We had two takeout meals from here as it was opposite our hotel so we had one lunch and dinner one night when we were too tired to go out. We had bento boxes - they were great. Also yaki udon - pretty good. Food was prepared quickly and the portions were big. Can recommend

This sushi is just like being in Japan. It's amazing. If you like sushi then this is your place. The staff is friendly and can help you order if you're new to sushi. The fish is amazingly fresh and delicious.

Tried there delicious Seafood Ramen dish. Attentive staff food came out quickly. The restaurant is located in the right spot in the middle of everything that is happening.

When I travel I try to find great Sushi. I stumbled into here one evening and was blown away by the quality and tastiness of the sushi I chose to order. It is one of my return to places each time I am in the city.

We eat Sushi frequently and decided to try this place. Very tasty. Fresh good quality and friendly service. Drop by and indulge.

The sushi was good and fresh and the menu had a nice selection. We thought the size of the sushi rolls was way too large. We eat a lot of sushi and I’ve never seen them so big. Difficult to handle with chopsticks. The vibe here was missing something. Only two other customers in the restaurant and one family got up and left after reviewing the menu. I thought the prices even for touristy Fisherman’s Wharf were a bit high. We didn’t get much for $80. I think there are other options in the area. The sushi was good, but pricy and the place lacked an enjoyable dinner experience.

Reasonably good and tasty food, but the price was exaggerated. We are a small family - two adults and two kids, and it cost us $179.24 !!! We could eat four meals for this money in a normal place. Watch out!

I loved that there were so many combinations/variations of rolls that could be ordered, you can satisfy all personal tastes and create curiosity for new combinations. I went for the local names, "San Francisco" & "Golden Gate Bridge". Rolls are filling and delicious.

Great sushi well presented the place isnt that elegant looking but the food is stunning. Fresh tasty well presented and a good size portion ate myself silly here.

OK Sushi, but absolutely nothing for the younger kids (unless the eat Sushi). Quite pricey, but there is a good variety of Sushi.

The food is better than the outside appearance. We choose a mixed sushi plate and asked the Chef to change one of the rolls, to suit our taste. He changed it for us and we enjoyed our dinner. The restaurant itself is a little dated, but don't let that put you off.

Excellent, fresh Japanese fare. The service is wonderful and friendly. We were there for lunch on several occasions and the food was tasty, well presented and represented very good value for what you got. the Bento Box is terrific. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stopped by to grab a quick bit while walking around, We ordered two rolls and they were okay but nothing spectacular. We ordered just a basic california roll and we ordered their San Francisco roll. Like I said, both were good but neither were that special. It was good to grab a quick bite, but I don't think we'll be back. The service was good and it's possible that just ordered the wrong rolls, but either way, it wasn't great.

Food here is really great - proper authentic Asian cuisine. We had sushi, noodles and a ramen and they were all fantastic.

As three adult sushi lovers we enjoyed our meal. While they did not have uni to my husband's disappointment the salmon was delicious and we certainly filled ourselves for a reasonable price. It was very close to our hotel so we could easily walk there.

Newly opened in the renovated Canary Bldg on the Embarcadero in San Francisco in the Fisherman's Wharf district, this was a lucky find. Exposed brick walls with large windows provided a nice ambiance, which was unfortunately marred by over-loud music. Our sashimi combo was beautifully plated with thin noodles and delicious miso soup. At 12 pieces for $16 the value was good. Seafood Ramen with spicy tuna roll for $14 was also delicious and the soup was chock full of a variety of seafood. The all-Asian waitstaff was excellent.

Very friendly staff. The bento box was delicious. I also liked that I could decide on the compilation myself. There was another soup for an appetizer. Ambience: pleasant Price / performance: ok to recommend: yes

The sushi here was very fresh. We tried the gyoza, which was quite good, but the same that you'll get pretty much anywhere. The sushi shined though. We had the double tempura roll, which was so good! The fish was the freshest I've ever had. The spicy mayo was very good also. We had another roll that was stacked and full of spicy tuna (I can't remember the name of it). This one also had the spicy mayo, and was delicious! No line to get in, service was good. Bathroom could use work...🤢 but overall a very good place - would go back!

