Wait, bait, then switch

By JL |

The Seattle location might be a bit fraught with problems and some tension. The wait time for getting a table was one thing. For a weeknight crowd, it filled up once seated. The wait times just to get a drink order, much less getting coordinated with the food, however, were another. It somehow took ten minutes from asking two servers to verify the rewards program and which entrees were okay to use. (The first one either ignored or forgot my previous requests; the other was just confused.) Then the carvers were sparse and running around with knives; no chicken was on offer at that time. It was even harder to get ice water. The steaks were a bit too salty and cooked rarer at the edges. A couple of times some of the servers might been heard sending more furrowed glances and whispers at a large party of seven or eight and another party of five just adjacent from where I sat. The Wi-Fi might have been a bit off or non-existent. The manager had to explain the discrepancy in billing versus the initially verified options by their staff.

Herold was the best, he made our experience really nice. Also cheers to Victor. I was our first time and definitely we will come back

Disappointing

By Lucas H |

The wait is always very long, the meat passes by the table a few times, they seem to want us to eat the buffet and be full with it, the service is not the best, there is a lack of communication and agility, the buffet does not have much variety, the relatively high price does not match the experience, the prices go up and the quality goes down, I went to several fires in the USA and this one disappointed me a lot, I'm sad because our Brazilian cuisine ends up being frowned upon because of this.

Avoid

I never write reviews good or bad but really felt other patrons should be aware ! We reserved a table for 18.45 on a Friday. Arrived in time only to be told we had a 30 minute wait regardless of our reservation. We were told they only had limited capacity. Yes, that’s why you have a reservation system and why customers use it to ensure they get a table at the time they want. The entrance was full of other people who had also reserved a table but had been waiting longer than 30 minutes. Question ? What is the point of a reservation system. We then popped across the road to the Capitol Grill who seated us straightaway and we had an excellent meal.

Disappointing for a Fogo de Chao

By Jonathan B |

I like Fogo de Chao, and it's generally good. Unfortunately, this one was a little disappointing. The manager was great. One of the best. He was super friendly, and he kept jumping in to give the gauchos a hand. He was all over the place trying to make the ship sail smoothly. He is the sole reason I'm giving the restaurant three stars. And the gauchos were good, too. Unfortunately, the wait staff were slow and inattentive. They rarely checked on the diners. The important thing is the food, and this is where the restaurant fell flat. The salad bar did not have everything a Fogo normally has. The meat was slow in coming, and many of the dishes never came at all while I dined. And while the meat had a wonderful char, except for the alacatra, the quality of the beef was low. I couldn't eat any of the wrapped steak bites, and the rest weren't that much better. I love picanha, but this was barely acceptable. I don't lay this on the cooks. I think the quality of the cuts themselves was just a few steps down from what I usually get at a Fogo. This is the second time in a couple of years I've had a disappointing meal at a Fogo de Chao. I have to wonder if the overall quality is slipping from the chain as a whole.

Davis love ! Espresso don’t go here !

By Melody G |

Let me start by saying this: Davis is the MVP of this entire establishment. Friendly, considerate, charming—not to mention he has the reflexes of a ninja. Plate gone? Cleared. Glass empty? Refilled before I could blink. If every restaurant had a Davis, the world would be a better place.Truly elite-level attentiveness. Now… about the espresso. Honey no Do not—and I repeat, DO NOT—come here for any kind of espresso drink unless you packed a sleeping bag. It took a heroic 25–30 minutes to produce one single espresso. I’ve had Amazon packages arrive faster. When Davis dropped off my martinis, he asked, “Do you want another?” Of course I want another—I just don’t need them back-to-back like I’m trying to forget 2020. He only asked because he didn’t want me trapped in another hostage situation with that prehistoric espresso machine. Honestly, I think it runs on hopes and prayers. Scientists should study it. Food? Great. Service? Even better. Espresso? Go literally anywhere else—even a gas station might be quicker

Love Fogo, but this one doesn’t love you back

By Zach K |

Been here 2x in 60 days. 1st visit, almost no wait, but after taking my drink order, the waitress disappeared. No drink refills and I had to go to the bar to request my bill so I could leave. 2nd visit, long wait with the front door often left unmanned so lots of confusion. No lettuce at the salad bar. Waited 20 minutes for the 1st meat serving. 6 total meat servings in 45 minutes. And one serving was less than a bite. (Pictured). Been to a lot of Fogo’s in Philly, Denver, and even Brighton Uk. This one needs a complete overhaul beginning with management.

