Brewhouse only

By tessabear2010 |

The place was almost empty when I arrived but it seemed an eternity before someone came to take drink orders. When she did she took our food orders as well. That's fine but she preceded to take other tables orders seated around me, then went to get our drinks. The ahi salad was good served with a rice wine vinaigrette with the exception of the rancid tomatoes. My lunch companion had a house salad , not fresh but dried out with the same bad tomatoes. Her other selections were acceptable but not great. Our server never returned. Our drinks were never refilled. When I finished lunch and looked around to ask for the check, I noticed 4 tables around me also finished, waiting for their checks. As we sat, we made eye contact with each other, rolled eyes... Eventually the server showed up with checks for all the tables at once. If there was a problem, it was not conveyed. After waiting for an eternity for the check, I decided to not pay by credit card and instead left the only cash i had that included a meager tip. The service was terrible. My luncheon companion said she had experienced similar service on another occasion. That's all the confirmation I need to know I won't be experimenting with BJ's again.

Wahoo! Fish Tacos are GREAT

By agouram5 |

BJs is a well run chain and the room is really spcacious and comfortable. Business lunch and an excellant experience... enough space between patrons for discussion and attentive waitstaff. Grilled Mahi fish tacos were fnatastic with great sauces and chips. Ahi tuna sushi salad was a huge hit across the table too.

Great neighborhood movie digs

By Beth is TallLadyTX |

I was able to enjoy a movie with my family and although I'm a hard-core Alamo Drafthouse fan, this theater was closest to my father's house. I liked how they had soft lighting available so that you could read the menu without using your cell phone's light. Service was prompt, food was pretty good and seats were comfortable. All in all a very nice treat!

beer not cold food not cooked

By kayhan98 |

not a good experience, beer in a brew house should be served in a ice cold mug, you serve in a warm glass by the time I get it the beer is not that cold. Can get a colder beer in my refridge at home. Had to send back and pay more for a domestic bottle beer so it would be cold. Ordered supreme pizza, was not cooked all the way, doughy. Hard to complain when you cant talk because the movie is on. Ordered the egg rolls and they were really good.

My preferred Movie viewing location

Best Brewery/Movie house in town! Great seating, great food, great beer. I'm hesitant to give a glowing review because it will make it harder to get good seats, but ah well.... this place is great!

Dinner Date or Movie Date? Why not BOTH!!!!

By Michael M |

Me & my family absolutely love this place. Where else can you go to have a great beer while getting F ood that actually taste great??? We have Alamo draft house but flix is superior to Alamo as far as seating, eating area ,project quality, etc. I was an Alamo D.H. goer but flix took the idea an knocked it out of the park. They did a revamp on there food items & elevated the quality of flavors. They also do reserved seating, I like to sit center half way up. Whether you on a date a family putting or a breakfast outing this place does all of the GREAT!!!! I Highly recommend the biscuits & gravy for breakfast, fluffy & creamy.

Father's day

Lunch for Father's day at BJ's. Food was very good. FIsh tacos a little bland, but good. My dad enjoyed his burger and beer. Food hot and service excellent!

Fun Reasonable Lunch Selections

By Ricki M |

We had a fantastic waitress, Kelsey, who made a fun lunch super. It does not hurt that my brewer husband had such a vast choice of beers to sample. Most brewhouses offer slidders and burgers. This one has a variety of truly inexpensive lunch entrees. We will be back.

Fabulous place, great beer, very different

By Sookiesiamese |

This is a very unique experience and especially if you like a brew with your movie, or before/after. Great choices of in-house and external brews. Nice menu/food, comfortable seats, great service - a rare combination when you're also out for a movie.

This is the only way that we will go to a movie

By 348michellac |

The food here is pretty good, I usually get the wraps or avacoda grilled chicken sandwich. The beer is great. We love getting there early and sampling the different beer.

Best restaurant/bar in round rock

By bartschmid |

Good service with good drinks and food. I don't know of any competition in the areas north of Austin.

Pretty Good Craft Beer.