Had the Nigiri combo which was fine as were the gyoza. The sushi rice was wrong, soya bottles have been refilled with cheap soya. No Kikkoman sauce here; light and dark are one in the same. Green tea is Lipton's crap and not in any way Japanese. Miso soup came at the end of the meal and appetizers were served with the main course. The place isn't busy so I don't know why they hump all the food together so that none can be enjoyed. Note to the wise, they charge a standing 18% gratuity to the bill automatically no matter how bad the service. Once you get the bill there is also a gratuity line added for those unaware that they've already been dinged a ton for poor service. Careful or you may tip 35-38% if you don't notice. It certainly isn't worth that at all. Very deceptive practice in this day and age.

My wife and I saw this place while walking to the wharf and went in. We ordered the octopus, salmon, and California rolls and it was the best most freshest sushi that I have ever had and if SF again I'll be back for more. I would highly recommend taking a stop in here you won't be disappointed.

We stopped in this place whilst walking around fisherman's wharf. First we stopped on the terrace then we moved inside. Sushis and sashimi were great. Service was also great. We enjoyed this place. The check totaled $200 for 5 including drinks and soups which was correct taking into account the amount of food served.

We were grateful to squeeze in before closing time, but with mixed results. Extensive sushi menu some some dishes were much nicer than others. One of them was really sloppy. Sorry to say that would not go back.

Great place for a quick bite to each. Nice fresh sushi and friendly staff. My tuna was particularly delicious!

The sushi was great and the service. I was surprised about the restaurant decorations, nothing about them indicated that you were in a suhi bar. It rather felt like a sportsbar, but then when the sushi came out it was excellent! Recommend it

I truly was average. No better or worse just average! We tried a range of dishes but they were all just average.

Was there this past December with the family. Good service and good sushi. Nothing impressed me, but it was good enough to visit again.

I had lunch here while visiting Fishermans wharf. Ambiance and building is nice and the team are friendly, reserved and attentive. I had a combo for lunch of chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki. Beef was of great quality. Only downside was box took ages to come and the place was not busy. I would def visit again.

Considering the location is at Fisherman‘s Wharf you get value for you money. I spend the week for business in SF and this was the first restaurant that I considered visiting again AND could afford privately. So I did. The hospitality is great and the food was delicious. I will for sure visit again.

Tired of crabs and clams I decided to visit Flying Ninja and was pleased by the results. There were quite a few options for rolls so I picked the Shrek roll (good), the Bay Scallop (baked) roll (really good) and the XXX (really good). Empty for a Tuesday night but overall a nice experience.

Awesome manager/owner/server with a huge menu for all eating requests. Good selection of beer and saki with a quaint outside patio. Definitely would return! Thanks for a good night.

We had great service and enjoyed our sushi dinner. the restaurant was clean and the server very attentive. the portions were good and the quality excellent.

This small, pretty sushi restaurant is easily overlooked amidst the excitement of the larger restaurants, but please don't skip this place. We were attracted here by the greenery and the menu, and were impressed by our entire experience. The menu is pretty big, and everything we ordered was delicious. The sweet potato roll and the futo roll were both delicious, and our waitress was patient when we lingered over our meal. Definitely a good find!

Don’t know if we got these guys on a bad day but despite the best efforts of the lady at the front desk, the chef clearly just did not want to be there. We ordered 5 meals and couldn’t eat 4 of them because the fish was so stale that it smelled bad and had gone dry and dark on the edges. Really poor quality, especially for somewhere so close to the sea

Our food was very good, however after we got settled and had ordered I noticed that the restaurant was not very clean. This is in a high traffic area of Fisherman's Wharf and was busy the whole time we were there. After we ate I used the bathroom before leaving. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. If I had gone in there before eating I would not have stayed!

My fiancée and I visited Flying Ninja Sushi on Easter Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised they were open. Service was good and fast and the sushi was amazing! The Lion King roll was our absolute favorite. We also really enjoyed Seattle roll and Bay scallop roll. The chef special was great, the waitress asked what we liked and did not like and the sushi chef made special rolls for us. I travel quite extensively and love sushi. Flying Ninja was the best sushi I have had in quite a while. I won't be back in San Francisco until October but I plan on getting more sushi then!

The sushi was really good and fresh. The waiter was friendly and quick. The only minus was the dirty table we had to eat from. All was very sticky.

