“The Slowest Biscuit”

By SDSMITH4996 |

That’s Right! You heard it! “The Slowest Biscuit” The owners may want to reconsider changing its name. During my stay, a dear friend suggested this location for a nice brunch. My friend always has some pretty great recommendations so I knew he couldn’t be wrong. The restaurant is in the heart of a beautiful commercial artsy location where the streets are painted in rainbows. Illusions of diamond flakes shine through as the sunlight meets the colors and natural rock of the roads. The streets were filled with mixed individuals, someone was celebrating their engagement a block away and I noticed that a lot of people were walking their pets as well. Such a beautiful area. My party was quoted 25min wait, which was fine. They had chairs along the building and we just enjoyed our surroundings until that 25 mins turned into 50mins. No informative staff came by or apologies offered. I had to check on my reservation to make sure there hadn’t been a missheaps. Shortly seated after which lead to another 1hr before we got our food. I noticed everyone had a lengthy wait time so I didn’t complain plus I had no where to be. The host sat us with an attitude not very welcoming to guest who have been waiting long. The waitress was not professional at all. I could tell her life story about how she moved and her parents were split up and she decided to move closer to her dad blah blah... She was honest and mentioned don’t get the biscuits and dumplings which we respected. However, the language and presentation was not something I would allow from my staff. The food was ok and may have been better but the thrill was gone. The apple butter was delicious. I can’t homestly rate the food because of the expierence. The server did offer free juice from the bar. A manager also did stop by but seemed clueless if the restaurant status. I’m positive every table had long wait times, I could also her a table of 6 stating how long they had been there. Really don’t care to go back.

Grits so good

By callieniekag |

Love this place. Options for folks who don't eat pork. That's hard to find on a breakfast place. Grits are just that, dreamy and creamy! It's a wait though.

Nice breakfast stop

By TheRealJTForReal |

Stopped here on our way to FL for a quick breakfast stop and it was pretty good. The biscuits were average but I have a very high bar set for biscuits. The potatoes were very good, seasoned perfectly. What really elevated the meal for me was the omelte. I ordered the Piemont omelet and it was great. The bacon was crisp and the chicken sausage was tender and everything just mixed well.

Good food but very uncomfortable seating

By CaptTrouble |

I went here for breakfast on a weekday morning and they were really busy. I spoke to the young woman who was at the host station on the sidewalk; she didn’t even speak to me, she just pointed at the counter just inside the door. I wasn’t even offered a table or offered to be put on a wait list. I thought that was kind of rude. I took a seat at the L-shaped counter. I sat around the side so only part of my back was to the door. I really do not like to be seated with my back to a door open to the sidewalk since I had a clutch wallet and no safe place to put it. There was no room on my broken-down bar stool. The only good thing about being right next to the door was air; there was no air conditioning or fans that I could see or feel. There weren’t any other seats for me to sit at so I took the least bad of a couple available. After a couple minutes I was given a menu by the woman working behind the counter. She was also cashiering and putting out to go orders so she was REALLY BUSY. After a few minutes I placed my order of the Biscuit, Gravy, and Eggs breakfast. It was too hot for coffee so I opted for water instead. It wasn’t cold, it was just wet. The woman behind the counter was very nice but very over-worked. It didn’t take long for my food to be served. It came out hot and it was good. The gravy was a savory chicken gravy and the biscuit was fluffy and fresh. The eggs are scrambled on this, and although cooked hard, they were pretty good. I shy away from this place for a solo breakfast because it is so crowded at the counter with people standing right behind you waiting for a table or a stool, and others shoving through from the bathroom.

Very recommendable

By Mario Ivan |

It was a very busy morning but the waitress and person at the bar did everything very good The waffle and the biscuit the best of the meal Very reasonable prices. Recommended Very nice staff

Last breakfast in town.

By Steven K |

The chicken sausage is very good and the cranberry apple butter is different yet tasty. The portions are a good size and filling. The seating arrangement is cool were you can sit inside and inside/outside at the same time. Cool place to eat.

Rude manager….. enjoys humiliating customers, horrible experience. Shame on them!!!

By Cleo M |

Placed a to go order here, arrived at the restaurant at the designated time to be told my order wasn’t ready. I asked the hostess to check every 15 minutes or so only to be told that they are still working on it. After 45 minutes, I insisted that they check with the kitchen only to be told that the order was never received. I was frustrated, asked to speak to the manager and was advised that the issue was my fault because I should have specified that the order was done online. I asked him how I as supposed to know this? Why couldn’t the employee know whether the order was placed. The manager belittled me saying sorry sweetie…: have a blessed day, turned around and stormed off. I have been going to their restaurants for years and years and WILL NEVER BE BACK!!!

Must do when in ATL

By EllisKayyne |

The food is fresh and atmopshere is live and fun and casual. Awesome experience. Cant wait to go back.

Great breakfast

By VitaminMoose |

Excellent southern breakfast. The biscuit was a good ol heavy southern biscuit. Chicken sausage was pretty good, surprisingly. Grits were creamy. Oatmeal pancake and peaches out it over the top.

Best breakfast ever

By Marymshan |

This little cafe in Buckhead is the best for breakfast. We loved the peach compote over oatmeal pancakes dish and my husband raved about his French toast. The food was fresh, delicious and the service was excellent. BTW the coffee was great too!

Terrible custome service

By jackie S |

Terrible customer service. Poor communication. Not customer friendly. Answers phone calls after multiple multiple rings.

Pricy and good

By Liberty H |

This place is pricy but delicious. I ordered shrimp and grits, and it was fantastic. My husband ordered the chicken club and he also liked it. Staff was pretty friendly.

Good food !

By Miss_Mids |

Came here twice for breakfast during our 3 day trip to Atlanta. Saturday morning was really busy and we had to wait about 25 minutes for a table but the breakfast was really good. It’s much less busy during the week. French toast and biscuits were really good as was the chicken sausage.

Fun

By John G |

Decided to try Flying Biscuit on the recommendation of a friend who was there a few years ago. The atmosphere is inviting due to its eclectic vibe and is also great great for people watching. Since we were so impressed with breakfast and our wonderful server Jasmine we decided to return for dinner. The food was once again delicious but the service was both sporadic and minimal. I would definitely recommend checking it out and asking for Jasmine.

great breakfast!

By lindas286 |

perfect breakfast gathering spot

By ELLlady |

Perfect place for group breakfast for all age groups. Some had biscuits, others pancakes, eggs, bacon. All good!

Wow, what an experience

By Blindfish180 |

Great menu followed by fantastic food and complimented with excellent service. I had the veggie scrambled eggs with Mac&Cheese - too the point and more than I could manage. I would definitely come again!

Don’t miss this place

By Susan S |

Amazing food!!! Amazing service. Had breakfast - oatmeal pancakes- eggs- biscuits -pancake taco. Absolutely delicious! Ate breakfast and kept me full until Dinner. Big portions!!! Do not miss this place!!!!! There was a wait to go in . Line went fast . I would 100% go back!!! Do not miss if you are in AtlantA.

Amazing biscuits, traditional grits, and warm service !

By Toyo3 |

First time in Atlanta and looking to start the day with something typical and fun. Based on reviews from others we decided to go this morning and we were not disappointed one bit. Service was great and the food was amazing! Make sure you get there early as a line formed outside when we left and it was full soon.

Easy bar seating

By Gina |

As a solo traveler I love to be able to jump in and grab a bar still for quick and easy service. This restaurant was very good and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth stopping for breakfast!

Fabulous breakfast!

By Eden C |

I loved this place. Our waiter was super nice and friendly. The food was really good. The creamy dreamy grits were terrific and so was the moon dusted potatoes. It’s hard to wax ecstatic about poached eggs but they were good too. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Atlanta. My husband and brother-in-law enjoyed their food too. Yummy. The coffee could have been fresher but it was okay.

If the name fits.....

