The latte was great! Staff was friendly. All their food choices looked delicious. It was a bit pricey, to say the least.

The options for a meal are boundless here! We stopped on our way to the Arboretum to grab a bite and I could have gotten lost in the cheese section alone. There are a lot of wonderful food options for every kind of diet under the sun, which was nice for a change since I am diabetic. The whole atmosphere is fun and it's great to get to have a little bit of all sorts of things, I was able to "cheat" without buying full portions of something like carrots and beans and felafel without ordering a huge portion. This is the perfect place for people that want to try a little of everything.

Portland Oregon..so many delicious choices. Something for everyone. If you cant find it here..you cant find it

Great deli. Lots of choices we had the fondue and a sandwich. Both were yummy. Samples are available. It was crowded but places were available.

A super fun spot with lots of delicious options for a variety of tastes. The black bean burger was the bomb. We actually went back twice for lunch and all got something different that was equally as good. If you want a bit quieter sit down experience, there is a room in the back with a fireplace that is quieter than the hustle and bustle of where you order. Great selections and food. As I noted, we ended up here twice for lunch.

Loved this place. Such a wide variety of delicious food from the grill, premade items and numerous types of salads. And for dessert, the chocolate mousse was fantastic and it was just one selection in a large dessert case. Plenty of gluten free and vegan options.

We came here after running the Shamrock Run. The food was good and there is a variety of food options. The pastrami was very good. You select your food options, pay, and then sit down.

It's not inexpensive as an adult or in any way the best deli you'll ever eat at, but it delivers tasty, fast, serviceable food for prices that are reasonable in the touristy section of town, where you can easily feed your kids for $2 - $3 a pop at the deli counters.

Delicious sandwiches and soups. Great selection of fresh hot dishes and treats. All sorts of packaged deli items. Friendly, helpful, patient staff. I could go back day after day and not be bored or duplicative for weeks. Drink selection was great. We visited during Covid and sat outside on a sunny day. Perfect!

It's a self-service place. There are many cases of food choices, both hot and cold, for any meal or snack time, including happy hour. You decide what you want; the choices are added to your plate and you pass through a quick moving line for payment. There's plentiful seating. Noisier in the main room, quieter in an adjunct room. They take care to use good quality ingredients, and have choices for people who want vegan, or gluten free.

A coffee shop But there’s more! Big selection of fresh made sandwiches and breads But there’s more! Hot selections But there’s more! Trendy little items for sale It has a fun buff with great staff but is a bit pricy.

Vegetable and sausage fritta a great choice for breakfast. Tea served in a charming multi-cup ceramic elephant. Good regular coffee. In one of the many local neighborhoods. I'd pass on the pancakes if we revisit Portland (ok but not exceptional).

Great place for a different lunch. Lots of choices, hot and cold dishes, pizza, ice cream, and salads. Near the Pittock Mansion.

We roamed from station to station, accepting samples and listening to the chefs promote their favorites. We picked a few items, paid, and collected our meals in just minutes. The toughest task is finding a place to sit at lunch in this busy deli. Everything was tasty; nothing outstanding. It’s more about the experience.

Visiting from Atlanta and found Elephant Deli through Apple Maps. It was a massive win. Most people there were “locals” from the area. Always a good sign. A lot of moving parts - people - food options with a comfortable charm. Hope to return.

I'm super lucky and live just around the corner so I'm a regular at Elephant Deli in NW. Although they open fairly early this place is not busy on weekdays for breakfast. If you just want to sip your cuppa joe and read the newspaper or interact with local regulars at the communal table, this is your time of the day. Good coffee (obviously, we're in Portland right?!), excellent pastry (I love they also sell small croissants!) Their sandwiches -majority under $10- are good. Their cheese and charcuterie is excellent. So much choice. Bread selection: it's not Ken's Artisan Bakery but good variety. in the back of the store is a small corner with cooling for soups, salads and everything that needs to stay at cooler temperatures. Beautiful salads, soups. Good variety wine from all over the globe. Tables full of lovely gifts to decorate your home. Staff is friendly (most of the times). All in all a nice place to sit down and grab a bite. Super busy over the weekend. If there's not enough space in the front there's always another seating area in the back of the building (personally: when I can't sit in front where all the hustle and bustle takes place, I'll leave. I find the back room just not as cozy but that's me).

This is so much more than a deli. You can get anything you want to eat here. Comfort food? Yes. Pizza? Yes. Seafood? Yes. Sandwiches? Yes. They have great desserts, too. You can get a hot meal that tastes as good as your mom's food. It's where the locals go. The prices are reasonable and the staff is helpful and friendly.

Wonderful brunch and bakery choices. Ate outside in a fab courtyard Have eaten here several times ....always fresh quiche, muffins and breads!

After an exhaustive 30 minutes on the phone trying to find someone who would deliver to the Silver Cloud Hotel it was not until I called Elephants that I was told it wasn't my problem to find a 3rd party to deliver, but they would help me get a courier. After 9 hours of traveling it was so nice just to be able to eat quietly in my room. Here's to the lady who answered the phone with the can do attitude instead of the you do it yourself attitude, and the food itself you may be asking absolutely excellent and everything I was promised, the chocolate shake was especially nice!! My next stay in Portland will call Elephant. Thank you!

Just had a Wednesday morning breakfast after a long flight from Europe. Elephants was recommended by a local and didn't disappoint! The breakfast was delicious but their selection of all food looked delicious. If you are planning a picnic, come here! The only disappointment was the 'barista'. Her attitude about an issue both my wife and I had with our orders ruined what was a great Portland food experience. If you want a great breakfast or a great selection of food to go. I highly recommend!

It is best to go with 1-3 people, it's just easier. I went with a group of ladies and some had a little difficulty getting around. You have to go to the different stations and order your food, then you stand in line to pay for it. The lines go fast it, the people there were very nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking.

While I usually like being served breakfast (instead of ordering at counter and picking up), this place was an awesome find. Two blocks from our Portland International Guesthouse, containing everything from outstanding coffee, to a great bar with wine and other drinks. Cheeses. Cookies. Baked goods. Refrigerator goods. Wine shop. They had friggin' everything. Confusing when you first enter, but staff was very polite, welcoming and helpful. So happy to have found this place.

This restaurant was a great find. It's just a short walk from Williams and Sonoma, the Pottery Barn and other shops on 23rd Ave. They have a wide selection to choose from. Make your own deli sandwich, have a pizza or a drink at their cosy bar. We had Mediterranean sandwiches and a Pinot Grigio. Delightful. We will definitely return now we know what to expect there.

