I had wings (medium buffalo w/ bc) and a house salad. The wings were perfect. My only complaint is that they were the tiniest chicken wings I've ever seen or eaten. I left wishing I'd had about twice as many wings - but ordering more would have been too expensive. Is Fire on the Mountain known for serving teeny-tiny wings? Or did I just hit the bottom of the barrel that day?

We eat at FOTM every time we are in Portland. It is always good. It has a lively urban atmosphere. We especially enjoy the wings, salads, and pizza. The last time I had a fish sandwich which was excellent.

Fire on the Mountain was awesome. Fully expected to order "real" wings, but got the vegetarian ones with really great, spicy sauce and was SUPER happy. There's also a good selection of local beers, and a really good vibe.

FOTM is a must for anyone on vacation or visiting Portland. The wings are excellent, as are the fries. Meals are great too. I happen to like this Burnside location best, as there are several locations in the area. I love the bleu cheese dressing. If you're a fan of homemade dressing, this is where it's at. All the flavors of wings are good. Some hotter than others. The downside of this location is that it's always packed. The servers are fantastic though, and make the wait tolerable until your order arrives. It's always worth the wait for me! I highly recommend!

get the fried twinky!

We went here to try the place that everyone has told me about. We only got the wings but we tried both boneless and bone in and five different flavors. The bone-in are the way to go here in my opinion. I usually like boneless wings but I didn't care for these ones that much. As far as the flavors go....we tried medium hot, cilantro lime, jamaican jerk, honey bbq and raspberry habanero. I would rank the flavors in that order as well. The BBQ is just a plain tasting BBQ and the habanero flavor I didn't really care for and it was super spicy. They let you try the flavors beforehand but with a huge line behind us that part was rushed. I highly recommend the regular flavored hot sauces and the cilantro lime. We will definitely be back to try more flavors. We also had the cajon flavored fries. They were really good as well.

Pro's: good variety of sauces; the El Jefe sauce is very peppery and tastes decent compared to other places that just go for insane heat; fun atmosphere with large open windows to curbside seating; $.25 wing nights for those who subscribe to their email alerts; trivia card games at the tables for families. Con's: limited parking; limited choices of good food for non-wing eaters (some salads and a questionable meatless wing)

experience!! maybe my third or fourth trip and their wings never disappoint!! lime/cilantro and peanut wings with blue cheese dressing = perfect combination! also indulged in chicken / peanut sauce sandwich - lovely: sauce spicy, but not overwhelming... as usual staff helpful, friendly, accommodating - visiting Portland never quite 'right' without a meal here!!

I met up with the boys in Buffalo at the 16th annual International Chicken Wing Festival . it was nice to see a NW presents being from Blaine WA . A long line at their tent means they hit the mark . I ordered the hottest wings they had on hand. Good flavor and enough heat that I had to order a beer , it was not a option . I will be taking the 5 hour drive to Portland to try them again .

Good wings, but I am spoiled by the Anchor Bar and Duff's in Buffalo, NY.

The morning of the SuperBowl, my brother called and asked if I would pick up wings, since my nephew wanted them and I was close. Okay, sure, no problem. I tried calling and calling and calling, to no avail. After I finished breakfast, I decided to drive on over, not knowing what to expect. Luckily, it was just after noon, so not too busy yet. My job was to order 22 wings, a combo of some hot, some not so hot. I walked up, placed my order, and they told me they would be ready after one. I opted for the Sweet BBQ sauce and the Medium sauce. I walked in at 1:15, and they had an incredibly efficient to go area. I walked up, gave them my name. Wings ready, in and out in under 5 minutes. I kinda felt sorry for the rest of the poor schmucks in line. I was glad I placed my order early. The wings were perfect, as usual. I've been here three or four times, always efficient, always delicious. If you haven't checked this place out yet, go! Oh! And, you can sample all the sauces they have (12 or 16, I think) and make your own selection. They even have fried twinkies! Yup...though I am not quite that brave.

My husband rated the wings here 4.5! Sauces were good. Fun, laid back atmosphere. I enjoyed the pulled pork nachos.

I was anxious to take a visiting family member to Fire to taste what I thought were the best wings in Portland. I had boasted how fantastic they tasted and big they were. Well.....one out of two ain't bad, um, er, yes it is!! I don't know what has happened, but the wings have shrunk in size by half! It's ridiculous to pay $11 for a dozen chicken wings, especially when they are so damn small. I don't know who the braintrusts are there, but you have lost an entire family and our closest wing-eating pals by going small while keeping BIG prices. Just a shame...

Four of my family members had flown into Portland on an impromptu trip and ended up meeting with eleven other friends and family while we were there. We needed a place for eight of us to convene on Saturday afternoon and loving wings like we do, Fire on the Mountain a short drive from the house we had rented on NW 27th sounded great. We found parking a couple of blocks away and on this sunny spring afternoon we were glad to find a large booth open and waiting. We ordered at the counter and the staff were very patient with our first visit, offering tastes of sauces and beers before deciding. We ended up with Jamacian Jerk, Very Hot, Hot , Sweet Bbq and spicy Peanut sauces. All wings were great, flavorful, crunchy and generously messy with the sauces. Salads were huge with dressing on the side. The beer was all Portland and did not let us down and was great for washing down baskets of hot tater tots! We stayed for several hours and never felt like we were being rushed.

I must admit that I was at FOTM twice in 11 days and had wings both times. Why mess with your best meal? My first time I shared a sample of wings Spicy Peanut, Hot, Buffalo Lime Cilantro, and Extra Hot. I shy away from the Extra Hot because then you can't taste anything. Spicy Peanut is my new favorite. Delicious! The wings were cooked to perfection. Not slimey or too hard. The second time I had a Bloody Mary that was wonderful with celery salt on the rim of glass to accompany my hot wings. They went together perfectly. I noticed there was a little zing in the Bloody Mary and that it was delightful! Good food, great service and kids are always welcome!

