Last minute party for 20, no problem.

By Jazmin Dua |

We needed a location for a company happy hour last minute, and Shara, hands down, made it fast and straightforward. They welcomed all 20 of us on such short notice with a great selection of drinks. Highly recommend Fado's to everyone.

Overly expensive prices imo

By ruud1 |

Overly expensive prices imo compared to similar in the area, service was nothing better than ok.Barman seemed to have a chip on his shoulder for whatever reason that day. Sorry we went in but must admit food received was nice.

Pre Christmas Family Fun

By John D |

yearly we visit Fado just before Christmas with about 10 of us, we are always treated very nice by the staff and the food is very good, they have a great selection of beers and plenty of tv to watch your favorite soccer game.

A Little Bit of Ireland in Philly

By Dorothy M |

I took the day off from work so my husband and I could spend my 51st birthday afternoon drinking. Being Irish I searched for a place and came across Fado's. Not only did the food look great, but the beer menu had a whole section of Guinness 10 different ways. We wanted to try all, but we only were able to do 3 each. The Black Velveteen (Guinness and Strongbow Cider was my favorite) and my husband loved the Black Hops (Guinness and Goose Island IPA). Also, the food was amazing. We had fried goat cheese in a honey sauce, boxty chicken quesadillas, sliders and pasties which we were able to substitute fries with boxty chips (which were terrific especially with the gravy to dip them in). For dessert we had the Guinness Sundae, the ice cream tasted like a mix of caramel and butterscotch. We spent my 50th birthday last year in Ireland. Nothing could beat that, but our little afternoon at Fado's came close. Also, a shout out to our server Mark for keeping us well hydrated.

Slainte!

By greagan |

Had a terrific meal with great beers, although we didn't sample many of the more classic fare. LOVED the carrot ginger soup! Cozy wood paneled interior with low lighting makes it feel very much like the real deal (Irish pub) and the bar offerings maintain that illusion. Staff is amazingly helpful and sociable, another similarity with the pubs we visited in Dublin. Can get quite frisky at night, with a noise level to match, attributes one would definitely encounter in Ireland. Parking is nearby in structures, forget street parking, even if a space opens up, as the ticket vampires in Center City (and most of Philadelphia) are voracious and omnipresent. Outdoor seating when weather supports.

Not quite a Pot Of Gold, but...

By George P |

Always liked Fado's when in town for show. Good Irish Pub food but became too crowded w/ a loud young crowd, interested in drinking not eating. This made seating hard to get. Problem was they didn't take reservations, so we crossed them off our dining list. Recently noticed they now take reservations so we returned to the Old Sod. Got a table right away, very friendly waitress, but very loud (and foul) mouthed crowd near us. My wife got the Sheppard's Pie and found it to be lacking in vegetables, leaving it a little on the bland side. I had a great burger. They have a good selection of Irish (and other) draft beers. Also appears their menu is a little shorter than our last visit. But if you like a good burger, a cold draft and friendly service it's worth a visit.

Lovely visit to Fado.

By chache47 |

My wife and I had dinner at Fado before seeing the orchestra. What lovely ambiance. They did a great job recreating and Irish Pub in Philly. Even had a snug. We sat by the fire and I had a full Irish Breakfast and my wife had the Shepard Pie. I love a good and this was it!! Had black and white pudding which were great and the sausages were excellent. My wife's Shepard Pie was also excellent (I tried some:). Made with lamb and said it it had colcannon and the gravy was excellent. I will definitely be back, especially when I get a hankering for an Irish Breakfast for dinner.

Great Atmosphere: Fish ‘N Chips Tasty

By jcrslick |

Had the chance to watch the NCAA tournament at Fado’s in Philly - great venue to watch games. Fish ‘N Chips was a great entreé, as the batter was very tasty. Guinness beers were ice cold, and the service was great considering how busy they were.

Enjoyable dinner

By Margaret P |

We enjoyed our dinner at Fado Irish Pub. We started with the goat cheese balls and flatbread, followed by a great fresh tuna salad for me and corned beef and cabbage for my husband. The food was tasty and the service was very good. We were debating whether to share a dessert when the server brought us a complimentary piece of blueberry cobbler with ice cream which was delicious. A great place for a Friday evening dinner.

A Bit Expensive for the Experience

By hibbingnative |

It was a good atmosphere with great woodwork. Our server forgot to put in my wife's order (our of 8 people) and she didn't receive her food until everyone was done eating. The TV in our area didn't work. This is only important because we were trying to watch a football game. The food was good, but not great. It might be that we just went to Ireland a few months ago and had amazing dining experiences.

Average Irish pub with ok beer selection

By John B |

Friendly staff. Nice interior. The beer list was interesting but not exceptional for Philadelphia. Food was ok but I've had better. Also in Irish pubs.

Noisy but nice

By Joel S |

Abounding with yuppies; a small but tasty late night menu; pricey drinks but likely the local going rate. Friendly bouncer and wait staff. Plenty of big screen TV's. We found a nice quiet corner where we could hear ourselves talk. Plenty of the 20's and 30's crowd here. Yummy buffalo wings and chicken fingers as well as wine.

Drinks after a concert

By Diana P |

We ended up here by accident. We had gotten off the subway after a concert and went to one pub that was packed so we left and walked into an Applebee’s where we sat at the bar for 5 min and never saw a bartender or any wait staff. We got up and left and walked around the corner saw Fados. We went in it was almost midnight and the bar was quiet except a few what seemed to be regulars. The bartender was very friendly another worker was there and was also friendly and very funny. We all just hit it off. Drinks were great and it was a great atmosphere! We’d go back

Always Friendly

By Vernon F |

Great Irish Pub! Consistent chain pub that has good food and good selection of Irish whisky and scotch.

Best place to watch FIFA

By Jason R |

This place is considered THE place to go for world cup action. Regular decent sized Irish place. The food was fantastic. prices decent. Good outdoor curbside seating great for people watching.

You'll Want to Eat There All the Time!

By Patti K |

FADO has been my favorite spot since the moment I first visited, years ago. Warm, inviting, comfy, friendly, top-notch service with some of the best food in town! Mouthwatering lamb sliders, Harp battered fish tacos, crispy thin chips, crafty drafts, I could go on and on ...Forget wasting money with those overpriced, predictable, pretentious, 'themed' restaurants in town. FADO is the real deal. Feels true, like the pubs I visited in Dublin (TRULY some of the NICEST folks I have ever met), only better because I can go anytime! Granted: You will return again and again ~

Great beer selection, good food

By Pam_gardengirl |

A group of us stopped in for lunch. There is a menu for draft beer selections, so many! The food was very good, and prices as well ($171 for 8, and everyone had at least 1 drink.) Service was a little slow at times, but overall I'd recommend!

Best happy hour in Philly

By ScttCmpbll |

We actually went for Dinner but caught the end of the happy hour specials. We tried a little bit of everything for $5 a plate. This made for a filling and not too expensive meal. The Boxties were great with cheese and as part of a Quesada dish. They would have also made a great desert with a simple cinnamon and sugar coating, but that wasn't on the menu. In a town full of Irish pubs, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Awesome Service Great Atmosphere

By Buck |

Went there to celebrate a college graduation with a small group. Had some great appetizers, highly recommend the cheddar dip and wedges. Being an Irish pub, they of course had a full beer menu and had my favorite Smithwick’s on tap. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our server seemed to know exactly when to come by our table when we needed things. Attentive but not in your face. Will definitely be back. Seems like a good place to take a date or come with a group.

Great Brunch

By Memaof5 |

The food and the service was excellent. I had the Irish breakfast, and it was amazing. Very tasty and the portions were large. Best Bloody Mary ever!

