We came to eat at this place because the reviews sounded good, since we had reservations we were seated right away, upon being seated we ordered the appetizer and that came right away. We ordered the Mongolian beef with the fried rice, now let me begin to say we had to ask when we were going to receive the rice since it never came until we made a point that the beef had come already , the food was spicy and we never got asked if we needed a refill of water. No one came to our table but were being very attentive to other guest that were there that were from their race, never in my life have I ever felt as discriminated as I did in this restaurant, it was very disappointing because it seems they are from the same sister restuarant as House of NanKing, which is another restuarant in the area where the service was far different. There are many good restaurants in San Francisco I wouldn't waste my time here.

We had a business dinner here, celebrating an award that one of us received. The chef chose all of the dishes for our large table to share. He just brought out one after another, until we could not eat any more. He was also very careful about my food allergies. We paid $200, but we had six people and some of them drank beer. A good value and the food was superb!

This is my second visit to Fang and the food is clean, fresh and not oily. We want the Shang-Hai buns but they take 20 minutes to order. Noodles are house made and shrimp dishes come with lots of shrimps .

Once a year, I attend a sales conference in San Francisco (although I am local) and Fang is a must annually. It's a small space but with "bigly" food. The owner or his daughter is usually there and are happy to just order for you...you just advise if you have any preferences for gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. and they will just bring the dishes. The food is AWESOME and I have never been disappointed in any of the dishes. The advantage of asking them to just order for you is that you get to try dishes you probably would not order on your own. It's on Howard Street, 1 block from the W Hotel.

Atmosphere: Dirty utensils, cluttered, bar did not look like the photo on TripAdvisor—it was piled up with napkins; loud conversations from the kitchen Location: Excellent Food: Only vegan options are oily vegetables, rice and deep fried tofu. Other guests’ food were deep fried and drenched in oil. Menu descriptions were misleading. Pressures from owner/waiter to try his special menu but when asked for the descriptions he said beef, chicken, seafood. (Maybe he should print a tasting menu?) Service: There wasn’t any. Owner/waiter should present himself more professionally and not dress in a casual shirt with words on the back. Prices: $17 for oily, garlic spinach? It wasn’t on the menu and since I don’t like green beans or book choy, owner/waiter made it for me. Can you imagine the bill if we went with his ‘special menu’? I can tolerate bad service or bad food or bad atmosphere but not all at once.

Food was over rated. Service was terrible. The pork ribs were just ok. The highly recommended fried rice was not good. Added chicken to it. The chicken was not seasoned at all. I was very disappointed.

Went here for lunch during a conference and we were able to get a table. The owner/chef waited on us and recommended family style. Every dish was fantastic, fish, ribs, chicken, and fried rice. Every single thing was magnificent.

TLDR: You and your wallet will be better off going to any hole-in-the-wall places in Chinatown, here’s why: Arrived five minutes early for our dinner reservation and was greeted by an expressionless and wordless lady who decided to ignore us for the next 15 minutes, even though we repeatedly told her and multiple staff members that walked by that we had a reservation and there were about five tables available in the restaurant. When we were finally seated, we weren’t given utensils for at least five minutes and had to ask for them. Utensils felt like they were hand washed and were extremely sticky to the touch - so gross! Advice to owner - please invest in a machine dishwasher and get better detergent (they come cheap and in bulk at Costco), my dishwasher at home does a better job than this! Then the chef/owner came by and offered to pick our dishes for us and we stupidly agreed - huge mistake! The dishes came at twice the menu price and were extremely meh. Veggies were salty and undercooked and meat was burnt. Not to mention the protein portion of the dishes which was supposed to be the star of the dish was diced up to little pieces to give the illusion of quantity when there was really none, which made the $150 check for four people even more outrageous. We won’t be returning to this place, ever. Totally not worth the hype.

Two steps from the W! Great menu , good value , friendly service ! I’m not a Tofu person normally but the honey basted tofu is delicious! As are the spicy soups ! Share dishes as they are as generous as they are delicious! We had a great time !

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge. It was conveniently located. The portions were nice size. Our favorite was the seasame chicken dish. We had pot stickers and hot and sour soup both of which were very good. We would not have the beef and noodles dish again. It was a little noisy and crowded so not relaxing.

Recommend by concierge at the Hilton Union Square, we made the short walk to Fang located by SFSOMA. Seated and quickly greeted by the owner/chef who took our menus and said, “I’ll take care of you”. Every dish was delicious! Table side fried rice, apple prawns and short ribs are must haves. Family of four with cocktails and 6 dishes for under $200.

One of the best Chinese meals of my life...and I’ve been to China, twice. Owner asked if it was our first visit. We said “yes.” He took away our menus and stated “I’ll take care of you.” Boy, did he ever. 5 courses. Each was unique and delicious. Dinner for 2 with 3 beers came to $95 before tip. Not the cheapest meal, but worth every penny.

First time I have refused to leave a tip! Not sure whether it was because I was a solo diner but my order was wrong, I had to ask for my drink twice, the staff were rude and when my card was declined I was treated like it was my fault even though it turned out to be there mistake. Food was also average unfortunately.

Did a date night with my husband at Fang. It’s located downtown San Francisco close to the Moscone Center. We ordered sticky beef ribs, sesame chicken, buns with duck and fried rice. Very good food. Service was busy so we had to wait a little while before our drinks arrived. They close early so plan accordingly.

Four of us decided to try out Fang's. One of the party was a California native but none of us had visited before. The owner asked if we had been there before as we looked at the menu. He asked if we minded if he chose from the menu. We agreed and WOW were we delighted! He brought us 6 dishes of the most tasty Asian food I have had in a long while and the meat was very tender and cooked to perfection! I don't believe that it was "especially for us", as it came out of the kitchen very fast and fresh. Service was great. Restaurant was clean and neat and you can see the food being prepped and cooked. One of us went to wash their hands and was pleasantly surprised to find a place to wash them OUTSIDE of the bathrooms themselves so they did not have to go in just for that purpose. Would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant and try everything and anything as I am sure it will please your taste buds and satisfy your hunger.

My husband took me here having been before and loved it. We booked for Friday night. Slightly surprised when we got there that nobody was remotely interested in our reservation, probably because it wasn’t that busy anyway, though there was clearly a bit function in another room. Service was, to put it politely, erratic. We were brought water and beers arrived in bottles - no glasses offered. We ordered a starter to share, main dishes, sides and rice. We waited a long time while trays of dishes were hurried to the function or big table booking. Eventually our starter arrived - with the two main dishes. Sides came a while later. The rice…after chasing…eventually came but by then we’d almost got past caring. The food was very good. What a shame the service spoiled it.

Peter Fang has created a wonderful restaurant -- this is the best Chinese food in San Francisco, including Chinatown (where his tiny Nanking Restaurant always had lines around the block!) Mr. Fang, and his daughter Kathy, will recommend special dishes (based on your interests, tastes and allergies) with the freshest market vegetables and fish. It was hidden for several years by the construction at the nearby SF MOMA, but now many have discovered it. I'm glad for the Fangs, but always disappointed if we can't get a reservation!

I honestly don’t understand the glowing reviews of this restaurant. We foolishly allowed the man mentioned in many other reviews (perhaps Mr Fang) to take our menus away and choose our meal for us. With hindsight, we should have asked what this meal would cost in advance. I feel it’s a bit of a con to almost insist (by closing the menus) on providing a set menu with no indication of what it will cost per head. Our bill for 3 people was $135 (2 soft drinks, 1 beer). The short rib was delicious, the rest of the dishes were only average. I would suggest you try somewhere else or choose the dishes that you think you will enjoy if you do frequent this restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised when we went to Fang on Howard. It seemed a little bit less than what I had hoped for in the way of higher end restaurants, but the food actually was very good. We all ordered a number of different dishes (actually the owner helped direct us toward a variety of dishes that he GUARANTEED that we would love) - the guy was right! We had a great time, good food and overall, really enjoyed the meal! I do recommend this place to my friends!

Aside from not clearly understanding our server 100% and no one at our table caring for the house noodles, we were very pleased with Fang. Vegetable dumplings (6), hot-and-sour soup (get the bigger bowl) and portobello mushroom appetizers were enough for 2 adults + boy to share. Owner Fang recommended a vegetarian fava bean dish, so we added that. When a cold snowpea side dish also came, I asked about it and another server seemed to explain it was from the chef. Not sure if we were charged for it. Steamed buns were clearly the favorite for the kids.

I booked on open table this place as Trou Normond was booked until 9. I took two business colleagues for dinner. Service was spotty with one gal strictly responsible for drinks. The owner Mr Fang came to our table and told us to go with his personal chefs selections for the evening. The food came out quickly - almost too quickly so we had a hard time pacing with the number of dishes arriving on the table. Dishes: vegetable and chicken birds nest, pan fried pot stickers, soup dumplings, beef spare ribs with veggies; shrimp. We also ordered on the side extra mao pao tofu with rice. Total bill was under $155 for all three of us and a drink each. Proximity to MOMA is added bonus.

If you want good service do not go to this restaurant. It is practically nonexistent. However, the food is delicious. The crispy potstickers had a unique flavor. The fried rice cooked at the table was pretty cool and tasted great . The short rib dish was lovely. I’m glad we went but I won’t be back.

Great delicious food! We asked Fang what he recommended and he asked us what we like. We replied beef and chicken. He took it from there and prepared us 6 different dishes that were great. The pork buns were out of this world! Don’t pass this gem up if you want Chinese food!

