We chose to dine at our favorite San Diego French Restaurant to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary!!! Having skipped lunch, my wife was starving so we ordered two appetizers to share. The first we tried was the Pan Roasted Quail, which was cooked to perfection! Accompanied by the black truffle stuffing, onion compote, smoked duck, huckleberry sauce and artichoke mousseline, the quail was perfectly complimented and absolutely delicious!! In fact, the artichoke mousseline was so delicious I asked for more. Our second appetizer was Aumônière de canard confit. The warm duck confit croustillant with dark cherry sauce and confit tangerines was just as delicious. The frisée and tangerine salad provided balance to this meaty dish. Each of these appetizers can easily be light meals on their own, especially with a baguette and a excellent glass of wine!! For our main meal, we each chose the Lapin Farci au Romarin. The roasted rabbit leg was cooked to perfection and with apricot-rosemary stuffing and Dijon mustard sauce was absolutely delicious!! The braised mustard greens, confit potatoes, baby carrots were a well-balanced accompaniment! A share of a Tarte for dessert topped off a very memorable meal!!

This is our first time here and was very surprised what good French dishes they served. Our server very friendly and helpful. The dishes we ordered was excellent. We had the escargot, French onion soup, Linguini aux palourdes, pesto de tomate,Joues De Boeuf Braisées Au Vin Rouge, Soufflé Du Jour. We highly recommend this restaurant for good food and service!

This was the best meal I’ve had in San Diego. Everything was so well prepared and so full of flavor. It was hard to decide what to have with so many good choices on the menu. The apricot soufflé was tempting, but we shared the crème brûlée trio, which was absolutely fabulous.

What a wonderful place. Et Voila French Bistro deserves it's reputation as best French restaurant in San Diego. Delicious quality French food, wonderful service and fabulous ambiance! I can only recommend this restaurant!

Each dish was perfect and original. The owner is very friendly. The ambiance is nice. Don't forget to leave room for deserts . They are delicious.

Such a great evening, starting with truly great cocktails (thanks Jess!), through mushroom ravioli, coquilles St Jacques and cote du porc, and finishing with cheese, profiteroles, and port... Decadent, and perfectly presented (thanks Jeff!). This team is taking a lot of pride in what they do, and our hats are off to the Chef! Such a find - we have to come back!

Located on Adams Ave, in a family oriented community of Normal Heights. Our party of five each enjoyed a different appetizer and entree and each was delicious. The presentation and quantity was just right so that we had room for the dark chocolate soufflé. The service and staff were extremely attentive however not at all intrusive. The prices are reasonable in the moderate range. There is full bar service. Dinning is available both inside and and outside.

Sometimes you find that special place for every holiday, such as Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, New Years Eve, a Birthday or just to have a romantic evening and this is the place!!! We love coming here and THE FOOD IS JUST DEVINE!!! I am a former NEW YORKER so being impressed is often difficult...this is a MUST...

Mother’s Day prix fixe: 3 courses. Food was phenomenal! I enjoyed my Bibb SALAD with radishes, walnuts & fresh strawberries. The dressing was very good. My entree was a generous portion of COQ AU VIN, which was tender and had a delicious sauce. For dessert, I finished my meal with a CHOCOLATE TORTE. it had a nice crunchy layer with a light interior. I need to come here more often! See photos!

Little gem in San Diego. Excellent option for a nice tranquil and exclusive French style Cousine. Great service, amazing flavors, and atmosphere.

Was told to try to Pheasant unfortunately our server announced that they had none. So went with the Quail. Which was very good but very small. Had a nice Grenache red wine, we passed in dessert. Nice place in busy area. Our server was a bit too eager.

Adorable French bistro with a good selection of liquor & wine that offered good French food. Escargot were good. My pork chop was okay but everyone else raved about their food. About a 20 minute drive from downtown but I would go again.

Want to feel like you've been to Paris without the cost? Then give this restaurant a try. We recently dined there following a production at the Old Globe and could not have been more pleased. We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Our waitress was friendly, professional and attentive. We were dining with friends we do not see very often, and we were never rushed though we were there two hours. The menu choices had all of your French favorites: frogs legs, snails, French onion soup, and to-die-for souffles. (This night it was a peach souffle with a blackberry sauce... yum!) Add to this the fact that wines under $100 were 30% off on Wednesday night... great deal! Among the four of us we had two steak frites (both components were perfectly cooked) served with green beans, the John Dory served with a potato galette and broccoli and the duck breast served with the potatoes and an assortment of vegetables. Portions were not the tiny ones you sometimes encounter in France. My husband also started with the mushroom ravioli which were clearly homemade and delicious; we all sampled! Every dish was hot, beautifully plated and tasty. If the idea of finding parking in this popular area puts you off, know that if you simply drive across the Adams bridge east of the restaurant, parking is readily available. And on the weekends, they offer valet parking as well. The ambiance, the food and the service mean we will definitely visit this spot again!

We invited family to meet us at Et Voila! for dinner on a Sunday evening and it was a pure delight. The first visit for all of us, definitely not the last. A warm greeting, immediate seating, drink order taken right away (impressive fancy drink menu) and attentive, but not overbearing, service by all in the bistro. We shared the meat and cheese starter, lots of stuff, all yummy. For my main, I had the bleu mussels and they were meaty and delish, great broth and the fries were hot and thicker and better than most moules/frites. Everyone else had an array of different entrees and all raved. Steak, the house special, and more. Sister ordered the lemon souffle dessert and thought it was great. Hubby had the apple tart and loved it. We left sated, but not stuffed, the sign of true quality food. A great local gem of a restaurant and we'll be back to try more more more.

Excellent service, value and food quality. The lamb tenderloin, scallops, and tiger prawn entree's are stunning. The lamb tenderloin has been perfectly prepared twice! The scallops are five star. The bread is crispy, crunchy and soft inside.

Excellent find! Loved the ambience, excellent service and superb dishes. The summer salad and the Scottish Salmon were bursting with amazing flavors. I would highly recommend this neighborhood restaurant. They are on Opentable as well.

Modest setting, good French food - yes I am a Francophile. Not spectacular, but very good. Right now my second favorite restaurant. The place is a little crowded, the service slightly off.

Exquisite food, excellent service! Squash raviolis to die for, superb Coquilles St. Jacque, delicious Orange creme brulee'! With well paired French and California wines. Will definitely return!

Friends suggested this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Everything first-class and attention to detail was second-to-none. Full bar with an exciting array of cocktails and quality wines. The menu was extensive and true French cuisine. Hard to pick just one or two items for dinner. Presentation and taste was superb. Friendly staff who provided excellent service. We were made to feel very welcome, even though we were late due to parking issues. Thank you for a lovely evening. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the joys of living in San Diego is being able to go this outstanding little French restaurant a few times each year. If you're visitor, I stronly suggest you get a reservation and go. As a local, you gotta try this place! First, get a Smoked Bourbon Bijou at the bar (watch it made). Then when you get to your table, order the remarkable ravioli, or the fois gros two ways - or better yet, both. Resonable but nice wine list. Professional service. Bring a bottle from home, buy one at the restaurant, and there's no corkage. That helps make it a great destination for four people who love good food! Plus there's a tine row of tables on the sidewalk outside that's fun for the locally-famous happy hour this place offers. Really worth a visit!

