My second time and I'd go back

By Annette F |

This is a lunch counter place in Post Alley opposite Pike Place Market. First time I had the fesinjoun - excellent. This time I did not want as much, so I had a chicken kabab, my daughter had a beef kabab. Very well spiced, tasty meat, excellent rice. No hesitancy in providing extra soumak. It's a must stop place if you're at the market.

Must Try

This place is not far from the Pike Market. If you are looking for great Persian food you must eat here. The food was as good as some of the fancy Persian restaurants without the frills. They have limited seating so you may want to consider ordering out. We tried Kobideh and Lamb kabob and both were excellent. Lamb was delicious and amazingly tender.

Lunch at pike place

As you enter pike's place its indoors with some seating. We enjoyed the vegetables and rice as well as the chicken. The owner is there with his family making the dishes and checking on you. Its a great experience. The food was very good

Hidden gem in Post Alley

By DiDi |

While roaming around Pike Place Market looking for something to eat I came upon Farvahar Persian Cafe hidden in Post Alley. The menu had a lamb burger which I'll never turn down so I ordered it and sat down at the small eating area to wait for my meal. When it came out I was impressed by the large burger which was filled with a delicious cream sauce, lettuce, a tomato slice and a feta type cheese along with a nice size grilled lamb patty. Thankfully I was given a fork and some napkins because I needed the fork to first eat the delicious crunchy feta type cheese and lettuce that had fallen off the burger before picking it up and diving in. The flavors that filled my mouth were overwhelming. The lamb was cooked perfectly and had a nice char on it and the large bun which was perfectly toasted held up to the amount of food that it was holding. It took me about 20 minutes to eat this large burger because I was thoroughly enjoying every bite and wanted to savor it. I'm glad I roamed around and looked for something unique in the market to eat and found this spot. In addition the price was right for the amount of food that I got and I'd like to come here again with my family before I leave.

Chicken Kabob with Rice and Grilled Tomatoes

We were admittedly hungry after a flight from the East Coast and a decent walk around the market, but I think this meal may have been one of the top ten I have EVER had. The personnel was friendly and brought the food to the little table at which we were sitting in the market. There was no line.

Hard to find but worth it! Tasty!

Tucked away in Post Alley, just up from the market. Was craving dill & Lima bean rice. Simple menu, excellent food, and if you ask, the chef will make doogh (yogurt drink). We easily got a table on a busy saturday in August.

1st time! And last time...

I had never had Persian Cuisine before so I was excited. I believe I expected too much. It was ok, but lacked in flavoring. The meat was cooked down perfectly, but that was about it. No saffron taste in the saffron rice? Oh and the worker was nice beyond that it left me never wanting to go back with so many other solid options out there. Good luck 😃

Loved!

Located in Post Alley, no trouble to find. If you are lodging in downtown Seattle for a for a number of days, there's no shortage of restaurants to choose from nearby in the Pike's Place Market, but I do highly recommend this one. My husband loved the chicken kababs and I am in love with their Persian Hummus. But the star of our selections was the Borani Eggplant. Crave!!!

Hidden Gem!!

By Bill S |

We were looking for lunch at Pikes Market and found long lines for most of the restaurants in the area when we walked around a corner and found this outstanding little eatery. My wife had a beef kabob which she loved. The meat was well seasoned and the rice was very good! I had the eggplant which was mashed with so many flavors. It was sooo good!!! It was served with warm pita bread that served as a delicious scoop for all that goodness!! From now on, I will work harder to explore new and different restaurants!!

Friendly delicious Persian food.

One visit to this place and you will be dreaming of visiting Iran. Delicious gormeh sabzi, and fesenjoon, but the best part is talking to the staff. Sit at the bar and you may even get to taste a few extra items. Thank you Omid. See you guys again soon.

Amazing flavor! Heavenly taste!!

Best Veggie Burger in Seattle

Counter and table options. In the Pike Place Market. Tender, tasty original veggie burger. The best!

A hidden treasure in the Market!

