Casual lunch, lots of variety on the menu and GOOD

By doreilly2018 |

Fun lunch with a friend this week. There were lots of items on the menu that sounded good but I had to make a decision, so picked the lunch-size cheese pizza with a side salad which was good but my friend had the grilled romaine salad with chicken and it looked phenomenal and she said was very tasty. We'd definitely go back and think it would be a fun place for Happy Hour.

Ok, not great

By WildHaireAdventures |

My hotel was close by and I didn’t feel like going anywhere so I called in an order for pickup so I can’t honestly comment on the service here. I had the fish tacos and they were ok, not great. The portions were ok, I would probably try a different restaurant next time.

not impressed

By Shenean |

overall, would not recommend--too many other good, nearby choices. tried to sit on the patio, but there was so much pollen on the tables/chairs--waited, standing by my table, as waitress after waitress passed by and said someone else was bringing a rag to wipe it down (don't they do that BEFORE the restaurant opens??)--all of them were more fascinated with the dog sitting at another table to pay any attention to me standing there. we moved inside, and I watched as the exact same thing happened to two gentlemen--shockingly, even the manager passed by them, didn't run to grab a rag, and moved on. the music they were playing seemed WAY off from their apparent lunchtime crowd. Food was average, at best. Seems like more of a bar that also sells food than a true restaurant. Now I know!

Great experience

Stayed at the Drury and walked over. Pleasantly surprised at how nice the restaurant is. Great food and staff. Reasonable.

Decent Food & Drinks, Good Service

By Art918 |

Decent food & drinks. Broad menu. Seemed like a local Appleby’s or Chili’s. Service was good. Enjoyed the wood fired meatloaf.

Excellent food and service

By HowIReallyFeel |

My first dining experience at Embers. The lunch portion chicken balsa was great. I took pigs something appetizer to go. We were a large group and we promptly served by two waiters. Great food and service.

Going back

By evelyn s |

We tried three different burgers and all were very good. We told our waiter that we will definitely come back to try more stuff on their menu. The Jalapeno Jack burger had a bite to it but not too spicy hot, the Pineapple Express burger was different in the sense that the burger was served in four Hawaiian sweet bread and topped with 2 slices of broiled pineapple and bacon. The classic burger was the plainest but cooked to perfection. The sandwiches came with freshly cooked french fries. The fries are salted already so if you are counting your sodium intake it might be a good idea to ask your waiter to have the cook hold off the salt.

Lovely ambiance - Mouth Watering Aromas

By Clare C |

Embers proved to be a delightful surprise after enticing us with mouth-watering aromas emanating from their restaurant. Our orders came promptly and perfectly. We noticed crowds increase in size for dinner - plan accordingly

Good lunch with friends

By Chris R |

I had the Chicken Balsa which was a good lunch size portion. It was very tasty. I was able to substitute green beans for the mashed potatoes. They were seasoned just right. I have had a burger here before and found the food to be a little too salty for my taste. But this time, they got the seasoning right on the chicken and the sides. Service was attentive and prompt. Good atmosphere.

Very fun place with a great

By tikafaith |

Very fun place with a great atmosphere! They have an outstanding happy hour for drinks that I felt were already reasonably priced. My quesadilla was a little burnt and my hubs steak was cooked a bit more than he liked but the guacamole was the best ever. Big shout out to April and Austin who are two great employees to have on a payroll. Very attentive and personable. Made the experience that much better. Got to see April again when we ordered for pickup the next night (we were staying in the hotel next door). She remembered our names. Will definitely be making a trip back to Embers the next time We visit the area!

All American Variety with wide selection of beer

Had the hamburgers - char grilled to perfection.; fries were crispy. Nice selection of draft beers, wait staff was attentive.

Terrific food and service

By Celeste M |

I had the Cajun talapia and my friend had fish tacos. Both were excellent. We had mango lemonade and strawberry lemonade which were very good. The service was excellent. Will go back soon.

Fabulous place!

By Jim D |

Just another fantastic review for Embers in Stone Oak. I want to specifically name Nicholas, our bar tender in this one. The entire staff has been FABULOUS! Nick can make some seriously good drinks. He is spot on with his service, and an enormous asset to this business. As we have, we will continue to come here. The atmosphere, the people, the staff, and food and drinks are second to none! Keep it up!

Only order the pizza

By Rick B |

A short walk from our hotel, but we should have gotten in our car and driven somewhere else. I asked our waiter about the steaks. "They are good." I asked how thick they were. "They are all at least an inch and a half." The ribeye that I received was barely a half inch when it was cooked to a medium rare. VERY disappointing. We won't go back.

