Cool place!

By Charles1019 |

First visit to this restaurant in downtown Seattle. Very cool place with excellent staff. They did an awesome job throughout our meal. We started off with some of their Soda Bread which is addictive. We also ordered their version of Deviled Eggs which were yummy! I had the Wedge Salad and a bowl of the Creamy Tomato soup. Loved the soup. Tasted great. My buddy had the 1/4 lb Capitol Hill Burger which he devoured. Awesome meal and excellent service.

Will Return. Great Burger!!!!!!

By FondyCheesehead |

I'm not a drinker, but my partner is so we trekked up from Pike Place market (I don't recommend walking - take the bus!) I was not expecting a great meal, I was very surprised. We sat at the bar. Bartender was very friendly, but NOT "too friendly." I had the MUSHROOM BURGER with fries (8oz. Kobe beef patty, sautéed mushrooms, Gruyere, red pepper aioli) for $11. It melted in mouth. The mushrooms were neither soggy nor raw. The fries were awesome as well. And considering Kobe beef - the price was amazing! My partner had the ELYSIAN BURGER with Bacon and fries (8oz. all natural Kobe beef patty, Daedalus grilled onions, choice of cheese, red pepper aioli, toasted kaiser) for $12. My root beer came with free refills, which the bartender topped before I had the chance to ask. Partner enjoyed two craft beers. If I ever get to Seattle area again, I WILL make time to visit again.

TERRIBLE FOOD BUT GREAT ATMOSPHERE

By arizcat |

The atmosphere was excellent. Great beer selection but the food was yuckie!!! Our steak was rubbery and french fries cold. It was a Friday night but still no excuse for our food being horrible.

Grrrrrreat beer- especially after one takes a chanting class at the yoga place down the street. Great pub food as well.

Better Food can be found elsewhere. Gritty

By Johnisupdariver |

Elysian has been around a long time. So long that they have turned into a gritty pub with average beer and poor food. True they are one of the oldest breweries on the hill but dang its gritty in there! There are tons of better choices for a beer and a burger on Capitol Hill in Seattle.

adequate food, excellent beer

By operalover939 |

We stopped here for lunch, intrigued by what we had heard about the beer. It lives up to its reputation: I had the extra bitter, my wife a pear-spiced beer. Both were excellent. The food is somewhat better than OK: I had eggplant parmesan; my wife had a tofu salad. We left well fed, but neither of the dishes matched the quality of the beer we drank.

Excellent Beer, nice vibe, but the food was horrifying.

By Peckhammer |

I had not been to Elysian for a few years, so when I was in the area and looking for lunch, this brew pub seemed like a decent choice. The beer has always been good, and I was sure there would be something tasty on the menu. The immortal IPA was as good as I had remembered. The food I ordered was not. I chose the lunch special -- a $14 shredded pork taco plate with rice and beans. The shredded pork, had the texture of puréed meat food that had been squeezed out of a toothpaste tube. The sides of rice and beens were on par with what you might expect from a government food program. I was in absolute disbelief at how lousy this meal was, and the $14 price was adding insult to injury. The server never once asked me about the meal. I suspect she knew what my answer would have been: Horrifying! I may return for a beer one day, but I will never, ever order food again.

Great beer, great atmosphere

By Triperoo |

Elysian was one of many brew pub stops during a recent vacation to Seattle. The floor space is huge and both times we went, never had to wait for a table. The beer and atmosphere were both excellent. The chopped salad is a must have! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to meet friends, watch the game or enjoy a craft beer.

Good beer is not enough reason

By Alec M |

I like my NW craft ales so when in Seattle thought I would give Elysian a try. I got the last of a small batch of Split Personality which was quite good. But you can find really good beer lots of places. The ambience of Elysian is dated. The seat in the booth was uncomfortable. And the food was lacking in presentation and taste. So go get your brews elsewhere and have a more comfortable setting and food worth consuming.

Liked it, would go back for the lamb burger!

By JoJo123go |

It wasn't "amazing" but we did really like it. The beers we tried were very good and the staff were friendly and professional. The lamb burger was really tasty, the beef burger was good and they were flexible with add-ons, the fries were fine, just the salad was unimaginative and a bit drowned by dressing. The only thing was the atmosphere - its more like a restaurant than a pub, and just a bit big and empty feeling despite being almost full.

Elysian Fields is right near the stadiums!

By orange-u-tall |

Elysian Brewing has three locations, and one is right near Safeco and Century Link. Heading down to the Mariners game, our hope was to find something on the way to the stadium. Elysian did the job in a big way! First, they had quality pub food (Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie, etc), and they delivered timely, prompt service. We had about 45 minutes to eat, and they made it happen. My only negative was that they were out of a milk stout that I wanted to try, but Elysian makes plenty of quality beers, so that is a minor gripe. It was a victory to find something unique and local right near the Stadium, since there is not a whole lot down there in my opinion.

GREAT beers

By MindykaySL |

My husband and I really enjoyed stopping in here for a pre-dinner drink. My husband loves IPAs and was really happy with the flight that he tried. Not liking as much hoppy beers personally, there were still a few that I enjoyed. Good environment, nice bartenders and staff. We also met their head brewer who was really great- we chatted with him for a little bit. Would go back for a beer if we were in the area again.

Great atmosphere - great food!

By MinnesotaPatty |

So, who goes to a brew pub and doesn't sample the brew? Sorry - two people in our party of 6 had some great dark stout, but the rest of us came for the food! The steak tacos (gluten free - served with corn tortillas) were awesome - a great mix of flavors; their french dip is wonderful, the burgers are HUGE and really tasty - it's a great place for some great food.

Great Beer!

By lajb |

Came here because I'm a fan of Elysian beers. Tried two on tap that they do not sell in stores and loved them both. We tried the Poutine on the food menu. It sounded gross and looked even worse, but was soooo good!

Good beer, fine food

By Maria P |

Great beer so must try some of their specials, although cocktails are really good and fresh as well. Food is ok, would recommend burger and fish tacos!

mediocre

By ceceim88 |

Overall this place is mediocre. I don’t drink, however, I heard from my cousins that it was really good. Their chicken wings are really amazing and the nachos, well there okay. You can find better nachos at Rancho Bravo for a way cheaper price. This place gets jam-packed on the weekend so perhaps making a reservation would be very beneficial. Overall, the food is just any standard traditional American food. You can find this type of food anywhere on Capitol Hill or downtown Seattle. If you like a good beer then, the Elysian is the place to be.

