Pricey but delicious

By SLYCAST |

We had a quick meal here. We sat in the bar area so one of the bartenders waited on us. There were few people in the restaurant and the vibe wasn't as high energy as I had hoped. Still the food was good but perhaps not as good as some of the other high-end steakhouses.

Steak That Melts In Your Mouth

By Terri E |

I visited this restuarant with my Keller Williams Realty co-workers from Ashburn, Virginia and we had a great business dinner at Fleming's. The service was remarkable and the food was excellent. There was 21 of us realtor's and the service was remarkable. We had a variety of appetizers and they were all great and not to mention my steak melted in my mouth. A great place to take business associates or that special person in your life for a special occassion.

No value here...

By texbambam |

Tiny steak, burnt to a crisp on the outside. (I ordered MED RARE) Burnt veggies too...really disappointing for what they charge you would think it would be a little better than that...but alas...not so. Eat somewhere else...real disappointment.

Excellent as usual

By johoallen |

We celebrated a business success and Valentine's Day early and were not disappointed. Hubby had the steak and lobster special and I had a filet. All were excellent. The baked potato was huge but very flavorful. Hubby's meal came with a dessert but the waiter misspoke and said it was a cheesecake with raspberry sauce instead of the bread pudding (which we never eat). He made it good, bringing the cheesecake and apologies. Our usual go to steakhouse is Ruth's Chris, but after eating again at Fleming's with attentive service (despite 200 reservations that Saturday night), I think we will ditch Ruth's. This was my shrimp cocktail.

Dinner with colleagues

By Robert S |

Had a great time at Fleming's with colleagues in trendy downtown Austin. The wine, food, service and location were excellent.

Excellent cocktails, Food, wine AND Serice

By Frank C |

For some reason the Austin newspapers avoid reviewing chain restaurants thus diners are deprived information on some the best in town such as North, Taverna, Perry's and Flemings. For steaks we believe Flemings is number one and dinner there on the evening of May 25 did not disappoint. The martini cocktails were excellent as was the calamari appetizer. My wife is somewhat of an expert on calamari and she says Flemings has the best.. The steaks, New York Strip for her and Rib Eye for me were first class as was the sautéed spinach. Given that I had a double martini I opted for ice tea while my wife enjoyed a delicious glass of Oberon Cabernet. One last comment - the service in Flemings is outstanding, quick to please, attentive and friendly.

Wonderful service and quality food!

By Ashley S |

The steaks we're the best we ever had and so much delicious food! The staff and service were very attentive and helpful !they even helped with a gluten free option. We highly recommend this place if you want a good quality steak!

Dinner for 10, great food, great service, great wine and wine list

By 5Starr4Me |

Reservation for 10 to celebrate dads weekend with 5 sorority girls and 5 dads. Special night made very special by Fleming's Gm, staff and the food and drink. We had the best steaks, salads and sides. Very consistently Flemings. Very extensive wine list with reasonable to very expensive. Was helped to find the perfect Pinot. Very nice room, not loud, you could hold a conversation. Waitstaff was on que the whole dinner.

Never disappoints!

By Lilligar |

One of our favorite restaurants in Austin! We have been here many times and not one time have we had bad service or bad food. My steak is always cook to my specifications and seared to perfection! The truffle oil mash potatoes is to die for. When making reservations, we asked for a round table that could sit 8 people. We were informed they didn't have a round table to acomodare 8. When we arrived we were surprised. They arranged a square table for 8. We were all able to see each other and most importantly talk and visit with each other. This level of customer service and great food keep us coming back time after time. Big kuddos to our waiter Lee.

Very Dissapointing

By Beachy19 |

Had lunch on way out of town, service was slow and waiter disappeared for very long stretches, possibly inadequate staffing? My lobster roll was flavorless and the fries were burnt. If I weren't so pressed for time, would have sent back. I ate only the lobster meat, fries weren't edible. When the waiter took my plate, he asked if I were finished enjoying my meal? Are you kidding me? Have been to Fleming's in Coral Gables FL which was much better, but that was dinner.

Classic steakhouse

By Anne C |

Excellent service and delicious food in a classic steakhouse…Bryndan was an exceptional waiter who was the perfect balance of professional attentiveness and easy conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

Fantastic

By Kevin T |

This was a great recommendation from our hotel, a real long standing winner. The server knew his wines, knew his menu and trusted his chef! The wine list is vast, with a lot of variety- and a server that knows his product! The steak was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended

Wine and Steak-yes!

Delicious food and excellent service! Celebrated out anniversary and go a card and chocolate truffles.

First Class Dining in the Heart of Austin

By Traveler1948_10 |

Warm and classy decor set the done for a good meal. Ipad wine list was fun to explore. Nice service and excellent food. A little pricey for what you received. A little disappointed the first wine ordered was not available. With the technology they have I hope they can update their electronic list to reflect current offerings. Overall very nice

Above average

By DocCP |

What can I say...It’s like any other Fleming’s Steak House. Service here was a bit unimpressive. I ordered my steak blackened, and it was great.

Good as usual

By Jon E |

Went here with a coworker for an early drink and dinner. Everything was good: drinks, salads (Fleming's and Wedge) and service. The little downer were the steaks actually. I ordered a Main Filet medium and it was well under medium. The wagyu ordered medium came out well past medium. Oh well, can't nail it every time, but just can't get up to Excellent this time.

Wine and prime filet, no better combo!

By astrojane |

Split a bottle of wine, a filet (ordered medium, it arrived quite rare). I like rare, hubby likes medium, so I was happy, and he asked for a little more fire on his,and we were both very happy. Potato was split, asparagus was split. Great service from JD, with manager checking in on us once the half filet came back. :-) No complaints, outside there was an upright bass, and we loved hearing that deep sound. We love the Fleming's near home in Pasadena CA, and now we've added a second one to our roster. Consistent elegance!

A delicious way to enjoy Austin's finest beef!

By FoodieMan2013 |

Quickly got a seat via online booking direct on their website. The service is absolutely amazing, and the restaurant I visited was located at or near 'The Domain' shopping area. Simon was our server and he turned what was meant to be a great evening of dining into something better, by being entertaining and really giving us a better time. We ordered LOTS of food here, appetizers included a salad and some crab cakes (amazing!) some onion rings which were HUGE and some green beans and their famous homemade Fleming's potatoes (must try!) I had ordered the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly at medium rare. There's also a very impressive wine/beer list to choose from so you are sure to find the right drink for the right meal no matter what your preferences are! Definitely recommend this restaurant if you love beef or simply enjoy having a great dining experience, all of which can only be made possible thanks to Simon.

Great Steak, Great Lobster Tail, Great Time!

By Jeff D |

Attentive waitstaff treated us very well. Our food was cooked as ordered and the steak was very, very good. We had steak and lobster and the lobster tail was not overcooked, as so often is the case at restaurants. All of the sides were well above average as well.

Nice dining experience

By mbd_mj |

We went with the family of 10 people, no young children. It was a bit tedious at first getting the reservation understood, but after a bit, all was well. Server was casting a dubious look until I told him not to worry, we would make sure to take care of him. After that, things went superb. Drinks on time, food prepared correctly as desired, the proper amount of checking on us and staying away from us... a delicate dance he performed with aplomb. The value for the meal is perhaps a bit lacking, but the overall experience was a happy one.

5 Star dining experience

By GrahamTrucks |

Ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, one of my classic fish entrees. Cooked to perfection, crisp on the outside and served on a bed of spinach. Those with me had steak, and they looked perfect. Excellent service, and I think I have to say that this was aesthetically the most awesome place I think I have ever been to in Austin. Very majestic table.....over sized chairs, you will feel like a king. There isn't anything to complain about, it was an expensive meal but you get what you pay for. And with Flemings, I believe they deliver all the way.

Good but expensive

By Max P |

It's a pretty standard up market American steakhouse. Service is good and friendly as you would expect and the food was fine if unremarkable. It is though eye wateringly expensive. A steak, a side, and 2 glasses of wine each came to $190 with tip. That's too much for a standard steak dinner

great steakhouse

By markcohen2017 |

one of the best prime steakhouses . Prime Rib on Sundays is special. Happy hour in bar is great deal. Very good martinis

WOW

By Carol R |

This is my favorite restaurant to visit when I am in Austin. From the minute you walk in the door you know that this is going to be a great experience. The staff is very professional and quick to make your experience wonderful. The Chef and crew put out an exceptional meal the food is mouth watering delicious. What a team!

