Too bad they are only open until 4pm. I felt that we hit the jackpot with dinner the night before at Mano a Mano then this diner which is far from a dive. Waiters pay attention to the tables. Food is served hot when it should be, cold when it should be. Very large sandwiches(corned beef yum) excellent and not greasy latkes, lox and eggs well made as was matzo brei.

Very tasty Jewish type deli/restaurant. Pork sausages with breakfast were amazing. Brunch overall was excellent, generously portioned and very tasty. Rueben sliders were excellent. Only downside was rather slow, forgetful service.

Great food, extensive menu, reasonable prices, located near Michigan Avenue and museums. We shall return.

Wish we lived closer! Love, Love, Love this place!!!! Brought my parents this time and the nice guy working offered us a chair for my dad so sit down inside. It was too cold outside for him. Hospitality at its best.. when our table was ready they sat us close to the front which was very nice so my dad did not have to walk far. Now the yummy begins.. I think all there food must be delicious because everything around us looked so good. However, our French toast, Avocado Bagel and Corned Beef were so good!! I felt like I could keep eating forever. :) Can't wait to come back again. Manager & Servers are top notch!! We will be back again and again..

Wife and I found our way back to Eleven City Diner - it was early afternoon and she wanted breakfast - I know a place - found our way to Eleven and got seated - while waiting for food we met the Owner Brad while he was waiting for his uber and soon we were chatting about the business, why we were in Chicago celebrating our 21 Wedding Anniv... which added to the enjoyable lunch - He treated us to a slice of cheesecake - Thank you very much!! This was not our first time - and wont be our last - service is excellent!! and the food is better!! If you are in the downtown area its worth the visit!

Great place. Really lot of options for breakfast. Portions are huge. Service is very pleasant. Very popular so get early if you don't like to wait.

I had a Turkey pastrami with roasted vegetables and it was out of this world! My husband and I shared the onion mountain and it was definitely more than we could finish. One of my favorite comfort food restaurants!

Not sure what’s going on with 11 City Dinner seems understaffed with horrible customer service. Spent almost 4 hours.

This is a great old school no-nonsense deli/diner in Chicago. When we arrived for Sunday lunch the place was bustling but we only had to wait five minutes for a table. Fast, friendly, and efficient service. Large portions of great food. Clean. Both the pastrami and corned beef were tasty, tender, and melt in the mouth. The matzoh soup was a warm up on a cold day and had the biggest matzoh ball I have ever seen. We will definitely return on our next trip to Chicago. So many tasty dishes on the menu.

Superb. Great start to the day with friendly staff. Fantastic selection on the menu and good value. All whilst listening to some great tunes!!

Service, first was exceptional from our fun and friendly waitress, Jennifer G and thus pulled a 2* to a 3*! A very positive experience from her and other staff. I ordered the Zenith ($16.99), as did my son, and he added the side of fries with pastrami and cheese sauce ($21.99 w/addition). We BOTH felt the middle layer of bread shouldn’t be there, as it was just too much bread and after eating a few bites, we both started ripping out that middle layer of bread. The meats of the corned beef and the pastrami were very tender and moist, as well not overly salty that is often the case, but I’ll say lacked much of any corn beef or pastrami flavors, nor did the swiss cheese or dressing help it standout, so I hit with a good shot more of brown mustard to get some flavor beyond the bread, even after middle piece removal. (Hot pastrami on Jewish rye w/mustard and swiss cheese has always been a fave of mine since the first one my Dallas native dad made for me as a small kid, and especially for my 45 years of living in the NYC area!, just recently the Chicago area) My son’s sandwich was packed full where 1/2 of mine was just a large portion of 3 layers of bread!, which my son, also, noted later to me of mine as well. Now, perhaps they wt. measure the meat and all mine ended up on the 1st half? BUT, if making a sandwich, it is the makers job to evenly distribute for proper ratios across the consumption of the entire sandwich, not the consumer’s after served to remake a sandwich at the table, slopping through the sauced meats, bread and cheese, etc with my fingers to redistribute, or I’d just go to the grocery store to make my own! But, I didn’t even really see the lacking second half to redistribute things until I went to remove that “too much bread”, would just get soggy for taking home, middle layer, on the uneaten 2nd half. My accompanying pickle, a bit mushy for my preference (mushy middle, edge a little crisp), husband and son liked theirs-as agreed lot’s of this is all personal preferences. I, also, found for myself being more vinegar, black pepper leaning, the coleslaw too sweet, my husband liked his as prepared. My sons favorite was his fries topped with cheese sauce and pastrami as he said he liked the texture of the soft cheese (cheez whiz looking), crispy fries along with the slight saltiness of the pastrami. My husband had the corned beef with the potato pancake on it called the “Kreplach” ($16.99), and was pleased with his but only ate 1/2 there. He, also had a serving of the giant stuffed matzo type soup called “Bubbies Chicken Soup”. We ALL had the bottomless house made root beer on draft for $6.99 each- only option I saw for the root beer. I, a non-alcohol person, for fun, like to sample root beer from all over while other fam does the beer tasting thing, so I am a bit more of a root beer critique than many. This was one of the WORST root beers I’ve ever had, and at $6.99, even for bottomless- which I only drank the first mug, it was that bad, and only felt obligated to finish that one because of price- a VERY BAD OPTION! My son did not care for it either, and had actually said to my husband on the QT from me before I tasted it, that I wouldn’t like it! My husband was indifferent, but for price and hype of, one should be put way beyond indifferent of this root beer! They should be blown away, not just could take it or leave it, and that was the best rating from 1 of 3! Overall, after tax and tip $111 was WAY TOO MUCH for nothing special at all, besides the great service, and actually some of the meal was subpar, especially the root beer, and I am one who would of really backed the price paid even for just 3 sandwiches, 2 with extra priced side, and 3 house made root beers, if it was deserved! (My son today had a good insight of how we should of done this to try Eleven City Diner, so an idea for those wanting to sample, which was get and share their sliders for a taste, and then hit up Devil Dawg’s on State, our other option that we didn’t make it to.) I think Eleven gets great ratings mostly because of it’s location in the midst of a large college, and thus a great, large portions, breakfast serving place that caters to that college liking food type crowd.

