So so restaurant

By May F |

It is a fairly old restaurant in Chinatown. It has reasonable price on its lunch menu. The gentleman that was ordering our food is not sure of the menu. We ordered 4 dishes. Tofu, beef, chicken and fish served with rice and 4 spring roll. The dishes looked all the same but served with just different sauce. Nothing innovative at all. Every dish has broccoli, peas, mushrooms and carrots blend with the meat and different color sauce. Taste good but not creative at all. Secondly the price on the bill was more expensive than published in the menu. That was deceiving and fraud. Not sure if I want to go there again.

Delicious food

Lemon chicken was delicious! The lemon sauce was strong but delicious! The chicken wasn't fatty. They serve complimentary hot green tea. Huge portions, very affordable.

Was the only one opened on Christmas day in Chinatown, and Rush Hour was filmed there

By Simon L |

LA Chinatown has no interest....so this restaurant which is claiming that Rush Hour was filmed there...and was the only one opened. Food was good but nothing exceptional. Service a disaster

Flavorful and fresh Chinese

By dadrulz |

Flavorful and fresh tasting Chinese food in an unassuming establishment made famous by the Rush Hour movie! Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered sweet and sour fish and it was balanced perfectly. Cod was used and it was very tender! Orange chicken was also excellent, as well as the crispy duck! Good value as well!

Small restaurant with good food in a great location...

I can't give this restaurant an excellent rating only because I haven't eaten at what I would consider to be top-notch Chinese restaurants with which to compare it to. But it is worthy of very good due to the quality, proportions, and value of the food. You also can't beat saying you dined at the restaurant where a portion of "Rush Hour" was filmed. I've read other reviews complaining about the service, but it is a small establishment so don't expect 4 or 5 servers. The servers that were available were helpful and at least attempted to fulfill our large parties needs. My nephew gave us the low-down on how to order. The servers, unlike traditional American restaurants, don't start by asking for you drink order. They simply ask what you would like to eat. YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DRINK. I though it was cool and kind of weird at the same time. They have all the traditional Chinese offerings, with a section of the menu set aside for house specialties. Our table had a "Lazy Susan", where they typically place the dishes should you want to share with your party. You have to order the mixed rice, which comes with beef, chicken, and shrimp!!! Truly tasty and filling, especially for little ones. I had the orange chicken and was surprised to find a rather sizable plate with large portions. I prefer to have white chicken in my fried plates, but I didn't skip a beat when I found only dark meat. It was that good. Our party also ordered sweet & sour chicken, which like my orange chicken, was equally tasty. We basically shared all our dishes and had plenty of left overs. I was shocked at how reasonably priced all the dishes were considering that this restaurant is suited across the street from Chinatown, a tourist hotbed. If you want good food in a famous location, look no further. Just don't expect 5-Star or Michelin level service, be realistic. You'll be pleased by the quality and value of the food. Definitely a must stop if you're in Chinatown.

Diamond in the rough

By knickerstee |

We wanted to come here for the whole 'Rush Hour' experience. Admittedly I was a little apprehensive as visually this is not ideal, run down but clean and tidy. Food however was excellent. Service friendly and welcoming. I would not hesitate to eat here again. I was worried that it would not be nice but it's a diamond in the rough, don't judge by the appearance on the outside

Blah Chinese Food

By Rose H |

Waiting for Golden Dragon Chinese New Year parade, thought we go grab lunch first. Was told to go there as JAckie Chan filmed his movie there... lousy food, Panda Express is much better and way cheaper. Ho hum Chinese food. Really disappointed, you would think Chinese restaurant in LA Chinatown, what could go wrong. Place is filthy.

Yummu

By Emily L |

We wanted to eat somewhere in Chinatown and settled on Foo Chow due to the sign informing us of the connection with Rush Hour. They were busy for a Sunday night, but our service was fast. The potstickers were excellent, chicken fried rice was good, Kung pow chicken tasty and the Buddhist Feast was nice. We’d eat there again.

Delicious Chinese Food

By wrkshy |

I am quite surprised that this restaurant had few reviews considering they serve authentic and delicious Chinese food. The chicken wings and stir-fried beef are their best sellers and yes, oh so flavorly yummy. It is also good to mention that a scene from Rush Hour 2 was shot here. They even have framed photos to prove it. So when you are in Chinatown, please have a meal here. It's worth every penny. You're welcome.

Good restaurant and nice for tourists

By Roxanne |

I came in this restaurant without knowing it was a place where Rush Hour have been shot. Honestly i don't reallu care about that, but some people could be interesting by this detail. The food is good and in great quantity ! We were only two and you can see on my picture that is pretty hudge ! I will go there again in my next visit in LA. A bit expensive but we have really a lot of food, we took what we didn't eat in take away.

Ok

The only thing that impressed is Jackie Chan's signature on the wall. The food was not good enough, the atmosphere is less then OK. Wouldn't recommend

An Average Chinese Restaurant

By Chin WS |

Went to this restaurant for lunch with my family on 17 May 2015. This restaurant has a history of having been selected in a scene in Rush Hour (starring Jacky Chan). Overall as a Chinese Malaysian having eaten better tasting Chinese dishes, the food served in this restaurant only get an average score from me. The only place in the restaurant that I do recognized that was shown in the movie Rush Hour was the staircase.

Disappointing

By CasandraTP |

We were hoping to get a fabulous meal in Chinatown, we came on a Thursday night and most places were closed and came across Foo Chow where Jackie Chan filmed Rush Hour. Unfortunately the food was just average. The dumplings were too doughy and the General Cho’s chicken and rice were nothing special and westernised. We did take the leftovers home and I have to say the barbecued pork and rice tasted better the next day. I really wouldn’t bother and try somewhere else.

Great Chinese Food in Chinatown!

