Very good Fill Grill

By JuanCarlos M |

Very good fish tacos and even better fish and chips. I repacked the fries with hush puppies. Also reasonably priced.

Bad choice

By Laurie C |

During the winter storm that hit us, it was hard to find an open place on the first Friday of Lent. We were happy to find this place open. We both ordered the seafood combo and calamari for an appetizer. As we are still in COVID restrictions, we took this order to go. Getting is was a bit of a drama to begin with. There are only 3 To Go spots, which meant we had to wait for a parking spot. The calamari was nothing but crumbs. I kid you know. Very few pieces of actual squid. Mostly crumbs but the sauce was good. The seafood platter was plentiful but not very tasty. in fact, it made but of us a bit nauseous afterwards. We will not be revisiting this place.

Business/pleasure

My husband and I are in San Antonio for business, just happened to come across this gem. I ordered the shrimp and grits with hush puppies, very good! My husband got the shrimp tacos. They had a wonderful flavor. Our waitress was wonderful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the restaurant was very clean.

Amazing

We alway have a great experience when coming to fish city. Lele our server was amazing and always recommends the best add ons and new choices to mix and try out! Never disappointed. Always will recommend her and fish city to family and friends that have not been yet!

"Fresh" Produce with worms!

By Nate M |

Worst experience/interaction at a restaurant ever. We arrived and sat at the bar. The hostess and bartenders were extremely friendly and helpful. Order a beer and a cocktail, with zero issues. Order the garlic and caper salmon and the fried shrimp with fries and broccoli. Food came out at a good pace. Began eating, and we notice a worm in the broccoli. We are not ones to make a big scene, but asked for the manager, since its not the server's fault. We spoke to the manager, and showed her the worm. She was horrified, as expected, just like us. She prepared a new plate, but we decided to not get any produce, didn't want to risk it. The manager brought out a new plate with fresh shrimp and fries. She brought maybe the head chef or someone from the kitchen. He begins talking to us by asking if we wanted to be on Fear Factor. I'm sorry, this isn't a joke, and attempting to placate our experience was just uncalled for. He describe their method of cleaning their produce, however after his initial comment, his words fell on death ears. Our server/bartender was ending her shift, and asked if we would like our check transferred to her relief or close out our tab. We closed our tab. In a shocking surprise, we were neither comped the worm infested meal or given some sort of discount for that entree. We paid, and asked the server why neither was done, she said that the manager decided not to do anything and that giving us a fresh plate was good enough. This experienced has shown the manager or kitchen manager doesn't care about quality or the service they provide. I was not expecting my entire check to be comped, but a meal with a worm should have been at the least. I will never go back here again, and tell my friends and family to stay away.

Very Good Food & Service

Had dinner here with the family, and really enjoyed it. Food was good, and the service was very good.

LOVE FCG

By Napunani |

We have always LOVED Fish City Grill their great service and food, so we were very happy that they opened this brand new restaurant close to us. Love their chalkboard specials. We ate here twice in 3 days - first lunch with server Sarah - super nice and friendly gal! Enjoyed oysters on the half shell and SERAFIN’S FISH TACOS - very good. Second visit with server Skylard - another super nice and friendly gal! Enjoyed 1/2 order of catfish and fried oysters and shrimp. Nice covered patio really expands the dining capacity here!

Cold Sides and Slow Service

By Britjude |

I don't know if if was because it was Veterans day but our party of 6 did not have a great experience. The waiter was great but the food service was slow, the oyster appetizers took a while to come out. When we got our main courses, the presentation/plating was simplistic at best. To be honest it looked like cafeteria food, plopped on a plate, no aesthetic appeal. However, we probably could have gotten over that had the food been good. Everyone reported that their sides were cold, the fish was hot, but the mashed potatoes and green beans were cold and the one person who had sweet potato fries reported cold fries. One final dish of the seafood boil showed up a good 10 minutes after everyone else's dish and unfortunately that was sent back as the crab legs were very over cooked. We did complain and received new side and removal of our entries from the bill. I will give them another chance on a different day but based on this we were not sold on this place. The décor and ambiance are nice but the food and slow service did not match on this night.

Excellent food and service

Great seafood restaurant

7010 W Loop 1604 N First time dining at Fish City Grill at 7010 W Loop 1604 N and could not have been happier with the food, service and all-around experience. My wife and I were eating out on our 22nd wedding anniversary and chose this location based on the online menu and reviews. She had the blackened cobia tacos on the special of the day menu and I had the fried seafood platter. Both were excellent as was the shrimp and crab queso appetizer. In addition, our waiter brought us a free sampler that included the roasted jalapeno soup, crab bisque, clam chowder and gumbo. All were delicious. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive throughout our meal and presented us with a 20% off coupon for our next visit. We were surprised that the place was not more crowded than it was on a Saturday evening, because the food and overall experience should be attracting a big clientele. Again, thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful dining experience. And for anyone thinking about visiting, don't hesitate. You're missing a great meal at a very reasonable price.

