We saw this place on Yelp and it had raving reviews. We stayed right across the street so we decided to check it out. I had the fathom burger, the meat had such great flavor! My boyfriend had the bierwurst, it was sooo good too! Try this place!

The Sunday brunch was spectacular! Loco Moco Spam and Eggs Hot Italian sausage gravy and Biscuits. The tap list is outstanding...Pliny the Elder tops the list. Tons of other great beers.

Had dinner here and was a little disappointed. Very nice staff and unique atmosphere but unless you like sausage/hot dogs and beer, go elsewhere.

We ate here last night and loved it. My husband got the beiwurst and I got the fathom burger. The food was definitely worth it. Also the guy that helped us was friendly and even recommended a good beer for my hubby. It was nice to sit on the pier and eat.

Just a small shack on the pier on Shelter Island. It doesn't look like much but there's a reason why there is a line here at times and often on the weekend. The food here is great! Their burgers taste like they grind their own meat. Everyone that works here is friendly and their food is not to be missed. The menu may not be as large as some would prefer but what they do make is worth the wait in line. I would absolutely eat here again.

Great, hidden spot with amazing views of downtown San Diego. Multitude of craft beers. Have not tried their food / limited menu but looks good!

This tiny restaurant on the public pier at Shelter Is. has great views of the bay. It's a great place to catch a sunset over the water. However, go early as seating is very limited. The limited menu features grilled and fried items. There is almost unlimted parking in the adjacent public parking lot.

Swift service. They serve a got hot dog! Lovely outlook on the jetty, across San Diego Bay. They serve a variety of beers.

Fathom is always a great little place to stop at. I grabbed the beniettes for breakfast & went back later for lumpia. The customer service is great & you can't beat the bay view.

We stop in here often. Local craft beers and homemade sausages, need I say more? Oh-and you can sit outside and watch the sailboats and ships going by. Amazing. Pelicans also know about this place.

This is a nice place to walk to on Shelter Island. Try the chicken pot pie sausage, or the shrimp po'boy or the pulled pork with house made kimchi. Yum! Beer selection is great. Nice view of the harbor and bay - got to watch an aircraft carrier come in while we ate.

This is a cute little spot on the dock. I love to watch the local fishermen. They have extra choices on Sunday Mornings. Great place to relax & watch the local sea life with good food & drinks/

We were staying on the island and wanted something quick and not too expensive. This fit the bill--good burgers, sandwiches, beer. A few tables inside and 4 or so outside. It's actually on the pier. Kitschy decor--diving, posters from deep-sea movies.

Located on the wharf on shelter island and opens at 3pm week days. The selection is limited but the taste in unbelievable with their sausages and burgers, portions are generous

When you're strolling on Shelter Island, appreciating views of Point Loma, downtown, and all the boats, you'll probably wish there was somewhere to stop for a bite to eat and maybe a beer. There is, on the Shelter Island finishing pier. This is the only place along the bayfront. The sandwiches are good, they have a great selection of craft beers, and the proprietor is very nice. You can eat outside or inside. Prices are a little high but, again, it's the only place to eat and drink along the bayfront.

If staying at Kona Kai Resort or other hotels on Shelter Island, take a walk along the shore and out on the fishing pier for a great view and good food!

Was not expecting this to be a foodie sort of place, as it's on the pier at Shelter Island. I usually love to support independently owned restaurants so we stopped here out of convenience and after checking Yelp. Looked really cool when we got there, and the Fuego Dog my husband wanted to order sounded great. Sadly, he was rejected as they were only serving brunch, even though there was only 15 minutes left to the brunch hours. I ordered their Loco something or other, which is a big pile of rice with scrambled egg and other stuff on top, and a choice of gravies or kimchee. Sounded weird enough that I thought I would love it. It was okay, would have been much better with fried eggs and runny yolk imho, but large portion. Hubby had spam and rice with the same scrambled eggs on top, also large portion but he would have preferred something to pour over the rice too. All of our leftovers made a great fried rice the next day. I wouldn't order the rice dishes again, but I would def go back to try all those sausages we didn't get to have. Oh, and very nice beer selections. I want to love this place but I'll have to give it another try if I make it back there.

