We had reservations for Espetus, this brazilian barbecue place that Andi knew from when he lived here. Man, we ate. It is not an everyday thing, so this was our only meal of the day, as nothing could come in after that. The restaurant looked nice and not over-the-top or caricatural. The waiters are a mix of central american, brazilian and from the States, but they all understand and even speak Portuguese to some extent. The buffet had a small selection of sides - and since I was looking for authentic brazilian beans, I was a bit disappointed here - but the meats were great and kept coming until you said "No, thanks", like in every brazilian steakhouse. We got caipirinhas with Ypioca Gold to accompany the meal. Cheese bread was complimentary and they kept bringing it to your table if you wanted. Everyone was friendly and approachable. For lunch, the all-you-can-eat buffet style costed US$25.99 per person. We were so full that we needed to walk around, so that's what we did.

A family celebration dining out that not only the adults enjoyed, but the children too. If you are a foodie, carnivore and a steak lover, this is the place. Every cut of beef is expertly prepared and cut at your table just for you. Your choice meat can also be requested (from blue to well-done). It was the first time that I enjoyed this experience and definitely will again. The staff is outgoing, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. When San Fran, you must dine in. There was approximately 15 of us, including children and the average cost was about 70 USD per person. It was well worth the price to feast on sirloin, filet minion, and every other cut of steak. Lunch menu is more economical. Fish and chicken is also available, as is a very diverse salad bar.

Great atmosphere, very good food and service. God wine selection. Come hungry and plan not to eat for a while after.

We went here because my dinner companion wanted to try it. We were both very disappointed. It started out promising due to the very nice salad bar selection. (The only reason that I didn't rate it terrible) But you don't want to pay $55/person for a nice salad bar. The only meat selection that was remotely good was the signiture sirloin. The rest were over salted and tasteless. The lamb was absolutely inedible. I'm baffled by the positive reviews. Dinner for two, with two drinks each and tip, was a little over $200. There are so many wonderful restaurants in SF that would provide a much better dining experience.

Made 5pm reservations same day on a Saturday without issue. The decor is really nice. The servers are very polite and quick. The sides were delicious but avoid having too much to save room for the meats. The quality of all of their meats were superb and cooked at a perfect medium-rare for the beef options. Everything was well-flavored and tender. Pricey but worth it. Will love to come back when I'm in SF again.

During the past 14 years, Espetus, simply the best churrascaria in San Francisco and beyond, has happily improved my quality of life. With family and friends, we have gone at least 5 times a year on special occasions, or occasions that I define as special for no obvious reason but to go. All along, and as it just happened after Christmas, the meal has been truly superb and the service noteworthy. If you are looking for a great meal, tasting cuts of beef cooked to perfection, a lavish selection of salads and wonderful desserts, Espetus is your place.

Nice atmosphere at this all you can eat at this churrascaria. But not worth it, as the meats are just average, the prices high, and the service very poor. Try another place. You'll be disappointed her.e

We did not have a plan to come here for dinner, we made reservation in the last minute and we got in. When we got there the greet us and seated us right away. The host was very friendly. Server great ha right away and drop is great little appetizer. We ordered cocktail and it was amazing, have the coconut mojito and it was excellent . Best I ever had. The food is amazing but it's too salty for my taste. I felt like my face swollen from eating too much sodium. Overall it was a great experience.

We're from Sacramento. A friend told us about this place and thought me and hubby give it a try. We we've been here twice .. Once for lunch and then another time during dinner. Lunch wasn't busy but we did reserve our table during dinner and we were promptly seated both times. There is less meat selection during lunch but I think it's worth the 26 27 bucks. Dinner was 55 or 60 but hey that was worth every bite too. No complaints!

I've been to Brazil many times and I love churrasco. When i went to this restaurant with my brazilian friend for lunch we both were satisfied! Great quality of the meat and good selection of appetizers and salads for a reasonable price. Very similar to the food that you can eat in Brazil. Great choice for meat lovers.

Had dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend. The service was prompt and friendly. The meats very good. The drinks potent. the decor was nice. BUT... The salad bar and sides were a big let down, both in variety and quality. For that price ($100+ per person) not sure the quality and quantity was worth it.

If you are ever in San Francisco, this restaurant should be on your list of "things to do in SF!!" The ambiance is perfect. But moreover, the food is outstanding. And the service is superb. Essentially, different meats brought to your table in a random fashion. These different meats are cooked to absolute, mouth watering, perfection. Included in this, is an open salad bar with really good salad and great variety. We loved this place.

Espetus SF market street is pretty good. Better than Fogo de Chao, cheaper during the weekdays, better buffet overall. I experienced a larger variety of meats. Just don’t get chicken or shrimp, it’s a waste of time and appetite.

This was the first time going to a Brazilian steakhouse and was not disappointed. The salad bar looked amazing but decided not to fill up there and wait until the meat parade started at my table. They bring 12-14 types of meat. My favorites were the garlic sirloin, flank steak, and pork loin with Parmesan cheese. Recommend greeting their signature drink, Caipirinha. Two of these might put you down for the count. Can't wait until my next trip to San Francisco!

Each and every kind of meat was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. All the sides are also very good. Don't waste too much room with the sides you will regret not saving room for all the different selections of meats. Restaurant was clean and the service was good. You wont regret this joint.

It is criminal for meat to taste this good.Only regret,a tiny stomach.Starve for days before going..

If you like a lot of meat in your meal, this is the place to go. They have servers that bring around all sorts of cuts of meats. As they slice it, you have a little tong to remove it. They also had roast pineapple! They only thing I was disappointed in was the salad bar.

I visited with work colleagues, the place is a little pricey but well worth every penny. The bring around some great meat on skews and excellent salad bar. My tip is to wait for the best meat and not to fill up with salad bar and some of the early brought skews. I have not found the same quality restaurant in UK

Meat lovers paradise. We arrived ravenous and weren't disappointed with the food. Delicious fresh salads available from the salad bar a great accompaniment to the awesome selection of meats brought to our table. Juicy, succulent cuts of pork, beef, chicken, prawns. Attentive and friendly staff. Worthwhile the trip across town.

Nothing more to add really. if you walk from Union Square the neighborhood just before the restaurant is not the best, but don't be alarmed! Artistic feeling, great service, but not over the top. Highly recommended!

My son always wants to come here for his birthday. he loves it because of the excellent service, the tasty meats and I love it for the Brazilian buffet! Well done Espetus!

Went for an anniversary dinner and this is clearly a special event place - prix fixe of $58 with salad/hot sidedish bar and 15-16 types of grilled protein. Every other table was celebrated at dessert with a round of Happy Birthday in Brazilian Portuguese. The meat is simple and completely delicious. The staff are friendly and happy to engage or leave you alone. It's a bit formulaic in that it's basically about the rounds of meat brought to your table so there isn't a lot of variety or exotic ingredients (chicken hearts and bacalao (sp?) the exception. But the meat is memorable and I find myself remembering the place quite favorably. It's a good celebration place but not exquisite/rarified, so depends what you're looking for.

Early dinner with my colleagues.... The decision to try this restaurant came after a long screening session. I really tried all type of meat: lamb, pork, beaf and chicken. Really tender and good! Also the service and the explanation how to get food was clear and precise! The price I guess is little higher than average, but .... ehi! We're in SanFran!

We chose this restaurant as it was the closest to our hotel. We didn't know a thing about the place but saw that it was jam packed so that must've been a good sign. We're glad we went as the food was great, as was the service. You start with a great salad, no limp lettuce or soggy salads here. All fresh stuff. Then you turn your wheel to green and you get a flood of waiters/chefs(?) lining up to give you cuts of meat that are to die for. I had a petit (?) chocolate gateau for desert which was great too. All in all a very nice meal, all requests were fulfilled and we were never waiting for service. The only two niggles I have with the place is that the room could do with less of a draft or being slightly warmer. The other is that the first time we saw any prices were when ordering dessert. The meal is a standard $56 by the looks of it, pricey for a meal, but absolutely worth it for the service and quality of the food as from what we could tell, it was all you can eat.