The union crew told me about Fang. All of them. They talked about dumplings, and crushed hot sauce, so many things I couldn't remember. I left the show early and ran to be first in line at:50 for door open. They were filming for a reality show. I had literally the perfect seat as a single diner tucked in the corner window seat. The service was exquisite. I wasn't sure what to order so I asked the older gentleman ( her dad I was told!) for dumplings and to choose 2 dishes for me. Bring me Anything! I got a lovely noodle + chicken dish, and a fish dish. And I ate the yummy garlic crushed hot sauce directly with my chopsticks.

For business, I've been in the city for 5 days every year since 2010. One of my favorite spots to visit for lunch or dinner is Fangs, just out of the rear door and to your left of the W Hotel. Fangs is always consistent with excellent Asian food with a different twist. You can order multiple dishes to taste and set your taste buds in gear. Always enjoy my meal when visiting.

I saw this restaurant on the Food Network. A friend and I went there for lunch. I ordered “traditional wonton soup” and it came out as watery soup with excellent dumplings. I ordered steamed vegetarian soup and the dumplings were excellent. The owner changed the soup and brought the house made wonton soup, which was delicious.

We went here for lunch as a group of 6. Mr Fang introduced himself, took our menus and said he would build us lunch. We had some great dishes, for sure. Enough food, but certainly not a ton of food. The cost was $350. I thought this was a bit excessive but my fault for not asking what it was going to cost. So good food but $60pp for lunch with no alcohol is a bit steep.

We actually intended to eat at another restaurant but it had a +1 hour wait on a Sat evening at 5pm! so we found this restaurant by mistake. We called ahead and could be seated immediately so we walked over to Fang, near the convention which was undergoing renovations. What a wonderful surprise! The service was warm and welcoming and the menu offered a lot of variety. We ordered wontons and soup to start and split some meals family style. We did not feel rushed at all. When we left, the restaurant was completely packed. So happy we stumbled upon this place!! What a nice surprise!

We were pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu and the quality of food at Fang. The service was also excellent! We especially enjoyed the Honey Apple Prawns and the Lotus Chicken. This was a great experience in downtown San Francisco.

We were really disappointed in our dining experience. We expected better food and service. We thought our food was pretty mediocre, overly salted and overcooked. Upon arrival, we decided to use the bathrooms before we sat down. The bathrooms were filthy, especially the toilet seats. Both men and women in our group returned to the table and commented on the foul bathroom conditions. One person in our group postponed using the bathroom because of the squalid conditions. The waiter person took our order promptly and brought us our food, but never checked back to refill our drinks or check with us to ask if we needed anything. We ordered 2 entrees to share: Ginger chicken and the Sesame chicken . The portion size was extremely generous. Each order could have fed 4 people. But the chicken in both dishes were badly overcooked and overly salted. The vegetables in both entree dishes were very tasty. In addition to our 2 entree orders and white rice, we ordered spring rolls. The vegetarian spring rolls were good. The booths near the kitchen offered us some relief from the noise. Given the overall experience, we don't plan to reurn

The food was excellent. I got to meet Chef Peter Fang and I asked if he would be willing to make my selections for me, and he did and it was great. Ribs as the appetizer, and chicken bun, and broccoli with shrimp and broccoli as the main. All very good, and it was fun to not know what was coming out. That said, I must have waited 30 minutes after my meal, to get a doggie bag and check. I was done eating, had nothing to drink, and I was just waiting. I was solo so it was especially noticeable to me. There wasn’t even an opportunity to get someone’s attention. And I saw a number of other small things come up in neighboring tables. It just seemed like the staff was a little overwhelmed or maybe they just needed more of them. It was a really fun, tasty experience that was dragged down at the end by about 30 minutes of staring at the wall. I hope they figure out the service side.

When chef Fang comes up to you and says he will select dishes for you and "leave it up to him" do you agree and run the risk of getting a bunch of dishes that weren't quite what you were looking for and possibly a much higher bill than you expected OR do you risk incurring his wrath and saying "no thanks I'd rather order my own" and then have to beg him to interpret the menu. The ambience of the restaurant is nice and it has a convenient location to Moscone users and nearby offices. But I think this is the dilemma faced by most newcomers to this restaurant. For me, it didn't work out and I won't come again. But the restaurant management really should examine this high risk and eccentric behaviour especially in a town that is not short of choice for good restaurants.

Atmosphere is ok, casual. Service was more of an order taker function than anything else. We started with the shredded pork egg rolls which were good. We also had pork dumplings with eggplant along with the dry wok shrimp with broccoli. Both pretty good but nothing more. A one timer for us.

We found this little place near our hotel through a website and decided to give it a go. We had 8 of us including 3 fussy kids and no booking, but the accommodated us all and reconfigured tables to fit everyone. They suggested we let them feed us and surprise us with a menu which would never have selected but everything was AMAZING!! We were even surprised at how reasonable the bill was, for such a fantastic meal and so much food. Highly recommend!

We went to Fang after watching the Rugby World Cup at AT&T Park. It had been a long day and we just wanted to get some good wholesome Chinese food before bed. Mr. Fang proposed to select for us and readily agreed! He put together an excellent selection and none of us were disappointed with his choices or the dishes themselves. Highly recommend you visit this friendly restaurant.

Not going back to Fang is an easy decision. First, the place seems none too clean; perhaps they are too busy during the day to take a few minutes and tidy things up, put on clean shirts and wqash the chop sticks. The house wine is dreadful. I ordered what the menu described as Fang's Signature Dish, the honey-chili short ribs. It was inedible with no trace of honey but a large taste of burned chili, I sent it back and they did not charge for it., My wife had the Mongolian beef tower, which was OK, but not too different from what I make at home. All in all a big disappointment.

This restaurant uses Chinese ingredients and takes it to another level. The dishes were delicious. We don't know the names because Mr. Fang ordered for us. You should let him order for you, just let him know if there are any particular items you don't eat. We went to other very nice and famous restaurants during our trip. (Ones that you have to reserve months in advance.) This one was our favorite and most memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will return next time we are in the Bay area.

I have been fortunate to visit SF a few times, but never was able to dine at Fangs, until today. After a long flight this was my first stop. Doors open at 11 = 2pm my mind/body time (east coast time for those who needed additional assistance :-). ). Much to my surprise it was boarded up. I was in utter dismay. I saw two what appeared to be worked enter through the boarded up doors. After a quick investigation they are OPEN , but board up the store front at night. I was honored and humbled to be served by Mr Peter Fang himself. After a small conversation, he told me HE would prepare some great choices for me. In the 5 course meal- chicken on bao bun, Chinese rib, clam soup with dumpling/wonton, pan fried shrimp wonton and a table side egg fried rice WAS AMAZING. GREAT FOOD Thank you Mr Fang for making my experience wonderful!

Well, my Sons and I were starving after all day at Haight ~ Ashbury & eveing at the SFMOMA, so we walked up the street to Fang. As we are trying to decide what to eat, this older Gentleman comes to our table to take our drinks order. He asks if we had been there before, we said no, first time. He says, " I am Fang" and takes our menus and asks if we have any food allergies then says, "I will bring you something special". In the next 45 mins or so, servers are bringing plate, after plate, after plate ~ 7 in all ~ of THE most amazing food anywhere ~ that Honey garlic shrimp was something not of this world, SO good! So much food my 3 Sons could barely finish it all, but they sure did love it all! We will be back, Mr. Fang, thank you for such a great evening & story to tell!

Husband and I were going to try House of Nanking, but Fang was close to our hotel and recommended by the front desk. Mr. Fang took charge of ordering for us after asking permission and crafted our meal. It was a real treat. Instead of ordering our usual, we had Fang’s Peking buns (out of this world), creamy wonton soup, pan fried shrimp dumplings, dry wok cauliflower with shrimp and beef and the house special, fried rice. With the exception of the dumplings, it was all fantastic. Thank you!

Large portions. Excellent menu. Moderate prices. Great flavors. So, what’s not to love? Gristle. Bland presentation. Inattentive service. This restaurant could be exceptional, but it lacks attention to what makes a top dining experience. Quality begins without gristle in meals, attractive presentation and adequate service,

We sat down, looked over menu, pretty much decided what we wanted, then our waiter came and said "Do you trust me", and we said sure. He said you don't need menus, I know what you want. Well he was pretty close, everything g was great, but I think we probably ended up paying about $30 more for the 3 of us than we would have, but still it was fun being surprised.

The food here is worth the wait. Yes, the service is a bit slow but this is because it can be very busy. The food is excellent! Very flavorful! Tonight we had fried rice, Mongolian beef and a shrimp dish that was oh so good! IMO, it is worth the wait!

While the cuisine was excellent as well as the ambiance, the owner/order taker was totally unfriendly and seemingly in a foul mood. It was a birthday family dinner and it made us sad. If he was not up to it, he should have stayed home. We will try it again and if it happens anither time, we are done with Fang.

Memorable for being one of the worst restaurants. I rarely write reviews so please believe me when I write that the food is execrable. The wonton soup had little to do with a regular Wonton soup - fine if it offered something edible- but it was just a conglomeration or awful bits of everything and nothing. It wasn't fusion, it's confusion. The rest of the meal was similarly poor; but the food,. as disgusting as it might have been was still better than the service. We waited and waited to be waited on next to the dirty entrance desk. Eventually a grumpy man came and told us to wait our turn. The people who served us were even worse. We asked where the wine came from and we were grumpily told California before walking away. They slopped the inedible soup all over the table.. we could go on and on. And any dish that boasts" Famous" before its description ought to be discredited for this alone... but the Famous Sizzling Rice is now famous in our household for being the worst fried rice.