It was a good place, but it's changed for the worse

By Philip G |

It WAS a great place to have a great night out, but the quality and service has become subpar and living on it's name and location at this point. We decided to come to Fleming's to celebrate both myself and father's birthday, and we have had great experiences in the past. In all honesty it was fine.... that is till the food came out. I ordered the NY Strip medium rare, and my wife ordered the Ribeye medium, both of which came out disappointing. Mine came out very medium well and Her’s came out medium rare. Along with that, the ribeye was choice grade steak, at best as it had, without exaggeration, a 3” fat pocket. Basically equivalent to what you could pick up at the local HEB, and nothing representative of what this establishment claims to serve in regards to quality. When the two errors were pointed out to the waitress, she very willingly and nicely worked to make things right. That’s when the night turned for the worse. The GM came to the table to do what I assumed would be the typical apology and we’ll get another one out right away, but instead he took another approach. He began to try and explain the differences in between medium and medium rare, and did she know what she was ordering. Basically, putting it on her ignorance that she wasn’t aware of what she was ordering in an extremely condescending way. Then, when my steak came out, it was again medium at best, in which the GM brushed it off with a , sir we cook it to a perfect 135* and walked off never to return. We are all grillers and smokers in the family, and I can tell you with confidence it was medium to medium well at best (outside to pretty much the middle middle of the steak was cooked through with NO pink) …. Again. So, like with anything, an establishment is run only as good as the top down, and if this GM is who’s in charge and setting the tone, I’d be willing to bet they are losing more loyal customers than gaining with the pompous attitude shown. There’s way too many establishments that have considerably better customer service and quality food (Perry’s and Paul Martin’s to be specific) within walking distance for us to go back. Sad really as we did enjoy it, but most likely this will be the last time.

Average Steak

By Don R |

I had the filet and would probably rate it as average. The scalloped potatoes were absolutely fantastic and the wedge salad was excellent. We had a large group and I thought the service was good.

Underwhelmed at best.

By cstroupe1015 |

Dined here for business based on the Fleming’s reputation. We were very disappointed. Hostess was great! Server was friendly but fell short. Failed to suggest several things such as sides and condiments. Filet was very bland. Server disappeared once food was delivered. Went to kitchen myself to ask for Béarnaise sauce to help the boring taste of the filet. The kitchen had poured out the Béarnaise for the night so they brought me Béarnaise butter to try instead. Yuck. They apologized for not having it and offered me free dessert which was already included in our Surf and Turf meal. They were shutting down the place and we were the last customers there. We waited and waited for the server and finally asked for our included dessert to go so they didn’t have to wait for us to leave. So disappointed.

Fine Dining

By Carolyn P |

Wonderful Happy Hour with snacks and hamburger at a great price. Wonderful deal on Sunday and Monday night on a 3 course meal of prime rib.

Downtown Dining

By Allen P |

While the restaurant is starting to look a bit dated, the food was very solid. Classic steak house fare, but they also had a great salmon offering. Service could have been a touch better, but the close location to the convention center make this a solid choice.

Best fine dining steakhouse

By remommy |

Fleming’s (in any city) never disappoints! It is our favorite fine dining steakhouse and this downtown Austin location is exactly what we expect — top rate customer service, excellent food and very enjoyable ambience.

Hard to Beat!

By kackylynn |

We go to Fleming's in just about every city we go to and what I like about it is it is consistent. Every town it is the same- which is a good thing. They have the recipes down and they don't change them everytime you go in as some places do- it is an excellent steak and wonderful side options. I personally get the bar filet which comes with the incredible potatoes but I also can't eat a super huge steak and this size is perfect for me. They have a wonderful wine selection that is very reasonable (which is not common in a steak house- you pay normally 3-4x what you'd pay in the store for the same bottle and here it is not that way). Been going here for years just never sat down to review it. One of the best in town if not THE best in my opinion.

Very average food, high priced and not worth it

By GeeJAre |

Had a very average dinner here. I ordered the aged rib-eye steak and wife had the Chilean sea bass. Both dishes were just ok; nothing more. Like other steak houses, everything here is ala-carte so on top of $50 + for an entre’, they make you shell out an additional $12 for a side vegetable. Waiter claimed the vegetable was “served family style” however the 6 stalks of asparagus we got were barely enough for one! I find when high end restaurants do this, it’s incredibly offensive and just a tactic to drive up the bill (similar to hotels that continue to charge guests for WiFi...they do it because they can get away with it but it pisses people off!). With plenty of other, better options in Austin, I’d recommend saving your money and trying someplace else.

Good but expected better

By Robert P |

I was invited to attend dinner with a large private party in one of the side rooms. The food was good but from everything I had heard about Fleming's prior to this event I expected a better tasting filet. It was disappointing to me and could give it a mid range rating but to be fair, considering what I had heard about Flemings they may have just had an off night. The appetizers were great and the service was exceptional.

Great steaks, excellent wine list, very enjoyable.

By RonL40 |

If you are looking for a higher end place to eat where you can be comfortable, you won't be wrong here. It's typical Texas -- folks in suits, folks in jeans, everyone enjoying themselves. We did, too. Food was great. Very nice wine list. We'd like to back there tonight! Easy to recommend.

Delicious!!!

By Chris R |

Since I'm in Texas, I'm trying to satisfy my steak urges! Flemings was recommended. This is definitely a pricier location, so I was expecting a lot from it. I was not disappointed. I ordered the small filet w/bearnaise, medium, and a side of mashed potatoes with all 3 different flavors on the side (Blue cheese butter, garlicy spread, and peppercorn butter). The pre-dinner bread was delicious. I don't know what the spreads were for that, but I wanted more more and more! As I ate, I could only hope the rest of the food was as good. The steak came out, perfectly cooked, and tasted divine. Add the bearnaise, and it was even better! Juicy, flavorful, really a cut above the rest. The mashed potatoes were great too. HAd to split them up to try the 3 flavors, and in the end I couldn't tell what I liked more! The service was great, the chef even came out to check on how I liked the food. That was awesome!

ANOTHER GREAT VISIT

By Daryl H |

We had dinner this past Sunday night at this downtown Austin location of the upscale national steakhouse chain. Have been here several times over the years and it is always a memorable dining experience. Excellent staff and service. Great cocktails and shrimp cocktail before dinner. Very good wine selections as well. Several of our party had their signature wedge salad and it was refreshing. Prime Rib, filet mignon and salmon entrees were all delicious. Nice side dishes that are generous enough to share at the table. Good selection of tasty desserts to end your meal. Very attractive upscale decor. Valet parking available. Highly recommended.

Wonderful steak!

By LuisDubon |

Texas sized steaks. Service was excellent. Good wine list and the sides are very good. Don't miss the bread! Definitely a great steak house.

GO HERE

By heybrula |

Delicious Food. Have been here several times and never been disappointed. Bryan, the manager, is wonderful, very accomadating, will often check to see if you are satisfied. Appetizers are wonderful, good choices. Huge shrimp cocktail. Prime dry aged Ribeye is absolutely delicious, one of the best steaks I have ever had. Filet Mignon, equally good, My wife loves the sliced Filet Mignon with shitake risotto, chili oil, porcini butter drizzle Don't miss this place. Decor is great.

Night of Appetizer

By SRL1975 |

We were outside reading the menu when out came the manager and visited with us. So friendly, we decided to go in for a glass of wine and share an appetizer. Delicious! Will return for dinner soon!

Steaks to die for

By konikowski |

This place is just awsome service 5 stars food 5 stars. You get what you pay for at this place for sure. Great food

Great Bar Tender

By Ken J |

Alante Winters was awesome! He was very attentive and professional. The food was great, we had a great time. Whenever we eat here, Alante always takes great care of us. Thank you!

Excellent Dinner

By Mssnash |

I was there with a group of people, and had a wonderful time. The seafood tower is FANTASTIC!!!! Huge shrimp, plenty of lobster and crab legs. The calamari (recommended by the waiter) was very underwhelming. I had a filet with the lump crab and Bearnaise sauce. Very generous lumps of crab and the filet was wonderful. The waiter oversold the Brussels sprouts, we probably had 2 extra bowls of it that nobody ate. The bone in rib eyes looked amazing. No room for dessert after that meal!