In the 1950s, we called them "greasy spoons." My father, a World War II veteran, would take my brother and I to movies on Wednesday afternoons. Then we'd go to a "greasy spoon" for hamburgers. Usually, it was a counter joint and the owner, also a World War II veteran, worked the grill. While we ate hamburgers and fries, my father and the cook/owner/veteran swapped war stories. Eleven City Diner isn't a "greasy spoon" by 1950s standards. But it is everything to anybody who loves comfort food, a Jewish deli with classic American fare in a casual diner setting with a soda fountain. Located at 1112 South Wabash Avenue, in the South Loop, north of Roosevelt Road, near the Grant Park, Soldier Field and the Museum Campus, it is o[pen from 9 to 2:30 Monday through Friday, also 5 to 8:30 on Friday and 8:30 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast is served all day. Love the Cheddar Cheese Omelet with three eggs, house potatoes and toast with sausage inside the omelet and chicken sausage inside the eggs. For lunch, try the chicken soup or tomato basil soup with a Patty Melt, an Angus steak burger with grilled onions, American cheese and 1,000 Island dressing on dark rye. Or a Moshe Cristo with ham, melted Swiss cheese and roasted turkey on a Challah French Toast. Or Rubin's Reuben, open-faced corned beef with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1,000 Island dressing with fries. Or Salami Valor, grilled thick pieces of salami, pastrami, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and honey dijon on grilled Challah.

Never disappoints! We always visit Eleven City Diner when in Chicago! Whether it’s breakfast (which is served all day) or lunch or dinner you’ll be more than satisfied. We got to the restaurant at 1:30 and had a 20 minute wait. We decided to all get the hot pastrami on seeded rye. I had trouble finishing my sandwich and Cole slaw and pickle! Worth every bite!

I can understand why this spot is so popular. First impressions were made fabulous by the very warm welcome from staff to the impressive decor. We really wanted to experience a proper American Diner, and we got to here! Our server was so friendly and helpful. Offered a paper menu for my Mam, which she really appreciated. As for the food, the portions are MASSIVE so come hungry or share as we did. We took the recommendations of our server and were so glad we did. Delicious 😋 Go enjoy the food, the ambiance and the service.

Food is so good that we ate there twice in four days. My group ordered quite a variety of dishes, and we were all pleased. If you think the photos are good good to be true, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Eleven City Diner closes at 4pm. Its more of a breakfast-brunch type dinner. You can order breakfast anytime of day. The waitress "Claudia" remembered us from a year ago (which was amazing). There is bottomless homemade "rootbeer" that is made there on site. I had the traditional cornbeef sandwich on Challah (pronounced "holla") bread... not sure of the spelling. The bread was very soft, non filling! Our waitress reccomended some Pastrami Cheese fries... very tasty! You may have to wait for a table to become open, but they will bring you a drink while waiting. We sat outside while waiting for a table to open. They had seating along the front of the Diner which made it pleasant. If you go ask for Claudia... she knows her menu... and can make great reccomendations if you stuck on what to order.

A fantastic family diner. 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️all the way from us. We had the Corned Beef pastrami bowl- omg amazing. I also had the Bloody Mary again so so good. Fabulous atmosphere, service, food and lovely and clean everywhere. Highly recommend if in Chicago, you will struggle to find anywhere better for breakfast. A massive thumbs up 👍🏻 from us.

I love Eleven City Diner and have been coming here for years! The atmosphere, the food, and the staff are top notch. Service has always been quick and consistent. Recently came into town for a friend’s birthday and had yet another wonderful experience at Eleven! Our server was very attentive and did a great job describing some of the dishes I was looking to try. The food is always on point, and definitely will be back again soon. All in all, 5 stars from me!

We had a high expectation, but food is just average. Several potatoes and eggs very "plain". The relevant attractiveness of this place is the history and the 60s environment.

An excellent American Diner! Everything is blues atmosphere, neon, warm welcome and typical American cuisine with all the codes of this cuisine. Thank you.

This was a must-visit in the past every time I came to see my parents. But now I have 2 kids in tow, and it’s not family friendly. The waitress would’ve tried but the manager stopped her from accommodating my request for 2 spoons to entertain my 8m old. - said it’d be too loud, despite act that the music was so loud you couldn’t talk across the table. Then they seated a party of 18 next to us. Noise was clearly not the problem. They also put us upstairs, and then got upset when my 3 year old looked over the railing (she was very secure and being supervised by me), but one of the hosts touched her to pull her back. Btw, never touch someone else’s kid! Waitress was great, management sucked. Food was just ok compared to the past. I’ll never be back.

I think this was the best sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. We got both the corned beef and the beef/salami. Amazing. Wouldn't recommend thr latkes but would dine here 10 times over for the sandwiches. Can't say enough.

Breakfast was excellent. So many choices it was hard to decide. Only detractor was that we agreed to be seated in the “bar” area downstairs and it was extremely noisy and the staff frequently bumps into the chairs. Otherwise would definitely eat here but be selective about the seating!

I checked out this place online on youtube and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is great, the food is next level as well. The servers were very attentive. I ordered a coffee, root beer and chicago style Philly. Coffee was great, root beer was nice and refreshing, and the sandwich was good too. I lucked out by being a solo traveller and did not have to wait. This restaurant was very busy Saturday a.m , but it was totally worth it.

Ok food (really nothing special) but horrible service. The restaurant shows zero flexibility on no joining policy even when restaurant was empty. We ended up sending one friend back because she was not allowed to join 5 min later. Personnel is extremely grumpy as if every question is too much. Would not recommend it to anyone.

My teenaged grandkids love the Eleven City Diner and will walk a mile from the train to get there. The menu has something for everyone. They like the cheese fries and shakes. I love the reuben or a pastrami sandwich, or the spicy tomato soup or matzo ball soup. The chocolate cake is yummy if you have room for dessert. The decor is entertaining if you have to wait.

Been going to Eleven diner for years. Love the food. Never had a bad meal and I always recommend it to friends and family when they visit.

The food was fabulous. There were a lot of great choices. Location was very convenient to our hotel. Would definitely go back when in town.

Great diner food, good vibe, the place smells and looks as good as the food tastes. Gluten free bread was very good. Server was great, and accommodated our need to get to a flight at Midway. Really good place.

Pros: An excellent decoration, excellent service and food! Fast Service Cons: Pricey! Maybe the location because is a little far from the major attractions of the city.

We arrived with our party to the restaurant and was told there was a 30 minute wait. Period at the end of the 30 minute wait our name was called and we went to the front of the line and which point the host told us that we can’t go into the restaurant yet and needed to be seated and could not see ourselves and needed to stand in a specific area of the lobby. None of this was marked. And the host had quite an attitude. The adage “the customer is always right“ seems apropos here. The host then approached us after we were frustrated and asked if we had a problem. We were then asked to leave the restaurant. I have dined at many restaurants around the country for the last 50 years plus and I’ve never been asked to leave a restaurant ever. I would not recommend this place to my dog unless you want to be treated like a dog.Avoid this place at all costs.

