Go for the Huevos Rancheros

By ChristinePeregrina |

Visited twice in 2 days. On the first day: Loved the Huevos Rancheros and family-friendly environment. On day 2: Tried the Chili Relleno and wasn't so impressed. It tasted a bit like a freezer and was watery. Despite the disappointment of the 2nd visit, I would still happily come here in the future - but I'll stick to the sure thing, Huevos Rancheros. Great value. Excellent service.

Great Texmex breakfast

By Tvems |

Great texmex breakfast (and, for my one picky child - pancakes!!). Husaband had barbicoa and huervos ranchero and loved it.

Great Food - Reasonable Prices

By docwhiteaustin |

One of our favorite places in SA. Unpretentious well- prepared food at reasonable prices. Great Chicken Flautas, Tacos, Chile Rellenos, Lengua (my favorite), Barbacoa, Enchiladas, Huevos Rancheros, breakfast tacos -- we have enjoyed everything we have tried and have tried most of their extensive menu over the past several years. Good coffee and tea as well. Highly Recommended.

Don't go here; potential racial profiling.

My family and I (party of 3) arrived close to one hour before closing around 2pm Sunday. We walked in, looked around, and after a moment of confusion we were pointed to just go to the other side of the restaurant by a waitress at another table; she was not specific and I felt odd being directed in such a manner. I should have turned around and left at that point. Instead I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was busy. We sat down and a different waitress dressed the same brought us menus and took our drink order. Drinks came; family and I ordered; I asked for the daily special, a chile relleno. Another two tables were seated after we ordered. Two ladies in particular were right across from us (they looked like they had just finished a round of illegal drugs, alcohol, or both). Five minutes later I am told they don't have the special. Okay; I ordered something else. Another ten minutes goes by and I clearly see the chile relleno special heading over to the table behind me!! I am upset but quiet. ANOTHER TEN minutes goes by and the TWO LADIES in front of me who arrived AFTER us get their food!... BUT WAIT.. Not only do they get their food, but they get enough food to feed 3 families !!! After the waitress brings them 3 trips from the kitchen, they are already asking for to-go plates to fill up. The entire time I have been calming my nerves watching the Sunday football game on the television mounted uncomfortably too high. If I was older, my neck would be hurt by this time. We receive our food. Not even five minutes later, the ladies turned off all of the televisions. There goes the game I was watching and actually enjoying... The waitress comes to the table and asks if we want anything else because the kitchen is closing in 5 minutes..!! It was not even 3pm (their closing time that day) yet and they are shutting everything down to get the hell out of there.. ..the waitress placed our ticket on the table and asked that we pay immediately before the registers close. We weren't even halfway through our meals!!! The ladies across from us did not get the same treatment, nor were they told of the kitchen closing nor were they asked to pay yet. We had our credit card ready on the table, and the waitress did not come by to receive payment; not for another 20 minutes!! Instead the waitresses were heard yelling with the cook (possibly the owner?) in noticeably vulgar language. They had two separate yelling sessions involving all of the waitresses (5-6 of them). All this time we had no drink refills NOR were we offered any before we left. They finally came around for our payment after they had already turned off all of the kitchen area lights. There were still three other tables occupied at this point. I felt like I was targeted because of my race. I won't ever go near this restaurant and hope you don't either. Sincerely, Justin

Great food, great price

By Colbyclay |

Milagrito is one of the best cafes in the San Antonio and that is saying something since there is one on every other street corner. Don't expect linens and southwest fusion here, this is down home South Texas comfort food. I work just down the street and have been going there for 5 years now, and our 2 year old has been going there almost every Friday since he was born. There is nothing on the menu that isn't delicious, and a lunch for 3 only runs around $20.00. You cannot beat that! If you are looking for down home Mexican food without the frills or price, Milagrito is the place.

Great Tacos

By Marcos P |

Great tacos, especially after a night of celebrating! Wife and I had the Taco Loco, Taco Feo and Barbacoa tacos. All were excellent. Shared a bowl of menudo, but it was average (not much meat but flavor was ok).