Enjoy the assorted pre courses. Main courses were well done. Steak were cook to my expectation. Duck was perfected done.

We went with a friend to the three course price fixed Bastille Day celebration dinner with wine pairings. It was as great as ever, the selection of dishes was wonderful, service was outstanding and the food was delicious. It is still the best French restaurants in San Diego.

Arriving during the end of Happy Hour, patrons were enjoying the restaurant inside and out and seats were available at the few tables located on Adams Avenue. We chose to sit at the bar. The decor is modern and classy with dark brown woods and tables against each wall (not reminiscent of the former occupant grocery store). We started with simple cocktails of a Ketel One martini and a Campari and soda. Both were perfectly poured by the expert bartender, Daniel, who has worked in many fine LA establishments previously. At first service was a bit harried, but became much more relaxed as the evening wore on. The restaurant has a Happy Hour menu from 430p-600p too. We started with the Happy Hour mussels which were some of the best I have eaten in San Diego with plump open fresh mussels without the slightest grit or sand. We also had the Steak Tartare (from the regular menu) which was the best I have eaten in San Diego tasty fresh and with a nice blend of spices and herbs. We also had the foie gras terrine which was silky and decadent and almost the equal of the finest Michelin restaurants in France. The chef certainly is very talented and cares about every item coming from the kitchen. The terrine was accompanied by a peach compote and grilled peach (no cornichon though). We had a nice glass of Sauterne which went perfectly. We ordered the dessert souffle of the day which was blackberry and was huge and amazing with a creme anglaise prepared in a tiny cast iron pot. Soooooooo delicious!!! (must be ordered ahead at the beginning of the meal). The wine list is mostly French with a good selection of French varietals. We had a nice Puilly Fume which went well with most of the dishes. There are so many wonderful dishes on the menu that I definitely have to return!!! I highly recommendation this French restaurant for the high quality of cuisine, the wonderful and talented bartender and for the location and service!!!

My friend told me he had found the most delicious French restaurant in his neighborhood. I have since been here 3 times since November and every time the food and waiter have been amazing. I can't help but get the mushroom ravioli appetizer which I share as it's very rich. My friends swear by their French onion soup. The mussel and frites are sumptious. I've also had their scallops, delicious. My husband always gets the steak and frites while friends have had the rack of lamb. Understand the portions aren't huge, similar to France. Oh, did I mention the souffle? You have to give them 20 min. notice. Light and fluffy, not to sweet and enough to share. We've had Bob, our waiter, twice. Right there to fill our glass without being intrusive. If I had one criticism it would be to add a few more wines under $40. I believe there's only 2 reds. The prices may be slightly above the norm but worth it! Parking can be difficult but a great find in North Park.

We were a group of 6 ladies celebrating a birthday. They sat us at a round table which was awesome and cozy so we could chit chat the night away. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great. Some of our favorite dishes were the mushroom ravioli, blue cheese muscles, the lamb chops, and the Duck was out of this world! Oh and don’t forget the fig cocktail.

Drove 40 minutes to get to this restaurant. Called first to make sure of closing time: 9:00 PM. Showed up at 8:24, and they blew us off! Kitchen closed, and too bad you drove 40 minutes! Do not waste your time with this rude and obnoxious place!

We started with Escargot, which is always something I get in a French restaurant. I wasn't sold on the hazelnut topping, but they were good, none the less. My wife and the other couple with us had Steak au poivre et frites (steak and fries) - they all agreed it was good, as was the bite my wife shared with me. I had Duck Confit, which was good, but the skin wasn't as crispy as I typically like it - though I did eat it down to the bone. For desert, the couple with us got the chocolate mousse, and my wife and I split the profiteroles - a nice way to end the evening. Service was slower than pre-Covid days, but as the flyer that came with the menus stated - Everyone is short-handed, so please be patient. With that, we never felt like our table was ignored or forgotten. Bon Appétit!

We were a party of 10, had drinks and appetizers. We were celebrating a big birthday for a family member. We brought in our own birthday cake to celebrate the occasion. When we got our check, they added a $31.00 cutting charge without telling us. The owner argued about the cost of washing ten plates. He was so adamant about the fee, finally he removed the bogus charge and told all 10 of us to never come back. DON'T WORRY, WE WON'T. Hopefully this will persuade others who read this review about the overcharging. Our drinks ranged from $14.00 to $18.00 each. I don't think they lost any money on us.

Sitting on my porch in Maine, about ready to return to San Diego, I picked up Westways Magazine. My eye caught a review of a new restaurant that sounded interesting, Et Voila. I told myself that I would try it upon my return.....and I'm glad I did. The chef really knows how to cook extraordinarily delicious dishes. Open since April, the owner had previously been part of an upscale restaurant in La Jolla. The restaurant is very stylish with simplicity. I went for there appetizers, wine, and desert but will return for dinner. The house-made mushroom ravioli was the best I've ever had, and the white/dark chocolate soufflé was delectable. Combined with an ample choice of good wine, pleasant atmosphere, scrumptious food, and good service, this restaurant is a find!

This was my first time to have dinner here and it was a marvelous experience. The food was superb, beautifully plated, and everything from soup, salad, entree, to dessert all tasted wonderful. I had the Butternut Squash and Ricotta Ravioli, Pan Seared Scallops, and Orange Creme Brulee. Each dish were delectable and the service was impeccable! The servers were very attentive and took notice of napkins out of place, filled near empty glasses of wine, topped off cups of coffee. My friends and I had such a wonderful time and vowed to be back again. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high end dining experience in a semi casual atmosphere. One advice for those who may feel uncomfortable sitting in narrow seats, reserve in advance and request for booth seating.

So we were searching for someplace new to go for Thanksgiving and came upon Et Voila, a small French restaurant on Adams Avenue. Raining like mad and the trip was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride but we made it. Parking difficult in this area but that was the only downside. Fixed price menu for Thanksgiving. Started with a cheese and onion compote tart that was outstanding, with a side of arugula dressed in the house pomegranate dressing that was to die for. Next up, turkey cooked two ways with all the trimmings followed up by a pecan cranberry tart that was basically a pecan pie with a side of sorbet, both of which were exceptional. Hubs mousse was really good also and we had excellent wine. Service was outstanding, unfortunately I neglected to get the server's name but she was awesome. We intend to return so we can order off of the regular menu. We loved this place and would highly recommend.