I had the Schwartzy Smoked Beef Brisket and I will never have a sandwich that will compare. It melted in my mouth, and the milkshake was delish.

Good service ! I tried the pastrami , kale salad with milkshakes! The fact tat they have the junior cheesecakes was a great surprise

Very busy but worth the wait! Excellent lunch and great service. We were visiting but clearly locals love this place too.

Top notch sandwich’s and breakfast. Plus excellent Bloody Mary’s. Parking is a bitch though; maybe cops that eat here should arrest the meter maids.

I don’t know why anyone comes here when there are so many other great spots in the neighborhood. The service is so rude from the moment you walk in the door and the food is totally mediocre. I just witnessed the host call out to a gentleman who couldn’t hear her over the loud music. Instead of recognizing that it was the loud music that was the problem, she started yelling at him in Spanish (well, not really - just “senor”), assuming he doesn’t speak English. Turns out, he speaks English.

We arrived in Chicago and found this place. The place was amazing with lots of nostalgia everywhere. It's like traveling back in time. Their menu was massive and their servings were just as big. This place delights both the palate and the eyes. The service was fantastic and the prices were really reasonable. One order will actually feed two so its good to order one of each then you can share and have a two for one tasting. Food is great and quality is very good and service is quick (just like a typical deli) Chicago has many great restaurants. I would pick this always for a great casual breakfast, lunch or dinner. Love it!

I wouldn't recommend. Very expensive. Amount of food is not like pictures. Quality is good. Small quantity. Fries were not cooked fresh. No Joint Seating...No seating to your party is all there which I understand. (IF CROWDED) Joint seating if you're ordering for them without them than that should be considered, considering parking is brutal.

Arrived around 1pm (Wednesday during Spring Break) and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Atmosphere is great. We had to wait a bit for service once seated, but they were busy, so it was understandable. It went downhill from there. The type of food they sell should not take long to prepare/serve, but we waited over 30 minutes for a bowl of matzo ball soup (which was served with a TEASPOON). And another 15 minutes for the rest of our food. The server did notice we were waiting a long time and checked on our ticket - food came out five minutes after this. Aside from a quick apology, zero accommodations were made for their mess up. I have worked in resturants for many years and do expect restaurants to offer something in these instances. We also just wanted to eat and get out of there to enjoy the rest of our day in Chicago, so I didn't push it with management or anything, but did find it disappointing for how much you're spending there. The food was also just so-so. As mentioned above, the mazto ball soup was served with a metal teaspoon. Another soup at our table was served with a plastic soup spoon. Please invest in metal soup spoons when soup is a highlighted item on your menu.

Friendly and really relaxing place, sound is good, nice music, friendly team, food good classic diner, simple food and presentation. Service efficient and fast, a place to go with friends and family. Little Ruben great choice for a small bite.

I had breakfast here a couple of times on my visit to Chicago. Good food, generous serving but the atmosphere is what I liked the most. Sort of a cross between warehouse, gangster, antique, 20's style. One of my fond memories of Chicago.

We ate lunch at Eleven City Diner between museum visits. It is within walking distance to Shedd and Field Museum. The price of the lunch was steep ($15-25) but quality and quantity were excellent. We could have shared a couple meals. Malt was really good. Service was also very good.

All I can say is WOW!! Staff was super welcoming & friendly and food was AMAZING!! Everyone in our party loved their food; Pastrami sand, Mini Rueben, Matza ball soup & cheese fries.. YUMMMM!!! Will definitely go again and can’t wait till our next visit!! ❤️

This diner is easy to find. It is close to the Red Line. The food and service were terrific. My burger was delicious. The atmosphere is interesting. I will go back.

A must for any lover of restaurants in classic dinner style. For breakfast a delicious bagel with avocado and salmon. A perfect start to the day with a bottemless coffee.

Ate here for the first time last year and vowed to return. Just went back a week ago and the food was very good. The place seems to stay busy but you get seated quickly. The only disappointment this last visit was that they were out of ice cream so we couldn’t order a shake like we normally would!

Family and i really enjoyed our lunch. Great service, fun environment and very good food. Worth the wait.

Our daughter goes to school in Chicago and this place has become a family favorite and a "must-eat" each time we go to Chicago. Sometimes simple is best too - my favorite thing is their tomato soup and grilled cheese! Highly recommend - great for vegetarian eaters too (which my daughter is although the rest of us love their meat dishes!)

Delicious! I had three eggs cooked just the way I like them. The corned beef and pastrami hash was mouth watering. They make their corned beef in house! The hash had a crispy outside that was perfect. My husband had the french toast with pecans and sliced bananas Everything was so good . I really with I was there now, I'd order the same thing!

I’ve eaten here several times and it’s not nearly enough. It’s the definition of the Chicago Deli. While Jewish Deli’s across the country are shuttered, Eleven Rises, even opening new locations. How? Why? What makes Eleven better? Well they’ve perfected Breakfast all day, they’re redefined lunch like a local and dinner - well they don’t need to do dinner cause they close at 4pm. Come back tomorrow!

I had the worst experience while picking up an order for Door Dash from there. I asked to use the restroom and got the ok from a young lady but as I continued to walk towards the back, i was stopped by the white guy that sounds gay telling me that i could not. I told him I was Dashing and he asked to see the order while crowding me, ro prevent me from going. I showed him the order and he was still crowding me so much that when I continued to walk to the restroom, i stepped on his toes and moved my arms up and around him to not touch him. He said I pushed him and ran to get in front of me to put me out. I told him he was lying and he responded with,"I was trying ro see if the bathroom was clean enough for someone like you." The manager told me to leave without hearing me out or looking into it. He didn't look at the tape or listen to me. So i had ro repeatedly yell for them to give me my hot bag to go. I am a black woman and identify as lesbian. So clearly were not welcomed

Very busy! Clean, excellent service. Huge menu for breakfast (all day), lunch or dinner. Loved the hot pastrami and cole slaw. Got here Saturday at noon and waited 25 minutes. Well worth the wait. Bottomless root beer. Forgot to take a picture of the Challah French toast which took up the entire plate.

I have had great meals, but none have prompted me to write a review. This place exceeded my expectations. The service was top-notch & my Reuben sandwich was excellent. To finish it off, Bradley, the owner, gave us a tour, including the history of the building & its cool vintage vibe. Next time we'll try brunch, the French toast looked amazing!

Delicious and varied food, coupled with an authentic atmosphere and good service made for an enjoyable meal and experience. Our server had worked here happily for 12 years - a sign of a good establishment. I enjoyed the home-made root beer and turkey burger with fries and slaw and had little room for dessert. One doesn't go to diners for 5-star fine dining though you can be assured of an excellent meal here.

