Lovely location

By Wanderlust3483 |

Had a couple of cocktails while we were staying in this hotel. It's a nice place with a good view and decent cocktails. Clearly a place to dress up and make reservations for. It's convenient if staying in the hotel and central to downtown Seattle.

It was a great view

By Steve Lewis |

In 2018, you could see the see. Now, the high rise building under construction blocks the view. You can still get some view. Cocktails and bites are great

great setting for a happy hour and sunset

By KCLizard |

This bar is at the top of the Charter Hotel, and it has a cool vibe with a great view. We had appetizers, desserts, and drinks on different days while staying there, and we enjoyed the fire pit. The desserts were a little disappointing for the price (one was basically a chocolate dipped vanilla popsicle, and the only other one was a panna cotta with a nice presentation). The apps and drinks were good, and our servers were attentive. The booming club music made it tough to talk with our friends, and they could have toned it down some, but it seems to be necessary these days. They had a nice collection of bourbons and ryes. I would mostly go for the views and drinks in the hour before and after sunset.

Amazing View

Amazing location! The patio restaurant overlooking the harbor and city was a treat! The oyster special was very good, the salad was great! A very good drink selection.

Great Spot to Take in the Sunset and Views of Seattle

By GGWD |

We just had two beers, both were supposed to be Belgian Wheat but were actually Sours so I was not really happy with the Beers, but the decor, atmosphere and views were awesome so I'd still give them solid reviews. Beers are fairly reasonably priced but everything else is fairly expensive, with most wines in the $15 and up per glass range and most bottles $50 and up (or much more). Drinks were around $12 or so on average as I recall. Fun place, but a bit expensive. Located on the roof of the Charter Hotel is which quite an excellent Hotel!

Pass…….

By sharrongeg |

We were guests at the Charter Hotel Seattle in the same building. We got to the Fog Room at about 5:30 (it opens at 5) and it was mostly empty. Hostess made a big deal that we didn’t have a reservation, but admitted she could squeeze us in. We were served water very quickly…then nothing. After 15 minutes we flagged down one of the many staff members and tried to place our order. The individual wouldn’t take it, and said we had to wait for our waiter. Another 5 minutes goes by. Only one chardonnay available by the glass ($14 for a very small pour). Hubby ordered a 12 oz pour of an IPA ($10) and we asked for fries ($10 for a very large bowl). Fries arrived well before our drinks….but no napkins. Asked for a napkin and silverware. Fellow brought us 2 tiny black cocktail napkins, but no tableware When the bill arrives, they have already added a 20% service fee. Bill totaled $44.90. Cannot recommend.

Just OK - A bit underwhelming to be honest

By Jeffrey Matthew Cohen |

I'm a long-time Seattle resident and my husband and I live in a downtown high-rise. We're obsessed with rooftop bars and frequent the ones our city (and the ones many other cities have to offer). The Fog Room is a new addition to the scene (The Charter Hotel that it's housed in opened a few months ago) and I was eager to visit (plus it's only a few blocks away from where I live). For starters, the decor and look is just average - and a bit underwhelming compared to the hype. I travel all over the world for a living, and honestly expected something out of Vegas, Hong Kong, or New York, but was sadly disappointed. The service was slow and inconsistent as well. The save for this place is absolutely the cocktails. "Bank Statement" is my favorite - completely delicious. The view is just ok too - the hotel is set a bit back on 2nd Avenue, the bar is located on the 16th floor, and doesn't command the great views of Elliott Bay. I'm a bit spoiled as my building's rooftop deck is on the 34th floor and has unobstructed wrap-around views that cannot be beat. If you want a great, chic rooftop bar downtown Seattle, I'd skip this one and head to the Nest at the top of the Thompson Hotel nearby.

Great Ambience

By HappyChippy |

Great staff and great atmosphere! Loved the Ambiance this lounge creates. VERY large menu variety, even Mocktails. Saturday evening at 5pm opening. We enjoyed two mocktail drinks before dinner and it was perfect. Staff was super friendly and quick service.

