Having grown up in Arizona I often find Mexican restaurants this far north to be a great disappointment. Not so here. The food was excellent, the prices very reasonable, and the service......eh, OK. Very generous Margaritas and a good Mexican beer selection.

My friend lives down the block and frequents this spot. She said "you have to get the margaritas." When they first poured it I thought "wow that is a lot of money for a little margarita" then they left the whole tumbler! Not only is it a great margarita it's a great deal! The food was delicious! The margarita is dangerous though, I suggest using lyft or public transport after consuming one!

part of a Christmas foodie expedition, we hiked across the city for miles, after an REI flagship store tour nearby. ya gotta pay for chips and salsa here my sister noticed. the chips were only OK, and the red salsa was HARSH!, so we went with the verde. the picante salsa side for dipping was poor as well. but the burritos were perfection.

From the margaritas to the entrees, everything was amazing. Be ready for some spice and a hoppin' atmosphere.

Lots of guests here. If solo or duo, sit at the bar. The pollo asado is delicious. Thebtrip de salsa and totopos was way better than chips and salsa ever really need to be, but once you have them, your expectations are forever elevated.

... and watch the passing show. Yes, the outdoor seating is on benches with only a fairly shallow metal table, but who cares? We showed up late on a Friday without a reservation and although we had the option of having the restaurant text us when a table inside was ready (which is pretty civilized and makes you wonder why all restaurants don't offer this service), we were able to sit outside right away, start drinking margaritas right away (warning: because they come in pint glasses, they don't seem that strong but don't be fooled!), and start eating really tasty Mexican food and engaging in witty banter with our server right away. Besides, it was pretty warm and noisy inside, so outside was the more enjoyable choice.

This is a terrific spot. The ambience is great with large open windows and casual, rustic décor. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. The meal was fantastic and not badly priced.

Fish tacos and ceviche were amazing! We also really enjoyed the outdoor seating and outstanding service.

Delicious appetizers and dinner. Handmade tortillas. Had excellent service by our wonderful server, Brenda. Next time I visit Seattle we’ll dine here again!

The Capital Hill neighborhood has tons of restaurants to choose from. I was in Seattle on business and three of us just started walking through the neighborhood and decided to try this place. Fun atmosphere, service was excellent, location convenient, food was just okay. Probably not the best option if you want really good mexican but it's in a fun trendy neighborhood.

Tasty drinks every time. I try different margaritas each time and they are always good. The food is good also. Consistent service.

We came back twice. Two days in a row it was that good. They had all of my favorite childhood Mexican foods and everything was delicious. We ordered the Chilaquiles, the enchiladas rojas, the quesadillas and carne asada and the chicken mole. The tamales where excellent too. So so good.. I would come back to Seattle just for this food.

I was not quite familiar with the area, so I browsed TripAdvisor to find a restaurant around the area and I found Fogon was quite interesting. I didn't know much about Mexican food, so I browse the photos from trip advisor, and point out the pic to the order staff. The food was very tasty, with nice presentation. I had a great Enchiladas de Mariscos (corn tortillas filled with scallops and seafood), with Luccile IPA. Well, the staff are friendly too.

11 of us went to dinner here on a Saturday night. 2 of which were children under 5 years of age. 2 of us eat gluten free and the waiter was excellent at pointing out what was gluten free. We were there for happy hour. All of us ordered drinks and these came along with complimentary flautas which were awesome! Our dinners arrived shortly afterwards. Kids ordered nachos for happy hour price of $5.00. Many enchiladas, some with chicken others with seafood. Burritos were large but good. Tacos were another choice, a tad spicy for one of our group but good none the less. We split the bill by 10 and the cost/ person was $23.00 + tip. Really reasonable for all of our food and drink. Would go back if I was in Seattle. They make their corn tortillas by hand at the front of the restaurant. Very busy. Very authentic food.

We came to Seattle for one night only and stumbled across Fogon.... in the darkness and rain it looked like a bit of an average place, but once we stepped inside and saw the place was a locals hang out we were sold. Even though it was a Saturday night we were able to get a table. Everyone who eats here gets a starter on the house, we received a crispy taco and refried beans... very tasty. We then shared nachos and some beef tacos... Absolutely brilliant, we were both so impressed. Great service, the servers were so good, the food service was fast, and value for money was brilliant! We only have good things to say about Fogon.... you must go!

Bottom line, great Mexican food, good service, reasonable prices. I was there early on a Saturday night and only had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table. There’s a station by the front door where they were making fresh tortillas (awesome!). I think that influenced my decision to try the chicken fajitas. I’m glad it did because they were excellent. My wife had the fish tacos and she said they were excellent as well. The decor was festive. Would I go back? Most definitely. If I lived in the area, this restaurant would be one of my regular stops.

Excellent service. Went with a group of 8 for a bachelorette party and they took our order as soon as we were ready so we could take advantage of the last few minutes of happy hour since we were early! Super considerate. The tortilla soup is $5 on the happy hour menu and it's AMAZING. Large portion too. Everyone in the group was happy with their order. The place has a really nice ambience too. Can't wait to be in the area again to go back!

What a great find in Seattle. Located in Capital Hill, right off I-5, Fogón has great food and attentive service. Once seated for lunch, we were served a complimentary appetizer. Simple, delicious and unexpected! The burritos and fish tacos were very good. Happy travelers are we!

My wife and I recently stepped into Fogon for lunch and were astonished by the luncheon special menu. She ordered the half order of nachos with chicken, and I ordered two carne asada tacos with a salad. Each of our dishes cost a mere $7, tasted delicious, and we left the restaurant with doggie bags. We're definitely going to return.

We eat a lot of Mexican food and most is good but this place was great. Super fresh ingredients, well prepared, friendly staff and a nice location. The one drawback is that it is very noisy and hard to carry on a conversation.

Everything we got, the tongue, Chile rellemo, fish tacos was excellent. Tried their mole sauce on their fresh tortillas both terrific. Go go go. Ill be back.

The food here is absolutely fantastic. The people on previous reviews who say "Good(authentic)...for the PNW" should be ashamed of their snobbery and ignorance of variation in Mexican food. I have lived near the border in Texas and eaten Mexican food along the border in every other state that borders Mexico as well as various parts in Mexico. The flavors and ingredients are dead on and those of you who have visited Southern California or Cancun a couple times in your lives should hold your opinions until you have sampled the many varieties of the many regions. The service was top notch and the prices were surprisingly good. The portions were great, if not a little too big. The music was a little loud, but not so loud we couldn't have a conversation and it was enjoyable music. We were there late in the evening so it is possible they turn it up as the bar crowd picks up. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.

Mexican. Great combination platters. The service was excellent. The beers were icy cold. Tamales excellent. Ambiance very loud

Disappointing.. terrible.. unprofessional.. greedy.. avoid We had been there on this Sunday with our family .. we’re made to wait longer than committed.. then very slow service.. we were in a group of 7 but given separate table of 4 n 3.. were given separate checks also but still they billed us for compulsory gratuity of 6+ group.. all through behaviour of the staff was very rude non-cooperative

This place is pretty highly rated, and that's why my friend and I decided to go there. We were both really disappointed - I guess if you want a place that's fun to hang out with friends, then give it a go, but if you want good Mexican food, you might as well skip it. I got Fish Tacos (the only non-meat thing I could really find), and my friend got Tacos al Pastor - the fish tacos really just fell apart in my hands, and the pastor was not pastor (according to my friend). I rated it 'average' because It's probably okay for the gringos. We were comparing it to food in Mexico City, so maybe being a bit unfair.

