Had lunch there yesterday. The food is amazing. The wings, Ropa Vieja Dip, and Mofongo were wonderful, but the Ocean Beach Salad was such a beautiful combination. We will be back!

The food is good, really love their salads but if you order rice and beans order them together because I ordered them to go and wanted them separate in the containers so my rice wasn't filled with beans. When I got home the orders were less than if o had ordered them together (like I did at the restaurant). I doubt there was even 4oz. Of beans or rice and I was charged $6. I personally think that's a very high price for about 6 bites of food. The staff is very nice and their plantain chips are really good but I'll definitely steer clear of their beans and rice....they are not that good!

My husband and I have gone here twice, and both experiences have been incredible. The food has so much flavor, and the service is amazing. I had the Cubano with fries - which I am now totally hooked.

Owners were really nice, good place to try that isn't crowded like that BBQ down the street. Would come back again to try the other items on the menu.

This place has been renamed to Little Cay. They have draft beers & Caribbean beer. Good selection of all types of West Indian cuisine.

Stopped in here for lunch before the Chargers game and had a great Cubano sandwich, all the flavors were perfect and the price was just right. I noticed the "chicken wings $1.00 off on Sundays" sign on my way out. Sure enough after the football game all I wanted was Chicken Wings. And I couldn't shake it so I brought my buddy back there for Chicken Wings.. We had 3 orders of Chicken Wings with their fantastic green Ajilimojilli sauce and their Jerk chicken sauce, had the barbecue sauce on the side. All three sauces were fantastic. We couldn't resist and ordered a plate of Empenadas that were also fantastic. We did dinner style with these small plates ($5-6) and left very satisfied. Embargo Grill is definitely an easy place to chill out after a tough day of vacationing, or before the mayhem ensues.

Tasty Cuban specialties, long family-style tables, counter service, cheerful atmosphere. Will they change their name if the US ever lifts its silly embargo? Friendly, efficient, fresh food, fun.

What a delight to find this in San Diego! The food is absolutely amazing and authentic. We were sure to order extra to have in our hotel. The food was reasonably priced for such a delicious meal. You must absolutely try this!!

Every meal was just finger licking....Ladys enjoyed they Sangaria...Ice cold beer...5+....must try, when in SD

Originally from Florida. Live in Texas. I can't find good Caribbean food there anywhere. We came out to San Diego for vacation and found this gem! Everything was amazing! Completely delicious. Great selection of food and drink, including Latin sodas in the fridge I hadn't seen since I was a kid!

A friend who lives in the area recommended this place and wow, our expectations were not only met but exceeded what we had heard and read about it. Everything we tried was amazing; the plantains, yucca frita, calamari and our meals....outstanding! Our serving person, Crystal (sp?) was so attentive, kind and was genuinely interested in what we and our 6 year old granddaughter had to say and was not put off by questions about the menu. Food came quickly and again and it was very obvious it was fresh and made with love.....enjoy, we certainly did and when we are in town again, we will make it a point to eat there again!

Very good, very reasonable price for the amount of food. Everything tasted very fresh. Nice method of selecting, choose protein, choose sides, choose sauces, anything you want all same price. Definitely recommend the mofoso (not sure spelling). Dessert also delicious. Waiters and all staff very friendly, knowledgeable.

Good medianoche. Good key lime tartlet. Pleasant informal atmosphere. Friendly staff. Brewed iced tea.

Wonderful little Latin-Caribbean shop with personal service and a taste of Cuba. The pulled-pork Mixto sandwiches are outstanding, and the Cafe' Cubano espresso is very good. Normally you wouldn't find this fair outside of Cuba or South Florida, but it's right here...I try to go once a week.

My wife and I stumbled on to this one late afternoon on our way back home from the marina. Awesome food. We've taken all of our family member at one point or another. It has become one our "Go To" stops anytime we're down in San Diego around Point Loma. Definitely leave room for desert!

