Fab Irish pub!

By Rhona K |

Lovely Irish pub run by an Irish manager & owner. Food was excellent and also the drinks. All the staff were very polite and professional. Highly recommend this pub if visiting Chicago.

Nice meal but watch the bill

By TheGatesClan |

Went here while in Chicago for business. Irish breakfast was nice but service was poor and extra drinks were added to bill that we didn’t order. Seemed a little suspect, read tourist con. Just double check your tab before paying.

Best brisket in Chicago

By Lou C |

They have the best brisket i have maybe ever had. $50 for two dinners with a peach cobbler for dessert in Chicago? Yes it is real! Also had the candies bacon and kettle fries! Wow. And above average french onion soup. Stop looking at $100+ steakhouses and go to the Emerald Loop!

Great place for Saint Patricks Day

By Jeanne M |

Good Irish food and Magners on tap. Stop there every trip to Chicago for bangers and mash or fish and chips.

Pleasent surprise

By C M |

We arrived late one night and didn't know where to go, the lady at the front desk of our hotel told us that this place would still have an open kitchen. We were expecting crappy bar food - but it was so good. Elevated Irish comfort food on a cold winter night. Place had a great vibe. Low lit, people partying, couples, work parties, bro's watching a game. Drinks were good. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portions. Our waitress seemed shy but she was very nice, and attentive. We would never found it on our own. We went back a second time during our trip and service and food were consistent. It is on our schedule for our next trip to the city.

Shepard's pie was great

By spfldeater |

When there to watch tv and get a beer and food . Service was great at the bar . Beer reasonable priced . Had the Shepard's pie and it was exceptional.

After theater find

By Jdmay29 |

My friend and I had an early dinner after seeing a play this week. We arrived around 4:30 to a largely empty restaurant, but it was very crowded when we were leaving. And we were very pleased with the sound level. Conversation was never difficult. Quite a nice menu. Drinks, beers, wines all plentiful. Food was delicious. We has a seafood curry and the fish and chips. I’d definitely visit again when I’m in the area.

Excellent vegan burger!

By Struthyvegan |

So in an attempt to eat a full on vegan meal I traipsed around Chicago early morning in search of a fat option for Sunday Dinner. Upon observing the Beyond Meat burger on the placard outside the Emerald Loop, I resolved to return later. I wasn’t disappointed. The service (Katie) was excellent. The value for money was very pleasing and the food great! The burger tasted tremendous and was served within 15 minutes. With skin on fries and pickle on the side, it really was great. So glad I came in and really recommend this place. The Bloody Mary was extremely spicy (upon request) and for a dollar more came with a beer back. This, I learned, is a little bottle of beer 👍🏻😂. Ace! They have loads of TVs for sport and plenty of seating. Loved it!

Great place and great food

By bobbyjo47 |

We visited here for breakfast and an evening meal. Breakfast on a weekend is a buffet. Plenty to choose from..omelettes, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurts and croissants. All fresh & delish. Evening meals are the usual pub food- burgers, fish and chips, wraps etc. You can look at the menu online. There is a massive list of things to choose from. The food is quick served, and really lovely. Reasonably priced. There’s a huge range of drinks too. It’s central in the city, in a good area and a nice atmosphere when you get in. There’s tv’s all around for the sports fans too. Well worth a visit

Thumb Up

By Joaquindapark |

I find it very hard to find excellent chicken wings. If you like wings, this place knows what they are doing. Cooked just so, not dry, moist. I chose the Guinness BBQ sauce. Tell me that doesn’t sound like the cat’s meow. Dessert was a delicious bread pudding...just not fair. I went for a hockey game and got excellence all around. Way to go!

Luck o' the Irish to Ye!

By DrSeussie |

We visited Emerald Loop on St. Patrick's Day evening. Surprisingly, our wait was minimal and the service was great. Our server recommended the macaroni with brisket, which arrived fatty and unappealing. He quickly offered to replace the meal with one that was spectacular. My husband enjoyed the shepherd's pie, which was a generous helping of traditional fare. Try this pub out for a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and great service.

If you’re Irish.. avoid

By Taylor B |

We were informed this was the place to go if you were an Irish person looking for a good pint and grub. Safe to say I will not be returning. Easily a 2/10. The staff were rude, no attentiveness at all. Food was okay nothing amazing. I ordered a pint of Guinness and couldn’t drink it - not that I was expecting much but I was disappointed. $70 for 2 pints and some fries and boneless chicken wings was a costly Thursday night meal.

Great meal before a show!

By Illini1982 |

My wife and I attended a show at the Chicago Theatre on a Saturday night. We are big "users" of TripAdvisor, so were looking for a place near the theatre for pre-show meal and drinks. I wanted someplace where I knew we could get in and out in time. I read the reviews and it appeared they had a nice assortment of appetizers and bar food. Some said the bar area was very loud. We arrived and noticed the place is larger than I expected. The Chicago Theatre is less than 2 blocks away, so the location was perfect. We had reservations through Open Table. The bar area is large and it was a bit noisy, but certainly nothing unexpected for 6:15 on a Saturday night. We had a small table around the corner. It was cozy, but nice. Now, to the important info....the food. We ordered nachos....we almost always get chicken on them, but my wife wanted to try the brisket instead. The nachos were AMAZING. There was plenty of brisket on them, beans of various types, cheese, some tomatoes, jalapenos...the normal stuff. Often, when we order nachos there are a lot of chips and not enough meat/other items. Not the case here...we almost needed more chips! The brisket was okay...some of it was fatty, but the other ingredients were spectacular. They came out within 5 minutes. Easily....they would have been enough of a meal for the two of us. Our waitress, Lexie, was fabulous. She was very attentive, despite the place being packed. We were concerned about what else to order. She recommended the Buffalo Bird Mac & Cheese. It was fantastic. Three people stopped by to ask us what it was...I've included a picture. We barely ate any, we were so full from the nachos. I would definitely recommend only ordering one entree if you order the nachos. We had 3/4 of the Buffalo Mac & Cheese left over--it warmed up nicely the next day. So, overall, we were pleasantly pleased with Emerald Loop. It is a block away from the Chicago River, so it has a great location. My wife and I will definitely be back....take a chance and stop in!

Drinks were just okay

By Carlo F |

This place was fairly busy and lively post-marathon. It's well located near many attractions and the financial district. We only ordered drinks which were standard pub offerings. I opted for a margarita which was just ok. Unfortunately the server spilled 1/4 of it and served it as it was.

This Irish – themed but not

By PrairieManIllinois |

This Irish – themed but not really Irish bar has four-star pub food but three star service, on purpose. The ambience isn’t much unless you like crowded, noisy places. They’re eager to get you in and get you seated, and take your order, but then it’s pretty much “servers”. If you want a Smithwick’s plan on paying $10.50 or so, steep even for nicer Loop taverns.

Happy hour

By Mary |

We visited this restaurant before going to the Chicago Theater. We were there for happy hour and enjoyed the flat bread special, fried pickles and a bucket of beer. Thought the price was reasonable.

Great sports bar in Chicago

By Berniewendy |

We were looking for place that shows the Seahawks vs Raiders on tv and Emerald Bar Loop and Grill took the time to find us a private spot so could watch the game. The service was awesome, our waitress Carmel explained the Irish breakfast and shepherds pie. Carmel was also very friendly. Food comes in big portions so bring your appetite. If ever in Chicago and looking for a great sports bar this is it. Ask for Carmel too.