By MySheeda |

Ok I’ve heard of this place before & always wanted to eat here. So when there was an hour wait for my favorite spot (Another Broken Egg) got the chance to try it out. This topped off a great impromptu girls weekend. My favorite by far was the chicken sausage, the grits, & the BISCUIT! It was so fluffy & light. It was fantastic!! I seen a lot of wraps & omelettes on tables as well...try it out! 😁 get a biscuit

Brunch

By James D |

Stopped here for some biscuits after running the Jeff Galloway half marathon. Cute little place but really crowded, likely because it really popular. Got biscuits to go and a sausage biscuit. All of the food was great. I particularly like the jam which I think was cranberry apple butter.

Outstanding Breakfast

By jdteeth |

Loved this place. 4 of us had breakfast...all loved their choices. Biscuit and jam were second to none. Grits were good...a little too creamy for my taste...I think I like more traditional style. Delicious egg scramble that was a special that morning. Can’t wait to return next time we are in Atlanta.

Business brunch

By c3saunders |

Amazing good, fun spirit, ideally located. The menu offers everything from eggs to brunch to lunch. I had the oven-fried BLT salad. Delicious! And yes, the biscuits are heavenly.

So glad this restaurant was there since the Four Seasons was not very welcoming to us

By EGRap |

We ate breakfast here four days in a row, as it is in midtown, close to the Four Seasons. The food was good and the people were nice, which was more than I could say for our stay at the Four Seasons.

Best breakfast ever

By Isabelle-leesveel |

This place was close by my hotel and I wanted some real southern breakfast. My oh my, I still remember the fabulous taste. Wish we had something like this in Belgium, I definitely have to learn how to make good French toast. I had the eggs - bacon - sausage- biscuit - grits - apple butter & French toast. That apple butter, I’m now said that I didn’t ask to buy a jar. This is a lick your fingers place! Walked back after my breakfast because waitress gave me all my money back instead of keeping a tip. She was such a lovely, friendly girl that I was happy to walk back! I definitely recommend this place to everyone

A must go to if in Atlanta!

By Dr. Roland T |

Great place to eat breakfast if in downtown Atlanta. We go when there for weekend visits. A fun place with great food and a casual setting . Be sure to try the biscuits and gravy! They are delish!

Good Breakfast, Great Location

By Courtney |

We got to Flying Biscuit right as it opened on Sunday to grab breakfast before my friend's flight home; the service was quick and kind, the space was eclectic and fun, and the location was perfect (easy 10-minute walk from our hotel, and many others I'm sure). The food was good and there were plenty of gluten-free options (including grits!). We had a great breakfast and would eat here again if we're ever in the area.

Average Breakfast Spot

By Jamesr2000 |

Lots of hype for a breakfast place that is really nothing special. We were steered to this restaurant by our Atlanta friends. We got there and there was a 30 minute wait, which we thought was a great sign—this was obviously going to be good! Food was good, but nothing to wait for. Service was good. Overall, just an average diner.

Loved the food - healthy options

By FunTravelsfor2 |

One look at the menu and I was hooked. Of course they serve up your typical eggs, bacon and biscuit- but for me it was the açaí bowl! Delicious! And the organic oatmeal pancakes. The açaí bowl was topped with blueberries bananas coconut flakes and pecans.

Loved it

By Womonwriter |

The Biscuit was a nice walk from our midtown hotel on a very pleasant Saturday morning. They said a 20 minute wait, so I walked across the street and got us coffee. We were seated long before we finished the coffee, and nothing was said about our bringing the coffee with us. Nice. Somehow the restaurant is below street level. We were seated by an open window with a cool breeze blowing. My favorite part of the whole weekend was sitting there enjoying the menu. Such luscious looking food! I ordered an omelet with veggies and goat cheese and other things I’ve forgotten. It came with a biscuit, and I couldn’t resist ordering a side of raspberry French toast. Delightful. Almost forgot the heavenly grits that came with the meal. I don’t really care for grits, but these were something special. Yum! Service excellent. By the time we finished, there were empty tables, and so we dallied awhile. No one rushed us. It’s a tight squeeze in that place, but we felt completely comfortable. Wish I lived nearby!

Sunday Breakfast

By robertsS3636AJ |

Very popular place. Waited 45 minutes for a table. Took the opportunity to walk around the park. Very nice area for walking. Kitchen capacity was stretched as had to wait for silverware to be ready. They provided plastic forks and knifes that would not cut english muffins.Overall the food quality was good. Waiter service was average. Would suggest to go at off peak times.

Breakfast All Day

By jm31563 |

I decided that I was going to reward myself after working very hard on the weekend, so I took myself out to breakfast called the Flying Biscuit Café it has several different locations one in Midtown. They serve all day breakfast. I wanted to get something to go because this place always has long lines! I decided to get their latest breakfast item on the menu called the FreeBird - You get two chicken tenders laid out on a split biscuit with two eggs on top, chicken sausage gravy on the side, with creamy dreamy grits. Since I didn’t want syrup drizzled on the top of my order, they gave me a side of raspberry preserves instead. The grits were very tasty - very fluffy! I put the chicken sausage gravy on the grits, which made it even better. The biscuit was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The eggs we’re made to run a bit, and I am not a fan of runny eggs, but I ate them anyway. The chicken tenders, however though cooked well, were underwhelming. In my opinion they lacked flavor or seasoning. Of course, I ate them anyway. Overall I’ll give his breakfast a four out of five it was executed very well, as well as the way it was intended to be cooked. What I like most about flying biscuit is that their menu is pretty eclectic and diverse. I will have to try Flying biscuit again at another location

Interesting settings

By dolphinmaniac |

It was a suggestion from our friend. The door was locked. You are waiting outside and someone comes to get you in. Not too long time wait. Lots of graffiti and paintings everywhere. Food was nice. Not that very great. We were happy to see this place.

Outstanding breakfast. Best Biscuits ever.

By bigboy53 |

I was referred by our hotel and what a great recommendation. Best breakfast I can remember. 5 stars and if I could give 6 I would. Small place, so if you have to wait it is worth it! I wish I could open a franchise. Out of this world grits and no frills. Very reasonably priced.

Isle of Palm's

By SoundmanRB |

I had Stairway to Hevan Rib-eye French Dip with chips, Daughter had Drops of Jupiter Pancakes with Syrup and a side of BACON, Bacon was Cooked perfectly and Tasty. Mrs had Best I Ever Had French Toast and a side of bacon. All the food was just above average, Service was ok. Definitely needs some time to improve. Waitress said the had only been open a few months. Will definitely get better with time.

Breakfast Heaven

My son & I had breakfast at Flying Biscuits 2 times over a weekend visit Everything was great service was friendly & attentive Biscuits are very special

Extremely Poor Service And Rude Manager

By Byron W |

Awful experience and I would never go back. The door was locked when we walked up and the guy was looking at me. After he finally let me in, he said they don’t seat complete parties and we had to wait outside with my mom using a cane. I had to ask for a chair for her. When the rest of our party of seven arrived, the door was locked again and we had to knock. While waiting, we gave a man who was unhoused. He went to order from Flying Biscuit and the manager made him order from outside. When we finally got in, they didn’t have tables together for seven and tried to seat us at separate tables. I stopped to talk to the manager. Among everything else, I told him it was not okay to take the gentleman’s money, but force him to order outside. The manager was extremely rude when I told him the service and series of events was unacceptable. He walked away from me mid conversation and began yelling across the restaurant. In an “unproud” moment, I reciprocated his behavior by yelling back before leaving. We went to Thumbs Up restaurant instead (about ten minutes away) and everything was perfect. Thumbs up- especially this location has unfortunately gone downhill so I highly recommend you go somewhere else or maybe try a different location.

Delicious food in casual diner setting

By Sandy G |

We had read great reviews online and this place did not disappoint! The cosy, casual setting at the southwest corner of Piedmont Park is well-situated and the food is great. The menu is extensive - we had trouble deciding what to order. The french toast with fruit compote was delicious, as was the variation on Eggs Benny on a biscuit with grits. Washed down with sweet tea while we people watched as it is a busy intersection. Good value, tasty food, friendly staff. Recommended!

Breakfast at the bar

By Faryl H |

No waiting for a table since I sat at the bar. Quick service for sweet tea and their version of eggs benedict with grits. Some of the best grits I've ever had! Great value, too. I would definitely return.