Good Food Good Beer

Both the Food and Beer are great at the Elysian Brewery. Its great to go to after watching a game and you'll enjoy almost all the beer on tap

Delicious beer!

By Chiovitti |

A friend of mine was showing me around the city and we stopped in for a flight. We ended up staying for several hours and trying most of the beers. Something for everyone. The atmosphere and staff were fantastic, and would definitely go back.

Great assortment of handcrafted beer!

By Mountainlizzie |

Huge property near football stadium - I'm sure on game days it is packed! Great selection of beers on tap + full bar and food. We stopped here for some afternoon refreshments and were not disappointed. A plate of mussels to share, some great beers and attentive staff!

Superb experience. Love the beer

By Anirudh K |

Really hope all breweries follow their standards, example excellent food and any of their Beer. Congrats guys..keep up the good work.

Great beer and food.

By Earl C |

Sometimes I travel with my wife for business. When I do, I like to try the different beer from the area especially ones that I can't get back home. Last summer, I discovered Elysian and now I always go there after a nice walk around Seattle. The beer is always cold and I can usually find something that I have not had before. Great place to visit for a quick drink and/or snack.

Great brews and good pub food.

Typical brewpub with typical brewpub food

By dinkle50 |

I stopped in here for dinner on a Wednesday night around 9pm. It was about half full and I easily got a table. Service was great, waitress was very friendly. Had a beer and a burger. Burger was just fine. Nothing special. The menu focused on typical brewpub food, but I'm sure about anybody could find something to eat here. Decor was typical of most brewpubs, industrial, brewery-like.

Great beer, good atmosphere and an enjoyable menu. Veg. friendly.

By Karen H |

We had dinner at the Captiol Hill location on a Saturday night. We were able to get a table right away. The place was big, but the lighting was great. Of course, the beer selection was outstanding. The sampler a good mix of seasonal and staple brews. The food was good and the menu vegetarian friendly. Our server was a doll.

Very Good Hamburger, Beer

By Anaco_Angler |

My buddy and I stopped in at Elysian Fields before a recent Mariners game because our favorite food truck was gone. We each had a cheeseburger and a beer and both agreed it was one of the juiciest, most flavorful burgers we had enjoyed in a long time. And the fries were good too. Elysian has a long list of beers on tap and it's easy to find something to like. We even had a small tasting sample before deciding on our choice. Service was quick and friendly, something to be appreciated during the very busy pre-game rush. We'll definitely be back, especially if our food truck doesn't return.

Reliably Terrific

By Carol R |

In mid December I was in Seattle for a friend's PhD defense and, because he's a self-described "beer snob" we ate dinner here. I thought that as a vegetarian who doesn't drink alcohol I would be there just as a favor to him, but was I ever wrong. They have the best black bean burgers I've ever eaten and everything else vegetarian on the menu is superb! I found this out when I came back to Seattle for business in January and hurried back. The Caesar salad with Mama Lil's peppers deserves special mention. A warm, dry pleasant place with a happy atmosphere, great service, and really exceptional food. (I hear the beer can't be beat either.)

Got food poisoning

By Love22saywa |

That pretty much says it all. Don't order the grilled polenta dish, which destroyed me for nearly 20 hours in a classic dirty food symptoms. I should have sent it back when it showed up late and cool, but I was hungry.

Great Beer - OK Service

By Ben H |

Stopped here for lunch and beer before heading to the airport. The beer was great. The food was okay as well. The service was mediocre. Our server was very nice and got us everything we asked for, but the service was just slow. The place was pretty empty so I'm not sure why it took so long to be served. I would return for the beer though!

Delicious dinner

Food was delicious. Beer was flavorful and options plentiful. My Manhattan was tasty. The meal was delicious. The tacos al pastor were tender, spicy and spiked with pineapple bits.

Okay food, could be better!

By Deadcooky |

I came here with friends and found myself freezing. Service was good (our waitress was rally nice and had some great recommendations), the food was okay (I had a cheeseburger with fries), my company enjoyed their beer. So far so good, but not the right place for me I have to admit. The design didn't catch my eye, for me it was too bright, too open, too cold, too anonymous and meaningless... so not comfy enough for me to be willing to stay longer than necessary.

Food blah, beer acceptable

By Amy A |

The beer was tasty and I really loved the pumpkin varieties that were available. The food... Quite simply was "blah." The chicken dijon sat like a rock in my stomach and the steak tacos were nothing special.

Good food and great selection of beer

By 8837Mom |

We arrived early Saturday evening and had no problem finding a free parking spot just a block and a half west of the pub. Since Capitol Hill is a difficult area for parking, it was definitely a pleasant surprise. As advertised, there was a fantastic selection of beer on tap and the decor befitting of a brew pub. I am not a beer drinker but my husband enjoyed trying a couple of the brews. I found the wide variety of food quite intriguing. We ended up with a lamb burger served on pita bread, and a curry schnitzel. Both entree were reasonably priced, quite tasty and came in generous servicing sizes. We shared an equally generous portion of fried sweet potatoes with another couple. All in all, we spent less than $45 per couple and left quite happy with our evening out.

could have been better

By dalm0m |

Fewer beer choices than we expected & very uninspired wine list with extremely limited choices. Usually high end breweries have something for the wine lovers. The huge windows were awesome. The unusual menu was wonderful. The décor is too industrial for my taste but it fit the space. Everyone in our foursome liked their meals. My black bean cakes were swimming in some sort of broth which made them soggy & ruined the effect. I ate very fast to avoid having gruel for dinner.

Good beer

By J-Galah |

We just dropped in for a few relaxed drinks before dinner. The beer selection was good, and the descriptions were accurate. Staff were friendly.

Good local beers

A decent place to enjoy a beer - the staff are friendly and the beers enjoyable. Would recommend going for a flight to sample a few different beers.

Good food but very slow service

By Cmiranda70 |

We went here for dinner in June after my niece's grad. The food was good but the service was extremely slow. The place was not busy so I'm not sure why it took so long. I'm talking about a 45 min to 1 hour wait after they took our order. The waitress was nice but never apologized for the wait or told us why so long. It was 8 of us but 2 were sharing a salad and one was having poutine only. It kind of ruined the experience for all of us. Don't think I would be back since I don't drink beer so it's not worth my time.