Great place to experience the atmosphere of a Portland neighborhood! And the food is excellent! Eat inside or out.

We stopped for lunch after our hike in Forest Park and were just amazed at how good Elephants is! There are different food sections where you order what their menu has (e.g., grilled items, pizza, cold and hot sammies, etc.). I had the grilled cabrese sandwich and a side of garlic fries - yum! Everyone enjoyed their selections, and we also got soup and bread to go which turned into a really nice dinner! Highly recommended!

We ate lunch at Elephants and had a great experience. They have lots (!) of choices and can make items to order if requested. I had the wild mushroom soup (excellent) and the Carolina pulled pork sandwich (very good). For dessert I had a chocolate cupcake and it was delicious. I would recommend highly.

I visit Portland often and never miss the chance to meet my daughter at our favorite lunch place. The variety of choices, freshness of the food, and sheer pleasure of people watching is unsurpassed. We always visit with the folks around us because there are no strangers at Elephants. To top off our lunch we visit the pastries for fresh macaroons. It just doesn't get any better than this quintessential Portland charm.

From Powell Books we slogged through the light rain to this deli. It's not a Jewish-style deli like Carnegie or Katz's, but a Whole Foods-type of food stations where you walk up to the counter and place your order. Being absolutely jam-packed, waiting for your order and also finding a table are not easy. Because of all the chaos, I just ordered a bowl of mushroom soup which was tasty and full of mushrooms. I would go again but only if not crowded.

This place is excellent, especially for Happy Hour! Discounted drinks and we got a cheese fondue plate for $5! They also have a small shop and Whole Foods-like prepared food options. One of the few places near downtown with parking too!

Elephants Deli is a very busy place that is a deli/restaurant/grocery store all in one. First time visit can be a little oerwhelming but once you figure it out then you realize what an amazing place this is. They have everything from baked goods to high quality deli meats & cheeses to prepared foods. The fish & chips were the best we tried in Portland. The charcuterie was great. The burgers are fresh with a choice of toppings.

Elephants Delicatessen is evidently a local Portland institution with a lot of character. Its a good place for a quick meal or takeout. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food--nicely prepared.

You can get anything you want there! Excellent! I love the hot soupls. There is a bakery, deli, hot foods, wine bar, etc. Just about anything you could want!

Elephants has been around a long time and Portlanders know they can get good food here. Many do brunch or lunch or best- grab food to take home or wonderfully- to picnic! It's so close to Washinton park that grabbing picnic food and heading up there to our beautiful city park is a beautiful experience. What I have gotten is everything from the wild mushroom soup (SO GOOD) to sandwiches, salads and a couple of Thanksgivings my family has ordered the full meal here so we didn't have to cook. It's got a lot to offer. You can eat in or outside or to go. I recently hosted an office party for my workers and we had a wonderful time. Plus- I love the gifts they have for sale. I can't count how many times I needed a hostess or birthday gift and I found something at Elephants.

When our family of eight needed to get some dinner on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, we chose Elephants Deli. We had been there last year, and as usual the food and the staff made our eating experience a positive one! Becuase of the group seating in the back room, our family was treated to dinner by a warming fireplace and a high degree of solitude. With the exception of one other family, no loud talking or noise was bothersome during our dinner, and the food was great!

I popped into Elephant’s deli to grab a late lunch while walking about downtown Portland. I ordered the Caprese sandwich and was not disappointed. There is a variety of grab-n-go options as well as freshly made sandwiches, soups and daily entrees to choose from. Plenary of sides, drinks, and desserts to choose from as well as beer and wine. Outstanding place for a meal. There is something for everyone.

This is a great place to either sit down and have lunch or grab a prepared meal to go. They literally have something for everyone. I had a traditional cheeseburger and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We stop for a meal every time we visit family in Portland; have been stopping in for years!. We love this place! Delicious food with so many options...cold deli items and salads, the best soups, great pizza, made-to-order sandwiches, a wonderful variety of hot foods, and a yummy bakery! Everything is self-order at a counter and then bring to your seat. Seating is a little limited in the main area, but other areas are available off of the main area (but we prefer the main restaurant area for the busy vibe). The restaurant also houses a lovely gift shop with unusual and eclectic items for your home. Not inexpensive, but worth the price. Not sure, but I think they cater, too. We definitely recommend!

We fell in love with Elephant Deli several years ago and have to get their Mahi Bites every time we are there. It is a favorite place to bring our visitors.

We kind of stumbled upon this deli and boy are we glad we did. It has different stations you can go to to get a wide variety of delicious foods. I couldn't choose! A pizza station, a sandwich station, a entre' station, a drink station, a dessert station...my gosh! You order at one of the counters, get your food, then take it to the cashier to pay for it. My friends went with turkey and cheddar sandwiches. I would think 'Meh, turkey and cheddar, no thanks' but these were great. I had the lasagna bolognese and it was delicious (Chock full of veggies) although I had them heat it up a bit because it wasn't hot from sitting in the case. They gladly heated it up for me though. Service was outstanding by the way. The mushroom soup was UNBELIEVABLE! I then went over to the dessert station and I just couldn't choose! So many choices! I got a little cup of Tiramisu that was delicately delicious. We all shared that cup and then one of my friends went and got his own! $12 was my lasagna and cup of Tiramisu. Great value if you ask me. I didn't see anything that was eye popping pricey. Everything was reasonable. They had fridges filled with their goodies too that you could take home and serve, as well as to go, hot and ready. The only problem I had was in seating. There isn't much on a busy late lunch time. This was a Thursday afternoon around 1:30 and there wasn't any place to sit. People were trying to horde spots on a big long table they had in the main dining area but we pushed our way in and just sat down and ate. You can't give yourself a spare seat for privacy on either side of yourself in this kind of dining! Be decent and share the space! We will be coming back because their pizza looked wonderful and I want to try it plus, I'm already jonesen for more of that mushroom soup!

Elephant's Deli is our 'go to'...For so many reasons...Yes, the food...Go for happy hour and get the Bistro sliders or the Mahi Mahi fish tacos (with that outrageous sauce or, indulge in the calamari... I've had calamari all over country and Elephant's is in the top two! Even if you have to wait... SIT AT THE BAR!!! Eric, Kelly, John, manager Clinton, Larry... heck, all of them make you feel special.... Personally they make me feel like royalty...And I'm just a regular Joe blow. They will take care of you... I promise... While you're there try one of Kelly's special libations. .His last one was 'off the wall'

Elephant's Delicatessen offers sandwiches, soups, hot food items, desserts--the choices are endless and everything is delicious.

