Last time i had Neapolitan pizza was in Italy. The very thin crust and the dough that puffs up around the sides, gives you a very airy and tasty crust. You almost need an Italian dictionary to translate all of the cheeses and meats that you can get on your pizza. We started withe calamari and grilled octopus. Both very tasty and enjoyable especially the octopus. Order the tre carne and the visuvio. The thinly sliced meats made the pizza lite and tasty. You have to like olives and anchovies to enjoy he visuvio. Pizza are pricey but great quality!

One of the best Italian pizza in town! Perfectly cooked pizza, quality ingredients, friendly staff. Highly raccomended. Complimenti

My husband and I happened on this place in November, 2014; we have returned several times and have never been disappointed. It's a bit of a hike from our place near the downtown area where we are innundated with pizza places. I've had my share of wood fired pizzas, when I'm out west, the bay area is loaded with them. Many of them are good, but this place is really special-- the 'za is superb! The pizza is Napoli style- light, chewy crust- yum! My husband can eat a whole one, so when there are six of us, we'll order 4 or 5 of them. They make a big deal about everything coming from Italy, fermenting the crust, etc- so I guess its fantastic taste is because of all that. We've tried many of the pizzas- they are all standouts. Try the barese- white sauce with grilled rapini- excellent. We've also tried the salads and the appetizers-- all delicious, for ex, their arugula salad with pear & gorgonzola is the best version I've had, the homemade caponata and the rice balls are favorites of mine, too. You can't go wrong, with one exception, the place just doesn't do calamari very well; either fried or grilled. The tiramisu was freshly made- creamy and delicious, perfect consistency. I know it's amazing because I find myself wondering what I need from that neighborhood, so I can have an excuse to go back there. The oven is really beautiful-- it's a bit odd for me to mention something like this-- but it really is a thing of beauty-- the quality of craftsmanship just beckons a look. The place is casual, long bar, sports on TVs, wood floor, tables, chairs- nice but nothing special like the oven. Excellent service, friendly manager and waitress

Don’t miss out on this gem of a restaurant! Staff was friendly and had tons of suggestions! Had the pistachio pizza that was A-mazing! Cannoli and Tiramisu for dessert! Vibe is family friendly and laid back with a Tuscan decor. Would definitely come back!

We originally came here a year ago after seeing the great review it got on "Check Please" on WTTW. We have been here several times since then and it is a wonderful local restaurant with attentive service and delicious pizza. The caponata is so delicious served with toasted fresh Italian bread slices. The pizzas are so fresh and they only take 90 seconds to cook in the special wood burning oven - just like in Naples. They have added a 2nd room - there really isn't any waiting time. I definirely recommend this place.

If you loved pizza from Rome and Florence, Italy and want to relive the real thing, then eat at Forno Rosso. They get the flour, tomatoes, artichokes, cheese and other ingredients from Italy twice a week. The wood burning oven cooks this tender, chewy crust to perfection in minutes. The appetizers of arancini and spiedini are generous servings that are perfect for sharing and that includes their salads. The tiramisu is homemade and creamy. The restaurant is newly renovated and modern in appearance and so clean. They serve lunch and dinner so make this a stop you must try. It is now my favorite pizza restaurant that is like Italy in Chicago. So perfect..........

The pizza here was delicious. Definitely the best I’ve had in Chicago. Really reminds me of the best places I’ve been in Italy. Worth trying ...

The best pizza I’ve ever tried! It’s a bit hard to put into words, the crust was full but light, and crispy in the right places, the plentiful fresh mozzarella delightful and the sauce perfectly seasoned. There was no way to improve this pie! It was a sizzling work of edible art. And these are real Italian guys creating their delicacies in an authentic red Italian wood fired oven. And the beautiful Italian bartenders...wow, this was truly a pizza pleasure world!!

We went to this charming pizza place on a business trip. The food was delicious! We got the locale pizza (homemade sausage), calamari and walnut/gorganzola salad. AMAZING! The waiter explained the history of the establishment and the owner greeted us. Wow! Hometown feel in a big city.

This is authentic Neopolitan pizza, with quality ingredients, and lots of choices for the different toppings. The wait staff and the manager are genuinely nice, and glad to have you at the restaurant. They are always busy, so try to make a reservation. The bar area is small, and there aren't many seats to accommodate a wait.

I live blocks away from this little gem, but never went. The only thing negative I can say is that parking can be challanging, but it's totally worth it. I had their fried calamari, specialty pizza which was delicious and i even got dessert which i never do. Their tiramisu was in a martini glass and amazing!! :) Thank you, I will definitely be going back! All the pizza's are 12 inches.....we only got 1 and split it between my husband and myself, and my almost 2 year old daughter. We didn't even need to order a 2nd pizza, but if we did it would only take 90 seconds according to our waitress!! :)

Ok, I love a wood fired pizza but this pizza is amazing and cooked perfectly with that light yet toothsome bite, tear chew factor of this yummy leoparded crust! The ingredients are all fresh, local and some imported and it makes a huge difference in richness of flavors! Pizza can be elegant and Forno Rosso nailed this perfectly!!! I love their ovens! So classic and produce a perfect crust. This is Naples style pizza and a really fresh change from heavy deep dish or pizzas with too much heavy crust and greasy toppings! Try the carbonara one for a different twist! It's excellent!!

