Best fresh OJ

By Goebone |

Funky charm and awesome food. PB at its best. Fig stuffed French toast delicious. Get there early and avoid the crowds

Great food, family friendly, nice outdoor setting.

By dglage |

Went here with my wife and daughter. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. We have a 1 yr old and she was right at home in the open air seating under the fig tree. Try the stuffed French Toast.

Breakfast....YUM!

By Riley1956 |

Found the gem and glad we did! Healthy and tasty....now that is a great combo. Lots to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Too bad not open for dinner. I'd definitely would come back.

You just have to go to this place

By Paul F |

Not great views but it is such a great place to start the day. The breakfast is fantastic with the "breakfast sushi" yes sushi being a great way to eat bacon and eggs. Can't fault this place and will definitely return esp. As so much of the menu can be had gluten free... Come here!!!

Casual dining in quiet setting

By Sheila R |

Pleasant place to meet up with friends in a quiet, laid back setting for breakfast or lunch. There is no pressure in vacating the table quickly. The menu is rich with good quality food and interesting offerings. The crabs cakes are tasty.

Love this place!

By Ben C |

We ate brunch here twice during our 5 day stay it was so good. The stuffed french toast was the best I've ever had!

Adorable and Delicious

By Alison F |

I don't know if I've ever been to a more adorable restaurant! Every table feels like you're sitting in a cool tree house. But not only is it a cute spot, the food is amazing! There may be a long wait, but it is so worth it. I can't wait to go back on my next trip to SD.

Great brunch

By Karen N |

Great brunch menu and a fabulous bloody mary. Have been here a few times and have always come away sated. Can't go wrong here. Only had a 10-15 minute wait.

Nice breakfasat surprise

By DKTravelerMD |

Great breakfast selection and everything tasted great. Lots of food for the money and try out the "Man Candy" bacon surprise. It was great. Don't let the appearance fool you, this place is worth finding.

Best GF toast ever

By Cara Holland |

The place is awesome from the moment you walk in & pick your own seat. Huge delicious coffee, I had the stuffed french toast with GF toast it was the best GF i have ever had. My partner had Meatloaf Scrambled eggs & loved it. Highly recommend.

Great Service, Fabulous food, Love the atmosphere

By Peterzoner |

Great Service, Fabulous food, Love the atmosphere. Been coming here since opening (2008). Back then, it was an uncovered, open air restaurant. It was closed in winter, (too cold) and any other time it rained. Now they have covered seating areas, a porch that can be enclosed with plastic window coverings and much more choice of menu items. My favorite has been the Stuffed French toast with brioche bread, strawberries, mango, mascarpone cheese and of course fig jam. Their flavored coffees/lattes are great too (Honey Lavender Latte is my wife's favorite). Don't forget to get the man-candy bacon, yummy! Expect a wait if during breakfast and lunch times, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Be patient, it's worth the wait. Oh, don't forget to try their seasonal dishes...

Yummy breskfast

By D P |

Excellent coffee and everything breakfast- French toast is fantastic. Enjoyed the bacon too. This place is dog and kid friendly.

Good food, bad service

By Melissarosestark |

The food was really good and the portions are generous. The service was really poor. They seemed really busy and really understaffed. We had to ask for silverware and other basics and everything took forever! Maybe we'd get take out from there again.

Pistachio Dream!!!

By Cinthya D |

We been at the FTC multiple times, one of our favorite is the crab and lobster Benedict, but this time we try something new and we were in heaven!!! PISTACHIO PANKES are super moist, fluffy and full of flavors!! originally they come with ice cream, we ask instead mascarpone cheese, is the BEST!!!

Great for Sunday breakfast.

By 1129path |

Great little place in PB. Unusual menu, big portions, enough to share. Great bloody Mary's. Only issue was the celery in the Bloody Mary was dirty :(. Otherwise it was great.

California cuisine- friendly service in Hillcrest

By Tishlf |

Great eatery for a late breakfast, brunch or dinner. Friendly staff and adequate service. Savory salads, paninis, side orders. Love the man candy and eggs Benedict. Nice atmosphere, too.

Best Breakfast in Semi Outdoor Setting

By Renee W |

The Fig Tree Café on Cass St. is like visiting the patio of a rustic beach cottage. Front patio is covered and protected by plastic windows and the back patio is open to blue skies covered with roof beams and shady trees and vines. The menu satisfies all dietary needs and is delicious as well as reasonably priced. The service is excellent and you can bring your well-behaved dog who will be given its own water dish on request. We enjoyed the best eggs benedict in several styles and the veggie scramble will please any vegetarian. Portions are hearty so come hungry.

Beautiful setting, disappointing service

By Smokinboles |

First time at The Fig Tree Cafe today. We arrived at 9 on a Saturday morning and waited 15 mins for a table. The setting was certainly nice, with the huge ficus trees outside the cafe. My wife ordered a Bloody Mary while I got a Chai iced tea. Unfortunately I was brought a regular Iced Tea and the Bloody Mary was not built as advertised. The drinks took 12 mins to arrive. Moving on to our entrees, we ordered the American breakfast and a Monterey scramble. I asked for no peppers in my scramble. It took another took another 20 min for our food to arrive. The food was average at best. My scramble arrived laced with peppers but it took so long to get, I didn't feel like waiting for a reorder. Not our favorite breakfast in the area, as the food we ordered was not as requested and the wait for food was way too long.

FOOD WITH CHARMING ATMOSPHERE

By Realestategoddess |

The food is fresh and high quality. You can sit in the tree shaded courtyard or the main dining area. Its a refreshing change of pace and delightful. Its well worth the wait for a table.

Great breakfast

By nydrina |

Good breakfast selections as well as fresh juices. Sausage and egg sandwich was large and delicious. They have gluten free bread options also. Service was excellent. Will return

Good for a breakfast change

By OutInTheCrowd |

This place has very interesting menu choices, and all options can be made gluten free, some can be made vegan (obviously, don't order bacon and ask for it to be vegan...). I've ordered breakfast items as well as lunch items, and I have to say the chicken (or was it turkey?) and avocado sandwich is my favorite. It comes with potatoes that are delicious on the side. They offer shots of antioxidants, such as ginger, as well as morning cocktails. Expect a wait, but when a place is good, you can figure there will be a wait! Lots of dogs around too, so friendly for that. The menu items are more adult, but what kid doesn't like pancakes? It's in an old house with interesting decor, so always something to look at. Try it out!

Very Nice Little Place for Breakfast

By Mohmahmom |

We tried the Fig Tree on our last morning in San Diego, unfortunately, because it was one of our best breakfasts on our recent trip. Really good coffee, delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, and the food was very good and plentiful. Service was good, too, if a bit on the slow side. The atmosphere was great, as well - as another poster said, you do feel as though you are in a tree house in someone's back yard. We will definitely be back on our next visit to San Diego/Pacific Beach.

Eat under the trees and walk/ride from the beach

By jbrodydhh |

The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. The food is delicious and the portions are large. If you want to save money, try splitting something. There is even a taster for caffiene afficianados. Try a 4 oz. sample of latte, mocha and Mexican moca. Gluten-free, veggie, seafood, carnivor, no problem. Ride your bike along the beach to Law Street, then meander your way up to Tourmaline and Cass. It's shady, outdoors and feel almost like you're in a treehouse.

Breakfast

By lambert425 |

Ordered Traditional Bennie, I have never ordered Eggs Benedict with such a small amount of hollandaise on it, it didn't even cover the egg. Asked for some more sauce after pointing out the lack of hollandaise and they actually charged me for it. Also got an order of breakfast sushi, the plate was so skinny that multiple times when we tried to get the meal on a fork the food would slide onto the table, the entire meal was very frustrating. Good coffee but very disappointing meal.We won't be back.

