Birthday Meal

Excellent food... Served so beautifully and tasted yummy 😋 not the cheapest place to eat but definitely worth it.. was celebrating my birthday so I'm worth it. 😁

Excellent food and cocktails

You like Thai food then this is the place. Words cannot describe the quality of the dining experience you will receive. Just take my word for it and go. I eat a lot of Thai.

Good Food, Great Decor

By Kristine B |

A friend and I dined together at around 7 pm on a Friday evening in the summer. Service was fast and our server was knowledgeable and attentive without hovering. The food was delicious and the decor was really attractive. We sat inside because we didn’t have a reservation but inside was nice, too, so we didn’t mind. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent Thai

By yellowpixels |

Highly recommended by repeat patrons. Remarkably great food. This is the way Thai food should look, feel and taste. Our group all agreed that this is an excellent Thai restaurant. Make a reservation.

Uncomfortable and dissatisfied

By Nita C |

No working AC! flies and a couple hornets flying around and we were inside,we had reservations at 7 pm Sunday the 23rd and still waited outside on the stairs about 20 mins to clear and clean the table, Got to the tables and waited about 15 more mins for a server, brought water and was short 2 glasses, then we ordered drinks and waiter informed if given a 5 star review we could redeem a free Thai ice tea, I ordered calamari and crab rice that had grit and bits of sand or shells in it, at 40.00 per plate my 8 yr old had a egg and rice. No sweet sauce was mentioned even though I asked, lime green spicy sauce and a chili based hot sauce. My son wanted a milder papaya salad and was told it just came spicy? Our bill was 319.00 and I'm not sure why? I feel like this restaurant is not accommodating the customers and at 40.00 a plate for rice they should be able to have AC, ceiling fans working, Food was over priced and I will not return. Nw location is 10× better I was told, Seemed money was the goal here

Beautiful meals

By Lafemmeavecchiens |

What beautiful meals are created here! Some are spendy but with it. Diverse homemade hot sauces add a kick. Fresh vegan spring rolls & herb salad were excellent. Great service. Surprisingly fast preparation time!

Beautiful interior design!

By Bryan H |

At first, I was so busy looking for my lunch date, that I didn't pay attention to the decor of this new Hawthorne Street restaurant. Went on a Friday for lunch on a beautiful spring day, and discovered several small rooms (three or four) with six or so tables each. The restaurant menu looked intriguing, but was a wee bit disappointed with portion size for the price we paid for each entree. To be honest, it seemed overpriced. The service was attentive, though. I might go back, but I would urge them to develop a lunch menu that is a bit more affordable.

Worth a try

By Tim Eaton |

Four of us went and each ordered a different dish and each was VERY good. We did start off with the calamari and it seemed a bit shy of calamari for the price. There were big bites of just the tempura batter. It's a bit pricey but don't let that stop you. Service was excellent. The crab fried rice was a standout especially with the sauce poured over it!! It's not your run of the mill Thai food. They do have some standard noodle dishes. The ginger tea also a great choice. It's slightly sweet with a little bite to it. Very balanced and tasty!! Definitely recommend and will go back.

Delicious Thai food in a fun setting!

By tellatraveltale |

We dined in this restaurant twice since it opened. And we weren't disappointed. The vibe is very modern and fun. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We made reservations for both times that we dined there. We tried the samosas with potato filling served with a curry dipping sauce and the fresh salad rolls with tofu for appetizers. The samosas were more like empanadas, little greasy but tasty. The coconut curry sauce was very tasty. The salad rolls were the best I have ever had and it was because of the freshly made thick rice wrappers. I am not sure whether this is traditional or it was their creativity. But whatever it was, we loved it, was stellar! We tried three stir fries, Pad ped with red curry paste, Pad ka pow and chilli cabbage. The Pad ped was the most delicious and flavourful out of the three. The Pad ka pow didn't live up to the expectations, was good but not great, the sauce lacked something, the dish needed more flavour from basil. The chilli cabbage was exactly as described in the menu with garlic, chilli oil and fish sauce. We tried the Pad kee mow the first time we dined here. The host asked us for our feedback as it was our first time at the restaurant. The noodles lacked seasonings which is what I conveyed to him. He was so gracious about this that he took it off our tab as it wasn't made well. It was such a nice gesture and it shows that they care and want to maintain consistency. During both times we ordered different curries, green and red. Both were the stars of the meals! They did make the red curry with eggplant upon request. They were superb! The rice has to be separately ordered. A lot of guests seem to order the specials which looked great. Their portions looked good. I noticed that there was roti (like the Malaysian roti canai) served along one of the specials. Upon request our host brought us an order of roti with dipping curry sauce though it wasn't on the menu. The dessert we ordered was sticky rice with mango was well made but seemed pricey for the portion, around $10 is what I think we paid. The food is fresh and definitely tastes refreshingly different. The stir fries aren't greasy at all when compared to what is served generally. This restaurant definitely stands out in their preparations and the specials in the menu are also very different than what one can find normally. Overall the menu is priced slightly more than an average Thai menu around the town and portions may seem smaller. But it could also because of the quality of the ingredients they use. The chicken they use is locally sourced and organic. A great new addition to the Portland Thai restaurants!