Like many others who have recently discovered Forno Rosso, I saw it on Check Please and a few days later, we were admiring the beautiful red tile oven blazing away and ready to welcome our Margarita. There was a wide choice of appetizers and salads, and we shared the marvelous rice balls (arronciata) loaded with goodies, but not heavy. We ordered one Margarita, but hearing that the sausage was really special we had a pizza with that combined with a green vegetable that tempered some of the richness. My 9 year old grandson loved the pizza but not as much as the dessert which was also a pizza but a sweet one. That was the Nutella special....two layers of thin dough with bananas and Nutella in between, a little powdered sugar and a strawberry. We all dug into that and concluded that it was a winner, whatever your age. The ease of parking was another plus. Since it is in a small strip mall, there is parking right in front of the restaurant, where there is a patio with some tables and chairs.. Maybe it would be o.k. in summer, but then the Harlem Avenue traffic with noise and pollution might make me want to sit inside with air conditioning. Today I returned with a group of friends who had never been there. They all enjoyed it and plan to return with their families. Once you eat this pizza -- the real thing -- it will be hard to return to American style pizza. the flour, the tomatoes, the cheese, the oil, all imported from Italy. Today we tried the tiramisu, served in a martini glass, with an extra treat at the bottom.....the ladyfinger soaked in a coffee liquor. We ordered one, and five of us shared it. And the owner is a delight, very personable, and his parents live across the street, so this is his neighborhood. Go with a group so you can order a variety of foods and do the taste test. Try to pick an off time; today we went at about 3:00 p.m. and we received great service because it was not very crowded then. There were more people than I would have expected for either a late lunch or early dinner. But whenever you go, you will find it an inexpensive substitute for a trip to Naples.

I loved the food here. It is a wonderful local restaurant that specializes in pizza cooked in a wood oven. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is nice. I will go back when I am in Chicago next.

We had a great experience at Forno Rosso!! We had more people show up for a reservation of 30, and it was a packed restaurant! Giorgio the manager really went out of his way to get an extra table to accommodate the extra 5 people that showed up!! Our waitress Carla was wonderful and very patient with us! The food and service at Forno Rosso was GREAT!! Highly recommend this pizzeria/restaurant!!

We had great pizza when we went to Naples, Italy and we fell in love with that style of pizza. We found another one while in San Francisco which was just as good as in Napoli and we always look for good pizza in our travels. We found this place and we noticed that their ingredients are imported from Italy and the waitress was italian and some of the customers were italians too. Anyway, the pizza is excellent, not as good as in Italy or SF but it is very good pizza. Also they have a few choices of Italian beers that you dont even see in Italy. I assume they are microbreweries. I think is way better than Spacca.

My daughter and I went here, on a whim, and it was absolutely awesome. The staff was very friendly and the food was outstanding. We had the Bruschetta - it was fresh and delicious. The pizza was very authentic, crust just the way that I like it and was topped with just the right amount of ingredients. When we were done eating, the GM stopped at the table to check on us and welcome us to the restaurant. Very nice.

This happens to be one of our favorite eating establishments! The pizza is served fresh and fast. Delicious desserts. Great wine and beer choices. Great place for the entire family, date night or lunch with mom! Great service. Gets busy, so be prepared to wait. Enjoy!!

This restaurant is a neighborhood destination restaurant. At 62, the trendy, experimental food palaces are all the same, "...an expensive, delicious flash in the pan." I LOOK FOR, FIND AND PATRONIZE RESTAURANTS, WITH "HONEST FOOD." Nick Nitti—the owner and man who feels, knows and trains quality is the epitamy of dedication to the art and daily craft of phenomenal Napolitano pizza. Note: if you do not know what differentiates the style of pizza from Naples, from the traditional Amerikan cardboard pizza or you prefer sticky bread dough to delicate puffy crust— prepared in a 1,000 degree brick oven then this restaurant is not for you, unless you want to open your eyes and taste buds. It is one of few pizza restaurants, in the USA, certified as authentic by the Italian VPN; look it up. if you like great food, ingredients that explode with flavor, go there. BUT do not be whining and complaining, to the server, "...that this pizza is different than normal. I want my money back." Because I may be disturbed at the table next to yours enjoying the freshest ingredients brought to Chicago. And that commentary never ends well with me. So, go to Trip Advisor and read about it first. If you enjoy cardboard pizza and acidic tomato puree out of the can—leave the Forno Rosso patrons and especially the dedicated servers alone. Go to Pizza Hut instead. I prefer the Harlem Avenue, Forno Rosso location. Giorgio, the manager, runs the room like he owns it: true dedication. The service staff is committed to quality as well: with the odd one-off server that is rote and uncommitted but they're gone—in the blink of an eye. If you are lucky enough to get Sam as your server. She will assure THE BEST possible dining experience. She is the role model for all the dedicated wait staff. FROM OUT OF TOWN? STUCK BETWEEN FLIGHTS AT O'HARE? BORED IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM? Do not eat corporate crap or hotel room-service-slop, on your bed. Grab an Ūber and 10 minutes later you will have a unique dinner, in a sophisticated but casual setting. This is an Italian neighborhood so do not let the strip mall location put you off. On Harlem Avenue. This is the way it works. From Chicago or Timbuktu; JUST DO IT! This level of quality is hard to fine at these fair prices. Freshest ingredients. Great service. And food prepared with love! Tomorrow or Wednesday, I am heading there. Born and raised Italian in Chicago; I know quality. If you like the food, service, etc. Like this review or let me know.

My son, his girlfriend and I went here for an early dinner this past weekend. After reading reviews and online menu, I picked Forno because it seemed like the food was good. I wasn't disappointed! Food was tasty! The price was reasonable. The only issue we had was the service was a bit slow considering there were only about a dozen other tables with customers. I would return if in the area, my son said he would definitely be back.

No reservation, after 45 min wait realized they had mistakenly marked us off...they were very apologetic and gave us all free drinks. The pizza was fantastic and they went out of their way to correct the earlier mistake that was genuine. Would definitely recommend for service and food.

Visited with family after reading about Forno Rosso and couldn’t wait to try it. I had pizza in Italy and had to compare, and I was not disappointed! The food is fantastic, and service was as good as it gets. They import most if not all their ingredients from Italy, including the Caputo flour from Napoli, which may be the best in the world. If you want the real deal, you will find it here. The staff was super friendly and truly cares about your experience too. Try the gelato with espresso coffee poured on it, and the olive antipasto platter with your pizza. In fact, try everything!