By KitchenerCouple1986 |

Enjoyed some of the local beer on tap. Tried a light beer and a "piranha". Server was a little overwhelmed when we got there. Waited 10 minutes for a beer. After a few more servers showed up it was much better. Food was pretty decent also.

Best Theater

By darla b |

This is my favorite theater for the price. Seats comfy and food is good. Great beer choices. I also love the way you can adjust your tray to pull closer to you instead of the stationary tray that most places have.

Enjoyed my first BJs

By Rocky5001 |

Dinner at BJ's was very good, my wife and I will definitely be visiting here again. Our server James was excellent. The menu was huge with a very large variety (it reminded us of the book you get the cheesecake factory). We ended up splitting the thai shrimp lettuce wraps and the bbq chopped salad. Huge portions at reasonable prices. I would recommend both of these but with so many choices I will likely order something new next time. I've got to try their pizza and beers.

Good food

By Jackie V |

Great variety of food and beverages. Food was excellent, service a little slow. It was fairly quiet (suppose because it was a Tuesday night). At other bj's locations we have been to, it was rather noisy.

Movie and beer

By Medea H |

Go for the movie and the beer...Food is not great, I tried pizza, burgers and chicken wings, nothing memorable, the salad even had very dry lettuces.

Great Place

By Yuri R |

Great Meal and great staff. I recommend this place for everyone looking for a very good meal and good drinks. They have amazing beers

I want to like this place...

By SnarklePatty |

but I don't. The menu is very large, which may be part of their problem. They try to do too many things and do them with mediocrity. The establishment itself is nice and cozy. They have a large beer selection which is so/so. Their own beers however are not good at all. The last time I visited BJ's will be my last time ever. I had horrible service from a bar tender and food which was very poorly prepared. There are far too many other good places in the area to spend your money at such as Deckhand and Johnny T's.

Mid-Afternoon/Late Lunch treat

By Noni53 |

After spending most of the day shopping for Christmas gifts - it was time to get something to eat. We had passed BJ's often on I-35 and had heard it was good, so we decided to hit it on the way back to Georgetown. The place was welcoming and about 1/4 full. We were instantly impressed with all the beer taps behind the bar. Husband had fish and chips while I had the California Burger. Both were presented and cooked well. The menu is massive and I will definitely have to return again and again to try more items as well as most of the brews on tap.

Very well thought out!

Not having been to Flix Brewhouse before, I wasn't sure how anything worked, from the movie tickets to ordering. Staff was extremely helpful in explaining everything. Your ticket has a letter on it, used for lining up for movie entry when it's time. You can have a drink or order food before your movie, or wait until you get into the theater. Bar staff are happy to give a taste of their fairly extensive beer selection so you get the perfect pint. Rows of seats have a tabletop in front of them, areas which slide out so you can bring your food closer as you watch the movie. There's a button for every seat, which promptly brings a server directly to you, and a menu at every seat. I had a burger - very good - and the fries were really good. Oh yeah, and then there's the first run movie..! Just traveling through the Round Rock area, but if I lived here, this would be a regular haunt.

Great Date Night Place

By GRO3 |

The folks here are always nice and go above and beyond to do whatever they can to accommodate your dining needs. They do have a gluten free menu but you have to ask for it. Never had any problems with their food which has been delicious every time. Movies are good especially on full stomach however one of my favorite parts is the pre-movie old time cartoons, the funny clips of old movies that they show prior to the movie. I really like that there is now reserved seating as it makes things so much easier. Their policy on kids is great too and makes it much easier to have a grown up night out.

Great staff!

By EricPBliss |

Never been to a Flix Brewhouse. From the moment my wife and I entered, we were greeted with smiles that turned even bigger when we stated we had never been...we just moved to the area last month. Our servers, Crystal and Taylor helped us through the process...I had 2 very good different IPA's and a pizza that tasted homemade, and my wife had a SW salad and 2 desserts...a raspberry tart something ans a vanilla shake--all outstanding. Movie was great, paying painless, and Kyle came in and grabbed me some last-minute popcorn, after we had already closed out, with no fuss. I just had to share how great the staff was...it was what separated the experience from the norm, and one of the managers, Brandon, was kind to come out and accept our praise as well as telling us the names we hadn't all caught--he knew his people and their asdignments without having to look things up--a very good sign of a nanager that treats people as people and not commodities. Great experience!