Best Dumpling soup in the city. Ginger Chicken and Chefs Special Prawns are out of this world! Amazing menu - a myriad of Cantonese flavors in every dish! Food Service is fast and family style platters are substantial enough to share. Bar and Beverage service menu are not the best here but both are available... we didn't come for the drinks we come for the CUISINE! Four Stars - easy... it's loud and busy on (Friday) weekends - great atmosphere...!

We had an early dinner on a Thursday..... 5:30 PM or so. The place was not full at all.... servers were not hugely attentive and we waited above average time for the order to be taken. Our entrees came after a longer than expected time and the appetizer arrived after we had finished the main dishes, so we were to full to enjoy it. The food was tasty, and the rating has more to do with the overall experience and the service itself than the quality of the meal.

We enjoyed a dinner at Fang, and found the food good, but not 5 star. Prices for San Fransisco were reasonable, and portions were large. We had fried rice, which was fried at the table. Unfortunately grease was splattering everywhere when the liquid was poured on top of the rice, including on my clothes and hands. Luckily I wasn’t burned, and was able to wash the stains out. We had several other dishes as well, all of which were good, but not great. Social distancing is not possible in this restaurant. The staff were good, and Kathy and Peter made a point of greeting their guests.

Fang is next door to the SF Museum of Modern Art so perfect to finish the museum and head to Fang. This was my second visit but my friend had eaten their several times. The food is more reasonable than the museum. We started with steamed dumplings, then house noodles with veggies and finally the grilled shrimp with green beens. Lots of shrimp on the plate. My friend did not care too much for the seasoning on the shrimp but I liked it. The food is clean and not greasy.

I went here for a late lunch as I was in the neighborhood, and heard that this establishment was operated by the Fang family, that operates the wonderful House of Nanking in San Francisco. I expected this restaurant to be as good, if not better. Wrong. While the decor is more upscale than the House of Nanking, the food was bland and the service average. I debated between three or four stars, but went with four as I was reasonably satisfied with my lunch. But in the future, I'll be back at House of Nanking.

We had dinner for a group of 9. Were seated on a round table and the manager cane over and said "I'll look after you and you'll get the best dishes". We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the waiters were great. It was a fantastic evening.

Went with owners recomendatons Short ribs spare ribs exc Fried rice presentation exx Menus were shabby and slow to clear plates and get check

There are many good Chinese near the downtown area. This is a great find, authentic and delicious. The Xiao long Bao was flavored with a touch of dark honey sauce and freshly made. There was a 25 minutes wait to steam this dish and worth the wait. The baby snow peas with minced garlic was a bit salty but flavorable. Plus the service was great and fast. I was there before 5 pm. There is a nice bar if you are into drinks.

This is the first review I have ever written specifically for a restaurant on TripAdvisor as I have only previously used this site for reviewing hotels but after visiting Fang Restaurant in San Francisco, I felt compelled to share my experience. My fiancée and I are huge fans of Chinese cuisine whether we are visiting restaurants on our travels from the UK or cooking it ourselves. When visiting San Francisco, and after much research, we decided on Fang Restaurant and what a fantastic decision it was! The décor of the restaurant was a charming blend of traditional and contemporary without being too overstated and the atmosphere was lively without being too hectic. All of the members of staff made us feel at home and did a fantastic job especially the man himself, Peter Fang. Peter and his daughter Kathy run the restaurant. We were very impressed how Peter (we didn’t meet Kathy on this occasion but have heard that she has the same approach) interacted with the guests. Peter was constantly moving from table to table, taking orders, making his own suggestions and checking on the customers. When the main owners/chefs of a restaurant have this degree of visibility, it is a very good sign as to the quality of the establishment and the food. We ordered the xiao long bao (delicious little soup dumplings) and panfried vegetarian dumplings as our appetizers. Service was quick and friendly and the appetizers where excellent in their own right whilst stoking the flames of our appetite for our main entrees. With regard to the entrees, Mr Fang is renowned for speaking with his customers about any likes and dislikes they may have before taking back the menu and tailoring an order to suit each person, especially with first timers. This is unusual but is absolutely part of the charm of this place and I would advise anybody to put their complete and utter faith in his judgment as the man is a culinary genius! My fiancée and I did just that and were rewarded with two spectacular dishes which we shared between us. We were served the sesame chicken which is a very popular dish served at the House of Nanking which is Fang’s sister restaurant and is run by Mrs Fang. The House of Nanking has been a staple in San Francisco for almost thirty years and Fang Restaurant is a more recent addition to the Fang Empire. The second entrée was a Fang’s signature consisting of crispy honey chili shortrib which came with the tastiest bok choy we have ever eaten. We were also served a large portion of rice and both entrees were simply magnificent. The shortrib and chicken melted in the mouth and the way that the food was prepared and seasoned was like nothing we have experienced. Everything felt very much like a fresh and original take on some of the classics with our taste buds being taken in some unexpectedly splendid directions. Even as I type these words, I don’t feel like they quite do it justice and I can feel the cravings starting again! The food was washed down with some Tsingtao and Chinese flowering tea. We are visiting Los Angeles in September and we actually tried to schedule a day trip to San Francisco so that we could treat ourselves again but unfortunately it wasn’t possible this time but, rest assured, we will be back! Thank you to Peter and Kathy for opening this wonderful restaurant. You have set a very high bar for our future restaurant experiences to live up to. If anybody reads this review and feels tempted, I would advise you to give in to those temptations and make a booking right away!

Place is very nice. We went there for gluten free dishes but they told us that only the rice is 100% gluten free. Overall we had a nice dinner with Asian dishes and final bill was quiet good. Suggested

What a great Chinese restaurant There was a group of 7 of us and we let the owner order for us and every item was so flavorful and delicious

What a great culinary experience. We decided to skip the menu and trusted Mr. Fang to pick for us. Half of our party were vegetarians and we let him know. Mr. Fang got out some of the most amazing asian food i tasted. The buns were amazing. Didn't realize there were so many great vegetarian options too. Food was delicious. The atmosphere very cozy and service warm. Loved it, can't wait to have Mr. Fang surprise us again.

We came here from the W hotel next door upon recommendation of the concierge, believing it was Nanking. It's confusing because the business cards at the front desk are for Nanking, but the staff shirts say Fang. Well, ok. Nice relaxed atmosphere, welcoming for families and groups. Friendly staff, efficient non-intrusive service. Strong recommend for the dumplings, artfully made, beautifully presented, and delicious. Other dishes were ample in size and more than enough to share. One puzzling contrast is the abject filth of the menus. The restaurant looks new and modern, with attention to design, however the menus are vile, worn and splotched with food suggesting that they've been in use since the 70s. I had to wash my hands after ordering. Yuck. We were seated by the door, and just above my companion's head was the light switch, with a broken partially missing plate and a layer of unspeakable grime, which I had to consciously try to not see for the duration of our meal. Management: little things like this make impressions on diners.

If ignorance and bad manners was a speciality, this place would win hands down. Rude staff made you feel like you were doing them a favour. Spoilt my 55th birthday. Avoid.

Everything about this restaurant is Five stars! The food was amazing and so the service!!! The atmosphere is pleasant. Every dish was an art piece and tasted great. The waiters are very knowledgeable. You have to come eat here at least once!!!

We ate here this evening and it was fantastic. We started with the chili sesame pork dumplings which were so tasty and marinated in a delicious sauce. For our main course we ordered the sesame chicken with sweet potato and the Fangs Chilli honey short ribs which was probably the best Chinese dish that I have ever tasted, it was sensational. The waiter who served us was so professional and attentive plus the Executive Chef came over to check that everything was good which you don’t often get in a restaurant in the UK. It’s a shame that we don’t have a Fangs restaurant in the UK as I would definitely be a frequent customer.

Great Chinese meal a short walk from our hotel was based on recent reviews. Loved what I ate.....fava bean salad, dumplings, short ribs and fish. Tasty meal, service efficient and definitely not the typical Chinatown preparations. Would recommend with thumbs up.

Our dinner was amazing. All the dishes were recommended by the staff and seemed off menu. It was a delicious surprise that we look forward to again.

We went to dinner here two times this week because we enjoyed the food and it was next door to our hotel, which has a limited selection of walkable restaurants. The food is good, portion sizes are large. However, the overall dining experience of Fang is diminished by the lack of service. The space is crowded, tables are small, and service is spotty. The pacing is uneven. The first night our soup and entrees all came out at the same time which crowded the table and barely left room for drinks. The second night, we had an appetizer but then waited a long time for our entree. Nobody checked on our food and the check was dropped off at the table without asking if we wanted anything else. Clearly understaffed with management issues.

Thoroughly enjoyed the flavors at Fang. While the initial impression was chaos with getting served which made the initial impression a little uneasy because drinks arrived randomly. The table was also urged to order family style, which wasn't everyone's choice. Ultimately it was the best decision. The home made wong ton soup had a definite Thai twist and was out of this world!!!l White fish and spinach with coffee flavor, noodles, duck on a bun (Chinese steamed bread) was very tasty, Chicken, Beef with Chocolate ... all delicious!!!!!

This is our second visit and each time we let the chef, choose our menu. We have not been disappointed yet. Last night our meal for 3 people consisted of garlic fava beans to start, a mushroom dish, Peking duck, salmon with asparagus and pineapple, as well as Fangs honey short ribs. Portions were perfect and my husband who does not like mushrooms and bokchoy loved both. The ambiance was cheerful and the staff very attentive. Highly recommend giving this place a try. We will definitely return when in town again. Plenty of vegetarian options ad well.