Great Place and Great Food

By Guido F |

Food, Service and Atmosphere was great. Accommodated our business group of 7 without any issues. I will recommend this restaurant and will visit again.

Poor food, decent service

By Steph W |

Weekend in Chicago for the marathon so popped in as it was close to the hotel. Seated at the very back of the restaurant which actually helped reduce some of the noise and was never forgotten by the staff. Food however was extremely disappointing. Asked for vegan burger without cheese which arrived promptly covered in cheese. Replaced instantly with new burger although the soggy bun could not be eaten. Had to confirm with staff that this was the vegan burger as the patty looked, smelt and tasted of meat. Not what you want as a vegetarian. The ketchup fizzed as the bottle was opened and the salt was stuck together where water had obviously got in to the shaker. Other members of the group had the bangers and mash - both plain and unexciting, could have produced better at home myself. Overall - would not recommend food at all but service was good.

Great Irish Pub

By John W |

Great Irish pub with very good quality bar food, excellent / friendly service. Excellent corned beef sliders, Irish curry chips and curried clam and potato showder. Wide selection of Irish and local beers and wiskey with lively but not too loud of music in the background.

Smoked Brisket

By Rebecca Y |

The smoked brisket with mac & cheese, cole slaw, and corn bread was a filling and tasty meal. The beer selections isn't huge, but there were some local brews on the list. I found Allagash White, a reminder of home.

Hearty fare

By MCITiger |

My wife and I decided to have dinner near our hotel. Emerald Loop intrigued us. I drank Magners apple cider and had the brisket. Brisket is served with close slaw (creamy), mac and cheese, corn bread and a Guiness-based barbecue sauce. Huge serving. We’re from Kansas City, so we set high standards for brisket. This was fork-tender. My wife had fish and chips and a cocktail. Really a very good dinner.

Not a good customer experience

By LON |

Pretty poor place to visit! Servers fighting over sections, storming off in front of customers, manager taken wrong order and for the price the nachos were pretty crap too! For an Irish person coming into a so called Irish bar/restaurant it was definitely not something I’d reccomend.

Great restirant

By Aaron D |

Fun friendly atmosphere. Big portions good price. We stayed right across at a hotel and was easy to walk in with no reservation

Good food, good services

By Valerie |

The food was good. How can you go wrong with brisket and mac & cheese? The server was knowledgeable and professional. It was a bit loud, but it was a Friday night, so more of a younger, just getting off work crowd. However, would definitely go there again.

Nice bar

By Tim H |

Stopped in for a quick late night snack and drinks. Service was good and food well prepared. It's a bar scene so it was loud but we would go again.

Acoustic Nightmare with average food

By Unrepentant Fenian |

Tried to enjoy what turned out to be average meals all around in an establishment that was so loud we could not hear one another across the high top where we were seated. I suppose it’s a lot to expect an Irish pub to have good food but for the above average prices they could have done much better. Specifically stay away from the the Fish & Chips as well as the popcorn shrimp appetizer. Sadly disappointed in this Chicago Irish pub.

NYE pint

By Denis M |

Nice friendly bar for New Year’s Eve. Great fun and a great pint of Guinness. Food is good to and ideally located to downtown hotels

Its alright

By Ishootforthegram |

We had just arrived in Chicago and were given a free app coupon from our hotel. We decided to try it out. We were sat in a corner table facing the window. We did not get helped until almost 20 minutes of sitting there when another customer told a waitress that we had been waiting very patiently. We ordered the nachos(very bad nachos, than again its an irish bar) I had a bleu burger was very disappointing the bun was stale, the cheese was almost non existent, the wife had the mac and cheese with chicken... the chicken was not cooked thoroughly was still pink and had almost no flavor. We did not send it back due to the wait times. The waitress was very nice she did say she was new maybe that would help.

Great Late Night Find

By Jennifer B |

Stopped in for a late night dinner after most spots in the area had closed. The food was very good and the service was quick despite the packed patio. Will definitely be back.

A great atmosphere

By K848 |

We stopped by to grab a drink here and were lucky enough to find chairs to sit on - it was absolutely packed. There was a great atmosphere and the servers were super friendly. Would definitely stop by for a meal next time I'm in the city as the food looked really good!

Great Food & Atmosphere

By Rob W |

Our group was wondering around downtown recently and we were all hungry and parched and thought that some food and drinks sounded like a great plan. We stopped into the Emerald Loop because a friend had recommended it to us and she often goes there after work. Our overall opinion was that The Loop is awesome! It's a good mix of cool City locals and tourists who are taking in the sights. We were seated quickly and our attentive server made sure that refreshing beverages were on our table in no time. They had a pretty extensive menu, but several of us ordered their burgers in various configurations, and we all agreed that they were excellent! Time flew by and we all had a great time. What a wonderful evening, and we will be back soon!

Visitors from Ireland & Canada

By Kevin M |

What a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, the staff were so friendly , the manager Conor went out of his way to accommodate our group. A truly wonderful place to visit while in Chicago with great staff & a superb all day Irish Breakfast. The Guinness was excellent and served in real Pint Glasses. I would definitely recommend this fine establishment if you are looking for a True Irish experience while in the Windy City!

Fabulous service

By belinda m |

Great service received here for our family. Very accepting of having the kids there on a busy afternoon. Drinks were refreshing and the waitress was very friendly. Snacks were also cheap and delicious. Highly recommend the quisedias. Happy hour late afternoon don't miss It!

Sangriaaa!

By Jordy M |

I thought this place was great! I loved the sangria, my friends and I just shared a variety of appetisers and the sizes were great!

Great Atmosphere

By Maureen A |

We had a delicious lunch at the Emerald Loop. Our server Katie was wonderful! She made us feel like we were the only costumers there. Everyone working at the Emerald Loop was so friendly. I will definitely dine and drink there again!

Good atmosphere and ok in a pinch. Great location

By armyfamily1 |

It was ok. Service was good, with little to no wait. Chips, salsa, and guacamole were great. Accuracy of meal orders needs a lot of improvement

Excellent pub food!

By JCgolf9 |

We stopped by for a few appetizers and drinks. It was very good! We had a pretzel, chicken quesadilla and poutine. The service was a little slow, but everyone around us seemed very happy with their selections and everything we saw was very well presented. The TVs were tuned into multiple sports to suit multiple tastes including MLB playoff, college football and NHL. Fun place and

Come for the drinks and apps

By Mike P |

I think this would be a great place for drinks and appetizers. I'm not so sure about meals though. We came late night after the theater and got seated promptly (always good) with a reservation. The place was hopping and vibrant with a fun crowd. We ordered a corned beef sandwich and fish-n-chips which we figured should be top of the menu choices for an Irish bar. Sandwich was good but not packed with meat - however the corned beef was a brisket and not your shaved pilings. The fish-n-chips were good but a bit greasy. It would have been outstanding if the cod was thicker and less breading, but the balance was more toward the breading and fryer.

Great Irish Pub

By cabjohnson |

Largest Irish whiskey list I have ever seen and Smithwicks on tap. Lots of TV's and great food. Large place so shouldn't have trouble getting a seat.