French toast...with potatoes!

By Cindy A |

It takes a while to make a selection from Fig Tree's extensive menu, especially at breakfast/brunch. The solution: A Mexican mocha and potatoes with arugula, truffle oil and parmesan cheese. The rich Mexican mocha is one of those you wish you had a vat of so you could just dive in and luxuriate. And the potatoes? They fill in the "cracks" while you're agonizing over your entrée selection. The French toast is a wonder -- and if you can't make up your mind, there's always the trio to share. The bonus: you can order it with their marvelous gluten-free raisin bread! I ventured out on my last visit and ordered the short rib "bennie". It's the only dish I've ever been disappointed with here. The ribs, which should have been unctuous bites of beef, were smothered in an inedible tomato sauce. And yes, as another reviewer noted, there's not a lot of hollandaise sauce -- but they will bring you some on the side. (I'm just guessing here, but the hollandaise didn't taste of butter as it should. Perhaps the while "bennie" menu needs a fresh look.) The majority of seating is out of doors, so bring a wrap if it's cool.

Good food and location

By Becky H |

Had the crab cake sandwich and truffle fries. Both were great. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy their patio dining. Consistently good service every time I go here.

Best breakfast in PB, Vegan friendly

By Trummerflute |

This was my third trip to a Fig Tree and the second here. We came to celebrate my mom's 84th birthday on a busy Sunday morning (she loves French Toast), and they were so very accommodating! The service was superb, and the menu has something every breakfast lover could want. I'm a vegan, so I asked for the Huevos Rancheros with the delicious black beans and no egg, and they threw in avocado and tomato at no extra charge. They serve Cafe Moto (a local coffee roaster, the best), the decor is charming, the portions generous. Did I appreciate the raining pepper tree on my head and in my food? Nah, it felt like camping, but that's just me. A bit off the beaten path, but worth it.

Breakfast

By Jim S |

Great breakfast spot, awesome meal, good menu, interesting environment, a little rustic but nice, very friendly staff, go early on a Sunday as it lines up after 9:30

Delicous breakfast

By Zaza |

Staff was very nice and i had a delicous breakfast. it was a bit expensive, but absolutely worth it. its all fresh products. Would come back.

Food cold and poor service

By J D |

My food was pretty cold They brought pancakes with no butter They forgot my coffee They forgot to give me my card back after paying

Love, love love

By Jenn |

We came here because of all their gluten free options. OMG, my palette was not prepared for the flavors. We went here 3 times. The first time I got the Gluten free California Eggs Bennie. What a treat. Portions were good, food was even better. The 2nd meal was the Gluten free stuffed french toast with mascapone, mango and strawberries with orange segment syrup. This was amazing. They used a thick sliced gluten free raisin bread. The line up on this day was huge, but I would of waited days just to sit there again. If you are looking for a place to eat, to enjoy the atsmosphere and want an experience, come here.

Okay food but nothing special with rude service.

By Tuuli |

Veggie omelet was fine. Benedict was not special. Service was rude. Toilet was not clean. Would not think it’s worth the money.

GREAT Breakfast

By KayteeHC |

Coffee is hot and strong. Staff is freindly and informed. Stopped in on a cool Friday morning and waitress turned on the outdoor heater for us. Veggie omelette was fabulous and my dining companion loved his waffle with apples. We love to visit this location when in town.

Breakfast

By Sataviolet |

Place is filthy. Breakfast took 50 minutes to arrive. Eggs bennie had about a tablespoon of sauce on each egg. Lobster crab bennie was a small pattie, very little of either crab or lobster. Coffee cup had 3 chips on rim. Two dogs also at tables with patrons. Forget this place😝

Sunday Brunch

By MNikki19 |

My last day in San Diego visiting a friend who lives there took me here. Let me tell you this places was great! I loved the open air patio with all the lush greenery surrounding the outdoor area. It provided such a calm and peaceful atmosphere. We started with the flight of fresh squeezed antioxidant juice shots with Goji Berry, Acai Berry, Mangosteen Berry. They also had in house made Kombucha which I love but I went with there Man Candy Mary(Bloody mary with candied bacon!!) It was delicious!! For eats I tried the Soy chorizo Scramble which was out of this world good! I'm from Texas and love the real thing but this was pretty tasty!! It could fool some of the best meat eaters!! My dish came with homemade house potatoes that were super crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. Top to bottom this place is great! Can't wait to go back!!

Bloody Marys and Peppermint Tea!

By Dawn H |

We had breakfast here twice last week while in San Diego. It is a fun vibe little place with outdoor seating They make fabulous Bloody Marys and the peppermint tea was wonderful!! We had the Eggs Benedict and it was made to perfection. The ambiance is lovely and the setting is cozy.

Great Breakfast

By Michael L |

Great breakfast. Great seating in the back. Food was quick and good. We will be back. Great atmosphere.

Great for Sunday brunch or a leisurely weekday lunch

By StreathamVoyager |

Came here twice while in San Diego, firstly for Sunday brunch with friends, secondly for a weekday lunch with colleagues (we had an extended lunch break!). Both were excellent, although the service was a bit slow on Sunday - but it was very crowded! The servers were friendly and chatty, and knew the menu, explaining what was offered. Beautiful garden setting, in front and out the back of the building.

Banana Fosters French Toast

By Vkellz |

Can you say mouth watering!? Being from the state of La, who would have thought you would find such scrumptious banana fosters french toast on the west coast! Please check out this quaint little cafe not far from Pacific Beach! A quick 15 minute walk from my hotel to here was well worth it! Wish I could remember that sweet waitress name, but being that I'm just having time to write review, I'm disappointed that her name slipped my mind!:-( I'm a stickler for customer service, and she definitly represented the cafe properly. Never the less, the atmosphere is so friendly and breakfast was delicious! Not a pet owner, but how cute to see patrons relaxing on patio with their furry friends.

Fabulous Breakfast — Food and Ambience

By Adrienne M |

This is a hidden gem — a bit hard to find, but worth it! Had a business breakfast there and knew the moment I walked in that it would be great. The place has the Pacific Beach feel, laid back and beachy, and the food and service were both great. I had banana pancakes that featured slices of banana inside the "cakes" rather than on top of them. Yum! The two others in my group were equally enthusiastic about the bananas foster French toast and eggs Benedict. I will say I like my bacon a bit more crispy, but that was a minor detail given the relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. Definitely will be back.

Breucreu

By Breucreu |

Totally unexpected gem for breakfast. The homemade coffee cake was to die for. Highly recommend this place.

Good food, drinks and service. Some seating areas not so great

By Tracy T |

Food, drinks and service were very good but we sat in a back room which was too claustrophobic no air and too many flies. I would go back, but make sure to wait for a better seating area

Breakfast

By Sabrina M |

Cute little café with atmosphere. I like the wooden tables, the plants, trees and the set up. Breakfast is good and the coffee is strong. The coffee could be made with more love, maybe a barista would be a good fit for the café. I can recommend this place, even though there are even more exciting options like Urth Café in Pasadena.

Awful Inattentive Inedible = Negative 5 Stars

By BoardingPass827467 |

This place flat out sucks. Maitre D gave away our table then sat us in a dumpy corner where we were ignored by callous staff. Food was awful. Disappointing is an understatement. Burned pancakes uncooked grilled cheese (seriously how do you screw up grilled cheese?!?!) zero QC of what’s coming out of that kitchen. Do not eat here. They could care less about their costumers and I wouldn’t trust them frankly. Awful.