Popped in here to get a water for our day trip and found so much more. We wound up getting a picnic for 2 to go by buying lovely sandwiches, unique side items and a variety of drinks, sweets and munchies. I can't tell you the delight in shopping a QUALITY deli shop like this brought me.

Great selection of delicious salads, sandwiches, hot food, soups, and desserts! Everything I’ve ever tried became my new favorite! But hard to beat their curry chicken salad!

We have visited Elephants Delicatessen on many occasions while visiting family in Portland. Food is fresh, hot and delicious. Service is always very good.

Good stuff, though not great during my visit. Split a pastrami and “grown up Mac & cheese” (which has Neuske bacon and bread crumbs then run under the broiler). The pastrami tasted more like the sauce and sour kraut than pastrami). It was toasted just right and the cheese did not overpower. Mac & cheese was delicious. A good balance of flavors here and the broiler helped add a crunchy texture. Service a bit slow, so be ready to wait a bit for your food. Not bad overall. A solid "4" but no more. Based on my experience, and with all the fantastic food in Portland, I'm not sure how this restaurant is #22 out of more than 3,600 in Portland.

We walked about 30 mins to get to this deli. the pastrami sandwich was tough and a bit too greasy. It also took a long time to make. I'm from the east coast, so maybe I have high expectations. The gentlemen working the bar were very nice and helpful

Had dinner here before catching a movie at Regal 10 Cinema, just down the block. Unbelievable selection, and all good quality. I had a delicious chicken pot pie. Totally yummy! Servers were both helpful and very pleasant. Bought a marionberry scone for the next morning. A goodly amount of fruit. This will be a go to place on visits to Portland.

The Elephants Delicatessen is so cool!! They have a good bunch of options, a wonderful atmosphere, and we enjoyed our food! I got pizza and it was wonderful (being only cheese pizza..however he laughed and said you haven't tried ours, and it was very good!) A great, cute place!

First time visit and it was totally worth it. Ordered a tuna melt and a cup of Tomato Orange soup. Both items fer delicious. The soup....oh my, it was superb. Everything about this Deli was great. Can't wait to go back!

We were within walking distance of Elephant Deli, and visited 3 times: 2 for breakfast and 1 to pickup some food to go. On the breakfast trip, we also purchased salami and cheese, freshly cut by the server. That was a fun experience as we did a little sampling and talked for a bit about sightseeing in the area. With a baguette, we were set for a later lunch. Breakfast was great. First day I had the bagel with lox, lox was thinly sliced and delicious. Next day I had the two egg meal which was huge. The only thing of note, it took some time to get our breakfast, and it was not busy. This was not an issue for us, but might be if you are in a hurry. Coffee drinks were very good, though with multiple servers it was a little confusing to whom you fed the order and to whom you paid. The pizza we bought for the kids and the salad we got for my wife were also of high quality. Nice thin crust on the pizza, good balance of sauce and cheese. Overall we loved this place, just be prepared to relax and do a little shipping, instead of expecting a quick exit.

Great food, this establishment offered something for everyone. There was really an nice variety. There were so many good options. I enjoyed the tomato orange soup and the turkey Reuben.

Crazy busy place, but the cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwich were probably the best we ever had. This place also had a dessert bar and salad bar. Cool place for a quick bite to eat

Had lunch take out from the Elephants Deli in Beaverton, sister restaurant to this one, and the food was delicious and moderately priced.

What a great place to eat. If you cannot find something delicious to eat here, I feel sorry for you. Went with my family from out of town and did not want to leave.

This was a really great place to get breakfast and was always very busy. Then, 'someone' (Home Office bean-counter?) decided that the excellent oatmeal should be prepared by chefs not the counter staff. Now oatmeal is off the breakfast menu!! Oatmeal is part of breakfast in every diner/restaurant. The array of offerings this morning was just four fried items. And the excellent baked goods - scones etc. - hardly visible. Neither were the clients! The place was virtually empty. We left and patronized a rival establishment. Someone needs to re-think the breakfast offerings and make it attractive again. Diners buy other stuff, too, once they are in the fabulous Elephants.

This review is a little different. We had already eaten dinner elsewhere and were walking our dog and spotted this place. It looked interesting, so I went in to check it out. It is truly one of a kind, with a great community-feel vibe. Lots of stations and creative menus. One station that stood out had a friendly cook creating a meal for a couple sitting in front of him on bar stools. How often do you see a cook having an extended conversation with his customers as he's preparing their food..pretty cool! Also, I was in the store just before they closed and one of the female staff GAVE me a tasty woven mini-loaf cheese bread. What an unusual and welcoming gesture on her part! We will definitely partake of something at Elephants Del the next time we're in Portland!

Met a group of friends here for lunch. It's a self serve, pay, then find a table to eat. Bus your own tables. There are soups, sandwiches, breads, cheeses, pastas and a hugh assortment of salads. Yummy choices for the sweet tooth too. Also has a gift shop. They have some limited parking, or street parking. Accepts credit cards.

I eat lunch here at least once a week and get food to take home for a dinner about every other week. I love the soup and the sandwiches are terrific, too. Most of the deli choices are delicious to me, and if they aren't it is because I don't like that particularly food, not because they are badly made. If you don't like something, they will make it right. Everyone who works there is pleasant and helpful. The food is well prepared and very fresh. But I'm writing this review to praise the pies in particular. If you want hard crusts and big lumps of salt on your pie, go elsewhere and you won't have to look far because most pies in Portland aren't very good, in my opinion. Elephants keeps them simple, no weird ingredients, and the crusts are tender, flaky heaven. Rather amusingly, they are also less expensive than icky pies sold at bakeries that supposedly specialize in pies.

Our family of 4 was in town for just a day & we needed dinner but didn’t want to go far. This is located just a few blocks from our hotel so we thought we’d try it. We all loved it! It’s a cute, kitschy market type store where you can order all kinds of freshly made foods. But they also sell unique gifts, so you can browse while you wait for your food. My son & husband shared a pepperoni pizza that was delicious and my daughter and I shared a yummy, huge Rueben sandwich with potato salad. The prices are pretty reasonable and since the portions are on the larger size, sharing is definitely a money saving option. We would definitely visit again if we’re ever in the area!

I love this place! The fact that they have free parking is a big plus, but their sandwiches are great! The layout is huge and they have so many food options to choose from. Really nice staff and they have tables in the front and back.