Solo, sitting at the bar at 5:30 and place is packed but not to noisy. Bartenders are helpful with menu recommendations and you can’t beat the happy hour prices. Definitely visit on my next trip to Seattle.

Being native Texans with Mexican restaurants on every corner, my wife and I were a bit skeptical at first but boy were we impressed. Tostadas are a great way to start off. The Carne Asada is an absolute must! Thinly sliced grilled to perfection with house-made corn tortillas that were to die for!

I grew up in Mexico City. I know what Mexican food really is and this place is the real deal. I came in on a Thursday night at 10 pm and I had to wait 20 min for a table. That’s a great sign in my book! I had the sopa de tortilla, very good. Also the Chile relleno. Very close to the traditional flavor. The tamarindo margarita was amazing. And the prices... what can I say. Very affordable, excellent food and lively ambiance. They have some gringo things on the menu too for the non adventurous people.

We stopped in accidentally and were happily surprised. Friendly and quick service. Great food. Definitely a hit!

I was excited to try this place because there was always a wait time and it smelled so good! The food was ok, I’ve had better and worse. I didn’t like that they had such a bad health code rating.

We ordered the chicken tortilla soup, followed by fish and shrimp street tacos. It was excellent and the customer service was also exceptional. I am very excited to return.

Fogon was recommended to me by a Mexican friend, saying it was the best in Seattle. After eating there I agree. We had a girls night out and wanted something fun but low key, and this was perfect. We didn't have a reservation so sat at the bar and had made-from-scratch margaritas, chips, guacamole and salsa while waiting for a table. The margaritas were fantastic, with fresh-squeezed lime juice. Careful though, they're strong. For dinner 2 of us had prawns simmered in onions, tomatoes and peppers, served on rice with melted cheese and a side of fresh tortillas made in-house. DELICIOUS. The other 2 had fish tacos that they really enjoyed (the fish was cod). We were too full for dessert so can't comment on quality/choice. I will definitely come back here, I want to try everything else on the menu. I would also come to just hang at the bar, with such good drinks and a great atmosphere it's worth it. Also fantastic service for the most part although we kept running out of water at the table.

I had the chicken nachos and a Mexican Mule. The nachos we amazing. This was the first time I had a mule with tequila, I will get another!!

I would recommend this spot for locals and tourists. The food is fantastic, the tequila selection is quite nice, and they have a great happy hour as well as daily specials. Tuesday is your best bet if you like tequila - all the shots are half off. You can't beat a shot of Don Julio 1942 for $13. The staff is very nice although sometimes the service can be slow. The atmosphere is fun and modern too. All around, this is a great place!

I've been to dozens and dozens of Mexican restaurants all over the country, and have never been at one that didn't bring chips and salsa. They brought a cute little appetizer (tasted just ok), and my server told me that was in lieu of chips and salsa. Everyone around me had chips and salsa. Hmm. I had the seafood enchiladas; my experience with many every other Mexican restaurants was the crazy amount of scallops, shrimp, and crab they put into their dishes. Not here. I counted two shrimp, maybe two scallops (cut in tiny pieces, and I think some crab might have been in there. With the white rice and beans, it was overall tasty and I didn't go away hungry. But, I wouldn't come back.

I spent 5 years living in Tucson and the Bay Area, so I really wanted to find good Mexican food in Seattle, and kept being disappointed - taco trucks were often pretty good, but Seattle's idea of a burrito seems to include making the tortilla soggy with some random sauce sauce and salsa that would be more at home in an Italian restaurant. To be fair, I've never tried La Carta de Oaxaca - I was never willing to wait the hour+ to get in. But this place... I feel like I found a great gem. Pretty much any time I'm around Capitol Hill and I get to pick a lunch or dinner spot, this is what I pick, and I've brought a lot of people along who've been impressed. Everything is really fresh and flavorful, and the waiters tread you like a friend. You can see them make tortillas fresh right by the entryway. Every dish I've had there has been at least good, and many are just amazing. It's traditional Mexican food with just enough of a fresh twist to make it fit into Seattle's foodie fusion culture - but if you come in wanting classic dishes, you'll get what you want and enjoy every bite. Also, it's surprisingly cheap, especially for lunch - in an area with $25 hamburgers, it's refreshing to see a place that has entrees under $10, and few over $15, especially surprising given how fresh and from-scratch everything seems.

Stopped here for dinner. It was great did it all over again the next day. Service was good very friendly got us in and out.

Really good Mexican - the real deal, flavors all blend in just the way they should. You won't find the over-zealous attempts to put too much of this or that here - just the hints of Mexican flavors that play together into a sum that is greater than all the parts. I ate there yesterday and can't wait to go back.

This place is open and bright with large widows that open up to street side. When you walk in there is a woman making authentic handmade tortillas. They are delicious. The wait staff is friendly and give you a small bite before you order. A nice added touch. The margaritas are so good and refreshing. A must have is the guacamole. I had the veggie tamales and they were delicious. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. We will return very soon.

The hubs and I were in town for a weekend of football and checked trip advisor for good Mexican. This place is ranked best Mexican restaurant in Seattle for a reason. We were served a fresh complimentary tostada as soon as we sat down. The drinks were awesome (I recommend the big drink served in the clay pot although I can't remember the name). The food is authentic and delicious. My only complaint is that it was quite busy and therefore a little crowded, however it was Saturday night, and a small restaurant is usually busy for a good reason. We had great service and the servers were very attentive in spite of the crowds. The cost was also quite fair. I would definitely recommend this place for some solid food & cocktails!

Decent food and service. Not sure it's worth the price. Atmosphere is way to loud to hear yourself think, let alone hear your friends talking. Don't go at the busy times, I suppose. You'll probably get better service when it's slow, too.

This was a really nice find! Great food (ceviche was great, chicken nachos...awesome) and really friendly service in the middle of a hip neighborhood. Their spicy strawberry margarita made me a changed man! Go go go....soooo good.

My first time coming here. Amazing food. Get the beef fajita. Fresh hand made tortillas. I recommend this to anyone passing by. Staff is extremely friendly. Best Mexican food in Seattle.

Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. I found the drinks to be excelente, using only fresh fruits to create more naturally sweetened cocktails than you usually find in restaurants... and I'm a sweet tooth. My seafood enchilada was really superb. I'm definitely going back.

The server was very rude. He didn’t have the right manners or etiquettes. On top of that, he messed up our order. The food was mediocre at best. We will not be back.

This place looked busy at 6pm so we thought that was a good sign - it was! Really tasty burritos and a fabulous skinny margarita that lasted ages...would happily recommend.

Stopped by here on a Sunday late evening, because most of the Mexican restaurants closed in the afternoon. It was very busy. Happy Hour started a few minutes after we got there, 9pm. First, there is a lady that you can watch making fresh tortillas. They passed around what tasted like mini refried tostadas, very delicious and no charge. Had the Margarita special, strawberry infused. The strawberry flavor was not overpowering, and blended with the tequila very smoothly. Ordered the most amazing seafood enchilada I have ever had. My friend got the vegetable enchilada and said it was equally delicious. Salsa was very good and had some kick. Rice and beans looked like your typical dish, but had subtle spices, that made them perfect and cooked to perfection. The food was hot, and the service was very good. Price to value, was well worth it.