Food was Very Good

By Jesus O |

Had a bit of a wait, people were friendly, nice atmosphere. The food was good, enjoyed the coffee. The breakfast menu was excellent, enjoyed the eggs and potatoes.

A breakfast must...really a "must"!

By TouristWhisperer |

Was recommended from the hotel. It was a few minute drive and thank god we did it! Amazing breakfast... The Soy Chorizo Scramble is to die for! Fresh guacamole and home made corn tortillas! We will be back in the morning. 5.5 stars out of 5.

While away the afternoon....

By kate b |

Pacific Beach is very busy and not in a good way. There are moments when you want to escape the crush of the youthful crowd and beach people...and Fig Tree is the ideal place to go. Sit on a large, shaded patio and simply enjoy breakfast in the afternoon...or a cool drink while feeling the sea breeze. Best part - you can bring your dog. Don't order the iced tea...they make it so strong, it tastes bitter.

A Small Place with Great Food

By sap2work@yahoo.com |

Went there for breakfast with a friend. Every time I visit SD, we go there. I ordered the veggie scramble, but with just spinach. It was delicious, and more t Han enough. My friend had the French toast with strawberries and cream. Said it was "the best" . It was busy for a weekday morning, but the service was excellent. It is the best place for breakfast in PB !!!

The Hash though.....wow.

By Kristen R |

The hashbrown thing they made was out of this world. Stuffed french toast -figs and ricotta. Love this place...able to sit outside because the weather is always great here.

Gem in Pacific Beach

By Theodore M |

The Fig Tree has a lovely patio serving delicious lunches and breakfasts. It's like a hidden gem when you visit. Service was good, friendly and helpful. The food on 2 visits was very good.

GREAT PLACE for lunch

By Evan G |

My wife and I were in SD for some vacation time, happened by the Fig Tree. Both of us had great Panini sandwiches plus Mediterranean salad. Great service. Great Food, A fun and busy place.

Nice Place at the Beach

By Alice S |

OK- Expect to pay $2.90 for a cup of coffee, but if you can get past that, this is a good breakfast place in PB. More of a local hang than tourist-oriented but friendly, welcoming wait staff and creative menu.

Gluten-free heaven

By Guy M |

Many gluten free choices on the menu. My wife and I shared the French Toast sampler. WOW. The price was very reasonable. Highly recommended this place.

Delicious food and awesome restaurant vibe!!

By Hilary T |

Fig Tree Cafe was delicious!! We really enjoyed our brunch here! Only complaint is that the service was a little slow. Definitely a cool spot and great food!

Yummy Yummy for all tummies

By madsenlizen |

We had a delicious breakfast at the Fig Tree. All of us had dietary restrictions from dairy to gluten to eggs. We all had something delicious. My husband had the gluten free stuffed french toast, I had the short rib benne, my sister had the bananas foster french toast gluten free. It was 7/3 and I think much of the kitchen staff and service staff had taken the day off so service was atrocious. Our server was even disgusted at how many times the kitchen did our order wrong, or served it cold. I have only heard good things about this place though and all the locals who were eating there said it was a fluke day, so I will still give them a 4/5. It was so yummy.

Eclectic Funky Find with Good Food

By FranciePants317 |

We were visiting our daughter staying in Pacific Beach area of San Diego within walking distance of this fun little find. We had breakfast there several times during the week we stayed at this rental. The food is organic and local, service was prompt and friendly each time we ate here. We were never rushed and the decor is funky but comfortable. The way the restaurant is setup you feel like you are in a jungle. I ordered the American Breakfast, 3 eggs, bacon, home fries, and an English muffin. My husband had the strawberry pancakes which were not just topped with strawberries but were also cooked inside. Everything was cooked the way we ordered and was served hot. All were delicious, I would definitely recommend this place.

Very much open

By NBRosen |

It says closed but it was definitely open. Great food, had the shared plates with a mix of pancakes and French toast. Awesome ambiance

Meatloaf hash with spinach, over east eggs. Yummy.

By shari s |

Will be back. Delish. I ate it all before i could snap a pic. Im way too picky so for me this is a phenominal review. Servers were busy,, so was slow and food was a tad cooler than id like but server apologized for being so busy and was very nice. Im cool with that. Enjoy.

Best new place for breakfast in LaJolla

By April S |

My family and I had an excellent first time experience for Sunday breakfast. I had the California Bennie and would recommend it. My girls had banana pancakes and the serving was huge. Coffee is delicious. My hubby had the traditional eggs benedict. We will be back. The neighborhood is quiet and the vibe is good.

Wonderful natural outdoor setting and lots of gluten free options

By MyCuppaJo |

I love the setup of this restaurant! The entire restaurant is pretty much outside (though covered and enclosed in some parts), with lots of trees, plants, and natural materials that just feel soothing and relaxing. My only complaint would be the plastic windows enclosing some of the front of the restaurant - makes the air too still which makes it feel hotter and invites flies so I'd recommend finding a spot in back or up front out from under cover. We came to this Fig Tree because we loved the one in Hillcrest for dinner. We came here for lunch, I had their take on a Cobb salad and really liked the taste profile, it was made with spinach, eggs, real bacon, marinated mushrooms, feta and tomatoes and dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette (a touch too much dressing for me, next time I'll ask for light dressing or for it on the side). My husband had the crabcake sandwich, which he loved (his side salad was perfectly dressed). I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to dine al fresco, especially if they have gluten-free needs. Now I just need to hit up Fig Tree for breakfast! That seems to be what everyone adores about the cafes.

The Place to Go

By eroth40 |

The decor is modern, yet warm and inviting. It will take yo a few minutes to decide what to eat: too many wonderful choices and someting for EVERY taste Food temp was right on target...not just my plate by everyone elses. Signature drink if you dare and like flavos exploding in your mouth (Im not that daring, my husband is): Daddy's Pepper Price in complete accord with size of plates.

Great Place for Breakfast!

By wanderlust2413 |

Visited this place two times on two different visits to PB and it never disappointed! The food is great and the atmosphere is so nice and relaxing!! Staff is friendly and attentive!

Great place, good tender ribs and excellent asparagus risotto

By Robert K |

We had dinner here (one of University Ave) during our stay in San Diego. Great place. Excellent service provided by a nice Italian lady from Rome. Appetizers were a roasted beet salad with goat cheese + mixed greens + scallions and a Vegan Napoleon (artichoke + red bell pepper + portobello + eggplant) I had delicious slow cooked ribs in its own gravy/sauce. My girlfriend had very tasty beef tenderloin medaillons with portabella and asparagus risotto. Fine and diverse wine menu too. Only one tiny footnote: no alcohol outside. But no worries, they have a nice small patio-like place with 3 tables where you sit sort of outside (it's open/no windows) and can drink all the wine you want :) Absolutely worth a visit!

Never been so excited about a menu

By Brandy R |

I couldn’t figure out what I wanted because there were so many options! I got the valentines French toast combo with eggs and bacon, and a mimosa flight, which was so delicious. Next time I’m definitely getting the breakfast sushi role! We had an amazing experience!

Great food and coffee

By MARIO A |

Friendly staff great food and coffee. very cozy location and building. The only complain that I had were the prices. I found it to be very expensive. Paid and average of $$$16 per person for breakfast with a drink.

Dietary Accommodations!!

By Jennifer M |

Fantastic food for all diets: omnivore, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free! I had the vegan lemon French toast, and it was amazing! The coffee, tea and hot cocoa came in huge mugs. The only down side to our experience was the bathrooms could only be accessed by going up two stairs. This was very difficult for my elderly father.