Lunch for 4 no beer please

By Chuck B |

We came here on Thursday for lunch. They had a sampler of soup that we tried. All 4 were very good. The 2 ladies didn't care for 1 each both different ones. Everything we ordered was excellent with a couple exceptions. First it seems to be priced a we bit higher than you'd expect. It's priced like you're on a tropical beach not 1604. A draft was $6. Get the idea. It was a windy day and chilly. When the front door opened the pressure caused the side door to open all the way. It stayed open till manually closed. Made it not very comfortable. Now the food. I had a blackened shrimp poor boy. It had a little far from fresh shrimp. It had a iodine taste. I should have sent it back. There were no other complaints. They shrimp cost them 1 star and the other issues the second.

First time and good experience

We had heard about this place and wanted to give it a try. On the first Tuesday of month a portion of sales benefit a charity so decided to visit. It is located on the 1604 access road in a shopping center and easy to find and park. They have both table and booth seating as well as an outdoor patio. The large bar is in the center and is part way indoors and part way outdoors with bar stools. They were not busy when we arrived for an early lunch but were getting busier as the lunch hour progressed. They have a large wall chalkboard with specials on it as well as paper menus. Our waiter, Andrew, was very prompt, professional, efficient and personable. The menu has a good selection of seafood as well as sandwiches. We were not rushed and were able to order timely. The food took a bit to arrive but worth the wait. Our order consisted of a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.99), a side of Steamed Garlic Spinach ($2.99), Hamburger ($10.99) and Shrimp Dinner ($15.49), The chowder was a small cup and very good, the spinach was a good side and very good. The Hamburger was ordered medium but came out a bit more than medium but good amount of fries and mostly good. The Shrimp Dinner we chose grilled and it came with a coleslaw and fries. The shrimps was cooked perfect, the slaw had a good flavor but appearance looked like it was from day before and the fries were very good. The noise level was not bad at all. They only have two restrooms and ladies was out of order but asked to use the men's and it was clean. They do have happy hour from 3-6 so might try it again during that time frame. Glad they have a location in this part of town now. Thanks Andrew for the great service.

Good food. Great Service!

We were seated on Saturday evening after a shorter than expected wait. Very nice dinner! Rocky made the experience even better. He was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Grilled Catfish received kudos and I enjoyed the Shrimp and Scallops.

Enjoyable Experience

By YO_LOOK_AT_ME |

We've been waiting to visit this restaurant for awhile and finally took the plunge. Though there was a bit of a wait, we "roughed it". Our server, Gavin, did a fantastic job and was very response to our needs and the food we had was fresh and tasteful. We'll visit again.

Fabulous Cajun seafood

By ben |

My go to for fantastic food in San Antonio. Our waiter, whose name is Zay was fabulous. He recommended various entrées that turned out to be great. He constantly returned to the table to see if we needed anything else. , and the Godfather entre was amazing And of course the bread pudding was out of this world as usual

Fantastic service, even better food!!

By Claire A |

Dined in with my close friends this past March. We had a spectacular visit, and will absolutely be back. We started with the oyster nachos (YUM, highly recommend) then enjoyed spicy margaritas. I’ve been trying to replicate at home, but I just can’t! Then I got the crab stuffed flounder and it was SO good. Basically I can’t recommend this place enough. It has a warm friendly vibe, the wait staff is amazing and attentive. The manager Trisha even came by and asked us how our meal was and if she could do any more for us. If you’re a family, on a date or just want to get dinner with friends this place has it all to make it a great time. Well done Fish City Grill, you have a loyal customer in me!

Great place for dinner and drinks - casual friendly environment

The food was great. Drinks were also very good. Inexpensive delicious mimosas. Our server, LeLe was efficient, accurate, friendly and kind.

Delicious food!

By Amyandshaun |

Delicious food! We went on a Friday and only waited about 10 minutes for a table around 5pm. Their wait seemed to grow by a lot within the hour though, so get there early or make a reservation. I had the Mahi Mahi Tacos and my husband had the lobster/shrimp roll. The hush puppies are great too.

Food is Great-This time Service was horrible

By pumpkin1062 |

We have been here many times and it has always been good. We were there yesterday and I ordered fried shrimp and oysters. I asked the server Jalyssa if I could change the sides and she said yes and listed several things. I chose the rice and beans and hushpuppies. Acted very put out that I asked. When we got the receipt, I was charged almost $6.00 for the rice and beans. I ask why and she laughed and said it is a up charge for changing. She NEVER said anything about the change when I asked about making a change. This is not right customers should be told, so we will not be back. Because of her smirk attitude they lost two customers that having been coming at least once a month for a long time.