Came hear on the recommendation of our hotel desk clerk. There were 5 of us and our service was fantastic. We had the bartender choice margarita and they were fantastic. Between all of us food ordered was a burrito, guacamole, salad, crab enchiladas, @ my personal the seafood enchiladas. Chips were warm and tasty. The atmosphere was electric. Our overall experience was great I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great authentic food. Staff is nice and great location. Service is a bit slow just because it is packed. Stop in for sure.

We happened to be walking past when hungry and just dropped in for a bite. Everything was very fresh, the portions were excellent and the cost wasn't too high either. I think this places deserves more credit than it gets on here as I have tried Mexican food all over the world and this was some really good stuff. Good cocktail menu and happy hours available too so don't miss out if you're in the area.

Thank you Gary and Noel for a most festive evening! I only give reviews if I'm feeling five star, and Fogon Cocina Mexicana gets five stars just for their Ceviche! Every mouthful I took in I wanted to linger and savor for as long as I could! And if a Mexican restaurant has a liquor license, the quality of their Margaritas can make or break them. Fogon Cocina Mexicana your happy hour rocks! YOU MADE IT!!! The service was impeccable and key as this was a business meeting and we wanted to just focus on getting acquainted! When I walked in I instantly fell in love with the decor and loved the color choices which were perfect for picture taking. The music choices I would choose for a social event at my home, and together all the elements make this a perfect destination for meeting with friends. A lot of restaurants have come and gone at this location, but THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY HERE TO STAY!

Always in search of a great place for Mexican food and drinks while south of the border (I am based in Vancouver, B.C.), we stopped into Fogon Cocina Mexicana this past weekend and were very impressed with... EVERYTHING! From the delicious food options, classic margaritas, awesome service and even HAPPY HOUR prices! Even outside of the happy hour menu, prices for what you get are more than reasonable, as most dishes come in around $11 - $15 for full entrees. We will definitely return on a future trip.

Playing tourist on Capitol Hill we wandered a few blocks from our hotel (Silver Cloud) and came across - this packed place after passing by many closed or sparsely occupied eateries. Greeted immediately - sat at the bar ordered our drinks and before we could get them were swept to our seats at a community table which worked out fine. Our margaritas came - one Cadillac and one Hibiscus - both were good but the Hibiscus was better. Service was quick and efficient throughout our entire experience. The food tasted authentic- was temperature hot and flavorful. Patio seating looks nice - hopefully next time.

I've been here for lunch several times with a group, both the chicken and steak milanesa are so delicious I keep ordering them (must try something different!). We also really liked the guacamole, salsas and the chips are warm and fresh. Prior to your meal they bring out a mini tostada-type appetizer. The service has always been great.

I am not a frequent traveler to Seattle, however accidentally discovered this nice Mexican place. The environment was remarkably relaxed, and the host was fantastic. The menu is typical Mexican, unlike fusion Mexican. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were quite fresh. The dish 'Mole' and Fajitas were delicious, even the pure beans and rice were fresh and flavourful. I live in California, so familiar with the spectrum of Mexican food places. Cocina was one of the few that skew towards a definite positive side.

I visited Fogón Cocina quite by accident last night on my way to get pizza. Excellent Mexican. Happy hour torta and tacos are highly recommended. Verde enchaladas were a bit lacking in sauce, but I love my enchalada sauce! Regardless, I might go back for happy hour tonight. Who needs pizza anyway. Gripe; complementary tortilla chips are thicker than I prefer, and salsa was okay. Pleasant suprise; music included Springsteen, U2, The Police, Elton John, etc which I actually preferred over the ranchero music that I usually hear in a Mexican restaurant.

I hesitated on the excellent rating only because the service was a bit slow, but in their defense it was a Monday (Jan 2) and they were slammed. I am not sure they had planned for that. They did bring us each a complimentary tiny tostada while we waited for our order. The queso fondido was amazing -- as was all of the other food. Great find!

It's no wonder that Fogon is so crowded and has a queue waiting for tables past 9pm ... the food is delicious and quite reasonably priced for Seattle. I ate the al pastor tacos and my wife had a carne asada plate -- quite large for her so she shared with me. Including a sangria, tax+tip and the bill was under $40. The restaurant was quite accommodating in letting my large group sneak in with a reservation, and there was no one racing us to pay the check and get out (which may also explain the queue at the door!). I also heartily recommend the churros, served with different fillings and a great way to finish our meal. Electric vibe here as well.

A good friend that is a local of Seattle took us here. Great experience! They have excellent Happy Hour selections. My wife ordered a Margarita and I ordered the Tequila Shot with a 32 oz. Corona. They were excellent and well priced. We proceeded to order the fish tacos and pollo asado tacos. Both were delicious. We even ordered some shrimp ceviche. We had a great experience and really enjoyed the food.

As you enter the restaurant, you immediately pass a small stand where hand made tortillas are made, and the smell is so welcoming! Their margaritas are awesome and everyone seems to know each other, lots of regulars and 1-2 owners are usually on the floor as well, greeting customers. The owners and staff seem to be very proud of their busy restaurant. It's busy, because the food is VERY GOOD! For vegans like me, the Vegetarian Tacos are to die for, (have had them 2X now!) and on my next visit, Vegetarian Fajitas! (It's listed as vegetarian, because it comes with cheese, but for vegans, ask for "no cheese"...hopefully FOGON will soon carry vegan cheese and vegan sour cream like El Chupacabra does. FOGON's black beans also have no pork, so they are vegan and YUMMY!!

Concierge at Seattle Renaissance suggested Fogon. Great recommendation. Food was excellent and service was great. Our server, Uriel, was awesome. Highly recommend the ceviche! Guacamole was also great.

First of all LOUD. Do not go here for good conversation with friends and family. Romanophile had his test for the first time in a Mexican restaurant -- Chile Rellno -- nothing special very average. Green chile with chips was bland Roja sauce was fine but not great. Most of our group did not finish their meal -- too much food! Great if you joined Weight Watchers and are trying to get your weight out where you can watch it!! Mezcal margarita was ok but delivered in a drink shaker and a small glass so that ice kept melting in the shaker and diluting the drink. Nice idea but in practice dilutes the drink. We probably will not go again.

This was some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! I would recommend it to anyone! Our server Brenda was very good as well.

Very tasy food, efficient service and a lively albeit sometimes noisy atmosphere. Casual dining. Would recommend

Just in Seattle for a short getaway and needed some good Mexican food. Found it ! The trio of salsas and chips very good then we had the shrimp diablo, spicy as warned, excellent quality and a very tasty complex sauce, carne asada very good and great and generous margs. Nice hospitality, eat there.

This truly is a great restaurant/bar on Capital Hill. The staff is very pleasant and attentive, at times one did not need to ask for a new drink or additional water, they were there already. The happy hour is great, good prices several tasty options, food and drink. They had many creative and tasty cocktails, not skimping on the booze. The "bartender's margarita" was delicious, and I like any drink that is not served in a small highball glass. Thank you, you gave me confidence that a latino restaurant can do more than tacos and beans.

