Trip advisors, you really let me down on this one. We went because of your reviews. I was disgusted by the gross sticky menu. The food was not even up to an IHOP standard. The chairs were uncomfortable and worn. They need to be replaced. The restaurant had AC and the lights were on. Recommendation: go somewhere else.

Elmer's Lounge is a wonderful place to dine. Yes there's a small video game corner, discretely tucked away and so quiet it never disturbs conversation. The serving staff are friendly and care about their customers. We've been eating here a half-dozen times a month for a number of years and are never disappointed.

We drove 12 hours that day and just wanted a Good Meal. Service was great, fast and was "right on point" for what we needed. We weren't looking for luxury....we needed some "comfort food" and to be out of the car!!!

Stopped in for breakfast and was greeted with great service, and quality food that looks and tastes as good as you would think from the menu pictures. They seemed happy to be serving you.

The staff is very professional and friendly. Service and food are excellent. Their breakfasts are terrific. Very pleased!

This is my 2nd visit to an Elmer's..The food is Soo good.. Today I chose an omelette with peppers, onions, ham & cheese it was cooked to perfection.. Really clean friendly restaurant. The prices are very reasonable too.. If u haven't sampled Elmer's it's a must đ

We had a very nice lunch here. The food was good, our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and the prices are in line with other similar eating establishments. The dining room was very clean as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stop again!

This place is a quick 5 minute walk right off the Parkhurst stop on the red line MAX. Breakfast was excellent! Really fresh food and great service!

We ate at the Elmer's Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner on NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, Ore, and Trip Adviser doesn't seem to have it on their list, so I will post my review at this listing. I had heard of Elmer's and thought it was probably a glorified Dennys. I was way wrong!! We ate in the lounge, as usual, to avoid the bigger crowds and bright lights, and I was first impressed with the ambiance. There was a beautiful fireplace, comfortable seating and of course the little side-room with slot machines. The waitress was very attentive and fast with our drinks. There were several TVs with various sports programs on them but the best thing of all was a huge menu with bright color pictures of the different meals. I was craving something hot with a home-made feel, as it was really cold outside (March winds!) and we had been in Portland for several days. So I decided to have the Pot Roast Dinner. I was blown away! The flavor of the meat was soooo delicious, and the plate, which was really more like a giant bowl, was piled high with REAL mashed potatoes and REAL gravy topped with a ton of tender flavorful roast. The side of greenbeans and carrots could have been a little more tender, but I didn't care. My meal came with homemade cheesy biscuits which were to die for, and there was so much left over, we ate it for lunch the next day. My husband had the reuben sandwich, and it was grilled and thick and juicy! I was really impressed, and I called my mom, who was staying in the hotel next door to Elmers, and told her she had to have the pot roast. She and my stepsister went the next day and were equally impressed. If I have the chance to stay in Portland again, this will be my first stop!! The prices were not too bad considering how much food one receives. And oh, their coffee is AMAZING!

We have been going to this location for many many years at least once a week for lunch or dinner. Sometimes breakfast. We stopped going altogether after a couple of visits in August. Of course the menu prices rose dramatically since 2000 ( as they have at all restaurants). And that wasnât the issue. Our issue was that the $17 we paid for a club sandwich that didnât remotely resemble what we used to get was so disappointing! It was nothing more than 2 pcs of toast with a slice of deli (not fresh) turkey breast, a slice of bacon and some tomato & lettuce. Not a stacked club like they used to make. And the wonderful Cobb salads we used to get were no longer available - they only put fried chicken in them now. And sooo skimpy but a lot more $. The service is still great! We just canât justify paying so much more for so much less than we used to get. Very bad value. Itâs goodby Elmerâs for us.

This was the first place we visited for food on a recent tour of the US in our first stop of Portland. The food was good, big portions and the service was really good. Very knowledgable and attentive. All in all a decent place to go for something to eat

This is a great place to just stop in a the bar and have a refreshing Bloody Mary ! They were Awesome

We were travelling through Portland and thought Elmer's looked like a local restaurant. We found out it is a regional chain, but has a very local feel. wait staff was excellent and gave us a gift certificate and letter from the management when we told them we were from out of state and first time eating at an Elmers. Good menu. Fined food.

We have been coming to this location for many years. The food is consistently great, servers are professional, and itâs a very well managed restaurant. Would highly recommend.