Good bear, mediocre food, uncomfortable dining room

By Brian J |

I'm somewhat of a beer connoisseur and have enjoyed quite a few Elysian beers over the years. We were meeting up with some out of town friends and thought we'd grab a drink and dinner at their flagship 'Public House' in Capitol Hill. As soon as we walked in I was already regretting our decision. It was a particularly hot August afternoon and the place was sweltering hot. There were a few fans making no real difference and it was just very uncomfortable. I could only imagine how hot all the hipsters in beards and long sleeve plaid shirts must've been. We were sat and I was parched and eagerly looking forward to getting a pint of my favorite Elysian beer, their "Superfuzz" citrus IPA. I had even looked on the website earlier to see what they had on tap. Unfortuantely I found out they didn't have it on tap that day. I guess I could've gotten it from the 'cask' - i.e. hot - but that's it. Man, what a huge disappointment that was. They still have a pretty large selection of beers but I really went in there with my heart set on my one and only favorite. I went with some kind of lager which was fine, nothing particularly memorable but it did help beat the heat a bit. The menu is pretty standard bar style fare headlined by burgers and the like. I had been craving nachos so decided to give that a shot as some of my favorite nachos in the past had come from breweries. Bad decision. Do yourself a favor and DON'T get the nachos. They were incredibly lame. Chips poured out of bag, covered in a white cheese with a few black olives and some really large chunks of red onion. It came with a side of qucamole which was ok, pretty average like you'd buy at the store. The biggest offendor though was the stuff they claim to be 'salsa.' I have no idea what that was. I think it had maybe a tiny bit of actual tomato in it but the consistency was horrible (it was a thick paste) and one of them had peanuts mixed into it. It was very strange, definitely not salsa and frankly pretty gross. Needless to say I was disappointed. Our kids liked their meal well enough, they got grilled cheese sandwiches. Our friends had burgers which they said were fine. I'd consider stopping in for a drink (if they actually have the beer I like on tap) but we definitely won't be coming back here for a meal again.

Cool Hangout

By dukerussel |

The EBC has a great vibe with quality music sound tracking the beer. The beer I had was god but not to my taste. I'm not holding that against the establishment because it was a great spot to enjoy a pint.

The Beer was worth it. The service was fine; the food was nothing exceptional but the servings were generous and the prices were fair. Go for the beer or go home!

Brewery right in the heart of Capitol Hill

By WaywardWander9 |

We love craft breweries so had to check out the Elysian Brewery while in Seattle. Cool vibe to the interior and lots of seating. We just sat at the side bar area since we were only having drinks. They have several different styles of beer including a sour and IPAs, Pilsners, etc. that you would expect a good brewery to have. The beers were good and cold, service was fast and brewery had a good vibe. I would check it out again when in Seattle.

Great Pumpkin ale

By Steve B |

Before we visited Seattle we looked for a local micro-brewery that did a pumpkin ale. The Elysian Brewing company came back from our searches so we made a bee-line to a local bar. They have a selection of their own beers (and others) and the pumpkin ale was great. We didn't eat here and visited in the day. The bar was well presented and staff friendly and we relaxed after several hours walking round Seattle. They do food and have a mezzanine level with tables. I would image that this is a popular bar in the evenings.

Oddly Appealing

By thetisqueen |

In my head I can hear Mick Jagger: "Sha-loo-pay, sha-ter, don't mind the maggots," as he is singing about - not this city - but still! I am reminded of the song as I wander the greasy urban streets including Pike, Pine and 13th in Seattle's Capitol Hill.  It's okay.  I like sha-loo-pay. The song in my head is nothing derogatory, just strange and transitional, like the neighborhood, with its clean and brightly decorated preppie-yuppie boutiques offering candy-paint coated garden gnomes and yellow plastic armchairs for hundreds or thousands of dollars right next to the gritty tattoo parlors situated in below street level basements, their windows ungarnished, allowing direct views of body art installations as they happen.  What strange and wonderful differences all around! That said, a venture to the Elysian is likewise a similar experience.  Walk past the sliver-seated neon green bicycle and the purple duct-taped stroller parked at the rack outside the front entrance and come into this other world.  Yes.  It is a world where a Mohawk-haired woman can wrap a polka dot tie into a precious bow around her neck (in order to hide adhesive irritation from a brand new tattoo lurking under that hand knit sweater) and sit next to an old battered hen whose proclivity toward the mundane doesn't bother anyone in the least. It is Come As You Are at the Elysian, and come get some beer!  With a bazillion choices from ales to porters to special seasonal creations, the original location for this Seattle brew pub is where it's at.  Service regarding adult beverages can be excellent...but don't expect a rush on the food...food which is okay, but not up to the usual high standards of many Seattle eateries.  And that's all right, because really you'd come here for the brewskis and babbling, to meet friends, to make new ones, and to watch the people and the city in transformation.  Enjoy!

Went for a brew and a nosh to celebrate finishing a big project with a new friend

By M_A_Iverson |

We chose Elysian becaise we were half a block away. Atmosphere was welcoming, experience lovely, food excellent, brews fine. For teatotalers I highly praise the ginger beer, as recommended by a knowledgeable and friendly waiter. We were worn and parched when we began, and happy as can be as we departed. In between, beyond the beverages, we munched on wings, and grilled corn good enough to bring tears of joy to our eyes. Seriously. If they offer it, and unless ingesting corn will send you to the ER, give it a try. You won't regret it.

Friendly and fast service!

By Didi |

We were greeted promptly and seated right away which is always nice. Our waitress was really knowledgeable about the beers on tap as well as the food. She checked back frequently and was very personable. Made us all feel really comfortable. Food was great. I had the steak sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was really tasty. Great choice of IPA's and porter brews. Will definitely be back!

Great beer, delicious food

By jkleha |

Stopped in for a bite and was pleasantly surprised. The historic building is very cool and the beers were nothing short of outstandingly fresh. We only had burgers but they were well portioned and nicely seasoned. Service was good, not awesome, but the experience is one I would definitely go back for.

Lunch and music!