Between the food and the staff - Espetus consistently delivers. This meat focused resturant gets you the flame smokey goodness in all the fare. With a wide and fresh salads bar (check out the mango salsa!) its easy to overdo it. But regulars know - save room, because one you go "green" the staff will keep slicing up the meat. I tend to like to go earlier in the night when all the meats still have individual flavor - sometimes later in the evening - they can blend together with a salty, seasoned, smokey flavor. While not cheap - its a great meeting or special occasion place. a nice dessert menu if you still have room and some great sangria and bar beverages. Hint: lunch is cheaper too!

By far my favourite churrascaria in SoCal. - Price is very fair - The passadores were all very sympathetic and funny, which is important for the whole dining experience - Quality and quantity of the meat and buffet is very well mixed and yummy - Meats are very tender and not overspiced Would love to come here again.

Was treated to a memorable first experience of Brazil steak. To start, you help yourself to various buffet salad items; however, the BBQ meats will be served by gentlemen servers making their rounds to all tables. Environment is very cozy, the experience of being served with various steak beef, pork, lamb, and chicken sliced slabs were enjoyable. Rest assured, you will have a chance to try each BBQ type at least once, and many more times if you desire. You got to try the filet mignon bacon wrap and the chicken hearts! When getting stuffed with plenty of meat, you can rotate your table status to red to say enough : )

Oh my gosh. This place was amazing! We had Christmas dinner here. Reservations were required. They sat us at a lovely large round table that made it easy to visit and spend time together. The servers were kind and very polite. We stayed for a few hours. The food was out of this world. We were here for the meat, and there was plenty! We ate everything from beef filet mignon to pork tenderloins, chicken, seafood, and literally a dozen other special things. The grilled pineapple is a treat between meat choices. There was a delicious salad bar that some in our party sampled from. It included some amazing looking veggie dishes, seafood and pasta. Our dessert included lovely coffee drinks, tres leches cake, puddings, and dessert wines. This may have to become a family Christmas tradition! Thank you for the lovely day!

Some real great eats. One of the places I would highly recommend for a special occasion. Came to celebrate 2 year wedding anniversary . They gave us a dessert :)

This is becoming a mandatory stop for me every time that I go to San Francisco. They have a very nice selection of meats that are presented in the Brazilian churrascaria style (Sword) They also offer lamb, chicken and pork which is a nice complement for the meat (Picanha, fraldinha, etc). The Brazilian potato salad is quite traditional (similar taste to the Brazilian ones) and the desserts are awesome. If you are like me (try everything) ask for chicken hearts, these are grilled chicken hearts presented in a sword that are delicious.

Espetus is top notch high-end Brazilian steakhouse with the usual selection of great meat. what differentiates it is an amazing wine and liquor selection. They also have a nice salad bar to compliment the meal. Service is very attentive. Tres Leches dessert was great.parking is a challenge

We celebrated our sons birthday, he wanted to go there. Service, food and atmosphere was great. Plenty of choice, all meat and chicken, also shrimp. The servers kept bring more and more food. A little expensive, but worth the cost. Also great salad bar.

Upon arriving for a 5:30 dinner reservation , the gorgeous mass of magenta orchids wow you at the entrance inside. After being seated we browse the salad bar taking tiny helpings so to be sure to leave room for all the meat to follow. You really have to have a plan of attack for this meal if you want to get the full experience, We were there at least 2 hours. The waiters stroll by with proteins on a rotisserie skewer and you have this little gauge at your table that you flip to green for yes I would like to try or red for I need a rest.HAHA . The waiters are dressed in gaucho attire and very friendly. As they shave off the meat, you grab the little tongs that are on the table and and pull off the meat to place on your plate. We must have tried 16 different items ranging from shrimp, chicken, lamb, chicken hearts, filet, sirloin, pork, and grilled pineapple and more. No room for dessert at this place..Soo much fun though.

Excellent food, grilled meat and tasty seasonings. Great service, everyone was very helpful and polite

Best Brazilian food in San Francisco Best caipirinha also The meat it was perfect.. the crew was awesome!!! Five stars

BBQ Brazilian Style My family and I have been here four times over the last two years and this place is the modicum of consistency. We have also been to other Brazilian-style BBQ restaurants and this place takes the gold medal. When you eat here be prepared to eat smart and based on the following: 1. There is a buffet to start with that includes salads and sides as well a few main courses. While nice, it is the table side BBQ that is the star of the show. Don't fill up on the buffet and remember that you can always go back for more. 2. A seemingly never-ending revolving group of servers will come to your table until you tell them to stop. They will bring all kinds of meats. Our recommendation is to go slow, ask for small portions so that you can sample everything and always look to get the start of a new meat fresh from the kitchen versus the end of the serving. 3. Make sure to try the grilled pineapple brought to the table. Get this one hot. 4. There are three dining areas each with their own ambiance. I don't like upstairs or the back room. The main room is by far the nicest and the bar area is a good #2 option. 5. This place is not inexpensive and may be best for nicer events.

I'm Brazilian and I was quite pleased with this Churrascaria! The food was fresh and well prepared. The meats were awesome! I came here for a wedding reception and the service was great once they came out of their daze! it looked like they had never handled sunch an event here. The gorup was not that big (35-40 people), but they were not prepared to service the party when we arrived. They started bringing the meat skewers to the table, but there were no plates or utensils. they seem very lost. This is something to consider if planning an event here. This place is for carnivores, so if you are not a starving meat eater, it may not be the place for you.

Was there for first time. Small restaurant and very noisy. Could almost not hear what friendly waitress was telling us. Salad bar looked inviting however we came for the meat. Some was good, but some was mediocre and some really fatty. The tempo was really high but the rounds did not always provide new tastes but rather the ones which wer enot chosen in previous rounds.

AMBIENCE Very romantic and classy but still warm and inviting. FOOD Superb! Endless choices of ALL kinds of meat - the tenderest and the tastiest! As if the buffet is not enough! STAFF Staff were good-looking, presentable, and very professional.

This was my second trip to Espetus, and while the food is delicious, as always, I would warn strongly against families with small children from patronizing. Our waiter was rude, and at several points during our dinner, glared, was abrupt, and made comments about our 2 year olds typical 2 year old behavior. There were families with older children and 10 or so members being loud, disorderly, etc., but it was OUR 2 year old who was ruining the experience of the other families at the restaurant. We will not return with our children, and may not return at all.

We had a great dinner and the meat was great. Good enough salad bar. Overall it cannot compete with Fogo de Chao, but the quality of the food is comparable. The atmosphere of the restaurant need improvement, to make it a great place to be

This was super fun experience with friends with lots of opportunities to try different types of meat and a really good salad bar. As others have said, it is pretty spendy and it is not a place I'd want to have a romantic dinner with multiple waiters stopping by every few minutes (when the sign is green anyway). My strategy of not feeling up on fried things or rice from the salad bar paid off as I was able to sample nearly every meat that came by and even get seconds on my favorites. In summary - try it at least once with lots of friends!

We visited as a family with children age 9 and 12 having been highly recommended to come by a friend. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing the meat was very high quality and cooked to perfection. The service was fast and attentive and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. I would advise to book in advance as the tables seemed to fill quickly. This is not the place to come if you are. Ot really hungry. Go hungry and be prepared to eat your own body weight in lovely freshly cooked meat

If you have never had real Brazilian churrascaria corre a (run to) Espetus. Tackling Espetus is simple (1) eat lightly all day, (2) arrive very hungry, and (3) prepare to be overwhelmed with a vast assortment of food -- from salads and pasta to an array of grilled delicacies of all kinds. First, there is a buffet with numerous salads and sides. Pita bread, rice, feijoada (black bean stew), guacamole, Brazilian coleslaw, olives, and many other items will tempt you. Remember, at Espetus, the word of the day is meat. Watch out for the buffet: do not overindulge early in the game, or you will lack stamina to pack in the many yummy grilled things. Next, there is a tempting basket of assorted breads. Again, do not be sucked in. While delicious, they will take room away from the star of the show, the meat. Then there's (wait for it ...) the grilled meat. Servers come by with different meats impaled on skewers the size of swords. If you want more, turn the little card on the table to "Sim, por favor" (yes, please), or if you are finished or simply want to pause to catch your breath, turn the card to "Nao, obrigado" (no, thank you). Grilled meats include top sirloin, sirloin steak, flap steak, filet mignon and lamb. There is also grilled shrimp, linguica sausage, pineapple, and chicken hearts. With excellent flavors throughout, everything was tender and juicy. Since the meats are cooked on the skewers, they vary in "doneness" -- simply ask the server for a more well done or less well done piece to suit your preference. Servers are very friendly and ensure that your dining experience memorable. They are very knowledgeable about the various cuts of meat and do not hesitate to make recommendations. Espetus offers a full bar and an extensive list of local and imported wines. The good-sized wine list reads like a Malbec lover's dream. For a special dining experience, carnivores should leave their vegetarian partners at home and run to Espetus.