A busy rainy Saturday night. Other reviewers comments about old and torn menus are correct. Wine list is a puzzle of crossouts and hand written price changes. Fortunately we don’t eat or drink the menu or wine list. Everything we had was good- but not at all as we requested. We requested not spicy and no garlic for each of the dishes. Definitely did not come out as requested- but still good. Disappointed in the $20 wonton soup. Very few wontons. Fish was good but had a hot spice kick. Eggplant and string beans good- but low on eggplant and lots of garlic. All that said- convenient to my hotel and I would return.

You have to go with the flow here. Place is a bit hectic and busy but they’ll make sure to seat you as fast as possible. If you are in a group the “chef” might offer you to pick the dishes for you, just go with it. We enjoyed our dinner and while it was the classic Chinese restaurant cooking, it was still fun. Great experience.

I came here a few years ago on a concierge recommendation. In town now for a few days. No letdown. Crispy short ribs, bao and sesame chicken are amazing. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a great meal.

Excellent food, great plates. For sure I go back next time I’m in town. Great service and suggestions from the owner.

As pointed out in other reviews, the short ribs are quite tasty and deliciously tender. Definitely recommended. Other than that, the service was okay but not too attentive. I also enjoyed the steamed seafood pot (appetizer)

I had the homemade noodles with chicken. It was overly sauced the noodles were quite good but the sauce was too much. Additionally I sat at the bar and took about 10 min or more to even be acknowledged

We were a group of 14 people. We had our own room. The food was delicious and plentiful. Maybe it was a bit dusty in the corners but we really didn’t care because the food was so good! I would recommend this restaurant.

We walked over for lunch while at Moscone center for a conference. The restaurant was really busy but we got seated right away. We had the steamed pork dumplings (6) as a starter, very tasty! The sizzling rice soup was one of the best I've had in a while, we ordered a medium and it was plenty big for 2-3 people. For the entree, we split the Basil Chicken and it was very large portion, enough for 2-3 people as well. Overall a very good lunch, for $53, with only one soda.

lovely Mr. Fang learned it was our first visit and took away our menus. He selected many wonderful dishes for our party of 7 including one vegetarian. We each had a different favorite, including the crispy rice with duck, apple and tomato; the noodles with little neck clams and duck; the snow pea tempura; the prawn and apple; the short rib. excellent cocktails as well. handsome decor and lighting with blue ceramic vessels and red soft-glow lighting. beautiful dinnerware with blue and gold dragon designs.

As soon as we sat down on our table, the owner approached us and offered to order for us. We were so impress with everything he ordered. Just to name a few, we loved the wonton soup with special soup base, the pork bun, pork belly with pumpkin and stir fry beef cube. The service was okay but you will not expect much from any authentic Chinese restaurant. We will definitely go back again. Thank you.

Found Fangs on the Chinese restaurant near me list when we were out walking Market street,,,, it was closer than Chinatown and we were hungry so tried it out... wow, had a wonderful meal, pot stickers, sesame chicken and crispy dark meat chicken with garlic and chili sauce, great service and great food, so glad to have such a delicious meal close by

Once we got to sit to our table, everything was good. We chatted with the owner in both Madrain and Cantonese, and were well taken care of. However, everything before getting to the table was confusing. We made reservations one day before but it seems they did not reserve a table for us and we still had to queue and wait. While we were waiting, it was clear that they also provide lunch pick-up through some app. There was no clear signboard or way to manage both queues, causing a whole lot confusion for the customers.

Third place had been recommend to me by a friend and I’m pretty satisfied ! It’s a good Chinese restaurant with an interesting cocktail menu. I took a litchi with gin drink that was lovely. Super central, the location is great.

The food was very good, and most of the dishes we had were not typical Chinese food smothered in sauce. I particularly liked the pork ribs. You can get brown rice, which I prefer.

Great and abounding food in a fair price , besides MoMa San Francisco. Very tasteful Asian recipes , the Ribs are from another world , plenty of veggies too!!

Don’t dismiss this restaurant because you don’t see the usual Chinese dishes you are used to!! Everything we ate was delicious! Everything is so unique and so creative. Amazing flavor combos. Each dish they brought was our favorite. In the end we couldn’t just pick one. It was all that good! We had the shrimp buns, sesame chicken with sweet potato, short ribs, cucumber salad, fried rice cooked table side, pork dumplings and shrimp dumplings. Would recommend all of it. We ate here 3 days ago and I’m still thinking about it. I wish we lived closer!

Don't be put off by the modern exterior! This was a great find and well worth the visit. We were told by Fang that as we had never been before, he'd look after us!! OMG!How much would it cost?? Far from disappointed or overcharged, the food was swift, fresh and delicious, especially the special egg fried rice cooked at your table! A really clever touch and made it a memorable meal!

Great food in a warm, inviting and festive environment, Fang is perfect for a large group of friends or colleagues. We had a great time and left with full bellies

I remember going to Fang a few years back and being less than impressed. A couple of days ago I saw a lunch menu online and, because the prices looked so reasonable, thought it might be good to give it another try. You can also look on their website where it shows a lunch menu, but it gives no prices. I'm not a fan of websites that don't show any prices; if I am in the mood for a mystery I'll read a book. When I got there I asked for the lunch menu and was told that it was the same menu as dinner. I wasn't thrilled, but I was already there and was going to spend the afternoon at SFMOMA, which is right next door. I ordered the duck Peking buns (4) and steamed pea sprouts. I have to make clear these were not Peking duck buns, but the menu did not represent the duck as Peking duck. It was what is normally listed as roast duck. The portion of duck was very good, and most pieces were moist. Some, however, were quite dry, and a noticeable but not strong "been sitting in the refrigerator" taste. (I've tasted much stronger). The buns were very fresh tasting, and there were some very nice pickled vegetables. There was also a strange beige sauce which was inoffensive and added nothing. I prefer the more common hoisin. The large portion (side dish!) of pea sprouts came with edamame, which was not shown on the menu. Pea sprouts are delicious and not found everywhere. Edamame is, however, and adds nothing to the pea sprouts, which were extremely fresh and tasty. I didn't care for the garlic, which, based upon how it was chopped and the color, was clearly the kind that comes out of a jar. At least it was fully cooked and didn't overpower the sprouts. I didn't have tea because I have a thing about paying for tea in a Chinese restaurant. The service was perfunctory but not poor. The decor was very tired. It reminded me of a strip mall Chinese restaurant that's been around for quite a while. I'm sure it was quite nice when it was new, but no more. The chairs were all scratched and gouged; the upholstery was heavily stained and spotted throughout the restaurant. The table was a bit sticky and the soffit above the kitchen was thickly coated with brown grease. Not very appetizing. The clear glass bottles for the ice water had a brown cast that was possibly related to the cloudy coating on the outside. Again, they weren't amber glass and the bottoms were quite a bit clearer. I know I've devoted quite a bit of text to the decor, but cleanliness and maintenance factor in to my enjoyment of a place. If this had indeed been in a strip mall, I would not have been as surprised by this appearance as I was at this supposedly upscale Chinese restaurant downtown. The prices were high for the quality of food. I was glad they didn't charge me $2.00 for my rice bowl as was shown on the menu. Overall, there were some parts of the meal that were very good, but others not so good. Many reviewers here have raved. I don't understand it, but we all have different ideas of a good meal. My review of the food is subjective. Do not, however, pay any attention to these reviews that talk about upscale decor and ambience. In fact, it's very tired and worn. I would definitely not return.

This is such a hard place to review! The service was pretty decent so things started well but from there it went downhill. We ordered a starter each and a main course; on top we ordered the ‘cook at the table’ rice. All the food showed at the same time which was just annoying - except the rice! They thoughts we would like to clear the table first. The pork pot stickers and egg rolls were frankly not edible. They were covered in yellow sauce that I am certain was like a French’s mustard and it was flat out nasty. It tasted like doughy lumps of mess in vinegar. The mains were actually quite tasty for the most part. The rice however has to be seen to believed. The epitome of pointless style over substance. Rice in a moulder shape on a sizzle plate where they cook the egg in front of you. Then it’s mixed and left. Within 3 minutes you have black burnt rice that’s gone solid. All in all it’s a shame Kitchen Nightmares isn’t around anymore because this was a nightmare of epic proportions!

Just what we had anticipated for our one dinner in San Francisco happened. In the guiding hands of the owner, we experienced the great tastes they offered. Shrimp and pork dumplings, white fish, short ribs and an unbelievable plate of seasoned fava beans. Waiters were efficient but not overly impressive. Great spot. Not too costly either

Had lunch there yesterday. Walked in, was seated, handed a menu but before we could decided what we wanted the owner, Peter Fang, came to our table, smiled and said he would order for us. OMG what a treat!! I never would have chosen the dishes he did. The tastes were amazing, the eggplant was fabulous and the fried rice was prepared at the table mixed with scrambled eggs. The fish melted in your mouth. All I can say is "GO".