I ate at the Flying Ninja 5 times in 5 days :) On each occasion the food was both fresh and tasty. I tried - teriyaki chicken, and beef; tempura; gyoza; miso; and, vegetarian California rolls; and green tea. All of the afore mentioned dishes were really lovely, and accompanying salad was crisp, and the dressing delicious. The restaurant is "L" shaped, with both bar type seating, and at tables. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would love to have the Flying Ninja as my local Japanese Restaurant.

Spouse and I walked by and gave it a whirl. Very good, fresh, sushi. Let the chef steer you to something. Different catch every day I was told and I was not disappointed in the yellow fin. Prices are reasonable and beer was cold and tasty. Only down side was no AMEX accepted. No points for this meal! Go check it out after riding the Cable Car down.

Delicious, would definitely go there again. Fresh & tasty sushi, & good service. This is a must-try & was close to the hotel we stayed at, so it was great placement too.

Delicious! The sushi was excellent, fresh and tasty. Quick service, friendly staff. Best restaurant on fisherman's wharf.

Went here because It was close to the cruise ship. Its really good sushi, but maybe not worth the cost. Its rather expensive honestly even if it tastes pretty good, i dont think it's worth the price.

Enjoyed the food and the sunshine at this restaurant. Good service and a noce terract to eat outside.

We had a lovely sushi lunch at this place. The menu is big and they offer a big variaty in sushi's. Nicely located in Fisherman's Wharf.

Unsure what to choose, I told the sushi chef what types of fish/rolls I like and he put together an absolutely delicious "chef's choice" role with 4 types of fish and 2 sauces. The quality of the fish was excellent-very tender and generous cuts. The price is a bit higher than average, but that is to be expected in San Francisco.

Good food, nice people, clean place. You can sit inside, outside or at the bar. In addition to the Japanese food, they serve a series of Sake and Green Teas.

The Bento boxes give particularly good value. The menu has something for everyone and the Special Rolls are worth checking out.

You would be better to head further into town to try and get a better deal. Food was good though and the service was quite friendly. I had three dishes and one glass of wine and it was over $40 it was given more expensive than the UK

Within the group there were very happy people, and not so happy. However you can’t doubt the quality of the food, and the menu is huge. Probably a little over priced.

This was a nice change of pace. We went here to grab sushi but ended up getting ramen. Was a little chilly out so the warm ramen was just what we needed.

Stopped in for lunch and we’re not disappointed with the variety of sushi dishes on offer for a family of 4 with different tastes. Tuna rolls were particularly good. Service was also excellent.

Amazingly fresh sushi. The fattest rolls I have ever been served. The Chirashi had a nice selection of sashimi. The service was great. Would eat here again in a second.

Stopped in for an early dinner and it was quiet on a week night- it is located in a less busy end of the Wharf. Staff were very attentive, made suggestions for sake. It isn't fancy but we enjoyed the experience and the food. Ordered three rolls - the presentation was nice, service was prompt and the flavor was great - hot sauce was especially nice. We would definitely have eaten there again - enjoyed it very much - though have to confess we went for rolls that may not be traditional - sunset roll had shrimp tempura with salmon, tuna, avocado and cucumber. Had one with tempura chicken that was different and very nice, and a veggie combo one. Left us wanting more!

Nice located to watch people go by, very attentive staff. Sushi was okay, chicken and rice dish was slightly below average.

Keep expectations low... and you'll be fine! For a tourist sushi resto by Pier 39, you'd hope for better but it's not the case. Sushi / Sashimi was overly wet, like they forgot to towel-off the moisture from the fish or there was too much water on the prep surface. The wasabi lacked punch. It was all edible but you'd expect more in san fran. Udon noodle and broth was nice + simple. Service was friendly. Location is great, next to Pier 39 and Hyde in the old Del Monte cannery district.

Just visited this establishment. One waitress running around and one chef. We are from Nyc and have traveled around the world but let me tell you this place is awful. Food is disgusting; dust everywhere. My husband got sick right after we left. Avoid ......

This is a cute little restaraunt in the Fisherman's wharf area. Nice staff, clean restaurant, lots of windows, so you get good lighting. I had a Caterpillar , Sake Nigiri, and Hamachi Nigiri. The Caterpillar was excellent. The nigiris, not so much. They didn't taste fresh, a little on the strong side. Will I go back? Not sure. If I do, I don't think I will order any nigiri, just rolls.

