We had been wanting to dine at Fork for some time. As we were enjoying our delicious dinner, we asked ourselves “why did we wait so long?” Our recommendation is to order the House Menu. For the very reasonable price of $78.00, guests are served four courses along with several bite sized appetizers that are not on the menu. There are four to five varied selections for each course. We enjoyed a crab and radish appetizer, black pepper malfatti, tilefish, duroc pork, apple walnut ice cream and pear sesame tart. There is a well stocked bar, the service is stellar and the atmosphere is upscale. The only drawback is, as the restaurant fills, the decibel level dramatically increases. Avoid this by dining a bit earlier or later than the most popular times.

My husband and I enjoyed a relaxed dinner here on our first trip to Philadelphia. This quaint restaurant is just 2 blocks from the Liberty Bell making it an ideal place for an early dinner after a day touring. My husband chose a mushroom risotto which was rich with fresh mushrooms and firm peas. I started with the pea soup that was the perfect balance of smooth minty sweetness contrasted with crunchy peas and slightly tart pickled vegetables. My main course was halibut perfectly seared yet moist and tender swimming in a flavorful mushroom broth. Yum! My husband enjoyed juicy and moist grilled pork accompanied by a sweet yet tangy juice. Our table was located by the front window far from the kitchen yet the service was attentive by this well trained staff. All in all this was a superb dining experience that I can highly recommend.

We love fine dining and had all the expectations for a great evening but we were disappointed. The service was attentive and the ambiance was nice, but the food missed the mark. It was close to being really good as they had innovative flavours, but the flavours didn’t quite match. Everything we ate was underwhelming. Our waiter told us that they had a new chef, so maybe that had something to do with it.

This place was really good, we started with some cocktails (the special was a Hawaiian bourbon my brother had and I ordered the fresh drink which was a vodka grapefruit medley - both very good) to start we had a dozen NJ oysters with lemon and ceviche, the goat cheeseboard (amazing) and the dry aged steak for two (huge winner). The bread was excellent too. The steak was served with broccolini and these crispy potatoes that were SUPER. The steak was aged 28 days and ordered medium rare but more on the rare side. The only thing that was a bummer was towards the end of our meal the restaurant was packed and it got really hot. So hot it was uncomfortable and we decided not to stay for dessert. Overall it was really good though and i will definitely be back - maybe when it’s not 100 degrees outside.

Fabulous brunch! Interesting drinks followed by perfect, well seasoned food. Everything was just out of the ordinary enough to make it real special and not the usual fare.

When I was reading the menu that offered oysters on a half shell and shrimp carpacio I never expected the different flavors my mouth was about to recieve. I can't even begin to explain it to you, but I will try. The shrimp carpacio had a delicate smokey flavor mixed with sweet etc. and was delicious and beautiful to look at. The oysters had a tiny piece of riped green strawberry that was so unexpected to be on an oyster but I loved the combination. My fish dish was tasty and I enjoyed it. My husband thought his pork and spetzel dish was to salty but he thinks that I over salt so it just might be him. We did not have dessert.

We have visited Fork on several occasions. The food is always outstanding. You cannot go wrong with the tasting menu. For $78 you will have one of the finest meals in the city. Servers are well informed and attentive. It is a great go to for a special occasion

Went to this place with the family for a nice evening dinner. Went to this place with the family for a nice evening dinner. This would almost get the highest rating, because the food was really quite delicious. Every aspect of what was served was wonderful. My only complaint is that the service was lacking. If the waiter was at the table and you ask for something, he politely said sure, but rarely did they remember to come back and bring the drink or the ice water or an extra fork etc. If they stepped up their service game this place would be off the charts. And for the price that they charge, their service should be much better. Hopefully they'll take this to heart and improve!

Trendy, a place to see and be seen as well as dine on excellent food. My partner and I had a really great experience from beginning to end. It was one of those moments when everything just goes right. Though crowded when we arrived, the hostess found two seats at the bar, accommodated us in our choice of seating and maintained a smiling and fun demeanor throughout her interactions with us. Our waitstaff were just as engaging, knowledgeable of the menu and provided wonderful service, In order to sample the menu, we chose the prix fix menu. This gave us both the opportunity to sample the many choices on the menu. I chose to start with the sausage stuffed quail. It was grilled to perfection and tender. My partners celery apple soup was delightful. The squid ink rigatoni that I had as my second course was lovely with it's hint of the sea flavors while my partners free-form lasagna was a wonderful take on the traditional, more like a crepe rather than a pasta. My partner and I shared the dry aged steak for two. It was grilled and seasoned to a melt in your mouth standard and frankly was so large that we were unable to finish it. The portions of the courses were large so that to eat all of our dessert was an impossibility. The Chocolate Hazelnut torte was heavenly in it's richness. I would return in a heartbeat, but reservations are dear and definitely required, though I did see others dining at the bar.

Great bloody Mary’s. Excellent service. Very nice atmosphere. I went for brunch and it was really good. Recommended!

Beautiful evening and very nice atmosphere. Selection limited. Had the Summer squash and nice glass of wine. Was a very good meal. Wife had the monk fish and was tasty and a nice meal also. Would go back.

We had brunch on Sunday at the bar. The service and food was top notch. The bar tender, he did a great job we will definitely go back again.

Our arrival dinner with our adult children was enjoyable. The menu was varied and affords unique choices. The wine list and entree choices were priced high, but comparable to other major urban centers. The dessert choice was delectable.

While visiting from NY we decided to have dinner at Fork and we are so glad we did. The suggested tasting menu dinner was simply outstanding and we really enjoyed all the dishes we were served. The smoked shrimp carpaccio was out of this world as the gnocchi with lamb ragu. The turbot was quite delicate and full of flavor. All in all a great dining experience definitely worth repeating.

I had eaten here in the past but it must have been several years ago since the menu has changed dramatically. Frankly, it was just too weird, too many foods that I am not interested in eating and too many odd combinations. Whatever happened to offering at least one simple dish like a piece of grilled salmon? Nothing was simple on this menu. I walked out and they won't see me again.

We had reservations at 5:00 on a Tuesday and had the BEST experience! Service was great, the food was even better, and everyone was very friendly! We did the tasting menu, and both ordered different items so we could try it all. By far my favorite dish was the Poached Skuna Bay Salmon. I love salmon, and THIS was truly the best salmon I have ever had. It was not only cooked perfectly, but whatever was on top made it really shine without taking away from the fish. And the smoked beets side that accompanied it was outstanding! For dessert I am so glad I took the server's recommendation of the Berries 'n Cream. WOW!! What a light, refreshing, and delectable dessert. I wish I had taken 1 to go :) I cannot wait to go back!

cozy atmosphere, although we arrived late, the service was first class with great cordiality The dishes surprised me for the better, everything was delicious.

The food was excellent and our server very helpful in recommending what we should have. We went for the House Menu (a 4-course meal). Everything was delicious!

I had such a nice evening sitting outside at Fork a couple weeks ago! The service was lovely and the food was an amazing mix of delicious choices! The manager was also really kind! I loved this fun street & this place is a great find! Many thanks to Jymer, Edwardo & Edward! You all created the perfect atmosphere & food for a perfect evening!

Nice ambiance with pleasant lighting and reasonable noise level. We seemed to have a server that was not dressed as other servers and we initially thought he was a busboy. The service was okay but not as professional as I would hope for at this type of place. The wine list is unusual but well priced and the Somm was fabulous. He helped us pick some nice wines to pair with our meals and was one of the highlights of our meal. We had oysters and two of them tasted sour but fortunately we did not get ill! They did not come with any little forks or lemon which was odd. The risotto was perfect. The grilled scallops and artic char were both excellent. The pacing of the meal was just a little slow for us. I would have given it 5 stars but the service was somewhat lacking.

The open kitchen has about a dozen cooks, the room has about 20 staff, the noise level is high, the tables are too close to each other but the food, oh the food! The new chef has brought an extraordinary sense of taste and inventiveness to the food. You can easily share eight appetizers for the table and have a most extraordinary tasting menu, from the bread and fluke to the burrata, the tempura mushrooms to the pork belly, the duck and the carrots and on and on. They have a wonderful Portuguese prosecco and a marvelous wine list. The combination of flavors from sprout cilantro to tiny pieces of pear and fennel to superb dressings, lightly applied, the whole dining experience is one of sheer delight. We have been there three times in one month. We will return often.

