The food was very good: The home baked bread is really good and it goes well with kashk-o-bademjoon; although, the kashk-o-bademjoon was a bit on the bland side. I thought it needed more good quality kashk. The tahdig was a bit too hard. The waiter warned me about it and told me that it didn't come out good, but I wanted to try it. He was right! It was VERY hard, but after a few minutes, he brought us another batch that was excellent. We had it with gheymeh. The gheymeh doesn't come meatless. I had forgotten to tell the waiter that my daughter was vegetarian, so he brought some vegetarian bademjoon, which was totally unexpected, since the bademjoon does not even come with tahdig! Kudos to the waiter and the cooks! The chenjeh kabab was outstanding! The best I've had in Los Angeles. I've been to Raffi's and all of Westwood/Valley Persian restaurants. This one was the best! Very good quality filet, no fat, very clean meat and done perfectly. The amount of rice was above average. The vegetables could be grilled a little more, but still very good. We had a non-Iranian guest with us who ordered the chicken koobideh with half salad, half rice. The salad looked like a meal by itself! It had so many different vegetables in it: beets, pineapples, radishes, etc...in addition to the usual lettuce, cucumber, tomato! And the half rice looked like a full rice to me!!! The waiter and busboy were very attentive, personable, and courteous. I wish I had asked the waiter's name to mention it here, but he made us feel welcomed. (The young, on the taller side guy) The only 2 complaints that I would make are the fact that the place was too quiet and at the beginning it was too warm! I think they need to play some soft Persian music and set the temperature to a comfortable level. They did turn on the AC a little later, though. I would definitely recommend Flame Persian Cuisine and visit them again!

We have been frequenting this restaurant for many years. The service and food quality has been always high level and consistent. The prices are a tad above average. Parking is a challenge. We usually order the Tahdig (crunchy rice) with one or two stews on top for an appetizer. The popular dishes are Soltani dish, jujeh(chicken) kebob, shirazi salad and mastokhyar(toughest with cucumbers). Ask for their fresh bread which baked onsite.

I wanted to try the Persian neighborhoods food and was a little disappointing. Not as many flavors as expected. Just OK

As a Turkish person I did enjoy the quality of food, friendly service very much. Food is served more than enough. The price was very inexpensive for the quality of the food. It was delicious. I highly recommend to everyone who likes Persian food.

As I had tried every persian Resturant in town, there is nothing better than Flame. I've had good moments here when service and quality puts them aside from other restaurants.

We ordered common persian dish (Kabob). Staff were friendly. The area was clean with a good atmosphere. Portion of dish was huge. The quality of food is average like any other restaurants in the area.

The food is very delicious. The prices are ok. they give a large a mount in every plate. the service id very good. You should call for reservation if its for dinner, sometime they are very busy.

I went there with my family on a recent trip to LA. Had never been there. I had the koobideh, and my mom had the soltani. My father, who is a kabob snob, asked the waitress if the lamb chops were very lamby. The waitress said that it was lamby but that he should definitely risk it because they are so worth it and truly delicious. She said that if he didn't like them, she would replace his meal with whatever he wanted at the restaurant's expense. Turned out that my dad was absolutely impressed, and my mom and I were also thrilled with our foods. We all shared and wish we had more room to eat another round! The kabobs and lamb were juicy and flavorful! Also, the side salad was delicious, and they didn't skimp on the ingredients, which is rare these days. Their bread was homemade, fresh, and warm. The waitress was very attentive, professional and friendly. I would definitely go there again when I'm in LA.

Very Authentic Persian food, bread oven,( tanoor ) everything you expect in Persian food, especially to see native Persians eating there, not just the tourists, the rice is delicious , so many kinds , the kebabs are great, so are the stews, the baklava dessert was very tasty. So many Persian Restaurants to chose from, this one was quite good.

Four of us had dinner there and were amazed at the variety of Persian foods that was offered. The service was fast and the bread is made freshly there. Their various Kabab dishes were great, and also their stews like Gormesabzi.

Excellent Persian Cuisine, very impressed with the quality and flavor. The service was good, but we arrived during a shift change- even though all our food came out perfectly and promptly it took quite some time to get our waters refilled.

I felt the food was good for the price charged on the Lunch special! We were a large party and the staff was very attentive. I believe everyone was quite satisfied.