Okay, it was late, they where closing up, so I ordered quickly, the bento box was a good way of getting fed, but they didn't got it right, the sushi was oversized and the tempura of vegetables was a bit weird, the beef was okay, but I don't think it's fresh. Well I got food when I needed it, they didn't overcharged me, so okay

We went there for a light supper and that is exactly what we got with edamame beans, a sashimi and sushi combo and miso soup - it was authentic but not fabulous. Service was good but closing at 9 pm is a bit of a shame as we were hurried out. If you want bog standard Japanese at a reasonable price in a notoriously pricey area - this fits the bill.

This is quick and easy, but with quality and good pricing! We were staying nearby and had walked passed it earlier in the day. The service was great, attentive and welcoming. We ordered 2 lots of rolls, the ‘shrek’ and the ‘golden gate’ to share, plus some tempura prawns. The food came out relatively quickly, not fast enough to be completely pre-prepared, but no longer than it needed. The fish was fresh! Brilliant sushi, well worth stopping by!

Went there by chance. Sushi was 1st class, better than Nobu but at a regular sushi bar price. We had a selection of food and everything was superb.

Wonderful fresh food served by great staff. They do have contactless ordering and payment but wifi is touch and go. This was one of our best meals in SF.

Stopped in here while staying next-door at the argonaut hotel. The waitress had wonderful selections for sushi and soup. It’s in an out side and in joy today nice sunny lunch. It was very enjoyable and it was fantastic. And when enjoyed all of her suggestions and the sushi was wonderfully fresh and perfectly prepared. Lunch for two with no booze was $60 for food. Well worth a stamp for sure. Not to change and they really know how to make food here. Give them a try

A typical Japanese sushi place. The sushi was good. Nothing special. Our waitress was very nice and it was quiet.

Stopped by for an afternoon sushi roll. My wife and I enjoyed the SF roll which was quite fresh and tasty.

I guess Flying Ninja is the English translation of expensive and poorly made Japanese food. I had the seafood ramen and was disappointed at the two prawns I got and the poor quality noodles. Not everything was bad. The service was friendly, efficient. Unfortunately the whole thing was let down by the poor food. Avoid.

The Sushi was good (not great) and it was a little expensive. That being said, I've been there 3 times. The staff is nice and they make it really fun.

I was quite surprised that Fisherman's Wharf had a sushi bar in the area. But this has to be by far the best sushi I've ever had. I believe it was the Volcano roll that was to die for. And the servers were the nicest staff as well. A def go to spot if you're craving good sushi.

It is not very exciting. We got a comb entree. A lot of rice in the rolls. The spicy tuna was inedible. Ick.

I love sushi and was so excited to enjoy it in San Francisco. Flying Ninja Sushi was fine but we weren't overly impressed. The rolls we ordered all had a spicy mayo on the top and it just overpowered the taste of the roll completely and they tasted the same.

Given there are not very many great reviews for restaurants in Fishermans wharf, This was some of the freshest, most creative sushi I have ever eaten.

The staff was excellent! The atmosphere was nothing out of the ordinary. And the sushi was fast and good-I wouldn't go as far as to say great...but good. However, we were staying at the hotel next too it and were craving sushi.

This is an average restaurant for Sushi and Asian food. It is the Fisherman Wharf tourist are, so if you have the time go out side the tourist area and look for a better place.

When we checked rating of this cafe we couldn't expect our dinner to be so tasty. For sure, it was our best sushi-rolls ever. Hope to visit this place again;)

we had fantastic sushi in a little place close to wharf and enjoyed it immensely. The sushi chef was super friendly and fast and it was a nice break from the chaos outside

Great little place with a sunny sushi bar and even outdoor seating right near Fisherman's Wharf. Sushi is prepared fresh and other Japanese items available like tempura. Fast, courteous service, fresh sushi rolls and Japanese beer. Yum!

Great miso soup. Had 2 rolls both had good flavor but fell apart because the circumference was too big! Sashimi was ok, not great. Tempura veggies were pretty good. All in all ok. Worth going if you want sushi in Wharf area and don't know where to go.

Bought three lots of six sushi rolls. Too many for two of us. Two lots would have been better. Nevertheless they were excellent and fresh as a daisy and reasonable value as was the beer.