Fork is a hidden treasure on Market St., 3 blocks from Penns Landing. Dinner was wonderful. We started with the grilled fairytale eggplant which was a beautiful display of flavor and textures. Poached salmon and sea bass were perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was soft and conducive to conversation. A large party in a private room did not interfere with quality of food or excellent service. Freshly baked bread, wonderful wines and creative desserts complemented the meal. Service was professional and the food was creative and delicious.

My wife and I brought a friend from California here for dinner after we toured some of the historic sites downtown. Fork is a convenient place for dinner after touring, a short walk from Independence Hall. Since we were early for our reservation (reservations are a must on a Saturday for dinner), we started out with drinks at the bar. Between three of us, we had four cocktails--The Concierge, a glass of Raventos Sauvignon Blanc, Date Night, and Faux Fur. Once we were at our cozy table, my friend and I ordered the monkfish; my wife went with the scallops. We shared a Bibb Salad and a bottle of Morin Sancerre. For dessert, we started to share the Japanese cheesecake, but we didn't like it. When we told our server (Richard T.), he immediately let us choose something else. We chose the Lemongrass Custard, which was delicious. Thank you, Richard T. for making our dining experience so memorable.

The food was amazing. I had the steak for two, which was more for three. The deserts were fantastic, the salad was great. I also had the the spinach rotini pasta, looked fabulous and tasted even better! The dessert was the peach with ice cream.... I think it didn’t matter what you chose to eat, everyone’s choice looked fantastic and everyone raved about their dinner.

I hate to give a bad review to a Philly restaurant - but this highly rated restaurant and charging premium prices, and yet was immensely disappointing for the best part of $800 spent. It’s possible our server either resigned or was fired during our meal - she disappeared somewhere around main course. So it takes over 2 hours between sitting down at table and the main course being served. Seats at table are overcrowded from people standing at the bar behind us. Wine is not continually poured by server despite a large table. Main course arrived cold and inedible. Whole pork chop is returned with only two bites, and nobody is curious enough to require whether anything was wrong! I want to find something nice to say, so I’ll say the ambience was nice and the bar staff were decent. But I’ll take this type of spending to other restaurants in the city.

would have given way more stars if this was just based on our server. Our server was wonderful. ( sorry that I can’t remember her name) we were a party of 8 and she was amazing. The food was delivered and we didn’t have any thing to eat with for 17 mins so when we received our plastic ware the grits were cold the professionalism was not in this place at all. No way in the world would I let my staff 6 deep sit at a table less than 10 feet from customers with delivery food Pizza Hut Chinese Dunkin’ and more what does that say about the place you work. I think the worst part was I had chicken that looked extra hard and the staff had chicken from Chinese restaurant that looked amazing Please work on being more professional so I can give more stars. I will try again maybe today was just a bad day

Eight friends celebrating a birthday and a good time was had by all. We dined in one of Fork's private rooms which I highly recommend reserving if you have a large group. The main dining room, while full of atmosphere and energy, is a bit too loud for conversing. The service we received was excellent!! Our server, I believe her name was Christina, was very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. Our group, which have varying tastes, took full advantage of her knowledge of the menu all arriving at rewarding selections. Between us our group tried just about everything on the menu. Food ranged from very good to excellent -- although in some cases the portion sizes were a bit on the stingy side. Fork's wine menu, while not exhaustive, is varied enough to please and we were able to find ones that pair nicely with each course. Meal pacing was about perfect over the 3.5 hours we spent at Fork.

Great delicious food in a nice atmosphere right in the middle of old town in Philly. Everything was amazing , I had the shrimp carpaccio, black ink rigatoni and fish fillet . The service is great as well

There is nothing I can write here that would do justice to how incredible the food is here. It is the type of place where anything you order will be the best iteration of the dish you’ve ever had. I would recommend the house menu where you get three courses and dessert. As far as food recommendations, I went with the gnocchi with duck ragù, sweetbreads with grapefruit and date jam and the pork loin and belly. All otherworldly. The only reason I am not giving full 5 stars is because I went for brunch once (almost always a mistake) and it was terrible. Dinner is a whole other, cutting edge, fine dining experience.

Very fancy food. I was expecting so much more but the food was at best average. The bright light was the service and the pasta!

My wife and I celebrated our 29th anniversary at Fork and we had a wonderful experience. It started with the custom menu which said Happy Anniversary. As we were perusing over the menu, the waiter brought us two glasses of bubbly. The food was excellent and the service extremely attentive. I started with the whipped rabbit which is a must if you love rabbit. My wife had a very tasty salad. I had the squid ink rigatoni which were out of this world and my wife had the fish special which was really good. At the end of the meal, they brought us a mini dessert to conclude the celebration. The restaurant experience was wonderful and was worth every penny. I cannot recommend Fork high enough for a special occasion.

In a town famous for its cheesesteak sandwiches, it’s worth doing a bit of exploring for something special and unique. We found Fork along a nondescript section of the street. A happy group was dining outside while a couple of serious business partners negotiated at the other side. The bar was empty but the maitre’d was kind and welcoming. Fork is classy and trendy with big flowers and interesting art. A basket of homemade bread greets diners as they enter. It is open and airy with a French flair. They have a nice selection of good wines. A bubbly rose was the refreshing answer to a warm, humid day. We ordered their house salad and a burger. It seemed like a good, quick lunch. The salad was beautiful with fresh berries and shaved rhubarb. Clearly the team was interested in creating a lovely experience. The burger came with a double stack, a nice selection of well balanced beef topped with curly bacon. Our quick lunch turned into a relaxing afternoon of more wine and good conversation. Next time we are in Philly, we will be back to Fork to try their other creative offerings.

Lovely restaurant. Seriously, this place is gorgeous with food to match. We had a very nice spring salad with a date purée and blue cheese then the potato gnocchi with a lamb Ragu. My only compliant is that I would have liked to see a California Chardonnay offered by the glass. Great service. Very attentive.

The outside of the building is very attractive and inviting. Beautiful interior and fabulous ambience. A somewhat limited menu offers upscale dining choices. At the server's suggestion, I chose the Duroc Pork which was accompanied by summer squash, fingerling potatoes and a fried squash blossom. After ordering, an amuse-bouche was brought to my table. A very simple small turnip with green goddess dressing and smoked salmon and crème fraiche atop a cucumber slice, topped with dill and caviar intrigued my palate. The bread was very crusty (almost burned), and was served with fresh softened butter topped with Maldon sea salt flakes. The sweet iced tea there was NOT like fresh brewed sweet tea in the south! I had to ask for a Coke instead of the tea. My entrée was delicious! The pork was served three ways, a slice of smoked tenderloin, fried belly and a rib. The squash and potatoes were OK, but not fantastic. However, the fried squash blossom was the best thing I ate the entire time I was in Philly! I ordered dessert and French Press coffee. My dessert was the Espresso Cake with a Chocolate Sesame Ganache (very interesting flavor combination) and Coffee Ice Cream. Hands down, great food top to bottom. But skip the iced tea!

Dinner with friends in a private back room. Absolutely excellent service. Very interesting menu. Good drinks.

MThe service from our waitress Aiden (name from check) was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the food and the drink menus. I 'would have' given her an outstanding tip based on her performance. The only issue was when we provided her feedback on the food which she conveyed to the management/chef and we never heard from either of them. The food. We ordered the Burger and the Pork Tenderloin. The fries accompanying the burger were completely over seasoned. This was conveyed to the server after the meal. The Pork Tenderloin too was completely over seasoned. It was hard telling what type of meat was being eaten. This was not conveyed to the server (as I would normally just not order this dish again in the future). Accompanying potatoes and greens were a delight. The bill. This is where the BIG problem exists which lead me to write this review. •Philly sales tax on food and alcohol is higher than the state norm of 6%. 8% on Food and Service, 10% on alcohol. This was unfortunate to discover after the meal, but we take full responsibility for not knowing. I would have made different choices because of this. My bad. •The Service Charge. This was delicately hidden/deemphasized on the menu, both in print and online. Our waitress told us when she brought the check that this was her 'tip'. In our opinion this is an extremely poor way of doing business. Why is that? Because you get taxed by Pennsylvania and Philly on this service charge. The equivalent of being taxed on your tip in a normal restaurant. I would prefer to have a mandatory 20% minimum tip added to the bill instead of a service charge which is taxed. Overall the meal was totaled up to being just slightly below average. We might have even gone back again to try something different another evening chalking this up to bad food choices. However, with the Service Charge method of paying/tipping it's employees we've decided that we will NOT be going back. If I had to break down the generous 2 star rating we gave: Aiden's Service - 5 stars Food - 3 stars Business Billing Practices - 0 stars #KnowBeforeYouGo #ServiceCharge

The host and hostess were very friendly and welcoming. The server was good. The place is beautiful and probably even more beautiful at night. We had brunch and were disappointed that the menu descriptions did not match what we received. Please make sure to ask the server if the descriptions on the menu match, because you don't want to be paying a lot for rhubarb (personally, yuck) when it said "pear".