Very good Tex Mex

By David B |

We walked here from our Airbnb place on our recent visit to San Antonio. I had the divorced eggs with one egg with salsa verde and the other with ranchera sauce, potatoes with chorizo, beans and tortillas. It was all delicious. My wife and son were not so impressed with their breakfast tacos. He thought the seasoning was off and she only got an egg and cheese taco.

great food

By Rnerio |

Good breakfast plates. Excellent huevos ranchero plates. Includes hash browns mixed with chorizo and refried beans and tortillas. Breakfast and lunch specials everyday. Reasonable prices.

Family Owned Great Food

By just1backpack |

Family owned and serving up great food for many many years. Two daily lunch specials offered every day. On street parking, outdoor seating and friendly service with plenty of choices on the menu.

Impressed and will most certainly come back!!!

By Francisco Mnauel |

The place is like sitting at your grandmas kitchen, the food fresh demonstrated by taste and well presented Menudo, which I consider to be an art form in the kitchen. You dominate Menudo eggs and bacon are easy!!!! The flavor of the food rich but not overwhelming, the service was incredible an I must say all was deliciously excellent!

Great little mexican restaurant

By SLmom |

We first stopped here for breakfast and really enjoyed it so we came back for lunch 2 weeks later. If you are looking for enjoyable (authentic type) Mexican food for a good value, this is a great stop. It is a nice simple place and convenient if you don't have a lot of time. They brought food out pretty quickly after ordering. Also, for those of you who have someone in the family that loves to eat "breakfast" at any hour of the day, you can order off the breakfast menu all day I think. It certainly isn't lowfat food but what you expect at a Mexican restaurant. Most of the parking is along the street.

Would give it more if possible

By Terik |

The best Mexican Breakfast I have ever had and I have had a lot. Fresh, delicious, fast and great service, local neighborhood atmosphere. Best find in San Antonio so far. Nothing fancy just delicious, authentic food.

Inexpensive and authentic Mexican breakfast

By Eric67676 |

When on vacation, my wife and I are always looking to dine where the locals hang out. On a morning walk in San Antonio, we passed El Milagrito Café. Several people were dining on the patio and we also noticed a bunch of cop cars parked there, too. We stopped for breakfast and were happy we did so. We sat outside and enjoyed a cup of coffee, a chorizo breakfast taco, and a breakfast platter with eggs, beans, rice, fresh tortillas, and chicharrones. The food was fresh and tasty and the bill came to $9. Can't beat that! The indoor seating area of the restaurant was fairly full, including two tables full of San Antonio police officers. Interestingly, there were a couple of collared dogs roaming free on the patio who hung out around our legs for most of breakfast, awaiting some handouts. We obliged with several pieces of chicharrones. They loved them, but did not care for the hot sauce. Our waitress said that the dogs were not owned by anyone affiliated with the restaurant but did not seem concerned that they were there. We did not care either as it really made for a unique experience.

Another amazing brunch

By Andy0227 |

We visit this fantastic family run business every time we visit San Antonio . Very friendly staff beautiful food that hist the spot . My favourite is the babacoa tacos . My wife's favourite is the potato and charitzo . To be honest you can't get anything other than quality . Regards from Yorkshire England

Barbacoa!

By tabowyer |

This place has the best breakfast tacos my fiance and I have ever had. The chorizo is good, the carne asada even better, but holy smokes that barbacoa... get it. You will thank me! It's a busy, seat yourself type of place. Has a patio if you're so inclined. Very fast service and excellent horchata too. I wish we had this place in Dallas!

Really good breakfast tacos

By bge777 |

Really good breakfast tacos for a reasonable price. I would definitely go back. Especially to try dinner.

Delicious food

By Jorge G |

Was in town for a weekend with the family, and we were looking for authentic restaurants to eat breakfast. I found this place online, and I must say I was not disappointed. Great customer service and the food was really good.

Had my usual test tacos...