When passing through Portland, my kids always ask to stop at Elmer's. It has a great menu of breakfast dishes and reliably service. We have eaten at other Elmer's in various areas of Oregon and found them to have consistent quality and good service. One gripe: The coffee is horrible -- which in Oregon anymore is simply not defensible. So don't go there for coffee. But the rest is just fine.

We stopped here on our way home from the airport. It was about 8 PM and the place was fairly empty. The servers were nice but slow. Maybe they were tired. The food was good and met our needs, but with no business we expected better service.

Hi just want to thank you for hiring Mercedes she is truly and Excellent Bar Tender .I have never been so comfortable well it feels like I'm at home. She has always made Me and my Husbandfeel really good about our decision on being and regular there when we get our room across the street at Ramada we hafta to its must that we show up at Elmers to see her if she isn't there that day we wait another day just to see her. Our food is always Fresh she makes sure that is and that it's to our liking . So yes I look forward to seeing and my Husband yo we both look forward to seeing her and being her Customer. THANK YOU KIMBERLY CASTON

Great breakfast. Tried greman pancake for first time and it was great. Customer Service great and will surely return

My husband and I find ourselves drawn to the friendly staff, warm country vibes, and consistently tasty food at Elmerâs. The toasty fire radiates the warmth of the atmosphere. The Hefenveiser beer on tap is just as fresh and crisp as is the Cobb salad. Delicious, satisfying and not heavy. We generally split this salad and this is graciously done in the kitchen as the portions are generous. Come to think of it, it would be a treat to go there again for another visit. Eric serves us often enough to recognize us and his cheerful smiles light up our day. He doesnât miss a beat with the service either. This Portland chain has won a spot in our hearts.

This place serves home cooking style food. reasonably priced. We had the Prime rib dinner, and it was wonderful. ALOT OF FOOD!! We didn't walk away hungry with the portions they gave us. The place is nice and comfortable with a nice fireplace. There is also a lounge. The waitress helped us with some directions to some kid friendly sites to see.

Stopped with my mom and got crapes. They were super good. Customer service was great. Had help opening the doors. Seated where we wanted. People checked in with us during our meal. Waitress was on top of everything perfectly!

Hi Fellow TA. On way back from visit to Washington and staying over night before a morning flight out of Portland international we stopped for late lunch. Elmers is 2 miles from airport .Off of 205 which is the way to airport. Was next to Best Western Pony Soldier Inn were we stayed over night. Elmer's are known for there pancakes an come with there breakfasts. So i tried them with a omelet !! delirious!!! Great service an right next door to our lodging. Across street from a shell gas station for fueling rental car. We were set Fuel, food and Lodging. Next morning great breakfast at Best Western on ramp to airport right there. Great 1 ,2, 3 !!

Great place to eat, the food was excellant, prices good and a nice decor. Our server was efficient and helpful when making our food choices. We would definitely eat there again.

Went here several times and always found the staff very pleasant and helpful also the food seems to be consistently good.. The restaurant was clean with nice decor. Good and convenient for the hotel next door. Meal came in a reasonable time frame. Delicious :)

We stopped in for lunch on a very busy day and we were surprised with the fast and courteous service. While the place was full and very busy, the wait staff was courteous and very efficient in providing excellent service in providing us with a good lunch. The clam chowder was very good and the turkey sandwich I had with it was tasty. We got a fair amount of food for a reasonable price. We will definitely go back there again when we are in the area.

Met friends there to eat and transact some business. We were able to eat and get our business completed as the service was very helpful and the food was good. Not great but good.

Come early for this this is a busy well loved restaurant. It has a large parking lot that get fells up quickly in the mornings. It is a very friendly place with a large range of breakfast items. Service is quick and friendly. Have eaten here several times and always good food.

The restaurant was clean and well presented with nice posters/pictures throughout the restaurant and bathroom. We were almost the only people present for breakfast, almost empty. Nothing special was presented for the most part. We probably will not return. You can get this breakfast anyplace in town at the same price or better. I would surely not go out of my way to eat there.

A friend and I met here once again to have lunch, and rather than have a sandwich, I decided this time to have a breakfast entree, and it was GREAT! I had the "Daily's Smokehouse Bacon" breakfast that included two eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and I subbed out whole wheat toast for the buttermilk biscuit. Although it seemed a tad pricey, it was delicious and I enjoyed it immensely! Our server, Mali, did a great job, and she was kind, friendly, and efficient. We will no doubt be back, and I will probably order this item again! And what is funny/weird from the photo pictured for the restaurant as I am writing up this review, it shows our exact table where we sat!!