My son recommended Fork for brunch on 12/23/2017 because of his own previous excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is immediately welcoming, relaxed, and very comfortable - its like dining in a close friend's cool apartment. Service here is excellent and I enjoyed the presentation of certain dishes on natural stone platters. We started off with a great beer and a glass of wine which were kindly recommended. Our brunch of duck cubanos, primal supply sausage, and old bay potatoes was very satisfying and filling. Coffee was a very pleasant finish for perfectly relaxing meal.

We started with glasses of Prosecco at the bar since they weren't quite ready to seat us when we arrived at 5:15 pm, on time for our Saturday reservation, even though they opened at 5 pm and the restaurant was just about empty. Once seated, we found the room to be a pleasant enough ambiance to start, though noise levels skyrocketed and conversation became a challenge as the restaurant filled up. Also, at times during the evening, the volume of the piped music would suddenly increase noticeably and annoyingly, only to return to the right level a minute or 2 later. We ordered from the 4-course prix fixe tasting menu and would rate the food and service as better than average. There were also several amuse bouche surprises that were actually quite special. One desert though was an utter failure, a "pain perdu" concoction that was tasteless, granular and dried out. The management did attempt to make up for this catastrophe with additional glasses of complementary wine (from New Mexico) at the end of our meal. Staff were friendly and competent. There is an open kitchen and activity there was obviously well-managed, efficient and enjoyable to observe. The overall experience was good but fell short of 'must return soon.' Noise control baffling might add a lot to the Fork experience.

Everything was perfect. Food, staff, ambiance. Has a vibe. We did the $78 tasting menu and found the portions enough to enjoy but small enough to eat the full meal. Attentive but not intrusive service. Exceptional food. We recently dined at the 2 star Michelin Inn at Little Washington -- and while the latter was a very different experience, the food at Fork was as good.

Food was slow to arrive. The wait was worth it; NY strip steak was excellent! Enchanting, low-light atmosphere. Definitely good location for 'date night'. On street parking 1st come basis. Recommend parking garage nearby at the Bourse.

Very nice place on Market Street in the Historic District. Classy, but understated decor. Welcoming staff. Some imaginative dishes, like swordfish with sorghum and hibiscus, well-executed. Everything done well.

We are frequent, but from out-of-town, diners in Philadelphia. One type of restaurant we had yet to visit was one of the many new-American places. We remedied that this week with a fine meal at Fork. My wife and I both had the $79, four-course menu. This is not a fixed tasting menu but rather you pick three courses and a dessert from the menu. Wine parings are available to accompany the three savoury dishes. My courses were omnivorous whereas my wife chose vegetarian. I started the black bass crudo which was beautifully setoff with trout roe. My wife had the parsnip soup which was velvety and excellent. Both of our pastas were standouts. My gnocchi with a lamb ragu were truly pillowy and collapsed in my mouth. The finely ground lamb was almost an incidental accent to a subtle, buttery sauce. Her chestnut fettuccine was like pasta that had been grown from the earth. That is only way I can describe the essence of that dish. My monkfish was lightly smoked and served in a broccoli broth. The meat was tender and flavorful. Her Sicilian cauliflower steak was vegetarian at its best. It is a sous vide cooked thick slice of the heart of the cauliflower that is then seared hot on the flat top. This we will try at home, it is that good. For dessert, I chose the cheese board. Three small slices of soft, hard and blue cheeses served with flat bread. Great with the white port. My wife had the lemon sorbet with dried sesame foam that was both creative and quite delicious. The service was attentive but discreet and the wine pairings were interesting and thoughtful.

Went to a early evening dinner (6:00) for three, two males and one female; two of whom also ordered drinks. Each had their own selection which was serve timely and perfect to order. I was hoping for the sampler meu which I had before but it was not available any more. I would have preferred a few more selection and was satisfied with the current selection. The waiter was cordial responsive to our requests.

This restaurant does not disappoint. I really can’t say enough good things about our meal and drinks here. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations on our choices. If I had to pick only one restaurant to visit in Philadelphia THIS WOULD BE IT!!!

The quail app was delicate and mild. The winter salad was attended w/ robust flavor. the venison carpaccio arrived visually artistic and delivered surprising & delicious flavor. Get the venison! The lasagna was light and provided a different flavor than expected. Yup, I'd get it again. Potato gnocchi also worthy of a second time. Of the pork, the turbot and the smoked monk fish, the monk fish was the hit. The turbot was bland and tasteless. The pork was pretty nice, for a heavy meat dish. Don't pass up dessert, coffee and cocktails. YUM!!!

My husband and I dined at Fork on a recent visit to Philly and were highly pleased with all aspects of our meal. The decor is gorgeous, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We had a comfortable table on a banquette with a view of the room and the open kitchen. The team was delightful with professional and congenial service. The food was excellent! We wanted to try a variety of dishes so we ordered the house menu. We enjoyed everything though the pastas were the standouts. For the main course we shared the dry aged steak for 2 and it was tender and flavorful. I generally skip dessert but had a few bites of the scrumptious apple walnut tart and chocolate date cake. I also had the wine pairing and the selections complemented the food very well. This is a meal that we'd be very happy to repeat the next time we're in town.

Found this place by accident. Great atmosphere. The food and service were top notch. Highly recommend the melon salad and risotto. Cocktails were all tremendous.

The dishes at Fork were delicious, no doubt, but the portions are tiny. I started worrying a bit after the tiny piece of Striped bass, which was my main course. I took the local cheese for desert, again rather small for $22. The total came to $160 per person, which would be OK for a great meal, but only if do not feel like needing to eat again a bit later.

This is the place to go for delicious fresh gluten free meals using seasonal ingredients. Owner Ellen Yin ensures that your vegetarian, gluten free choices are delicious and healthy. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely bistro

This restaurant has a fun vibe, interesting decor and delicious food. The desserts in particular were amazing! Interesting cocktails as well made it a good place for a celebratory dinner on a gloomy winter evening.

We were immediately attracted by this restaurant while searching for a place to eat and found this amazing restaurant! The interiors are modern, elegant and personalized, great attention is paid to the esthetic of the plates and of course everything tasted delicious! We started with mussels, then halibut, a fantastic chicken with caponata and aubergine, apricots, carrots and yellow tomatoes and to finish-what a joy-the "Java bomb", a dessert made of chocolate with apricots and mint ice-cream.

We were drawn here by others reviews. We ate on a Monday evening and the place was full. The service is attentive, knowledgable and friendly. We shared a starter of shrimp carpaccio, and then had the cod and bouillabaisse respectfully, followed by a shared dessert of cheesecake pan a cota, all of which was excellent. We also had an excellent bottle of grillo to accompany our food. Well worth looking out if you are in the area.

This is the second March i have visited Fork. It was so good last year, i had to go back with a different group. Its beautiful, well prepared original food, and waitstaff helpful and attentive.

Was alone on business trip and got a seat at the bar - very nice winelist, nice menu as well. Only ordered a maincourse as I was late - there were some issues in timing, so they offered me some oysters to kill the time. Oef - that was nice. Atmosphere was very casual, nice bartender - food was of excellent quality, as was the wine. Price is on the high end, but maybe that's just my perception.

I had excellent fluke crudo, a nice pork chop, and very tasty coconut custard topped with a soft meringue. Very helpful staff.

We went for a Brunch and had the Smoked Bagette...delicious..and Salmon Benedit...also the Cobb salad....a bit pricy but worth it! Very fresh and local..great service...

Food may be great at Fork, but they treat customers Like dirt! I made a reservation last Saturday on Open Table for a Sunday night dinner for 3. Two hours later I had to call to cancel. They never mentioned when I called that there was a charge for canceling, and they ended up billing me $38.94 through Open Table, to my credit card! When I found out and called the woman told me, “that’s our policy.” Great way to treat potential customers, Fork. I will NEVER eat at Fork in Philadelphia.

