Lovely Food, Nice Staff and Genuinely Authentic Italian Food at Reasonable Prices

By Gail A |

We are here for a few days from Scotland before heading east on a bit of a tour We struggled to find somewhere nice to eat with non processed food. This is it! It is clean, welcoming, authentic and has some super dishes. We have vegetarian/vegan in our party and the menu is laid out very nicely to show both. The outside eating area is very nice - Staff are very attentive and knowledgeable and we would thoroughly recommend the tiramisu!

adequate

We enjoyed our meal but would not rave about it. I had a pasta with seafood which was cooked a bit too al dente. Wife had a chicken with vegetables that was too large for her. Nice wine for $5 advertised on A frame on sidewalk.

my all time favorite because the sauce is light not too thick and creamy, great calamari salad and greek salad as well!

New recipes - just as wonderful!!

By Vicki K |

We've been coming here for years; some new recipes for old favorites pleased our group of 6 cousins: the skirt steak was perfectly medium rare, and so very tender! Joey had the lasagna, one of his favorites, and he was surprised to find it tasted different - but excellent nevertheless. There was a gnocchi on the table that was professed to be perfect - everyone was happy!

Delizioso

Fabiolus Cafe is a great little spot to enjoy a meal on any occasion. The restaurant is open and airy, featuring a large window front (perfect for people watching) for indoor diners as well as a cozy open, but covered, pavilion for those choosing to eat outdoors. The food is spectacular and prepared with great thought and love. I have eaten food from Fabiolus Cafe on two occasions, once as an in-restaurant diner and once as a guest at a catered event. Both times the food was delicious. In- house I enjoyed several courses, including a memorable lamb dish with roasted potatoes. The combination of flavors and textures was complex and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection. At the catered event I also enjoyed several dishes, my favorites being salmon with dill sauce and the antipasto appetizer. All of the offerings were delicious and way better than any catered food I've had. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating on both of my dining occasions as well. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back on my next trip to LA!

Cozy, delicious, and reasonably priced - in Hollywood!

Fabiolus is delightfully unpretentious, with great execution on their well-constructed menu. It's one of our top picks for dinner before seeing a movie at the Arclight. You get a lot of bang for your buck compared to other eateries nearby.

I really enjoyed my date here last night

By L2Connelly |

My husband and I had an impromptu date here last night and I loved it. The pasta was homemade and very fresh. Simple dishes, prepared really well. This was the best olive tapenade I have had too. They bring you bread and tapenade to start you off. Normally, I find olive tapenade too strong, but here it seemed just right. The staff was excellent. We sat outside the front by candlelight and it was nice being on Sunset, but not the crazy, loud part of Sunset Blvd. I would like to come back and try their Sunday brunch. The inside of the restaurant looks very classy too, and they have an outdoor patio in the back too.

Good Italian, great value in Hollywood

By ianbeavis |

A large group of us went here for dinner tonight. The semi outdoor area is very comfortable. We ordered some special appetizers that were excellent; particularly the thin crusted ham pizza. Everyone enjoyed the ample portions of their main courses. The food was well prepared and while not really authentic Italian, very good. Their wine list is interesting in that it is broken by price point. Some bargains to be had here if you know your stuff. Our waiter was really excellent; could not have done a better job. This is a good restaurant that I will definitely eat at again.

Great Food Close to Patagnes Theater

By jsdCalifornia |

We needed to find a restaurant close to the Pantages Theater as we had tickets to both the 5:00 pm 'Behind the Scenes' tour and the 8:00 pm performance of Wicked. We had about an hour to eat dinner. After trying to contact Hollywood & Vine restaurant for about a week without success (it is closed!), I read about Fabiolus on Trip Advisor. It was great! It is located a 10 minute (two block) walk from the theater. I made reservations on line, and got a personal response. I was particularly concerned since the 'Behind The Scenes' tour was supposed to end at 6:30 and was unsure about what time to make reservations. We went ahead and made them for 6:30 but gave our cell phone numbers in case we were late. When we arrived we were seated promptly and our orders were prepared quickly, but we did not feel rushed. We had pasta and it was very good. Our waiter Fabio was attentive without being pushy, and made sure we had ample time to get back to the theater for the show. The atmosphere is casually elegant and is appropriate for families as well as couples. If you are unfamiliar with this part of Los Angeles and are looking for a nice meal before a show at the Pantages, Fabiolus is a great choice.

Disappointing

By Mom_of_Alex |

Made reservations here based on the Tripadvisor reviews. I don't understand why there was such high praise. The food was okay, nothing special, but nothing really bad and definitely overpriced for what you get. The waiter asked if we wanted parmesan, and I assumed we would get freshly grated cheese. Nope. It was Kraft that they tried to fool you by putting it in a different container and having the server sprinkle it on for you. The service was terrible. The waiter never checked on us, never refilled our drinks. In fact we never saw him after he brought our meals until he brought us the check. There are so many other restaurants around Hollywood, do yourself a favor and go to one of those instead.

Charming. Welcoming. Scrumptious

By KerryM |

This restaurant is a gem in Hollywood. The owners are a husband/wife team who tend to every detail. Service is impeccable and the food is authentic Italian. They hail from Verona. They are committed to helping the community -- a rarity amongst Hollywood restauranteurs. Restaurant is undergoing a remodel that will be FANTASTICO!

Dinner before Pantages

By danjobe1 |

Relaxing atmosphere before taking in a show at the Pantages Theater. Authentic Italian Waiters and a great selection of Italian Super Tuscan wines. Just make sure you save room for some unique desserts. Fabiolus Cucina

Enjoyed the Food and Atmosphere

By Rashi |

Good Italian food. I had risotto and my family had different pasta dishes and we all liked what we had. Waiters were very friendly and we were pleasantly greeted as we entered the restaurant. I recommend it as a place for good food, wine and pleasant surroundings. The tiramisu is amazing. Don't miss it. There's parking available in the back, which is helpful on Sunset Blvd. It's a good place to go to when you're seeing a show at The Pantages Theater. It takes several minutes to walk there. You just need to walk up to Hollywood Blvd. I'm definitely going back.

Friendly, comfortable, good food, good service

By befkatela |

Family of 5, including 3 boys ages 11, 15, and 17. The two younger ones learning to become more adventurous with their meal choices. They have a very cozy outdoor section which is semi-private and partially covered so even on a sunny day or windy afternoon it is comfortable. The servers are friendly and attentive. The food was delivered in a mostly timely manner, (bread was late) otherwise drinks were refilled frequently. The kids enjoyed their pasta and my husband the lasagna although my eldest felt the lasagna pasta was a little over cooked (and I would agree) and I greatly enjoyed my bruschetta. When it came time for dessert, we finally made the decision to go with the chocolate cheese cake instead of the tiramisu. Sadly our server came back to inform us they were out of the cheese cake. We chose not to order the tiramisu but he brought it out anyway on the house. Wish we could give it a 4.5, but alas a 4 it is. If in LA again we would go back for the comfortable ambiance, friendly service and overall good food.