My wife and I came from Chicago to Los Angeles just to eat Persian food and were very disappointed with this place. I ordered gheymeh bademjan which was basically boiled eggplant with lemon juice. My wife ordered ghormeh sabzi which was boiled herbs with uncooked meat and was very bitter, even the rice was bad. My wife is not Persian and overall a bad cook, but even her Persian cooking is better than this place. We were sick for hours. I can’t imagine in a neighborhood full of Persians this place is actually in business

Busy street, not easy to park close by. Not bad looking place, well turned out waiting staff. Menu is ok for this type of food. Unfortunately the results were just not fabulous. The chicken tasted like yesterday’s reheat, the lamb clung stubbornly to the bone and we ended up asking for a refund. The hummus was good but truthfully the whole meal was not inspiring.

Found mold on the food at this place. Unpleasant manager, rude waiters but funny Mexican guy speaking Farsi. Bottom line: Won't come back!

The Persian food was amazing, and absolutely worth the cost. We had a blast there, eating, drinking hot tea, and smoking hookah on a cold evening. I'd highly recommend it for a night out with friends. It's filled with young people. There's heaters outside but it's a little dim from what I could tell. The lighting is great for eating and hanging out.

Except of viewing the Persian style of Westwood Blvd, you can enjoy some traditional Persian food in here. I recommend Tahchin and also Soltani Kabob as on of the best foods of them. They serve very delicious bread as appetizer at first. Great environment, very courteous staff

This is a nice somewhat fancy restaurant. They make their own bread, and it comes with onions and butter. I could get filled up just from that. The meat was tender and the portions were quite big, especially the rice!

I would say the bread is the best thing there is at Flame...Staff was pleasant but rushed and disorganized.Food way below expectation, would not go back...

The restaurant has a nice ambiance. The wait staff is attentive. I ordered Chelo Kebab (Koobideh). The food is really tasty and delicious. Too bad I can't finish them all because the serving of the food is really huge.

We were near Westwood and we were dressed up for an event we'd been to, so I wanted a little nicer than usual restaurant. We planned on going to the Italian restaurant nearby but it had a long line. On entering Flame Persian, the host was dressed in a suit, which boded well as my husband was in a suit. One of the customers advised the food was very good, and the tripadvisor review was good as well, so we asked for a seat. Unfortunately the seats at 3 different tables hadn't been brushed off, and since we were in nice clothes, I didn't want to sit on the left over meal from the party before us! I finally brushed off the seats myself and we sat down. We were brought flat bread, which was crispier than I'd had in the past, and it didn't have a lot of flavor, but it was warm and they brought butter. We ordered a salad to split, and it was large enough for the 4 of us to get a salad size plate of salad. The salad had beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, and mixed greens. Three of us ordered the Cornish Game Hen kebabs, which though tasty, were too skimpy for my husband. There was an overabundance of rice, so we did bring home some left overs. My daughter had a mixed rice dish, with chicken, and again there was an abundance of rice, and not a lot of meat. The price was average given we had so much rice and just a small portion of meat. Next time I will make sure my husband figures out which is the meatiest dish, and that way he isn't still hungry.

Very dry rice and chicken, Tahchin tasted like re-heated and old, the price on the bill much higher than the prices posted on the entrance door, dirty outdated restrooms, and the most disappointing was the unfriendly staff.

My family goes to Sholeh every Saturday for lunch and it has become a tradition I look forward to more than anything. Hector and Amir truly make us feel like we’re royalty whenever we eat there. The food is delicious, the service is unmatched, and we always have leftovers to enjoy for days. Couldn’t say enough about this place!!!

A visit to the 1st site listed on Westwood Blvd and the newest site on Santa Monica were wonderful because of the variety of choices that reflect outstanding Persian cusine. The tenderness of the chicken dishes, the flavor of the spices in the lamb, and beef choices make me return to this restaurant whenever I,m on the westside near UCLA. In addition the lunch time price is a bargin for such quality food. The atmosphere is great and the changing views on the video screen are relaxing and beautiful. The service is wonderful and very personable and I feel welcome every time I dine there. I feel it is the best Persian restaurant in LA> Enjoy !LaLynne

One of the best Persian Resturant I had kobide and my friend had Khorme sabzi it was excellent also very nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Best Cherry Rice! Make sure to order the Cherry rice with any dish! Also the hummus, bread and eggplant appetizers are great.