Great food menu - fresh, organic and original

By DavidHCA |

They were a little short staffed on our visit but still got great service, lovely location and the food was amazing - really foodie paradise.

Can’t wait to go back

By JCMJE5 |

Loved everything about this place - the food, the vibe, the staff, drinks, etc. Had a lovely meal- bananas foster French toast, omelette, eggs Benedict, spicy chix sandwich. All were good. Split a flight of antioxidant shots. Fun & tasty! Plan to go for breakfast again today 😊

Great Breakfast!

By MnMimi |

We ate at the Fig Tree in Liberty Station. It was a little confusing when you first arrive as to where the entrance was but we soon figured it out. We had the Veggie Scramble. It was delicious and tasted fresh! Coffee was good! We didn’t eat on the patio because it was cool out. The inside was small but the service was great! No booths, all tables and bar stools. We would come back!

Dog-Friendly

By Henry L |

Mainly outdoor patio seating (there are a few tables inside). Service is great and waiters give you the attention you deserve. The entree's were fairly priced ($8-12) for breakfast. The food was cooked well, although my omelet was not as hot as I wanted because they bring out your table's order all at once. Ambiance is great with the covered patio and shade, but it looks like they need to clean the dust off a little bit and trim the bushes. Great for brunch or a date. One great feature is that they allow dogs. They even bring out a bowl of water for your pup if you request it.

Why Do Gourmet Restaurants Skimp on Good Bread?

By melgru |

Great reviews. Unique sounding menu. We were prepared to wait as it was a popular place. We arrived at the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon around 1130 and there was a line of a about 20+ people. Young crowd mostly millinnial's gathered under the four huge fig trees waiting for a table. The wait quoted for 40 minutes and stretch out to 55 minutes but people watching was fun and this is San Diego. The wait staff was "cool" and friendly and the tables were aaah funky? We watch a couple of spiders about a foot from our table weaving a web and we wished we hadn't looked under our table as it was full of paper trash and leaves on the wood floors. We ordered from the unique menu and 50 minutes later the food arrived. It was different and unique I must say. My meat loaf hash with three eggs over medium was very spicy and I loved its flavor. Couple of unique things though; couldn't find the meatloaf in the has as it had only red potato chunks and one small piece of toast? The coffee was good however. Now about the cost for all of this gourmet breakfast goodness. For three adults and one child(one pancake) with tip $82.00. Will we be back? Nope.

Great spot

By Stephanie R |

This brunch was incredible!! We got a French toast sampler to share which was so delicious and I also had a short rib eggs benedict which was cooked perfectly. They offer mimosa flights and give you giant cups of coffee. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely recommend!!

A plus in Liberty Station

By Taughboyne |

After a day in Balboa Park we had dinner here and enjoyed the experience as well as the food. I chose the pappardelle with braised duck, feta cheese and arugala; it was richer than I bargained for and so filling that I couldn't face the proffered - and highly recommended - fig bread pudding dessert. Plenty of parking is available nearby and the restaurant is tucked away in an inner courtyard of a large Spanish-style commercial building that contains Trader Joe's and a variety of other eating and service establishments. The cafe has a small inside seating area and a fairly commodious exterior patio under a lighted fig? tree. The style is slightly California funky with jelly jar glasses and hand scribed menu boards and the waiter offered helpful suggestions about appropriate dishes. I'd certainly return for more.

Fun, fast, and fabulous food

By Emilie M |

Don't let a line of folks in front discourage you from waiting for a table at this restaurant. The line moves fast and there are more tables in back that you can't see. The breakfast menu was delicious. I had the special, "Greek Scramble," made with egg whites and served with potatoes. Delicious! San Diego has so many good weather days and the patio out back takes advantage of that. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. I will definitely return here because I saw other appealing food choices that I wanted to order!

Amazing food! Great Service

By d0r0thyg924 |

We had a terrific Father's Day Breakfast here. Service and server were great. 40 minute wait but worth it.

Nice Lunch with our dog on patio

By Rick N |

Came for Lunch on a Wednesday and came after 1 pm so it was slow. Brought our little dog which was nice on patio. Sandwiches are large and can be shared, We had the Grilled Turkey and truffle fries. Chicken tortilla soup was tasty as well. I know on weekends it gets busy and breakfasts here are good as well.

$5 breakfast special!

By haymaker58 |

You can't beat this for quality, quantity and price. Monday through Friday breakfast specials, which change daily, are probably the best value in all of San Diego. There are currently three locations around town and I recommend them all. The specials usually are some type of egg dish, with delicious rosemary potatoes and your choice of toast. They also have a nice selection of breakfast choices.

Amazing breakfast spot!!

By Ursula Albertson |

Too many choices to pick from! Have never seen such a variety of options for French toast, Eggs Bene.... the bacon was made with brown sugar and Paprika. And the Bloody Mary’s were like a salad in a glass!! Beautiful! Can’t wait to visit San Diego again!

great restaurant, excellent food and service

By gals3 |

Went for breakfast, with a daughter who is gluten free they had many options. Clean, great service and cool coffee cup. Generous portions- would go back again.

Horrible service

By gzau |

They placed it's in the back which is a nice shared area, but then they promptly FORGOT ABOUT US. No body send us. I tried to wave someone down but nobody looked our way. Food is still good but just terrible service

Lacking staff - could be a GREAT place

By cgarockyhill |

Had the tomato Basil bisque and tahini chicken salad. Amazing. The experience has dampened by the slow service. And this mid day on a Friday, too.

want a simple brunch with excellent service? Here is your spot

By Noturfriend |

Menu is simple, everything is fresh yes that means the eggs and veggies, oh and they have amazing bacon! The waiters all help each other and will make suggestions if offered. I visit a weekend brunch here 2 x a month.

This hidden gem has amazing

By Becks013 |

This hidden gem has amazing food! We went for breakfast - ordered the non vegan lemon French toast and a piña colada mimosa. BOTH were amazing. Plan on sitting and staying awhile. It’s prepared fresh, and the staff gives plenty of time for enjoying each bite - a little like Europe where the staff doesn’t talk to you every ten minutes. It’s a definite keeper.

Great Breakfast, Best Gluten Free Bread Ever!

By Ben F |

Really tasty Gluten Free options. Satisfying portions. Great Potatoes, pancakes, lunch sandwiches. Antioxidant shots where great!!

Like eating under the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse

This was a cute eatery. It’s called the Fig Tree and two enormous Benjamin Ficus trees form a pretty and expansive canopy over this outdoor dining venue giving a sense of being in a treehouse. The cafe is surrounded by roll up windscreens as it can be chilly in the shade without direct sunlight. Literally, lots of nooks and crannies here (tables, nooks). I liked my huevos rancheros!

Something Different

By parkroadrunner |

My husband and I had breakfast in this delightful café located in a neighborhood near the beach. Menu has lots of varieties so there's something for everyone. Didn't like the fact that pets were in the eating areas though it was partially open-air seating and they were well behaved.

Great Relaxing Lunch Spot

By Papillion_NE_girl |

Great lunch spot for a relaxing lunch. Server was a lot of fun, very outgoing, and the meal was yummy. Seafood eggs Benedict and tomato soup two highlights. Very casual atmosphere.

Breakfast treat!

By Sue Ellen J |

We came here for breakfast and loved the atmosphere (under a huge leafy tree). The service was excellent, the coffee was great, and the food delicious! Our daughter had the Monterey Scramble and loved it. I had the strawberry French Toast and did not even need the syrup with it, because the whipped cream was so yummy. My husband had a egg, bacon, breakfast potato plate and ate every bite. I also had a side of bacon, and they cooked it just right, not burned to a crisp. I would go there at least twice a week if we lived here (maybe more than that!), but definitely know you won't be disappointed.