My boyfriend and I fish on the pier when we don’t have time to take the boat out and everything about this place is fantastic! They have an incredible staff that’s always very friendly and informative about the beer & food menu. Top notch craft beers accompanied with homemade sausages! They also have lumpia which is our go to quick snack! If you’re in the area you must visit this gem!

Great beer great food and good times. We will certainty be back. The San Diego skylines ate amazing.

Fathom Bistro is a great little casual rustic place, on the Fishing pier in Shelter Island, San Diego. Right across the street form Humphery's, and other well known hotels, a visitor can stroll over, and choose from a great selection of fresh, Local & Califonia craft Beers, with a few fins belginas too, on draft, and pick from a variety of hand made saussage sanwiches and a few other items. I like the Hot Dog, with mustard on the side. My wife loved the Beer brat and some of the spicier ones. It’s the "backside " of a Bait shop , that’s been there for many years, Until Dennis Borlek, a local Beer bar manager/ aficionado, took over and wanted to create a fun spot to enjoy the view and the bay's charms. There are still many folks fishing, lots of friendly Pelicans, who are real con artist characters, hoping for some of the bait, and families out for the view and fresh air. The cafe itself has a small indoor setting, with a TV on the wall that plays deep sea documentaries and the like, keeping with the Nautical/ dining decor Dennis has created, that includes old diving helmets, portholes, and the like. then, a small outside seating patio, where you can also take your treats and sit in the breeze, and see San Diego's downtown skyline, just across the bay, and the many Navy and civilian boats and watercraft plying the blue waters. There are also many kinds of fish, seabirds, and even sea turtles living here. With a interesting mix of Local beer enthusiasts, [who will be glad to steer you to other great beer spots, or choose a local beer!], Fishing folk, and tourists, Fathom is a unique view and experience of San Diego's hidden charms. In fairness, I am a local, and Dennis is a friend, but I think many will enjoy this place ion their visit to san Diego.

I started writing this and my screen "blipped" and disappeared, so this may show up twice. Tiny one-room wooden hut out on the pier directly across the street from our hotel, serving all sorts of craft beers, one brewed right there on the pier! Four of us each tried a different one, all surprisingly good. They offered an eclectic menu of hand-stuffed sausages, Spam hash with eggs, etc., but we were going out to dinner so decided to come back the next morning for brunch. It sounded so funky and unusual. Unfortunately, when we returned the next morning, there was a sign posted on the door saying they were closed temporarily due to a leak in the kitchen. Bummer! Will definitely try to stop in there on our next trip down to S.D.

The beer was very good, and the service was amazing!! Wasn't expecting much out of this place when we saw it, we were just out exploring the area near our hotel, and had walked out on the pier to get a closer look at the sea lions. The sign out front caught my eye though, and then we decided we would try a beer and just hang out for a bit, since that's what vacation is all about anyway! I got the burger and it was hands down one of the best I've had, and my husband had the "Explodo dog"....lord knows I was expecting the worst out of that later, if ykwim ;) and he went back and ordered another one! All he talked about the rest of our trip was going back out there to get another one, lol, so it must have been good!

The spicy & delicious food, and local IPA's were great...especially with a seat on the pier, and a view of harbor seals and pelicans too.

Great for a beer and a snack in the afternoon or evening. Always 10 beers on tap, great burgers and other little dishes. everything is fresh made. Nice to sit there and watch the fishermen on the pier.

Such a beautiful location! Can’t beat the views and vibe. Order inside and food is brought to you. Started with beignets for our brunch appetizer! Yummm! Had the Moco Loco, a burger, and Biscuits & Gravy in our group. The Moco Loco was the star of the show! So good! Ans such a good deal. And the burger did not disappoint either. Great food, great spot. Loved it!

Great waterside venue. Very, very casual and simple - basically handmade, grilled sausage and a wide variety of beer - many local. Great service, delicious food, casual environment, perfect for the coast. Would readily recommend.

Limited menu with great food. I had the Spicy Italian Sausage. It was tremendous and the red sauce was a great compliment. My friend who is local, and who brought me here had another shrimp po boy and loves them. Nice beer selection and a cool view/ location. Not much seating, but there is some inside and out. I would highly recommend this place.