Not the best experience

By AnotherNiteOnTheRoad |

When we reserved our Pantages Theatre tickets online, Fabiolus Cucina was one of the nearby restaurants recommended on the theatre's website. Since we had no idea about the area we decided to give it a try. Our Uber ride from Burbank was only about 35 minutes, which our driver said is really good for rush hour. We arrived at the restaurant and it was a little confusing as to what to do. We had a reservation through OpenTable, and since we couldn't find a check-in desk we just stood there until someone approached. It was a chilly evening when we visited, and our table was outside. Even though there was a heater on the patio it was still a bit cool. After we were seated, it took us around 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a server, and we ordered our drinks. (They were delivered a few minutes later by someone other than our server.) Fifteen minutes or so later someone brought us bread, and about 10 minutes the server took our food order. We had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. Nearly 40 minutes later our food arrived, and my Penne Shrimp Pasta wasn't hot and my husband's Pollo Parmigiana was only lukewarm. The other person at our table had the Lasagna. The food tasted okay, but would have been much better at a proper temperature. We had to wave down our server and ask to see the dessert menu. We ordered the Tirimisu, which took 25 minutes to arrive. (Normally I don't focus so much on the time it takes for each step in a restaurant, but this time it gave us something to do while we waited!) After we finished dessert we had to wave down someone to ask for our check. Our water glasses were not refilled again, and I was never asked if I wanted a second glass of wine – which I would have liked. The food was what I would consider average for an Italian restaurant. Service on the other hand, was not average at all. In fact, it was pretty bad. Fabiolus Cucina is only about a 5 minute brisk walk from the theatre, but we were glad we had given ourselves plenty of time before the show. My suspicion is that the restaurant is popular because of it's location and the fact that most of the patrons are from out of town. Plus, I am sure that the Pantages has a profitable arrangement with the restaurant in exchange for the business directed through their website. When I have an experience unpleasant enough to leave a negative review, I always try to look for the positive. So here are the positives: The house Pinot Grigio I had was nice. The bread was fresh and tasty. The Tirimisu was very good. But, given the number of restaurants in the area we would not choose to go back to this one.

Another US adaption of what should be Italian cuisine

By Fritz M |

The Italians are usually eager to please their customers and so are these guys - they are eager to please their mainly US customers and hence are bit disloyal to their origins - a bit more cuisine authenticity would maybe not be a bad idea ;-) However - the place is, from an Italian point of view, ok.

Great Choice on Sunset Blvd...

By mauimann |

after a drink next door at Magnolia, we went for dinner to fabiolus...and so glad we decided on here instead of there... first off greeted straight away by most pleasant hostess with infectious smile for all seated outside/patio area, at a more private table...nice... service staff was on it from the get go...others have mentioned the great service here and I have to agree...friendly but not in your face... opted for a bottle of red...(see picture) from the 35$ listings...I've seen a few other places set up their wine list like this and I for one, like it...alot...and as others have said if you know your stuff there are some good values here at all price points (the list was priced in 5$ increments)... Fabio the owner personally came to our table, as he did to every table, to greet and welcome us...and to assist in wine selection...he then also came back and opened the wine up for us...again see picture...I've never ever seen any place/person present a bottle of wine with the style and grace that Fabio did...Mahalo! started with one of my standards of comparison...Caesar salad, shared...8$...nothing wrong with theirs...better than average... then went for polenta pesce...19usd...much too watery for my taste...it was supposed to be the pesce (seafood mixture) over grilled polenta but far too much sauce for my taste, again see pic... dining companion went for the pollo rosmarino...excellent choice...nice portion, perfectly cooked and presented and yes I tasted it and it was some good...yummm...great fresh veggies on the plate too...16$ also went for a side of sauteed spinach with garlic/lemon...6usd and what you'd expect this dish to be... finished off with flourless chocolate cake at 7usd, which to this G F guy was perfect ending... got to say not much to fault at this eatery,...attentive service...nice ambiance...good to great food and certainly great value... bill was 100.00 plus generous, well deserved tip...hard to beat at any other place considering all that we had... as mentioned by others very close to The Pantages and many other tourist sites/attractions,... highly recommend... we

Good food. Good service.

A nice restaurant on Sunset Blvd in the heart of Hollywood. Food is good as is the service. I parked my car in the lot before we went to a show at the Pantages and had it waiting for me after dinner. I'd eat there again.

Great food, Great Space,Great People!

By Chase H |

I had a fun evening with a new friend at one of my old haunts, Fabiolus Cucina (formerly Fabiolus Cafe) in Hollywood. Even though it's under new management these days, it did not disappoint! The salmon and vegetables I had were scrumptious. The presentation was very nice. They still have that terrific unsweetened Passion Fruit Iced Tea. And they had a very dry Prosecco that just seemed to melt in your mouth and had a nice, clean yummy finish. My friend had hers as a Mimosa and said it was delicious. She was also quite pleased with her salad. Their people are great, the service was top-notch, the vibe is laid-back, and the prices are reasonable. The space is mostly outside, but coveredand heated. It's the perfect place to go before a movie at ArcLight Hollywood.

Good value, decent food and great wait staff

By levisgaulin |

The food isn't "out of this world" but consistently good. Close to the Pantages theater so we go there and park for free on Gower early (always parking below Sunset on Gower) and then walk to the restaurant and theater. The wait staff is friendly and know their product. Decent Italian food.

Good food but lousy service!

By SoCalWanderer |

We ate there on a Saturday evening during which time there was a full house due to the Pantages theater showing of Phantom of the Opera nearby. Given that, the servive was particulerly slow and attentiveness non existent! For starters, we had to get our own olive oil and balsamic vinegar for our bread and salad ordered. When our meals came, we asked for parmesan cheese but, the waiter never came back with it. On top of that, our water glasses were never refilled and no one ever came by to ask us how our meal was. Finally, we had to ask repeatedly to receive the bill and then it took forever for the waiter to bring us back the credit card receipt. This is probably the worst service I have ever experienced!

excellent service, tasty food

By BabsJ1964 |

My mother-in-law, my daughter and myself went to Fabiolus before heading to the Pantages. We were running 30 minutes late, but thankfully Fabiolus held our table even though they were completely full and had a wait list. We also were able to park in their lot behind the restaurant and our car stayed there throughout the performance at the Pantages. The wait staff was professional and friendly. They were clearly busy and our waiter later told us that one of the kitchen staff called in sick. Our food arrived a bit late but it was tasty. We had the tiramisu for dessert and found that also good. Overall a positive experience.

Delicious as always

By Chastity P |

This is a little gem in the heart of Hollywood on Sunset. Excellent service, delicious hand made pastas, fun atmosphere...not "romantic" per se, but cozy for sure. I've been to all sorts of Italian eateries since I've been living in Los Angeles....from $-$$$...and this place tops them all...and the prices are great. Italian owners, most of the staff are Italian, chefs are Italian...very authentic. Happy eating!

Amazing

By Tanya N |

I ate here for the first time last night, and was not disappointed. The service was great, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We shared a chocolate cheesecake and it's to "die for". Sorry, no pictures taken.

Great neighborhood Italian

By FlyinFinn1 |

Fresh food, friendly service and a cozy patio. While not a destination restaurant, this LA standard hits all the right notes for a pre-movie bite or quick dinner out. Great salads and fresh pasta.

This Restaurant Was Once Excellent

By Mary P |

The food was hot and filling on a cold and rainy LA night, however, the food came so quickly, Admittedly, we had the pre-show specials; maybe they are ready made to cater to the dinner and a show crowd (of which we were that night!). Regardless, the service was excellent, as always, and the ambiance, very nice. My big objection came at the end of the meal when we were hit with a 3% surcharge to cover the 'substantial increase in restaurant operational costs (healthcare?) and cost of imported goods'. Really??? Restaurant operational costs i.e.keeping your doors open, is the price of doing business!!! Importing your food is what keeps your restaurant running; although I am sure that penne from Trader Joe's is just as good, and it is at the end of the block. No import costs there. Add the 3%, if you must, to your menu prices. Seriously. I found it really offensive to be charged and extra 3%.

amazing place

By AaronB |

Been going to this place for years, and they never disappoint us, friendly staff and amazing food... if you are visiting LA, I would recommend this place... Gabriel always takes care of us and makes us welcome...it was my best friends birthday today when we went....