Heard good things so we were excited to try it. Unique sauce flavors. I got bourbon chipotle and the Buffalo medium. Both tasty. Fries are fresh cut and they have a nice outside dining area. A couple wings were on the smaller side. It gets pretty busy around noon so come when they open if you don’t wanna wait a while. I would come back and try the really spicy sauces.

I came in for the first time with my daughter. It was her birthday, and she loves hot wings! When we entered, there were a couple of dirty, tattered paper menus on the back of the door. I assumed they were for people to take home. No one greeted us when we came in. We went and sat down at one of the tables and waited and waited. No one came. Turns out the dirty paper menus are the menus for in-house diners, and you have to go to the counter to order and pay. Regulars know this, but there are no instructions fur us newbies. The people weren't friendly, with the exception of one woman. We ordered an appetizer combo that was said to serve 4-6 people for $10.50. We received 4 pickle spears, 4 onion rings, an a small serving of French fries. We each ordered 6 wings. The wings were fried naked (my favorite), then tossed in sauce. The wings were a bit overcooked, and the sauce was mostly pooled in the bottom of the basket, rather than coating the wings. The sauces were good. As a newcomer, I definitely didn't understand how this place got the reviews that it has. I would return with a group if that was the place that they chose, but I would never choose it again for myself.

You better like wings..a lot. And french fries. They do both really well and you will wait in line for to order and then search for a table. If you like real wings it is a wonderful place and they do them right.

OK,...I admit it they have the BEST sauces!!! But you could put their sauces on anything & it would taste good! As for the wings themselves, well they are VERY small & had no chicken taste to them. If you order more then one flavor, then make sure you ask them to separate your orders as we tried all the sauces & they brought out the wings in platters with one sauce blending into the next. You want your palate to enjoy each of their wonderful flavorings! The beer on tap was also delicious & a good deal,...our server was somewhere else that day & should of just stayed home! Would go back with friends to try their wonderful Sauces again,....and have a cold beer.

This place is more than fantastic. I can’t even buy wings anywhere else now. They have ruined me. Try the lime cilantro and raspberry habanero

We got wings with several sauces. All excellent, esp. Buffalo Lime Cilantro. Fries were also perfectly cooked.

Went here with some friends as soon as we got into town, super fun atmosphere, walk up service and amazing wings and sandwiches. Jamaican jerk was amazing! And prices were not bad, will be back again.

Pretty much the entire menu is fried food, and they do it well. They even offer fried veggie "chick'n" wings, fried pickles, and fried Oreo cookies! Everything fried is excellent. They also offer healthier options, like grilled chicken sandwiches and a portobello burger, although I really feel like those are more of a peace offering to people in large groups who don't actually want to eat here; really, the thing to order is fried food. FOTM also makes great sauces, which really sets them apart from other chicken wing joints. They have about 12 sauces available at any given time, and at least 10 of those are tried-and-true standards, like Spicy Peanut Sauce and Buffalo Bleu and all of the "hot", "medium", and "mild" Buffalo sauce variations you'd expect. Another nice thing about FOTM is the tap beer selection—it's good. You'd think that'd be a norm in a beer city like Portland, but it's not, and I appreciate that the owners of FOTM go out of their way to offer interesting and tasty beer on draft instead of the same ol', same ol'.

We've eaten at Fire On The Mountain several times. My first time, I thought it was a bit expensive when ordering, but by the end of the meal, we were so delighted that it was worth every penny. It prompted several more trips over the past year. The absolute best Bar-B-Q I've ever had was Voo Doo BBQ in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Likewise, Fire On The Mountain in Portland are by far the best wings I've ever had.

If you like your chicken wings, this is a place to visit. Quick efficient service, nice for those from a non-tipping culture too in that you can get away without tipping being a fast-food style ordering/venue Only disappointment was: El Jefe sauce - As the have about 12 sauces, I expected the hottest of them all to be painful - it wasn't. Sauces are available for takeaway too - so buy a bottle. Shame about the website and it's dodgey usability for overseas - fair enough if FireOnTheMountain won't ship / can't ship but they should have tested this scenario on their website at the very least. I reckon they're doing themselves out of money. Top notch place nonetheless.

They have the best selection of hot wing sauces in town! Highly recommended, but very busy. Good local beer selection too.

went on a recommendation after marathon - really, really liked it! Great Vibe, Great Food. Outstanding wings & sauces, and Fries! Will absolutely go again on next visit to Portland!

My Son and I visited this spot while on vacation. It was a Saturday night and we were looking for a place that had good food and football on the big screen. We drove by the restaurant and noticed a long line out the door. We decided if the locals are willing to stand in the long line in the rain it must be worth the wait. We hoped in line and it took us about 20 minutes to order and find a table. We ordered wings and fries. They offered many choices of sauces but we went with the the spicy peanut, cilantro lime and BBQ. The wing were crispy and moist and were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce on each wing. We are hooked on this spot now and will surely be back on our next visit to Portland. Customer service is a priority at this restaurant.

Noisy but fun. V busy on a Sunday night, sign of good food? Great wings and sauces, good salad and chicken sandwich, bottomless soft drinks. Deep fried pickle spears were interesting. Too much queue for dessert do missed out on fried Twinkies and Oreos! Nb: I know it's not why you'd go to a chicken place, but picky daughter said vegan nuggets were best she ever had!