By Bibliotecario A |

Had my usual test tacos -- carne guisada and one with bean/cheese/bacon/guac. Not too shabby, but not exciting. Bonus: I dare you to order the "BJ Plate" without giggling

Eggs From....

By Beavercowboy |

the ranch! A group of friends and I stopped at El Milagrito Restaurant for breakfast as we were preparing to leave San Antonio for home in Iowa. I’m glad we did! I had Huevos Rancheros with Barbacoa. (That is beef with beans.) It was a great choice! The plate of food was huge! It wasn’t expensive either. The lady serving us was great! The service was fast in spite of it being busy. This is “a local’s place” and one can see why! I would return if I am ever in San Antonio again!

AMAZING!

By firewife1111 |

Some of THE BEST authentic Mexican food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I had the puffy tacos and they were so, so good. I wish I could go back right now and eat them again. My husband and son had enchiladas which were also VERY good. Definitely make a stop here if you are in the neighborhood, or even if you aren't. This is better food than what you'll find on the Riverwalk, by far. It's also incredibly inexpensive, which is a nice change, especially if you're visiting San Antonio for vacation!

Great lunch!

By Brazsummerfun |

We stopped in for lunch while out exploring the area and we’re so glad we did! It was delicious! We both had the cheese enchiladas with carne guisada, rice, beans and flour tortillas. It was ALL good! So much better than some of the places on the river wall that we’ve visited!

Excellent Mexican Food

By TravelPhotoGirl |

I loved this little restaurant so much thqat I ate there several times during my visit! Tasty authentic Mexcian cuisine with something for everyone on the menu. For instance I have never ordered pancakes at a Mexican restaurant before- but they smelled so good when the waitress walked by with them, I had to order them. And they were the BEST panacke I have ever had! There mexican food is great too! My friend who is Mexican, loved their medudo so much she brought some back with her to Houston! Prices are cheap- so you can escape the high priced tourist areas and get real food that is super tasty and quick! The atmosphere is cafe, and it's off the beaten path not far from the museum though. It's very much worth making the 10 minute drive from the River Walk!

Best soup I've ever had!!!

By Samuel B |

Some of the best Albondigas soup I've ever had, the Mexican lunch plate was very good too! I highly recommend this restaurant, plus it's very clean....

Trying something new and delicious

By NormKeith |

Just before leaving for San Antonio I saw an Andrew Zimmern show on San Antonio restaurants and saw a segment on El Milagrito specializing in Barbacoa. Barbacoa basically the head of the cow slow cooked with onions, carrots, cilantro (some spices) until the meat is falling apart. I had a breakfast with barbacoa, huevos rancho eggs, home fries and beans. My girlfriend had puffy chicken tacos fair but not as good as Ray's Drive In. On the other hand the barbacoa was juicy and full of flavor, I wish it was a bigger portion so good. Service very friendly. We found people very friendly in San Antonio.

Awesome Tasty Mexican Food

By FlyingEagle86 |

This restaurant was recommended by one of our friends. We were not disappointed. The food was extremely tasty and reasonably priced. The diner got full during the lunch hour. Customer service was excellent.

The Best

By Terik |

Great service and even better food. This place is the best place in San Antonio for delicious Mexican breakfast.

Really hate to leave this

By Terik |

Really hate to leave this review. This is my favorite place for breakfast in San Antonio. This time something was off. The eggs and ranchero sauce were bland. My husband’s food was also bland. I will try again next time in San Antonio. This was such a disappointment. Service was good as always.

Yummy Mexican breakfast

By Marisa R |

Breakfast plates were delicious..I had ham & egg plate...so much food!! My hubby had Barbacoa and said it was really good...not greasy at all!!! Tortillas are home made. We even ordered lunch plates to go...Worth the neighborhood parking..👍👍👍👍👍

Excellent Food At A Good Price

By rodriguezjesser65 |

This place has been around since 1969 & there food is simply delicious!! Good size tacos homemade tortillas, breakfast plates served all day. Lunch specials the inside is very clean with plenty of tablets were to seat. I strongly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch the food is just like grandma used to make.

