Great cocktails & nice vibes

By vinospizza |

Stopped in here with a conference group after dinner at Provisional next door. Great ambiance and service, and the cocktails were wonderful. The server had an impeccable memory for handling a large group with some fussy requests.

Beautiful Classy and Upscale. I loved it.

I can not say enough good things about this little bar. The decor is classy with a 1930-ish vibe. Black and white on the bar TV. Faux books for presenting the bill. Clean and comfortable. The bartenders - Josh and Richard were very nice. Shake your hand - nice to meet you - kind of gentlemen. The drinks. WOW! I ordered a vodka drink that was almost too beautiful to drink with the flowered paper straw and the fresh edible flowers on top. I think this will be a "must stop in" spot when I'm in the Gaslamp. The bar is attached the the Pendry Hotel - a boutique hotel my daughter has stayed at in the past. Hence the recommendation to stop in and try the bar. The restrooms are clean and well appointed

Hip bar in Gaslamp that isn't too Hipster

I stopped by Fifth and Rose three times on my trip. Twice was with clients and another was after dinner. For the two client meetings, they were able to accommodate our seating easily and were all over our drink orders (an iced tea was almost $5 - ouch) and it was a really good spot to have a meaningful conversation. The later night stop, I sat with my buddy at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and funny. The drinks were suitably strong and not too crazy expensive. There are a LOT of Millennials with unfortunate tattoos. Not as many "man bun" hairdos thankfully.

Unwelcoming service and unpleasant tasting cocktails

By Erin L |

We stopped in for an after dinner drink around 10pm. There were several employees around the bar, chatting. They saw us waiting to be seated, but carried on with their conversation. Their disregard, while not busy at all, sent a message that they did not want us there Eventually a 3rd employee (who was nice) sat us with the promise someone would be over to help us. Another 20 minutes later, we were about to walk out because no one greeted our table (while the restaurant only had 3 tables, and there were still employees chatting at the bar. Then a server graced us with her presence. We each ordered a different specialty cocktail from their menu. We tried each others' drinks and agree they were all unpleasant tasting (and, accordingly, overpriced!).

Great spot for fancy drinks

Great drinks. Server was friendly and efficient. Did not have to wait long to get our drinks for a party of 6. Fun way to wait for dinner out in Gaslamp.

Superb Bar

We popped into Fifth & Rose for a few drinks and were very happy with this place: Superb location, you can sit inside or out: Superb drinks menu, good efficient staff and excellent drinks: Def. worth a visit on your next trip to San Diego

Fun and lively

By Lawrence2300 |

My first visit happened to be the same afternoon as the Kentucky Derby. Staff was all dressed accordingly, and there was a special menu of bourbon-based cocktails. All were quite authentic. The seats are comfortable and the bar actually has a large seating area around the back. Apart from the special menu, there are a dozen wines by the glass, all reasonably priced. Great atmosphere.

Unbelievably well crafted cocktails

By KCofSD |

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab a drink. Their cocktail menu is unique. Our server was great and very helpful as she guided us through some suggestions. They source their ingredients based on the season and change their menu accordingly. If you're looking for a seriously good cocktail with unique flavors in an elegant setting, be sure to stop by.

Fun and chill place

What a fun night. Trevor was our bartender and was the best. He was so helpful, suggested great drinks, and made some super tasty drinks as well. Would go back anytime he is there. Loved the atmosphere and ambience.

Fifth & Rose

By Andrew F |

My wife and I did not stay at the hotel but we did visit the Fifth & Rose bar in their lobby. Trevor was our bartender & he gave us an amazing experience and was also really knowledgeable about the excellent cocktails he made for us. We loved the atmosphere of the hotel and it was a very welcoming environment. Now my wife and I are considering staying at The Pendry next time we visit San Diego.

I loved the jalapeño tequila cocktail and the hummus. Great ambiance. Would come here even if I weren't staying at the Pendry!

Don’t miss Sunday’s 5:30-8:30 pm

By Mark W |

Stumbled upon 5th & Rose in the Pendry Hotel in the heart of the vibrant Gaslamp District of San Diego after a day on Coronado —very glad we didn’t miss it. Classic and vintage cocktails abound in this uniquely chic “corner bar” where outdoor meets indoor. Can’t beat the Vesper martinis and excellent service. Lots of choices around the Pendry property. You can’t go wrong here!

Good cocktails.

Very sophisticated venue with a good selection of quite unusual drinks on offer. Sadly they didn't have the ingredients to make my first choice but the alternative was very good. Quite expensive even by California standards. The drinks are good however and a lot of work goes into them.

Great service!