Peter Fang creates House of Nanking and then over 20 years later opened Fang. Same food. Delicious and not greasy or full of gmo Chinese food. The sesame Chicken is my favorite! They have full tea flowers in your cup if you order hot tea! Peter Fang came to our table once we sat down, said hello ( did not mention he is THE Peter Fang) took our menus and had food sent to our table after asking if there are any allergies/sensitivities/ etc. so much fun! Delicious. I brought my friend here and she said it is the best Chinese she’s ever had. Wayyyyyy less crowded than House of Nanking ( usually a line outside and down the block). Good service. Will definitely continue to bring visitors here :)

Hello diners. This is not so much a review than a warning. This was worst dining experience I have ever had. Bad food. No hospitality, instead hostility. Here’s what happened: The waiter (an older gentleman) suggested we didn’t need the menu but to let him choose our dishes. When we asked what he had in mind, he retorted what’s the matter, you don’t trust me? When we replied we would be happy to hear his suggestions, he became sarcastic. One of the women in our group who is quite attractive bore the brunt of his bad manners. We decided to order from the menu. What arrived on our table was carelessly cooked: meat was fried to a blackened crisp, the vegetables barely cooked. Another small dish of greasy vegetables was $17. The menus were in tatters and there were messy stacks of napkins and other supplies in plain sight. The place had seen better days but was now dingy. We should have left when we saw the grungy menus (bad sign!) but it some of us had a plane to catch. Don’t waste your money or time at this place masquerading as fine Chinese dining. It is the opposite of what their website proclaims.

We spent the day at SFMOMA and took a break from the Modern Art to walk around the corner for a meal at this excellent contemporary Chinese restaurant. It is obviously very popular with professional people working in the locale. We ate from the set menu and both of us enjoyed our food. The ambience was good and the service was quite efficient. Not cheap but high quality and clearly everything was fresh.

Staying just south of Chinatown, we thought a Chinese meal would be nice. Asking our hotel front desk staff, they said do you want something "touristy" or local, we chose local and they suggested Fang's on Howard St. only a few blocks away. We arrived to a very busy restaurant, and after a short delay were shown to our seats and ordered drinks while we looked through the menu. We were then joined by Mr Fang, who asked us if we had visited before and if we had any dietary requirements (our daughter is vegetarian), he then suggested we take his recommendations and took the menus away. We were then delighted with a range of dishes of excellent food that arrived at our table, including a Pumpkin and Potato dish, House Noodles, Sesame Chicken, and my wife's favorite Prawns with Apple. Recommendations: Make a reservation, as this place gets busy, and trust in Fang.

The food was good, but not great. It is suitable for takeout but not dining. Every time I asked for something, the waiter acted like I was inconveniencing him. We didn't ask that many questions or make many requests. When I started to ask my first question, about a menu item, the waiter curtly answered and walked away. We still needed a bit of help, it was our first time there. Our food was practically thrown on the table. Worse service I've had in years.

We chose Fang to celebrate our son’s high school graduation because he loves Chinese food and we wanted him to have the best. We had a 5:30 PM reservation and arrived right before Fang opened. We were the first customers through the door. We weren’t greeted, though, just led to a table near the front window and given menus. Twenty minutes later, no one had even taken our drink order. The tables all around us, however, had drinks and appetizers. I finally caught the attention of one of the servers. She took our drink order, but refused to take our food order. She disappeared, and 10 more minutes passed by unattended. I had to block a server with my arm to get his attention and note that, as the first clients of the evening, we should have been served before all the neighboring tables. He very grumpily took our order, although he didn’t bother to write it down. By this time, the tables around us already had their meals. Our food arrived but by bit. My Salt & Pepper Tofu came first, followed by my Radish & Carrot side dish. Our drinks finally arrived after that, 20 minutes after we placed our order and 40 minutes after we arrived. My son’s Nanking Sesame Tofu came shortly after, and then our Onion Cake appetizer… and the server took away my tofu platter, just as I was serving myself, without an explanation. The couple to the left of us caught that and asked, weren’t you just eating that??? Another server brought my food back out five minutes later, again without explanation… and she slammed our bill on the table. We were nowhere near done eating and I had not asked for the check. The server for the couple next to us did the same to them. All the other tables? Attentive servers checking back with the diners, refreshing drinks, etc. Even Mr. Fang was out, schmoozing with customers. And my son and I (and the couple)? Ignored. Not once did anyone check to see how we were enjoying our meal. Not once did anyone ask if wanted something else to eat or drink. Absolutely NO customer service at all. Which was very much needed. Our onion cake was absolutely inedible. It was one giant scallion with minimal cake. Neither of us could eat it. The couple next to us also had one that they left barely touched. Truly awful and we would have sent it back if a server had bothered to check with us. Also inedible was the Nanking Sesame Tofu. More specifically, the whopping FOUR pieces of tofu were five. The majority of the dish was rubbery, inedible sweet potato (we think). Nasty! The menu said NOTHING other than tofu. My son was so disappointed and so hungry that I ended up giving him my dish. I would have ordered again, but no one bothered to check with us. The couple next to us also had issues. The server brought out the wrong meal for the woman, and she also had to physically block a server to get some attention in order to explain that her order was wrong. I mention the couple next to us because they also had service issues and because the tables by the front window are so cramped together, we might as well have been seated at a communal table. Our elbows literally touched! When I paid — and for that, the server came quickly — not even a thank you or come again. Terrible service! We left after wishing the couple best of luck with their meal. My son was so adversely affected by how his graduation meal went that he was silent all the way back and went to bed without a word… until the early morning, when both he and I became violently ill and continued to be sick most of the day. The only food we ate in common was the food at Fang. Incidentally, my son and I are biracial; the couple next to us was Black. The rest of the diners were Chinese. Coincidence that the service we experienced was terrible? That’s for you to decide. We, however, will never return to Fang and will make sure everyone we know learns of our experience there.

Even though there was a big conference going on at Moscone, we were able to get a table by arriving a little early for dinner. While the dishes were a little staggered in coming out, the food was very tasty. Get the faves and you won't be disappointed. Sesame chicken, noodles, ribs. Reminds me a bit of House of Nanking.

And the pork dumplings are unbelievable with their mild chili sauce. Capped off with Chinese flower tea. Mr. Fang was very pleasant as our waiter, gave use some little coconut biscuits with our tea. Kathy Fang of chopped fame is displayed on her poster.

I went out of my way to go to this restaurant because the daughter of the owner competed on Chopped. I thought it would be fun. . . . wrong. The menu was limited, the dishes greasy, and - in short - it was disappointing.

I was part of a large group that visited Fang. We had more people than we'd made reservations for, but they quickly made arrangements for us. We were having a hard time deciding what to order for such a large group. The chef asked if we trusted him. We told him about a couple of vegetarians in the group and a food allergy. He sent out dish after dish of amazing food that we all shared, many of which are not on the menu. I liked it so much, I went back and requested the Japanese fava beans. They're not on the menu, but they made them for me anyway. Such a great place.

Worst restaurant experience ever. Made a reservation the night before. Arrived on time. Waited 30 minutes and still no sign of being seated. No one at the front reception to seat us. That person was waiting tables and working the bar. Wow! We learned that reservations are not honoured as it is a first come first served. People in front of us who also had a reservation were asked if they were willing to share someone else’s table. Finally gave up and went to House of Nanking where we were seated immediately and served within 5 minutes. Kathy can still learn from her father Peter as he has it figured out. Thanks for the great meal Peter!

I usually go to San Fran once a year for business, so decided to make another visit to Fang. Another awesome meal! Sticky buns with pork belly and duck were delicious as was the Fang Honey Chili short ribs. So so good. This is my third post over the years about Fang. Don’t miss out the next time you’re in San Fran. Head to Fang!

Visiting from out of town and enjoyed a delicious dinner that the chef/owner ordered for us. He asked if it was our first time visiting the restaurant and told us to trust him. We informed him of a shellfish allergy, which they accommodated. We enjoyed the whole meal (Peking buns with crispy chicken, dumplings, mushrooms, pumpkin salad, crispy honey chili short ribs, five spice white fish, crispy egg noodles) and appreciated that the chef/owner kept checking to make sure we were enjoying the food and that we had enough to eat. It was very busy and hectic at the restaurant, due to the Salesforce Conference. As long as you are flexible, you will enjoy he experience. One item for improvement, more smiles from the service people.

We came here for dinner, place was cramped and busy as expected. Fried rice was drowned in soy sauce and was inedible. The wonton soup was awful and my colleague and I ended up feeling horrible after. Don't be fooled by the nice smells that waft out of here

Tasty Cantonese place. Unassuming from the outside, right in downtown business area near convention center, lies this tasty place. Second floor, where my business dinner was, is rather pretty with Versace-esque plates. Staples such as buns and dumplings and ribs and beef and chicken were all delicious. Would definitely like to return to try a la carte but a pleasant experience

This was my second time dining at Fangs and just like the first it was outstanding. The food was excellent and Mr Fang helped make suggestions (the Bao Buns and Ribs) which were amazing. Both Mr Fang and Kathy visited the table making our visit even more special. I thought the fusion between new/old techniques made it an incredible experience. The staff were great as well. We will be back because it is rare to find a place that blends so many elements (taste, presentation, decor) so well. I don't think I've been to a restaurant in a long time that I enjoyed so much.

The place is very cramped with an attempt to seat as many people in as less space as possible. The table we were seated at, had a table beyond, and every time people from that table had to move out or had to be served , or that table cleared, we would have to get up and make way. This spoiled the entire dining experience for us, and we couldn't enjoy our food. The food itself was mostly good. We tried the sesame chicken, honey coated prawns, fried rice

No one spoke to us the entire time there. The owner came to our table and just stared at us until we ordered from him. The appetizers and food came out together. The order was wrong and they did not want to change. The salt and pepper shrimp were good, but the short ribs looked like sheep pellets and tasted strange, and the sizzling rice had little flavor. When we didn’t eat all the appetizers the waiter(wordlessly) just put the rest right on our plate without asking. A huge disappointment and no celebrity chef to be found. A younger me would have walked out of here halfway through. Don’t waste your time here.