Fantastic place to find one of a kind unique gifts for friends and family. Having experienced wonderful quality for many years - whether: gifts, baked goods, fresh-prep daily food items, coffee, candy, or to-go sandwiches and a huge selection of beverages - this place is a find. Did I forget to mention the seasonal decor and visual merchandising? Lisa Marseille consistently goes above and beyond to stylize the interior displays and merchandising and to provide an exceptional buying experience. It's fun just to go in and see what's new! Lisa helps find that perfect gift - offers suggestions and does so in a way that allows you to peruse - kudos to this long-time employee... It's truly what makes Elephants great. Keep up the nice work.

The hotel staff recommended the place. Good food, fun Knick knacks, bakery yummies, and a coffee bar. Pretty busy but worth wait.

just how I imagine an American Deli. superb range of fresh local products for use as ingredients or prepared to be eaten there. Cassandra the chef helped us choose from the breakfast menu that is basically choose what you want and how you like it and we'll do it to perfection. its not just a pancake its fat thin or medium with how many different toppings and cooked to your preference not theirs. we were in America and visited 10 states this Deli is a great great place.

My wife and I were looking for a good place to have breakfast on a Saturday morning before heading out for the day. We came across this lovely place. After walking around and admiring all the Deli offerings, we ordered. I had the Huevos Rancheros and my wife ordered the oiuthwest eggs benedict. Both were flavorful and delicious. I would definitely come back again when I'm in the area.

We have the Rubin sandwich. AWESONE! the fries ate good as well. First time coming and we cant wait to go back!

Returning from the Japanese Gardens stopped in on this highly rated delicatessen and the reviews were correct. You go station to station to order with most people taking their food to go but I ate there. Had their specialty soup and fish tacos. Soup was amazing and fish tacos were also very good. Friendly staff very clean very happy

Ate here one late on a Sunday afternoon after arriving in Portland. Cute and funky atmosphere with a cafeteria style set up. Staff very friendly and explained the process for ordering and paying. Ordered a ham and swiss sandwich along with the sweet potato kale soup at the counter. Picked our drinks out of the cooler and scoped out the delicious desserts in the bakery case. Macarons were delicious- ate dessert while waiting for lunch.Pay for your food and then wait to be called. Plenty of seating inside but outside is the best. Tables and umbrellas are clean and bright. There is also a coffee bar, wine, and beer available. Cheese area too with samples! Not super touristy with families and people riding in on their bikes for a late lunch.

Huge assortment of food to choose from. It is a bit overwhelming on your first visit on how things work, but you'll learn quickly. We asked the first employee we found and she was very nice to give us a rundown. Some items (hot) you order and then pay for prior to picking them up. Other items (dessert & cold items) can be ordered, received, and then you pay for. All items can be taken out or enjoyed here. There is a bar for those wanting a beer or glass of wine with their meal. There is a parking lot, but not that big. Enjoy.

I was very skeptical about a deli lunch, but what a place!!! You can't believe the assortment of sandwiches, salads, etc. to grab and go. Plus, you can order from the deli: charcuterie board, etc.Definitely recommend you try it for a yummy to go meal.

Great deli, free parking, love this place, be it for a cookie & tea, or for a full meal. Great full menu, always flavorful, comfortable seating and excellent customer service and attentive, courteous staff. I always feel warmly welcome at Elephants Deli.

We stopped in to get food for lunch later while on a vineyard tour. We splurged on the salmon with dill yoghurt sauce, fresh mushroom spinach salad and focaccia bread. Other people in the tour group were jealous of us, because we totally got the best food! Salmon was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the Pinot Noirs at lunchtime. But their other prepared salads and sandwiches were also very good. Also, I couldn’t resist a cheese bread roll. (This deli has incredible breads.). I didn’t eat it until the next morning with my coffee and it still tasted amazing!

Came in while in the area for a meeting and having a short break for lunch. I only had about 30 mins and was across the street, so I came in and was able to order, sit down, eat and leave within my time limit. The man at the cashier was friendly and let me try a soup before ordering, as well as gave good suggestions on their food and menu. They offer lots of sandwiches and many soups too. They also have some entrée dishes and fish tacos, etc. My fish tacos were ok, far from the best I’ve had, slightly on the bland side, but they did include fish that wasn’t fried. Their Cure Soup was excellent! It’s a flavorful type of chicken noodle soup. The venue is beautiful on a nice day, as the windows open up to the outside courtyard area. Definitely worth stopping in for dessert or soup!

When was the last time you ate something healthy, flavourful, and fun at an airport? Don’t rush, I’ll wait. Well, next time you fly through Portland, try this outpost of a popular Portland “deli” - although I had a spicy Jamaican curry and brown rice. Not sure that's typical deli food, but there are lots of soups, salads, and sandwiches to grab and go, all made fresh daily.

I was blown away by the choices here! The food was super delish... friendly servers. Everything under the sun that you could imagine plus more. I would definitely take friends and family there if we lived closer! It’s a must stop!

Have been going here for 15+ years ... only live 3 1/2 blocks away. Some first class bartenders with excellent cocktail and beer and choices. They have a grill, a wood fired oven for pizza and more, a hot case for hot goods, a cold case with salads and cold dishes, a sandwich/soup station, a cheese and charcuterie station. Takeout items galore, along with interesting wines and entertainment items, also for purchase. This is a wonderful place. Oh ... I forgot: great coffee/espresso drinks. Also quality desserts and ice cream.

Such a cute, old style feel. I love how it’s like a little coffee shop / deli place. It’s a really interesting place & the food is really good.

This is the our second trip to Portland and this is our second trip to the Elephants Deli . . .which we consider the best Deli in the City. It offers eat in or take out and prepared items. We ate there twice the first time in the city and ate there twice again this time. Had the Cubano sandwich with the tomato orange soup, then the Caprese sandwich the second go around . . .recommed both. We prefer this location as it is larger and has outdoor seating. Beer and wine is available as well. This place does not disappoint!!

I have never seen a place like this before. So many different stations to order food to eat there or to go. Traditional deli plus wine, beer, gifts, burgers, pastas, sandwiches and desserts. A must visit if in Portland!

This place is unbelievable. From cheese to charcuterie, sandwiches to soups, chocolates to desserts, let alone special gifts to take time browsing through. Elephants reminds me of different European shops and bakeries I've been too. It hast that high quality, handmade fresh food, often artisanal, and superb customer service. My husband and I bought take out (sandwiches/soups) twice, and I put together an antipasto with the help of a woman behind the sausage/salami area. Everything was delicious. I also bought gifts and chocolates here. Being walking distance from my second home, I will definitely be returning to Elephants in the future, repeatedly!

