I haven't been here for dinner, but for lunch it's a great place. Good food, good service, but tough parking.

Nothing fancy, but the food and service are always excellent. Kevin, our waiter, was efficient and polite. As to food, the shrimp appetizer was very good. For entrees, the blackened catfish and the chicken breast salad was equally very good. Will return.

After several days of BBQ needed a break. Found them on line and gave them a shot. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next night too. Very good selection of seafood, sort of New Orleans style, reasonably priced. They were very busy which is a good sign in a seafood restaurant. I had Copper River salmon the first night and East coast scallops the next. Great job on both, not overcooked, seasoned nicely well presented. Also tried the Oyster "nachos" and they were good as well. Contrary a couple of the reviews, I found the portions quite ample especially for the price point. Sorry to the couple of people that didn't think the portions were big enough, I am assuming they do not know the cost of the products involved. I do as I am in the food business.

After a day of conference classes , dinner choices in Dallas were plentiful. We decided on seafood. The seafood at Fish City Grill was impeccable! Shrimp, catfish, oyster heaven! Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere!

FC is a regular for us. It was good to see some new menu items. Overall, still very good food and great service. Had the new tuna appetizer and with other traditional items, had a good meal. The food is not fancy, but very good. The service as always was excellent.

Our go to place in Dallas. Good food and a diverse menu. Outstanding service by Kevin and others. Had the fish and chips and a Cobb salad with chicken (large chicken breast). Decent house wine. Simply, a good and casual dinner.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, but it was a little crowded by the door. That confused me as we assumed there was a wait, but we were sat right away. It was casual with a couple of boards on the wall showing a secret wine menu and catch-of-the-day options. In addition, the menu is two pages, which indicates to me that none of the items are "throw-away" to fill in gaps. I generally appreciate a menu of only fully thought-out dishes. I had a fresh squeezed mint lemonade with vodka, which was wonderful. They had a number of fresh squeezed juices to choose from and they each sounded great. My husband and I couldn't decide between a number of things and didn't have a lot of time, so we ordered two appetizers for our dinner. We had the oyster nachos and the lump crab cake. When they came, we were a little disappointed by the small amount of food. With the nachos, I appreciated that each chip had every ingredient on it, but I didn't enjoy that there were only six chips. Each chip was maybe two bites making it about $1.50 per chip and $.75 per bite. Also, I didn't really taste the oyster very well. I understand that's what makes the dish pricey, but it should be the star of the dish if that's the case. The crab cake was excellent. Again the portion was not great, but each bite was fantastic. The big let down is that we had to eat again when we got home later that night. We might be back to try another dish as the dishes were tasty, but we may stick with the fish tacos and leave without any extras. I do like this restaurant overall, but was unhappy that I was still hungry.

The two of us went for a late lunch. An excellent Cobb salad (very large) with chicken (very moist) The cod sandwich was a very good piece of lightly battered cod. Good waffle fries as a side. Decent happy hour wines. As always, the service by Kevin was outstanding.

I've eaten here dozens of times, and I've never had a bad meal here. Several years ago toward the end of the meal, I mentioned to the server that the entree size seemed smaller than I had remembered from prior visits. Within minutes, the server showed up with another full plate (not just entree, but the sides as well), and said it was on the house. I didn't ask for this; they just wanted to insure that I was completely happy. The food is always very high quality, as is the service. Highly recommended for casual seafood.

My wife and I love to eat here. I thought I had tried everything on the menu, but one day I decided to try their firey shrimp appetizer. That was incredibly good. I ordered it again the very next time we went there. My favorite items here are the fish and chips, the salmon salad, the blackened tilapia sandwich, and the fried catfish. Those are all on the menu, and they also have fantastic specials that I've also really enjoyed. You really can't go wrong here, no matter what you pick. The staff is friendly and helpful, and almost all the servers have been working there for years and years. They have very little turnover in their staff, so you know they love to work there as much as we love to eat there. It makes a huge difference. Every time we go, we see other people who love the place as much as we do.