Ludo Mifsud, formerly at Tapenade has taken the su chef from there, Vincent, and opened a classic French bistro. He has a typical bistro menu, but the selections are excellent. His escargot, coq a vin, and lamb dishes are wonderful My wife had the salmon served with a crab cake and another in the group had the braised short ribs. All were done perfectly. We shared a raspberry soufflé served with a chocolate bourbon sauce. The lightest soufflé I had ever had. Prices quite reasonable.

Four of us shared a fine dining experience. First thing is to find parking. They do have a valet service but we did not find it. We ended up parking a few blocks away. I started with a good Manhattan. I tried the fixed price menu offering of smoked salmon & blue crab roulade, grilled Wagyu top sirloin with potato gratin and finished with creme brûlée's a l'orange. It was all good and the creme brûlée was outstanding. Emily our server recommended a couple of red wines that were good not great. The fixed price menu without wine was $40. The dining area was full with people waiting when we left around 7:30. Noise level was high but not awful. We enjoyed this experience and will return.

We dined last Friday evening and were blown away by the food. The service was very good too, but the food, cocktails and wine selections were outstanding. The authentic French food was beautiful and delicious. We found a nice variety of entree options, including vegetarian - we chose steak and pork and both were prepared perfectly. Et Voilà is an amazing option for great French food on the edge of Normal Heights. Parking in the neighborhood can be challenging on the weekend, but the restaurant offers valet parking around the corner on 30th Street. We will definitely be back and make this an option for dining with out-of-town visitors!

heard good and a little bad. the bad is the music. little too loud and disco. the good, excellent happy hour and food. This bistro seems out of place, but is in a great neighborhood French Bistro, filled with locals. nice patio and great bar also lots of dinner seating. only had happy hour food, escargot, crab & shrimp cocktail cheap drinks. talked to some locals and they raved about the food. After a while the chatter dround out the bad music. but still nice atmosphere. Front is wide open to the patio.

I am so happy with this experience. When the food arrived the whole table lit up. Great recommendations on wine. I will come back!

We came over from Coronado expecting a really bistro. It was only average. The salad was $13 and really not worth it. What can greens cost. The pepper steakbwas not very tender and certainly not with much pepper. The cook should read Julia Corkage was $25. Most other restaurants charge nearer to $15

What an excellent addition to our Adams Avenue neighborhood! If you love French cooking, you must have a try. It's a bistro, not a fancy place, so no need to dress up. From the gazpacho, coq au vin and French wine, everything was excellent.

Excellent in every aspect. Menu, food, beverages, service, value, etc. were all top notch. Very authentic French cuisine.

Four for dinner and 3 of us had the Onion Soup, so special. We had the short rib combo and the salmon and the duck. Everyone raved about the food. Will go back soon!

My friend and I had dinner last night at this delightful restaurant. We chose the special menu for San Diego restaurant week. Lovely choices. My appetizer was a wonderful soft French cheese wrapped in Filo pastry accompanied by a lovely salad. Our entrées of duck Alaranch and a veil do I were both very good and the desserts were terrific. We were lucky enough to have Sara as our waitress and she was absolutely wonderful. We can’t wait to go back.

Overall a wonderful place for fantastic food and drink. However I had only one regret. The escargot did not have enough garlic or butter sauce. It was overdone with breading. My son in law had the duck but did not care for the baby turnip or carrot moussaline. My wife's choice of lamb was outstanding. However if you go you must have the COQUILLES SAINT-JACQUES DU MAINE, SAUCE CHAMPIGNON.

Craving fois gras but don't have time to fly to France? Hungry for classic escargots, French onion soup, or a light salad with amazing bread? Head to Adams Avenue; Et Voila will satisfy! This bistro really does offer a variety of delicious food--with many French classics--at a fair price. Fish, beef, lamb...they are all beautifully cooked and artistically presented. Add a good wine list, friendly and knowledgeable service, and a handsome yet casual atmosphere, and...et voila! This is a popular place so reservations are suggested. Give yourself plenty of time to find parking; this block is loaded with good restaurants and you may have to park several blocks away.

Sorry. I know no French. But this place is excellent with delicious food and excellent service. Intimate atmosphere so great place for dates or celebrations.

Et Voila French Bistro is a nicely France decorated restaurant that has some very tasty dishes. The Bistro is a little expensive but it is worth it. Their French bread they start you with is delicious and we heard is shipped in from Canada's bakery Boulart ! We went to their Tuesday Night Happy Hour from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Their Happy Hour is really good as they have much lower prices for many food and drink items. I had the TEQUILA MOCKINGBIRD for $8.00 which was made with El Jimador Tequila, Orange Curaçao, Agave, Lime Juice, Passion Fruit Raspberry and Purée, and Habanero Bitters. We also had a RIVIERA MULE for $8.00 which had Skyy Vodka, Ginger Syrup, Lime Juice, and Passion Fruit Purée. For some food items we tried a BEIGNET D'HARICOT VERT for $7.00 which was Fried green beans tempura, with tomato-basil aioli. We also tried the TARTE FINE MÉDITERRANÉENNE for $11.00 which was Flat bread, garlic cream, pancetta, onion compote, and reblochon cheese. It was very good. Nice French Restaurant.

Attended one of the summer concerts on the bay with the San Diego Symphony one August evening thinking we could get food there. Choices were severely limited with long lines so we decided to have a late supper somewhere else. My friend suggested Et Voila and called to see if we could get in around 10. All set. The evening went on longer than anticipated and with a lengthy exit from the site to retrieve the car, we ended up on getting to the restaurant until 10:45 (how European..ha!). They still had tables occupied so we didn't feel totally silly. Service was outstanding and charming. Food was delicious, fresh and very typical of French bistro fare. es, we did end up closing the place but couldn't imagine a better experience for such late-night dining. One major word of caution. Parking is a pain in this neighborhood. No lots so street parking is the only option and it can be non-existent on a weekend night, especially. Take Uber or plan ahead for this challenge. Then enjoy a sweet lovely little boite with great food and service. Best meal I had in San Diego.

The last time we dined here, it was a mild disaster. The waiter made two (2) appearances.Once to take our order and once to deliver the check. The work fell to the bus boy on a very busy night. He did a magnificent job. I paid with an Am Ex gift card and a personal credit card. The waiter had no idea how to run the cards and totally screwed up. It took two weeks of emails to straighten it out. Tonight was the opposite. Graciously greeted at the front door by the handsome man with tats and jeans, we sat at the bar with our new best friend "Missi" who took wonderful care of us. We had mussels, frites, cheese platter, terrine, and a great pinot noir appropriately named "The Calling" from the Russian River Valley. An excellent choice. Service was great from all concerned. When we ran into a mild hiccup about yet another gift card, it was easily taken care of. A very nice evening!

Come support your local restaurants that follow safe social distancing! We just picked up a quiche and a brunch box, everything was delicious. The kids were excited to eat something other than my cooking and the hubs and I got to enjoy brunch from the safety of our house. We were here once before when the restaurant was open for my birthday maybe a year ago and the food and service was delicious as well. Definitely worth every $.