"Forno Rosso is a very simple and authentic Italian pizzeria. The second I walked in, I felt so welcomed by the host and waiters themselves. Even though got there earlier than the rest of the group, the restaurant staff came with great attention to ask me if I'd like go wait at my table or the bar, and if I'd like anything to drink. They have an amazing selection of wine, which my waiter helped me chose just the perfect one for the "girls night" situation. I waited about 10 minutes until my friends came in. We were four and none of us had dinned at Forno Rosso before. Julia, my friend, said that she found out about this restaurant through Seated, and after that she heard and read good reviews about it. Why not? we decided to check it out. It was probably the highlight of my day. The food was amazing and distinct from any other pizzerias. The staff accompanied them to our table and started giving suggestions on what to order. They recommended us ordering the pizza Bianco Cavallo, and wow, we were impressed. The waiter explained how their pizza oven heats up so hot and fast. I thought it was cool because it just made their restaurant part of that speedy system, you know? When you want quick and great food, come to Forno Rosso! The food was brought out very rapidly and once we ate they offered the dessert menu. Their Nutella pizza was the best I've ever eaten! I will definitely be coming back for the amazing food and pleasant service.

Fire oven pizza was absolutely amazing! Great drinks and appetizers. Wonderful servers. Large serving and good the next day!

I should've left my expectations at home for this one. This place was rated 4.5 out of 5, I beg to differ because the 2 dishes I had were totally underwhelming. Locale pizza: kinda like a margherita pizza with sausage and mushrooms. The server suggested that this is their most popular pizza... Why??? Although the server claimed use of local ingredients, this pizza was more on the bland side for me. Perhaps more seasoning in their sauce and meat may be the answer but then I wasn't happy with the crust either. It was soft and soggy in the middle making it impossible to pick up a piece... Ay Caramba! My perpetual search for Italian pizza ends right here. I realized it's mission impossible. It's kinda like me going to Italy looking for the best Chicago style pizza. I give up! Caponata (appetizer): it's like an eggplant and olive salad with sweet vinegar dressing.... the bread was so hard and literally hurt the top of my palate. The eggplant mix is ok, nothing spectacular. I wonder if it's better served warm. I had 1 slice of pizza and 1 bread slice with the eggplant. Needless to say, my appetite died along with my high expectations. The service was great, the server was very knowledgeable and friendly, the price was way high, ambiance good, and variety of apps and pizzas were satisfactory. I saw the beer and mixed drinks were priced at $12. This place is way overpriced and way under-tasty. Thank you for putting my search to rest Forno Rosso! Prego!

Tried Forno Rosso (Red Oven in Italian) last week and... wow! The pizza is amazing. If you have never been lucky enough to be in Napoli, Italia, you can just go here and have a really similar pizza. We got the diavolo rosso and the pizza locale. We loved both. Please remember that those are italian pizza, so do not be cheap and get one each! Italians do not get salad before pizza. Going out for a pizza with friends, literally means that you go out, have a pizza, one, due or tre beers and a dessert if you have more space. They have my favorite beer, Moretti Rossa. Red beer, creamy, really tasty. Great with spicy salami. The place is pretty open but I noticed some more private space in the back. We really liked the pizza and will definitely go back.

Bought back memories of living in Italy. It was my idea of authentic pizza, not what we get here. My companion preferred American style. I told her it was good we skipped pizza in Naples last November because this was what we would have gotten.

I love thin pizza but the middle of our pizza was almost non existent. The dough in the middle literally disappeared - You could not pick it up because the tomatoes, cheese etc just slid right off. I wanted to like it so much but was disappointed. I found the sauce to be a bit too watery which might explain why the middle of the pizza was so soggy. Yet on the other hand, our panini was done right and delicious. The sandwich was really good and very filling. Next time I think I will have another panini and fried calamari instead of a pizza.

Outstanding pizza in an upscale but relaxed setting. Apps are also excellent. Beverage service is very good and waitstaff is attentive and friendly. Local place with world class pizza!

My husband and I have had lunch/dinner here many times. The pizzas are big enough to share for a couple (3 slices per person) they have some unique combos to delight almost any palate.

Forno Rosso has delicious pizza and salads. We had a veggie pizza and a salad, both were very good. The pizza has near perfect read sauce and fresh ingredients. Our kids each got their own cheese pizzas shaped one as Nemo, and the other as Mickey Mouse. They were both happy and my son said, " the pizza was worth the cost."

Been to the Harlem location several times. Pizza oven with a good staff and comfortable atmosphere. Parking gets very tight and is limited space. They have a great spicy oil to put on anything you order, and they sell it (for your info!) I recommend. Go with friends, for a cheerful time ... And dont skip out on wine and espresso, gelato if its served! Yumm!

Spontaneous visit on a Saturday night. They were super busy so it took a little while to get the pizza, but it was well worth it. Excellent, perfectly cooked pizza Bufalina and one with their local sausage. Both were great. This was our second visit and we've concluded that this is our "spot for pizza". Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been here about 3 or 4 times now and each dining experience has been great. I recommend asking for Natalia to be your server. She has made great suggestions and somehow she remembers what we have ordered and will suggest other items to try so we don't always ask for the same thing. The meatballs app, the artisan pizza made with fresh ingredients and flour imported from Italy is some of the best pizza I've ever had and that's coming from a person who has dined around the world. The deserts are to die for. Go ahead and order a bottle of wine. If for some reason you can't finish the bottle they'll cork it up to take home. The manager is very friendly and treats us like family.

I dined here recently with my wife and another couple, we wanted to try it since we heard it was authentic Napoli-style pizza (my wife has been to Napoli for reference). They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait a bit if you arrive at prime dining hours. Casual ambience, high energy, in a strip mall and it was busy enough on our weekend evening visit to wait 15 minutes (long enough for a drink at the bar). When seated, we had a fun meal. Our server was professional, helpful and quick. We ordered calamari to take the edge off our hunger, then each ordered a pizza (Napoli pizza is traditionally ordered per person), and a salad to share. All of our pizzas were delicious, as we shared slices, and we didn't have to take any home. Bonus!

Amazing Pizza, cannoli and Nutella pizza! Highly recommend!!!! It is worth the cab ride!!! Great atmosphere!!! Great place and very enjoyable!