Delicious.

By Pavel S |

This was the best restaurant where i have ever been. Steak and wine was sooo delicious. Also environment was awesome.

A MUST---GO TO THIS STEAKHOUSE

By heybrula |

We were absolutely delighted on this, our first, visit to Fleming"s in Austin. We were treated like Royalty which we are not. From our Hosts Rudi and Christa, to our waiter JD, and the Operating Manager Bryan Ross, we felt most welcome. The service was outstanding. The Bone In Rib Eye was the best I have eaten is Austin, outdoing the other steakhouse such as Capital Grille, Eddie V's and Ruth's Chris. My wife loved the Sliced Filet with Mushroom Risotto and Chili Oil. This is WOW dish. The Fleming's Potato Dish was delicious. We are definitely going back again.

O M G Fantastic!

By Robert S |

The food was flawesome!! The service was exquisite! The ambiance was perfect. The portions were perfect. (6 oz filet <steak> was just right) and the Martinis were off the hook. I cannot wait to return. Def on of the best nights out in a while!

Great Steaks

By Susan D |

Great service and food. Highly recommend the surf & turf. Friendly staff. We had peach salad and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Both were great also.

Disappointed in the $40 Filet Mignon

By Frank D |

I took my wife here for Valentine's Day lunch. We were both looking forward to it and yet we came away a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance was nice, the service was very good, the sides and sauces and dessert were all excellent....but both our $40 Filet Mignons were tough. Sorry, but you should NEVER get a tough Filet @ $40 each.

Get the dry age steaks

By Matthew L |

Excellent meal last night. I had the 21 dry aged NY stripe cooked medium. It was simply wonderful. Also get jt wedge salad, very tasty. My only disappoinent was my side Of mushroom.. They were not very good. Overall great food and wine!

Wife's Birthday

By MRod7381 |

Took my wife and son to have dinner for her birthday. The service was great! The food was just as great! We had steaks and some seafood.

Great lunch

By Mac_G5 |

Had a business lunch there. Our server was fantastic and made my business lunch that much more of a success. Food was very good.. Much better than I expected and commensurate with the price. I'd recommend this place.

Good dinner but too long waiting time

By CCItaly |

We had dinner with quite big group (with reservation). We arrive 19:30, we've been served at 21:10. The restaurant was not full. No complain about the food quality, which was fair and good although not worth for the money we spent (personal opinion), but the waiting time was not acceptable at all. Maybe it was a coincidence but I don't feel in the position to recommend.

Surprise for Mother's Day - Great!

By Mimi S |

The best dinner experience we had ever had was at this Flemings many years ago so Hubby took me again for Mother's Day since we were in town. He had made reservations unbeknownst to me and they greeted us by name when we arrived. Junior was our server and was helpful, friendly, and efficient. Suggestion was made about the Prime Rib Special on Sunday only and what a good one! The prime rib was done perfectly and came with a side, a salad and a dessert. They even offered to split the salad for us. Just couldn't have asked for a better situation. What a happy Mother's Day and what a lovely place to celebrate it! It's not the cheapest place in town but you definitely get what you pay for.

Perfect Nightcap

By Gidge01 |

Flemings never disappoints. A few coworkers and I stopped in after working a show to catch up on the event. Our bartender was so wonderful! Perfect and relaxing atmosphere with a great wine selection.

Very Pleased

By NicoleVee |

We went to Fleming's while in Austin for a business trip. The wait staff was wonderful and knowledgeable about Celiac Disease which was great! We tried something new and got the pork belly and grits appetizer and even those who thought they wouldn't like it, loved it. Our main course was great, no one was disappointed. The only suggestion I have, would be not to sit by the sidewalk if you are trying to have a business meeting or an intimate dinner as there were plenty of people upholding the "Keep Austin Weird" vibe that stopped and interrupted our dinner with random singing or talking. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again!

Amazing dinner experience

By deflep71 |

Absolutely the most amazing dinner experience I’ve had in a long time. The staff is on top of everything and made the experience that much better. The cocktails were exquisite. The steaks and sides were cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Flemings steak house for an amazing meal and unforgettable dinning experience.

very very terrible food

By xue r |

i was attracted by its web. but, but, but finally find out you could never taste more salty food!!! one word for this restaurant, salty! unhealty salty, it is terrible bad food. steak is very tough. the daily soup taste like herb medicine soup. nothing good except the complimentary appetizer break. poor me just eat break for dinner. by the way the price is expensive!

great choice of steaks

By 1redtraveler1 |

Firstly, the menu is very good, a great choice of different cuts, plus a decent range of other dishes. The steaks were great, our party had dry aged NY strip, fillet mignon and ribeye all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Wine choice was very good as well, although a little expensive. Service good too, attentive without being overpowering.

E card terriable gift

By david Parr |

Bought a gift E-card today for my niece's birthday $200.00 . she went tonight and when she presented the ecard info they would not accept it .she had the receipt and even proof of some 40 dollar bonus. She called me crying and i ended up giving my credit again just to get her out of there. Needless to say, i ruined her birthday and feel really bad. DO NOT BUY THE GIFT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. i am straddled with 435.00 on my credit card. Do not buy

Jeeez - its not cheap!

By RoamingRuss |

Well known for it good food - mostly seafood and steaks, I personally was impressed by the winelist. Some very decent wines show that someone has thought about which wines will go with which dishes. The prices are more than you would expect to pay and we couldn't work out whether this was intentional to maintain that 'high end' image or we were simply being ripped off. The staff were exceptional, the food was very good and the atmosphere was fitting. No complaints - just need to save up before I would go back again.

Excellent quality as usual: Lunch and Dinner over my 4 days in Austin.

By VanessaKUSA |

Ate here last year during SXSWedu and returned for an encore. Excellent as before. They now serve lunch which they did not last year so it was a welcome treat. Had the lunch filet mignon which came with a salad and dessert. A bit pricey for lunch but they had many other choices. Returned with a colleague who had dinner here with me last year and insisted we go again during the happy hour. Outstanding! Great meals and blueberry lemon drop martinis. We sent photos of our food to those who chose not to join us. Outstanding and I look forward to next year. I should also mention that the service was also very, very good. Hostess and wait staff were very accommodating and I believe one of the software companies took over this place for the rest of SXSW so we were lucky to get in meals twice during our visit.

A solid meal

By LegalmomHouston |

I enjoyed a business dinner at Fleming's. The service was not remarkable but the food was good. I was with a large group, which might have had an impact on both the quality of the service and food but the restaurant should be able to maintain its standards no matter the size of the table. That said, I would eat here again.

Nothing really stands out

By Michael J |

If you've been to one overpriced steakhouse, you've been to them all. If you are looking for a big steak in a classic white tablecloth setting, Flemming's is the place. Unfortunately, there's nothing that really stands out to make Flemming's the choice over Truluck's or Morton's or III Forks, etc. Good steaks. Good wine list. Good service. High prices. Just a little disappointing as an experience.

Overpriced Bland food & So So Service

By Marty M |

Title says it all, There are way better choices, Flemings used to be a high quality servive and fantastic food. They have lost their touch.

Average

By Keeley J |

To be honest, I wasn't really hungry when we went- So I wanted a small steak but the only thing they had was a 6 oz filet minion. I ordered it and was pretty disappointed in it. I only ate a couple bites and my husband finished it. Now the complimentary bread and spreads was delicious, as was the Fleming's potatoes. But for the price, I was disappointed. It cost us $100 for the both of us, just for dinner. Will not go back.

A wonderful anniversary dinner...

By Itinerant_scholar |

Madame and I were looking for a special place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and Fleming's more than filled the bill. It was a quiet Sunday evening and, with no conventioneers in evidence (the restaurant is next to the Austin Convention Center), the atmosphere was quiet and sophisticated. The overall experience was great -- none of the beef-wrapped-in-plastic food porn we've seen at Morton's, and (that night at least) none of the testosterone-driven bellowing of tables full of back-office spreadsheet jockeys pretending to be tycoons. Just excellent cooking, relaxed and friendly service from a well-informed staff, and a real sense that it matters to Fleming's that we have a fine dinner. And we did: a bone-in rib steak for Madame, Chilean sea bass on my side of the table, a hasselback baked potato and asparagus to share, and a good sauvignon blanc. The wine offerings are extensive, and you can choose from a tablet screen or order from a printed list; while the high end of the wine list is indeed high, there were some quite nicely-priced mid-range options too. We thoroughly enjoyed it all, and don't plan to wait another forty years to return! Reservations are advised; valet parking is available and, in that downtown neighborhood where on-street options are scarce, strongly advised as well.