Fork is a real gem of a restaurant. The room is beautiful, the service is professional yet warm and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. The menu is inventive without being weird and the food, prepared in an open kitchen that is obviously well-run, is prepared with care. We chose the tasting menu, each of us opting for different dishes. My husband is gluten free and the kitchen was extremely helpful, providing gluten free bread and pasta. Portions were perfect for a multi-course meal and wine pairings recommended by our server were spot on. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was recommended by our friends and did not disappoint. A delightful ambience with a select menu but with everything prepared to perfection. Service was also excellent. Great place for couples or foursomes to spend an evening. Reservations are recommended. Bon appetit!

I started with a scallop dish and proceeded to a cauliflower "steal." The scallops were divine, cool and fresh, with interesting seasoning, I ordered the cauliflower because I love it as a vegetable and wanted to try it out for a main course which seems to be all the rage. Again the seasoning was impressive. It was roasted (or broiled, I could not tell), dressed with chopped nuts and perhaps other crispy things. Delicious. Would I have it again? Maybe. As a vegetable side dish, in a smaller portion, definitely. The white wine we had (a Gruner Veltliner) was suggested by the sommelier and was an excellent choice. Really enjoyable and stood up to the assertive cauliflower flavor. This is a buzzing restaurant but not noisy. It attracts mostly young clients who like to eat well. The staff was very agreeable. I will return definitely

Nice atmosphere, excellent food. We ate an early dinner at 5 pm and had no problem being seated. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the amuse bouche, and our meals were excellent and beautifully presented. Worth the price!

We went here one night, just looking for a place to eat close to where we were staying. It had good reviews, and we were in the mood for a good meal, so we went here. It was OK, but not good enough for a return trip if we were in the area. I started off with a drink - some kind of rum drink which was very good and I do recommend. I had a couple of these.. Some of the food was very good. I really liked the gnocchi, and the steak for two was good. Some of the food, in particular the dessert, wasn't that great. I had the polenta cake and corn ice cream. It sounded good but wasn't. Service was good enough. The hostesses were the friendliest people in the restaurant. Overall, if we're looking for fine dining, we will try somewhere else next time.

Read great reviews online about this place and I was not disappointed. The staff recommended a new appetizer they had watermelon with cucumber and it was awesome. Never had anything like it before. I had the grilled octopus and it was good too. The cake was tasty. The only thing I think they could have improved was the coffee I had with my cake. It did not hit the spot. Oh well I guess can’t win them all. Would definitely return to this place though. Kinda pricey but totally worth it.

We had fish and cous cous and it was very good. Our server was wonderful as well. We would absolutely visit the fork again!

Service was very slow. Food OK. Portions were minute. The 4lb Duck was more like 4 OZ. Very pretentious and overated.

On the way to the drug store we came upon Fort and decided to have dinner there. It was certainly a delightful experience. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The description of the menu items made each dish appetizing. We selected the Turbo and Spring Green Chicken, both were delicious.I especially liked the smoked oats topping on the chicken. We shared the chocolate tart for desert. We will certainly return to Fork on our return to Philadelphia.

For us, my partner and I, a must in Philadelphia. Cozy, subdued restaurant, very pleasant setting. On the main artery, Market Street, a stone's throw from the metro, 2nd Street station on the blue line. Refined menu without being snobbish. We had marinated raw plaice slices then a casserole of scallops and octopus and to conclude a chocolate/hazelnut Bavarian. Wonderful evening !!

Really beautiful presentation. Halibut was deliciously arranged on corn with the sweetness of tomatoes...just delicious. Chicken was also a beautiful presentation. Risotto with shrimp worth sharing for an appetizer. Other salads were delicious and can also be shared. Nice bar to eat at, also. Owner, Ellen, present and watches over everything. They were tuning a bit late due to the rainy weather and she was very concerned about our comfort. She sent us some extra salads and an appetizer since we had waited for our reservation and were hungry. Very nice of her. Try this restaurant.

Pleasant and efficient service, well-cooked home-cooked meals, varied menu, noisy at dinner. The decor is pleasant Prices a little high

This stands out as the BESTdining experience I have ever had in my 73 years. I wish I lived in Philly so I could visit often. Every course was lovely, both in presentation, taste and texture. The amuse bouche was yummy. I had the lamb tartare, gnocchi, duroc pork (to die for) and peach sesame. Excellent from start to finish. The service was outstanding. We were treated royally.

My food was delicious! I was alone checking out the local food and waiting to meet family. The server recommended two amazing dishes. The whitefish sandwich was outstanding. It was special with its attention to freshness and ingredients. I also had the miche with baba ganuche, local chèvre cheese and shatta…simply amazing food. The bread was fresh and toasted to perfection. They didn’t mind packaging my leftovers. I’m currently trying to replicate both recipes at home. I sat outside and loved the vibe. Highly recommend!

Spent the last week enjoying the great Philadelphia restaurants...Vedge;Vernick;Zahav.... this restaurant is not on a par with that group. Food sounded a lot better on the menu than what we received and the service was very amateurish. Definitely will not be on our list on our next visit.

I had one of the best meals in my life in this great restaurant. A sign on the wall in the kitchen simply states "SENSE OF EMERGENCY". This deals with the service where the patron is treated in a highly professional, efficient and caring manner. Kudos to the staff. The food is excellent. I had the Sweet Amalia Oysters with pickled rhubarb, mignonette to start followed by hand made POTATO GNOCCHI with lamb ragu, green beans, and sun chokes. The main course consisted of POACHED SKUNA BAY SALMON with beets, horseradish and watercress. I am unable to rank these delights because all were tops and unique. Give this restaurant a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Just got back from Christmas Eve dinner here. They were doing the seven dishes dinner instead of the regular. We didn't realize this until we arrived, and one member of our party doesn't like fish. The staff were very accommodating and made a special meal for him, while the other two of us did the seven dishes. Everything was delicious!

A great place to hang out with friends. On Wednesday nights, there is a price fixed menu that leaves you satisfied with the culinary delights. For my experience, I had black bass sushi that was not chewy but succulent in taste. I then tasted a rigatoni dish that I could have as a main dish. Next up was a tasty piece of Artic char fish. For desert, I had chocolate custard. Some of my friends had deconstructive carrot cake. I highly recommend this place. If you are a hamburger and wings person, this place is not for you. If you are for new experiences, give this place a chance.

They have small and large plate options and I had the small rigatoni. One of my dinner companions had the large version but they brought a small. When she asked them about it they argued with her and eventually brought another one, which was clearly a regular portion, but not once did anyone apologize for their poor behavior. It was a very disappointing experience from what would otherwise have been a good meal.

We went to Fork after my daughter in law graduated from UPenn. The service was excellent. The food was very good. I had their chicken and it was delicious. My son had the pork and daughter in law fish, and they enjoyed their meal. Their portions are on the smaller side~so be sure to choose something from each category on the menu. I give Fork a 4 star rating for excellent service, portions per value, and food that was "Very Good."

We were seated at a nice table in the back part of the restaurant. Would we have preferred a better table with a better view for both parties? Yes. Our server was excellent and appropriately attentive. The cocktail list is inventive and my wife asked for and received a custom-made cocktail from the mixologist. The lamb tartare was excellent and inventive. The homemade tomato pasta dish was outstanding. The swordfish was not a home run. Polenta cake was also very good. We would return to this restaurant.

For the above reasons this is a good choice. However, the menu options are so limited that we will not return. There was no indication that the menu changed seasonally but perhaps it does. Fork certainly deserves at least one visit.

I recently dined here for the first time and we were a party of 4. You can order ala carte off the menu however waitstaff recommends if one person does the chef's menu then everyone should participate so we decide to do it. The menu is online but it changes. The menu currently runs 78 per person and then if you get the meat option as your entree the price can go up. We all chose the steak which brought it up to 110 per person but the food really was amazing. I chose oysters, the rigatoni, the steak special, and the apricot cake for desert. Everything was delicious and fresh. Wait staff is extremely attentive and they clear every plate, bring you new silverware after each course, water glass is always filled and they are on top of cocktails/wine as well. It's pricey for sure but if you are looking for something different or looking to celebrate I would highly recommend. The food quality is there, and the service is there- what else can you ask for? I would recommend making reservations as well.

We decided to have dinner at the bar, the bartender gave us an excellent service. The oysters were exquisite, and so the rabbit mousse. We were disappointed for the 'lasagna', that actually is a layer (or two?) of handmade pasta with a heavy tasting cheese. We understand the concept of fusion/new-American cuisine, but the term 'lasagna' needs something more than cheese and pasta. Overall a great experience.