See through the Fog

By Waltj-Seattle |

I would have loved to give the Fog Room 5 stars but it’s for sure a 4 star place go check it out. And maybe it helped being at the Fog Room on a clear and warm (61 degree) day in Seattle. The views from the Fog Room of Seattle are amazing and the seating inside and outside creates a very vibrant but cozy ambience. We were there during happy hour and the food was delicious, very fresh. Drink prices are good given you are in downtown Seattle with a water front view. The wait service prevents me from giving it 5 stars. The hostess (Toni) she definitely gets 5 stars as she was very engaging and makes you feel like you have been there a bunch of times. We noticed some wait areas were serviced faster than others. Either way if you are outside and enjoying company and sun and not in a rush it’s a great day to check out the Fog Room.

April 2021 Wedding

By Gabrielle W |

My husband and I had a brunch wedding in April 2021 at The Fog Room at The Charter Hotel. We had to change our venue a few months prior due to capacity restrictions, and Sasha worked closely with our wedding planner to help make sure the day went seamlessly. The décor, set up, and food were perfect. We got ready in two of their suites, which are beautifully decorated and great back drops for photos. Sasha even coordinated an early breakfast before the kitchens opened and dropped it off at our suites. They helped us put together a custom brunch and drink menu, and we're still drooling over the food. The view from the terrace of The Fog Room was amazing, and we're so happy we chose to get married there!

Built for younger hipsters, but lack true luxury

By chickenwizard |

The new bar on the 16th floor of the Charter Hotel at 2nd and Stewart has some work to do I do like to give places 5 stars when I like them. I usually start at 5 and then it drops from there. It lost a star when the $8 bacon wrapped dates came. There were 2 of them. Really? For 2 dates wrapped in bacon and stuffed w/ blue cheese and walnuts? Good, but not for that price. The $15 hamachi crudo was also quite small. It took less than 2 minutes for my wife and I to finish it. It lost a star for sloppy workmanship. They have pendant lights that hang over the length of the bar that have a clear plastic or glass cover that encapsulates the light. I posted a picture of this. Most of the fixtures still had the sticker with the name of the light and product code. Some did have the sticker removed and showed its nickel finish. That's real tacky. The electrician did not bother to remove them, hence a lack of attention to detail, and the contractor either did not notice or care. Since I work for a high end GC, this is stuff that I notice instantly. That's unacceptable. Another thing they need to do is put some motorized sun shades for sunny days. It was blinding in there at 3pm. I would have given it 3 stars if it were not for the mandatory 20% service charges and then a line for a tip just to give you some guilt. Now the service was good, other than the fact no one ever came back and asked us if we needed another drink. We had to interrupt the bartender to get the second round. I usually give a minimum of 15% gratuity, even for bad service. Most of the time I give 20 and up to 30% for great service. I hate having it decided for me.

Beautiful location, great cocktails but TOO LOUD!

By jacqueet |

We were staying at the hotel and really wanted to have cocktails on the rooftop. The music was so loud, we left after only a few minutes. We literally had to yell at the hostess when we arrived, and to each other across the table to each other to be heard. The first night they had a DJ and the music was ridiculously loud, even out on the terrace. The second night, we did have a drink before dinner but when we came back after dinner, we left before getting drinks because we could have a conversation. I would only return in the afternoon o or early evening.

Beware!! Do not charge to your room!

By Lawrence S. |

I noticed at checkout $258 was charged to my room at the FOG room restaurant(not by me). At checkout they told me this would be put back on my card by the end of the week. Here we are a month later and at least 20 calls and talking to different mangers and I still have not been reimbursed. This has been stressful and ridiculous on the hotels part. If this would have been $20 I would not even cared but my gosh..$258! How could you not resolve this?? I have yet to be contacted by the frog room manger on this. The hotel mangers are who I have been speaking with.