Flying Ninja is located right off Jefferson Street on Fisherman's Wharf. I gave up on trying to eat rice to keep my hair black, now I stick to sashimi. I had the octopus and the salmon and the chef threw in salmon roe for free. The sashimi was fresh as one would expect at Fisherman's Wharf. The bill was $53 with appropriate gratuity. Not a cheap restaurant but after countless Dungeness crabs and clam chowders, this was a welcome change.

Flying Ninja offers sushis, sashimis and ramen soup in a bar atmosphere with a th screen and music played in the background. The menu includes good vegeterian alternatives. Good place for a quick informal stop.

Chicken teriyaki was the worst that we have ever had and the values sushi rolls that we tried were below average at best. Avoid this restaurant.

We stopped in Wednesday night and loved it so much we went back for lunch! The chef was awesome! He kept making us samples to try!!

We were absolutely blessed to happen upon this gem. We were greeted with a friendly smile and sat at the sushi bar. The fish was displayed beautifully and the sushi chef immediately made our selection - crisp white coat and brilliantly sharp knife. We had the lunch chirachi selection - the fish selected was divine and a really lovely sampling. Miso some of the best I've ever had ( I worked in Japan for 2 years)....... The chef was delightful - and then proceeded to make us a dish of Crispy Salmon Skin with cucumber and chili that was his treat for us. My GOD it was unbelievable. What a great experience.

The food, service, and location are great! The only reason it didn't get 5-stars is that some of the restaurant was a little unkept. Still would recommend though!

I love sushi and try to have it as often as my wallet can allow it. If you're visiting Fishermans wharf, check out flying ninja, the fish is very fresh and the wait staff is nice and friendly.

If you like sushi, fresh sushi, clever rolls and great service....this is your Sushi place. The house sake was good too. We actually ate here twice because it was so delicious. Don't walk by this place. It is a destination joint!

The restaurant is ideally located. Service is fast. Typical Asian food at a reasonable price. The decor is not that great.

We had only a few minutes to kill waiting for the Fire Engine tour so sat down here for a quick bite of lunch. Friendly efficient waitress brought good sushi rolls and we still managed to make our tour.

This was probably the worst sushi I've had in California, and I've eaten a lot of sushi here! I had a seaweed salad that was very bland (not acidic enough) and a rainbow roll that was just no good. The only thing that saves this place is the service, which was truly wonderful. I was greeted with big smiles the moment I stepped in, and the waitress was literally running around to tend to all the costumers promptly.

So much to choose from, I'm disappointed that we only went once! Freshly made to order and tasty. Definitely worth a visit!

We were wanting Sushi in SF and saw this place near Fisherman's Wharf. Not a big place, and not many people were there when we were, but the Sushi was AWESOME. We had a crunchy California roll and then ordered another. They were made fresh and it was very quick service. Very good! I agree that the bathroom was not very clean, but I only washed my hands there. That seemed to be a safe thing to do...

This was right next to our hotel in Fisherman's wharf and we decided for a quick feed in between walking around. Glad we stopped, as the food was so tasty. Good portions, lots of variety in taste and nice friendly service. The menu was more extensive than we first thought, but we had some really good options and we ate it all, which is always a good sign. Reasonable priced too, so highly recommended

Right in the heart of Fishermans wharf, they have great service and go out of their way to make sure your food is satisfactory. They give you a ton of food do make sure you are hungry!

i have been several times to this place and i will go again The soup is amazing and as i am vegetarian they accommodated me without any issues

The food was ok. Sake warm. But charged extra for a basic sushi condiment. .50cents for a tiny little bit of spicy mayo. Poor judgement in nickeling the customer. Here for a week but won't be back.ill spend my 32 bucks elsewhere next time!

We both had ramen to help us warm up, as it was a typically damp, foggy San Francisco evening. The veggie ramen had a couple small pieces of what was either cabbage or lettuce floating around in it, and one skinny slice of preserved radish. And that's all. The seafood ramen had maybe 3 or 4 calimari rings, one mussel and 2 or 3 small pieces of undistinguished fish. Total cost for these 2 weak items was $27, which would have been acceptable for a tourist place if they hadn't been such profoundly stingy servings of average quality. Besides the skimpy food, the other serious problem was presenting the bill with an 18% service charge added to what appeared to be the final amount owed. While its now common to see calculated tip amounts appear on the bottom of your bill, clearly separated from the food, beverage and tax charges, we found an 18% service charge added to the total and included in the large, bold faced total amount. That's very misleading and not acceptable. Its a tourist place and the management probably feels that they won't see many return customers anyway. But by handling their business in these poor ways, they can be sure of it in our case.