Our new favourite Mexican restaurant in Seattle. Extensive menu choices, superb family running it and the El Toro cocktail makes this a must-visit place for Mexican in Seattle. We visited twice in recent weeks and both times avoided the regular "combos" and went wth house specialties (Chili Colorado, and Pollo Crema were faves) . Next trip to Seattle, we're bound to be there again as there are so many choices on the menu.... And while sitting there watching them being served at other tables made us want to try the whole list.

I’m literally still salivating about this food, even a day after! Got recommended this place by our Uber driver, and it seriously delivered on every level. A tin-pot rip-off of a Mexican, it is not. It’s totally legit and delivers a sensory explosion of flavour in your mouth. I could go on about this place for a long time, but there really is no need. If you’re in Seattle, you Simply have to go! I got the Pollo A-la Creme, and it was to die for; accompanied by a Diablo (Spicy) Margarita, and I was on to a true winner. Go, just go!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and it is now my new favorite! The fish tacos were excellent as well as the chili verde. Will be back very soon to have the ceviche and try the tamales. Don't know how a previous reviewer could say the food was just "ok". Visit this place...outstanding and laid back.

It was my first visit to this restaurant and I have to say I was not disappointed. The staff were kind and quick, the menu has a lot to offer, mainly Mexican cuisine but also with some Central American infusion here and there. The quality of the food was great and the athmosphere of the place was the right one.

Service here has always been amazing. Great mexican food that is made to order and piping hot. Flavors are amazing. Love their complimentary tostada app that comes out. Would highly recommend.

Oh, my goodness. I get a little sad, sometimes, when I remember all the good Mexican food we ate when we lived in Los Angeles. It is hard to come by in Seattle (where we now live). We finally found a couple of places that are good, but Fogón will be my go-to place for a very long time (maybe FOREVER.) We were attempting to go to another place but I hadn't checked the hours and didn't realize they were closed on Mondays. Walking back from the closed place to the car, we passed Fogón and faint with hunger pangs, I said, "Let's just go here." When we sat down, we noticed the little stone counter up front where you could watch the woman making the fresh tortillas. And then someone brought us a little "amuse bouch" (for lack of a better word. What's the Spanish word for that?) - just a simple tortilla with refried beans, cheese, shredded cabbage, and some sort of sauce. I would have ordered it as an appetizer or meal, it was so good. I then chose the ceviche starter (shrimp) - I could have eaten ten of these. Delicious, bright, and fresh. I completely forget what my husband got, I was so absorbed in my own food. I asked the waiter if he thought I should get the Chile Relleno (a favorite of mine) or the fish taco. He declared I should ABSOLUTELY get the fish taco, that they make the best fish tacos I'll ever have, and that the fish is marinated overnight and then sauteed (not fried.) Fish taco, it is! Good god, he wasn't kidding. I've been on a fish taco kick lately - I had some baja fish tacos at the Ballard Seafood Festival a couple weeks prior that were so good I went back for seconds. The fish tacos here at Fógon blew them away. The tacos were loaded with shredded cabbage, etc and the fish was DELICIOUS. I'll have a hard time trying anything else next time we go here. The staff was super friendly and attentive, the place was clean and overall it was a great time. I cannot wait to go back. (sidenote: we recently returned from a weekend trip to soCal where I ate yet more fish tacos. I'm starting to think I have a problem... anyway, I remembered Fogon while eating my shrimp taco in Santa Barbara and thought YUP. Fogón will totally satisfy my soCal taco cravings.)

Wehad dinner here once while visiting Seattle. The restaurant was quite crowded but after a short wait we got one table for two. The restaurant actually was quite noisy, it was hard to have a conversation. After we read the menus and wanted to order, we were told that the oven was broken and certain dishes were not available today. This information we would have liked to get first wiht the menu, because we had to change our decisions. We both chose a chicken dish which was also available with other meat e.g. steak. The food came out fast, but both our dishes were made with steak instead of chicken, so we had to return them. After another short wait we got the right dishes and the food was good but nothing "special".

Delicious food. I had the vegetarian tacos which was served with black beans and were really good. My wife had the street tacos which she enjoyed even though she doesn't appreciate spicy. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is good. We walked to the restaurant so I'm not sure about parking. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Recommended.

We searched on-line and took a gamble based on other reviews; we were very pleased. Even the Nachos here are authentically delicious! Great service, good drink specials, awesone taste and value. Relaxed and friendly just like Mexico and in a intersting location in Seattle. We even found free parking close enough by!

The Bartender's margarita was super tasty, and they didn't skimp on the tequila! The pork street tacos...mmm mmm so good!!!

My family and I were visiting Seattle and stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our 3 children, who are usually very picky, loved their food. The margaritas and enchiladas were excellent, as well as the tacos. We would definitely go back again!

Very good food. I like the tostada appetizer. The service was remarkably good. They have pinto beans too.

Fogon Cocina Mexicana delivered just what we were craving! The food was full of bold, vibrant flavors that brought the whole table to life, and the drinks kept the energy flowing perfectly all night. Each bite felt like a little celebration of Mexican comfort food done right, and the cocktails were just the refreshing pairing we needed. The atmosphere added to the fun too warm, welcoming, and lively without feeling too overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a casual meal but still feel like you’re treating yourself to something special.

Happened on this restaurant as we were wandering Seattle. We arrived right after they opened for the day, so the restaurant was not busy. The service was fantastic. Loved the food! Fun atmosphere - looked pretty new - not sure if it is. The food was fresh and satisfying. Would definitely go back on my next visit!

First time there. Ordered the Mole. Meh. Bland. Very disappointing. Chicken was a bit too dry as well. My friend ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp though, and he said it was great. The beans/rice were also simply "ok". Nothing special there. The drinks were strong though. Salsa they serve w/ the chips had a bit of a kick, and a nice flavor. The place was crazy loud, and we had to wait for a table. I might go back for a happy hour, but for food, I think there are better Mexican places all around.

Incredible authentic mexican food prepared fresh when ordered. I was impressed by the friendly service, tasty foods and delicious drinks. The atmosphere is awesome. Will definitely be back. You have wowed us all, thank you!!!!!

Love the little tostada appetizer that they give each guest upon arrival! The ceviche is fresh and delicious, their carne asada is one of the best dishes on the menu. The place is always very busy, the vibe is happy great tunes, although both the right place if you're looking for quiet dinner, it is great for eating well and people watching.

One of the best places to get some easy, deliciously flavored Mexican food! Always have great, friendly service. Try: Pollo ala Crema, Tacos al Carbon, Carne Asada, Norteno burrito and the Ultimate Margarita

We had a great dinner and the service was excellent as well. The street tacos were awesome and so was the burrito that we ordered. I would recommend eating at this restaurant and I plan on eating there again tomorrow.

Everything I have ordered on the happy hour menu, is delicious and great price. Staff is great too! Popular place.

I brought a business colleague here and we had a great meeting! The place was jumping on Friday night - and we were late. But the maître d' found us a seat. The noise level is high - but that adds to the charm and excitement of this great Seattle restaurant!

This was the best Mexican food I have had in Seattle to date! All the ingredients were fresh, the food was flavorful, the drink menu was impressive, and the prices were reasonable. Free chips and salsa are not served, but each person receives a free appetizer, which was a nice (and tasty) surprise. I was immediately impressed upon walking through the front door and seeing someone there making fresh tortillas- probably the best I have ever had- and our entrees did not disappoint. My ceviche was perfect and the portion was quite generous; my husband had a variety of tacos and they were all excellent as well. The ambiance in Fogon was another plus; the servers were quick and friendly, the decor was classy, and the place was VERY clean (always a good sign). We will definitely be back on one of our next Seattle trips!