Everybody was happy

By James M |

Had a works team meal here last year. The style of the place is sort of 1920s Paris .. It has subdued lighting and is pleasant to sit in. The waiters are good. The menu has lots to choose from, probably less would make it an easier choice. Portions are huge.. I can recommend the lobster. Only gripe was slightly slow service. Steaks were gigantic and all my colleagues were pleased

What a steakhouse should be.

By aggietraveler1976 |

We went in chasing coffee and dessert. When we looked over the menu we decided we were hungry again. the atmosphere is very Steakhouse and I like that. the staff is on the spot and knowledgeable. in downtown it is a great place for business meeting or date night.

Average Steaks

By KJRKM |

The food and service were good, but nothing amazing. Service was very good and staff was friendly. The steak was well cooked and tasty, but I’ve had equally good steak at other places.

Quality

By Ross M |

My wife and I frequent Fleming's steakhouse. The consistency is superb. The steaks are always spot on. We have eaten at many steakhouses in Austin and for the price Fleming's is hard to beat. The service is also top notch.

Happy Hour

By MRod7381 |

My wife and I stopped by for appetizers and drinks. The calamari was awesome and the steak on the appetizer was just as good. The two young ladies that were bartending were also awesome with great recommendations! We will definitely be back!

Overpriced, but good, steaks...

By James |

Atmosphere at Flemings is an A+, very nice place for a dinner date. That being said, bring a full wallet, because the prices here are grossly inflated. I treated a group of 5 and dropped $500 without the bottle of wine the waiter kept pushing on us. Appetizers were good, not great. Steaks were good, not great. (although, the lobster mac-n-cheese was worth every penny!) All-in-all, if you're looking for a great date spot, have the dollars, and don't mind spending 'em, Flemings is your spot. Atmosphere: A+ Value: C- Food: A-

Everything Was First-rate

By Susan91 |

Perfect meal. Ordered a gin & tonic, caesar salad, and the chilean sea bass. Everything tasted as it should and was timed perfectly. I asked them to modify how they finished off the sea bass (no pan saute-ing please) and they were happy to comply. They execute well not only on the food but the entire dining experience. I plan to return as often as my budget allows.

One of the best Steaks in Austin!!

By mjhaynes123 |

Fleming's has one of he best mouthwatering steaks in Austin - it is only second to another of my favorite Steak restaurants. The steak, Seafood, sides and desserts are ALL to die for. Great place to have a cozy date night - be sure to order a glass of wine from the bar to have with dinner and another for a after dinner sip - Fleming's is simply one of the best.

Quality, quality, quality!

High-class restaurant only a couple of blocks from my condo. This was my most recent of a dozen or so visits. Ambience is classy. Manager always welcomes you upon arrival and thanks you as you leave. Waiters are real pros — know their menus well and give thoughtful recommendations. Food is ALWAYS perfectly prepared and wonderful tasty. Steaks a specialty — and superb. Lobster succulent. Veggies fresh and just slightly under-cooked. Desserts to die for! Excellent choice for business or couples.

Mixed Feelings About This Chain

By mikel68 |

Went with friends for dinner before a night in the city. Ambiance is okay, a little too dark for most of us. Three in our party couldn't read the menu without a smartphone light shining on it. Good thing too, the prices averaged on Tripadvisor are incorrect. Average cost per person is about $75.00. One rib-eye, one order of "Fleming's potatoes" to split, by the way skip that frozen reheated mess, one wedge salad and one bottle of red wine for four, not including tip. The steaks were okay, mine was a little over done, but I DON'T send food back...it's a thing with me. The flavor of the meat didn't "wow" me as I had hoped. I did taste my wife's filet, it was pretty tasty. If you're into really overpriced steaks, because..."that's what you're all about". This place is for you. I don't mind digging into my kids college fund for a good meal...this just wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Yum!!

By Okiefam7 |

We had dinner here, delicious! The seafood tray was amazing and huge. The steak just melted in your mouth and mouth watering flavors. Oh it's happening now while I'm thinking about it. A place were you are defiantly getting the full experience and the joy of food. I

Dinner

In Austin for a Wedding. Have been to other Flemings in NJ and Arizona. Location is easy to get to and the food and wine were outstanding. Service could be a little tighter.

Marginal steak, great wine

By Paul Y |

Steaks are marginal. I can grill much better steak at home and can get better filet mignon cuts at my grocery store (we do shop at Central Market though). I can't believe anyone would pay these prices for such substandard steak. At least, this was a business dinner and I didn't pay for it out of my own pocket. The one bright spot was the wine. Had some excellent bottles.

Mixed fmeelings

By LBHouston11 |

The steak and service were great---side dishes served lukewarm but the waiter served us a new dish to make up for it. Pretty restaurant but there are others in Austin that are more consistent.

Attention to detail 💯

By 1Mujer |

We were celebration our anniversary and they knocked it out of the park. It started with the hostess wishing us a happy anniversary!! We had a card wishing us a happy anniversary waiting at our table. Curtis was wonderful, I highly recommend sitting in his section. He suggested the filet with a lobster tail deal and it was fantastic. The crispy brussel sprouts were very tasty and didn't at all taste like veggies! 👍 Their key lime pie is also very yummy. The manager kept coming by and asking how everything was. All in all, attention to detail was great!

Quality food, lovely setting, average service

By Ken R |

My wife had given me a dinner here as a Fathers Day gift, which got delayed. My wife had the baked brie appetizer and really loved it. I had the onion soup which was very cheesy, which I love, but not much flavor. We shared a caesar salad which was above average but not great. We both had petite (8 oz) filet and it was very very tasty on its own. We bought the 3 sauces, and got the 3 complimentary sauces, none of which I liked much (and I am a sauce guy) but my wife did, and she usually avoids sauces. But the steak was tasty enough without sauces. I had a mushroom side order, tasty but not extraordinary. The dessert, a chocolate soufflé with molten chocolate interior, with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream and it was delicious. Finally, the service was just adequate. I felt our server was rushing us, perhaps because we were a twosome in a both set for 4. His other tables had 4 and he took far more time with them, explaining the choices, pros and cons, etc. Took my dessert plate away without asking if I was finished, and I had to stop him to leave it for my last few spoonfuls. I tipped him accordingly

Tablets for Interactive Wine & Food Pairings

By anna c |

We eat at Flemings restaurants often, as we travel a lot for business. Last night we ate at their downtown Austin location for a romantic night out. Since the weather was quite warm and humid, neither of us wanted a heavy meal. So we chose the Chilean Sea Bass, paired with a bottle of white wine. What makes the wine pairing experience a breeze is their use of Tablets for the wine menu, which has a cool food and wine pairing interactive. Pick a food -- appetizer, entree, dessert, etc and then you're given a few wine options. We appreciated this last night, as we are normally red wine drinkers and didn't recognize many of the white wines listed. It was a success. Great meal!

Very good food and excellent service

By Traveling_home_chef |

The restaurant interior is nice, clean and comfortable. Steaks and sauce were very good and the service was excellent.

Delicious food, awesome service

By Gail |

We picked up 5 dinners to go for Thanksgiving... for 3 different families. Although a bit of mix-up/misunderstanding at time of pickup, management quickly resolved and treated us to free glass of wine at bar while we waiting. All 3 families absolutely loved their dinners! Not sure why the bad reviews... Also, have never been disappointed at downtown or Domain locations for family celebrations. Also thought the Thanksgiving family meal was a good price/value for the quality, choice options and amount of food.

Fantastic Steaks

By Gerald0430 |

One of the top 3 steak joints in Austin in my opinion. The steaks are aged well with a great cut, and are cooked very accurately by the staff. The best steak is the KC cut, which is off the menu. The sides are all great, but I especially enjoy the bisque.

Steakhouse as it should be!