I have been coming to this neighborhood gem since it opened back when I use to live in this neighborhood. Service is always outstanding, food is great, trying a daily special always leads to finding a new favorite dish. Combining their Clam chowder and Jalapeño soup is a taste explosion! My absolute favorite item is the Serfin fish tacos which is actually 2 burritos that gives you another meal the next day it's so big.

This is a go-to restaurant for my friend and me. We always know we can find something we like here. Very friendly staff, and such good food.

Fish & Chips is the best in Dallas.Service is always first rate. Everything here is first rate. Just an excellent small seafood restaurant.

First, the service was excellent. Second, the food was very good at a fair price. The blackened catfish and the chicken Cobb salad were great. Good appetizer in the shrimp. Overall, a very good night.

Oyster Nachos, sound strange, try one and then place your order for another round, they are delicious. Everything there is pretty much delicious, always. They have wonderful daily specials and / or the fish tacos are always the best. The soups are not that great, hit or miss, but everything else gets a most excellent.

Weekly, we go there and enjoy a night out as a family. The food good and prices are very reasonable. If ever an issue, the manager acts quickly and handles immediately. Highly recommend.

Fish City Grill is part of a chain but feels like a family run restaurant. You'll see the same staff and customers almost every time you visit. A friend of mine talked me into trying their Fried Oyster Nachos back in October and I've been hooked ever since. This fried oyster appetizer is served on a crisp chip with a dab of Chipotle sauce and covered with fresh Pico de Gallo. Fish City has several good creamy soup offerings but my favorite is Roasted Jalapeno Soup. This combo makes for a quick delicious lunch or dinner. Six Fried Oyster Nachos are $8.99 but if you go on Wednesdays they sell them for $6 Bucks.

The food and service here is excellent. Atmosphere is casual. Its small and cozy. Favorite place to go for fish or seafood.

Went for a late lunch. Outstanding service by Marshall. Excellent Very good fish tacos and excellent cod sandwich. Excellent meal and service.

My spouse and I visited Fish City Grill on a weekday evening and got one of the very last tables available at the time (by 7 pm, however, there was lots more availability). Like the atmosphere and the fact that they've got a bar where you can sit for dinner as a single if you want. Our server Jennifer was very attentive, and quite flexible in accomodating a couple of dietary needs. I ordered one of the specials -- the Red Snapper Bourbon Street. It's basically a blackened snapper served jambalaya style, with small shrimps, andouille sausage slices, red beans and white rice, and a fabulous sauce. The fish was outstanding, and a very healthy portion. Perfectly cooked! My spouse thoroughly enjoyed her rainbow trout, also grilled. We split a side salad which offered just enough bites for a split portion, but not so large as to overwhelm you. All said and done, we walked out very satisfied and already looking forward to a return visit, hopefully sometime soon.

I don't give out 5 star reviews often but this place is fantastic. If it's your first time there make sure you tell your server because they offer you a sample plate that will help u with your decision. You can thank me later. After tasting the sampler plate I went with the Oyster Nachos for my app. Omg it's so good then for my meal they had a special on the board. Flounder with red beans & rice. This was good also and I washed it down with some Peach Tea. Everything was fantastic from the food to the customer service. I love it when the manager comes around just to make sure everything is good and he did and it was. Give this place a try you won't be disappointed.

Bottom line...this place is amazing. From the friendly staff to the comprehensive and affordable menu to the service time and fresh, made to order, items...I could go there every day...and one of friends DOES go several times a week.

We had to wait 40 minutes on. Saturday night for a table for 6. However, our spot was cozy and we had plenty of room, even though this place was small. A lot of food was fried, but there were some grilled selections as well. I had the grilled rainbow trout with seasonal veggies. I was happy to have a healthy option when coming with a group. Service was attentive and prices were decent.

We love the Fish City at Preston Rd. & Royal Ln. The restaurant was recently remodeled inside and out. The food is delicious and many of the friendly wait staff have worked there for years! As it is a neighborhood favorite, the majority of the clientele are regulars. Their Mardi Gras celebration includes live music and games yielding prizes for gift certificates, cooking classes, etc.

Three things about Fish City Grill: (1) their seafood is always fresh and well-prepared (2) their prices are very reasonable for what you get and (3) try their soups, particularly the Jalapeno and the Clam Chowder.