Not a good experience.

By Tracy J |

Very busy Saturday morning, but I assume that’s typical. They seemed prepared to handle lots of people waiting outside. We waited about 40 minutes for a table. That was fine. Waited another 10-15 minutes to be recognized and gave our order right then. OK. Then waited about another 30 minutes, watching people who were seated after us receive food, not even a coffee refill for us, then I mentioned to a woman who looked like a manager to check on ours. She went away and never came back. Passed our table at least a dozen times and never said anything more to us. She obviously had mentioned to our waiter that we had spoken up, he came by and said our food was coming - no apology or mention of why it was late. So, about the amount of time it would have taken to prepare our order from the moment I mentioned it to the woman, the food arrived. Obviously the order hadn’t been put in until then. Still, not a word of apology or explanation. Had to flag the waiter to ask for butter for the biscuits. Had to flag the waiter to ask for the check. And the food was okay but not great. One would expect the biscuits at least to be really good southern biscuits. Nope.

Great place to grab breakfast at the airport

By Eric R |

I came out here in 2015. It was in Downtown Atlanta. This time it was while my flight was delayed. I started getting hungry and this place did the job. The menu is not as big as the storefronts but it was excellent for an airport restaurant. On Point.

Great food

By Carrie P |

We heard this place was were we should have brunch on out first morning in Atlanta. It was a short walk from the midtown Renaissance Hotel. There was a short way as the place was busy but staff was very gracious and friendly. Food was good and plenty of it. The one negative was it is a small restaurant so seating was tight and it was a little noisy.

Authentic local dining

By Thea W |

I rate the place “excellent” because it lived up to my expectations of meeting an authentic local dining with all its charm. Unusually sweet pleasant and nice napkin and a menu that met the expectations based on what we had read about the place.

Great Service! Good Food!

By Melanie L |

Loved this resturant- we ate there 3 times while we were in the area.We had amazing service every time we were in (so much so that the waitress rememebered our drink order). The "dreamy" grits were great! Really enjoyed the chicken gravy and the buttermilk pancakes. The Oatmeal pancakes were delicious but so HEAVY!! The apple/cranberry butter was incredible. I would recommend this resturant to anyone in the area.

Noisy Slow and MSG

By Lynn |

Veggie scramble was good with lots of veggies. Got with potatoes instead of fruit which were tasty but gave my husband an msg effect Came with biscuit. Big plate of food and reasonably priced but we just didn’t feel happy afterwards. Perhaps the aforementioned msg. Anyway at 10:30 on Friday AM there was a wait. It was packed and so noisy we couldn’t have a conversation. Service was underwhelming. Will not be returning.

Disappointing

By NA22 |

Our first breakfast in Atlanta was disappointing. Service was not with a smile and it felt a little uncomfortable. Ordered pancakes with banana and after 10 minutes, we were told they had no bananas. Pancakes were bland and boring. Grits and biscuits were nice.

Well never got inside

By Stormi H |

I was so excited to go to the flying biscuit. Unfortunately we got in line (we were a party of 5) and quickly a family of 3, a party of 1, a party of 2 and a party of 2 lined up behind us. Because of “safety” we waited outside the locked door. The lady obviously didn’t want to be there but every time came out kept asking how many to every group with a roll of her eyes. Bypassing us and grabbing every other group. I understood that we did have a group of 5 (three adults and a 6&4 year old) she took every other group except us and when she finally came said she had two table and asked us to split…. I’m sorry do you want my kids at a different table? Should I put my dad by himself? Kick away my mom? Tell me Karen???….. we couldn’t push the tables together. Needless to say we left after the 25 min wait and getting nowhere …. I do suggest the caribou coffee across the street. I still want to try the flying biscuit but I’m not going to the one in midtown.

Lunch

By Johnnyboydc |

Not knowing this was a breakfast spot I went in for food. Everything I ordered was mediocre at best. There is a cashier/waiter that looks exactly like chance the rapper. he was cool and friendly. I actually enjoyed my conversation with him more than the cuisine. He recommended dishes that were fan favorites but I was not impressed. The venue is a bit congested.

Just okay...

By Whitney Koonce |

Looooong wait. The waiter was fantastic, but the food itself was not very good. We felt it was super greasy and overpriced. Not sure that I understand what makes this place so popular?

Yummy!

By mimrah |

Great spot to stop for breakfast. I got eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, and French toast and it was soooo good! Especially the grits. Love the biscuits with apple butter. Can’t wait to come back.

GREAT Food, long wait!

By hojomax |

The flying biscuit is a must for any visit to Atlanta. Be ready to wait because it’s a hotspot...but it’s worth it! Great southern style breakfast, biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, French toast. Yum!

Slap Yo' Mama Grits

By TERESA R |

Small place, tight seating, long wait (1hr), but the food 100% made up for all of that. The shrimp and grits was great. The grits alone are just right. Breakfast was a delight.

The location i& vibe s the main attraction, but the food is a close second.

By 381rodneyp |

A family member took us here while we were visiting in Midtown. The location on the corner of a main street is super and the feel of the restaurant is definitely unique and non-chain. We had breakfast which was good -although mine was a little on the cool side when it arrived and the side of bacon was tiny. But I would say overall I was not that disappointed. I did try one of their signature biscuits which were perfect.

Should let those "Flying Biscuits" fly away

By tnsilvertip |

Not my kind of biscuit. It was tall, white, hard, and dry without a good texture. More like a hard roll than a biscuit. BUT, the chicken was just great, Thick and moist with a nice breading that wasn't real thick. Coffee was OK but nothing to brag on. Not much parking space available. Restaurant was clean but seemed cluttered.

Their food is amazing

By Nyla Oates |

I recommend this restaurant to everyone. THIS RESTAURANT IS AMAZING! This is all I have to say! But if you don't believe me. I will tell u that the eggs mixed with chopped up smoked salmon is the best thing I ever tasted and also their cheesy grits are the most amazing things I have ever tasted. I really enjoyed it. Also the biscuit I had was with a sausage in the middle with jelly is really delicious. I enjoy The Flying Biscuit.

They can't cook eggs, but everything else is good

By Harry |

I go to Flying Biscuit because of its proximity to my apartment. It's decent but they just cannot cook an egg to save their life, they are always somewhat burnt, including omelettes. I just don't understand how someone hasn't told them, or how they haven't realized on their own that they constantly overcook their eggs. Maybe turn down the griddle a bit? The namesake biscuits are really good. Folk Art is a much better diner overall, I hate to say it.

Turkey Potroast - What?!

By Veronica H |

I stopped in for a casual dinner. I was intrigued by the biscuits and I'd never heard of turkey potroast. This was delicious, filling, and inexpensive. You can't beat that.

Risked it or the Biscuit

By Rome |

Literally came here based off of the name alone. Personally I was a little disappointed, I got the steak and eggs, and it truly wasn’t anything to write home about. The steak was a little tough and didn’t have much flavor. BUT those grits though!!! I could have eaten probably another 3 bowls of those grits. The biscuit was good, but the apple butter was truly the highlight of that show. I would honestly have taken a jar of that to-go if they sold it. My friend orders the Salmon scramble and said it was a game changer, so if I were to ever come back that’s what I would be trying.

Ridiculous wait for food

By Williams |

Seated in time we were told but still waiting over an hour for our food. May be good but that’s a ridiculous wait.

OMG - Oh my grits!

By Nina044 |

This place rocked. We initially arrived on Sunday at 7am as advertised as opening time on their website and they were closed and a note on the door said open at 8am. We were really mad as we were short on time and had read this was one of the places to visit. We headed to J Christophers instead and weren't disappointed. As we were leaving Atlanta for Nashville on the Monday we had to arrive early and were grateful this place did open at 7am. The coffee was great as was the chorizo omelette and eggs. The biscuits were to die for and the apple jam was so yummy. My meal was huge so I couldn't finish it. I'm not a fan of grits but hubby chose them and they had to be the creamiest grits ever. I loved their teeshirts they sell - OMG - Oh my grits. Service was friendly and good. Would highly recommend.