A Mixed Result

By Rob Lippman |

Chose this place due to being on Rapid Rewards Dining Program. I ended up with SWA airline miles out of the mediocre meal. I generally will clear a plate if it’s decent. I left better than half on the plate when done. I ordered the dry rub ribs and chicken fingers with fries, along with a flavored iced tea. Service by Sabrina was fantastic — no faults there at all. The ribs were very tender but with the ham-handed, salt heavy dry rub they were barely edible. I only managed to get through three bones and left the rest on the plate. Even dipping in the small cup of wet sauce wasn’t very helpful. The fries were nice — but with so much saltiness on the plate from the ribs, were just very enjoyable either. The chicken fingers were the best part of the plate. The honey mustard would be amazing if you’d substitute Dijon mustard and mix with clover honey. It would transform those fingers into something glorious. The flavored teas (all four glasses) were quite welcome considering the saltiness of that rub. Hope that you take this review not as a criticism but as a way to tweak the good and improve the other. There is much potential here.

Wonderfully delicious and fabulous service

By Robert G |

How classy and delicious. The guacamole was very nice, only negative it could have used more spices / salsa. Sirloin, asparagus, and brocilli were some of the best prepared I have enjoyed. Super charcoal / grill flavor. Salmon same - perfectly seasoned and grilled. Fajita salad - huge and delicious. Great menu, TONS of draft beers. Service was fabulous. 5 star service.

Quick and surprisingly good

By MJ78239 |

Was at a conference next door did not want to drive for lunch stopped in, was seat quickly even with everyone else having the same idea. The Lunch menus was well presented and covered many tasted, the smell of the "embers" was excellent not too much like in many BBQ places but just like in Italy in a good Trattoria for wood cooked Pizza. The chicken grilled sandwich I had was outstanding and my partner loved her dish commenting on the potatoes and the green beans.

New Favorite Restaurant and Happy Hour!

By Elise J |

Frozen Jack and Coke and their happy hour is until 7:00! My husband and I have met friends here on two different occasions and service was exellent both times. You can actually visit and hear each other talk because they have a unique seating arrangement. The bar area is nice with a view of the outside and two other sections or you can sit outside with trees and a fountain and trail view. The queso and chips were very good for an appetizer. They have several others to chose from. Hamburgers and fries were moist and delicious. Our friends had the rack of ribs and grilled Salmon which they said was excellent. Wait staff was very attentive and the manager came by both times we visited to ask how everything was. Price is very reasonable.

Great find

By DownVegasTown |

We've driven by this place several times since it opened and wanted to try it as it was a wood fired place similar to one down the street that went out of business. We were there when they opened for lunch and sure enough it was similar. The fellow seating us, the wait staff and manager who came around a couple times to make sure we were enjoying our meal were all excellent. We ordered the 3 little pigs as an appetizer which fell off the bone when I was cutting up for the kids. Absolutely great snack or bar food. We split a rack of ribs and the wood fired salmon, both with sides. The food was excellent. Best of all is they have 50 beers on tap and of course I tried one. Don't remember the name but really nice. Also, they have quite a few TVs around and games were playing We will definitely be back and are thinking to go this weekend.

Friday night, busy and delicious

By P L |

My wife and I skipped the Plaza hotels supper and went downstairs to the Ember. We've traveled to San Antonio many times, but never tried the Ember. We didn't require a reservation, but it might be something to consider. No mask required. Menu was simple and easy to understand. I had the 12oz ribeye, corn and coleslaw. It was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered a wood fired Pep, pizza. She loved it. The wait staff was great. Not over officious, but there when we needed something. The menu had a wide range, so easy to satisfy a group of people with different taste. I give service a 5. I give food prep and speed a 5. I would eat there as one of my favorites in San Antonio.

Chef/Manager has no regard for food allergies! DESPERATE DUMP!