I will admit to being a touch skeptical about all of the rave reviews Forno Rosso has received. After all, how much different can one pizza restaurant be from other good choices. Well...the answer is that it can be significantly different, and significantly better. This is an absolutely terrific place. Except for appetizers and some salads, pizza is it for Forno Rosso - no pasta dishes, no veal dishes, just pizza. And in one size (12" - perfect for two people). A wide choice of pizzas; we had "Rosso Diavolo" - a moderately spicy tomato sauce. The ingredients are clearly all of superb quality, staring with the Neapolitan flour. This is authentic Neapolitan style, meaning that the crust is actually softer than what we are used to (and it is best eaten with a knife and fork, just as they do in Naples). The flavor of the crust is rich, the texture is perfect. We also had a scrumptious grilled octopus appetizer. It isn't the cheapest pizza place, but it once again proves that you get what you pay for. Every aspect of the pizza was exquisite.

To be fair, my husband was not looking for a Neapolitan pizza. Too foo-foo for him but he was a good sport in indulging me. So we drove to this place from the burbs after reading a positive review in a Tribune pizza article. Grilled calamari was good but not exceptional. The Locale pizza was good but not exceptional. Think this place had made the pizza list in the Tribune because of the sausage which was quite tasty. Crust excellent. Now, the service. Our friendly waitress took our orders and we never saw her again. I wanted to order some capers which are advertised as a free addition to any pizza. Was also contemplating another glass of wine. A different server brought our pizza and I had to flag down the manager to get our check paid. Not sure what happened there but if there was an emergency, someone should have covered our table. So, in conclusion, Forno Rosso worth a stop if you in the neighborhood just to see the red oven if nothing else. But don't expect too much.

We saw this on Check Please on Friday, November 21st & everyone on the show loved it. We had to go and being that it was so close to us was a great perk. Its in a strip mall & we past it on our first go around. The parking was a little bit of an issue, but we found parking on Harlem. We got there around 5ish so we had seats at the bar. This is a small place, seats 85 people...the bartender was great and we ordered their best sellar drink - strawberry martini and it was worth the 10 bucks. George, Manager, started talking to us and was very friendly and warm. We started with the grilled octopus which was fanstastic...it was not chewy, very tender and 4 decent size pieces, we also had the burrata (soft cheese) it was also very good. I cannot remember the name of the pizza, but it did have their localy made sausage on it and we enjoyed it...the crust is amazing...chewy and tender all at the same time...it takes only 90 seconds for the pizza to be cooked and was a perfect size for two people. this pizza is not what you normally get in the area...it is a speciality pizza, from the way the dough is handled, to the specialty toppings, the cheese..they explain how they are VPN certified ( one of only 2 in Chicago). By the time we were getting ready to leave the place was a Mad house (hoorah for the owners)...but the atmosphere was that of a party and no one seemed upset about the wait. I would say the drinks are a little pricey for the area, but the Italian crafts beers were tasty and worth the try... We will definitely be back and can't wait to try everything on the menu...

We just returned from our Italian vacation and was so excited to find this neighborhood gem. My husband and I felt like we had returned to Naples for a moment. We each shared a margherita and prosciutto arugula pizza. They were amazing. The pizza dough was so soft and chewy. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The drinks were great. I had a limoncello martini that was so perfect. The staff was so friendly and kind. Overall it was an amazing experience!

I am going to keep this short and sweet. Go HERE. We flew in from Toronto and wanted to find a good pizza place near our hotel. Luckily we nailed it and found this wonderful place. Amazing amazing food and even better service!

It has been years since we visited Naples and were both surprised but delighted with the style of pizza served there. Now Chicago has this wonderful restaurant with interesting options. We also were so pleased to get such a perfectly prepared panserotti ( lightly fried dough filled with melted cheese and tomato sauce found in small family restaurants all over Italy). I tried the Pistachio pesto pizza with special local sausage and was very pleased. The thin crust was saturated with melted cheese and olive oil in the center, but puffy and light on the edges. There were many options besides traditional margarita style including some spicy sausage options. Although each pizza is considered to be a personal size, they would easily serve two.

We sat at our table and soon enough we felt very well taken care of. The waiter described the menu well and when asked the history and ownership he answered proudly and showed us the Authentic Certificate of Pizza Napoletana. We ordered and soon the owner came out with a plate of Caponata. It was a very pleasant experience, and we enjoyed the pizza fully. Parking is somewhat an issue but what can you expect for that area.

Food was great. Service was great. Owner treated us well We felt very welcomed and the food was excellent

While staying on the outskirts of downtown our family began searching for somewhere to eat. When we travel we always look for local places and my son stumbled across this place. Set in the corner of a small shopping strip I was so surprised upon entering. We were greeted so warmly and the place was very quaint and beautiful inside. We were quickly seated, water brought to the table and soon after our order was placed. They have very fresh ingredients with a variety of pizzas, appetizers, salads and others. We had Spiedini as an appetizer which was prosciutto di Parma wrapped baby arugula and fontina cheese, shaved parmigiana Reggiano, drizzled with balsamic reduction. Hungry yet?? My husband and I shared a small pizza Rosso Diavolo which had hot soppressata, fresh mozzarella and crush red pepper. The crust is baked in a large red open flame oven making light and airy. It is thin as some have said but that's ok for me because you don't feel like your eating bread pizza, the flavor is amazing and they give you spicy olive oil they make themselves to dip the crust into. We so wanted to try the Nutella dessert but we were just too full. As we left the same gentleman (I am thinking the owner maybe) came to greet us and shake our hands. Was such a pleasant dinner. I would highly recommend going if you can but leave room for the dessert.

Used to LOVE this place, their roasted beet salad was amazing. Went today, and it was mediocre at best. The sliced beets have been replaced with a few diced beets, much less goat cheese, a pistachio or two, and two orange segments. Charge more if you have to, but don’t ruin the dish by skimping on every ingredient.

Excellent pizza!! Premium quality and service a taste of real Italian pizza!! Highly recommended! Lucky

We had a great meal here. The pizza is outstanding! Service was good, too. We were there in the wintertime, which was fine, but I would like to go back when we could sit outside. We will certainly be back.