Did I just eat at home!?!?

By Nathan C |

Food was delicious! The huevos rancheros were delicious. We were visiting from out of town and just picked a random mexican restaurant on google to get breakfast at. My friend and myself had the "executive" (I think that's what they called it) breakfast with steak, huevos rancheros, and beans and rice. Our wives had the huevos rancheros plate and the huevos con chorizo. Only thing keeping me it from 5 stars is they need to clean the walls of cobwebs on the patio. All in all, we definitely were still thinking of going again the next day so definitely give it a try!

True Tex-Mex at old-fashioned prices

By dlonghorn |

I grew up in San Antonio where Tex-Mex was the preferred food when you didn't have much jingle in your pocket. We were delighted to find El Milagrito, around the corner from Trinity U, on a recent viist. It is authentic, incredibly delicious food at prices from several years ago. Lunch for $5.99!!! Yum Yum!

Customer service issue

By christopher a |

I really have to say most of their food is great but except their mole it tasted pretty bad, so I simple requested if I could get a carne guisada plate instead and send the mole back which are the same price, but was told that I could not do that or else the waitress would get it decducted of her plate as if she made the mole, so I said "why would I want to eat and pay for something I can't eat " she decided to call her manager who wasn't on site and came back with another refusal to return the plate. Seriously this manager needs to learn customer service skills and stop charging his/her wait staff for cause that are not there own. I decided not go eat there but go back and give the manager some tips on customer service .

Inexpensive belly full of food

By warste |

We saw this place on Delicious Destinations TV show. We had lunch here since they are not open for dinner. Our server (Ana) was friendly, fast, and efficient. We had the famous barbacoa platter and the cheese enchiladas with Carne Guisada Plate. The food was awesome. The barbacoa was so tender, no need to chew. Who knew beef cheeks and tongue could be so good. The enchiladas were ok, nothing special. The carne guisada was exceptional. Tender and tasty. We had more than we could eat. The plates are large and cheap. Everything tasted authentic and delicious. Best thing was the bill. $14 for both large lunches. We did drink water, so no beverage charges. They do not serve beer or alcohol. If you are in town, go to El Milagrito.

Great Food

By iJess |

Small location so it gets very loud in here. There’s outside seating which i think would be better if the weather is nice and cool. Parking isn’t the best...street parking. But the food is authentic and was well worth the headache parking and GPS getting us lost! Well definitely be back! My picky toddler loved the enchiladas and so did i.

Very Good Mexican Food

By 42PinkGirl |

Great service, great selection of Mexican food. Their barbacoa tacos in flour tortillas and bean & cheese chalupas were delicious. Great little place to stop in. They close at 3pm on Sundays but when we arrived at 2:45pm they were pleasant, took our order and we got our order fast. Will come back for their lunch specials next time (til 2pm).

Good Food, Great Value

By Bruddhashark |

We came with a large group of over 30 people right before closing and they were nice enough to let us all in. The prices were very reasonable, Some of the combo meals were not very good like the ones with steak (tough and overcooked). But all the individual dishes were good like the tacos, menudo and burritos. They close early and are not open for dinner.

Local Tex mex

By nuggetshow |

Great cheap meal. Enjoy the patio if it's under 90, go for enchiladas and puffy tacos. Parking sucks so grab a spot on side street

It was ok

By maggiet0813 |

We went to this restaurant because I saw it in one program as the best tacos in San Antonio. The place has several tables and has 2 outside sessions. They serve breakfast all day. I had a picadillo taco and it was very good - no eggs though. Breakfast tacos are priced $1.59 - $2.19. Bathroom needs work.

Authentic!

By Pete B |

Went here twice for breakfast...1st time I got the daily "Special" and It was fine....Went back 2 days later and had 3 of their Breakfast Tacos. Now those are GREAT! This place doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. It's a little worn around the edges in a gritty, working class neighborhood sort of way. My business partner and I (2 NYC guys) liked it. Had our wives been w/ us they may not have been as "excited". (Well, until they got their fresh soft-shelled tacos, that is....) It's not Dotties True Blue Cafe in San Fran....but the food is good and the service/attitude is very good. (Hint: Tip big---they don't charge enough!!)