Lovely restaurant and great food

By edporter1968 |

Finally found somewhere that wasn't fast food .. and we were happy we held out. From the moment we walked in the door. We made to feel special. Now I don't eat pasta as a norm. The the mushroom fettuccine was lovely, hubbie said his meatballs were good too Well worth a visit Oh and smallest salt and pepper pots ever

Excellent & Considerate Service

By KayB16 |

We were in the city to watch Cats and arrived at 4:30pm. Unbeknownst to us until we were yanking on the door in the cold rain, the restaurant did not open until 5pm. As we tried to figure out where else to go we were surprised when the door opened and we were invited in. We were offered warm drinks as the bartender had not arrived yet. We all had a difficult time deciding what to eat since it all sounded amazing. We had great Bruschetta for an appetizer, which was very fresh with garlic. One of my sisters ordered a dish with sauteed calimari, my other sister ordered Gnocchi Bolognese, and I opted for the Lobster Ravioli (the special that night). All three dishes were fantastically tasty, but my favorite was the gnocchi. My ravioli were very flavorful in a curry sauce, but the shrimp on top were just bland and lacked flavor. We ordered desert of Nonna's cake and the Chocolate Walnut Pear tart. The tart tasted mostly like chocolate and I couldn't taste the pear, but who can complain about too much chocolate. The servers were kind and attentive. We were frequently checked on and didn't need to ask for anything.

Great food!

By Kelly K |

Tried this for our last night in LA. Great food! I ordered the Risotto with chicken and spinach and it was fantastic! Hands down one of the best risottos I’ve had. My husband had penne with vodka sauce and loved it. Daughters gnocchi was good but the sauce was a bit overwhelming for it. And my son tried the the spaghetti and meatballs and it was good, not great. Staff were friendly as well. We would definitely recommend!

Great spot close to Pantages

By Michael L |

We started with the calamaretti which was very good. I thought the pieces could have been cut a little thinner. For dinner, I had Fettuccine Bolognese and my wife had Penne Siciliana. Both were good pasta meals. The service was excellent. My wife had a glass of Prosecco (I should have checked the price before she ordered...$12). Prices were high mid-range. We had the chocolate cheesecake for dessert (hadn't planned on having anything but they show you a tray of desserts and it looked just too good) and it was also very good. Bill came to $112 with tip...probably not too bad for downtown LA. (Then went to see Hamilton).

Choose carefully and carry a full wallet

By Smiley006 |

Two big pluses are the parking lot in the back and the complementary bruschetta (if you check in online on a website). The portions are generally adequate but the Caesar salad was quite small - especially for the price, a poor value even for Los Angeles. The seafood risotto was 99% risotto and very little seafood- considering the price. Again, not a reasonable value. As well, the seafood risotto was terribly bland and had absolutely no flavor at all despite several portions of parmesan cheese. Others at the table made different choices and were more satisfied with their dinners. The four cheese gnocchi was especially good. I might return but I would be very careful with what I ordered.

HOLLYWOOD SPOT WITH NO ATTITUDE

By AlanR27 |

After an event at the Egyptian we out of towners were taken here by some Hollywood residents. We loved the outdoor patio. The gnocchi and penne were really good but the best was the outdoor patio and our waiter Marco. He made it all come together beautifully. Thank you Marco.

Double date dinner

By MarlonT |

It was a very amazing double date dinner we’ve ever had. Great Italian food. The best Italian food I’ve ever had so far in Los Angeles. The chef personal appearance to explain and suggest menu of the Day is absolutely an experience to remember.

Great food, great service

By CVMatt |

Fabiolus Cafe was a nice suprise in Hollywood. I made a reservation online the evening before I was planning on going. I received a phone call from the restaurant the next morning confirming the reservation. We sat in the back dining area which was pleasant. There is also an outdoor patio. The restaurant has a small parking lot behind it (accessible from Leland off of Vine). There is also valet and street parking available. The service was prompt and personal. The menu has a large selection of pasta dishes as well as other italian fare. While waiting for the meal, we were served a rustic white bread with a pesto. The pesto had a wonderful flavor. Great service, great food. Reasonably priced.

Fabiolus not Fabulous

By Kace |

We wanted a restaurant within walking distance to the Pantages for a pre show dinner which it was. The food was just OK. I had the chicken parmigiana which was supposed to be a house specialty and hubby had the lasagna. I liked the lasagna but found the chicken to be rubbery and pretty tasteless. Service was pretty slow.

Great Food...Below Average Service..

By loisp9154 |

Fabiolus used to be one of my favorite restaurants in "The Woods of Holly". After trying other new places in the area we missed it. It was two Sundays ago. A nice evening to dine on the back patio. I knew when I heard the server at the table next to us asking "who's is the raviloli and who's is the chicken" that this may not be a positive dining experience. After waiting 8 minutes for anyone to help us our waiter brought us some bread and their amazing pesto. Five more minutes go by and we had to ask for water. This is when we almost walked out, but we were both very hungry. We ordered a bottle of wine and 3 courses. A chicken salad, seafood pasta and flourless chocolate cake. All were very fresh and delicious. Kudos to the chefs. The front of the house though needs proper service training. New management?? Other Service Issues: A clean fork was only offered to us for dessert course, we poured our own wine, dessert was not offered (I had to ask what they had), no offer for more bread or water, and too long of a wait to pay our check. Like I said, we had ventured off to other eateries and were feeling a little guilty. We missed the great food and friendly prompt service. One out of two this visit. Very hesitant on returning.

Nice owner and lovely outdoor seating. Great for pre-theatre! Parking!

By Melanie G |

Owner Mauro was great. We called to say we were running late due to traffic and he said he was fully booked and asked if we were headed to the theatre (which we were) and he kindly told us that ordering things that take a long time might make us late and told us some quick options which was very helpful. He immediately seated us and our server (wish I could remember his name) was super nice. Also you can park there for the theatre $15. Very convenient. Food was good. Will return.

Nice after-theater meal

By Robert2014 |

We went to the Pantages Theater for a matinee and then went to Fabiolus Cucina for dinner. It was nice in a nice setting (we ate on their patio). The best part was the service. The waiter and busboy were very accommodating and kept re-filling our water, lemonade and bread (the bread was wonderful), The food itself was good but not great. The soup was quite tasty, but my chicken entree (in a lemon and white wine sauce) was dry. Stick with the pasta, as that was good. Price was reasonable.

Good all round Italian

By darstephens |

The welcome at the restaurant was a bit strange. There is a door and then some seating to the right, presumably for people to receive takeaways or for a table. There was a bar to the left and I wasn't sure whether it was a reception desk or what and no-one seemed keen to talk to me or check my booking. After a while, someone came and showed me to a table. I wasn't offered a seat inside or outside. I would have preferred outside as there were heaters and it looked cosy and more atmosphere. Single diners are often selected against when it comes to decent tables. After a shaky start, things really picked up. I selected a Ripasso (baby Amarone) and started with a gin cocktail which knocked me sideways. Phew! For a food starter, I had the calamaretti. Decent portion and nicely done. For main course, I had the spaghetti polpette. This was excellent. A good Italian restaurant has to do spaghetti and meatballs very well and they did. Thank you. We were obviously warming to each other as the waitress came over and offered a decent selection of dessert and recommended the chocolate cheesecake. This was actually death by chocolate. Very tasty. Very. To finish, I had a coffee and the owner(?) asked if I would like to finish with a liqueur. I mentioned amaretto and he brought over two bottles and a glass with ice and asked me to try both and give him an opinion. A gesture welcomed and much appreciated as on the house and no charge to me. Again, thank you. Total cost for one person: $130 or £100. Was it worth it? Yes. I think it was. I was well fed and well watered and left feeling very satisfied. Would I eat there again? Yes. I would. But I would ask for a table outside. Thank you, Fabiolus Cucinina.