So, you're a tourist? Ok, cool - book a reservation. You're welcome. Are you a local? Even better - make this place your home. Happy hour (lasts until 7PM). Try the drink labeled Boozy and order the smoked mussels which is a cold hors d'oeuvres over paprika aioli on toast. Dinner. Reserve a table or sit at the bar and experience superb service and delicious food that is presented in a way that's almost too pretty to eat. Almost....but dive in straight away. And, order one of the pasta dishes for the table in-between your starter course and entree. Don't fight me. Just do it. It's irresponsible to not select Fork for every night out. It's this local's favorite. Special mention - Ross (amazing bartender). Victoria (welcoming manager and wonderful table visits).

A charming environment with delicious food beautifully served. The ambience is delightful and service good. I did find the menu a bit limited and a bit pricey but would definitely return. Everything was delicious.

My boyfriend and I went to this very appealing restaurant for brunch today with our nephew, who is a surgical resident here. We are from New York. It is a very attractive, chic, and comfortable restaurant. The brunch foods offered are well thought out and delicious. Our nephew had poached eggs with creamy polenta and peas, my boyfriend had a vegetable omelette with cheese, and I had a scrumptious cheeseburger on a delicious roll with the best fries ever. Calling them french fries do not do them any justice. My boyfriend and I shared an order of the yummy creamy polenta and we all shared a scoop of really excellent corn gelato for dessert. Very unique and worth the calories! And a special shout out to our waiter Gary, who is very charming, professional, classy, caring, friendly, and accommodating. We highly recommend this restaurant for brunch, lunch, or dinner when in Philadelphia.

I was disappointed with my most recent visit to Fork. The front and back halves of the restaurant were clearly out of sync. First, Gin is having a moment in Philly. At Fork you have two choices - Beefeater and Bluecoat. Better get your martini elsewhere. While the food was flavorful, the timing of the service was off. First, we noticed bread plates on the table, but had to ask for bread after completing the first course. The server then cleared the table and brought fresh silverware and bread plates. Again, no bread was offered with the second or third courses. Finally, we asked about it with our entrees. Who brings bread plates and then doesn't serve bread? The first two courses were incredibly rushed to the point the service could not keep up with the kitchen. As an example, we asked that our courses be paired with wine. The second pairing showed up as we were finishing our second course - so we sent it back. We commented that if the entrees showed up before the wine, we would send them back. While the food is good, the service lacks an attention to detail.

We chose the price fix menu which allowed us to select from the full dinner menu. And to our delight the chef also tossed in a few surprises!! The asparagus gazpacho was pure freshness and a delight! The pork dish was developed using 3 different cuts of meat! Genius! Each plate was beautiful. And we cannot compliment the waitstaff enough. This is creative eating, not a loaded, heavy meal affair. The price reflects quality and care. We plan to return.

Perfect dining experience. Unlike most eateries in town, it does provide exquisite dishes that are portion perfect for fine dining. We had the muscles on toast, the provincial salad and duck for starters. As for the main dishes, Black Sea Bass and Halibut. For desert strawberry cheesecake and an awesome chocolate something. Absolutely amazing, I'm glad we managed to squeeze this restaurant in.

Fork is a gem. It has a varied and unusual menu which is delightfully executed. The chef is marvelous. It is a treat

We chose this restaurant for our only dinner in Philadelphia on our honeymoon from Australia The food was stunning. Very fresh and well portioned. We’re accustomed to fine dining and this was right up there with the best. Ambience of the restaurant itself was beautiful. Very warm and the cloakroom was welcome on a cold night. Sadly the service was a mixed bag. From the females it was friendly and focussed. Unfortunately from the men it was less so for some reason. The attitude was quite patronising. We want to say sorry to our (male) server whom we clearly disappointed by not ordering the set 4 course menu. As we explained, we’re not accustomed to large meals and didn’t think we’d do it justice. Could only give this restaurant a 7/10 for this reason as the attitude somewhat spoiled the experience.

The place has a great atmosphere and service is awesome and attentive but it’s too noise and jam-packed, I could not hear my fiancée sitting in front of me but I don’t miss a word of the couple sitting next to me. Food is good but not great, the desserts on the contrary were banging! Totally awesome if you’re gonna eat here make you save room for a sweet treat

My wife and I dined mid-week before a Walnut Street Theater performance (now that's a 5 star review!) The restaurant is pretty but the food is uneventful, flavorless. I ordered the squid ink rigatoni which was to have Crabmeat, lions head mushrooms.... none of which made it to my plate. The overlooked bowl of sticky pasta was horrific! My wife ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was subpar and just barely warm. She ordered a Tito martini which was a small pour. I asked for a house Chardonnay and was charged $15! I politely asked our waitress why the $15 charge for a "house" Chardonnay.... was told I did not specify and that was the bottle they had open to serve!!! You have been warned from an honest reviewer.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Fork in Philadelphia. The atmosphere is great and has a classic vibe. The food was wonderful and the service was equally good. Every person that we interacted with treated us well from the front door to the servers to the waiter. Absolutely no complaints. The food was delicious! It is expensive but that is to be expected when you are doing fine dining in the city. Would definitely go back for a special occasion!

Dinner with friends at Fork; not a budget restaurant but the service was superb and food even better. Pork as main would be by advice. Would certainly recommend and return if I have the chance,

Top of the line service. Fantastic presentation. Amazing decor. Delightful cocktails and wine selections. If you can afford it, get the chef's four course meal. It comes with delightful surprises. Interesting flavors. Get the potato gnocchi. Monkfish and scallops were cooked to perfection. Please note, however, that the only steak option is a serving for 2. If you want steak, bring with you a meat lover. The only reason it didn't get a five star rating was the lack of vegetarian and vegan options.

3 people - apps and entrees, bottle of wine. Wine 150; 2 martinis 40. Food alone was 300. 28 oz bone-in strip steak (large porterhouse bone!) for two was $160. It was passable, but not good, let alone great. I realize now this is hte second "steak for two" I've ordered. I would never have ordered a steak at 80. FOR TWO is designed to hide the price. The soup was good. The martinis were singles, served in 3 oz wind glasses, not full. I have spent $500 on a meal before, but wil nto go back here ever. Jansen on Germantown Rd is much better. ALSO: They automatically added a 20% tip, which they did point out. Never seen this for a party of 3. Could have been removed. I woudl have tipped 25% as we minimally do.

I have been here several times over the years, but not for a year or so>Went with some colleagues, and have a very good experience. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. The sommelier provide good suggestions and the food was very good.I will be back much sooner now!

My wife and I had dinner here one Saturday night. We were seated promptly at an outside table. The menu is very creative and varies according to the season. I had a cauliflower steak entree which was outstanding. It consisted of cauliflower seasoned with thyme, crushed garlic, olive oil served with a puree of almond macron. As stated previously stated a very creative menu selection accompanied by good service

The bucatini was average at best, not a lot of flavor. The fettuccini was over-cooked to the point that it was like glue and sticking together. It lacked any flavor, not to mention crab and asparagus. The pork dish was pork served three ways and was fatty and lackluster. We were 15 minutes early for our reservation and there were several available tables, however, we were asked to have a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. After having our drinks we were seated at one of the tables that was open when we arrived. We told the waiter that we were going to the Arden Theater(one of their partners) and he said we had plenty of time(1 hour 45 mins). After our entrees we had to seek out our waiter as we had to leave asap, so no time for dessert. Not sure any of us wanted another disappointing course anyway.

Fork review: With outstanding food and service from A-Z, Ellen Yin continues to excel at the helm of this beautiful restaurant! The menu is diverse and updated with their new chef, and it is wonderful. We enjoyed so many wonderful apps, and our entrees were perfectly cooked. Standout app items included the delicate winter squash soup, the mushroom tempura and the crispy butternut squash with black garlic and coriander. We also loved the cayenne carrots and the duck pasta, but don't forget the pork belly with Brussell sprouts and the fried chicken salad! And the burrata!!!! And all of that was before we had our entrees, which were all superb. Everything was done to perfection and we ate, and we ate, and we ate for hours!!! The bartender Kim was a hoot, keeping us entertained on a chilly Monday night, full of stories from the good ol'days when Philadelphia was just blossoming as a destination city for food and foodies. Our group of 6 remembered those days too, so it was so much fun to reminisce with someone who had been there-done that- back in the day. She also was a superb bartender :) Our waiter Eduardo was attentive and knowledgeable of the new menu and was great at helping us to decide what to have. We all loved our dinner, and we all left totally satiated and happy. Kudos to the team at Fork for a job well done and well-executed. We will be back soon!