I have been to this restaurant a couple times now! Everytime has been absolutely amazing. Everything they have served has been brilliant! They even made a little birthday cake to my friend for free.

My wife and I met a friend at Espetus for fun and catching up. We made our reservation and were immediately seated. From the very first appetizer, everything we ate was exquisite. The Parmesan beef is to die for. It's not a cheap date, but a memorable one for sure.

With our last day here I needed to finish it properly. Lunch was a Sirloin steak that was recommended by the staff. It was good! It's maybe a bit pricey but I think for German comparison it'll be the same. Not the best steak I ate but the service was very friendly with its recommendations and attention. We both had a 5-star lunchtime.

absolute meat lovers delight, service when required super, the biggest salad bar I have seen with great variety. The meat offered was cooked perfectly.

This is a special occasion restaurant. The price is fairly high, but it is also fun. Obviously, an all-you-can-eat-of-meat place isn't for everyone. If you are up for it, enjoy trying the many different flavors. Once you sit down, your table is given an small sign to turn which signals when you are ready for more meat or to stop. At the back of the room is the side dish bar. Don't expect your usual American dishes here. This is a Brazilian steakhouse with salads, rice, and yucca. The meat is brought over to you on large skewers. The waitstaff then either slides a portion off for you or you use your tongs to grab a piece as they slice it off. Since it is all you can eat, don't feel rushed - your favorite meat will come around again. Take a small taste of many things, then enjoy more when you are ready. We enjoyed bacon-wrapped chicken, shrimp, flap steak, sirloin steak, filet mignon, pork lion, and lamb. At first each new item was better than the last, but the flap steak was my favorite making it hard to go back to the others. If you don't turn the sign to stop, prepare to eat fast and keep making room on your plate. It is ok to skip an item, especially if not everyone at your table wants the same thing. At least three birthdays were celebrated while we were there late one night. It is a happy, nice place, so don't be surprised if it gets loud. I did see some people who seemed to come in just for the full bar. I very much recommend having reservations and arriving early to find parking. We found a small lot a few blocks down the street. If you are new to San Francisco, be ready for the mixed area. Espetus is a very nice restaurant with other nice places nearby. We felt safe, but you will see the Red Cross across the street and homeless people in doorways or walking around. This is not unusual here. After more meat than I am used to eating, there was still room for dessert. The dessert and wines are extra, but you come here to celebrate so go for it. All of the beef that we were served leaned to the rare side. This made the white tablecloth not so white in the end. They must be masters at getting stains out.

A recommendation from a local. A very relaxed and cool place. Lots of laughter and chat. A Brazilian steakhouse run as a buffet with waiters offering wonderful cuts of steak and other meats. Well worth a visit if you have a big appetite. You will not leave hungry!!

Dinner with a friend that recommended this location. Nice layout for a salad and many choices of meat and all were excellently prepared. Would recommend.

We were visiting from the OC, this place deserves 10 stars! Eder our waiter was exemplary! I would recommend this place to all my friends and enemies! We never waited for for more than 5 mins for any service. We will come back here every chance we get. Highly recommended for all meat lovers who enjoy fantastic service.

Went there with my wife and my 6-year old son. We just had a salad because our son fell asleep and had to go without even trying the meat. The check was unbelieveable: 100$ for two salads!!!! They told us that was the normal price for the salad and only 11$ per person for the meat. I find difficoult to believe... Anyway I don't like restaurants that take advantage of their clients' difficult situations. We'll never go back to Espetus because I don't trust them!!!

This restaurant is perfect for meat lovers-may not appeal to everyone although it may have the best salad bar ever. Food is delicious, service is very good but if you are not a true carnivore the price of the meal may not be worth it

Truly a go to place for me when I want to treat family and friends and give them their first experience of a true Brazilian Steak House. The meats are top notch and you can't find something that you are craving that they don't have. What separates this place for me is the buffet bar, you could truly eat at the bar minus the meats and still feel like you went to one of the best restaurants in the Bay. Table side service is great and they have true pros here.

I went to Brazil in December 2013 to January 2014 and loved the meat. A friend invited me to the Espetus restaurant on a buffet night, we didn't have a reservation, my advice is make sure you make a reservation in advance if you are going on a buffet evening. This is an upmarket restaurant with incredible food. I strongly advise going hungry and if you like meat don't have too much salad and eat slowly. The waiters bring around various types of meat to your table, so you don't even really need to stand up. I did find the dinner quite expensive, but it was worth every dollar! I left feeling quite uncomfortable, but extremely satisfied!

This was a special occasion (thirty fifth anniversary) for us, and we wanted a fun and festive atmosphere. Espetus fully delivered. The restaurant is one price for salad buffet plus skewers of meats carried table to table, all you can eat. Drinks and dessert are extra. When you sit down there is a little tray of fried polenta, fried bananas, and tiny cheese muffins. Yum yum. Then you start with the salad bar. Salad bar is too tame a label for the selection of cold and hot vegetables. It was excellent, and we could have made a meal just of this. But we had been warned to pace ourselves, thank god. Meanwhile, there is a little wheel on the table indicating whether you are ready for the meat servers to come around and carve their selection of steaks, chicken, shrimp, pork, pineapple, and lamb off of long skewers. 15 separate items on our visit last nght. I tried every single one except the chicken hearts (apparently a classic, and which delighted one of our two guests no end). My favorite was the slow roasted roast beef, which had a very smoky flavor, and the bacon wrapped filet. The cuts were not the most tender (it would have helped if my knife had been sharper), and the chicken and pork were a bit dry, but everything was extremely flavorful. I even loved the pineapple, which I usually don't like. I ate so much I gained a pound and a half overnight. I am not usually a big eater, and I watch my weight. I will be dieting for weeks to make up for this splurge! The roaming costumed carvers were very personable, and made it a point to remember who liked rare and who liked medium. This is a great place for a celebration. My one wish is that they had a quiet corner somewhere. For older people like us, it was hard to hear, and we had to raise our voices quite high to talk to each other.

This is an amazing churrascaria - a fantastic offerings of meat, a delicious and very impressive salad bar, and outstanding service. I have dined at several churrascarias across the US (Mid West, East Coast, Texas), but this is probably one of the better restaurants serving this style of cuisine. The quality of meat is excellent and the passadores (meat waiters) take the time to slice and serve the meat in the proper way. The table staff is always warm, welcoming, and attentive - which makes for an even more memorable dining experience. I definitely plan to visit Espetus again.

If you are a meat lover you must try this place. Each table has a little device that you turn green when you want food, and the food doesn't stop coming. Turn the device red when you need a break. Back to green when you see someone coming with something you want to try. Steak, pork, chicken, shrimp, sausage, and the best pineapple I have ever had. Go here...

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and we were glad that they did so. The front of house welcome is friendly and the servers are attentive, also friendly and very responsive. We had a caipirinha to get us started and we both agreed they were amongst the best we’d had for a while. The salad bar was excellent and we soon awaited the delivery of the first meat. Over the next 60-90 minutes we were treated to regular delivery of a range of excellent cuts. The multiple cuts of beef and pork were quite lovey as was the sausage, ribs and of course the pineapple. With another pair of caipirinha thrown in for good measure we filled ourselves full of excellent fare and simply couldn’t find room for dessert. If you love your meat I’d highly recommend a visit with my only caution, and the reason for only 4* being the price that for our visit at almost $100/head (including tip) was a bit steep.

Went with my gal on Valentine's day and the wait was a little long (despite reservation) but we expected that. The place was PACKED! Nevertheless, the service was great, the meat came fast and furious and we did not feel rushed to move on...even though we lingered a bit at our table. This place is a bit pricey $55/person but going here is a special event that is worth it if you can spare the extra cash. Just remember don't get too caught up at the salad bar (even though they have lots of special things there too) especially the mango salad. This place is really a 'can't miss' for anyone who likes eating meat and wants a special night out.