They did not even know which menu they were serving

By TR3B-1962 |

We went in on a Saturday before attending a play at the Academy of Music. We arrived about 11:15am and were given lunch menus. Soon the waitress came back, removed those menus, and gave us once for "brunch". My Farmer's Skillet was average, and my wife was not a great fan of the french toast. The people who arrived after we ordered were given lunch menus, then had them taken away, and then were able to order from the lunch menu anyway. I will not return.

Good wholesome fayre

By McCabesonTour |

We stumbled upon this bar/pub early one evening after a long walk around the city. Good food and decent sized portions - not massive! As my husband loves his craft beers this was a warm albeit wet welcome. Worth a visit if nearby,

Amazing gastropub

By ejvelazquez |

We visited Fado on an afternoon in the city. The atmosphere was great. Service was on point. Large list of beers and creative guiness combinations. The small plates (sliders) were delicious.

Good Pub, decent food

By CharlyC247 |

They have a big menu with lots of Irish fare. The place starts to get loud around 7-8pm on the weekends and keeps getting crowded as the night goes on. It can get pretty loud by 11pm.

Great little pub!

By Mary K |

Great atmosphere, cozy, a little better than what you’d expect from a typical cookie-cutter Irish pub. The things that kicked it up to excellent are: 1) we went for lunch on a game day when several soccer games were going on but we still got a nice seat right away and it was pretty quiet considering the crowd. The perfect pub background noise! 2) the food menu is decent and the food was even better that expected. Shephard’s pie, standard dish and hard to mess up but it was really good! Bacon chocolate chip banana pancakes! Shut. Right. Up. They were outstanding. I wanted desperately to finish them all but I just couldn’t. 3) really nice drink menu, old fashioned was delicious. Minor misses for us: mimosa was a little weak, and the shepherds pie comes with a quinoa kale salad in a little jar it looks like overnight oats. It’s beautiful but didn’t really accompany the shepherds or well, could just be me. :)

Proper Irish American pub

By 0462486 |

Was recommended fado as the best "Irish" bar in Philly so tried it out. As a big wings fan I tried them with a Heineken and it was an excellent combo. The lady serving was lovely and very welcoming. Met up with colleagues who had also heard it was the place to go to when in Philly. Great atmosphere, very good bar food, faultless welcome and service

Good pub grub in a cozy neighborhood bar

By Henry B |

This place has a warm and inviting feel to it, although the seats in the window areas were pretty cold on the night we visited. The menu has all the traditional Irish favorites-Shepherd's pie, Irish Stew, etc. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap. The service was relaxed and attentive.

We have had better

By ramsey48 |

I went to Fado Irish Pub for dinner before a concert. We selected this restaurant because it was close to the Kimmel Center. It has the ambiance of pubs overseas unfortunately the food does not meet the quality of the overseas cousins. My wife and friend both had Shepherds pie which was one of the worst shepherds pie the each has ever had. The service was attentive and prompt so the rating reflects the quality of the food not the service or ambiance.

Excellent pub fare

By metalsister |

They had me at Strongbow on tap. That said I must add that their sandwiches are quite delicious especially the chicken tinga. Also love the Cozy very private booths and the yummy food. Excellent Service as well.

Great food

By JBiggins2013 |

Great food, friendly staff and a great place to get a pint of Guinness. Not far from the Holiday Inn Express Midtown

Philly Pub near the Kimmel

By LDWtk |

Attended the Phllly Pops afternoon Christmas Concert yesterday. We had planned to find a nice restaurant in the area prior to the concert but we arrived into Philly later than expected. I asked at the Kimmel where we could get a quick bite and it was suggested that we head down 15th Street where there were various options. I had heard good things about Fado so we headed there. The place was busy with lots of Eagles fans and there were large TV screens throughout the place with various Football games showing, one of which was Red Zone. I noticed going into the place that they are big soccer/English football fans - copies of the current televised English Premier League matches that can be seen at Fado were sitting in the entrance to the pub. The Premier League flags are hanging throughout the place. It's a seat yourself/make yourself at home vibe. It has that local pub feel, dark woods, big and small tables and lots of people. We were lucky to find a seat with no wait. After we were seated and because of our limited time, I scouted out a waiter and grabbed our menus. The wait staff was very friendly and quick to take our order. They had a nice selection of specials, and salads on the menu but my husband and I both ordered burgers. They arrived quickly and they were big, juicy, messy and delicious. We had a choice of steak fries or shoe string so we both had the shoe string which were also very good. We were in and out in less than 40 minutes. I didn't realize that Fado is a chain with locations in other major cities. Regardless, it felt more like a local pub and would be a fun place to go to hangout with friends.

Unexpected quality!

By Richard S |

Always surprised by how good the food is. For an authentic Irish pub, Fado has an interesting and well executed menu. Excellent burgers of course, but the rather surprising innovative selections are very well done indeed. The beer selection is more than satisfactory and we've had very good service, despite some of the other reviewers' experiences. At bit too noisy for some and definitely very crowded on "date nights." But worth the trouble if not too long a wait.

lively indded!

By Don M |

What a fun place! makes you feel very Irish which I am. the menu reeks of Irish. The corn beef and cabbage fixed much different from my idea. but very enjoyable . prices for philly certainly not out of line.. got my boddington ale at a reasonable price. Waitress was wonderful. I'd go again.

Good Irish Bar

By JandDatOCD |

Called here two nights while in Philadelphia. The bar is nice, the Guinness is real good and the barman from Antrim is really friendly. Worth a call.

Now this is a pub!!

By AkHasan |

The nooks and seating make you feel you're in Ireland or England. You can lose time in here. Never a bad meal and service very quick If you want a homemade style burger then this is the place. This is not a Five Guys or Shake Shack burger. This was much larger...made with feeling.

Local favorite

By Flounder M |

Dark woods, patio seating and dog friendly (any place that accepts animals gets a thumbs up from me). I ordered the Classic Aviation summer cocktail (I switched out the gin for Grey Goose vodka) - can smell the tangy lemon. Corned Beef & Potato Dumplings – the star was the corned beef, it was lean ++ Bread Pudding with ice cream – light and nice way to end an excellent meal. Come for the good food and service. It is within walking distance to the S. Broad hotels.

Great Place on a Dark Night

By nomad_rover |

We just lucked out finding this. Bridget found us a great table and in no time we were tucked into our favorite brews - very good selection - and not long after hearty vittles - a couple of meat loafs, a shepherd's pie among other choices. Thus fortified we could continue on to a gallery opening and other venues.

Can't go wrong

By Mary M |

If you're looking for a fun place to spend a few hours on a Friday after work, look no more! We got there around 5 and scored a great area in a semi-private room for our group of 5. Great service, great food, great drinks. Can't ask for more than that. And a decent price too. Look forward to going back. Our waitress, Bianca, made our night too with her awesome service and great personality.

For a great night out in Philly

By Chris F |

Fado has great bar food for great prices, along with nice happy hour specials. You can find yummy Irish fare here too, but overall the food in general is great. Their beer and drink specials are also reasonable and anyone can find something they like. If you're out on the town for the nightlife, Fado really picks up - they open up the dance floor and you can expect a fun time! It was fun to just get a bunch of appetizers, drinks, and then enjoy the dancing, so make this one of your stops on your next bar hopping tour.

Great food, venue

By Tom L |

We had a party of 200 that took the entire place during Army-Navy weekend. The staff is superb, venue ideal and the food is fabulous. Best Irish pub in town. Add to your bucket list.

Loved the atmosphere

By JessWal2010 |

This place had a cool vibe, with open bar areas and cozy little nooks, which we loved. The shepard's pie was awesome. Service was good. Overall, definitely worth the stop!