Staying on the East side of the river, and not wanting to head back into "downtown" again, our concierge recommended FotM on E Burnside. It was a $5 cab ride from our hotel, but worth every penny! We got there around 6pm and the place was already crowded - although it would get even more so every minute. You order at the counter walking in, so its a good idea to preview the menu online before you come and then divide and conquer once you get there: somebody scouts (and saves) a seat and somebody else orders. They have samples of their dozen sauces at the counter, if you are unsure. As for the food - get the wings! They are great. Meaty and generously sauced, twenty were more than enough for the two of us, coupled with beers and a side. If you don't like so much sauce, ask 'em to go light when you order. We tried the medium hot (pretty hot, and I'm not a spice baby), the sweet BBQ (tasty) and the lime cilantro (my favorite), which someone recommended - I am glad they did because its not a combination I'd be naturally drawn to, but it was G-O-O-D! The sides all looked good and people seemed to be loving the tater-tots! We tried the french fries, sweet-potato fries, fried pickles (thick dill strips) and (real) onion rings. The fries were a standard medium cut and I liked the thinner-cut sweet-potato fries better. The pickles and onion rings were good, but I prefer a lighter batter to their hearty-crunchy variety. They have a pretty big menu with lots of sandwich choices, but we only saw wings and burgers being consumed. The folks next to us got the burgers and they looked juicy and delicious, too. Nice size and oozing cheddar, with all the fixin's. Its a residential neighborhood, so give yourself a few minutes to find parking and my advice: go on the early side if you don't like standing in line! Or call ahead and just pick 'em up and grab a seat!

It was a little strange to us, since we were visiting, to walk in and have to order from a counter vs. having wait staff. We took our time and tried the sauces and I stuck with the sweet BBQ and Mild. We also ordered the Blue cheese stuffed mushrooms and a Blue Cheese bacon burger. Everything was great. The burger was good, mushrooms were super with a sweet sauce. Wings were very good. Not the best I have had in my opinion, but really close. We met up with a cousin and had a few beers (extinguisher - wheat) if memory serves and it was pretty good. Not an IPA fan, so that took out most everything else they had as an option. Never felt rushed and people working and eating there were all very nice. Not our typical type of bar/food but we would for sure go back. I can see why this would be a favorite neighborhood hangout.

Fantastic selection of beer, including a great gluten free selection. All in my party agreed the food is fabulous and the wings are incredible. Unfortunately, as I am gluten free due to Celiacs, I could not partake. Great atmosphere, great place to get together with friends.

I visited on a Monday evening with my husband and toddler son. It was the perfect place to sit outside at a picnic table and enjoy a casual but very tasty meal. You have to line up at the cash to order your food and as there is a good beer special on Monday's we ended up waiting a good 10-15 minutes in line. It was understandable though and the staff did their best to process orders quickly. The food came out quickly and our order was accurate. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We ordered two kinds of wings- cilantro-lime and raspberry-habanero. Both were awesome but we agreed that the cilantro-lime were the winners. We also ordered fish and chips and quest with chips. It was definitely too much food! If I lived locally I would definitely be a regular. I would recommend it to anyone who likes casual dining and good wings.

I get that it's "wings" and a casual, counter service restaurant but when the employee at the service counter can't even be bothered to look up and acknowlege your presence while your standing mere feet from them waiting to be greeting it's a little awkward. An Ipad would have had more personality. Wings were fine but I felt food was overpriced for what it was. Burgers and wraps very ordinary. Fries were good. Soda is self served in those horrible red plastic cups. This is happy hour bar food as full service restaurant prices-check it out-if you must.

These are wings done right. They are well prepared and the available sauces are likewise excellent. My favorite is their spicy peanut. We all had their lunch special which includes a large serving of fries. They have other items on the menu, but the wings are the reason we go. Also a great selection of beer to choose from. The service was great. Parking is somewhat limited.

Best Wings ever!

They have three levels of heat. Standard and exotic as well as seasonal flavors. Wings are crispy, juicy and done to perfection. Only downside was the brewed ice tea was weak.

We were able to phone in our order and pick it up in 15 minutes. The downside was having to wait for those ordering at the counter when we got there. Glad we had take out since the inside and outside seating is limited. The wings were as we ordered though a few seemed to be over-cooked and dry. The sauces were exceptional with just the right amount of heat as per the menu.

i use to go there all the time when i have extra work and i will go back any time them have great people working there

There are a number of food challenges in Portland and we thought it would be fun to give one a try while we were visiting. The El Heffe challenge was crazy - 13 wings in less then 3 1/2 minutes. My husband now has his picture on the wall! I had the jerk chicken sandwich, it was very good! We would go back to eat their 'normal' food - but the challenge is a one time only deal!

Awesome. Portland home grown and always a treat for great wings. They have a style and sauce to appeal to anybody.

Several different sauces, other items on the menu besides wings, beer, crowded when we went. Fast service.

This place was recommended by a friend but it wasn't quite what I'd hoped for. Service was just ok. They didn't include dressing with our salad. They brought one napkin per person with order of wings. Wings were supposed to be medium and hot. Not even clear which was which. Fries were ok. Wifi bad. Fish n chips just ok. Food in general was just ok.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Fire on the Mountain (the Burnside location). The spicy peanut sauce was remarkable as was the rosemary garlic. Nice atmosphere with good music, parking was no trouble. We will definitely go again.

Good micro beer!!! Fun appetizers and good atmosphere for a TGIF. Cozy or large group! Sweet potato tots were amazing!

the people that work here all so friendly and nice i when walk in the door i always give them business and the only thing that have change the prices went up and not to bad , i will still give them business any time any day, i cant wait to next time when i give them more business thanks Ryan carpenter

The food was amazing! The beer was delicious! And you can't leave without having one of those delicious deep fried oreos! We had a variety of food to share around the table. By far the crowd favorite was the pulled pork nachos! (make sure to order extra meat and cheese on those! A little tip from the person taking our order). The wings were AWESOME and the variety of sauce choices really accommodated everyone. From the sweet barbecue to the spicy chipotle, everything was delicious! The staff was great, very friendly and willing to help! The most difficult part of our visit was finding parking and seating, the place was hopping! And for good reason! As a party of 13 we had to wait a little longer to find a space to seat all of us but smaller parties had no problem finding open tables.

