I liked that there was a full bar. It was also convenient to my hotel. The service was quick and efficient. The food was just average. My fish and chips were a little soggy. Not crisp at all.

We aren’t from the Northwest so after a long day of flying from Florida to Portland, we were starving. Mapquest said Elmers was 10 mins from the airport and we read the online reviews and decided to give it a try. I’m glad we did! It’s not a fancy place...but just what we needed. Our family of 4 had omelettes, pancakes and a German pancake. My sons said the pancakes were some of the best they’ve had. My garden vegetable omelets was delicious. We may stop by again before we return our rental car and head home!

I STOPPED THERE FOR BREAKFAST and glad i did. really tasty omlets everything we ate was good and cheap for portland

We stopped at Elmer's at about 8:30 PM on a Friday for a quick bite on our way home from the airport. Other than the excellent service we received from Cassie, the food was disappointing all around. The scrambled eggs were bright yellow and cooked into dried strips. They were either fake eggs or they were mixed up hours before we ordered them. The hash browns were okay on the edges, but the inside center was cold. My English muffin was burned. Perhaps we just stopped when there was a bad cook on duty, but we were expecting more from the reviews.

We ate dinner on two different nights and had the same waitress both times. She was awesome. The food was good, hot and fresh. Everyone who worked there was friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean and nice. If we are ever visiting again we will stop for sure.

My salad on the first visit had stale nuts that really tasted poorly. Spouse had pick a pair she thought hers was good. Our second visit was much better. The Ivars clam chowder is always good. Elmers is clean and well staffed.

We went in the morning before turning in our rental car. Delicious, hearty breakfasts. Don't go if you are really tight on time, food took a little while to come but was worth the wait.

Right next door to our hotel, BW. Had a great breakfast for dinner! We were welcomed immediately at the door by a young man and a smile. Had a great waitress - very helpful and fun to talk to. Food was freshly made, very flavorful, many choices! Place is very clean and updated. Will be back when in town!

We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The food was great and the service was excellent. I would advise everyone to try it.

We stopped for a late lunch after traveling all morning and before heading to the coast. Lunch was good and it was pretty quiet when we were there. Service was good which topped off the afternoon.

We were looking for lunch near the airport after a relatively long flight and decided to try Elmer’s (something different) instead of IHOP (something standard) - the two easy options we could see along the route and nearby. We are so glad we made the decision to go to Elmer’s! The atmosphere was good, the service friendly and attentive, and it was truly a highlight of our trip for our young kids. They have a great kids menu provided in a little booklet of coloring and activities, triangle shaped crayons that don’t roll off the table every two minutes (even with a toddler!) and each of the kids even received a felt mask! The latter may have been an October special near Halloween but it was a fun souvenir. On top of that, the food options are plentiful and everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, a wonderful family friendly find in the Portland area!

Elmer’s is becoming our ‘go to’ brunch restaurant. Today’s was truly up to their usual standard, we had the German pancake combo and French toast with fruit, bacon and eggs - excellent! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you have not been here before.

Outstanding breakfast. Menu varied with out of the norm combinations and choices. Had the Eggs Benedict with avocado and my wife had the Northwest scramble. Absolutely delicious! Also we shared a cinnamon role pancake. WOW! Our server, Brittany, was super friendly, helpful, very attentive. Restaurant was clean and bright.

This is a chain, but it has great food, prepared in creative way. I had the German pancake with fruit - no syrup needed. I would eat here again, if visiting Portland, and would like to try another item on the menu, too. Good service. Nice restaurant.

We are in town every year for the same time for a whole week and Elmers is always convenient and open late. Great menu that has a little of everything so no matter what we're in the mood for, especially late at night when we finally have time to eat and none of us can figure out what we want. Somehow, I always end up eating breakfast at 10 p.m.! And I am not a breakfast person, but Elmers has some good stuff. Just wanted to give a shout out to Eric our server the last night. We ate at Elmers 4 times last week and service is always good, but Eric was exceptional. We have a restaurant ourselves and always watch and listen to the servers. Eric was great at all the tables. Hang onto him! We'll see you next year!

We ate breakfast and dinner at Elmer's. the food was very good, the prices reasonable, and our waitress, Brittany, was very sweet and friendly. When visiting Oregon, stop at Elmer's for a good meal.

We had a late dinner at Elmer's and it was much better than expected. The facility is very nicely maintained and decorated. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was very good. They have a nice variety of seafood. They have limited wines, but what they had was very good. Recommended.

Wow what a great breakfast.. such a lovely clean restaurant and friendly staff.. first visit here and I shall be going back.. plenty of choices on the menu and reasonable prices..

Service is usually good at Elmer's and this location was even better than we come to expect. Our waitress was very attentive, funny and talkative. Food was same good home cooking we come to expect from Elmer's.

We had a great and very fun breakfast at Elmers. It was conveniently located near the airport, the menu is extensive and has something for everyone, and they serve generous portions of surprisingly good and freshly made food. Service was friendly and helpful!