This small bar located on the Shelter Island Fishing Pier was quite a find. The food was good, especially the brunch!!! The beer selection was incredible. And the staff and owner were very personable and helpful. We were in San Diego for 9 days and went to Fathom's 3 times. The view of the Bay and City was beautiful day and night. We truly enjoyed our time there, got to try some new beers, and had an awesome, romantic time. Met some other nice folks. Great great great find!!!! We will definitely be back next time we are in San Diego. Only down side is using the public toilets in the park, but worth it. Highly recommend.

On the pier, very little seating, wonderful beer selection, food comfort style, good, but not an extensive menu, It is a place you go to more than once.

I love this little spot so much so i almost didnt want to review it because it seems to be a well kept secret but that wouldnt be fair not to share the great sandwiches and beer selection they have. My trip to SD not complete until we stop here!

This little establishment is located on a pier on Shelter Island. It is small with a fantastic view of the San Diego skyline. The menu is limited but offers tasty food, such as hamburgers, sausage and hot dogs. Their hot dogs are great and inventive. They also offer great beer.

We finally popped in when this little gem was open. The food looks yummy, but we just stopped in for a drink. A Pear Hard Cider...very good!

Very nice place to sit and look over San Diego while enjoying a quality micro-brew. Friendly people working there.

Low key very casual restaurant on the pier. You order at the counter and food delivered to table. Two tables inside but sit outside and enjoy the view of harbor and downtown San Diego. Food is fresh and made to order and so good. Had pulled pork sandwich with kimchi and the chicken, tomato, basil sausage sandwich. Both so yummy. Amazing selection of beer, had Pliny the Elder on tap and lots of others. Funky casual but oh so good.

So we just stumbled into this place because we were nearby and told the best burgers in San Diego were found here. As scuba instructors we were pleasantly surprised to find the place was full of vintage dive gear. There was even an episode of Sea Hunt playing on the television. The place has a retro-cool but authentic vibe to it. While we were eating (the burgers really are great BTW) we struck up a conversation with the owner. He was super cool and clearly enjoyed talking about diving. If you’re a diver and in the area this place is worth a visit just to check it out. And if you’re not a diver (you really should be) the burgers are pretty great.

Great beer selection and very friendly service. The is good too. Try the lumpia. They are a great snack to eat with a cold beer while taking in the beautiful views of downtown San Diego and the boats coming in and out of the bay.

The Fathom Bistro has a prime location on the public pier on Shetler Is. Thus, you can enjoy spectacular sunsets from tjhis vantage point. On Sundays a Hawaiian style breakfast is offered with spam. The only negative is that the tiny size inhibits n umbers. Thus, you may have to wait to find a sseat at the Fathom.

Stopped by this place one evening for a drink. This is a bar/restaurant on a pier. The atmosphere is pretty chill. The drink selection is great. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The views of the city are nothing short of awesome. This is a great spot for a drink.

This is located on the pier on Shelter Island. You can watch people fish, watch the boats go by and enjoy a plethora of different beverages. The Fuego Dog was great, not too spicy. The beignet's and drunken fruit salad were great for breakfast along with mimosas.

My friend from San Clemente took me out for the day to Liberty Station and Point Loma and he remembered this little place on the fishing pier on Shelter Island. Never knew this place even existed. Great craft beers and homemade sausages are their specialty. We had to have beer and brats and sat at the outside tables with the locals. Great views and a few fisherman. Just a really cool vibe and a great place to chill.

Super cool little bar and pub with superb mix at top notch beers on tap (Pliny the Elder !!) home made sausages and other grub and a killer collection of nautical adventure memorabilia including a 30 year collection of old National Geographics. All this and a million dollar view of the Bay and Downtown from the patio. Treat yourself and treat your friends and check out Fathom.

