Must Do Cuban Unique Experience

By SalGold |

Fritas have been around forever but they've really got it down to a science here. Great sandwiches and meals at incredibly reasonable prices and good service will keep me coming back again and again.

Not Quite our Top Cubano Sandwich

By Wayne B |

Great atmosphere but we were expecting a bit more of their Top Rated Cubano sandwich Staff was friendly and Cuban Coffee was great.

Quick and Delicious

By Julie M |

We came here before our night out for drinks. Big plate of food could not even finish it. Everything was hot and tasty. We all loved it.

Authentic Cuban food

By Overpacker24 |

Stopped by here as it had been recommended to us. Travelled to Miami from the UK and this place feels like something out of a movie! (I felt like Tony Montana was going to walk through the door) Authentic Cuban food which is definitely worth a try. Seems like a hotspot for local people too. Looked like a family run business. We tried the Cuban frita burgers and also the sweetcorn fritas which were both delicious.

Little Havana Gem

By OkePoke24 |

One of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful making suggestions. Overall an amazing experience!

Just what we needed

By DDR100 |

We went to this restaurant and were not disappointed. We ordered the Frita and would order it again. Really liked the neighborhood feel of the restaurant as well. Put this on your list of places to eat in Little Havana in Miami.

A fitting name

By Felicia A |

My dad has been dying for a good frita and dying to show me a good one as well. We did our research and found this place. It’s a nice place, very clean with ample seating. The service was prompt and friendly. The fritas were just as he described and was looking for. We also sampled other things and we were completely satisfied. The frita wasn’t overly greasy like it is in other places.

Will Fulfill Your Frita Craving

By kfitzeats |

My best friend loves fritas and finally convinced me to meet her at her favorite place which is El Rey's. I was surprised I had never been before considering that it's right next to Bird Bowl. My boyfriend and I ended up ordering a variety of fritas in which we all shared. We tried the Frita Original, the Frita Queso Suizo (swiss frita), the Frita BLT, the Frita Dulce (sweet plantain frita), and the Frita a Caballo (fried egg frita). Each was delicious and their base recipe for their recipes is truly savory! I will say that my favorites were the original and the dulce as just having the best toppings to pair with a frita! El Rey De Las Fritas will always be my go to for fritas.

Loved my first Cuban frita! Good price for a tasty lunch or snack

By SizzR |

Had my first Cuban frita with a fried egg, and now desperate to have more. Absolutely delicious and one of the best things I ate in Miami! Simple diner style with good prices.

Super value for money

By pierosMilano |

Seeing it from the outside, if we hadn't read the TA reviews, we would never have entered. Instead: TOP!!! The meat empanadas are delicious, as are the authentic Cuban fritas (typical sandwiches). Super value for money.

Cuban Food that WOWS

By Lanic195 |

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. While I was visiting Miami I had met a local of the city and asked where to get some good, authentic Cuban food. He recommended El Rey De Las Fritas and it did not disappoint. Located in the heart of Little Havana this restaurant is absolutely amazing. It was recommended that I get the "frita" which is what they are known for and I wish I could have had 10 more they were so good. I also had some Cuban coffee which was very interesting. If you like coffee, you will love what they have to offer. I definitely recommend this place if you are around!

Best burger ever

By Laurel L |

So on our last day in miami we went to el Rey de Las fritas. I had never had a cuban burger before but I have to say these guys made one of the best burgers I've ever had. I definately reccomend these guys!

Meh

By Anne C |

Made a special trip to seek this place out based on the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. We needn’t have bothered. We sat at the counter, and although our order was taken quickly, it took for-EV-er for the sandwiches to arrive. When they did, they were just okay. I was hoping for something special. I didn’t get it.

Delicious!

By pluralmile |

Read about this place before my visit, and was drooling over all the pics. It was on my list, but I almost missed it. Thankfully I made some time right before my flight and I'm so glad I did - it was SO good. I got the Frita a Caballo (comes with an egg) and added the crispy onions and regular onions, with a maracuya juice. I am STILL thinking about this meal, weeks later :) The service was nice and fast. I will definitely be going back here in my next visit!

Great Cuban Comfort Food

By Canesbiggdogg |

A cuban tradition. The Fritas were cooked to perfection and the authentic cuban sausage (butifarra) was great. Both come with onions and shoestring potatoes on fresh bread

Diner food gone right!

By RDMWorldTravel |

Very Simple... the Fritas are good, the fried chicken... WOW! a large Cuban based menu makes you want to come back over and over. Even though I was there for the Fritas, I walked away enjoying the shakes (batidos) and the Fried Chicken (chicharron de pollo) far more than the fritas. Our fritas were a bit dry and overcooked, but still tasty.

Excellent Fritas!!

By blkdoggy421 |

I remember this place when it was on 12ave and a lot smaller. Menu has expanded, the place is a lot bigger, reminds me of the old fashion diners. Fritas are the best!

Old Style Cuban Frita

By honestopinionfrank |

So I have been wanting to go to this place for years now. I am Cuban and I am always disappointed by the food at other Cuban restaurants. This place serves more then La Frita, but this is why people go there. The burger its self is on the money, made how it should be. A mix of ground beef and ground Spanish style Chorizo. Fried perfectly topped with very thin potato stick and not from a bag or container. The bun is authentic Cuban bread. All you need to add is a little Catchup and that's it. Don't ask for it with cheese or anything else, have it the way it way it was meant to be eaten.

Straight from the Airport!

By Hugo Z |

Always the first stop straight from the airport before the hotel. Gotta start the trip out right with a frita and batido de mamey. Simply exquisite!!!

"Best fritas in town"

By MikeWoodside |

No frills restaurant but very clean. Family recommended the frita (Cuban hamburger), they were off the hook, best I ever had.

Great food

By Nick G |

A little hole in the wall in Little Havana Miami. Serves great authentic Cuban food with homemade shakes and authentic service. Would defiantly return here any day if the week as I am from Boston and we do not have anything like this. Do not pay the $60 at some high end Cuban restaurant while you could pay $20 for 3 people here.

Good food

By IrishRover |

We had a group of 5 stop by for lunch. Nice menu the pork tamales was very very good. The Double Freitas was good. Over a good place to grab lunch

It almost same like Mexican food.. I might be wrong but i was at right place..

