I've been going to The Flying Biscuit for many, many years now. It never disappoints. The southern scramble with collards and their signature turkey sausage is simply scrumptious. As are the black bean cakes. But make no mistake, the biscuit is all about the grits--cheese and butter laden, creamy dreamy amazement. If there's a heaven, it serves these grits.

Nestled just outside of Little 5 Points is the originally Flying Biscuit. This was the second trip for me, first for mom. Wait staff found us a nice table, and the food was exceptional. The wait staff very accommodating and thru a few perks in our doggy bag! Decor is funky as is the atmosphere. Fortunately, we didn’t have a wait since we went mid week. Unfortunately, parking is still a problem; but worth putting up with!

Wanted to try this restaurant for years. Finally went and was not disappointed in the least. The food was amazing....strange to say about breakfast fare, right? I had the Chorizo Hash. Wow. Went back the next day (even though it's on the other side of Atlanta) and had the same thing! Service both trips was perfect. The staff really care that you have a great dining experience. How refreshing!

Terrific service by our favorite server (Paula), good food and interaction with regular customers makes The Flying Biscuit - Candler Park special and our weekend breakfast place on a regular basis. The decor is not fancy, but the atmosphere is homey. The prices are right and it's a good value for the dollar. Try it. You'll like it...

We really enjoyed our visit to this very cool place. I highly recommend this cafe for its great food and service. We enjoyed a deliciously different breakfast that was worth the wait. It's usually a good sign when there is a line for breakfast. Trust me, do yourself a favor and wait. You won't regret it.

Only OK I’ve been to the Flying Biscuit a couple of other times and have always found it just OK. Nevertheless, I keep seeing it appear on “Best Breakfast in Atlanta” lists. So I tried it again. Still only OK. The French toast suffered the indignity of so many Atlanta restaurants—too soggy. Fortunately, I asked for the accompanying vanilla cream to be put on the side. It was rather unpleasant and would have ruined the dish completely. The also accompanying raspberry sauce was, however, quite tart and delicious. I also got a side of Applewood smoked bacon. Usually this is thick and chewy and rich. Here is was just everyday bacon, cooked to within an inch of its bacony goodness and to a point where it simply crumbled when touched by the fork. The coffee was just OK. I think that this was my last visit to the Flying Biscuit.

Visiting my cousin in Atlanta always means a trip to the Biscuit... Funky, artsy atmosphere, good coffee, good music playlist and the apple butter is to die for. I am def a repeat customer.

The food was great. Loved the sweet potato pancakes! Biscuits are to die for. Especially with the apple butter.

Stopped for lunch sit at the lunch counter. Busy walk up crowd. Great biscuits with chicken pot pie. Hot green tomatoes were my second choice. Quick, efficient serving. Open style so could watch the cooks and wait staff. Friendly cordial crowd. Come on get some food

Looked for a couple of good local joints while in town for the Fed Ex Cup. Got there early on a Sunday and enjoyed the people watching. Very diverse crowd but wait staff was friendly and attentive without being bothersome. Grits were good, but as a country boy- they seem to forget that the best breakfast food comes from a pig. Chicken sausage gravy and turkey bacon. Definitely a 5 star experience even without the pork.

You will never be disappointed when eating at a Flying Biscuit! The food is excellent! Mary, our server today, was so very sweet. She let my husband borrow her umbrella to walk to our car in the pouring rain, then used another umbrella to walk me to the car when my husband drove up. She did not want me to get wet!

I finally got to go to The Flying Biscuit Cafe and was not disappointed. We arrived on Saturday about 1:30, found a parking spot right away and waited about a half hour for a table. The service was excellent and friendly and the food was delicious. I really loved the decor as well. I sure would love to see one on my side of town!

We are an early 30 something, "normal," couple from Fort Worth, TX. This was the last of our food stops before flying home from our vacation for a week in the Southeast. We visited this place Thursday January 14, 2016 at 10:30 am. I tend to write long reviews which I hope are informative beyond the average review. Read it all if you care to. Quick Pros/Cons list just below. Pros: Good tasting food Good service Cons: Street parking only Some menu items underwhelmed Food Review: I had the "High Flyer Breakfast" Grits were very good. Not too heavy to enjoy as a breakfast item. Biscuit was bad. Hard and over cooked. Not good at all. Sad since its in the darn name of the restaurant. My oatmeal pancake was heavy and lacking in flavor. The warm peach topping was nice, but I only ate about 1/3 of the pancake due to lack of being tasty. She had the french toast with raspberry preserves and a side of bacon. Her toast and raspberry were great. Not too soggy, just the right amount of creamy sauce to enjoy. Bacon was thick cut and cooked well. A great overall meal. Cons Expansion: See above fore underwhelming food. We had to find street parking in front of a house. No signs up saying resident parking only, but I felt bad parking in front of someones house on a busy street. Overall, good food and good service would make me come back again and try something different. I suggest you give this place a try.

Dunno about the biscuits, but the vegetarian omelet is always on point. This is a verrry busy location. Arrive early to get a seat.

What a delicious lunch. The biscuit-yummy. The fried green tomatoes, nice. I didn't get the connection between the cayenne goat cheese, cashews/honey and the tomatoes, but thought the cheese went well on the biscuit. Why get mac and cheese when you can get Grilled Mac and Cheese? The shrimp and grits were excellent. The original is the one in Candler Park, and I believe a nicer setting then Midtown.

I went here for brunch while visiting Atlanta. They had amazing grits (I'm from the west where they don't eat grits) and their mango mimosas were to die for. They look like they are busy a lot, so keep that in mind as far as service. Overall- delicious, friendly workers and I'd totally go there again!

We have seen the restaurant on many TV shows, so we have been anxious to trying this restaurant. It's in a nice neighborhood, just outside of downtown. There is a bit of a wait, but it appeared that this was normal and no one seemed to mind. It has a very modern type of menu, lots of vegetarian etc, so if you are looking for the standard bacon and eggs, this probably isn't your spot. We asked if there would be any biscuit flying and were told, just hang on there would certainly be biscuits thrown, but , alas, no flying biscuit. This is what we saw on tv and it made this place look like a fun place, so we were a bit disappointed. (we came from Wisconsin to see it) The food was good and so was the service. Seating is very tight. I have now been there and will try something else next time.

I went here with some of my family for Sunday brunch. We didn't have a terrible wait even though there were five of us. Our server, Ryan, was great. The food was delicious. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and it was amazing! Creamiest grits ever. Loved how quaint it felt. Prices were reasonable too.

Had breakfast here while passing through Atlanta. If you need a fix of southern food, this is the place to go. This is the original location and its the best one. The scene if fun and the food is great. We had our fair share of biscuits, gravy, grits and fried green tomatoes. This place is on our list of must hits when passing through ATL.

The food was amazing. I adapted a dish and the food was not quite hot but it was tasty. They were major busy. Go early.

The food here is amazing! So many options it’s hard to pick. The high flyer is a lot of food, and has just about everything; eggs, sausage, biscuit, an oatmeal pancake with peaches, and grits (I swapped mine for an extra biscuit). I’m not a small guy and I couldn’t finish it all. Also, it makes use of chicken sausage instead of pork. It’s different, but tastes good. The staff was very friendly too!

Like the reviews on another breakfast place, it's easy to believe you'll come away transformed after eating here. The people are nice, decor is New Age Hippie, and food is fine. Late on a Monday morning we hit no crowds so the food came fast and hot. But it was just average. Not bad or inedible. It didn't have spectacular flavor... turkey bacon is the preferred protein and it just didn't suffice. The gravy for the biscuit was nice and salty as was the bowl of grits - creamy and buttery. But the whole plate was not better than what anyone can pull off at home.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. I’m not a fan of grits, but these were very good and both my dad and brother said they were the best. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are hungry this is a place where you get a lot of food. The bacon was a big hit and the sausage had a great flavor, just a little over cooked. There is a wide variety of options so all should be able to find something they like.

the candler park location is great compared to the other flying biscuit spots. what's good is the to-go order / pick up shop right next door to the main restaurant. we did that and it was so easy!