We were looking for a cafe style place to eat. I didn’t have time to read the reviews so off we went. If this is your first time know that it’s done cafeteria style. You order from the area you want and they will give you a receipt to take up front to pay. Once you pay then you start looking for a spot to sit. There are not many spots near the front but there is a large area in the back with plenty of seating. Food was delicious with large serving sizes so would easily be split between two people. One major plus is that they have their own parking lot.

order at the counter, pay and find a seat in one of two rooms. best soups, great variety of hot and cold meals. excellent draft beers. never disappointed for lunch or dinner.

We are at many places in Portland and I think this was one of the most satisfying and flavorful. They have lots of variety and it all is prepared well and tastes good. Try this place if you're looking for a nice spot to grab lunch (even to go). We had sandwhiches and the orzo pasta and everything was yummy. Pizza looked really good but we didn't have the stomach space to try that as well...

Everything from a delicious breakfast to happy hour and wonderful dinner- truly a lovely spot with excellent service and food.

Got a take out salad. This place is busy at lunch time. The gift shop has soaps, creams, lotions, stationery, and a few toys.

I'm a native Oregonian, but Portland has never been one of my haunts. Luckily my brother-in-law is and always has a great place for breakfast lunch or dinner. In this case you could have all three depending on the time of day you are there for your meal We went for at Saturday breakfast . By we I mean my brother-in-law.his wife, my wife and me. It was an excellent choice. You could spend hours here just looking at all the fruit, breads, desserts, deli stuff, and nick racks. You order from the counter, and shortly there after your meal come to the table. We had eggs benedict, eggs, and bacon, french toast, and my sister -in law- had a loaf of walnut bread with jam( Ok so we all munched on it) everything was perfect. You could sit here, enjoy your food, simple coffee or tea, or go crazy at the coffee bar. People watch, enjoy the aromas, and just have a great experience like we did.

Unfortunately we arrived near closing time so quite a bit of their hot food and fresh sandwiches were not available but we chose pre-packaged meals from the cooler and were quite pleased with the curry, the enchiladas, and the corn chowder. The sandwiches looked very fresh but we did not try them. The amazing variety of products they carry in addition to the hot food and pre-packaged is really amazing! This place is worth a visit just to browse the huge selections....I'll be you won't leave empty-handed! (However -- one caveat: My companion tells me that, by late evening, the restroom was in deplorable condition.......The PUBLIC areas seemed very clean._)

Found this place 2 blocks from our hotel - perfect for breakfast or lunch - best coffee! Everything is laid back - and food so fresh and beautiful - order fresh omelets, sandwiches, homemade milkshakes, pick up a bottle of wine or ready made meals that looked delicious! Sit and enjoy your meal inside or out or in their garden room. Come to Happy hour every day for great bar drinks and wine/beer and entertaining bartenders. We loved this place! Sounds a bit crazy, but it made our stay in Portland really enjoyable!

Wow. It just doesn't get any better!! Unbelievable quality and selection of food. It's like everything I've ever dreamed of and more! Excellent service really adds to everything. Thank you!!

This little out of the way place is surprising. Its actually kind of large, but its tucked into the trees. Parking seems sparse, but I walked up here and just stumbled upon it about the time I was getting hungry. They have EVERYTHING. Deserts, pizza, hamburgers, a full deli of prepared meals, entrees, meats and cheeses, Hot and cold food, a bar, a gift and gourmet delicacies section. Its insane how much they have crammed in there. Think Whole Foods and make it twice as good with more stuff. I don't know, its hard to describe. Just go! Its a little confusing a how it works but first off, its community seating - but precious little of it, which is the only drawback. Bottom line, just go around to all the stations from grill to deli, to pizza and the soups, to the bar and the bakery to desert and tell them what you want. Its all weighed and you get a sticker or stickers on your plate. Go to on of the 4 four registers and pay - then hope a chair opens up. One did for me. When done, you buss (clean) your own spot and go ... Its a must do...and worth the walk, which I recommend.

Every trip to Portland finds me here at least once. It's near Washington park rose garden, and the trendy 23rd street shopping district. Oh yeah, the food and service was outstanding! Besides the deli, there's a bakery, candy counter, and a coffee bar

Also known as the Green Elephant. Family went for breakfast, pleasantly surprised. Wide selection, great food & atmosphere. Classic marble counters. Would absolutely go again!

Super tasty food, and the place is incredible. I had a great experience being there, without a doubt, I would return a thousand times more!

Stopped by after arriving to town based on Uber recommendation. It is a delightful cross between authentic deli and specialty food store. Roast beef sandwich has the tangiest horseradish I have had in a while. We recommend the roasted seasonal veggies. Great drink selection.

Was here to have a quick lunch and was impressed by the variety of menu items and extras like big gummy bears! And cold drinks in their fridge! I had the black bean burger and it was very very good! Plus requested no bread no fries and they accommodated me splendidly! Totally recommendable:)

We found this spot near our hotel and it did not disappoint. We ate at this spot everyday once we discovered it, 4/7 days. They have everything you could want. Coffee, gourmet and regular, tea, desserts, and my favorite comfort food chicken strips. The breakfast is delicious too. I love just going there for the ambiance, think Sgt Pepper's band meets Lewis Carrol but in a non gimmicky way. Highly recommend for families because everyone will leave happy.

I love this deli - it has great food, both to eat in or to purchase to take home. The prepared foods are excellent, the breads are excellent and the wine selection is small but very high quality and reasonably priced.

We enjoyed visiting this eatery! We expected a sandwich deli type place. Instead, we walked into this large building with various mini-eateries inside! It was like a smorgasbord cafeteria! We walked about from one station to another, as each one offered different types of food--sandwiches, burgers, Mexican food, hot entrees, and best of all for my husband, Stumptown coffee with free refills. We ordered huge chocolate chip cookies for dessert, and I bought some lovely gourmet cheese and crackers for my bed and breakfast host. Lots of families and people of all ages. Good food, reasonable prices. A fun place to visit and eat.

We went in for lunch and came out with enough food for 2-3 meals. Everything looked so delicious we couldn't decide. Highly recommend!

They not only serve food they are also a deli that offers delicious food to take home. We had the egg salad sandwich with soup. They were both very good I must say. Plus I had coffee. They serve Stumptown Coffee. What could be better? Service was friendly and efficient. It's a cute little place not too far from The Japanese Garden we had visited. I especially liked the Halloween decorations they had put up. Very nice touch to say the least. Oh, yeah, they do have parking too.