St Patrick’s Day

By Christina |

Yum!!!! I was in Chicago alone for St Patrick’s Day and knew I wanted a great experience for the day! Emerald Loop delivered!! I had the best shepherds pie!!! Totally authentic and amazing!!! The staff was great and welcoming. Thank you.

Irish bar

By Christine R |

Staff pleasant and friendly but as an Irish person this is no way an irish bar but still a good pub

fastest service experienced in chicago

By Jen r |

cute Irish bar! Sat down immediately, server came over immidiately , was refreshingly very friendly . We got mojitos that were very good!

Great pub food!

By Minika B |

My husband and I stopped by here for a late dinner after getting in late from the airport. Steve greeted us quickly with some water and our other drinks and dinner followed shortly. We both got the Mac and cheese, which was perfect on a chilly night. We probably shouldn’t have, but ordered the molten lava cake. Delicious. Overall great food and service.

Can’t get a regular glass

By Bridget |

Can’t get a regular glass of ice water, have to purchase a bottle. Nestle, not even a good brand. I imagine that’s their way of earning more money. Waiter was a little rude and there was a rat on the patio. Owner didn’t seem to care.

Great place to hang out for late night food and drinks!

By Speed24601 |

This place is just about a block and a half off the RiverWalk on the South part of the Chicago River down Wabash. I was in town for a wedding and was looking for something late night when the festivities were winding down. The Emerald did not disappoint. I was there on a Saturday night, so things were open a bit later. Kristian was my bartender and was super friendly and welcoming. Made me feel like a regular. If you know Chicago, you most likely know Malort, and there were a couple shots of those followed by several draft beers. I was just looking for a late-night pub before heading back to the hotel and this place was great. Although I didn’t eat on this trip, I did look over the menu and it seemed to feature the traditional, as well as several more eclectic items. If I had more time, I’d definitely have dinner here. Go in, check it out. It’s a very nice place with a great bar and menu. I can’t imagine anyone not having a great time there!

Decent place

By Peter M |

Visited early evening for few drinks and nachos, nice sitting outside. Service excellent with all staff very friendly

So. Much. Food.

By Kristine SB |

My colleague and I stopped here for lunch. I ordered the smoked brisket and it came with mac n cheese, coleslaw, cornbread and peach cobbler. Honestly, it could feed more than one person. The meat was smoked to perfection!

Best bar in Chicago

By Col Sydney |

I travelled solo with work to Chicago. We visited a few local bars and then I stumbled on the Loop myself. Was made to feel at home straight away. Had one or two whiskeys with the Barman - he was an exceptional host - gave me the inside scoop on the city and then I had one or two more. Brilliant night and look forward to getting back one day. Checked my wallet the next day and there was way more money than expected in there. If you’re Irish and visiting or just want that genuine Irish hospitality you have to stop in. Great bars make great cities and look forward to doing it all again. Hope you enjoyed Katie’s win in New York too.

Awful awful awful..

By Mary H |

Awful awful awful.. my husband got some kind of seafood dish that he couldn’t hardly tell what was seafood..and I got a chicken salad that was like they cut of half a head of lettuce and three on some serious hot sauce that I could barely eat! It was a waste of money! used as fillers he couldn’t tell what he was eating.. and I got a salad

Great food

By Pmikos |

I had the grilled veggie salad. It was amazing. My husband had the BLT with tater tots. The taster tots were so crispy. The atmosphere was friendly and casual. This would b3 a great place to watch a Bears game!

Great Irish Pub

By Mellam |

Ate here a few times. Wonderful Sunday brunch. All you can eat for $13!! A bargain!! Had dinner here as well, also very good.

A gem of a find

By Jane A |

We were only in Chicago for a couple of days but so glad we found this place, food excellent (try their hot dogs!) ambience lovely but mostly it was the staff - so friendly and chatty, eager to ask us about ourselves and our holiday plans and suggesting places to visit whilst we were there, would definitely recommend x

Grilled salmon.

By DJ |

A good restaurant for lunch and dinner with the beautiful view of downtown Chicago. Excellent food service and quality.

Very nice service

By Larissa C |

Loved this place to have dinner, beer and relax with my husband. Great location and very nice service! Food was good too!

Good pub food, very reasonable prices

By Mark S |

I ate at the pub four times this week (it is across from my hotel). All four meals were very good. Nothing adventurous, just good pub food. If you order the specials, it goes from reasonable to downright cheap for dinner.

Huge Portions

By Hannah H |

My wife and I dined here because it was close to our hotel and had relatively good reviews. For a start, we split a field green salad. It came in a very large bowl. The fresh greens were good and were accompanied by cross section slices of red and green peppers, grape tomatoes and sliced red onion. The raspberry sesame dressing was good. We could have shared our salad with two more people. I enjoyed the fish and chips, a large portion of battered fish and way too many, but good, fries. The tartar sauce and cole slaw had too much mayo. I left about one quarter of the fish uneaten. My wife enjoyed the Shepherd’s Pie, which came in a rectangular dish that probably measured 8 by 4 by 2 inches (I didn’t have a ruler). It was good, but enough to share with several people. Waiter was good and chatty.

Good Pub

By CaptMancuso |

We stopped the Emerald several times over the course of several days, so this review is an amalgamation of reviews. Overall this was a very good pub. We got drinks and food on separate occasions and the location was key (close to our hotel). The food is average bar fare but perfectly acceptable. The service was decent on most visits but on one day we arrived after the lunch rush and they were not on their game. That can happen in any restaurant but it shouldn't. The place pretends to be an Irish pub but like most places that pretend to be a real pub, they don't quite pull it off.. That doesn't mean it's a bad place, it just means it isn't a real Irish pub. If you're looking for a few pints and maybe some comfort food, this place will fill the need nicely. The place is a bit loud at times but it's a fairly large bar.

Disappointed

By Grablinmathrules |

We were there for a quick dinner prior to a beer fest. It was loud and we were seated at a high top table. The seats had no back and after a while they were uncomfortable. My husband got the fish fry and I had the Buffalo chicken wrap. The only problem he had was that the fish fry came on a wooden board and the fish kept falling off. I did not like the wrap. Something was not right with the chicken and the Buffalo sauce was just tobasco. Will probably not be back.

Great place

By Rick H |

Good Irish Pub. Great food, clean, friendly wait staff, and visually very pleasing. They have a good happy hour and a nice selection of beers.

Must go to... great bar/restaurant

By Gertie1737 |

Someone recommended the Emerald loop to us and we gave it a try! Food was amazing,,we had the bangers and mashed potatoes & shephard pie . Delicious.! Service was great and the manager is hands on and very welcoming.