Can get very crowded, so plan ahead! Two different veggie wing options (both good), and great fries. Vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, but the tots and some sauces are not.

Went to the burnside location which we like a lot better than the interstate location for wings. The chipotle wings were on fire lol. They had a lot of flavor and was pretty tasty. I asked them to fry my wings extra crispy. We also had the appetizer basket and I loved the fried pickle spears. I am new to Portland and I'm trying to find a good wing place like we had back east. This place was good but I'm still on my search. I would definitely go back to this location for wings 😃

Came here with our son and daughter, we ordered 36 wings because we could get 4 sauces and we had, mild, raspberry habanero, spicy peanut, and Jamaican jerk, all were good, my favorite was the mild and raspberry habanero. The decor is fun, the servers all have fun and funky aprons, the service was somewhat fast, the servers super friendly. Very clean and our timing was perfect we got the last table available before a wait and when we left the wait was huge another good sign that the food (and service) is well worth the wait.

Love this place evern though i'm not a fan of wings. I have been to Fire on the Mountain many times and i'm never disapointed. My favorite is their Jerk Chicken Sandwich and how can you not love the catsup made out of bannanas.

will forever be a customer

Someone referred us to Fire on the Mountain for their specialty, fried pickle spears that are accompanied by a spicy dipping sauce. We also sampled their fish tacos, buffalo chicken wings that come with a variety of sauces and their draft beer. The server was outstanding and every item was delicious. We will definitely make this a regular.

I have wanted to come here but neighborhood parking can be tricky. My wife and I finally made it and all I can say is next time I won't wait so long and will walk many blocks if needed. You enter the restaurant and order your food at the counter. They have a good variety of food, Appetizers, Salads, Burgers, Chicken sandwiches, Chicken wings and desserts. My wife and I started with the Bleu Cheese stuffed Mushrooms. They were great and very hot (fried oil hot) and the dipping sauce was awesome. I had the Chicken sandwich called "The Emma" and it was great. I also treated myself to one of their craft beers. It was called "Hoosier Amber" and I could have had a few more. My wife had a burger called "Jack's Jamaican burger." It was very good as well with a little spice to it. We finished off our meal with a fried Twinkie and some fried Nutter Butters. The desserts were wonderful. The service was great and we will be back to explore more of the menu.

Nothing fancy, but fabulous wings with a great selection of sauces. Fries are some of my favorite in the city too. Service is nice.

excellent wings with some great sauces. not your typical Buffalo Wild Wing category. you can choose different sauces and mix them up with one order which was great. Deff a must go place if you are a wings fan

If you like wings with sauce poured on rather than caramelized and spicy food, you will like this. The guys liked it.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and got boneless wings and fries. The hot sauce was perfect but the wings were fairly average. The fries were tasty. They have a decent beer selection though I didn't order one. No real vegetarian options (even on burgers) for the wife. Not bad. Will probably stop by again someday.

Best Buffalo Wings in Portland! It starts with the multiple choice of sauces available! Great atmosphere & service! Haven't been to there new one on NE Prescott yet but plan on it soon! Great job to all @ F.O.T.M.

Excellent food. Busy place with a busy bar area but ok for kids. Big menu. Wings and pizza were superb!

Great wings fries and mushrooms. Nice atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. Very reasonable pricing and nice beer choices

We heard enough good reviews to make us think this place was something to call home about. We were slightly unimpressed. We loved the options of sauces and that you get the opportunity to taste test them at the counter (although you feel a bit rushed to decide once you get up there.) We also enjoyed the deep fried pickles. Onion rings were good as well. On the downside, the wings were overcooked and had very little meat on them. We would like to try the NoPo location next time and give this place another try. Who knows- maybe it was an off day.

best wings of my life. there is not much more to be told besides they have so many flavors and the texture/sauce ratio is incredible. we tried chili lime cilantro, raspberry habenero, and barbecue and couldn't pick a favorite because we loved them all!!!

As new members of the vegetarian club, my fiance and I decided to branch out and try new vegetarian foods throughout the year. A great friend of mines recommended that we head to Fire on the Mountain to try their vegan wings and fries. Originally, I was a little skeptical of the idea of vegan wings but always loved wings before I became vegetarian. Whats so cool is that we were able to select from a variety of different flavors/sauces to have our wings with. In addition, you have options for dipping sauce and the option to add a basket of fries. Overall, I was blown away by the quality of the food and would definitely recommend others to try it out! Hopefully, I can make it back again to try out more flavors.

Wings wings wings wings!

I'm not a huge wings expert by any means, but I know what I like, usually boneless wings don't catch my fancy either. It's a chicken strip alright - not usually dark meat, and breading can really take away from flavor - especially the bone/marrow flavor. We went for late night happy hour (not on purpose, it was just after 11) and the wings were on special. For a GREAT price we got a ton of food. The spicy peanut sauce on a medium wing was wonderful, the house made blue cheese and ranch took the bite off enough so you could get the flavor of the peanut and the peppers. The bourbon chipotle sauce on a hot wing was a little more "tobasco" hot than flavorful. I think that sauce may be better suited on a medium or mild wing base, to avoid the overpowering vinegar of the tobasco sauce. Fired pickles were wonderfully breaded, not greasy, and not a slice, but a wedge! The chipotle mayo sauce was just the right heat (I'm not a 3-mile island hot guy - just like pepper flavor and a little kick.) Last item we had was the homemade Queso dip and flour tortilla chips - get it - was worth the extra calories, and the chips were very crisp, not greasy, and not burned.