Good for breakfast and lunch - exceptional value

By Peter C |

Staying locally we went twice to this restaurant which is busy with locals and visitors alike, including students from the nearby university, A reasonably varied venue with the flour tortillas that come with every meal from what I could see excellent. Reasonably tolerant of novices in Mexican food - lunch for two under $20!

Still the Best.

By Terik |

In business for over 50 years. Fantastic, little out-of-the-way Mexican restaurant. By far one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. Love the huevos rancheros and my husbands chiliquiles we delicious also. Very reasonable pricing.

Good breakfast tacos

By AlexNRP069 |

The food was great - fresh, tasty, flavorful and huge in portion! There's no doubt that you'll have plenty to eat when you go there. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly good. I don't expect to be catered to, but I would hope you at least could try to act as if you want to be there. Our waitress had no smile, no personality and it was clear she was just going through the motions. After we sat, it took about 10 minutes to get acknowledged and get a menu. However, despite the service issue, we still liked the food, the location and the local flavor to it.

Terrible service

By Deanna C |

Waitress ignored our table. Our food took forever to get. It wasn't crowded. She never brought the check and we had to force payment at register. Food is good but service is awful.

Fantastic

By Terik |

Best Mexican breakfast in San Antonio. I love this restaurant and make sure to eat there each time I come to San Antonio. Coffee, fresh and delicious. Huevos Rancheros perfect.

Realmente delicioso!

By 99jaxie |

Yes! This is an authentic Mexican restaurant! Definitely get the fideo and beans soup! You will love this place ; hearty plates with great flavor! We visit each time my son takes summer classes at Trinity. You will not have a bad dish here. There is something on the menu for everyone including picky eaters; get chicken flautas for them. I can say this place is one of the best hidden gems in SA!

Best breakfast

By Vicky R |

Best breakfast I had while in San Antonio. Every restaurant I went to seemed over priced and not tasty. This was the complete opposite. Definitely coming here again since my kids actually ate all their food.

So so tex mex

By dwinningham |

The service is a bit erratic and the interior is a bit of a safety nightmare with lots of things to trip one. Menu is so so and service not all that attentive. It is has local charm but much better places in this area.

MEXCELLENT!!!

By Lacey Ann |

Let's TACO 'bout the mouth-watering plates of food at El Milagrito's! My eyes were definitely bigger than my Stomach both times we stopped by, but the To-Go containers were empty before making it back Home so none was wasted😁. Enchiladas Verde will make others green with envy! The Chile Rellano was SO flavorful. It was the epitome of what a Chile Rellano should be (that I rarely find at a restaurant anymore). Both the Carnitas & Porkchop are Life-changing. The place is nothing fancy- which we like, the prices are unbelievably reasonable, & the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. 100% recommend😘.

This is the real deal

By Melissa P |

This is the real deal, South Texas, Tex-Mex, hole-in-the-wall, locals love it, place to eat. We went there for breakfast after a week-end in town. My husband is a menudo man and he was suitably impressed. He says Austin (our hometown) menudo is too watered down, but this menudo had tons more flavor and ingredients. I had the migas, loved that the potatoes had been fried with chorizo. Again, great flavor. The kids were happy as well so that was a plus. Don't expect anything fancy as the emphasis here is on the food. Parking is kinda dicey, but we lucked out as we beat the breakfast rush.

The best chilaquiles in...

By Andrew K |

The best chilaquiles in the world, I suspect, and you cannot beat the price.

The Best

By Terik |

Always my favorite breakfast when traveling to San Antonio. Always fresh, homemade and authentic. Staff is friendly. A pleasure to eat there.