The food is just stunning. if you prefer meat over fish dishes, this place is for you. a bit pricey, but it will be great experience if you never tried Brazilian barbecue or love steaks. meat really melting in your mouth...one of the best places i have ever been to. we had lunch here, and after i had to skip dinner and next day breakfast;)

On my second visit to Espetus I had to wait 30 minutes to get a table (tip: They take reservations) Luckily you can leave your number and they will call when the table is ready, except after 45 minutes I had not received a call, so I went over and asked for the status of my table, their answer: We just texted you, didn't you get the message? I believe this was a lie for two reasons: They were going to call me, not send me a message, plus I never got any text message from them. The other reason I believe this was a lie was because of how the hostess acted when I gave her my name and asked for my table: she was uncomfortable, nervous and told the other hostess some sort of secret. After getting my table everything changed, waiters were great, food was excellent, dessert was mouthwatering. I'll definitely go back, hopefully they will be a different hostess this time.

Its nice to go to a Brazilian Steak house that is not a chain, in a local neighborhood and has really great food and service. It took a while for the meat to start flowing as we had a window seat up in the front but you get a nice view of the street. We ate a little early 630 so it wasn't crowded. But later on there were lines around the salad bar. Overall a great experience and definitely recommend when you want some wonderful variety of meat.

The food was really great - the buffet as well as the fresh meat brought to the table "live" by the waiters. Only drawback: the city quarter where the restaurant is located is not the nicest

Wonderful formula of fixed price and unlimited bbq beef, chicken, lamb, prawn. We particularly liked the ribs and sirloin. A bit of an industrial feel to the ambience, high cieling, harsh lighting, buffet/production line. Great service, with knowledgeable staff. Grilled pineapple is a great idea.

We didn't know what to expect when we arrived at Espetus Churrascaria, we were just looking for dinner, with kids. It was fantastic. After a 10 minute wait we were seated at a lovely table in the window. There was a buffet salad bar which had lots of choice which accompanies the meat which is brought on skewers to your table. You can pick and choose as you please when the servers come by. The beef/prawns/chicken were all amazing. The wine was a little on the expensive side, but I find that in SF restaurants anyway. They were great with the kids too. A little expensive for a normal night out but defo recommend it for an occasion. Would definitely return next time I'm in San Francisco and will not eat anything for the whole day before I go. PS have an caipirinha.

Was amazing! Server was very nice get a lot of information about wine and food. And the End my special desert and singing the HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME ON PORTUGUESE

I have eaten steak in many countries and places, but I have to say. The service the food the atmosphere was first class across the board if ever I am back from the into San Fran this will be a must on the list to revisit

Espetus Churrascaria is over-the-top, but in a good and fun way. With at least 16 different kinds of meat (beef, lamb, pork, chicken -- and shrimp, if you count shellfish) served at the table, it's a carnivore's preview of heaven. The meats were delicious, cooked to perfection, seasoned brilliantly, and available until we couldn't eat any more. Warned in advance not to overdo the salad bar -- which we could easily have done -- we paced ourselves for maximum intake. The ambiance was raucous, but fun. The servers were cheerful, attentive, and accommodating. The place was packed, although I noticed that they were taking walk-ins.This is a wonderful place for a once-in-a-great-while treat.

I haven't been much of a meat eater after 35 years of marriage to vegetarians and on those few occasions that I have attempted to recapture memories of how rewarding a really good steak could be, I have mostly been disappointed, even at top-rated steak houses. However, after being invited to lunch at Espetus by a friend, I am happy to report that I was able to savor beef (as well as other meats) that really woke up my taste buds. This is due in large part to the choice quality of the meat, the spices with which the meat is seasoned and the rotisserie method of roasting. The latter two qualities are characteristic of the Brazilian style of cooking meat to bring out its best qualities. The most flavorful part of the meat us usually the roasted exterior and at Espetus they impale smaller cuts of meat on what look like sabres and "rotisserize" them to maximize the amount of flesh that's exposed to the flame. The impaled meats are then brought to your table where, if you choose to sample that particular meat or cut, the server slices off a small piece which you grasp with a small set of tongs and place on your plate. Another server shows us minutes later with a different offering on a sabre and so on until you signal via a "stop" and "go" sign on the table that you've had your fill or that you need a rest to digest. So what we have at this restaurant is basically a tasting menu for meat lovers, a concept I loved. Instead of getting stuck with one piece of meat for the entire meal (what if it's not to your liking?), you can sample a surprisingly broad variety of beef along with pork tenderloin, chicken, shrimp, sausage, roasted pineapple and maybe more that I'm forgetting. This is a prix fixe restaurant (approximately $52 per person for dinner) which includes a lavish and well-prepared salad and side-dish buffet. Wine is extra of course. If you have a large appetite and love meat, you'll have difficulty finding a restaurant better than this to satisfy your cravings.

After a day walking around San Francisco, we were tired and needed to eat. We 'happened' upon Espetus Churrascaria and decided this was the place for us. Sadly, they were fully booked and we would have need to wait, fortunately, the receptionist realised just how tired I was and managed to fit us into a 'no show' table. Tough on the people who had booked and were half an hour late! The first surprise was that we only got a wine menu, but our waiter explained how the system worked. As much salad, veg etc and numerous waiters coming round carving off different joints of meat! It was wonderful - polite, helpful staff and the food was to die for. Yes, when we got our bill, it was a bit pricey, but we had a great night out in what we thought was a 'grotty' part of San Francisco!

The only other Churrascaria I've ever been to was in Brazil, and that was a pretty solid experience. I decided to spend my birthday here with good friends. There is a little buffet area with some appetizers that, frankly, I would skip altogether next time. The buffet food was good, but nothing compared to the incredibly meats the brought to the table...Parmesan crusted this...bacon wrapped that...incredible everything! The servers were funny, quick, and friendly. The drinks took a bit of time, but we were a rather large table, so I completely understood. I will definitely return here soon! it's a great experience.

Came here a week ago for lunch on a Saturday with friends to celebrate April birthdays. Everything is delicious! The buffet which offers a variety of salads and Brazilian dishes. The variety of meats that came to our table...well seasoned and so tender. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. It was definitely worth the $41.95 per person for lunch. The atmosphere and the staff were lovely! Espetus is a meat lovers dream come true!

Delicious! Churrascaria done right. Great variety of meat, cooked to perfection. If you're a fan of meat, do not miss this place.

Everything was smooth from the host, the waiter, to the meat servers....DELICIOUS!..Brazilian cocktail is a must! I noticed our waiter served it to each table he had like it was a glass of water and everyone had the same reaction. YUM!

Every time I go here, I love it! The waitresses are all beautiful. The salad bar is well kept. The meats are EXTRAORDINARY. Even for lunch service, it's perfect!

I love Brazilian steakhouses! I love the meat, I love the ritual, I love the side dishes, I absolutely love them! So, whenever I come across one, I make the effort to eat meat as if I wanted to make the restaurant go out of business. The problem with half the Brazilian steakhouses I've been at, is that long before entering a food coma, my stomach gets bloated, so I must stop eating. This did not happen at Espetus, here I ate until I was satisfied, then I continued eating and I finally stopped when it was time to go, afterwards I felt good, unlike other times were I regreted my actions. The meat was spectacular! Side dishes options were a little limited, but who cares? I was there for the meat!

First time to experience a churrascaria style restaurant and this place did not disappoint! While I didn't get to eat a lot, the steaks we are all good! there wasn't anything special with the pork and chicken variety, so just save your belly space for the meat! The sides were also all delicious and go well with the meat. It was a Saturday so we paid a bit more but we thought the price was still okay for the quality of the experience.

Mu husband and I had dinner at the Espetus and the meat was absolutely the amazing! The buffet had several options and overall, the meal was healthy. However, we thought there was too much spices which made the meat very salty. It was also a bit expensive for the entire meal, for 2 people ($196 with wine). Everything else was great.

This is an excellent restaurant for a special occasion. There is an extensive salad/sides bar with a multitude of choices. The meat is brought to your table and carved to order. There are about 10 different types of meat they bring, all of them good in their own way. A great dining experience!

I love this Brazilian restaurant I've been to some churrascaria and every time i finish i always feel bloated and have a meat comma and fatty taste all over. Not at Espetus, the food in their salad bar is so fresh i can feel the asparagus snap in my mouth. Its very delicious too. They even have salmon in there too. Their meat is of A grade quality. I was very full yet i didn't feel blah after eating too much meat. I totally recommend this place.