Delish loj turkey bacon oatmeal pancakes I love the decor fun menus fun servers very beachy cafe I love it

This place was so lovely! I could have eaten here every day! Things I loved the most was the grits (they are SO good) and the day old muffins. We would come by in the morning and it was so cool that they offered cheaper muffins from the day before. Eat here once you will for sure eat here again if you like breakfast! Well done and we will always come back. - good for sit down breakfast And -quick coffee and muffins! So stop by!

Awesome breakfast bowl. Fried green tomatoes. Turkey sausage. Scrambled eggs were perfect. Service was right on time and 12 bucks ! Biscuits live up to their reputation. I ate there 4 days in a row

Food was ok. Service was fast and friendly. It took me a few times to find it on my Gps. You can't see it from the road and it took me a couple of times to find it.

Haven't been to The Flying Biscuit in more than 15 years, but nothing's changed! The menu selections are incredibly tempting and very hard to choose from, but once your food comes to the table you're guaranteed satisfaction. We had brunch on a Monday and the service was great. No wait, no lines, no fuss. After our meal we popped into the "to go" shop next door and bought a cute T-shirt and a yummy muffin. The Flying Biscuit is still a very delicious cafe!

Every time I am in Atlanta, I end up having breakfast at the Flying Biscuit. The Oatmeal Pancakes are out of this world. It is pretty small and the tables are close to each other, but the food is just delicious. My wife tells me that the western omelette is delicious. This a neighborhood gem; and be prepared for a long wait to be seated.

I've been waiting for months to get a great vegan breakfast and had planned on going to Dolce. Unfortunately, they were closed for remodeling. Flying biscuit was great for the few vegan options they had. I went with the tofu scramble wroth a side of fruit. All the baked goods look amazing but none were safe for food allergy me.

We were traveling on New Years Day. We stopped here and were not disappointed! All four of us had something different and every meal was delicious! Best Southern food and sweet tea. Excellent service!

You don't want to miss this one! We were on our way to the IMAX showing of Jerusalem just around the corner and discovered the Flying Biscuit quite by accident. They'll make you wait outside until a table opens up and once in, you are surrounded by a crazy, eclectic mix of sounds, colors, kitsch, and FOOD! Even the servers seem to add to the zany atmosphere with their style of dress, body art and, in some cases, hair colors that don't occur in nature! But, the FOOD is the thing! Oh, the food! The biscuits don't actually "fly"....they are fluffy, yes...but FAR too big to be aerodynamic in any sense. The folks in the kitchen have perfected the egg as well. Perfectly prepared, served at the perfect temperature. And the cheese grits are a MUST! Even if you "don't like" grits...really, you have to have these! And everything we tried from French toast to bacon, to their homemade chicken sausage was heavenly. Don't miss this one!

Went here Sunday morning around 8am for breakfast. It was my first time and I will definitely be back. I had the Piedmont Omelette with chicken sausage and pork bacon. It came with grits and a biscuit. When I tell you those grits were so buttery and creamy. They were better then the biscuit. The Apple cranberry jelly was my second favorite. I was so pleasantly surprised to find out they sell it so I had to buy a jar. Kenya our server was so nice and very funny.

Prior to departing from ATL we enjoyed lunch. Our guest from Houston suggested we dine here since he heard about it in Houston! Service was professional and outstanding. They readily rectified a couple of errors with perfection. I wholeheartedly enjoyed the Not Your Mamas Pimento and Cheese. Great eclectic decor with many menu options and friendly atmosphere.

The original Flying Biscuit was started by three gals around 1994 ish , who were always involved in quality, etc. Delia the last survivor of the trio sold to a franchise. I went with friends who went with me in the old days....Disappointed with food....stay away.

I grieved to see the original location close. Decor in the new place is similar, but lacks some of the boho charm that the old place had. I know why they abandoned it; limited seating capacity and limited kitchen size. Still, though, that place had a lot of history and memories. My kids are in their thirties, and we used to bring them there when they still needed booster seats. Flying Biscuit is a large chain now; it seems like they could have afforded to leave the original restaurant as is was, rather than sacrifice it to the possibility of a little more profit. Food is still good. Wait staff is still great, as always. No complaints there. The coffee, though...there's a thing that a lot of restaurants do with coffee in order to cut costs: they buy the cheapest stuff they can, but over-roasted (read "burned") in order to cover it up. Starbucks did that; they used to have a really interesting, nutty house blend years ago, but went the burnt cheap route in order to cut costs and increase profit. Unfortunately, the criticism about the coffee extends to their espresso (and by extension, to their espresso drinks) as well. In short, some of the spirit of the original place remains...but I have to wonder about the current owners and what directions they will take from this point.

I was very disappointed that The Flying Biscuit Cafe did not use free range eggs or organic ingredients.

I was in Atlanta for training and one of our group was from the Philadelphia area and was not familiar with southern biscuits, pimento cheese and other southern food delights. We gave her a proper introduction to these foods along with peaches, apple sauce and pickled okra at the Flying Biscuit. I was pleased with the variety of the menu, I wasn't in the mood for breakfast food and was glad to see a good variety of other choices. The restaurant does not have a full bar, but does serve wine, beer and other wine based mixed drinks (mimosas etc) The BBQ glazed salmon I ordered was well cooked, fresh and tasty. The service was great. We all enjoyed our dinners.

Whenever we visit our daughter in Atlanta we are sure to either make a stop or get take-out from the Flying Biscuit. Their biscuits are truly the best, especially when served with their cranberry apple butter. We take home a dozen fo the biscuits and a tub of their apple butter to enjoy later. Delicious! My favorite on the menu is the shrimp and grits. My husband’s favorite is B&G. Because the Flying Biscuit can be very busy, we often get take-out. That’s especially enjoyable for a special Sunday morning breakfast. Highly recommended!! Bon appetit, Foodies.

Stopped here on a whim traveling through ATL and could not have been happier!!! Excellent mix of flavorful options for Mom and Dad and basics for our very picky kids (ages 11, 13, and 15:-) Piedmont Omelet subbed with goat cheese was fantastic, flat iron steak got a thumbs up from all of us, biscuits were huge and yummy...I could go on. Everyone left full and satisfied!!! Don't know what moon dust is but it tastes great. 11-yr-old said the vibe is HAPPY - we'll be back to try all the things we wanted to try.

I went for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30 or 1. There was a wait of about 20 minutes, but it wasn't too bad at all. We waited in the bakery portion of the business and purchased cookies and muffins while we waited.....all of which were divine!!! I got the Coca-Cola BBQ glazed Salmon with Mashed potatoes and green beans. This dish came with a side salad and biscuit. the biscuit was excellent but was drier and less salty than other biscuits in the south, but was a great change as a result. They used the same split biscuits for the peach shortcake for dessert as well which was simply but very good and flavorful. Lastly we got a side order of Mac and Cheese that was grilled. We got it mostly to see what "grilled" mac and cheese was. It looked almost like a grilled cheese sandwich. It was literally a ball of M&C squished down on a flat top grill. It was good and interesting but needed more cheese which I doubt the grill would have allowed for. Highly recommend.

Candler Park is a unique and independent neighborhood which represents inclusion and unity. This is the original location of The Flying Biscuit. Staff is excellent, food is delicious. All classic southern breakfast items, in additional to a creative extensive menu. The grits and rosemary potatoes are musts!