By Krisinseattle |

Visited the Elysian in Tangletown (2106 N 55th in Seattle) and enjoyed a small trio playing jazz while dining! Other than the fact that the place needed a few more servers, it was a nice, albeit slow, dining experience. We had the BAAT (bacon, avocado sandwich) and the Southwest Chicken salad. Opted to pass on the multitudes of beer possibilities (flights looked like fun) due to the early hour. Without alcohol, tab came to around $26 before tax & tip.

Went for the beer . . .

By hksjza70 |

Can't comment on the food, but served as a great beer stop for a good variety of elysian stuff that I can only usually get in the bottle.

Fun Place, Excellent Food.

By wimisy |

Never been disappointed in the food. With seating in excess of 400 people, it's built to handle crowds so the noise level can go up during busy times like lunch or during games. The service has always been excellent, whether I am with a large party or a smaller group. I have ordered their Steak Salad several times and never been disappointed. One my last visit I had the steamed manila clams and the chopped salad. Both items had generous portions and I should have ordered only one or split them. I loved the clams but for me the bacon in the sauce was a bit overpowering. Bacon lovers would rejoice!

Bad service

By YearoftheRabbit |

No samplers on game day. I am not sure why. The beer is very good and a good location as well. Prices are reasonable. The service is not very helpful.

We went here for lunch and beer tastings. The food was average bar food. We tried wings and the chili cheese fries. They have flights to try all the different beers. I had the pomegranate cooler and it was delicious.

Wonderful food and great people watching

By Rhonda M |

I headed here with a friend for dinner and was very happy with the entire evening. Our server was pretty wonderful and the food was terrific! We split burgers with him having the salmon bacon burger and me having the cheeseburger. The salads were lovely but would have benefited from having more than mixed greens and dressing (think sweet cherry tomatoes). It's also worth mentioning that many of the very amply spaced booths are right up against the row of windows, giving a great front row seat to the happenings right outside. Not everything was perfect, but it was still a wonderful night. I'll happily return for the great service, comfortable seating, ambiance, and very reasonable prices.

Great spot to hang out

By dan j |

We visited off a cruise ship and tried some of the samplers. Our friends with us love their beer, we tried the truffle Mac & Cheese, very good. We always tried the truffle fries which were tasty as well.

Manager is a piece of work

By kellyshoe13 |

We came here for a beer before a Seahawks game. The manager on duty that night was incredibly rude and gave off the feeling of a genuine d-bag. We had planned to stay for a few, but finished our first ones, closed our tab and left. The restaurant was empty, the bar not much better. They need to take some lessons from the bars and restaurants around them, every other one was jam packed (like they were before the game started!) They have prime real estate, it's a shame.

Pumpkin Beer!

We were too late to get tickets for the event for the pumpkin beer so we went around lunch time and got lots of pumpkin beer and tasters of the others and everything was great...including the service!

Great food and beer in a quaint Seattle neighborhood

By cocoreigh |

We stayed in Wallingford/Tangletown over Labor Day weekend. We didn't have dinner plans and took a walk through Tangletown to see what our options were. Elysian was an easy decision for us. Open doors, a vibrant patio, good food and a fantastic beer selection? We were hooked. Seating - We didn't have to wait for a table when we arrived (and we didn't have a reservation, either). We asked to sit on the patio and they had a two-person table available for us. The patio was inviting and the weather was warm. Food - We ordered the mussels, artichoke and spinach dip and two orders of fish and chips. The mussels tasted a little off, so we ordered spinach and artichoke dip. The spinach and artichoke dip was easily the best we've had. And the fish and chips? A must order item on the menu. Beer - You can't not get an Elysian beer here. They're amazing. Try as many as you can. Atmosphere - The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and open. Everyone was nice and seemed to be having a nice time. Service - Our waitress was amazing. She brought us everything we needed, recommended great beer options for us and gave us some feedback on must-see places in Seattle (we were visiting from out of town). Overall, great brewery and restaurant in the Wallingford/Tangletown neighborhood.

Great Beer Choices

By Joe M |

Great food and beer choices...atmosphere is really cool and casual. Pub fries were awesome! Tried several flights of beer including the IPA flight. Awesome spicy pepper beer...a must try. Seattle has a thousand coffee shops and micro breweries but this one you need to try!

Good beer, great atmosphere

By Rob N |

Perfect balance of scruffy and friendly. The bartenders knew all about the beers they were serving and even cracked some smiles. The brewer and the distributor were hanging around the bar and easilly accessible for some fun beer banter. Oh, and the beer was really good! We've had some of their bottled stuff before but it's nowhere neer as good as the taps. We got 2 sampler trays so we got to try everything they had. They're food was also pretty good and not very pricey. They're also veggie friendly so bonus points.

Nice Brewery

By Sandman030 |

We walked from downtown - a mistaken belief that the distance from 6th St to 12 St would be 6 blocks. It's farther and uphill - take a cab there. It was a nice walk back. No matter - it worked up a thirst and the beer was good, the food was good and the atmosphere pleasant. it was worth the effort and a good time. The prices are reasonable.

Great Beer and Food, Perfect Location

By SBSCalifornia |

Just returned from visiting my best friend in Seattle. I am newly into the beer scene, and she had been to Elysian Brewing several times and thought I would like it. And I loved it! It is easily accessible, right off Madison and on major bus lines. Parking is on the street and is touch and go; but so is much of Seattle! Inside, it really is a classy place. Spacious, wood tables, lots of windows with great views. The service was prompt and friendly - Our server was Kelsie, who was delightful and so helpful. We went for lunch on a Saturday, and while it was busy and nearly full, it was not overwhelmingly noisy and music was the perfect level, I liked that there were people of all ages there, including children. The food? Awesome! We ordered 2 appetizers, which were enough for a whole meal. So beware: if you just want a nibble, share one appetizer. We had the nachos for $10, which arrived at the table piping hot and crispy, and served with sides of sour cream, salsa (hot but not too hot), and a really delicious peanut arbol chili sauce. I liked that they were served on the side, so they did not saturate the nachos. We also shared the Black Bean Cakes, also $10, and vegetarian. It had 3 very large and moist black bean cakes, served on a bed of mixed greens and lots of peppery arugula, slices of jicama, topped with delicious guacamole, then drizzled with a sweet corn vinaigrette. Yum! Such an unusual mix of flavors but really delicious. We actually ended up bringing half of our food home to eat later. The best part? The beer, of course. We had been to another brew pub a few days earlier, which was a bit more rustic, loud, and catered to a younger crowd. Elysian? Classy and very upscale. We had a beer sampler, which contained 4 oz samples of their standard beers. We got 5 samples for about $8. They were all different and all excellent. My favorites were the Avatar (a Jasmine IPA - the aroma and taste of jasmine were sublime and delicate), the Perseus (a dark, chocolaty, smooth porter), and a limited run of their Superfuzz, a Blood Orange Pale. Whoa - was this ever excellent! Really unusual and fabulous. The only drawback? I have fallen in love with Elysian beer! However, I live in California, and Elysian does not distribute their beer here! I can see I am going to have to visit my friend more often! All in all, really great location, friendly staff and lovely locale, fabulous food and beer. Be sure to visit if you are in Seattle.