Prompt seating. Friendly, prompt, correct, and attentive service. Good coffee. A great selection of fresh fruit crepes and German pancakes. Over easy eggs were perfectly done. Good sausage. The experience should meet or exceed your normal expectations for a breakfast restaurant.

We stopped in this Elmer's for a light brunch, but ended up eating way too much. My daughter, who lives in Portland, told us "this is the cleanest Elmer's in Portland." The menu offers a bunch of breakfast/lunch/dinner items (think Denny's). We settled on a German pancake, a breakfast of eggs/biscuits&gravy/hash browns, and pancakes. Service was a bit slow (this was at 10 am so the morning rush should have been over and the lunch rush not yet started) but the food was worth the wait. Our only regret was that we were so full we had no room for dessert.

I had lunch here with a friend and I ordered my favorite, the breakfast that included the smokehouse bacon, two eggs, and hash browns along with toast. It was delicious and I love being able to have breakfast for lunch!! . Our server, Veronica, was the BEST!! She was friendly, very efficient, and super nice! Since it's such a good location for both of us to meet halfway, we will no doubt come here for again for our lunch!

Great selection, very tasty, big portions and affordable! Good service. Was very satisfied and highly recommend people to try it.

Had breakfast with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. It was very busy but our wait to be seated was reasonable. The server (wish I could remember her name) was very pleasant. Food came out quickly considering how busy they were and everyone seemed happy with it. Prices seemed a little high but than again they do almost everywhere. We are not really Elmer's fans but we were more than satisfied.

Don't worry if the parking lot is full. Elmer's attracts lots of repeat customers because they know how to handle a nearly-full restaurant efficiently and with friendly, timely service. The tables were full, but our food came as though we had the place to ourselves Good food, and a cut above the typical road house family restaurant.

My grandparents used to LOVE Elmer's - they always had a decent menu and good food and the wait staff was very attentive. Our most recent visit indicated very little of that has changed - it's a good "go to" place - dependable dining suitable for all ages & group sizes.

Really good service. We were there Sunday about 1:30pm and it was so loud inside it reminded me of a school cafeteria. That's why I'm giving it a 3 instead of a 4. That was the only downside to the experience. The seasonal strawberry poppy seed chicken salad was very good. My mom had a taco or southwest type salad and liked it, my dad had 'shrimp and chips' and said it was very good.

I had the pleasure of having a early dinner with my elderly parents. It has been almost 15-20 years since all of us has eaten there. Both visits, the service was great! Not overly crowded but steady customers. The fish and chips was tasty, fresh, and seasoned well! Not oily at all! Crispy bite, firm, moist cod. Our server was attentive, but not overly solicitous. The bowl of fresh fruit with added strawberries rounded off the meal! She even brought a cup of whoo cream for the strawberries. If I had a complaint it would be the esthetics of decor. I don't think this establishment has seen an update of color, paint, carpeting, or tile work. Many of their small seating tables are too close to others. The bathroom is one area that is in dire need of being redone. The facility tile work is run down and broken at places, the flooring was dirty and you could tell it had not been clean or mopped in weeks, if not months. The actual toilets need to be replaced, updated and modernized. Hands-free flushing! I wasn't granted any permission to see their kitchen, LOL, but I sure hope it's more updated, cleaned and sanitized.

We dropped our car off for a windshield replacement and decided to grab some breakfast at Elmerâs nearby. We were seated immediately in a nice, quiet booth and our drink orders were taken and filled quickly by our server, Stefanie, who then took our orders. My husband was intrigued by the German pancake described by the menu as being âas big as Crater Lake!â and was convinced he HAD to try it! It came with fruit as an option on the pancake, eggs cooked his way and choice of ham, apple/chicken/pork sausage, or bacon. The German Pancake was a work of art! One simply wanted to gaze at it to appreciate itâs artistic shape, the rustic ruffled edges sprinkled with powdered sugar, and the crepe-like folds of the interior resembling the gathers of a classy ball gown twirling around the plate in a sexy food dance all itâs own! The butter, syrup, and lemon wedges are musical ecoutrements that get your feet moving to the beat of this wonderful dish. Who wouldnât love the symphony this dish serves? I ordered the buttermilk pancakes, bacon and poached eggs, and a fresh fruit salad. The pancakes were big and fluffy, so I shared 2 with hubby, and also shared half of my bacon which was cooked perfectly to my request (chewy not crispy). The eggs were large, tasty, fresh, and perfectly poached! I like the whites firm but not watery and the yolks very runny, and these were on point! The fruit salad was fresh (nothing out of a can!) and plentiful. It was the best breakfast weâve had in months if not years! Our cooks, Anthony and Freddy, did an OUTSTANDING job preparing our meals, and our server, Stephanie, made sure we had the best dining experience possible! We canât wait to return and try the prime rib dinner and steak! This place rocks!!!!