Among the noteworthy aspects of this place are: the outside small counter where you can sit and have a drink while waiting for your table, the wide selection of marguerita drinks, the good humor of the serving crew, easy access of the place in the capitol hill area, and some of the inventive menu items. My wife had some street tacos, which were okay, but the star of our three selections was the enchilada di mariscos; seafood enchilada. One of the drawbacks of this place is that it is a bit noisy, but you can handle this. The adjoining bar, el lugar -- the place-- is the same owner. For three about $110, with drinks and tips. Favorite for first dates I see. I hope the couples had good experiences. Bon appetit!

We stumbled upon this place and we are glad we did. The bartenders made some really good drinks, especially the margaritas. If you get a mimosa...they are huge. The food was awesome, especially the street tacos. This is definitely some of the best Mexican food I have had and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to get back.

Went on a Thursday night and the place was buzzing. Only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated though. Food came expeditiously. Had ceviche, which was plenty for 3 people and could have easily served 4. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Our cocktail drinker loved the cocktails. Good selection of beers and wine was passable. Very much enjoyed the experience.

They start the experience with a little treat on the house, it was that day a mini bean tostada, nice touch!! Margarita was great and nice size, the tostadas on the menu with the chicken tinga were great, the chorizo queso was rich, the house made chips were the best, the bisteca and chili Colorado were awesome, next time I'm in Seattle I'll be there!!

Incredible! I was craving some good ceviche and this place hit the spot. Al pastor and fish tacos were a hit! The Jamaica margs were on point as well. Daily drink specials and excellent lunch menu. I highly recommend this joint!

I was perhaps not quite as hungry as I might normally have been when I stopped here for lunch. Though it took awhile to decide what to try, I did enjoy the food and would definitely like to return.

This a great place if you are in the mood for traditional Mexican food in a laid back atmosphere. The staff is great and made sure we had all we needed. The ultimate margarita is delicious and the food is fresh and great tasting. We went back again the next night it was so good.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how good and how authentic the food was. My husband got the happy hour ceviche expecting a smaller portion. It was not, and he could not eat it all even though he thought it was great. I ordered the pollo burrito. It was probably one of the best I've eaten but it was huge. The waiter was friendly and very efficient Would definitely eat here again

Extremely good Mexican food, unbelievably delicious. Everything in their menu is top notch, although the shrimp cocktail is served hot? It’s usually a cold dish, but whatever, this restaurant deserves the spotlight. If anything, it’s surprising it doesn’t have a TripAdvisor award by now. Stop by and have a fiesta full of fun and a margarita to compliment, why not…….

Food was great, prices reasonable, service courteous and prompt while remaining pleasantly discrete. However… the noise level in this place was a constant 110 decibels, making polite conversation merely a wish. The place looks nice, and has a great location. With a few tablecloths and maybe just sheer curtains, the edge would be off the noise and this place would be a lot closer to the old-world charmer it attempts.

We’ve been told about the great happy hour deals at this restaurant, which was full of people so we sat at the Bar. We ordered drinks, a beer and a Margarita. They gave us endless Taco chips and Salsa, spicy tomato and brought us my favourite Green salsa (Verde) when I asked for it. I ended up ordering the Skirt Steak (Carne Asada) Tacos, which weren’t on the happy hour menu, but I wasn’t sorry, as they were delicious! I ordered the "Pollo Asado" Burrito later but it wasn’t as good, more pricey and mostly rice and beans. I had a nice India Pale Ale (LUSH) from Fremont Brewing with my meal but learned it was 8% abv. (they claim 7%) so I switched to the Nego Modella, Mexican beer. I used to really like Mexican beer until I started drinking craft beer. Now I find it pretty plain. My Sweetie had better luck; She had the happy hour Quesada and liked it so much she ordered it again for dinner. She said the Margaritas were among the best she'd ever had.

Fogon Cocina Mexicana is located on Capitol Hill, in a semi residential area. A great variety of items both on the dinner menu as well as on the beverage page. Fabulous cocktails, fresh, on the premise made tortillas, every dish absolutely delicious. Fantastic service. We were surprised with an on the house appetizer, which I guess they do for every one. And the prices, so affordable, especially for high quality Mexican food. I highly recommend this place to anyone, hungry for an authentic Mexican meal.

I come here often with my best friend as we really like the staff, service and food/drinks. The menu is not over whelming as some other Mexican restaurants where you are turning page after page. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Unlike other Mexican restaurants your food is not placed in front of you right after you order.

I had dinner here tonight with my dad and a friend. It was delicious! The service was great, and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend eating here!

Came into town for a girls weekend and we went to Fogon for the first time. Delicious food and great atmosphere. I had the carne rancherita and it was a little spicier than I thought it would be but otherwise delicious.

You will see the restaurant easily as people are waiting outside. The place is fairly small and loud. It can become very loud. The menu proposes many options. Tacos were delicious. Ceviche was short of raw fish. You are served quickly by attentive waiters

Strolling down Pine Street not too hungry, we stumbled upon this restaurant. The smell of the fresh tortillas was so yummy. We decided to spilt the tamales and they did NOT disappoint. We weren’t planning on getting chips and salsa but did and finished every bite. We were torn to get the mole instead and the manager, Gary, brought over a bowl of the mole (to enjoy with with our tamales). It was SO good!!! My husband finished it with a spoon. This restaurant was so welcoming and delightful. We look forward to returning.

The food here is what I'd call A-OK, but the atmosphere (sprightly and kinda loud), location (very accessible), price (adequate), portion size (generous), and menu selection (large) make it one of my top to-go places to chill with friends on any random night. This despite their usually dismal waiting times (average of 45 minutes any night). But then again, it IS the Hill (or Capitol Hill, for welcome out-of-towners), and if my years in Seattle have taught me anything, it is that restaurant waiting times are only lengthening. They start you up with the standard Mexican restaurant chips. Nothing special, but you gotta watch it, or you'll get full on these while you wait for your order. The salsa does the job, but it's nothing you'll write home about. My favorite dish is the Chicken Torta, or Mexican sandwich, if you will. The key here are the avocado (yum!!!!), and refried black beans. Oh, and the jalapeno peppers, for that Mexican zest. You can order them with carne asada (beef), or chicken. Although I love carne asada, I normally go for the chicken when ordering tortas. It comes with a soup or a salad, but I usually have more than enough with the torta itself, so I can't remember the last time I've had either, hahahaha! If I'm super hungry, I may instead have the Carne Asada. This is a real meal, with rice (it's Mexican food, after all!), pico de gallo, guacamole (of course!!!), and flour tortillas--yasssss!!!! I love the slightly charred meat flavor. Their desserts, and I know I will get some angry looks for this, are not the best. But they will do, if you're in the mood for an after-dinner sweet taste. Anyway, plan to arrive about 1 hour ahead of time, set aside any expectations for great service, come hungry and with your own crowd, and you will have a great time!

I've eatten here a number of times and am never disappointed. I love the Bartenders Margarita and the Ceviche is always a fav. The Beef Tongue Tacos are so tender and flavorful. They make tortillas in house and serve a complimentary Tostada that is a great start to your dining here. Can't wait to return.