Somewhat of a disappointment

By Kelly V |

We had lunch here on a weekday. We were seated on the patio, which is really charming. We ordered drinks and bruschetta to start. The bruschetta was so bland, no garlic or really any kind of seasoning at all. There were maybe 2 shreds of basil. We had one gnocchi in a four cheese sauce, and two orders of a seafood pasta. The gnocchi themselves were light and fluffy, but the cheese sauce was so thick it was like a heavy paste. The two seafood pasta dishes were basically flavorless. We had cheesecake and chocolate cake for dessert. I'm not a fan of overly sweet desserts, but neither one of theses desserts had enough sugar or depth of flavor. Overall it was a very bland meal, and I just don't think I'll ever go back.

One of my Favorite Lunch Spots

By Season |

My office is down the street from Fabiola's so we go there every week or two for lunch and the food is always consistent and excellent - and we love the staff there as well. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area that looks like a secret garden - you don't even remember you're on Sunset Blvd!

Penne Vodka is AMAZING!

By Vicki K |

Okay. I admit it - I cheated. I'm not supposed to have wheat - and I ate some of the penne vodka. But I cannot resist it - this restaurant has the best I've ever tasted ... of course, one cannot discount the lasagna... but I digress. I had the salmon special, cooked beautifully. You won't go wrong with this restaurant.

Great food and service

By Gail P |

We were greeted by name by the owner as soon as we arrived! The restaurant was bustling with activity but the wait staff did not seem rushed and were very attentive to our needs. Our meals arrived quickly and were delicious! I had the chicken and spinach roisotto and my daughter had lemon chicken, penne with vodka sauce and a salad. We are doing a wheat free diet and so both our meals were from the gluten free offerings. The homemade bread looked scrumptious but sadly, we had to forego it as we did the desserts. Hopefully, you'll be able to indulge! Bon appetito!

waiters need a servers boot camp

By Wdee2013 |

Had an after matinee Pantages show early dinner. it was very easy to secure the reservations, and when we moved the time back an hour, the restaurant hostess ( sounded like the owner) was very accommodating. So our dinner began when there was nary but one other party in the entire place, so far somgood. Drinks and e orders were placed without a problem, and we received our first round of drinks and salads. but then, as the restaurant patrons began to arrive, our waiter disappeared. and our food didnt arrive for over an hour ( and it was largely pasta,). no explanation, no check in, no refilling of drinks or queries regarding if we wanted more glasses of wine ( and we did,,,were thirsty, Much lost revenue here,). when we finally had to ask about the absence of food, the waiter blamed it on one special at was holding everyone up ( but a special is planned for, right. And should be more than ready for a normal dinner hour ( was 6 pm after we were settled) and on a weekend of active performances. seemed like a lack of planning and a wait staff that spent its time waiting...on the kitchen instead of waiting on the customer. really couldnt say how the meals were, my pasta with capers was way too heavy on the capers- probably exceeded sodium content for the week-- and everyone else was hungry from the wait. To make matters worse, performers from the show had to hurry back to the theatre.

Romantic little cafe with decent to very good pasta

By jetlagnow |

This is a really cozy little nook nestled in the heart of Hollywood. It has a relaxed, romantic atmosphere with tables in a back courtyard that is filled with plants and bouganvilla. The vibe is super low key and laid back. The food is pretty good and the prices decent. Good pasta that is modern style (not American-Italian heavy style). I like the seafood pasta, the ravioli, and the risotto has been berry, berry good to me. The wine is good. The service good. Like it. Rate it: A-

Located near the iconic intersection of Sunset & Vine, this is a large but cozy space that also includes an outside garden. They are using organic flour to make the pasta and I found the spinach ravioli too al dente. Very good wine list by the glass and bottles organized by price. Will come back

Service needs a little help

By Sptaz33 |

Went here for dinner before heading to the movie theatre. We sat outside, which was cozy and enjoyable. The food was really good. It's one of the few Italian restaurants where you can eat pasta and not feel "heavy" afterwards. If I was rating this on food alone, I'd give it a 5. But the service - not so good. The waiter took forever to attend us and kept forgetting stuff and got the order wrong. From where we were sitting, it appeared as though we weren't the only ones. If you want good Italian food with great ambiance, this is a great place - just go with a lot of patience.

Lovely place.

Went here our first night in LA. Not only was the food delicious but we received excellent sight seeing tips from Gino! What a great welcome to the city.

Nice service, nice wine list, food was very poor

By VegasCowboy |

My wife and I went for a late dinner at 9:15. Only one other table on the back patio was occupied. The appearance was nice and clean, we were seated right away. Service was a little odd (4 different people brought drinks, bread, wine and took orders). But everyone was friendly and nice. The wine list is short, but nicely priced and we liked our Valpolicella selection. My wife ordered the Spinach Ravioli which she found uneatable. She said it tasted/smelled of wet socks and sent it back. The wine souce was nothing but water (probably form defrosting them in the microwave?). She asked to have it replaces with Vodka fettuccini which was decent but not fresh and tasty either. I had Chicken Romana. It was decent, didn't taste fresh and I suspect a lot of defrosting is going on in the kitchen. Again, nice people, bad food. I think there are better choices in the area. There have to be!

Fantastic meal, Fabulous service...Just wonderful!

By Wendi C |

I planned a friends and family girls trip to Hollywood to see Lion King at Pantages and chose this restaurant at a friends recommendation. They have only Valet parking but for $10 you can keep your car parked there and walk only 2 blocks to the theater. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. What a cute, quaint place! So warm and inviting. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Adorable ambiance. Very appropriate for children too. And the food! Yum! Very authentic Italian dishes, simple, al a carte menu. Extremely reasonable prices, we were so happy with the quality of the meal, I can not say enough. I highly recommend Fabiolus Cucina and we will definitely be coming back!

Nice Cozy Restaurant Close to Pantages

By wishfultraveler2004 |

Started off our dinner w/ the Calamaretti appetizer -- yum yum!! Lightly battered & the calamari rings were tender -- not hard & rubbery. Main courses of Spaghetti Aglio Olio w/ grilled chicken was good. Chicken a little on the dry side but the pasta was perfect. Nice garlicky flavor too. Also had the Penne Siciliana -- nice pasta dish but could have used a little more eggplant in the dish, and there was too much cheese used in this dish but it was still quite tasty. For dessert we shared the Torta Nonna -- again, very tasty & paired well with a cappuccino. I enjoyed our meal here and the next time we're going to The Pantages I would definitely come here again!