Yummy

Worth visiting. Tasty dishes. though big portion sizes. We shared 2 dishes bet 4 of us. Their meat loaf .....yummy yummy

Perfectly Plesant Little Hole in the Wall Place

By 620toddf |

This is a "joint" in the best sense of the word... Reminded us of some of our favorite places back home in South Carolina. Crooked floors, questionable building practices, real foliage falling in your beer glass, seat yourself and kick back - our kind of place! And the bacon - awesome. Great service, tasty creative food and a nice beer selection. All at a fair price. Great experience.

Strawberry Screwdriver & French Toast! Saturday-Don't-Matter Day

By Je |

I visited this awesome gem for Saturday-Dont-Matter-Day Bruch and we all loved it!! I highly recommend the brioche french toast and the cartelized apple french toast! They have a wonderful California omelet as well! For drinks, their Kombucha on tap is DELICIOUS (and good for you) as well as their Strawberry Screwdriver is beautiful and very tasty!! This place does not dissapoint. Be sure to call ahead or arrive with patience as there is often a wait due to the popularity... ask for a table in the front area and then while you're waiting for your table visit the bar and check out the quotes on the wall :) You're welcome :) :)

Cute, romantic atmosphere!

By Chelsea P |

We had dinner here our first night in San Diego and we weren't disappointed. We sat on the side patio and it was romantic! Three tables and a fountain set the mood. Our drinks were delivered in mason jars and thee food was cooked perfectly. The menu had a foodie feel with reasonable prices. I had a meat and potato style pizza. Delicious!

Brunch in a Bungalow

By KKLevy |

What a beautiful, mostly outdoor restaurant true to its name: it's like you're dining in a fig tree! Beautiful trees tower over creating a green canopy. I've only tried the brunch so far but it was delicious. Highly recommend the bloody Mary's with the candied bacon! Relaxing and cute cafe. Would definitely go back.

Amazing Food, Superb Hospitality, Perfect Vibe!

By Mark |

Being a connoisseur of excellent Bacon, once I saw the website mention "Man Candy" (A Baked Brown Sugar & paprika thick sliced Bacon), I was obligated to try it out. We got so much more then we expected. My wife and I went there to cap a most fabulous Anniversary celebration and we were promptly greeted by the hostess even though you seat yourself. Then Liz (who may be the most pleasant waitress we have encountered this year) greeted us and took us through the menu with some great suggestions. The Bananas Foster French Toast was 2 thumbs up, plus both elbows and big toes!! The Monterey Scramble was absolutely fabulous. In engaging with our waitress Liz, she asked why we were in town and we just mentioned our Anniversary. Before our meal was over, she blessed us with 2 glasses of Champagne to celebrate. From our experience at the Fig Tree Cafe in Pacific Beach, we would highly recommend you make it a "must visit" eatery when you make it to San Diego!!!

Good food!

By Sharon-afs |

Met a friend here for breakfast. he brought the kids and they can have giant pancakes. They have something on the menu called ricotta stuffed french toast, I think. I had crab cake Benedict. Food was great. Get the special potatoes. Ask for them. THey have arugula and parmesan.

incredible

By mycasel |

When wwe entered there wrre only a few customers. As the lunch time rush picked up, the quality of service didn't falter. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. The shrimp omelet and the turkey panini were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Amazing breakfast and brunch!

By Lauren A |

This place is not only beautiful it has amazing food!! Besides the food my favorite part is the ambiance. You sit under the trees which is amazing. They had great benedicts and French toast!

Must try!

By swandth |

A little different in a great way!! If your in the area this place is a must try. Friendly staff & very tasty healthy food choices.

Inconsistent

By somrtravl |

Was placed all the way in the far back where there was no air movement. There was a small fan mounted to the wall which we asked to be turned on several times, but no such luck. Water would have cooled us down, but that took about 20 minutes. Two of us had the California omelette , but they were not made the same. Two of us got English muffins. One came with butter, one didn’t. Not sure why the inconsistencies. The place itself has such a cool vibe and atmosphere.

Great!

By avelezmtz |

Nice place and delicious food & great service, ask for German, he is very good host! Great quality and organic food and very well served, definitely we're coming back.

Lovely spot

By family32606 |

Food was great. Interesting and varied menu. Delicious gluten free bread. Hot tea was refilled. Service was friendly and fun. Great spot!

Breakfast in the shade

By NorCalPal |

This restaurant is basically a wooden deck/patio shaded by a huge and beautiful fig tree. Nothing fancy but the vibe is SoCal mellow and friendly. I kept going back for the veggie scramble, which you can order with fresh fruit or roast potatoes on the side. The jam they serve with the toast is particularly good. Pancakes are light and fluffy...Pacific Beach is a college town, so if you go early on a weekday you can spend a leisurely morning here sitting and reading undisturbed under the fig tree--lovely. Beware, though: On holidays and weekends (brunch time) the lines can stretch out to the sidewalk.

Loved it!

By llm15_london |

Four of us came here for a birthday Sunday brunch, and it was the perfect setting! We had mimosas to drink which were particularly good, but the service and setting were also excellent. As a vegetarian, I was extremely happy with the options, as were the meat-eaters in my group. The food was fantastic, but took a little while to come- one of my group had to get a to-go box. Ve well priced though, and delicious. Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in San Diego.

Wonderful Breakfast Restaurant in San Diego

By CaliforniaViv |

We tried a new place in San Diego this last weekend. We went there for breakfast. We had delicious eggs Benedict, We were very impressed with the ambience and service. There was a lot of food for the money.

Relaxing Saturday morning

By Jean |

Stopped in Liberty Station to go to Trader Joe's and decided to check out Fig Tree Cafe. It was wonderful. I had eggs Benedict and my husband had eggs and meatloaf. Ambiance was lovely and relaxing. Food was so good. We will go there again. Sat outside.

2 for the food and 4 for the

By Amina S |

2 for the food and 4 for the ambiance = 3 My husband and I checked out the place this morning. We had coffee, a breakfast sushi, an American and buttermilk pancakes. Nothing was actually particularly good. The breakfast sushi was Instagram ready but tasted like plain rice and a bit of scrambled egg. Though the bacon around the “sushi” was better than the one we got with the American which was cold and hard. The plate the sushi was served on wasn’t actually meant for eating, the “sushi” crumbled right out of the narrow rectangular plate. The potatoes were also cold and the pancake tasted like the Costco’s pancake mix. Oh and my coffee wasn’t hot. It’s really too bad because the place looks super nice.

Casual Brunch, comfortable atmosphere

By Nikolaus B |

Delightful café with MASSIVE coffee mugs. If you're sleepy-eyed and hungry you've got to come here. Most of their seating is an open yet covered patio. The food is very good and we were not rushed to eat, pay and get out. The restaurant is not on a busy street but I didn't see any dedicated parking so plan to drive around the block and hunt. It didn't take us long.

Breakfast

By Knits |

We were lucky with our timing only had 10 minute wait I had cheese omelet was very good. Ice coffee was ok rather fussy about coffees Waitstaff very busy but still friendly

Yummy!

By Amanda R |

The Man Candy was the best! Our server was attentive even though it was crazy busy. I would only recommend outdoor heaters to take the chill off in the morning.

Great breakfast place

By Lisa M |

Lovely outdoor area for a wonderful breakfast. Few tables indoors, dog friendly restaurant. Omelette was excellent

Great Sunday brunch!