The menu has some great food selections. Not too many options, not to few either. Just the right amount so you know the quality and focus on the items served is great. Flavours are fantastic. Portions are generous so good for sharing. Service is fast and friendly. You have to have a starter, entrée, and desert.

The cubano sandwich was pretty tasty. The bread was nicely buttered and crisp. The fries were hand cut skin on half sweet half regular potatoes. The only bummer was that the fries were oily and soggy.

We ordered the sandwich and grill special for pick up . We enjoyed the taste and it was freshly made too . The interior is like any fast food restaurant , suitable for a quick dine in option

We stopped here after reading some reviews while out at Sea World. We were not disappointed!! They recommend items for us and it was so good and full of flavour. Wish we were staying closer cause we would eat here every night! I would definitely recommend this place!

Don't let the mini-mall location fool you.....Great unique food. Seems like a mishmosh of Carribean & latin cuisine...so maybe it rubs some hardcore Caribbean foodies the wrong way....but cheaper than a plane ticket The cuban is damn good. Even if my wife wants to go to Las Olas....I make sure we get at least 1 cubano to take home for dinner #2. I also thought the Boricua combo was fantastic. 3 beers on tap. I kinda wish they would play some soccer of sports or something other than pictures of their food on a loop on the TV's. But really I'm there for the food....so no biggie.

I love their salads as well as everything I've tasted there. The service is excellent and they genuinely seem to appreciate your business. When I had a recent problem with my to-go order they went out of their way to make it up to me. I'm very happy we have a great place for Cuban food in San Diego! (sorry it took me so long to comment again but Trip Advisor has a wait time for review postings).

In our opinion, this is not what we would consider traditional Cuban food. The bistec tasted like carne asada and the ropa vieja was fatty. However, the maduros were delicious!

The food is okay but nothing like Cuban food to me and my friends it was disappointed to drive so far for it , if you are interested on Cuban food don't come here .

I have lived in Miami and visit back often. This place is the real deal if you want Cuban food in San Diego. The Cubano is a must try with the flavorful pork , ham and mustard , best of all on a great roll. Jerk Chicken is right on the mark also. Sides of garlic sweet potato fires and two dipping sauces another must try. Wide selections and tempting desert menu with coffee like no other. Easy Parking and access from the 8 , near Midway and Sports Arena . Make the trip for any part of San Diego.. Friendly staff that will explain the menu .

This is a great place for eating flavourful dishes. The place is very casual, nothing fancy. The menu is not complicated either, but what they do, they do well. The portions are pretty generous, anything you can't eat is worth taking home in a box. You can also customise your dish by choosing the rice, the protein, and the sauce to go with the salad greens. Of the desserts the chocolate rum cake is not the greatest, but the bread pudding is a good choice.

I waited for a year to come back to eat here and, all I can say is that if Cuban food is this good, America lift embargo, and let's eat!

This place needs a good latin chef that knows what his doing. We've been there about three times, and everything we had tried has been poor quality and flavor. We tried the mofongo, not even close to a real one. The second time I ordered a Churrasco. All I could do is laughed. Are you serious they call that a Churrasco?? Where in the world you get the idea that Churraco has lettuce on top of the rice and the meat is chopped??!! Ha ha ha!! Anyway, will not go there ever!

Tried this place for the first time. Wow! This place is super legit! I had the Picadillo, yellow rice and pink beans and all I can say is Wow! The meat was tender and very lean. The yellow rice was very flavorful but, did not over power the other flavors. The beans were cooked to perfection! It tasted so close to my family's food. Only bad part, it made me miss my Aubela! -may she rest in peace.

My husband introduced me to Embargo Grill, and so far, we have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have eaten there. The Cubano is their signature, and it is very tasty. We have also tried some of the plates, as well as their veggie options, and they are all very fresh-tasting, with sauces that complement the food. I haven't been for happy hour, but apparently they have deals on sangria (which they let us taste). The staff here is incredibly friendly and efficient, and I look forward to each visit I make to Embargo Grill.