Came here for lunch with a friend who works in the area, and found the sandwich I ordered to be good, but maybe a little on the expensive side for what I got. The staff were great, and I would definitely return here as it is easy to get to for lunch!

Went here for Sunday lunch, our table had chicken fried steak and fish and chips. Food was okay, fish and chips were tiny. Restaurant was noisy and not the place for quiet conversation, but hey, it's a diner. I was neither wowed nor disappointed, just okay.

I've been coming every time I'm in Portland for breakfast for almost 30 years, their omelets are hearty and well prepared, good pancakes, they make pretty decent Eggs Benedict, good coffee. The portions are huge and you are never disappointed. What prompted me to write the review was the excellent service I received from the ladies that worked there. They spoke Spanish as well and were extremely courteous and efficient. I'll be going back.

Our server was awesome, she worked with us and gave us extra time. She also gave us our drinks promptly whenever we needed them.

Cheap but good food and fine service, with free WiFi. Much better than the golden arches. This would be a good place for lunch or breakfast.

If you like large meals this is your place. We eat off the senior menu and split the entre. The point of a senior and childs menu is reduced portions and healthy choices not understood here. coffee was good but not as hot as i like it basically a pricey chain. like a cracker barrel but not as cheap

Good hot food (dinner) Chicken Bacon sandwich and the Bacon Cheeseburger, helpful and friendly staff at a reasonable price.

Stopped in for breakfast, appeared crowed but was seated quickly and ordered right away. For the large crowd inside the meal was brought out quickly and everything was hot and as ordered. All the staff was friendly and attentive refilling coffee & water before needing to ask. Enjoyable meal.

One of us had the crepes and the other had the Willamette omelet and hash browns. There were no complaints from either side of the table except the coffee was too strong for the Mrs. The servings were large and neatly presented. The service time was reasonable and the server friendly and attentive. The crepes were fluffy and excellent with a nice strawberry compote, and the bacon local and lean and perfectly cooked. My omelet was superb in fluffiness, content, and sauce. A biscuit came with it that rivaled the best weâve had at Bobâs Red Mill in Milwaukie, which for us is the biscuit high bar. A bit of my partnerâs strawberry compote found its way onto my biscuit, where it competently languished for only the briefest interlude. I can recommend that sojourn should the crepe owner accede tomsuch a sacrifice. That all said, the pricing seemed a smidge high. But we older folk still recall $4 breakfasts from a decade or two back, and Dennyâs $4.99 specials of not so long ago. Elmerâs is no Dennyâs, however, and you pay for quantity and quality. Not to downgrade Dennyâs, as on occasion we will eat there and understand what we pay for. But itâs been decades since we ate at Elmerâs and we knew it would cost. We just thought weâd try it again since we were right across the street after an errand.

Good location, large selection on the menu, food was delicious but service was slow and not order not accurate. Would go back for a second chance.

The three of us stopped in for a late breakfast The two ladies had the french toast and they loved it - portion was huge I had the ham and cheese omelette with pancakes The food was good but the food came out slowly

Had a quick business lunch here before heading back to LA. Menu selection was good for a light meal while conducting business. Had a half turkey sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. The atmosphere was conducive to easily hearing the other members of the party. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Easy access from the 205 freeway.

I have been eating at this Elmer's for more than 10 years -- whenever I visit Portland. It is a part of the Elmer's chain which I think of as an upscale IHOP -- except it is more than that. But they offer the best breakfast menu, outstanding service and a very comfortable venue. Parking is ample. In my mind, it is the old reliable. I have eaten breakfast here often with friends and always found the food to be very good, the service reliably good, and the location just great. We have had family meals with more than 15 people and I have eaten here by myself. The restuarant was fine for all types of occasions. I would recommend a special dish, but there are just too many. I am particularly fond of the three-berry french toast and Elmer's excellent selection of omelets.