A great place to stop either for breakfast/lunch dishes or a full deli counter with creative choices. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

We would recommend for a pleasant and quick bistro lunch or coffee and treats . Just around the corner from Nordstroms. Very popular and in turn very busy. Lots of take out. Seating was tight but we were ok with it. If weather had been better they had seating outside. Food was good quality. Try their famous tomato soup with your sandwich.

We were first-timers at this cool eatery, so there was some confusion on our part about their system. This deli has various stations (deli sandwiches, hot food, deli salads, sweets, etc) and customers pick and choose. Great concept once we figured it out! The egg salad was delicious and my husband’s fried chicken sandwich was excellent! They also have lots of side items that you can buy by the pound and also beer and ciders on tap. So many good choices! Seating was available outside, which was very nice.

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday. There's lots of choices from soups, sandwiches, salads, to entrees. Staff was friendly and willing to accommodate orders. It was fun to just look around the store too and pick-up a few gifts. Don't be afraid to eat in the back too... it was quieter and there's lots of room.

There's no denying this is a fun place to visit because of the huge variety of offerings, but the food was actually rather hit or miss and some is rather pricey. I liked that I was able to see and order at the counter hot food in the exact portion sizes I wanted. My Wild Mushroom Soup was really excellent while hubby's chicken soup was flavorful but mostly broth and his Patty Melt was standard. My small servings of meatloaf with scalloped potatoes were also pretty standard. The Pecan Caramel Bar was really tasty. Free parking, hot and cold food, a wide variety of deli offerings to take home, very friendly service, samples. Tables inside were very close together and there are a few outside tables that would be better if weather permitted.

We attended a first rate wine tasting dinner here. The Owen Roe wines were beautifully paired with a lovely crisp salad and the steak was perfectly prepared.

Gift shop, bakery, ice cream bar, breakfast bar, and oh my, the calamari! Everyone sits a long, well worn wooden tables and feasts! I would have loved to go back many times to try all the offerings.

I was in town visiting family and my sister's family took us here for lunch on a Saturday and I got a wonderful surprise. The delicatessen is refreshingly clean, we were able to ask all the questions we wanted, we were able to belly up to the bar and taste some wonderful soups, and the staff was very encouraging and helpful. Only the freshest ingredients used, and some tasteful twists on old standbys. Great job.

I've been there a few times. The first time I went I Loved it. The next, not so much. Every time after I found what to order and it was good. They have a huge selection of different kinds and types of foods - From American to Italian and in between. I like the atmosphere there and they staff is nice.

I'm still sitting at this place and feel the need to share how good it is... Having read about the Orange Tomato Soup I asked for a 1/2 pint (should have asked for a full pint) and it was even better than the reviews, a perfect balance of flavor. We asked for a Reuben and a Tuscan sandwich, and it was perhaps the best Reuben I've had in a long time, while the Tuscan was amazing as well. Area surrounding the restaurant is very nice, and has its own parking lot (a plus) Will certainly come back on a future trip to Portland...

Variety of foods, organic and not organic :) Very friendly. Sandwiches wholesome, healthy juices for children, breakfast meals were filling. Ate outside for lunch and were early enough to eat inside on a Saturday for breakfast. A wide variety of cheeses which my son enjoyed as we are from the Land of Cheese in WI - took some to our OR Coast week - sorry Tillamook!

Used them for a business gathering in Portland, and they did a great job and were very pleasant to work with. Would highly recommend for a catered working lunch.

I enjoyed the vegan carrot turmeric soup. Such great flavor and the last thing I ate before having to leave Portland. What a great way to end the trip. Yum!

The absolute ONLY reason anyone has ever given this place less than 5 stars is because they work for a competing business! This is world-class, handmade food at its best. Wonderful staff, beautiful locale. Unreal variety and quality. I will eat here with family and friends until the day I die!! Thank you!!

On a recent road trip with my Mum, to the Oregon coast, our daughter and daughter-in-law, who is vegetarian stopped of en-route at this wonderful, Deli, a great selection, quick friendly service, excellent choice of sea-food salads sandwiches cookies and beverages, a must if your passing through Portland.

I can't fathom how this place has such longevity and success. They cheap out on ingredients and charge up the wazoo. Their baked goods for example are mediocre at best, yet they charge as much as the top local bakeries which make a product ten times better. Example: they have a sandwich misleadingly labeled "Turkey & Avocado". There's very little avocado. The second ingredient is cheap pickled canned pepperoncini. Yuck. Completely ruins and subverts the anticipated flavor. The only time I eat there is an hour before closing when selected items are half price, but even then I must be selective as to not be disappointed. They modeled their shop on Zabar's of NYC but it is a sad imitation.

What a great find for lunch. Very large menu, plenty of options for anyone. It's a bit chaotic, and they could have someone explaining where to order, etc. And we parked in their lot, which was a plus!

Enjoyed a pancake, eggs, and some really tasty bacon here today. It was perfectly crispy. Service was friendly. Try the brand of coffee with the monastery name in it. This was a great launching point for our hike to Washington Park.

A quality ground beef patty, but they ran out of buns and substituted white bread which did NOT hold up and basically disintegrated before the BURGER could be eaten. What would have been a really good burger- turned out to be quite disappointing due to the bread selection made by the kitchen .

I've been going to Elephants for years - they do a nice job for prepared fresh foods... presentation is outstanding. They have a great bakery / cookies and bread... offer Coffee/Teas and a wide Beverage selection. Aside, from the Deli - They have unique gifts from all over. Prices reflect the uniqueness and are upscale.

This is a fun place with great food. We had amazing soup and shared carbonara. It's sort of cafeteria style where you go to different food stations and then a cashier at the end. Just as much as the food I love the decor. It was decorated for Halloween and had nice giftware for sale. I will definitely go there every time I'm in Portland.

I stopped in with my friend for lunch and it's a very nice place . I can say its like a mini New Seasons , they have different stations and you can pick food from them and find a open seat and enjoy your meal . Nice presentation and displays for the food . The prices are on the top end for this time of establishment but I didn't find it outrageous . I had a nice time , the staff was friendly and attentive , I would recommend going here to other .

Visiting the area and found this place on Trip Advisor. What a fun place. Food was good and quick. Staff was friendly and helpful. You order, then pick up and sit at tables inside, outside or out back. Lively place. Would definitely go again. I didn't purchase any of the other goods or wares they have but food looked good and the gift items quite unique. We do recommend.

In short: We all miss Roses once on 23rd, a traditional deli with 9"high cakes... twenty + years later I was glad to find Elephants to take over the neighbourhood. For casual feast, lunch or diner enjoy their many stands of warm food, pizza, deli selection and deserts, there is a counter for every family member. No one will be let down.