I have been to 3 Flying Biscuits in Atlanta. This was my favorite one. I am from out of town and I liked this location best because of the neighbourhood, and the "feel". The building and the staff are fun and funky (style not smell LOL) Food is great as always and as always...if you go on a weekend...be prepared for a wait. There were 12 of us so our wait was even longer. Friendly service, great food.

First timer. She recommended it. Food, service and prices all great. Grits are a MUST!!!! FANTASTIC!

My daughter and I enjoyed our food. My husband who is very picky I had a different opinion. He was not impressed with his bacon, eggs, grits and biscuits. He did not like creamy grits or pecan butter. He sent the grits back and got a cup of fruit. We will leave him at home next time.

Met my family for Brunch. Love their biscuits and gravy. They have great sausage and they also serve gluten free which is important for my grandkids. They have all kind of stuff including breakfast bowls or you can get you regular eggs bacon etc...You can't go wrong everything is delicious. Give them a try if you love Biscuits too!

I live near this original location of The Flying Biscuit, so I've sampled their food off and on since they first opened, and since they became a local chain. It has changed, become a little more predictable, since becoming a chain, but if you want healthy options and delicious biscuits, this is still the place to go. I had my favorite entree, 'Love Cakes' which are cakes made from black beans, herbs cornmeal and a binder, like egg, and topped with sour cream and salsa. Very tasty, especially with the house salad and a biscuit to complete the meal. I'll keep coming back for this meal.

This place is a well-known Atlanta gem. The restaurant and bakery are sure to satisfy every ounce of hunger with delicious breakfast options. They offer many healthier choices to the usual menu of the South like oatmeal pancakes (Yum!).

Don't let the ugly decor of this old place deter you. The food is awesome! Particularly the grits. You will be pleased.

Awesome food, great coffee, exceptional wall art and good service leading to an exceptional dining experience. It is a must for any foodie, there are so many unique items in their menu. I didn't like the wait though.

We visited this very unique, eclectic cafe and enjoyed our breakfast very, very much. The staff and surroundings give it a really cool vibe and neighborhood feel. We loved the biscuits and the grits are truly dreamy. The lunch menu looks intriguing and we hope to be back to give it a try.

The Flying Biscuit is a great little cafe my husband and I visited with friends enroute to the airport. I selected the "Very Berry Chicken Salad" that comes with grilled chicken, fresh strawberries, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, feta cheese, organic field greens with homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I opted to forgo the feta. It was a very large salad and with my favorite dressing that I always tell people is like candy on a salad! So good. I would go back just for that. They have an extensive menu, and the "Biscuit Pot Pie" that one of our friends had was delicious also, so maybe next time...Another enjoyable aspect of this cafe is the the decor: brightly painted walls, decorated tables and the exterior of the building is purple; my favorite color. I highly recommend this stylish cafe.

Great breakfast with awesome grits and biscuits. The wait for breakfast on the weekend is long but worth the wait. Get the High Flyer breakfast with oatmeal pancake.

Actually found this place just searching the map for a quick place to grab lunch between the museum stops on our quick trip to Atlanta. Being in a small older (appearing at least) suburb, curbside parking was limited, but it was worth it. The food was unique, and very good. The kids were a little confused since it wasn't your typical burger joint, but they played it safe and got breakfast for lunch. We all left satisfied. Will definitely keep this place in mind when in Atlanta again. - Ron

I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was not edible with gristle and not medium rare. I have had some bad steak before but I can tell you this was the worst I have ever had at any restaurant. They made it very difficult to complain and get a refund. I’m with the majority of the complaints I would not ever go here again.

The very best biscuits and grits ever. Creamy grits are incredible. Had the Piedmont omelette and it was awesome. My new favorite breakfast place ever. Just wish we had a terrific place like this in upstate NY where I live.

We really had a good time there my wife and I. From the warmly welcome at the door to the table where we enjoyed our breakfast. Been a little curious never hurt try it.

I love their biscuits! They have a great variety for vegetarians and they're dishes are very tasty. This is great place for brunch!

This was our first visit here, but it definitely will not be our last! We arrived around 11am on a Saturday, and had to wait about 15 minutes, which was completely reasonable. After being seated, our server came promptly and was very friendly. We ordered the black bean cakes with eggs, salsa verde and sour cream, and the standard breakfast. Both dishes were fantastic, full of flavor, and piping hot from the kitchen. I don't like grits, but they were pretty phenomenal!

Are you tired of all the unsupervised kids at Decatur restaurants? Come here for dinner! Everyone knows it's an institution for breakfast and brunch and the biscuits are out of this world. Check out the homegrown meals of chicken pot pie, turkey meatloaf, turkey pot roast, and the best flat iron steak for $12 anywhere. The best mac n cheese. It's comes out flat like a hash brown. Perfecto because it's not all gooey. Love this part of Candler Park. Fun funky ole house with art all over the walls

Nice atmosphere, cheery murals deck the walls, friendly staff, very good service. Mostly quiet, good to do a little work or read a book on a weekday, except for an occasional child. Lots of families.

We stopped here as our first dining experience in the US at the start of a road trip. Didn't dissapoint, brilliant food, great service, overall nice place to be.

I've been to this location on many occasions. It's always delicious even if you do have a short wait sometimes. The grits are worth writing home about!! The atmosphere is fun and the servers treat you well. A truly "must stop" for anyone visiting Atlanta.

Landed in Atlanta after a red eye flight and went in search of breakfast. My sisters and I shared the Clifton omelette and the Crab Cake Benedict. My sisters loved the grits! They even ordered an extra side. I loved the crab cake Benedict. Kenya was our server. She was friendly and helpful. The coffee was awful. All in all, this place was okay but I would not come back.

We love this place. I've been several times and never been disappointed. Don't be scared off by the line outside -- it is seemingly always super long, but the wait is very tolerable -- typically 20-30 minutes. Service inside is friendly and quick. The food is delicious. I highly recommend the French toast and legendary fish and grits (you should totally add shrimp to take it to the next level). My only beef, pun intended, is the turkey bacon which is served limp. This is a common problem among restaurants so I'm not singling Flying Biscuit out, just mentioning it for my turkey bacon lovers. All in all, this is a great restaurant and we will keep coming back!

Quick and cozy. Reminded me a lot of the little hole in the wall restaurants from New Orleans, which was nice because its home. Home made comfort food that myself, husband and friends thoroughly enjoyed.

where locals go....fabulous omelettes, the oatmeal pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Coffee kept coming freshly brewed. Do not miss this good breakfast spot in Atlanta! good prices too!

Cute, funky restaurant. Great service and breakfast all day. Absolute best grits ever. Live up to the name- creamy dreamy grits. Mimosa was large and very good and coffee was excellent. Had the Southern Benedict. Good but I will try something different next time.

I was here for the first time in 2007, when in Atlanta for a conference. I found this place doing searches for places to eat. My cousin, a native, had never heard of it. We went and enjoyed it (ate the Clifton omelet with moon dust potatoes). Flash forward, Sept 2014, my husband and I are in Atlanta for the weekend. Sunday breakfast is at The Flying Biscuit, memory served us well, it was great. He had the Biscuit, Sausage and Gray with the moon dust potatoes. He loved it! I had the Flat Iron Steak and Eggs, over medium. It was perfect. I ordered the creamy dreamy grits. Normally, I like cheese grits, but these are perfect! I ate the whole bowl, well except for the couple of bites I shared with my husband. He loved them too (high compliments from a Yankee). Now for the star of the show...the biscuit. I love them, especially with butter and the housemade cranberry apple butter. There is not a better way to start your day. Mugs of coffee just made in perfect. Not sure when we will be back in Atlanta, but I am sure, we'll have breakfast here.

I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was good and portions were just right! I must say I had never heard of eggs with collard greens but it was delicious. We would definitely go back.