By Mama M |

Horrible experience at Embers Tap! Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Restaurant nearly empty. No host/hostess, had to go find one to be seated. Then sat at a table between the other 2 booths with patrons, which had FILTH—food, wrappers, used napkins under it. Requested to sit at a clean table—had to move ourselves. Ordered promptly, after explaining food allergies. Not dietary preferences—food ALLERGIES. Waiter claims to have verified with chef and management that their French fries were gluten free, 3 times, as the item ordered—a plain baked potato, they were out of. 30 minutes later for a burger, kids gluten free grilled cheese, a burger and salmon with fries and green beans (since they had not one gf item for kids on menu). All 3 gluten free items came piled with WHEAT BATTERED FRIES. I took one look as my kids dove in to the fries before I could even stop them—and told the waiter they were covered in the very allergen they had told me—still to this moment, were gluten free. I walked to the front and demanded the manager come address the situation and he—-who also claimed to be the “chef/culinary specialist” at Embers, came out from the kitchen. He still insisted the fries were gluten free so I asked him to see the jngredients/packaging and he took a picture of it on his phone. 2nd ingredient— “WHEAT”, with another “contains WHEAT”, on the bottom of the list in bold as is required by law. He looked right at me and said “it don’t say anything about gluten on here”. I looked right back at him and said “you are running a restaurant/making food to serve humans in 2024 and you don’t know what gluten is”? To which he blankly stated “no, I don’t. I’m sorry”. I explained that wheat IS GLUTEN, and told him now you do—but that it is dangeous and unlawful to knowingly serve any of the top 9 allergens to unknowing customers who state they have an FOOD ALLERGY and that as a restaurant it is their job to be aware of what is in the food they are serving people! I told him we could not eat the food and was still charged $13 for a plain kids grilled cheese topped with allergen containing fries covering it—for a adult “avocado chicken sandwich” on my bill! Plus charged $15 for a kids burger—again as there was nothing on the $6 kids menu my kids with Celiac could eat—which the side that came with it was gluten containing fries! Owner wasn’t available, was given GM phone to call the next day at the restaurant. Left with 3 hungry kids to go back to hotel in adjacent parking lot to order takeout from elsewhere, which was safer than eating at this sit-down dump! If you have food allergies—DO NOT DINE HERE!! These people absolutely DO NOT CARE and violate federal law in discriminating against those millions of us that do! Plus it’s dirty, sticky and not one employee will even get a broom to clean up prior diners’ messes before they seat you! This place should be shut down. Filing a credit card claim for my refund for the food we couldn’t eat. Also reporting for their violation of food safety practices under federal law. Desperate DUMP.

Impressive food and drinks I love the wood fire smell great service family atmosphere or a great date night very open

Great Ribs!

By David H |

We enjoyed an excellent lunch at Embers. My wife tried the ribs and they were amazing ... so tender and juicy that they literally fell of the bone, with a very good barbecue sauce. I tried the “3 little pigs” pork shank ... also tender and deliciously flavored, topped with a raspberry compote for just the right sweetness. Our daughter went for the salmon, cooked just right. The sides were also very good. We will return!!!

One of our best restaurant experiences in San Antonio

By Evan C |

I've seen restaurants come and go in this location and wondered why this one seems to be succeeding, so I decided to give it a try. Can't believe people aren't talking about this place more! Service from the hostess to the waitress to the manager (who made a visit to each table in the area during our meal) was outstanding. The server made excellent recommendations too. The bartender mixed up some great cocktails, the chips and homemade guacamole appetizer was amazing, and best of all the ribs were literally some of the best I've had in a long time, fall off the bone! The atmosphere was warm and inviting... nect time we will try out the back outdoor patio where they sport misting fans and heating lamps and a pit fire (neither of these were on since it's summer time), but the misting fans were nice. The price was very reasonable, won't break the bank and just right for what you get. A definite return location!

Great food; great value

By Noel78 |

We choose this lunch spot because it was walking distance from the Drury Plaza Hotel across the parking lot. What a delicious lunch we had! Turkey burger—moist and excellent and fish tacos cooked to perfection. Also, the noise level was very low when we were there, so we were able to have conversation. We spoke to several people at a conference who stayed on our hotel, and they reported having multiple good meals at Embers during their stay at the Drury near-by. Recommended.

Moderately good food and moderately priced

By TexasRaf |

The food was good and the prices reasonable. The wait staff was attentive. We had pizza; it was good as well, but not great.

Lunch

By Ray02rodriguez |

A friend recommended this place so we went for lunch. Lunch specials end at 3:00 pm. Friendly staff and we asked for recommendations. Our waitress recommended the three pigs which was pork deep fried in a raspberry chipotle sauce as an appetizer. My wife had a small cheese pizza and I ordered meat street tacos. Tacos were small but tasty due to the sriracha sauce. Pizza was cooked in open wood oven. Service was great and prices were good. Selection of lunch items were good.

Ill be back!

I was in town visiting some friends and didnt want something I couldn't find back home. The front desk of the hotel I'm staying at recommended this place And she wasn't wrong this place was absolutely fantastic I'll definitely be back again

Great Service, great food

Jace A. was a terrific server. This was our first time here and he was very patient with us to tell us about the menu, their wines and beers. The pizza's were wonderful, wood fired.

Relaxing Hideaway

By livluvmza |

This restaurant was recommended by a friend to me. Located just off the highway, this restaurant showcases a great patio with a wonderful view, you won’t even realize the highway is right there. The beer selection is wide and worldly. Most of the food is cooked on a open grill or in their wood fire oven, and staff was attentive. If you have a gluten allergy this place has amazing gluten free pizza.