By nabeab |

This is a peculiar place, very eclectit, people are seated everywhere. We had to wait 20 minutes to get a table, but food and service were great! We ordered the seaside omelet and scrambled veggies. We also liked the idea of the caffeine sampler and the shots antioxidants sampler. Great experience and loved the Mexican latte!

Fantastic breakfast

By Ktaylor75 |

Went with some friends we were visiting in PB. Great food! Man candy bacon, arugula truffle potatoes, and soy chorizo all highly recommended!

Great Breakfast!

By Debbie L |

There are lots of places to dine in PB, and many are very good, but please treat yourself and go to Fig Tree - delicious good, fun vibe, terrific wait staff. Definitely recommend this casual, easy-going restaurant.

Not a clean environment.

By Victoria M |

The food here is on point and I give it 5 stars on that but the reason it’s at 3 I bcuz the tables were sticky and had left over food or residue on it. The floor sticky and filthy. Really need to pressure wash the floor down or something. They allow dogs which I think is a no. As I watched a woman with her dog sitting closely to another family nearby the dog shook his fur and all this fur and whatever was on him flew right in the air and in the lady’s food. She was not happy at all. Of it was me I would have asked for a new plate. Couch you sit on just felt so filthy. This place is awesome. Service was very slow for a weekday. Didn’t get my coffee till after my meal arrived asked for sugar never even got that. By the time my husband and I finished our food the family next to us that had arrived way before still didn’t get their meals. They were upset and had to get up and ask for their food. They just need to work on a few things here. I would come back if it was a little more clean. Again the food is excellent here. Hope management is aware and working on the situation to keep its name on high.

Wonderful breakfast place!

By BJ K |

The cafe's ambiance is woodsy, verdant, with charming patios, flowering shrubs and the twinkle of sunlight through the foliage. Most of their produce is organic and they serve free range chicken eggs. All four of us enjoyed our breakfast plates. The service was friendly. Go and enjoy!

Huge portions of delicious food

By Deb18560 |

We went here for brunch with our granddaughter and daughter-in-law on a Sunday morning. We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. Service was pretty slow, and for some reason my food went in on a separate ticket from the other three people in our party and was delivered about 10 minutes before theirs. We aren't high maintenance diners, so it wasn't a big deal. We all had different items, and everything was delicious, the portions are very large, and the price is about what I would have expected. Highly recommended!

Outstanding Breakfast Place for Vegans AND Carnivores!

By dsaxon9454 |

This place has a great eclectic selection of food on the menu. Lots of gluten free, vegan choices, as well as many meat dishes. Interesting food at a reasonable price. The restaurant has a huge tree growing over it, so you feel like you are eating in a tree house. Nice atmosphere, GREAT food, great service!

Just wow!

By Joy L |

We had breakfast here and loved it. Food was very fresh and delicious. Could not finish it all. The mocha coffee was to die for! We all ordered different choices and everyone was pleased with their meal. We want to go back!

A Cooking Lesson for the Kitchen!

By Rexflash |

Hello Fig Tree: I guess your kitchen staff missed the day at culinary school where they introduced the sandwich. Or maybe your staff can't access the internet to watch the YouTube video of how to make a club sandwich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_1_ZSMxRfg Let’s start with the basics: a sandwich is a food item consisting of one or more types of food placed between slices of bread that you pick up in your hands and eat. More specifically, the American classic club sandwich is a sandwich of toasted bread, sliced poultry, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Often cut into quarters or halves and held together by hors d'œuvre sticks, most versions have two layers which are separated by an additional slice of bread. I love club sandwiches. They are the standard by which I judge casual American restaurants. So, when I saw the ‘roasted chicken club sandwich’ on the menu, I had to have it. However, it proved not to be a club sandwich at all. First off, if you can’t hold it in your hand and eat it, it isn’t even a sandwich. Hint: if you use two 1 ½ inch thick slices of very soft bread and then jam a grilled chicken breast in the middle with some tomato, avocado and lettuce, it will fall apart at the first grasp. So, I took out the insides, ate that and left the bread for the seagulls. A grilled (thick), not roasted (and sliced) chicken breast. 3 slices of cold bacon. A watery tomato slice. A hunk of avocado. To be fair, the ingredients were not bad, just not what was called for, poorly assembled and impossible to eat as a sandwich. Were this the only fault of the kitchen, I would stop there. However, my dining partner ordered French Toast with the optional cinnamon apple compote. Similar to the sandwich, if you take very think pieces of toast, dunk them in egg and milk and grill them, they will be mushy because the bread soaks up too much liquid. Second, if you dump the cinnamon apple compote on top before you serve it, you will reduce this dish to a mushy glob that barely resembles French toast. So, we won’t be going back. These are staples of the classic American coffee shop. If you can’t make them well, I doubt you make much else well. The atmosphere is charming, in a neighborhood, beachy, sort of way and the service was fine. Frankly, I can make better food in my kitchen so there is no need to go to the Fig Tree.

The ambiance is better than the food

By Janlett |

This is a popular eating spot for breakfast -- it is a little like being in a tree house in a good way. The wait staff were excellent but the food is very average. Still it is fun and I recommend a visit.

Wish I Could Have Sampled It All!

By H H |

We had breakfast here several times on a recent trip to San Diego. There's a really good mix of sweet and savory options on the menu and dishes on both sides were wonderful! My top recommendation would be the Italian fennel sausage omelet.Portions were generous and the service was friendly. If we're ever in San Diego again, we'll be sure to return here!

Excellent Food and Service

By Galen K |

We always stop into Fig Tree every time we are in San Diego. This time I had something different and loved it. I had the BLT with man candy and a side of tortilla soup. It was not disappointing! While the bread did fall part some the overall meal was great. The soup was not like a traditional tortilla soup it was more of a chicken and veggies in a red sauce and was delicious. The atmosphere was amazing as always and yes we will be back again.

the most scrumptious brunch, adorable setting

By Caroline S |

I love Fig Tree!! The veggie scramble and windansea omlette are my favorites! My husband always orders the crabcake bennie, which is also pretty amazing. I also reccommend the stuffed french toast, I promise you've never had anything like it. The food is so fresh and well prepared. I have always had a wonderful experience at Fig Tree; such an inviting atmosphere! and!... they just started serving drinks! Mimosas and specialty drinks YUM

French toast sampler

By Nicole55lee |

Fig Tree Cafe is a cute hidden gem with great coffee and yummy food. I shared the French toast sampler with a side of their signature bacon. We choose the cinnamon apple, fresh berry, and fig jam with ricotta cheese options. It was good, but not the best I've had. They were a little dry. (Try OMG French toast at Snooze Cafe) Service was great. The place was clean and practiced social distancing. Street parking can be difficult at times.

Yes!

By Erik O |

Go there! Enjoy the cosy back garden, the great food, the service and a pretty good hand crafted beer selection. We will come back for sure!

Great food, great place to relax

By brahmagupta |

We stayed at an Air B&B in the neighborhood and ended up eating here 2 of the 3 mornings. It is just a little neighborhood mostly outdoor vibe. Lots of people here with their dogs and seem to be here to relax, very low key. I had a huevos rancheros both days which were great, also things ordered were veggie scram, granola and fruit, pancakes with strawberries and cream everything was wonderful. Also great coffee and good service! So glad we tried this new place, we will be back on our next trip. I also see now there are other locations, I am going to have to check them out, but the setting of this restaurant I think really adds to it, not sure if the others would be the same! Enjoy!

