Christmas

By trentonflash |

We had a reservation for Christmas Dinner at another Mediterranean restaurant. Arrived and reservation was not honored. Bah Humbug. We then went to Ephesus on the next night. Why ever go anywhere else .Service impeccable ,Hot bread. Beautiful and deliscious food. This is truly a Dallas gem. Do not be fooled by location in a Strip mall. The interior makes you forget. Be careful not to fill youself before the main course. We are regulars .

Bosphorus Reminder

By trentonflash |

What a great place in a strip mall in Dallas Texas. Great food ,Service and you can have a great converstion that does not have to occur over loud offensive music. You are greeted like family ,served bread and butter and they uncork your wine if you choose to bring your own. (Small fee) From the hummus or Mediterranean Pie to start ,to the shish k bobs the food is outstanding. Our new favorite Place.

European dining in Dallas ...inside

By yWould-I-Lie |

This is always a delicious option to treat yourself for a healthy, hearty lunch. From the "melt in your mouth" steak kabob to the shawarma chicken or falafel plate, the blend of Mediterranean spices is always well balanced and mouthwatering. The lunch special is accompanied with a starter and "shepherd's bread". This seems to be a nice spot for business or personal visits being located right off Central Expwy and Meadow and just a couple minutes from the New Hampton Inn, Courtyard Marriot and Presbyterian Hospital. My visits are usually during the week at lunch and the dining room is never crowded, service is exceptionally warm and personal. You can bring your own bottle (Tom Thumb is a few steps away) for a corking fee or you can order from the wine list. Turkish tea or coffee is always a delicious finish to your meal especially when accompanied with any of the outstanding Ephesus deserts. Be aware, the outer front door has no barrier between the restaurant and sidewalk/outside temperature to protect patrons from extreme hot or cold. This only impacts patrons when someone holds the door open for a long period of time. (Aka Murphy Brown😉"close the door!")

Very nice find

By Relax523422 |

A pleasant find for lunch near my daughter’s workplace. Simple, but warm dining room. Food was tasty, especially the bread, and reasonably priced. Look forward to returning again in the future.

fantastic food!

By WNW |

I had the chicken shish kebab and my wife had the Greek salad with gyro meat on top. We had hummus as an appetizer and baklava for dessert. Friends had the gyro and the risotto. Everything was made to order and super tasty! We met the Chef who was very nice. Would definitely go back!

Lunch - Wow!

By NancyWeld |

Since this place is in a strip mall I didn’t have high hopes. If I lived in Dallas, I’d eat here once a week. The bread was amazing. Tasted like a pretzel. Loved it. Had the Humus. Not fancy, but it tasted great. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate. It was different than what I’ve had before and was very delicious. It was served with a side salad and rice pilaf. It was wonderful. Next time I’m in town I’m definitely stopping here. Loved it!

Superb Mediterranean Restaurant

By TEflyer |

I usually have quick takeout dinners when I'm travelling for business. Tonight I opted to visit Ephesus because it is highly rated on Google and near my hotel. Though it is in a strip mall, the entrance is very inviting and the dining room is welcoming and spotless. I was greeted with a warm smile and seated quickly. I ordered the lamb kebab entree served with rice and roasted vegetables. A basket of scrumptious rolls arrived as I waited and I could not resist. My dinner was well-prepared and delicious. I also had a Turkish coffee and the best baklava I have ever tasted. It was tender and not oversweet. I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed this meal. I was won over by the owner's generous and good-hearted hospitality. He clearly takes great pride and providing his customers a lovely experience in his restaurant.

I will be Back - Again and Again!

The food is amazing. The lamb is outstanding and the veggies are simply delicious. When they bring the bread to the table, the smell makes you so happy. And they have wine...you can also bring your own wine. This place is 100% A_Wine_O approved.

Wonderful authentic Turkish food!

By Dungan |

Cengiz Yamrutas, the owner of Ephesus, is from the Asian side of Istanbul. He oversees a kitchen here which produces truly outstanding Turkish and other Mediterranean dishes in very pleasant setting. And Cengiz is also a very charming host! Ephesus is in the Tom Thumb shopping strip on the northwest corner of Central Expressway and Meadow. They do have wine. But you can bring your own with a very reasonable corkage fee. My favorite dish is the Adana Kabob. But my wife is a big fan of the Lamb Shish. She has had it so often that she just orders it as the Janet Kabob. Plan to stay a while and enjoy a relaxed evening! Ephesus is of our favorite spots.

Quiet place, very good food

By Berthaki |

The first time we visited this restaurant we arrived by accident because the restaurant we planned to visit was full. However, it was a happy accident. They have a lunch menu where you have several options for an excellent price. The food is very good, specially the desserts that are made as tasty as in Turkey. We also met the owner, who is very sympathetic and friendly with visitors. Don't forget to finish your meal with a turkish tea.

Delightful Turkish food and wine

By Ott0 |

Fun and flavorful Turkish cuisine, excellent service, unique wine, at moderate prices, in impressive, but welcoming, surroundings. The menu is sufficient but not overwhelming, which made selection easier. All dishes are apparently traditional Turkish. Our meals were delicious. The wait staff was attentive but professional. The house okuzgozu red wine was a find!