Tourist trap near broad street. Much better food around

By David P |

This place is Conveniently located in Center City a block away from the academy of music and other attractions. It’s pretty dark inside, I know they’ve been trying to get more natural light but the location doesn’t serve it well. It gets crowded for soccer game so be aware of before hand as well as Broadway shows in Center City. The food is standard bar food with its overpriced Center City quality. Kind of silly to pay $10 for a small salad entrée. I suppose it’s good for a drink before your show but there are so many other places to eat. At night, this place can sometimes turn into a party bar so be cautious when you arrive. It’s known for having a lot of homeless people outside asking for money

Decent food, slow service, loud music

By Sandra S |

Why must so many Irish pubs blast music? Don't they ever think their customers may want to talk to each other? The food was standard pub fare but was quite tasty. The service was friendly, but very slow.

Fun place for drinks

By kris c |

Stopped in with my wife on a day trip to Philly. The place was packed (always a good sign) and we got the last spot at the bar. It was a really fun experience. We both got local draft IPAs. The bartenders were very nice and we had a great time. We will definitely go back for food next time.

Great food and atmosphere!

By Heady-By |

Visited before and after a show at the Kimmel Center. Before, we had drinks and a pretzel. After, we had drinks and split the fish and chips - delicious! Great location near the Doubletree and the Kimmel Center, great food, and great atmosphere. Will keep this in mind for future trips.

Average

By Peter K Fallon |

Not much to say. Another Fado in another city. Smithwick's was good, the Harp a bit skanky (clean your hoses).

Great Place

By Russjuly17 |

The staff was really great staff!!! So were the drinks and the food!! The salmon bites were delicious. I would return here often!

Nice Lunch

By Charlie K |

Stopped in to Fado for the first time around lunch time on Sunday. We went with the lunch menu rather than brunch. I had a Reuben that was very tasty but not heavy by being soaked in butter or covered with sauce. My wife had hummus sandwich that was good along with the tortilla soup that was very tasty. Food overall was very surprising. Excellent choice of beers etc.

great pub

By Greenie_ok |

We used this pub to watch the football while on holiday in Philly. It serves a lovely pint of Guiness and the breakfasts are large and good value. Staff are friendly and a great atmosphere.

Great Bar

By bazoogler |

I would definitely go back again. Lots of options on tap. I had fish and chips. Fish was enormous and tasty. Everyone was happy with the food and wait staff.

The best

By Gail S |

I come here all the time. Weekday happy hour is great. I love the fish tacos. They are spicy so you may go for fish and chips if spicy is not your thing. I lost my ring last time here and they found it and saved it for me. Service is fast so if you have plans they will make sure you are on time.

So love this place!

By Jenniferjdutko |

Everything about this place is wonderful from the staff to the food to the drinks to the atmosphere. This is a must on your next trip to Philly

Good food, relaxed atmosphere

By musclegirl68 |

Fado was excellent. Even though the inside is cozy with rich, dark wood we decided to eat outside since it was such a nice evening. Our server was superb. She was fast and very friendly. The food was excellent. We recommend the Pulled Lamb French Dip (I wanted to drink the au jus), the Fado Reuben and the All-Day Irish Breakfast. They also have a huge selection of beer. We highly recommend.

Nice little Pub

By Weltenbummlerin389 |

We came here for Lunch and had a pretty nice time there with good food and some nice cocktails and long drinks. They have a pretty big menue for a pub and we enjoyed every minute there.

Great Service, Cozy Atmosphere

By Haley N |

Stopped by for afternoon drinks and enjoyed our time there. Had prompt service and even after shift change received excellent attention. A private function was happening across the bar but we never would have known if we stayed in our little nook. Thanks for a positive experience!

Average

By NOVACorps |

Had a better salad at Wendy’s. The salad was basically lettuce on a dish with one crumble of blue cheese and two little pieces of chicken. The fish and chips were good. Overall service was average as we had to ask for everything: silverware, refills on water, napkins, etc.

Drinks and Trivia

By vpn2009 |

Four of us stopped in for drinks and food before going to Elton John concert. The corned beef and cabbage was not great but the bartender was!!!! John entertained us with trivia questions along with stories of his Irish roots. He joined us for a beer after his shift and continued with his wit and humor. He, not the food, made the experience.

Best pub food

By MaryBeth P |

I have been to many pubs and this pub is by far the best one! Irish beer, great staff and the best pub food ever. The staff was very wonderful about me changing their menu to fit my craving. The ruben boxty is by far the best! very good I will tell everyone about it!

Typical pub in a box

By cathy h |

Nice place.... "authentic" created Irishness, but they do it right. Good service, they pull a nice pint, and the small plates of food we had were very well done.

Love, Love, Love

By pearlmiriam |

Great comfort food. Excellent service. Always open. We LOVE the pretzel appetizer. Even open during a snow storm. There are many quiet nooks to sit in, even when crowded. Great late night choice in Philly.

Irish Pub Near Kimmel Center

By Tom T |

We ate here pre-theatre and had the fish and chips which were nearly perfect. Service was good. It is an Irish bar so the noise level was pretty bad but not unexpected.

Limited Menu and Service

By LisaH502014 |

We chose to eat here for the first time due to recommendations from theatre goers and we love irish pubs. The menu is very limited, both food and drinks. The dessert menu only had 2 items. We ordered whiskey sours. They were awful. Nothing close to a whiskey sour. The fish and chips were soggy, but the cole slaw was a favorite. I had the farmer's market salad and it was very good. We also enjoyed the shepherd's pie. Our waitress was hard to find and the pub was not crowded. We had to bother another server to assist us. When I asked her if there was a certain wine available, I got a very rude response. I don't feel I would go there again. I always have had a good experience dining while in Philadelphia. Top notch food and service. This was my first disappointing dining experience in the city.

Fun atmosphere with yummy food

By Bridget S |

Upbeat crowds, tasty food & great location! We went on a Wednesday night for drinks & the place was full for bar trivia. We went back on a Friday and again, they were bustling! The food was delicious!

Good Time for Sunday Brunch

By Buddha23 |

Visited with my son prior to going to a 76ers game. Good food. Good service. Fun atmosphere on a Sunday morning watching proper "football".

Good food and ambiance

By Joel S |

Tasty version of Irish coffee topped with cinnamon, nicely spiced chili tacos, good service, eclectic menu, big screen TV. Nice place for an after show meal.

Good Food and Good Service

By Annmarie J |

My son and I have eaten here a couple times this year. We sat outside and enjoyed the sights of the city. We had fish and chips both times and they were quite good.

Bad experience

By Camper61026588594 |

I will never go here again in my life here’s why Saturday night January 18th. The bouncer would not let me in here after I was just in this bar I left and come back…. because I didn’t look up fast enough when I showed him my ID. Mind you I’m 25 years old and I did look up my friend just got into a uber I made she was ok because she called me. I was respectful and looked up after that. How do you decline letting someone in or was already in there and spent over 100 dollars in there? Then he did the same girl behind me who was 27 years old. Yous really need to figure something out with this bouncer. He was wearing clear glasses and black puffy jacket.

OMG SO GOOD

By Myke I |

You need to come here in your coming to Philadelphia. The fish and chips are to die for and the old fashioned drink was delicious. Come during happy hour. Cheers.

brunch on a rainy Sunday morning

By Abbie W |

Visited for brunch on a rainy Sunday morning. Good selection on the menu including a bottomless mimosa. Our friends ordered pancakes only to be told 5 minutes later that these were no longer on the menu. I had the salmon and avocado toast which was lovely. Good venu, but service was slow

Pre-concert Pub Grub

By DirkSparrow |

Stopped by for beverages and dinner prior to a Neil Young concert at the Academy of Music, around the corner. Pub was crowded, but they found us a table about to leave, got us beverages, and our server Chris took our orders, made recommendations (fish & chips), got us our food quickly. I had shepard's pie, and it was savory and a healthy serving. The Guinness was a perfect pour, and the Jamison's special label was cool. Nice noisy crowd and good nooks and crannies. Some of the atmosphere of a true Irish village pub (I have been over twice) in the midst of Philly downtown.