Breakfast all day

By James L |

Went here for dinner since we were staying Midtown, & it was walking distance. Tried the fried green tomatoes, love cakes (bean and corn cakes), biscuit pot pie, tilapia & grits, and the chicken, mac & cheese, & collards. Pot pie was the best dish of those. Large, heavy biscuits; best part of the meal. Most people were ordering the breakfast for dinner. Pancakes looked good. Windows could use more wiping down, a lot of sticky little kid handprints on them.

Great service and great breakfast!

By flashsam7267 |

We were staying nearby and found this place for breakfast. It has a vast menu of different items (and now the usual boring breakfasts!) We ate here twice during our time in Atlanta because it was so good. Special thanks for making the effort to open in the crazy cold weather in January! The first visit I had the Big cheesy patty melt. The bread was nice and the meat was ok, the bacon was super crispy. I'd never had a biscuit before so asked if I could have that as my side (good choice as it was lovely!) My wife had Drops of Jupiter (2 pancakes with chocolate chips) and the pancakes were amazing. Lovely and fluffy and soft and loads of chocolate chips. On the 2nd visit I got the Hangover hash which was really really good. Big portion of fried potato cubes, chicken, chorizo and more. Very tasty. My wife had the same pancakes which were just as good, although not as many chocolate drops in. Also on our 2nd visit we both got given a biscuit for some reason. Not complaining as they were lovely and warm and soft. I can't remember the name of the server on the 2nd visit, but on our 1st visit Ilyana was amazing. So friendly and part of the reason we decided to come back again. Highly recommend this place for the pancakes and hash, and will come back next time we're in the area.

Sunday Brunch...yum!!

By cynthiaJAX |

The wait wasn’t terrible - about an hour for a party of three at 11am on Sunday. Parking is challenging - we ended up paying $20 in a nearby lot. In hindsight, we should have ubered there and back to our hotel. Everything was delicious - the biscuits, the scrambled eggs with cheese & veggies, the home fries (a little salty). Only one in our party had the oatmeal pancakes and said they were very good also, though the peaches in the compote topping were canned. The place is small, crowded and very loud, so don’t expect to have a meaningful conversation. Even with its limitations, I would go back there again.

Amazing food and atmosphere!!!

By Shay |

This place is amazing and we will return whenever we are in town. The food is awesome and the vibe is so nice!

Great spot for breakfast

By Aly A |

Went there twice during my weekend trip to Atlanta due to how good it was. It was in walking distance to my hotel (the Loews) and we only had a 5-15 minute wait both times we went. The food is delicious and the waiters attentive. It is crowded and loud inside, but it was totally worth it. I would recommend this for breakfast or lunch and will go back when I visit Atlanta again.

Best brunch menu

By Sharon C. |

This place is a great find! They put their own unique twist on the food they serve! I visit every time I'm in Atlanta.

Almost worth the wait!

By Bill B |

Ate there before a matinee show a few blocks away and were almost late to the theater. It was two hours from the time we signed up for a table to the time we'd eaten and left. The food was good and reasonably priced.

Great biscuits

By Josh BOWMAN |

From the min we walked in the service was superior. The food came out super fast. The food was delicious and very good quality. Great place to eat.

Breakfast Spot

By TheLeongOhana |

Brunch was busy the day of our visit but we only had to wait about five minutes outside until a table was readied. Tables were a little tight together. Ours was right next to a pillar and a wire rack of stuff behind me. There was a good mix of brunch choices from omelettes, chicken & waffles, scrambles, grits and more. We ended up trying the following: Best I Ever Had which was french toast but not the best we’ve eaten. Piedmont Omlette was filled with chicken it sausage. bacon, cheese and onions. It did seem like the omelette was a bit small versus the biscuit and bowl of grits. Overall food was as expected but we did like the creaminess and taste of their grits. Not sure I recall seeing a separate credit card processing charge posted anywhere or informed by our server but they added an extra 3.5% to our bill when we used it. Really needs to be clearly highlighted so it’s not a surprise when asked to pay the bill after they've run the credit card. Service overall was good but next time in Atlanta we’ll try another brunch spot.

Death of the Flying Biscuit

The Original Flying Biscuit has succumb to generational loss of knowledge, profit margin, and convenience. The remaining vestige, Midtown Flying Biscuit has joined the franchises and chided the beloved biscuit! It is a sad day for craft biscuits and taste!

Friendly staff, great food

By MBlair1 |

We had to wait for a table (25 min or so) but they have chairs outside and a street performer so it went by quickly. The pancakes were delicious as was the avocado toast, eggs and chicken sausage. Grits were extra cheesy. Bar has about 6-8 seats that are quick/easy to come in and sit/eat. They also have a big grab-and-go menu available for those who want something quick.

BRUNCH BRUNCH BRUNCH

By briantprice6 |

Even on a hot day BRUNCH was EVERYTHING!!!!! Wait time was less then expected and the wait was well worth it....more seating outside when large wait time would be beneficial....update system to text when table is ready rather than having the hostess scream a persons name.....FOOD was GREAT!!! biscuits w/ gravy, shrimp n grits, oatmeal pancakes, eggs, we enjoyed it all....mimosa was way more then just a champagne flute like other restaurants....a/c was trying to keep the interior cool but with all the people and the heat from the kitchen it was so hot inside, I wanted to bust thru the window just to get a breeze

Some good + some just OK = long wait

By theasp00 |

It seems like most restaurants in Midtown ATL, especially if you serve breakfast the entire time your open, have an hour or more wait. This place was no different, but it wasn't truly warranted. It's just that most of these restaurants are in tiny roadside shops. It's worth checking out I think, but it's a mixed bag. The grits were phenomenal, the fried green tomatoes were pretty good, the eggs were OK, the turkey bacon tasted like the regular Oscar Meyer type, the cranberry apple butter was great and the biscuits were my least favorite item that had the flavor of Pillsbury that come out of a tube. They'll mix about any Minute Maid or Simply flavored juice with champagne at least, which I liked.

Flying grits on a biscuit

By seanald |

Tried grits for the first time. I’m a northerner and heard grits were gross. Flying biscuits grits are awesome. Apple butter was delicious. Sausage gravy was all that. I loved it

EGGcellent

By ThePowerCouple98 |

We went for breakfast and were seated quickly. Fantastic server and friendly service. As always the moon dusted potatoes and love cakes were delicious. Absolutely love Flying Bisquit Cafe and wish we could eat here more often.

Could not have been better

By Steve_Hunter |

Came here for brunch on our way to Piedmont Park and loved it! Staff were so friendly & helpful. Food was great, particularly the grits & biscuits, and the chicken sausage is lovely & peppery.

Friendly service

By Shiva |

My colleagues/friends and I are in Atlanta on a work trip. This is my first time visiting the States and my friend and I were very excited to try grits. During our first morning, we discovered Flying Biscuit and we are in love with the place! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our waiter was very patient and explained what grits were. He also memorised all of our orders. The breakfast itself was very delicious. We are planning to come again before we leave. Highly recommended!

Yummy yummy yummy

By charisms2017 |

Their grits are yummy!!!!! Love their pancakes and they have a great menu selection. This is not your average brunch place. Come ready to eat and be mesmerized by the menu. I come here every time I visit Atlanta. They also cater to vegetarians!

Love this place!

I absolutely loved having breakfast here. I was visiting from buffalo, ny. And stumbled upon this little place. Such a fun, funky environment...and great food!!!

The worst breakfast we’ve had in a long time

By Ben G |

A shockingly bad experience. We are foodies and eat out a great deal. The hostess called us rude, and then swore us. It was a cold morning and we didn’t want to wait outside or at least have the three-year-old wait outside while they put together our table by cold. I mean it was 30° outside. We were more than happy for the adult adults to stay outside The manager came over and apologized, but would not force the employee to address the issue. Food was average at best. Would definitely not recommend going there. Overall, a terrible experience after the young woman who swore us and called us. Rude said she didn’t care what we thought. Clearly the manager didn’t handle the situation. Beware they’re better places to go for breakfast, including the Atlanta breakfast club, which we found fantastic with excellent service.