My husband made us go back 3 times in 3 days! It was that good! Get the special. It won't disappoint!

Everything is fresh and delicious. The salad choices are terrific and well priced. You can go from simple to menu entree, to build your own with salads. They also have a number of Caribbean appetizers and main courses that I didn't try, but they looked good on other tables.

This is a clean little place in a strip mall with a very unique Cuban menu. We went for lunch and it was fantastic. I had the Cubano sandwich, hubby had a grill bowl and we shared some fried plantains. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. The Cubano had the right bread to filling ratio and the pork melted in my mouth. Hubby loved his steak grill with chimchurri sauce. The plantains were terrific too...really thinly sliced with the right amount of seasoning. Yum. The sangria of the day, peach and apricot was refreshing and not too sweet. A great deal at $3.25 a glass on Wednesdays. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We will be back.

Always a wow! I've dined here many times for delicious meals-- as saintly or sinful as you like... and it won't break the bank. Open for lunch and dinner, the menu offers a wide range of Caribbean flavors, including salads, savory and spicy sauces, sandwiches, sweets.. and sangria. I enjoy the Boricua salad... Though it sounds decadent, it has a healthy balance of fresh greens, Cuban rice with beans, savory pulled pork and BBQ sauce with just the right kick. The bread pudding with rum sauce is delightful. The cafe con leche is made perfectly to order. The consistent food quality and server Irwin's smile keep the Embargo Grill on my list of local favorites.

Reasonably priced and great combination of flavors. I had the Boricua plate, but they had sooo many dishes I wanted to try that we are definitely going back.

I have been here several times and love it more every visit. Food is exceptional, service is great and daily specials are a super great deal. Dog friendly, outside of course but, never the less very friendly. Having just moved to California I was hopeful I would find another Cuban eatery comparable to my favorite back home in Florida and I'm pleased to announce I think Embargo Grill is actually better. Enjoy my friends...it's GOOD stuff!

Really great Cuban food. I've eaten here numerous times over the years, and everything is wonderful and so flavorful. The Cuban sandwich is always popular (great combo of flavors), but my favorites are their Embargo Grill dish w/ rice, beans, generous helping of fresh salad and your protein of choice. I love the Key West ( w/ grilled chicken, yellow rice and curry sauce) the Hurricane (with Grilled chicken and sweet chili sauce) and the mahi mahi is really good, too. Really can't go wrong!

Excellent food and fantastic service. We picked this place because it had gluten free options. Food came out quick and was larger than average portions. They have alcohol choices which featured two house sangrias. Owner was friendly and walked around engaged in conversation with everyone in the restaurant. Staff greeted us upon arrival and sat us with menus since we dined in for dinner.

Great food! The sauces are so unique and full of flavor. Chicken wings, beef stew, and empanadas, loved them all! Will definitely return. This is casual dining, worth every penny. Great for family dining. I highly recommend this place. Tom (the owner Carl’s friend) greeted us and told us about menu, he was actually pretty entertaining. A+

I've lived in Florida, Tampa and now San Diego, therefore I think I'm a good reviewer for authentic latin cuisine. A travel group met here and the service and food were excellent. Friendly, cozy, upbeat and fun. I've worked in food service (sales and merchandising) as well as had a catering company. I felt Embargo Grill has high standards for their ingredients and presentation. Will be holding another travel meet up group here again. The reviews speak for themselves (with exception of perhaps one). Would recommend.

We just got done with seaworld and traffic was horrid so we found this gem on yelp. The food, atmosphere and service is amazing. The place was hopping none stop and we ended up spending a lottle more time researching our hotel options since they had free wifi. If you're visiting seaworld, add this place to your trip

We stopped by for lunch on our way to Sea World on June 30th. The food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the Cuban Sandwich and their Mofongo. Prices and great for the portions received.