We came to san francisco from alberta canada for my fiance 50th birthday. Made reservations at fang because its all my fiance talked about doing there. When we walked in and let them know we had a reservation it didn't matter. We were sat and then rushed to make an order. We wanted to start with and appetizer then with our entree. We got our appetizer and not even a min after our entrees arrived and at a 2x3 table that couldn't hold our food so we had to scrap everything onto one plate to make room. Then before we were finished our meal they dropped the bill on our table and never asked if we wanted dessert. I asked for another drink, never came, just the lady with the pay terminal for us to pay and pretty much leave. To me it's just another fast food restaurant with no one having any respect enough to ask if the food was ok. Very very disappointed. Everywhere we wet in San Francisco was warming and welcoming this was the only place that disappointed us Would not recommend this place at all.

The food is served extremely quickly and is decent. If you are working nearby or at the museum this is an easy place to grab a quick lunch. The portions are large.

Slow to order but otherwise really great. Tofu, mush eggplant was amazing. Fragrant chicken Delicious. The Fang beef in bun appetizer is crispy beef in a soft mini pita like dough. Excellent.

First of all, we got "Fanged" which means, if you are new to this restaurant, the owner takes it upon himself to order for the table. I did not realize that this is what regularly happens to first time customers until I looked on TripAdvisor after the fact. We were promptly greeted by the owner and before we could open our menus, he took them from the table and implied to trust him with our order. What a treat! Not. He asked for food allergies, etc. and I emphatically explained that I was there for Dim Sum and my other sister was there for noodles and traditional Asian. So the food started coming out, like a conveyor belt, one dish after another, very prompt, but we hadn't even received our cocktails after the first two dishes of fried and fried. I do not regularly eat fried pork or beef at Asian restaurants, preferring noodles and dim sum but it was fair, two in our party of 4 liked it. Finally the dim sum, tasty but not as good as the more traditional offered in Chinatown. He was perplexed that I was not very happy with his food choices, one sister stating that sweet and sour was not her favorite in which he seemed totally stunned and surprised. He then left and never returned to our table, apparently tending to other new customers to get "Fanged". My sister and I observed 2 tables nearby who had groups of 4 and were Asian and they were ordering off the menu, they were eating bowls, soups, and the like. I felt like a target and this was confirmed when I got the bill. He had ordered double of every sampling for 4 women, the waitress asked if we wanted a "to go" box, but no, we are staying at a hotel! I complained which did no good, so I payed the bill & left with a sour (not sweet) taste in my mouth. As we were leaving, I told a group of tourists that were waiting for a table to say NO to getting "Fanged". It's a gimmick.

We have visited this restaurant many times now. Our first visit was a pleasant surprise. While having difficulty selecting from the menu, our waiter (who turned out to be the owner Peter Fang), asked if there were any food allergies and then took the menus and provided us with an amazing meal with a great selection of flavors and textures. From that time four years ago, Fang's is a definite stop when visiting San Francisco. We always choose the chef's selections and have enjoyed many delicious dishes. My only negative comment would be choice of wine. I enjoy a nice glass of red with dinner and I find their wine selection limited and served in tiny, thick glasses that I feel like could be found in a diner. Overall the décor had good intentions but I believe their focus has been on the food that will keep us coming back for more.

After seeing this restaurant on the show "Chef Dynasty" on the food network, I was very excited to dine here during my visit to SFO. I was happy when I got there to have met Peter Fang himself. However, after being sat I didn't appreciate him coming over and taking our menus away and choosing to order for us. We had no idea what was coning to the table. After waiting a while a curried rice chicken soup came to our table. It tasted mediocre and was overpowered by a bouilion cube taste. After this, a very bad tasting stuffed pancake dish came out. It was so heavy with spices, it was barely edible. At this point Perter Fang came over to see how everything was tasting. I told him that I hated the stuffed pancake and did not want it. He then appeared shocked and commented to me that everyone that he knows who is Indian liked it. I felt that I was being racially stereotyped as a brown person by his comment and by his choice of picking this off the menu for me. I then told him that I actually hate Indian food and love authentic Chinese food which is what I thought I would be getting at this restaurant. After this came the sesame chicken and fried rice. The chicken was very oily with no sesame seeds on it and the sweet potatoes were not fully cooked through. The most disappointing part of the course was the fried rice. It was not the authentic fried rice I was given and would have chosen if I was given the chance to. I really don't know how Kathy Fang and her father got a show on the food network. I am from Canada and our Chinese food there is 100% better than this place. I also felt like this is a scam that both Kathy and Peter Fang do this to customers to get them to spend more money. If it was up to me alone, I would have sent back everything that came to the table as it was all disappointing and I didn't order it. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Horrible experience! We were so excited to try Fang since we watched the tv show so we decided to make reservations on New Years day. When we got there, everything seemed great, they were able to sit us down right away since there were many tables open. While looking over the menu, one of the waitresses came to our table and just stood over me, she didn’t say a word, just stood there, which I thought was weird. I told her that this was our first time here and she just said “ok”. So we decided on trying a few things, 5 dishes to be exact. 4 of the dishes came out at a good time, which was great! The food looked pretty good but while I was scooping the first dish, I found a HAIR in my food!! I turned right around and tried to waive down a waitress. There was no one walking the floor for a good 6-7 minutes. Finally a waitress saw me waiving and I told her “there’s a hair in my food” so she took the plate back. I watched her to see what she would do and she just took the spoon and replaced it with another and tried to give it back to me, even with the hair still on the plate !!!! I said NO, I’m not taking this, there’s a hair in it! She said “oh ok” and brought it back again and threw it away, like she was suppose she to. Wow, that just blew my mind, trying to give me the same food! Finally got a new dish which looked fine. The last dish was the fried rice which we didn’t get yet and we were basically done with our food so I again had to waive down the waitress AGAIN. Mind you, NO waitress checked on us to see how the food was or if we needed anything! After waiving her down, I said, we’re still waiting for our fried rice, she had some white rice that she just put in a bowl, she said “oh your fried rice? You want this one?” What kind of service and restaurant is this? I said No, I want my fried rice. But still didn’t get my fried rice until 10 minutes later! Terrible, terrible service! Even after we were all done, I had to waive a waitress down for boxes. She eventually came with boxes and the tablet for the bill. After entering my info, it printed out a receipt. The waitress didn’t say a word to me, she just ripped the receipt and threw it on the table!! Even my wife was saying how rude that was!! I was pretty upset myself, so while walking out, she was at the register and I asked for her name, Kimmy, she said. I said Kimmy, that was a horrible experience we just had. The service was terrible! She said “oh me or everyone” I said you and everyone! Please read this before going to this restaurant. The food is just ok but more on the bland side and the service or better yet the lack of service needs an overhaul.

We fancied a Chinese but were the 'wrong' side of Market Street for Chinatown. We needn't have worried, Fang is the SoMa version of an established restaurant in Chinatown and has plenty of atmosphere, and great Chinese food. The service was impressive, very fast, even though the appetiser was served after one of the mains, but who was keeping tabs on details like that?!! The atmosphere was frenetic with a lively hubbub and did I mention the food?

Food was marginal and way too salty. Hard to eat. Service was non attentive. There are so many other places to eat in SF that are much better.

I was looking for a SOMA restaurant. Had heard of the Fang family so gave it a try. Very unassuming curb appeal with a simple sign. Almost missed it. Simple menu. So I tried the Nanking chicken. OMG. The depth of flavor in the chicken and sweet potatoes was amazing. I couldn’t stop eating. I was disappointed in the service however. Felt like they were almost annoyed with me. Surprised that a restaurant with this reputation would allow this lack in customer service. Def would order from there again. However will take it to go

I ate lunch here in conjunction with a conference at the convention center. The homemade noodles were delicious, but nothing else was special enough to warrant five stars.

We visited this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews which usually serve us well. To be honest, I wasn’t blown away by the food, environment or service. It served a purpose in that we all got fed. The steamed dumplings were probably the best thing we ate. To be honest I think what put me off was the food hygiene rating at the front desk and the dusty walls. Then we sat at our table, chipped formica.....a tablecloth would’ve been a huge improvement. Felt very like a backstreet cafe rather than a restaurant. I was gone by this point. I also felt the menu was a bit limited. I did have a nice glass of wine though! Overall, average rating. In my opinion doesn’t deserve anything more.

Flavourless and mediocre Chinese food. Only tourists seem to come and visit the place. Make the effort and find some better Chinese food in San Francisco!

Fang used to be a good place to dine but the last two visits were awful: bad service and salty food. The owner is surly and the wait staff could care less about serving food on time and clearing plates. There are better choices for Chinese cuisine in San Francisco. Totally disappointed with Fang and will never go back there.

Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff.. good menu choice.. we both went for curry, one veggie & the waiter was kind enough to ask if we want a slightly different sauce so we could share.. not that we were drinking, but we were never offered to order a drink.. (missed revenue opportunity)...

Party of 8 and one toddler. Loved lazy Susan table. Great sesame chicken. Soup was ok. Wonton better than sweet and sour. Mongolian beef great dish. Fried rice excellent. Chow mein was ok. Seasame balls for dessert were a little oily. Flowering tea was good. Server seemed annoyed by all our requests for soup bowls and forks and dishes. Def good food!

Very good Chinese food. My wife had Chowmein with cabbage onions and shrimp. I had the Chau Chau Chicken. Bothe dishes were good. The Chicken was better. Also had the Chile Sesame Pork Dumplings as an appetizer that was amazing. Nice place not far from Market Street and motels. Near Howard and Third.

Food was delicious. Service was a bit rushed at our table and did not spend much time asking about menu choices or offering recommendations. When the food came and we asked if rice was included as customary at most Asian restaurants, the server said only “no rice” and walked away, not asking if we would like to order Al a Carte which seems like how they handle that here. I’d go back for the food - but make sure you ask for rice if you want it!