The Best Mexican Food in San Antonio

By Matthew S |

I've lived in SA for 5 years now and I rarely eat anywhere but here when I'm craving Mexican food. They offer their full menu all day long so if you want breakfast after sleeping off the previous night's drinking, you can have a plate of chorizo and eggs with potatoes and beans, a liter sized glass of ice water and great service for under $10 after a generous tip. I was worried that after all of their recent renovations their prices would go up but they've kept their quality and their value. La casa del loco y el feo will always be my favorite.

Met our high expectations for delicious huevos rancheros!

By Sparklefifty7 |

We were not disappointed by the breakfast. I had barbacoa huevos rancheros and my husband has chilequiles nortenos. Both were delicious. The coffee was solid, too. Dishes came with tortillas. Eggs were cooked exactly right. We just loved the place.

Great authentic Mexican food

By Maribel M |

Breakfast was on point! Great authentic Mexican breakfast! Barbacoa and chorizo potatoes were the bomb! Kids also enjoyed it. Will definitely be stopping in again!

Great place for breakfast

By alexwins |

I love eating at El Milagrito when I visit San Antonio. The Huevos a la Mexicana is delicious. The service is fast and the staff was very friendly.

Rundowned cafe

By Patricia V |

I was not impressed with this café. I had two tacos and they were good. I just felt that not much was put into the upkeep of the place. It has been a restaurant that his been there for many years. I wasn't happy with when they brought the salsa. They look old and frankly I had to ask for pico de gallo instead to be safe.

Awesome breakfast!

By Rebecca L |

I was looking for a place to have a good Mexican breakfast like the ones I had at my friends' homes growing up. I was pretty excited when we got here and all of the customers seemed to be locals. I wasn't disappointed. I had the chorizo and eggs plate and it was perfect! The green sauce was wonderful. The tortillas were fresh and homemade. Everything was so good, I practically licked my plate. My husband had steak and eggs and loved his meal too. The staff was warm and friendly and the portions were huge. We got out of there for around $16 and weren't hungry again for a long time. I am so glad I "discovered" this place!

Good food

By Cristinatexas |

We visited the weekend of Dec.21/22 . First of all, the restaurant is located at the corner amongst other smaller restaurants. There is no real parking lot...it is just park where you find a space kind of thing. When you enter, the restaurant is on the crowded side both with people and space. Nonetheless, the food was excellent, authentic and the overall ambiance is pleasant. The only "problem " I see is that if you are using a Walker, rollater or a wheelchair, it would pose a problem. The entrance is handicap accessible but the tables are placed too close to each other. Overall, we enjoyed our food and the place. I would recommend it .

Excellent Tex-Mex Breakfast

By mikempink |

This is a great place to have breakfast and it is close to downtown San Antonio. They have a good selection of breakfast tacos and breakfast plates. The heuvos rancheros was good but the potatoes on this plate were mixed with chorizo but you can ask for just plain potatoes. The refried beans were very plain tasting. The menudo was very good and they serve some of the best barbacoa that I have ever tasted. Most restaurants serve menudo and barbacoa only on weekends so if you have been looking these, you can get them almost anytime. I plan to go back and try their lunch plates and want to try the barbacoa again.

New Favorite Tex Mex in S A

By docwhiteaustin |

Five of us went for "brunch" about 11 am on Sunday. Got a booth with a chair added quickly in spite of busy time of arrival. Extensive menu and seeing so much great looking food coming past us made it tough to decide, but amongst the five of us we tried gorditas ( both beef and chicken), flautas, carne guisada, beef chile releno, cheese enchiladas, and carne asada. All were extremely good. Wonderful homemade tortillas (corn and flour), tasty rice and beans, and really good green salsa (creamy and HOT!). Pretty good service and very reasonable prices for generous portions of well prepared and delicious Tex Mex food. Will return soon to try some menudo, barbacoa, and other items. Huevos rancheros looked awesome, too. Good coffee. Lack of on site parking, but worth the walk once you find a spot.

Perfect

By ronRunz |

Great breakfast. Cheap and yum. Rex next just like locals want it. Fast service. Migas are my fave here. But all is done right. Just try it.