By sanju_222323 |

When you are in little Havana, you have to try their cuisine... This rest was top in trip advisor It's not fine dining, its "around the corner type" restaurant. Service was very lazy. I guess lady had to finish her shift so she was not bothered we were there. We ordered Filetillo de Pollo (Sauted chicken strips) filet de Pescado (fish filet special) .Breaded Shrimp was good Chicken was ok. Yeah, fish was good. We did not found it wow Cuban authentic cuisine And we were at right place Anyway you have to try new things Isn't it Parking- road side

An only in Miami experience!

By ARodriguezP |

Located in the heart of Miami's Little Havana neighborhood this is most probably the best spot to try a "frita cubana".... never heard of one? Well it's Cuban's answer to the American hamburger kind of similar but different. The meat patty is usually a mix of ground beef, pork and chorizo, always thin and topped with shoestring potatoes and onions on a Cuban bread bun. That's the basic "frita" but then one can request cheese or even a fried egg on top, I ordered mine with the egg and it was delicious! They do have other menu items so I started with a traditional Cuban style chicken soup but make no mistake the "frita" is the star of the menu here, how you dress it is your choice! Maybe wash it down with a milkshake or save room for a second "frita". These little sandwiches are so flavorful and can become quite addictive so be forewarned. Definitely one of those only in Miami culinary experiences so if you're visiting Miami's Little Havana neighborhood don't hesitate to give this spot a try, you'll be wishing they open a branch in your home town! (I suspect there might be a bit of a language barrier for those who don't speak Spanish but don't let that stop you, it's all part of the experience plus all you need is Google to translate and a bit of pointing at the menu and you'll have the most delicious little sandwiches ready to eat in no time!) Can't wait to go back! (I'm lucky because I currently live only minutes away from this location!)

Cuban food greatness

By Breadmore |

Went to el ray de las Fritas for lunch - was good food. The service was great for the locals. You can tell they are a favorite for them. For us the waitress was good. We got the Cuban sandwich and rice and beans - we couldn't finish - I suggest if there are 2 of u getting one of each and sharing :) but good food

Cuban fast food

By BrakiWorldTraveler |

Being few nights before at the iconic Mago de Las Fritas, we came upon this one in Little Havana. This one, el Rey is in a prime tourist location in a touristy Calle Ocho. It differs from the Mago, as it's more commercial and the ambiance is in style of a classic American diner. Also, being in that location the prices are slightly higher. However, the Cuban food is excellent, very delicious with excellent frittas and it's a nice place to have a break while exploring little Havana.

Great place to eat in Little Havana

By DrewC_13 |

The Fritas are excellent. Superb flavor. We stopped here and ate the night before a cruise. The prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly and speaks English. Don’t be intimidated by the Cuban menu...there are numerous choices for those who are not adventurous.

First Cuban - Worth It!

By Technopall |

A late lunch on a Thursday. My wife and I shared two dishes: Especial de Churrasco (skirt steak) and Frita Doble (a double frita). Both dishes were very good. I don't normally like beans, but the rice and beans with the skirt steak were really quite good. The fried sweet plantains were very tasty! The frita was tasty and we were both quite impressed with the quality of the bun. I finished my meal with my first Cuban coffee; excellent.

First Fritas!!!

By gagatorfamily |

We loved this place. We visited on a Sunday for lunch to try the Fritas. We were not disappointed! We all had Fritas and they were excellent. We also had several different juices and a papaya shake. It was all delicious, glad we sampled this local treasure!

Would you like to try the hamburger cuban cousin?

By gec424 |

If you stop by this place, you will taste a different taste of your typical hamburger. Again, this is not a tourist trap. This is a local joint where they enjoy a good lunch or early bite before dinner. Prepare yourself to make a line before you are seated. If you go this is not your last time and your taste will receive a curve ball that will strike your not only your mouth but all your senses. This is not South Beach or Collins Avenue, this is the real underground Miami.

Awesome Fritas, and excellent rest of the menu as well.

By Keith C |

Great little place with super friendly staff and delicious food. I had a Fritas but others in the party had various other dishes and all were excellent. Very reasonably priced as well.

Best pan con biste, best fritas and best batidos de Mamey.

By RoadWarrior007 |

I usually go to the Bird Rd location but they are all equally good, no frills just great food. This is a Miami institution, their food is tasty and plentiful, you go there for their sandwiches and batidos (shakes). Great value for your money

Adventure

By nana_traveler255 |

When we visit Miami, we try to find authentic local restaurants. Heard about this place on the travel channel and decided to try it.Fries came out before any other food !!. Had to ask several times for the chicken soup. The small portion was enormous! It was very good, filled with chicken, noodles, carrots, spinach, Next ordered the original Frita with cheese. It was different with a bit of spice. Couldn't really taste the cheese. Also had the milk shake, seemed to be made with syrup and ice. A little disappointed that the desserts listed were no longer available. Service is slow. While it is different, I am not sure why everyone says it is the best! Glad we went but would not be in a hurry to return.

Great little spot!

By LCullop |

The food was really good. Service was not the best, but wasn’t horrible. Recommend the fritas. Prices are very reasonable.

Great Cuban food!

By Chris Q |

Great food and service! My wife and I got here at about 2 pm and it was full. A kind gentleman shifted to give us room at the counter. Waited a while and we were asked for our orders. Ordered the midnight sandwich, tostenos (banana fritters) and a Fritas with egg. The food is hearty and very tasty. I highly recommend anyone who wants to try Cuban food to visit this place.

The only frita for me

By CrabbyOwl |

They have other items on their menu, but I don't bother looking and always go for my fritas con queso. Can't miss!

YES!

By 810echo |

Great, inexpensive Cuban food! Can't say anything about the actual restaurant, as we had it delivered, but the food itself was great!

Great food!!!

By Adam M |

We came with 4 kids and the staff was great. We tried the chicken soup and it was as delicious and ordered the frittas. First time eating cuban burgers but man it was delicious. Someone wrote try it with double meat I would say the same thing try it double meat you would taste the meat better since they pile up fries and onions on their burger.

Fried, Fried, Fried

By Nathan P |

I'm not as big of a fan of the fritas, would like to try some of the other foods on the menu that are not as fried.