By Leslie B |

Fleming's is a classic steakhouse. Great steaks cooked exactly as you want it. Sides are perfect-mashed potatoes, wedge salads, onion rings, roasted brussel sprouts, and fresh hot bread. Service was very good and attentive throughout our meal.

Business Dinner

By klj913 |

I was here about a week ago with coworkers and clients on a business dinner during a conference that was in town. The food was exceptional. We ordered wine, cocktails, seafood appetizers, steak dinners, sides (specifics recommended by our server) and after dinner drinks and desserts. Needless to say we were stuffed to the max. The food was absolutely delicious and I didn't need to eat again for a week. If you want to pay the price tag that comes with great food, Fleming's is your spot.

Not what I hoped

By Netza G |

My wife and I came to Flemings downtown Austin spur of the moment and decided upon it since we had never been. For a Friday night around 7pm, there was not a wait and we did not have reservations. We ordered a NY Strip, petite filet with lobster, asparagus, and two baked potatoes. The sides can be shared, especially the baked potatoes. Upon receiving our steaks, I cut into the very thick steak and it was the color blue due to being so rare, I asked for a medium temperature. The steak was taken back and again was very rare. The THIRD time the steak was brought it was charbroiled on the outside and dry. I may have eaten about a third of the steak. My steak ended up being comped however, I was not impressed. Additionally, my wife, whom is a very good judge as well, was not pleased with her meal. Given the several choices there are in the city (Like VY Steakhouse) I do not think I would return.

Great Ambiance, great steaks!

By SEMPER F |

Our 5th visit, and it is consistently great! We had a gift certificate, so we could order expansively. The large Rib eye was cooked to perfection, and the Béarnaise sauce was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. The petite filet that my wife ordered was also excellent. The sides are always great, but we opted for a wedge salad and the grilled asparagus. No dessert this time, as we were too full. This place, although a chain, was fantastic for a high end steak house.

Fantastic Filet, salty lobster tail, wonderful service, great downtown location

By OCC04 |

Flemings was in walking distance from our hotel and we have been to the one in Baltimore so we tried it. My wife got the filet and Caesar salad and I had the french onion soup and lobster tail. The filet was cooked perfectly and she said it was excellent. The lobster was ok but was way too salty which ruined it for me. I've had much much better. Our server was terrific and we had a good time.

Good to be back home and with our favorite....

Its a tradition... and every time we back at home first place to go its our favorite, we love this place and the NORTH ATLANTIC LOBSTER TAILS my dish....ambiance,music,service... we just love it.. wine selection was just the perfect match for our meal and mmm best time..desserts... i highly recommend it...

Great food bad host

By Hostess with the mostest |

It rained for the first time in forever on this particular weekend we visited. It was slightly breezy that afternoon and I called to make reservations for 6 people to celebrate a new UT student in the family. I requested to be outside and no one said anything or made a suggestion. We arrive and it is HUMID. I apologize and ask if we can sit inside. It's a Thursday and the hostess looks at me and asks if I've ever lived in Texas. That was enough to piss me off. The dining was half full so it wasn't an issue. I'm sure they went through hell setting up the table outside. Geez. Wine and food were great. Skip appetizers if you want room for dessert.

Nice celebratory dinner

By vidhusagar |

Was here for a celebratory dinner and it was perfect in every sense. Service was friendly and very attentive. Food was above average and the selection of wines was good. Ambiance was elegant to match and desert was awesome. Would surely recommend for any formal occasion or a good dining experience. Pricing in on the higher side to match the experience.

Best in Austin - bar none!

By CatholicFather |

This place has recently been remodeled and looks amazing! It is warm and inviting with a touch of high sophistication. You feel right at home but appropriately pampered. The new lunch menu is filled with great steakhouse classics and exquisite lighter fare. They is something for every taste and budget. The dinner menu is amazing in its breadth of selections. You've got to try the flour less chocolate cake for dessert. As a Scotch drinker, the bar is perfect in its offerings. James, the manager, is seemingly everywhere in the restaurant and makes sure each guest had a perfect dining experience. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. The best restaurant in downtown Austin, bar none!

Very hospitable staff, great food

By Katherine McEachnie |

Convenient location to enjoy a great meal especially if you are involved in a Convention. Fantastic service, food very good. The Lobster tempura is very greasy. I don't recommend it. My husbands steak was excellent. Great wine list. We were made feel welcome instantly and well taken care of by every level of staff. We would go again!

A good night out

By irwinvno |

The prices are high, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere is elegant , the food outstanding. A short walk from the convention center and most major downtown hotels. Embodies the best of a high end stake house.

Nice Steakhouse

By rflye |

Was in Austin for the Formula 1 race and wanted to got to a nice Steakhouse for my wife's birthday. Flemings fit the bill perfectly. They went over and above from a birthday card to a nice dessert with a candle and chocolates. We both enjoyed our meal and had a pleasant and relaxing time. Thanks again to the staff.

Top quality food in top quality surroundings

By Amcd_IRL |

Yes its a steakhouse in Texas so yes the steak is VERY good, but they also have a very good selection of fish options, we had a group of 8 and went for the sea food platter to share for starter and boy was it impressive, this enormous bowl came out and was placed in the center of the table with all the usual good options like lobster, crab, scallops etc in ice, 1 point get out of the way when they are taking it away as it is very heavy and ice melts so there could be a spillage, luckily i wasn't in my seat when exactly that happened. But other than that it was a very nice restaurant with a great buzz

Delicious

By Arturo C |

Amazing meal! The filet was perfectly cooked as well as the drinks. Also, there are good options for sides, salads, and starters. Service is really good.

Tasty Steak

By RyanP_KC |

You get what you would expect at Fleming's. It is a Capital Grille/Sullivan's-type steakhouse...super flavorful and juicy prime steak, with buttery fat to kick it up a notch. Service was unobtrusive and timely, nice ambiance and appropriate noise level. I tried the french onion soup as a starter and it was solid, but not to the "great" level. Overall, exactly what you'd expect from an upper-end chain steakhouse.

Phenomenal steaks and service

By Christian Moser |

The steaks are very nice and tender. Great sides. The service was fantastic, George die a great job, we had so much fun and food was outstanding. A great selection of wines that work great with meat. What can be better than a tender filet mignon with a nice cab. They offer some great desserts too but I would not recommend the carrot cake.

Food excellent, service left something to be desired

By Thomas R |

Second time in a month, Food was great. Service this time was somewhat poor. Last time in server was outstanding, attentive and very pleasant. This time gentleman was slow and just did not keep up. Had to ask for water glasses to be refilled. Asked for some extra butter and never got, had to flag down another server. Will know next time to ask who to ask for.

Very good meal

By GoobsDad |

Here with a group of business associates, I was lured into having the fillet special - a small upcharge from the fillet that I was ordering anyway, but with the addition of a salad and dessert. Despite ordering the steak rare/medium-rare, it came out significantly done (I'd call it on the edge of medium/medium-well). Nonetheless, it was still quite good, although I wondered if the "special" cut came from a pile that they were in rush to get rid of that ought to be cooked to a greater degree. The wedge salad here is phenomenal, the wine was fine, and the creme brulee (which was, honestly, too much after the rest of the generous meal) was delicious. Our server was friendly, helpful, and as quick to attend to our needs as to share a story about "back home" with the fellow Chicagoan at our table.

Great vibe, service and food.

By Tim H |

We ate at 3 restaurants in Austin - Flemings, Fogo de Chão and Moonshine. This place was number 1. The restaurant itself is very nice - real jazz upstairs as well! Flemings was recommended to us and it lived up to it. We shared a few classic steakhouse dishes and loved it all. Service was superb as well, Will go back some day.

So enjoyed our evening with Kim waiting on us . So professional as well as welcoming, wonderful service. And Austin

By dkdoremifaAustin |

Our fabulous waiters, Kim was so fun and informative. Our dinners were “off the charts” Fabulous.........lobster tail, crab legs, and fillets. Thank you Flemings and Kim....we will be back !!!

Perfect way to celebrate!

By Jane C |

To celebrate my birthday this year, my wonderful family took me to Fleming's Steakhouse in downtown town Austin. The food was out of this world, the waiter was delightfully fun and helpful in our choices of entrees and the atmosphere could not have been better. I will look forward to returning.

Always outstanding.