Dinner Almost Ruined by Waitress

By Lance2002 |

This is a great place to dine before going to the Pantages Theater as it is just around the corner, about a 5 minute walk. We were promptly seated as we had reservations. Since we had to get to the theater in a little over an hour, we ordered fairly quickly. Our food came out of the kitchen very quickly. In the meantime, we were given Italian bread to dip into olive oil and pesto. It was delicious. We each tried the Lasagne and it was one of the best I have ever had. It was freshly made with fresh ingredients. The eatery prides itself on the freshness and homemade quality of their food. The only downside to the evening was the waitress. I asked her twice for water and twice got no water. I finally had to flag down one of the bus boys to get a refill. Also she did not inform us of any of the specials for the evening. Thus the one missing star. They have a beautiful outdoor dining facility in the back. The wine list is more than adequate and glasses of wine are $8. They also have an extensive list of cocktails. For an Italian restaurant the food list is extensive. Anyone even vegetarians will find something that they like and can eat. They even offer gluten free pasta if you are willing to pay a couple of dollars more per dish. The bottom line is everyone around us were enjoying their food and we enjoyed ours. It is too bad that the experience was marred by the waitress. But I will definitely dine there again when in the area. Just hope we don't get the same waitress!

Fast service, great Italian food...mmmmm... use to get this when the production companies were paying for it.

Fabulous!

After looking at all the restaurants suggested by Pantages for pre theatre dining and reading reviews delighted we chose Fabiolus. Great food - Leonardo and Eduardo superb waiters and all staff first rate. We felt like family. Reservation for 5:30 allowing for a leisurely meal and short walk to the theatre without being rushed. Do allow time to enjoy.

Not worth all the hype

By TheValleytoTheWorld |

My friend and I came here for a pre-theatre dinner. The restaurant was cute. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Our dishes were delicious but drowning in sauce. My friend order the Risotto Nero...it was more like a risotto soup. I ordered the Ravioli Funghi. It was drowning in the sauce...as good as it was, less may have balance the entree better. Overall, the food was good but overpriced for what you get.

Dinner before the Musical

We have been Season ticket holders at the Pantages for several years and this was our first time eating here. It was wonderful.

As Italian as it gets! Also, the GNOCCHI!!!

By nlucin |

Fabiolus is a great after work or Pantages pre-show dinner restaurant. The food is delicious and they have a great assortment of wines. First walking in and even when you are seated, the service is pretty bland. Although, if you have been to Italy, then you realizes it's actually authentic. Unlike in America, where we expect people to notice and acknowledge us, most European cities will serve you upon request. Fabiolus recreates that experience...whether it's intentional or not, they've got it! I have been going to this restaurant for years now and every time,I wonder why I am not there more often. If you're looking for great food and a charming patio, Fabiolus is great for any occasion. Just remember, you will need to ask for the service you want to receive. Buon appetito!

We love this place!

By Vicki K |

We are locals, so we keep coming back to this lovely restaurant. Time and again, we return. I like to try different things on the menu, sometimes the specials. Joey doesn't even open the menu: penne vodka or lasagna. We usually have the lemonade to drink because I often go home after dinner to work, but this time I glanced at the wine list. OMG, they have my favorite wine - amarone! All this time and I didn't know they carried amarone! Well, we had to get a bottle. And it was wonderful! After years of eating at this lovely Veronese cucina, we discovered something new. If you have never tried Fabiolus, you could start making your own wonderful memories here!

Definitely Not Fabulous

By Frequenttraveler0034 |

I truly wanted to like this place. It has a warm cozy ambiance and the sounds of Italian waft through the air. I knew it was going to be a truly Italian experience from the get-go. The waiters and the busboy were wonderful, especially the Chinese busboy who spoke fluent Italian. However the food was where the experience went downhill. I would have given an overall rating of 2, but the servers brought my rating up to an overall 3. Maybe it was because they were crowded, maybe it was because it was a Sunday evening, maybe, maybe, maybe. Anyway, here goes. The bread looked great – long slices from a round loaf of Italian bread. However, the bread was at least a day old. Maybe Sunday was non-delivery day from their suppliers. We asked for a small green salad which we told the waiter we would split. The salad was brought out on two plates and they were tasty, but register our shock when the bill later added $3 to the salad as a “split” charge! For mains, we decided to have a Spaghetti dish with seafood (a sort of Al Mare, but I can’t remember the menu name). I ordered the “homemade” Gnocchi in a garlic, olive oil sauce. I remarked to my dining companion that our china plates were cold, although the spaghetti was quite hot. My gnocchi were just lukewarm and I sent it back. They had changed the plate (cold again), but still lukewarm gnocchi. The clams in the spaghetti were tough, and my gnocchi may have been homemade, but they were probably days old, dry and heavy/doughy. What a disappointment. We thought dessert might somehow save the day, but of the 6 or 7 desserts on the menu, we were told that only two desserts were available since “it was a busy day and we’re out of the rest”. We elected the Italian Strudel which seemed like an odd choice of desserts in an Italian restaurant. It was dreadful. The fruit (pear? apple?) was cooked to a mush, and the taste of ginger was so strong that we only ate a few bites. Go elsewhere if you’re in the area for dinner. Tender Greens is next door and although they do not possess the melodious Italian environment, at least the food is fresh and served hot.

Mediocre food, great service

By thevacationmom |

Went here before a show at Pantages. Convenient location with parking. Service was very nice. Food was mediocre at best. So much sauce on our pasta dishes and it tasted like Ragu jarred sauce. Cappuccino was foamless. Sangria had one slice of orange. Dinner for 3 was $150 with one shared appetizer and one shared dessert. And we all just had basic pasta dishes. Really disappointed.

Great Italian! Saved our Food Opinion of Hollywood

By John G |

Best value of any meal we had in Hollywood! Great food, great (friendly) service. Easy in for a prime-time Sunday dinner! Will be a do-again, next visit to Hollywood. Wife had Lasagna, I had Taligatelli Bolognese. Panna Cotta dessert was excellent as well. Spinach Arugula Salad dressed with EVOO, Lemon juice, salt, and Cheese rounded out our meal. The Bar is a slight "bargain" over the other places we ate. Drinks were a couple of bucks per drink cheaper.

Great pre- or post-Pantages restaurant

By jhmvis |

We had a great lunch here - and would love to go back for dinner. Cute restaurant exterior and front room - and a large outdoor patio. We went a little light - as we didn't want to turn our matinee into a nap! Great selection - tasty bites that we had. Looking forward to going back for dinner!

Amazing service

By Emily H |

Travelling from Australia, we ate here three times in one week purely for the fact it was close to our hotel and we were trying to beat jet lag. The food was amazing and service even better(remembered our names the 2nd&3rd time). It is now one of my favourite Italian restaurants, I only wish it didn't take a 16hr flight to eat there!!

The name says it!

By darlenelynn |

My friends chose this restaurant because it was close to Pantages Theatre. I was a little hesitant because I thought it was going to be that typical organic California pizza/ past places. When I check out the menu on line, I thought cheap prices cheap food. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. The service was excellent and there were a lot of options. They have an extensive wine list at reasonable prices, and for 10 dollars you and valet your car and pick it up after the show. I ordered the salmon steak which was delicious and perfectly cooked.(Sometime salmon can be overcooked fishy and bland). It came with crisp veggies. My friend ordered butternut squash ravioli which she said was very good also. I did not try my husbands meat dish, but loved it.

Terrific Italian Food in Hollywood

By Jack C |

Great place, great atmosphere and great service. Fabio has a real winner here...The menu is complete and his prices are fair. EZ parking from the side street behind the restaurant. If the weather is nice there's a great outdoor patio...you won't believe you're just steps from Sunset Blvd!

Skip it!