The King of the Fritas

By Ryx44 |

This place is located on the famous Calle Ocho. The name comes from the famous Cuban fritas, hamburgers made of beef with shredded potato frites and homemade sauce, which I ordered with extra cheese. It was accompanied by a mango shake. The order came after about 5 minutes. The frita was not bad, sauces for seasoning were on display on the dining table. The mango shake was very good both in taste and consistency. The price-performance ratio is pretty decent here.

Nice Dinner and Friendly Atmosphere.

By Greg C |

Everyone was friendly and quick to help. Food was good. We shared a Cubano and their special Frita Cubana. Food was hot and fast. Dinner style setting with stools around counter and booths along wall. What we ordered was good and sure made correctly justa little plain. I would go back and try their plate specials. Very bright and clean.

Great sandwiches and cafe cubanos

By Kenneth H |

Always a fun lunch, and the soup and sandwiches are great. Very friendly staff and local vibe. Highly recommend.

Real deal Cuban burger

By Dan B |

Don't believe it is the original location......but it is definitely the original Frita........and it is still delicious. I have tried to duplicate these at home....with only moderate success. Perfect combination of the bun.....haven't seen them on the supermarket......the thinly perfectly seasoned meat.....crispy fried potatoes. Delicious. Add a Mamey shake and you are in heaven. Tucked off 8th street near downtown Miami, there is a horseshoe counter and booths against the wall. Larger than the original spot. mMMmMmMmMmMunch

Yummy Food

By Marlene H |

I love this place. They have the best Fritas in town and their Tamal is delicious. The servers are very friendly and the place is clean.

Excellent Fritas!

By GBohra |

While driving around Miami, Google directed is to this place for Cuban food in Little Havana and we hit the jackpot. A very basic looking joint, with counter service. But the food was to die for. The Fritas were just out of this world! The sugarcane juice was refreshing and the steak sandwiches were devoured by the kids and we had to order seconds. The flan was also very good. Would highly recommend this was a not so expensive true taste of Cuba. The service was a little slow, but the food was well worth the wait.

Nice unpretentious place.

By Idoia Z |

Nice unpretentious place. The site is good. We went because it had very good opinions. It seemed fine to me, nothing more. My grilled breasts were good, but my husband and son's breaded and Milanese fillets were not fresh at all. Of course, we saw some very good looking hamburgers coming out. I would order the grilled breasts again, but not the rest. I think they made a mistake when ordering.

Hidden Gem!

By Snelson78 |

I originally found this place on TripAdvisor, and my friends and I were not disappointed. It is located in a strip center in Little Havana, and didn't look like much from the outside, but oh my goodness, absolutely FANTASTIC! The plantains were perfect, and we had guava empanadas to start. We also had the pleasure of meeting a very nice Cuban lady that let us try some other apps, and then introduced us to a very delicious mamey smoothie (a fruit native to Cuba). I had their Frittas Burger with plantains and cheese. I'm ready for a return visit. I highly recommend while in Little Havana. It was worth the walk from where we originally got out!

One of a kind Cuban food!

By Chicana92 |

Absolutely LOVE the Fritas! They are one of a kind and I had dreamed about eating them again for over 13 years and they were just as delicious as I recalled from my childhood! The staff is friendly and service is fast!

Mind Blowing Tasty Food

By BeachyJo |

Wanted authentic Cuban food and just happened to pick this diner while in "Little Havana". The waiter was very patient with us since we were in no hurry and needed to waste some time. We tried the soup which was better than any homemade soup I've ever had. Wonderful tender large pieces of roast with large pieces of vegetables and such a flavorful broth. I tried the "Frita Suprema" which is a Cuban seasoned beef Patty topped with fried white cheese, sweet plantains and shoestring potatoes. It was amazing. My husband had a Cuban sausage hoagie which was excellent as well. Everything was served hot and promptly. The diner itself was very clean and appealing with booths and round bar stools surrounding the counter area. Many locals choose to eat here. It definitely is an excellent food choice.

Lunch time

By electlight |

It was my first visit. Ordered a cuban frita, it was delicious . The place was clean and it was fast. I recommend the place to anyone.

Quick trip to lil Havana

By Paris1221 |

Looking for a place with quick Authentic food And this place did not disappoint! We ate all our meals )adults had the flank and steak specials and our picky kids got Cuban sausage and steak and egg. Both declared best sandwiches they’ve ever had!! So nice! Lots of food for a decent price and cute dinner vibe

SW 8st

By Jim Forman |

My favorite lunch spot. Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Grilled onions lettuce tomato and those Yummy potato sticks Everything on the menu is great. You have to try

Your family will love it!

By Suzette S |

We stumbled upon this amazing place and we were pleasantly surprised at the food ! I have 2 16 years and they could not get enough of the delicious food! Our Spanish exchange student enjoyed her meal so much she begging to go back for breakfast. Best part 4 people with drinks 50 bucks!!

Burgers with a difference

By cobrito |

We came here to eat burgers. Once the original and once the double. We were impressed with both and would recommend this restaurant. The julienne fries in the burger - delicious. Also the house seasoning for the meat - YamYam. There was also free water, and afterwards we had café con leche. Everything was excellent.

Cool n clean place

By Gacek |

If you want to try typical Cuban stuff, this is the best place in town. Very clean so tasty. Food taste like straight outta Habana!

Lived up to the hype

By Kate M |

Perfect stop after cocktails at Ball & Chain. We only had to wait 2-3 minutes tops for a booth to open up. We had some fried cheese to start, and then a double frita and frita with queso. Seriously, finger-licking food burgers and a super helpful & friendly staff. Wish it wasn't 2,500 miles away from where we live!

Cold room, fab food

By Wanderer724274 |

The food was amazing. However the staff don’t have great English, luckily we had a Spanish speaker with us so we got by ok. The best value food I’ve had in a very long time. Also so tasty and simple. Service was a bit slow and it was very cold inside, but the food and the lemonade made up for it

Go to El Mago de las fritas

By Dago |

They advertise that their open at 8am. That isn't so. They told me that I would have to wait til 9am to get service. False advertising. Plus wanted to update for people who want to know about a CUBAN frita. A frita is Cuban cuisine not south American nor central American. The best place to go where it is Cuban is El mago de las fritas just a few miles away. Cuban atmosphere and great service

A Calle Ocho must

By eljuezcubano |

If you want a great frita, go to El Rey. this is a Little Havana institution. There is sit down service. The food is very good and plentiful. Would have given it an excellent except for the fact that the AC wasn’t working very well on a 94 degree Miami day

A classic is always a classic

By Rsantisteban |

This hole in the wall type place is a Cuban institution for the frita sandwich which is hard to find anywhere but South Florida. Counter service is the majority's of the place and this is definitely no frills. If you want to get your Cuban on for an inexpensive and quick lunch, this is the place.