Stopped here for lunch on our first day in Chicago. We waited for about 30 minutes which was less than the 45 minutes they promised, always a good start. The restaurant is decorated like an old time diner which is cool. The portion sizes were large. We ordered a lot of since we had not eaten in a while and it was way too much. The Latke plate was great and of course the Three Egg Breakfast was spot on. I also ordered a side of the Corned Beed Hash which was too salty for my taste. Service was great as as our server was attentive and always around if needed. We would come back again.

Everything you want. Beautiful decor, exceptional service and big portions of wonderful good. We had the corn beef and hash and the avocado bagel. Yummmm. Great place in Chicago 👍

Stumbled upon Eleven City on a vacation with the family ! Feeding teenage boys is always a chore.... I was thrilled at the large portions and the ALL the food tasted amazing. The staff was so fun and friendly. We ended up going back again before we left town.

Big, diverse menu. Great breakfast choices. Dishes are huge, too big to finish, and I’m a big eater. And the atmosphere is really cool.

But their getting one from me! I was sat at the bar, surround by other solo brunch-eras. Every...single... one of us said, “uh-oh”, “Oh boy”, and “I am in the good kind of dilemma”. Portions are massive, and massive in quality goodness. No skimping here. I had Ritos plate, and had food sweats after barely making it have way. You’re gonna have a good meal. The vibe is of old school charm that’s sure to win you and your entire part over. They have a whole menu of liquored malts and shakes (among other amazing deserts). Seating for a party bigger than six may be challenging, but you can call ahead. Oh and they do catering!

I will dream about the lox and latkes (with cream cheese on server suggestion) for years to come. My husband loved his bananas pecans challah French toast. We were only sad we didn't have time to go back for a second meal. There is a handicap accessible door next to the revolving door that we were welcomed through when the hostess opened it for us. There are tables that are designated handicap accessible and the staff is experienced with seating customers in wheelchairs.

Not only was the food amazing, but the staff was great as well. Hands down a great experience and we will definitely be back!

We stopped in here after our visit to Adler planetarium on 10/08/2019 for lunch! Felipe was our waiter and he was happy, friendly and attentive! We weren't starving, so didn't want to order a heavy meal. I decided on the Belgium waffle and hubby had a bagel. Both were really great!! The environment and decor will take you back in time, and it's just a really nice place to stop and take a break from doing all the touristy stuff. I would definitely recommend this place to friends, and will definitely return the next time we visit Chicago. Cheers!

The place oozes charm and appears to be a Jewish type of deli/diner. Whatever it claims to be let me proclaim that it is fantastic. The server was very friendly and accommodating and the food was top notch. Next time I am in Chicago I will be sitting down here for breakfast!

Fantastic old-school atmosphere diner. Very, very amicable service and top-notch food. I haven't got the chance to try their famous breakfast though, the line was too long in the morning...

When reading the reviews, I was very excited about visiting the restaurant. Upon arrival, I was very disappointed. Because I was dining alone, I was seated near the kitchen. An employee swept the floor while I ate and I had to ask him to stop sweeping in the direction of my food. I ordered a chicken caesar salad.....the chicken was not thoroughly cooked and had to be sent back. They charge $3.95ish for a soda and will charge an additional .50cents for a carryout/to go cup. There was so much traffic with the waitstaff that I couldn't enjoy my food. I will not return.

Horrible Experience After waiting for 30 minutes the greeter czar threw us out because he didn’t like our attitude. A total jerk. Go here only if you want to be treated like crap.

Excellent service. Good sandwiches Challah bread very rich The place super original and cheerful. I think whatever you ask for is good. Congratulations great option in Chicago

Absolutely an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in to get seating to the end. It was amazing experience. This diner is a true experience. One I’ll remember! It’s pricey but worth it. We had lunch with Matzo ball soup, Corn Beef Sandwich and several sides AMAZING!!! I got their famous Root beer and the best I’ve ever had!! We loved it so much we went back the next day before our flight out of Chicago for their famous breakfast. Again AMAZING food and experience! This establishment needs to go nationwide!!

Large portions and all made fresh to order, the service was quick and efficient, the menu is like a book, can't wait to go back and try it again.

Nice friendly place with lots of good food. The Reuben is a must here, it's a true heart stopper! The meat is roasted in house and the soups are really good too, just a great place to drop by no matter the time of day!

After spending the afternoon in the city we decided to go here for dinner and we are glad we did. The food was great and atmosphere was fun. There were so many options to pick from we were already talking about coming back to try other things. If you’re looking for a good spot to eat this is definitely a place to go.

Another quick stop in the south loop to our favorite restaurant!!! Brought the family in for brunch. This place is always busy but yet the hospitality is second to none. The staff working in the waiting area are so nice and the servers are awesome!!! Felipe usually takes care of my wife and I but with the family we did not sit at the bar. Jessica was our server and she was so NICE and smiled the entire time. Never had to ask for anything... she was perfect!! As always.. Thank you for another amazing experience. We will be back soon!!!

Authentic pastrami and rye. Stopped into the diner for a late lunch. Ordered 1/2 sandwich and soup. So glad i went with the 1/2 sandwich because it was huge. Also had the matzo ball soup which was delicious. Loved the sandwich and loved their root beer. What a great lunch

Found a great deli location in Chicago. The corn beef and pastrami were extremely tender and flavorful. Just what we were looking for in a deli. Pleasantly surprised by the mac and cheese which you don’t normally see on deli menu. Creamy goodness with nice crunchy and crispy topping of melted cheese mixed with small amount of bread crumbs. Sandwiches were generous with house made meat Gotta to go again next time I am in Chicago to try the soups and shakes

This was our first dining experience in Chicago and it raised the bar high for others! It was worth the wait we only waited about 30 minutes and staff were so pleasant, we did not mind. I had the Reuben which was just bursting with pastrami. I loved it! Fries were great too as was the burger my friend had! Although I was full to the hills, I had to taste the hot fudge sundae, which was sublime!

Ventured from the near suburbs into downtown to sample the cuisine from Eleven City Diner. Went with the 1/2 sandwich soup entree. One of the best Matzoball soups I’ve ever had, including those I remember my Jewish mother preparing. Schwartzy smoked brisket sandwich was incredibly tender and flavorful and the challah roll was fresh baked and soft. My wife tried the Eleven City French toast. Best FT she has ever had, made from challah bread with shredded coconut, strawberries and bananas. Definitely worth the trip in and wait of about 25 minutes.