Elysian brewing on 2nd ave

Only in Seattle for one night. Went for a walk from out hotel and found this bar and restaurant. I suspect it is new. The food was great, extensive beer list, ok wine and cocktail list. Draw back was that I am not sure the the waiting staff have any experience in how to engage with there customers. We had a lovely night, but please improve your waiting staff so that they match the quality if your food and drink.

Great beer and food!

By Jonathan H |

This was always on my itinerary for our short stay in Seattle. An uphill walk from downtown but well worth it, I tried the IPA on the recommendation of our hotel receptionist and it didn't disappoint. I was initially wary about the beer as a friend had told me that beer in the US is served too cold, and although the three beers I tried were colder than UK real ale they were excellent anyway. We had the sharing platter for ten bucks, the Greek style hummus, pitta, baba ganoush etc and it was really good value and very tasty. I really liked the inside of the building with the brewing equipment, quite different from English pubs but I'm a fan! I especially liked not only the friendly, helpful service but also the fact that you get a pint of water which is regularly topped up, in stark contrast to the surly bewilderment if you dare ask for a pint of tap water in an English pub! Great place and we'll definitely come in for an extended session on our next trip to Seattle.

Really Good Happy Hour

By LillyBee |

We stayed in the Capitol Hill area and this place was walking distance from our condo. Great beer and great food for happy hour with decent portions for very cheap. Wings and hummus and burgers were delicious. We were there for a short time but sampled many beers which were all delicious and service was good. Definitely not a fancy place but just a cool atmosphere for everyone to come and relax.

Capital Hill Brew House

By Waltj-Seattle |

Stopped in for a quick bite and brew before heading to Husky game. I tried their Shepard Pie and it was delicious and good presentation. Also tried the shoe strings fries but the fries were just ok. Since they brew their own beer I wanted to try their specialties so I ordered a flight consisting of 5 selections. I also tried their Space Dust. If you like stronger and darker and hoppy beers they have a good selection for you. There is plenty of seating and they have TV,a spread throughout. Its on the east side of Capital Hill not far from Light Rail station so there is plenty of parking. I recommend trying a flight to experience the variety of beers they have on tap.

Great Poutine and Nachos

By AmyTrips27 |

Am I crazy, or is it okay that I like to go to good bars not for the beer, but for the great bar food? Well folks, Elysian didn't disappoint. You have to get their Poutine and Nachos!

Great brew pub (they brew their own) and eatery. Great place for a large group.

One of the best places in Seattle! Bartender was awesome and so friendly. Foods great, musics great, beers great. Come here. Cheers!!

Rude!!!!!!!!

By Tara H |

I wish I could give it a zero. I was looking for a location to host my Mom and step Dads anniversary before the Husky game. I called and asked if they could accommodate a large party. They said they are packed on game days which is understandable. I said we are willing to come very early but they still said it was a bad idea. My aunt called them as well and the guy on the phone laughed at her and said sarcastically, "good luck! But you have no chance. Go somewhere else." He was a total jerk. We went to Fado's which was perfect. We spent well over a grand there and tipped over 30%. Elysian is not the place to go. They are rude and obviously aren't interested in making money. Don't waste your time here!!!

Brew pub with good food.

Very good burger. Not a preformed patty but hand shape and full of flavor. More than I could eat. We came in for a late lunch so not much crowd and food came quickly.

Worthwhile Stop

By rwoehst |

Stopped in for lunch and beers. Very chill environment....could spend hours there hanging out. We had really nice service. Tried the corn cakes, the crab roll & the ginger beef soup. I loved the crab roll & would absolutely order again. It was nice to try several different beers as well.

we came back 3 times

By CRAPELLE |

Very nice food, in a brewery way of course, excellents chicken wings, a amazing choice of bier. Try the samplq tray and indulge yourself. Beside, the patrons and the waitresses are very picturesques lol.

Good selection of good beers and good food.

By jdoly |

Went here late afternoon before mass at St James Cathedral. Place was about 1/3 full, of people who all looked interesting and intelligent! Waitress knew her beers very well and was friendly, responsive and cute. There were 5 at or table, we all had different brews, I tasted them all and all were truly great. They had several winter seasonals. My wife and I each had a different one. I had a cask conditioned warmer and it was perfect for that cold damp December afternoon. The menu was creative and good and we all liked our meals. It's a great place!

Great place to try different beers. Friendly service and good open space. Nice decor to take pictures

Good beer, good food and great service.

By Colin R |

I very much enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was lively, and our waitress was excellent. I ate the soup - the bowl was tiny - I can't imagine the size of a cup! The soup was really good though.

Handled A Big Group Perfectly

By TrentsterGa |

My friends had talked this place up, so on a business trip my and over a dozen co-workers tried it out and were impressed. The food was savory and the drinks were very good. The service was great and I would highly recommend making this place a stop on your visit. Try the poutine and any of their burgers.

Good beer, good food, good service

By Ruth E |

A great selection of beer, which was our main reason for going here. We were also hungry so decided to have a bite to eat, and I have to say the burger was one of the best I have had (I am very particular about a good burger). Great service from our waitress, so all in all a good night. The place is definitely no frills, but if you want good honest food and drink without any fuss, you can't go wrong.

I'd move to Seattle just to go back!