Best fritas in town

By José L |

This is dinner style restaurant serving multiple cuban dishes but it is famous for the Fritas (cuban style "burgers" with specially seasoned meat). These are our favorite Miami fritas. I always ask the one with a fried egg (Frita a Caballo) and my wife the special with cheese. Also the regular frita is amazing with string fried potatos and fried onions. As desert, try the buñuelos. Fried cassava dough with anis sweet sirup. Bring a jacket, the place is always cold.

Excellent service

By Lidia C |

I gave it a 3stars for the service and the cleanliness of the place. Be aware that I had no idea what a Frita was until now; therefore my nostalgic taste for a frita may not be as accurate as someone from Cuba. We were looking for an out of the ordinary place saw the reviews....well someone else mentioned the 3 B’s Bueno (good) Bonito (nice) B Barato (cheap). I give it 2 B’s the latter of the 2. Everything appears fried; not sure what the meat of the Freitas was made of ...not fond of the hip of fry sticks that goes on top. My husband had the pan con chorizo but it was actually shaved hot dog. I found it tasty. My husband said it was ok. We also tried the fried malanga and corn fritters do not recommend. Over all is good if you are on a budget and hungry portions are large. If you do not have a young stomach take your Zantac or tums before and after. Heart attacknwaiting to happen. Good to try so you can say you did.

The Cuban frita

By Jessica L |

We came to try the famous frita and it was good. We also took a guava empanada, delicious jam. Friendly staff and not excessive prices. Advised!

Glad I tried it, but dont need to come back

By Emilou325 |

We tried this while in Little Havana. It was okay. The guava empanadas were really good. The idea behind the frita burger was good, but it could have been perfected by adding a sauce of some kind. We didn't love the cuban sandwich here.

Cuban Frita in Calle 8

By Purchasing2000 |

A nice place to come and experience some Cuban food specially their SPECIALITY CUBAN FRITA….a burger made with ground beef and ground chorizo(pork). I ordered my with an over easy egg… Frita a caballo . It seems like it is pretty popular since a couple of people eating at the counter were having it as well. Place is neat and clean…Service was quick too. If in town to experience something new, definitely recommend it.

Cuban food

By ajrenteria |

Delicious and always full of clients. Price is fair price and the food is delicious. Looks & feels like a restaurant on the island. Great experience when visiting Miami. Has a unique taste and worth trying their staple meal. You won’t regret these flavorable sandwiches

Wow

By fernandez97 |

You have to eat one of these when in town. The Burger Freitas el caballo is amazing. You should also try the Chicharon de Pollo.

Lunch

By Kate J |

We decided to try El Rey because of its great reviews. My husband and I and our three kids each ordered original fritas and they were awesome! We also had beef soup that was hearty and flavorful and a Cuban sandwich. I would love to return to this restaurant but we wont because of the service. Fifteen minutes to order a drink and even longer to order food at least a half an hour. My son wanted a shake after lunch but we had to tell him forget about it. I have never had bad service at a Cuban restaurant. People seated after us got taken care of first. (I'm a Florida native and not of hispanic heritage) hopefully that had nothing to do with our service. If you want to wait give it a try the food is awesome!

Excellent

By Pablo U |

This place is giving me the chance of eating one of my favorite cuban food. The relation price and quality is great. I never had a chance to ate a frita in Cuba, but I am shure in the Rey de las Fritas I can have the same experience. Every time I go to Miami don´t miss to have the pleasure of eating there.

The queue confirmed why this is a must enjoy spot in Calla 8

By Rodney P |

Great Cuban sandwiches, nice cold milkshake's and friendly customer service. This place is popular with locals and tourists alike as the food is good

You gotta eat here

By Sonya U |

I'm a huge fan of Cuban sandwiches because they are simple, delish, and cheap! Went here with the in laws. Was jammed so we had to wait about 15 min for a table. Self seating. Waitress did not speak much English but between my broken Spanish and her broken English and many "gracias" we ordered fine. Traditional Cuban sandwich on baguette with ham and cheese is a tried and true. My fav is the ham croquette. Essentially what it sounds like, a Cuban with croquettes in it. Everything on the menu is under $6. Great value for the money! There are many locations of this franchise so check it out!

Great Fritas

By dboro004 |

Great Fritas. A little hard to find the place but was a fun drive through 8th street looking. If you're looking for a traditional Cuban Frita I would reccomend it. Spend some time walking 8th street while you're there. Go for lunch, not dinner.

Cuban meets American diner

By Tim H |

Amazing food! Great coffee. This was our first experience of Cuban fast food and boy was it great! If you’re looking for a quick bite whilst experiencing something unique then this is your place!

A must stop

By whatupdude |

You can only get these in Miami. I have not been to Miami for close to 15 years and I knew exactly where I needed to stop. This was one. I'm a fan of the Frita Especial with cheese. I ate two an chased it with a Cuban coffee. All for $10. It made me happy.

Fritas y Batidos

By Edwin |

The frita and the mango we’re great. The restaurant has a super cool nostalgic and authentic atmosphere.

Great stop in Little Havana walk

By dt-2003 |

Great stop for a quick bite from Fritas to flans, we enjoyed the food and staff. Definitely worth stopping by. Family run and busy. Check it out.

Good Fritas plus

By Canesbiggdogg |

A cuban tradition. I always get the same thing when i come here. The Fritas were cooked to perfection and the authentic cuban sausage (butifarra) was great.I added cheese to my Frita this time. Both come with onions and shoestring potatoes on fresh bread

Guilty Pleasure!

By Papa G |

I’m down to just one per seating, but there was a time when Papa Gordo would devour 3 in one sitting! Cuban Burgers aka Fritas are one of the weirdest things I love to eat. This place is part of the cultural fabric of Miami’s Little Havana community. Take a Guijiro face photo in the back for a keepsake. They have got it going on over there!

Another great visit

By Amberlovestravel |

We love this little place! We always stop in for an original and croquettes...great service and food!!! Our kids love it too!