Our family got together for breakfast at this colorful and fun looking restaurant. The menu was rather creative, with plenty of choices for breakfast. We were not disappointed! Eggs, Turkey Bacon, Grits, Mexican combination, Moon sprinkled potatoes, Biscuits, Oatmeal. The ambiance was great and the pricing was not expensive. Make reservations, as it got very busy to get a table. Strong Recommendation.

Flying Biscuit never fails to please! My favorite is Eggseptional eggs but everyone had something different at our table and it was all delicious.

What a fun experience my family and I had at the flying biscuit! I was a little skeptical when my mom suggested a "organic" and "vegan" type restaurant but the food was excellent and I wish I still lived in Atlanta so I could eat there more often! The whole restaurant itself is very fun and playful with lots of fun paintings on the wall, colorful plates, and I'm pretty sure I saw some biscuits with wings hanging from the ceiling. And then our waitress was very energetic and helped guide us through the ordering process with suggestions and answering questions we had about the menu. The food was then very delicious and brought out relatively fast. I got a peach type mimosa that was both sweet and sparkling that I would recommend to mimosa lovers! Our family got a wide variety of food from biscuits and gravy (with eggs and fruit), omelets, "moon dusted" potatoes, sausages and pancakes with peach compote. I HIGHLY recommend getting (or at least someone at the table) one of the famous biscuits. They are light and fluffy and are delicious on their own, with butter, jam, gravy, or whatever else your heart desires. But honestly, everything else we ate was just as great so you really can't go wrong with whatever you order in my opinion. By the end of the meal we were stuffed and there was even a card at the table that helped us get 10$ off when we tried a new app (open table I think?). And once your finished your nicely placed in the little five points area for some nice sight-seeing :]

Heard about this one well before going there. Visiting Atlanta from Indianapolis and our son, who lives in Kirkwood, scouts out the locations before we visit them. This is is a bit above average, but could do a little better on the customer service. Food was good, reached us promptly, but there was just not the specialness that one wishes to receive from a local, neighborhood location. Will go back again in the future, though.

I went with a friend of mine and the atmosphere was really nice. The food was absolutely delicious. There was nothing that we ordered that wasn't good. The biscuit was absolutely perfect and the cranberry apple cinnamon jam went perfectly with thr biscuit. The servings were a really good size as well. We left stuffed. I would definitely recommend visiting here.

Excellent southern style breakfast/brunch! Personell is very courteus, patient and helpful with customers that are not accustomed with the food they offer. Their eggs are always cooked to perfection, and they serve the most wonderful grits ever!

Great healthy food!! And the grits with the white cheddar chesse are to die for .👌 I will definitely be back..

On the busy July 4th holiday morning, we were told there was a 30 minute wait. That was fine, because they have a carry out area right next door. So my party of 3 sat down on one of the cute little benches and I went and grabbed us some coffee at the carry out. I think the girl's name was Sade, she was busy on the phone taking an order, but was sure to let me know that she would be right with me. She was very pleasant and made my white chocolate mocha better than Starbucks! Before I was able to pay, they called us for the table. Even though it was a beautiful day and didn't mind waiting, we were very happy that the wait was much shorter than 30 minutes. We sat down at a table in the corner and our server Daren P. approached us, didn't really greet us, but did acknowledge that we already had coffee. We asked him for some waters. He came back and asked us if we needed more time. We ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer. They were excellent. The caprino cheese and cashew relish was an excellent accompaniment! Daren P. asked us if we were ready and we gave him our order. Our entrees came out in a timely fashion. I ordered the breakfast platter. It had eggs, fried potatoes and chicken sausage. I hadn't ever tasted chicken sausage before and it was great! I couldn't even tell it wasn't pork. My scrambled eggs were a little over cooked. And that "moon dust" really makes the potatoes delish! My traveling companion ordered the shrimp and grits. While I was never really a grits fan, I must say that this dish may have turned me into a grits lover! They were so creamy and flavorful! I hope the next time I have grits it will measure up to my first time at The Flying Biscuit! While we were dining, I overheard the server at the table behind us advise them of the specials that day and offer the many different flavors of mimosas. I don't remember seeing mimosas on the menu, but I would have loved to try the mango one the other server was talking about! Ah well, maybe next time. But I was saddened that Darren P. didn't offer us the breakfast specials or the mimosas. And when we asked about it, he looked at us like a deer in headlights. Well, at least I know next time to order the mango mimosas after my delicious white chocolate mocha. PS. You have to try one of their homemade biscuits with the cranberry apple butter. Don't dine without it!

I was disappointed when we were seated at a tiny table near the door, especially when a single guy came in and got a table for four, and most of the better tables stayed empty while we were there. So, be sure to ask the host to re-seat you if they're not busy and you don't like your table. Then the coffee was lukewarm, but the server willingly replaced it with hot, and our food was delicious - a meggs-ican wrap plate and pork bacon with biscuit. This was reasonably priced at about $16 including one coffee. On another topic, it took me several visits to realize that if the obvious restroom is taken, one can go up the ramp to find a second one that's more likely to be available.

We waited for a table around 11:30am on a Monday. We sat and ordered a giant burger (with an egg on it), shrimp and grits, a "breakfast bowl" with eggs, fried green tomatoes, turkey bacon and grits and a chicken pot pie. I've had better biscuits but everything was good. They give you A LOT of food so be prepared. The server was friendly and attentive.

I wanted to try everything on the menu. Finally decided on one the the breakfast entrees, can't wait to to back.

First came here with some friends after a shift at work. As a brand new grits eater at the time, the heavenly grits were beyond heavenly. After having the grits from Flying Biscuit, you will never think of grits the same way ever again. I am not exaggerating. The biscuits are supposed to be really good too with the apple butter but to be honest I do not care for it. This location also has a bakery which I suggest you check out. Their coconut scones are a must try!

I visited my first time with a friend.I was so happy to get my food and eat delicious. So I had to treat my mom the second time.Make sure you order the award winning 🏆 shrimp and grits. This is gourmet at its finest.Go try it out for yourself.

The atmosphere is artsy and cool; the staff will make you fall in love ....they are friendly and attentive. Justin O was our servicer and was just a jewel to have! I had an amazing time; chief was a joy and you can taste the love. I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, the meatloaf sandwich and the exceptional eggs.. OMG! YOU MUST GO!

Given my gluten-free diet, there are not many places or options I find on the road to dine for breakfast. This restaurant was a welcome treat! Besides the usual breakfast items, it offered amazing healthy alternatives like the oatmeal pancakes topped with sweet Georgia peaches -- amazing! Drag yourself out of bed and go get a tasty start to a healthy day.

On a busy Sunday at about 1 p.m., this restaurant was poorly prepared. The wait wasn't bad (about 15 minutes). Once seated, we had to go hunting for our server. Hostess brought us coffee and soft drinks...no cream , no silverware. Placed our food order, kitchen was understaffed so it took 30 minutes for food to arrive. Do NOT order the hamburger. It looked like 2 partial patties sort of put together like a jigsaw puzzle to resemble a quality burger...overdone, no flavor. Bun was cold, like it had just escaped the freezer or refrigerator. Only toppings were tomato and romaine lettuce (only a few days after another CDC advisory against eating romaine lettuce). My Coca Cola bbq chicken burrito was better than the burger, but not sure why "bbq" is part of the description since it did not have any bbq flavor. Side of collard greens was very tasty and the coffee was quite good. There are a lot of good sounding dishes on their menu, but execution was lacking. If you dine at this restaurant, perhaps you should stick to the breakfast offerings. Also, the restaurant looked dirty, especially the kitchen. This restaurant is part of chain. A visit by the franchiser would be in order here. Won't be going back.

We have been there before, but later in the day. This time we went to breakfast and it was great! Tasty eggs, bacon, phenomenal biscuits and the oh, so creamy grits. Service was relaxed but attentive. We were not disappointed.