A large selection of both wing sauces and beers to compliment. They also have delicious salads. So good I went back on a recent trip to Portland

Fire on the Mountain is a nice alternative to the popular buffalo wing chain Buffalo Wild Wings. If you don't like the "chain like" feel of Buffalo Wild Wings and are more into the Portland local restaurant feel then Fire on the Mountain is the buffalo wing place for you. Nice atmosphere, great location, tasty buffalo wings, and good beer is a nice combination for a good time. The price value is comparable to Buffalo Wild Wings as are the different sauces. All and all, it's nice to have our own Portland alternative to the large national chain.

We went to Fire on the Mountain with our son and infant granddaughter on a Tuesday evening and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. According to our server, who was fabulous and I only wish I remembered her name, the restaurant is always jammed for both lunch and dinner. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was good, with excellent sweet potato fries. My husband and son split an order of 15 wings. I tried one of their wings with extra hot sauce and, although I wouldn't order the wings that spicy myself, they were excellent. Next time I will try wings with one of the milder sauces. We also shared an order of the fried mushrooms. I thought they were too salty. Fire on the Mountain is very family-friendly. Most of the tables had young children and we were made to feel welcome with our baby. Our only complaint is that the restaurant is very cold near the doors.

Very nice place to visit for lunch or dinner. Eating outside on the patio is where it's at if the weather provides. The Portabello Mushroom sandwich was very good. Good selection of burgers, sandwiches and of course wings.

This is the place if you like hot wings and local beer. The wings big and juicy. You can order different levels of heat - from no spice to extreme - I recommend HOT. Also you can select many different sauces - sample ail avialable to taste before you order. The more wings you order the cheaper the cost/wing. They usually have four or five local beer on tap - from light ales to stout - try them all! You order when you arrive and the server delivers to your table. When we were there the service was excellent as was the food.

had a great experience here--nice jerk sauce, great raspberry habanero sauce; in addition, the sweet potato fries were wonderful. the best part to me was the vegan sugarcane wings. without a doubt the best vegan wings ever.

Wow, I loved it. Going back soon to try more of their delicious food. My fiancé and I traded plates halfway through just to enjoy the variety. I can't wait to go back and try more. Laid back atmosphere and awesome food makes this the best casual diner I've been to in a long time.

The wings are not all steroid-ed and growth hormoned out like say Wing Stop or Buffalo Wild Wings so don't expect ginormous wings rather expect quality and their sauce selection is bananas. They have 11 flagship sauces and 1 monthly rotating sauce and they drench the wings in the one of your choosing so expect a good amount finger licking. Did I mention they brew beer there as well and every Monday is $2.50 pints and if you happen to wander in on a Tuesday you can take some beer home for a $10 growler fill. Like I said, not the best wings but they are from natural free range chickens and the sauce and the beer is really where its at. They also do burgers, wraps and sandwiches in case you want something different and they always have a smaller menu with specialty items and vegan wings son!

Excellent selection of local beers (FoTM has their own brewery, and includes guest taps). The bone-in and boneless wings are both amazing, with a great variety of sauces (permanent selection plus a new one every week or two). Everything else is also top notch, with the hard-to-find deep fried Twinkie and Nutter Butters being much appreciated. The Burnside location is counter-service for ordering, with the food delivered to your table. The staff has always been amazingly friendly. This place can get crowded most evenings, and doesn't lighten up until about 9pm.

Incredible spicy peanut chicken tender salad and very good wings (for the price anyway). Would certainly recommend this place for a reasonably priced lunch spot, offering good sized portions. They lose a star as the queuing and table grabbing can be a bit hectic - better system needed I think. Overall though, a really great lunch!

We asked several people were the best wings in the area was and they all pointed to this place. We walked here from Hair of the Dog and I must say this place was jammed full of people on a Sunday eve! Our server was friendly and very helpful; I loved that they had all of the sauces there for you to dip a celery stick into to figure out what you wanted. I will admit that that the sauces were excellent but the wings were so-so, small and not so tasty. Still, it satisfied the craving.

This is a casual neighborhood restaurant on NE 57th/Fremont that is apparently famous for their Buffalo wings. I'm not a big fan of chicken wings so I ordered the Portabello sandwich which was surprisingly good. So much better than the typical garden burger (I had one at the nearby Killer Burger a couple of months ago and it was tasteless). The fries that came with the sandwich were OK although I found out later I could have asked for a side salad instead of fries. The hubby and kids seemed to enjoy their chicken wings, but the Buffalo chicken salad and house salad looked very ordinary. Based on today's experience, I do not see anything special about FOM to justify a return visit.

The wings have a lot of flavor to them, although I did expect them to be hotter. I didn't choose the hottest flavor (El Jefe), but I might next time. The Raspberry Habanero is very sweet and has almost no heat that comes through. Extra Hot is a solid medium-hot if you are from the south. The wings were cooked well, the fries weren't soggy (although they came out before the wings), and the service was pretty quick.

Very good hot wings and blue cheese sauce. Good blue cheese tender chicken salad. Would definitely go there again. And would recommend it

Great food but they consistently botch orders.

Went to fire on the Mountain on a Friday night. Crowded but worth the wait. Wings were fantastic and beer was excellent.

Manager Al and his crew always do a great job. FOTM wings are the best I have ever tried. The spicy Thai peanut sauce is renowned, and they make their own blu cheese dressing, its amazing. And the Shocks of Sheba IPA they brew right onsite at 57th and Fremont is fantastic too

Once, a friend and I wanted FOTM bad! When we arrived, the fire alarm was going off inside and the lady inside was very apologetic, suggesting that they had no idea when it would cease. Didn't stop us from ordering for a second. Sat down and enjoyed the food as if nothing was wrong. IT'S THAT GOOD!