Definite Must Try!

By Meghan O |

Fritas are a must to try whether you dine in or pick up. We were referred there by our Airbnb host and we saw it when Googled local recommendations. My family tried the original Frita, the Double Frita, the fried cheese (put it in the original), and the chicken tenders and fries (for small human). Didn’t disappoint. We ordered pickup and everything was ready in a timely manner and fresh. Price was also responsible. Don’t miss this place!

Must-Stop in Little Havana

By Andrew D |

We had heard this is a must-stop when visiting Little Havana, and it did not disappoint. Very casual setting, essentially a diner. The fritas were delicious, and you get them with or without onions. Servers were super friendly and the prices are reasonable. No wonder it’s kind of a local institution — really good all the way around.

Best fritas in Miami

By bighead33 |

A Cuban diner with the best fritas outside of Cuba. No frills, just good food and service. Have been coming for many years

Authentic

By ErnestJutte |

If you're looking for the place where Cubans eat, this is the place. It's local, it's authentic, it's good. Try the Cubano sandwich.

Cuban diner? Yes!

By KRMG57 |

Stumbled into this place by chance. Super-clean diner style restaurant serving great cheap sandwiches. Can't rave enough about this place, and it was nice they had beer too. Don't be intimidated if you don't speak Spanish, there were plenty of gringos in there chowing down.

Closest breakfast place near our condo

By courtneymccollum |

And I was so thankful! It was 10:30am on a Friday and the place was pretty full the whole time we were there. I have no idea what they put on those burgers but OMG was it delicious. We actually finished every thing and the server asked if we wanted churros, flan and coffee. At first we said, nah...then my son and I looked at each other and both said yes at the same time. To all of it. And the coffee was so good I ordered another one. My son wouldn’t let me order a third because he said my heart couldn’t take, nor his nerves. They are pretty caffeinated. But I lived. And loved every delicious sip of it.

Best Fritas in Miami

By M86 |

I love everything about this place, you feel so welcome once you step in that door. You are being greeted by a very friendly server. I have been coming to this place for years now, I now have my 10 years old hooked to the Famous Fritas and so are my friends. We personally love the Frita with cheese no onions they are soooo good I usually order french fries and a Jupiña to wash it all down. I never leave disappointed the good is always fresh and delicious and the service is great too!

Try a Cuban Frita!

By Anthony C |

Twice in 1 week. We visited for the famous fritas and were not disappointed. Medium sized luncheonette style restaurant with counter seating on traditional rotating stools, and booths. The menu is large with many traditional Cuban sandwiches and dinner plates This was my 1st and 2nd taste of Cuban fritas. I was not disappointed. The Mango shake is awesome!

El Rey De Las Fritas

By edward218 |

There is a reason why they call it El rey de la fritas. The best Fritas in Miami. Must try the caballo frita traditional frita with A sunny side up egg amazing!

Awesome food

By Rick M |

Found this restaurant through trip advisor. We had the Cuban sandwich, an especial Fritas con quest, a meat empanada and a Cuban coffee. The service was great, the food was perfect and the atmosphere was like 1950's diner. From the outside' the restaurant seemed a bit intimidating for "out of towners" but once inside the whole experience was great. We would go back again.

Little Havana’s Little Gem

Good, good food

By BeachBella2015 |

If you miss a home cooked meal, this is the place to be. The service was not so great but the food was excellent.

Simply fabulous

By massimiliano a |

They had seen a review made the day before by other travellers, we followed the advice, simply fabulous sandwiches, delicious in a real environment, not built like other places in Little Havana, in fact there were no tourists but only local people Happy style place Day, super friendly staff, four large sandwiches and a coffee, and plain water $37, don't go anywhere else.

Okay

By arih92 |

It was okay. From the reviews I expected better. Fritas could have been way better. Other food was average not wow.

Incredible food

By Huggable_Sloth |

I had never heard of a Frita before today but I am fully on board now. This place is absolutely amazing. Located near little Havana you can tell this place is as authentic as it gets.

Authentic Cuban!

By Kenneth B |

Stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed the authentic Cuban food. The sandwiches were great and the kids loved the churros.

Not what I was expecting

By MSConde |

The burger was average and had no taste. I was expecting a great burger and with lots of meat and flavor, instead was bread and fries and a thin burger patty.

Best Cuban Fritas

By Gladys H |

This place is a hole in the wall in a very old strip mall. It's extremely casual with swivel stools around a wavy counter. Don't expect anything fancy here except some tasty authentic Cuban food. I go here when wanting an authentic Cuban frita. El Rey makes then consistently delicious and authentic don't go anywhere else for a Frita!

Fast dash of Cuban cuisine

By Diamondtail |

Recommended by my brother, a Miami resident, when I expressed a desire to sample some Cuban cuisine. Given that we were only interested in a quick lunch, he opted to take me to "Fritas". The location was very simple in an old strip mall, but the inside was clean and bright with seating at either the bar or several booths along the wall. There was also a take-out window in the front, so customers could drop by and get a quick meal. It was moderately full of lunch customers and the service was quick and cheerful. I ordered a "fritas de caballo", which was a fritas burger (a patty with chorizo and beef topped with fresh-cooked shoestring potatoes) with a fried egg on top. Turnaround on the order was fast and I was very pleased with the look, taste and texture of the fritas. I would recommend it again, but suggest that you get two fritas instead of one.

A true King of Cuban Cuisine....

By walterh979 |

Excellent Fritas, excellent Croquetas. Try also their Lime Juice, another special. Don't expect to find a luxury restaurant. Be prepared to be more in a Cuban atmosphere in a restaurant combined with eating bar much like in the 60´s.... Good, friendly service.

Delicious!!

By Jackie Wolfe |

The food was absolutely delicious!! Large portions and they had very reasonable prices. We can’t wait to go back to try to rice pudding.

Must visit while in little Havana

By konagyrl |

Don’t let the little size fool you. It’s filling and has a lot of favors for a little sandwich. Friendly staff and Quick service. This is a must stop while in little Havana.

Humble and comfortable

By macraee2016 |

Very casual authentic Cuban food in the heart of a little Havana. Humble and welcoming. Good prices and fresh food.

really good

By guillepinar72 |

every time i work around this place i come to have lunch. the fritas , sandwiches, and shakes are my favorites but their menu doesn't stop there.. quick efficient service if you only got one hour for lunch like me ... hope i work around their area tomorrow again!!!