MEGGXICAN WRAP

By BobbyJ35222 |

A wonderful play on words but the proof of its deliciousness can only be found in eating this great tasting breakfast. I asked for very well done eggs and I was not disappointed - they were well cooked but still moist and tasty. The spiciness was balanced but not overwhelmed by the dollop of sour cream. The onions and peppers were cooked perfectly - blending with the other ingredients without overpowering the wonderful taste of the spicy eggs.

Same Great Food as Always

By UFyellowfin |

We stopped in here for breakfast before doing a little sightseeing in ATL with the kids. Not much to write about as the food was incredible as always and the service was impeccable. Kudos to management and staff, keep up the awesome work.

Try it, it won’t disappoint

By Jacob P |

Great service, great food and a freaking awesome biscuit! Asked the server what was the best, he had four or five recommendations and went with the chorizo hash! Thanks man. It was awesome , then topped it off with the best biscuit I’ve ever had.

Biscuits were disappointing.

By sandrag55 |

On a recent visit to to Atlanta, my niece chose this place for breakfast. I had the french toast which was different. The bread was nutty and toasty with good flavor and the raspberry sauce was good. The half order with a side of bacon was plentiful. However, I was disappointed in the biscuits. They seemed to be very "heavy", not light and fluffy like traditional southern biscuits. No sense on wasting my calories on something that wasn't outstanding. Of course, that is my opinion, and each person has their own taste in certain items.

Delish!

By Laura S |

Omelette was perfectly cooked, biscuit was warm and flaky and the fresh fruit was actually FRESH! My son had the pancakes which were literally the size of the entire plate. They were nice and fluffy and the bacon was perfectly crisp just as he likes it.

Slice of Atlanta with a Billion Calories!

By Tracey R |

So lucky we found this breakfast spot! I had a delicious Southern breakfast of Crab Benedict and grits with a billion calories. Good thing I had just run 5 miles in Piedmont Park! Sat at the counter, and enjoyed the banter with the servers. Totally worth it, and as a West Coaster, I appreciated getting to enjoy a traditional Southern breakfast with true ATL people!

overrated joint

By MidtownEater |

Over-easy eggs were hard boiled. Place is noisy, cramped, and pricey. Came here because a friend recommended it for brunch. Won't come again.

Not at all worth the wait.

By Ebony W |

I really hate to give bad reviews for companies, unless the customer service is bad. In this case, the customer service was ok, but the food was terrible! I had a chicken Sandwich with home potatoes. The food was bland and dry. We were a party of six that ordered six different meals and all six meals were god awful. We ordered mimosas and was served mimosas in a plexiglas drinking cup. When I asked the waitress for flutes or at least wine glasses, the waitress said we don't have any flutes or wine glasses. Within 10 minutes we see a family sitting next to us being served their mimosas in flutes. When we asked the waitress again about the glasses, she said "I'm sorry I didn't know we had glasses like that." We waited 2 hours on a Sunday morning to have bland dry food with adult beverages in a kiddie cup. Never will I eat here again.

Great breakfasts here

By bobalcorn5 |

I happened on the FB by accident while seeking breakfast on a Saturday morning. I got an outside seat and was promptly served. My choice was a Southern scramble with grits and a biscuit. The food was great, and the price was right. Check it out.

Ordered online for delivery. Food missing no condiments wrong potatoes.

By Veronica |

These places just don't care about orders that go through food delivery. I was missing the order of bacon, coffee was old and cold, got the wrong order of potatoes, and one little syrup for a great big waffle, no other condiments. We'll never visit here.

Best breakfast

By JoJo |

I really enjoyed my cinnamon swirl pancakes.I went in with hopes that the pumpkin pancakes was still on the menu. Once again I was not disappointed 🙂.

A Fun Experience

By 2hubbies |

Came here twice while visiting Atlanta, once for breakfast and once for dinner. A very eclectic ambiance with delicious food. Service was a little sporadic, but not awful. Loved sitting by the windows to people watch while eating . Would certainly recommend this iconic restaurant to everyone.

Fluffy and mouth watering

By Samara H |

I had shrimp and grits with there special biscuits. It was very delicious. Everything from the biscuit being moist and the shrimp having the right flavour mixed in with well done grits. The service was lovely and it was a bunch meal that made me full all day

Good southern comfort food

By Lruss914 |

Arrived for dinner an hour before closing the food was delicious the service was OK the waitress was bored and ready to leave she could’ve been better at hiding that. I would definitely go again,The chicken gravy was to die for!

Highly recommend

By 836eldent |

This was an excellent place to go to while in Midtown. In fact it was so good we went back for a second time as our waitress was so sweet. She actually switch tables the second time so that she could serve us. She was the best, so personal and welcoming. The breakfast was great, for such a small restaurant.

Great grits

By Traci S |

My husband and I went here and had the best cheese grits we'd ever had! The sausage biscuits and gravy were also off the charts. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was a pleasure.

Shrimp & Grits

By perezg1 |

This is a little restaurant with a great customer service, my daughter love the pot pie, and her friend the Bac & Cheese Chix. I tried the grits and shrimp to me they were just okay however my daughter trying and she like it. Overall great experience.

The server made sure my bad day was better

By Alex H. |

First off, the food: Excellent. The coffee came darker roast than breakfast places usually offer, and that's a good thing. It wasn't weak or watery, nor bitter. The omelette was stuffed so full it was bulging! The grits were excellent. I'm not a big biscuit fan, but mine was light and fluffy and not greasy or stodgy at all. I ordered an omelette (more on that later). The reason for this review is the service. I spent my morning at Piedmont Hospital seeing an eye doctor. I didn't have an excellent morning, and I'm pretty sure the server heard me talking about our visit with my mom, who was my driver for the event. I ordered the Piedmont Omelette, perhaps due to a sense of internal schadenfreude-ian humor. I'm about 80% sure he realized I was at the hospital, from the conversation we were having. He checked up on us often (Maybe it's me, but even at the expense of the other tables?) and made sure our food was great. He saw mom wasn't eating well, and asked if she was happy with her decision. She was- she ordered the pancakes and there were so many, she couldn't finish it! Definitely value for money, if you're a pancake lover. You will not go hungry at this place. The server was definitely looking out for us. We were ready for the bill, but he beat us to it- he placed it on the table right when we were about to ask him for it. This is the best server I've had in years, maybe more. I thank him for putting a smile on my face. He's definitely earned a positive review for his company.

Good but not worth the long wait

By UE_DC64 |

Cool but unremarkable brunch place. A surprisingly long waiting time on the weekend. The egg dishes were all very good.

Great staff

By RandiFayeC |

Happy to get in before the long line formed outside on a Sunday morning, we were staying at the HGI on 10th St and their breakfast was worse than awful so we walked the few blocks to Flying Biscuit. The décor is cute, the servers are very nice (didn't seem to have staffing shortages here). Food was a bit disappointing, biscuits underdone, cranberry butter sounds better than it is. Oddly, they did not have decaf coffee but that could be an Atlanta thing.

Flying Biscuit—great eats

By MidLyfeCrazy |

The biscuits are good but the cranberry apple butter, chicken sausage, and cheesy grits are a game changer...and I don’t normally eat grits!! We sat at the counter and our waiter was fabulous. Efficient and entertaining, we enjoyed him as much as our meal. Great selection of food but it is small and a bit cramped and noisy so not a great place for meetings or intimate conversation. Quirky painted walls, clean and updated bathrooms. We had brunch at 10:30 on a Monday and it was quite busy. I understand on weekends the line/can be long but this place is worth the wait. Give it a try...you won’t be sorry.

Very Average

By DFWSusan |

So this was just down the street from our Buckhead hotel. As such, I guess I was expecting a little better than what was offered. Kind of eclectic menu...breakfast offered all day, but nothing was fresh. Biscuits sitting around since earlier that morning. Barely warm. Wouldnt melt butter. Same with the bacon. Cold. Could hardly get a water refill. Burger King has better food. Pass it by.

Atlanta Vacation

By brownbubbly@yahoo.com |

I had the omelet with applewood bacon & grits where sooo delicious, bisquit with homemade butter. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the hot chocolate was like no other delicious.