I have started power walking on Shelter Island, again. I discovered a great spot on the pier, with good food, drinks and ambience! Fathom Bistro is a treat! Outdoor seating, with views of the water, of course! Pirate Kevin was there to greet you, with his pirate outfit, sword, boots and green hair! Nice guy, and is only hosting several days a week. Placed my order inside. They only allow one person at a time to place an order to adhere to Covid -19 precautions. The food is brought out to you with a smile. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I had a yummy hamburger and also lumpia. it is a different version from what you might be used to, but tasty. I had a delicious IPA beer and a Cabernet. I will be returning this Thursday with a friend and try out the sausages. You can view the menu online. It is a great place to go and relax after a power walk

Very simple yet great! The food is basic and tasty and the select of beer great! I love the local (on a pier) and their music selection is eclectic and very enjoyable. Great place for an adult couple to chill. I cannot recommend it enough!

Dropped by this restaurant on the pier and had one of their hotdogs. Very good food and friendly staff. Great spot for a quick bite while out for a walk

Popped in to this tiny little fast food joint on my last day in San Diego, it's in a great location, right towards the end of Shelter Island. Seating is limited so you may well be sharing a table with other people at busy times. Menu is simple, pretty much burgers and hotdogs, they don't serve french fries which surprised me but then once i'd finished my burger i realised that i didn't really need the fries as the burger was really nice and filling and cooked really well, sometimes less is more. I went for the Fathom Burger which is the entry level burger, basically beef patty, lettuce, tomato, pickle and cheese, although there were some more exotic options available. They had an excellent selection of local craft beers which i'd have liked to have a crack at but i wasn't drinking that day so stuck to soft drinks. This would be a great place to have a beer and a burger and watch the sun go down.

On the bay at Shelter Island this is a great "locals" spot for hot dogs, burgers, and beer. It's on a fishing pier so you have to fight with the pelicans who are trying to steal fish. Ride your bike or drive over.

Our friends brought us here as it is one of their local favorites. We ordered the Loco Moco and the Kimchee Pulled Pork sandwich and both meals were delicious! They have mimosas and a great selections of beer to enjoy with your meal.

What a cool little spot for lunch! Lots of beer choices, wine also (served in a coffee mug). The sausage was unbelievable! I am not a fan of sausage but this was really really good! I tried the chicken pot pie sausage the second time we were there and it was different and amazing. Of course being right on San Diego Bay on a fishing pier just added to the charm!

One of my new favorites...great place to end a bike ride, walk, or touristy-bay-viewing-excursion of any kind. The view of downtown San Diego is superb, fishermen pulling up stingrays and Mackerel (does anyone really eat fish from the bay?). Always great people watching...and this seems to be a new destination for real beer enthusiasts (Craft brewery snobs). They had Russian River Pliny (i think the elder...coulda be the younger) and a lot of funky craft beers you wont find at Hooters. I always want to stay for one more...but don't want to end up in the bay on my bike ride home..... Food...only had the Shrimp Po'Boy. They should just call it a fried shrimp sando because if you served that as a po boy in New Orleans you'd be run outta town.. I'll be back to try som'n else soon. I'm sure they could get some fresh stingray from all the fishermen right there. Go for the beer. Stay for the view. Then go to Harbortown and get the wings.

Make no mistake: Fathom Bistro is not a full-size restaurant with a varied menu. It only offers sausage, kimchi and beer. The inside dining room is only four tables and the outdoor space is limited to a few concrete seats. Having said that, it's a super-convenient spot if you go fishing on the pier, or if you have enjoyed the walk along Shelter Island and have worked up and appetite. There are a few customers during the weekend but nothing comparing to the venues in Point Loma. Definitely an interesting little place to visit if one is on Shelter Island.

We found this small place by accident, taking a walk on shelter Island there is a small fishing pier, noticed a sign for Fathoms Bistro and bait shop! Decided to take a look. Great beer selection on tap and by the bottle, but the food was fabulous. Homemade sausages the chicken sundried tomatoe basil with pesto and melted cheese was the BEST. My husband got the Shredded pork and fresh Kim Chee. Burgers, wedge salad, and hot dogs looked great. we have already made it back twice. Also the surroundings, watching the fisherman saw a halibut and small shark. Also the helicoptors from the Navy base, boats sailing by. It can get cool in the evening so bring a sweater. This place is a Dive, no dressing up tee shirt, shorts jeans.