Best movie experience ever!

By John27534 |

It was so fun, so comfortable. The staff was so friendly, there was not a single frown to be seen in the whole place. The food was good, the house brews were choice and all around a great dinner and a movie concept brought to life.

Awesome!

By Jennifer H |

Went to see 50 Shades of Grey, really good movie, and it was my 1st time at a brew house. It was awesome! Good food, friendly, quick service. Polite and knowledgeable staff. Would def go back here!

Great hangout

By Julian H |

My wife and I went for dinner and I had the ribeye and she had chicken. My ribeye was a lttle overcooked for it being medium well. There was no pink and it was dry. My wifes chicken was great. I also tried one of their beers. It was pretty good. This place looks like a great place to hangout and drink.

Bad Odor

By Wendy S |

I went to a movie and the service was extremely good! I had the buffalo chicken wrap, which was really good. I had a beer that I didn't care for and they replaced it with another more to my liking. What ruined the experience was an extremely strong, odd smell: a combination of heavy smoke, mildew, & febreze - it really ruined my meal & movie. Their seats were very uncomfortable, but I liked that the counter adjusted forward.

Mildly overrated.

By Amy-R-Z |

Decent food. Ok atmosphere, but just another bar and grill. The menu is huge, but the food is average. I like to leave a restaurant with a WOW experience, whether that is from the food or the service, but I got neither with this place.

Cool movie experience

By TXnatives |

I was a little scared at first because I didn't know what to expect. We decided to share meals so we could try out a few options and both were good. We got there right before the movie started so our food was delivered during the previews so it was new for me to eat in the dark. There is a little light so you can see a little without disrupting the viewing experience. Their custom draft choices are very tasty. The service is swift and they have a very efficient way of expediting food and charging you so you don't miss any of the movie. I would definitely go back when I visit again.

Date nite!

By Gcelina |

Always an awesome time. Book your seats/tickets online before you go. Flix gift cards purchased at Sams club don't work online but apparently they are working on a fix. Burgers are good and hummus appetizer with veggies and pita is cheap and delicious! Tons of beers on tap also. Good place to take a date.

Average

By Adam G |

I will preface this review by saying I have visited both of Flix Brewhouse's major competitors and am comparing Flix to them. Price: Flix was marginally cheaper than Moviehouse and slightly more expensive than Alamo. Theater: The theater at Flix is bigger than any of the other theaters I've visited at the other venues. Comfort: my wife and I both found the seats to be uncomfortable at Flix. Of the three theaters Moviehouse has by far the most superior seats. Food: for the sake of this experiment I ordered similar pizzas at all three theaters, I found the pizza at Flix to be much smaller and not as good as either competitor. Service: both Flix and Moviehouse have a button to push to summon your server as opposed to Alamo you have to write your request in a piece of paper and place it in front of your seat. The button obviously works better than writing on a piece of paper and hoping your server sees it. I found the service to be good at all three theaters and would declare this category a tie. Overall experience: although it is harder to get two seats side by side in the smaller theaters offered at Alamo and Moviehouse (during peak times) without some pre-planning I personally prefer both of them more than Flix. I found Felix's theater to be very hot, with uncomfortable seats. The food at Flix also seemed to be slightly more expensive than the other two competitors and not as good (except the fried pickles which were amazing) Final thought: if you enjoy a full service movie going experience you can't really go wrong with Flix but I personally wouldn't go out of my way (like last night) to go back again, I think both of the other options are better.

Extensive menu, decent food

By DarronS |

The craft beer selection makes this restaurant for me. As for food, my favorite is the avocado tacos appetizer. No restaurant with such an extensive menu will have excellent food, so go in expecting competence and you'll be happy. The pizzas are very good, as are the salads. The rest of the menu is average. Good place to watch sports while eating, and family friendly.