Eleven City Dinner is amazing! Our Chicago host knew that a reservation was needed, so after all of our party of seven arrived, we were seated immediately! It is always a treat to eat breakfast at a restaurant, but all menu options were so enticing that it was hard to choose. Our selections included: several Bad A#@! Breakfast Sandwich's, 11 City Belgian Waffle with Bacon, a child's Pancake meal, and 3-Tom Waits 2am Breakfast 1987. All portions were large, but the Tom Waits breakfasts were humongous! We were all stuffed, and no one could finish their delicious meals. The only disappointment was that the hot beverages were not hot! They were barely lukewarm. The server was probably busy, and they sat waiting for a long time. Great breakfast, and we will return! We hope to try the lunch offerings in the future, too!

Our family of 5 each had something different for brunch and it was amazing. A few best ever for the family. Very good. Would go back.

This was a cute place to stop on a rainy day. The staff was polite and attentive. If you have a choice eat upstairs it is much quieter and more relaxed. My wife had the cobb salad and I had the Schwartzy Smoked Beef Brisket. Both were really good. This place is not trying to be more than it advertises to be. For the bad - way overpriced candy! Skip it.

Great meal! Service was friendly and just right. The shakes are simply huge!!! We had a breakfast hash and breakfast sandwich, both were brilliant. The potatoes were amazing!! We looked on trip advisor for a good breakfast and so glad we found this place. Would definitely recommend going.

Loved this place! Great milk shakes. They make their own root beer, which was delicious. So much food. Ordered the half sandwich and soup lunch special. The matzo ball soup was really good and huge. The roast beef was great too.

We've visited Chicago for twelve years and somehow just discovered Eleven City Diner this year (2024). We had hopefully high expectations and we our visit exceeded those! The atmosphere was both modern and nostalgic. Very clean, bright, and fun inside. We were there at 3pm on a Wednesday and seated immediately. Sounds like it's far busier earlier! Every single employee was friendly and engaging. It gives the feeling that they are are very invested in their success. The food is everything you could expect. The pastrami was the best I've had, including perhaps the most famous deli in New York. The matzo ball soup was also the best! After one visit we know that we could eat here every day and never leave disappointed (or hungry!). We travel to eat, and we love Chicago for the food. Eleven City Diner is our new found favorite and will be a stop at least once every trip.

This spot was a hit with the whole family! Lively atmosphere, super-friendly staff, and a diverse menu with generous portions at fair prices. Just look at the photo below—my son devoured nearly three-quarters of his pancake stack topped with ice cream!

Eleven City Diner. The place looked and felt like it was from an old film. They make their own root beer, which was amazing and is highly recommended. My mother in law got mac and cheese with bacon. I got a roast beef sandwich and Ellen and her brother split a brisket sandwich. The portions are large and can easily be split between 2 people. This place is expensive, but based on its location and the quality of the food it’s worth it.

A place worth knowing in Chicago! I recommend making a reservation because we waited 45 minutes to have a table.

What an amazing place! The food is fantastic! The space is old school diner/deli. The staff is great. Portions are HUGE! If you can, go here, breakfast, lunch, hopefully soon dinner you will not be disappointed. They The Bad Ass Sandwich or the Eleven French toast for breakfast, the Valor Salami sandwich is fantastic, a half inch thick slice of salami...1/2"!!!

Great food and atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. My incredibly picky 6 year old actually ate all her food. She said they had the best eggs and bacon she’s ever had.

It's hard to pass up breakfast at Eleven City Diner, a popular deli/diner that specializes in all-day breakfast. But it also puts out a great lunch spread that can't be ignored. Located at 1112 South Wabash Avenue, in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, a block north of Roosevelt Road, near Grant Park and the Museum Campus, it attracts a wide variety of customers, from locals to tourists. Open from 8:30 to 3 Monday through Friday and 8:30 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday, it captivates the morning crowd with the 2 a.m. breakfast, two scrambled eggs, two pancakes, two strips of bacon, two sausages, house potatoes and toast, French toast with baked challah, strawberries, bananas and toasted coconut, Belgian waffles with berries and the old-fashioned, traditional favorite, three scrambled eggs with a side of smoked bacon, sausage or ham with house potatoes and toast. However, my wife and I prefer the lunch fare. Start with a bowl of tomato basil soup. Then choose a sandwich--corned beef with a slice of Swiss cheese and a side of coleslaw; Rubin's Reuben, open-faced corned beef and pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1,000 Island dressing with fries; Chicago-style French Dip with roast beef, mozzarella, grilled onions, mushrooms and fries; or a Patty Melt, an Angus steak burger with grilled onions, American cheese and 1,000 Island dressing on dark rye bread. Wash it down with pink lemonade in a chilled mug, a chocolate shake or a root beer float in a 22-ounce big mug.

My wife and I chose Eleven City Diner and it was worth the wait(20 minutes) Bloody Mary, definitely get the meat stick and pickle. My wife had the mini reubens. They were awesome. She had never had a reuben before. I chose the Mile High, roast beef and turkey sandwich. Everything looked great. Service was great. The diner is very clean and family friendly.

So, we live in Chicago, just a quick train ride away and yet it took friends from the burbs to get us down to Eleven City Diner for brunch. We went on a Friday morning and got seated right away in what we considered the best booth in the house with a view of all the action. The food was great! Between us we had waffles, latkes, eggs, corned beef hash, a reuben and more. We got into a discussion about the difference between corned beef and pastrami which the owner happened to overhear. He came over to tell us the difference but after a minute he asked us to hold on because it would be easier to explain if he brought out samples. Five minutes later, we had a heaping plate of freshly sliced pastrami, corned beef and brisket too. All delicious but we definitely all loved the pastrami best. Fun experience. Very authentic Jewish diner complete with a candy counter. Tempting! We will definitely be back.

Avocado bagel breakfast was really tasty but not worth the price IMO. I think you’d get better value ordering other options. We enjoyed the background music and overall vibe. Our server was friendly and attentive. Seems like a popular place for lunch so get there early or make a reservation. Take a moment to look in the mirror above the counter to read words in the shape of a US map ;)

Great place! Fun atmosphere! My husband and I stopped in for lunch after traveling into town. He got a margarita, I got a root beer float, and we shared the lunch special of bowl beef vegetable soup, 1/2 brisket sandwich & fries... perfect amount. Will go back!

We stayed in Chicago for four nights late September 2019 prior to starting R66. This diner was opposite our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, so very convenient. It is a traditional diner, and we were told the building used to be where Al Capone stored his illicit moonshine. Service was good, despite always being very busy. Food was great. We ate there for breakfast several times and dinner. Would recommend.