Elmer's is an unpretentious place for any meal of the day - one you can not imagine featuring the crisp, white tablecloths, waiters remaining of retired British butlers, or Chateau-Whatever wines of limited edition, at the same time you will leave the place full and satisfied. Exactly how we did feel after having a light dinner other day. You will not feel disappointed if chose Elmer's signature Iver's Acres of Clam Chowder which never fails to satisfy. Same thing, choice of Cobb Salad - very generous helping of iceberg lettuce, topped with chopped hard boiled egg, crisped bacon, avocado, chicken, olives and sprinkle of blue cheese, delicious and healthy at the same time. All that topped with Elmer's spring feature - blended strawberry lemonade, Elmer's answer to a Shirley Temple - and their own signature Cran-mosa. Sorry, no deserts - yet again, you will have to wait for another time

Near the airport, this is a lovely place for lunch. Great coffee, attentive service. I had the Northwestern skillet which was delicious, full of veggies and very tasty. Wife had a BLT and liked it too. Would have given it a five except that the men’s room sorely needed servicing. Go here for an inexpensive good meal.

Cozy and Comfortable location. Great service and value. We Enjoyed a good dinner with nice portions near the airport. Not many good options nearby.

Very filling great service. Food was good also, will come back for sure. The waitress was really helpful and knew the menu and had recommendations.

We were staying over night between flights next door to Elmer's at a hotel. Elmer's was recommended by the hotel and we had a very good dinner.

The prime rib, mash potatoes and broccoli and carrot hot vegetables were soooo salty. I only ate my prime rib and left the rest behind.

We frequent this establishment at least once per week. We have gotten to know the mgr who is always circulating and ensuring all is well. If there is a problem, she acts quickly and sets it right. It's very nice to have such an interactive and reactive manager.

well my honey an i just wanted to take advantage of having the day off ,thought we would go to Elmers an have a breakfast an few drinks .along with playing a bit of poker, well. We ordered omelets an when it finally got to our table mine was ok but my husbands had no cheese an the waitress should of never questioned it. good Customer service she should of not even questioned it. we left a bit unhappy an the way she did her job.

We love Elmer's! Their breakfast is always great as well as their lunch menu, I can't speak of dinner tho, have never been for dinner. With that said, we have been to quite a few Elmer's Restaurants. This one was terribly DIRTY and old and just out right gross. The carpets look like have not ever been cleaned. It was so bad, I didn't want to let my jacket or my purse touch the ground. We met friends there, and the food was fine. But the place was so old and dirty I couldn't wait to get out of there. We stopped in the bathrooms on the way out and just as bad. I don't understand why any of the restaurants do deep cleaning and or out right updates?!?!?!?! And, over the years, the coffee has progressively gotten worse. Most of the restaurants don't offer flavored creamers to help choke the coffee down.

We stopped in for breakfast our first day in Portland. Great atmosphere (love the fireplaces!), fast service and the food was excellent. There was so much of it too! The service was great too. We enjoyed it a lot.

We ate there twice on a recent trip to Portland and enjoyed both meals. The service was fast and friendly and the food was plentiful.

As with others, the restaurant was close to our hotel, so we walked over. Large menu (we did see a vege. burger listed). Both of our plates were of generous portions and tasty. It was not busy when we arrived, but by the time we left; the lone waitress was very busy; and there was a slightly longer wait time that usual to have our credit card transaction completed. Overall, the experience was a good one and we would return again when in the area.

Half garden sandwich and Ivar's clam chowder and veggie skillet with egg whites fit our appetite and our caloric requirements. Pleasant interior, excellent service, good chice near PDX.

Elmer is the last name of the founder of the chain not his firat name. But we can still make the comparison to the California chain called Denny's. Good food at reasonable prices. No the Gourmet will not be blown away but the hungry traveler will find something satisfying in the large and varied menu.

Food was good service was ok. Very noisy then a group of 9 young men were seated next to us and the were almost yelling we asked the hostess if she could ask them to tone it down some she just walked away

So glad this was near my hotel. I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by two friendly hostesses. Taken straight to a clean table. Food came fast. Great breakfast options. During the meal Two managers stopped by to check on me which was nice. Angela did a great job serving and I would def come back again. Good value for the money.

Affordable, tasty, and welcoming. You cannot ask anything better. Much better than IHOP or Denny's. Highly recommend crab benedict.

We went to Elmer's after seeing the great reviews. The clerk at the hotel also said it was very good. We were impressed. The food was excellent. My husband had the prime rib and I had seafood. He also had the yellow bowl salad and I had a cup of chowder. Both were delicious. Service was also great! Alicia was very good as was Desirae who also helped us. We will definitely go back if we are in the area.

This was convenient so we stopped in. They weren't busy but service was slow. Our server didn't seem to pay much attention to us as we needed beverage refills more often than she visited our table. The food was :"okay", nothing special.

Great customer service from Christin. Food was plentiful and over the top. Highlight was the German pancake and has browns with cheese and onions. Everyone had a great meal!

It is a down home atmosphere with friendly folks to seat you and take your order. We had berry crepes and Dungeness Crab Benedict. Both meals were delicious and the price was reasonable. Will definitely be back!

The restraunt was clean the staff were friendly. The fireplace in the back was a nice touch. I would eat here again!

always consistent for breakfast.....love mr elmers omelette...my wife likes the baby german pancake served with powder sugar and lemons....also the hostess Elizabeth always greats you with a smile....good job!