Felt like one of the locals. Fantastic draft beer selections and tasty bacon wrapped hot dog is what I had. Sitting on the pier, watching the locals fish...and the occasional navy ship coming into port... Awesome..

This is like someone took a food truck and dropped it out on the pier...with good results. It is just the small building sitting on the side of the pier. A tiny inside seating area with 6 picnic tables outside. While ordering you can see right into the kitchen. I tried the kimchi hot dog which was spicy and tasty. They only use all-beef Nathan's dogs too. Small but good selection of draft microbrews too. Gorgeous view of the marina and water. Fun and scenic place to eat.

Craft beers, ales and ciders. A few clever dishes and a fun atmosphere on a small fishing pier! We were there on the opening night of lobster season so there were a lot of people on the pier and the "doorman" for this spot was dressed as a pirate - gotta love a pirate! P.S. - they have Pear Cider! Yum!

Came here for brunch on a sunny Sunday morning. Shared the huge Loco Moco plate on the dock while watching folks fish nearby. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was top-notch.

We each enjoyed a really good beer and really good food. Funky but really good spot on the pier. Well worth checking out

This tiny little gem serves gourmet, house made "hot-dog" sausages, no fish, despite being named Fathom, having a giant octopus of the side, being ON a fishing pier and selling bait from the other end of the building. Very fun little place none-the-less. The view of the city is unobstructed. We watched several navy ships entering/leaving the harbor. We tried the spicy italian, yum but with a kick and the chicken basil and sun-dried tomato. Several different micro brews on tap. Selection changes often.

Stopped in for lunch while staying on Shelter Island. Had a great brat and Italian sausage. Wonderful view!

You can't do better than sitting ON A PIER, drinking an excellent local craft brew. Some are a little out of the official "local" scene, but all are high quality micro or nano brews. Interesting food options, as well, but you go for the beer. GREAT spot!!!!

Popped in for ambience and found dedicated beer haven serving great food. Small inside but wonderful diving decor and fish on tv and really good sounds but not so loud you can't chat. Plenty of room outside to chill, watch the sail boats and seals and fishing folk. Just what we needed after finding generic hotel bar was further ruined by influx of game show contestants. Phew! Vacation buzz restored!

We've been going to Shelter Island for years. We walk early morning and are usually only there Sunday through Wednesday. This trip I took an early evening walk and saw the little fishing wharf with a line out of a very small building. I peeked in, chatted with the counter person and picked up a menu to take back to my room. The next morning I took another walk, and then ordered beignets and a mimosa ($3 in a beer stein-deal!) I knew my husband would love this place because they had hot dogs and for me, handmade sausages. Because he was working, I was trying to figure out how I could get him there - limited time, closed on Monday, opened later on Tuesday. But I did it. We squeezed in a quick bite before we got on the plane. He is still talking about the "best hot dog" he's ever eaten. I had the chicken-basil sausage grilled - fresh and filling. What a fun little place, great views, good prices and great "fast" food.

Just a few mins from our hotel on the fishing pier. I had the Fathom Burger, best one I have had in years.Took a hot dog back to the Hotel,I love hot and spicy,it was superb. The girls had different dishes and nothing was left. Limited seating inside and tables outside. Micro brewery beer20 on the card and wine served in a coffee cup. A hidden gem and great staff.

After a day of sailing, I stopped here with my son and ordered a beer and 'The World Famous Fathom Explodo Dog'. Sean, tte order taker, recommended a great beer - I like light ales - and he chose a perfect one. The hot dog was wrapped in bacon, with pepper jack cheese, and house made Kimchi and mustart. What a taste sensation! Also, there was a lot of locals fishing and just making the sights/sounds of this little restaurant enjoyable.

This spot is a local treasure. You can enjoy a great burger on the wharf while choosing from a great selection of local brews on tap. Stop by at night and you may even see a Disney cruise ship slip by!

Very cool place with really good selection of craft beers and very tasty "pub" food. Right on a small pier on Shelter Island, can sit inside or outside, or even take out (food). The food is very well made and delicious. Make their own sausages which are terrific!! Very friendly folks who work here as well.