No! Don’t go.

Cruise ship on land! Packed, LOUD, buffet dining with steak carved at your table. I have never hated a dining experience so much. Embarrassed that we invited guests to join us because it was new to downtown. Chaos of people constantly around your table: servers who cleared mixed with those cutting meat on to your plate—people who annoying have no boundaries going back and forth for piles of food from the “salad” bar. Yet, in spite of all the servers, our food was warm at best, and we waited a ridiculous amount of time for extra chimichurri sauce. I have never left a restaurant so completely stressed out from my dining experience. Billed as a higher-end restaurant, but sat next to guys in sweat pants who didn’t bother to take off their ball caps. Sorry. Better places in Seattle.

Back Home

By Sarah S |

Fogo De Chao was the perfect experience. I felt like I was back home in Brazil for some minutes. The food is wonderful, and the customer service was on point. I'll definitely come back soon. The prices are equal to the service, something that you don't see it often in Seattle.

Good food and nice service in cozy environment.

Have been to Fogo de Chao many times in Washington DC and once in Brasilia, and this one in Seattle was really up to scratch with cozy decor, a throng of Friday party happy guests, excellent food and nice staff.

I rarely write reviews, but after three separate visits, I feel obligated to share this experience.

By Unknown U |

I rarely write reviews, but after three separate visits, I feel obligated to share this experience. My first visit was meant to be a celebration — my friend’s birthday dinner on her actual birthday. Despite having a reservation, Fogo de Chão lost it, were dismissive in person and on the phone, and made no effort to rebook or accommodate our reservation on such an important occasion. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. That same evening, I accidentally left my credit card at the restaurant. When I called the next day, they had told me that they found my card. I was explicitly told it would be held safely until I picked it up. A few days later, I returned in person and waited another 30 minutes to retrieve my card. While waiting, I sat down and ordered a single glass of wine. Eventually, I was informed — casually — that they had lost my card. No explanation. No sense of urgency. No real apology. I have never felt so disrespected as a guest - yet I STILL paid for my glass of wine using my apple wallet as backup. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated incident. Ironically, I already had a work happy hour reservation booked there the following day. We arrived early at 4:30 PM for a reservation that was properly booked online, only to be told once again that the reservation had been “lost” and that the rooftop was essentially full. The staff showed little interest in helping or problem-solving. A manager eventually said she could “squeeze us in,” which was already 35 min later, but after another 15-minute wait with no updates, we chose to leave. The consistent theme across all three visits is clear: a complete lack of care for the guest experience. The staff appeared disengaged, careless, and indifferent, even when serious mistakes were made. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for over 12 years and understands both front- and back-of-house operations, I am genuinely shocked by this level of service. Mistakes happen — but how they are handled defines an establishment. Unfortunately, Fogo de Chão downtown Seattle showed no accountability, no professionalism, and no desire to retain guests. I would not recommend this location to anyone and will never return.

Overflowing meat, most delicious sides

By sk8 |

For my birthday dinner! It has such a lovely ambiance, servers were friendly but a little chaotic and confused. We noticed them having some miscommunications and arguments they failed to unhide. I know for sure our server is training somebody, she was very knowledgeable & quick. Food - Our favorite is the pork belly and picanha. But that cheese bread stole the meat spot. Can’t get enough of it plus the caramelized bananas. I don’t know, they are the highlight. Guess the meat just went by and didn’t really lingered as much as the two sides. We enjoyed the Caipirinhas! It was definitely filling with continuous meat service and a buffet with salads and other sides. It was a nice so-so experience. Is it worth it? Yes, if you’re a huge meat eater. If not, don’t go. $120 average per person dinner churrasco is way too much if you’re half hungry or half full. Or just not some carnivore. Overall is a good try!

As in Brazil ...

By Michael D |

Magnificent Rodizio with excellent meat. Just like Brazil. Great service and pleasantly cheap cocktails (very good caipirinhas!). Of course, not quite cheap overall, but absolutely worthwhile. Leaves a lasting impression.

Eh. Not returning.