Recently had an excellent meal at Fork. Was a business meeting so we were given a private room in the back. We had a meal with less than the menu of choices, yet still plenty to choose from. I had the Steak tartare, which was very nice. I then moved onto the halibut, which was outstanding. Cooked to perfection. For desert I had the cheesecake which was flavourful, and quite light. Oh, we had a bit of wine along the way too. Excellent meal, great service and a great atmosphere.

Our visit started off well. The server was attentive and we were enjoying ourselves. To be fair, the food all tasted quite good. But somewhere in the middle of the meal the server must have decided we were to demanding a table or something because he started studiously avoiding us, by the end we were all quite annoyed. Then to make matters worse two of us (the only two who ate the mussels) got sick in the middle of the night. So would I go there again, no I don't think so.

Lovely restaurant with nice staff and good atmosphere. We all enjoyed our meal though some dishes more successful than others. Carpaccio and gnocchi excellent, lemon tagliatelle less so and lacking a little flavour. The desserts were a little weird for us but fortunately right next door is the terrific Franklin fountain so we finished our evening there!

This was our 2nd time there. Came back after a year and was really disappointed... I had the rabbit appetizer (wasn't expecting a cold dish) and the pork entree (just OK). My wife who is vegetarian could only really eat the buckwheat pasta which was alright, but way overpriced for such a small dish ($28). We also tried two deserts that were fine but not great. Service and sparkling water were the only "highlight" of the dinner. $65 each that was not well spent :( In one word: overrated

I chose this restaurant because it was an easy walk from the Hilton at Penn's Landing where I always stay. I couldn't get in to a few other choices from my list, but the reviews of this restaurant read very well. From start to finish, this chef likes to have fun and be playful with food and flavors. I started with the Focaccia Bread and Carmelized Onion Jam, accompanied by the refreshing beet salad. The rhubarb shaving and the marinated beets in caraway were absolutely wonderful and playful with my taste buds, and they make a mean strawberry "mocktail"! My entree was the tilefish, which was another mouth party because of all the wonderful playfulness with texture and flavors. For dessert, I asked the server what she would have chosen and she said, "hands down, the olive oil cake is my favorite"; so it was done. As I stated, my job affords me the luxury of eating at a lot of amazing places. If you happen to be in Philly, please mark this one down as a "must try"!!

Went on Christmas Eve and had the seven fishes dinner. Our waiter seemed rushed and a little distracted at first but the service got better as the dinner progressed. We ordered white wine that was supposed to be crisp and tasted much too fruity. The waiter suggested another and substituted it for the first one. It went much better with the food. All of the courses were excellent. I had never had fried smelts before and really loved them. I was concerned about the salad with pickled sardines but these were delicious and not at all salty, oily or fishy tasting. The octopus with orecchiette pasta in a wonderful sauce was our favorite. It was braised and the most tender octopus I have ever had. The entree was branzino which is our favorite fish. Would definitely recommend for seafood lovers.

Just know everything is on point. The ambiance, servers, food and experience. If you want to have value for your experience and dollar you cannot go wrong at FORK. Let your tastebuds dance. Let yourself be pampered. Have an experience worth experiencing again and again.

This is a lovely restaurant and the lunch menu is reasonably priced . It was a very comfortable place to sit and talk over our meal.

We enjoyed the food immensely. Trendy layout and good ambience. Sadly the waiter lacked engagement. We had a good eve none the less and would recommend for a visit.

Excellent dinner with friends. The dry-aged beef burger was the best ever with tasty fries. We shared the charcuterie with pates, which was delicious. The kale salad satisfied my craving for healthy leafy greens. We dined outside on sidewalk, distracted by the traffic noise only once. It was a warm spring evening, which only added to the atmosphere of being in the city. The desserts were excellent as well. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Would definitely go again!

Sat at the bar for dinner. Brian was our bartender/server. He was amazing! I e asked him to surprise us with a drink not on the menu and didn’t disappoint! A very professional and courteous staff here. But the food was sublime! Drinks were creative and tasty! Thanks FORK! Much love from these two traveling Detroiter’s stranded in Philly! You made a bleak experience so much better!

It’s a rare treat to enjoy a meal where both vegetarians and non-vegetarians can enjoy equally - FORK fits the bill. Add a perfectly tasteful and relaxed atmosphere, an incredibly kind and hospitable staff w a good sense of humor, and a kitchen willing to work w food sensitivities- and you have a recipe for a delicious NYE. Will definitely be back. Thx for making our 12th wedding anniversary a tasty one! PS: grilled cauliflower steak is amazing!

In a city renowned for fine dining, FORK's attention to freshness and flavorful invention seems to know no bounds -- as it's commitment to elevating the dining experience with seasonal and sophisticated food make FORK a standout in a great restaurant city!

Popped in for early evening cocktails and loved the atmosphere, the menu, the cocktails and the chat with the staff. Cocktails were beautifully made and the menu looked good so we booked for Dinner 48 hours later. Arrived and shown to a solitary table in the window at the front door, we said no we’d booked for the atmosphere. A little hmph from the Maitre ‘D but were soon shown to an excellent table where we were looked after wonderfully and served truly excellent food and wine.

We arrived early (6:00), and so had time to chat with our server. The menu was varied, as was the wine list. My husband and I selected two different sparkling wines, then followed them with local conch (for him) and one of the best salads I have ever had, for me: salad was dressed lightly with blue cheese in a mayonnaise base over winter greens, with a citrus vinaigrette on the bottom: original and wonderful. Oxtail ragu over tiny pasta filled with polenta, then excellent lamb ragu, and smoked monkfish, with accompanying wines. One of the most memorable dinners I have had in many years. Highly recommended.

Dropped in without reservation and on recommendation by Wyndham front desk. Wasn’t disappointed. My wife and I ordered the house menu which included the surprise of an amuse-bouche and macaroons. Each dish was well executed and with intentionality. We could tell there was pride in the ingredients and preparation of each course. And the servers knew the dishes well and were able to answer our questions on each- both before ordering and when presenting the dish. There must have been four or more individuals that served our table throughout our dinner, from seating, water, cleaning/wiping off table after each course, bar drinks, to the courses. We went back the next night just for the amazing drinks before having dinner at another location (which, in the end, couldn’t hold a candle to Fork). Bartenders too took great pride in the ingredients they use. Honestly baffled that Fork isn’t a higher ranked restaurant in the area. I look forward to my next visit to the Philly area just to eat here again.

This place was a treat! After hearing about the James Beard nomination I knew I needed to stop in. The place is gorgeous. The birch tree in the center of the dining room is enchanting and magical with the fairy lights all around it. Our food was delicious and each dish expertly flavored. We got a handful of items for the group of us to share. The handmade pastas really stood out to me. Loved the lemon pepper fettuccine and the lamb ragu gnocchi. The gnocchi were puffy pillows and the sauce was super light in body but savory in flavor. Loved how it still let the gnocchi standout. And the fettuccine was some of the most delicate pastas. It wasn’t dense and was a perfect complement to the asparagus and sweet crab in the sauce. I could have had an entire plate to myself. The diver scallops were tender and sweet and cooked perfectly. Loved the chopped as asparagus with light onion and garlic undertones. Mmmmm. Very good food coming out of this kitchen. The only thing that came up a little bit short was the dessert. The strawberries and cream felt like a real departure from something more traditional and it didn’t feel like you really needed to deconstruct something that is seemingly already pretty deconstructed as is...it was way too fussy in my opinion and the dessert lost being something enjoyable and just felt pretentious. I would return for the pastas though, hands down!

very overpriced for really substandard food. my steak was $4 per ounce for a 30 ounce hunk of beef that was at least half bone & gristle. huge ripoff, sorry to say. the worst part was the MANDATORY 20% gratuity on top of the outrageous price. please america don't accept mandatory gratuity- this is an oxymoron. what's next, telling us the food is free & then extort a $1,000 convenience charge?

Fork has an imaginative menu, very well executed, and a very well selected wine list. The service is excellent as well, and the dining room itself is lovely. While not cheap, Fork lives up to its reputation as one of the best places to eat in Philadelphia.