Great Food

By Kathy S |

Great Food, healthy options, friendly staff, darling restaurant. However, it is always cold. The front patio is covered, but shadey and cool. The back patio is nice provided the sun is out. Also, if you're in a bit of a rush, I suggest you go elsewhere. The service isn't very fast. Although we were in a hurry at our last visit, and they did our best to accomodate us. We sat at the communal table near the entrance, but it was a huge bummer because it was beautiful and sunny out, yet we were eating in the shade and it was windy. They had no blankets so we had to warm up with hot coffee and cocoa drinks. The temperature shift when we left the restaurant was vast. This is my only con regarding this restaurant at this location. Although it's much further from my home, I prefer the Promenade location near Point Loma much better.

Delicious and many gluten free options!

By Judy J |

The fact that I went back for breakfast each morning of my visit says it all. The place itself is cute and charming. The food is tasty. Lots of choices. The gluten free French toast was great. The portobello sandwich on gluten free multigrain bread was amazing. I only wish my trip to San Diego was longer so I could go back again!

Everything is So Fresh!

By Carolyn B |

The staff is great, the atmosphere is great, the food is great! The company was also great as we were celebrating as a family for our sons 25th birthday! We started off with a bottle of champagne along with fresh squeezed orange juice-YUM. I ordered the CA omelette with egg whites and had the leftovers two days later. Their house potatoes are also yummy. Prices are fantastic. I would definitely go more often is I lived closer.

So good! and amazing atmosphere

By Amanda R |

The cafe is literally under a huge tree canopy and is so beautiful for breakfast! The food was amazing! Coffee was unlimited

Great food! Friendly staff.

By Carly C |

This was a really cute place with really good food! I can't have gluten or dairy and I was easily accommodated. I had the grilled turkey, AMAZING! The best turkey sandwich I've had. The GF bread was excellent, didn't seem like GF bread at all. The sauces on it were really good too, the perfect amount. The side salad was really fresh and perfectly dressed. My boyfriend had the same sandwich but got French fries and he said those were really good. Great find! If we come back to SD definitely plan on coming here again. Highly recommend!

ONE OF MY FAVE BRUNCH PLACES

By Nari L |

Wow. I LOOOOOVE this place. It's SUPER dog friendly. This place is an outdoor cafe so you can bring your dog so don't be surprised if there are dogs EVERYWHERE. But I love it! The best french toast I ever had! OMG it's soooooooooooooooooo good! I had the caramelized apples french toast and they were to die for! My bf ordered the meatloaf hash and he loved it! All in all, everything was just perfect! Definitely coming back to this place. I just fell in love <3

This is a Spot you want to go to if you like Excellent Food, Large Portions, Fresh Healthy, Nice Courtyard Patio in Back, or dine inside inclosed eating area. Great Friendly Service, expect it here !!! Food Way Above Most Places in Quality. Great area in San Diego California, Close to San Diego Attractions. Dog Friendly.

All the exotic beverages

By 801Pilar |

This place is EXACTLY what you would expect or want from a "San Diego Neighborhood Bistro": Good quality ingredients with plenty of buzzword qualifiers (ethically raised/grown, non-GMO, alterna-grains and dairy options), wide selection of trendy cocktails and beverages, great ambience, adequate but slightly surly service. Fig Tree hits on all points.

Must hit!!

By JarrodR23 |

Used to live in San Diego and this is definitely one of locals' secrets. Awesome menu, outdoor seating and fair prices!

Good Food and Service in a Dilapidated Venue

By Marc B |

My wife, my oldest daughter, and I went at the recommendation of our son who lives in PB. The wait was typical for a popular SoCal breakfast place -- about 25 minutes. The building is chopped up and just looks unsanitary. (I didn't check the health inspector reports.) The bathrooms are inadequate in number and not of high quality. The table was sticky -- like it had been used a lot, and no amount of wiping or cleaning could get rid of the stickiness. The service was great -- the server was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. My wife order the acai bowl and my daughter and I each ordered a California burrito. The bowl was very tasty. The burritos were wonderful -- and huge. We could easily have shared one between us. Food and Service -- 5 Stars. Venue -- 3 Stars (at best).

Great breakfast or brunch place

By gzau |

They pretty much serve brunch food for breakfast and lunch. They are not open for dinner. There location is quite nice with a big tree in the middle. Highly recommended but not cheap

Nice cafe, but needs sprucing up

By Pia M |

I've gone there 3 times now, and it seems to me that the quality is going down. The first time everything was fine. The second & third time the food was lukewarm. The coffee is good. The tables on the patio are really wobbly so be careful that you don't spill anything.

WOW!!!!

By Pat K |

This place is awesome. LARGE cups of coffee, delicious food. Very eclectic foods. We went there three times during our short visit. Large portions!!!

The picture is not of the Restaurant , but the food is amazing!

By bellaluv2travel |

While we were in San Diego we drove over to this Restaurant. First of all the picture is not of the present Restaurant, but the food was amazing. It was very busy. Indoor and outdoor seating. Huge portions for reasonable price. We went for breakfast and the food was awesome.

Delicious!

By Margaret T |

I came here for a friends pre-wedding brunch! Service took a little long but that was expected with how busy it was. Food looked as incredible as it tasted! Loved the free boho vibe.

Gluten-free tastes great!

By Max G |

They were were very accommodating to a large group with very different meal preferences. They can make almost everything gluten free. It was a great way to end our San Diego trip. This is a definite must stop.

Brunch

By ghpierce |

The food was great. Had a California omelette that tasted great and filling. Definitely worth trying when in San Diego.

My Favorite Breakfast Place Ever!

By Leslie M |

We visit here every time I come to PB. Reliably the best breakfast served under trees on what feels like your back porch. Uneven floors and very informal decorations make this a beach staple. The food is amazing! Man Candy is not to be missed! Great mimosas and delicious coffee are always key,

Great burrito!

By Brandon G |

Loved the atmosphere and the staff was great! Had the California breakfast burrito and coffee. Will definitely be back!

Great breakfast/brunch

By Terrence B |

What a delicious and very hip place to eat. I had the fried egg which and the girlfriend got French toast!! Both were absolutely amazing. Didn't have to wait long at all. Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area or visiting

Loved the Vegetable Sandwich

By goldrushgal |

This cafe is tucked away in a neighborhood. Quite unique as seating is outside under cover of huge ficus trees in the front, awning on the side and open in the backyard of an older house converted into cafe. We both ate the vegetable sandwiches filled with mozzarella cheese, asparagus, avacados, tomatoes, etc on rye with a side of yummy garlic fries. There is a wide selection of coffees from their espresso machine available. I was intrigued by a beverage made with blackberries. Didn't notice it until the end of meal would like to try next visit. We where travelling through the area and found this to be a pleasant stop on our trip.

Man candy?

By Angie M |

Fig Tree’s setup is common in SD - restaurants are converted from old houses, resulting in some awkward layouts. I understand the reviews saying it needs sprucing up, because it does feel old and worn down. But the service was delightful, the food was delicious, and the coffee was really good - and served in huge mugs! My friend ordered French toast and “man candy,” which is delicious candied bacon. I had eggs with hash browns that were made with truffle oil and arugula. YUM. There are plenty of options and our server was cheerful and helpful, even helped my friend buy a t-shirt that says “what the fig.”

Yummy lunch

By Shannon D |

We stopped here for a lunch while on vacay in PB. I had a turkey sandwich with fries, which was delicious and a yummy blackberry and mint cocktail. My partner tried the black bean burger, which was huge, and he quite enjoyed it. Neat laid back vibe. Great spot for a casual lunch.

The best atmosphere!