Poor service, bad food, bad drinks

By Neil |

My daughters went here with a friend. She said that wait staff was slow, the appetizers and drinks were not good and one of the staff told them they had to leave soon because others were waiting to get in. My daughters and their friend were all White women BTW so no, contrary to what another customer said, it's not about race. It's just about poor service and bad management. Do NOT recommend The Fog Room. Try somewhere else. Has to be better than here.

Racist

By IM |

We went to Fog room for a relaxing evening out. The waiter was very short with us. The entire evening we had to call him over every time we wanted to order something. While looking around we noticed that he was interacting and providing great service to customers around us. The only difference between us and them was, that we were a couple of color. When my husband wanted to order the crab roll, the waiter tried to explain that it wasn’t sushi but served on bread - not sure if he thought people of color are not sophisticated and educated enough to know the difference. The waiter made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was really disturbing to see the clear difference in service provided to us versus the caucasian couples.

Disappointing….

By chrisDTW |

Kinda nice view….if you don’t mind looking at buildings. I love the outdoor fireplace (although seating was booked, but it was a Saturday night) I asked for dinner menu, but bartender told me only small bites from the bar menu. I asked her about the full dinner menu displayed online and she said “that’s outdated and we can’t seem to get them to fix that”. Disappointed. Inattentive service, was never asked for another drink (I wanted to order their Asahi draft beer) and I’m STILL waiting for bartender to cash me out, despite obviously displaying my credit card. Again, it’s a Saturday night at 9pm, but not super busy…seats and tables open. Definitely come in the summer for a (obstructed) patio deck view. Was about to tip and sign my check when I looked under that paper and saw 20% service charge was automatically applied. Pretty shady of him to do so.

21 and Over Only

By ColoradoPeep |

After reading a bunch of reviews for this rooftop restaurant I was thankful to learn you needed reservations weeks in advance and was able to secure a reservation for only 1 day of our trip. Unfortunately nothing I had read about this place stated that it was for guests age 21 and up, so my 19 year old daughter and I were turned away at the door. After looking back at the RESY reservation app to see if it stated the age restriction, I found it in the very last sentence of a long 3 paragraph description of the venue. It was not listed anywhere else. We were staying at the hotel, on the same floor as The Fog Room, and there are no signs anywhere that state there is an age restriction. Just an FYI so other families hoping to enjoy the outdoor rooftop setting don’t plan their entire day around a reservation only to be turned away like we were.

The best bartenders and great views!

By 48Buddy |

We stayed at the Charter Hotel so had easy access to the Fog Room rooftop bar on the 16th floor. It was our favorite place of all the places we visited while in Seattle. The bartenders are all very professional and friendly and super creative. They can make anything you can imagine but their feature cocktail is a Japanese highball with either Suntori whiskey or Roku gin. I described my favorite features in a cocktail and the bartender created something I loved! The small plate appetizers are small, but perfect to accompany a cocktail. We tried the hummus and radishes one night and the carrot and cashew dip another - both were excellent. They had a DJ on Friday night. The bar has outdoor patio seating and an area with a firepit but it was too windy for us the weekend we visited. Inside has a variety of seating areas with expansive windows, so you don't miss out on any views. It's really a great place for drinks and hanging out!

A great disappointment. The food was very average - imaginative description, poor execution, terrible hostess!

By NewEnglandPondskater |

A great disappointment. The food was very average - imaginative description, poor execution. However, my biggest gripe was that I booked ahead, then called an hour before to confirm our booking and that we would like to sit inside. The hostess (Tamara - green dress) was unprepared when I said we had asked to sit inside and not at the bar. She left us hanging around, made it clear we were making her life difficult, and when she “seated” us at our table she simply waved towards it and said “there you go.” and walked off with an arrogance that left us speechless. Our server on the other hand was wonderful, as were the bussers. Please send this hostess back to training - she is not ready!

not for vegetarians

By Travel.Stories.People |

Visited this place with four girls for a friend's birthday. Great views. Energy in this place was almost non-existent. Guess people come here to relax and have quiet chats. The vegetarian options on this menu are almost non-existet. We left after one drink and two appetizers.