My girlfriend and I were heading from Portland down the coast of Oregon on an all day trip and needed a place to stop for breakfast early in the morning on Sunday. Elmer's was open at 6 it was very inviting and our waitress Savannah was extremely helpful. We went with the German pancakes and breakfast Burger and it set us up perfectly for the delicious meal and fresh fruit to energize us for the whole day. Highly recommend Elmhurst

Great place for breakfast. Varied menu, good flavor, decent prices. Staff was outstanding. Very clean.

Tried Elmer's for dinner as I was staying near PDX and wanted something filling before I flew out. I had the country fried steak and eggs with the hashbrown casserole. It was good. The whole meal was good. I wasn't wowed but wasn't disappointed either. Elmer's serves a variety of dishes and has breakfast lunch and dinner entrees all day. They are very similar to Perkins, Sharri's and Denny's. Service was ok. They were busy and my waitress had other tables but did check on me a few times. Price was fine for what I got and I would eat here again.

A nice spread but it wont let me upload. We found a big dark hair in the Dungenous Crab Eggs Benedict. Manager discounted that plate 50%...the other half we ate and it was good.

Elmer's is becoming our new "go to" restaurant when traveling in Oregon. This particular restaurant looks very new. The food was great and the service top notch. This isn't a fancy restaurant, but very clean and nice looking. If you haven't tried Elmer's, do so.

I went to Elmer's as it was next to my hotel, and needed to be within walking distance. I checked to see if they still served breakfast items for dinner, and to my delight they did! I got the Dutch Baby, which is something that doesn't seem to be served in breakfast places on the East Coast. It was great, and just what I wanted. Service was good.

This is a large and friendly restaurant. Our waitress has some great suggestions, was very friendly and always kept our coffee cups topped off.

Great food selection, great service and clean atmosphere. Started roughly 50 years ago and still going strong.

Lucked out having this place next to our hotel. Quickly seated, food came out fast and was delicious. I ordered the strawberry crepes that came with a side of eggs and a meat.

We went to two different Elmer's restaurants while in Portland. One day we had breakfast, which was very good. The crab omelet was excellent. I had the seafood feast twice; my husband got it once. My husband also had the reuben, which he liked. Their fried salmon and halibut are great. This was our easy go to place.

Our waitress was the best. She was friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Our food was fresh, hot, and tasty. After we ate, she brought us a “welcome package” which included a $10.00 coupon for our next visit. There was an incident with a man coming in several times and being asked to leave. Upon leaving the last time, he smashed in one of the windows. There was flying glass in peoples hair and in their food. The staff was already on the phone with the police before it happened anticipating the trouble. They handled the situation very well, and no one was hurt seriously. It was a bit traumatic, however, the professionalism with which it was handled made it less frightening. I would highly recommend this restaurant both for the food and service.

I don't know if it was by chance or if this isjust normal, but I've never had a piece of bacon have a perfect amount of crisp to chewiness to it. It was amazing. It was a random stop off for some breakfast food before a hike that didn't end up happening because of closed parks, but the food was still really good.

Our waiter Matt and the General Manager Katrina Marie were exceptional. We got such undivided attention and they made sure we were very happy customers. It was not only delicious but we got exactly what we wanted. I loved and appreciated their flexibility. Five stars for the staff of Elmer's.

Amazing service. Great food. Amanda was a great server. Highly recommend this location. We didn’t wait to be seated. Service was prompt. Great atmosphere.

Very good selection, great service and very convenient for my stay at the neighboring Best Western Pony Soldier Inn. The food was well prepared and offered generous portions. Elmer's offers great quality for a reasonable price.

I had some time to kill so I walked into the lounge for a pint and to play a little Video poker. Nice pleasant lounge. Good Service. Relaxing place to have a drink and chill out. I'll have to stop in again sometime and treat myself to a meal in the restaurant for Breakfast. Love Elmer's for that good old morning meal that I am just too lazy to make for myself. Besides, theoier tastes much better than mine.

Ww were driving two cars up from a lo g weekend at the Orwgon coast we arranged to meet up here for a farewell lunch before heading iver to the airport to go our separate ways. Some of us had Elmer's breakfast, while others had burgers. Good food and conversation! Service was VERY good. I liked that they had "lite" burgers, but since thwy are half as thick, Elmer's should only cook them half as long - mine turned out pretty dry and crunchy. Fries were great, though!

Located just next door to my hotel, I ventured over for dinner, where I ordered dinner. I had the classic waffle, hack browns, and bacon. The waffle and bacon were wonderful!! The hash browns, while tasty, were a bit too greasy for my taste. Service was just ok. Prices are good.

I grew up in Portland and truly enjoyed Elmer's on 82nd, but it is long gone. However, we now frequent this location whenever visiting. The German Pancake is delicious as are any breakfast entree. The French Dip is another winner. Best of all is the terrific service and kindness towards my elderly mother. She has wonderful memories of Elmer and of his restaurants.

This was a great choice. It was highly recommend and it did not disappoint. Great food and wonderful service.

This restaurant is open for all meals, is spacious, has excellent wait staff, and has ambiance in the fireplace room. The food was wonderful, with very large portions, and the menu choices were plentiful. Seating was comfortable. No wait to be seated. We ate there regularly during our stay in Portland.

We have been here before always had a good meal. Being a sunday evening not very busy. Good server and friendly. Our meal was good and filling.