We had a wonderful lunch. Great service and pleasant atmosphere. Accomadating for small children for seating and ...macaroni and cheese.

This is a rather small unassuming place with great, fresh food. I had char with two fresh, perfectly cooked vegetables. Others had trout and catfish. All were tasty. Service was quick and food very reasonable. We would come again.

Good fish dishes. Like the oyster nachos as an appetizer. See the specials. Always have had great service. Regular stop for seafood. Also, we have high regards for them for their Veteran's Day program. Thank you Fish City Grill!

Very good and inexpensive food. Excellent service provided by Kevin. A very good cod sandwich and a salad with good, moist chicken. Happy hour on selected drinks.

This location seems more like a neighborhood favorite than a "chain" restaurant. We were greeted by the manager and immediately offered a sampler of six soups and a complimentary Oyster Nacho. Sat down at the bar and never got up thanks to fabulous service from Gloria and Jennifer. Stop in next time you're in the neighborhood. You'll feel right at home.

Terrific restaurant with tasty food, friendly staff, and good seasonal variety. Informal in decor and reasonably priced, the one drawback is wait time. Sadly, no reservations for small groups. Hence, get there before your hunger does. Enjoy!

Had good food but the portions were kinda skimpy. I had the blackened shrimp and honestly was shocked at how small the portion was. I definitely did not get filled up and was looking for something to eat as soon as I returned home. The food was good, but just not enough of it.

Fish City is a weekly to bi weekly event for us . The vibe is neighborhood w/o the need to put on N. Dallas "airs." WE LOVE KEVIN, our usual server. Unfortunately, so does everyone else, and it would have been a 30 minute wait for him. Ergo, we got to experience Sam and he did not disappoint! The margarita and old fashioned set the tone for the evening, and the key lime pie was divine!

Always good. Always busy. Service always with a smile and efficient. A great neighborhood restaurant/bar. Waiting is fun because everyone stands near the bar and visits. Have met many people and ended up sharing a table. Food is consistently good and blackboard specials are outstanding.

A nice quiet place with very good food at a reasonable price. Had the shrimp appetizer, which is spicy yet not overly hot. For entrees, had the chicken Cobb salad, the fish tacos and the blackened catfish. All very well done. Excellent service by Tommy.

this is a small and very popular place and parking is somewhat of a challenge. if you master all of that the food is worth it. the soups are good as is all the shrimp. the oyster nachos are good for sharing.

This is my families "go to" restaurant as is just down the road from my In-Laws who are both in their late 80's. The staff here treat them so well and the food is amazing.

Great service, good flavors, nice portions, and big, beautiful shrimp...but some of them were crunchy with remnants of shells. It kind of ruined an otherwise outstanding lunch.

This little place does a great business and the reason why is that they have outstanding food and great fish specialities. It is a casual, family place, but with a full bar and good wine and cocktail list. Lots of great everyday specials. Usually a wait but they move things along. Excellent local spot.

A good place to relax in a casual atmosphere when you don't feel like fine dining. The oyster nachos are a must!

my friend wanted seafood for her 103 birthday. this place was wonderful. food was outstanding. every one was so nice and sang happy birthday to her. the waitstaff was very attentive.

First, great service. Thanks Kevin. Had a late lunch. Good happy hour wine. Both the Cobb salad and the fish tacos were very good. Diverse menu and specials. Lots of parking. Will return.

We previously ate in one in Plano & it was so good we never imagined it to be a chain. When we saw this one we tried it, and it was even better than we remembered top notch, nice atmosphere, great service😀. We will be looking for these when not near the one in Plano!!

Had a late lunch. The cod sandwich, fries and the salad with chicken was very good. All very plentiful. A good wine list by the glass. Excellent service and plenty of parking.

Dropped in for dinner with my brother. Waiter was friendly and attentive. I had fried shrimp and oysters. Was tasty. The Cole slaw was just ok. The margarita on the rocks was good. Good restaurant.

Our table had oysters, calamari, fried pickles, fish tacos and the trout special. Not a bite was left. Staff was attentive and helpful.