All the goods

Delicious bespoke cocktails, spicy wings, queso chip dip, fun staff, stunning views and good music (old school Mariah Carey and David Guetta bangers). Staff made a cocktail to a broad brief that was absolutely delicious.

Great winter drinks and dining experience 👌

By Michael P |

Had a wonderful time at New Year's eve soaking up the atmosphere and unique vibe of the night with friends. Recommend! 🥂

Horrible bartender and poor planning

By Madeleine A |

Went to the New Year’s Eve party and had a horrible experience. I asked for a Cadillac margarita with a specific tequila and the short spiky blond hair bartender told me to take a different tequila because they taste the same (they do not) or wait 5 minutes for the other. I told him I would wait and he became visibly annoyed. Then proceeded to rudely say “no Cadillac you get a regular” without asking me first. We were then told to move away because we were crowding him at the bar. I realize no matter what you get a 20% tip so he does not have to make any effort to be kind. The music was absolutely terrible. We paid 100 dollars to walk through the doors, be talked down to by a bartender, then leave an hour later. The line to order a drink wrapped around the room and took 20 minutes to close out. It did not seem planned well at all. Very disappointed in the entire experience.

Nice rooftop bar

By John S |

Went here for drinks and food one night while in Seattle on vacation. We were staying at the Charter Hotel so did't have to go far as the bar is within the hotel. Small outdoor space where you can get some sun. Drinks and food were very good. I would only recommend gong in the daylight as it is not as nice at night.

Good location, nice snacks, service inattentive

By GuidoKarp |

I found the location very good, the food good, the service ... unfocused and unattentive, hence the three stars. Would I go again? Maybe.

Overpriced

By Dotti A |

The Fog Room has great views, but the drinks are mostly overpriced and the small plate menu leaves a lot to be desired. They are missing an audience who would like to linger over cocktails and a light/small plate meal.

Great spot

By krisgils33 |

Such a lovely view from this cocktail lounge. They have lots of interesting drinks on the menu. But they also have food too. The beverages are on the pricey side, but the ambiance and views make it worth it.

Spectacular view!

By AK1961says |

This roof top bar was a wonderful way to end a day in Seattle. The cocktails were yummy and the crowd fun. Beautifully appointed.

Fun Cocktails

By Des G |

Had a couple of fun evenings in the Fog Room watching the sunset whilst sampling the range of cocktails on offer. Very good and attentive service and a great location.

Good place for an evening cocktail

By Kevin J |

We went along for an evening cocktail. the place was really busy so we couldn't get a table with a decent view. The service was really good, though the drinks were very expensive.

Awesome at sunset

By Paradise402437 |

Needed a reservation to get in but it was worth it. We got in around sunset and it was perfect. Good views and the food exceeded my expectations.

nice rooftop bar and some light dinner

By PalnurseMke |

Went up there because of the destination fee of the hotel to use our 25 dollars. 80 dollars later for 2 drinks, a salad, and a hamburger, I guess we did not waste our 25-dollar fee.

Ok View - Could be better Service

By diane_notes |

Good evening in Seattle! However, the view is nice - not spectacular. The seating area is very nice … but you need to push the hosting staff to seat you where you actually want to sit (it wasn’t full). Be prepared for the high drink prices, and be aware that they automatically include a 20% gratuity. The service was not great - the staff were not the friendliest, and trying to get someone’s attention to place an order or pay your tab was very slow. Decent place, but be aware of the service issues.

Great Bar

By SteveNScottsdale |

I only had drinks there, but really enjoyed it. The drinks were well mixed and the staff friendly. Good views too.

Great roof top and marvelous cocktails

By Steve Lewis |

The roof top is small but offer more room inside in case of rain (remember that we are in Seattle). The view is a bit obstructed by a newly built building. However there is a window where you can see front. Cocktails are good and the appetizer food is also nice

Lovely Place

By HNBISOFF |

The Fog Room, located on the 16th floor of the Charter Hotel is an excellent place to see the sunset. Enjoy a drink on the terrace overlooking the Puget Sound.