Highly recommend stopping by for a sandwich and a beer (or two). Great atmosphere and super laid back!

My hubby was talking to a fellow he met at the hotel fitness center & he said that the best eats close by was at the Fathom Bistro right off the pier within close walking distance from our hotel on Shelter Island. "They have hot dogs" was the phrase that made me take interest. So we went to the fishing pier & there was the Fathom Bistro, Bait & Tackle that opened in February this year. We all had the hot dog of our choice & a selection of beer, wine & soft drinks. I'm a purist & had my hot dog plain on a bun...it was GREAT. We liked it so much that we went there again two nights later after a long day out in the sun & humidity. They are open most nights until 10pm which makes it very convenient & being so close to the hotels we were able to bring them back to the room & they were still hot. Sometimes you just want comfort food & Fathom provided us with just that. Great tasting food, variety of beverages & snacks, indoor & outdoor seating on a beautiful evening watching the boats & the sunset making downtown San Diego look like a city of gold.

It's always fun when an out-of-town guest recommends a eatery you never heard of before in your own home town. This is was happened during the Christmas holidays and so we found ourselves heading to Shelter Island, to a bait and tackle place no less, for beers on the water. We lucked out with parking and ordered from Fathom's extensive beer list. There were a few tables outside and a few inside, where "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea", or some other similar film was playing on the TV. We sat outside and marveled at the amazing view of the city. It was sunset and we watched the day settle on downtown. Moving then inside, our out-of-town guests proceeded to order sausages from the menu and shared them with the other meat-eaters at the table who all said they enjoyed them. The food menu is interesting, and we didn't partake, but the beer was terrific. I recommend the Belgium beer called La Chouffe which hit the spot. This is a super fun place to swing by for a cold one and a stellar view of the city. Be prepared to wait in a single beer and food queue to order, but that is all a part of slowing down to just enjoy your afternoon on the pier.

We ate here a couple nights ago and we were thoroughly impressed!! I ordered the Fathom burger that was made to order and it was amazing!! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Had burgers and craft beers as we were walking Shelter Island. Burgers were outrageous with at least 1/2 lb. hand ground beef patties lots of lettuce, onions, tomatoes. Loved the Pirate maitre'd he's a great guy and keeps things rolling and orderly. Lots of beers to choose from and samples gladly given. It's a small place with mostly outside seating but worth the visit.

Great beer, fantastic food and cheery service (made a cheeseburger for my 10 year old son that wasn't on the menu). Groovy tunes and funky setting. Couldn't ask for much more.

So, I'm a mom of 2 kids under 10. I visited this place with my parents. I have one kid that loves hot dogs and one that doesn't (neither like burgers). Sadly, there isn't much on the lunch menu that isn't a dog in some form. My kids got the plain hot dogs ($6 each). It was just the hot dogs, no chips or drinks. I got the chicken pesto - it was a type of sausage. Very tasty, but it cost $9 for just the sausage and a bun. Parents got the pulled pork (beware - it's spicy, as it has kimchi in it) and the Spicy Italian sausage. The food was really flavorful and yummy. I would like to go back and try their lumpia or eggs for brunch. Personally, for a mom, just walking up with no idea of what it was, I didn't find it too kid friendly or cheap. It looked like they had a great selection of beer - but I'm not a beer fan, so this didn't appeal to me. I would totally recommend this as a great low key date place that you could then walk along Shelter Island and enjoy the boats and water - or a place to grab a bite before the Humphrey's Concert. It would be a great place for a group of adults that want to get together and chat. Keep in mind that there is a sign that states that this isn't fast food - so depending on the number they are serving the food could take a few minutes. Our wait wasn't bad, but we were not in a hurry. I would go back - without kids. :-)

Typically pier food is just that, nothing to write home about and often something of regret later. The Fathom Bistro is a real BISTRO and dispels the notion that nothing on a pier is worth going back for. Great selection of specially hot dogs and local micro brew beers. The dog I had a kick to it and I wish I could remember the name they gave it. But I will definitely have it again! Fast and friendly service. Limited outdoor seating is the only complaint.