Hudi, Tom, Carl and the gang are fantastic. Really first rate selections and combos and genuine Cubano sandwiches. Karen and I make it a point to visit our friends here every week or so and the fabulous music adds to the atmosphere. Whether you are a local or just visiting San Diego, you're really missing out if you don't try Embargo Grill. It's the best Cubano food you'll find outside of the Calle Ocho in Miami's Little Havana or Cuba itself.

I have been ambivalent in writing this review. I don't know if I was extremely disappointed because of all the good reviews the place has or because I was really excited to eat "back-home" food while being really hungry. I liked the ambiance, and I appreciate that the waitress took her time in explaining the menu and dishes and to pinpoint her's and the public favorites, after asking if it was our first time at the place. But the food... My disappointed started with the "croquetas", which I was expecting to be the usual bechamel based one, my error since the menu describe it as potato croquettes. It was served with a marinara-like sauce, which didn't paired well with the croquettes. Not enough reason for a bad review. Next we tried the empanadas, My spouse made the comment that seemed to be the problem with the rest of our meal, the meat (picadillo) was salty. Didn't have too much of a problem eating it; the dough was perfect but the meat was lacking some flavor plus it was salty and the accompanying dipping BBQ sauce didn't pair well. This still is not enough reason for a bad review. We received our meals, a medianoche sandwich for my spouse and La Isla Bonita (ropa vieja, shredded lechón, yellow rice, pink beans, tostones, and ajilimójili sauce) with white rice instead of yellow for me. The spouse was happy eating the sandwich while immersed in nostalgia, but he said it was a little too salty. I was bummed when I saw my plate, the tostones were tiny and I only got two. I tried the ropa vieja and it was extremely salty to an extent which was not edible. Seeing that I may have to return my plate I tried the shredded "lechón", it was too salty but I could eat it, and since I was really hungry I didn't bother to return my plate. Since the tostones were small, I resigned myself to the two I had, but bummer, first bite and it was undercooked. Now I had a miserable frown at the table. Didn't help that the ajilimójili had something extra that made it taste wrong, so I ate my tiny tostones by themselves and when I opted to pour some ajilimójili over my rice and beans it tasted... salty. At least my other tostón was cooked and it brought some happiness back. By the end of the meal I was offered a takeout box for the ropa vieja that stayed untouched in my plate, which I declined since it was inedible; I was surprised I was not asked what was wrong with it. The server kindly served a cortadito on the house since she forgot it when when we ordered it at the start of our meal. Overall, I don't see us going back and definitely, we would not recommend it.

Read great reviews from Yelp so we try it out. Food good taste , portion medium, price reasonable. Simple seating environment and casual . Spicy spicy for me

One of my favorite places in San Diego, by far. I went with my mom and we sat outside, enjoying the wonderful weather. Our waiter was extremely nice and friendly and let us know about all the ingredients and meals on the menu (my mom is very picky). We got their plantain chips and their chicken empanadas that come with a homemade honey bbq sauce and then we got the Curry Stew and La Isla Bonita. Pure nirvana!!! I've had Cuban food in Miami and it was great, but this is my West Coast equivalent to it.The prices were fair and the service is so friendly and welcoming! We will be coming back any time we are in town. -Omid Moradshahi

This restaurant is very, very good! I've had the Cubano panini previously and it was wonderful. I can also vouch for the "build your own" with grilled chicken, yellow rice, and chimichurri sauce, which was extremely tasteful. Now I can't wait to try all the rest of the items on the menu!

Honestly, we were quite hesitant to try this one out. But we're glad we did it. The dishes were good, and portions are big. So you'll defeat feel like it was worth the money (which is not much, honestly). Service was OK. They only had 1 waitress at the moment.