By Sanda24237 |

Flemming's is one of my preferred chain restaurants. The service and the food is always top notch. We will be back.

Welcoming staff, reliable steaks

By mainemary |

This cozy chain offers a great wine selection and classic dining options. Solo diners can eat at the bar or at small booths adjacent to the bar. Women dining alone can feel very welcome and safe there. The restaurant was a popular prom destination the night i was there.

Not impressed

By allabouttellingit31 |

Overall I wasn't impressed with Flemmings. I'm not a picky eater or a complainer but I had to write a review because I expected more. I had the seafood tower for an appetizer and it was good - could've used some raw oysters. I wasn't in the mood for steak so I got the small plate of tuna / the description said raw - it was over cooked and tasted like charcoal. My husband ordered the dry aged New York strip and it was full of fat so we sent it back and they brought another steak out but didn't bother to take it off our bill. Flemmings you left a bad taste in my mouth. Very unsatisfied. Service was good though

Great dining experience

By Nicola444_10 |

Was dining solo. The server accommodated me by reducing the portion sizes for some of the sides which I highly appreciated. Had a wonderful steak and was really waited on very well which may me feel well taken care of. Good location in downtown Austin, highly recommend.

A chain but still great steak

By JennerTX |

If you like steak, you can't go wrong with Fleming's. Although a chain, they do a great job of making you feel welcome. For example, if it is a special occasion, they will gift you and your date/spouse with free chocolate truffles (they did this for my birthday) and that is a really nice touch. Very good service and awesome wine selection with a really cool, digital wine menu that you can flip through. Nice touch!

I am not a steak lover but now...!!!

By MSW625 |

I had decided to try the filet mignon and was I glad that I did. Chocolate walnut cake was decadent and while my party all decided that it was too rich and would only have 2 bites--we all FINISHED our own pieces and would probably have licked the plate had we not been in public!

A wonderful meal

By J E |

We went here for my father's 79th birthday. I am so glad we chose to do so. They were wonderful. A birthday card at the table. Everyone from the hostess to the manager wished him a happy birthday. At the end of the meal they had a box of truffles with a candle in them. All of this is very small but huge to my Dad. At 79, not many of his friends are around these days to call and wish him a happy birthday. Thank you for this Flemings! The meal was wonderful as well. Probably the best Wedge salad I have ever had. It came with a huge chunk of blue cheese. My husband ordered a Caesar Salad and said it was better than average as well. For entrees, Dad got their pork chop & a loaded bake potato, I got the Newport filet and husband got the petite filet. The pork chop was huge and Dad ate every bite, which means it was really good. My Newport came with the Fleming potatoes. We also ordered a side of asparagus. Everything was cooked to order. Overall a wonderful mean and experience. Extremely on point service. Junior was our server and did an amazing job. We can not wait to return.

Good Steak after change, but $$$

By 79j_rgw |

I was there on an invite. The service is very good and quick. I ordered the my steak medium but get it well done. Without any discussion I get a new one, now medium. The quality of the steak was really good even it was a little to salty. For me is the price a little to high

Seafood was ok

By Lorry T |

I should have had a steak. I ordered redfish with crawfish etoufee. I was disappointed. My husband really enjoyed his pork chop. He said it was one of the best he has had. Sadly, I couldn’t say that about my fish.

Food was excellent

By JSLoveis13 |

This place was everything I heard about it and more. Food was delicious. I had the crab cakes for an appetizer (yummy, full of crab). For my entree, I had the swordfish with lobster on top... sooo good.

Great Food and Drinks

By SGMPhil60 |

This is a great place to go for a great meal, but you best not be on a tight budget. The place is very nicely set up and the wait staff are efficient and friendly. They have a great wine selection and the steaks are outstanding. I recommend reservations or you may not get in especially on weekends and holidays. They do have a nice Sunday brunch as well.

Great eats!

By BabyJ1969 |

I ate here last on New Years Eve. Always enjoy a great steak and great selection of drinks here. Food is excellent and atmosphere is enveloping.

Lovely atmosphere and great food

By JSL |

Found this gem not far from our downtown hotel. So delicious. My filet practically melted in my mouth. Our first time to Austin and our dinner here was fabulous. Make sure to get the Brussels sprouts!

Wonderful Experience

By monisf |

Delicious food, professional and courteous service, upscale restaurant, nice choice of background music, even impressed by the restrooms! The Sunday prime rib special is an excellent value: prime rib with three sauces, salad (modern Caesar with toasted capers and prosciutto was a nice surprise), side (do not pass up the creamed Spinach!) and dessert (incredible deconstructed s'mores creation with whiskey sauce). Wines can be selected from the iPad delivered to your table - this gives you pricing as well as a nice description of the wine. I would make this a must-stop for future visits to Austin.

Superb - My best meal in Austin

By Adrian B |

Everything about this place is 5 stars, from the warm welcome at the door to the knowledgeable staff to the superb food. I came here with 2 work colleagues and the experience was really great, atmosphere was nice and busy (although oddly everyone just disappeared at 10pm). We ordered the Tomahawk steak to share and between 2 people it was more than enough, if you were smaller eaters you may even get away with sharing it between 3 of you. Everything from the bread to the potatoes side was done perfectly. Steak was done Medium Rare to perfection and was char grilled and really well seasoned. Wine was great, we had 2 bottles and the 2nd one was a recommendation from the waitress and was superb. This is how it should be done, it sets the bar for other restaurants. It is experiences like this that I reference when talking about other 3 or 4 star eateries and how they just miss the mark, this is the 5 star restaurant.

AMAZING

By Megan W |

Amazing food and superb service!!! The atmosphere is wonderful! All of the meats are prepared to PERFECTION!!! The side dishes are wonderful!!! There is an EXCELLENT wine list! The desserts are scrumptous. We live 4 hours away and come here often. It's ALWAYS a treat!!!

Polished staff, ok food and facility

By Craig H |

The service was outstanding. My house salad with pecans and cranberries was also very good. I ordered the small filet but I think mine was cut from the other end of the tenderloin. It was well presented and cooked to perfection, but was more like roast than a filet. This is Texas not New York City! Not sure what causes the noise level to be so high, maybe the bead board looking ceiling. The wine selection was vast and you're not going to leave hungry, but for the price I expected more.

Good, Solid Steakhouse

By PlatinumHoney |

Had the seafood platter to start, which was a whole lot of seafood...more than we could manage, but fresh and good. Enjoyed the rib eye steak on the bone, cooked just right, and the salmon was good, not great. Good service. Nice place.

Dinner

By Caroline D |

Good wine list. Lobster was very good - final preparations at table which can be tricky - executed nicely. Good steak and sides. Nice steak and seafood, pricey - all good. Nothing remarkable.

GoodFood and Service

By VETJET1 |

We ate here on Sunday where the special is Prime Rib dinner with salad, a side, and dessert. The prime rib was very good. The bread and the two spreads were also good and different. We had the Fleming potatoes and they were liked a baked au gratin potato loaf and I recommend them as they are something different and very tasty. Our deserts were the lava cake and creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was awesome and the lava cake was ok and a bit too salty. Service was good and the wine list was quite good. Pricing is a bit steep, $135 for the two of us and we only had a glass of wine each. Overall I recommend Flemings, we had a nice meal, good service, and the restaurant has a pleasant ambience.

Aged Bone-In Ribeye! That's really all!!

By Kure_beach |

What can I say! I've never been disappointed at Flemings. Aged Bone-In Ribeye is the best I've ever had!! Grilled to perfection and always my choose. Amazing..simply amazing!

Way over priced

By tfridge |

Honestly you'd be crazy to eat here. If you want a really good steak at a third of the price go to just about any steak restaurant chain, Long Horns is superb. If you want great steak in a classy environment go to the III Forks which is superb. Don't come here and spend a fortune on over priced steak and wine.

Amazing Dinner

By KMB |

The steak was delicious and the service great. Best Brussels sprouts I've ever had! My 9 yr old grandson was excited to have his own 3 course menu.