I love this place so much that I've been there already 3 times in the past months. My advice, make sure you are hungry and I mean really hungry as this place works similar to "all you can eat" (of course at a total different level of quality) concept. So for hungry lovers this is heaven. Try not to go there on week end nights, it works best during the week (and it's also less expensive). The starters buffet is tempting, I would recommend to take few fresh or grilled veggies, but don't overcharge your plate, you want to keep space for the real deal. Like all churrascarias, you need to know what meat and cuts you fancy the most. I usually skip chicken, while I love fillet mignon, picanha and garlic striploin. Nice touch the grilled pineapple, quite refreshing and the desserts are great too. So, good value for money if you love lot of meat or special occasion (great service you have there).

This restaurant it is located in a good location in San Francisco, the staff been so friendly and professional; there you will find more than 25 different kind of meats, so many different options for salads and desserts! you must to get there so hungry if you want to enjoy it! I only disappointed with the parking of the restaurant, they don't have a good parking lot nearest to the restaurant!

My family celebrated a birthday two days after Christmas that we wanted to have at Espetus. A reservation was made several weeks in advance with two choices of time, either 6:30 or 8:30. Those are blocks of time that fill the restaurant twice a night, so only those times. Street parking was free and plentiful. We hit heavy traffic on the bridge and were a bit delayed but they held the reservation for us when we called, but try to be on time. Servers there were 5 star and moved from table to table with many cuts of meat. Beef, lamb, pork, chicken, sausage, shrimp all done in different ways. Start at the salad / side dish buffet and pace those items with the different cuts of meat through the meal. Don't forget the BBQ pineapple!

In a word, MEAT. Beef, lamb, pork, chicken and some shrimp, brought to your table on large skewers and cut right onto your plate. There is also an extensive salad and vegetable bar. Great, friendly service. All you can eat. Makes me want to write like Hemingway. Short sentences and all. I don't think he went to Brazil but he should have. Espetus even has diet Guarana, which I could not find in Brazil. Two of us went for dinner, one of us had wine. The bill came to about $150.00, plus tax and tip. Tip well, the wait staff earns it.

Very nice buffet, tasty meat, good wine in a nice restaurant. We were a group of 10 and we did enjoy our dinner!

One of the best restaurants I have in for a while. The service was excellent. The food options was fabulous. The different kinds of meats was crazy good. I ate all the options. I will be coming back for more to this restaurant.

I took my partner for his birthday as he loves Brazilian BBQ. He loved it. I thought it was tasty but far to expensive. Personally I'd rather get one piece of meat that I really prefer instead of lots of different types of meat. The $30 corkage fee was the heftiest I have encountered and frankly far too expensive. I prefer the San Mateo location as it has a nicer atmosphere.

The concept of getting continuously fed with tasty and diverse grilled meat is working. Week prepared and juicy meat in different cuts,v as well as prawn and other accessories. Good and fast service, nice but somewhat noisy atmosphere. You pay a premium for the choice compared to a good steakhouse and a single dish.

Why this place is not in the top 50 is beyond me. I have been to several of the top 50 places in San Fran on TripAdvisor, and none of those place provided an experience as impeccable as this one. The environment is clean and classy. The staff are most delightful and considerate. The food is amazing, EVERYTHING is up to standards, appetizer, dessert, coffee, the meat, oh the meat. You never have to worry about your food getting cold, because every single bite is delivered to your plate straight from the oven by a staff with the biggest smile.

We had lunch here and enjoyed the fare. Scrumptious salads, chicken stroganoff, bean stew and then 9 different cuts of meat all perfectly cooked / BBQed . thirst quenching fruit juices and great coffee. An experience not to miss.

A group of 16 came here for a final night out with work. We had the most amazing time, the service was great, the food was simply amazing and the best I've had. I highly recommend coming here, it can be quite dear but it's worth it on special occasions.

If you love eating meat, you need to come to a Brazilian steakhouse such as Espetus. We came here for lunch on a weekend and the place was almost full by early afternoon. Different types of meat kept coming out of the kitchen and I probably tried all of them. Some of the cuts were a bit overseasoned and on the well done side but you can request for a rarer cut. I would go light on the salad and the other entrees (such as salmon) at the salad bar. After all, you are here to eat meat. Definitely try the grilled pineapple! The only drawback to this place was parking, which is all street parking. Be prepared to walk a bit, which might not be bad considering all of the food you will eat.

Location is very nice, but is really expensive with low quality. All is very salty. All prices are never rounded but terminate with 95 cents. This is acceptable in the market but not in restaurant

your $56 (without drinks and without dessert yet) is worth it. we reserved online to be sure that we have a spot since we heard that this resto is always jam packed. the appetizer/salad bar was to die for, but of course you will exercise control in over eating from it since you want to reserve your tummy for the best part. i love it when you turn your signal wheel to green for the first time because all the waiters carrying the different steaks will line up your table and slice away (should've taken a picture!) but my favorite of all the meats was the sirloin. special mention to the fried banana and the cheese bread. likewise, a salute to the friendly, helpful and courteous staff. highly recommended!

I truly love Brazilian Barbecue and did not disappointed this time either! This place is very fresh, in central location and, oh my god, the meat is absolutely fabulous. Remember to make a reservation beforehand. About 16 different meat flavors. It is your call when you like to be served (greed flag) and when you like to have pause (red flag). They also have a nice salad selection, delicious sausages and chicken. No not forget to enjoy Brazilian cheese bred either. Looking forward to my next San Francisco trip and visiting Espetus again. Thanks guys, your were the best!

This place is Delicious!! We were a party of 8 with 3 kids so we made a reservation. The waitress was great and explained the process. You need to go in an empty stomach, you must try everything! For dessert the waitress was nice enough to accommodate our kids suggestions. Atmosphere was great

This is an upmarket restaurant that you could bring business clients to. The salad bar has a great selection, the meat cuts were of a high standard and the interior looks refined. This is all-round the best Brazilian but restaurant that I've found so far

We needed a celebratory restaurant that could accommodate vegetarians and folks that don't like spicy foods. My husband chose Espetus in San Francisco, and it was a great experience for everyone. When you arrive, hot appetizers are brought to the table: fried bananas, fried polenta, mozzarella sticks and puffy cheese breads. The salad bar includes fish and chicken, a wide variety of grains and legumes, plus many nice salads. My favorites were the jicama and the mango salads. But do be cautioned, if you plan to eat meat, go easy on the salad bar. The meats (primarily beef) are the stars at this restaurant. The meats are served hot from skewers at your table, so there is never that steak-house problem of the steak getting cold before you are half done! There were a large variety of cuts prepared in ways I had never quite seen before-- for example, the filet mignon was cut with the grain, rather than across it. There was also, sirloin, sausage, pork, beef ribs, and three or four other beef cuts I didn't recognize, plus grilled pineapple (excellent with the pork!) Some meats were prepared plainly, with almost no seasoning, others were spiked with garlic. Some cuts were quite salty (fortunately our vegetarian was also the low-salt person in the group...) but the meat portions were never so large that the saltiness wasn't able to be mediated by something else on your plate. We did split some desserts: the flan and the Mousse de Maracujá. The traditional flan was deemed excellent. The Mousse de Maracujá was a mixture of whipped cream and passion fruit presented in a crisp, caramalized tortilla shell. Very delicious and interesting. The passion fruit gave the sweet cream a nice tang and that tortilla shell was a wonderful morsel to crunch on with coffee. The wine list is extensive, and the sangria from the bar is excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant and the noise level wasn't so high that you couldn't carry on a conversation. Many of the servers dress in traditional Brazilian gaucho outfits, which is a nice touch. All of the servers we dealt with, and there are lots because there is lots of meat always going around, were exceptionally polite and accommodating, not a grouch or hint of attitude in the place. The clientele seemed to be a mix of tourists, business folk, and, of course, young techies. This might be an okay restaurant for older children during lunch hours, but meals do take a long time, so keep that in mind. My feeling is that the $54. prix fixe is a bargain considering the quality of the meat and the dining experience you are being offered. If you limit yourself to the salad bar, the price is $44., probably not such a bargain. One caveat however, is that the $54. can mount very quickly when you start adding apertifs, wine, dessert, after dinner coffee, digestives, etc. But. in all, I can't find anything lacking in this place, whether you are visiting San Francisco or live just down the street.

