Great, simple tacos

By Dean C |

I love the tacos here! Don't expect the typical free chips and salsa that you usually get at Mexican restaurants. You won't get any. They make up for it with reasonably priced food. The margaritas are good but for what you get they are a bit over-priced.

Back in México

I trully enjoyed the sopes. I ordered 2, but i probably should have only ordered 1. However... they were so good that i finished them both.

I Love El Tizoncito!

By GorillaGirl45 |

The food is always fresh. My favorite is the Sopes Pastor...a tortilla with pork, lettuce, cheese. You add your own condiments they bring to the table...onions, sauces, lime. The guacamole and chips are great. The MEXICAN coffee is sweet and creamy. The tamarind margaritas are something special. The prices are super. Split a guacamole, two Sopes meals, and two margaritas...about $30.

Real mexican food!

I love this place, this is real mexican tacos. The sopes are delicious and a best buy, they are big!... the pastor is fantastic and I love rajas con queso. Great place, great food, great service.

An undiscovered gem!

El Tizoncito is not the type of place you decide to go to, it's a place you stumble upon. It's located near a busy intersection off of Lemmon Ave. My husband and I stumbled upon it because we were getting an oil change at Park Cities Ford and decided to walk to a place for breakfast while we waited. The only other breakfast option in walking distance was Starbuck's and we wanted something more local, so we decided to give El Tizoncito a shot. Our expectations were not all that high--Mexican cuisine is not really known for breakfast unless you're talking breakfast tacos, and that's Tex-Mex. When we saw the menu, we quickly realized how wrong we were. The food was unique, authentic and delicious. The chilequiles were simple, yet deliciously flavorful and so filling. But, the absolute best part of the meal was the "Mexican" coffee which was served with condensed milk and cinnamon. It truly was mouth wateringly good. With a breakfast offering that is so appealing we feel certain that the lunch & dinner options will be great too, and can't wait to try them!

Favorite tacos

As soon as I get into town I make plans to come to El Tizoncito. First off the margaritas are so good & strong. Remind me of mangonadas but with tequila! They’re small but man do they pack a punch. Two is my limit. As for the food. I always stick to the pastor tacos. Never have been let down. They run small so the order of 4 is perfect. Love the black bean soup they start you with when seated. Guacamole is delicious also.

Authentic,Tasty, Great Service and close to Dallas Love Field!!

By texace228 |

Just arrived in the Evening from Midland Trip. This Restaurant is about 10 minutes from Dallas Love Field on Lemmon Ave. Was to meet my family and was greeted promptly as I entered. While waiting, they offered an appetizer and their Black Bean Soup both of which were fantastic. The Taco combinations and special salsa will make your mouth water!. We shared different styles of their "Street Tacos", and all were delicious! Pricing is fairly reasonable, by no means a " huge budget buster". I recommend going on line to check out their menu. If you are in the area, check this one out, You won't be disappointed... PS: If you love Margaritas, you are at the right place!!

Good authentic Mexican food

By CarolinaKiaraOctavio |

It was good to try a different style of Mexican food. We live close to the Mexican border so the food we are accustomed to taste different than this Mexico City style food. Food was good, decently priced and I LOVED the coffee!

Yummy, not Tex MEx

Very clean place, fast service. Helpful with recommendations. Food was definitely not TexMex, but excellent. Very fresh, flavorful and unexpected. Would recommend for a nice change of pace.

Taco's and Dallas Stars!

By beauticontroldiva |

We are season ticket holders for the Dallas Stars and eat out before each game. In the effort to support small business we decided to try El Tizoncito. The taco's were awesome. Service was quick and friendly. It was easy to get off the Tollway, and just as easy to get back on.

Not a good first impression

By KylesDad |

We had an hour for lunch and wanted to try something new. Glad I had an hour. No one greeted us or offered to seat us. Once we were seated, we were pretty much left alone. We got tea to drink, but no sugar. Finally the food came, I didn't get what I ordered but didn't have time to get it fixed, so I ate it- In a hurry now. Not a lot of time to enjoy it. The food was pretty, well presented, and pretty tasty. I didn't order the steak, but got it anyway and it was pretty tough and grisly. Don't order the steak! The tortillas were tough like they had been sitting out for awhile. Long story short is I would have to think twice about going back. The only reason would be because of all the other good reviews

Love the Torta Cubana!

By Demonet |

I love this place! You MUST order the Cuban torta and wash it down with a michelada Roja. OMG what a meal! As an appetizer, get the fried cheese, you won't regret it. I have recommended this place to a few friends and they all loved it. Hope this place sticks around for many years.

Very VERY good tacos to be had here

By gordotx |

Stopped by this newish spot next to the HP Emergency Room on Lemmon for lunch recently and asked if the brisket tacos were buena. Muy buena came the response. And I have to agree. Lighly toasted small tortillas carrying perfect brisket with onions and a slice of avocado. With their excellent red sauce, they were darned near perfect. And I've had brisket tacos all over Dallas. The black beans were top of the line too. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Friendly staff.

Very fresh, unique & delicious Mexican Cuisine!