This is a restaurant you want to tell your friends and family about.. There were 10 of us, including three granddaughters under the age of 11. The experience begins as soon as you open the door and see all the amazing memorabilia on display. We didn’t wait long And we’re ushered up to the second floor overlooking the main dining hall. Our server Erika was hard-working and attentive. The varied flavors and tastes are just out of this world. Be sure to order one of their bloody Mary’s. They were delicious and chock full of veggies.

We wanted a traditional American place for a good breakfast and weren’t disappointed. The food was fantastic and the staff very friendly and welcoming, and super helpful with my partner, who uses a wheelchair. We had no access issues, and he was able to get around easily,

It was an excellent place for brunch! The staff was helpful and took their time, even though the place was quite full. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. It was also one of the cleanest places we saw in our few days in Chicago. It's well worth the visit, especially if you like the traditional diner atmosphere.

Tried four times to buy gift card online as I live in San Diego… Finally called the restaurant and was told well we’re not having any problems so you’ll just have to come in to buy one. After calling my bank to ensure that there was not a problem with the card, I went on another restaurant website and bought one with no issues. There was no apology no offer to buy certificate online, no offer to investigate… Nothing… while Michelin stars do indicate the presence of a wonderful chef, there’s more to customer service than just that.

Fun diner with great decor, great food, and excellent service. Quite busy on weekends! I visited this diner on my first day in Chicago because it was near my hotel. Little did I know, it had a michellin star. I ordered the bad a#@! breakfast sandwich, and the eggs were the divine - best eggs I've ever tasted. The portions were also quite large, and I enjoyed the service. I went back my last day and just got regular eggs with bacon and potatoes. I'd say the scrambled eggs were better. The only thing I didn't care for was the coffee, it's free refills, but $5 for coffee I only got through a third off. It was drinkable, but not particularly good. The soda ($4) is also free refills. Overall, I highly recommend it. Just skip the coffee if you’re particular about your coffee.

A little bit pricey, but a nice place, good food with the right atmosphere. Ask for the Deli stuff, can't go wrong with that.

We went around 10 on Saturday and had to wait about 40 minutes. Actually, having to wait felt like a good sign and that we were at a good spot. We ordered drinks to have while we waited. We both ordered breakfast rather than lunch, with one big a$$ breakfast sandwich and one Tom Waits Breakfast 1987. The sausage was good, and the bacon was really good flavored as well. The meal came with pancakes and they were almost 2 inches high apiece. Not only were they fluffy, they tasted fantastic even without syrup. We ate more than we should and didn't eat again until dinner!

The first thing that surprised me and pleased me was the impressive welcome they gave us. The person who attends the entrance is a crack. He made us feel like we were his best customers of the day. The place has a lot of charm and is a wonderful place to have breakfast. I liked it all. 11/11

We have passed this place so many times when we visit Chicago but it is only open for part of the day and we're usually out and about and don't usually have breakfast. We woke up super hungry and decided to try the restaurant as it's just around the corner from our hotel. We split the lox platter (with an extra bagel). Our waitress was delightful and service excellent. Food was good although it would be hard to mess up what we had. I'm going to ding the restaurant for it's prices: 3.50 for an extra bagel seemed a little high and ditto the price of coffee. I wish it were open later , until maybe 6 or 7 because we would love to try their deli offerings.

Our family checked out Eleven based on TA reviews and it was delicious! Loved the eclectic atmosphere and history of the place.

Cheerful place with fun decor, friendly, attentive service & massive portions. I ate at the counter, and they kindly stashed my rolling bag behind the candy counter up front. My enormous omelets were delicious, and they have GF toast! The root beer is excellent as well. I ate here twice in 48 hours, and they recognized me when I came back. :-)

Such a fun experience! Kids loved the burgers, my husband had a sandwich with salami sliced about 1/2” thick and said it was one of the best sandwiches he’s ever had, and I had a turkey melt with real sliced turkey chunks. The music was fun, the service was good, and we would love to come back. Only thing keeping it at 4 stars was that it was quite expensive for 4 people. Still a fun treat!

But it’s impossible to complain about the food! The sandwiches were delicious ( one pastrami, one corn beef) , followed with an orange faygo float! YUM

This classic diner offers outstanding food in a lively atmosphere. I enjoyed challah french toast topped with fruit and toasted coconut, plus a side of perfectly crisped and seasoned breakfast potatoes. Their staff made me feel special and like I was part of the family. I recommend standing in line for when they open at 8:30, because this place is justifiably popular. My only regret is that I won't be able to return today for a second meal. My favorite meal in Chicago to date!

Our family of 4 visited on 12/28 around 1pm. The restaurant was very busy with a wait of about 45 minutes. Great diner atmosphere with a deli up front and old school candy for purchase. The food was delicious and the portions did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the root beer float or chocolate shake!

First let me say the the staff were exceptional. I had lunch and breakfast the next day here and the only nit picky thing I can say is that the scrambled eggs were evidently done in a blender. That whips air into them leaving limitless flavor but the rest of the breakfast was delicious. Now to the lunch. I ordered a pastrami sandwich - which looked like a regular old pastrami sandwich but oh the flavor! I intend to try to get back to this place one more time before I leave Chicago. Oh - did I mention that the root beer is to die for? Don’t miss this place.

We had an early dinner w/a six year old. It was a fun menu w/lots of variety. Very reasonable. Our grandson had “breakfast for dinner” with a Mickey pancake. It was great!

This was our second time going here. We went there for the corn beef and went back for a second round. We also liked the homemade root beer. It was a little pricey but well worth it.

Delicious meal and great service. We had the Reuben sandwich & fries and the chicken matzoh ball soup. We shared the Reuben/fries and soup. It was enough for both of us for lunch. They were both delicious and flavorful.

Food was amazing! The staff and everyone there were so friendly and accommodating. Great place! Will def be back again!

We enjoyed lunch here with homemade chicken soup & deli sandwiches. The chocolate shake and root beer float were nostalgic.Highly recommend eating here, the parking is difficult. There is a lot next door, but spaces are small & you have to manuever tight spaces, so keep that in mind.

I was in the area shopping at Trader Joe's (across the street). When I had finished at TJ's I had some time to kill before my next thing...thought, let's get a bit to eat. Left my car in TJ's lot (ask Manager if I could leave my car in the lot while I ran and grabbed a sandwich at Eleven - they were more than gracious). First time at Eleven. The Menu - wow. They have it all. I wanted to plow into the menu and dig deep into deli, but I didn't want to overstay my welcome in TJ's parking lot. I ordered the Reuben - something by which I judge all Deli as it is, in my opinion, a cornerstone. It did not disappoint! Served open faced which was a change. Taste was spot on! The only Reuben more prefect is the one my mother used to make...never can top one's Mom! Eleven is now on my list of places to visit when in Chicago!