Great Neapolitan style, super thin pizzas. There is a nice assortment of toppings available, and the preparation is good. There is a bar, with cocktails, wine and some beer on draft. There is a small amount of outdoor seating, by the parking lot. The service is friendly, with a great vibe that is family friendly. Enjoy meeting the owner. A little out of the way, but worth the trip.

avarage pizza, nothing special. When you go to an Italian place you have higher expectations. staff is friendly

We went there the night before our flight as we were staying near the airport at Hyatt Regency. By far the best and most authentic pizza I’ve tried in the states! True Neapolitan. I’m vegan, my family isn’t and everyone left so so happy. Delicious!

HOT! HOT! HOT! Still one of the best Napoletana pizza around. No wait for lunch during the week. Service has improved from the last visit. Acoustic could be improved. Nick, the owner, is now in newly opened restaurant on west Randolph Street. Georgio, the manager, is hands-on and in control! Don't miss it!

Brought my staff here for lunch recently, and since I'm a big fan of this style of pizza, I was hoping for the best; I got it! We had three pizzas and finished all of them! A spicy diavolo with sopressata, another with prosciutto and arugula, and the third with various vegetables (artichokes, olives). All were great and recommend this as one of the best of this style in Chicago.

This is our place to go for a good pizza!! Taste has never disappointed us, pizza is always excellent! The dough little burned on the sides is my favorite part. When we order pizza for delivery they will never cut it into pieces- it holds way better this way. Grilled calamari and octopus will not disappoint you! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Italian pizza! If you are used to americanized pizza with an inch of cheese on top, this is no place for you.

Tuesday night search for a new place. Greeted warmly entering the restaurant. Nice wine selection. Shared two pizzas that came scarily fast out of the wood burning oven. And they were perfection. The owner, Giorgio, came over to welcome us and check if everything was OK. Had to have a cannoli, and they were extaordinarily fresh. Attentive, friendly service. A bit pricey, but worth it. We'll be back.

first of all, you need to be a fan of wood burning oven pizza. We are. We have several places we like to go where they serve it, each slightly different but Forno Rosso is the best. We shared 2 12" pizzas thinking we'd have some to take home: wrong. They came out piping hot and delicious, we gobbled them up and finished them all. In addition my husband tried an Italian craft beer, unlike anything he'd ever had before, and the final plus: they offered us free limoncello tastes to finish off! Yum. Yum.

We tried the cheese and charcuterie plates. Excellent selection and good quantity! But the pizza was amazing. Fire roasted almost like flat bread. Fresh toppings good sauce. Great drinks fantastic deserts

Small pizza bar/cafe. Wait staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was fresh and delicious!!! Highly recommend!

I have my favorite Neapolitan pizza joint (in Seattle: Tutta Bella ) and I was more than skeptical about heading to a strip mall on Harlem. Nevertheless, we made reservations for a Saturday night and headed over with a party of 5. From the arancini (we're Sicilian, Chicagoans, and picky), to the salads and pizzas, and then the cannoli, gelato, and spumoni - it was all perfect. Possibly better. Service and food quality are outstanding. The manager came over to check on us personally, and then provided limoncello as a (comped) treat with dessert. We returned a couple of weeks later (just this last Saturday) and it was the same. Perfect. We'll be regulars, I think.

A little pricey, but the food is really good. Try the food fired pizza. Ingredients are fresh and high quality. Excellent calamari too.

I was with a party of 20 or so who had a dinner here. A lot of restaurants don't do well with large groups, especially in a space small like this one. But everything here was perfect. Great food (I had a prosciutto and arugula pizza) from the pizzas, the anti-pasta platters, the gelato and decent beer selection with prices that are very low for Chicago. Two Peronis and a pizza was $25. I'd definitely go back. Just be careful when you're driving to it because it's a blink and you'll miss it situation. Also, parking in their lot is limited.

We went here with friends who had heard about it from yet another friend, and we were very glad we did. It's a bit of a drive for us--and we have good Neapolitan pizza close by, too--but it was worth it. The staff are very friendly, the food freshly- and well-prepared, and the manager/owner came out towards the end of the meal to see if we enjoyed everything. We ordered three pizzas, a house salad, and the grilled calamari appetizer; everything was excellent. Even though we were full, we ordered the chocolate-covered spumoni ice cream for dessert, and shared it (among the four of us)--lovely! While I agree with someone else's comment about the room's lack of charm (the restaurant appears more like a fast-food place than the good restaurant that it is), the food and the staff make up for it. We will be back.

Love their pizzas and the rest of the menu. The calzone is to die for. Friendly service, very cool place!

The pizza at Forno Rosso has to be eaten right out of the oven because it is cooked to perfection. The Carbonara pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, pancetta and an egg was superb. The Barese has mild locally made sausage and rapini - a nice contrast. Three of us ordered two pizzas thinking we would have leftovers. But we ate them both. It would have been a crime to have left any. The grilled squid with dandelion greens, balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil was a tasty appetizer, and not over cooked. A man sitting near us said we had to try the tiramisu for dessert. So we did. It was fabulous. Moretti on draft. Nice service. What more could you ask for?

The pizzas was made from all fresh ingredients and authentic not the same as everywhere else. The pizza tasted great, the caprese was memorable and the drinks well made. Our server was Valentina a very funny and friendly young lady. She was ably assisted by Hectori, one of those guys that ladys fall all over to sit in his area. He was okay anyway. The manager came to our table with after dinner drinks and chatted for a while. It was an all together fun experience

We've been meaning to go here for a while, and finally made it. it is in a strip mall, and it's a busy lot, but parking on the street is safe and available. Now for the food. We got a couple of appetizers, The Speidini and the wood roasted olives. Both were very good. The arugula and prosciutto in the Speidini were so fresh, and the olives, I've never just had hot olives before, were so tasty, we ate the entire order. We then decided to get a white and a red pizza (as first timers, we wanted to try everything). They had a special white pizza with butternut squash, sausage, walnuts and buffalo mozzarella. It was hard not to eat the whole thing and not share. The Red pizza was the Capricciosa, with mushrooms, artichokes, kalamata olives, prosciutto, pecorino, fresh mozzarella, and basil. Another amazing choice. The crust is so light, and tasty, the wood oven adds something that can't be described. (at least by me). There are a lot of great pizza places in Chicago, but you should add Forno Rosso to any planned pizza tour. !! DONT SKIP THE DESERT!! Spumoni Bomba was our choice. so good.