Worth a Visit

By Karen H |

We stopped here for supper and a couple of beers. Our waitress was really nice and attentive and the pub had a nice ambience. Our drinks and food arrived fairly quickly and were very good. Would recommend.

Yum but no live music.....

By Mholloway08 |

Sad no live music, came here to listen to some Irish music, (They stopped live sessions without telling me- ha!) so I stayed to eat and drink. My Shepherd's pie was lovely -tasty not bland, and my hef draught was okay. I would return if there was more time.... too many other options are waiting .......

Great place

By Sage7579 |

We found this pub while wandering around near our hotel. The atmosphere was great and the waitress we had was great. She made good recommendations and was excellent in her service. The food was great and the exactly what we needed that evening.

Great food, good atmosphere, fabulous drinks!

By SanDiego |

I stop in here occasionally for a late-night bite to eat. The fish and chips, tacos, and chips/curry are so good!! It's very dark inside, much like an authetic Irish pub. There is a great beer/cocktail menu and the price is right!

Solid, good comfort food

By Irina |

We've loved this place for years when our daughter danced at the Academy of Music and got out too late, when other places were closed. We always found this place pleasant, solid and just plain good. Today's mushroom cream soup was fragrant , with just the right amount of spices and cream. Our daughter's turkey pot pie was so beatiful, we had to take a picture. The layered, doughy creamy texture was so perfect, we felt bad cutting into it. My shepherd's pie was intense and comgorting. My husband's corn beef and cabbage melted in his mouth. Even the cranberry laden bread was excellent. No pretense. Just good food and friendly people.

Don’t miss this pub

By snorkel2013 |

Stopped for dinner tonight, what a treat. We were seated right away, a cordial server, Jill, greeted us. After taking drink orders we finally decided what to eat. Our dinners were delicious! Portions were plentiful, & I could substitute a salad for fries. The pub was pretty full but the noise level was really good. We sat & talked a while without straining to hear each other. Can’t wait to return to try more menu choices.

great food and great service

By Gromitspal |

Trythe cheese puffs and pork belly for appetizer.the meal was appetizing and the service was great.Stephanie and Darryl were entertaining beyond belief. Not only that but they served our little pup Gromit out on the patio after carding him. We'll be back.

One of my favorite stops

By kbially |

It's right off the speed line and a great place to stop for a great Guinness and some yummy food. Feels like you are walking into a pub in Ireland and there's always a soccer game to catch on tv!

Love This Irish Bar

By Terri E |

We love this Irish Bar. Most of the bartenders and staff are Irish. The beer selections on tap are a great variety. It also a great place to watch sporting events. It doesn't matter if its the middle of the day or late at night. They even open early for soccer matches in other time zones.

After Theatre Sancks

By David S |

I visited this pub following an opera performance with my family. Having had a hefty meal prior to the performance, we were interested in drinks and snacks. The menu features standard pub fare. We opted for an order of thick cut chips and mini-hamburgers. The food was good. The service seemed a little slow, and I wonder whether they had a full staff on, or if they were short-handed.

A little bit of Ireland.

By Eileen B |

This was our second visit. My daughter tried lamb for the first time and loved it. I had a corned beef and cabbage sandwich on flatbread which was delicious. If you like the pub atmosphere and want good Irish food. this is the place.

Great atmosphere

By VJOH |

Stopped here for a couple of beers. It was very crowded but we got seated at the bar stools. Ordered some jumbo wings, buffalo flavors. They were tender and tastes good but very spicy flavour. Nice place to hang out for a couple beers.

I made a reservation over the phone. Table was ready when we got there. Server was very good. Food was good and reasonably priced for the area. Overall a good experience.

Fado does not disappoint!

By NJBeachbummz |

My family and I visited Fado Irish Pub on a Friday night (June 5, 2015) before going to a show at the Academy of Music. I made reservations for five people at 6 o'clock using OpenTable.com (very easy!!). Entering Fado it is very dark from the dark woods that cover the walls and make up the bar and tables. Once your eyes adjust you see the beautiful woodwork that you expect in an Irish pub. We were seated immediately and our waitress asked for our drink orders. Fado has a nice variety of beer styles (I had the Palm - a nice Belgian pale ale); they also had American light beers for those that like that style. We placed our food order - Chicken boxty quesadilla (my teenager commented on how much she liked the quesadilla the following day), Harp battered fish tacos, and Fish and Chips (one order of the 'cup' and one 'dinner'). The food was plentiful and delicious! The fish and chips dinner entree had two large pieces of cod - nice and flakey! As we were leaving Fado was starting to become a little more crowded. We would love to go back and spend an evening with friends!

Philadelphia Favorite

We went to this pub with our daughter and son-in-law on a recent trip to Philadelphia. We stayed at a bed and breakfast on Pine Street so it was a pleasant walk to this pub ( recommended by staff at the bed and breakfast ). We arrived at 6:50 PM and the server immediately reminded us that the happy hour was in effect until 7:00 PM so we ordered Newcastle beers. Two of us had the fish ( haddock ) and chips while the others had meat dishes with Boxty ( Irish potato specialty which we had never had before ). This was one of the best fish and chips meals I have ever had, delicious fish in a light batter with hand cut fries. The Boxty dish was also delicious.Finished the meal with great Irish coffees. We visited on a Monday evening so it wasn't overly busy but the service and food was wonderful. The atmosphere reminded us of higher end pubs in London England. Highly recommended.

Nice Irish bar

By Joe PA |

We were in town last Friday night, Looking for a place to eat and get a few drinks and walked in to Fado' It is designed like the classic pubs of Ireland very cool indeed. They have good food and the service is good. If you are into soccer (or football)that is the place to go. We got picky foods sat by the window, And people watched the traffic on locust street. Is very relaxing good time. It's an adult like atmosphere For people in their thirties and forties to have a good time.

I love this place

By Craig M |

We did the Komen 3 Day in Philly and on the last day we went into this place. I think it was about 10am and it was full of people watching soccer and drinking. I loved it. Later I went there with my wife when we were visiting Philly and she loved it too.

Awesome atmosphere and good food and drink

By pammer1021 |

We found this pub on the first day of our vacation and stopped in four more times over our5 day visit to Philly. The food was all great – appetizers, entrées. Wings were good, shepherds pie was delicious, fish and chips were a hit for our family. Enjoyed the atmosphere… Watched a soccer game one day with a fun crowd. Another time we were in a small room pretty much to ourselves with our own TV and enjoy that as well. Staff was great and made us feel welcome.

Lovely evening!

By Virginia Adams O |

We had a lovely dinner at Fado. We were very pleased to be seated in the back of the restaurant which was quieter and allowed us to converse over our meal--the front of the house near the bar was very "lively!" Our server, Kyle, was terrific--paid the exact right amount of attention. Our cocktails were delicious (local mule and a couple of martinis). We enjoyed the appetizer (buffalo chicken chips), and two of our entrees (lamb French dip and the corned beef and cabbage). The diner who ordered the flatbread was less impressed with his entree so I would suggest sticking with more traditional pub fare (items they seem to do extremely well). Will definitely come here again.

A great find.

By slengyeljr |

We found this place by accident. The food was good and so was the service. Everything cook perfectly. I liked that you could sit where you wanted. Had some true Irish food on menu.