Great Place to hang out at. Fun bar 🤪

By teresamaria77 |

So 2 of us popped in here at the bar for a few cocktails/beers before we headed off to a concert at the Paramount. Great 💡 idea. The Valet parking is worth it. Drive up jump out and into the bar. We had a few drinks, well honestly I didn’t as I gave up the jungle juice for lent - so far so good but it’s killing me🙄 still there were beers and manhattans flowing. We ordered a bunch of appetizers for us 2, it worked out perfectly. You don’t always need the big meal and then feel like crap all evening. Eat small and often your body likes that😜 A fun group of people at the bar we were all deep in conversations and the time for by us so we didn’t order a dessert. We had to 🏃‍♀️. Make sure you sign up for their points system thing. It’s worth it. Whenever you’re in a restaurant always ask if they have rewards points. The bar staff were fun and friendly. Hustling. Neat old bar. TV there. When we left the restaurant had filled up with people. It’s a nice fancy pl e in our little town of Austin😊

Terrible food, terrible service, miserable ambiance. Go literally anywhere else!

By th m |

I needed to quickly book a decent restaurant in the Domain (Austin, TX) to host my husband's manager for dinner. I thought surely this be at least passable given the price point... Wrong, so very wrong. It was truly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! The ambiance (lol) is just - loud. The waitstaff are disorganised and indifferent, though frequently our waiter stopped by several times to brag about how great the kitchen is.. I guess they were trying to hypnotize us into thinking the food wasn't poorly cooked meat slapped on a plate with no thought or care? None of our steaks were cooked as requested and two of us sent them back. One was microwaved, the other refired and came out literally raw. But that barely mattered compared to how bad they tasted, terrible, terrible, terrible. I cannot stress that enough. Bad service I can get over, everyone has an off day, but the food is just so bad. I was mortified to have taken an important out of town guest to this horrible meal served in a miserable atmosphere. Please spare yourself and go literally anywhere else!!

Excellent Food and Service...For a Price

By John H |

We were looking for restaurants in walking distance of downtown hotels, and Fleming's got good reviews. We made online reservations and showed up early, No problem -- we were offered a choice of seating (this was midweek). The food was excellent, and the mixed drinks and wine were equally good. The only downer was that every item was individually priced, and not a small price, either. Fortunately Fleming's offers "Small Plates," which the ladies chose, and that saved us from financial ruin. The steaks were excellent, and the one side of shoestring potatoes was tasty as well, and enough to share. So, my view is that if you are flush with cash or have a hefty limit on your credit card, this is a great place. Otherwise, you may want to save Fleming's for when you ARE flush with cash. Four of us ran up a bill of nearly $300 before the tip, and the ladies did not have drinks.

Everything Tasty

By ichiji |

I went to a group dinner in the private room. Everything was excellent. I had chicken, which was amazingly good considering it was the non-beef alternative on the menu. Even the side vegetables were very tasty. Good service and pleasant atmosphere.

So delish

By JSLoveis13 |

Food was delicious. Service was stellar. Really enjoyed the filet mignon, lobster, king crab legs, Brussels sprouts and the potatoes were divine. The dessert was tasty and the drink was tasty. Would definitely visit again!

Underwhelmed

By Sandy K |

I’ve always liked Fleming’s. But I was underwhelmed tonight. The service was excellent. The people were nice. Much on the menu was good: the salads, the French Onion Soup, the desserts, and my son’s steak. But here’s what disappointed me: the steaks that my wife and I ordered and ate. Here’s my surmise about the problem: this was Tuesday night when the restaurant advertises a special combo for a good price. Our steaks were simply not tasty, and, we thought, subpar cuts. Our theory: the restaurant gets to lower prices by serving subpar cuts. I’m not sure what other explanation there is. But if ours is wrong, whatever else it is doesn’t make it any better. They should serve the same high caliber cut on Tuesday nights with the bargain prices. They didn’t!

OUTSTANDING FOOD AND SERVICE

By Daryl H |

The Austin outpost of this well-known high end national steak House chain is conveniently located in the heart of downtown with easy access to the convention center. Manager Taylor and staff go out of their way to make sure that their guests are satisfied and well served. Extensive menu of prime steaks, seafood, chops, and lobster. Wonderful appetizers and side dishes with generous portions and made for sharing. I had the salmon and my business associate had the Wagyu Strip. Both were prepared and served to perfection. The calamari, and Brie were delicious. Shrimp cocktail is served in the classic style and a perfect accompaniment to your evening cocktail. Flemings is known for their reasonable and popular bar menu that features daily specials during the happy hour. Now open for lunch with a new menu. This location newly remodeled with a pleasing and attractive contemporary decor. Valet parking available. Great location for all your special occasions. Reservations recommend.

I ate at the bar since I was alone. The drinks were perfect, the service superb and the food was fantastic.

Great Place for Business Meetings

By carol c |

I visited here with a few colleagues and business associates, it was a great time. We enjoyed great horderves as well as perfect entrees and sides. The drinks were perfect as well as the service and atmosphere. I will return. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

An "experience" not to be repeated.

By DaveSueGB |

Can't really believe this is Fine Dining, the $60 Rib Eye was as tasteless as the Waiter was tactless, this "Diner" needs to decide if it wants to be a Sports Bar with equivalent prices or an experience to remember for all the right reasons, not just $11 for a bowl of fries!

Steak dining treat

By elitePro |

Flemming's is a chain Steakhouse consistently serving top of the line beef steaks and quality wines. Pricy but worth it as a treat! This is a good location to conduct business because it is quiet and in central Austin.

Love at first bite.

By michaelmartman |

I did not realize this place was a restaurant chain, nevertheless, it was a very nice experience. Good atmosphere. Very good steak and side dishes. Good wine list. Since having eaten at the Austin location I have dined at other Fleming's locations. The first experience in Austin was the best.

Best choice for downtown steakhouses

By Rich R |

We have two favorite steakhouses based on trying them all. In the center of Austin it’s Fleming’s. Out west in the burbs it’s Steiner Steakhouse. For downtown business visitors or couples looking for a great steak or seafood, combined with great service, the best choice is Fleming’s. The wine list is extensive and satisfies any palette. The steak selections are expected. Seafood options are desirable for a non-turf eater. Sides are wonderful. Desserts are amazing, tasty and generous portions. Recent business dinner for 11 people was fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly. The wait staff was awesome as usual.

Lovely Mothers Day brunch

By CleosKeeper |

We are here for Mother's Day brunch. It was a lovely afternoon! We had reservations, and our table was ready when we arrived. The staff was friendly and efficient. The three course brunch was huge but delicious. We took our white chocolate bread puddings home and enjoyed them that evening. The prime rib was tender and cooked perfectly, the salad very nice, and the sides good. A yummy, if way too big, meal.

Good ambience to eat Great Steak!

I had 3 magnificent courses for dinner last week. Mixed entrée - tick, prime rib with shrimp, tick tick and great cheesecake. Wish I could eat there every week!

Impressive

A very nice place for dinner, good wait staff, more courteous then any place I've been in years. Quality food cooked just right, from the steaks to the potato's to the asparagus. Not cheap, I guess this is a place that you get what you pay for.

Excellent Steakhouse, Great Wine Selection

Flemings is located downtown near the convention center. The service and and ambiance are outstanding. Great steaks. Excellent wine selection - the somm even took us for a cellar tour. Fleming's isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

LOVE this place. The food is spectacular and so is the service. The Fleming's potatoes are killer. So is the filet and ribeye. I definitely can't wait to go back.

Be prepared to wait ....

We went as part of a large group of 30. Reservation was for 630, and we didn't get our dinner till 830pm. We waited almost an hour from salads to dinner portion. I understand things were slow (maybe to get us to drink more) but the good thing was even with our limited group menu the steaks were cooked perfectly so kudos to the kitchen staff. The bartender Pre meal while we were waiting was also fabulous. Dinner Service was average, so that's why I couldn't give it 5 stars. During the dinner service I had to ask multiple times for water to be refilled, for pepper for my steak, and drinks were slow to make it to the table (we know it wasn't the bartender- she was great). Multiple people said this also after the meal. So food is prepared well, but groups will need to be relaxed and go at their pace.

Not that impressed

If you are looking for red meat, this is the place. There is very little seafood on the menu. The steak selection offered HUGE cuts of beef , so we decided on selections from the small plate menu. The sliced filet was perfectly done but was served with a sauce on the meat that masked the beef flavor. the sauce should have been on the side. The braised short rib was also very tender but came with no sauce or other liquid. Even some beef gravy on the side would have been preferred.

Prime eats with prime service!