Low key but inviting decor, just around the corner from St Regis hotel. Owner asked if we were first time visitors. When we said yes, he removed the menus and said he would take care of us. We weren't disappointed and ate a range of dishes we wouldn't necessarily have ordered. Sesame chicken is great as was the egg fried rice, cooked in front of us at the table. Reasonably priced, would recommend.

Place needs a good cleaning! Junk everywhere. The waitress and chef were yelling at each other! Food was good, but the atmosphere definitely was not what we expected at all! Kathy needs to be there more apparently!

I went for dinner on a friend’s recommendation. The dishes are quite unusual (in a good way) and certainly different to what you’d get in a similar restaurant in the UK. The service could stand a little improvement as dishes were brought out and stuck on my table with little regard for whether I’d finished the previous course. I also never got the rice I ordered, although that was probably best given the generous portion sizes. In summary, I would probably visit again!

So had our last evening in San Francisco at this restaurant. It’s a little shabby inside and it’s more cafe than restaurant but the prices were not extortionate, which most of San Francisco was. Drinks were moderately priced and service was really fast. We had ate somewhere else the previous evening and had duck buns. I would say that theirs were a little soggy which let the meal down but overall everything else we ordered was super tasty. Staff were very accommodating and were fine with some alterations the only thing I would say that they could improve on is the sogginess of the duck buns and a paint job.

We had dumplings ,soup and salad. Excellent. The people around us ordered a variety of dishes that looked a smelled great.highly recommend if you like Chinese food and especially if you are in the convention center area.

Really good food and very reasonable. Server suggested several dishes and family style for the group of 6. Mongolian beef and seasome chicken over the top.

Hi, Looking for a place within walking distance of the beautiful Clift Hotel and read the reviews about thing that would give it a try before the play we were seeing at 7:30. We had a reservation at 5 o’clock via open table, absolutely unnecessary as we were two of three people in the restaurant. They Never asked for name simply seated us at a window table. A couple of the water glasses were dirty so we swapped them out with clean ones on our table. The server came over with filthy, torn up menus. Took a drink order. I had flowering herbal tea which was the highlight of the meal, if that says anything. We only had water, which was served in a carafe style glass jar at room temperature, no ice. Our server asked us to order three times within five minutes, We finally ordered three different appetizers which were brought out as they were cooked. The panfried pork dumplings were overcooked and hard & lacking in the sweet chili mustard sauce, the pork egg rolls were just that, overfried pieces of shredded pork wrapped in rice paper drizzled with sweet chili mustard sauce, very greasy. Horrible. The third appetizer was a minced shrimp, ginger garlic/soy potstickers/dumpling thing. Again overcooked, lacking sauce and flavor. It was pretty much a pinwheel of dough with a couple baby shrimp inside. Again the server came over to more times to ask us if we were ready to order...mind you it is now only 5:10 PM. We’ve been in the restaurant 15 minutes. We finally ordered and choose something to save thinking they probably wouldn’t grew up chicken fried rice and the description sounded very good. Server suggested we just get one order and share it. I asked her to make it a little spicy since everything was very bland that we had had so far. I also asked for soy sauce when this was served, which came in the most disgusting glass decanter that I could not even use it. The fried rice add an ok “could make at home” flavor and tasted nothing like I expected. very unusual for fried rice. Again Bland, Definitely no spice/heat added to it as requested. Once we had all the food the server was not very tentative and we sat with empty water glasses for a few minutes until we flagged her down asking for another carafe. Because we have been flying all day from Florida, we were very hungry and we also were limited on time because of commitment To see a play so we stayed there and ate. Didn’t complain about the food and tipped generously. The icing on the cake is when both of us had terrible stomach cramps within 30 to 45 minutes of eating and we’re unable to stay for the second half of the play due to severe unexpected “bathroom” issues, sorry if this is TMI!!! Thank you. I greatly appreciate this website but I think I will ask the concierge where to go rather than rely on this for the rest of the weekend.

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge and it didn’t disappoint! He warned us in advance that we might get ‘Fanged’ which is when the owner picks what you eat and this is exactly what happened. After carefully studying the menu, our group of 6 decided on which family style meals we would share. Well we never given a chance to order. Instead, one fabulous dish after the next was brought to the table. Several of these dishes were gluten free to accommodate an individual in our group. I’d like to add that this was a group of teachers who like control so letting Fang pick the meals he served was an anxiety provoking yet a fun/freeing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

This was my first visit to Fang and I selected it because it was walking distance to my hotel. What I didn’t know was that there were far more reasons to select it than the location. The menu was authentic and offered an ample number of offerings to please anyone’s pallet and dietary restrictions. We were having trouble making up our minds until the chef came over to our table and offered to order for us. He asked us what we liked and if we had any dietary restrictions. What we received was absolutely amazing! Just the right amount and variety of dishes. The spices and flavors were impressive as I have never had eggplant and other vegetables prepared in such a way. The shrimp dish was amazing as well. Thanks to the chef for making our visit to Fang amazing. If you’re wondering, the cost was more than reasonable. When I visit San Francisco again, this will be my first stop!

I have eaten Chinese food all over the world and without exception this was the worst I have ever tasted, coupled with indifferent service , even the rice was cold .very poor

My wife and I visited Fang on a busy Friday night. The service was excellent and the food was remarkably different from the usual Chinese menu. The ingredients were fresh and the flavorings were light and non greasy. Complex spices enhance the short ribs and the apple shrimp were perfectly cooked. This is a place to visit if you enjoy Chinese food but are tired of the deep fryer and grease. Make it a point to go here next time you are in San Francisco and enjoy the difference.

Fang struck us as an ok, workmanlike Chinese restaurant. Not bad, not great, ok lunch but hardly the place described in many if the reviews. The menus were old and scruffed up and so were the choices: limited and pedestrian. Bok choy cold salad was good; soup dumplings were just ok, hardly star quality; homemade noodles weren't homemade; and the apple crispy prawns were .... meh. Yes, it was an ok lunch for the price. No, don't go out of your way to eat there. Service was fine.

I've traveled the world and have grown up with Asian food. Hands down the best modern Chinese food I've ever had! Peter (charming older owner/dad/chef) ordered for us and his choices were all excellent. Kathy (smoken hot owner/daughter/chef) chatted with us and made sure our experience was wonderful. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was the front entrance/desk and hallways to bathrooms were visibly dirty and treated like storage; it looked really bad :(

First, don't expect to see a restaurant like you see on the tv show if you're watching. Most of those pictures are staged and take place upstairs. You will be disappointed if that is your expectation. This restaurant has a plan - and they pretty much stick with it unless you speak up. You get seated, wait forever for drinks, Dad comes over, looks over your group and says "I'll order for you". Some people like it, some people don't. Depending on the size of your party - you will probably hit all the highlights if there are 4 - 6 of you. If there is something specific you want on the menu - be sure to mention it. Your food is then brought by whatever server is available when your food is ready. I've seen many comments how the fried rice comes at the end and seems like an afterthought but that appears to be their process. I also understand about the "family style" ordering by the owner. Cuts down on time preparing dishes if 50%+ of the restaurant is eating the same thing. Food overall is good to great. My only complaint would be the soup was cold. Most of our party was from out of town so they enjoyed the process. For me, since we have so many great Asian restaurants of different flavors available to us, it would not be my first choice to go back to. But a fun time was had by all once they got a drink.

We were delighted with our dinner at Fang! While we were still perusing the menu, Peter Fang wandered by & suggested we close our menus & he would take care of us... Everything was delicious & certainly not items we would normally order. Creamy corn & prawn wonton soup was perfect for a rainy night...pork belly buns...edamem salad...salt & pepper pumpkin & prawns... We'll definitely return when we're back in the city! Great options for vegans too.

We were fitted in to a tight table for 2. As soon as we sat down a waiter came over with a pad over me and said nothing, not a word. I said we weren’t ready and he walked off. The food was very good. The duck bun while only 2 small buns and expensive was delicious. The table side fried rice was ok. I would expect more in it than just the rice and oil. There were no veggies or anything. The chicken dish was also very good. The service was lousy and rude. Our server flat out disappeared as we waited forever for our check.

Directed to this restaurant by concierge at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. It was great. As first visit we had the owner, Mr. Fang make recommendations. We had roasted duck appetizer, shrimp with sautéed mushrooms and boneless short rib beef. Yum.

Unusual, delicious Chinese food. Mr Fang found our group looking at the menu, took it away form us and said that he would choose for us and bring us the best food. This clearly works well for them as a restaurant on an extremely busy Saturday night as he did that to the entire room and then brought the same food out to every table. But it also worked well for us as the food really was delicious and we tried lots of things that we would not otherwise have chosen. Lots of really exquisite vegetable dishes and it was a far cry from the normal sweet and sour Chinese meal. The beef was amazing too. Some of it was very rich but it was all good. We were downstairs and the atmosphere wasn't great but I suspect upstairs would have been better. Definitely worth a visit for unusual and very delicious food.

After opening his edge of Chinatown House of Nanking restaurant to rave reviews (my parents ate there and noticed Steven Spielberg and George Lucas a couple of tables away), Fang decided to open a more upscale version of this restaurant in SOMA. The food is luxurious and shaped by what vegetables are fresh at the market. Catch Fang or his chef daughter and ask them to pick out your dishes.