At this Newly discovered French restaurant for my husband and myself, we had reservations for a weekend night. You must try the tempura MUSHROOMS ! We had these light & fluffy, tempura-battered, salty enoki mushrooms as an appetizer. It is listed as a SIDE DISH. We tried the 2 different duck entrees: the duck confit and the duck magret. The DUCK CONFIT was a crispy leg and thigh with a potato galette , shaved beets, and vegetables. My husband said it was fantastic. I tried something new for me, the MAGRET de CANARD, which i asked to be cooked medium. It was a flavorful duck breast served with a sweet, tart, salty huckleberry sauce. They look like tiny blueberries. It was accompanied with cauliflowers, and a potato galette layered with thin slices of eggplant. With one 1664 French beer & 1 rosé de Grenache, 1 appetizer & 2 entrees, our bill was $112, not including tip. The attentive friendly service, amazing food, presentation, atmosphere all made for an enjoyable dining experience.

We're fans of French bistro food and this place did not disappoint. Starting off with excellent bread and well-made cocktails. Followed by very well prepared entrees. The steak frites was particularly good. The moules mariniere was a little odd, with cream in the broth, but pretty good nonetheless. And the creme brulee dessert combination was outstanding. The list of wines by the glass is short, but sufficient. The only slight disappointment was the onion soup, which is a bistro staple, but here was kind of bland. The owner and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The room lacks any real atmosphere, but the food makes up for that. The biggest problem here is parking, which is difficult even on a weeknight.

Et Voilà French Bistro... You must go! Absolutely beyond delicious. Cozy, comfortable, excellent service, beautifully, composed dishes, all of them very lovely and mouthwatering. Frenchman Vincent Viale, is Chef & owner. We had the mushroom ravioli, which was insane. I had the pan roasted quail which was so satisfying and delicious. We started with the beautiful charcuterie. The pate was off the chain. We also enjoyed a board comprised of 2 fromages, and the most beautiful and delicious , fruit, jam and Marcona almonds. We had the Tarte au caramel for desert, which was another home run. Honestly, I would go again tonight if we could. This local gem must not be missed!!! Bon appétit!

Not a lot of atmosphere. Definitely bistroish not formal. I had a nice sparkling Rose that was reasonably priced. Two of us had short ribs and they were good but too sweet. Maybe this is how the French make them but too sweet for beef. Beef was incredibly tender. Breads fantastic. One had the clams and linguine and she said it was fabulous. For dessert I had fresh strawberries on black current sorbet. Delicious. The chef put a nice dollop of whip cream on it which I couldn't eat because of a respiratory dairy allergy. But I had a small taste and man was it delicious. I don't know what he did to it but I almost risked eating it because it was incredible. Maybe it was the way he whipped it, I don't know, but my friend said she could have eaten a bowl of it. Hostess and server were both lovely. Might go again but not a lot of choices for someone who has to go dairy free.

Was looking for both a unique AND memorable Anniversary Dinner - found it! Salade de melon ET Pasteque (What was that!!!!) Watermelon, cantaloupe, feta, olives, basil, arugula sorbet - soup or salad or both but simply amazing! My wife had the salmon and I had the duck and both were perfectly cooked. The sauces on both were just amazing. Lastly, the Ile Flottante dessert, with a chocolate “Happy Anniversary “ was the perfect touch. We will not forget this great, great experience in San Diego, where we honeymooned 35 years ago! Thank You Et Voila!

Perhaps the best meal of our Californian trip. I had duck which was cooked to perfection! My wife had salmon which was equally good. If you are fed up of fast food and want a real dinner, then this place will do nicely!

We decided to try this place out since we were doing an alternative music MeetUp discussion nearby. We had reservations for 7 pm, but still had to wait a bit at the bar because the place was slammed! The bartender was very accomodating, and the host updated us twice before giving us an awesome corner table. Now for the best part... the food! We had the squash soup and the reblochon for starters, and the monkfish and flat iron steak for mains. All were really, really good! The monkfish was better than most of the seafood I've had recently at top seafood restaurants in the area, and it was served with a very lovely (and subtle) fregola/squash side. The steak dish was basic, but very tasty (even the French fries were awesome!). We were full but just had to try a dessert, so we went with the chocolate mousse and a latte. It was heavenly! The food is not cheap, and the service is a bit slow, but it is very much worth it! The ambience here is also really nice... they had the place all decorated for Halloween. Might have to come back and see what Christmas looks like!

I have to review Et Voila again. Exceptional food every time!! My friends took me there for my birthday. We were greeted by Ludo who knew it was my special day. I have dined here since they opened. Missi, the wonderful bartender made our fabulous cocktails. Try the smashed blackberries. The wine choices are superb. Ludo can suggest what will pair with all of your food choices. The room is elegant. The staff is stellar, attentive, professional, and never makes you feel rushed. The cooking is consistently the finest best French food in San Diego. Vincent turns out superb meals, from the appetizers, don't miss the amazing mushroom ravioli, to the perfectly cooked fish, game and meats. And for my vegetarian friends the choices were excellent. This is fine dining at a warm and real neighborhood Bistro. The desserts in a word are scrumptious !! A real soufflé. Trust me as good as any you've ever had. Make a reservation and treat yourself to a wondertul experience!!

If you're looking for a dining review keep looking however if you're after a GREAT local spot for drinks/wine/apps then read on, my friend. LOVE this bar. Just the right size and our bartender was spot-on with service, kindness, suggestions. Drinks, great. Wine, great. Service amazing. The three apps we ordered were great too. Some regulars came in and we struck up a great conversation. Very friendly place. Smooth atmosphere. We'll be back.

On a Saturday evening we Ubered over from our Hotel so we could drink and not worry about parking. We arrived 45 minutes early to enjoy Happy Hour drinks and share the country pate appetizer. I did not see it listed on the dining room dinner menu. The bar is stocked with French aperitifs. If you don’t have reservations the bar is a good option. We were seated promptly at the minute of our reservation. We then shared the pork belly and pastry wrapped salmon appetizers. The pork was succulent with frisée and poached pears. The salmon looked like a sushi roll, but was crisp and very tasty. The couples on both sides of us ordered entrees that smelled and looked delicious. We decided to order the special pear soufflé as our main dish. Wow. So light and heavenly. We will be back to try more dishes.

Six of us ate at EV on Aug. 29th. Overall, the food and service were excellent. I had the duck breast in a cherry sauce which was done perfectly and the sauce was subtle and not overly sweet or tart. I complemented the duck with a nice syrah/grenache blend. The service was excellent and the restaurant is nicely appointed. A solid 4+ star restaurant and highly recommended.

$12 Ride from the Gaslamp district. Went for Tuesday night “Date Night” menu which included a bottle of wine with dinner. Charming family feel with outstanding food and intimate atmosphere. Order the mushroom with white truffle appetizer and beef bourguignon for your main course. The vanilla soufflé and chocolate mousse were both superb. Never had a dessert mousse so expertly made. Just incredible. One of those meals that goes in your best list.