Excellent cocktail

By Steve Lewis |

The place is well decorated. You can sit at the bar, outside or at small tables The cocktail choice is pretty impressive and they are well executed

Nice Place for Drinks above Seattle

By Grover R |

One of the best things about staying at The Charter Hotel Seattle is the room top bar aptly called the Fog Room. It is on the 16th occupying the west, the 2nd Ave side of the building with amazing views around the Pike Place Market area. It has both an outdoor and indoor seating area. We started outside but moved it due the sun and more comfortable lounge seating. Like most roof top bars, the drinks were a like expensive, but it was worth the atmosphere. I will suggest getting there early for the better seats. It was well attended and not just hotel guest but Seattle natives to let you know it is a good place for drinks.

Better than the usual Hilton hotel breakfast

By TokyoVisitor |

We came for breakfast, and ordered the Ellenos yogurt with almonds, honey and fruit and the stone fruit toast. The yogurt was fine (Ellenos makes a great product); “stone fruit toast” turned out to be pretty good toast with jam.

Nice Rooftop Lounge, Avoid the Appetizers

By Travel Dude |

Bit of a view of the bay, mostly blocked. Fun to watch the construction cranes. Great bar selection. It can be windy and cold, could use some radiant heaters outside. The appetizers, we ordered most of them as a group for drinking snacks... yeah, no. Lovely presentation but poor taste and not well thought out. Would not get these again. Eat before you come, or order something from the restaurant downstairs.

The Bar Restaurant of the Charter Hotel

By Ebru A |

It has a superb view. In the evenings, the reservations can be highly required. You can drink and/or drink somethings with a view of skylines of the Seattle Harbour.

So much much fun!!

By Travelendude |

This is a very cool place. We are staying at the hotel & I was apprehensive. Very cool, efficient employees - friendly. Food was good & great view. We did not make reservations & high tops were full. Place was packed when we left!! I was surprised!! Good music too!!

Beautiful view with delicious cocktails

By riya1987 |

We had a great time at his lovely rooftop. The service was top notch from Darius. He was so friendly and warm. The cocktail recommendations were great, and the drinks were amazing. We will be sure to be back soon, and recommend friends to do the same.

Avoid Fog Room if you want an espresso martini.

By kristin a |

I took my family(3 ppl) to the Fog Room for a fancy cocktail when I visited on thanksgiving weekend. We ordered our drinks. We liked the music ( LDR) and the view. The server brought out two iced drinks, and said they were pulling the espresso for the third cocktail. We waited for the third cocktail. 30 minutes later the espresso based cocktail was brought. At this point our two early delivery drinks, which we did not partake, were diluted. We mentioned our dilemma to the server. She made NO attempt to compensate for the 30 minute delay in finding espresso for the third cocktail. We left all three drinks untouched on the table and decided to bail out. On the way out we passed a bar on the first floor which had an espresso machine! All they had to do was ride down get the espresso and make the cocktail at the same time so we would be served together. Were we two really supposed to drink in front of the third person for 30 minutes? Why were two drinks made and delivered to a party of three? I have worked as a server and always offered something if there was an unusual delay. In this case, she could have offered to remake our diluted drinks, offer an appetizer, something! But nooo! She brought out three more coworkers and none of them corrected her as to proper customer service. Proves the automatic gratuity results in less service than an earned gratuity. So we walked up the street to Provisions and enjoyed lovely cocktails with awesome service on point.

Bartender should mind his own business….terrible service

By Colleen M |

My elderly mother and I were guests at the Charter Hotel and tried to have a lovely evening at the fog room. We were greeted by immature and unprofessional hostess staff. We made the mistake of commenting (quietly between ourselves) about the poor service while sitting alone at the end of the bar. The bartender “C” asked us to leave if we continued to discuss the poor service and inhospitable welcome we received. Since when does the bartender comment on personal conversations and ask two old ladies to leave for talking to each other about pore hostess staff service? Spoke to Hotel management about our “Fog Room” experience and the behavior of the bartender. No response yet and we stayed at the hotel for two nights. I am a very loyal Hilton customer. If this was my first visit to a Hilton property it would have been my last. So disappointed in the Charter hotel and Fog room.