solid

By Kristoffer Magnusson |

Pretty solid Thai food with some really awesome flavors. The portion size is not the biggest, but they really pack a lot of taste in each bite. I had the Pad Kee Mao and my friend had the Panama curry. The flat noodles we're good, but man, that curry is bomb. With the jasmine rice it's really damn good!

A great PDX stop!

By Kimo F |

I love that they have incredible contemporary dishes and then some of the street food to try on the back of the menu too. Their sauces are just perfect too and the RIGHT amount of spice 😋

A unique experience

By Manuel L |

I really recommend trying the food at this location. It really exceeded my expectations. The quality, freshness of their ingredients make this place a unique experience. I was on my way to Washington from California, I wanted to take a break from driving and have a meal to enjoy in a park, (pandemic) They had plenty of space and I noticed that they were very clean, but I just wanted to isolate myself even more from people. I ordered for pick up and went to a park. needless to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal. I ordered the Kan Kua Goon, it was served on a young coconut with its meat, with fresh herbs and blue rice. if you like spicy food this will make you very happy and wanting more. I saved a bit of the left over and enjoyed it the next day. On my return to California I stopped to pick up another order and bought an additional one to enjoy at a later time. I am happy to review this place because it is worth it. The employees were super friendly and welcoming. I have been telling people that when in Portland they have to go and try their food.

Fantastic Curry but Touristy

By skajjm |

The touristy nature of the Farmhouse made me feel more like I was eating americanized thai food than authentic. The cocktails were overly designed, to the point that I didn't really enjoy drinking them. That being said, the curries were all delicious and I was impressed to see a lot of dishes here that aren't served elsewhere.

Amazing food! Quirky joint.

By Kristin D |

My son and I loved our visit here. Great red curry, nice chili selection, and creative plating/service. Complete with soft-core porn paperbacks on the library shelves next to our table. Keep Portland Weird!

Very Good local Thai dishes!

By moodyivan |

Recommend reservations. Like visiting a friend's living room for a family meal. Dishes were well prepared and ordering several dishes and sharing is the way to go. The blue rice served with many dishes adds an exotic touch. Our waitress was super friendly and very good at describing the dishes, making recommendations and accommodating our few particular requests. Cocktails are excellent. Food came hot and quick , all around an excellent choice for a night out for a good very flavorful meal.

Just skip this place, so many better Thai places in PDX

By TravelingDee |

Having eaten at so many GREAT Thai places in Portland and elsewhere, we were looking forward to this one. What a total disaster in all possible ways! Completely inattentive service after being seated. They were NOT short staffed as a whole group of employees were clustered together talking/laughing but not caring about their waiting customers. Finally got our order taken, but what we ordered was not what we got. They made some nonsense excuse about being out of salmon - really you couldn't tell us that when we ordered? Spice level totally bland. Food was cold when it shouldn't have been. Music way to loud. Again couldn't get anyone to close us out as employees were too busy chatting amongst themselves. Don't waste your time here. Go to nearly any other Thai place in town!!!

Great Food/Fun Night

By Donna S |

We were renting a house right off Hawthorne Blvd and we saw a note saying this restaurant was a must try. After a busy day of sightseeing we decided to go to TheFarmhouse. We had a table on the porch: servers were Nicole and Katerina. Both girls were good servers and fun! The short rib entree was huge and delicious!!! Salmon in banana leaves was also excellent. Drinks were very tasty and different. Try if you are in area.

great for lunch

By _mackayj16 |

the food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Sitting outside was delightful I am no expert on Thai foods but the preparations were excellent and delicious

Strange Name for a Thai Restaurant!

By Happytraveller604 |

Although the name may be unusual for a Thai restaurant, the cuisine is well worth the visit. The food and service was excellent. We opted to share a starter (shrimp) and salad (rice and many other items) and it was more than ample for a meal - both were very tasty. A little pricier than many other thai restaurants would be the only downside.