By imreading97 |

We visited Fig Tree Cafe for lunch and it was the absolute best atmosphere I’ve experienced at any restaurant! It was like having lunch in a secret garden. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional, all of the staff were friendly and happy to be there- I definitely recommend trying this restaurant out if you’re in the area!

Not our favorite

By MatureCouple2013 |

This was recommended to us by friends. Breakfast was okay, but not our favorite. Mercy, the coffee is strong! We have other restaurants that we like better.

Great breakfast

By gzau |

Fig Tree Cafe is a bit hard to find as there is no big sign. I drove by it once before finding it. It has open air sitting underneath a big tree. The service was fast as we were in a hurry. The food is good and I particularly liked my hash and eggs. I would definitely go back again

Best GF BREAKFAST ever

By triathle |

Loved the food here. It's my second day in a row and I'm sure to be back here tomorrow!!! Real gluten free places are hard to find so my daughter and I who suffer from celiac disease can enjoy and not have to worry!!

Delicious and unique

By Kristy |

This restaurant is like eating in a fairy forest. Basically the whole place is one big patio with trees, vines and plants all over. The food is very delicious and they have a great GF menu as well. Try the "man candy!"

HoBo Yummy staycation

Fun place for a sandwich or salad. Great for a quick lunch. Just like a mini break in a tree house. Nothing formal, very boho vibe, easy peasy restaurant. Food is Ok but not that extraordinary.

Restaurant is OPEN! Dog friendly. Good food & friendly service

By Mugsy001 |

Dog friendly patio. Excellent service. Traditional Bennie; Cinnamon & Brown Sugar French Toast were tasty. Restaurant is open.

Try something different.

By MsL0vely |

I'm from the East Coast and came to vacation in San Diego. I stayed at a nice hotel and during dinner one night I asked the waitress to recommend an awesome breakfast place. She told me about the Fig Tree Cafe located on Cass Street. It's an organic spot. I had the breakfast sushi which was amazing!! Steamed rice, eggs scallions wrapped in delicious brown sugar bacon then topped with plum sauce and served with fresh fruit. Your tastebuds won't know what hit em. Be prepared, It's a big meal but I ate it all and didn't have lunch since I was still full hours later. But where else can you have something like this? I wanted something new not available in your average breakfast spot. The restaurant is indoor/outdoor very cute and hip. I only wish the East Coast could have something as cool as this. I'm so glad the waitress at the hotel recommended it as I would've never known about it otherwise. It's kind of small and hidden jewel, the kind of place only locals know about.

Awesome spot!

By PBRGH |

This was a great little spot we found on our trip on to San Diego! The environment is great and the restaurant offers both vegetarian and vegan options. Definitely suggest stopping here!

Best Brunch in Pacific Beach

By Kristine H |

My husband and I lived in PB for about 2 years. We were regular customers at Fig Tree for brunch on Sundays. We loved the outdoor seating and the great fresh ingredients. I have had almost every single item on their menu but the eggs benedict and black bean burger are my favorites. The coffee cake is such a treat and so are their cappucinos. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Be prepared to wait for brunch but even that experience is pleasant because of the outdoor seating and waterfall.

Nice atmoshere

By Alena K |

Its a very cosy restaurant. U can eat in the shade of the tree. and u are in connection with nature. I felt full of energy after haing breakfast there

Wouldn't go back

By Nosugarcoatingforyou |

First off, I give two stars as the energetic vibe was spot on...the hostesses were awesome. We called in to inquire about reservations and the presence over the phone was incredible. We asked to wait a bit more for a table inside as opposed to the bar as my wife is nursing an injury...super accommodating! We thought, the reviews were right...this is going to be a fun experience. But...it went downhill from there... Water hit the table shortly, awesome. Our server was busy, but came over within 5 minutes, established contact and took both ours and our neighbors complete order(FYI, we should've ordered drinks first...make sure you do this if you go. Set YOUR pace). Having managed, trained and coached countless restaurant people, giving people their drinks is a priority! Especially for a Sunday morning brunch. A drink order of any type is a metaphorical babysitter if your in the middle of a rush. Knowing an expectant disposition can weigh the minutes longer, I take a peak at a clock if it seems to be taking longer(industry habit). It took well over 25 minutes for my mimosa to come out. Our server knew it was taking awhile as she told us twice they'd be out shortly. Our food arrived exactly 2 minutes later, my wife's surf and turf Bloody Mary still not here. They brought the wrong food, then failed to check that we had silverware, finally brought her drink, then brought us extra napkins we didn't ask for...twice. I ordered a second mimosa not knowing how long to wait for a second...it arrived within a minute. Our server checked back quickly, and the food WAS good if a little cool. The eggs were poached perfectly. The short rib on the Benedict was a great presentation. It literally would've been perfect if our drinks had come at least 5-10 minutes earlier and we were able to have "brunch" not just eat. If it's too busy to make a difficult drink, or if supplies aren't readily availability, 86 it till it slows down... No acknowledgement of the wait for drinks. No acknowledgement of the experience not being on par with typical, as we witnessed around us. And no acknowledgement of our lack luster energy towards the end gave them a D-. This 100% could've been recuperated, turned around and had been a positive review with a dedicated customer as opposed to what it is now. We wouldn't go back!

Breakfast all day

Just was introduced to this place - i've been driving by it for the past 6 months and finally decided to stop and try it. Very comfortable feel - love the indoor/outdoor patios. Very eclectic decor and structure - it looks like it started small and grew by adding patios, rooms and whatever. Definitely a place for the locals. Service was excellent - we were there in the middle of the lunch rush and had no troubles like other reviewers have noted. Food was served quick and hot. The menu is mainly breakfast (omelets, eggs and french toast) in various guises. It looked good and I'll be back to try. But this was lunch and having already had eggs for breakfast, I tried something light - the grilled cheese (with avocado and tomato) and homemade (?) tomato soup. Soup was very good and if not homemade, comes very close. Loved it. Grilled cheese also very nice. I haven't had one for years and this was a good choice. Price was a little steep, maybe $1-2 more per dish than I'd expect. But, its a perfect relaxed patio breakfast and lunch place for all of these sunny san diego days.

Worth the Wait

Perhaps because it is only open for breakfast and lunch, whereas most of my culinary adventures are dinners, Fig Tree Cafe somehow managed to evade this foodie's watchful eye for nearly 5 years, and it's right in my own backyard! Luckily, I finally learned the error of my ways at Easter Sunday Brunch, and I've been back many times since. Fig Tree is located in a cute, quaint single-story home on tree-lined Cass Street, just a couple blocks from the beach. With front and back outdoor courtyards and cozy seating inside, there's a comfortable spot for everyone. Personally, I like the back patio, especially the corner table by the hip wine-bottle/wine-cask fountain. Whatever you like to eat for breakfast, Fig Tree has a lip-smacking version of it. To me, eggs are breakfast, and I've enjoyed many variations of omelets, scrambles, and bennies here--recently, a shortrib bennie was a special treat. Friends have rhapsodized over stuffed french toast, blueberry pancakes, homemade granola and coffee cake. The staff is extremely friendly, accomodating, and efficient, not always a given in PB, home of the hungover waiter. On a recent trip, my friend and I wondered if we could replace the carafe of OJ for Mimosas with a carafe of Peach Puree to make Bellinis, and not only did our server negotiate this on our behalf, she also returned to our table many times for refills, carefully pouring peach puree and sparkling wine in the perfect proportions without a single overflow. I hate waiting in line to dine and Fig Tree doesn't take reservations for brunch, but the wait has always been worthwhile as every visit is a treat.

Another great breakfast/brunch spot in Pacific Beach. Menu is extensive, great cocktails, service was very good.