By 52MarthaP |

Went with 3 other women, for a late night dinner after a gallery art show just around the corner. We shared vegetarian dishes only - dry-fried string beans with soft tofu, spicy eggplant, vegetarian moo shoo, and green onion pancakes. All were delicious! I would definitely go again!

Great Food

I know many said not to go here but I found what I had to be excellent today in the General Tao's Chicken and steamed rice. In fact one of the best I had at at Chinese restaurant.

Foo-Chow Chinatown Los Angeles

By rojasbrosfood |

The restaurant is not what it was before, it is very clean, good attention, very normal food without being anything special, we ordered some fried chicken dumplings (they were very good), a special fried rice from the house (well), and a Mongolian style meat (very normal), it was soft, it lacked flavor (salt). It's very economical to eat there. With what we ordered we ate 3 people.

Great food for a good price!

By AnsJansen |

We have eaten here twice during our holiday. Fast service and super eaten for a nice price. The dishes are big and we have shared the 2nd time.

Great!!!

By HenryLosAngeles |

I have been dining at Foo Chow for several years. We go there whenever we are in downtown LA for a play or symphony. It's not especially fancy, and the service is not great, but the food is absolutely fabulous. Most of the restaurants in Chinatown are mediocre at best. This is authentic and very highly recommended. Order the dumplings and chicken with cashew nuts. In fact, we have never ordered anything there that wasn't well prepared. And the prices are exceedingly reasonable to boot!

Best Chinese I ever has

By Tierra |

we searched for this place after watching the movie, Rush Hour, it was so good and the prices were affordable

Second visit. We will be back!

By Kvacay |

Restaurant was on rush hour. They have very good weekday lunch specials. We ate sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, egg drop soup, and fried crab wontons. Everything was fresh, good, and service was quick. It's exactly as it was in the movie...(slightly outdated..) but very good nonetheless. We will be back again.

A place Iwant to go everytime I'm in L.A.

Nice inexpensive authentic Chinese

By luvbabedave01 |

Very good, my financee and I always dine here. The people are very nice, attentive, the food is good, better then fast food chinese. Good quality, I have been to some authentic higher end dining spots but for the price it is very good.

Good time!

By Brian |

I came here to eat because this was where they did some filming for Rush Hour and it was actually a really nice experience! They play some really nice music and the customer service was really nice here! I tried duck for the first time and it was pretty good! They allows me to walk around the top floor just to check it out. It's really nice and if you are a fan of rush hour, eating here is always a good option.

Old school since 1977

By Creeping_Death_LA |

Just as note for all the movie fans out there they filmed Rush Hour (1998) here. They offer dinner specials with a list of different main courses for 23 dollars which includes soup, appetizers, steam rice, and tea. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and to my surprise it was a lot of food, enough to box up and take some home.

Yum

By sarahv70 |

Look, it's not the poshest place, but for less than $15 you get a main, rice, soup, shrimp and tea. We couldn't finish our meals, huge portions. Obviously the main charm here is it being in Rush Hour, and there are signed pics on the walls.

A must see

By jjnlina |

Nice to see a place in the movies. They have signed pictures of the Rush Hour cast on the wall. It's not very big inside but you do get your moneys worth. The food is good but the service wasn't that great. Server was not very friendly. Seemed ittritated with people taking pictures. In my opinion, if you don't like it, dont advertise the movie.

Don't miss the early bird rush

By Albywon |

Just missed the early bird dinner special (ended at 5.30pm) but got the $11.95 special which included rice, mixed entree and wonton soup (see photos). The food was plentiful (see photos) but too much oil used and the beef wasn't exactly prime. The wonton soup was nice though and the spring roll and fried prawns also lovely. Rush Hour starring Jackie Chan used this building for some scenes, upstairs I assume. Overall a recommend!

Pretty good restaurant with authentic food

By Kevin310680 |

The food came fast and was really authentic and great food. The waitress we had was extremely accommodating, even though we had a problem with the food. My younger brothers had braces and loose teeth( age 7) and couldn't eat some of the food we ordered, and the waitress replaced that dish with another, better dish. Overall, I would say that the food was great and the staff extremely nice.

YUM!!

By Hollijean |

We ate here twice while we were in town it was that good. Kinda small inside but the food is hot and fresh when they deliver it to your table. Excellent menu with a lot to chose from and daily lunch specials are an excellent price. I would fly back to LA just to eat here again.

Good food with reasonable price

By Adam L |

A simple Chinese restaurant in China Town. The boss was very friendly toward us. All of us enjoyed the food and it was authentic. The price was very reasonable and I was expecting much higher price as the restaurant is situated in a tourist area. Really value for money! Highly recommend to anyone who visit China Town. BTW - Jackie Chan was one of their customers.

Plentiful, and Reasonable

By Brian C |

Excellent luncheon deals. $4.50 or $5.50 or $6.50 lunches include soup and steamed rice. It is a complete meal--and very tasty. Located right in Chinatown, the sign begs you to see what's inside. "Jackie Chan's Best Seller Movie Was Shot Here". Food is very good, and table service was very gracious. The $5.50 lunches include chicken with assorted vegetables. Plenty of food to share with another person. Beer and wine is available--and inexpensive.

Delicious, Affordable, Well decorated

By BeachLuvr1960 |

Delicious, Affordable, Well decorated restaurant. After 1st visit to Chinatown, L.A. we had to go back here to eat lunch. It was recommended by a shop keeper across the street. Good food and the lunch specials were well priced. Nice atmosphere. We will be back again. I am not aware of cocktails being offered or not.

Dine in vs Take out

By Alice W |

We went there because the movie Rush Hour was filmed there. The food was fair to good however the service was very poor maybe they was under staffed that day. If you order take out maybe a better chose which many customers did ...