This place is amazing. Husband is out of town and I wanted good food - my test of a restaurant is how they treat you as a solo female diner. They didn’t hesitate to seat me in the best window seat in the house on a Saturday night. Perfect service; never rushed but always there when I needed it. Great wine list; very satisfying cheese plate. And the cucumber gimlet is jaw dropping. I lived in Europe for five years and this place gets the food right. Will definitely be back.

We had a late night Friday night meal at Et Viola. Food was superb. We enjoyed their superb foie gras prepared two ways. For dinner I had museels, which were in a very nice wine garlic sauce. My husband very much enjoyed his salmon. For dessert we loved the souffle. One needs to decide early on if one wants the souffle as it takes time to cook. Service was superb. Its a wonderful place to dine. We made reservations on open table in advance.

I want so much to enjoy this Bistro, but on my fourth visit, I'm not wanting to go back soon. Uneven service, food preparation and noise are keeping me away. When will restauranteurs begin to understand that no one likes to dine with music so loud you can't hear one another.

The 4 of us tried a new restaurant. I ordered the lamb filet, medium. It came a little bit on the rare side, but was delicious none the less. Dessert was very nice and our server was very attentive. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but not difficult

Eaten here twice, Had the short ribs and the steak. Both were very nice. Nice Foie Gras also. Onion soup is a tad sweet for my taste. Corkage price is a bit high as well. Should be $15 for the neighborhood. Service is still spotty, but they've only been open a month. But I will be back, this is a great addition to the neighborhood. Very glad they've opened up.

What a gem of a place! We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and the food was magnificent. I ordered from the (much appreciated) vegetarian menu, mushroom and asparagus risotto that was out of this world. Everyone else was thrilled with their choices as well: butternut squash soup and the ravioli appetizer; a beautifully presented pork chop; and one of the specialties of the house, mussels, about which the birthday girl said, "I've had plenty of mussels, but none better than these." For dessert, we shared chocolate mousse and profiteroles, the latter reminding me of my time in Paris. The service was attentive but not pushy and all in all it was a great evening. I highly recommend this place!

The owner is French and the food is authentic French. Delicious baguette served w/ butter aside. Service is attentive, even the non-French one. Parking is difficult on the streets around there, but following the owner's advice we found a spot on the bridge nearby.

I only learned about this North Park French restaurant recently and had to try it since I'm quite a francophile. I had the FETTUCCINE AU SAUMON FUMÉ, BEURRE BLANC (fettucine with smoked salmon). It was delicious!!! The portion was a bit small, I thought, and it was served in a large dish which made it look even smaller but every bite was to die for. The decor is quite casual with a bit of French flair. There were other great sounding dishes on the menu but I'm not used to paying that much when I eat out. My friend, who has spent a lot of time in France, had the duck and he said the sauce was too peppery - something the French wouldn't go for. He enjoyed it just the same.

This, sadly, is my "adieu" to Et Voila, a restaurant of unequalled parallel when it comes to French cuisine. But the service disaster I experienced last Christmas has me running - not walking - to any other French restaurant. So here's the skinny. I owed my bestie a birthday dinner so I stopped in at Et Voila to see if they had any reservations for Christmas. The problem is that I waited until two days before to find out they were - duh! - booked solid. When I mentioned this to said bestie, she suggested we go the day after Christmas. So I went onto Tables.com and made a reservation for two for that Sunday night. Now, Sunday I had to work. But between working, I spent the day running around getting roses (rose petals, anyone?) confetti, balloons and other birthday gear designed solely to embarrass someone. When I realized that the only thing missing was a bottle of champagne awaiting us, I went to the site to see their champagne list. And that's when IT happened. I went to their website and discovered that due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, they closed down and cancelled all their Christmas recommendations. And I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM SUPPORTING THAT DECISION. But I never got a call, an email, a homing Pidgeon, nothing. Now, if I were some rando who had never eaten their before, I wouldn't have been nearly as upset. But the fact that I am - actually, was - a regular who spent a good chunk of change each and every time I went in - I expected a phone call. Well, I reached out to them by email. (See Photo #1). And I was pleasantly surprised by the quick response - almost exactly an hour late. But based on this email, wouldn't you expect a phone call from Ludo? I mean you screwed once and then, to add insult to injury, you email me a response. YOU HAD MY NUMBER. GET OFF YOUR DERRIERES AND CALL ME. Don't email me with this how-could-this-possibly-have-happened, I'll check-all-our-fail-safes. Invite me back to your restaurant you. My God, you ruined our Christmas weekend! So, I waited. And I waited and finally, since they seem to have forgotten, I emailed them to find out what happened that weekend to our reservation? And do you know what Ludo wrote back saying? (You can read the response in picture #3.) Are you people for real?? Basically, you told me that as the fox who guards the henhouse, you will make sure no hens are eaten. There's a famous French saying: Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait. It basically translates to don't trust appearances. My mistake was trusting that the quality of the food is matched by their level of guest service. Boy, was I wrong. Au revoir, Et Voila! Their response.

This restaurant is a gem and based on what we had definitely deserves a Michelin star. We had a tasting menu for Valentines' Day which included wild mushroom ravioli, lobster, and duck. It could not have been better! The restaurant is attractive and the noise level is quite moderate so that a conversation can be held. The service was perfect. This is a wonderful place to go and can be recommended without any reserve.

The owner welcomed us in a very warm manner. The food we ordered was excellent from the snails, rooster to the profiterolles. The Tuesday night "date" prix-fixe menu includes wine. Ambiance is pleasant and not too noisy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a wonderful and intimate French bistro. The menu is authentic French and the experience is delightful. No one will rush you here. The menu had something to please every palate and the wine list is impeccable. For those whose tastes range more toward cocktails and beer, there is a lovely selection of each. For a romantic evening out or a special occasion, you can't go wrong here. The price point is in the higher range, but you absolutely get what you pay for here.

When visiting our beautiful San Diego, venture into the less glamorous neighborhood of Normal Heights and experience this hidden gem. The Bloody Marie is delicious and is topped with tempura mushrooms that are out of this world. My husband had the Croque Madame and I had the classic Benedict. Both were amazing. The potatoes were cooked to perfection...soft and delicate with perfect spices and light olive oil. Our waiter, Sammy, was delightful and made our brunch even more enjoyable. The decor is very tasteful and clean and the restroom is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. Great eatery off the beaten path that is worth seeking out.

