Excellent as always

Easy parking and excellent service. Three of us were there for an early dinner. Had the fish tacos and the fish and chips. Good fries and the gumbo. Will return.

Generous portions!

My first visit and highly impressed!! Plenty of menu choices, from appetizers to entrees...we ordered the smoked salmon dip and it was fair.. the crusty toasts were seasoned and good. Then I had the grilled shrimp plate with slaw and roasted potatoes! Very very good!! 10 medium shrimp, vinegar style slaw, and perfectly seasoned shrimp!! The only thing NOT on the menu that I usually see was BOILED SHRIMP!! Service was efficient and friendly! Would recommend highly!!

First time visiting this place and I loved it! Excelent food , very friendly staff and beautiful restaurant!

Good food, clean restaurant

By russkwtx |

Tried this new location for lunch on a Thursday. I had been to one at Mockingbird Station so I was familiar with their food. This location, being newly opened, is clean and modern. Service was attentive, asking for our drinks as we were sitting down! Had not exactly given it a lot of thought as I was walking to our booth. I had the lime cilantro shrimp tacos, three to an order. Shrimp was cleaned! Points for that. White corn tortillas! More points! Flavor was good but did not get much lime flavor. The Mexican rice was one of the best I ever ate, very unique and tons of fresh flavors. My mom had the fish and chips and loved the fish. They were fried perfectly and the fish was flaky. Tasted fresh, very light. The waffle fries were excellent. Prices are reasonable. Overall, good experience. Will return for sure. Maybe for happy hour when drinks are discounted.

Not a great visit this time

I've been to Fish City Grill on Skillman a few times, but the latest visit was the least satisfying. Service continues to be very good, but I found one item in particular to be overcooked and almost inedible. First, we split a Cup of Jalapeno Chowder, appropriately spicy and very tasty. Unfortunately the BBQ Salmon Tacos were overcooked, chewy and not worthy of the $14 cost (inexpensive but not good on this particular night). I'll be back again because the restaurant is near my neighborhood, and hopefully will have a better experience next time.

delicious fish sandwich!

Fun delicious restaurant. Good service! Fair prices and good portions. Fries and fish sandwich were hot and tasty. Bathroom clean and stocked.

Awesome seafood with personalized service

We had an unexpected experience eating here yesterday. It was my 10 year old granddaughter's turn to choose and she wanted to go here because they have the best chicken tenders and waffle fries for kids. But from the moment we walked in the door I knew we were in for a treat. The menu is primarily cajun (my favorite). I ordered andouille chicken and the wife ordered shrimp and grits. We passed on the fried oyster nachos, but finding that this was our first visit brought us a couple to sample along with samples of various sauces and gumbo and beans and rice. All quite unexpected and delicious.

Excellent waiter!!

Joel B is a delightful young man, he was very helpful to us selecting an appetizer and then splitting our meal. So much food!!! He was super nice and attentive.

Poor changes

We have enjoyed Fish City for years as one of our favorite restaurants. After several months away we returned today to find a changed menu, a greatly disappointing menu. We have little interest in returning. Service good menu poor.

Nice Place...I Will Be Back

By Kurt V |

My first time trying a Fish City Grill, they had a lot of specials on a big board and a nice menu...something for everyone. Since I never visited a Fish City Grill before they brought be a sample plate with soups, red beans and rice and a taco. I really liked the sample items except for the "beef" soup...had a spice I did not recognize. I had the Cobb salad with blackened shrimp...VERY GOOD!

Great Food

By eichsttl |

Six of us ate lunch here on a recent Friday. It was busy but they had a table for us. Our food was excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had a Cajun shrimp pasta special that was very tasty. We will definitely go back.

Very, very good

Wanted our seafood fix and had heard of this place and finally got the chance to visit. Not disappointed. Seafood platter with oysters, catfish, shrimp. Had it blackened. Cooked great. Taste spot on. Coleslaw, ewww, too much vinegar taste. Spinach cooked good but a little bland. Overall, great meal and we'll be back.

Excellent place for lunch

By Bluindallas |

Today I took my mom to this location for lunch. I haven't been to Fish City Grill since they were on Knox/Henderson near Greenville Ave (a long time ago). I have been missing out! I wanted to take my mom for a good seafood lunch that didn't cost an arm and a leg. We were not disappointed. Our server Trish asked if we had been before, and after hearing it had been a few years, the manager brought out samples of what they have to offer. Oyster Nachos (I hate oysters), but they were actually fabulous! They brought out several samples of soup (great tasting) and red beans (great also). Mom ordered the BBQ Salmon tacos and I ordered fried catfish and fried shrimp. Everything was so good and fresh. I hate I hadn't looked to see where they moved when they left the old location I used to visit. I will definitely will be returning again and so will my mom. Thank you Trish for a lovely visit!

Lunch Was Good

Nicely designed, comfortable restaurant. Daily specials are nicely prepared and attractively served. Bartendress was great and knowledgeable of menu items. I would go back again.

Excellent service and food

Service is outstanding. Ask for Kevin. We had a late lunch. The burger and fries were very good. Great fish tacos. Also had the gumbo and finished with key lime pie. Both very good. Full bar and a good happy hour. Easy parking.

Great food & atmosphere!