If you like German pancakes, go here!! A must order idem! Order German pancakes!! Don't use syrup use only powdered sugar and lemon juice, you won't regret it!

Nice restaurant with plenty of meal choices, including breakfast, lunch and diner meals. Kind service staff and good quality food!

Went with a farmers Omelet which had 3 different types of meats and 3 different types of veggies- it was good but my main complaint would be I felt it was very lacking on the meats in the Omelet and thus I wasn't to impressed with it and was disappointed with that part of the meal The OJ I had was pretty good, and I liked the hashbrowns it came with. Willamette valley Omelet with Pancakes and ate all of her food, so I assumed she liked it lol. Overall, if the Omelet I had had more meat in it, I would give this place more stars- thats the main reason only given this location 3 stars.

Very nice restraint. The service was great it was very clean. Our dinner was very good and hot. they checked on us several times. The bill was good for the size of dinner you get.

I meet an old friend here the other day for lunch. I arrived from downtown Portland on a bus and it was right across the street from my bus stop near Mall 205. My friend drove, got a parking space right in front. When we walked in at 12:20 pm the place was fairly busy; no one was waiting for a seat. The hostess was very personable (not like a robot, not stressed) and let us choose a table in the adjacent dining area. We sat down and given menus. Then, moments later drinks were inquired about; asked if we knew what we wanted. Then the waiter came over and introduced himself but we weren't ready to order so he said he "take your time, I'll be back." When he came back, he introduced us to the young woman waitress with whom he was training, she took our order without delay or complication. Our drinks arrived in about 4 mins. and our food arrived in about 8-10 mins. My buddy had the fish & chips and it looked and smelt great; I was envious of him as I am on a diet and it took me a while to ascertain what I could order from a caloric standpoint (the calorie counts for each dish is on their menu). My 1/2 turkey sandwich was fresh and flavorful and my salad with ranch on the side was all that I could have hoped for given my situation. My food was very good so in the end I was satisfied not having the fish and chips. This place knows how to conduct themselves at busy times, they don't get out of breath straining to keep up, they stay focus on you and provide attentive, personable service.

Elmer's has a great selection and whatever you order will be good. The service is also very friendly. It is a little pricy for breakfast but chances are you may not eat again until dinner anyway.

This restaraunt was amazing. Good food, great atmosphere, employees were awesome. Will defenitly go back!

Always a hit for breakfast on the road. I had the Farmer's Omelet (Hickory smoked ham, daily's smokehouse bacon, zenner's country pork sausage, onions, red and green peppers, swiss cheese and potatoes. Topped with creamy country gravy.) Good comfort food to begin the day as we traveled toward Grants Pass. Found the service to be quick and frequent - kept my coffee cup full.

Stopped after work to have breakfast. I was seated at a table next to the fire place. there were plenty of volcano photos here. all of Mt. St. Helens. I Ordered coffee and the classic Buttermilk pancakes. There were four pancakes with maple sirup. my coffee was frequently refilled. Service was good and the pancakes weer a nice treat after having worked the night. After my meal I strolled into the lounge and had a coors lite while I played a few games of video poker to relax before heading home to go to bed.

Good breakfast menu, well-prepared meals, friendly and responsive staff, pleasant dining atmosphere; it's hard to ask for more. One noticeable thing on the breakfast menu is that buttermilk biscuits are the standard accompaniment instead of toast, though one can request white, wheat, or sourdough toast if one desires. The biscuits are enjoyable and the portions are good. Parking is easy (accessible from either Stark or Washington) and it's not too crowded on the weekday mornings.

Good selection from the menu, friendly staff and a reasonable range of beers and wine. My only negative - it always seems a bit dark, possibly y=the lighting needs a tweak.

We found Elmer's to be a good spot for a family dinner on our trip to Portland. It's right across the street from the Ramada Inn and part of the Mall 205.

The place is a Pacific Northwest chain--with local ingredients and food. I went for breakfast, and it was definitely a step above Denny's. The place is huge, they open early, and the staff is always super nice & friendly. Their menu is pretty expansive - they have some neat options that are pretty unique (like the German pancake). They can accommodate large groups.