The barg is good, the location is convenient on Westwood. Service was great. The Tahdig was not that good. The Ghorma sabzi was mediocre at best, and for the price $23 the Soltani was average. For the price and location I expected better.

Great food and service. First the table bread was very good – nice and warm. The Tahchin was excellent and the kebab was melt in your mouth good. The portion size was large. The server was friendly and efficient.

We were actually looking for a different Persian restaurant that we found was closed for remodeling. So we tried Flame. Very satisfied. Although the wait staff did not completely understand what gluten free meant, the discussion yielded good result and I had a safe meal that was very good. When eating Persian food, I often stick with the kabobs and rice. One of us was vegan and found plenty to eat. I always ask what is in the recipe down to the seasoning just to make certain I won't regret the meal. We had plenty of left overs with a moderate bill for three of us at $55 with tip.

My persian coworker took me to Flame while we were in LA on a business trip. She did all the ordering - I wanted to try anything she thought would be good. The fresh bread is fantastic, and we used it eat an eggplant "dip" type appetizer. It was good - the texture a bit odd and the taste of cooked mint is not my favorite. For entrees, she chose a lamb stew and the filet kabobs. The stew, again, had the cooked mint taste. The kabobs were delicious, but fairly plain served with rice. They gave us the rice cooked to golden brown from the bottom of the pot....my friend said it's considered the best. With some sauve from the stew it was ok...but so crunchy it was hard to eat alone. The decor in the dining room is elegant and neat, but I used the ladies room....and the whole experience became marred. It was right beside the kitchen entrance and smelled like sewage beyound anything I have ever experienced in a dining establishment. It ruined what would have been a nice experience.

I've taken my family here a few times while visiting from out of town. The chelo kebab is solid and the salads and strews are good as well. They are good about refilling the tea and they are always nice about us bringing in a toddler.

I ordered rack of lamb - the meat was cooked well but the grilled onions and tomato were almost orphans - dry and weak. The pilaf was plentiful - enough to feed 3 or 4! The dried fruits and food colouring made it look interesting but the taste was absent. Others ordered Salmon and Whitefish - and again the same criticism - the fish was OK but the accompaniments weak.

One of the best Persian food , delicious, good service, very clean, we order whit fish and Chiken barbecue vas very good .

It s a place with tasty food; it s a pity how slow and careless the serveurs are: as soon as they placed my request on the table, nobody appeared again to ask if I needed anything else, at least the check! Only the guys in charge of cleaning and arranging the tables were around customers, but they have differents tasks, that s why there are waiters ......I had great expectations, but there s alwaus another choice two blocks away ATARI....

Flame is a great place. We went for lunch and we had the raviloi and one dish of ethnic Persian food, Loobia Polo, which is green beans and basmati rice with carrots and chunks of sirloin. The owner came to our twice and even treated us to Persian desert tasting of Bamia, a sweet cake dipped in honey, and tea, chai. The service was impeccable. The food was great. The restaurant is very upsacle in appearance and roomy with two flat screen tvs. The owner told us that on weekends they have live muisic.

Excellent Persian food ! We started with mezze : mast - o - Hier which Is yogurt with dill and chopped cucumber 🥒 And fresh pita bread . Also we ordered a pitcher of yogurt drink Doogh , watered down yogurt with dill and chopped mint . With ice . Helps digestion I think . For the main course we had chicken with different kinds of rice / I had chicken with zeresh pollo : orange rice with barberries / small berries similar to cranberries. And a roasted Tomato on each plate . My husband had lamb kebab with cherry rice . My girlfriend had the same as me and her date had lamb shank with rice also. Chai was served at the end / Persian Tea Not the same as Indian Tea / tea with cardamom flavours.

The food was great and the service even better. This was our third visit to this restaurant and it was great. The starters were amazing, specially the eggplant dish, yogurt with cucumber. The burnt rice was too hard to chew on, but it was tasty. The prices are reasonable and if you are a lamb lover, then you won't be disappointed. if like chicken make sure to order the bone-in chicken it is tastier than the boneless. My wife had the white fish and green rice which was also very tasty. Heavy food so either go hungry or share the meals... Enjoy.

It's the best Santa Monica has to offer. We went to SM as a transit city and stayed at IHG. Flame was walking distant from where we stayed. The exterior is impressive and we wanted to try something different. OMG!! It's worth the try. Awesome! Great! Food!!