I have a love hate relationship with the Flying Biscuit. I've been eating at the Flying Biscuit and it's various locations for more than 20 years. In the early years, it was fantastic. Over time, the restaurant was sold and the food quality dropped. I stopped going altogether. But after a recent visit, I'll plan to go back from time to time. Food quality was pretty good. I had the Hollywood Omelet for breakfast and it was fine. This is a regular menu item they have carried for years. I prefer goat cheese to cheddar and they handled my request. Service was relaxed but reasonably attentive and friendly. The biscuit was good - as always. In the past I have found a lot of variation across the Flying Biscuit locations. I avoided the Midtown location even though it's closer to home. The Candler Park location is the original - an old standby and the best one to visit in my book. Count on crowds and waits on the weekends for brunch. But the food is pretty good and worth a visit.

Light to heavy, savory to sweet, this is the original and best. Part owned by Little 5 Points Folk geniuses Indigo Girls this authentic hippie piece of Dixie sweetness has rustic charm from oaty pancakes to fried green tomatoes to turkey hash. Great other meals as well, dizzying, eclectic menu from vegan to steak. Not to be missed.

My neice & I went to the Flying Biscuit on December 20, 2018, it was pouring rain outside. She's 5 months pregnant & hurriedly went inside to the bathroom. While I'm much older took my time to ensure I don't fall. No one was outside for seating, so I walked inside to the counter area. You don't get seated unless your full party is there, so I was sent back outside,in the rain to wait. The place is packed & this joint can't afford awning that extends past soaked chairs for patrons to sit/wait. I was done. My neice exited the bathroom & we were seated. Their biscuit was raw dough, pork bacon great, grits excellent, wheat pancake good and cranberry juice a bad sugar attack. Overall, I was done standing in the rain because of wet chairs.

The flying biscuit is my go to Atlanta breakfast spot. Come here every chance I can. The service is as consistently great as is the food. I love the atmosphere and the surrounding area.

I am very keen on having breakfast at Flying Biscuit Cafe. This time we were at the one at Candler Park. As usual, the breakfast were awesome. The service was impeccable. Their coffee is always good 😊

I've only ever had breakfast at this spot, going back to the late 90s. It used to be emblematic of all that made the Candler Park neighborhood so unique and fun, but now it's just looking tired, run down and shabby. For a very good rating my eggs should have been a bit less runny and my biscuit a bit less ordinary. And turkey bacon should just be banished from face of the earth altogether. My server was delightful.

I recently had breakfast at the Flying Biscuit Café and it was my first time. My friend and I really enjoyed the food. For the first time in my life I ordered "Green Fried Tomatoes". I had low expectations because how good could green tomatoes possibly taste. Great apparently. I was utterly surprised. I also ordered the Flying Biscuit Breakfast, which was large, tasty and all in all fantastic. I knew from previous experience that I am not fan of grits, but I ordered it because I was in the South. The grits was good and tasted even better after I put some sugar in. The service was excellent. The only thing I would change is: I would have loved outdoor seating, but I am sure that Southerners probably would not like to sit in the heat while having breakfast.

We stopped after a friend suggested eating here. In the south you expect great food and lots of it. We were not disappointed, I loved the bacon and the grits. Not everyone knows how to fix grits, but these were great. We had the pimento cheese for an appetizer and it was the best.

I guess there really isn't a reason I gave it only 4 stars, because everything my wife and I had was very good. We would definitely go back again.

Went with my family on a lazy Saturday morning while visiting Atlanta. The place was highly recommended by my family who have lived in Atlanta for over 20 years. This place is known for the biscuits, which are great, but they are of the dense variety. If you get a heavy breakfast along with the biscuits it's definitely nappy time afterwards. This place is know for great traditional breakfasts but they also get creative with ingredients. Sometimes it works like the blueberry pancakes and apple butter (or also blueberry French toast bread) other times it was just meh....like my two eggs with salsa and fried green tomatoes all piled on cheesy, creamy grits (which they are also known for). But overall the food was good for their stars. The fourth star is for the neighborhood ambience of the original Candler Park location. We got there at 930am and by 10 the line was out the door. This unfortunately caused us to have to wait about 30 minutes between when we ordered and when we got our breakfast. But our waiter kept warming our coffee and did his best. Needless to say, after this heavy meal I did not need to eat again until dinner. Hard to go wrong with a meal here but time your visit to avoid peak times (which google actually maps for you with a graph).

A great people watching kind of place. Never know who will cross your path. Great food combinations. Clifton omelette is my fav for brunch. Cool beans! Kimy at Cocktails at Seven -a happy blog

We came for take out and the service was amazing! The creamy dreamy grits WERE creamy and dreamy... Wow, so amazing! The food was so good. As well, we had left a pair of sunglasses and the server came and found us in our car!! Amazing service. I'd give it 10 stars if i could.

Now don't get me wrong the food was tasty, and while the service was expedient it was a little cold in Southern terms. Not once did anyone ask me about my Momma and them. It was strictly business. As a solo I luckily avoided the line and was seated immediately at the counter. There I ordered the Biscuit, Eggs, and Gravy which is an open-faced biscuit, topped with two scrambled eggs and smothered with chicken sausage gravy. Ok, I'm purely nitpicking here, but the biscuit was a tad underdone with a slight doughy taste. The eggs were more fried than a fluffy scramble, and the chicken sausage gravy lacked the savory flavor only pork sausage can provide. Some sage would have gone a long way. Still it's worth the visit.

I have eaten from here before but had never been to the location. Only complaint was there wasn't a lot of parking space but other than that food was very good and service was fast and friendly!

I nice and not too serious take on updating southern food. Tried the pimento loaf and thought it tasty. Loved the combination of feta and pimentos. My friends shrimp and grits were really nice and I loved the Love Cakes which were sort of grits and beans with tomatillo salsa. They had a limited wine list too--6 bottles. Really a fun neighborhood cafe

We took in this restaurant while on vacation. The way they tweak the southern dishes is to die for. My Texas teenagers said this may be the best place they had ever eaten. I couldn't argue too much either.

I love that the candler park location has a "to go" shop located next door, but the service is always really slow. And I only go on weekdays when it's not as busy as the weekends. I have no clue why it takes so long, but it seems like it would be faster to be served at a table. Nice selection of to-go cookies and muffins, along with the offerings everyone knows and loves from Flying Biscuit: grits and biscuits! I love love love the grits bowl with chicken sausage and eggs, but it's not offered at evry location (tried to get it at the midtown one and no go). Parking can be tricky here, but it's a nice walking neighborhood, so look for a spot on the street. Great window shopping nearby if you go to the restaurant and there is a wait.

Open more than 20 years. Food is a little too Southern for my tastes, too much salt, oil, and sugar. The biscuits are heavy. That said, the food is tasty and filling. Good people watching.

I have eaten here a couple of times and you can tell that they use high quality ingredients to make their food. They don't skimp on anything. I usually have some kind of breakfast omelette or something and it's so much food. And the spread they give you to go with the biscuit is delicious!

Had breakfast at about 10:00 am on a Sunday. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for a table (there were five of us) and I'm glad we did. Everything on menu looked great. Dear Husband had the Flyer, and eggs were cooked perfectly. The chicken sausage is good and lean. I had the oatmeal pancakes, son had biscuits and gravy, his date had the chicken pot pie and the 4 year old had French Toast. We also ordered a Red Velvet pancake to share. Every thing was warm, fresh and good. Generous servings, great coffee. In an older house, the walls are all bright with murals. The little one was very hungry and our waitress was good enough to give her a biscuit with jam to tide her over! Thank you Anika!

I have never had a bad meal at The Flying Biscuit Cafe-Candler. I have sat in the front, the side, the back, and even at the bar. I am always satisfied with a great meal! The Mimosa are to die for....anytime. It's a great place to start a birthday for breakfast, meet a friend for brunch, or treat out of town guest for the weekend!