Having dined at Et Voila before with mixed results, I chose to try them one more time while in San Diego. We arrived to a busy room and were quickly seated at a nice corner table. The service from the waiter was excellent throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food was practically inedible and a feeble attempt at preparing French bistro style cuisine. The so called "terrine" was not a terrine at all but two dollops of a grayish brown mess on a cutting board. This was not even pate and looked more like Fancy Feast. The funky taste was inedible. The salads and vegetables were good but that is not what I had ordered. The other appetizer, the Steak Tartare, was equally inedible with a vile odor and the flavor of sub-par beef not the high-quality cuts normally associated with Steak Tartare. The main courses were mixed results. The scallops were rancid and had the taste of spoiled fish and an equally nasty smell. (the waiter did remove these from the bill). The sea bream was actually well cooked and tasty--the only edible item for the evening (not counting the bread). The wine list is really quite nice, and the wine (a Chablis) was really delicious. I do not plan to return or recommend as this is the third bad meal and experience at this restaurant. If you want French bistro cuisine in San Diego, go down the street to Bleu Boheme in Kensington or Bonne Table in Hillcrest as Et Voila truly has no talent in the kitchen and you are paying high prices for bad cuisine.

Introduction: Et Voilà restaurant reminds me my very typical modern bistrot where i used to go during my days off back in France. Myself chef and owner of several type of restaurant in Lyon's area. I have spent most of my time behind my "batterie de cuisine" with my second and all my chefs of partie. Excuse my english. To be a chef it's a lot of work at least 16 hours a day 7 days a week. It's a lot of dedication and passion. I m always pleased and surprised when i read reviews. But honestly reading this review about Et Voilà restaurant about a customer giving several month of life for this super nice french bistrot is a little bit too much for me. Before letting know my opinion about Et Voilà restaurant i need to give an answer to this gentleman. He does not know anything about restaurant and french people. We love american and we love everybody. We have a lot of dedication in our tradition and our cuisine. We go to school and at the same time learning in a kitchen for at least 4 years. All this time is about learning the right skills to make at the end our customers happy. We sacrifice our family life time and we do it with the smile and the sweat. Sir you don't look happy in life to spit like this on my people and this super nice french bistrot. You have never run a restaurant you are not a culinary critique writter. By the way shame on trip advisor to let such bad reviews like this.... very discriminatory against french people. Here is my review for Et Voilà restaurant : I got for appetizer a Salmon carpaccio : very well balanced in taste with a very clean presentation. The duke confit : i love duke confit from my childhood and this one reminds me my chilhood so it's a thumb up. The Soufflet : great and by the way a soufflet can be made only at the minute. Wine list very affordable for a bistrot. Service : excellent eventhough made by mexican people.... The day they will leave your country, you can close all your kitchen in california + other states. Viva Mexico !!! I hope you guys all the success that you deserve and by the way i was this litlle man asking for bread all the time last table on the right ;)

I’ve been meaning to try Et Voilà for some time now and finally did when my family was in town and we were celebrating 3 birthdays. The small street front makes this restaurant look a lot smaller than it really is. Once inside, you get the full picture of a beautifully decorated restaurant with nice music setting the atmosphere for a great time. I had made reservations on OpenTable and we were seating upon entering. The server asked whose birthday it was and we told him of the 3 birthday folks. Service was very nice throughout the dinner. Our server was friendly and knowledgable about the menu and wine pairings. A couple of us had the Pheasant in mind for dinner, however, they were out of this - for the rest of the season. Luckily, there were numerous other tempting offers on the menu. We started with some beef tartare and the mushroom raviolis (as we were told they were one of the best items on the appetizers). The tartare was standard and hit the spot. The raviolis were a bit on the sweet side. The baguette had a cute touch as it was wrapped and came with instructions to break it, not cut it. Since the Pheasant dish was 86’d, we gravitated to the Roasted Venison Loin, Roasted Duck Breast, and Braised Wild Boar Shoulder. Our server told us that these were great selections and quite popular with diners. Duck is typical for French restaurants, but the Venison Loin & Wild Boar were not as common, so we were excited to try them. We really like venison and wild boar, but have not had it in a French restaurant (in America) before. The venison loin was very tender and was cooked to the medium-rare we wanted. It was decent, but kind of on the bland side and could have used more seasoning. The huckleberry sauce was also light and didn’t do much to lift the loin. The wild boar was also very tender, but bit bland as well, however, the potato puree was deliciously season! Of the three entrees, the Duck was the best as its was seasoned well and not bland. And although it was accompanied with the same huckleberry sauce as the venison, the sauce complimented the Duck much better. As we had been eating throughout the day, we had no room left for dessert. Our server remembered that we were celebrating birthdays and wished a happy birthday to the 2. We laughed at the 3rd birthday person who he forgot about. I was glad to have finally tried Et Violà. The service is good and the food is decent.

This amazing bistro has the flavors of a Michelin starred restaurant without the trappings of pretentiousness. Incredible food with an amazing staff. The cocktails and wine menu are top drawer. Thank you Ludo and Vincent for creating a neighborhood bistro that keeps the local regulars coming back again and again. I am fortunate to count myself among them.

Et Voila may be the closest thing to a true French bistro in San Diego. Our party of four went there on a week night and it seems to have already been discovered, yet we were seated promptly in their modern rendition of a French bistro - comfortable and attractive. Over delicious Ricards and White Negronis, we perused the many tempting offerings. We each had two courses which we loved, savoring the chef's creative take on traditional French dishes. The portions were ample. Among them were escargots in pastis and butter, soupe l'onion, salade de chevre, pork chop, filet de duraude, duck leg confit. I could list more but suffice to say, they were uniformly delicious. Boom! Every plate was completely cleaned! We were full but still reluctantly passed on the souffles because that night it was apricot souffle and will await another flavor when we return which is certain. Parking is a bit scarce in the area, however Uvber or Lift are worthy of consideration too and might make your night more carefree. Merci for a wonderful night, et Voila!

Upscale wonderful French restaurant. Stellar service and Superb cuisine. Can not rave about this restaurant enough. Outstanding place for an intimate meal. Truly a 5 star restaurant. Everyone should dine in this restaurant at least once. You won't regret it.

A little cold on the patio - but way more atmosphere than inside. Very good food but I wouldn't say the best french food I have had, I had the duck and it said cerise ( cherry ) sauce- but it was another berry and only sort of sweet. I liked it- didn't love it. The french onion soup was traditiona and good- but again , didn't knock my socks off. What was special was the turbot- I woud order that next time. The bread was also good and the wine by the glass was good. We had a very charming waitress- but she didn't understand french- not even the menu translations ( there was English under the frech titles- but she should know the translation- no?) Anyhow, I was hoping it would be my new favorite but instead it was just enjoyable. PS I had read they had souffle deserts but they didn't when I was there. C'est domage!

The appetizers of French Onion Soup & Escargot were an excellent way to start our dining experience. My wife had the special - filet w /foie gras & I had the steak. Both were cooked perfectly. Desert include chocolate mousse & souffle. As I said to the owner, this a gem and we will return. Texted our daughter (a foodie) that she needs to visit this establishment. My wife found this restaurant through the AAA Travel magazine.