This was by far one of our favorite places!!! Such incredible service...Ask for Ron...he is awesome! The manager was top notch! They treated us like family! The food is amazing! Shrimp & grits, flounder with red beans & rice were outstanding! We will be back next trip to Dallas!

Food was impeccable. Their famous oyster nachos are famous for a reason. They were delicious. Service was astounding and very friendly. Great restaurant that I would highly recommend.

Daughter and I went here again after a while of patronizing newer restaurants. Wednesday afternoon about 3:00 PM. I had the crab bisque for an appetizer; then the half-order of fried catfish with 2 sides: rice and slaw. 2 hushpuppies included. Daughter had the full order of the same. Key lime pie for her; bread pudding for me. Kevin, our waiter, was excellent.

I go here a lot because it is in my neighborhood but I keep going back for the food and the amazing staff. They are always so friendly and most have been there for awhile too. They always have delicious daily specials so be sure to look at the board. Its a very friendly neighborhood bar/restaurant. They recently remodeled it to and I love the changes. I wish that I could name every employee and manager on here that has ever greeted me and asked how I am doing. The food is great and it always comes out hot and promptly. This place does get busy during dinner especially so I would avoid going at the typical dinner time. It is not a big restaurant so you may wind up waiting. They close at 10 so I like going either for early dinner or if not 8 pm dinner. I would keep going to this restaurant even if I moved from the area for the food and the friendly atmosphere. There is plenty of parking. I love the gumbo here and the ruby campfire trout is yummy and healthy too. I hear people raving about the lobster nachos and the crawfish when they are in season. I will ad photos later if that is possible because I know that I have a lot.

The grilled chicken sandwich sounded really good and honestly I wanted to see what the fish looked like before ordering it. Well, my sandwich was fabulous! It was marinated in Louisiana Hot Sauce and was served with an olive pesto (I don't even like olives but this was SO GOOD). I will say I am planning a trip back because the fish and chips looked great - hot, crispy, juicy, delicious.

I hadn't been here in several years as I had moved away and it was always crowded when I lived nearby. Joined some friends during a quick trip back to the area. Good food - delicious raw oysters and gumbo. Atmosphere is lively but not too loud. Worth a trip back.

My husband always orders an evening special. I like their soups and fish and chips. Pleasant bar atmosphere. They seem to always have an early dinner crowd. It has a nice neighborhood vibe. Service is always good. It’s also a convenient location for everyone in the Preston-Royal area.

Can't say enough good things about the consistently delicious food and friendly waitstaff at this small, neighborhood eating establishment. My family and I have been eating here for many years. My only complaint is that there is no reservation system. You can call ahead to see how long the wait is for a table, but there is no way to get your name on a list nor is there any way to make a reservation on-line. So plan to wait when you arrive. Sometimes as long as 30 minutes! Be aware that booths are extremely narrow in regards to seating comfort. I find them quite constraining and uncomfortable and I'm not a large person - ask for a table instead. Majority of tables are for four people. So large groups are not an option here. Don't miss the "Chalk Board Specials" that change constantly. Again, great food and friendly service!

A friend of mine who goes there regularly suggested we have dinner there . Warm welcome, efficient service, good portions of good classic food ! Will be back !

We eat at Fish City Grill at least 3-4 times a month. The food is extraordinary. We have friends who live in Florida who swore that FCG had better seafood than they could get in Ft. Lauderdale! The atmosphere is casual. The service is friendly and fun. The waitstaff wear shirts that say things like "If you are drinking to forget, please pay in advance" There is almost always a wait to be seated, but it is next door to Pier One, so we just get a pager, and go do a little window shopping until we are called.

I love Fish City Frill, the shrimp and grits are delicious! They also have good bar drinks, ok wine and my husband always gets the fish special and has never been disappointed. We come here often and other than having to wait ( because the food is so good) we have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend Fish City Grill

Very consistent and good. The service is outstanding. For food, the fish tacos and the shrimp and grits were very good. Will return again.

this is a causal dining setting but don't let that fool you. The menu is widely varied and is very tasty. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable concerning the menu.