Disappointed and embarrassed

By David R |

I am Irish, visiting Chicago with my Filipino partner. After a full day on the very enjoyable tourist trail, we needed some sustenance. We came across the Emerald Loop bar and decided to try it. The place was busy, we were directed to a table by a a very friendly staff member. I ordered the fish and chips and a pint, my partner ordered buffalo wings and a soft drink. All good so far. The food arrived after about Fifteen mins. The fish and chips were excellent, when my partner cut into the chicken wings there was still blood on the chicken. I called the waiter over, at first he tried to pass it off as sinu, but on further inspection he seen the problem and offered to replace the wings. So a meal for two became a meal for one as I had to eat by myself. It took an eternity to replace the wings, on several times we were rather condensendly advised that the delay was because they were cooking them for longer this time. Big deal. The wings appeared after about half an hour, firmley putting us troublesom customers in our palace. This time no blood. I cannot say that the second offering was freshly cooked or not, but I have my suspicions. The bottom line here Is blood on chicken is unacceptable and dangerous. I asked for the bill, and was amused that the house should suggest how much we should tip the staff. When will American business understand that the tip is a act of apprication of the staff by the customer, not an entitlement. The Emerald Loop Bar brands itself as Irish, defecto making a link with my country. Tonight I was embarrassed and disappointed by the service that I and my non Irish partner received.

Huge disappointment

By jamiemcpa |

I was staying right around the corner and was craving a nice juicy burger. I found one on the room service menu but try to avoid hotel food when possible. I was excited to discover The Emerald Loop. Unfortunately, the food was not any better than most hotel food I have had in the past. Burger was dry, even though it was supposed to have bbq sauce. Onion straws were soggy and very few were on the burger. GREATLY disappointed.

Avoid, awful experience.

By Arvind V |

Disappointed. Very poor service We sat at an outside table on a warm sunny day hoping to have some drinks and lunch. The table was dirty with pieces of chicken stuck in the grooves of the table. Nobody came to clean the table. We were not offered any water. After 15 minutes we were asked about drinks and gave our order. These arrived about 10 minutes later. Only when we had nearly finished these were we asked if we wanted any food. Meanwhile other tables received drinks promptly as well as food quickly. The owner/manager asked us several times if we had ordered but at no point offered to serve us himself, even though he did with a number of other tables. Hopeless management!

Business Trip

By Shena |

Went with my husband who was in Chicago on business. Got there at 5:57pm - happy hour ended at 6 yet server wouldn’t give us special. The poutine was fantastic. Black and blue burger was not that great - the bottom bun broke due to a watery tomato. Mac and cheese was pretty good and sandwich and soup was odd. Decent atmosphere but food lacking flavor.

Good food, lackluster service

By retrorabbit66 |

We went here for an early dinner prior to a show at Chicago Theatre. There were lots of delicious options for drinks and food, and we loved everything we had. However, the service was abysmally slow. We happened to be seated next to the server station and we watched lots of staff literally just walking to and fro - nothing in their hands, not delivering food, not wiping tables, not doing anything but appearing to be busy. The only person to stop by was a bus boy who tried to take our plates when we were still waiting to get a box. We boxed everything up, then continued to sit. Again, no one until the bus boy came by again for our plates. We had to finally flag someone down to get our bill and pay. Definitely worth is for the food but only go if you've got time to dawdle.

Great food the price.

By John S |

We enjoyed our meal here. We ate on patio an had nachos an guac and huge pretzel. For $19.00 you can get a bucket of 5 beers Wich is a bargin in area. Server was wonderful and food good. We could hardly finish all the food and the prices were good.

Good

By Alex |

I liked this place. Very tasty. Good service and very nice location. Portions are large. They have beer, wine, strong alcohol and cocktails.

Great Atmosphere

By Nathan J |

I loved the tv’s and location for our tour oof the beautiful architecture of Chicago. The Pub Nachos are reasonable.

Excellent breakfast buffet on weekends!

By Deucette |

Stayed about a block away from this restaurant & had breakfast buffet both Saturday & Sunday & was excellent! Had a coupon from our hotel for free mimosas too. The omelets made on the spot in front of you were absolutely awesome! Breakfast Buffet is $13 which we found out was a pretty decent price for Chicago because their food is pretty pricey.

Dinner with my wife.

By MNrocks |

This restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel. My wife and I had a lovely dinner there. We enjoyed the IPAs that were on tap and we both had salads that were excellent.

Out if this world

By Suburbanvisitor |

My wife and I had the extreme please of have one of the best Irish dinners at the Emerald Loop while staying for a theater weekend. Not only did I enjoy the best corned beef and cabbage I have ever had but the fish and chips dinner was outstanding also. Our waitress Clodagh was so friendly and helpful as well as being on top of our every need. The manager was on site waking around and making sure everyone was have a great dining experience. This things are rare sometimes but greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back and I would recommend The Emerald Loop Bar and Grill to anyone who is looking for a great dinner and wonderful dinning experience.

Nice

By Robert M |

Decent bar food. Good beer. Nice staff. Lots of people. Clean. Shepard s pie was huge but dry. Chicken special was large.

Afternoon lunch

By SarahJane519 |

Stopped on for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Perfect Moscow mule. Roasted tomato bisque was fabulous. Flavorful. Goat cheese pear chicken salad was amazing. They offer a lot of good food selections. Food was fresh, flavorful. Will definitely return in the future for a few other dishes. Nice ambience, staff. Clean restaurant.

Great stop on our weekend in Chicago

By Tracy S |

Stopped here randomly and sat outside, had a great waitress and an excellent guinness pour! Husband had the shepherds pie which was huge, much larger than we get at home at our local Irish pub. But it was made with beef, not lamb, but he enjoyed it. I got an amazing special a pork schnitzel sandwich. If it's on the menu get it! Overall a great stop during our weekend in Chicago.

Would not return to eat.

By yesimallpacked |

Chose here day 1 of Chicago stay for lunch as it was close to hotel. The setting itself is fine...large, bright from large windows. Staff were ok, but service was not good. A long time waiting for order to be taken, for drinks to arrive etc. Also, the food was blasé. I had a blue cheese burger and it was very unremarkable. Friend had bangers and mash and it was also bland. With so many great restaurants in this city, one doesn’t like to “waste” a meal choice. Good selection of beers on tap.

A good spot

By Stu |

We arrived to a very busy bar filled with Irish rugby fans but got a seat at the bar. Despite it being so busy Jasmine behind the bar was amazing. We never had to wait for a drink even though she was so busy. A great spot for food and drink and the staff were very friendly.

Amazing food!

By SHANNON M |

We arrived late into Chicago and were starving. This restaurant was walking distance and was recommended by the front desk. We dined during covid so we had to sit outside but they had the propane heaters cranked up. The service and food were phenomenal! No issues with anything.

Perfect Sports Bar / Irish Pub ....

By David K |

We visited the Emerald Loop one evening while walking near the London House Hotel. Seated at the bar, Patrick our bartender was great at his craft and made excellent food and drink suggestions. The BBQ Chicken flatbread along with the Irish brown bread was perfect. Thanks... will visit again when we return to Chicago.

Good food, comfortable feel, and friendly staff

By S D |

I stopped in this restaurant twice over three days. We were staying in the North Loop during the blizzard snow/frigid cold and wanted a place close to our hotel. Lucky for us, this place was fantastic. My bestie and I split he Sweet Chicken Sriracha wrap with fries and it was delicious, fresh, and the perfect serving size. The Aperol Spritzes we drank were lovely as well. The second time we tried the Chicken and Bacon wrap with fries. Again, delicious. The service both times was attentive and friendly. The place was toasty warm even with the crazy cold outside. The music was a perfect volume--we could hear it but not be distracted by it. I plan to visit this place again. Well done!