My friends and I went to Espetus to cellebrate my birthday there were 8 of us in the party. The service was way better than I expected with a group of that size. The food was outstanding. The prefix price was a great deal for what we got. The roasted meats were perfectly cooked. I'm not a fan of Lamb but tried it there and I thought it was good. This is the type of restaurant where the servers bring roasted meats to your table and carved off a slice. The salad bar was pretty nice too. We will definitely be back!

When you need to have a serious meat dinner, this is the place. Great, friendly service. Very limited wine list. Some of the meats were better quality than others, and most were cooked medium or well, neither of which is my choice. Very nice to have shrimp served as an option. The chicken hearts were unexpected and not my favorite. Overall a nice meal.

I've been to maybe a dozen or so Churrasco restaurants around the world, and the quality of food and service here was the best. Meat was high quality cuts of beef, lamb and pork, slowly cooked over a wood fire. Simply outstanding. Service was pretty good. Nice and attentive. Even had room for the caramelised ice cream dessert, which was divine. The only negative I have on this place was the recommendation of the wine. The recommended Argentinian Malbec was really bad for a $59 bottle. We saw the same bottle on 4 nearby tables as the night went on and I assume they were recommending it to everyone. Given there was a Gold label Wolf Blass on the menu for $49 we assumed this would be of similar quality - we were wrong.

Espetus is steak, steak and more steak. I’ve been to several Brazilian steakhouses including a few in Brazil, and I’d say that Espetus is above average every time. The room is not real big, nor is it particularly well decorated. It’s somewhat spartan in fact. The emphasis here is on the meat. The service is friendly. At a Brazilian steakhouse, you want the meat to come out fast and furious. Espetus checks that box every time. As for the food, the salad bar is a decent size but nothing special. You can find spectacular spreads in other chain joints but seriously, who cares. You come for the meat, not the salad. And as for the MEAT, I find it consistently well prepared and tasty. They have a wide variety of cuts, including chicken and lamb. It’s all good. Well prepared. And delightful. This is a great place for a fun date or to meet friends. It is not cheap, but it’s a treat.

What can I say, meat feast, great food and great service. If anyone walks out of here hungry then there is something wrong.

I took my parents here for dinner during their trip to San Francisco and they really enjoyed it. The pork and chicken were somewhat dry, but every other meat (and the pineapple!) were wonderful. The salad bar was pretty good (I've had better) and the wait staff was excellent. My parents enjoyed the meal and were raving over the grilled pineapple, chicken hearts, parmesan-crusted steak, lamb, and flank steak for days after. I took one star away because the room was ice cold (and I'm not a person who gets cold easily) and my father was chilled. Also, parking for the restaurant (like most places in San Francisco) was horrendous. I finally spotted some side street parking a block from the restaurant, but I think they should do a better job of pointing out possible parking nearby. Would I return? Yes, definitely.

What a fun an great restaurant. Our first experience with a Brazilian Steak house. The wait staff was especially helpful. They explained how the whole dining experience would be. Food was always available and hot.

My first time at a Churrascaria - this was a treat! Everything was fabulous - except I have to admit I didn't try the chicken hearts, lol. SO MANY meats and each one better than the previous one. Thank you for a fabulous experience.

Espetus is a pretty good meal but not nearly as good as the main competition that is scattered about the country. The salad bar is about a quarter the size of Fogo de Chao and the selection was very limited. Several items (including salad) was out and never replaced. The meat selection was good but we asked for and waited for the bacon wrapped chicken and filet which never came. The waiter said he requested it but we continued to wait and it never showed up. For the price, I would not come back. There are far better choices for a $200 dinner.

Amazing selection of skewer style options and the salad bar. Shrimp skewer is a must. Dessert also on point! Definitely recommend

In 2011 I visit San Francisco with my friends. We had some congress for 7 days and we stay 8 more day's for pleasure just to enjoy mostly in food... 3 times we visited same place , last time stuff saw us they said: hi guys you again, nice to see you!! Definitely be very hungry when planning to visit them....don't make mistake to take too much from salad bar which is huge and very tasty.... When sliders start to go through restaurant don't take everything (I skipped chicken, lamb....) Strongly suggest sirloin steak!! (Taste off meat is impossible to describe) and definitely grilled pineapple We skipped desserts....you guess. :-) Must try!!! I will be back definitely!!

It is very delicious The chicken is good Steak very nice pineapple very good The chicken heart I didn't like

My wife and I visited this place on 9/3/19! This place is amazing and the service is beyond good! The food can be ordered to your liking. The establishment is Brazilian style so the meat does not stop coming until you’re full! Simply put...this place is damn good!

I love meat and have eaten at just about every Churasaco. They have it right!! Besides the normal monster salad bar, they had Mahi Mahi and about 5 other entrees in warming dishes for those that want more than meat. I want meat and their fillet was a 10, a long tender entire fillet instead of the usual little peices. Also they had awesome skewered shrimp which was delicious! Add that to the constant service with perfect pineapple and an abundance of beef, it is worth the trip! Enjoy!! We did not have reservations and waited an hour and have no regrets. Make a reservation!!

Great steak place and great customer service! Parking was a little challenge but there are a lot in side roads. All kind of steaks were a winner! Must try! Roast pork was great treat and tasted really good as well.

Traveling to San Francisco for 14 days, my family made a reservation for dinner at 8 o'clock. Since we were on the last day of our independent trip, we had dinner with our family before boarding the plane. The temperature in San Francisco started to drop around 3:30 in the afternoon. We arrived early and the restaurant manager did not agree with our early arrival. When we were seated, we also ordered drinks when we were seated early. We endured the strong wind and cooled down outside and didn’t know where to go. We didn’t go back to the restaurant until the time was up. We didn’t even ask if we had finished the dinner and dessert 🍮, so we just collected the desserts. Walk As for is it really delicious? The barbecue was too salty for my taste. We only loaded the salad bar once. The meal for three people cost 327 US dollars, which is more than 10,000 yuan. I think it is not worth it.

My only complaint about your typical churrascaria is that you have to not eat all day in preparation for the delicious dinner menu. Espetus, innovators that they are, fixed the issue by allowing us to gorge on the dinner menu at brunch time. Bless their hearts. The food is of high quality and it’s my favorite restaurant of this style.

I think this is a place you only need to try one time. It is very expensive and you feel you need to eat as much of the delicious meat as possible. It is not healthy to do regularly. Some of the sides were delicious and some were just okay. I tasted a tiny portion of each of the 14 different meats offered. It was good, but probably won't go back because I don't need to consume that much meat.

It was 3 in our party. The selection of items to select from the buffet is great. The mango salad was delicious. We drank sangria it was very tasty. And once you think all is so good the best part starts coming...the multiple different types of meat, pork, chicken, sausages, etc. It was a non traditional dinner very different but absolutely marvelous!!

Bookings recommended. Make sure you are hungry. The salads are divine, skip the hot buffet selection and enjoy the exquisite flavours of the Brazilian bbq that never ends. The meats are cooked to perfection and best enjoyed when sliced in wafer thin strips so they melt on your tongue. They are willing to work with you, no matter how you like your meat - from well done to rare. What a great way to start our San Francisco stay!!

High quality meat and a good variety buffet. The service is good and you don't have to wait for the filet! Only the price is very high, with a shared bottle of wine - 90$ per person! With or even without reservation you might have to wait 30 minutes before being seated. But for me as a meat lover - worth it!

Salad bar has great choices - the way the meat is brought around allows you to try different sorts (chicken, filet mignon in bacon, shrimp, etc).

Great food, excellent service and swanky atmosphere...make sure you go with your appetite intact...excellent salad bar with a great display and variety...The hand carved meat selection is pipping hot, plentiful and constantly being offered...from top sirloin, ribs, chicken, sausage, pork, lamb, bacon wrapped filet mignon, chicken hearts, pineapple, etc... yes all cooked to perfection...Make sure you order sangria too....i was so pleasantly full i couldn't order from the exciting dessert menu..but the double expresso was tasty.

Omg. Best ever. So much wonderful tasting food. All you can eat. Everything is brought table side. To die for. Well priced. Great wine. Loved it. How is this a place I never found before.