Fogon has a comfortable atmosphere and tasteful décor which makes for a wonderful night out with friends, family or a romantic dinner. The food is very authentic, I specially like the Enchiladas Rojas and the Pollo a la Crema - yum!

The food was authentic and the portion sizes were very generous. Th3 staff was very attentive. We will add this to our list of places to eat in Seattle.

I love Fogon. My favorite go to place in the city. Amazing Mexican food and incredible happy hour! Cheap drinks plus yummy cheap food. Plus, they bring out free tostadas to everyone! I even bring all of my out of town guests here!

First there was La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard. Once you discovered the food from Oaxaca it was hard to go anywhere else for Mexican food, even if the parking in Ballard was a pain. Then the same family opened the Mezcaleria on Queen Anne and there were two choices. Next up was Capitol Hill and Oaxacan has exploded here with multiple options. Most notably is Fogon, the first to open on E Pine and they are easily meeting the standard set by La Carta. The food is every bit as amazing. Where they stand out is the service. You are greeted quickly and after you reach your table, you get a complimentary antojito to enjoy while you try to choose from menu. Then there are the margaritas-in my opinion they have some of the best in the city. I usually opt for cerveza while dining out because I usually can make a better margarita than I can get in a restaurant. I have no problem ordering one here. After our latest visit, our fourth, Fogon has become our favorite-all the best of the rest and easily the best service of the choices for a Oaxacan-style meal.

I’m from originally from Texas and was in Seattle for work. Was able to meet up with a friend that I hadn’t seen in a long time and I asked her to pick a place. She had been wanting to try this place and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much as I have struggled to find any good Mexican restaurants since I’ve left Texas (and travel often). This place was authentic as it gets. I knew it the moment they brought a tostada as a “gift” from the kitchen. The refried beans were so good, they literally took me back to my childhood. The tostada also had some shredded cabbage (which if you are familiar with REAL Mexican cuisine you know is a staple), queso fresco and a little bit of homemade hot salsa. Delicioso! I couldn’t decide what I wanted after that amazing start. I ended up ordering the carne asada tacos with refried beans and rice and I was once again transported back to my childhood. Margaritas were great as was the service. I hope I get to go back again one day, they even had tortas which are hard to come by outside of Texas and Cali. Don’t change Fogon!

Very busy and the service and food were still excellent! Hand made tortillas and spicy hot sauce were a good sign and the guacamole and taco dorados (special request) were the best! Thank you for a great night!!!

The food is the closest to home made Mexican authentic food from most of the restaurants we have visited.

We were suggested spicy margaritas...Awesome! Most of us loved them!.. Fajita's tasty!...Carne Rancherita also OK the meat a bit chewy...could be better quality..but still satisfying. Perhaps they should consider smaller sized plates with better quality meats! Milanesa not what expected but also good...Guacamole very good...overall great atmosphere and experience

When we arrived at the restaurant we were told it would be a 45-60 minute wait which is fine and we thought the food must be good if it is this popular at 5pm! The waiting process is straightforward where you receive a text as soon as your table is ready, we got back and settled at the table. We were given a free starter which was fine, ordered our food of two veggie burritos and one fish taco. The food was there within about 10 minutes and barely even luke warm. Some parts of the burrito were stone cold and I was glad I wasn't eating meat!! Even the fish tacos weren't all that hot, the food was okay nothing special. I wouldn't go there again especially considering the wait for cold average food.

Fabulous food! Very authentic flavor!! Good sized portion & drinks were delicious!! Our waiter was gracious & attentive-I would highly recommend this restaurant & next time in Seattle I will return!!

This place seems to be one of the hot spots in the Capital Hill area. My wife and I went there for our anniversary as we were trying to branch out from our normal restaurant choices. We were clearly the oldest diners in the place. It was exceptionally loud so be prepared to talk with a big voice to your fellow diners. It is not the place if you are seated with a large group and do not like the person sitting next to you or expect to have a conversation with someone a few people away. Nor is it the place for a romantic dinner for two due to the volume and the fact the tables are on top of each other. The food was good but not great although I am a bit biased as I just recently had Mexican food in Los Angeles which was likely the best I have ever had in my life. Both my wife and I had the vegetarian burrito which was tasty.

My family and I had been patronizing this restaurant frequently because we enjoyed the food. Mind you, the menu does offer a flavorful rendition of Mexican fare that is much better than the traditional dishes offered elsewhere. That is why we brought our vegan relative here to try out the menu. I informed our server who also turned out (alas!) to be the manager, Gary, that my relative was vegan and I wanted to make sure that she didn't eat anything that is not just meat but any animal - derived products. For instance,we were just served free appetizers which she could not eat because of the cheese in the food item. I asked to make sure that the salsa and popitos were okay for a vegan (I did not know what were popitos). To my great surprise, Gary scoffed and was offensively condescending. He said never in all his years of serving did anyone ask if salsa had meat in it. He actually said that it was a ridiculous question. I found it bizarre that a restaurant manager did not know that a vegan does not eat not only meat but other animal-derived dishes such as dairy products. I just wanted to make sure of this matter. Moreover, he also had no right to be so demeaning and haughty especially since we are the customers and I was politely just making sure that we did not order a dish that my relative could not eat. As I mentioned, the food is indeed fine in this restaurant, but this humiliating experience from such a mean spirited and disdainful employee will make us never ever return to a restaurant that treats paying customers with such snooty and unacceptable behavior.

Read some good stuff about this place and it is well deserved. A 30 min wait to get seated and the process of a text when the table is the best way to wait as you can go off and sample local bars etc. However it fell down as it was beyond it to contact a U.K. registered mobile so we just returned and a table was waiting. Drinks well priced, and expertly mixed which set us up well for the food. Great plate of tortilla chips with the best guacamole I’ve had for some time and a hot 🥵 salsa. The mains were excellent, good fresh and served hot which is always welcome. We left stuffed and very happy with a surprising reasonable bill. This was one of the best meals we had on a 3 week vacation. Wished I lived a bit closer than 5,000 miles away as its the sort of place I’d be visiting regularly!

Arrived in Seattle and wanted to celebrate National Taco Day. Did a little research and decided to try Fogon Cocina. So glad I did!! We were seated right away (arrived at 4:15, just ahead of a lot of hungry/thirsty patrons) and were presented with a small complimentary appetizer. Yummy, and such a nice touch. I had a spicy margarita which was true to its name!! Also tried a couple of items on their happy hour menu, everything was very tasty. My only wish was that my tummy could have held some more food! Everything was fresh and delicious!

Get there for happy hour! Order the $8 margaritas, you get the whole shaker! The spicy one is truly spicy. Tortilla soup, Churros, happy hour food choices all fabulous. Terrific service, ladies there hand-making all the tortillas!

OK, let's get this out of the way first: I adore this place. This very well may be the best value Mexican restaurant in the Pacific Northwest. The nachos with shredded beef were so packed with deliciousness and so perfectly composed that I would not have been surprised to be charged TWICE the $9 cost! It's like getting fine Mexican cuisine at Taco Bell garbage prices. Everything was just perfect, including the awesome, quick, and attentive service. Be forewarned, this place is BUSY so you are well advised to reserve well ahead.