Really delicious & innovative food - who'd have thought curried walnuts in a chicken salad would be sublime! Even the main course side dishes were outstanding - mac & cheese, cornbread and peach cobbler. Our server was super friendly & fun, it's just a shame that our main courses were delivered before we'd had chance to finish appetisers, making us feel rushed.

nice place to unwind on a Friday night

By Ted F |

I had just gotten off work and met my wife and we went looking for a place to have a drink and grub. We walked along Wacker and started down Wabash and my wife saw Emerald Loop and it looked inviting. We went in and there was live music and we got a table right away. We both had Revolution's Octoberfest beer. Drinking in the music and the beer, great way to start a Friday night. We had the cheese curds for an appetizer and another round of beers. I had the greek chicken wrap and my wife had the southwestern salad. Both were delicious, with yet another round of beer. And we finished the dinner off with Irish coffee. We were there for a good two hours and then went along to our jazz concert. Emerald Loop is a good place for beer and good grub. The atmosphere and ambiance are great.

Great food

By Angela E |

We were in town for St. Patty's Day and was lucky enough to not have to wait in a line to get in for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was very good. Never had to wait on my green beer!

Excellent ambiance, service, food & drinks, Congratulations !!!

By KDJ |

Dining on a sidewalk, very COVID-19 risk conscious, great music, excellent selection of food and beverages, unparalleled service, decent prices... What else can one want during these aufull COVID-19 times?? My wife and myself were really impressed by the positive, go-forward attitude of the owner and staff, adjusting the music and thus ambiance according to the public, fast and professional service, huge selection and variety of food and drinks, a block from the Riverwalk, next to shopping like Rosse, Macy's etc... Highly recommended for tourists and locals! Let's help the little guys who do not surrender against the adversities survive!!! Best wishes to everyone at Emerald Loop Bar & restaurant!!

Enjoyable lunch

A group of friends gathered to have a very enjoyable lunch. Service was quick, the drinks were excellent as well as the food. We will be back!

Great Breakfast Buffet

By Allie C |

On Saturday and Sunday they have an awesome breakfast buffet. Eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, assorted pastries, and made to order waffles and omelettes. This was a great find for us as our hotel doesn’t serve breakfast. And the price wasn’t too bad ($13/person). It would have costs that same if we went to Starbucks, which can be found on every corner. The staff was friendly and the chief was amazing! Definitely recommend!

Average

By wanderiffic |

This restaurant was close to my hotel and I visited for the mac and cheese that I found through the online menu. The description sounds like an ooey-gooey comfort rendition of a special occasion dish but the reality was well-cooked pasta with an extremely light coating of cheese that was just “meh” and definitely not worthy of the price. The environment was as expected for a social sports pub.

So-so

By Jessi C |

The doorman at our hotel suggested this place for dinner. I’ll just say it wasn’t our style😔The service was very slow, but staff was friendly. Out of 4 meals ordered (kids Mac n cheese, kids spaghetti, nachos, and a hamburger), only the hamburger was completely eaten.

Fish and Chips

By Timothy H |

If your looking for a really good Irish night out this is the place. Authentic and eclectic. Tater tots for an appetizer, and the fish and chips for dinner. Great beer list including the standards from the emerald isle. Friendly service too.

Great bar for watchingsport

By Getaway775947 |

Spent 2 hours watching England v Slovenia, had a great lunch and tried a few new beers. Good value for money and excellent service,

Dinner after shopping all day.

By Greg P |

We went for dinner after shopping all day. We came in at the end of happy hour and found the place packed. After putting our names in and told we would have to wait a bit we were pleasantly surprised when a table quickly opened up. A reservation was a no show. My wife had the bangers and mash, and I had the seafood curry. We both had excellent dinners! The drinks were great also! I would go back there again.

Pre-St. Pat's Dinner

By marjohnal |

Perfect for an updated Irish bar. Except for the TV's and hostess seating, could be Ireland. Fish and chips were tasty - hubby's Irish Caesar had a beautiful hunk of salmon included. Great selection of exotic mac and cheese if that your thing. Giant pretzel was...GIANT. Cocktails tasty. Con's were loudness and somewhat haphazard seating. Service was not quite on the money but not horrible.

Great Irish food, nice lunch spot

By bruce p |

This is a great Irish Bar and Grill. Service is very friendly and the place is clean and authentic throughout. Really like the ambience here. They do have a separate bar from the restaurant. Is great place for a nice business lunch or even interest lunch as it's not too crowded at lunch time. Prices are reasonable and they have a great menu variety.

Casual spot for dinner and/or drinks.

By Cardscrew |

We stopped in for a late dinner and drinks after a 5 hour drive. There are bar tables as well as regular dining. The food was great, service was okay. There was a food runner who delivered our food and was also the same person to clear our plates away. We only saw our server a fee times. Good selection of whiskey and beer (plus a full service bar).

Drinks after a show

By Ryan Q |

Didn't spend a ton of time in here as it was getting late. Didn't eat just cocktails, typical Chicago prices.

Yummy Crispy Fish Taco

By kathyd_March2017 |

We stumbled across the Emerald Loop on our first nite in Chicago and was not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, clean facility, great service and great servers - very friendly. Highly recommend the crispy fish taco.

Great wings and drinks

By 13avivs |

My wife and I wanted a quick bite and drinks and decided to go to Emerald Loop. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed it very much. Their beer selection is awesome and so does the Moscow mule and a new take on mule with lemonade that my wife tried (more sweet). We had their wings and they were delicious. They have a few sauces that were great. We also really love their curly fries. Especially now in the summer when it's nice out, highly recommended!

Nachos to share? A meal for two!

By DramaQueen55 |

We thought we'd have some nachos to nibble on while we waited for our main courses - when the plate arrived we were shocked at the huge size of the portion. It was really too much even for two fairly hungry people, especially when the main dishes arrived which were also enormous. Tasty food, although my chicken was a little dry for me. Service prompt and efficient, and a good atmosphere, despite being seated away from the main dining area. Overall good value for the amount of food presented.

What we needed

By Dan L |

We just hot into town and are staying at the Wyndham. This was the perfect restaurant for us to go and grab a casual dinner in our Jean's. It's an Irish bar/restaurant but they have a nice safe menu with good eats at reasonable prices. My fiance' and I shared the New York strip dinner. The steak did come over cooked but we didn't complain and adjusted. It came with a full plate of veggies and potatoes.

Great food with great views of the city if you sit outside.

By Rob M |

Ordered the brisket, burger with bacon, a salad, kids mac and cheese and churros. Total price was around $65. Friendly service and great location. Food tasted great. Would recommend this place. Parking is always challenging with being in the heart of downtown.

Excellent!

By Estepona007 |

In Chicago for 5 days and We visited the Emerald Loop Bar & Grill today. We wish we had found it sooner! Traditional Irish pub that is spotlessly clean. Good food , excellent choice of drinks and our barman Miles was a fantastic host. Well done guys!

Cool lunch spot

By MrsPsPicks |

Lovely interior, friendly staff, and a wide variety to choose from make this a great spot for a meal. The corned beef sandwich was the best we’ve ever had. The brisket grilled cheese would be better if the meat was in smaller pieces and maybe add some sauerkraut or slaw to the sandwich.