We came here after a day at Sea World. We got a free side dish called Mariquitas De Platano (Seasoned crispy plantain chips) for checking in on Yelp. It was great specially with a side order of garlic aioli. We also ordered the Bistec de Palomilla (grilled marinated flap steak with sautéed onions, white rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains), Cubano Medianoche(The original Cuban sandwich), and the pulled pork sandwich on the kids menu. For dessert we tried the Maduras Foster (fried plantains with caramelized sugar, rum foster sauce, toasted coconut and vanilla ice cream) and the Carribean style bread pudding (Rum soaked cranberries and creme anglaise with rum). We enjoyed our meal and service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely come back again to try their other dishes.

if you love Cuban food, this is the place to go. Although the Cubano sandwich is my favorite, the Empanadas are excellent and the salads with your choice of beans, rice and toppings are outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and personal and we visit at least once a week. Come and get some! Es muy bueno y no te arrepentiras!

Delicious. I'm not sure what else to say — the food here is amazing! The service, right off the bat, was friendly and quick. After placing my order, there was a bit of a wait to get my food, but it was worth it. The vaca frita — a dish I recommend at any Cuban restaurant — was crisp and flavorful, as it should be. The rice and beans were seasoned perfectly. The price was relatively high, but for Cuban food, I don't mind. If you're new to Cuban food, ask them for recommendations; they'll be happy to help.

I found this place while lost. While that sounds very zen-ish and much deeper than my experience, it is nonetheless true! I was searching for a way back to my Marina when I realized that I was lost in Point Loma and turned into this new-ish shopping center. As I liked the mix of businesses and I get some of my provisions there, I began walking and found this little gem... The staff was instantly friendly. The wall posters brought back memories of Cuba and they offered free Sangria samples.... As a long time sailor free liquor was the only prompting I needed to stay .... I began trying the yucca frites( wonderful amount of garlic); the Cuban sandwich( best I've had in Cali) and some Puerto Rican dish that had rice/beans/ some type of delicious meat. The food was delicious. The Latin music was uplifting and the vibe was Latin families meets lost local( a very good thing). I suspect that these places will start popping up all over SD...

Traveling for conference and was looking for a good local place and this certainly delivered! Very reasonable, excellent food and amazing staff (I suspect it was the family that owns the place) fast, courteous, great chow- I'll be back tomorrow.

My husband has been stationed both in Tampa and Cuba, so he knows from Cuban food. This is the first restaurant we've been to in years that he has called truly Cuban. Bowls and sandwiches both good, as are the tostones, one of my favorites. They also have excellent service.

I used to live in Miami and this place is a winner for cuban style food in SD! It was jamming when I arrived with my wife and we would return when we are craving vaca fritas.

Foods are very tasty, portion is a bit small... But they are so good!! Everything looks so fresh, place is not fancy but clean and cozy! Chicken wings - must try!

We stopped here on our way out of San Deigo for one last meal in CA. Having lived in Miami for about five years, I became accustomed to the Cuban food taste. This definitely didn't taste exactly like Miami, but it was pretty darn amazing! The plates are piled high with lots of veggies, which I love, and the vegetarian options were plentiful. My family loved the meats, and thought they were well seasoned. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the coffee was incredible. If you are looking for Cuban food in San Diego, you have to stop here!

We went to Embargo since we were in that area and based on the very good ratings in tripadvisor. I can confirm what other people wrote. We had a selection of various starters (4 to 6 USD each) and a Cesar's salad. Very interesting fusion style kitchen. Also the main courses (key west chicken and beef short ribs (8 to 14 USD) were very tasty. Kids menu was also fine, however our younger son found the slowly roasted beef too spicy.

Best place we've eaten on our visit to San Diego! Food and service was excellent! Don't miss the cafe au lait and chocolate rum cake for dessert!

I'm the culinary chairperson for the mission beach women's club. Recently, we had a general meeting which had a travel theme and I wanted to serve a sampling of different foods around the world. I knew about the Embargo Grill when I would get my car washed on pt. loma blvd. and then sometimes go across the street to look at what shops were around. One day, I ordered the empanadas. Wow! Sooo good. Spicy, but in a good way. I bought 60 of them at a very good price point of $1.50. I only got one--they went so fast that I wish I had doubled the order! Btw, I also had one of their cubano sandwiches because I saw the movie Chef--very tasty! See the movie, and then you'll know why you HAVE to go to embargo.