Order fish & chips for lunch. Dish was hot and tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Food was good/average. Staff was very nice and friendly. It was right next to our hotel and provided a very convenient place to eat when we didn't want to bother with the traffic to go elsewhere.

What a wonderful surprise Elmer’s was! We went there because of the proximity of our hotel. The servers were so nice and friendly. Our food was quite tasty. My cod fish was perfectly done and I love that they offer smaller portions! My husband’s prime rib dip sandwich was delicious too. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Erik, our waiter was excellent. Food - top notch. We had omelette and skillet breakfasts. Probably should not have eaten so much but too god to leave behind. This was next door to Pony Soldier Inn, another excellent establishment.

Just stopped in on the way to the airport. Got in and out in 30 min and had a great breakfast. Great service. Fair price.

As a diabetic I can't do the carbohydrate fests that hotels offer for breakfast. Lucky me that Elmer's was right next door to my hotel. Was supposed to meet a music industry buddy for breakfast, but he had to bail due to medical issues, so I went solo. Everything was great, from the initial greeting to the parting comment on my way out. Only thing keeping them from getting an Excellent was my server forgot to bring the hot sauce I requested when she offered it to me. The menu is large and varied, servings are generous, and food quality is top-notch.

First things first, breakfast was good. I had chicken fried steak and eggs. It was good. The coffee was hot and my server even made me a cup to go. The restaurant itself kinda reminded me of Dennys, and wasn't the cleanest (there was evidence of children's drawings everywhere), but for a weary traveler; it was just right.

Lots of choices, especially for breakfast. Great place for multi-generational family meals so everyone gets what they want. Decent wine choices too for dinner

On such a varied menu, you'd think they could include at least one vegetarian option. The only thing available was a monotonous dinner salad -- pale lettuce, a few bits of chopped tomato, and some olives. The service was good though.

Came in on a saturday had a horrible experience . Our food took 25 minutes and was cold when it arrived . Our server paulette said she will have it remade . When it came back it looked like she microwaved it . We heard our server talking about us to another employee in the back of the restaurant complaining we were mortified ! We will never come back!

Elmers was next door to our hotel (BW Pony Soldier Inn) and it was a very hot night so we decided to eat here rather than venture far. The restaurant is new, spacious and very well finished - a lovely environment to enjoy a meal. Service was excellent throughout, our waitress was brilliant, she just couldn't have been more helpful. To start the tomato soup tasted fresh and home made. As a main I had the prime rib which was a little overdone but OK, my wife had the flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly. The meals came with good vegetables which were neither too soft or too hard. There was a nice choice of draught beer but a very limited choice of wine by the glass - our only real disappointment.

We were impressed by the great service, and the food was really good too. The restaurant was clean, and the employees were kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely go back again when in the neighbourhood.

......So I could not resist. I ordered the smaller of the two options and ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect & nicely seasoned. The baked potato and veggies were good. The bride had a salad and clam chowder. Both were terrific but to much to finish unfortunately. The facility was bright and clean the staff was pleasant and professional. We will be back!!

Perfect spot for fresh local food Great friendly service Good combinations and daily soups Lovely ambiance and great flowers out front A great recommendation

Recommended by the Hotel. They claim to have heard lots of positive feedback. I found the staff friendly and help full. They restaurant is very family friendly. I started with a cup of Ivars clam chowder. For my main I had the chicken fried steak with Yukon mashed potatoes and carrots. Too full for dessert.

We tried to go to the one in Hillsboro the day before but the wait was over an hour so went on our way to the beach. Hit this one up on a whim on our way to the airport. We were seated promptly and everything was great as usual. We really need some of these in Phoenix! This is a good spot to fill your belly and your car on the way to the airport.

$15 -+ average meal cost. Private room. Code to rest room. Drove from central vanc in the rain after a storm. My cheeseburger tasted like filler not hamburger. Environment good. Wish I had tried a breakfast item for the same price.

We stayed at a hotel next to this Elmer's and ate dinner here three times. The menu is so varied you can try something different each time. We had breakfast, prime rib, chicken fried steak, scrambled egg breakfasts, chicken tenders and fish and chips. All were very good and the wait staff very friendly and efficient. It's not gourmet but it is good and they have a full bar.

I would eat here again! Food was delicious and fresh. I had a breakfast skillet. Waitstaff was excellent. Coffee was good with lots of refills - never had an empty cup. Easy to get to as it is right off of 205. Can't wait to go back.

This establishment is conveniently located next to Best Western Pony Soldier Inn. Very clean, and staff is warm and friendly. Boyd's coffee is served, and it is wonderful. Wide variety of dishes for breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito which was served with salsa, a dollop of sour cream, and a couple of avocado slices on top. So delicious! Also had fresh fruit: bananas, grapes, and watermelon. The watermelon was perfect. Great service, nice atmosphere. Very enjoyable!

Warm, inviting restaurant with really good food. Very clean and good service (thanks Selene!). I had the classic German pancake (yummy) and he had the Tillamook omele (the bite he shared with me was very good...real flavors and light eggs). Good coffee too!

Right off 205 at Sandy Blvd. Our server was very bubbly. She encouraged my husband to order the zesty tomato soup-- she was so right! I had half of a turkey sandwich with a cup of Ivar's clam chowder. You can't miss with Ivar's chowder.