I went there and I ordered Youghut with cucumber, it was very delicious! for main dish, Ii I Kubidah Chelo kebab . I was very good! staff are friendly & serve you very fast!

I used to go to Flame Persian Cuisine I the last 2-3 year the food was excellent , but for some reason the food the quality of the food is getting worse and worse each time I go to this place , there are many Persian restaurant in greater Los Angeles area and in the Valley serving much better food than this place , FYI Flame has a new location in Santa Monica Blvd with live music and drinks the food is much better than the Westwood location

I'm from San Diego and I drive all the way to Los Angeles to visit my relatives during summer. I make sure that I don't leave LA without visiting my favorite restaurant, Flame. I was there on Labor Day... the food was FABULOUS, the service was AWESOME and the price is TOTALLY FAIR. I highly recommend this place.

Having travelled from Sydney, Australia for a Persian wedding in OC, I was very impressed that our group of 14 was accommodated at short notice in a Saturday night. I should preface this by stating that the Flame is very popular with the Persian community and that our group is Persian. The chelo kebab was excellent, as was the starters of ghormeh sabzi, ghemeh, tuition bread (cooked on premises) and dooghk (yoghurt drink, not too sour or salty) and mast khiar. Tahdig could be a little more thick and salty, just like my mother in law's! Salmon fillet with salad is excellent if you rush to bypass the rice which is irresistible. If you are travelling from Australia, you may find this better than anything on offer in Sydney. NB decor is average, but seriously no one really looks at that! Cosy in winter.

Don’t be put off by the neighborhood or the outside of the restaurant. This is a very good, authentic Persian restaurant with some unusual dishes. Also, the waitstaff are very kind and helpful (I think our server was Amir—he was lovely). If in Santa Monica/LA again, I would go back. My only critique would be to serve less rice and add vegetables to the kabob dishes. (The kabobs were huge and delicious).

Excellent flavor and value. Huge portions. Try the eggplant and lamb shank stew; it's served with saffron rice. Enough for two. Plenty of fresh flat bread. Leave room for "traditional" ice cream flavored with saffron, rosewater and pistachios.Friendly and attentive waitstaff. A memorable meal that's easy on the budget!

Great kabobs, nice service, really liked the fresh made bread. Generous portions. Hope to try the desert next time I’m there

One of the best barbecue restaurant with night entertainment Wednesday to Saturday Very clean and elegant with friendly staff And nice environment Thursday lunch buffet with barbecue soup salad and khoresht We enjoy it very much

The bread was delicious. Tahdig was impossible to chew. Service was great. We had a great time, regardless.

Plentiful food especially for meat lovers. We ordered a range of dishes to share. Tons of food. No liquor license. BYOB. Buzzy and energetic atmosphere. Worth the trip.

Cozy Persian restaurant with normal setup and decoration. We have ordered kebabs and Shabzi rice and another type of rice, shabzi murqe, some starters but all the taste is not as should be, unfortunately i never expected that & was disappointed. Not recommended

Good food and friendly service. The food was delicious and staff friendly and had good recommendations. Highly recommended!

We were taken to this restaurant by people well-versed in Persian food. The place was busy with a fine range of aromas coming from the kitchen. It isn't cheap, but there are dishes with rice and cous cous that you would not normally eat The portions were huge, even though we shared one or two. Service was very attentive.
Great Persian Food in great location
I'll make this simple, it was just a great Persian dinner and everything was on point. Decor is nice and tables were comfortable and roomy enough. I went when it was "dead" - just before 5 PM on a Thursday as my body was still on east coast time, but it is not a cramped place or a small place. It's not huge but it's big. What I loved is that the bread is made fresh and the oven is in the corner of the dining room in its own section so you can watch them make the bread, plus it's fresh when you get it. Excellent touch to a beautifully, albeit conservatively, decorated place. Very nice and comfortable ambiance, not too formal but not too casual feeling either. Food was on point - excellent kebabs, I had the beef and chicken koobideh combo. Their hummus was excellent. The rice I got was sabzi polo and was absolutely perfect. Kebabs came with traditional grilled tomato which was of course great. Service was very attentive and friendly (probably helped that there were only a few other customers). The location in Westwood is nice - it was nice to go out and walk around the neighborhood after the meal and window-shop and explore a little. I loved it and would go back - it's not necessarily the best Persian restaurant I've been to but it's up there. I'd recommend it to anyone.