By BEW64 |

This brew pub is awesome. First priority for a brewery is to make good beer. Check. Second priority if you are going to have a brew pub that offers dining is to serve good food. Check. And for a bonus you should have a unique setting that makes your customers comfortable. Check. Their IPA selections are AWESOME. They make some tasty stouts too. I also appreciate the fact that they are confident enough in their own product to offer some beers from different craft brewers. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. They served some of the best hummus I have had in a long time. If you like brew pubs, add this one to your bucket list!

Great complex beer

By rgrove004 |

Went for drinks and found beer to be much more complex and better than Pike's down the street. Cool spot and atmosphere. Much go if you like interesting yet delicious beer!

Normal brewpub with some good beer

By Mike191919 |

Elysian Brewing is well known in the Seattle Beer scene and definitely a most stop for the beer lover, those on brewery tours, and the like. I had tried many of the beers before stopping by so knew what to expect; if you have not had their beer, it is often top notch brews, Dragontooth Stout and Immortal IPA being two favorites. This is the original location and the brewery is visible from the "public house" portion, which as many times as a see it in brewpub after brewpub, is always a plus. Ultimately, though, if you are not here for the beer it will probably be an average experience as it is generally an average brewpub; comfortable, good conversation, etc.

Excellent beer / good atmosphere

By rs37064 |

We came here twice in one week--once for a beer while waiting for a table at the nearby Plum Bistro and then returned for a full meal. Our food was well prepared and the service was good. Although busy, we didn't feel we were rushed so someone else could have our table. Highly recommend!

OK food, except for the...

By Heather P |

OK food, except for the Steak Frites, which is out of this world...sometimes. Other times, it's cold or the meat is really tough. But when it's good, its REALLY good. And a nice beer selection. Can feel a bit fratty on a Saturday night, but still a good local pubby spot.

Love the beer flights!

By Shari505 |

Terrific, friendly atmosphere! Two different beer flights...try them both! Didn't have any food, but I'm assuming it must be good also. When you hae such a variety of beers, who needs food?!

Good neighborhood bar

By Celina H |

This is a nice neighborhood bar with good food and better beer. I had the Night Owl Pumpkin Ale which is absolutely amazing and a must have if its in season when you go. The only (minor) complaint we had was that service was a little slow if friendly.

Solid food, always new beers

By dan raphael |

Great location, lots of windows for people viewing. High end pub grub. Sig had the fish and chips, I had the pulled pork, both tasty and ample. As a beer freak who doesn't get to Seattle I much appreciate the variety of beers they offer. I had an experimental IPA, ansd the winter favorite Bifrost. Service super friendly.

MECCA for IPA lovers.

By Jim278 |

Whenever my business takes me to Seattle, I know I will make a visit to the Elysian Brewing Company. I haven't missed it yet, and I have always had an unbelievable meal and the beer is unequaled in the United States as far as this beer snob is concerned. I had the posole for lunch (sadly, the server was a bit disengaged) It was the best posole I have ever tasted outside of New Mexico. The kitchen really knows what they're doing. I was happy to pay the check when it came. Zero complaints. You can't lose here if you love excellent beer and thoughtfully prepared food. GO!

Good beer, good service and decent food

By Steve M |

A giant beer pub with OK food . Try the Space Dust IPA if your a fan of IPA's. Service was very good and it was busy so that's saying a lot. The food is upscale bar food with some specials that can be tasty but you're not here for food alone!

Solid local pub experience for World Cup

By 1ARFer |

Sampled a few brews and Bartender helpful in selecting the right one. sandwiches were fresh and good. Would return again and certainly skip Pyramid Ale for this location.

phenomenal beer, okay food

By instanbul2005 |

To be fair, our pilgrimage there was entirely beer inspired, and with that orientation in mind, it was an overwhelming success. Even better than anticipated. As to our meals, my companions and I rated our meals in the C+ to B minus range. My suggestion is to go for the beer, and maybe a snack. Save your meal money for elsewhere.

Great beer!

By Bodeen72 |

We stumbled upon this place (pun intended) walking from downtown to the Seattle Boat Show at CenturyLink events center. A young lady dragging a suitcase passed us, then had trouble opening the door to a business, so, being the gentleman that I am, I helped her with the door. I then stepped back to see the name of the business, and what a surprise! It was a brewery! Quite fortuitous, I might add, as we had worked up a mighty thirst walking all the way from Olive Way & 4th Ave downtown! The beer selection is vast, and the beers we enjoyed were very good. I bet this place is a zoo on game days, but was a very cool stop-over on our way to the show. We will certainly return.

Stopped for appetizer before the game

By Jodyboz |

We were headed to Safeco and stopped in here before the game for a couple drinks and an appetizer. We ordered green chili pork french fries and they were delish!! It was perfect to hold us over until dinner. Our waiter, Connor, was awesome! He took great care of us! He made the mistake of telling us his mom even forgets his name sometimes... so we “the moms” made sure to call him by name every time he waited on us! His service was amazing and his smile was refreshing!

Funky, authentic, and a must visit for ale connoisseurs!

By Christopher H |

This is a place, if you like great beer--as a one-time Seattle native--is one of the finest of a new wave of micro-brews, with some interesting tasting varieties. Also a great bar menu. The bartenders are swift to let you sample various ale varieties. The food menu is simple, and full of tasty, high-quality Pacific Northwest seafood and entrees at a reasonable price. As a resident of Southern California -- the Capitol Hill area just above downtown is a great neighborhood and art district to browse around, and Elysian is one of the best stops in town, if you enjoy sampling one of Seattles leading--if not the best--microbrews.

This place is owned by Budweiser

By tshickx |

Decent beer and food, just don't pretend it's "craft". Especially on Capitol Hill where there are a whole bunch of places that only serve craft beer (Canterbury anyone?).

Wouldn't go again

By Heidi H |

We finally decided to try Elysian after roaming around looking for a place to eat. We found the service to be overly serious for the atmosphere and not very helpful. When we asked for recommendations from our server she listed almost everything on the menu. The menu had an eclectic variety from burgers to Mexican to curry. I ordered the corn cake appetizer and they were not good. It was basically polenta mixed with an entire chopped onion sitting in some nondescript brown, broth-like sauce. We also ordered the nacho appetizer which was okay. Overall we were not impressed by the service or food. Definitely wouldn't go again.