A neat and eclectic deli style eatery in downtown. I had an excellent Reubens sandwich and my colleague enjoyed their fish tacos. Lots of variety, beautiful food displayed, and a cool vibe in the place. Worth the trip.

The tomato soup was spectacular with the cheesy twisted bread sticks. They give samples so you can enjoy and choose the best food. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice busy atmosphere. A great deli overall. The soup recipe is available online, added perk!

We were so happy to find a delicatessen which had adequate parking for those of us who don't live or work nearby. There is parking in front and behind the Delicatessen. When we walked in it was for the first time and one of the employees saw us and welcomed us and gave us a tutorial on how ordering food worked. We got some wild mushroom soup and a grilled cheese with tomato and spinach sandwich. We ordered and got the ticket and then looked around to see what else we wanted. When we had all our purchases we paid and the the ticket was stamped paid. We gave the stamped ticket to them when we picked up the order. There was a table so we enjoyed the ambiance as we ate. Good food and an enjoyable visit.

This is a very nice, family friend deli located in the NW area. There are a lot of selections, and ideal for a large group with different dietary needs. Parking isn't a problem, and the staffs are very friendly. Sitting can be challenging sometimes.

Our family goes to Elephants Delicatessen at least 8 times a year. They have an array of the most delicious food in which to take home and spare much cooking preparation. Healthy choices of foods are available too. Due to traffic in Portland, we usually get there in the morning hours. Elephants is worth a visit!

GREAT deli. Been shopping there for many years, both at their current location and their previous one. Eat there or take home. Great soups, salads, pasta dishes (fresh or frozen), breads, desserts, candies, and every imaginable other deli item. Free off-street parking. They also have a “garden room” (not really a garden) for special events.

We picked up food for a picnic lunch at Washington Park. There were lots of gourmet choices (may be a challenge for picky eaters; my picky eater didn't find anything). I was really liking the soup; I got the tomato-orange, which sounded different, but was similar to tomato-basil. A winning combo! They offer tastes of the soup, and there were at least 4 different choices. The others in our party chose sandwiches.

Our group of five visited here yesterday with high expectations based on yelp reviews. We ordered a variety of dishes from pizza, polenta salads and sandwiches. The polenta was dry, very dry. When my mom, who ordered it, asked for a little extra marinara sauce to help with the dryness, she was told they don't have any. Really? You offer lasagne, pizza as well as polenta and you have no marinara sauce? I ordered pizza that sounded like it would be delicious. Artichoke hearts, cheese, etc. It was really devoid of any flavor, though the crust was good enough. Even my daughter, who prefers lightly seasoned food commented that the pizza was bland. We left half of it behind. We also ordered salads from the deli case. The grilled eggplant, olives and capers was edible, though nothing to write home about. The kale with butternut squash salad was a better choice. Others ordered a sandwich, with french fries. Both were average. On a whole, I think this deli is over rated.

Remember your parents telling you, "You get what you pay for, kid?" That's Elephants. For $12 you get a massive plate of french fries and fried mahi-mahi, also known as fish and chips. Yowser. Here you bus your own table, even wipe it off with paper towels provided. The free water cooler and plastic glasses are next to the napkins, and silverware. For takeout, plastic cutlery. It's a comfortable place to eat, every food item is fresh right there in front of your eyes. BTW, the fish and chips could easily serve 2 even if you're not from the UK. So much food to choose from.

The menu is full of Yummy choices and definitely varried and tasty The Mac & Cheese is worth the visit.

We stopped here before heading out to the willamette valley for wine tasting and picked up charcuterie and cheese. It was packaged perfectly and was the perfect pairing w the light wines of the valley. We had the charcuterie and Nobel cheese plate w bread and it was a little too much for two, but delish. We just hated to waste it. Definitely will return!

On our way to the the International Rose Test Garden, we stopped off at Elephant's for lunch. My wife had a grilled tomato & cheese, while I had a turkey sandwich. The multigrain bread was good, but there was only one medium sized slice of turkey on the sandwich. We did finish by sharing a large chocolate chip cookie, which was probably the best part of our visit. Nothing special, but the prices were reasonable. Our lunch ran a little under $20.

We were visiting family who suggested ELEPHANT'S DELI as a place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We tried the Breakfast route and enjoyed some of their scones and cinnamon rolls along with delicious coffee varieties. We were very pleased with the experience and elected to return the next day for supper. We had sandwiches and salads, and the kids at BIG Hamburgers with all of the fixings! Again, the food and staff did not disappoint!

Amazing deli with lots of different "stations." Desserts over here, sandwiches there, amazing stuff in the fridge cases, amazing stuff in tabletop displays. Worth a special trip. There's seating inside (and I think outside?) where you can eat your takeout.

Grabbed quick takeout after shopping for granite countertops in the NW Industrial district; happy to find free parking spot in the deli's lot around 1 PM. My sister had a generous egg salad sandwich that she later shared with her spouse at home; as a vegan, my choices were slim: salad sans the cheese, pizza sans the cheese (they did not offer vegan cheese), risotto that was too uch starch, a quinoa salad with black beans and sweet potato--I took the later (not very many veggies or black beans, but tasty). Althought the place was crowded, with many stations and one cashier island, folks were polite and we got in and out pretty smoothly. I did score a crusty loaf of whole wheat walnut sourdough bread that I continue to enjoy back home in Eugene.

This legendary Nob Hill deli has lots of parking which in this neighborhood is like GOLD, if you get there first. However, the reason you visit is because it is a deli and that is what you love. Options are many...look around...don't rush...samis...soups...fresh made salads...breads...and the list goes on. Order on the spot fresh. Just trolling thru the place is fun. The communal tables are gone so grab a patio table with a number they give you as you enter. Order and return to your table for a delightful lunch. Hard-working and friendly staff are so helpful..you can tell these folks are well trained and want to please guests. What a concept. The meats, the bread, the fixin's were wonderful...and a good VALUE. Oh, did I mention, they have parking! Cheers.

I'm not sure why the high reviews for this place - I guess I'll be the exception. My turkey Rueben was the least flavorful sandwich I have ever had in my life. Very little turkey, almost imperceptible sauce, bland bread, under cooked. Very confusing approach to customer service - ordering at multiple stations for different food, standing awkwardly waiting for 30 minutes for two sandwiches, paying at a different location. I'm giving this a poor rating instead of a terrible because my wife said her fish sandwich was ok. If this is the type of dining experience you would enjoy then this is the place for you.

We stopped in for a coffee and pastry. Place is cute, employee's very friendly and the atmosphere was fun! Coffee was excellent and the pastry and cookie we had were fresh and oh so tasty. A great little place, and a pleasant find.