A nice Irish bar in the Loop

By Liam Murphy |

A nice Irish bar to chill out. We stayed in Chicago for a few days to watch Ireland V New Zealand and really enjoyed this bar. A great evening spent here with friends on 2 occasions. Te owner did ask us why would we visit an Irish bar when on holidays, funny really. Though 2 friends had their jackets stolen on a busy day here so beware

Cozy

By 196LindaC |

Great place to stop on a cold and rainy day. We were looking for something a little off the beaten path. We were very impressed by the atmosphere and food. Menu was varied, everyone can find their favorities. I think it's my new favorite place in Chicago

Have fun getting screamed at.

By Joleen O |

The server arrived quickly at our table to take our order, but after that, it was horrible! Our drinks came out fast, and so did our food, but the person delivering our food was screaming at us in Spanish. We don't speak Spanish, so our group had no idea what was going on! The server never came back, so we had no silverware or condiments. Three of the four of us took a few bites of the food and quit; the food was gross! We will never go back.

What a lucky find!

By meezer3 |

We make it a annual event now to stay in the city at a hotel the night before Open House Chicago so we can get a early start the next day. We needed to find a good place to eat and happened to ask a doorman if he could suggest a good restaurant. He handed us a coupon to the Emerald Loop for a free appetizer and directed us to it just around the corner from where we were staying. It was a Friday night and the place was hopping! Fun and lively atmosphere with a German Ompa band. It is a sports bar with a Irish flair. The typical multiple TV's going too...but most people weren't even watching them. Lots of socializing going on. Considering just how busy they were they did seat us quickly. Food was plentiful and hot. We had the Cheese Curds for the free appetizer and they were great. Our waitress was one of the friendliest we have had in a long time and considering just how busy she was never stopped smiling and was attentive to our needs. If we are back downtown again soon we will make sure we stop in here for a bite to eat again to try something else on their menu.

Welcome to Chicago

By Neil2509 |

Our 1st night in Chicago & we saw this place on the way to the hotel. We fancied a good sports bar & we found it!! Food and service were really good & it was perfect for the 1st night Would recommend it

Great burger

By Gary K |

Stopped in today and surprised to see few people in the place at noon. By the time I left, the place was busy with folks eating lunch and watching World Cup soccer. Plenty of TV’s to do just that. I was pleasantly surprised to have a waitress actually from Ireland serving me. At her recommendation I got the Ballymaloe Chirish burger and fries. Both was very good. With a Lemonade my bill was right at $20, pretty good for Chicago I think.

Fantastic Base for our trip.

By JMul2018 |

Was in Chicago with a group of friends for the weekend and staying in a local hotel. This bar was a perfect base for the group, the staff got to know us quickley and were very helpfull, it was our first time in the city and we got great advice on places to go and things to see. The food was fantastic we had a big group but there wasn't one complaint, considering over the three days as a group we sampled most of the menu this was impressive. A sincere thanks to all at the Emerald Loop, we really got lucky finding the place on the first day.

Great place to eat Good Food and Enjoy quality service and nice hospitality

By Walter Gordon |

I flew into Chicago and took my daughter and her 10 university friends to dinner. We had excellent 'bar' good, service was very attentive and the management team took great care of all of us. Excellent value for money (approximately $20/person) and everyone left completely satisfied which is not always easy with university students.

Good food, loud location

By Connie I |

Seated promptly on a Monday evening. Service very slow, but our waitress appeared to be working hard, maybe understaffed that night? Husband had meatloaf and REAL mashed potatoes, stated the meatloaf was one of the best he's ever had. Daughter had a burger which she said was "okay." I had chicken nachos, while they were huge in portion size lacked somewhat in flavor. Overall nice place, but only the meatloaf was outstanding.

Worth a visit!

By missaguilera |

Popped in here at my end of the night to wrap up my birthday. Sat at the bar and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I truly appreciate the friendliness and overall great service. The dessert was sinful and the drinks were on point!

Excellent food at this restaurant!

By Laurie |

They have the best grilled cheese and brisket sandwich! We also had the giant pretzel with the beer cheese & mustard. It was very good as well. I had a Guinness & my husband had coffee. I was loud due to the number of people in the room, but we were still able to talk to each other. I would definitely go back again & again, We were there after 9 PM after a river cruise.

Sunday brunch

By Katy C |

Omelette made to order right in front of you, Belgium waffles crispy and light as air. Lots of choices for breads and meats. You will not be sorry you went

Pub with sports screens

By JG128 |

Very busy, lots of Sports screens. Food was standard, typically American pub style food with lots of variety. Service was friendly and efficient.

Don't waste your time or money

By AnnaConda27 |

Absolutely terrible all around. First, the service was awful. We went for Sunday brunch, and were given the regular menus. When we asked for the brunch menu, the server didn't know where they were. She finds them and we order. 25 minutes later, we don't have our food (and we're the only people in the restaurant) and she realizes the kitchen never got our order. So, it took 45 minutes to get our food. Meal was mediocre at best. Dry, unseasoned chicken on the breakfast tacos and favorless breakfast potatoes. Then, we get our bill, and we're overcharged. When I disputed it with the server, she got the manager, who was rude, but did fix it. No apology, no offer to comp anything. I spoke with the manager again before leaving to let her know all the things that went wrong, and again she was rude and offered no apology.

Stopped in for a spot of lunch

By Alan C |

Stopped in for a spot of lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There was a line up for entry but went down quite quickly. The food was pretty good but the service was excellent. Good experience I will come back

Happy Hour

By 808linlin |

Walked over from our nearby hotel. We had The charcuterie plate. This one got an A+ ! It was huge with premium items. There were 4 of us and we couldn’t finish it! Only thing that was a bit lacking was a few more crackers...beers were good too and not overpriced.

Nice way to end the day

By johncA3803KR |

Nice neighborhood Irish pub. Clean, friendly. Good crowd. Visit there every time I go to Chicago. Great selection of drinks

Very Delicious

By 123LeAMP |

We stopped in on a Friday night and were seated quite quickly. This is a loud place so conversation may be limited. Our drinks were served quickly. The food came shortly after and was tasty. I had the Friday night Tilapia with rice and steamed asparagus. It was seasoned perfectly and the rice and asparagus was good too. This was a very affordable meal and the portion was filling but not overwhelming. I would certainly return and maybe try the Lobster Mac & Cheese that a friend had. He gave it two thumbs up.

What an absolute gem of a place!

By James H |

We were staying across the road at the perfectly positioned Virgin Hotel and wanted somewhere close for dinner as we'd been caught in the biggest downpour ever getting back there. We went into the Emerald and we're warmly greeted and sat at a booth. Water was brought out straight away and our server was really engaging (forgo his name but tall lad with black hair in a man bun big smile). We ordered our food and it didn't feel that long before it came out. The shepherds pie was huge and filling, just needed gravy underneath as slightly dry. The sweet chilli wrap and skin on fries were great. The Emerald Salad was really good full of flavour. The curry dish was nice apart from my daughter not being a fan of eggplant, peppers or brussel sprouts. $77 all in which for what we had was a very decent price. Plenty of tv screens showing sports, and a lively/loud atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. We would highly recommend visiting here for a meal or a drink, if we ever came back to visit we'd go back here. This was our favourite meal of our 3 days here.