The service wasn’t that great but the food made up for it! The biscuits and grits were definitely the highlight...the “moon potatoes” were tasty but a little starchy because they were undercooked. My boyfriend got the oatmeal pancake that was a little dense but overall the food was delicious!

I've been to this Flying Biscuit many times and I keep coming back for two reasons: the grits and the biscuits (of course). The creamy grits are like no others and the biscuits have that touch of sweetness that makes them delicious. The decor is quirky in a neighborhood way and the service is always great. Flying Biscuit in Candler Park is an Atlanta institution. If you're in the part of town, don't miss it.

When I moved to Atlanta three years ago, everybody talked about the flying biscuit as the place to eat for brunch. I've eaten breakfast here a couple times and as well as dinner. After waiting over an hour to get a seat in a very small dining room with sticky tabletops, we had brunch. The food was what you would expect for brunch place, with large portions, lots of syrup and butter. I didn't seeing anything interesting or inspired about the food. The quality is good. The decor is decent. And as for the biscuits, 'cmon people, they're just dense lumps of dough. I think there are much better brunch places than this, and without the wait

I am so happy that I tried Flying Biscuit. It was so worth it. I loved the vegetarian options. Yum yum.

My daughter and I were seated as soon as we arrived on a Sunday morning around 9:30. Others in larger parties were waiting for tables. It was hard to make a choice because everything on the menu looked so good! My daughter had the French toast and I got the High Flyer, which includes eggs, grits, pancake, biscuit, sausage. A lot of food! Our waiter was friendly and efficient. No complaints there. But the dining room is so tightly packed that the tiny pathways cannot be navigated, especially if any patrons stop to talk to people they know, blocking the aisle.

This charming place has the best food in town. The breakfast is something you will crave long after your done. Customer service is excellent and the servers are so kind and go above and beyond. Take a stroll around the neighborhood after. Chandler Park is a lovely place to spend an afternoon.

Had the St. Patrick's Day off so my wife and I decided to go to Atlanta to the original Flying Biscuit in Candler Park. I been going there since it opened and the service , food and atmosphere have remained the same, still excellent! I have always gone there specifically for breakfast with their famous biscuits and signature breakfast foods , very wholesome and quality products, but this time it was just before the lunch and decided to try their award winning Shrimp & Grits. The server " Patrick " was awesome , some might say he was a saint the way he attended to all our needs giving us excellent service. The food came out in about 15 minutes and looked fabulous, the shrimp & grits were delicious and creamy and the shrimp were of high quality and perfectly cooked. My wife had the BBQ salmon and was also perfect.! So I know the breakfast are awesome but don't be scared to try their other signature dishes, you won't be disappointed!

We visited during the week for brunch so wasn't very busy. The waiter was very nice. We had biscuits and gravy with grits. So good! The restaurant has an eclectic vibe. Will visit again.

The reviews of The Flying Biscuit Cafe enticed us with their breakfast-all-day, but little did we know that the original location would be such a good choice. The “decor” is eclectic, bohemian-ish, with funky pictures like flying biscuits and other fun graphics on the walls. This place feels like a neighborhood cafe and the food will certainly not disappoint. I’m really picky about biscuits, being mostly disappointed by restaurant style southern biscuits. These biscuits were very good and I would definitely go back just for them. The oatmeal pancakes were delicious too!

Let's skip to the chase: between the food, atmosphere, and staff this location is one of my favorite road trip stops I have ever made. There was a short 30 minute wait, but it was worth it. The staff is very chill. My wife and ended up discussing comics with my waiter which prompted a visit from another staff who is part of the culture as well who introduced himself and talked with us briefly. The food was phenomenal. My wife got the Benedict while I stayed more traditional with the high flyer. I wish I had gotten adventurous though. Definitely recommend for families and couples, maybe not larger groups but it could probably be accommodated.

We ate at this location years ago and have been talking about it ever sense. We could not wait to visit again since we were in town and it did not disappoint. Quirky atmosphere which is wonderful, the biscuits are a mile tall and very moist inside which is hard to do. The creamy grits are very rich so take your time enjoying these with your breakfast. LOVE this place. If you are in Atlanta this is a must place to go if you are out for an adventure.

My husband and I went for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant has a nice location. We had about a 15 minute wait to be seated so we looked at some vendors located outside who had some nice items. The restaurant has a cute eclectic decor. I enjoyed the Biscuit Pot Pie and my husband loved his biscuits with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs and grits. The grits were amazing-super creamy and tasty! Our server was great with an awesome friendly personality and excellent service.

The place was packed! The wait was 45 minutes but across the street was a market to browse through. After the wait, we were seated, waited on and served in a timely manner. The good was awesome and worth the money. The prices were superb!

The Flying Biscuit has quirky vibe to it and some tasty food. The service is subpar. I have been here more then once this past month and both times the service was slow/forgetful. Slow in greeting, seating, taking your order, and giving the bill. Forgetful with straws, napkins, to go boxes, and drink refills. I absolutely love the grits, but from now on I'll just call ahead for take out.

When you're from the North, you can't go to the South and not try biscuits and gravy! And this is a great place to try them for the first time! This was the only thing I got and I was stuffed! But it was worth it! The service was great as well! This was a fantastic way to end my long weekend in Atlanta!

I was visiting a friend in Atlanta and this was my first meal there- and it was awful! We originally had planned to eat inside, but the wait was really long and the inside seemed really dingy and crowded, so we were happy to order and take our food to go. To order food to go, you go next door to a room that smells like dirty mops. We took our food home and I was super disappointed. The chicken was dry and the waffles were not crispy at all. I have no idea why there was a line of people waiting to eat here. I certainly hope Atlanta offers better Southern Breakfast than this somewhere else!

I've had grits in the past and not liked them, but these were incredible. I definitely recommend one of the bowls with your choice of meat, eggs, cheese and grits.

My spouse and I visited this restaurant during a recent trip to Atlanta. The interior has some interesting murals. The staff were courteous and attentive to our needs. My spouse ordered one of the omelettes and I ordered the devil burger (a vegetarian burger made of grains mixed with vegetables, topped with jalapeno sauce). The burger was quite good. The grains give the burger a nice crunchy texture. The omelette was also good. Overall, this seems like an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch. The Candler Park location is particularly well-suited for a nicely leisurely walk in the park after your meal.

Service was horrible! Ordered ice water, received no ice. Ordered cheese on my daughter's burger, no cheese. Ordered sweet tea, received unsweetened. Waitress asked if we would like a straw, we replied yes, she never returned. Received our food and had no utensils to eat it with. Had to wait awhile for someone to come around to finally ask for some, it certainly wasn’t our waitress. My husband's chicken was rock hard, dry and flavorless. It was ridiculous watching him try to cut into his meat. The "Moon" potatoes which are supposed to be grilled and dusted with a special seasoning, tasted like they came from a TV dinner tray. I choked on each bite. These are usually my favorite kind of potatoes. The "grilled" macaroni was inedible, tasted more like non-stick spray casserole. Extremely disappointed. The floor was filthy and bathroom needed attention. I slipped and nearly fell near the kitchen which is right near the bathroom. I was actually quite excited when my husband picked this place for brunch as I'm a breakfast eater and he's not. The vibe was very unique and we were excited for a good meal. However, even my teenager commented that the vibe would have been better if the restaurant was cleaner. On a positive note, the grits were awesome! The French Toast with Vanilla cream was awesome, the greens and burger were also great. I enjoyed the biscuit once drenched in butter. Without butter it was too dry. Our waitress was awful. She never refilled the drinks and threw the check on the end of the table just shortly after we received our food without saying a word or asking if we wanted anything else. We never complained, I don't feel it would have done any good as I couldn't even tell who worked there or who didn't. There was no designated parking and we drove around for nearly 15 minutes looking for a place to park. We will certainly not be returning customers and were very disappointed in this find.