We went to Fork for our anniversary. Initially we called High Street on Market, but they were reserved for a private event. Suggested their high-end sister restaurant, Fork. It was amazing! Fun atmosphere. Incredibly creative combinations that worked well. Much of it locally sourced. First time I had either trout lilly or fermented sunchoke. Did the 4-course house menu, and left very, very happy. We'll be back!

Walking in this restaurant is light, airy and beautiful. We were seated right away as we had reservations. We chose the house menu for $78 which let you choose 4 dishes from the menu. We chose an appetizer, pasta, and a seafood main. For the last dish I chose the goat's milk cheese board and my husband chose the big French press pot of coffee since he didn't want dessert. Overall a great meal. Fresh ingredients, cooked just right. They were able to accommodate our requests and our server was fantastic. They also gave us little extras to make it like a tasting menu.

What an interesting setup with a tree in the middle big bar creative menu I had raw oysters that were perfect mushrooms with polenta really tasty coffee was good biscuits were so tender they could almost crumble my husband had French toast with raspberry jam excellent waiter was ok Visit the toilets they are beautiful

Fork restaurant is right up there with the very best of fine dining in this country. A sophisticated setting with creative cuisine and professional service, Fork is a 'must' for those interested in experiencing a totally enjoyable meal. We opted for the special House Menu which consists of 4 courses, each offering multiple options from which to choose. Starters include an incredible dish called Whipped Rabbit (a moose-like pate')and another, smoked shrimp carpaccio. Both were delicious. You then choose a pasta dish before continuing on to the main course ( including smoked monkfish & scallops, two different duck preparations, and more). Everything was beautifully prepared and served. We enjoyed it all.

We ate brunch on Saturday morning at Fork and loved it! It was super crowded so we sat at the bar and received excellent service. They were accomadating with food allergies and dietary preferences, and despite the large crowd, we were served very quickly! We will return on our next trip to philly!

When we came in, about 6:15, we were hit with a wall of joyous noise - their Happy Hour was in full swing. And everyone actually looked happy! But things simmered down soon, so the noise level for dinner was at the level where conversation was possible. The food was delicious. The bread was to die for. Some odd-sounding combinations turned out to be memorable - squash soup with pumpkin seeds? Yes! And everyone's dinner (an ersatz 'steak' made with cauliflower was devoured enthusiastically by the vegetarian teenager), and the rest of us ate duck, chicken, and fish. The wine, Spanish, was excellent. Dessert wasn't quite as good as the other dishes, but still pretty good. And the waiter was knowledgeable and careful with the allergies.

I was visiting for work and the hotel host recommended this restaurant as "expensive but good" and "ideal for a date". We went with colleagues for dinner and tried different dishes and courses. Expect to pay around one hundred dollars per person. Great food and very good taste.

Very good bar very friendly welcome good services not too much on the plate and then too expensive nice place for a diner

In October I read in the Phil Inquirer that Fork would have a new Executive Chef. So when the opportunity came, I chose Fork. WORTH THE WAIT. The service from Bill was excellent, as was the mushroom tempura and the Nigerian tiger prawn, massive and very flavorful. The decor is colorful and adds to the experience. An excellent restaurant. Worth a try.

This is a brunch-ish menu. My order of watermelon gaspacho was awful. Service was exceptionally good. Although this is a classy place, there are ample high chairs for tots. It is right in historic old city.

I was very impressed with Fork's friendly wait staff & delicious fresh food. We let the staff know that we needed to dine & finish in time to make a program at the Forrest Theater & they got us in & out with excellent service. We stuck to the prefix menu, which had a variety of choices. The chef also threw in some special delectables in between our choices, which were delicious. The asparagus gazpacho was a unique & tasty dish. I ordered the chicken, which was very moist & sumptuous. My friend ordered the fish & loved it. The presentations of the meals were impressive. I highly recommend this restaurant for great service & a very special meal.

We enjoyed a business dinner at Fork on a Monday evening. The service was excellent, and the food was terrific. I recommend the steaks, seafood and desserts. I understand from a local that on weekends the restaurant is very busy, so he recommended that we try a weekday evening. Fork was full but not overcrowded on our Monday evening. Enjoy and dig in to the delicious food.

Casual atmosphere but first class menu. Serving sizes were sufficient. I had the monk fish and scallops. Best scallops I ever had. We ordered 2 deserts to share. They were also unique and great. Would definitely return.

Really good fresh pasta. I went on a Saturday night in March 2018 with a date and had a wonderful experience. I would advise making a reservation because it can get pretty crowded on weekends. The two guys working at the bar did an excellent job of fixing up really good quality cocktails. The half size pasta are a bit small so I would advise getting a full portion rather than a half, if you are planning on sharing. The gnocchi was probably the best I’ve ever had. I would advise against bringing really young children because it's more of a fancier restaurant with elegant ambiance. Warning that its a bit on the pricey side, but worth it if you're trying to have a special evening.

Fork has a beautifully designed interior. The wait staff was excellent. The food was mostly good. Carrots and duck should have been better executed given the price of the meals.

The restaurant was recommended by a friend and we had a great evening, The food was excellent, beautifully presented, some very good rabbit. An interesting cocktail list, though be careful on the advice given. Value - perhaps a little over priced, definitely noting like a cheese steak!

I had dinner here with 2 other people and had a great experience during restaurant week. I had the chilled crab salad to start and it was very good. The citrus brightened the dish. For the main I had the smoked monkfish, which was the first time I ever had that fish. It was amazing and I loved every part of the dish. I practically licked the plate clean. I finished with the chocolate date cake, which was death by chocolate and I loved it all. My friends loved their dishes too. They ordered the winter salad, the pork, and cauliflower steak. I would definitely come back.

This was not our first visit, but likely the last. Menu items were just not up to the standards we remember from about 18 months ago. Muscles appetizer was very oily and did not start the meal well. Gnocchi was salty and a little one note. My main course of pork was not very hot. Dessert was excellent especially the chocolate marquise with peanut butter crumble which was delicious. We had the house menu, which in the past was an excellent deal. We just didn’t enjoy the food this time. Weekend noise level was very high. Ambient music needs a change.

There's a reason Fork has been around for over 20 years - the food, service and experience are always excellent. In the last few months, we've gone a couple of times and had the prix fixe, 3-course dinner as well as a la carte items from the seasonal dinner menu, and all the dishes were exquisitely prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is upscale warm and relaxed with sophistication. Fork is a Philly gem.

Nice decoration, it has a big bar area for drinks. the workers are very nice. you can see their kitchen while they prepare your food.

The food is outstanding. The staff makes it a very personal experience. That is very rare in this day and age. We highly recommend the aged steak. It was cooked to perfection. The chestnut fettuccine was also excellent.

Arriving with high expectations of this bustling restaurant in central Philadelphia, we were looking forward to an excellent dining experience. The restaurant was packed but we were quickly seated. The restaurant is loud and vibrant. Service was very efficient and professional. The smoked shrimp appetizer was a shrimp carpaccio and quite tasty although quite a small portion like one shrimp sliced micro thin and place around the plate. The mixed salad was nothing special with a beet or two thrown in (almost like a bagged salad). The bread was slightly burned and not hardly edible and the butter had melted into liquid when served. I had ordered the turbot as my main course at $36 a plate. What arrived was definitely not turbot but a much cheaper fish such as tilapia. I had recently eaten turbot in London and certainly knew the fish. This was nothing short of fish fraud. When I complained, the waiter and kitchen did not even argue as they had been caught in their game. They quickly brought me a pork dish which was a smoked pork chop like Canadian bacon; one pork rib and a slice of pork belly. Quite average and greasy. My colleague got the gnocchi which was actually good. The restaurant has a good wine list with many choices. The place is cramped so conversation is loud throughout. My biggest problem was serving a fish other than I ordered and representing it as a much more expensive fish. I am sure many diners would not know the difference. The low rating is primarily for this but the food is average otherwise and certainly not worth the high price. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Amazing food and service! Everything that you would want in a higher end restaurant. I would recommend this place 10/10!

I had dinner here about 20 years ago, & we just happened to get walking by, so we stopped in for lunch. We were fortunate enough to be seated right away & our Server quickly took our drink order. The menu offered a wide assortment of vegan, salads, soups & other heavier options. I went with the burger & it was even better than expected. Overall, a great experience & will definitely go back for dinner the next time in Philadelphia.