5 Shamrocks! Irish coffee is the best I ever tasted.

By Kathy M |

Everything we ordered was excellent. Steak boxty, wings and reuben were standout. Great variety of Irish beer. Crowd was a nice mix of couples, families and 20 Something's just hanging enjoying themselves. Do NOT leave this place without trying the Irish coffee, They also make it with Baileys, it's a MUST HAVE. Waitress and staff were very good. Definitely going back.

Good Irish Bar

By GGirl1982 |

Fados is a chain of Irish Pubs in most major cities in the US. You know exactly what you get. Good Irish style pub food. The Philly version is friendly. They accommodate groups for free. Serve a wide selection of beers. Sometimes it can be loud inside when there is a big sports event going on but the atmosphere is good. Late night offers only a small snack food menu. Eat before 10pm if you want full menu. I like Fados. It's a good safety when I travel and the one in Philly is no exception.

Pork Belly Supreme!!

By dbport |

My wife and I were visiting Philly, along with our dog and decided to give this place a try based on TripAdvisor reviews. We had appetizers since it was happy hour and selected ones were only $5. We tried the pork belly tacos and they were absolutely amazing!! We'd never had anything like this and highly recommend it if you like fusion type food. The fish and chips were excellent as well. In addition, I'd never mixed beers before but they had something called a Belgian Waffle (Guinness, which always floats on top, and Hoegaarden). Wonderful!! A bonus...we sat outside since we had our dog with us. The staff were very kind and attentive to her, in addition to us!!

Midnight Iris

By Joan F |

Best cheeseburger hands down! Had a wonderful evening with family and the food is delicious. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The casual and cozy atmosphere will draw you back. It is a local CHEERS.

Great place but pricey.

By Brad G |

Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. The drinks and food (especially the drinks) were a bit overpriced but I've never had a better burger in my life.

Surprisingly good food.

By Richard B |

Only been during the day for Soccer, Rugby, breakfast or lunch. I've never been disappointed with a meal. I'm told things can get a little weird at night when the kids come out.

Watch your bill!! They like to slip in a little surprise.

By Kevin H |

Attended the rugby match viewing March 18th. Family of 6. Two of us watched the rugby, the other 4 remained in bar area. Tab was almost $300. This included a "slipped in" bill for $10 x 3 for the rugby cover charge. They charged for one daughter who stopped to say hello during trip to restroom. We disputed the charge. Defiant response..."she must pay". Come on Fado, you can do better...real cheap shot. I have no objection to $290 of the tab, but that last $10 is theft. And the attitude was that I was a criminal, not a customer. Now, in fact, I am now longer a customer.

Brunch!

Nice atmosphere, gathering spot for Euro-football fans. The homemade corned beef hash was delicious. 👍

What a great fun place for food and libations

By Tom L |

Was in town for Army-Navy weekend. Had a private party of 150 people here. Staff was excellent, food was phenomenal and the atmosphere great. Walking distance to many hotels, subway and sights. Highly recommend when you are in town.

Great Fun

By BLT1991 |

They happily seated my family for dinner at about 8 pm on a Saturday. The pub was lively and loud, but the dinner was great. I’ve been to a number of Irish bars, but the food (and its presentation were exceptionally good). Half of our group got the Shepard’s Pie which was perfect for the rainy December night. The desserts were really, really good. Try the Irish coffee to top of the dinner.

Great food, great fun

By LalaMags |

We sat at the bar and the bartenders were a lot of fun. The food is excellent and they are very helpful in helping you choose something new or different than you've had before (food or beverage). The lay-out is a little different but it's very cozy. There are little tables around every corner it seem, cozy little nooks for couples and bigger tables for friends and family. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but decent. I enjoyed the shepherd's pie and the pickle-backs. They have excellent Irish coffee.

Great food in inviting atmosphere

By FLPapa |

We just happened upon Fado as we were walking from our hotel for find something for dinner. I don’t remember seeing it on TripAdvisor when I searched for nearby restaurants. We were greeted and seated by a very personable hostess who turned out to be our waitress, also. We both ordered the fish and chips. The portion was just right, and it tasted very good. The breading on the fish was light, and they were fried just right. We were there a little earlier than the usual dinner time, so they weren’t very busy, and Paulette engaged with us in very pleasant conversation. All in all, a great experience.

Try the lamb!

By ANNAMARGARET B |

This was my second visit to Fado. We were looking for a quiet place to converse, as it would have been on my first visit, but this Saturday night Fado was not that place. Still, even having to shout over the fun bar crowd, we were given great service and wonderful food - lamb sliders with carmelized onions and blue cheese, and lamb dip sandwich on baguette, both with au jus. Mmmm...and reasonable prices, too. Just call ahead if you want to avoid the ruckus, if not, join in!

Good food, terrible service

By Amanda P |

This is in no way a reflection of the food, but after being accused of stealing, and not even being given an, "I'm sorry", I don't think I'll ever be returning to this bar. My friend and I were accused of walking out on a check, only to return less than 24 hours later for breakfast. I am unsure why our waiter thought I would ever steal, or return to the place I had stolen from. I even pulled up the charge on my online banking to prove to him I paid the bill, but he didn't even take the moment to look at it. I frequently stop here for lunch, or to catch a soccer game, but I'd rather find another place to watch and eat, than to be accused of being dishonest. I'll continue to visit other Fado locations, but not this one.

So good, we went twice!

By Paul G |

We had a super meal before going to a concert -- the service was good. The place is a wee bit noisy, but it is an Irish pub! Lots of atmosphere, and the pints were perfect! Great location!

BEST Chicken Fingers EVER!

By Chelsea L |

Omg, I have never had chicken fingers as delicious as the ones I had here. They were beer battered and came with potato wedges that were also delicious. We sat outside which was great but be prepared to be dripped on from the AC leaking out of the windows. Keep your drinks covered!

A great pub with nice atmosphere and staff

By Arald1970 |

We went to the Fado a couple of times during our recent visit to Philadelphia and we really enjoyed it. The pub has a real Irish look and feel, the food is really good and they have a nice beer selection on tap. The staff is really nice and friendly as well so what else do you need? If you are in Philly you should try this place! You won't be disappointed. We were at the Fado during the first World Cup game of the USA team and the pub was packed and the atmosphere was fantastic! Compliments for our waitress because even though the place was really packed she never forgot us and managed to bring us a fresh beer just when we needed one! Truly amazing in such crowd. Next time I go to Philly I will go back to the Fado! It's probably the best place in town!

Happy hour, pre-show dinner, and tourists

By mrscress |

You will find a mix of everyone in Fado. It has a great location, very close to public transit, theaters, and lots of center city traffic. I used to come here often for happy hour when I worked down the street and will still stop in for a drink before seeing a show. It’s a quick, easy and good option for locals and tourists that want quick and causal food. I’ve always found the food to be good. I wish they still had Mangers (Bulmers) on draft! But they have the other Irish beers you’d expect in a pub. You will find people of all ages, tourists, as well as locals. Good option if you are nearby!

Good food, great atmosphere, ok service.

By Teresa |

My husband and I met my sister here for brunch on a Saturday. While it’s a limited brunch menu (it’s a pub after-all) the food was good and decently priced. The bloody Mary’s! 👍 I had the tomato omelette which wasn’t great. The eggs were kind of rubbery (fake-like) but the roasted potatoes were delicious. The brunch-style burger that my husband ate looked awesome. And so did the black bean burger. If we go back, I would like to try to their corned beef hash, for sure (only because it’s an Irish pub!) We were there while the soccer game was on - so the atmosphere was super lively and fun! Service out of the kitchen was a bit slow - but the restaurant was really packed. My only real complaint was that the water glasses never seemed to be filled by our server.