By Mostafaghfoury |

If you like to eat a good homemade Persian/Iranian foods at very reasonable prices, try this small cafe. Six of us visiting from Canada tried the food for two days in a row. Majid, the owner welcomes you with smile. I tried special dish with three different kebabs on the first day and a vegetarian dish(#5), eggplant borani on the second day. Happy about both and recommend the place.

Hidden Lunch Spot

By mcbr |

We found this by accident after eating at a nearby sandwich shop. The food looked so good that we went back the next day to have lunch. We were not disappointed! Delicious kabobs and rice. Of course they have lots of other items on the menu too. You order at the counter and find a table nearby. Inexpensive for the quality and amount of food served. Definitely worth hunting for if you are in the neighborhood.

Hidden treasure!!

I'm Persian and I'm a huge critic on Persian food. So many places claim that their food is authentic but it's not. This food was the real thing. It was so delicious. The owners were also so friendly and nice. Definitely a hidden treasure in the market!!

Shared a very tasty lamb kebab sandwich with my wife. A real treat. No queuing, no hype just great food. Recommended.

Authentic Persian

By TriedandTrue2 |

I love that the owners are cooking and serving the food here. This restaurant is a "fast food" lunch fare and not a full-blown Persian restaurant. The meals are quick but authentic in taste. I am part Persian and appreciated the flavors, the fresh salads and the delicate rice pilaf that came with my kebab plate. My husband loved his lamb sandwich. The pepper sauce was outstanding with just enough heat to spice it up but not overkill and take away from the fresh flavors of herbs used in the cooking.

it is not really not Persian food.

meat is very bad quality. the food I got on the weekend was old and I felt sick the next day. The attitude of people who work there was not friendly. I think that was the last time.

What a Persian Surprise

By Shaghayegh F |

I headed to the Market with the intention to eat at the Pike Place Chowder but they were closed. By some random stroke of fait I stumbled upon The Farvahar Persian Cafe. It was perfect. The food was just like my mom's cooking (I'm Iranian by the way), the staff was incredibly humble and polite, and everything was affordable. I can say with all my heart that this little Persian Cafe has stolen my little Persian- American heart.

Excellent food

I had the baghali polo which was obviously made with a lot of love. For vegxns, my fiancée would recommend the veggie plate. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, and I appreciated the fact that he asked us about what our preferred spice level would be. Great stuff!

Try the Kotlet

By AquaBarb |

My 2nd visit and I'll be back for more next time I'm in Seattle. The Kotlet sandwich was just like Momon used to make a meal in itself.

Street food

By Norm W |

After walking all over the Seattle Harbour we stumbled upon this street food restaurant tucked away in an alley. I ordered the chicken kabob and mi wife ordered the Mahdi Polo . The food was excellent at a reasonable price. The guy ran the place all by himself. Great place to eat if you are hyngry

Escape the crowds with a taste of Persia

By adsk |

Pike Place Market is busy but Farvahar is a oasis of calm in comparison. There is a limited menu but quality items are more important than choice. I had a delicious chicken stew with chopped walnuts and pomegranate molasses. It was served with fluffy basmati rice. A refreshing homemade lemonade accompanied. Do check this place out the next time you're in the area - you will not be disappointed.

Delicious, authentic Persian food in Post Alley. Loved it!

By CapeCodTravelWriter |

My husband and I enjoyed the Ghorme Sabzi (Persian Green Stew) and Fesenjen (Persian Chicken Stew with Walnut and Pomegranate Sauce). These authentic Persian dishes were rich with flavor and very satisfying. Looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!

Worth a try

By AndyDraven |

While Pike Place during lunch time, was looking for something different. Came across Farvahar and was curious. The menu seemed very exotic with spices and flavours that I have never tried before so I gave it a try. I ordered a chicken and rice dish. I was intrigued about the pomegranate which was the dish was cooked in. The food came quick and was served warm. The taste was different, not what I had expected but enjoyable. Bite after bite I started to like it better and could taste each aspect of the spices. The rice was fluffy and cooked well. I did enjoy my experience and was glad that I tried it.