I visited Fish City Grill on a Saturday night. The place was packed, so I sat at the bar to eat & watch football. I had a glass of wine & the Horseradish Encrusted Salmon. It was excellent!! The salmon was not over cooked & the horseradish was not over powering. I asked to substitute the snap peas for green beans which they happily did. So glad, because I really enjoyed them. (I'm not a pea fan, but snap peas are okay, I just prefer the fresh green beans!) The bar staff was excellent and I apparently sat next to a regular customer who knew everyone. Good conversation, football on TV, and excellent food. Great neighborhood atmosphere. I enjoyed my dinner out!!

Avoid the Bar Maid

By Richard B |

Don’t get the barmaid as your server. Poor service, messed up the order..!!! Ask for another server when she comes to the table.

Great seafood restaurant!

By Tom W. |

After discovering that this location was open, I tried it for lunch by myself and then at dinner with my wife, all in the same day. We have eaten at the Las Colinas and Preston Royal locations may times and always had a great meal. This new addition in Lake Highlands is closer to us and is every bit as good as the other two. The manager, Mark, is a great guy, as is all his staff. Ashley at the bar makes wonderful cocktails, Assuntay and McKenzie are super servers. We will be returning many times I'm sure!

Definitely a must visit

Excellent service. Excellent food. Firs time eating here and we had an excellent experience. Shout out to Joel our server for ensuring that everything was satisfactorily. Price was very reasonable. I expected it to cost a lot but imagine my surprise. The Restaurant itself was super clean. I will be back and recommend everyone to put this on your list of “Go to” Restaurants. Ask for Joel. Great dude. Top knotch and very professional. He knows his stuff.

Good food and good atmosphere.

Seated promptly on a busy Saturday night. Brighton provided attentive service. The salmon quinoa salad was large and tasty. The shrimp po boy was loaded.

Better Than I Remembered. Good Seafood & Not All Fried

By MarkMM55 |

Went to Fish City Grill for the first time in sometime and was pleasantly surprised. Had been to other locations, but this one is fairly new so we decided to give it a try. I had the andouille chicken with andouille sausage and red beans and rice. My wife had the shrimp tacos which come with fried shrimp, but she asked that they be grilled instead and they were happy to accommodate her. Both dishes were very good. I will say that the grilled chicken on my andouille chicken dish had little flavor but the red beans and rice and andouille sausage were very good. Service was attentive if a tad on the slow side, but we were in no hurry and it was nice to not be rushed for a change. We found several non-fried dishes on the menu and on the specials slate, so that works for us. There is a full bat with four/five craft draft beers. The noise level was a tad high as all walls are hard surfaces. But, we were still able to carry on a conversation without much issue. Yep, we will be back. Worth a visit.

New Restaurant in Neighborhood that is A+

By Randy D |

This is a new location for a seafood restaurant chain. Staff was great - friendly and attentive. Food was wonderful. Cannot wait to go back again. Crowded - but worth the wait. There were some children that were loud and running around - I do blmae the restaurant - parents should know better.

Awesome Food and Service

By mcgotes |

Hadn't been to FCG in awhile and was very pleasantly surprised to share dinner with friends this week. Great service, nice menu options and other than the prices on select items, will definitely return. Specifically the shrimp and grits, red beans and rice and salmon entrees were outstanding. All vegetables served with entrees were outstanding! The desserts were delicious and my only disappointment was that my entree was served barely warm and I prefer a steaming hot meal.

A true gem in Lake Highlands.

We are a repeat customer, We’ve never had anything that wasn’t exceptional. Tonight it was ruby red trout simmered in a pouch with vegetables, most amazing dish we’ve had in a very long time. Our server Joel was outstanding. Make sure you try to gold margaritas to start off with. Highly recommended

Pleasantly Pleased by Delicious Food and Very Good Service

New location for this chain in new neighborhood retail complex. Excellent service. No problems with requests for extra condiments and subsitutions. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Seafood platter was great. Catfish fillets very good and fried shrimp plate was delicious.

My Favorite Seafood now in Neighborhood

By Wayne E |

We love Fish City Grill and it’s other identity Half Shells, the new location is in the LH Town Center and all our favorite dishes are now only minutes away. The gumbo is my go to side dish, closest gumbo I’ve tasted since living in New Orleans. My wife loves the Talapia dish.

Really great food, what a great addition to Lake Highlands

By AVGTXN |

Wednesday night. What a great addition to Lake Highlands. Our trout was fresh and flavorful. Yummy hush puppies. Love the vinegar-based cole slaw. Since this was our first time, the manager brought over samples of their soups and also complimentary fried oyster tacos (?). All was very good. My only disappointment was our server never refilled our drink glasses. That aside, we'll definitely be back. Can't wait to try lunch.

Keep your restrooms in order.

By Peter L |

Food is always great, I usually order oyster on the half shell as an appetizer and a main meal. Tonight I had to use the rest room. Both toilet paper dispensers were empty and the paper towel for drying my hands was empty also. We I went to the desk to inform them of the problem, the lady manager said I was the one being rude! This manager should not be exposed to the paying public, I should not have talked to her waitress informing her of the problem. I would think that running a restaurant your rest rooms need to be in order. I find this manager being red and I have many friends and family that can eat at many places, and for her to talk to me in such a manner is un called for.

Better than I expected

May be a goto place for fried seafood. Other stuff is not bad and there is zero ambiance. Could be a McDs if there was not a bar and was a playground.

Excellent service. Very good food.

By Jim D |

Excellent service. Very good food. Wife had the gumbo that was a bit spicy and very tasty. Daughter tried the fish and chips. Went through them with ease. Son in law had the salmon and lt was cooked nicely. I had the shrimp cocktail and a house salad. Excellent. Throw in a slice of key lime pie and the lunch was worth remembering.