By Andy Baker |

I know that San Diego is famous for its choice of beers. The problem I had was knowing which one to choose. Not a problem here as my server brought over a choice of beers for me to try until I chose the one i liked. What a great service and nothing was too much trouble.

Swanky, Sexy, Unpretentious, and will make you feel Boss.

Within the Pendry Hotel in the Gaslamp District, Fifth and Rose welcomes you to a lovely location filled with delicious drinks, food, incredible atmosphere and hospitality galore. Everyone is as nice as can be and great to get along with. Since it's connected to the Pendry it's also a perfect spot to meet up with friends or even someone new ;)

Very Good Cocktail Bar

By Jeff K |

Nice bar with an excellent liquor assortment. Our principal server, Isabella, was excellent. We ordered some small plates of food. The food was very good except for the hummus which no one liked. Atmosphere was nice although the music was a little loud. Definitely worth a stop if you’re nearby, especially if you’re staying at the Pendry.

Great Location to Enjoy Cocktails

By Michele C |

The waitstaff are awesome. You can choose to sit outside and watch the world go by while enjoying wonderful beverages. Average cocktail price is $13.00. You may also order food as well. Located in the Gaslamp District so close to lots of action.

Wow! What a cocktail experience!

By PB3 |

Wow! What a cocktail experience! My girlfriend and I were treated exceptionally well. Our waitress knew all the specfics of the signature, seasonal cocktails. The ambiance was amazing, dark, and relaxing. We were never rushed. Simply a fantastic experience. It helped make the trip to San Diego much more enjoyable and memorable!

An oasis of pleasure

By Captaintransplant |

Walking down Fifth on a busy Saturday night, several places we tried were full or had a long wait - fortunately for us - because when we walked through the door of Fifth and Rose, we simply relaxed and were looked after impeccably. The staff were attentive and helpful. The cocktail list was interesting and very reasonably priced. We loved it so much we left dinner early the next night to return again - but we were too late for the live music and had eaten so couldn’t try the food. The grapefruit used to prepare a garnish was sitting on the bar, so I asked for a Hemingway Daiquiri which appeared straight away and from then on the evening just got better. If you are visiting San Diego, you will go up (or down) Fifth. If you like, or love, cocktails, Fifth and Rose must be on your list. Please try the food and get there for the Sunday evening live music for me!

Lobby Bar

By costatlanta |

The lobby bar is a great upscale lounge for meeting friends and to have small group meetings Expansive drink menu provides a wide range of favorite brands and speciality cocktails What makes this place is the location and the view from the bar. Watch the gaslamp crowds from your table and just people watch

What a find....

Patrick absolutely rocked our evening! Ambience 10.... service 11.... quality and small quantities were perfect... you need to try this place. Crab cakes and pita bread with hummus were amazing.

Fifth and Rose

By Claire H |

Trevor at Fifth and Rose was so welcoming and went above and beyond to make my experience amazing. I enjoyed the personalized cocktails and ambiance he created for everyone at the bar. I will absolutely be back when I’m in San Diego and will recommend to anyone I know visiting the area!

Happy Anniversary

By Michael G |

My wife and I celebrated 5 years of marriage, recently. We stayed in San Diego’s Gaslamp District for a weekend celebration of cocktails and dining. We were out on Friday evening, on our way to a reservation and walked by Fifth and Rose. Justin invited us in for a drink, but we didn’t really have the time. He was so engaging, that we decided to make sure we went back on Saturday. He remembered us, welcomed us back and seated us. Maria was our server. She asked about our stay and visit. She was engaging and provided excellent service and made sure that our anniversary was special. She went above and beyond! The ambience is sophisticated and so were the cocktails and appetizers. Thanks to all for contributing to a wonderful weekend!

Midday Bites and Beers

By luv2travl003 |

Having just arrived in San Diego, and with our hotel room not yet ready, we went to the lounge for a bite of lunch and a beer. The bar is very pleasant, with entry both from the street and from the Pendry Hotel. Endive Caesar salad was an interesting presentation - several spears of endive (and possibly some raddichio?) ticked into a bowl, with the dressing on the bottom. You scoop up some dressing with the greenery. It was interesting, and tasty, but overpriced at $12. Ditto for the ahi tataki - very good, but a small portion for $18. Beer selection was quite good.

First night in San Diego

We stopped in for wine, a really cool place and the service was impeccable. This is a must stop. I love this place.

Delicious Drinks!

And the bartenders weren't so bad either. Good looking and friendly. We stopped by more than once and I look forward to returning.

quick drink

up scale bar with a wide variety of drink offerings. A little pricey but what isn't in this area of San Diego? We had two glasses of Merlot which they picked... I will say I was impressed with the smoothness of the wine.