Worth finding parking for - GREAT food!

By kmcqsponge |

Seriously excellent food! Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! Funky vibe, neat place, great table service - our waiter was so nice, checked on us regularly and got everything perfect. And OMG those "moon dusted" potatoes - they were the best breakfast potatoes I've had! They are fried but like perfectly, not greasy at all, crisp outside but delicious soft inside. The food all around was just amazingly good. They also serve cranberry-appleboutter with their heavy, delicious buscuits... you can buy a jar of it for $5.99. Go here! The only negative really is there is VERY limited parking and they do carefully monitor that people park in the correct spots or you will have your car booted (we saw this happen to someone while eating).

Friendly people, good food, and worth the visit!

By Harold L |

To be honest I went back and forth on doing a 3 star or 4 star review. However, I'm pretty sure that visiting this place after a 10 hour drive with 2 tired kids caused me to think about this place a little more negatively than if I had visited fully rested. So I went with the higher star rating. On to the review! For me, I thought this place was good. The Oatmeal Pancakes with peaches was very good. The grits are excellent. The biscuits were not as good as I expected. The kids had a rough time for parts of our visit, tired kids will do that, but they generally love breakfast food and there are a lot of choices on that end for the kids. Also, on a good note, the staff were very friendly and did a great job engaging with our tired family. My wife wasn't as big of a fan of the Biscuit Pot Pie. Maybe it was because we both were a little disappointed in the biscuits. The cost was a little higher than I would expect for the food we had but not astronomically so. Overall, I'd say food was good, staff was great, I'd recommend a visit. We'd love to give this place another visit when we're back in town...hopefully less tired next time :) Oh, also, the neighborhood is cool, my little girl loved the rainbow walkways!

good breakfast

By ErnestFromBaltimore |

There was a 20 minute line Friday morning a 10am so they must be doing something right! We ordered pretty standard breakfast fare (grits, eggs etc) and it was worth the wait, everything was very good. Service was not the most attentive, the waitress never offered a coffee refill but we were seated 'strategically' (right at the kitchen entrance) so we could flag her down when we saw her passing by with a can. Overall, better than average.

Just like I remembered

By Mack M |

Back in town for meetings and told a friend about The Flying Biscuit. We were there when the doors opened and quickly seated with a hot cup of coffee. Classic eggs Benedict and an oatmeal pancake with peaches totally delivered and fueled the body for my busy day. What a great place!!!

2 Southern Scrambles 🥚

By TK |

Long and drink filled nites call for a big healthy breakfast. Of course wknd mornings you’re there with the crush but do it in spite. We got 2 carryout meals and ate in car and weren’t disappointed: especially w/ environmentally friendly packaging materials. Southern Scramble w/ chopped bacon, kale, onions, mushers and cheese. Creamy delish grits in a to go cup and a Cute little biscuit w/ butter, jelly’s and a fab spicy applesauce compote. Next time we plan better and eat the meal inside. Def worth it

Expecting Something Better

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Chain of eateries in the Atlanta area, this one a folksy diner in Midtown. I was looking forward to having breakfast here with all the positive reviews. I ordered the Southern Scramble. It was okay but really pretty average and nothing special. I have had better grits here in Minnesota. Also avoid sitting at the counter near the main entrance. I did this as I was solo and didn't want to take up a table to myself. I felt in the way given the location and tight space and it didn't seem like a spot that customers should really use. Sitting at a table would have been a much more relaxed experience.

good food, good vibe and friendly service

By Latitude T |

This place was a good experience, although you have to wait outside before you can be seated, the food was worth the wait. The staff were nice and the service was quick.

Delicious breakfast

By Mary L |

Such a fun, funky place with a great breakfast! I had pancakes & chicken sausage...love, love, love!!!

Just Amazing

By Bossladii85 |

Ate here for the first time during my visit and 8 would say it soooooo good!! I had the biscuit and gravy with grits and a pancake and just amazing I love grits and these did not disappoint! And the buttermilk pancake with the with the pecan butter blew me away. The service was good and not a bad atmosphere. I will DEFINITELY be back!

Great southern breakfast

By Charlie B |

Great food and service...Be sure to arrive early as they don’t take reservations ahead of time and sometimes the wait to get in can be an hour to two hours

I’ve had better, but the service is great

By hrobinson1114 |

We went here because my husband wanted to have some amazing biscuits. It’s always crowded and there’s always a wait, but the staff is open about that, and they are always nice. I had the “Not your mama’s pimento cheese” sandwich, moon dusted potatoes, and grilled mac n’ cheese. Nothing I had blew me away, but our server (the bartender) was very attentive and conversational. We chatted with some other folks at the bar as well. It was a nice experience overall and the prices were reasonable. This place is for the vibe, not the gourmet cooking.

Weekday breakfast bonanza

By Amy F |

I happened on the restaurant through a search of breakfast restaurants near my hotel and it did not disappoint! I had a large breakfast that included the grits and a biscuit and pancakes with peaches - everything was delicious! In addition, I had a mocha to drink which was very large and although it was good, I would have liked a little more chocolate flavor. You can sit inside, outside, or at the bar - and the atmosphere and paintings on the walls were fun and interesting. The staff members were all very nice and helpful as well. I hope to return on my next trip to Atlanta with my family. Thanks!

Maybe a little better than average but not quite very good

By Drew G |

My wife and I stopped here on our way back from the airport early one morning. The coffee was hot, the food and service was good. What more can you ask for really? I don’t have anything bad to say about anything. But nothing stood out to me to say the food was awesome and I would go back for that. So try it for yourself maybe you’ll feel different.

Flavorful fare

By Wowsy |

Parking is a bear but worth the trouble! Limited parking at building, but can find street or public parking within a block or two. Menu is helpful for various eating categories. Pricing is ATL fair. Usually tables are full, but you are in and out fairly quickly. Food tastey with nice variety. My only chagrin is the staff needs to be aware of their offerings. I requested organic and was told there wasn't any, yet it is posted on menu and visually advertised within table sight. When brought to their attention, they immediately correctly without difficulty or attitude. Biscuits were a favorite !! Willing to return.

Yes!

By Symone K |

The food was really good, coffee not so much. We waited about 20 mins to be seated, no biggie. I ordered two pancakes and they were delicious. I also had the chicken chorizo breakfast bowl- can’t recall the name but it was REALLY GOOD. So good I had to stop eating it so that I could eat my pancakes. Definitely brought the remainder home. My girlfriend had an egg breakfast of some sort, she loved the French Toast. She was not a fan of the grits... she wanted just a bowl of grits with maybe some butter. I don’t eat grits so I don’t know what it is she didn’t like about them. Great experience and great food. GO!

Great food, low prices

By Brianna00000008 |

The wait time for the food was a bit long, so don't come here if you're in a hurry. But if you have time to wait, the service is great and the food is worth the wait and not overly expensive.

Friendly Staff

By Eartbb |

This was a graduation celebration brunch, and it was a good experience. Upsides- Queen was a good waitress. She memorized the order for 5 of us. Food was tasty. Chicken and waffles, biscuits, eggs and gravy all good. Grits needed more seasoning. They rank fair. Coffee refilled once. Hot tea never refilled though more hot water was promised. Downside- Food not served at the same time for all of us. 3 served, then one and then the last with 5 min between.

Good biscuits but dirty floors

By Robert L |

Place was very crowded and loud. Food was good, service just so so and floor was not very clean. It is unbelievable that so many restaurants have dirty floors. Good biscuits.

Always great

By Robin R |

I love the atmosphere at the flying biscuit. The food is always good. I usually get the same few things but you can’t go wrong with the potatoes or obviously the biscuits. I had the crab cake Benedict yesterday and it was great. Always a good place if you are in the area.

Dirty, poor service, incorrect order

By AamirAtl |

This happened a while ago, I’m just getting around to leaving a review on TA. Drink glass was chipped and dirty. Coffee mug still had lipstick on it (ewww). Service was slow and unfriendly. Food was ok, nothing special. Asked for salsa on the side they put it on the wrap anyway. Did not enjoy the experience. Will not return.