A traditional entree & a healthier seasonal special

By Globewalker73 |

A friend recommended this place for a recent dinner, I had the shephard's pie and he had a seasonal salad special with sushi quality tuna as an entree. Both were excellent and our server was terrific. The hostess mentioned it can be one of the best places in Philly when certain soccer matches are on their TV's.

Great food and atmosphere , the Irish breakfast is especially good

By bvlynch |

Ck so we are fans of the Fado bar in DC and this branch did not let the side down . the menu was the same so we could enjoy the dishes we loved to eat in DC . The Guinness was as good as it should be . The servers were OK but both times we ate here they seemed a little skittish , great service but a little over the top. That's better than being the opposite though but we did feel a bit rushed being asked every 4=5 mins how were were doing and did we want anything else.I know its a chain but they do a good job of quality control on the food . I do here the place can get a bit rowdy late at night and there were a few fights i believe so use your common sense if that's not the night your looking for.

Looking for a place to watch the Rugby World Cup?

By Pat_PDS |

My husband is a rugby fan and has struggled to find a place to watch this year's World Cup up in the suburbs. Gratefully Fado Irish Pub has it covered! Not only do they show every match but he is able to watch soccer at the same time. This comfortable pub, is a cozy place to curl up and watch the matches, while you dine on a variety of tasty meals. Four of us took the train to Philadelphia yesterday and watched two matches. Over the weekend Fado offers a large variety of brunches, and we each tried a different one. Not one of us was disappointed! The beer selection is awesome, the Bloody Mary's were yummy and the service WAS FANTASTIC!

love it

By kbially |

I've been going here for years, but once I moved out of the city, we stopped going. I just recently returned. I just love it here. The food never disappoints and the staff is super nice. I love the set up, it's just nice and cozy and you have your own space in a crowded bar. The beer is exceptional and I feel like I've gotten away for a bit when I visit. We took our kids here for lunch and it was great for our little family. I definitely miss going out at night here, but life changes.

Made to Order

By grrprr |

We were there for dinner on Saturday @ 6. Quickly seated in a side alcove that helped block the noise (music), but allowed us to overhear the entire conversation of the other occupied table. Service was quick and pleasant. Burger and fries were cooked to our desired specifications, and were yummy. The farmhouse salad with grilled chicken was filling, though it seemed to not have all the vegetables listed in the menu. Meal came to $37. Pretty reasonable.

Amazing

By Meagan |

I visited with my husband while on vacation. Food and service were excellent! Our server, Mandy, was both attentive and knowledgeable.

Solid Pub Food

By tlcoach14 |

Came here on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. I know they are going for an Irish Pub feel but man it was dark in there! Other than that no complaints. The food was on point with generous portion sizes.

Good Service but Limited Menu

By mct12 |

We choose to eat here because it was convenient for dinner before going to a show. Our server was very friendly and gave us entree suggestions. We were disappointed that there were not more food choices. The sandwiches we had ( chicken & a burger) were fine, but not excellent. Dessert had only 2 choices.

Love it here

By Nichol3 |

This was our second visit. Great food and excellent beer selection. Went there for dinner on a Saturday when it was super busy but the bartenders were friendly and attentive. Fun, cozy atmosphere

Good solid pub

By James L |

We tried Fado for a quick dinner option close to our hotel. We both had fish and chips and the fish was quite good, but the chips tasted like they had been under a warming lamp for quite a bit. Even with that we found the atmosphere to be welcoming and enjoyable

Great mid-day Classic Irish lunch

By Robert S |

Cheerful welcome like the old country, soccer matches on the TVs and a friendly pub setting. Great waitress with descriptions of each dish made ordering easy. Fine bar and good drafts. Classic Irish breakfast can't get better. The other sandwiches were great too. Go!

The best pub in the area

By travel ginger |

Very happy friendly and helpful staff. Lots of food choices on the menu the the fado burger was what I had and I would highly recommend it. Brilliant location and excellent for watching sport.

Nice salads and Irish breakfast for lunch!

By David K |

We were looking for something close to the Double Tree by Hilton and came upon this pub. It was not crowded for lunch, but the food was very good. Nice salads and Irish breakfast for lunch!

Top of the line

By Jack K |

Spacious, well-run, authentic Irish pub. Excellent, very friendly and attentive service. Comfort food. Tasty and well presented. Reasonable prices. Great central location. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended.

Outstanding service

Delores (DeLo) was or bartender on each of our visits. She was outstanding as a server as well as providing information on the city. It was our favorite watering hole everyday of or visit! Thanks for the Birthday brownie and Guinness ice cream-so yummy!

Disappointing Experience

By Karen M |

We used to enjoy this place, until last week when my group of four stopped by Fado to enjoy drinks and appetizers in their outdoor seating. Not too long after we received our drinks a homeless man started accosting people on 15th Street. First he started with two men that were able to distance themselves by getting into a cab, then he came over and started with guests seated outside at Fado. He harassed several tables while the waitstaff just stood inside the door. When he started with our table, we asked him to move along, after a moment of him delivering both compliments and insults, we were finally able to get him to discontinue harassing everyone and leave the area. Moments later a woman identifying herself as the Manager finally comes out from the doorway and what does she do, not apologize but speaks aggressively to parties at our table stating that they shouldn't have spoken to him, she had called the police and was dealing with it and that if he came back we were not to say anything to him under any circumstances or else. Wrong way to handle the situation! Where was she during the 5 minutes he was harassing guests at their outdoor seating, why didn't she ask HIM not to speak to her guests and to move along, we were the ones to get him to finally move along. Such poor management skills and attitude. She claims that she didn't know he was bothering other guests and we explained to her that's because you weren't outside during his 5 minute rant and just exasperated the situation when finally showing up only to be rude to your own guests. We even informed her that we could show her video of the last minutes where he moved from harassing guests at another table to our table. All of us have lived in Center City for quite a few years and have never encountered an establishment where the Manager blames the guests for being harassed. We were extremely disappointed with how the staff, especially the Manager, handled the situation and left because of her handling of the situation.

Relaxing, rainy Saturday afternoon in a pleasant and authentic atmosphere

By Aaron W |

My girlfriend had a few hours to kill on a Saturday afternoon before attending a social function. We'd planned to spend it walking around Philadelphia, but the pouring rain canceled those plans. So, we picked Fado based on the criteria that it was right in front of us and it was open. The interior retains many authentic aspects of a pub in Ireland, particularly the wood paneling and spaciousness. We parked ourselves at a small table by the fireplace, the only visible table with comfortable looking chairs instead of bar stools. Service was very friendly, and she was very attentive, especially considering how busy it was by the time we left. My girlfriend's pints of Guinness were perfectly poured. I was drinking bourbon, which was generously served. For a light dinner, my girlfriend had the lunch portion of fish and chips, and I had the soup and salad combo. The soup was a roasted red pepper soup. All of the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We were definitely older than most of the crowd here. There was at least one group that was kicking off a bachelor party. We enjoyed watching everyone have a good time.

Awesome Place for Soccer and Rugby Games

By lcattau |

I've been to Fado numerous times over the past ten years for different occasions: night-time bar scene with dancing, early morning brunch to watch a soccer game, and for a weeknight pub trivia. All were excellent. I usually try to avoid overly-crowded Center City bars, but this place is great. It has a great niche market by showing so many soccer games. It's so fun to see European fans come together. Also, their brunch was amazing and the speciality breakfast drinks were cheap and AMAZING. I haven't done their pub trivia in years, and I remember it being a little too long (there were like 8 rounds) but that may have changed. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you are looking to watch rugby or soccer. They post on their website which games they are showing.

Music too loud

By ErikaDuenas |

I enjoyed my time here. The food and alcohol was decent. The music was way too loud! I couldn't hear anything my friends were saying and we were there for dinner. It's cool for nightlife I guess

Great Irish Pub!