This was an easy walk from our hotel and we were glad we ate here. Food is pretty straight forward, not fancy but everything was very good. The service was great, very attentive and friendly. If we lived in Portland, we would eat here any time we wanted a comfort meal.

Excvellent service, friendly servers. Many breakfast options. The German pancake is superb! served piping hot with butter and real maple syrup! Comes ala carte or as a complete meal with eggs and meat. Fruit syrup available also! I recommend the marion berry!

We were visiting and were not expecting much - but WOW - the SERVICE was Exceptional ! They were attentive and just plain fantastic. The food was better than I expected. The roll that my sandwich was on was the best I ever had - seriously! I will go back there when I go back to Portland.

Our hosts took us here to experience their fav Portland breakfast place. Menu says Elmer's dates back to the '60's and now has over twenty locations in the Northwest. The menu is extensive with offerings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Kid's menu available. Must admit that it was my first experience with what is billed as the "Almost as big as Crater Lake" German Pancake. (And my heritage is 100% German!) So, of course, I had to order the German Pancake Combo: lemon wedges, whipped butter, and powdered sugar to add to your dinner dish size thin (think crepe-like) pancake. Fruit toppings are also available. This is accompanied by two eggs and breakfast meat. I guess I am not as German as I thought, since I am more a fluffy buttermilk pancake fan. The four of us enjoyed our breakfast. Service was great. Portions were large. Would like to return to try more of the menu items. A very good breakfast choice.

This is a hard core diner pleaser, hard to choose what you want because the menu has nothing but crowd pleasers and servers were top of the line. love this place

We had breakfast here this morning. I had the harvest pancakes and my mother had the garden omelette. The food was delicious and the restrooms were clean!

its a better choice the Dennies or regular chain dinner type restaurants. the service was quick and friendly and fast. great pancakes . i had the German sausage eggs hash browns .if you want good fast food breakfast good choice. priced good.

We had breakfast here while on spring break and had a not so great experience. Items didn't come out together and some were forgotten. Bad service all around. Oh well, that's a first for me at an Elmers.

We had a party of 16 for Sunday lunch so I called ahead to have the table reserved.. They were very accommodating and got the table ready quickly. The waitresses were excellent. The food was ......bland. I had the cod with rice and it did not have much taste at all. My grandchildren did seem to enjoy their Cub Cakes - pancakes in the shape of a bear.

The last time I was at an Elmer's Restaurant I was not impressed. However, we were visiting in Porrtland, Oregon last month and looking for a place to have a good breakfast. We have been very spoiled here in Sparks by the Sparks Coffee Shop, so we didn't really expect much from Elmer's. But it was close to where we were staying; and the parking lot was full early afternoon. We ended up eating breakfast there twice in less than a week for breakfast. Huge menu, great service, very good food, reasonably priced. I would recommend to anyone in the area to eat breakfast there. I would assume the other meals of the day would be good as well, but we just had breakfast.

Service was wonderful and efficient. Each tIme I come here for soup and sandwhich, dinner, lunch or brunch-the food is top notch. Medium priced. Value for the money. Will return again for sure. Always full when I leave.

I am trying to watch my weight and not eat large portions. Today I went with a bunch of girls for the first time here and I asked could they spit an omelet, and put the hollandaise sauce on the side for me and my friend, and no potatoes or biscuits just fruit?, There was no problem, it came just as we had asked for it. The waitress, waited patiently as we drank our coffee, ice tea and gabed. Refilling were no problem, until we decided to stop talking long enough to order. This with a nice attitude and with a smile on her face. I don't think if I was young would have been half as accommodating as she was. We will be back again, hope they can handle us again as nicely as we were treated today!!!!

My husband and I were in town for Christmas. We went here for breakfast on December 26. I have never had such great service. Our cups were never empty. Having multiple servers was great. It was very very busy as being right after Christmas. But all the servers were friendly and very helpful. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Hello. I was just wondering why this location has such a hard time properly cooking the hash browns. They are not prepared correctly and are by far the worst hash browns of all the Elmers location's. They used to be the very best hash browns you could get from anywhere not just Elmers. Now for some unknown reason they have become the absolute worst in this industry. And none of the management seem to be able to get the problem corrected. They throw away more then people eat because they just taste so bad and have an extremely unusual texture and don't look anything like the picture in there menu. Not sure who is cooking these hash browns but they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for putting this kind of crap onto someone's plate. You would have to be blind to not see there is clearly something wrong with the way they have been prepared. And the servers just bring them out to you anyway even though clearly there not done right. Also they have a slight vinegar taste to them. What happened to this location?