The boyfriend and I were staying at the hotel near the restaurant and decided to try it out since it was a bit late. When we walked in we were greeted right away and seated. The customer service was extremely excellent the whole time. Very friendly staff. The food was great quality and well priced! Would definitely recommend for any kind of meal you’re craving! They have everything from breakfast to lunch and dinner.

I eat here regularly because of the excellent quality of food preparation and the friendly and diligent staff. Did I mention that they're fast? They are, and their food is cooked to perfection. Plenty of parking places & easy in and out, freeways just a jump away, and a great motel next door for your out-of-town guests. Also it opens earlier than most other restaurants, which allows for those of us who are on a tight schedule to get in and out timely. When family visits, this is where we go.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and ate here mostly because the hotel was not serving breakfast due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Elmer's was open, and they offered dining room service with a full menu. Numerous precautions had been taken for the disease. Masks are required for entry, though of course they can be removed while eating. About half the tables were placed out of use, and there were also plastic barriers. The staffed (who were all masked) seemed to wipe down tables constantly. Both the dining room and the restroom seemed spotlessly clean. I ordered crepes and a side of ham, together with coffee. It was a hearty and delicious breakfast. The service was quick and friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I would certainly return if I were in the area again.

I was cheerfully greeted by the hostess who was helping a customer through the doors and to her car. I was staying at the hotel next door and wanted a lite but late lunch. The last time I ate at an Elmer's in another city was not pleasant and both my husband and I was ill. But I took a chance and was very pleasantly surprised by the service, décor, cleanliness and the meal. I had a skillet dish that was very tasty and just the right portion. The only drawback was the sparse menu of desserts. The server (Jaysha) was personable, efficient, and knowledgeable. She answered my questions and gave me excellent suggestions. If ever in the area again, I will certainly stop for a meal.

We ate here twice, the place is nice with fireplaces and good service. I seems to be very popular and busy all day long., we could see the parking lot from our hotel room.

The food was good, the portions were large and service was prompt. For tired travelers, this was the answer. Menu had a wide variety of items, so there should be something for everyone and breakfast was served all day.

Great food and service. Our server was Rhonda and she was personable and efficient. The place is not the most updated but definitely good food. My husband loves breakfast any time of the day and enjoyed his Cousins Skillet. I had the fish and chips that were delicious. Prices were reasonable and food was hot. The only drawback is the busy highway it is located on makes it difficult to get in and out of the parking lot efficiently.

I'd call Elmers a slightly upscale Dennys style place. The sides were like you'd find at any chain, but the made on site stuff was great, with very fresh ingredients and plenty of TLC. I had the Willamette Omelette which was incredible, the hash browns just okay. But Chrissy, our server, was a delight with her ready smile and ever present coffee refills

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel we stayed at and it was everything plus. The establishment was very clean and the decor was great. The service we had was excellent and the food was very good. We ate there for dinner and enjoyed the establishment so much we went back for dessert. I would go back without hesitation if ever visiting Portland again and would highly recommend it to others.

This place is very conveniently located by the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn, walked over pushing mom in wheelchair. Thought it would be typical chain type dining however we were pleasantly surprised with great customer service and very good food. We were there catching up with family we had not seen in quite a while and took up our table for a very long time chatting away, we never once felt rushed and appreciated them telling us to not worry, take our time! Would definitely eat there again.

I was staying at the Best western next door. I went at an off hour and received excellent service. Try the salads, they were excellent.

Warm atmosphere. Friendly staff. Amazing food. Wide variety of choices on the menu. Plenty of food for the money.

Good food, friendly waiter. Clean premises. Good variety of food for anytime of day. The German pancake was yummy.

We went for a casual dinner at Elmer's as we were staying at the Best Western next door. I enjoyed my halt turkey, half clam chowder. My husband likes his fish and chips. For dessert we shared strawberry ice cream. Service was good.

Elmer's is just ok. It's better than Denny's but it's just an ordinary diner. Good prices and family friendly.

Average pancake house, tired decor, overpriced. Waitress was attentive, though. Close to airport hotels.

So glad we found you ❤️ and besides that, we love Elmer's! Love that breakfast is served all day. Smaller portions will be prepared upon request. The crepes are outstanding. The specials are truly special. A favorite stop when on the road!

We were blown away by the 8 page menue of irresistible breakfast choices. Our expectations were exceeded after finally deciding on the German Pancake with cherries and apples. The service was among the best we have ever had. Prompt, friendly, courteous and attentive. Our only complaint is that we wish they had a location in Seattle!!!

After traveling all day from Astoria and fighting the Portland traffic we knew we did not want to drive to find a place to eat. Elmer's was right across the parking lot from our hotel. Our server was Erik who did a great job. Ordered the Reuben which was a good choice. We actually went back the second night because of convenience

We had a group of six and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. The food was amazing!! Portions were large and you could easily share meals.

We ate there three times in six days. The first time was because it was convenient to our hotel. The last two was due to the excellent food and service. Large variety of styles priced right. Attentive staff and quick service.

My second visit here, and I got the Dutch Baby! Nicely done, and the bacon that I ordered arrived crispy as I liked it. Attentive service as well.