Good food great atmosphere

By Hope |

Delicious! Best samosa’s I’ve had. Very good yellow curry. Did not enjoy pad thai. Too sweet and noodle size small giving it a more mushy consistency. The flavors and spices are in the sauces and they were really good! Blue sticky rice, snow ball thai tea, cool decor stood out.

Great spicy Thai food

By Ann Marie S |

The spicy dishes that I had were the crispy calamari and the noodle cup entree. If you love spicy food these dishes were fantastic. Definitely the best Thai food that I have had in a long time. Service was great. The wait staff was very attentive.

Excellent

Excellent food and a nice atmosphere. The drinks were tasty and fun. The food was fantastic — especially the duck. We really enjoyed our dinner.

Great food, great atomosphere!

Some of the best and freshest tasting Thai cuisine around. Service was excellent, and the chef came out personally to describe each dish. Would recommend 100%!

Five Alarm Fire Volcano Cup Noodles

By Houdah A |

The moment I saw a photo of it, I had to try the Cup Noodle thing! Very delicious and the beef rib is very tender but OMG IS THAT THING HOT!!!! I think my face is still on fire 🤣 Would be cool if they had a less spicy version for us weaker mortals, but otherwise it was awesome. Tried the things my friends got and those tasted great (with far less heat). Will be back to try some other dishes!

Bright. Airy. Tasty dishes. Good service

By AnnKirby |

One in our group chose this restaurant that none of us had tried before. We were concerned about finding a parking space but found one right on Hawthorne around 11:30 AM for a Sunday noon lunch. A tattoo business next door had an OPEN sign, so we thought the restaurant was open but not. However, we made a reservation and enjoyed their outdoor seating area. We eat out a lot, so what sets this Thai restaurant apart are its very flavorful dishes with a delightful meld of textures, sauces, and fresh ingredients served in a bright, airy environment prettier than other noodle places. There were several other patrons, but the noise level was low. The salmon and mango salad portions were relatively small except the 24-hour beef rib was a very generous hunk of melt-in-your-mouth meat that was shared with others. Our server recommended it, and I'm glad. The kids menu chicken was a good value; the kid's noodles not so much. Very friendly and competent servers. Our bill included an approximately twenty percent gratuity.

Good thai food where they don't hold back on spice.

By xPositor |

A recommendation from the concierge at the hotel, as their friend had recently eaten here. And what a good recommendation it was. A house converted in to a restaurant, with relatively small rooms with a few tables in each, with quirky decoration. Not an extensive menu, but a well chosen one nonetheless. And when they say a particular meal is hot, they mean it!

Aesthetically beautiful restaurant, but a little overpriced

By 907blaked |

We went here for dinner. Our son thought the focus was too much on being showy/aesthetically pleasing. The prices were a bit high. My wife loved the aesthetics! Most in our group liked their food, especially the curry and rice. The vegan in our group said the pad eggplant was not very good. I was disappointed there weren’t some basic choices available for lower prices (eg, pad Thai) - their only options were “flair” food that cost a lot.

Delicious Food!

By johnc_ong |

Went here for a birthday dinner and I have to say that the food was really good. I usually get two things and split each thing with my girlfriend (to try more food of course) and this place was no exception. They had the traditional Thai dishes you're use to seeing like pad thai and pad see ew and such, but I wanted something different. The specials on the menu were definitely something different and caught my eye. The #1 thing I wanted to try was the panang neua. How could you say no to slow braised bone in short rib? My girlfriend got the BBQ kai yang as our second dish. Out of the two, the panang neua was better, but both both were good. The amount of meat in the panang neua was more than I expected, which is a great thing! The curry they put on the short rib actually had a good spice level, not enough to make you die, but enough for you to want to maybe take an extra bite of rice or sip of water here and there. If you tend to eat a lot of rice like me, you should consider ordering extra since you only get one scoop of their blue rice. You forget the vegetables are there because they are at the very bottom, but I advise you to look for them because they are good all in itself too! The BBQ kai yang came as half a chicken with sticky rice, papaya salad, and 2 different dipping sauces for the chicken. I can't say which sauce I liked better, but it was a good change of pace to eat one sauce for one bite, and the other sauce of the other. The layout of the restaurant is unique (maybe not for Portland) since it looks like it was once a house before and they have seating for you in the front, on the patio, and inside the house. Our service was about what I expected for a party of 16 people, but just beware, they only let you use 3 credit cards per table, and each additional card is an extra $1.50. The gratuity was an extra 20% instead of the typical 18%, so just be forewarned. Although a little on the pricier side, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed my food and would come back again.