Happened across The Flying Ninja mid afternoon last week, and am very glad that I did! The sashimi was fresh, delicious and presented well. The waitress was spot on with refills on the tea without having to ask. The place has a light and airy feel to it with the large windows. I figured that the prices would be jacked up due to the location, but was pleasantly surprised. All in all, a great experience.

This was just great. Sit at the counter and observe the ritual of sushi creation. The various dishes I was were brilliant. Best was the 'Golden Gate Bridge', even better when you've observed its making. Would go back here again

Very good service and friendly people and very tasty Sushi Can only recommend this restaurant Outside seating area in the Canery We had a starter and then various Sushi also the Ninja special called „ cable car“

Upon being seated we were told it was 20 minutes to closing time. No biggie, it was just two of us and we knew what we wanted. We order a side of steamed rice, two orders of Maki rolls and a few pieces of Nigiri. I felt the portions were good and sushi was fresh and it was reasonably priced. We did feel rushed to eat and pay before the 9pm closing time but were fully aware of it.

The sushi rolls was delicious! You definitely get what you paid for! The waiters and bartenders are very friendly! Great atmosphere!

This is where Tripadvisor's starting system bothers me - this place was good (better than average), but not quite "very good". I'm feeling generous though, so I'll give them the 4 stars as it was certainly better than a lot of the food nearby. The sushi was fresh and tasty, but the maki rolls all had a mayo type dressing on them, so this may have added a lot of the flavour too. I ate here twice as it was convenient. Both times the restaurant was quiet and lacked atmosphere and character. The service was good the first day and very slow and inattentive the second. I would forgive that to eat here again though and if TA had a rating between average and very good, I would choose it.

I ordered a pickup from here and was disappointed. I paid 30+ dollars just to get 8 rolls when I paid for both a Volcano roll and a shrimp tempura. On top of that they put both the rolls in the same container and not separately. I’m not too sure if ordering inside would be better but i don’t recommend this place at all.

Service here was really great. Portion sizes were large. Between two we had a bento box, sashimi and calamari and it was too much for lunch but good value. I didn’t love the spicy tuna rolls and the teriyaki chicken was a little cold coming out so giving it a four but everything else was good.

I Wish I was there now! Been there 3 or more time, they are great and very fresh! Highly Recommeded! Pardon the spelling :)

OMG what a great surprise this little sushi place near our hotel was! This was the fastest service we ever got (I mean, ever!!!!) and the menu was soooo delicious and fish tasted really fresh! We recommend: Gyoza, Salmon Tataki and Salmon Delight rolls. For lunch or dinner, a very good option.

Nice little spot on Fisherman’s Wharf. Service was fast, the food was great. We enjoyed the Lava sushi dish very much. The other dishes were good too. Only downside was the price, but then I guess it’s right in the heart of the tourist area, so to be expected.

We were staying close by and were too tired to venture far from our hotel. Although very hesitant to go to a sushi restaurant in such a touristy area, we were pleasantly surprised. We visited on a Monday evening and ordered a Golden Gate Bridge roll, 2 other roll, shrimp tempura, kappa maki roll, edamame and gyoza. Service was pleasant and all of the food was really lovely. The tuna nigiri seemed very nice and fresh. Overall, not a bad place to grab some sushi in this area.

Took the family to Flying Ninja for the obligatory sushi dinner when on holiday, but was left underwhelmed. Ambiance was fair, prices were fair, but the sushi was a little on the flat side in terms of quality. My wife's bento box was similarly very average. So, not in any way terrible, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to eat at.