I used to frequent Elmer's with my grandparents. They've now both passed & I wanted to remember them & kind of have breakfast with them again by coming here. I decided on the Oregon Marrionberry Cheese Blintz because it was 1 of 3 choices that Elmer's had with the caveat of a $1 donation to veterans. My grandpa was a veteran & my grandma liked marrionberries so it was a good choice. I was pleased to find out that Elmer's had changed just enough to offer chicken apple sausage as an alternative to pork, & that they offered wifi. I drank coffee with my meal. The 1st cup tasted burnt. When I finally decided I couldn't drink anymore of that cup, I asked if I could be annoying & get a fresh cup because it tasted burnt. My waitress brought a fresh cup without any problem. The fresh cup tasted better, but the coffee was just not the greatest. My blintzes arrived & they were good! The eggs were good. The chicken apple sausage was slightly undercooked. Of the 2 sausages, I was able to eat maybe a total of 1. What I was able to eat, I liked. I told the waitress & asked that she let the cooks know that the chicken apple sausage is being undercooked so they don't keep doing it; she said she'd let them know. All in all, I did enjoy my grandparents remembrance breakfast.

Stopped in with family for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. This isn't the best Elmer's we've been to, but pretty good still. We had some vegie scrambles and the bacon and eggs plate along with the combo plate that has eggs and 3 three meats. We all had their biscuits too that were good as well. The service was very good even though it was really busy. Most of us had the Tillamook potato pancakes made with cheddar cheese, green onions and bacon that were really good. I really like their bacon and others enjoyed the sausage and ham as well. You can get a 10% Veterans discount here, but just for the Veteran not the table.

We visited this restaurant with a group of people on the last day of our vacation. We should have shared meals as the portions were huge! Service was great, especially considering that we had over ten people in our group.

The food is served hot and excellent in flavor of sandwiches. The breakfast are great with variety of items. The blueberry pancakes have a lot of blueberries instead of syrup poured over the top. Pancakes are done all the way thru and great flavor. The service has always been excellent from the time you are met at the door as well your server is always making sure your coffee is filled and items always have come to the table hot. Great job to all the staff at Elmer's restaurant=Mall 205.

Met a friend here for breakfast, the special was strawberry blintzes. They were good as all food here is. This ia an old Portland establishment, now in other places too, the reason is good service, good food.

We had a pleasant visit and tasty meal once again at Elmer's. We had great service and it happened to be my birthday so I got free ice cream. We took a little time to enjoy the photos of Oregon displayed thoughout the restaurant and also thought the hanging baskets outside were spectacular!

Great food servers are wonderful but it always seems when my husband and I come in thereâs this heavy gentleman that is always yelling at a server it is very disturbing and makes me very angry I just cannot come back to Elmerâs at Mall 205 I donât understand how this man can get away with yelling at his employees he does not pull them aside he yells at them in front of customers how does this man get away with Verbally abusing his employees I donât understand it whoever owns the Elmers at Mall 205 really need to step up and get someone in there that doesnât verbally abuse their servers so with that said I will not be returning to Elmerâs at Mall 205 and I will find another one it must be better than the one at Mall 205 .

We found Elmer's Restaurant purley by accident, just driving down the street. Way to many great dishes to choose from, great food, great selection, great service.

Got in late to our hotel and had not had dinner. Elmer's chain was somewhat familiar and very close. As I said, late in the evening so they were not busy and sat us right a way. Good selection and prices for an economical meal. Portions are large. Chicken fried steak was good with a big pile of Yukon gold mashed potatoes and the salmon my wife enjoyed with steamed veggies. A lot of good American style food. Everyone was friendly and the service was fast.

When I went I walked up there was a line so I went into the lounge and sat at the bar. Man your girls can make a bloody Mary. I enjoyed the company from the gentleman next to me and received some resources from him regarding moving.

Was greeted by the hostess Caitlin with a big smile, then seated at a comfortable table. The atmosphere was pleasant and the employees seem happy, which makes for a good dining experience most anywhere in my opinion. The salmon dinner was delicious and affordable. Manager Mary was also very friendly and welcoming. I'll be back on my next visit to Portland.

