A mixed bag experience

By Scottybucks |

A very loud and intense dining environment, it’s clearly catering for a party crowd. The food was good, a tab over flavoured in places. The starter crab cake tasted great, a bit cold though, perhaps as it was very thick it was hard to cook throughout. The octopus salad, same theme, tasted great, quality of the octopus lovely, just too much going on flavour wise on the plate overwhelming with balsamic. The josper halibut was delicious, the chicken also tasty but over powered with the herb dressing a touch. For dessert we had lemon ice cream (although tasted like a sorbet) which was good and a plantain sundae which was tasty just too much both with number of flavours going on and portion size was massive. The service from most of the team was friendly but we found our main server overly intense with reeling off menu details at a pace that we simply couldn’t take on board. It all came across a little arrogant and not an approachable or friendly style of service.

A beatuful getaway

The food here is absolutely delicious. I love to go out and eat things that I could never make myself. The atmosphere is also beautiful, with great ambiance. It is a very special place, indeed.

Expensive meal in Austin.

By Wander818604 |

Overpriced but very good meals. A very trendy place with a lovely vibe. We enjoyed our meals but prices are ridiculous. $115 for a rib eye? Has 3 levels. I would request basement or table away from the bar. Our waitress was the bartender. She was very good but she had too much going on to be effective. For those prices we should have a designated waiter.

Good food and service, but high prices and small portions.

Food and service is good but prices are insane for the small portions you get. Paid 200 per person after tip. Also the music was way too loud - had a hard time hearing the person accross from me at the table.

Amazing experience

I can't recommend Ember Kitchen enough. We were visiting Austin at the beginning of July and I booked the Chef's counter not knowing what to expect. There wasn't a moment during the entire evening that I could look back on and think that wasn't 100% amazing. Our server Presley was fantastic. The whole kitchen crew was fabulous to watch and interact with. Every single plate that came out to us was mind-blowingly good. We'd never experienced a Josper oven and the taste it imparts on the food is wonderful. We will go back the next time we are in Austin.

Get the shrimp

We sat at bar..they were out of sangria ? And a beer my husband wanted..something about changing menus next week? We had potatoes, sirloin skewer and the shrimp.. delicious ..shrimp is like a soup w naan bread..delicious.. tiny kick but not overly spicey and a nice portion .plenty for a dinner

Not BBQ in Austin

By Todd B |

Austin being known for southern cuisine particularly BBQ, Ember is a celebrated alternative. Taking the food very seriously, each dish was prepared and served perfectly. Crispy plantains as side for the Market Fish which happened to be Halibut, were literally perfect. It’s not often you taste exactly what you expect when going to a restaurant for the first time especially when the influence is Peruvian and they boast their Josper oven. Nonetheless, bar staff was attentive and friendly. The vibe was chill and the overall ambience was relaxing.

WOW! Amazing food!

WOW!! Amazing Josper oven experience at this upmarket restaurant in Austin! Excellent food and service. We were wowed with the flavours from the starter to desert. So delightful and flawless! Maddy is a brilliant server. I would hire her if I owned a restaurant. I fully recommend the filet skewer, roasted halibut, lamb chops (special menu) and beef fat potatoes. You won't regret it! Lovely, lively and casual atmosphere. They have 2 floors of dining areas. We were seated upstairs. There is an elevator in the restaurant if needed. The bar is on the ground floor and the washrooms are upstairs. They offer validated parking for 2 hours at the Seaholm Power Plant garage on Walter Seaholm Drive. We definitely will return if we're back here in Austin! Come on guys! Run!!!!

Best New Restaurant in Austin. Grace the hostess makes sure to always make our trips here special. Make sure to get the steak skewers and one of their awesome mezcal cocktails.

From what I can tell this is a new restaurant for Austin. We love it. Great music, food and atmosphere. We loved the appetizer special they had, it was a sea bass from Japan, shashmi style. (pictured) plus everything on menu was great. I had the scallops. Wonderful. They do offer 2 hours paid parking.. but definetly not great prices after 2 hours.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Dining Experience of My Life!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Dining Experience of My Life! Wow, just WOW! I had the most incredible experience at this restaurant—it was an absolute dream come true! From the moment I stepped in, I could feel the energy and passion that goes into every detail here. First off, let's talk about Claire, our amazing waitress. Claire was a superstar! She was not just attentive, but she made us feel like royalty. Her warmth and attention to detail were unmatched. She anticipated our needs before we even knew what they were! I had the best seat in the house, right by the kitchen, and let me tell you, watching Chef Price, Chef Kang, and Chef Wallace in action was like watching culinary magic unfold! These chefs are masters of their craft, creating dishes that blew my mind. The food was out-of-this-world delicious, with every single option being a culinary masterpiece. And Vicante—oh my goodness—Vicante made the BEST Old Fashioned I've ever had in my life. I’m talking about a drink that was perfection in a glass. You can taste the love and expertise he puts into every sip! I came all the way from Florida just to try this place, and it exceeded every expectation I had! The service? Impeccable. The food? Simply divine. The atmosphere? Electric! This is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience you’ll never forget. I can't recommend it enough—this place is a MUST-VISIT!

Excellent choice for a night out

Ember Kitchen has become a new favorite for us in Austin. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere and delicious food. Would highly recommend! We sat at the chef’s counter which gave you an excellent view of the kitchen and all of the amazing dishes. We opted to try several of their small plates which is always a great way sample what the kitchen has to offer. From the drinks, to the crudo to the filet skewer and crispy tamal it was delicious!

Great Austin Restaurant You Need To Try. Accepts “In Kind” App credits so it’s a good value as well. Beautiful space too

What a great addition to the Austin restaurant scene! The only place in Austin (and possibly Texas) with a Josper Oven (Google it :). Food is excellent as is the service and the bar and the Mezcalaria downstairs are among the best Tequila and Whiskey bars in Austin

DO NOT BOOK A RESERVATION

By Rachel D |

WARNING: if you book a reservation and cancel 22 hours in advance, they will charge you $25/person. NOT WORTH the risk of having to cancel, what if life happens or someone is sick? I understand a no-show or last minute but 22 hours in advance? Will never dine at Ember because of this.