Having moved from the Midwest, we were relatively certain that we were not going to have authentic cuisine in Seattle. We have looked and looked. Well, we found it. Make reservations or go early because the place was packed with a constant line of people outside staring hungrily in the window. As a caution, use discretion when ordering. Two of us shared a chips/salsa/guacamole combination. I had a 1/2 order of the most delicious tortilla soup, chocked full of chicken and avocado. I am frightened to think what the full order looked like. My husband had the two pork tamales. While I only got a bite, he devoured them. We then overdid it and ordered a chili relleno to share. I would have like the chili to be a little more cooked and the cheese a bit more melted. But at that point, we really didn't care as we were stuffed. The beans and rice had great flavor as well. The handmade corn tortillas were silky and delicious. The only time I have had as good was in San Jose del Cabo. Nice bar, good atmosphere, friendly waitstaff (who were spread a bit thin, but tag teamed to make it a good experience. I had the jicama aqua fresca, while my husband had a margarita. Both were good.

Went on here for the good reviews. I wasn't disappointed at all. I ordered the beef flautas. They were really good. Only thing was that it was only 3 flautas, I was expecting rice and beans but maybe because the flautas were in the appetizer selections. Idk I would have to read the menu again to find out. My husband had the beef fajitas. He did like them, they were just a little too greasy but had good flavor. Definitely try again ! Oh and the waiter did come by and say this is a free appetizer and handed us a tostada each. Delicious tostada!

Margaritas are amazing, the best since I was in Tecate, Mexico. The skirt steak tacos were incredibly authentic. And whatever they brought us out for "salsa and chips" was to die for. Oh and the salsas were the most authentic north of Mexico boarder. If your in Seattle, EAT HERE!!!!!!

This was by far the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Upon your arrival, you are seated at the table and given a tostada. The tostada is covered in cheese beans and chicken. Our drink order was then taken and we were given chips and salsa. The chips were excellent and so was the salsa. The salsa was on the spicy side, which we loved. Our main dish was tacos El Pastor-they were delicious. Superb service, food, and drinks. We will definitely visit this restaurant again.

The dishes we had at Fogon were very good. Enchiladas Verde and Enchiladas de Mariscos. Good portions, nicely presented. We would have enjoyed this venue more if a)the heating were turned on and b)the seats had cushioning. The room was drafty and chilly, the hard seats cold. Not conducive for relaxing and enjoying the evening. In fact we opted against dessert as we were looking forward to warming up elsewhere.

I saw this place in TripAdvisor as the highest ranked Mexican restaurant in Seattle. They do not take reservations, so its first come first serve........we got there and had to wait 40 minutes to get a table. Got a few drinks in hand and hanged around outside till our table was ready. Service, i thought was very slow and the waiting staff were just rushed off their feet......another 15 minutes before a young lady came up and said she was our server.....then another 10 minutes before she came back to take our order and top up the drinks. I had the chicken rancho offering that was on special, which i found cold and tasteless. My friends has different dishes, all bordering on cold / lukewarm. We asked several times to have the meals re-heated......... Overall, i would not make the trip back to this place.........it is well over hyped!!

It was fine. Literally nothing special but completely decent for what we got. We ordered chicken nachos, sopitos and pollo asada tacos. It was a step up from your average Mexican restaurant in decor and the bar but the food was seriously lacking in flavor.

Busy Mexican that serves healthy portions of food (I had to take some of mine home). Guacamole starter is a must (as always). Might wanna consider booking or getting there early. I was there Thursday night and the queues were getting bigger as I left.

Coming from Texas, we know Mexican food, and expected that Fogon Cocina Mexicana would not measure up. But we were wrong. The Margaritas were terrific (try to get there during happy hour). We had Enchiladas de Mariscos (seafood enchiladas), Chile Colorado, and Queso Fundido (a baked dish that includes goat cheese, garlic, poblano peppers, and Spanish chorizo). Everything was wonderful. Fogon Cocina Mexicana has outstanding Mexican food in Seattle! And their prices are reasonable.

I grew up in Southern California and was so sad when I couldn't find good Mexican food after moving to Seattle. Fogon has saved me!! I have a soft spot for camarones a la diabla, which lights my tongue on fire, but is OH SO GOOD.. and Fogon does it right!! I crave it regularly and I'm so lucky that Fogon makes it well.. because I try it at every Mexican restaurant I go to, and most places leave me disappointed. But Fogon never disappoints!! Another highlight of Fogon are the awesome homemade tortillas. LOVE the tortillas. I'm picky about tortillas, and I'm picky about chips. Both are great at Fogon. Carne asada is great, enchiladas are great... everything is great at Fogon!! I'm craving it right now as I write this review. I think I will have to visit them soon! :)

I've been to Fogon Cocina before but not for their happy hour. I won't make that mistake again. I was very impressed with their offerings as well as the generous Ultimate Margarita. I had the Quesadilla Frito which was delicious and crispy, not greasy at all. I also had the chicken tacos which were generous and equally delicious and very nicely seasoned with just the right amount of heat. My friend had the Enchiladas Verde off the regular menu. More traditional in presentation with mexican rice and refried beans. He enjoyed them so much I didn't get a chance to snag a bite. Efficient, friendly service we sat in the bar area and watched some basketball while enjoying our time there.

Our first Mexican meal after arriving in the States from the UK. We enjoy spicy food and went on to have a few more on our travels but this was by far the best. The restaurant was busy but we were seated quickly and service was excellent, for drinks, menus and dishes. We had not booked and later saw queues waiting for a table so we were lucky. The ambience was also very good. Throughly enjoyed it.

This place is definitely popular judging by the crowds I always see. After eating here a few times, it's easy to see why. The food is excellent, varied and extremely fresh. Portions are quite decent and I don't find it overpriced for what you get. Chips/salsa aren't complimentary as many come to expect, but what you do get is of high quality. I enjoy how the Enchiladas Rojas comes with a bit of Carne Asada. I would definitely say the margaritas are among the best in Seattle. Quite potent and they are happy to make modifications to them if there is an ingredient that you don't care for. (I like Mango Margaritas, and their's happen to come with mint. Easily obtained without mint). Service is always excellent and friendly. Drink service can suffer a bit and it can be quite noisy during peak times, but overall these are minor things that would not distract me from coming back. I have yet to visit during a non-peak time, so I can only blame myself. :) I'd definitely recommend reservations for Fri/Sat nights, made ahead of time (not day of unless you get real lucky.) Overall, an excellent, lively restaurant with quality food and drink. I'll be back!

This food just made us happy! Each dish we tried was fresh and delicious, even after bringing it back to our hotel room. Loved the chips and salsa too! Still craving it even though 3,000 miles away!

After a 8+ hour trek to Seattle, I was looking for something really good. When it pops up on my feed a place that is 4.5 stars, it is automatically put into consideration. We were so hungry when we came in, so everything on the menu looked so good. It was during happy hour, so there was a lot of cheap food available. What I ended up ordering were the al pastor tacos & nachos, one friend ordered the pollo asado burrito, and another ordered the pollo asado torta. While we were waiting for our food, they were kind enough to give us complimentary tostada de tinga. That was a really good appetizer. And when the actual food came out, I got super excited. My tacos weren't what I was expecting amount wise. I was expecting two tortillas per taco, when it only came with one. But for what it was, it was so delicious. I had a bite of my friend's torta and burrito and they both were so good too. The nachos were wonderful too. I devoured that thing like none other once my tacos were finished. Definitely recommend this place for good, cheap food for anyone in Seattle or visiting the Seattle area.

