shopping, clothes, shoes, trinkets and Mexican novelty stuff on the first level. The second level has clothes and some food vendors and the third level has a restaurant and a bar with live mariachi music. We ordered some tacos and a drink and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Overall a very cool spot and will definitely visit again. If you're visiting California and can't make it across the border, El Mercadito is the closest you'll get to Mexico.

Awesome place. Try the burrito mojado and queso fundido with chorizo. The place looks rough from the outside but its super. You have to take the elevator to the third floor and you will find the restaurant. Huge and includes mariachi music after 5pm.

I've been going here since I can remember and it's still an excellent place to experience Mexican LA. They have all kinds of typical Mexican desserts on the first floor/outside area, from raspados (snow cones), ice cream, churros, potato chips, esquite (cup of corn with cheese/mayo/lime juice, etc) while the bottom two floors of stores inside carry maaaany traditional or typical Mexican goods. The top floor is a restaurant area with live music--MARIACHI! It's a great place to sit down and enjoy some Mexican food and great music.

El Mercadito Mariachi Restaurant offers a lively and festive Mexican dining experience. The vibrant decor, traditional mariachi music, and friendly staff create an authentic atmosphere. wait times can be longer during peak hours and it can get loud when the mariachi band is performing.

Super fun spot to trip around. There are two levels of shopping as well as vendors outside selling everything from mangoneadas and chopped fruit, to churros and hand cut potato chips. The first floor has authentic clothes, boots, jewelry, and art. The second floor is more about food. Different kinds of mole for sale and CHEAP. The third floor is a massive restaurant, maybe 500 seats, in a cool environment. There is almost always a mariachi band playing. The portions are enormous. We had ours for lunch the next day. If you like beer, try the Michelada, which is mixed with spicy limey tomato juice. Fantastic. The places closes early, 8pm on weekdays and 9pm on weekends, so plan accordingly.

My friend Lisa brought me here for my birthday. It's an incredible place. Two floors of markets with vendors, selling food and gifts. We went to the 3rd floor for dinner. They had a wonderful Mariachi band playing and the food was very very good. Just an unexpected fun experience. I'd like to go back on the weekend when it's really busy.

We decided to visit because we were told they had great Mariachi bands. This is true, the bands were authentic and great. Atmosphere and food were humble but we were there for the music and had a good time.