Went there for a lunch with the friends. The food is great, the personal is very friendly. I do recommended this place to everyone :-)

On a Saturday night, most restaurants along the Fisherman's Wharf are quite busy. I had eaten a late lunch so wasn't especially hungry. This place was almost empty and I enjoy Japanese food, so thought I'd give it a try. I figured it was empty because most visitors probably like to try the more local spots serving seafood and claim chowder. I was by myself, and immediately shown to the sushi bar, even though there were plenty of tables. I ordered Chicken Donburi and a small hot sake. The staff was not friendly. The food was not very good, and even the sake wasn't enjoyable. An 18% tip was added for me to the check. I didn't have a choice about that. I had recently had this same dish at a Japanese restaurant in my hometown, which was deliciously prepared. This one was definitely not the same or similar at all. I nibbled and left most of it. I eat alone often and restaurants that immediately try to seat me at the bar really are doing a disservice to their solo diners. We like to eat out and relax and often tip well on our own. During non busy times, seating a solo diner at a table feels more welcoming than being placed at the bar. This was an overall disappointing place. However, the couple next to me at the bar had sushi and they mentioned how much they enjoyed it. So I recommend this place with caution. It might have been an off night for me since I wasn't too hungry to begin with. For others, it could be an excellent choice.

I asked the concierge at the Argonaut hotel where I was staying if there was a good sushi place nearby. He recommended the Flying Ninja. When I went in, I was the only person there. This made me a bit nervous as this is never a good sign at a restaurant. I sat at the sushi bar, and was greeted by the sushi chef and the waitress. I selected a delicious bottle of saki with the help off the waitress. I ordered several house special rolls which were very fresh and tasty. I also had hand rolls and sushi. The halibut sushi was super-fresh and delicious. The sweet shrimp served with the fried shrimp heads was another fantastic dish. As I dined, several groups of people came in for dinner. This made me feel better, since I was not the only person there. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes I ate there!

We were at the Fishermans Wharf and looking to get Sushi. We discovered the Flying Ninja. We had rolls and they were average. I guess if we would of ventured to Japantown, we would of got a lot better. The prices are average and the service was good. We sat outside and enjoyed the foot traffic. There's a Ben and Jerry's next door, so you can get dessert there. Overall just an average place to eat, not bad and not great, just right and the price will not kill your wallet.

Arrived and was not told about the 15% service charge for 2 of us! Food was good but not the best sushi we've had. The place looks like it could do with a clean as table was sticky. Cost $53 for 18 pieces!!!!!!!! No reservations taken just turn up and only open until 9pm. I would try elsewhere next time!!!

Enjoyed a nice lunch away from the crowds in the Cannery plaza. The Golden Gate & Crispy rolls were delightful. Service excellent.

Great food and service, the outdoor area was comfortable. The ability to order at the table with the QR code made it quick and easy! Will definitely be back again.

This is a nice clean place with friendly and attentive staff. The place was empty when I arrived (about 7:30 pm) and there was little customer traffic during the hour that I stayed. I ordered a bento box with a sushi roll and some teriyaki chicken, which was delivered in a timely manner. Overall, it was decent, but I guess I expected more given the San Francisco location. The sushi was lacking in flavor, so I wound up using more soy and wasabi than usual just to get some taste. I will try them again next time I'm in the area, but I'll focus on some different rolls.

Our experience was good. We walked up after doing some sight seeing and ordered so we could take it back to our hotel. The sushi, and the fried rice were both delicious, and had me wishing we had ordered more of each. Even though they appeared to be busy, the wait was minimal and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Loved the sushi so much I ended up eating there every night I was in San Francisco last week. I appreciate that they have outdoor searing so I feel safe eating out.

Fast service and fresh sushi. I had gone to a couple different sushi bars while in SF and this was defiantly the better of the two. Good size portions that were not all rice.

We had multiple sushi picks and the waitress recommended a combo box with a better deal. When the bill came we saw the extra charge so asked her about her. She told us that it was possibly a miscommunication and 'to let it go'. Well, that was the first time ever we let the tip go. The sushi was average.

The restaurant offer a variety range of sushi with ok price. Worth a try since they're tasty and probably a safe choice for sushi lover. Since the restaurant rather small, the food was fast to serve. Not a fancy designed place but in a good location where you can take a walk and check out all the good shop after meal.

The Flying Ninja was convenient for the hotel I was at. Fairly standard menu but good sushi. I'd happily eat here again.

We asked for a bottle of white wine : nobe of the regular wines were available. Only a few expensive onces, the waitress said. We agreed on the white house wine. We received two glassed of wine that had the colour of a rosé, but the waitress claimed it was white wine. I'm not an expert in Californian wine, but this tasted like cheap rosé to us. My wife called it fruitjuice... I returned it, and found an alternative in the sake. My wife settled for water. The beer alternatives were all japanees or chinees. We loved the special sushi's. One remark however: same spicy sauce used over different rolls. Allthough we liked it, it does kill the natural tast of the roll itself. A bit of a shame.

absolutely amazing food, very good service, food came really really quick, lovely environment, really recommend it!!