The best fritas in Miami!!!!

By hectorfrommiami |

Any of the sandwiches that used to circulate in Havana before the revolution are here, and the flavor is fantastic. The omelette, Cuban, Midnight sandwiches are superb, as well as the Croquette sandwich. But the banner of this place of the frita, from the very simple one to the top of the varieties they offer. Good service, cheap prices and GREAT food

Cuban food

By Peritomoreno |

Cuban restaurant with good quality products and very good service. The food is varied with a Latin Caribbean fusion. Milanese, batters, homemade desserts. The atmosphere is good and pleasant for families. Prices are moderate, the place transports you to the 80s, which is fantastic that there are locals with personality. This townhouse in the 8th of the Litlle Habana comics, a good starting point to walk through a neighborhood with lots of salseo.

Best frita ever

By Nathan C |

Had the frita supreme with the fried cheese and maduros. Hold the onions. This is an amazing place and the food is so good. My frita was to die for.

Great Fritas

By wvillamil |

Stopped off while on vacation. I saw this place on one of those travel channel shows. We had the fritas, croquets that was amazing and s media noche. All items were excellent.

First visit

By richard p |

I like the place . fast food at it's finest. I have recommended the experience if this place to many friends. The bakery next door is really special. I would always go back.

what a find! Fritas & flan not to be missed!

By Lin |

Trip Advisor did us a solid by recommending this find. Fritas, palomitas, batidas, flan. Clean, bright, socially distant, patient & kind staff. Delicious!

The real deal! Cuban junk food at its finest. Delicious and authentic.

By 2TravelWisely |

This is THE place for fritas- the hamburger’s delicious Cuban cousin. Beautiful tropical milkshakes and a variety of comfort food dishes.

The best Minutas ( yellow filet sandwish) in town.

By 513Patricia |

Very clean, excellent food and attentive and friendly staff. My hat off to Rudy and Evely. I had the minuta con pan (yellow tail sandwish) with a malt shake and both were delicious. Try it and you will NOT be dissapointed.

A must visit flavorful off the beaten path treat!

By CONCIERGE_NAVIGATOR |

I saw this place featured in the travel channel and when my friend suggested we go visit I was thrilled. Located in the heart of the little Havana district, el Rey the las fritas is a tasty treat. A frittata is a Cuban style hamburger that is pressed and very well seasoned, topped with little fried potatoes, mine even had a fried egg on top. The restaurant is just dinner style, not much to look at but with enough flavor to make it a unique off the beaten path must visit in Miami!

Yummy Cuban burger

By Autumn M |

We had the frita original with cheese. It was different and flavorful. I didn't taste the cheese. The mamey smoothie was too sweet for me. I would come back and try something else.

"Authentic Cuban Fare"

By 1WorldTraveler9 |

The food and atmosphere at The Del Rey De Las Fritas is as close to Cuba you can get. The menu offers a variety of tasty classic Cuban food at an affordable price where you can bring the entire family. This Little Havana cafeteria is located on historic Calle Ocho with rich history. The food and service were outstanding!

My first and not last

By Amberlovestravel |

I loved this quaint little place on Calle Ocho! Our burgers were awesome! My husband is Cuban and has been here a lot as a favorite! He finally shared it with us! It's a just stop if you're visiting the area!!

Best Fritas

By WillIGoBack |

Love this place on Calle Ocho. Clean efficient and serving up some great Cuban food. Fritas are great and a deal at $4 plus the juices and mango shakes are a great compliment. Any one visiting Calle Ocho should add to their list. Will I Go Back? Yes can't wait

Great Fritas

By maggiet0813 |

For those who don't know, Fritas are the Cuban version of hamburgers but then 100% better! They basically are a mixture of ground beef with possibly chorizo and other condiments served in a bun with tiny cut onions and thinly, crispy Julianne potatoes. it's always been a secret recipe. They have different types: with bacon, with cheese, with platanos maduros, etc. the price is very fair. My 10 yr. old granddaughter loved it. There are plenty of tables and counter space. Parking is usually hard to find.

Best minuta (yellow tail smaswich) in town.

By 513Patricia |

Been there seceral times and the service is always plasant and prompt. All the waitress are smiling and happy to serve you. The fritas as well as the minutas are always fresh and delicious. Must visit when in miami.

Awesome

By Steve S |

Sooo good even picky eating 14 year-old liked it!! We had the fritas supremas and BS frita but I have to say all of them looked awesome.

Great Cuban fast food!

By wernolabound |

This place is cheap, clean and easy to get to from downtown/Brickell. Great fritas and pan con bistec. Make sure you stop in if you are visiting Miami.

Frita roll!

By Kevin B |

Old school diner counter seating. Incredible prices and delicious. Friendly staff. I wouldn’t say it’s the highest quality but the food is executed perfectly. Loved the frita and tostones. The best part was the roll. The best dinner/sandwich roll I have had. Soft but still crunchy top and held up well.

Very nice restaurant

By tsballer |

I loved this restaurant. Friendly, attentive waiter and typical Cuban food. We had several dishes to share and I can say that they were all to my taste. I will definitely return there on my next trip to Miami.

Yummy Frita with bacon and Swiss cheese

By Isabel M |

Found this place with attending a training in coral gables. It's in a shopping center, nice and clean inside.fast and friendly service. Would go again if I'm in the area. Also had the churros....so good. Prices are reasonable.

Great simple Cuban food on Calle Ocho (SW 8th St.)

By wernolabound |

I eat there at least once every couple of weeks. Great Fritas (small cuban burgers) and Pan Con Bistec (beef sandwiches) served with fresh fried julienne potatoes and all the fixings. Very cheap and good. Clean and family friendly.

Amazing food!!

By charchar |

The classic Cuban Frita was amazing, probably the best breakfast we had in Miami! The flavours were superb, very juicy patty and the mojo sauce was just perfect! So good we came back twice!

El rey de la fritas

By Jhoby O |

Air conditioning is really cold. food is really good.it took to long.and the dishes are not washed very well

Love this place!