Best birthday lunch ever

By Dr Y |

Embers has always provided tasty food - they’re consistent, food has always been well prepared and served hot, and the service has been very good. This time I must say that the service was great (thanks Maddie, you are awesome!). We were there to celebrate a 52nd birthday. Not all who were invited showed (about 21 out of 30) but we were never rushed, and our server anticipated everything perfectly - from drink refills to checking in with the multiple tables in our party. The combination of really good food and Maddie (the best server ever), made this a great birthday celebration. Thanks Embers - for finding and keeping excellent staff that represent you well. Please don’t change you’re recipes - everything is done just right and you’re consistent - I know what I’m going to get when we choose your restaurant. Some friends of ours said that they hadn’t been there before and added that they’ve now found a new place for themselves and their family. Thank you, Embers - for living up to my expectations!

Very solid restaurant with awesome outdoor patio space

By GoHeels1993 |

Fantastic wood fired pizzas and most everything else we had was surprisingly well done...as we just had not heard much about this place since it opened. We will certainly return and take advantage of cooler weather on the covered patio which has a really nice set-up out back.

Not my first Embers trip or review

By DownVegasTown |

We were out running around on Labor Day and decided to stop in for lunch. I love this place for several reasons: 50 (I think) beers on tap, great smoked flavor, super staff and most of all, they will always change channels to Nick Jr or Disney for our 3 1/2 yo twins. This trip we started with the 3 little pigs for an appetizer and to get food going for the kids. We ordered the Cajun seafood and a half rack of dry rub ribs; both come with two sides. Also ordered chicken tenders for the kiddos. My wife always orders and loves the Cajun seafood and the ribs were fall off the bone amazing. Flavor was even better. Unfortunately I filled up on the 3 little pigs and baked potato side that came with the ribs before tasting the ribs. Unfortunate in that the ribs were so good I over indulged. Yes I would do it again. As my appetizer, I had the BUSTED SANDAL FINDING FRIDAY draft beer to get me started followed by a second. There are so many good beers, I try a new one each time. I find the food reasonably priced, staff very nice and accommodating to our little ones and everything we have ordered very tasty.

Good food, Poor service

By texan020 |

The pizza was delicious. The order was for carry out and I was less than impressed with the staff. Didn’t want to help, left small items out of the prepared ordered, but luckily I checked before walking out. They acted too busy to rectify their mistakes, pawning me off on other people. They didn’t want to print me out a receipt for my order. Oh, and don’t place your online order through this app- they use a third party and charge an extra $1, and it could easily be done without them.

This is a good place

By wjb2613 |

This is in the same lot as the Drury Plaza Hotel where I stayed for one night. I got takeout from Embers and it was awesome. Margarita pizza and chips and queso. When I walked in I saw tables of 4 people enjoying wine so looks like a place people go for a nice dinner. It's actually a craft beer bar, they have a lot of good craft beer selections. The place smells great and had I stayed for a week I could have easily ate lunch and dinner here every day.

Bad service

By Alma |

Decided to go have dinner there and my mistake was sitting in the bar area. Was seated quickly and bartender came quickly and had a drink seconds later. She gave me time to look at the menu and I was to give a sign. Made eye contact a few times but she was to busy talking to the regulars finally she came and got my order. It came out very quickly and was very good she checked with me once more then nothing. I had been done for about 5 to 10 minutes trying to get her attention so that I could pay my bill and finally had to go to the bar to pay. The food alone was great but service in the bar sucked!!!!!!!!

Love the "3 little pigs"

By flksfhtx |

Our group enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and good service. I ordered the 3 little pig app to share and they were so good I ordered the dinner portion for my main meal. By the looks of all the "happy plates", the other dishes were just as good. In addition, they do have a woodfired brick oven for those that like pizza. BTW, the mixed drinks are very good!

Thanks to Waiter Juan and Bartender Nicolas for an exceptional evening with our friends in San Antonio. The drinks were perfectly crafted and the attentive service made the evening special. We share the “3 little pigs” pork shanks and a wonderful Pineapple Express Burger

A nightcap

By Thom e |

Went there after visiting family for a beer. What's impressive is the tap wall. Watching tail end of a football game over a draft and sampled some shots of other tap beers till I got one that was very good and drank a mug of it too. Son in law ate a huge pizza that was stone grilled there. Very clean and nice. Would have liked to do supper there

It taste as good as it smells

By P L |

Great steak, pizza and service. We had free supper at the hotel but remembered our last visit and couldn't help but walk over and taste how good it smelled.

Excellent drinks and attentive bartender

By dihnontourist |

Really enjoyed stopping by for drinks here late one evening. Ordered a draft beer and a cocktail as well as one of their wood-fired pizzas. The drinks tasted great as did the pizza (perfect crust!) Loved the ambiance of this place: great decor, doors open onto the patio (it was a warm evening) with additional tables outside. Manager (I think) came over several times to ensure that we were taken care of... as did the server. Very attentive and friendly staff. A great place for after-work drinks!