The Flying Ninja is a nice, cozy Japanese and Korean restaurant near the Fishermans wharf area of San Francisco. We really welcomed having friendly service and delicious food. The korean bulgogi was great.

If you love fresh sashimi, then dining at the Flying Ninja is a must. We ordered a sushi platter for two which served more than two people and contained several different nigiri. The fish was extremely fresh and as usual, their presentation was top notch. Since San Francisco was cold that evening, we all had a bowl of ramen (noodles w/hot soup) as well which was very tasty and hit the spot. We look forward to dining there again on our next trip.

My husband is 50% Japanese so our boys (12 & 14) have eaten out at a lot of Asian restaurants and can easily tell the difference in quality. The whole family loved this place! Staff was nice. Right in Cannery - convenient 2 blocks from our hotel (Courtyard Fisherman's Wharf).

My wife and I happened upon this "gem" when staying at the Argonaut Hotel down the road. We first stopped at the Blue Oyster but after standing at the "wait to be seated" sign for 5mins with no attention, we left. Thankfully we did as we walked straight into Flying Ninja, sat down, and had great sushi, sashimi, tempura and Kirin beer in front of us within a few minutes. The service and food was so good we came back for lunch the next day while on a bus tour. Having had sushi all over the world, including Japan, we can confirm that the freshness and quality of the product was superb.

I ordered a couple of special rolls to go, and they were very good. I was just surprised by the price for 2 rolls. Worth a go, and nice that they do sushi to go.

After having been to a sushi place at Pier 39, we stopped in here for a quick lunch and it was delicious. Possibly some of the best sushi I have ever had... Would absolutely recommend the Crispy California rolls.

They are at the Fisherman's Wharf area so parking can be tricky but if you're already in the neighborhood I highly recommend them if you're in the mood for sushi. The waitress was very accomodating considering part of our party was an hour late and the food was delicious. The prices were reasonable for the area in a sit down restaurant. I'd certainly go back again.

We did carry-out so I can't speak for the service, but everyone was friendly and the interior is trendy. The menu has the old standbys as well as some very inventive (and tasty) rolls. I've never had lemon peel incorporated into a sushi roll, it was great!

Very good restaurant serving GREAT sushi, we visited a few times as it was close to our hotel. The sushi was very fresh and we also liked the bento box that you can fully customize. Perfect for a low key meal after a full day of sightseeing.

The food was inexpensive, simple and very nice. Good for a light lunch or quick snack. Includes nice hot and cold selections. Also good for vegetarians.

I wouldn't go here again. The food was ok but quite ordinary but the staff! Completely disinterested in us and quite dismissive. Really, I wouldn't bother with this if I were you. There are lots of far more fun and interesting places nearby.

Walking past to our booked meal elsewhere and noticed a special deal on oysters. Was tempted by this so popped in for some oysters and the jalapeño starters. The food was delicious and the services was really lovely and welcoming. Well worth a visit.

if u wanna eat fast u are welcome! Restaurant is not so big, they cook fast, u don't need to wait! Menu also pretty big! Yes it s not a super Japanese restaurant, so don't expect a lot!

Delicious sushi and friendly service and open at lunch. We appreciated the variety of their own rolls. Scrumptious!

A bit underrated i believe as you will get good sushi for a reasonable price at a very nice location. Don't expect the best sushi you ever had but if you want something else beside a burger without emtying your wallet this is the place.

Close to the Wharf. It is pricey - bento box at lunch is $19+. Inside the Cannery Shopping Center. Service was friendly.

Amidst many tourist oriented restaurants this sushi place is quite reasonable. We actually came back twice.
Flying high
Very good vegetable tempura and a ‘golden gate’ tuna roll to start. Then chicken Katsu curry - tasty and filling. Service is speedy so it’s a good idea to order a main course after you have had a starter. The house wine had no description at all apart from being red or white but is was quite acceptable. It was warm to sit outside in the little courtyard which was pleasant . Two starters, two mains, three glasses of wine ( $10 a glass ). Total bill $120 plus tip.