We came to Fleming's to dine before walking over to the Congress Street Bridge to see the Mexican short tailed bats do their thing as they do nightly this time of year. We were warmly greeted at the door as we'd made reservations. We felt like we were meeting old friends! Jason was our superb primary wait person, but others assisted. We never lacked for service - whether it was information or for food. There were three diners in our party. I ordered the wedge salad - which I then shared. I enjoyed the lettuce and the tomatoes, while others got the bacon and some lettuce. Dressing was excellent-blue cheese. We were all hungry for beef, so we each decided to go for the 6 oz filet that came with potatoes (scalloped-although the menu doesn't tell you that. They were excellent!) I ordered my steak with a béarnaise sauce - one of their complimentary sauces. I was happy with that decision! All the sides are served family style there and we had plenty to share among the three of us. We ordered the sautéed mushrooms, and the grilled asparagus. Sides do not come with your entreé, and the food is not inexpensive, so this helps with costs. However, it is ever so DELECTABLE! Jason mentioned desserts early on...one of them - the lava cake required about 15 minutes of preparation time. He would check back with us midway thru dinner to see if we thought we might be interested. Yup...we were.We shared ONE lava cake which came with 2 scoops of ice cream. Lovely way to finish our meal

Solid Steakhouse

By EllisEsquire |

Front of the house and waitstaff were very attentive. The operating manager was very friendly and checked on us during the meal. The food was solid, though my wife’s filet was somewhat under seasoned. My buffalo ribeye with truffle sage butter was delicious. Table breads and butter were outstanding. Drinks were on point and sides-brûlée’s sprouts and broccolini-were tasty. They even gave us some chocolate truffles to take home with us. It’s on the pricey side but the ambience and attentiveness are worth it.

Holy Cow!!!

This food was great but man is it expensive!!! If you can afford $50-75 a plate for a meal this is the place to be! I had the steak and shrimp special that night and it was to die for. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I have ever had. Would definitely recommend this restaurant but don't go in here expecting regular prices! Make sure you also understand their family style side dishes before ordering as you might not get what you are thinking.

A Nice Steakhouse Close to the Austin Convention Center

By Ralph B |

I actually ended up having dinner here 2x within a day apart. The first night I was looking for a steakhouse very close to the convention center and this was recommended to me as a tried and true upscale chain steakhouse. The 2nd time I was there was the decision of a local who selected this place. Both times the service staff was attentive but not intrusive.....very consistent both nights and the hostess on both nights was wonderfully welcoming. The food here is great and plenty of options as well as a kids menu.

Great happy hour with Live music in the bar on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Great crab cakes. Reasonable prices and great food options. Blueberry lemon drop cocktail is tasty. Love the olive appetizer and the tenderloin slider and burger. Very nice bar staff as well.

Best dinner we had after a week in TX

Ran into this place after everything was packed due the amount of people there for the F1. The surprise was pleasant, the food was great. Thought it was pricey when first saw the menu but holy cow (pun totally intended) their food was amazing. We all ordered (and finished) out steak and accompanied it with good wine.

Perfect.

Best steak so far after 5 days in Texas. Or table had a dry aged rib eye and a Wagu New York strip. Both were cooked to absolute perfection and were delicious. Our server, Eddie, was friendly, well informed and very attentive. He also made a great wine recommendation. Also a nice atmosphere and decor. I would visit again and absolutely recommend this place.

Filet mignon?

By Dr J W S |

Valet parking $10. Ambience in restaurant is excellent, typical for upscale restaurant. Service impeccable. Very well-mannered serving staff, precise timing. We got the daily "seasonal" special: salad, filet mignon on brussels sprouts with scallops--but they were sold out of scallops, so we accepted the shrimp substitute. Salad was excellent. But what they call a "filet mignon" is not what I call a "filet mignon." They define it as a cut of meat--marbled in between ribeye and sirloin--but just a cut of meat not nearly as lean as roast and NOT bacon wrapped. I don't get it. Filet mignon used to be an assembled piece of very lean tasty meat wrapped in bacon. So much for "old style." Everyone at table rated this steak C+ on an A-F scale. Better steaks can be found at McCormick and Schmick's and at Houston's, in Houston. But we enjoyed the dinner.

Dinner w/ Family from out of town

Atmosphere at Flemings is first rate for a special occasion or romantic date for two. This place is pricey. Sunday night is Prime Rib dinner night. The Prime Rib Dinner for $39.95 is served with a trio of sauces, includes your choice of salad or soup, one side dish and dessert. Our Prime Rib were prepared as ordered. We had two children with us and their entree's were well prepared also. They accommodated our special requests. Sauce to the side for the children's Meatballs and Spaghetti dish. Au Jus sauce for the children's Steak. No butter on the green bean side. Fresh horse radish instead of creamed for the Prime Rib. Light on the vinaigrette on the Burrata Salad. The sides are family style and made for passing(though not more than three adults worth). The French Onion soup was good and cheesy. The Wedge Salad and Burrata Salad were fresh and yummy. The Wedge was really firm. The Mionetto Extra Dry Prosecco was not as fruity as some, we liked it. The Beefeater Martini was good and made to spec. A Rutheford Ranch Cab Sav was a bold and dry red. The Green Beans w Sliced Mushrooms were fresh and delicious likewise the Grilled Asparagus. The Chocolate Lava Cake was enjoyable though the Belgian chocolate center was a tad more sweet than semi sweet. The Cheesecake w/ Reduced Blueberry Sauce was tasty. The table was given extra bowls of Chantilly Cream for added sugar shock. The children also enjoyed their Hot Fudge Sundae and Berry Sorbet. Our waiter was John pretty good though he seemed very busy. The water guy was funny and pitched in. There was another waitress that pitched in when John seemed busy. Our salad, soup and crudités(Children) course was all out together. Our main courses were all out together. Mind you this caliber restaurant, you would expect that. Slight hiccup with dessert on timing. The Chocolate Lava Cake takes 11minutes and John said he would return mid meal to take our dessert order to alleviate an extra wait but he didn't. He did drop off the dessert menu but didn't return to take the dessert order. No matter, we had the time but we noticed it. The restaurant was 3 avg blocks from the JW Marriott Hotel. Flemings Austin Downtown is at 320 East 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78701 512-457-1500 There's valet service priced at $8.00 when we went. Be aware this location is right next to the Austin Convention Center so parking can be at a premium and weather can contribute as well (40 degrees and miserable drizzle). All-in-all, if you're looking for atmosphere and don't mind spending a little extra, Flemings is the place. Now serving lunch.

Excellent Service

We went here to celebrate early Valentine's Day and had a great time. Our server, Curtis, was excellent and the wine manager, Peter, was spot on with our wine choice. We ordered the 'new' Wedge Salad to share - for future reference I would order the 'original' - I don't like this version nearly as well, but it was still good. We both ordered steaks - a bone-in ribeye and a filet. The steaks are the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. While both were tasty and cooked to our liking, they were not what I would expect from Flemings. Both steaks were thin. I expected a steak that was at least an inch thick, if not thicker and the ribeye was at best 3/4 and the filet maybe an inch. The filet was also in two pieces- strange. Neither steak looked that appealing, but as I said they both tasted good. If not for the awesome service I probably would have given this three stars. Normally I would have called a manager over, but we were having such a good time, we let it go.

Nice restaurant, average meal

By Mike J |

Was in town for business, this was recommended as the best steak restaurant in Austin. It was a nice place to be, very dark but that's fine, the service was good. They didn't have the cut I wanted (bone in aged rib eye) so went with the boneless. The steak was fine, nothing special, and something wasn't right with the peppercorn sauce (maybe it just wasn't to my taste). It was very expensive which means I would expect the best. Not quite there. Nice evening but would try elsewhere next time.

Delicious Steak

By Patricia P |

Only one night in Austin and this steakhouse was recommended. We got a booking the same day and found Staff were welcoming and efficient. The four of us sat in one of the booths and this was fine, have to say though, that two of us found the dim lighting difficult to read the menu! Also, not sure that the IPad wine list is conducive to relaxed dining. Would much rather order off a printed wine list. We all four of us enjoyed our steaks. Would definitely return. Delicious.

Wow now thats a steak

I had one of the best New York Strips I have ever had here. The staff was great and the atmosphere was fantastic.