We were enthused to try Fang after receiving a recommendation from the Ritz Carlton Concierge. We were seated near the cash register / hostess stand. It was difficult for us to avoid glancing at the filthy switch plate on the pillar next to our table. A gentleman came to take our order so we inquired about the Mongolian Beef Tower. He said, "It is just ok" After hearing that we decided to order the House Noodles. One with chicken and the other with beef. The chicken with noodles was inedible - way too salty for my tastes. The beef with noodles seemed to be less salty. We were bummed this visit didn't work for us. Some of the other tables had meals that looked appealing.

We were happy to find this Chinese restaurant near our hotel. The owner had us try a beef dish that was unusual and delicious. (I wish I could remember the name.) the standard dishes were also quite good (sesame chicken, and an eggplant dish) but the pork dumplings were very doughy and the chicken fried rice didn't have much taste. The service was a little inconsistent as it got busier. Overall, would recommend this venue for good casual dinner.

The concierge recommended this Asian restaurant and we held off until the last night as we had so many options. The owner came over to the table and I mentioned that I had seen his daughter win Chopped on television. He asked if we had ever been in and we said no. He took our menus and said “I will handle.” Dishes started coming out of the kitchen. Each one better than the last. The food was absolutely delicious! It’s busy so make a reservation.

Fantastic new restaurant near Union Square. We had a private party. The food was exceptional served family style on Susan’s in a cute old building. We had a shellfish soup, and some lovely fried dumplings. The broccoli cooked with mustard sauce was exceptional. The beef dish was perfectly cooked. The chef/owner was also very personable.

You're better off going to China Town and eat Chinese food there. This restaurant is okay when it comes to food but bad when it comes to service.

The person who was taking the order, started ordering the items without asking us. He just asked how many veg and non veg. Then started ordering what ever he wanted. He ordered sea food, fish which many people from our group dont like. We go to a resturant to order items as per your own likings, how can you bring food without asking us. NOT RECOMMEDED AT ALL. Please avoid going here.

We attended here for dinner at the recommendation of the hotel and it was very good. We were sat looking at the menu when the owner introduced himself and asked I we were eating as a family. He then choose the dishes for us and it was fabulous. Every dish was something I wouldn't have chosen but every dish was enjoyed by all. It was fresh and tasted great. I would recommend to anyone and if in doubt trust the owner.

We were planning to visit The House of Nanking have had an excellent meal there on a previous visit to SF. However a local recommended the newer Fang, and that Peter the owner would look after us. We arrived to a queue waiting outside (good sign), despite the queue we managed to get a table fairly quickly. Ordered two starters first to arrive was the Fried pork potstickers, tasty but I would have preferred the honey mustard dressing as a dip rather than drizzled over the crispy dumpling but that’s personal taste. Then things went down hill fast, our second starter Fried pork Confit egg-rolls arrived (again very tasty but tiny portion) with our first main The Famous Nanking sesame chicken. No problem with food being served when it’s ready but at least Inform the customer that’s how the food is served. The sesame chicken with sweet potato arrived with not a single piece of sweet potato but loads of aubergine (not a mention of this on on the menu and my partner would not have ordered as she is not keen on aubergine).Waited for 5 mins with one main before any rice arrived. Followed a bit later by our second main sautéed pork belly. However our waiter put down the dish and informed us “ the kitchen is out of pork belly so you have pork meatballs”. A pile of minced pork and zucchini didn’t look or taste great so we sent it back. Our waiter asked if we would like to order something else, however the fang-tastic feeling had long gone so we declined. We then watched the waiter take the plate of food that we had tried back to the hot plate, then another waiter take the plate of food to the table next to us. The other table either not knowing what the food was or not happy with dish complained to the waiter. At this point the now infamous “peter the owner” showed up, seen what was going on and proceeded to have a shouting match with the kitchen staff(open plan kitchen in full view). We watched for a while as Peter prowled the restaurant in his hoodie jumping between being the head waiter taking orders and angrily clapping to get staffs attention rudely pointing at jobs for them too do. Disgusted even more with his behaviour than the poor food we hastily paid our bill and left. Don’t leave your general reply saying you hope we give you a chance to show you are 5 star as we won’t be back!!!!

Everything that is served at Fang is a surprise. They have a dish labeled beef short ribs that is NOT your usual hunk of stringy (but delicious) meet sitting on a puree of root vegetables. Rather, it is small pieces of meat that taste like they are candied, I think they use ginger. Our party of six ordered a second round after devouring the first plate!

When our server came over to our group of 8 - we told him to just feed us. They brought us their A-game. The giant lazy susan that was the table was kept full. The mushroom with beef was my favorite dish. Hands down, this was our best meal in San Fran.

This restaurant has consistently good foods, and usually somewhat more original than you would expect. If you are in the area and can get a table, I would recommend it.

We had dinner at Fang , easily accessible at Howard Street , San Francisco. The restaurant was well patronized and our group of 20 persons were in a nice private dining room in the basement . The food was excellent - traditional but with a creative touch to make it interesting. We liked the tempura style snow peas, stuffed pork buns, big mushrooms ,xiao loong dumplings , tofu with vegetables , prawns , Mongolian beef, noodles with clams, sweet sesame balls. The price was reasonable - we paid $40 per head for food , 2 bottles of Californian wine , and several cups of flower tea.

This is great Chinese food in a casual setting with reasonable prices. A variety of dishes available. The owner Peter Fang or his daughter, Kathy are great resources for helping you plan dishes for your particular needs. Around the corner is the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art which you can visit before or after your meal. All the Moscone Convention Center is only a block away.

We ordered potstickers and egg rolls for starters. Our waiter, who I think was Mr. Fang (whose daughter owns the place) told us "no" to the egg rolls and talked us into the pork belly bao buns. He made the right choice for us because both apps were great. The food is definitely not typical Chinese food and had a little curry taste to it. After the appetizers, we split the sizzling rice dish that they put together tableside. The presentation was nice, but I thought the taste of this dish was just average. My only complaint is the restaurant had a very strong fried food smell, like years and years of frying in old oil. Not a deal breaker, but slightly annoying.

Food was ok as far as presentation concern. Most of dishes we ordered were too greasy or too salty. We ordered the clams in steamed eggs. The plate was huge and wormed up with a candle burner, which made a good presentation but it was covered with soy sauce like dark sauce and it was salty. A tourist couple at next table started conversation with us because they saw that huge impressive plate. Later on they told us that the food they ordered also greasy and salty and that they couldn't finish them. This review is not much about their food is about the gloves. One would think servers wear gloves is a good thing. But not like what they do with them. I observed the whole time I was there for dinner. No one changed their gloves. They wore the same gloves to do everything including cleaning the tables, bringing dirty dishes, taking bills and bringing food to the tables. Wearing gloves was to protect their hands not for sensitizing. If they could feel their hands dirty, they may wash them. But with the gloves on their hands they couldn't feel the dirty so they keep on using the same gloves over and over. I saw their gloves soiled with previous dirty dishes. When they brought food to my next table the gloves put an imprint on the clean dish. If they see this review and change gloves practice the restaurant may be worth to try. At this point I would not recommend it and I would not go back.

Have eaten at lots of Chinese restaurants over the years but have never had the egg in the fried rice cooked at table. The scrambled egg is mixed into the hot rice so is cooked by the rice and the hot skillet. Overall food was above average. Service was OK. Decor is dated.

We had a very nice meal here. It wasn't very busy on a Sunday night and we ate early. We saw tasty looking food on tables either side of us, and we weren't sure what to order, we both like Chinese and were just looking at the menu and the server suggested doing a tasting menu. So we did! She told us how much it was, and we thought it sounded very reasonable. We had no idea what they'd bring - a slight gamble, but it paid off. No idea if they do different things each time. They kept bringing over food and everyone kept looking at us jealously! We liked everything they served and were very happy with her suggestion. We thought for the amount of food delivered it really was very reasonably priced. Perfect with the two of us, we tried far more dishes than we would have, if we'd selected larger dishes. Service was friendly and efficient the night we went, and overall we had a great experience. I would eat there again on a future trip to San Francisco. It was very close to the Convention Center, Marriott and Intercontinental.

We visited Fang’s a little more than 10 years ago. Chef Fang made our evening very special all those years ago. So, we stopped in this evening and had another wonderful meal! Crispy fish, pork belly buns were yummy! And Chef Fang was there again! Definitely recommend!

Light and fresh Chinese food without all the goopy sugary sauces that so many places use. Noodle with perfectly cooked Tofu, seared green beans, blackened eggplant. You locals are spoiled.

Restaurant write ups we'd read had this restaurant as one of the "best" in San Francisco. Their website looked attractive. Prices seemed reasonable. So we decided to try. The food was a huge disappointment. The pork belly was dry and chewy. The vegetable noodles was literally just noodles and one vegetable (cabbage). They forgot to cook/serve one item we'd ordered but was still on the bill. Chinese food we've had in some of the food courts in Sydney are far superior.

Made reservation on open table, ordered Dim Sum (even though we didn’t see it listed on the menu). We were served four delicious appetizers and the service was fantastic. The owner personally made a few visits to our table, once to take our order, once to check on how we liked our food and lastly we asked for some house fried rice- he asked “you still hungry?” I said just a little to which he said “no fried rice, I got something” and walked away. It was quite comical. Another dish appeared which was delicious, don’t recall what it was called but had shrimp & chicken with rice cakes. The last dish was not charged on our bill. Overall five stars, was a great experience just blocks from the heart of China Town.
Excellent, flavorful dishes
The food here is so delicious. Chef Fang can make wonderful recommendations, or just leave it up to him and he will order the best meal for you. Combination of flavors is unexpectedly delicious. What a great meal experience