By Doran B |

We spend a fair amount of time in Hollywood. We were really looking forward to visiting Fabiolus. We stopped in before going to the Theater. We told the staff we had time constraints when we walked in. Our waiter took our order quickly. We received our starters....and then we waited...and waited. Come to find out, they gave our main course to another table. Not a huge big deal, but too late to correct the situation before the show. Here is the kicker...the waiter...who had been very inattentive... proceeded to blame us for the restaurant's error! This was the absolutely rudest waiter I have ever encountered. The hosts were apologetic but didn't do much. A gentleman who seemed to be a manager told us he would not charge us for the first course. At the same time, the waiter ran my credit card and refused to reverse the changes. The apparent manager did nothing. I left my business card for the real manager and was told he would follow up. Never heard a word. There are lots of great places to eat in Hollywood. This is NOT one of them. Skip it!

Deserves it's spot on the map

By Belovian |

While visiting Hollywood earlier this month, we were looking for a place to grab some lunch. Around the Hollywood Blvd/sunset strip area are maps with a list of attractions and places to eat. We picked Fabiolus based on proximity and the short description. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the door. A quaint atmosphere and large outdoor patio made for a perfect spot to grab a bite. Being Sunday they were offering brunch as well as a la carte service. Two of us had brunch the other had the trevigiana salad. Brunch was quite tasty offering most of the usual breakfast regulars plus pancakes (and real maple syrup!) and some more Italian oriented lunch items like bruschetta and pasta salads. All the options tasted fresh and carefully prepared, a basket of hearty bread and homemade pesto accompanied our 9$ bottomless mimosas on our return to the table. Service was quite friendly and prompt (to the point where they started serving my mimosas in larger glasses after the 3rd). Fabiolus was a great find and the 15$ Sunday brunch and mimosas really hit the spot

Found this great Italian Restaurant in Hollywood. We didn’t have a reservation but were made to feel welcome. Warm and relaxing atmosphere with the lighting and friendly service. Enjoyed the Branzino with Mediterranean vegetables and my husband enjoyed his steak also off the specials menu. Best meal we had in Hollywood!

Nice, Friendly place on The Strip

By TallTVTravellers |

A friend and I enjoyed their $12 special for dinner - a one plate with Caesar salad, a delicious pasta dish and sizeable portion of veal. Service was great - with smile and promptness. The Tiramisu was tasty. Overall the food was good, not excellent but, frankly, this was a much better experience than I (an out-of-towner) would have expected along such a notable thoroughfare!

Disappointing, flavourless food.

By Hellopaul |

I had high hopes for this place, but everything was unbelievably flavourless. The ingredients for some great meals were all there - gnocchi with Italian sausage and lots of garlic somehow tasted of absolutely nothing. It was the same for pretty much all our meals; not sure how they managed it. The venue itself was nice enough and the staff were ok - friendly but slow service. Had some smashing wine - a 2008 Napa Valley Merlot. Luckily I visited with some great friends who more than made up for the uninteresting food!

Fresh Food and great atmosphere

Ate there with my daughter before seeing the Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages a block or two away from here. Great service, Food was fresh and very tasty. Cocktails were not that great, but everything else, including desert was amazing.

Surprising Delight!

By Steamboat323 |

My husband and I made early dinner reservations at another nearby Italian restaurant and stopped here for happy hour beforehand. It was an easy walk from the W Hollywood Hotel. We were so pleasantly surprised at the happy hour prices for wine and beer. Service was very good, and we received bread and chips with dipping oil along with our wine order. We did not stay for dinner but the atmosphere was cozy and I'd love to go back for a casual, intimate dinner someday. They also had a small patio but we enjoyed the interior with the stone bar area.

Delicious!!

By 793nancya |

Sit on the patio and try as many things as you can!!! The salmon was fabulous, the beef stew polenta yummy, the vodka penne will make you long for more as will the gnocchi, and the risotto was perfection! We may not have been able to finish everything, but the fact that we all shared a little of each dish was great!! Thanks to Marco... wonderful service too! =)

Great, Authentic Italian Food

By L6953YVpaull |

The food at Fabiolus is marvelous and the service matches it. Portions are large an satisfying and seem very authentic to me. I loved my Chicken Parmesona d my companios raved about their mels. The wine list was good with reasonable prices. Service is friendly and attentive and the general atmosphere contributes to a good dining eperience. If you are headed to the Pantageous Theater, reservations are a must. If you want to truly enjoy the restaurant and the meal, schedule your visit after the theater crowd has finished.

Slow service, cold food

By THESUPERFRANK |

We arrived with a party of five for dinner at 8.30. Despite the fact the restaurant was almost empty, the service was slow and not very friendly. When our main courses arrived, my pasta had hardened and was lukewarm. Others said the same. Evidently our food has been waiting a while to be served. No excuse. This was quite disappointing after having read the reviews. We would definitely not return.

Tasty, reasonably priced Italian dining

By Female_Traveler5689 |

I had the pleasure of dining here in March with a group of 9 colleagues. We dined inside but the patio area looked very nice and I found myself wishing I'd asked to sit outside! Service was very good. Nice variety on the menu. The carpaccio and my pasta were delicious. There were a lot of "clean plate club" members in our group so we all enjoyed dinner. I very much liked the format of the wine list - it was arranged by price - -section for bottles that were $30, bottles that were $35, etc. Nice place and I recommend it!

Good Italian Food

By havinfun00 |

We went here having just picked up a friend of Germany who is staying in Cali for a month. We had a new server who was being trained by "Gabriel". The whole staff was very attentive and friendly. Moving our table to the garden when we first arrived when one daughter commented how pretty it was over there, then moving us back to the middle when most of our party was cold due to the breeze (dresses for daytime sunny weather). Everyone enjoyed their food, with the shrimp pasta special being the favorite. They made a kids pasta dish for my daughter (5yo) special. The owner stopped by a few times, and also made sure our little one left with pockets full of candy mints. The way he talked with her and joked with her really showed how a small business restaurant can be such a great place for families and regulars. It is the type is service and attention you will never get at a Olive Garden or any other chain location. The food was a little pricey for the quality, but some of that must be due to the location.

Busy Italian. Good not great

By haqsta |

Our hotel suggested this place situated only one block from our hotel (W) To be frank it didn't live up to expectations. It has a room in front which leads out to a large covered garden that has been made into a full all-weather extra seating area complete with heaters. Our waiter was a bit cocky and didn't show the extra care that warrants a large tip. Food (large pizza and beef on polenta were good enough, value was also OK, not bad or amazing. I guess it felt a bit too much like a factory to me where it felt their main goal was to turn each table over as as many times as possible each evening.

A bit of Verona in Los Angeles

By Vicki K |

This is a lovely, open air restaurant (or you can sit inside, still lovely) and have fresh, handmade pasta, thin crisp-crusted pizza and any other delightful Italian food or wine. Service is attentive but not cloying. I had dinner here a few nights ago (and we had a tasty lasagna and spicy sausage with arugula gnocchi). But last night, I attended a meet up at Fabiolus where 18 of us shared caprese salad, 2 different kinds of pizza, crisp calamari friti (that to me could have used a bit more salt), and penne pasta with an incredible cheese sauce. As the restaurant is right on Sunset near Vine, it is in the heart of Hollywood, a block from Arclight, and maybe 3 blocks from the Pantages theater. Lots of clubs nearby as well. You would not go wrong to eat here.

Go elsewhere...

By globalgirl83 |

Well...All I can say is save your money and find another place in the area. With a name like Fabiolus and the vibe of the place even with the amount of people inside, you would want and expect tasty, fresh italian food. That is not the case. I ordered the classics in order to test this restaurant. Calamari- Fried well, salty, and the arrabiata sauce was also salty Gnocchi Quatro Formaggio - GROSS...I had to doctor it with pesto sauce and then with pepper and then with the bread dip...and it still wasnt good. I ended up giving to a homeless person and I just hope they werent mad at me for it. Penne A La Vodka- Well this is why the place got two stars. The pasta was not tasty, but the sauce wasnt to thick and creamy and had a decent flavor I'd recommend if you end up at FAbiolus get a salad and wine. The Syrah was a delish glass of wine and worth going back for or finding it at a wine shoppe. Please take your money elsewhere and save the heartache.