Had visited when they first opened and were still working out flow, preparation, service, etc., so not a great evening. Based on recommendations from several knowledgeable wine and foodie friends, was looking forward to going back. A bit disappointed. Wanted to try the frog leg appetizer ($14) but they were out. Went with the excellent escargot ($12), six Burgundy snails with pastis, garlic and parsley butter, and a side of frites ($5), nicely prepared, crisp and salty. We enjoyed the Colorado lamb ($30, en croute with a mint sauce), although the sauce was a little overpowering with our Burgundy wine. The first biters of the Cote de Porc Tomahawk ($32), with mustard sauce, were memorable – moist and tender. But about half of the chop was layered with fat so didn’t finish. It came with tasty mashed potatoes, but the charred rapinis were tough and bitter. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. We probably need to try it again, given how much others have liked it. We heard others praising the mussel dishes ($20) so that could be our future order.

Visited recently for my birthday dinner upon our son's recommendation. Place was packed on a Tuesday night, perhaps because it was couples night, with $50 3 course dinner/pp with wine. Menu was extensive with many classic French dishes such as my choice, beef bourguignon, although my wife's selection of mushroom risotto was also excellent. Desserts were outstanding, especially the mousse, creme brulee, and profiteroles. The place to go for reasonably priced French food in SD.

Overall, we loved this place. Fantastic ambience, service and great food. Two soups are excellent, potato/leek and the classic french onion were great. Main courses were a bit mixed. my pork chop was amazing. perfectly cooked. However, the "classic" coq au vin" was more like "cocoa" vin. WAY too much chocolate and tasted like a weird savory dessert. Maybe someone slipped in the kitchen, but there was nothing classica about that dish. Desserts good. But other than the parking challenges, its a great place to go.

We went to Et Voila! for brunch and sampled their offerings during a recent San Diego visit... we were greeted by a most pleasant hostess, and our orders were taken quickly by the polite wait staff. The coffees were quite tasty, and the food was delicious... we’d highly recommend the mushroom ravioli, which were made with wonderful fillings & were topped with a delectable sauce (laden with fresh fungi of course :). Located in the antique district along Adams, this bistro is definitely worth a visit... enjoy!

My husband chose this restaurant for my birthday surprise dinner, I always want French cuisine for special occasions since I lived in France. The charcuterie’s duck rillette and pate were delicious. The scallops were devine, I can’t explain what was in the sauce but it was tasty!! My husband had the duck confit which was amazing. And they do have a kids menu. Superbe!!

We have been disappointed in the past to see our French Bistros in San Diego either deteriorate in food quality or overprice themselves for what they offer. Et Voila is only 2 months being open and we discovered it by accident looking for a place to eat before the Sunday movies. It's a find that we have added to our must visit frequently list since it's authentic French bistro menus meet any French food enthusiasts' every wish for quality, atmosphere, welcome, food choice and bistro enjoyment. Et Voila is modern French bistro in design, with a large open window to the outside where curbside tables are available to diners. It has a small but beautiful bar with options to eat at the bar and side bar, as well as a full dining room of comfortable tables. Even with the number of visitors for brunch it seemed a very intimate setting. The design added to our experience.\ there. The French and Italian chefs/owners worked together at a restaurant in La Jolla previously, therefore, the precision of the service and food were far beyond the start-up mode and totally wonderful. Their experience in delivering wonderful meals was already far beyond our expectations. Service a;so was incredible as the French always make it. Various members of the staff helped with service which enhanced the friendly atmosphere already there. Our server, Aimee, was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about Et Voila, its history and offerings and contributed to our enjoyment of our meal anticipating every need. Et Voila currently serves brunch on weekends with a great menu. We had mussels with fries and eggs benedict with chocolate mouse and black currant sorbet for dessert. Yes, they offer the same great dessert menu for brunch as well as dinner. The brunch menu was very reasonable. The dinner menu offers a more extensive group of French bistro items, again at a reasonable price for the great quality of the restaurant. Although we did not sample the wines, their list had many fine options to choose from. Et Voila is located near the main intersection of Adams Avenue and 30th Street in Normal Heights (3016 Adams). There is metered and non-metered street parking during the day and the restaurant can make suggestions if you call them or visit their Web site as to where to park in the evenings. This has to be our best find of 2016 in San Diego and we can't wait to visit again for what will become a special occasion by just being there. Wish they were located in our neighborhood !! Enjoy.

This is a great restaurant. Doesn't look fancy yet the food is delicious (the important part !!!) We have been there for brunch and for dinner and both times were not disappointed. Authentic French food, the bread basket, the cheese plate, the souffle... all excellent, well presented and delicious.

We returned here for the first time is several years and found it still very good. Onion soup, venison, sea bream all were well-prepared. Creme brulee was a delicious finale. Staff were friendly and attentive without overdoing it. Prices are a little high, but the quality and size of portions make it worth it. The one problem is lack of nearby parking, as there is no lot and street parking is filled by area residents and patrons of other businesses.

We ate here for the first time last Saturday night. We were very impressed with the food. Cauliflower soup, French onion soup, cheese plate, stuff quailed lamb and steak were excellent. Their in-house made French bread is addictive. As someone who lived in France, I appreciated authentic French bistro food instead of what passes as French food in most restaurants. We look forward to going again and trying differen things on the menu. We did not have a chance to eat dessert.

Where do I begin? OK, reservations were a good idea. Also find out about the soufflé before deciding on what to eat. We had a LOT of everything not to mention a fabulous time - the staff is terrific. Left feeling fabulous (when what we really were was overfed and quite possibly obnoxious). So, do stay for the soufflé.

My wife and I visited Et Voila! shortly after it opened and, in all fairness, I was not too kind. However, I've written restaurant columns in the past and I believe that an honest review helps both the consumer and the owner. Why put a good frosting on everything? I'm happy to say that since my first review I've returned five or six times. Each time, things were better, except for the French Fries, which they cannot seem to grasp. During Happy Hour the bar now often fills up to the point that all of the seats are taken, so I go early. During my last visit, I had the Escargots. I won't say that they were typically French because they didn't reek of garlic. Instead, the taste was delicate and delicious! Like a Frenchman, I dipped my bread in the sauce until I had a clean dish. Also, they had and always do have now, a good selection of French wines by the glass. In a previous visit, I re-ordered Mussels. I told the bartender they should have a good Muscadet to accompany the Mussels, as in France. Et Voila!, the next time I stopped in, they had added a Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine. Service is getting better and better. I hope the owners pass on the traditional elements of service to their staff. For me, it's just not acceptable to go to a French restaurant and get the happy-go-lucky style of American service. Nevertheless, I have nothing but good things to say now and I look forward to my closest watering hole to get 5 American stars! Bon courage!

This is my favorite French restraint in San Diego. All the food is great. Great cocktails and service. The best bread. If you get a chance to get one of fixed price minus with wine pairings do it, you will not be disappointed. My friends and family eat here often. I give this restraint my highest recommendation for special occasions, dates, or just a nice dinner out. For our anniversary, I set up a special tasting dinner with wine pairing for six people. I told them I wanted $100 per person to cover it. It was incredible and our friends still talk about that dinner.