By BinMcKin |

We found this pub by doing a google search and upon discovering it was only a few blocks from our hotel we were on our way. The pub has a few outdoor tables, but the inside is very nice for an Irish pub. Nice little corner tables and niches perfect for friends to gather. We were there for lunch with our yôung kids. They aren't as kid friendly as some other restaurants (no kiddy cups or coloring sheets)...but they are an Irish pub and that is okay. The food was good, slightly more fancy than your typical pub grub. Good beers on tap and excellent atmosphere.

Never there again!

By Janne S |

I visited in Fado Irish Pub on St Patrick’s Day lunch time and took 1 beer. Price was 13,20$. I wrote 2$ tip to the receipt. When I at home checked bank information had Fado charged me 41,20$. So took 28$ tip!! Not good!!

I good place to hangout with friends

By danielfogaca |

It is a good place, with good music and drinks. The beer specially is awesome and not expensive. I went there several times, and all of them I had so much fun.

Great Irish bar until later in the evening

By keithnewhook |

Went here Thursday evening for a few beer. Sat at bar. Excellent Irish bar, great bartender and a nice beer list. Noticed signs saying "bar stools removed at 9:30 pm". We didn't know why, but found out later in the evening. We left for dinner and returned around 11 pm. It appears that the bar turns into a busy nightclub. There was a DJ, dance music, etc. It was a nice spot, but they appear to transition from Irish late night. Fun spot, both versions!

Don’t bother with this place

By PhillyHan |

Terrible. Now I see why so many people don’t go anymore. I don’t know where they are finding their bouncers but they’ve become a well known issue with the place. Would recommend to absolutely no one.

Perfect meal before a show

By kalumaningi |

We were a family of 8 that stopped here for dinner on our way to the theater. We had three children in our party. The restaurant does not have a kids menu but they have chicken tenders, sliders, etc which were perfect for them. The food was surprisingly good - the fish and pork tacos were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised at how great our meal was.

Excellent food and drinks

By T K |

My wife and I had lunch at Fado. The selections were excellent and also had some vegetarian choices- Black bean burger, hummus with flat bread etc. Huge selection of beers and spirits. The Fado burger is no ordinary burger- very creatively made! Service was excellent. We beat the crowd and had very attentive and courteous service.

In a land far, far away...

By crabman27 |

I went to Fado' Irish Pub with a friend from work. We were in town due to a snow storm that came in and was staying overnight. Fado means long ago. What a great bar! Good atmosphere and the bartender and wait staff were very attentive and pleasant. I had the cheese and wedges as an appetizer followed by fish and chips. My frind had the shepherd's pie. Both meals were delicious. The cod was very fresh and flaky. The chips were done perfectly. The coleslaw was very chilly and that's all that matters. We met a nice couple who were in town for the flower show and just beginning their retirement. Great bar, good food, nice people, reasonable prices all measured up to a good evening. I will definitely return to Fado' Irish Pub.

Greasy food, bad service

By geminigirl |

Went with friends for dinner. The cheesesteak eggrolls were thick with grease, the bacin, cheese, tomato grilled sandwich was tasteless and, again, greasy. The wings were good. The shepherds pie was greasy. The service was bad. I ordered my dish, everyone else's came out, mine was not to be seen. Time went by. I watched as other tables who had ordered after me got their food. I had to ask Hannah where my dish was. Same with the beer. Ordered it, and everyone else got their drink while mine was not to be seen. Had to ask about it. Would never recommend this place.

Horrible experience

By creees |

My husband and I entered and looked for a place at the bar; none was available, do we sat in the bar area at a side counter, a waitress came over and indicated that this was a reserved area ; so we moved to another area, Just standing best a "reserved are " yhe edit read came back to remind us that it was reserved; I told her that I was aware and was not encroaching on the space . We were just standing there, she promptly told me that she was telling the manager! A very over reaction to the situation! I wash livid and spoke to the manager trying to figure out why this was escalating this way! He gave us our money back for the drinks we had purchased and refused to serve us. What a place! As we were walking out, a fight broke out in the back room where the party was talking place ( reason for the reserved area); no one was even near the dreaded area!

real ambience

By Phil J |

Authentic look and feel of Irish Pub - really gets cooking around 9 pm. The food was generally good, the beer was very fresh and lots of variety, and service was outstanding. Really a wonderful experience and reasonably priced

Good pub

By Kayleigh M |

Fado was good for a dinner in Philly, but not the best. The menu isn't very large but the Pub Burger and wedge french fries were good. Fortunately we weren't there to watch a game because our table and several others weren't in a position to comfortably watch any of the TVs. Our server did forget the last beer we ordered but was otherwise kind and attentive. This is definitely a casual pub for a beer and game, so great if that's what you're visiting for.

Nice bar area, eating tables set up confusing

By SDP40 |

This is a chain - and if you are looking for a nice place to sit at the bar, have a chat with the bar person etc this is what it does best. However if you want to have a nice meal - it is just okay. First seating is confusing - there is a person at the front who will seat you but we saw soo many people just walking in and trying to nab a free table causing confusion. Probably due to the way the eating areas are set it. Also the person at the front seems annoyed we had not made a reservation despite there always being free tables whilst we were there, it seemed a big deal to find us one despite us being in no rush. Its a small thing but the high table fixed bench seats are too low for the average height person making it hard to get comfortable and eat. Food and service was just acceptable - it was slow and the food was luke warm but tasty. We accidentally spilt a drink all over the table - our fault I know but the server made no effort to assist and when we asked for more napkins to replace the cloth ones we just to mop up the drink she brought us paper ones. Its the little things.

Incredible service, delicious food and outstanding staff......

By Tbonnette2014 |

We hosted our son's surprise 30th here a wk ago....a favorite pub of his for soccer! We had about 75 people for brunch on a Sunday morning. Right from the start with the booking to the end of the party...Molly is the event coordinator and did an impeccable job organizing the party from the food choices to the bar menu to the venue set up....she was both patient and personable and went above and beyond! On the day of the party, Casey , the GM, met us and again...he went out of his way with service from our set up to our meal etc. Our two servers that day , were Brigette and Chelsea....they handled the party of 75 without a glitch. Everyone commented on their wonderful service and how personable they were. They served for 4 hours...nonstop. All of the other staff, from our bartender to the chef and kitchen staff...turned out a delicious and diverse Brunch menu. Needless to say, we can not thank you all enough. Thank you for making our celebration so wonderful.

"The" place to have a nice time in Philadelphia

By Arald1970 |

We visited this pub a few times before and on our last trip to the US we went back to the Fado and once again we found the amazing atmoshere which we experienced during our previous visits. This pub is really how you expect a pub to be. Great food, perfect pints, great and friendly staff and an amzing atmosphere. This pub is really lively, there is Always something going on, Always somebody to talk to.... The staff is really amazing. The waitress who served us last year during the worldcup when the place was packed still rememberd us and rememberd what we had back then! If you are in Philly, go to this pub, you won't be disappointed because this is the place to be!

Listen to John

By kaserimac |

So my husband and I found this place on line. We wanted great, authentic, Philly pub food. After a busy morning of touring the city, we were pretty hungry. Not knowing what to order that was "special", we asked our waiter John. He was dead on with everything he suggested. We don't like lamb but the chips with lamb and peppercorn sauce was amazing as a starter. My husband got his typical fish and chips but I wanted something different. John recommended the chicken quesadilla. It was fantastic. He also said they serve a awesome bread pudding. We couldn't eat another bite but if I come back to this city, I'm hitting Fado ' s up again.

Great staff and food!