Here's a nice gem in the Dunning area. They have great Neopolitan pizza. They have a wide selection of choices for your pizza. The best part is the meats used come from a local butcher nearby. PS you can get fries, but they're not advertised. Go Figure. Buon appetito!!!

Unfortunately, all our pizzas were badly cooked. The edge of the pizza was raw and the cheese did not melt at all. This pizza place is a VPN Member and should meet at anytime the minimum standard requirements in order to comply with the regulation.

The four of us have returned from Napoli this past month. While there we went on a three hour walking tour of pizza and culture. So naturally we wanted to see if Forno Rosso wood burning oven pizza was comparable to true Napoli pizza. Absolutely! Wonderful crust - you won't leave any behind. The center is soft and moist, just like Pizzeria Michele, the first pizzeria in the world. The reason their pizza crust is so good is that they use only a very soft, 00 flour. The toppings were very fresh. We had the Margherita and Locale. Both great. These with a bottle of fair priced wine, brought us back to Napoli. Staff was friendly, as is the manager Giorgio who was proud of his "pizzaiolio" (pizza makers )and his wood fired oven imported from Italy. You won't be disappointed. Buon Apertito!

Tried this last night for the first time and really liked it. This is definitely a place that specializes in pizza vs. an Italian restaurant that happens to serve pizza. The crust was thin, but the edges were so tasty! We had the Locale, with sausage, mushrooms and mozzarella. It was delicious. Great flavor. Nice wine list with reasonable prices and very friendly service. We will definitely be back.

Having never had pizza in Naples, I can't honestly say whether it is the best pizza outside of Italy. But I will say that being a fan of deep dish pizza, I, personally, was not overly impressed, as it seemed just to thin for my tastes. We had the quattro formaggi pizza, which had fresh mozzarella, peccorino gran cru, gorgonzola, and pecorino romano. This was not my choice when we ordered, on which I would have chosen sausage or something akin to that. The pizzas are around 12 inches in diameter and amazingly it will feed two people adequately, especially since we ordered the caprese antipasti. Speaking of the antipasti, it was delicious with large slices of tomatoes, large slices of mozzarella cheese and a basil olive oil. The restaurant is modern in appearance and sits in the corner of a strip mall. Parking could be a challenge. They do have an outdoor patio. One of the focal points of the interior of the restaurant is its impressive red wood-burning oven. Our server, Karla, was very attentive to us, checking on us, as we decided what to order and once the food had been brought. So, everything about the restaurant was excellent, and if you love that particular style of pizza, you should be in pizza heaven.

My spouse had wanted to go here for some time, and so our visit was highly anticipated. First of all, the building is unassuming- it's in a strip mall, and so I was pleasantly surprised to find the interior décor warm, inviting and casual-chic. You could go here for date night or to share a meal with friends. Secondly, the service was excellent. We were here on a Sunday evening, and so it was busy without being jam-packed. Our server was attentive enough, meaning she answered our questions and checked on us without breathing down our necks. I appreciate when I feel attended to without being rushed through the meal, and Forno Rosso delivered on that. Finally, the food. It's excellent. Not only is it 100% authentic Neapolitan pizza, it is delicious and able to accommodate a wide range of palettes. My spouse had three meats on his, and I had a vegetarian option with delicious artichokes and red peppers. If you get dessert, I highly recommend the Limoncello Gelato.

i wish i had a photo of the great lunch we had here. It was the best Arancini i have eaten since i was in Italy. Their salad was very fresh and the pizza a bit different than i am used to in New York but very flavorful.

I loved the pizza at the first location and now they have opened a second pizzeria at 1048 W. Randolph St. in Chicago. The decor is brand new and Italian contemporary chic. The food is the mouthwatering level as the first location. I ordered the bruscetta and it was one of the best I have ever had. The Italian toast was chewy and the cheese was light and delicate which complimented the chopped tomatoes and fresh basil. The Locale pizza with homemade sausage, mushrooms and cheese was charred on the edges to perfection! And at your table in minutes from ordering! What a treat to have a location in the west loop and not have a huge bill. Have lunch there and really enjoy the Italian flavors. Have dinner there and really taste the pleasures of Italy on Randolph Street. Be sure to end your meal with their homemade tiramisu which will put a smile on your face the first spoonful. Perfect place to eat before a Bulls or Blackhawks game. Run there with your special someone and enjoy the new surroundings, easy parking and tender pizza! I am on my way!

We had an informal family get together at Forno Rosso a couple of nights ago. We went because they have authentic Neapolitan-style pizza baked in a wood oven. The service is excellent and fast. There are a lot of choices for pizza and they come either on a tomato sauce or olive oil base. The pizzas are absolutely excellent. True to style and well worth the hassle of parking in this neighborhood. The salads were also excellent. We ordered a total of 5 pizzas and everyone raved about each of them. Very highly recommended.

Every time we've been, their pizza specials have been over the top. Love the arancini. Great bar service.

The pizza is well made here and they have some varieties that you won' find in other places, e.g. their pistacchio pesto pizza is wondnerful.

Absolutely delicious Napoletan pizza and wonderful service. I got pizza Capricciosa and my husband Diavolo pizza. It was so tasty and reminded me of our trip to Italy. Just perfect! They also recommended a lovely Chianti wine and their cold antipasti was wonderful as well. If you are a fan of thin scrumptious, chewy Italian pizza with quality ingredients this is the place to go. I will be dreaming of this pizza until my next trip to Chicago.

Best or (as I should better say) the only real Italian pizza I got in United States since I moved here years ago. The dough is perfect, the ingredients are natural and Italians 100% also the cooking is at the point and for an Italian who wants a pizza abroad this is a real gift. I had it at the bar because Saturday the place was super busy as it should be for delivering this amazing quality.