The food was wonderful, we had the steak and fries, another party had the lamb and I had the shrimp which were the size of local lobsters, very tender and sweet. We had the mushroom appetizer and it was terrific. Everything was served very professionally. In fact the staff asked, which was amazing, if they could clear our plates. So nice to ask not just assume we were finished. We finished our delicious meal with blackberry soufflés. We are going back again with more friends this week!

Et Voila has arrived on the crowded Adams Avenue dining landscape and thankfully provides a reliable fine dining alternative to many of the adjacent restaurant options. Visitors will find an extensive menu that includes all of the expected French classics as well as locally sourced alternatives. Service is professional and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is understated but welcoming and the food is consistently excellent. Well worth a visit.

One of the BEST FRENCH restaurants in San Diego. It is packed! Make reservations! Dim lighting, nice decor, lively crowd of guests with excellent food and service. The WINE FLIGHT is a great way to try some new wines. You can’t beat it. I loved the DUCK BREAST with sauce. See the photo I included with my review.

I've been watching and waiting for a long time to check the place out. I certainly was entertaining fantasies of a new French bistro to hang out in on a regular basis. Sadly, in my opinion, if they don't get it together, they'll be selling out or closing their doors by winter. They've made a lot of basic mistakes. We went during happy hour for a light dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. Surprisingly, they didn't have any French wines by the glass. Aside from not making sense, who's French around there? When it comes to wine, the French are down right chauvinistic. I'm American, but I'll take a French wine any day even over a Napa appellation. We went for the Mussels and ordered Truffle Fries on the side. For whatever reason our bartender made the decision to not place the Fries order because it didn't come with the Mussels. Unfortunately, I shouldn't have complained because they couldn't have been more mediocre. There was zero evidence of Truffles. They said they used Truffle oil. If they did, it was waved like a wand over the frozen Fries, which was another disappointment. The French restaurants in France even make their own Chips and I can't imagine them using frozen. The service was not even remotely up to par. Unfortunately, it seemed they hired service personnel from typically average American restaurants, where supposedly personality replaces knowledge and experience. Hiring was a mystery to me. I'm not saying I won't go back. If their doors are still open in three months, I might try it again.

Very creative and tasty French Cuisine, great regular menu and wonderful daily special creations. A rare find.

Food is very good, corkage fee invites you not to bring your wine, service and ambience are great, full bar

My husband I enjoyed the menu. They were very accommodating with his ketogenic diet. He had a wonderful cauliflower soup, cheese course, and prime rib with blue cheese and green beans. I’m picky about bread, and it was great French bread. The wine list is good but there aren’t many options by the glass. My salad was very fresh and the blood orange vinegarette was excellent. I had a very tasty cherry pistachio soufflé to finish- Et Voilà !

Saturday night dinner. Did a number of dishes. Scallops excellent, short ribs mediocre, salad lousy, beet salad great, souffle desert great, as was Sancerre wine. Solid B score for wife and B- for me. I have to question that it is worth 100 per person with tax and tip. My opinion: at these prices you are better off at Mister's A's or Marine Room for maybe 20 percent more but with way better food......John and Grace

This looks like a hole in the wall - but it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We began with the French onion soup and the mushroom ravioli appetizer% I will forever dream about that ravioli… My partner and I shared the rabbit and the pork chop entrees - both incredible. I wasn’t sure if anything could top the ravioli app, but the dessert platter with a small portion of 6 of their desserts was divine. Great service, phenomenal food. Don’t let the outside scare you away!

Oh, the sauce on my steak poivre was sooo good! The steak was tender and flavorful. And the green beans were perfect! A bit al dente. Not cooked into mushy submission as at my school cafeteria. My husband enjoyed his scallops and potato soup and especially the little bread with smoked salmon sandwiches that accompanied the soup. Our friends really liked the salmon dish. We all floated away with the heavenly souffle of the day-- lemon. The atmosphere is romantic. Take your sweetheart to a thoroughly satisfying dinner at this relaxing restaurant.

Friends invited us to dinner eat at this bistro.. located on Adams Avenue just west of I-805 (across the street from Polite Provisions bar).. We were seated quickly.. brought our own wine ($25 corkage, I think). We also bought a bottle from their wine list. We had a charcuterie plate to start - well provisioned with three types of cheese, hard salami, cornichons, honey and jam, mushrooms, and prosciutto, with a nice multi-grain bread. this was followed by escargot, then dinners of salmon, mussels, diver scallops, and lamb.. all well prepared and presented. Split plate charge is $2.50, reflected on the menu. All in all, an enjoyable evening of good food and wine in a nice environment.

My wife and I have visited SanDiego many times during the past 10 years where our daughter and son in law reside. We are always looking for a different dining experience and Et Viola didn’t disappoint. Located in the Normal Heights neighborhood, the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The French aspect of the menu is just the right amount of appetizers and entrees and reasonably priced. Our server, Lydia, was pleasant and attentive. We all ordered appetizers and they were delicious. We weren’t rushed to order entrees and when we did our choices were delicious. The restaurant was busy for a Friday night and our servers were attentive and professional. The manager visited our table and thanked us when we left. Valet parking is a nice touch as the area is rather busy. This was one of our best SanDiego dining experiences.

If I broadcast how terrific this restaurant is, I'm afraid it will be overrun, and we'll never get a table again! The food, the presentation is something I have only seen in France. Amazing, from start to finish. And reasonable!! The Grand Marnier souffle is definitely a must, or actually, any of the dessert souffles. Order at the start of dinner. This is a restaurant that San Diego deserves...finally. We've been three times, all for dinner, all exceptional experiences. Congratulations to the owners and chef!!

Et voila is wonderful French restaurant. From the time we entered the restaurant to the time we left, we were really happy with the service, the restaurant ambience and the food. Our server, Alma, was wonderful. She gave us good advice on what to order and timed our dinner service perfectly. We started with the salade du jardin au bleu- a delicious salad containing bibb lettuce, endive, toasted walnuts, pomegranate seeds, pickled shallots, radishes, gorgonzola, pomegranate vinaigrette, continued with the poached sea bass ballotine including tarragon mousse, broccoli ravioli, fennel, romanesco and champagne sauce (My husband had a lamb shank). Finally, for dessert we had the best profiteroles I had ever had with lots of chocolate sauce. It was a really pleasant evening. I will go back when I return to San Diego. It was one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at!
Night out on a rainy day
We had an early 4:30 reservation, We started with a huge and very good plate of Mussels with Chorizo. These were really really good and we used the loaf of French bread to dab up the broth. Our mistake was ordering this and 2 main course. too much food for us. My wife had the excellent smoked salmon fettuccine and I had the pan seared scallops. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. When we left around 6 pm the bar was full.