Found my new favorite Taco!!!

By imperfectlybeautiful |

After alot of wandering around the city trying to find a decent breakfast place, we tried El Milagrito. I wasn't let down. We ordered a few tacos each to try out the different ones and my favorite is the Chilaquiles. It was soooooo flavorful and just completely yummy. The other tacos were good, especially the bean and cheese, but the Chilaquiles was seriously one of the best tacos I've ever had, and I'm a taco girl! I think the only downfall to the place was that we sat outside, as it was busy and it took quite awhile to get a server to come over. Other then that, we will DEFINITELY be back and often!

Excellent!

By TravelinFun18 |

Great authentic breakfast! Had the breakfast tacos, huevos ranchero and more! Kid friendly and nice staff

Good Prices, Dicey Food

By bobemac |

We stopped here before 11 on a weekday. They were half full. Our server was OK but there were problems with English. I wanted to order a signature egg dish so I asked for the Chilaquiles. They were supposed to be scrambled eggs with tomato, onions, and chips, covered with cheese. I found out that they do not scramble the eggs. The eggs are tossed on the grill and come out over easy. That's not what I wanted. The chicken fajitas were not like any we had ever seen. The texture was like pulled chicken with no flavor. The refried beans were tasteless. The "corn" tortillas contained flour. This was bad for anyone on a gluten free diet. The have no butter here, only hydrogenated oils pretending to be butter. Trying hard to find something, I ordered the beef enchiladas. They were great. The borracho beans were tasty and with a difference as here they use navy beans. Prices are good here. The parking is very limited, so arrive early especially on weekends. Here you have find out their strong menu items, and they have some.

Great Breakfast

By SallySaturday |

El Milagrito is more than a restaurant. It is an institution in San Antonio. This little hole in the wall is where the locals go to eat almost on a daily basis. The service is consistently good and the food comes out hot and delicious. Don't go here for the ambiance. Go here for the great food.

Good not grrat

By greeneyez2402 |

Salsa tasted like tomato juice with spices. Not a fan. Husband and I both ordered the 5 mini tacos. I got Piccadillo and he got Barbacoa. Both tasted good. Wish we could have got different types within the 5, but they require all be the same. Coffee was good. Service was also good.

We visit every time we're in San Antonio

By PhileoCorp |

We discovered this little gem nearly 10 years ago. The food is always good. The tortillas are amazing! As a matter of fact the best I have ever had. Watch the hot sauces if you're sensitive to heat. This places closes in the early afternoon so don't wait too late to get there.

Don't Miss This Place!

By Eviesroadtrips |

My husband found this place online so we decided to give it a try because of the ample menu. I am so glad we went here. The food is delicious! I had potato, bacon & egg breakfast tacos and they were great! They were generously sized- I was full after one. Salsa was fresh and tasty. My son loved the gorditas and my daughter said the enchiladas were excellent. My husband had huevos rancheros and he enjoyed that he could order them with chicharron. The only downside is that parking is a bit of a challenge, but it was worth the trouble. Service was good. We will head straight for this place next time we are in San Antonio

Great Selection of Tortas

By EISMTraveler |

We went during lunch and there are different daily specials that diners can order. I was after a Torta so I ordered the Carne Guisada Torta with grilled jalapenos. The sandwich was wonderful and the service was great. In San Antonio, Mexican and Tex-Mex food is typically a bargain.

Amazing find!

By Beege |

After a disappointing “Tex Mex” experience north of Alamo Plaza, several Lyft drivers recommended El Milagrito Cafe. Unpretentious, just friendly people and delicious food! The lunch special was a steal for under $8.