Open late so good choice after theater -- drinks fine but just average food

By shirley0415 |

We went for late night (10 pm) when many places are already closed on a week night after the theater. They have a big menu. No one liked the food, but the drinks were all fine. The service was also good. We had fish and chips, mac and cheese (tasteless), hummus, brussel sprouts (bad choice here as they were tough), 3 desserts to split. Really the drinks from the bar were definitely the best part as we had a lot of special requests and they did perfectly with them. So maybe better place to go for drinks after the show.

Really Hungry after Flight

By Mark K |

After arriving in Chicago for our 5 day wedding anniversary trip, we were really hungry and took a walk looking for lunch. Happened upon the Emerald Loop, just around the corner from the Wyndham Grand. Got there just at opening right before the lunch crowd and ordered the lunch special for Thursday..Corned Beef and Cabbage. Excellent meal cooked to perfection, served with a smile and washed down with my favourite Irish brew..a "Car Bomb". Food was excellent, staff was excellent, and overall experience was great. Will most certainly be back next time in in the "Windy City".

Amazing nachos

By Joanna M |

We came here for a quick bite to eat before heading out to some bars. The bellhop at our hotel suggested coming here for great chicken nachos- he was definitely onto something. Probably the best nachos we have ever had!

Good outdoor seating and service downtown

By T J |

Walking around Chicago with my family, stopped at Emerald Loop for lunch and a couple drinks. Sat outside so can't speak to the inside of the restaurant. Service outside was great, my stomach wasn't feeling well and they were able to accomodate with some white toast. My brother got a burger and liked it, and they made a mean bloody mary! There are SO many irish pubs in Chicago, this one I would definitely come back to.

Nice place for drop-in while exploring Chicago

By Nevertell2014 |

Very friendly servers (Melody well informed!) Salads are fabulous! Reasonably priced, very clean, super-hospitable staff. Good assortment of beers.

Avoid Emerald Loop

By Ivan |

Avoid emerald loop ! The food was old, guacamole sauce waa visibly not fresh and had soury taste because it was old. Hamburger was tastles as it was plastic. The atmospere inside ia dark and loomy. The service was beloww the average - it seemed as waitress was tired and annoied just being there so we even felt kind of sorry for her. Luckily, many good restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Average. Poor service

By Dreamer06323852021 |

Food average. My food was not hot and had to ask three times for salt and pepper. And mustard, which was slammed down on table by Waiter, who was downright rude.

Best Shepard's Pie & Smoked Brisket

By gregoryv946 |

We had a tall table with stools just a couple steps from the end of the bar. While my wife & I waited for the 3 guests to arrive, the waiter came by and asked if we needed anything while we waited. We said no. Two minutes later he delivered Ice Water for all 5 with napkins and silver ware. The food was fantastic. The waiter was fantastic. Perfect place for friends to get together and discuss what has occurred in the past year. FYI: next time my wife and I will share 1 Shepard's Pie, as it is HUGE!!!

Great food and service

By Isha W |

The food was great! I ordered the pub nachos. It was an appetizer, but it can feed 2-3. I ate is as my dinner and there was plenty left for my family to taste. The service was also amazing. We were a party of 7 and the waiter gave us excellent service.

Great crowd!

By f18pilot |

Stopped in the Emerald Loop Irish Pub after shopping the mag mile. Great service, good HH, and great crowd! Ordered a Black & Tan-of course! I definitely recommend a stop to warm up (or cool off) if you are in the Loop. Right off the River.

Nice bar , serving food , good location

By Gidons51 |

A bar in down town . Full bar , serving food as well , nice place to sit , quiet noisy but ok . Sitting by tables or bar chairs . Service friendly.

3 Happy Aussies

By Baxters2012 |

We were told about Emerald Loop by our hotel. After a huge day on hop on hop off bus tours all we wanted was as friendly face and a cold drink. We found that at Emerald Loop. Unfortunately I can't remember our servers name but he was outstanding and the food was amazing

Drink up

By g0nzalesmichy |

My hubby and I really love this pub. Food is good service is great. We love hat they Magners Irish cider on tap. Location is good right on the corner of walbash and wackier

Don’t go light!

By Steve W |

On a Sunday afternoon nice place to sit outside and people watch. Live street band playing in front of the Church of Christ church. Service was good never had to wait on on drinks. The inside of Emerald Loop was very nice and the bathrooms were clean. However; we ordered a light appetizer “Avocado toast” $10. 😏 We were served two pieces of dried white toast, thinly sliced avocado, 4” of arugula, and a sprinkle / whisper of cheese. Mouth watering yet? Hope not! Drinks & service was good; don’t know who they pissed off in the kitchen. Given how nasty it was we decided not to order anything else to eat.

Great place to watch a game

By Loomin8 |

Food left a little to be desired but the staff were good the beer was cold wait staff is friendly, I would not recommend eating here but it’s a great place to watch a game and grab a couple cold beers

A nice place for good food and drink

By Sapphire Ed |

Four of us stopped in for dinner and were very happy with the service and selection of food offered. I had the fish and chips and it was delicious.

Pre-show dinner

By Jim C |

So, I rarely go downtown and we were a half hour late, but we were seated immediately. Otherwise it would have been 45 minutes wait and we would miss the start of the concert at Chicago Theater. Food was great and service was excellent. Loved the Irish atmosphere. This is a popular place.

Not the place for World Cup viewing!!!!

By dcobyrne |

Place was recommended. We arrived at 845am for 9am game.....staff inside but didn’t open doors until 901am.....after kick-off. Really????? And then staff complained there was only two of them so count on a wait. Why promote and then not have enough staff???? Also promoted their great Bloody Marys. Oh, but wait....you can’t get them until 10am!!!!! This is not a law...we checked. Buffet was adequate for the $12 price but this is a place we won’t return to for any reason!

Great Bar and food

By Mark Taylor |

Our friends who live in Chicago recommended this bar and actually met us there. It was very busy as it is obviously very popular and rightly so. Service was excellent and although we did not eat the food being served all looked delicious.

Best Irish Pub in the Loop!

By easterndixie |

Where to start?! The service was outstanding... we were seated promptly and the place was hopping busy. Unbelievably, the food was even better than the service! The roast chicken was succulent and tasty (recommended by our server) and the brisket was the best I've ever had... EVER. Portions were huge too! Biggest nicest surprise? GREAT value for money. Hands down, the best meal experience we've hand in a VERY long time. Definitely noted as a favorite and will be back next time we're in Chi town. Highly recommend if you want a "local" experience that will leaving you wishing you were local!

music was good, food was good

By Tom L |

I didn't really get an irish vibe from the place. I got the chicken sandwich. It was pretty good. The wife got the shepherds pie. Good but a little salty. Does anyone know how to use other spices? Got 3 Guinness beers. Came out to about $80 after tip! Yikes. Waiter was good. Music was really good though. Basically Pearl Jam with some U2 mixed in. We stuck around for another beer just for that.

Good food

By bettybooponcrack |

One of our go to places to stop when we're in the city. Great food and great atmosphere. One our favorite bar grills in a great location.

Get The German Pretzel!