Lunch with a colleague. Our first time to this new offering in our neighborhood. Maybe 15% of tables were occupied which increased to 50% during lunch. To start we order drinks. A Stella beer and Brazilian Limonada. A second server came around about 15 minutes later to ask if we've ordered. We mentioned we ordered drinks but they hadn't arrived yet. When the beer was delivered by yet a third server I mentioned we had not received the Limonada yet. He went back to make it. Then about 5 minutes later another Limonada appeared which we rejected. My colleague ordered the Gaucho lunch with pork chop. He was happy with his "buffet" style and the pork. The pork was a bit dry. $28. I had the pan-seared salmon with asparagus $25. Salmon was overcooked and dry. Asparagus was stringy and chewy. The Gauchos, who bring the meat to the table for slicing, none seems to speak any English. We had a couple of questions but the 4 Gauchos we talked to didn't understand. This might be a gimmick, but it seemed genuine. They've had 4 months to practice since opening. I'm not giving them another chance.

From bad to best in one sitting

We've been to three other Fogos: one in DC and two different ones in Brazil. There is a comfortable similarity to all of them. This new one in Rainier Square in downtown Seattle is a beautiful room. It is sophisticated, nicely lit, and buzzing with good cheer. This is not a place for a quiet, intimate, romantic meal. It is loud, frenetic, and jammed with people. Lots of people, most of them seemingly Fogo employees. The Gauchos, the servers, the bread people, the nameless ones constantly checking on you, a swarm of continually changing faces. It is nice to have adequate staff attending to you. It is intrusive to be checked on continually. To start at the beginning, the main entrance is on University Street. We approached on 4th Avenue, there is also a door. As we entered that door, a young lady told us to sit anywhere. I told her we had reservations; she nodded, gestured toward the large dining room, and left. People bustled about, bursts of laughter, and we felt stranded, unsure we should sit anywhere. After finding the main entrance, we were asked to wait while those in front of us were seated first. They were ALL walk-ins. Eventually, we were sitting at a lovely table. Ordering cocktails, we waited. And, waited. And, waited. Our featured server for the evening was a young lady with a loud voice who spoke so fast I could not follow along. She wanted to explain to us how to eat here. We told her we were from Brazil and knew the ropes. So, she said, and I quote, "OK, then you tell me about the menu." Throughout the evening, we felt her hostility and condescension towards us. We couldn't get timely drinks, and our wine order was not what we wanted. Sometimes, you cross paths with someone who "gets you." Along comes Malou. Professional, gracious, understanding, attentive, everything a restaurant would seek in an employee. Malou took care of the wine problem. Malou created an atmosphere of calm around our table, allowing us to enjoy ourselves. It was a jarring moment when the regular server showed up, disrupting the peace Malou had somehow brought to our table. We have decided not to name this disruptive server. I hope she will recognize and learn from this if she reads this. The remarkable thing about this evening is we liked the food. We preferred to eat protein before salads; each protein was tender and unique from the other proteins. There is a large variety of choices. The Gauchos serving the meats are all helpful, kind, and patient with folks. If you are a carnivore, they do it right at Fogo. The salad bar had some excellent dishes and some excellent cheese selections. We left full and happy with our food. We left feeling well attended to by Malou. The front door host/hostess situation needs tightening up. Some servers (at least ours) need better training on customer relations, graciousness, and how to leave the attitude at home.

A Wonderful Dining Experience

My go to spot for delicious all you can eat meat, and conversation over cocktails. The food and service here is perfection, the ambiance is well executed and overall couldn’t ask for a better experience! They make you feel like family here! I’ll be back for more.

Happy Hour w/Johnson

By Carole L |

My co-worker and I decided to have a Friday night HH cocktail and decided on the newest restaurant in Rainer Square. We were extremely lucky to have Johnson as our server. He made great recommendations for food, drinks and talked us into dessert. The service was amazing and Johnson was easy on the eyes… a little bonus for the ladies!

Very underwhelming

By William T |

We had family and friends visit us from Sao Palo, Brazil, and we wanted to take them to a traditional Brazilian restaurant . With the restaurant just opening , we were very excited. Because we have had great experiences in Sao Palo and other cities. From the beginning, it was a mess. We had booked our reservation for 5:00pm and we were not seated until almost 5:30pm. Once we were seated and explained the menu, we ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks took forever, and only 1 Brazilian beer available!!!! The Pao de queijo arrived, but no drinks yet. We asked again about the drinks, and they said oh yah..we picked our main meal experience, and we were told salad and hot bar were near the grill and help ourselves." The salad bar really doesn't have any real Brazilian choices, and the hot bar had some soup and feijoda. But no Farofa in sight for the Feijoda 😐. Next, the meats and hot sides began arriving. It was fine, not what we had expected and for $70.00 ea. I had hoped for better