I went there for the first time with my friends. Pizza is delicious, excellent service and even if it was busy everything was fast and tasted great! Thanks for server who was very nice to us and recommended us good shots for digestion!!! It was very nice and we really had a great time there.

Fast flame thin pizza (1-1/2 minutes) with your choice of toppings, wonderful wines, robust beer, and warm Chicago style neighborhood bar. Cannolis so good and delicious you will give up your diet.

Saw this on Check Please..decided to try with my husband and daughter (Vegetarian)...Nice casual place...had tried to make a reservation (5 pm on Sunday) but was advised they don't take reservations on weekends...arrived and plenty of tables open so when the waitress sat us near the front door, we asked to be seated in the back where it was warmer...we were advised that they were all reserved...strange since we were told no reservations on weekend..after we were given our menus, the Mgr came over and told us to come sit in back...don't know what happened but we did appreciate his kindness. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful in giving us some suggestions..had the calamari fritti and grilled octopus..both were a touch salty but perfectly cooked. Shared the Toscana salad (greens, pears, walnuts and gorgonzola with Balsamic viniagrette) Delicious! Plentiful choice of white and red pizzas and they were more than willing to make substitutions (for my vegetarian) My husband had the Carbonara, I had the Prosciutto & Arugula and my daughter had the rapini (without sausage) All were great...the crust was perfect..chewy, flavorful and tender..thin but not a cracker crust...prices on the pizzas (11") averaged about $15...a bit pricey but the quality was stellar..tiramasu was very good and the pistachio gelato dessert (with caramelized pistachios on top) was tasty but I think it was made ahead and then frozen so the texture was a bit off...if served fresh, this would have been a winner. .By the time we left, it was packed so we were glad we got there early...we will definitely return...great addition to the neighborhood!

Our family dined here last night after were heard about the restaurant on a local radio program. We love a good Neapolitan pizza and wanted to give this one a try. The crust is great and there are tasty combinations of toppings. Dessert pizza with Nutella and bananas was also enjoyed. Ambiance was fair - was hoping it would have more charm/character. The owner will certainly have success here.

Pizzas are comparable to what you find in Naples. As good as it gets for pizza in the USA. Rice balls are excellent, too. Since you can't keep a place this good a secret, it can get crowded and noisy during prime time but it's open until midnight.

Best Italian pizza in town. We go to Forno Rosso regularly and it never disappoints! Best pizza, amazing cocktails and fantastic desserts

This place specializes with pizza. From what I know, you cannot order even pasta there. If you ever been in Italy and enjoyed pizza over there, you will enjoy pizza here :-) The dough is just perfect! I like the taste of it and the way how they decorate the food. Most importantly, this place have real wood burning oven - that's a huge plus! The service is fast and the waiters are very kind. I have been there probably six or seven times and I like it, so I strongly recommend to stop by at this restaurant.

This is a great restaurant to bring your family. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted and treated like part of a great, big Italian family. The special wood burning oven is off to the side, from which emanates the famous Neopolitan pizzas. Haven't had a bad one yet. They're all good; red sauced, or white. We started with grilled calamari: a whole squid body grilled with garlic, oregano & lemon. I've never seen it presented this way and it was scrumptious, served with crisp, grilled bread I admit I get tired of all the pizza crust controversy. In my house, it is whatever suits the mood; sometimes it's all about the thick crust & cheezy pie, sometimes, you want it all thin and crispy and sometimes you need something else, and this pizza is something else with a most wonderful, toothsome chew and crispy outside crust. When you use fewer ingredients, you better have the best quality and Forno Rosso delivers on all counts. I had the Barese with rapini, burrata and their specially made Italian sausage. We also had Locale with the special sausage and organic mushrooms. Both were most excellent and we will most definitely come back. I am embarrassed to admit that we had dessert, too. The best cannoli with the best Italian creme filling I've ever had. If they have a little Italian (Nona) grandmother in back, I want to kiss her! Thank you, Forno Rosso!

What to say? This is THE BEST pizza in Chicago! You have to stop by and try it. The menu is really Italian and a lot of options. Love it. So happy to be Italian and to have Forno Rosso in Chicago!

Having eaten many pizzas in Napoli, this is as good as it can be in the states, a thousand miles away. The name of the restaurant Forno Rosso is based on imported Italian wood burning Red Furnace, which is the center of the restaurant and the food is cooked in it. Interior of the restaurant is minimalist Italian style decor and when full it can be noisy. The table or bar seating is available. Outdoor seating in the parking lot is not too inviting, especially since the Harlem Avenue has very heavy traffic. Now the good part. The menu is more than adequate with dozen antipastos, dozen and a half pizzas, paninis and good number of deserts. The pizzas are true Napoletano style, no skimping on toppings. Everything is prepared fresh on premises, including the bread. The highest quality imported provisions are from Italy, with some exceptions of fresh meats and vegetables which are obtained from high quality and reputation local suppliers. The service is good and efficient. There is a full bar, good vine list and some draft beers. It fits well the restaurant and food. This is a "local" neighborhood restaurant with "hands on" operation by the owner Nick Nitti. This is not the only Napoletano pizza restaurant, but it is among the top ones.

We were looking for place for dinner and came across this Italian restaurant that found to be an authentic place. Food, service, and atmosphere were lovely, it felt like we enter a trattoria in Italy. We ha pizza that came quick and was just as it should be. Crisp dow and reach topping.

The pizza at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. My person favorite is the Buffalina pizza and my boyfriend loves the Tres Carne. Also hands down the best cannoli I have ever had in my life (and I've been to Italy). The fries are delicious as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you're debating on trying this place don't wait any longer! Also the pizza reheats really well so you can always take leftovers home and enjoy the pizza again!