Service needs improving

By LancsLass |

Went here twice (round the corner from our Airbnb) and the food is lovely. However on each occasion it seemed like the waiters are more keen to 'schmooze' the all female tables or regular clientele. If you are going to the theatre it may be worth saying so at the start of the meal or you might miss the beginning. As I said, food is good on the whole (although my lasagne was only lukewarm), could have done with a little more attention and less of a wait for each course.

One of the best mushroom pizzas I have ever had

Excellent Italian near the Pantages!

By Firecracker29 |

It is a 2 block walk to the theater, but it feels great to walk off all the amazing food on the way to a show. My 5 friends and I made reservations at Fabiolus for 4pm, so we could make a 6:30 performance of The Book of Mormon. They started us off with very reasonably priced wine, and bread with a pesto oil dipping sauce, so good. For apps, we got Carpaccio, Calamari and Bruchetta, and all were so fantastic and fresh, we passed them around a few times. For the main courses we all got different plates, though I did get to taste a few. My favorite, always, is the Butternut Squash Ravioli, which was exactly what I was craving. But the penne vodka (from the old menu, but still available) and Chicken Risotto were fantastic. There were even a few delicious pumpkin-based dishes for the season. My friend got the Gemelli di Halloween, which was perfectly pumpkiny, not too much, and the bacon was the perfect addition, as usual. We shared a few desserts at the end. The creme brulee and tiramisu were great. I didn't partake in the flourless chocolate cake, not being a chocolate cake fan, but it being too dry was about the only complaint my friends had the whole evening. All in all, I recommend Fabiolus for some great Italian food before a show in the area. They are well aware of the time constraint and work around it too. Great place!

Great Pre-Pantages Place

By C_n_H_Pure |

I love the Fabiolus Cafe. It is a nice neighborhood Italian place with very good food, a nice wine selection and great, personal service. I often go there before going to the Pantages or the Hollywood Bowl, but it is also just a great place to meet friends for a nice meal. I really love dining on the back patio.

Great meal, reasonably priced near theatre

By JimboMalibu_CA |

We took our 14 yr old granddaughter to dinner before the early evening show st Pantages. We could park right behind the restaurant and leave the car until after the show. Since this production was at 6:30, we arrived around 4:45 and sat outside on covered patio. The service was excellent, paced and the food was yummy. I had their classic lasagne, my wife the shrimp penne, and my granddaughter a delicious gnocchi in a creamy pesto with shrimp. We had lightly fried calamari as an appetizer. We finished the meal sharing chocolate cheese cake and were off to the theatre before 6. It is about 10 min walk to Pantages. After the show we retraced steps and drove home around 9:30. Wonderful evening.

True Italian in Hollywood

By BestCoastTraveler |

After going to a matinee at the Pantages, we decided to have dinner close by. Having grown up in Italian neighborhoods, I am very selective about Italian restaurants. Fabiolus did not disappoint. True Italian food with great service. We had seafood pasta dishes that were outstanding. The calamari appetizer was one of the best. To top off a great dinner we had to try the "Torta di Nonna"; again, very good. Service was great. My wife ask for an after dinner drink, Strega, which they did not have. To my surprise, they knew the liqueur, and apologized for not having any. Our kind of place, whenever we are in the area, we will stop in again.

Nice for a couples' night out

By Tlrcia |

My husband and I found this place on Yelp and gave it a try. Luckily we got a table without a reservation early on Saturday evening. The wait staff was very attentive, gave suggestions, etc. I had the gnocchi with radicchio and sausage and my husband had the chicken with Dijon sauce. Because it's in SO Cal, they were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather and had tables in the courtyard under a big canopy. Parking is in the back and very convenient. Treat yourself and dress up a bit for dinner. This would be a great venue for a dinner party as the location was central and the prices were very reasonable.

Adequate food with subpar service

By msa23_2000 |

Came here on with friends with a reservation. I am not sure why they even gave us a reservation because they kept trying to rush us out to prepare for a private party so we couldn’t enjoy the food. They brought out the salad and entree at the exact same time in an effort to speed us along. I honestly felt like we were an inconvenience to them. The food was good Italian. It was not the best nor poor. But it was just hard to sit, relax, and enjoy when we kept trying to get pushed out.

Nice meal

By Annette H |

Drove to Hollywood from Palmdale to buy tickets at the Pantages...I asked about a good Italian restaurant and they recommended this one. I walked there (only 2 blocks away), and found a quaint, very clean, friendly restaurant. I enjoyed my brunch and glass of wine (from a nice selection). They have a nice covered patio (although I sat inside by the window facing Sunset) and attentive staff. I would recommend this restaurant for visitors to the area (I'm sure locals already know it). And I thank the Pantages for the heads up (they have a pamplet with local restaurants they like if you ask for it).

Italian cuisine, not trivial

By angloggi |

A nice surprise, good Italian cuisine, not “Americanized” and at absolutely honest prices. We ate a spaghetti topped with seafood, in particular, with crab pulp, and a tagliatella alla bolognese. All accompanied by an excellent California Merlot suggested by the manager. Definitely good!

Nice and down to earth

By bkono |

A lot of people are torn with this restaurant. Personally, I really like it here. It a little bit pricey, but you're also eating at a decent place in the heart of Hollywood. I really like their chicken risotto with barley. They have a beautiful outdoor patio and have been around for decades! One really nice thing about this place is they will always take your review to heart. If ever something is wrong, the owner or manager will really listen and try to rectify.

Consistently Good

By filmworksusa |

There's not a lot of choice in Hollywood for a decent sit-down meal in a place that feels "local" without being 'hip' or 'touristy'. Fabiolus fits the bill when you're in the mood for well-prepared Italian food with a Northern Italian edge in comfortable surroundings. The service is professional and not fussy. The atmosphere is usually subdued and congenial - it doesn't attract a wild party crowd. They have a covered terrace at the back, with heating for winter - which is where most regulars prefer to go. Their pasta dishes are good, the salads excellent, the fish entrees are especially nice - but you're at the top end of the price list - wine by the glass is decent and reasonably priced and, to finish off, their espresso is perfect. A friendly place with a good meal, reasonably priced. In Hollywood, that's a win.

Italy in Hollywood

By Lordgin1 |

An excellent Italian Restaurant where the food is delicious and authentic! It rare to find true Italians working at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles but there infectious joy and friendliness makes the dining experience even more memorable. The pasta is freshly handmade as well as the sauces which are all incredibly tasty. The calamari is very fresh and not too greasy. The seafood is amazingly fresh and tasty. The Panna Cotta is a taste of heaven with soft textures and sweetness that overwhelms you. Location wise, Fabiolus is very convenient to Live theater (the Pantages) and the cinemas (Arc Light Cinemas) as well as a slew of Hollywoood hot spots.

Early Dinner before the peak hour.

By Paul S |

Wandered in for an early meal, met warmly by staff and a lovely young lady named Emma took me to a table in the patio area. The menu was great, I chose Mamas meatballs which arrived promptly. Superb, great garlic bread accompanied a decent serve of tasty meatballs and thick marinara sauce. And the taste was sensational. Emma was particularly kind and made sure wine 🍷 was sorted, some nice conversation as I'm a long way from home and made me feel welcome. All in all, a great dining experience. All the staff said goodbye, etc as I left, rounding out a very pleasant meal with a home cooked meal and family time. Thanks Emma and team.Cheers.