Oasis in the thick of rush hour

By jbjmog |

In the thick of rush hour, when nothing was moving, in desperation with a stress headache, I pulled off the crowded, stalled onramp and headed to Pioneer Square where the first watering hole was Elysian Brewing Company--this, of course, known because of the indispensable phone app-Cocktail Compass-directing me to the nearest happy hour--An amazing bartender who saw my distress and made me a Preakness Manhattan-fabulous with a touch of B&B-and promptly brought the food menu-15 minutes to go until 6-we were fed (pickled herring, mussels and potato croquettes) and watered and asked if we wanted another at one minute to 6--just in case--no-but it was a real oasis and I'll go back

It's fine. Food is okay, nice spot for big groups and tons of good beers.

Sad to find out they were bought by Budweiser

By We_love_to_Journey |

Met some friends here for lunch the other day. There were plenty of good micro-brews on tap. We also ate. I had the Mac and Cheese (added bacon) and found it surprisingly good. I was saddened to learn that Anheuser-Busch bought the brewery. The beer still tasted good, however. :)

beer!

By Abby R |

I love to head to the local breweries and try the beers that don’t make it to the east coast. We got a sampler, which they picked but were able to add-on the SuperFuzz Blood Orange Pale ale. I think my sister and I both liked the Witticism the best, but we are wheaty Belgium White beer drinkers. For yummy yummy food, I went with the fish tacos – fresh Mahi Mahi grilled and cubed. These were fantastic. I added all the garnish of cilantro, salsa and this spicy peanutty special sauce they had. I definitely ate all three, even though I was stuffed. My sister went for the Vegan Bahn Mi – with thinly fried tofu, jalapeño, pickled carrot and daikon. They topped it with a spicy lemongrass sauce and cilantro, which she happily handed over to me.

Older venue but good food

By Tradingcomet |

The burger and sweet potato fries are really good. I cannot say I've liked everything I've had here, but the service is very good and the atmosphere is friendly.

Vast beer selection and better than average bar food!

By Wanda Coats |

We usually go to the Elysian before Seahawks football games because it has a good beer selection and is across the street from C-Link Stadium. At the risk of inviting more competition for getting a table, if you're going on a game day, get there early (like when they open) because the waiting lines end up outside the door and down the street! My favorite beers have hints of pumpkin or chocolate...or both. It's not my thing, but others seem to enjoy the heavier, darker brews and there is a wide selection from which to choose. We start our meal with the Oasis appetizer (extra plate of pita bread) and maybe some steamed clams. They have a pretty good food selection of different kinds of burgers, chicken and pork sandwiches. One of my favorites is the steak salad. After good beer and food, we walk across the street and join 60,000+ of our closest friends...Go Hawks!

Great

By JoeyJoJoJrShabadoo |

Great beer. Great food. Great service. Good surroundings. Catered to families, which was nice. Nothing more to say, just a really great place overall.

Good Beer, Poor Service

By Shawn F |

We always try to find the local brew pubs when we travel. We were disappointed here. While waiting to be seated a waitress walked by us two times and didn’t even give us the time of day. Finally another came from up and greeted and seated us. The biggest disappointment came when we tried to order dinner. My wife has a severe food allergy, (carrots of all things); we were told they could not guarantee there would not be cross contamination because they cut all of their vegetables on the same table. We have never had this issue in a restaurant. So we finished our beer and went to another local brew pub. This was too bad because we liked their beer.

Good beer and good company

Fantastic beer, and decent lunch pub fare. The bartender was great and got great conversation with interesting locals at the counter.

Elysian Bar, 2nd Ave!!

By cappie999 |

Elysian Bar, 2nd Ave. What a gastronomic find!! Why are you not listed in trip advisor? We found this bar while walking to our hotel after returning our rental car and how lucky were we??? We stopped for a beer and were really intrigued by the menu, so we had to come back for dinner, and OH! What a treat! We started with the Elysian beer steamed clams, what flavor and perfect for sharing.. Next, we decided on the Seared Halibut with foraged wild mushrooms! Definitely WOW!!! I'm not much of a dessert person, but we shared the cheesecake with mint syrup & apples. Expectations, much exceeded! Don't miss this if you have the opportunity.

By ChuckTSeattle |

After the Red Hook closed it's doors in Fremont a number of years ago, it was a relief that you could still go to a local microbrewery for a fresh pint. The Elysian prodcues high-quality ales (Try the Immortal IPA or a seasonal beer like the Jasmine IPA in the summer). The food is decent, but the brews are fantastic.

Top Flight Experience To A Great Night

We ate at Elysian, Saturday on a night hitting spots on Capital Hill. Although it was busy, we were able to get seated imediately. The food server was friendly and very knowlegable about food telling us what was good and what isn't.

I am immortal

By Lawrence T |

Try their Immortal IPA. If you are not a hop head they are pouring are delicious peach sour and the excellent Dragons Tooth stout.

Average food with interesting brews

By KevinAGould |

Nice location t stop in after wandering around the market. Interesting menu but just the usual pub grub. The view of the harbor is relaxing and the pricing does not hit the wallet.

Great find on a Sunday night

By wannago2015 |

Beautiful restaurant in old brick building with a stunning bar and sweeping iron staircase as the focal points. Reasonable menu with a variety of inventive selections, outstanding and extensive offering of spirits and crafted cocktails. We sat in the back of the restaurant in an elevated section, much quieter than the front where they were playing football and also live entertainment upstairs (not sure as we did not go). The service was very friendly and prompt.

Great craft beers

By jimmojo |

If you are into craft beers I would highly recommend going here. Get a flight of beers to sample about 5 of them for like $12. We did not eat here but it looked like they had a pretty good menu. The Immortal IPA and Men's Room Red Ale were excellent. Dragon's Tooth is a little strong but worth trying. The Perseus Porter was unique. Glad I tried it but would not get a pint of it as I don't like smoky type beers.

Great Beer

By JoeMojo |

To this day, Space Dust IPA is still my favorite beer. My wife and I stopped in here before catching a Mariners game. Great beer and cool place.

Great for groups!

By Stacy Strickland |

Our work team had lunch here last week. The service for our group of 20-ish was great. The drinks were good, as was the hummus appetizer. I had the falafel sandwich which was okay. The side salad was delicious. The sandwich toppings were good... the falafel wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Most of my team enjoyed their meals. I would definitely eat here again.