Great service and food

Visited the Farmhouse on Christmas Eve. It was a celebration of tastes. We shared the Pork Belly salad and the curried Fried Chicken. The flavors were very well balanced with explosions of surprises. I can not wait to go back.

Blue Rice

A fine dining experience with yellow curry and blue rice. Outdoor seating was available and the service was very prompt and efficient.

Some of the Best Thai Food in Portland and the most beautiful

By Milestogo007 |

Went to Farmhouse Kitchen with my brother and enjoyed a fantastic lunch. We started with an appetizer Neau Num Tok Rolls which is Waygu beef wrapped around cucumber, mint, cilantro with a cilantro lime vinaigrette and it was excellent. They also served out an amazingly tasty house vegetable soup which was exceptional. For the main course I ordered the Hat Yai Fried Chicken with blue rice, Roti, and yellow curry. Absolutely amazing! My brother shared his Pad Ka Kow with pork belly and fried egg which was exceptional also. The Thai food here is fantastic and I think if you are on Hawthorne street which has many Thai food restaurants on it, I would recommend Farmhouse Kitchen over all of these. The food was presented beautifully and the service was very good.

fell in love with the decor, portions, and thai iced tea

By Alejandra M |

The vibe is super comfortable and feels like home. The food is beautifully presented and they have plenty of vegetarian options. I loved that we could customize how spicy our meals were and that the food was so fresh.

very pleasant

By Irish Fan 1981 |

Had a nice table by the window. My daughter said the Pad See You was one of the best she's had. My Thai Fried Rice was delicious, and my son ate every bite of his Hat Yai Fried Chicken. Wait staff was attentive. Look forward to going back.

no complaints here. waited 45 minutes and it was worth it

By chimayred |

recommended by local friends. Everyone's dish was great except mine, which was good. The rib was frankly amazing. I got a fried rice type dish which was pretty good, but the other's stuff was great. We had to wait 45 minutes and walked up the block to McMenamin's Bagdad, and the wait was worth it.

Wow elevated Thai food!

By pdxtravelguy |

Friendly, Fun, delicious and reasonable

By Robert G |

We had dinner on New Years eve. The staff were really in the holiday mood, and were clearly enjoying themselves and having fun while doing their job well. Not everyone who has to work on New Year's eve would be so. having never been there, we ordered two dishes, which looked to be quite expensive (like over $20 for the special bone in beef soup); however, the portions are large enough for two, three, or maybe even four people. This is very much a place to eat family style where everyone gets to try everything. Two dishes was way too much food for two people and I am not a light eater. The food was excellent. The recommendation of our server were superb. The price was actually on the low side of moderate considering the size of the servings. Service was excellent: menus came quickly, order was taken as soon as we were ready, food was prepared and served quickly, and sauces and condiments were excellent. They have a house made pepper sauce that is outstanding. It is hot, but with flavor. There must be at least 8 different peppers, herbs, and spices in it. Did I mention this was New Year's eve? The restaurant was very busy, but the service was outstanding. My water glass never got empty, and our server checked with us quite regularly! One of the best Thai meals we have ever had, and all of the staff seemed to clearly enjoy what they do, which made it a fun place as well as a good Thai meal. There is no doubt that we will be back, and if our experience was not a "fluke" we will likely be back many times. We found this place with random wandering about. With a name like the Farm House, we had no idea it was Thai until we wandered in. Lucky us.

Beautiful and Fresh!!

By Jennifer R |

Wow. So impressed with our dinner at the Farmhouse restaurant. The service was enthusiastic and friendly, the food was just spot on! Beautifully presented with creative and authentic flavors. Finished with some mint tea and I would give this 10 stars if I could, go out of your way if you have to. Do not miss it!!

Excellent Thai Food

By Ira W |

The restaurant is in an old farmhouse and the rooms are divided into private spaces where one can eat or there is the common table where one can enjoy their food and meet others. The food is fresh, sauces tasty and the drinks are exotic. I was taken there for my birthday and it was one of the most wonderful Thai meals I've had.

Good Thai Food in Hawthorne

By SasPDX |

The vegetarian offerings were good..the CV usual Tom Kha soup, Red and Green curry and Papaya Salad. The cocktails were great. Overall impression was that it is pricier than most Thai places. However the staff are good and the ambience is interesting..