Not-so-great Italian comfort food

By TokyoVisitor |

The food was better than terrible (except for the Caesar salad, which was chopped iceberg lettuce with bottled dressing), and not too expensive. If it isn't too warm out, sit outside; the inside restaurant had a funny and unpleasant smell.

Cute restaurant at Sunset & Vine

We went here for brunch after hiking the Hollywood Sign Brunch was $15, bottomless mimosas are $9 Offerings at brunch were typical --pancakes, pancakes, fruit. Their egg dish with peas and asparagus was tasty. They also have daily specials. The mimosas needed more champagne. Service was okay. Waiter was nice but could have been more attentive, especially since we got hit with the automatic 18% tip for a group. Only two of our party ordered off the menu-everyone else did the buffet so he didn't work very hard. I'd go back to try dinner

I reserved my visit about three weeks in advance for a birthday dinner. The owner was there, he was very nice, same with the staff that I talked to. The atmosphere in the patio is very beautiful when the sun goes down, lighting is just right. The dinner and appetizers we had were so good🤌. Personally, the shrimp appetizer was my favorite. For dinner, I picked the chefs special pan roasted branzino with pasta alla checca, and it was excellent. My partner enjoyed her dinner as well, and that was the most important thing to me since it was her birthday.

...if you happen to live with a gourmet chef. Great food. Lovely ambiance. A bit loud when crowded - which is almost always - but that's the price of popularity.

Amazing food and superb service!

Had dinner tonight with my family after a long day at Universal Studios. Really welcoming staff and extremely friendly. The food was excellent, pizzas have the authentic Italian feel. :-) highly recommended!

First Visit - Would Go Again

Outdoor seating was nice; somewhat enclosed so can heat or cool as needed. Two of our party got fettuccine alfredo and happy with their meal. Lemon chicken was overpowering with lemon. Fair wine selection. Reasonable prices. Would go again.

Great place for good italian

This place is a hidden gem! The service was amazing! The food was excellent, i had homemade butternut squash ravioli and it was to die for!! They also give you bread and an olive spread which is excellent. I will be returning to this restaurant for sure!!

Tasty and Healthy!

OK, that's what I ordered ... risotto style barley with salmon, shrimp, leeks and lemon. Refreshing, light, and enough for two meals. And gluten free to boot! They ran out of limoncello so I couldn't try the limoncello margarita, so I had lemonade. An excellent lemonade, if I may say so. Joey ordered the lasagna with garlic bread on the side. Though I shouldn't, I tried the garlic bread, and it was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try some more dishes!

Fast friendly service

Had lunch at Fabiolus. Service was fast and friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating space. Well appointed, simple wall decor. Had the grilled salmon over broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, very tasty. The barman made excellent mojito.

Great atmosphere, delicious pastas and friendly staff

Good food, nice patio

Ate here with a local friend who has been going here for years. We had a really nice basic Italian meal, seated out on the patio area. Services was okay for a Friday night.

Excellent service and food.

Was looking for a great Italian restaurant in Hollywood area. This is it. Went to Fabiolus Cucina with my family and my nephews to celebrate a birthday. My Nephews are very selective of what they eat because of their age two being in their teens and the others 5 and 8. All of them loved their food. The teens loved the risotto funghi and Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. The kids loved their thin crust pizza's. The best part was i was able to sample all of the meals and they were all delicious. You could taste the fresh ingredients they use in all of their meals. Fabiolus Cucina is recommended for excellent Italian food when you are in the Hollywood area.

Return Pre-show visit

We had tickets to Les Mis at the Pantages on a Thursday evening and brought along our 15 year old granddaughter. We have dined here before and enjoyed the food and free parking. We shared their excellent calamari appetizer along with another of smoked salmon with burrata cheese...both outstanding. I enjoyed the classic lasagne while the ladies had gnocchi. We shared the yummy chocolate cheese cake for dessert and left stuffed, along with leftovers. Good thing there is a 3 block walk to Theater; we needed it. When we returned, nearly 11pm, the restaurant was closed so we had to walk around the block to access parking; fortunately we had the parking gate code so no problem. Keep this in mind if you park here before a late show.

Good but Not Great

This was within walking distance of our hotel (the W) in Hollywood. You can make a reservation online. They were fast and attentive once we were seated. The owner was hands on, and cared about the patrons well being. The food was OK. Nothing was bad but nothing to return to or for. Sadly the best thing here was the starter bread basket. Great Foccacia, and crunchy Italian bread. It kinda went downhill after that. The Calamari was chewy. The marinara sauce for dipping was bland and thin. The ordered marinara sauce was also very thin. My son's gnocchi in a cream sauce was very good. The pizza had a chewy crust but Stella Barra is right down the block for a real pizza experience. For the money, especially in the heart of Hollywood this was a good meal. I would not return especially in light of the thinny thin bland sauce. A good RED Sauce in an Italian restaurant makes or breaks the meal, this was just unacceptable.

Awesome pasta.

We arrived late on new year's eve and needed to find something to eat. We happened on this restaurant. The host greeted us warmly and led us to a back room where we were immediately served. I would have been happy with just a short wait! The food was excellent. They didn't rush us. Enjoyed crispy calamari appetizer, gnocchi, Linguine Al Pesto, and Pollo Alla Parmigiana . I didn't much like the veneta salad. The wines were reasonably priced with large servings. It was so good, we went back the next night just to get the gnocchi again. Deserts were also tasty and reasonably priced.

All Round Great Meal.

We enjoyed a really good meal here before hitting up a show at the hollywood palladium. The appetizers and entres were all very good. We sampled the caesar salad and bruscheta. The wine was equally good but I can't remember what we enjoyed. Pastas were all varied and tasty. Service was also very good. Nice open air patio with fire pits. Overall, I would highly recommend dining here.

Very Happily Surprised

By Michele C |

This restaurant is a very pleasant surprise, conveniently located on Sunset Blvd. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were happy to be seated inside a nice, heated tent, which gave us the feeling of being outdoors but with cover and warmth. The menu, although typical Italian, was not disappointing. We shared a grilled veggie platter to start, and then we all ordered pasta (we are vegan). Portions were generous and we finished every bite. Even the waiter commented that we must have loved everything...and we did. I recommend the tagliatelle with pesto-- yummy!

Great place to dine before a show

We stopped in at Fabiolus Cafe on Sunday before a movie screening at the Academy and enjoyed a delightful dinner. My husband ordered the Bistecca special and it was cooked to perfection. I had the Risotto con Pollo e Spinaci and thought it was delicious. We were served by Gabriele and he was very helpful and attentive. He had an upbeat attitude and added to our enjoyment of the meal. We have eaten at Fabiolus several times and have never been disappointed in the food or the service.

Don't miss the opportunity to have a meal here, best ever

5 out of 5 We loved it, best meal in LA. We would have eaten here every night just to try everything. Dont miss it, if you love Italian this is the place for you

Really not great...

By justtojess |

The food here just wasn't very good. It has a lovely patio, the wait staff was excellent, but the food itself was just... poor. I tried the pizzas (cardboard), rosemary chicken (dry and lacking flavor), quinoa (lacking flavor), vodka pasta (lacking a lot of flavor, grainy consistency) - I don't think anyone was overly thrilled with their meal. I gave it three stars because it wasn't an overall "poor" experience - like I said, service and restaurant are lovely! - but if they could just improve the food it would be perfect.