This place has wonderful choices at reasonable prices in a relaxed atmosphere. The service was friendly.

I used to think I didn't like Cuban food. It turns out I just hadn't had the good stuff yet. This restaurant was a fantastic surprise and I'm extremely glad to have found it. Every ingredient in every dish I've had here sings on its own - They're all cooked perfectly and assembled together promptly when you order them. I personally love the sandwiches, especially the Ropa Vieja, but the mixed plates are also great. Save room for dessert, too. The bread pudding is some of the best I've had anywhere in the world.

Great family dinner : very relaxed. Fun attentive staff Love the vacation feel music fans and smells Great kids menus We loved our meals and fair priced

So I came in to San Diego on the Coast Surf liner Train and was a hanker-in for a Cuban Sandwich. So Yelping away we found the Embargo Grill. It was getting on into the evening so - lets scoot on over and get Charley a Cubano. Well this place is hidden in a strip mall with a huge lot to traverse, but the Sign EMBARGO made it reasonably easy. It is an order at the register and we bring it to your table kind of place. Reasonably priced. Very friendly people. And. Real Cuban Food made by Cubans! Gotta love that. They usually know how mama made it and it is infused into their nervous system and presto - out comes good Cuban food. The sandwich was very nice, Tasty sauce, thick cut pickles - I like that - and just a simple good combination. nice layout, I am coming back. The drink menu looks good, but is untested by me, I guess I was taking the night off! Well really I was jumping in a big loaded truck in the very early AM and driving it back home 400 miles away. Oh my it has been a traveling month for me.

NO WONDER THE EMBARGO GRILL IS YELP TOP 100 RESTAURANTS IN U.S! Open daily, beginning at 11AM, this self-described "simple Caribbean eatery featuring traditional dishes and drinks, including sangria" is not to be missed. From the moment we entered, our server Irwin could not be be more helpful, especially when we shared with him our upcoming Cuba trip. The La Isla Bonita is one of their many top menu items-ropa vieja beef and lechon pork, served with Puerto Rican style pink beans, yellow rice, tostones and ajilimojili sauce on the side. Save your airfare! Cuban and Caribbean dinners are just a couple miles from downtown San Diego. As an added treat, the Caribbean Style Bread Pudding is one for the ages-Rum-Soaked Cranberries and Creme Anglaise with Rum. We hope that you enjoy rum!

The restaurant is cozy and the service is truly wonderful. The food is good but wouldn't necessarily say taste like true Cuban/Puerto Rican. Overall, a nice experience.

Such a great menu and really nice staff . Something different from the usual cookie-cutter places. Highly recommend

Food is great! lots of choices. Various Carribean/ latino Sodas to choose from. Service was excellent as well. If you want to try something new and flavourful, this is an excellent option!

This is a small restaurant with awesome service! Food is delish! We got salads which didn't allow for Caribbean flavors but the yellow rice was yummy treat in our salads. I thought the sauce on the pork for the pork salad was too strong, might be too salty for some folks. Servings were average. Prices were average. Service was very good and friendly. I heard the empanadas and mofongo were tasty. They have a happy hour so we plan to visit again soon.

I'm in the area for business and stumbled upen this place. I intend to back a couple more times before I leave! So tasty. All fresh, will accommodate changes. Owners are great!

Cuban food. Nice place. Friendly staff. Ordered a steak sandwich. Very filling and tasty. The bread was perfect. Beer was cold. The kids enjoyed their teriyaki chicken and rice off the kids menu. I would suggest this place for a quick lunch.

The food offered here is intense with flavor. The south American influences are apparent and delicious! From drinks to entrees, the selection here is plentiful. The serving size is even more plentiful. Service is well aware of how delicious their food is and is happy to share their favorites to help narrow down your choices. I look forward to returning whenever I am in San Diego.