Meaty wings - good beer. Hot Buffalo sauce a little salty, milder than expected. Long line at the counter, but moved fast. A lot of bar, indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff.

My husband and I are wing snobs. We like the skin crispy, the meat perfectly cooked and the buffalo sauce spicy and not sweet. This place does it up just perfectly! We ate some delicious food in Portland, but after eating these wings, we started looking at houses for sale in the neighborhood. I kid you not! Also, when you walk in to order at the counter, they have all of the different sauces in a muffin tin for you to taste. We ended up ordering our classic hot buffalo style, which were perfect. We also ordered another 6 of spicy peanut (nomnom). We also had some tater tots, because, why in the heck would we pass up the opportunity to eat tater tots? They were good too. Crispy and delicious and went so well with the banana ketchup they have on the table. Really yummy! After these, we decided on a 2nd round (even though this was supposed to be a snack) of cilantro lime (nom) and raspberry habanero. I am not a fan of fruit where it shouldn't be (in my opinion) but I actually liked these. Apart from the fact that I couldn't handle the heat, after having one, they were pretty dang good. We usually don't deviate from the classic hot buffalo, but we are pretty dang happy we did! This place has opened my eyes to the possibilities!

What a disappointment! Checked out this place for the first time for dinner. Ordered salad, it came without dressing. Ordered wings, it came with one napkin per customer. The wifi didn't work. When I asked the waiter, he said the owner probably forgot to pay the bill. The food is mediocre and nothing is worth write home about. Will never go back again!

This is the best spot in Portland for chicken, fries and WINGS! I recommend the lime cilantro and or the chipotle, Side of fries and beers!

The good: atmosphere and service Not so good: wings were not neaty and the buffalo sauce was very bland with almost no taste.

Great local place with a laid back feel. I had the cod sandwich which blew me away that they served it with two filets! Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender, flakey fish in the inside. Sweet potatoes fries were good as well. Come for the food and relax with friends. They do order ahead as well.

Came here for lunch and I had the wings and fries. It is a nice little place, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and overall the wings and fries were good, and they had some great wing sauce choices. I would not come here for dinner, but a good lunch option.

We all ended up here for a late lunch. (By all I mean 4 adults and 2 children). They have kids options, salads and of course wings and fries and such. My husband was in happy hot sauce land, as he often finds food lacking the spice he loves. I loved that they had the option to try the sauces by the cashier (where you order) before you get your meal so you know what you are getting. I had the jerk chicken salad ...sooo good! The kiddos enjoyed their corn dogs and fries. All in all it's mostly pub like food, but it's pretty tasty!! Loud and fun atmosphere, busy but not above what the crew can manage. Would visit again!

The wings had delicious sauce -- almost doesn't matter which of 6 -8 sauces you choose. This is a busy, noisy place -- if the weather is good sit outside if you need a quiet chat. Beer is tricky -- I like draft beer but those on offer had names you have never heard of ...[ no Budweiser here !!] The web site says says they have Rainier on tap -- but not in fact. I asked for a draft beer with the lowest level of hops, so as to be not very bitter. It came & it was managable for me. OK stuff. Trouble was, we didn't know the name so that when we came to re-order another pitcher we did not know what to ask for. We asked advice but got something new that was too bittter for me. Ah well ! My fault. Should have gotten a BOTTLE of Rainier or Coors ...

Way to go Fire on the Mountain serving up great wings with mulitple sauce choices along with excellent beer. The place is always crowded which is a good sign. The food was great and the beer was excellent. Young family friendly crowd. Definitely will return.

we got here to eat around one and it wasn't to busy, but started to get busier really fast. The guy taking our order was really nice and efficient in taking our order and answering questions. The food was fresh and excellent tasting. We got burgers and fries. A little more spendy than some places but not as much as others since it was real meat and fresh it was worth it. Large portions as well

While visiting friends in Portland, they brought food to our hotel from here. We were expecting homemade chicken tenders, and were saddened to see they were not. With 6 of us ordering tenders with a variety of sauces, we also expected the sauces to be marked/labeled. They were not, so we were left guessing (the exception being the ranch and blue cheese)- and, we think we were missing some. Not something we would do if we were ever in Portland again.

A very nice Burgers and Wings place in Portland. This was recommended to us in Whole Foods and the food was very good with lots of varied drinks and draft beer. The Wings were spicy if you ordered them that way and I had the Buffalo Salad which was very good. Had a great light beer called Mountain Light. Very good flavor but a light feel. Overall a nice place for quick burgers and wings.

Put together; good beer; good wings; good onion rings; good fries; good burgers and a bunch of other good food, add in good prices and friendly staff and you can't go wrong. Whether you sit on the patio or inside the service and food is fresh, hot and filling.

Stopped here for a fast workday lunch. I had a salsad with plenty of yummy flavorful chicken on it, husband had a snadwich. Very relaxed atmousphere, got crowded by the time we were leaving- a testement to the good food! Will be a regular.

A local casual wings joint with good food and good atmosphere. Featuring sauces from screaming hot to totally not on wings orders up to 200. Like everything in Portland it is smaller than it should be and the parking sucks. Otherwise a good family meal stop near downtown and OMSI.