Living in the Bay Area of San Francisco I am a picky Mexican restaurant diner. Fogon exceeded my expectations in all categories, despite being probably one of thge busiest nights of the year as the proceeds benefited AIDS charitites. GREAT margaritas, creative dishes, good service. Noise is loud, but perhaps would be less on another night.

Friendly staff and very accommodating, good ambiance and food. An ok choice! The selection of Mexican beers wasn't very wide.

I liked it, ummm, expected to love it, but didn't. Noisy place, not the place to go for conversation, good eats, ya maybe. Had a better tortilla soup than I had here. Would I go back? Yes, I would most definitely give them another try, maybe they had an off night, maybe I had the off night. If you are in the area, worth a stop, but in my books, nothing spectacular.

I mostly frequent Fogon during happy hour and it never disappoints. From the free tostada, to the happy hour chicken nachos, I never leave hungry or unhappy. On top of good food, the service is usually very good and they will make sure you get everything you need. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We dined at this restaurant with some Mexican friends last night. These friends are pretty picky about where they go to eat Mexican food so, understandably, it was quite good. It is definitely not your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. The menu has many traditional Mexican dishes and everything I tried was excellent. Be advised, however, that this place is very popular at night. It took us nearly an hour to get a table. Service could have been a little better, but then is was very busy.

Amazing food. The only true Mexican restaurant in Seattle. The abondigas soup is spicy and traditional. The Milanese chicken is thin juicy with a splash of lemon. Be careful not to eat too many incredible chips. They will poll your meal. They have a woman in front that just makes corn tortillas and they are amazing. The restaurant uses them for their chips which is brilliant. Service can be a bit slow if it is busy but who cares, have a cucumber martini and munch away.

Simply Amazing! Coming from true Mexican, this is authentic Mexican food. I felt like I was back in my grandmothers kitchen. They serve you a homemade bean tostada when you are seated. Freshly homemade beans, homemade tortillas, and their salsa is to die for. The margaritas were perfect and the ambient is chill, relaxed, even for our two kids. Loved the service.

I found out about Fogon Cocina Mexicana on TripAdvisor and had to check it out. The food, service, and prices were great. I had the tortilla soup and street tacos. Both were amazing. The happy hour deals are great too. I will be back next time I'm in Seattle!

A group of 14 people went there for lunch and we really enjoyed the quality of food, ingredients and overall excellent experience. From the homemade tortilla chips to the delicious appetizers, ALL of us really enjoyed the food. I didn't hear one negative comment about the different dishes that we had. I had the enchiladas Mariscos and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was excellent and they really did a good job taking care of us.

Funky Mexican restaurant with unique appetizers. Huevos dishes were a hit. Lots of gluten free options. Tacos were a bit spicy but with a little sour cream, they were amazing!

My daughter and I went to Fogon Cocina for the first time today and found the restaurant itself really nice. My daughter got Fajitas and a Vampiro drink 🍸. I on the other hand tried the Enchiladas Rojas. In general we both agreed that our food was mediocre at best (we've been to some outstanding Mexican restaurants in the past), but the people and the place itself are first rate. So I gave it a 4/5. Further, they added the tip rather than allowing me to determine what I would like to give!

Love the casual vibe. Met a friend for lunch and everything we had was fresh and authentic including the chips and tortillas. Service was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back for happy hour!

Last day in town and our college grad wanted to show us his favorite haunts. Just a Lyft away from the hotel, we hit Fogon Cocina around 2:30 pm and ordered the taco trio. Our choices were verde or colorado with both pork and beef options. Delicious and just the right amount - with a cold beer -yum... Right around 3pm we asked for homemade chips and salsa, which are gratis at that part of the day, a college insider tip! The proprietor checked on us graciously and we felt as if we were in the comfort of his home. Great place right on the street. No te lo pierdas!

Fogón is the best deal, especially at happy hour. Their Margaritas are amazing and are wonderfully strong and tasty. You must get the fajitas, our waiter Belter recommended prawns and steak and it was amazing, as well as the tacos Camerones, and carne asada. The food, drinks, and service are amazing, a must go in Seattle.

We needed a quick and easy to eat meal-to-go and found good tamales here. Fairly straight forward veggie tamales that needed sauces for flair. We wished we could've eaten in (the fresh made sopas looked delicious!) but just didn't have the time. They were friendly and accommodated take-away nicely.

This is not tex-mex, but real good mexican cuisine! Lots of choice, and great atmosphere, good music.

The food was very good. I ordered queso. It was flavorful, but it was not a dipping queso. It was just melted hard cheese. Not being well versed in authentic Mexican dishes, I am not sure if this is to be expected? Anyways, still great. The rest of the group had tacos and fajitas and were very complimentary on their dishes, too. Fast service and chips and salsa are plentiful.

We were coming back from a day up Mount Rainier and was looking for a light, quick place to eat in the city. This was it, able to get parking just around the corner which is not easy in Capitol Hill. Margaritas were the special that night and they were really fresh tasting, good, and very generous at only $8 each. The homemade corn tortillas were great as chips or as tacos. Salsas, fillings, sauces were all very tasty, spicy and generous. Service was good and the price for 4 with tax and a generous tip was just under $100. This is what I call great value.

We were staying in downtown Seattle and planned to meet some local family here for dinner. We walked up from our hotel down on First avenue and were dismayed to not find the restaurant in the city core - but a quick cab ride took us up and over the freeway to East Pine Street and we ended up only being 10 minutes late. The food tasted great. We really enjoyed the guacamole, the fish tacos and the street tacos. The margarita wasn't too shabby either.

I love the location of it , I loved the set up it's a nice spot for lunch I'm telling you the food is very average I had 3 tacos asada, al pastor , chicken .. I'm from Los Angeles so I was hoping this was anywhere close to what we find here , it wasn't far from it but just not great Mexican food plus a little over priced , service was ok & yes the music is loud

Fresh tortilla, tasty drinks and awesome food keep us coming back. We've been here half a dozen times and will continue to keep coming back. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a meal

Whenever in Seattle we make a point of having a meal at Fogon. The chips , salsa, and guacamole as a starter are almost filling enough for the whole meal. Street Tacos with Carne Asada were very flavourful, tasty and satisfying. On a Saturday afternoon, not too crowded and therefore customer service was great.

Completely authentic, amazing staff, you just cannot go wrong here and the happy hour is awesome. Very mid-range with a great bar. Come for happy hour you will not be disappointed!

Stopped in here for lunch with my daughter. She says this is the best place in Seattle for Mexican. She was right very good food. good service as well. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Went for dinner. Location was good, as it was close to our hotel. As we haven't booked, we had to wait some time, but nothing to bother. system is very efficient. Atmosphere is nice, yet think twice if you're into a quiet dinner, as the place was very busy and loud. service was solid and our dishes arrived rather quickly. Food was very nice and was very easy to find options for Vegans. would recommend if you're in the area.

The food is ok but for a Mexican restaurant in Seattle is one of the best one, the service is ok, little over priced, I will come back though :)
Amazing!
Guacamole, salsa, seafood enchiladas all were delicious. Restaurant was very busy, but we were seated relatively soon, and a little appetizer arrived quickly..very tasty! We would definitely eat here again.