Amazing service

By COZUMELL |

This is an authentic Turkish restaurant ideal for families, couples or even business meetings. The ambiance is warm and inviting yet not overwhelming with heavy Ottoman style decor. It’s very clean and a soft Turkish music playing in the background just adds more relaxation to a the feast you’re about to have. The lentil soup, appetizers and desserts were very delicious. The service was amazing and the owner was extremely nice. Would go back again

Recently opened place with solid food.

By Wil R |

Wife and I went to try this place out. Glad we did. Let me first say though that I am partial to Lebanese style ME fare. Unleavened pita, tahini over tzatziki etc. That being said, the food here is very good. We had hummus and their house baked bread for starters. Both are VERY good. We had the sampler platter for two. Great mixture of kebab, falafel, shwarma, and chicken shwarma. Served on a platter with mixed grilled veggies, pickled onion, grilled onions, and spiced rice. We had leftovers to take home so portion was solid. All the meats were well seasoned, properly cooked, and tasty. Only downer was the beef kebab was a little on the tough side. We will definitely be going back, as ME food is one of our favorites. Give the folks at Ephesus a try, I know you'll like it.

First time

I was reluctant to try this type of food but was very pleasantly surprised. From the bread the the chicken kabob I could not have been more pleased.

Good choice for casual mediterranean dinner

By LARRY H |

Good choice for ,turkish, mediterranean food. A number of lamb dishes, chicken, beef and a few seafood choices, no refills on soft drinks it seems, served in the can, bread is very good. We had the salmon and sliced chicken and both were very well seasoned and prepared.Located in a strip mail, thus ample parking

YUM

By Unicornfluff |

Absolutely delicious bread, meat and vegetables. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Heaven in my mouth. Had a bit of trouble requesting that the check be split, but it all got sorted out in the end.

Delicious Food, Friendly, Clean

By SB S |

We ordered several appetizers and the family plate. No regrets. Every item was good and the service was excellent. We enjoyed our meal and the friendly staff. Of course we will be back to try other dishes. Thanks.

great service, excellent food

By LARRY H |

Located in a strip mall, parking is ample, the menu offers typical dishes as well as a salmon dish. We had a feta cheese started which was excellent(pita bread is $2.00 extra. The offer wine and a limited beer selection. We tried the salmon which was well prepared ,seasoned well ,served hot and well plated. We also had the chicken kabob which was also excellent. Service was well above expectations and a high light. They offer dessert as willow which again are excellent. Pricing is very reasonable. Worth a try.

Outstanding meal and service from start to finish

By Heidi C |

Today I dined at Ephesus for the first time. Two friends and I arrived for lunch at 2pm hoping they were still serving. Lunch goes until 2:30pm and we never felt rushed. We ordered the family platter, though they also have very reasonable lunch specials. The family platter was just the most amazing thing. I'm so glad we followed the recommendation of the owner and went with it. It comes with a bunch of meats: lamb chops, gyro meat, chicken and beef kabobs and shawarma. There is also rice, tzatziki, and vegetables. They also have the most delicious bread/rolls that are brought out to you when you sit down. There is a reasonable $5 corkage fee if you want to bring a bottle of wine, which we did. Otherwise, you can order wine from their menu. We also had delicious hummus and pita, turkish tea and a dessert called Kunefe. All three of us loved everything and my friends brought home the leftovers. I am taking my family back there this week to enjoy Mother's Day brunch because I loved it so much and I can't wait to share the experience!

Authentic Turkish!

Some people say that Mediterranean food is one of the world’s healthiest. Mediterranean cuisine is fantastic because of its regional variations, its range of ingredients and its flexibility, which is a result of constant influence different nations had on each other. The most raised animals are sheep and goats, due to the fact that most of the terrain in these parts is perfect for these animals. Fish and seafood dishes are also widely spread and very savory. Olive oil is the most popular spice, and grilled meat, falafel, hummus and pita bread are most known it the eastern parts. The Mediterranean can be divided into three culinary regions: South Europe(Spain France & Italy,) which is best recognizable for its wines and herbs, North Africa(Morocco) which are flavored by spices, and eastern Mediterranean (Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Israel). My family lived in Turkey for several years and have returned to visit many times since. One of our favorite meal memories is to enjoy doner kabob. Ephesus offered a marvelous dinner of iskender which is very close to the same. It consists of lamb cooked on a vertical spit and then shaved on to pita bread soaking in a tomato sauce and then covered by yogurt. This meal met and surpassed all of our expectations. The portions were enormous...almost too much! We purchased three meals and took home half of each for later enjoyment. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from the region. And, we got to practice our Turkish language skills (very rusty). Service was the best. The restaurant is small and simple but very clean and tastefully decorated.

Great Food and Nice People

By John Rutherford |

This is one of our regular go to places for Mediterranean food. The service is friendly and the food is always very good. The location is in a strip center along a major highway but do not let that discourage you from going. There is a good variety on the menu and everything we have tried has been good. We will return.