We had the Cuban sandwich, the Hurricane salad and some calamari for lunch - the sandwich was superb, the salad was excellent, but the calamari was just sort of ok, a little bland. Loved the atmosphere with great music going. The staff was very friendly and energetic, I would definitely go back again but order a different appetizer.

This is first stop from airport. Great food, service is outstanding fresh and full of favor. I can't say how wonderful they are, I always have my meal different from menu and they are happy to do this It's small but very clean you can see right into kitchen. They do have seating outside, table service or take out. Always have leftovers! The restroom is very clean has hot water and plenty of soap. Parking is never an issue

Stopped here because this place had a high yelp rating. It is deserved. Relatively small place. Service was excellent, waitress was really hustling: she seemed overworked, frankly. Food preparation was quick. The menu is great because it offers build your own dishes and everything is essentially a la carte with lower prices as a result. Very good for sharing. Everything was tasty, as good or better than the few Cuban restaurants I've been to.

Loved the food here. Can't wait to go back. They were so friendly and fast. Decor and atmosphere was great also. Loved, loved, loved this place.

This place has excellent food. The flavors are amazing . The staff is great and friendly and I will definitely eat here again

Having lived in Florida for many years, I have a very high standard for Cuban and Caribbean food. Embargo Grill is almost as yummy as places in Miami. I had pulled pork with rice, beans, and salad, topped with BBQ sauce. The pork was tender and perfectly seasoned. I would have preferred it without the overly sweet sauce but I dug down and found plenty without the sauce. I also had a plate of ripe plantains with it and they were sweet and perfectly charred. My husband had the Cuban sandwich, which was average, and some garlicky mufungo with shrimp and cilantro. That was superb. Service was outstanding (like most of the places we've been in San Diego- seriously- can y'all come serve in Texas?!) and we enjoyed our experience a lot.

key west, hurricane, 그리고 monday special음식이 cubana sandwich 를 먹었어요, take out 가능하구요, 음식이 정말 한국인입맛에 딱 맞네요~ 넘 맛있었어요 이곳은 yelp 앱의 the top places to eat in US 2015에 뽑히기도 했어요

We were looking for another restaurant in the strip center but came upon the embargo grill accidentally. The flavor combinations were great, the price was reasonable, service was excellent. We were just visiting the area but if we lived nearby it would be one of our favorite hangouts.

Tucked away in a small shopping precinct and with a low key canteen-type vibe, don’t let first impressions fool you-the food was the real deal! Really great value, we had a cocktail, beer and two plates of brilliant juicy, slow cooked meat for $35! Embargo has a small but well chosen section of drinks-the IPA and Pisco sour are solid choices. We also had success with two classic dishes-the Boricua (pork) and Montego Bay slow cooked beef. I would recommend Embargo to anyone in the Mission Bay Area of San Diego.

The. plantain chips are great. We had a dish with pulled pork rice and beans and lettuce. It was topped with just enough BBQ sauce. Very tasty. You can pick from a select menu or build your own. Wished I lived in San Diego so that I could eat there more often.

Wonderful Cuban food! My favorite is the Key West Combo with grilled chicken and yellow rice, black beans and rum soaked craisins. Their sandwiches are also excellent and very tasty.

Found this place while driving down and Cuban food sounded just right. Delicious food all around, everyone was happy. Bummer they don't have a full liquor license, but the sangrias were great. My pulled pork was amazing. Wish I lived nearby as I'd come all the time.

My team from work said we had to go here and we all got different food and it was all amazing !! Key west chicken is to die for!!! Highly recommended!! A must.

Great tasting food. Staff was very accommodating and provided a solid recommendation as to what to eat.

Good food, lots of choices. Authentic taste. Friendly staff. I'd give it 3.5 stars, just because the succotash did not taste real fresh, and it didn't have any cilantro in it.

Their grilled dishes are light & available in a large variety. The cuban sandwich was amongst the best that I have ever had. That is after living in Miami for 6yrs. Added bonus, it is reasonably priced!