This was an amazing and fun dinning experience that I had been putting off for years, but so happy I finally tried it and especially this place. Seen advertisements for ages of Brazilian meat restaurants where they walk around with scurried meats and cut it at your table and thought it was something hokey for tourists. Well, there is a little bit of hokeyness from the servers coming around in fancy gauchoish outfits, but the food and especially the meat is just phenomenal. So it is all you can eat, which allows you to enjoy the items that you like and indulge in the meat gluttony that comes table side and carves you your meat right in front of you hot from the kitchen. The quality and flavors of all the meats are just incredible. There is the salad bar with complimenting items for your meal, along with some table breads, but try not to fill up on those as it really is all about the meat. However, make sure you leave room for dessert. They have some great desserts that are a bit exotic and out of the norm. Even though the place was very busy, everyone from the hostess, to the servers, and floor manager were all very friendly and professional. You can really tell this place knows what they are doing. Will definitely be back and don't hesitate to recommend this place.

I have eaten Churrascaria in many locations around the world & this is easily one of the best, a wide ranging buffet, with succulent meats in truly lovely surrounding & the staff are extremely helpful and attentive, although it is a little on the expensive side compared to your average rodizio it's more than worth it :-)

Me and my family visited Espetus for the Mother's Day . I called in advance to reserve a spot and they were really nice . I got a call back later just to confirm my reservation . Also in last minute we added another person, and when I called them to let them know, they were really cool about it. We arrived on time, and the employee on the front was nice . We got our table . They have 15 kinds of meat and staff comes with it every 2/3 minutes . Prices for dinner are not cheap, but this place worth for every $ Great Brazilian place .

This is the kind of place you go for special occasions. You can start with their wonderful "salad bar". Besides makings for salads, the side dishes can be a meal in themselves. The beef selections is first rate but there is something for everyones taste, including pork, chicken, sausage and seafood. Service is prompt. You also must try the house cocktail, good!!

The place had a lot of good review so I decided to check it out on new years eve.The place is not what makes it its the atmosphere and the people worked there did it all. Manager Edgar surely knows how to lead his staff to excellent hospitality. I was so amazed seeing the staff attentive and they genuinely looked happy to have their cutomers eat there.Made us feel like we were invited. Food was absolutely delicious. Great place.will definitely go back.

Espetus is my favorite Brazilian steakhouse in the Bay Area. The steak truly is fantastic, among my favorites are the garlic steak and the flank steak and who can resist the grilled pineapple? The wine list is extensive and has choices from countries outside the United States. This is a lively, busy restaurant, great for a night out with friends!

All the meat I had was very good and of course you get as much as you want. Found the ambiance to be good. The drinks were slightly pricey but not unusual for San Francisco. Overall a great expereince and slightly pricey but definetely got my money's worth.

If you get the chance to go here please do the meat salad and service is amazing from start to finish

This is definitely a special occasion restaurant. Minus one star for the price ($54/person) and some of the meats were super salty. This is a Brazilian buffet. There is a buffet section with salads (green, potato, chicken), and other salad bar offerings plus a hot section with rice, paella, salmon. My advice, do not try to "get what you pay for" by filling up here. Get a small portion of what you want to try and don't eat too much because you want to fill up on meat! The carving guys come around to your table at regular intervals to carve meat off of skewers for you. There is everything from filet mignon, sirloin (different flavored), chicken, pork, sausages (pork and chicken), even grilled pineapple and chicken hearts. The pork was hit or miss, sometimes a slice was dry, sometimes not. All of the steaks were delicious as were the sausages. The carvers do a good job of coming by and serving you, we never sat there waiting for food. Be prepared for a meat hangover at the end of the night. The chocolate mouse was wonderful, served in a chocolate bowl. They even brought us out a mini ice cream with candles as it was our anniversary. Super expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Be prepared for the price. They do not tell you ahead of time and it does not say on their website. I saw the price from another reviewer. Parking is a pain. You need to find street parking and even at 5:00 on a Saturday, we had to park several blocks down. The neighborhood is a typical SF neighborhood, but I don't know if I would've been happy having to walk back to the car in the dark.

This place is amazing. Even though it is located in a little "dodgy" neighborhood, its a fantastic restaurant. The buffet is big and has plenty of variations, and when you sit at the table, the food starts comming to your table for you to taste. I think we tried 12-13 different meats, shrimps, sausages, chicken and such. The service was nice, the price was reasonable. Can ONLY recommend this place to everyone!

I felt very welcomed and taken care of the whole evening. Everyone was courteous and helpful, without being pesky. This place offers a ton of different types of meat, which I don't think I even had room to try all. Such tender and smokey picanha, delicious shrimp, pão de queijo, farofa de bacon, amazing fish stew, Just all around impressive and filling. Worth the money!

We love churrascarias, as Brazilian citizens, thus, Fogo de Chão use to be always visited by us wherever we are out from Brazil. However, where those restaurants have branch, almost always you can find competitors, as Spettu's, Espetus, etc. In San Francisco we have been to Espetu's to compare with its main competitor. The result for our surprise was outstanding: Excellent food, grates beefs, nice servers, good price, great variety of side dishes, well, you can enjoy a fantastic Brazilian food at a better price than famous chains. I'll definitely recommend Espetus in San Francisco.

OK, definitely not cheap, but a great place for a last meal in SanFrancisco before heading back to the UK. And, as others have highlighted, this is definitely for folks who like their meat (pork, lamb, beef, chicken) although the shrimp were excellent as well. One word of warning, do not be tempted to fill up on the salad bar goodies because the meat is definitely the centrepiece of this culinary experience.

We were disappointed. Most of the tables appeared to be work groups - men. We were 5 friends. Our friend chose it because she knew that 3 of us had met and lived in Brazil for many years. We were stunned by the price for lunch which is really ridiculous and there are other options in SF. If you are a serious carnivore, it is may be a bit different. The farofa was a treat but not as good as we had hoped. Again Couve was disappointing. I guess the point is if you can eat a lot of meat and want that more than a Brasilian menu than you don’t really care about the buffet and just like paying a lot of $$$ to have someone bring meat to your table. Service was great and they were very responsive to requests, but this is only for the person who wants to gorge on meat.

The wide selection of meats brought to your table, all so tasty, was an awesome dinner. It seemed endless with the choices from beef, chicken, lamb and fruit rotating to your table. A little spendy but worth the experience. Didn't get to the dessert, too full from the main courses.

Visit this pricey but worthwhile Brazilian restaurant whenever visiting San Francisco. Great food and wine and salad bar superb. BBQ meats the best. Save your appetite and expect to spend $160 for dinner for 2. Worth every Penney.

I come here for dinner often, the food is delicious. The meat is so flavorful and juicy, my favorite is the filet mignon and pork belly. The salad bar has a big selection in addition to hot options such as rice and vegetables. Make sure you have a reservation or the wait can be long.

Well what can you say about a place that wraps bacon around a piece of filet mignon and scallops. A meat lovers dream.

We have been to several Churrascarias over the years and this one did not disappoint. The staff was fun and helpful and quick to come around with the various meats. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The salad bar was very good, although I didn't eat too much of it, knowing there would be plenty of meat to choose from. Our table ordered several desserts and they were all awesome!! We really enjoyed our visit there and would definitely return here on our next visit to San Francisco.

Everyone has to do this, unless you dont like meat. . There is a salad bar, but that's not what it's all about. Adam our waiter explained it to us, you turn you wheel to the green and then the meaT guys come and offer you meats, off all sorts, you turn it to red and take a break. This was awesome there was everything from chicken hearts to bacon wrapped mini slider steaks. Roasts and more. Then when you've had enough there is the desert menu, definately reckmend the papaya sorbet.