Subpar Staff & Service

By Chuck C |

We did not enjoy our time here the staff was cold and condescending. This place is operated by young kids with zero communication or customer service skills

A Wonderful Drink!

By Aaron Shelby |

My Dad and I stopped in for a nightcap on our final night in Seattle to take in the views of the sound and enjoy a whisky cocktail. The bartenders here are great! Every time I stay at the hotel, the drinks at the Fog Room keep getting better and better. Between the straight-forward, well-crafted drinks and the views, you really can't ask for more than what the Fog Room gives. Cheers!

Awesome food and drinks! GO HERE!

By mlbidna |

Stayed at the charter hotel and came up here multiple times for drinks. Sat at the bar staring out at the amazing views while the bartenders were able to make any drink you could think of. My wife and I both ordered unique drinks not on the menu and the bartenders were able to whip them up. Amazing. Must visit!

Amazing place

By Steve Lewis |

The view is breadth taking You can see the whole bay, seeing ferry leaving at sunset. Cocktail menu is also fantastic, with plenty of creativity

Sexy View Lounge

By Kevin K |

Read about the Fog Room and decided to check it out! Worthy place to have a few cocktails and apps. We sat at the bar, but we look forward to returning in the summer to sit outside. The staff is friendly and attentive! If you are downtown Seattle, definitely hit the Fog Room!

Perhaps Best Happy Hour Downtown

By gbaxter@pobox.com |

Stayed one night in Charter Hotel for concert. Enjoyed 16th floor Fog Room before and after concert. Skillful bartenders (at least 2 were “flair” bartenders), good wine lists, great choice of spirits, nice bar snack menu (try the duck sliders w magical mystery pickle slice). Beautiful sunset views. Returning at 11 PM we found bartenders all grooving to 60’s and 70’s hits overlaid w bass-beat by live DJ. Smiles all around.

Great Rooftop Spot

By Rendon |

Came here for dinner and drinks with friends during a visit in Seattle. We enjoyed our time and the views were stunning. The drinks were very creative and well thought out, and probably the best thing about this spot. The mussels were delicious but the fries were a little over seasoned. the server was made aware and took care of the issue. Overall a great place to hang out on a high rise rooftop to enjoy the sunset views.

View!

By Phylis M |

Was in our hotel (charter curio) and had fun cocktails but the view was awesome . Great place to sit outside and enjoy.

Celebrated a Milestone Birthday Here

By Glowbird59 |

My husband & I came here to the 16th floor to celebrate. Great location with sublime views. We sat outside. This place is furnished like a comfortable living room. Nice cocktail selection. Limited but delicious bites available. Friendly, attentive server Chris was delightful. We were never rushed. Had drinks & ordered small plates a few times throughout the evening. All yummy! We had the tempura beets & mushrooms with a yogurt dip and pita toasts with a carrot cashew dip. Burger slider was perfectly done. Choice of Swiss cheese chunks with crackers was the least of all but tasty nonetheless. We didn't want to leave. Watched the ferries & sailboats. Sunset was magical. So romantic. Great spot for date night or girls/guys night out. Nice place to just stop in if you are a guest in the hotel. Highly recommend.

What a view!

By Fawnbrindle |

Super cool roof top bar. We had drinks here one evening. The view is beautiful and the service was great too. The fire pit was a nice touch on a cool evening. Loved it!

Good drinks, almost a great view

By joer123456 |

We had drinks (no food). The drinks were well made, the service was very good and friendly. The view toward Puget Sound would be spectacular but for the construction across the street, which blocks mush of the view- that is unfortunate. We would repeat our visit. The food is limited small bites. Very nice ambiance.