Delicious food! Plain hotdog was delicious as well as garden burger. Will return for weekend brunch when in the area. Cozy inside seating and seating with 5 or 6 tables outside. Enjoy the awesome views of San Diego, water activity and sealife (loved seeing a sea lion up close and personal)! Great service and helpful with brew selection.

Simple and delicious, on the pier. An imaginative selection of dogs and sausages. The beer selection was first rate.

We stayed steps away from the Shelter Island Pier, having no idea this unique hangout was right in front of the hotel. They have a really great selection of local lagers and ales, plus some tasty & unusual hot dogs. The decor is "high class beach-bum," with ocean-related movie posters and memorabilia. The best seats are right outside on the pier, overlooking San Diego Bay: sails, sunsets and fishermen. We'll be coming back someday to try their weekend brunch.

This is a great spot for hotdogs and burgers, with an impressive selection of local beer on tap. The decor is really cool, featuring maritime monster movies. It's very small, and everything is made fresh and to order, so it's not fast food. It's also on a pier where people ore fishing, so it has a truly unique vibe. If you're looking for somewhere interesting to hang out with locals, this is it.

We were on Shelter Island for my daughter's wedding. My dad had mentioned what he called a hot dog place, but we had been unable to make it there all week. Our last night there we decided we'd check out Fathom. It was right across the road and it was a lovely evening. It's right on the pier and there is dedicated seating available. I don't remember what everyone had but we all enjoyed it very much. I had the Greek burger and it was so amazing, I didn't even stop eating to take a photo. I also don't remember which drink I had but it also really hit the spot and I loved the glass. We had a lot of really great food during our time in San Diego and on Shelter Island, but this one ranks right up there. Definitely give it a try for a laid-back yet delicious meal. Or even just a couple drinks some afternoon. You will not regret it.

We were the only ones to start with. Matt was very accommodating going through the beers and even letting us try each one. The beers were great and even purchased a glass from him. The hot dogs were also great. Wasn't a great selection of drinks for my wife as she doesn't drink beer but for beer drinkers and hot dogs fans its a must and by the time we left this small venue was packed.

My sister recommend this restaurant while we were in town visiting San Diego. We originally came to Fathom for the spectacular view of the full moon over the bay and to drink one of our favorite craft draft beers from Russian River, Pliny, but me sister and her husband insisted we order some of the sausage too. Food was great as was the service and views! We tried both the Bierwurst and Chicken Basil - would recommend both!

Went to the pier and tried this place while staying on Shelter Island. Got suckered into an $8 beer that tasted like dirty dish water and an overpriced sandwich. I suppose people go here for the view. Much better food and drinks at the resort and surrounding restaurants in and around Shelter Island. Once was enough.

This is a wonderful little spot where the food is great, the views are fantastic, and the servers are really friendly and helpful. Very relaxed, very laid back, and my wife and I are already planning to go back.

Out for a stroll? Stop by for a cold one. They have a large selection of beer. Didn't get to try food, but sure enjoyed a ten minute break watching people and boats go by. Very nice folks. Thanks!

Spotted this place when out for a walk. At first thought it was just a tackle shack. Was delighted to find a spot to sit outside with our dog, and enjoy and meal and brew. Other guests were either locals or visitors like us, a friendly vibe. The kitchen closes at 7ish, so get there before. Sausages were delish. The only sides they have are a bag of chips. We brought our own chips to enjoy. It was perfect sitting on the bay, enjoying the nice weather and people watching or talking with others. Will definetly return when on Shelter Island again.

Very small place with GREAT sandwich, I had the Italian sausage, one of the best I ever had and I've had many. Large selection of local beers on tap, 6 or 7 tables outside on the Bay, great view. Warning, at this writing they do not open till 3pm weekdays.

Stopped here w/my teen, ate some edamame and kimchi, small selection of eats, but good selection of beers and they even had wine (decent wine & served in a mug) Brad was really nice, hope to make it back again and try the brunch or a shrimp po boy.

Good selection of beers. I had a hot dog that was a little odd. Not sure about having kimchi on a dog. But other than that, it was good.
Beer and Brats
Unique place on the pier brats are delicious and the selection of beers are good and cold friendly staff