When flying this restaurant is very conveniently located next to Comfort Suites Airport on Sandy Blvd. We turned in our rental car, shuttled back to Comfort Suites, and ould walked to Elmers. It was chilly and we sat right next to the fireplace. Nice clean restaurant.

Run of the miil, less than average food. Had Breakfast at this location, stale biscuit, Oatmeal ok, tasted like instant. 2nd location I tried. Both very much the same.

Excellent, delicious, filling food. Best Southern-style biscuits and waffles (just a little crispy!) around. They have a selection of crepes including lingonberry. Can't wait to try the German pancake with lemon! (looks like blini to me)

I stayed at the Best Western next door. I ate dinner at Elmer's and found the food excellent. Michael gave us superb service. The price was fair.

I emailed these people to notify them of the lack of service and waitress went missing for an hour and no response from them now it’s been 4 weeks.

Great restaurant. Yummy food. Very clean. Friendly staff. We went for breakfast one morning then dinner another time but still had breakfast. Tried the german pancakes and then the crepes. My teenage son had the omelet and then pancakes. Reminds me of a VERY nice IHOP. (in many good ways)

Busy but they did a great job with our large group. Food was very good, prices good. Could use a little updating.

Ate a breakfast and a dinner here and they were both very good and served promptly. Very good spot to eat!

I guess we should have listened to the recommendations and come for breakfast because dinner was a disappointment. Hope other people have a better experience.

Excellent food and service! Greeted by friendly host, great server and food delicious. Never go wrong with PNW Elmers.

My sister and I ate here for breakfast. We ordered a skillet breakfast and it was already split for us when our our wonderful waiter, Erik served it to us. The breakfast was wonderful & so was the service. It also was only 6 minutes from the airport. We'd definitely return.

Great family restaurant. We came across this restaurant is in the pouring rain at night. We were exhausted and it was like walking into grandma's kitchen. Warm, smelled great and super nice servers.

Ate dinner one evening. Good food and service. Noisy, but that is todays families. Nothing outstanding to make me want to come back. Food was hot and served well. I guess I am getting fussy in my old age.

Elmer's was right next door to our Best Western and so we decided to go there for dinner. The service and food was very good and price was very reasonable. We went again the next night and we were just as happy. They offer lots of variety.

If you don't mind paying $5 for a piece of chocolate cake. We thought this would be a fun coffee break stop, but the restaurant was practically empty.and cost.too high.

Stayed by the airport before a morning flight. This Elmer's location was convenient and good. The Alaskan Cod was reasonably priced and very tasty.

We had never been to Elmer's before and is is now our Oregon favorite. We loved the restaurant and all of the healthy options. I loved getti getting extra fruit rather than toast or a biscuit. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his hungry man breakfast. Two of our party had the German Pancake and just raved about it. Perfectly cooked, served hot with lots of butter and maple syrup. It was the Best.

Very warm and inviting ambience, especially on the side of the restaurant with the fireplace. Yes, this is a chain restaurant well-known in the Portland area, but each location does its own thing. Almost all also hav a private room that can be reserved for groups. I had a lovely avocado benedict--fresh and nicely prepared with a very fresh fruit dish (vs. hash browns). The breakfast menu is extensive!

We had a nice quite goodbye meal with our daughter and grandson. The restaurant is adjacent to the Best Western which is convenient. Elmer's is Pacific northwest chain that does a nice job of serving family meals. The servings nicely proportioned and presented well. The service was good--attentive without being annoying. I always recommend Elmers.

Passing by we saw the restaurant and pulled in for a late lunch, arriving just after 2:30. The restaurant had only a few customers at this time so we were quickly greeted and seated. Chris was our server and did a great job of taking care of our needs. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our meals were prepared and served. The flavor was very good, and as tempting as the deserts looked, we were too satiated to indulge! I was also impressed at the cleanliness of this restaurant, as well as the friendliness of all the staff we encountered.

Usually go to our hometown Elmer's' in CdA, Idaho, which we love. I was traveling with a workmates who had not ever seen nor heard of Elmer's. Food and service was top notch. These restaurants, though individually owned, are consistently top notch. I had an omelette for my dinner and my workmate had a Reuben. Both were excellent!

Elmer's has always been a place where breakfast and lunch were good. I tried this Elmer's on a Friday evening and was very disappointed. The order was for prime rib and while the plate had prime rib the rest of the plate was not so appealing. First, the prime rib had to be returned because it was over-cooked. The second attempt was better but was not medium rare as requested. The included salad was very heavy on croutons but otherwise OK. A baked potato was tepid; the creamy horseradish was so mild it didn't even taste like horseradish; the corn was very tough and cold as was the au jus. Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen.

We ate here for dinner while staying next-door at the Best Western. The staff was friendly and efficient! We ordered breakfast food for dinner and it was fantastic!

We stopped in for a late lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. The place was clean and well lit. Our waitress was cheerful and pleasant. When the food arrived it was hot and delicious. I would visit Elmer's again when visiting the area.

I love this restaurant: the food is good, the staff is friendly and attentive, but I wish they offered dairy-free creamer for lactose intolerant and vegan guests.

My husband and I ate at this restaurant this evening and last night. The food was high quality, well prepared and adequately portioned. The servers were friendly and accommodating. We will go back!