Hidden treasure

By Lydianne M |

The best Greek salad I've had. The mixed greens were fresh, the dressing was tasty with a good amount of feta cheese and olive flavor. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. The variety of fresh vegetables were perfectly cooked. The portions were generous. The straight out of the oven bread was delicious and the chocolate souffle was excellent. The service was top notch and the owner could not have made us feel more welcome. Great atmosphere with pleasant exotic background music to boot. Overall I'm glad we stopped in for a late afternoon lunch.

New destination restaurant

There is now a mid east/Turkish restaurant with superb food and ambiance. In a shopping center where one might not expect such quality food. On multiple visits, there has never been a disappointing dish.

Best Turkish Coffee, Flan, Bread and

By Iris C |

Loved my lunch - Spicey Lamb with rice and Salad (see photo) recommended by waitress Paula. The decor of this restaurant is simple yet elegant with beautiful scenic paintings on the walls - a feast for the eyes while you enjoy their delicious food. Their bread is wonderfully light and freshly baked. The Flan is one of the best I have had and goes very well with the Turkish coffee. Everything is reasonably priced. I highly recommend.

Strip Mall Wonder! Great Food. Friendly Service

By ALEX P |

I met a friend here on her recommendation for dinner and was so delighted with the outcome. This Mediterranean restaurant is excellent. The food was fresh, fast and delicious. Service was excellent. The menu is so broad with Mediterranean favorites its hard to choose. I started with the fallafel which was crispy and perfect. The bread is warm and fresh. The red lentil soup for my second course delicious. For the main I had the lamb and it was tender and delicious too. Very generous portions. I highly recommend this restaurant! Prices are very reasonable and they have a small corkage fee if you want to BYOB.

Just like home! Delicious Food.

The place itself is beautifully and makes me feel like this place is different. The waiters were helpful quick and informative about the menu and my meal came without long wait. I got my money's worth in meal size and it was a unique taste experience. Nice home-style meal

unexpected Mediterreanean delight in a Dallas grocery store shopping center

By Lizzie J |

My husband and I have visited Ephesus twice with my mother and enjoyed it very much both times. The restaurant is located in a grocery store shopping center north of Meadow Road on the west side of Central. The outside of the restaurant is welcoming, with a couple of benches under a vine-covered pergola just outside the entrance. You enter the restaurant through carved wood doors into the dining room, which is open and bright. The walls are hung with nice oil paintings of mediterranean scenes. The tables are set with white tablecloths and nice silverware. Both times we visited were early on a weeknight. Each time, the restaurant wasn't crowded when we arrived, but by the time we left, what seemed to be regular customers (based on how the owner greeted them) were arriving. The music was at a nice level - enough to provide ambience, but not so much that you couldn't easily have a conversation. On both visits, the staff was welcoming and friendly, and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. The owner even stopped by our table on our last visit. He was super friendly and even answered some questions about his background, and the food... which by the way was WONDERFUL. We live in Michigan, where we have access to lots of good med food... but this place (in Dallas!) is outstanding. All of the food seemed super fresh. The portions were plentiful without being excessive. We had an appetizer sampler of hummus, baba, med salsa, and feta dip; followed by shepherd salad; then doner accompanied by grilled vegetables and rice. All were excellent. We had a bottle of a turkish wine (I think it was called Yakut) that complemented our dinner nicely. Our server brought baklava for dessert. It was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. We highly recommend Ephesus and will be back to visit on future trips to Dallas.

Tasty find.

By lawmuse |

My wife and I had heard good things and read some good reviews on Tripadvisor so we stopped in for lunch last Monday. We got there in the early afternoon after the lunch rush and were greeted and showed to a table for two. The server brought out fresh hot rolls and herb butter that were so good. We ordered the baba ganoush and stuffed grape leaves. Both were tasty. The only time we had baba ganoush that tasted that good was in Turkey. I ordered the vegetarian casserole. It was more like a stew and the flavors were superb. It came with a salad that had shredded carrots and beets, spinach, arugula, etc. Also there was rice with almond slices. My wife had a beef gyro and substituted a salad for the fries. There was salad on the gyro so she will substitute something else next time. The deserts looked tempting but I am trying to limit them. I will surely have one when we return for dinner. I liked the fact that the tables are not so close together that you cannot have a quite conversation. We will return soon.

Great food and superb service

By Evan T |

My wife and I have traveled in Turkey, and always loved the friendliness and service we encountered there, and the Ephesus Grill delivers that same welcoming spirit, along with great authentic Turkish food. I had the calamari appetizer, and it was a nice mix of calamari with a light tasty batter. The lamb in my main dish was tasty, and the mashed eggplant paste underneath was really good - I wish there'd been more. Plus a nice Efes beer completed the meal. Sadly I was too full to try the baklava.

Amazing Medittanean

By Glenn Almack |

Ephesus Mediterranean Grill is an outstanding find, as the food is amazing. I went with a group of friends, and we shared the appetizer platters, then I chose the Braised Lamb Shank. The meal ranks as more than memorable, as the food across the board was excellent. Amazing appetizers, bread, and desserts, in addition to their entrees. I had their chocolate soufflé for dessert, and it was authentic and decadent. and finished my meal with a Turkish Coffee! Glenn Almack