By Laura P |

I have been able to go to this place about once a year since 2004 and I love this place. The same people are still waiting on customers and the place is very clean and inviting. A lot of food for the money and the Frita is the bomb. The have great fresh fruit juice and a cafe con leche that is wonderful. Go during slow parts of the day and you might find parking but it is worth the walk if you have to park on the street.

Real authentic Cuban food at a great price

By peppopat |

I've been coming to this place for years. The space is ample to seat everyone. I usually call ahead about 10 minutes in advance because getting the food served take a while. I keep 305-644-6054 stored in my contacts list and I suggest the same for others. The Original Frita is my personal favorite and it's packed high with julienne onions. It may take more than one to fill you up if that's all your having. Last time I went with friend the two un ate for under $10 for both. Can't find that value most anywhere, anymore!

Funny place to take a tourist guest !!

By DianaPrince |

I love Cuban food and even though I am Latin and all our food is similar, each country has its own way to prepare the food so this one is one for those originals cuban fast food places.

Delicious Fritas !

By Lynda H |

Did not know what a Frita was when coming here and was pleasantly surprised ! A casual dining atmosphere, cutesy 50's style diner with some tables and seating around a large bar. I ordered the Frita Especial con Queso and my husband Doug ordered the B.S. Frita with bacon and swiss. Both were delicious and we at every single bite. Delicious and cheap !! Great stop in the afternoon - left feeling satisfied without being stuffed.

Excellent for Cuban Food

By rdebora31 |

If you want to have a great Cuban food you must visit this restaurant. The original Frits is awesome. Prices $ very reasonable.

Only place to get awesome cuban fritas!

By Sivan M |

The restaurant is known for their own take on fritas (cuban American hamburgers). Their menu is mostly meat focused, and this specific diner has an old cuban diner theme to it. Although, parking might be a hassle; there’s a market nearby that’s within a small walking distance.

Try the mango smoothie

By Bozeday |

We dined here on a recommendation from locals. The mango smoothie was delicious. The croquettes were yummy as was the empanada. My kids were not fans of the Cuban burger and my husband and I felt it was so so. I had the plantain version. Worth a try for sure. Clean restaurant and very friendly staff. The food was just not our jam.

Cuban Experience

By JDSoui |

Walking into the diner with a 1950's look you could tell it was a good place as nearly all of the patrons were locals. The breakfast was delicious and the staff incredibly friendly and attentive. The empanada and croquetas were delicious and the breakfast plates sizeable with quality seasoning. Their bread though is something to behold - fresh, light and tastes delicious.

Best Frita Cubana

By kalikina |

This is THE best place in Miami for a REAL Cuban frita. It is served the way it should be, in a authentic Cuban bread bun. Order the original, no need for cheese; just add some ketchup and ENJOY! To drink: a can of Materva....Delicious 👍🏼

Late night bites

By TRG Customer Service |

After being starving in Miami, and not really knowing where to go, we stumbled upon this little place. Not knowing what a Frita was, we took a chance-they ended up being quite delicious, I ordered mine with bacon and cheese. Which was a good choice. Boyfriend ordered a Cuban and said it was good. Cute little fast food Cuban joint.

Best place to eat a Cuban hamburger AKA Frita

By babalubj |

A simple diner featuring mouth-watering fritas, a Cuban style beef burger patty with special condiments topped on a fresh bun with a mountain of Julien fries. Friendly service, fast food class restaurant.

This is the real deal

By RGN_7228 |

Do not expect high end, this is a little hole in the wall. The place needs maintenance it's old and worn... HOWEVER, this is where you can get traditional Cuban Fritas and they are delicious! Simple traditional food and friendly people who really work hard to make you feel like if you were a long-time friend! Dont miss the batido de mamey, a traditional fruit smoothie and of course Fritas. I will certainly go back!

Nice and not touristic

By iTravelPT |

We went to little havan what for sure is touristic. But we find that place and where happy. It’s fast food but cubanian at the same time. Prices are ok!

A great place

By misty1 |

After reading several reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to go there. It was excellent. The food was delicious. We had the Freitas. The servers were gracious. As an added delight we were there when the World Cup final was being shown on the tv. It was fun and exciting. Would recommend it.

Cuban Equivalent of a Sloppy Joe Amazing

By Chancletero89 |

Classic salty, crunchy yet fluffy Cuban goodness. This is hispanic soul food. Great straight to the point service you can expect from any Cuban establishment.

Only eat Fritas here! They're the BEST

By SeatOfMyPntsTravelr |

I've had Fritas at other places and they are not even close to the deliciousness of the Fritas at El Rey. I have not tried the other locations because I like eating in Little Havana when I'm in town. I sat at the counter and the service was excellent too.

Delicious Fritas

By Karisa981 |

This is a place with a wide array of Cuban food! We came for the fritas and they did not disappoint! We had the frita supreme and frita with bacon! They were loaded and had a great flavor ! Atmosphere is nice, service was great and we will definitely be back! Check it out

Wow - amazing Fritas burger

By BennyNorthBank |

We went there unplanned on our route south from Miami - it was brilliant. Old style Cuban diner with award winning burgers. We could not recommend this place enough. Thank you.

Typical Cuban food and the best fritas in Miami

By hectorfrommiami |

Fast service, great tasty food Cuban style, and good prices. If you order fast food like a sandwich, or a regular meal, you will be satisfied at the end. The big guava empanadas are really like the ones I ate in Cuba been a child.the sandwiches are big and taste great, but their specialty is the frita, which to me is the best frita in Miami

Awesome Cuban Frita

By Maria G |

My first time visiting El Rey de las Fritas and it was awesome!! I had the cuban frita with sweet plantains (it was sooooo good) and my husband had the original frita and another one with cheese. They were very, very good. I will be returning on a regular basis. I highly recommend it if visiting Miami and looking to eat a "Cuban" dish.

Omg go go go!

By Skylar Brady |

On a day trip to Miami we stopped in Little Havana for lunch and randomly found El Rey De Las Fritas. It's a cute laid back diner with lots of seats at the counters. I ordered the Frita Dulce which was packed with flavor and the fried plantains added a great sweetness. My family got a tamal and the Cuban and both were also delicious! I'm a wimp to spicy food and I didn't find any of it spicy, but still flavored with great spices and herbs. A local family sitting next to us at the counter suggested we get the Iron Beer Coca Cola (not an alcoholic drink) and it was the best soda we've ever had! Stopping by the local publix to buy some for back home. We also tried the fresh squeezed guarapo juice, sugar cane and it was also tasty! My whole family agreed we would absolutely come back here to try more things if we are ever in the area again.