Went here around 5:30 before an opera and it was busy but we got seated at the bar. Wait staff was prompt and friendly. Served quickly because we had lox & bagel platter and corn beef which we both enjoyed. So many beers and other drinks to choose from. Lots going on, but not really all that noisy.

I love Eleven City Diner but poor service has now severely soured my feelings. I have been dining at and from Eleven City since it opened. I am a born New Yorker, from Brooklyn, and I know a good deli and restaurant. I lived blocks from the original Junior’s Restaurant! Today was a game changer. Kevin, the manager, and the hostess where unyielding in making a breakfast sandwich with fried eggs. They insisted that only scrambled eggs could be ordered for this sandwich. Just 1 week ago and for the last few weeks I ordered and enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with fried eggs! The menu doesn’t say that the signature breakfast sandwich is only made with scrambled eggs. Then to add insult to injury the hostess offered to make the sandwich with fried eggs pricing each item on the sandwich individually/a la carte. This unjustifiable and inappropriate behavior from the two aforementioned Eleven Diner employees should be rectified yielding to the customer. I would appreciate a response. Thank you VLJ

Great food, warm and lively atmosphere, good service. We got the tuna melt and the veggie Reuben. Both were great. Fries were good and malt was fabulous. Highly recommend

As a party of four, we walked in and put our name on the waitlist for Saturday lunch. Music was blasting. After a twenty minute wait, we were seated. We were literally yelling at each other to be heard. We asked for the music to be turned down and were told “no….this is a high energy place”. We got up and walked out.

Just had a yummy brunch at Eleven City Diner. We had to wait ~30 minutes for a table, but a waitress was available to take drink orders while we waited. When we were seated service was prompt and cheerful. I ordered Coco’s Eggs, which was an egg scramble with feta cheese, tomatoes, spinach and scallions, delicious! It was accompanied by some of the best, crispiest fried potatoes I have ever had. My daughter had a breakfast burrito, and my granddaughter had an order of small pancakes and a vanilla shake, fries and applesauce! We all loved our meals. I’ll definitely go back to sample more menu items, maybe when it’s a little less busy!

Very nice place, friendly environment. Good food in large enough plates, that you could share...after 10am they started serving drinks, mimosas and bloodmaries. There is a waiting time that could reach 30-40min after 10am, but they try the best to find a place to you quickly.

Food was delicious! Generous portions, super busy but the staff was like a well oiled machine. Bloody Mary's were very tasty, we will be back.

We loved it at this cute little diner so much we ate breakfast twice while on a long weekend trip! The fried potatoes were amazing as well as great Bloody Mary’s. The location was super close to our hotel which was convenient. It’s worth a stop while in town. Hoping next time to catch lunch there!

Best.Breakfast.Ever. The corned beef hash is wonderful and the pancakes are the fluffiest I’ve ever seen. Worth the wait and the price!

If you like the Blues, this is the place. Staff, atmosphere and food all top notch! You can reserve a table in advance (recommended) or show up. As for pricing, comparable to most chains, but food is soooo much better.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Eleven City Diner! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcomed, and their attentiveness truly stood out. Our server, Alexis, was fantastic—thoughtful, friendly, and full of great recommendations. A special shoutout to your management team as well! Sunday can often feel like a tough day in restaurants, but your team radiated positivity. My grandma, who can be a bit of a handful at times, was treated like royalty. One of your managers kindly grabbed her a chair and even spent a few minutes chatting with her, which absolutely made her day. She turned to us and said, "You see, I still got it!"—a moment we’ll all cherish. The food? Incredible! Alexis suggested we try the French toast as an appetizer, and wow, it was out of this world. The Bloody Mary and cappuccino espresso were equally amazing, making for the perfect pairing. Beyond the food, the vibe of the diner was just fantastic—fun, vibrant, and so uniquely cool. We can’t wait to visit Chicago again just to come back. Eleven City Diner, please consider opening a location in Alabama—we’d be your biggest fans! Thank you for an unforgettable dining experience!

Wow! Just wow, all the food was fantastic. I had a vegetarian Ruben that was just tremendous, I highly recommend it. I’ve never had anything like it. The fries were great. My companion got a huge Cobb salad with grilled chicken, others got Mexican eggs on corn tortillas, the only bummer is Pepsi, NO Coke.

The food was amazing, big and tasty. We arrived and had to wait, so got a Bloody Mary. This was a meal and a cocktail in itself. Great service and for such a tourist magnet, quite reasonable

What a great spot!!! Family and I visit Chicago often and we have never been there until this weekend!! Place was busy but we waiting... My kids were with us and the nice host offered us crackers and gave my daughter a little umbrella. So CUTE!!! Food and service was great! Our server gave us some nice suggestions :)). French Toast BEST!!!! We will be back in a few weeks for Lollapalooza. We found out Chicago breakfast place forever.

Tried this place for breakfast and it was so delicious! The portions were large and it was all so good. Loved the atmosphere.

Delight your turkey sandwich, everything I can imagine and more, great service and customer service, make you feel welcome from before you walk through the door.

Bella Sicilia has consistently impressed me over my several visits over the years. Like being in Italy, the cuisine is genuinely authentic. A welcome diversion from the typical commercial eateries in the heart of the city. This is the place to go if you value authenticity and excellence. Returning is always a delight!

Craft root beer and meats roasted in-house, count me in. Great atmosphere and excellent food. Eleven City Diner is a little on the pricey side but it’s bound to be an enjoyable experience. Be cautious if offered a place at the bar. There are two sections of bar seating. The end with fixed seats are a challenge for anyone over 5’ 5”. The bar stools sit so low to the ground it can be uncomfortable for a taller person.

Good food for recovering from a long night. Nice environment and very good food. The service was good as we sat at the counter. Very good bloody mary's fresh made and not out pre mixed.

For an American breakfast experience or excellent corned beef or brisket sandwiches. A bit of a wait because there were a lot of people.

Cool atmosphere and very generous servings of delicious food! I tried the matzah ball soup and the matzah ball was literally the size of a softball! Others had giant sandwiches that were amazing. A little noisy but worth it for the food.

Sadly only found this place on the last day of our trip otherwise would have definitely returned. Chose the 'melt in the mouth' brisket as described and it lived up to expectation - delicious. The crafted root beer was so tasty too. Tried a giant slab of red velvet cake as it looked enticing on the counter but wished I'd opted for the chocolate cake instead, which was apparently to die for. Good service and a great looking authentic diner - worth a cab ride but definitely read the menu online before going otherwise it'll take ages once you're there! Will definitely go again on my next visit to Chicago, gotta try an Eleven City breakfast.