We visited this restaurant recently on a Monday evening about 6pm. The place was packed, which is always a sign of good food. We got the only table for four available at the the time. If you like sitting outside, there are also a few tables along the sidewalk next to the building. The crowd was casual and friendly, as were the staff. We tried an appetizer consisting of sweet potato fries, onion wings and fried pickles, and it was tasty, nothing "out of this world" however. We followed that with salads, my wife and I shared an Oriental Salad that was we both thought, very, very good. I'd go back just for the salad. Finally, we ordered up a batch of wings with several different sauces ranging from mild to hot, including lime cilantro, raspberry habenero, and extra hot buffalo. I like spicy food, and found that even the 'extra hot" buffalo to be too mild for my taste, though I did like the flavor of the Lime Cilantro sauce. I asked for a small cup of their "butt kicker", what they call "El Jefe", and I found this one to be terrific, more than hot enough to challenge me, (I don't know that I'd be able to pound down the "El Jefe Challenge", (fifteen wings in three and a half minutes with no coolers) so I doubt I'll ever get a t-shirt, but I did like dipping the other milder wings into my sample of the El Jefe, and got a very intense burn that stayed with me for half and hour or so. I'd definitely order the El Jefe next time. The wait staff were very helpful and attentive, in spite of the full house crowd keeping them running, and overall, I'm sure this will be a regular stop any time we have a craving for wings.

Only thing better than the friendly staff and the awesome music set they were playing were the epic sauces! The homemade butterscotch pudding was delicious.

bit disappointed really. Didn't at all like the jerk wings and the boneless chicken wasn't particularly nice either. The chicken Coating seemed very vinegary. Still fries were okay and my husbands buffalo wings in BBQ sauce were good. Me and my friends tho not so keen. The beer had bits floating in it? Expensive for what it was

Hubby & I just got home from this place. We thought we could handle "hot". We are the type that nothing we find in stores is ever really hot enough for us. We both got the "Extra Hot" sauce for our wings. A few minutes into it, we were on fire. Hubby managed to power through his 18 wings (I have no idea how), but I had to give up only halfway through. I probably drank enough water to cause a water shortage in Portland. I have no idea how people order the "El Jefe" sauce. My advice would be to take them seriously when it comes to wing sauces. When they say HOT - they mean it! Good food though & fun atmosphere! I would go back, but maybe order the next step down.

Got the Jamaican Burger and the stoudt. Both were good choices. Burger was a little heave on one of the spices used in their jerk seasoning, but delicious, overall. Beer was great. Had a second beer, their tangerine wheat (I think), and it was tasty, as well. Would definitely go back.

Wing craving! Order as many as possible and bring the leftovers home. "Spicy Peanut" and "Hot" are my favorite sauces.

Pretty good food but it took a really long time to get our food out despite being a rather slow day. Everything was spicy, which we understood coming in. We ordered the jerk chicken salad --- I would have added more dressing to the salad. It was a bit dry. We also ordered the peanut sandwich, which was good but also maybe over the top on spice levels, while losing flavor.

We went to try the wings and were not disappointed. We ordered 18 wings for 2 people and 3 sauces -- Jamaican Jerk, Medium and Bourbon Chipotle. My favorite was the Jamaican Jerk. You are able to try their 12 sauces while ordering and I would recommend doing so. I love spicy but the el jefe was a little too spicy for me although our friend powered through his order of them. We also tried the fried pickles and they were pretty tasty as well. our beers were good. I ordered a dark beer and my other table mates had IPAs. The restaurant was very crowded so we shared a picnic table bench with some other people while there. I would recommend this place and go back.

I guess compared to other reviews, the wings we have had in Texas are better than we experienced here. The atmosphere was hip and funky and the staff was friendly. The beer was tasty. I liked the thick crunchy batter on the appetizer platter, with the pickles and onion rings. We tried 4 different flavors of wing sauces: raspberry chipotle- my fave; Chili lime; sweet bbq; and habanero. I usually do not like spicy but the flavors described at spicy were mild to me. I thought the wings were wimpy and overpriced.

deep fried twinkies! 'nuff said.

Like so many successful restaurants that expand, this place started out great appeasing the masses and building a steady clientele. Now, the wings............let's just say KFC is competing with them. Visited the restaurant last week and the wings were pathetic, small and overcooked. Wings used to be much bigger, but now they are cutting costs which if not careful will destroy their business. Load you up with tons of tater tots, serve you small uneventful wings and customers walk out full. NOT a formula for continued success. Best part of the night was the craft beer selection and prices. Probably won't return

Great wings - try the boneless. Sweet potato fries are the best in town, and food came out fast. You order at the counter and food comes to you, (the location on Fremont is full service). Great for a quick lunch bite!

Took out daughter here for her birthday at her request! Great chicken wings! Hot and spicy food! Large portions, great for sharing. Always busy, lots of people waiting to eat for dinner. Casual dining, cosy seating, indoors and outside. Great location!

Went here on a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. I had the medium spice buffalo wings with a blue cheese dip. The flavour was amazing and by far the best wings I have ever had. My girlfriend had the spicy peanut chicken salad which was equally as tasty. Would definitely recommend to others. Good value for money.

Really...this place nails the wings! Usually a long wait during dinner time and when sports games are on. I love getting the boneless wings and a side salad and throwing them together in one dish. The sauces are fun and original!

The wings are good. I'd say if you want to find a wings place go here. We had the special. 6 wings, salad and a drink was under ten bucks. Perfect amount.

What a menu - thank goodness the staff helped us figure out what everything was. Lots of choices and plenty to drink - beer, wine, kampuchea and soda. Sadly no coconut water :-( Plan to spend a lot of time there-so much to see. We'll be back

We make sure every visit to Portland to come by. They have some really good wings with a great variety of sauces. Their menu doesn't just have wings they have a pretty good variety of things to choose from. I typically get wings my girlfriend typically gets the nachos. If you have the opportunity you have to give this place a shot.

We had the hot buffalo chicken wraps and fried pickles. Food groups in their own right.. always a joy to stop in and visit. 👍👍

Third time here! My partner is vegan and this place makes the best vegan wings I've ever had. This time we split a six piece of sweet bbq and a six piece of spicy peanut. SO GOOD!