Our table was next to the kitchen (my idea of a good dinner is NOT watching the kitchen staff) and too close to other tables. Food was average to good. Limited menu. Excellent service. A bit pricey for what you get

Friends recommended, and so glad they did. Beautiful space, friendly staff, excellent bartender (we arrived early and enjoyed terrific craft cocktails at the bar, and were seated early as soon as a table was ready). And we weren't hurried through our meal even though the restaurant was full up on a Friday night. Every course was unique and delicious -- great tastes, great textures, and well-proportioned for a four-course meal. Our new favorite in Philly for sure.

Had the pleasure of dining at Fork on a recent business trip. This is a moderately sized restaurant which is a plus. The service is on a more personal level. The menu is not extensive, but well edited. The food was all good, just not quite at the next level you hope for. Certainly a pleasant spot and worth consideration, but unfortunately not a "must return" spot on my next trip to Philadelphia.

My wife and I went to Fork on the recommendation of a very nice lady at the NPS Visitor Center. She said to try it if we wanted a good meal. She was 100% correct. From the hostess greeting us warmly (even though we did not have a reservation) to the various wait staff we encountered everyone was very friendly. The food was really good and we splurged on apple rice pudding with caramel ice cream. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Just be aware you get what you pay for. A cheesesteak someplace would have been much cheaper but this is a wonderful special night out.

Our Philly Friends suggested Fork, and it turned out to be excellent. We had the sweetbreads and Chestnut Pasta to start. The Sweetbread were a surprise. because I had never had them crispy, but they were good. Our friends had fish and found the dishes to be excellent. We shared the Steak for Two and it was outstanding. However, make sure you charge your phone; you need light to see the menu.

I really enjoyed their wine list. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. The squash soup was amazing! I like how most of their appetizers were vegetable based. Being a vegetarian, there wasn’t much to order from the entrees. However I thought the food was good. I was disappointed that they took the gnocchi off their menu. Would go back though.

We came upon this little find trying while taking cover from the rain. Lunch was very good. After lunch, still waiting out the rain we ordered coffee an a cappuccino. They served us a complimentary pastry. How nice! My husband says the cappuccino was the best he's had. Friendly during our entire stay.

Walking in, the restaurant seemed chic and trendy, but a bit loud. Even as the crowd thinned out, it was noisy. I will chalk this up to me not doing my homework as other reviewers mention the noise levels. My date had a dirty martini and they did not have blue cheese stuffed olives. Not a big deal, but the olives they did have were really small and dark green - noticeably not standard. My drink, a dark n stormy was not right. I concluded the bartender didn't know how to make one and improvised. I was on a date, so I let it go. We did the tasting menu. The food was very good: pear salad, oysters, grilled shrimp, gnocchi, duck. Nothing truly stood out as great. Portions were modest, but overall meal was filling. Everybody was very pleasant and professional, but service all the way around was slow. So much so that we skipped the dessert, which was part of the tasting menu.

I dined by myself at the bar. Everything exceeded my expectations. The staff was very helpful in defining food choices and the cocktails and wine selection was excellent. Even though I ate by myself, I was treated as a real customer and had a great evening.

This was a truly special meal. Great for special occasions, everything was so beautifully presented. The wine pairing complemented the food.

We tried Fork for the first time after reviewing what seemed like 100 other restaurants. We were greeted by the hostess and asked if our reservation could be switched to be outside. She didn't seem too happy about the request and the only table left was one that was right up against the door. We stuck with our original plan and were seated right away. I ordered a Grey Goose Dirty martini only to be told they don't carry Grey Goose and then no Tito's. So a bit of limited bar. The drink specials were alcohols I've never heard of and didn't have any idea what they were. My husband and I felt like the menu (dinner options) were rather limited in options. 3 fish, a duck option, a burger, a steak and a vegetarian option. We did have the most amazing cheese appetizer. It was delicious. Also the oysters were fantastic and the watermelon, cucumber salad (although not to my liking, my husband thought it was great). We decided to split the 32oz steak. That was absolutely amazing! Kudos to the chef!! The "bark" was delicious! Perfectly prepared to medium rare. Absolutely melt in your mouth. I would like to rate Fork higher but the limited bar, the very limited menu itself and a steak (albeit amazing) at $145, we will not be returning to Fork. It was a nice, "do it once" place but we are all set moving forward.

My son in Denver researched restaurants in Philadelphia and gave us a gift certificate to Fork. We had lunch here and really enjoyed our meal. Both my husband and I had the parsnip soup which was excellent. My husband had the steak fries and thought the meat was excellent. I had the granola arso pappardelle which had very tender meat and a tasty sauce. We shared the coffee creme caramel and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's nice going to a restaurant where the food is different. Our server was very helpful with explaining the various dishes. We both thought the painted murals were lovely and the fact that they had been painted by an artist who had worked there made it even more special.

Cozy, warm Sophisticated interior and Interesting food for a lunch. We had the polenta and squash with granola Padang grated cheese and arugula and a Cobb salad . The sparkling water was complimentary. Lovely restaurant to dine in on a cold afternoon with the warm lighting and exposed kitchen. The restaurant does add 20% gratuity which is a good thing for all

Dinner with friends before theater. We were on a time limit and the restaurant was great with it. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and we each had a main course . The crispy corn was remarkable, the rugbrot was a little fishy for me, but still good, the burrata and squash was perfection. These are complex dishes. The main courses we ordered were duck (good), salmon (ok, but nothing special) and the giant prawn, which was a masterpiece. The room is one of the prettiest in Philadelphia -- go see for yourself.

Some courses were good (peekytoe crab salad, lobster ravioli, lamb Ragu gnocchi) and some were weak (oysters lacked flavor and steak was under seasoned and poorly cooked), but the waiter was the negative that resonated in my mind. My wife didn't want to drink alcohol as she was recovering from a stomach illness and the waiter rolled his eyes when she ordered a ginger ale. We didn't see him until he brought the check - but you can be sure the support staff (who in fairness was friendly and effective) was there every two minutes to move us along (to help turn the table). Food was decent; service was forgettable...

Great decor, extensive and creative food and drink menu (salmon to die for) and the simply first class service makes Fork a must do.

The service was great, the cocktails delicious, good wine list at reasonable prices. The food was a mix of intriguing, surprising and disappointing. My friend and I started with the house charcuterie plate, which included a rustic pate that was first rate. For our entrees, we ordered the Lamb & Sausage and the Striped Bass. I didn't taste the lamb, but my friend finished nearly all of it - a good sign. The bass was meh. It had a beautiful crispy skin and was prepared to the perfect doneness, but it was fishier than bass should taste. I was on the fence about sending it back but didn't see anything else in the entrees that looked as good to me. The sauce was a mushroom barigoule, a sauce with a fun history about times when mushrooms were the main ingredient and other times when artichokes were featured. The sauce was good and would have benefited from even more umami, maybe more mushrooms! Our final item was a preparation of shaved Brussel Sprouts with horseradish, which were by far the best dish of the night. For $250 (including wine and gratuity) we weren't excited enough to return. It falls into the category of good service and ambiance but tries too hard on the food and maybe overshot.

Visited this restaurant while on a business trip to Philadelphia. We had a private room in the back we had great service and the food was delicious.

Hmm, loved the oysters, served with a simple mignonette. I’ll always order soft shell crabs because I love them! Crab was cooked well; choice of preparation very questionable. Oat tabbouleh-formed a coagulated mess of porridge and uncooked oats, also way over salted. Also too many ingredients on the plate for such a humble crab. Lots of waitstaff and service average.

We found this place around the corner from our hotel in Philadelphia. The food and service was great. Our server did great with my food allergy. He was great and we had a great night. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of 5 was because I felt like it was a little too pricey for some items and the bread was burned on the bottom.

Some reviews said they try too hard. We say try harder! The tables are so close that it's practically family style. Prepare to hear all conversations. The staff were sweet but the service is bad. I ordered a medium well steak just to play it safe. It was charred to death!! The vegetables served were not properly cooked. We ordered cheese cake for dessert. It was a bowl of cream with no crust. Is that really cheese cake? Very expensive - $46.00 charred burnt inedible steak - place that is overrated. Don't.
Wonderful service
We had Sunday brunch on Memorial Day weekend visiting Philadelphia and sat outside. The service at Fork was excellent- you can tell that management spends time with the staff and cares about taking care of their patrons. The food was very good and we enjoyed our visit. Great local coffee and they source local farms as well. You could tell how fresh the eggs were- rich and tasteful. Really nice touch at the end with a home made sorbet or ice cream to finish!