Nothing but lettuce

By TwoTravelers99 |

I ordered the Honey Crisp Chicken Salad, which the menu said included lettuce, toasted almonds, cucumber, hard boiled eggs, corn and tomatoes. The only thing on the shredded bed of lettuce besides four very small strips of chicken, which were good, but not at all representative of the picture in the menu (5 big pieces), was a few pieces of corn. No toasted almonds, no cucumber, no hard boiled eggs and no tomatoes. I did not bring this our server's attention, because I was with a group of people and did not want to cause a scene. I am really sorry now that I did not say anything. In addition, when I paid the bill, the waitress took it upon herself to keep my change and only bring me bills back. I realize many restaurants are doing this now, but that does not make it right, And they had a suggested gratuity, which I would not have minded if I had not already felt ripped off. I will not be returning to BJs Restaurant & Brewhouse and will not recommend it to any of my friends. There are too many other options out there.

Only place to see a movie!

By Joseph B |

My family loves this place. Nice comfy reserved seats, food, drink. What more could you ask for? I don't think we'll ever go to a conventional movie theater again!

Good beer but the rest could be better

By ScarlettO39 |

I love the idea of Flix Brewhouse, and maybe I was there on an off day. But here's my experience. The house made beers are tasty! I appreciate that you can order them from the bar in the lobby. This is very convenient if you have friends who are running late, and you're holding their tickets. The theater itself is nice with lots of spacious seating. The pull out tray tables are awesome! You can eat comfortably instead of sitting on the edge if your seat or holding your food in your lap. The food was meh. I ordered the mac and cheese with chicken. It came out lukewarm and tasted just a bit better than mac and cheese out of a box. The service was horrible. I was there with a large group that had bought tickets in advanced. Instead of being prepared, there were two servers for the entire theater. Getting drinks or refills was impossible, and our food arrived halfway through the movie. And did I mention we sat down 30 minutes before the movie started and saw no one for the first 20 minutes? This theater has loads of potential, but there's lots of room for improvement.

Disappointed

By Honest R |

Unfortunately, my experience at Flix Brewhouse was quite disappointing this time around. It seemed like they were overwhelmed, possibly due to the Barbie movie event or other factors. Trying to get a drink at the bar before the movie was a challenge, and the bartender appeared stressed and dismissive initially. Inside the theater, the service was quick, but there were issues with our drink order. We asked for a bottle of Stonegate chardonnay, but the manager informed us that it wasn't available and offered a different brand for an exorbitant price. We declined and settled for two 9oz glasses of the Stonegate. Strangely, they brought us both the glasses and the bottle. After questioning them, they acted as if we hadn't requested just the glasses, and it felt suspicious. Despite initially inquiring about our alcohol intake and confirming that we had one drink prior at the bar, they didn't provide us with water throughout the entire movie, only the chardonnay we ordered. This seemed inconsistent with their supposed concern about monitoring alcohol consumption. The food order was also a mess. They initially served my sister a burger without a gluten-free bun, which could have caused her severe GI distress during the movie due to her celiac diagnosis. Thankfully, we caught the mistake, but then we discovered that both our burger orders were incorrect and not the type of burger we ordered. It was disappointing to see such carelessness with food orders. Anyways, should out to server Bryan, who seemed the most organized, efficient and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. However, they switched him out midway through our visit. While I do appreciate the theater's location in proximity to my residence and had a positive experience in the past, this recent visit was far from satisfactory. Calling themselves "the best luxury theater" doesn't hold up when compared to other theaters like Moviehouse. I hope Flix can get their act together because they are falling short of their claims at this time.

Not Quite Alamo

By AustinsIrishPirate |

While this may be a good alternative to folk who live in Round Rock, the only reason I really went was for their crawfish macaroni & cheese, and their jalapeno popper pizza. Unlike most Alamo Drafthouse locations, though, they do seem a lot cleaner and they have a button you press to get a waiter's attention as opposed to putting a paper slip up that sometimes no one will see. Unfortunately, this trip revealed that they have reworked their menu. There isn't really anything unique on there anymore, but I've lost my reason to ever go back to be honest. I'll drive the extra ten minutes to Alamo.