Great food and Service

By Willa B |

The food was simply amazing, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I will always eat at this place when I visit again.

Biscuits and Gravy!

By Lynne |

I lived in Atlanta for 7 years and never once visited The Flying Biscuit Cafe. Always heard good things, but never made it. I come back for a family trip and made the trek for breakfast and was so glad I did. Biscuits=very good. Gravy=delicious. Grits=some of the best I’ve ever had. Bacon=cooked just the way I like it. Any trips back to the Atlanta area will include breakfast at the cool flying cafe!

Great little spot!

By Karen C |

We saw this cute restaurant while walking around Midtown looking for somewhere to have a late breakfast. It was around 11:30. They were quite busy but we didn't have to wait very long for a wheelchair accessible table. I had the yogurt parfait and one of their biscuits with jam. My husband had 2 of their huge, fluffy pancakes. The butter that came with the pancakes was delicious - sweet with nuts in it. We both enjoyed our meals. I'm wondering if our server was new or just having an off day. She brought us our tea & coffee but no spoons or cream. Waited a long time to get that brought to us.

Trendy place! Good breakfast!

By McHalesNavy |

I ate here based on the feedback here and wasn’t disappointed. Parking is on the street, but on a Sunday morning I got lucky and found one close. It’s a small place and had a wait which puts you outside on the sidewalk. They put out chairs and the street musician was entertaining. 30 min wait on Sunday morning. No reservations taken. No Karla heads. The grits are very good. The biscuit was good - the inside was soft, flakey and warm. The apple butter was fantastic. The chicken sausage was okay compared to pork sausage, but for a healthy option it was good. I wasn’t a fan of the oatmeal pancake. Eggs were cooked perfectly. It’s a small little funky place. Looks like they open the front area on nice days to the street. Take out available. Cost about $15 per person.

Poor service and worse food

By Gayle F |

Waited over an hour for our food,I don’t understand how you can screw up a turkey burger other than having it sitting on the line for significant time. Grits were good, but I saw many plates with a lot of food sitting on it when people were finished. The restaurant was also dirty. Avoid this place.

Great Food at The Flying Biscuit

By 23brigittem |

OMG! Grits out of this world - they really are dreamy/creamy grits! Had the southern scrambler; I usually each spinach in my omelets, but this restaurant really did put a southern spin on the omelet by including collard greens! I love collard greens, but would have never thought about adding them to my omelet, but this worked! The omelet was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was awesome! I was with my daughter, my sister, and my cousin; we each had something different and we each had a taste of each other's dish. I had a taste of the organic oatmeal pancakes (very good); the chicken sausage and the chicken sausage gravy (delicious!), and the heavenly french toast (very tasty). And of course, the biscuits were mouth watering. We all enjoyed our meals and will plan to visit the Flying Biscuit on our next trip to the ATL!

What's There Not to Like about Biscuits?

By Robbie G |

We drove in from Nashville, Tennessee straight to this restaurant for breakfast to meet a client. I had the Flat Iron Steak & Eggs (steak medium rare and eggs over easy). While the steak and eggs were delicious, the grits and biscuit were the key features of this meal. The grits were creamier than I've ever had, and the biscuit was not only ginormous but it also had a sweet crust. Located in Atlanta's Rainbow district, this place is a must. Will come back.

Why is this popular let alone staying in business

By CraftBeers |

I do not get the attraction to this place. It's clearly popular, but my experience was poor. The biscuit was poorly made. It was very dry with almost no air holes. That means they did not properly use cold butter chunks that melted during the cooking process to create voids of space while infusing awesome buttery flavor expected in a biscut. The hollandaise sauce should not have been served. It was separated meaning whoever mixed the sauce did it wrong. The grits had no flavor. The midtown cocktail was served in a plastic diner cup with an odd mixture. If you want great biscuits, head over to Buttermilk Kitchen on Rosewell. They are fantastic compared to this place. I would not eat here even if I could be seated right away, which usually you can't.

Didn't Like the Flying Biscuit!

By Genevieve M |

Went a couple of months ago, didn't like the menu at all. Me and my hubby love breakfast and we were so disappointed with the food even the flying---biscuit was very hard, dry and tasteless. Please don't ask for the french toast or the chicken sausage really bad! .....Ohhh the line outside takes forever to move. I always look for the positive, and give fair reviews but sorry, I cant this time-- its really a trashy place to eat.

Family Place

By Eileen T |

Found this place for breakfast and we all loved it. Biscuits were great, pancakes and of course the apple butter jam, the grits were terrific too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good breakfast. Also, the service was so great too, nice servers.

Breakfast

By J T |

We were told about the Flying Biscuit by a local and decided to try it. Early on a Sat. morning it was packed, not to hard for a small place. The service was good and the food was quite good. They have a good menu selection and the best biscuits we have ever had outside of some homemade ones. We will eat here again if in the area.

Best breakfast ever

By cjkornfeld |

Great location, love sitting by the windows watching the world go by. The grits are amazing as is the French toast. The biscuits are the best I have ever had. But the chicken sausage beats them all. I can’t describe how good it is.

Not a fan of grits

By Bogi |

We had to wait an hour for a table in the midday heat. I had a biscuit with gravy (UK folks - it's like a scone with a creamy chicken and sausage sauce) and eggs & grits (savoury porridge). It was alright but I didn't really enjoy the heavy food with the strange mix of sweet with savoury.

WOW!!!

By Masill M |

My friends and I went out for brunch. The food was delicious! Their biscuits are too die for and the mimosas were strong. Lastly, the service was excellent. Our waitresses were friendly and attentive to our table. Definitely felt the southern hospitality people talk about at the Flying Biscuit.

Pretty good food

By Lawdrum |

Although the food was not exceptional, it was good quality and taste. The atmosphere was fun. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. I would go back for breakfast.

Good service at the bar

By JD S |

Good service at the bar, FOH manager seated us quickly for our flight. Food was great except the French toast was dry. Other than that great good.

Biscuits

By AdventureMN95 |

Plenty of seats, food was quick and out fast. I got to try true southern grits and according to my cousins they have better grits for people who have never tried it. But really the biscuit and their jam was AMAZING!

A creative bright place for breakfast

By WAMBLI2013 |

I loved the bright color and ambiance! Food was quick and delicious, coffee was very good. I would recommend this place for all. Family friendly!

Good food, very strange energy.

By Bevblouin |

I have been going to The Flying Biscuit for as long as it has been in midtown. My go to is usually the candler park location, but Midtown today. From the moment I drove up, there were bar stools on the bar which made me wonder if it was closed and I also saw a couple try to get in the door which was locked. I called while parking and was assured it was opened. I walked up to the front door and again, the door was locked. I waited at the door for a couple of minutes while at least 5-6 staff members stood around the empty bar area. The restaurant was about a 1/4 full. The host/manager came to the door and asked me if my party was here. I was still waiting on one, so he wouldn’t seat me. (totally fine, but the energy he brought was as if there was a full restaurant with a long wait list. there was not) Host/manager was not friendly and staff seemed super low energy. Weird combo. We were seated and got good service but during our time there, we saw at least 20 people come to the locked door and walk away confused about the door being locked. Eventually, a staff member would go to the door and tell them that they were open. I mean, it happened over and over. why????? how unwelcoming. Service industry???? I mean, if you are going to have a locked door, have a staff member waiting at the door so it doesn’t happen over and over again. It made for a bunch of confused patrons coming into the restaurant and created a very strange energy. Both frenetic and also just kind of lazy and not friendly. This is NOT the friendly and warm Flying Biscuit I am used to. Maybe times are changing, but I will not be headed to midtown location any time soon!

Average

By gutson84 |

The pancakes were good. I ordered the biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese also but it left a lot to be desired IMO (Esp the Bacon) Probably pass for another breakfast spot if I had to do it all over again.

Awesome little place!

By MrSotomayor |

Very unique, great decor and very good food. I was pretty impressed with the quality of food and the good prices. Decor in the bathroom is hilarious 😂

Great Breakfast Spot!