I chose the cornbeef/pastrami sandwich. The cornbeef was very tender and lean. It had hardly any fat. The homemade fries are awesome. They came to the table hot off the fryer. I was talked into having their rootbeer float (which was homemade and included an extra shot of original actual rootbeer). Served in a chilled glass made the drink over the top. It was a great lunchtime decision.

Oh.My.Amazingness! I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing food and service. The server was very attentive and the food came out hot and delicious. The meal was large and the cost was fair with the amount of food received. Everyone in our group was pleased with their food choices. I will visit again if my travels take me back to Chicago.

The minute you walk in, you are greeted with a hello, and the diner atmosphere with all the deli meats and ice cream shoppe features. The place was crowded with a line waiting. I enjoyed the 3 egg sausage omelette with crispy potatoes. My wife loved her “Zenith” corned beef and pastrami. We have found “the place” to go! If you want to impress anyone, have them try to beat this place! The staff goes above catering to your every whim. Can’t wait for another trip to Chicago.

If you want the quintessential american diner experience head to Eleven City. The setting is superb, the staff excellent and teh food exactly what you'd expect. Huge menu - large portions - excellent service.

The staff were incredibly warm and genuinely kind. The burger was excellent—perfectly cooked—but the fries weren’t quite to our taste. That said, the decor and atmosphere were spot-on and truly delightful.

Attentive service, creative menu, and wonderful food! For someone that loves breakfast, this spot was a nice choice during our stay in Chicago. We couldn’t finish our plates - serving sizes were generous - but we tried!

I’d go so far as to say, a must do in Chicago, at least for breakfast. Fantastic, varied menu, much of which is traditional in the delicatessen style. Large portions and all made fresh to order. That includes drinks and desserts too. The decor is an endless array of knick knacks to occupy our eyes while you await your meal. It really brings charm to the place, as most of the decor is old or classic. There’s a small store at the front too selling vintage candy, souvenirs, and even a deli counter featuring some of the wares made onsite. It’s a very well run establishment with efficient staff taking orders, delivering food, and clearing tables quickly for the next guests. We arrived shortly after opening on a Sunday and it was already hopping. By the time we left, there were dozens waiting outside for their tables. Truly a unique experience and worth a visit.

Second time back and a better experience. The waiter was very customer friendly and helpful. His smile radiated throughout my communication with him. The burger, fries and rootbeer float were amazing. I had a chance to sit at the counter to eat. Boy, it brought back memories of long ago when diners were more common.

Enjoyed visiting this restaurant. I thought the food was good and prices on par for what things cost in Chicago. The matzo ball soup was very good and the actual matzo ball was HUGE! I had the corned beef sandwich and thought that while it was not NY deli level it was a good value and was tasty. I wish they had half sour pickles too!

Very popular venue for breakfast. A good selection on offer. Food was ok, very large portions which is to be expected in the US. Pleasant staff, friendly vibe and atmosphere. Dined here a few time during our stay in Chicago, more because was a favourite of one of our travel companions.

This was our second time here. Both times were before Bears games when they are very busy. We had to wait quite a while to get a table, and I must say that the guy at the door was very rude. Fortunately the waitress was not and the food was very good.

Rude, from the moment we were seated until paying the check. Which they refused to split. Rudely asked if our food was ok once, never refilled drinks ($5.99), walked by several times as we called out, when we asked for the ticket they cleaned tables, chatted with others and delayed us more. Oh! We had to take the ticket to the register because no one returned to the table. After providing the worst service we have experienced thus far, he asked for a tip. My colleagues said their food was good but I promise you it isn’t worth the bad atmosphere and the bad taste the workers leave in your mouth. TIP: People pay for food but tipping is optional for service.

We enjoyed our dinner here, wonderful variety of foods to choose - breakfast for dinner and lots of other options.

Nice to have 11 City back but there are changes for the worse. Paper menus are not available, and that is really a shame: phones do not always work (mine did, don't worry) and the restaurant should strive to please customers! In our case, a polite question "Can we see a paper menu?" produced a surly response, which was highly inappropriate. Let's hope the manager (it was him, not a waitress) was just having a bad day.

The hoster was very rude with us! He told us he runs the place and he push us back with not reason! They could have good reviews for food but for service! It is a shame Michelin does not consider this kind of behaviors.

All your favorite traditional diner foods. Eggs with pastrami, bagels with smear, great Bloody Marys, did I miss anything. I’m sure I did.

My son and I were in Chicago for the day at the Planetarium. We walked over and ate at Eleven City Diner based on the reviews. My son was sold with the buttermilk pancakes topped with ice cream. He said "they were the best pancakes I ever had!". I went with the Rubin's Reuben. It was probably the best Reuben sandwich I ever had! The French fries that came with them were absolutely great! I highly recommend this restaurant for a great meal!!

I was super happy that this was my choice for lunch as my first stop arriving into Chicago from the airport. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. So many good choices, I'd love to go back sometime.

The restaurant has a classic diner vibe with a deli as well. Ordered a keto breakfast, which was absolutely delicious. Good service. Note they open later at 8am

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food is excellent. I had the avocado bagel breakfast and it was delicious. Love the energy of the place.

We had their Rueben appetizer and it was great. Did not want the fries. Coffee good. Soup was perfect. Lots to try just not enough time. We must go back!

Very unfriendly They are so well known that they don’t take care about their customers They have enough That’s the impression I got when I was there. I can’t recommend it

Very busy and crowded but staff is very friendly. Huge portions. I ordered tuna melt. Would have been good if it had been warm. Inside was ice cold. I think that the cheese on top melted before the scoops of tuna could get warm. Food was good and plates ordered around me looked good and huge. But huge doesn’t make up for average taste. I don’t think I would stand in line for a meal there again.

Great diner. Had Reuben Reuben and pastrami. Love the rye bread. We also had the carrot cake. Very moist and delicious, but it was heavy. We couldn’t finish it at 2

Came for lunch. The milkshakes were so good - perfectly blended and delicious! The sandwiches were generously sized and really tasty and the fries had a seasoning on them that was unusual and delicious. Highly recommend coming here

The Best PASTRAMI , Best MAtzah Ball Soup, and Best Challah Grilled Cheese. Service Absolutely Incredible. The owner is super hands on, making everyone feel at home and have a great time!!!! We had an issue with our flight and he helped us personally solve all our problem, really impressive how the service here is truly Amazing!!!! This Deli is definitely a Must!!!!! OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!

Laura G provided excellent service, suggestions and sight seeing advice, all appreciated! Great food, fun atmosphere and will be on our list for our return trip. Thanks for everything!
Worst service!
The food was good, but the service was horrible. Apparently, silverware and straws are by request only. Portions of our meal was missing