Charming café in Candler Park area, that has served up good food for so long that there are many new locations! The wait time is very long, parking is difficult, but I would say it is worth it if you are looking for something different. My only criticism is that the food portions are too large. Also, not a friendly place for meat lovers (turkey bacon, etc.). Great service, and very friendly staff!

I was very excited to visit this place, as I'd heard such high praise for it. It's definitely attractively funky enough, with an imaginative menu. However, it doesn't quite deliver. The biscuit creation that I ordered -- an Oven Fried Green Tomato BLT -- was pretty tasty, but somehow unsatisfying. (Honestly, I can't quite put my finger on why I was dissatisfied, I just ... was.) The muffin I got -- Cream Cheese and Carrot -- was wonderful, and if I go again, I'll stick to the muffins. Which is kind of sad, if you think about it; I mean, if you're going to a place with "biscuit" in its name, shouldn't its biscuits be superior, to-die-for? The reason I may not return: Service. Oh, my friends and I went at a busy time, and I understand all about having to wait when the staff is completely swamped. That said, when I asked the server to please check our orders (I was ordering a take-out for a friend) she got very testy with me ... and here's me, trying to be nice, I didn't check the order myself and consequently my friend got shorted on his order. Understanding how to behave when a restaurant is slammed is not all on the customer -- the service personnel need to check attitudes as well. When you're pressured, trying to both cook and fill orders, it's going to be even easier to make a little mistake, so if a customer asks you to double-check your work, don't get offended. Obviously, my request to check the order was well-founded. So, since there are plenty of places to grab a bite in Atlanta, and there was nothing compelling about The Flying Biscuit for me, I probably will remember the unenthusiastic service and will choose to dine elsewhere next time.

Visited this place while staying with family in the area. Great food served fast. Awesome atmosphere.

Outstanding breakfast! Went to meet a friend for a bunch at a place she swore by. She wasn't wrong! It's a cozy location on a corner. Street parking is your friend or your enemy. Service is quick and prompt, with a smile. The menu... it's almost overwhelming! SO many good choices, from organic oatmeal pancakes to your standard eggs and bacon. We both got something they call the "eggs-travaganza." The dish is way better than the name. It's really a sampler: two eggs any style, a bowl of "creamy dreamy grits" (more below), sausage, turkey bacon (more below) and french toast (more below)! I am a lifelong Texan, so I didn't grow up on grits. TO me, they are a regional food of the south. The times I've had them, they've been good, with salt, or sugar, or cheese, depending on who I'm with. So I'm not a grits connoisseur. With that said, the grits here are THE BEST I've ever had. I didn't need to season them with anything. Seriously. Dreamy indeed. The french toast wasn't bad. It's wheat bread with a raspberry drizzle that gets your attention. There's also a vanilla creme sauce on there, but the raspberry covers it. Either way, it's delicious. The downer here is the turkey bacon. It's not the restaurant's fault, but the turkey bacon is akin the the old "sizzlean" — it's like micro-thin strips that are more like prosciutto than bacon (minus the flavor). Love this place! I would come back often. I would swap out the bacon.

In an era when restaurants come and go, there’s a reason why Flying Biscuit is beginning it’s third decade in Atlanta. The food and service are consistently good as evidenced by the dozens of “Best of” awards that cover the walls. You can get breakfast any time, they’re open 7am to 10pm 7 days a week. The breakfast menu is extensive; my favorite is the Salmon Scramble and the Organic Oatmeal Pancakes are a hearty and delicious way to start (or end) your day. Of course the biscuits are great but don’t miss out on their lunch and dinner options…plan to visit more than once. The Shrimp and Grits are worth a special trip! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun with whimsical murals of sunflowers on the walls and winged biscuits on the ceiling. You’ll leave happy with a full belly and a smile on your face. If you just want to grab something quick their adjacent bakery provides goodies from an abbreviated menu. Be aware the bakery is open during peak hours.

Went here with locals and couldn't have been better. Excellent black bean cakes, coffee, biscuits, eggs, grits, homemade everything. We didn't need to eat again until dinner :)

When I moved to Atlanta, Gato Bizco was the first greasy spoon I nursed a hangover in. As my eyes began to focus and my need to stare straight down into my coffee abated, I noticed a long line of bland people standing across McClendon. It was for Flying Biscuit. My friend warned me (she'd had 18 months in Atlanta on me) it was not worth the wait, or even the time to go in if there were no line. Well, one fine Monday I was in desperate need of something hot and greasy (too much sacramental wine at worship, I suppose) and Gato Bizco was closed. I succumbed to my need for immediate caffeine and bacon, and entered Flying Biscuit since there was no line of zombies in the way. Servers were nice enough but terribly slow. Food was vile. The biscuits were like powdered vomit, compressed into the shape of a tall-boy cow patty... Eggs were cold. Hash browns were soggy and obliterated with some sort of seasoning salt. Bacon was pre-cooked and super greasy, like from a buffet at Golden Corral.

We stopped in for breakfast when we were in town and it was great! The biscuits are delicious and both of our entrees were great. The coffee (I ordered the sledgehammer!!) was spot on too. Worth a visit for sure!

This is #1 of two places I MUST take EVERYONE that visits me. The food is so good, and the atmosphere is like an indoor patio experience...very relaxed; casual dining. It's a small place but the taste of their menu items are huge. I personally recommend the Smoked Salmon Scramble w/grits and add a side of gravy OR The Shrimp and grits. They have a bakery attached, but the one thing I know you're going want to take some to go are the grits. If your going on a week end around 10am-2pm prepare for a line with a 20 minute wait.

I always get the same thing when I come here... The Shrimp and Grits with a salad. The dressing on the salad is so good. Don't forget to get the Cranberry Apple butter for your biscuit!

My family and I went to Atlanta for the first time from Central Florida and were looking forward to finally eat at this restaurant, we received great service by Justin O. and the food was awesome. We cant wait to go back!

Flying biscuit had had one of Atlanta's best breakfasts and bakeries for years. Their biscuits and grits are some if the best in the south. I like the high flyer breakfast that has a sample of many if their best items. The bakery next door also has Atlanta's best cookies.

I'd never eaten at this location, but I loved it! I got the "NOT YOUR MAMA’S PIMIENTO CHEESE SANDWICH" and it was soooo good, as was the grilled macaroni and cheese. Fun atmosphere and good service!

We had a few days of amazing breakfasts here. We read the reviews and they were pretty accurate. I can recommend the chai latte. the biscuits were great, as you'd expect, the sausage gravy is fantastic. You won't leave hungry here. It's a really good price and the service is great.

I haven't written a 1-star review in a long time, but this place deserves it. Flying Biscuit was our favorite restaurant in the 90s but the founders sold out and it became a chain. It has been terrible ever since. We go back every couple of years when we're in town, hoping it will be better, but no. Our most recent visit was typical. Terrible food and incompetent service. You'd think given the name they would at least have good biscuits, but no. Honestly I have no idea why people line up for this place on Sunday mornings. So many better options within a couple of miles.

We go the the original flying biscuit in Candler Park pretty often (always in the evening, because it's ridiculous to wait in line for that place at brunch) , but they recently changed their menu, and it was average at best. First the menu is smaller. Specials are no longer listed on the front (annoying) I've always loved their salads, but I ordered one of the new ones (portabello with grilled veg) and it was only ok. Would definitely not order again. The only grilled vegetable i even saw was squash. It was vegetarian (would have been probably better with some sort of meat, maybe bacon), but their tofu and tater salad is vegetarian, and it's awesome... or at least it used to be, haven't tried it lately... Which brings me to my next point. My husband got the meatloaf. They have apparently gotten rid of the Pudge and replaced it was some bland mashed potatoes. And the meatloaf was mushy (and almost breadlike?) Not near as good as it used to be. The green beans used to be have garlic in them, they too were missing that. Plus, the food came out cold.