By 679Kim |

Go wild on the apps! So good! Turkey burger is a big thumbs down but everything else was amazing! Will return!

Lovely surprise in the city

By teatray53 |

Following a recommendation, a group of us walked to the Fado Irish Pub for a celebration dinner after my niece's graduation from the Philadelphia Art Institute, and were pleasantly surprised. It's very authentic looking with all the wood and little alcoves, and of course sparsely lit, as most real pubs are. But what impressed us was the unique, different, and absolutely delicious food! We started out with an appetizer of flattened, triangular shaped potatoe wedges and a cheese dip that was out of this world. Then I personally had the fish tacos and an order of the thick "chips" ( french fries ) with Harp lager cheese and bacon on top and both were scrumptious. Others in our party had the mac and cheese, chicken wings, cheeseburgers with a fabulous side of coleslaw that was really different and more like a cabbage salad, corned beef that was very tender, and delicious grilled chicken and bacon on flatbread. Everything was well prepared and very tasty and was served fairly quickly. If we had any complaints it would only be that our waitress took some time before taking our orders, and again at the end took a long time before bringing our checks and collecting our money. But in all fairness it did seem as though she was waiting on several others besides us so was probably doing the best she could. If you're ever in Philly and want a great place to eat do give this place a try. Wish we had one closer to where I live!

Good Happy Hour

We went for a quick drink and realized it was happy hour. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We ordered the smoked salmon bites with our drinks. Our waiter tried to tell us they were small, but we informed him we had dinner plans elsewhere later that night. The bar is dark and has a nice “older” feel to it. The salmon bites were outstanding! Maybe we will try dinner next time we’re in Philadelphia.

Great breakfast while watching the game

Piled in at 7am to watch the EPL, place was already busy with fans from both teams. A good atmosphere, service was prompt and attentive. Breakfast menu is quite varied and lots of good choices. Food came out well cooked and hit the spot!

Drinks

My husband and I stopped in for a quick drink after seeing Riverdance. What a treat it felt we stepped right back into Belfast or perhaps even into Temple Bar. The decor and menu took us back to Ireland itself, and the friendly wait staff was quick to serve. My only regret was not being able to stay longer and photos is on our list to come back to in the future.

A true taste of Ireland

excellent food and service. Chelsea, our waitress, offered great recommendations and very good service. Very reasonably priced and modest portions that we were looking for, especially for our pre-theater meal. Very short walk from Academy of Music.

Lots of people? No Prob!

My sisters and our families (13 of us) descended on this warm (mood warm) pub, they welcomed us to a big, high, thick wood table. The beer is great. The waitress effortlessly, happily kept coming back and getting us more, and more, food and drink. I wouldn't say the food was outstanding, but it was really good, stick to your ribs pub grub. Big soft pretzel $9.95, this should be half the price. $14 / $15 for a burger, good, but small, maybe $9 would be a more appropriate price point. Wings were great, a little over a buck a piece. Fun, loud place.

Dinner n football

We went there on New Years Eve and had a very good meal plus good service from Mary El. The Sheppard's Pie was very good plus the salad with it was great. Marie had a double stack cheese burger that she really enjoyed. Well worth the visit

Good menu and fun atmosphere. Food was great and service was excellent. Decent sized crowd watching football while we were there.

Delicious!

My husband is Irish and has eaten tons of Shepard's Pie in his life and he said this was the "best he's ever had". I had Fish & Chips and it was great. Big place, but had a quaint atmosphere. Nice staff. Would eat here again no question!

A Wedding rehearsal dinner at Fado

By Chad C |

Fado, probably not the first place you think of having your Wedding rehearsal dinner but maybe you should! Our Wedding was at the Cescaphe Ballroom so our goal for the rehearsal dinner was something more laid back with great food/drinks and fun…Fado nailed it! My wife and I have always enjoyed Irish Pubs and thought this could be perfect. We are hug fans of customer service and Molly at Fado was the definition of customer service. My wife ate at Fado before but I didn’t so we made a trip down to the city to try the food prior to our Wedding weekend. Molly set up a reserved table for us and walked us through the menu on what we should try. She already prepared suggestions and pricing before we walked in the door. She also would email us back in seconds when we had questions. Molly took care of us from start to finish, truly provided exceptional customer service. Our server both for the tasting and rehearsal dinner, Josh, gets a special shout-out! He was great, enjoyable to chat with and a customer service pro, so we requested him for our rehearsal dinner. And wouldn’t you know it, as soon as we walk in, there was Josh waiting for us! We have a group of family and friends who enjoy the finer things in life so we were nervous on how they would react to a Pub style rehearsal dinner…They loved it! They could not stop talking about how amazing the food was. We set up a buffet style with a variety of different apps and then had an open bar with some draft beers and wine, it worked perfect! It was just the right amount of food and selection, Molly was such a huge help to make this work flawless. Thank you Molly, Josh and Fado for an amazing rehearsal dinner and for ‘wow’ing” all of our family and friends. We plan to enjoy many more great nights a Fado once we move to the city!

Best Bread Pudding in the US

By Nef R |

We used to have a Fado Irish Pub in Austin Texas, however it closed long time ago. Since then I've been trying to find bread pudding as good as theirs to no avail. Fado has, in my opinion, the best bread pudding in the world. The ice cream on top makes it even better. I used to take friend and drive 50 miles to Fado just so they could taste this delicacy. Tried to get their recipe several times to no avail. Hope they come back to Austin.

A true irish experience

Authentic looking Irish pub

My hubby and I made reservations here for Valentine's Day as we were going to see a show at the Merriam afterwards. Fado had good reviews and we like Irish fare. Hubby had fish n chips and me Shepherd's pie. He had a nice portion, looked a bit greasy to me, but he liked his meal. My dinner was so so. The salad had a spice on it, thinking cumin or something that tasted like taco seasoning. The pie was skimpy; mostly mashed potatoes. Underneath was dark brown gravy and a little hamburger. No carrots or peas. Very disappointed. The waiter was nice but had too many tables. Waited for a slice of lemon for my tea and our dinner. Got to the theater in time, but didn't get a program. Looks like a fun bar scene.

Just OK

We needed a place close to the Kimmel Center and decided to give Fado a try for dinner. The place itself has a nice feel with a gigantic wrap around bar almost the size of the place. There was a fairly big crowd by the time we left. They have great selection of beer and a fairly good-sized menu. The food, however, was not all that good. The Avocado RLT (a play on a BLT) had little to no flavor. The Shepherds Pie was also on the bland side. So with 2 beers, before tip, the bill came to around $40. Might stop in again for a drink but would definitely eat somewhere else.

Great Atmosphere and Great Food

By Scigal2 |

I'm not a big fan of bars and loud noises, but this little Irish Pub had tables in an adorable little room that looked like an old train car. We asked our waitress what to order and she recommended the quesadillas. They were delicious. The outer layer was actually a flat potato cake instead of tortillas. They were filled with chicken, peppers and cheese and topped off with pico and a wonderful spicy sauce. Great service all around.

Good food and atmosphere

We checked some sites to find an Irish Pub near where we were staying & found this place. We couldn’t believe we had never eaten here. We were lucky enough to still hit Happy Hour which was 5-7 during the week. The waitress put us in a separate little area with only 4 tables so even though it was crowded at the bar, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Even when another couple came in, they were seated catty-corner from us so we still had some privacy. Happy Hour meant some deprinks were a dollar off plus some snacks were reduced prices. We opted for the Farmhouse salad which was delicious, the pear salad with chicken which was also delicious, and the Shepherds’s pie which was very good. The reason that was only very good was because all the ingredients under the potatoes seemed to mush into one which was good but indistinguishable. Service was really fast, and our waitress was very pleasant. We would go back.