True, true Tex-mex

By HookemTravel |

It is astonishing to me that in San Antonio there is so much horrible Tex-Mex. Growing up here I have had it all, West side, south side and its rarely better than mediocre. Milagrito puts my faith back in mexican humanity. It's simple, typical SA food, not the type to eat if youre a vegetarian or on a diet of any kind. Most of their dishes are strait forward, traditional South Texas, hot and fresh. The only issue I can remember is that the papas will vary and a few times have been over done. Great for Breakfast. The inside is a little "hole in the wall" but so is this entire city. The tables are clean and the table side sauces are fresh. If you are going to be offended by chipped plaster, again, welcome to San Antonio. One note that can affect your server response time: English is spoken, however, not by everyone and it may be more efficient to order in *gasp* spanish.

Expanding

By PurplePaloma |

Milagrito is currently under growing a growth situation. They are updating the building, putting in outdoor eating spaces, etc. The waitresses are very cute. The food is cheap. Still good, but not quite as good as it was prior to remodeling.

Good Tex-Mex Lunch Specials

Very good value for lunch. I wont hesitate to come back when I'm in San Antonio. The service was also very good!

Really, really good. Huevos Rancheros, breakfast tacos, salsa, everything was spot on. One of the best in SA. Large portions, high quality, authentic & affordable. If you are near downtown & looking for awesome TexMex breakfast, come here.

Best breakfast tacos we've had in San Antonio yet

By Cameron Klein |

WOW... the best Tex-Mex breakfast we've had in San Antonio in a long-long time... Gotta pay props to the wife for finding this place. We went there with 2 other couples for late morning breakfast (brunch) and everyone LOVED it. From the outside, you wouldn't guess that this place serves great breakfast but looks can be deceiving. In San Antonio, it's hard to be the best in Tex-Mex since you have so many good places to choose from. The service was prompt and courteous. Chips and salsa were good. The Barbacoa was some of the best we've ever had. I had the Chilaquiles and they were pretty good but the Barbacoa was much better. Each plate came with fresh home made tortillas, frijoles refritos (refried beans), and papas con chorizo (cubed potatoes fried with onions and chorizo sausage). Even the coffee was good. Food was so not expensive and absolutely delicious. We will return.

Great Breakfast

We stopped by here for breakfast on our way back to Houston. Truth be told we made a wrong turn on the highway leaving the Riverwalk area and ended up on St Mary's street exit because I pulled over in order to reorient ourselves as we attempted to find I-10...it was a great mistake. Once we knew where we were, it was time to find a place to eat breakfast...El Milagrito was the closest place. The breakfast was authentic and made with fresh ingredients...the refried beans were awesome...that says a lot coming from me. Try this place, you won't be disappointed.

Stopped here on the way to the zoo. Glad we did. Food was authentic and full of flavor. Homemade tortillas were great! Great prices and fast service. We definitely will stop in again!

These are the best tacos ever. It's a must when we travel from FTW. Barbacoa, lengua, nopales are only some of the best tacos. A must stop

We love El Milagrito!!

We pretty much stumbled onto El Milagrito our first day in San Antonio. We were staying nearby and needed a place for lunch. What a find!! We had the lengue platter and albondigas. So good!! Plus, the service was excellent and the prices amazing! We went back each morning for breakfast and it was excellent each time. During the week, we saw police officers, EMTS and firefighters, students, families and couples. It seems to be a well-known, well-loved restaurant and we were very lucky to find it!

Good Breakfast

My friend and I tried El Milagrito after playing golf. They have good daily specials. I had the barbacoa plate and my friend ate the chorizo and eggs plate. Both were good and we will come back to this place. The only downside is there is no parking, so you have to find parking on the side street.

Great way to start the day!

Did a search for the best breakfast tacos in San Antonio, and this place came up repeatedly. Glad I ventured over to try it. The chorizo and potato taco in particular was really excellent. Service was not bad, although I did run out of water. It happens. As for the restaurant, it has an old sort of dive kind of feel, which is fine. They are not selling that they are a black tie white tablecloth service. And yes there is a step you have to step up to get to some tables. It is a step. Not sure when that became a "safety nightmare." Just reading some other reviews and makes me smh. Anyway, to summarize, food was good and fairly prompt and service was courteous. I would recommend if you are in that area to give it a try. I will be visiting again soon.