EXCELLET FRITAS AND SUGAR CANE JUICE !!!

By Frank d |

I have not eaten a Frita since I left Cuba 56 years ago. I don't think this type "burger" exists anywhere other than in Cuba or with Cubans. Delicious !!! The Sugar Cane juice, we call it "Guarapo" was fresh squeezed and amazing. Very happy I came here for lunch.

GREAT FRITAS

By Miamimickey72 |

Just took a coworker who was in town on biz from Colorado and wanted to try some Hispanic food So I thought a Frita (Cuban burger) would really be good experience. We went for lunch and the place was packed. But the service was great. We didn't wait long for our food. The Fritas were YUMMY as always. Hot and fresh. A must for anyone in town.

Cheap good food

By dmontenegro |

My husband and I love to go and get original "fritas". The service is great and the food cheap. This is great for a quick bite but don't expect anything fancy.

Great Burger

By Axeni01 |

Forgot about stopping here in February 2014 with a local friend. He reminded me of this place and now I must say I would love to have a Frita! It is 50's diner style with Chinese restaurant style billboard/menu. Everything is in Spanish as it is in little Havana. Definitely off the beaten path. Everyone was courteous with lots of smiles. We ordered Fritas and Watermelon jugo excellent. I will be stopping back in next time in Miami for sure.

Great Cuban Fritas

By fishboy1981 |

While visiting from California, had to stop a eat a Frita. Great food and quick service. The shakes were outstanding and the Frita was delicious!

The best fritas in Miami

By hectorfrommiami |

For a typical Cuban frita, this is the place!!! They also have regular Cuban food and a good assortment of sandwiches, shakes, juices and pastries

REAL CUBAN FOOD................

By eieri |

We went there two days in a row.Love the food . We had a Cuban sandwich, vaca frita and fried chicken everything was fresh and delicious AND THEN THE NATURAL JUICES......................THIS PLACE IS A MUST IF YOU ENJOY REAL FOOD..........................

The ultimate eatery place for a classic

By majoska |

It is a unique place to eat Cuban fried. I love the thin cut potatoes, not expect what has Hamberger an American classic. Cuban frit here is much better than a classic hamberger in a classic place, shakes are the best, the mamey, the soursop shake has a wide selection of tropical fruits, bistec a caballo is super creation

Best Cuban burger ever!

By Cristy M |

El Rey De Las Fritas is iconic in Miami. This is the best Frita you will find. On point every single time...the delicious burger, string fries and soft Cuban bun...perfection. No ketchup needed...it's perfect. The frita goes perfect with a Mamey shake. Spot on! So happy the have a food truck too!

Best place to try Cuban frita burgers/sandwiches

By Archie A |

Great lunch spot after I watched a video review. Busy during meal times but no long lines to wait. Their specialty is the Cuban frita burger, with a variety of options (ranging from pork, sausage, fish, ham to even omelet), prices were $7.50-11.50. Burger size is small to medium, not surprised to see some people buy 2 burgers at a time (for 1 person). My family also tried their Cuban sandwich (not stacked full and very dry) and skirt steak (too salty). So stick with their specialty - frita. They are in a small plaza, so the parking is free.

A Place that every tourist should visit

By Grisel G |

This Place was awesome I loved the food my bf had the frita and I had the "media noche sandwich" and since they were so tasty we had to share the food its just awesome and very big portions. Affordable prices and the location is just great on calle ocho the famous cuban neighborhood they also serve breakfast which are also cheap and I guess tasty. This is a place that every tourist should visit.

El Rey lives on Calle 8 in Miami Beach, FL

By travelsafer |

After visiting the Vizcaya museum, I decided to have lunch at el Rey without knowing what exactly a frita was. If you don't live in a place with Cuban influence you probably have not heard of this dish either. La frita is a cuban burger topped with fried shoestring potatoes and a sauce and I liked it a lot. The patty is ground beef and pork with spices and the shoestring potatoes are crunchy. If I lived here I would come here again to this restaurant.

Homemade Food Away from Home

By Yan |

If you plan to stay in Miami Beach and you want to eat on a budget and still enjoy a delicious meal I would highly recommend you travel a little further to the local restaurants and diners. I stayed at Hotel Belleza and took Uber Pool Express (shared cab with others going the same area for $6) I tried two restaurants in Miami Beach without taking into account the additional tip and taxes added on the bill with totalled $$-$$$. Personally, the food around the tourist areas are not that good. After making a little more effort after researching

Good - local Cuban breakfast

By Journey746134 |

Coffe con Leche, eggs, bread, french fries. What more can you ask for. definitely a locals place but very welcoming to others. breakfast counter type with a few booths. super fast service and good inexpensive food. Parking in front lot. not in the tourist zone, close to SW 17th st. $15 Uber ride from MIami Beach waterfront.

Value

By Mely |

Amazing experience at El Rey de las fritas. At first walking is a very small diner type of establishment take a seat where ever you find place was packed but people came in and out very quickly. Very simple menu, with cuban staples at an amazing price, we ordered frita which was amazing very unique cuban flavors. Also in the menu they had guarapo, leche malteada and many more. We did not spend more than $20 and left stuffed. A win in my book!

The flavors of Little Havana

By Maxave1966 |

I had found the advice from another TripAdvisor traveler, and she was actually right, while in the more central places there were tourists, we were with the locals. Phenomenal sandwiches in terms of size and flavour, Happy Days style place, very friendly staff, prices not from the United States, 4 sandwiches and a coffee $37. Absolutely worth trying.

Don’t walk, run here! Yummy!

By vanomad |

What a wonderful find! Locally owned Cuban diner. Sat at the bar which was nice. Feel like a homey environment. Everyone seemed to know everyone. I had the ham croquettes which were fabulous! The original Frita was wonderful and the coconut flan which was perfect. 10 out of 10 recommend this place!

Delicious and fun

By gregntommy |

This is a no frills, brightly lit, place for Cuban food. I had heard about Fritas but had never had one. The server was very kind and immediately assumed we spoke Spanish. One of us does. We asked her what to order and she helped. We had the basic Frita with cheese and it was delicious. We walked around Calle 8 for a while and had a great afternoon.