By Glena242015 |

I’m visiting friends in Georgia! I’m taken to THEIR Favorite breakfast spot which has become MY favorite breakfast spot while here! The biscuit and creamy grits are to “die for!” Also the omelette with the spicy collard greens is delicious! This eatery appears to be VERY popular as we along with many others, had to wait to be seated! I’d definitely recommend this eatery for breakfast!

We waited wayyyyy tooooo long for our food. And did not even get a biscuit.

My family of 4 waited over an hour and half to even be seated inside the restaurant. When we got there the wait time was told 30 minutes to us. We watched as other groups of 2 came after us, was seated before us, ordered, and then got their food before we were even seated. We waited, and finally decided to help sped up the process and order our food online, and hopefully by the time our food would be ready we might be seated. After ordering, and paying for our food, we were finally seated (again over an hour and half after getting there). When we got seated, the manager told us we could not stay in the restaurant to wait on our food order. Since we ordered online, we will have to wait for our order outside. At this point in the morning, there was no one waiting to come in, and they had a few empty tables. So my husband and I took our two young children outside to wait for our food. We were told at that time they would have our food ready within 5 minuets. We ended up waiting another 35 minutes for our food. And then had to eat it in the car in the parking garage. And to top it off, we did not even get biscuits with our order!!!

Below average

We went for lunch with a friend. The service was good but the food below average, I had the chicken with macaroni cheese. The biscuit was warm and tasty. Overall dirty, the windows, the floor and the surrounding space, however the toilet was clean. Not recommended.

So disappointed

After looking at the menu, a recommendation from a friend and reading other reviews I was so excited to have lunch here. I had the worst service I have ever had anywhere in my life! I served for many Years, I make a living off of gratuity, so I am not super picky and know the difference between bad & lazy service vs. someone who is super busy and in the weeds. This was horrendous and she was beyond rude. It took forever to give our order, we never got our water refilled, She never came back to the table and was nasty when I came to the counter to try to pay her. I waited forever so I thought that’s where I needed to go since she didn’t come back to get my payment. I don’t know her name because she never told us. We were there around 3:00 Thursday. The highlight was the jalapeño relish. I ordered one of the cheapest sides on the menu with my sandwich and was charged and up charge without being told, I never received half of my order, the bread on my sandwich was not fresh. I wouldn’t know about the rest because I never received it!

Very good breakfast AND lunch dishes

It had been a long time since I visited the FBC. I ate here for lunch followed by breakfast the next morning. I did not realize they had such good lunch options and thoroughly enjoyed my salmon entree. They have a number of very healthy entrees as well as freshly cooked breakfast entrees. I have not had a bad meal here. Prices are moderate and service is generally very good.

Food was good, no where to park

By James M |

This is an Atlanta hotspot so be prepared to wait! The service is ok and the food is the same. My sons omelette was over cooked the Mac and cheese was a pancake, the oatmeal pancake and high flyer meal was wonderful. Would I make it a point to go, no. Would I stop in if I saw it yes. Credit cards are accepted and lots to choose from finding someplace to park is a nightmare!

Severely Overrated!

I hate giving bad reviews and I rarely do but I can’t begin to tell you that this is the only place we’ve been in the past two days where we were treated so poorly! When we were seated, the waitress placed the menus in front of us without greeting us or even looking at us. I thought the biscuits were delicious but I ordered a fruit dish and it literally had 5 pieces of cantaloupe and 5 grapes. Not to mention, we had to chase our waitress down for a refill on coffee. Very disappointing!

Disappointed

Was looking forward to the storied food at Flying Biscuit and ended up disappointed. My crab cake benedict looked like a blob on the plate, and tasted as such. Monochrome in color and very bland. Maybe it was an off night, so hope you hit it on a good one.

Good Lunch

We went here after visiting the Botanical Garden. You have to drive around the block to get there because Piedmont is one way at this point. There is a private parking lot before the intersection on 10th that is reasonable and a short walk. We paid $5 for two hours. Even though we arrived shortly after 12, the wait was only about 10 minutes. I will warn you that you kind of feel like a sardine because they have as many tables packed in there as they can. It was packed and noisy and our waiter had a hard time hearing us. We didn't have to wait too long but our table was out of butter and we never got some (kid's plates come with a biscuit). I don't think he could hear what we wanted but I handed him the empty butter dish. I had the Berry Salad and it was delicious even with my granddaughter eating all my strawberries but one! It was plenty in fact my grandson ate about half my chicken. My daughter had the turkey burger and it was good too. It was a fun place to visit but if you are wanting a quiet relaxed meal, I would choose a different location. It was $40 plus tip for two adults and two children but we all did order tea or milk.

Location Quality Differs Greatly

Very disappointed with Roswell location. Love the taste and presentation of the chai latte in Buckhead. Latte tasted like water and looked so amateur. I do much better at home. Ordered a half dozen biscuits for the bruch at home. Tasteless hard biscuits for their signature item! Location makes a big difference.

Delicious!

The food was the best meal I’ve had in a while. I got the scrambled eggs with creamy grits and a buttermilk pancake. The pancake came with pecan butter Everything comes with a biscuit with cranberry apple butter yum!😋

I won't never step foot in there again

The service was terrible to say the least! They seated me in the corner of the restaurant, where I waited 30 minutes for a waitress to take my order but that didn't happen. The waitresses walked pass my like i didn't exist. I could understand if it was full and they were busy but that wasn't the case. I guess I was expecting too much. No worries I never go back

Just OK

Based on the number of people waiting we were expecting a little more I guess. I ordered the Big Cheesy Patty melt.. hmm let's start with Big.. only thing big was the bread and price. Advertising a half pound of meat or two 1/4lb patties. Mine had two flat pieces of meat.. more flat than a big mac meat. Grilled onions? I counted 8 diced little pieces.. 2 pickle chips... cheesy? A small drizzle that most was on the side of bread and a little on the plate. Now my son in law had chicken strips with gravy over them on a biscuit that looked pretty good. They didn't have any hot speciality drinks.. something was broke. Just be careful what you order I guess. I don't complain in places.. I just make other decisions in the future.

Just Okay

Breakfast was good but nothing special. Atmosphere is comfortable and lively. The service was average. I felt that it was expensive for what we got.

Quick breakfast

By ed w |

My son and I dropped in for a quick bite between doctors appointments I had the French toast and chicken sausage and he had a egg deluxe plate I think. Anyway both were delicious and we will be back. Service was great too.

Kiss my grits! (Or at least the person who made them!) It was AWESOME!

By Laura M |

Such a wonderful stop for breakfast! I went with their Famous Flying Biscuit Breakfast that had eggs, chicken sausage, a biscuit and their creamy, dreamy grits(the actual name!). I am not a grits person. Their grits were awesome!! With cheese already in them, seasoned just right and creamy as all get out! I became a Southern Girl with one bite! 🤣 Chicken Sausage was devine. The eggs were eggs - but they were simple and delish. There were no pics because we ate the meal so fast (and I was mesmerized by the grits), I forgot to take a photo! Worth a stop - get there early because they are restricting the number of diners due to Covid!

A first glance...

By Beach Bum Oasis Travel |

Looking at the menu at first glance the options don’t look appetizing. I decided to go with the Hollywood omelet and a side of French toast! Best choice ever!!! The omelet comes with a side of your choice (I chose fruit) and a biscuit. The biscuit is so dense yet still very fluffy. Ate every bite!

Highs and lows

We stopped at the Midtown location around 10:30 on a Sunday and waited about 30 mins to get in. Decided to order biscuits and gravy as an app, and glad we did because it was the highlight of our breakfast. The grits are good as week. However, after waiting about 40 mins for the rest of our breakfast, it was disappointing. My scrambled eggs were way over cooked, the sausage was as well, and French toast was ‘meh’. They had other good looking food on the menu, but our experience just wasn’t that great.

What a let down after the FB in Gainesville!

By Christy C |

After swooning over the FB in Gainesville, Fla., we were excited to take my Atlanta resident son to the Midtown loc. Atmosphere is hip, yet dingy and depressing. While the restaurants across the street were busting with patrons, there was only one other table occupied. The food was tasty but the portions were tiny and not a lot of care was put into the meal. Service was moderately fast and friendly.