By SueLovesDuke |

The atmosphere is awesome. The location even better. The German pretzel and beer cheese is amazing. And we had the most handsome waiter EVER. It's the 3rd or 4th time we've eaten there when we visited from N.C. and we'll be back again.

Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, yummy food

By steveb0619 |

There is a good variety of food to choose from. I loved the build your own burger option which offered turkey and veggie burger options, as well as gluten free buns. My husband enjoyed the whiskey menu and tried quite a few from the bar. The atmosphere was fun and our waitress was fast and friendly.

Daily Feature Disaster > Grilled Rosemary Swordfish

By Greg Ehrsam |

I stopped in for a late night dinner around 9 PM on Friday after arriving at the Hotel Monaco across the street. The bellman recommended the food and location seemed perfect. I was on a date and stopped in Friday, Feb 28th for a late night dinner. We were seated around 10pm and had a couple cocktails before our food came. I ordered the Daily Food Feature "Grilled Rosemary Swordfish" from our server, Moe I believe. She was not very engaging and likely not happy to be working late on Friday. The Swordfish was very tough, similar to jerky. Moe did not check on us but I flagged her down and shared my feedback that the "swordfish jerky" was tough. She indicated that it was probably overcooked. I suggested she provide feedback to the kitchen which I doubt she did. Good news is she new the problem and sounds like it may be a common one, bad news is no action was taken. We paid the bill and left. My date told me it was my fault for ordering fish at an Irish place, but in my defense it was the daily special so should have been well prepared like any signature item. I reached out to the restaurant via their "Get In Touch" feature on the website and also called and left a message for the manager but have not yet heard back. Great location, great atmosphere, too bad not all of their employees take pride in the restaurant and work they do.

A great Irish pub

By Amado A |

The Emerald Loop was recommended to us by our hotel concierge. It is fun place with great food and service. I ordered the Wood Smoked Brisket dinner and it was very good. A pint of Smithwick's was a perfect pairing. My wife ordered the Grilled Vegetable Salad and her review is, fabulous! If you're looking for a great Irish pub near the Chicago River (in case you're staying in a hotel near the river) take a short walk down the street and treat yourself to the Emerald Loop! Slainte!

Good Food!

By Cynthia K |

This was a second choice (couldn't get in the Walnut Room). It turned out to be a good one! Decor was very good. Service was a little slow, but friendly. Food was outstanding! One of our group got a burger. The other a mac & cheese with broccoli. I got the piggy mac. VERY tasty. It was a generous serving, so I took some home. I recommend!

Great place to grab a beer

By Hillary B |

We went on a Friday night so it was packed but service and atmosphere was still good. We had a couple of drinks and definitely recommend for a night out!

Awesome Irish

By Dolores S |

The place looks great from the outside and even nicer on the inside. Great atmosphere, lighting and décor. Lots of tables and plenty of room. I had the best Corned Beef sandwich I've ever had. Huge chunks of meat and melt in your mouth. Waffle fries cooked perfectly. Shepards Pie that could fee 2-3 people and delicious. we just happened upon the place and so glad there was a parking garage across the street. Loved it and would go back if in the city next time.

Great bar in the centre of Chicago

By turlomac |

My second visit to Chicago could not be complete without another visit (or visits) to the Emerald Loop. Friendly staff, great beer and to class food in a great location. A must for visitors to the Windy City.

Halloween Irish Style

By beachgirl32963 |

We were two Floridians looking for some comfort food and adult beverages after a unexpected snow day on Halloween! The service was good and so was the beer. My husband was happy with a brew and football on a tv. He loved his seafood curry! The shepherds pie could have used some more gravy, but had a good potato topping. Both meals were very generous servings. The ambiance in a historic building was fun! I would probably try a different menu choice, but this was a good choice and we would return.

Something for everyone!

By Barry M |

While this is ostensibly portrayed as an Irish Pub/Restaurant, it is far more than that and you certainly do not need to be Irish to enjoy what it has to offer. Super selection of beers and liquors served by great bar staff who know their product intimately. We spent a great evening there and while we did not eat on this occasion we could see the delicious food being served to families/couples/groups alike. Met the owner who while living in the US for many years, still spoke lovingly of his roots in North Cork, Ireland. Will certainly return!!

Late night arrival

By Al & Bert Rogers |

Got a late dinner here after flying all day. Great food and wine and some great bar food to go with regular excellent and big menu.

We had a great time

By XD-GEM |

Terrific, relaxed atmosphere with great food. Our waitress Adriana treated us like family and seemed genuinely thrilled that we were there as part of our anniversary celebration

Great for lunch

By short_scuba_diver |

Came here for a business lunch and food was good. The staff were very friendly and everything was served promptly. The salads were very tasty - great for lunch and you can sit outside as well.

Nice and friendly

By Christine M |

Nice and friendly pub located a stone's throw from the river, busy location with decent food portions, offering specials on a daily basis. Wouldn't say it's a Irish menu - Irish with an American twist however it is a decent pint of Guinness.

Good Late Night Food

By Foodange |

A buzzy late-night bar and grill. Looked after by Alexandra, we sat outside on a warm evening with local beers, a fine Emerald salad and a lovely charcuterie plate with all sorts of meats and cheeses. Good for people watching too.

One of the best Irish pubs in Chicago

By Richard J |

One of the best Irish bars we found in Chicago (and we were here for St Patrick's Day weekend). Excellent selection of beers and menu is full of Irish dishes. Service was excellent, as was the food.

Great staff and the food was very good too

By Mike A |

Top marks to the staff at the Emerald Loop who were very friendly, full of ideas for things to do nearby and who served up some good food and drink. Good central location near the river makes it a good spot to rest awhile after sightseeing.

Meh

By Helge R |

Waited 15 minutes before someone came to take our order. Boring and bland burger. I won't come back here.

Good lunch spot; good specials.

By Susan S |

I ordered fish and chips but I had menu envy for my friends who all ordered a Tuesdquinoa salad with chicken. I garnered a bite and it was delicious. My fish and chips were fine too. A hearty portion and hot "chips". We were there on a weekday at noon and it was busy but you could walk in and get a table too. Location right near the Chicago River and Wabash.

Great experience!

By cynthiad6663 |

We had dinner reservations for 12 during "Restaurant Week" before seeing a show. For some reason they didn't have us down for dinner and reserved some high-top tables for us. It would have been doable but the manager made things happen and wrangled us a great table! Miles, our waiter didn't even blink when we requested 5 separate checks for the table. Miles, along with the other wait staff, worked hard to serve our needs and get us out in time for our show during a super busy time on a Friday night. Plus everyone really enjoyed their food! We will be back!

Check your order like a hawk and watch your bill

This pub has a list of about 8-10 draught beers and some bottled options. This time I ordered a standard IPA ale 4.8%abv for which they charge $8.75 before tax. They served me a half pint which seemed poor. When I questioned this, I was told ‘ this is how it comes’. Well it is draught so it comes how they choose to pour it. There was no indication on the menu that this was for a half pint and other similarly priced beers were issued in pints. I was told the manager would come and speak to me but this didn’t happen. What did happen was we were given a non itemised bill which seemed excessive. I requested an itemised bill and when this came, $10 of overcharging was removed. No apology was offered and I suspect these are two deliberate overcharging practices. Plenty of much better dining/ value places than this which don’t cheat the customer.

GOOD OPTION