As always, took about 30 minutes before we were seated. Service, however, was very quick. Food was fresh and tasted excellent. Highly recommend the potatoes as a side to whatever you get.

I couldn't decide what to order, because there are too many wonderful options here. I narrowed it down between the turkey hash and eggs Benedict. Eventually, chose the latter because it included the creamy, dreamy grits as the side, as well as crispy turkey bacon. The biscuits are the most unforgettable part of the meal, but because they are smothered in pimento cheese, and sauce and egg, it all just matched up perfectly. I tell you, it's the most health-conscious unhealthy breakfast food you can find. (Joking)... Anyway, my dad and I split the fried green tomatoes to start, which came with a creamy mascarpone spread as well as some sort of sweet pine nut, jam concoction. Awesome. Get me a wheel barrow and haul me out to my car.

As the name might suggest, The Flying Biscuit has amazing biscuits and breakfast food in general. You will probably find yourself stumbling out stuffed. The grits were heavenly and the eggs cooked as ordered. Our server greeted us with Southern hospitality and was very attentive even though the restaurant was packed. It was about a 30 minute wait for brunch at noon on Sunday but there are benches outside and a take-out cafe so you can have a coffee or biscuit while you wait. Once i was seated they refilled my to-go coffee for no charge. If you don't have time for a sit down meal the cafe has full breakfast to-go.

We had brunch at what I think is the original Flying Biscuit Cafe. I always get the Meggxican Wrap and the Creamy, Dreamy Grits. You can't go wrong if you love breakfast food. I don't, but I still love to eat here.

The service was great. It has a bit of old hippie charm in a really good way. I love that there is no loud noise or music; you can actually carry on a conversation Highly recommend, would definitely eat there again.

I thought I was in for a long wait but I was seated within 10 minutes. I had the shrimp and grits, I really enjoyed my morning meal. Honestly, I was impressed with the grits. They offered a added feature to use the phone app Tabbed Out which allowed me to pay my bill on my phone at the table. I guess since this was all new, they offer $10.00 off

After reading reviews on what to order, and wanting one of each, I settled on the High Flyer. Poached eggs (you can have them your way), delicious sausage, the creamiest, best grits ever, whole wheat biscuit with their wonderful homemade apple cinnamon jam, and a sweet potato pancake that was to die for. Splurge, and let them put the nut butter right on top, so it can start melting. You will have time to remove excess if you're trying to be good. Coffee is delicious, but could be a little hotter. All in all, I give this place an A+!

Of course The Flying Biscuit does breakfast food right, but you can dine outside the box too. I had the Very Berry Chicken Salad and loved it. For under $10 you get a robust variety of textures and tastes including strawberries (in January!), nuts, goat cheese and craisins with a nice vinaigrette dressing. The décor is 1970s hippie-chic although the place hasn't been here that long. The people are friendly and laid back. Oh yeah, everyone gets a biscuit even with a salad and they are served with apple butter.

My husband & I live in West Palm Beach, FL and visit Atlanta once a year to visit friends. We started going here 3 years ago & refuse to go anywhere else.... The best grits, biscuits & gravy!!!

Good food , great service ! We wait in line to get in but it was worth it! Great food , a very tasty ! Will recommend it !

My husband hates eating there because there are not very many meat options, but my friends and I used to go at least twice a month for brunch. The decor is funky and the food is great. The creamy dreamy grits are amazing and of course the biscuits are excellent. Their bloody mary is made with sake, which is quite different. Some people really don't like it, but I found them good.

The only reason it gets 1 star is that I can't go any lower - they ruined a carefully planned Mother's Day breakfast. My children placed an order with for pickup on Sunday at 8:30 am and it was confirmed. Not only wasn't it NOT ready, they couldn't even find it! When they did find it, they said we had NO idea when it could be ready. Never coming back, never recommending. I know it is difficult in the restaurant business but this is not acceptable.

Had lunch. Had Very Berry chicken wrap (awesome) and Turkey Meatloaf (not much flavor) with yummy collard greens. Would come back and order the CocaCola BBQ Chix Burrito....

Had a wonderful breakfast here after a night of playing hard in Midtown. Food was excellent and portions large. Service was fast and friendly. This is a great breakfast and lunch spot for good food and better service. Just what we were looking for!

This was my fourth visit to Flying Biscuit Cafe at this location and it confirmed my love for this restaurant. I love the atmosphere -- from the fun, unique paintings on the walls and ceiling -- to the cozy tables. Coffee was immediately brought to our table (huzzah!) and we were able to order right away. The southern eggs Benedict was delicious, with a halved-biscuit, pimiento cheese, and poached eggs on top. Simply divine and it kept me full for the next 6 hours. Oh, and the creamy, dreamy grits. Don't forget to order them! These were the grits that taught me how delicious grits could be if you give them a chance. Yes, I will be seeking out more flying biscuits in the future and I highly recommend this place to all!

This is still our favorite breakfast place . . . pretty much in the entire world. We've been coming to the original place here on McLendon Ave. since they opened, and it is still the best: the best biscuits, the best grits and cheese grits, the best pancakes, the best coffee. You will not leave hungry, that's for sure. We don't live in Atlanta any more but we always make sure we come here for breakfast whenever we're in town. The lines go out the door on the weekends, so try to come on a week day if you can. They have a take out bakery as well, so if you can't wait for a table, stop in and get a biscuit (or whole wheat biscuit) to go with some coffee.

It's the only place I will go for grits! They actually know what to to do with their eggs! Their desserts portions, in my opinion, are a bit too generous and a bit heavy on the sugar, so keep that in mind before you order... you might want to share one! The ambiance is very unique and confortable. Personel very courteous and helpful! If you go at lunch time or on a weekend, keep in mind that partking may be a bit difficorl, but it is definately worth it, and also keep in mind that all the 'Flying Biscut Cafe' in town are NOT equal!!!

We came on recommendation from friends who lived in Atlanta 20 years ago. It was just as good as they described, and when we arrived there was a 45-minute wait. Luckily, it's a cafe and bakery! We just ducked into the bakery section where we sat at barstools and had access to the (nearly) full menu minus waitstaff - perfect. The biscuits are delicious, the muffins are sinfully rich, and we're going back soon for cinnamon rolls (my dad considers himself a connoisseur when it comes to cinnamon rolls, and he wants another one). The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere is fun and vibrant. This cafe is located in an older neighborhood in Atlanta, and right near a park, so we very much enjoyed the local atmosphere. This is a good place for breakfast- just get here before the lines!

Everyone says "Try The Flying Pig". I expected your normal chain. Not so. We were here for lunch and had Pot Pie, Fish Tacos, and Fried Tomatoes Sandwich. All were amazing. The Fried Mac & Cheese was excellent. And of course Justin was great. Will go back!!!🍛🍛🍛

The food was really good. I had scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, grits, and chicken sausage gravy/biscuit. The best watermelon/pineapple mimosa ever and orange spice tea. Hubby had a salmon scramble eggs w/grits, and a Blue Moonade...a Bluemoon beer and lemonade, refreshing! The place is quaint, tiny, small, tight, little and closet like, but the food is great!
Southern Charm in a Biscuit
I believe the name Flying Biscuit came about as they these tasty biscuits fly out of the kitchen. Yes, they are good and I recommend a stop to check it out for yourself. The McLendon location is not too large, so time your visit accordingly. Why only 4 stars, well, the dusted potato's were fairly average. I'll stop back again when I'm in the area as other menu items looked very enticing to the palette. As well, there is an attached bakery! Enjoy.
