Craving pinakbet

By Solutions123 |

I was craving a Filipino vegetable dish called pinakbet. It is located in an old shopping strip. When we walked in, there were dirty dishes on the tables. I hesitated for a second. I got the squid adobo, shrimp pinakbet, pancit, and lumpia. Everything was delicious and I didn’t get sick. Since then I’ve been here at least four times when I’m in town. Don’t let the outside or inside scare you away. The food is authentic.

Family Celebration.

My sister in law took us to her favorite Chinese restaurant to celebrate we were taking days off with her in San Antonio. We found a place with good variety of dishes and fresh prepared all time, even though the place is huge, it was full ! the prices are a little higher then average and if you are looking for the special dishes like crab legs you have to be ' hunting' when there a fresh pan of them arrive because they run out quikly

My wife and I had lunch here and was surprised by the wide selection of Filipino dishes available. The restaurant was clean and you could see them cooking your food because the cooking area is open. The staff was friendly and very helpful with the selections. I had breakfast for lunch. Langgunisa, eggs and garlic rice. I had always wanted to try Filipino breakfast sausage. Prices are very reasonable and the menu selection is very extensive.

Vegetable dish

I am trying to eat healthy. This is a vegetable dish that they add chicken or shrimp to. I asked for shrimp but it came with chicken. That was fine.

First time here...and NOT the last!

I've been to the Philippines 5 times in the last 3 years. My fiancé is a Filipina. Me and 3 other members of my family tried 7 different dishes (I wanted to introduce them to Filipino foods. We had Pork Tocino, 2 types of Pancit, Catfish Soup....we all loved everything! !!!!! Great service, No extra charges (as posted by someone else). We had a very authentic Halo-Halo for dessert.....YUM!!! The owners were extremely nice and talkative. I cant wait to bring my fiancé here in a few weeks! Oh, and Friday evenings are busy Kareoke night!

Great pinoy food in a family atmosphere

Visited the place two times already with two groups of "kano" friends and everyone of them loves the food in this place. They have many of the traditional recipes that you would find "back home" in the Philippines. The prices are decent and the place is run by the family. The service is good and they really try to get to know all of their customers when you give them a chance. In addition to the food service in dining they also provide take out orders. This particular night was karaoke night and they had a very good crowd that was part of a reserved event. Off to the side in their "store" area that sells many asian food items for home preparation, they had another civic organization having their own meeting in a very comfortable home like atmosphere. Parking hasnever been an issue and handicap access is not bad at all.

A diamond in the ruff

I've been looking for a Filipino restaurant that can compete with my mom's cooking and I found it. I tried the pork adobo and it was excellent. I alway pick a food that I think is a signature dish from a restaurant that i can probably predict how the rest of the menu will come out. They did not disappoint me on the adobo combo. The combo also came with pancit, rice, and lumpia which also gave me a chance to judge other food. The pancit was perfect loved it. The lumpia had a good taste but was to small for me, i like it larger with more meat. I took my mom with me which is the ultimate judge she has not like one Filipino restaurant since she has moved here in the 70s. She said she liked the food and was as good as hers 😳. It is kind of hidden in a corner of a strip mall not much to see from the outside and kind of dated on the inside. It was clean on the inside, service was good. It seems like its a mom and pop business, didn't see anyone else working in there. There was 7 other customers at the time and every one did receive their food in a timely manner. I did get to talk to one of the owners Chris who was very freindly and passionate about his food and business. We ate the caldereta combo and pork adobo combo. I also had sago for a drink which kind of reminded me of a very sweet bubble tea. I will definitely come back soon even though i live 80 miles away, worth the drive.