Food was fresh but my fish and chips was very greasy. The waitress was nice but not attentive. They have a lot of choices from sandwiches to entrees.

I have dined at a number of Elmer's locations. Portland has quite a few of them. I happened to be in the Parkrose area of the city, so knowing Elmer's always has great breakfast, I decided to walk up Sandy Boulevard and get a delicious start to my day. The hostess was not the friendliest, unfortunately. She performed her job well, but didn't give me that smile and warm-welcoming feeling. However, I used to work in a restaurant myself, so I totally understand that it can be very difficult to work with customers all the time, and that not everyone has a super charming personality. My server was different from the hostess. She was very kind and committed to making my dining experience as positive as can be. She even asked me if I wanted coffee to go before I left the restaurant. She gave me a nice, big cup of coffee with cream and sugar, and I really enjoyed drinking it on the MAX on my way back downtown. I ordered the Dungenous Crab Benedict with fruit on the side, and added a side of grilled ham. The benedict was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the crab was fresh and high-quality. The fruit was fresh, not canned, which is always great, and was a nice, sweet addition to my meal. However, I was a little disappointed in the portion size of the ham. It was almost $4.00, and only included two little slices. I was hoping for a slightly larger portion for the price. Their coffee was had a great flavor. It was not too weak or too strong, and had a nice, sweet note. I have never been to an Elmer's restaurant for lunch or dinner, but they always have great breakfast.

We stayed at the Best Western Pony Soldier hotel - it was nest door to Elmers. We had never herd of Elmers but since we could walk there we gave it a try. We wanted to get something to bring back to the room so I got a french dip sandwich. The staff was very friendly and when I mentioned we were in a hotel they gave us everything to go with the sandwich ( salt, pepper, napkins and silverware). The food was great, not fancy, but really good.

If you are staying at any of the hotels along Sandy Blvd, you will be glad that Elmer's is available. There is not much else to be found nearby. Fortunately, Elmer's is good. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. They had useful suggestions for our food choices. We first arrived after a long drive and with dead phones. They sat us next to electrical outlets and we were sufficiently recharged, electrically and food-wise, by the time lunch was finished. We ended up having 2 lunches and a dinner here. They are famous for breakfast, but we had free breakfast at the hotel. My wife did have the delicious French toast for lunch and she would recommend it for anyone. The fish and chips are exactly the way fish and chips should be. I enjoyed the turkey dinner. The salads are excellent and large. The restaurant is clean, service is excellent, prices are reasonable, options are plentiful, and food is good. There is also a lounge attached for those who want wine or beer with a meal.

Our group of four had a relaxing dinner at Elmer's. The waitress was excellent - attentive, very pleasant and efficient. The only thing wrong was the hardest biscuit I've ever encountered. There is absolutely no way the kitchen staff didn't know it was hard since they had to pick it up and put it on the plate. I took a bite and it was like biting into a huge cracker. Thankfully the waitress removed it and brought me two pieces of toast. Thank you for that! Others in the group were very happy with their meals. The place was not real busy so we could take our time and visit. No wait to be seated,, lots of parking.

10-26-2017 We were at the Parkrose Elmers, tonight for a overnight stay were flying to San Fransico in the morning, to go on a 15 day cruise with my brother, Wade...my wife Lindy, myself Rod...my Mom & Dad. The German Pancake from Elmer's had been my favorite since I was a kid. Light, buttery with powdered sugar and lemon - the best!!!

This was conveniently located right next to our hotel on Sandy Blvd. I am a big fan of breakfast for dinner (pancakes, crepes, eggs, bacon, etc.), which many restaurants don't offer, so I was pleasantly surprised. It was busy, but we still had good service.

Throw back with a twist. I’m a huge fan of diners. I’m a bigger fan of local fare. Elmer’s surprised us for our first time. The Dutch baby was so perfectly delicate and delicious with the lingonberry butter. It would be hard to say no. The kids devoured the kid menu with the cub pancake and the full breakfast. For the lighter fare you can choose so many variations. The locals are all over this place. Please enjoy when you come.

From eggs to Benedict, hash browns to bacon, buttermilk to pancakes, Elmer's has perfected everything that's related to a diner brunch, yes, including that whipped cream for your coffee (optional, of course).

Service was excellent considering it was on a busy Sunday morning!! Food was very tasty. I loved the waffles, chicken sausages and mimosa's!! I don't eat pork but was told the chicken sausages were in lamb casing - which was very tasty (looking in my local store to find them).

I had good memories of Elmer's from past trips to the Northwest ... and maybe it's better for lunch than for breakfast. Or maybe I shouldn't expect a decent Benedict-style version of eggs. Tried the avocado benedict ... the English muffin underneath was cold and did not appear to have been toasted; the dish, otherwise, was inoffensive but tasteless. Hash browns were marginally edible. Still, my husband gave me half of his biscuit, which ended up being the best part of my breakfast.

This place was convenient to hotel and we ate there several times. Good was good, only complaint vegetables were the same every time we ate there.

Checked this place out for dinner as it was recommended by one of our hotel's staff members. Had the reuben sandwich which was really delicious and our server was on top of her game. Our food came very fast to our table too! They do breakfast all day which is awesome! Would definitely go back!