Couldn't get into NHS grill until 8:30. Fish City was 5 minutes. Our first time there. We got a first time visitor sampler for free. How cool is that? The manager came over and explained the items on the sampler. My wife ordered fried catfish, which she said was very good. I had the shrimp and grits, some of the best I have had. Nice cozy atmosphere, with good service. We'll definitely go back

I was absolutely Amazed. There were people standing around waiting to be seated this food was good. I met friends here to eat and I have since took my children back to eat. It was Great. Large portions (if you like larg portions), great Wait Staff, and delicious food. We all ordered different food, and ate a lil off of each others plates. The Red Fish, the Tilapia, Soup, Salad, Shrimp and Fried Catfish was absolutely delicious and most devinely Fresh. I absolutely Loved it.

When our group of 6 arrived for a late lunch and saw a line out the front door, we had a clue this place is popular. Now we know why! We had to wait a little while with no place to sit, but when our food came, the wait was all forgotten. I ordered the stuffed flounder and remembered why I love that dish so much. Everyone in our group said Fish City served the best meal we had during our 2-day Dallas outing. It's worth the wait (and it's not too long.) Really good seafood!

Quaint small restaurant. Go early, fills up fast. Great waiter who recommended a non-oak Chardonnay that wasn't on their wine list. The 4 of us drank 2 bottles along with a wonderful dinner of Copper River salmon. A hidden gem in the corner of a strip mall; step in & shut out the city. Fresh catches are on the blackboard. Give yourselves a treat!

Outstanding Food the Fish is has always been good. Outstanding Service. Variety of Choices and Prices. Highly Recommend A Visit!

Nothing fancy, but consistent with great service. Good appetizers (dynamite shrimp And oyster nachos). Always good specials. Fish tacos are very good and sizable. Gluten free items available. Go early or late. Dinner hours can be crowded. A lot off regulars.

A great place to go for a quick lunch or dinner. Had the cod sandwich (huge and delicious) and the fish tacos (sizable and very good , have the fish blackened). Good sides offered. Great service by Kevin. Very personable and good at his job. Will continue to go back.

We eat at Fish City at least once a week! The staff goes out of their way to be accommodating and the food is always of a good fresh dependable quality.

This is truly a hidden gem--tucked off the N Dallas Pkwy, it has Fresh fish, salads, grilled, fried or raw options. Quick service, always hot and flavorful. The cole slaw is most excellent and portions are generous.

We visit once or so a month, and always enjoy Fish City. Quiet little neighborhood atmosphere with great service. Nothing fancy about the food, but always good with some really good appetizers.

Always on the quest for good fresh fish and found this spot in the Preston Hollow area. We ordered the salmon salad on kale and it was outstanding with the right amount of tossed dressing. I would highly recommend this place.

Just keep coming back to like going home. Thought it was time to share a meal. Let's get right to it. I had a cup of gumbo. Rich flavored with lots of protein. Followed by the fish taco plate. Had green beans instead of rice. BEST fish tacos anywhere. Green beans perfect. Tasted the crab cake. Not a filler cake with crab. This was the real deal. Available in a meal if you ask.. The rainbow trout was Excellant... The skin was a treat. Service was great. Thank you Maryessa... Looking forward to the next excuse to come in.

This place is tucked away in a strip mall but sounded good on reviews so we decided to try it. It was a casual atmosphere with higher end food choices. They had excellent service and the food was very good! We were very glad that we found this little place, it was wonderful!

This neighborhood restaurant always delivers on excellent food, service and atmosphere. Ask for Mike - he’s a wonderful server and a nice guy.

Always great low key dinner! Cold beer and good variety of fish! Love to go during the week for a simple, good meal.

A fun, neighborhood restaurant with a daily menu having fresh seafood & other nice choices. Consistent

We had not stopped in for a while to Fish City Grill. We left wonderful why we don't go more! The soups were fantastic and the entrees were better than ever. Creative and delicious. I highly recommend the grilled peach topped salmon served with homemade cornbread. Outstanding!

This location has always been good and now it is great. The specials are imaginative and creative. The presentation has taken a real step up and the service is delightful. Ask for Jade she is excellent.

Known for Gulf fresh seafood prepared with flair. Both of us had the honey thyme beurre blanc, pecan crusted founder over savory buttermilk mashed potatoes with sauteed garlic broccoli. Prepared perfectly with a light complex sauce. Finished the lunch with a yummy slice of key lime pie. Highly recommend.