My wife took me here to celebrate my belated birthday and it was a great experience. We walked in around 5:30 and were seated without a reservation. The restaurant itself is very nice with a great atmosphere. It is well maintained and smartly decorated. One of the first things you'll see is the very tasty salad bar arrayed at the back. We were seated and promptly explained the process (red means stop, green means go - for meat!) and served an appetizer platter of fried bananas, fried polenta, and mini cheese buns. We helped ourselves to the very nice looking salad bar which included a variety of different salads, fruits, and other anti-pasto type things (e.g., prosciutto, olives, tomatoes, etc.). The main attraction, of course, was the copious amounts of barbecued meats that get brought out and served to you. The meats were all very tasty and included several kinds of beef (top sirloin, prime rib, beef rib, steak in red wine, etc.), pork, chicken (wrapped in bacon), lamb, and home made sausages. All the meats were hot and delicious, carved right at your table side for you to grab with the provided tongs. We ate until we were full and enjoyed every bite. The service was also excellent as our server was attentive and helpful. The restaurant started to fill up and there was a pleasant vibe in the place as the servers buzzed around with the different meats. Overall, it was a great dining experience. The buffet is $54.99 which I am not sure if it's advertised. I read on a few reviews that it was near $50 so we weren't surprised but I wanted to make sure to mention this in case people were wondering how much it cost. This was considered a treat as we don't typically eat out in this price range. But it was totally worth it as it was delicious and a very nice experience. I would definitely recommend this place to meat loving friends and would return to eat again.

The real Brazilian churrascaria in the heart of SF. After a round of meats, they will actually ask you for your preferences and will bring them to the table. Turned out a bit pricey once one round of cocktails and wine were added to the bill.

disaster. first we were seated at 9:15 for 8:30 reservation, which can happen as I will explain. second, the food is at best average. salad bar is good. meat presentation is good and interesting, but the cuts were at best average. the setup is totally an all you can eat venue, which is why some people might take 2 and a half hours to leave. It also explains why they can't have the top quality cuts, it is quantity over quality. For the same price I know of at least 50 steak places that serve a better steak (maybe not unlimited portions), in particular i am thinking of a wagyu beef I got on nob hill japanese place. anyway, if you have to go here (I wouldn't) don't go second seating as you may be waiting forever...

Was worth going to be out with family and having a good time. Not completely impressed with what they had for the price, $54 per person is outrageous. We have been to other Brazilian Steakhouses and have had very good food that was much more flavorful. I'm not saying its a bad place but not somewhere I'll visit again, too expensive and too noisy. The staff was friendly, they all seemed like they wanted to be there and are very helpful.

If you’re craving for Brazilian style meats in SF then this is the place to go. You do need reservations as it can get crowded even on week nights. The best part about a Churrascaria is you won’t need to bother with the menu. You just sit down and start eating. The salad bar was average but the seafood soup was fantastic. The meats are the main star here and it does not disappoint. The Sirloin or Picanha is the best among all the cuts. This is the king of Brazilian cuts and it’s executed perfectly. The other meat that truly impressed was the Pork Belly. It was exquisitely barbecued and the skin was crisp and tasty. Third on the list is the slow cooked short ribs. Tender and melt in your mouth. Wine selection was decent and I went for the reasonably priced Argentinian Melbecs. Let it breathe a little and it is as good as any more expensive American reds. Overall it has been quite a pleasant experience and I’d recommend this place to satisfy your Brazilian cravings.

Meat meat and more meat Most authentic Brazilian steakhouse I’ve been to in the USA, all the way down to the beef ribs on the cart and the chicken hearts. We had about 45 min before repeats (I wouldn’t have minded a lower number here for the bacon wrapped tenderloin or the grilled pineapple Drinks were great as well, yeah there is a salad bar but that will just fill you up

We were in the mood for a good steak and found this place by doing a simple Google search. We were not disappointed! Meats and meats, great wine, tremendous salad bar and excellent service. Normally "all you can eat" places are a bit shabby and the quality not great, but this place is high class and the bill in the end also a bit higher than we expected. Truly recommend it if you want that perfectly cooked steak(s) and a great evening! Dont miss out on the sirloin, the pinapple and the filet mignon!

This was my second time going and it was still very delicious as my first time. I enjoy the all you can eat salad and unlimited meat! My favorite was the shrimp and grilled pineapples! I also rather enjoy their sirloin. This is not like the Brazilian restaurant you seen on tv with the dancers. This is a much fancier and nicer place. Service is great and very friendly and welcoming! The only thing I didn’t like this time was when I walked in it wreaked of a smell like a cleaned bathroom. At least it was clean smelling ha but not the pleasant kind more like bleach... it didn’t seem to bother anyone else and after a little while I didn’t notice it anymore. Other than that I still would most definitely go again. Food is GREAT!!

This is a place to meat lovers. I went there for dinner, they had more then 11 Meat Selection from Picanha (Sirloin) to Filet Mignon. The Server was great, you don't wait for the meat, it is just coming all of the time... the dessert menu is also excellent, try the chocolate moose (big dish) it is a bit expensive but it worth it.

Not going to say huge amounts here. The food is great and just keeps coming for as long as you are hungry. Not really a place to go if you are vegetarian or on a budget, but for a special occasion it's a good place. The meat was excellent especially the Tri tip and the Sirloin but to be honest it was all good, even the chicken hearts.

I took my team to Espetus for dinner and they did not disappoint. The Caipirinhas were strong, and the meat plentiful and tasty. I found the pork and chicken most tasty, as well as the sausage. While I enjoyed the beef, most of the cuts seemed to taste the same, perhaps they mixed them up in back... All told, it was a greate experience and much fun was had by all.

Having been to the Back Bay Brazilian in Boston I assumed this would be equally classy. But alas, no. Located way down Market St - ominous enough ! We went for the dinner menu and sure, its all you can eat. However, the choice in the cuts of meat was disappointing. Good enough service. Wines also a little on the expensive side. At th eprice, unless yo are very hungry, I'd go to a standard restaurant, or go at lunch time, where the choices are 7 cuts instead of 14, and stick to water.

We went here as our last dinner of our honeymoon after reading amazing reviews. They have great service, a delicious salad bar, great wine selection and great beef/chicken variety. Our only problem is despite having top quality meat... most of it tastes the same! Not sure if it's all cooked over the same grill or they use the same spices, but no matter what the cut, it's pretty much the same thing, which made me feel it was a little bit over-rated (and over-priced).

A buffet style restaurant. You will have amazing options of meat; Chicken, turkey, beef, shrimps and pork. The salad bar is beyond great as well. The parmigiana steak is soooo tasty. But I believe it’s a bit expensive. We paid $150 for 2 persons.

When you crave meat, Espetus Churrascaria is the place to go. The difference here is the quality of the meat and number of choices, compared to other Brazilian steak houses. The skewers arrive tableside with choices of sirloin, lamb chops, beef ribs, filet, chicken, and many other cuts. Even pineapple, which can be a wonderful palate cleanser. Our hands-down favorite (after the lamb): the chicken hearts (see photo). A large salad bar offers many choices, including grilled eggplant, olives, prosciutto, and salad greens. However, pace yourself for the parade of meat. We have been here and the San Mateo Espetus multiple times, and we are never disappointed. The restaurant can be very noisy, especially on our last visit when there was a large group celebrating a birthday next to us.

I have to say after trying out other Brazilian steakhouses, Espetus still comes out on top with its salad bar, steaks and my favorites - the grilled pineapple and cheese breads. Other places will charge you extra for the pineapple - really???? I'm glad that they got the shrimps back, they stopped it for awhile and now it's back. Anais

Espetus offered a great variety of steaks at a very good quality. They were able to deliver it from rare to really well done as some people in the table had different preferences. The salad buffet is also very delicious with good variety. Only the price that I think is a bit off comparing to other places. I think it could be a little bit cheaper despite the good quality they have.

Very tasteful dinner in brasilian Espetus Churrascaria steal house. Good snacks, wonderful steaks, especially barbecued ananas, very good service. Strongly recommended!

We really had a good experience dining at Espetus Churrascaria. Our reservation was for lunch and the 7 different meats made available for us was more than enough to stuff our hungry tummies. We particularly liked the sirloin steak and the grilled pork belly which were really tender, tasty and spiced just right. I skipped the grilled chicken and only tried a bit of the sausages. We tried a bit of the salad bar and other cooked dishes at the buffet but we were all looking forward to the meats. Service started out slow but when the grilled meats were brought to our table, we were not disappointed. The restaurant had a great location and was easy to locate. The Muni station is right outside the restaurant. This is definitely a place for meat lovers and offers great value for your money.
while you're hungry
We went there for a lunch, and from the buffet selected kind of salads, cheeses and more. They serve different kind o meat, chicken, pork each round to each table and they serve it unless you say enough by turning icon on table to red. If you are still hungry turn it to green, and they start to serve meats again. Some meats are with cheeses are too salty, hypertension patines should be aware of it. It all tastes good.