Good place for breakfast when you are in the area. Place looks good, well maintained and good service. I had a regular breakfast; 2 eggs and bacon with toast. Food came out quick and coffee was hot and tasted good. Good start of the day!

Came for a family mini vacation. Stopped at Elmer's restaurant after a four hour drive. Food was great. Customer service was awesome. When we ordered the food it arrived quickly. Didn't have to wait very long. Would definitely come again in the future.

We love playing KENO on Sunday mornings and the lounge at Elmer's has fast and friendly service. The food us always good, I really like the dutch baby pancakes!

Our family likes Elmers for the fact we can all eat different meals, breakfast lunch or dinner. Depends on flavor at the time for us. We can eat here family of 4 for $50 and under, so its an easy choice for our family. This particular Elmers gave us great service, all the staff friendly and helpful and even made us laugh. Will definitely be back.

Ate there 3 days in a row for lunch and/or dinner. Wonderful staff and the best food. Very reasonable; large portions.

Super convenient to the Best Western Pony Soldier since you can walk across the parking lot to it without crossing a street. That was important to us as we had already turned in our rental car at the airport. The inside architecture gave us a dual feeling of spaciousness and intimacy. The high and beautiful wood ceiling was particularly impressive and helped to put us in a better mood after a long, hard day. Clean, neat impression of interior (floor, table, utensils) and staff made us more confident about the kitchen. The seating was comfortable and the wait-staff courteous and efficient. Well managed, they got our order right the first time. A full menu with everything from soup and salad to prime-rib. I had the prime-rib and it was a good thick cut, properly cooked, served hot, and delicious. We will look for an Elmer's when we visit Portland again.

We have never been to an Elmer's before, so I can only say that this one seemed a bit tired like we were after a four hour flight arriving in the late evening. We went for breakfast choices which turned out ok. Our service was satisfactory. The table close by with the dirty plates that stayed like that during our visit was a distraction. But, as I said, it just seemed like a tired place where things moved along a little slower that night.

I'm not sure I'd go for dinne but their brunch was great. We liked the german pancake for dessert. Service was friendly and fast.

Not the best Elmer's I've visited but has the same menu and was good enough. Not in the best area of town but convenient to the freeway and the hotel. Waitress didn't get our orders exactly right but it wasn't worth the fight after a long day.

Elmers is located next door to the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn. It's not only convenient, it's the only restaurant in the area. Thank goodness it's an acceptable option. Elmers does not promote fine dining - it reminds me of Elias Brothers Big Boy or Shoney's Big Boy - but with good food (and a bar!). The food really is good. The service is better than average. It's a great option if you check in at the hotel late (I think they close at 10pm, I could be wrong).

We were very pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. This is a huge place with lots of tables but the layout is such that it nonetheless feels intimate and comfortable. All the regular breakfast dishes are available. Our eggs were cooked to the exact specifications we had indicated, the bacon was crisp and flavorful and the flapjacks were soft, moist and delicious. I cannot insist enough on the warmth of the welcome and of the service. The meal was I. Front of us in no time exactly as requested. Fabulous. Easy parking, easy access; we will definitely be back.

Ate breakfast here on the way to a Sunday morning flight. (It is close to the airport.) It was great. It's the best restaurant of this type I've seen (comparing to Denny's, IHOP, Original Pancake House and others). Nice, modern but comfy atmosphere. Fast friendly service from an experienced waitress (not an entry-level employee like a lot of budget-oriented places). Great menu options incl. vegetarian. Awesome specialty pancakes. Very reasonable prices. I had heard of Elmer's but this was first time there, and it's on my list of favorites.

I was looking forward to breakfast here and was not disappointed. They were busy but I was seated right away and the service was good. I had a generous manly breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I am a good eater but could just finish the generous portions. I will go here again if I have the chance. Rock on!

So I am visiting Portland once again. This place was on our way to The Grotto. Great find! Looks like a local place. The restaurant is very clean, the wait staff very kind, and the food is very tasty. Good atmosphere, everyone around talking and laughing, seemed happy with their food. Certainly will come back and prices are fair.

It's been a while since I last was there, STILL very consistent food, GREAT service, nice atmosphere, clean, nice folks, will return sooner. Salads were fresh, decent value and tasty!
Yummy Prime Rib surprise
Unexpected surprise. On our recent trip to Portland, we were out late around 9pm and realized how hungry we were while we were getting gas. We noticed Elmer's Restaurant right next door and thought we'd just get a late night burger but once we opened up the menu, we saw a photo of the Prime Rib dinner and decided to give that a try. What a yummy surprise! We ordered the larger Prime Rib to share-cooked medium rare and it came with nice side of jus and horseradish sauce. It was so juicy and delicious that we quickly devoured it up. The dinner came with a soup or salad option and either baked or mashed potatoes. We had the clam chowder and it was delicious-luckily we ordered an extra cup of soup because one would not be enough. Prime rib portion was very generous and came with a side of broccoli and carrots and some onion rings. We got the baked potato which came with butter and sour cream. We also ordered the panko fried shrimp on the side which you can add with this dinner. I don't usually like to eat deep fried foods but the shrimp was pretty yummy and was really tasty with the cocktail sauce. Our server was Kim and she was a really sweet lady and gave us wonderful customer service. Prime Rib was delicious and great value. Great customer service by Kim. Will visit again next time we are in the area.