This little place is one of our new favorites, with every dish we've tried being simply delicious. Their staff is also very friendly. You gotta try Embargo Grill...you won't regret it!

So I came here by myself and I immediately felt the Miami Vibe as I walked up to the entrance! I'm original born and raised in Miami for 18 years and I joined the Navy & got stationed out in San Diego and I have been searching for a restaurant that has everything from home and I strongly believe that I have found that in this place! Authentic Ambiance to a typical Cuban cafe in Miami, as well as the original cafe con Leche that were very well known for, and the sandwiches are made authentically and the rice & beans are spot on. They even have a soda menu that sells Milka, Jupiña, Inca Cola, Colombian Soda you name it! All the famous south American sodas that I grew up drinking are now available to me at anytime upon discovering this beautiful place. Thank you for providing not only myself, but to the residents of San Diego, a little piece of my home.

Wanted to try Cuban food so I ordered their Key West. Tasted as good as it looked. Was told it was their #2 seller. The Cubano sandwich was great and very filling.

Very friendly staff. The manager went out if his way to make us feel at home and explain everything. Interesting and delicious food. We will come back!

You experience great food at a great spot with a kick of healthy and caribbean flavor. I am a regular at this spot. The staff is always friendly.

I stumbled upon this while scrolling restaurants for dinner. I took a chance and called for a delivery. It was so worth it! I ordered the cucumber salad, the chicken sandwich, and the empanadas. All so delicious! 4 stars instead of 5 because I ordered two cucumber salads and only one ended up in the bag. Otherwise great!

The Cubano sandwich here is to die for. Great service by all staff. My brother likes Suggested Combinations but I can't ever order anything other than that fantastic pulled pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, on the toasted Cuban bread with the mustard and mayo mustard spread. Try it. You'll love. It's a way of life.

Came here with my fiancé, my buddy, and his wife and tried different entrees from their menu. Everything was amazing. The white and red sangrias were heavenly drinks on earth. ~Miami Hat

I have a Monday lunch spot ritual and this is it! Cuban Sandwich is my favorite! Staff is courteous and friendly.

Wow! Environment is ok, music appropriate but the Cubans was perfect! Just like I remember them! Very happy we found it.

The food here was very good. The service was good but slow. The Cuban sandwich was excellent! Everything we tried was so good.

You have to eat here it is absolutely delicious. I had the pulled pork dish with rice, pink beans and salad this dish has a sweet sauce I would recommend it. The servings are big also. You can create your own dish which we also did and had the steak with rice which was amazing. The restaurant has a nice chilled feeling with Cuban music in the back ground. The staff and service are great.

We were taken to the Embargo Grill by our local hosts - I wouldn't have found it otherwise! Had the special of the day, which was a 'sandwich' with fries. The sandwich was excellent - not something you'd want to take away, as it was oozing with awesome juices and sauces! Amazing flavours (for a sandwich!), good service, and great value considering the quality and quantity of food we had! Recommend!

This was our second visit to Embargo Grill. We enjoyed this meal as much as the first. Fresh good ingredients. We will be back.

Stopped in for lunch on the way from Mission Beach to Cabrillo National Monument. Wonderful staff, the waiter guided us through the create-your-own plate, but you can order their recommended plates or sandwiches. The food was very good, and I strongly recommend it.

No restaurant has stayed here long and neither will this one. When the server says 'everything' on the menu is great, you're off to a bad start. Appetizer came out after our entrees and the food was rather uninspiring. We'll wait for the next restaurant to move in before we go back to this property.

I love this place and I always visit because I love their food. Last time we were there one of the servers was really rude. Of course we were able to get a different server who made up for the last one but still wasn't expecting this after visiting so many times.
best meal in San Diego so far!
the server said everything was excellent and after eating, I believe him. he brought out a sample of all the sauces for us to try. it was a difficult decision but when the food came, it actually looked as good as the pictures! the owner had told us if we didn't like the good, we didn't have to pay and with two plates scraped clean, we tried to convince him we didn't like it. it was a great find!