I had the club sandwich and it was great. The service was fast and very friendly. The food was great!

Lovely breakfast with great service. The grounds are nice outside and the inside was extremely clean.

I happened on the best restaurant for breakfast that I've been to in many years! They have an extensive menu to choose from. I had the "Looking for Sun" omelet....killer! I actually had the two-egg version and that was generous along with hash browns and a homemade biscuit. I can't imagine what the normal three-egg version looks like! Veronica was my attentive/friendly waitress, and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and it was clean. I recommend when you're in the Portland area, go to Elmer's!

Lunch was on a chilly day so the fireplace in the dining room was a welcome sight. We were seated in the back near the restrooms but I didn't face them so wasn't all that concerned. Elmer's is a standard diner type place... a local chain. But sometimes you'll find surprises. I really enjoyed the Chicken Ranch salad. Even the smaller size was very ample. The chicken slices on top were crunchy as they were fried but all was delicious. Might be nice to have rolls with the salad.

We stop here when we are shopping in Portland. It is usually our stop on the way out of town. Service good, food is a good breakfast choice.

We started out for another restaurant for dinner, but when we got there the wait was longer than we cared for, so we ventured out for another choice. We came upon an Elmer's, which was a chain we had tried before, so we chose to eat there. After traveling for a couple of weeks, we were looking for a change, so we both ordered the prime rib dinner. I chose the yellow salad bowl and baked potato. My wife opted for the tomato Gorgonzola soup. The prime rib was very good and enjoyable. The salad was bountiful. The soup was quite tasty, according to my wife. A good meal, a little pricey, but not for what we chose this night.

this was our first time in this resto & our experience was very good like service was great, food was excellent, and it was clean. another advantage is that it's so close to ramada hotel and they serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. we will definitely go back to this resto.

We have been to other Elmer's for over 20 years, but this was our first visit to the one on SE Stark, near Mall 205. Location and parking are excellent. We had fresh strawberry crepes for lunch and were very pleased. The strawberries were sweet, not drowned in a syrup like too many places do. One of our group had a "small" Cobb salad, which was anything but small. Fish & Chips was made with excellent cod. The service, cleanliness and food were super, but there was so much noise coming from a group of 6 adults sitting behind us, we had a great deal of difficulty hearing the couple sitting across from us in a booth.

Elmer's was our go to place not only for breakfast daily, but also the occasional dinner when we didn't want to go exploring into Portland of an evening! The atmosphere was very comfortable and welcoming, despite being a large place, the way it was organized, made you feel you were in your own private mini-space! The hosts were totally attentive to their guests, whether it was seating them or helping with to go orders, or paying. Every meal was delish, the service staff was outstanding, and no matter when we arrived, it was like they were waiting for us and we were their only customers, despite being totally busy, every time we were there, morning, noon, or night! The servers were cheery and very personable; they gave us whatever we asked for, almost apologetically, as if they should have guessed what we wanted, before we knew! The quantity of food was sumptuous and prepared to perfection! Can we get an Elmer's here - we'd be 'regulars' in a flash!!??!!?? For a chain restaurant, they're top notch! I'd go to any of their stores and not be hesitant!

This is a chain restaurant and like most chains the food is good but not special . It was across the street from my hotel and I just wanted something for breakfast . It was clean , service was nice and the menu was very vast . If you have kids they will have something even for the picky eaters .

Elmer's still provides what it did 35 years ago - quality food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. It's not gourmet, but then that's not why one visits Elmer's. Nice place to take the family, great breakfasts, and (usually) pretty good service.

Elmers is a small regional chain of restaurants based in Portland. They have been around successfully for years. This one is franchised by the Dana family and is operated with a service level above the rest. Service is promo, friendly, and fast. Portions are large and well prepared. The menu has options for every diet. The noise level is a little high as the restaurant was full with families all enjoying Sunday morning breakfast.

We ate here on our last night in Portland. There were six of us and we finished a week long stay and moved closer to the airport. The food was surprisingly good and the service very attentive. We weren't disappointed.
Reliable place for breakfast
Good selection of breakfast items which can be tailored to your appetite and preferences (smaller portions, egg substitutes, etc.). Not gourmet but probably better than most folks cook for themselves.