Different date night out

By Adriana R |

Nice place to eat and drink some good bear wile you're watching a movie. The food it's not the best but it's pretty good, the service is very good. Be careful when you're buying your tickets and avoid the ones that are in the middle of the aisles because those have a really small tables (like airplane table size)

Great beer and food, even better service

By Bill2100 |

The breakfast pizza was excellent (for lunch). We had the Flix Scottish Ale (very good), as well the Flix Octoberfest (excellent) and 512 Pecan Porter (also very good). Best part was the excellent service provided by Debo. Definite two thumbs up.

Everything was great

By dil345 |

Stopped in around 4pm today for the first time. Service was excellent, "custom made" pizza was made as ordered, and atmosphere was great. Definitely will return in the future.

Brewing a Good Time !!!

By George A |

My wife and I decided to try Flix Brewhouse out for the first time this Memorial Day Weekend. This was not a good choice but fantastic choice. We had a great time. Upon arriving early, we sat in the bar/restaurant area. I ordered a Round Rocker Lager which was crisp and fresh....a very good beer. We decided to pass on the entrée because we had a small meal before. Instead, we decided to have two appetizers during the movie. We got to our seats in the theater and enjoyed the comfort of the seats. There is a bar that runs along the lower end of the bar like table in front where your food and drinks are that allows you to relax and recline. Ordering is easy and fast. My wife had the chips and queso which was good. The queso had just a hint of pepper. I had the potato skins which went well with my beer. The trays the food sit on slide toward you so you don't have to reach far to snack or eat. You also won't spill anything on your clothes. The are arm rest that you can slide down to your side to hold your drink or perhaps and arm or elbow. We spent about $35 bucks on food and drinks. Including the price of two movie tickets we were under $50 which is a bargain compared to similar movie and drink outfits in the Austin scene. You can bring your own growler to save on beer if you have a couple of friend that enjoy beer. Restrooms are conveniently located near theater rooms. The staff is plentiful and willing to help. The intimate auditoriums are not cold. I plan to entertain guests here in the near future.

Great Variety of Food and Drinks

By Paula S |

Both of the times we went to BJ's the food was excellent with a great variety to choose from. The salad with rare tuna was wonderful and made me want to go back again. We are not beer drinkers, but the Bloody Mary's were great and spicey. A beer drinkers paradise from what I could see. Excited to see they are building a new restaurant in the Cedar Park area close to home. If not, I would still be going the extra mile for this place.

Excellent Value

By sojourner |

Came by BJ's for lunch. Nice place. I was looking for something simple, so I only had chicken strips and steak fries. Very good.

Third try - awful service

By bsmith5353 |

Been 3 times and each time had a mess - very slow bar and kitchen - food quality was poor - overall has been a bad experience so we are done trying to give BJ's a chance

I enjoyed it :)

By chelseajreese |

The food and service was great. I would of given 5 stars but I believe everything could have been cleaner. Will definitely be returning!

Nice place for food and a movie

By Curtis J |

First time I had been to a restaurant and movie at the same time. I have seen them, passed them by, just never gone to one. Flix is a really nice place for a bite to eat or lunch/dinner and a movie. Chairs are really nice and comfortable to sit, table slid out towards you. I would recommend coming back to this place and catching a movie and beer.

Unique experience

By Kelly C |

Being from Illinois we do not have movie theaters like this, and if we do I don't know about them. I enjoyed being able to drink a beer and watch a movie with some decent food. I like having the about to choose a seat and everyone wasn't talking. Wait staff comes to you. I gad a great experience!

Dinner and a Movie (and Beer)!

By kariesue |

Arrive early (before your movie is seated) and go to the bar where they will help you find the drink that you are looking for. I told them what beers I currently like and they offered suggestions and tastes. Then you can either get a full glass there or with your server in the theater. The food is typical bar food, if you want a gourmet dinner, go before or after your movie and have popcorn or snacks. The hummus and vegetables were a generous serving and loved the french fries, crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

A great hang out spot!

By Grace A |

My friends and I usually go to Flix Brewhouse when we want to see a movie and have dinner. It is very helpful to be able to do both of these things at once and find parking quickly. There are lots of options on the menu including the salads, which is what we usually have, drinks and dessert. The chairs are also very comfortable.