By MPGG4 |

My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Tizoncito on Lemmon Ave. The atmosphere was very inviting; the staff was friendly; the service was fantastic; but most of all, the food was delicious, delectable and unique! We started with chips and guacamole as well as the Chicharron de Queso. You just have to go there to experience this 2nd appetizer! A couple of us shared the Parrillada Tizon so that we could have a mixture of tacos. Oh, they were all so good. We also loved all the toppings and the red & green salsa for the tacos. Additionally, they brought us each a cup of black bean soup! Wow! We ended on a sweet note. We ordered the flan and sweet corn cake to share. We all agreed the flan was the BEST we have every tasted. I never had the sweet corn cake until then. I will order it again as it was incredible. Oh, and did I tell you the margaritas are wonderful as well. You must GO! There are 3 locations. Check out their website!

Taco Heaven!

By Anna Moon |

Some of the best street-style authentic Mexican tacos north of the border!!! Besides delicious tacos, they also serve sopes, enchiladas, and other botanas.

Authentic Healthy Mex

By cashnickerson |

Great place for breakfast or lunch. Instead of a bowl of chips for you to fill up on before your meal, they start you with a small hot black bean soup. They complement that with a small tray of condiments including onion, cilantro, lime and salsa. Light, tasty, affordable and refreshing experience.

Small place, but BIG in taste and style!

By squirrellyjojo2010 |

Seriously excellent flavor in all the dishes we had and the service was so friendly and efficient. Nice choices for food as well as cocktails. When you first sit, you are greeted with a small cup of black beans/soup, which I slurped up so quickly...great flavor, and a condiment tray! Then we tried the choriqueso appetizer that comes on top of the flour tortillas; and I got the brisket tacos (cooked perfectly, lots of meat and juicy) and my husband got the chicken nachos. Prices were good too....we will be back for sure!

Excellent Mexican Food

By VegasLeob |

This place was recomended to us by a sales person at Wild Bill's Western Wear and he was spot on. Excellent Tacos with Brisket, bean soup and they had good Tequila!

amazing

By Daisy C |

The service here is great, you're always welcomed with a friendly smile, you can see them as they cook your food. Small but well organized with the bar at the parillada.

Awesome

By Sarah |

The chicharron de queso is one of my favorite appetizer/treats I have had. Watching the cooks on the open grill is neat. Also, some of the best pastor tacos as well. Plain amazing!

Great for al pastor tacos

By paulsanv |

Been there several times until I got a good waitress that explained me if you order the plate is a better deal than the tacos, like the salsas and the pineapple, too bad there is not a happy hour.

Always to drink margaritas

By marinho2016 |

As a couple we always stop there to eat some tacos de pollo and mango frozen margarita , my favorite. Sometimes, I use to talk w the people there and BTW are very friendly. Start asking for their names , it's polite and makes you looks like lovely.

Amazing tacos!

By naturetack |

Just moved to Dallas and wanted a place to get some authentic Mexican food. Ordered the Parrillada Tizon, it was amazing! These tacos are as good (if not better) than the ones I've had in Mexico. The servers were very friendly too! I can't wait to go back.

Awesome

Terrific food!!! There are a few of these around town, and they are all incredible! Very fresh, a bit different but very very good!!! This is a fresh take on Mexican Cuisine, and it's terrific! Go try this place!!!

Crazy authentic

By louiscarl23 |

Love this place, everything from the tacos to agua frescas were great. Just as in Mexico, you are served a small dish of black beans to cleanse your palette while you await your food. A accoutrements dish with various veggies, cilantro, ect are brought to put on your meal and of course soccer or novelas are on the tvs. Great place

TACOS!!

By Matt T |

We stopped here on our way back home. I love street style tacos and they seemed to have very good reviews so we decided to try them. I had al pastor and the wife enjoyed the chicken tacos. The black beans they served in the beginning were excellent and the service as quick even though we came in on a Friday at 12:30ish. They even offered flour tortillas, which is great since my wife is allergic to corn. Both types of tortillas were excellent! Price was reasonable since it was a table-service restaurant. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We will certainly stop there again, should we find ourselves in that part of Dallas again.

Loved it!

Really great tacos al pastor. Awesome service. Seriously so tasty, the flavors are out of this world. I can't wait to go back!!

Dog-friendly patio

By CulturedDallasite |

Good prices and a surprisingly pleasant patio experience to be on busy Lemmon Avenue. Dogs are welcome. Brisket flautas are my favorite.

A fantastic stop after visiting the Dallas Zoo looking for Mexican food

By hannes1941 |

We were recommended to have lunch at this Tizonzito (burning charcoal) after visiting the Dallas Zoo. We are not very familiar with Dallas (we are visiting from New Jersey) but having Mexican background we gave it a trial. Excellent tacos and tortas, wit a "caldo de frijol" appetizer. My wife, our granddaughter (2 1/2) and I enjoyed our stay very much. A place to come back.

Great little joint

By JWBOO7 |

Little place almost in my backyard and never knew it was here. Tacos (pastor) are incredible along with the Huevos Rancheros... and I'm hard to please on that dish. Would def reccomend stopping in for lunch if in the area.

Really good chain of Mexican food

By Don P |

This is the second of the four restaurants in this small chain I have been to. It is really good Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. I normally/regularly go to the restaurant on Forest Lane but was nearby this location and stopped by for pick up. The restaurant was almost empty but there were a fair number of employees so must have caught them at a low point. It was friendly service and the food was just as good as I have gotten used to at their Forest Lane location (which is always pretty busy). My favorites are the Botana Platter, Tostadas de Tinga, Alhambres Pastor (with cheese) and I tried this time the Pollo Quesadilla. This is really good food, little messy to eat but very tasty.