Had lunch with friends today. Tasty sauces and good service. So why the mediocre rating? Puny wings. Puny! Plus only two drumettes out of nine in the order. Too bad. The food was good but the wings themselves were very small.

I was very impressed here. The food was great and they even had vegan wings! They didn't seem too fake and were yummy. The cajun fries are literally amazing. I will go here again.

The best wings in NW US. Great variety of sauces to meet your desires (hot, mild, tangy, etc.). And you must get the fries to go with the wings. Boneless wings are very good as well. Don't let the "little" amount fool you. 3 boneless wings can fill you up.

Excellent service and good food and friendly people I been going here for years and prices are a little bit expensive

A friend told me about this place and had talked the food up quite a bit. I was skeptical, but I am pleased to say they didn't disappoint. If you like hot and flavorful the El Jefe is what you're looking for. If you want a little less heat, but still want a kick try the Bourbon Chipotle. Both were delicious. I started my meal with some fried Gouda which was everything I had hoped it would be. It was a nice flavorful chunk of gouda in a delicious breading and deep fried to perfection. I closed out my meal with an order of deep fried oreos. Also, they have a great craft beer selection. I will definitely be returning.

Been here too many times to count and have never been disappointed. If you're a group, then get as many different flavours as possible and share because all the sauces are amazing. Also leave room for the fries and desserts because it's not just the wings that are great. I can't wait till I'm next in Portland because it's high on the list of places I'll be eating at : )

and i'm not even a big wings fan -- too much work, not enough meat!!! friends from Portland's Hollywood district took me here not knowing I was less than a fan of chicken wings: well, Julia and her wonderful staff changed my mind... the flavorful boneless wings are delicious and less 'work' to eat, so I was already appeased. and then the choice of dipping sauces -- so many, SO little time and all different flavors and 'temperatures' to meet any palate. cannot wait to visit again (and again)!! thanks Julia, you and your staff run a first rate and fun place to eat, meet and greet!!

I can here under the pretense that it was "expensive" and upon seeing the menu was relieved, and even more relieved when the food was delivered. For 11 ish dollars you can get a pretty good sized sandwich and fries. I'm already biased because it's a chicken place, but the food was swell and the place itself offered a chill atmosphere and some interesting murals splashed across the walls to ponder. I have nothing to say about the wings because I'm not a huge fan and therefore didn't get any (I know, I know. It says in its very title it's a wing place. So what?)

Not bad but the hottest sauce has flat nothing on Salvador Molly's Great Balls of Fire.

This place serves delicious wings and awesome beers. This place was recommended to a friend and I by some Portland locals and they said this place had the best wings in town. We ordered boneless wings and settled on spicy peanut, buffalo lime cilantro and sweet bbq as the sauces. They say buffalo lime cilantro is soon to be famous and I have to agree. The flavors we ordered were all great but buffalo lime cilantro was our favorite. We also learned that this place brews their own beer so we knew we had to try it. I had the Dry Canyon Pale and my friend had the Wonderin' Rye. We enjoyed it. Next time I'll try the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout knows as the Electric Mud.

There are flavors for anyone and everyone! You can sample all their flavors before deciding. And there are choices from Jamacian Jerk to habanero to peanut. All of them are amazing and you can mix and match which I recommend so having the same flavor over and over doesn't get boring. And order the small basket unless you traditionally are a big eatter. I ordered 5 piece and it was WAY too much and I am a big eatter :)

This vegetarian loves their wings...the chicken ones!

I didn't think there was anything *special* about this wing place other than the fact that the accommodate a variety of diners (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, etc). That being said, the food was delicious!

We went here on the recommendation of someone who worked at Voodoo Doughnuts Too. The sauces are both spicy and tasty which is what we like. I had a salad and my son had some chicken dippers. Tasty and reasonably priced. My only wish is that I could order a six pack of their sauces for my husband for Christmas!!

Went to this restaurant for dinner and it wasnt to busy. Cheap food, expensive drinks. I got medium buffalo wings and they were fantastic. My boyfriend ordered a raspberry sauce with boneless wings and he wasn't impressed. Stick with the award winning sauces!

We stopped in for a quick meal and everything was excellent! Fresh house made French fries and crisp, well sauced wings. The dipping sauces seemed homemade as well. Excellent wing stop!

During our stay in Portland, we made "Fire On the Mountain" a must visit. It was so good, we ending up coming 3 times in one week! Upon entering, you will be welcomed by a local, eccentric place. The walls are covered with local artists, events and musicals. It was busy every single time we came- so you know this place is well loved by locals and Portland visitors alike! The menu is huge- it took us awhile to decide what we wanted to try. Their bar has a decent selection of local craft beers, and the prices at the beer where decent. For being a "wing" place, it has a vegan option (which seems almost all Portland restaurants offer a vegan choice) I ordered the vegan drumsticks and was blown away! It beats any mock meat I have ever tried at any place. That being said, all 3 visits I ordered and enjoyed those vegan drumsticks! My husband stated that the meat wings with hot sauce where out of this world, and we both became Fire on the mountain enthusiasts while staying in Portland. Fire on the mountain seems to be Portlands happening place, with great beer choices, and food for everyone! When I return to Portland, we for sure will be stopping back in here.

If you love wings, if you love beer, if you love eating, this is your place! So many choices of sauces for the wings, like spicy and EXTRA spicy, peanut sauce, too many to list here

I probably eat here too often. Vegan drumsticks with Jamaican jerk and a shocks of Sheba. I will never order anything else because I love the vegan drumsticks.

Wings, sandwiches, fried pickles! Vegan chicken wings!! A first for non meat eaters. You can taste the sauces before you order!! Staff very friendly .