Lots of fresh and premade options. Employees were friendly. There was lots of seating. Only negative is you don't know the prices until it's time to pay. Pizza crust was a bit chewy, wedge salad did not have enough items on it and calamari was flavorful and crispy but very overpriced and a bit oily. Seems to stay busy.

My out-of-town friend and I went to lunch here last week. I had their only soup that was not cream based, and found it to be quite flavorful. Also had a piece of the focaccia bread which was also quite good. Friend had servings of two of the salads, and said they were both good. What amazed me was how like a bee hive it was with people at all of the various areas getting food then scurrying over to pay for it before finding a spot to eat! We sat at the dessert "bar" area where we watched ice cream milk shakes being made. It was a fun lunch!

It has all of the elements needed for a great casual outing with friends. Lots of menu choices and the food is phenomenal.

The Corbett site is tight quarters with no signs or indications where the lines should be for getting food or paying for it. Since there were two cashiers working, I assumed there were two lines. I was loudly scolded by the woman cashier that there was only one line and to get in it. Very demeaning, particularly since it was an innocent mistake. I will not return to an Elephant's Restaurant - don't need to be publicly shamed and treated poorly.

Very ordinary and some items were tasteless. Crab cakes were not good. Stuffed grape leaves were also not good. Wild rice was bad. Barbecue pork, salmon, roasted vegetables, flat iron steak all uninteresting. And expensive for what you get in terms of quantity and taste.

Returned to this longtime favorite after long absence to find that it has grown much larger but the service and food have deteriorated. Such a shame! We came in at opening time on a holiday weekend and ordered breakfast specials. Three of us ordered fritattta. None were freshly prepared and the predominant ingredient was shredded potatoes. These were barely acceptable but worse than the food prep was the service. Service was slow and inefficient from start to finish. We were seated at the mis-named "Garden Room" which was just a big spare room with a potted plant and no view of outdoors. We had to ask for silverware, water and hot sauce, each required a different request. After we finished we had to clear our own plates. Entry required walking around the building and climbing a set of stairs, exit by a different set of stairs. Difficult for someone handicapped. Too bad this long-time food emporium favorite has gone so far down hill in a neighborhood loaded with better alternatives. e were seated inside in the mis-named "Garden Room" it

Came across this lovely delicatessen by accident. Great hot and cold food a very reasonable prices. Sandwiches, soups, curry, salads

A pleasantly bustling, busy place. Actually a market with food "stations" where you order food: pizza, grill, sandwiches and soups, pastries and cookies. Very casual. Delicious food, reasonable prices. Friendly folks.

plenty to choice from soups, salads and try the special. CHicken enchilda with mixed vegetables. A cozy restaurant with great food. glad I ate here Wow! fast service with friendly people. get there early since limited seating.

By chance I drove by and was interested in trying out the food. Elephants is much much more than a restaurant. It is a delicatessen/store/fresh made food place where you can literally get 'what you want'. It was a little overwhelming at first, but the staff is super helpful and the food is excellent. One of the few places that is on both of our 'must return' list. More than just great food, it's a true Portland experience.

Great fresh choices for entrees, wood-fired pizzas, bakery items, et cetera. There were four of us and we all ordered very different items--fish, burgers, chicken--all good. Cookies from the bakery were a big hit, too. Solid lunch choice for us!

Really liked this place. It is market style, where there are drinks & some food displayed like a grocery store, and then food stations to order fresh/hot food. The food was excellent, the beer selection was good, the coffee was tasty, and you can sit outside. I enjoyed getting to pick exactly what I wanted to eat. Prices were good too.

Love the many good choices one has here. Also the ability to get food to go and shop is novel. Our group enjoyed fish tacos, pizza and a Rueben. Everybody was happy and we used the back room to stay and chat without feeling guilty as if we were taking up restaurant space. One slice of delicious chocolate cake was a hit! We’ll go back soon.

I love the Tomato Orange soup, I am visiting from Seattle, but originally from Portland so make an effort to make sure I get a chance to visit. Had the Caprese grilled sandwich and great location down near Pioneer Square and Nordstrom's in site!

They have all kinds of food, snack and drinks. There is a large space to eat in. It's a great place for lunch.

Cashier assembled powdered egg breakfast sandwich with tasteless sausage on I toasted bagels and warmed up in a microwave. Did not wash hands or wear gloves. Soup tasted like it was from a cartoon. Way overpriced not good food $30 into the disposal

Great customer service and cleanliness. Wonderful experience, delicious food and good price. We were served by Tim who gave great recommendations on food and super cool personality.

We always stop here to grab the amazing cheese twists and other snacks. This time however we also tried the shrimp tacos and quesadilla. Both were amazing and can be eaten there or taken back to your hotel. Also I can’t say enough about the Elephant Cure soup. If you ever feel under the weather this will help kick whatever you have.

Nice selection of cheeses and meats. It was a little confusing where to start as the deli counter and bar and tables and shopping area are all intermingled without much signage. We ended up asking the bartender and he was happy to point us in the right direction. We gave the person at the deli a price range and hunger level and he loaded up a very delicious selection for us. We liked it so much that we meant to go back to pick up fixings for a picnic but never did make it before we had to fly home. Next time, I'd like to try some of the casseroles and salads they have mixed up!

Elephants Delicatessan is much more than a deli. It is also a food store and has a huge variety of prepared foods and take home meals. One of the best burgers I have had and also the best fish and chips we tried in Portland. It is a bustling place that takes a little time to figure out what you are supposed to do to order but the staff is very helpful and friendly.

My husband and I aren't familiar with Portland, so we didn't know what we were walking into when we chose to go here for something "light" to hold us over until dinner. There is so much to choose from! The staff is also incredibly welcoming and helpful. We shared a rueben with garlic fries, and it is easily the best rueben we've ever had! We will be coming here for food whenever we are back in Portland!

Had the two egg breakfast here. Two perfect over-easy eggs, two strips of premium bacon, from scratch corned beef hash and two slices of walnut toast for under $10. Wonderful! Also had a ham and Swiss on baguette. Delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant.

I have heard so much about Elephants Deli and finally got here! And I wasn't disappointed. They have a large selection of sandwiches, soups and salads. Everything is appealingly displayed. Staff was ready and willing to answer all my questions.
Tasty breakfast
We went for breakfast. It's a beautiful shop. I had an omelet which came with a nice salad. My kids shared the pancakes which they liked and my husband had bacon and eggs. All were tasty and hot. The price wasn't too expensive.