Very Impressive selection

By Philip G |

I actually visited this place twice during my trip; primarily because my best friend, his wife and myself all agreed that the Trip XIII was probably the best beer we've ever had (this is not an exaggeration) and since it's not readily available (at least that I know of) we had to get some more. The atmosphere was great, service was great, and the food was really good too. They had a great selection of beers and quite a few pumpkin ales. I will certainly return here when I make my next Seattle trip.

the best of the elysian locations

great service. great beer. get a flight (or two!). we loved the beer so much that we came back for a growler! Elysian has different beers at different locations which is really kind of unique! This was our favorite location - best service and best atmosphere.

Not as good as it once was

By Kate R |

A year ago, we loved this place. The food was great. Now, the mac and cheese tastes acrid and I can get a better Ruben at Lost Lake. It's a shame. The staff is great. The food isn't worth the money any more.

I always love to eat at the local breweries when I travel. This place had a really good atmosphere. The service was good. Tried a couple of their IPA's and they were pretty good. The food was amazing! Over all it was a very good place. I will eat there again on my next visit.

pretty good for HH and good location

By Jesena |

We went there because one of our favorite places to go was closed again and I was pretty much in a bad mood and hungry. This place came along on the way back to the stadium and we thought to give it a try. We were quite surprised, the food was good, the HH prices great and we had a nice dinner after all. We had the Parmesan fries, the pulled pork sliders and a regular burger, all of it was tasty and the portions were good. Service was fast, friendly and took good care of our table. I will keep this on the list for the future and will be back again.

Beer and Burger

By Jason H |

The price you pay for what you get is brilliant. We enjoyed excellent burgers with beers to match. Unsure about the remainder of the menu but stick to the burgers and the large selection of beers and you won't be disappointed.

It's Ok

By RainnIceberg |

This place always seems to be busy. They have built a good clientele. They have an extensive beer selection which is great, but what is really odd, is out of the dozens of beers they offer, there was no lagers on the menu. While it was not so much a problem for me, one of my friends does not like darker beers, and struggled to find anything he enjoyed. The food seems to be good, and this Canadian was pleased to actually find poutine on an American menu. Thank you!

Lunch with friends

First time we tried and was very good! My husband had two samplers of the beer in tap, great, creative selection. The table spit the hummus plate, which was wonderful . The sandwichs were delicious and salads nice sized. Service was great and staff very friendly! We stayed and visited for awhile and had two babies and never felt rushed to leave.

OMG those french fries tho

By Samantha A |

First thing we did after arriving in Seattle was go to Elysian Brewing for a beer and some appetizers. We got the Men's Room Gold, Space Dust and the Lenny Spruce, all of which were delicious, along with an order of fries and some buffalo chicken wings. The fries were cooked to perfection: crunchy on the outside, cut kind of thin, and basically to die for. Our server was also friendly and attentive.

Great food, better beer!

By Joshua R |

This place is an awesome atmosphere to come and hang out with your friends or family. Even if you are not into beer, this place is perfect because they offer flights to try samples of their beers. The waitstaff was super friendly and patient. The best part of this place is that they have great food and excellent vegan options. Perfect place to unwind or not to miss on your Seattle vacation.

Fantastic Selection of Beers and Food

Off the beaten track and well worth the trip to sip on a beer in their beer garden which has afternoon shade. Try their flight with food on the side. Great waitstaff who recommend certain beers to your taste.

Mmmm...beer!

Go for the beer! They have some pretty good stuff here for a place that has a number of outlets around Seattle and a pretty healthy presence in many a restaurant and grocery store. The food is decent pub grub stuff.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night, were seated promptly. Beer was good, food portions were large, but a little overpriced. Service was with a smile and although the place was crowded, was quick. All in all, a pleasant experience, and we would return.

My Favourite Sports Debriefing Spot

By RobertMJThompson |

My host brought me here after a Mariner's game. I loved the place. There are delicious craft brews here and superior finger food. The warehouse style building offers plenty of seating options, space to make the talk filter up to the rafters. There are even family friendly zones. The large bar with big screens helps you to continue the action you just left at the stadium. And the name is perfect for the location!

Will have to try again

By tourtheworld |

Disappointing selection of beers available - many were out. Food was pretty good. Waitress was excellent; she dug high and low for a t-shirt for us (those were out of stock too). But with few beers to try and the totally annoying TV-themed soundtrack playing, we hit the door for better beer-stocked waters.

So Many Delicious Beers, So Little Time!

By Victoria M |

Like many Seattleites, Elysian Brewery is passionate about beer and this is evident in everything they do! Being East Coast beer connoisseurs, my boyfriend and I could not get enough of this Pacific Northwest brewery. Located on East Pike Street in the Capitol Hill district, Elysian is cool and airy with plenty of seating both at the bar and at surrounding tables and booths. They offer a wide assortment of interesting microbrews on tap. I recommend trying their “sampler” to get the full tasting experience. I fell in love with their Avatar Jasmine IPA (my cravings have kicked in as I write this!) my boyfriend was fond of the Men’s Room Ale. Most beers were enjoyable and it was difficult to narrow down the sampler into our “favorites”. Elysian also offers a full menu, including children’s options, of modernized favorites made with fresh local ingredients. The Capital Hill Elysian is located within steps of Bluebird Microcreamery, a must-stop for handmade ice-cream and more local brews!

Good happy hour visit

By Rather_Nomadic |

They have a good $5 happy hour appetizer menu and their beers are tasty too. They do 5 beer samplers so you can try the multiple things they have on tap. Friendly service. Kids would be okay at the tables. Good choice for happy hour in the Capitol Hill area.

Save money - go to McDonald's.

By dave m |

The food is great and plenty of it. The problem? Noisy. Crowded. Overpriced. Snooty young college students. It's just not worth it. Try the pizza place just down the street.

Great BEER!

By Scott M |

I am a huge fan of this company's beer, ale, libations, etc... They make the best basic IPA I've ever had (Immortal IPA) and my favorite seasonal beer (Night Owl Pumpkin Ale). They have a great contender for just about any type or style of beer you like. The public house itself on Pike St, is not convenient for parking, so I usually go to their pub, Tangletown by Green Lake/Wallingford. They make great fish and chips, but why bother with food, when you can fill up on their beer. I don't know if I can stress this enough: If you like good beer, you need to give this place a chane. I don't know how you could be dissapointed.
