If you are salt restricted, BEWARE!

By Barb |

I was extremely disappointed in my brunch yesterday. I went with a group of friends. As I do not like eggs in anyway, I ordered the hamburger. An $18.00 hamburger that was so over salted it was barely edible. I drank many glasses of water in order to compensate. In retrospect, I should have sent it back but did not want to inconvenience my friends. Beware of the meat! It is over salted to the extreme.

Best food I've had in YEARS!

On a whim, we decided to go to Encina on Davis in Oak Cliff - Dallas, yesterday. We had no problem getting in and Cory had a beautiful table for us. There was no special occasion, just wanted something different and out of our "Plano" bubble. It did not disappoint. We all agreed that it was the best food that we have had in years! We had a charcuterie plate and Bar N Cheek meat that was excellent. For dinner (there were 3 of us) we had Catfish, Windy Meadows Chicken thighs and a Berkshire pork chop. We let them select our wine parings and they were perfect. The food and service were both GREAT! We had been there before - pre covid - so we were impressed to see that they have actually expanded their dining area. It's still a very cool "one-off" restaurant that is operated by the Chef, Matt Balke and Cory. If you're looking for a fun restaurant that has exceptional food and service, this is a must go!

Great brunch spot

Cute place to eat! Went with friends and while it was busy they seated us quickly and checked in with us the entire time. Highly recommend the pancakes. The bagel with the 3 dips were really delicious as well.

Amazing Brunch & More

A little out of the way, but so worth the effort. Sunday Brunch at Encina is easily the best we have ever had. Several items we have never seen on a menu before. Blue Corn Pancakes (A MUST), home made English Muffins (not Thomas') and much, much more. Jamie, our server, made our difficult selections easier, by describing each choice perfectly and suggesting splitting portions on the larger items. Located in a former Fire house in a trendy South Dallas neighborhood with parking, I can't wait to try the dinner menu which looks as interesting and exciting as brunch. This is my new favorite in Dallas, by far.