This was our first visit to Fish City Grill and it will be our on radar next time we are in the area. Definitely a well run restaurant with a reasonably diverse menu with affordable prices. Kevin, our waiter, was spot on with his service. Thank you Kevin. Our meals were the shrimp Po Boy on a fresh baguette and hot, out of the oven fries and the fish and chips plate with an order of slaw on the side. The plate came with a few HOT hush puppies. Three pieces of lightly battered cod and a huge portion of fries made for a fully satisfied person. The slaw, even with some salt and pepper, was a little bland. If possible, the next visit will be during their Happy Hour to take advantage of the awesome drink specials. Give it a try.

Being from the East Coast, we appreciate quality fish. FCG has the best fish fresh from the Gulf. Even the shrimps and grits are better than the ones served in Charleston, SC. The Red fish is prepared very well. No oil fish! Great taste. Love the clam chowder!

Service was excellent, particularly that by our waiter, Kevin. Had the Cobb salad with seared tuna and the fish tacos with the chicken blackened Both were very good. Decent happy hour wine.

We read a lot about this place. And the fish was just ok for all the hype (sorry!!!). Service a little slow. Took over an hour to get main entrees. Would we go back ... probably not. (Sorry again). Good thing. Took our reservation by phone and arrived and was sitter fast.

We dine at the Firewheel location regularly and it is fantastic-- not so much at this one. Service was disjointed and clumsy. They messed up our order twice, brought the entrees at almost the same time as the oyster appetizer and kept switching servers. The food quality was clearly not the same as the other location. The presentation was sloppy and the preparation was average at best. Just a mediocre experience that was seriously dissapointing.

We liked the atmosphere, the food and the service. If you are going in a party of more than five, your waiting time will be long.

We come here a few times a year with my parents, who live in the neighborhood. Over the years I've come to appreciate this place more and more. The service is great and the food is steady and always good. I always order one of the blackboard specials and am never disappointed. The latest one I ordered was a grilled salmon dish with a crazy-good side of a creamed corn/shrimp/andouille sausage mix. The regular menu dishes are fine but somewhat boring. Stick with the specials! Sometimes I order their special seasonal drinks and those are always good, though the day after Christmas they were out of 2 of the 3 (the mulled wine and the egg nog). I wanted the egg nog but was told the bartender was "too busy" to make more until later that day (he didn't look busy since there were two people at the bar and everyone else in the restaurant who was drinking had wine). That was a disappointment but pretty much the only one I've experienced here. The desserts are ok, but nothing exciting. The key lime pie and pecan cobbler are the usual ones we all order and both are good. I'd like to see them have some seasonal desserts or specials but it's always been the same choices on the menu since we've been coming here year after year. And we'll keep coming here since it's one of the few places my dad doesn't gripe about. If they can keep pleasing an 89 year old grump then I guess they're ok by me.

Such a great seafood menu and the margaritas and hurricanes were outstanding. All the food was really fresh and service was fantastic, considering we were there 4 hours!! Parking is tough but worth it!!

First, the service was excellent. Quick and efficient. The food was very good and inexpensive. The salads are good and the blackened seafood are excellent. Full bar and wines. All on the cheaper end.

Do not hesitate, go HERE. I have lived in Dallas for 20 years. This was one of the most comfortable and delicious eating experiences I’ve had in Dallas. I am fat and have travelled the world, I know good food. If you eat here you will get fresh and delicious fish or you will be transported to New Orleans and have the best rendition of New Orleans food I’ve had outside of New Orleans – except without the price or travel. The service was magnificent and casual. Tommy, our waiter, was excellent. I have a new favorite restaurant. I could write 5 more paragraphs about what we ate, but I’m guessing that you can’t go wrong with Tommy as your waiter and his advice. Say hello to Alexis the manager. Just wow, these people know how to cook and run a restaurant.
Fresh Seafood Cooked Any Way You Like
While visiting Dallas, we were take to this restaurant by family, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Seafood, and how well cooked it was. This is definitely a seafood restaurant that will not disappoint. And, dishes available for any price budget.