Wife saw this place on WTTW (local PBS) on "Check Please". Show where amateur foodies review local restaurants. It's in a neighborhood strip mall, in the land between interstates so expect a bit of a ride to get there, but it is worth the trip. The staff couldn't be nicer there's a well stocked bar and the star of the place, a wood fired pizza oven. We started with house Italian wine by the glass, very good and reasonable, house Italian salad, grilled calamari appetizer and with our small group six varieties of pizza, all excellent. As the pizza takes all of one minute to cook in the very very hot wood oven the wait-staff and helpers have to time things just so. Which they did. Other reviews go into great detail about the pizza, we agree that this is true Italian and not like anything usually found in neighborhood pizza joints. We ended with cannoli and tiramisu. I believe everything is house made, salad, dessert and pizza toppings. Nice find, thanks PBS.

People who rave about this place either have damaged sense of taste or never had good pizza or Italian food before . The only positive thing about this place is brick fire oven and that's where positives ends . Salad is blah at best with worst croutons I had in my life , dressing not really good and we had surprise in our salad - hair in it . That's disgusting . Pizza not much better. There is one golden rule when it comes to Pizza ,when you grab one slice and fold it slightly pizza should stay straight , not this pizza . You need to use two hands to eat it otherwise it will end up on plate instead your mouth . It was also burnt at edges and generally didn't taste good . To add it up this place is not cheap either .

If you know Chicago, you know we are a big pizza city. There are many varieties of pizza but Forno Rosso serves real wood fired pizza Napoletana. Don't be boring and try one of their special or menu pizzas. You will love it. The dessert pizza/Nutella pizza is amazing. Parking is a challenge and it is easy to miss this little gem, in a strip mall.

Nestled in the corner of a nondescript strip mall is one of Chicagoland's finest pizzerias. If you want the pizza that tourists seek, deep dish, go to Lou Malnatis. This is not even the tavern style thin crust most real Chicagoans prefer. Forno Rosso is Napoli style brick oven pizza and wow it is wonderful. Normally I choose my toppings to create something to my liking, but here I just point to one or two of the many specialty selections on the menu. High quality meats from local sources and combinations of fresh toppings that always satisfy. White and red sauce offerings that have never disappointed me or the many guests I have taken here. Great service and delicious food. Always a satisfying experience.

SO great to see real Italian food making it's way to Illinois. Spacca Napoli, Neo, da Nella, and now this gem. In the most out of the way & unlikely place but worth the trek. Super simple, well-chosen vini, killer pizza and even the appetizers!!! Octopus, perfectly chargrilled, to die for. The icing on the cake was a perfect doppio espresso, so good, I went for seconds (smooth and perfect crema). Will be back!!!

We ordered the Brochette for an appetizer and the red sauce Tre Carne pizza and White sauce Veneto pizza everything was perfect.

We were watching Check Please this weekend and this restaurant was highlighted. The review brought back great memories of Naples so we thought we'd try it (it was a 25-30 minute drive for us). It was well worth it. It's a friendly upscale pizza restaurant in a strip mall. We shared the caponata appetizer - it was delish. They have Italian beer on tap ($5 each). We shared 2 thin buffalina pizzas that had the most amazing crust - I thought I was back in Naples (we actually ordered one and then had to order another one). The waitstaff was very friendly. We will be back!

They really do an excellent job on the pizza - use the right ingredients and the superhot oven from Italy. We had the Rosso Diavolo - perfectly spicy sopressata and a touch of basil, and the Capriccioso - olives, artichokes, mushrooms - also excellent. They gave us a shot of limoncello gratis at the end. Great servers, too

Near o'hare airport and Oak Park. Delicious crispy edge, chewy center. Free capers and anchovies. Good grilled octopus. Friendly staff, efficient service. I love their pizza.

The staff here are incompetent and fail to meet commitments. I placed an order for delivery on their website, and it was more than 20 minutes late. Their delivery staff failed to follow simple instructions such as not to include utensils and napkins. Their delivery staff refused to answer text messages inquiring about the status. The kitchen staff failed to perform basic tasks such as cutting our pizza. The servings were small and lackluster considering the price. The pizza itself was disappointing as the crust was soggy and the basil was severely burnt. The most outrageous part of all is that when I ordered a $4 coke, I thought it would be a 2 liter bottle, maybe even a 1 liter. They didnt list the size on their website, but its $4 for a soda, and 2 liters cost less than $2 at super markets, so you have to be at least getting something. What did I receive? An 8oz bottle of coke. Not even Mexican coke with cane sugar but rather with corn syrup. In the attached photo you can see their $4 coke side by side with a bottle of Mexican coke. I never even knew that Coca Cola came in such small bottles, but to pinch pennies to deliver a mediocre experience, Forno Rosso managed to find them. Considering this exceptionally poor performance I decided to call up Forno Rosso to complain. The woman who answered the phone told me that in the restaurant they only charge $3 for an 8oz bottle of coke, as presumably providing glasses with ice is too much to ask, and that if I wanted to speak to a manager. I did as he immediately began interrupting me, proceeded to engage in personal insults, and eventually threats of violence. Even more bizarrely when I mentioned that he had my address and was more than welcome to show up to my home to fulfill his threats, he cowardly declined to so. So to summarize, if you're looking for mediocre service, delivery which takes almost twice as long as advertised, soggy pizza and grossly over priced bottles of coke, go to Forno Rosso Pizzeria. Otherwise save your money and go elsewhere, this city is full of Pizza places.

I am from Naples, and I know how a real Neapolitan pizza tastes like.. well Forno Rosso pizza is just like the one back home! The ingredients are excellent and the staff very attentive. Buon appetito!

1. Food is excellent 2. Service is excellent 3. Food comes out fast Pizza i keep getting the same exact one because it's SO GOOD! Tried desserts this last time and both were yummy (especially Spumoni). Cheese on wife's Bufalina pizza was very tasty, the Burrata was as good as we've ever had. Looking forward to rolling through all the dessert choices.

Authentic Italian pizza cooked in a wood burning oven. So many delicious pizza choices. The panzerotti was huge and baked perfectly in wood oven. Don’t overlook the paninis that are also cooked in the oven. Nice cocktail and wine list. Friendly service. The owner came to our table and gave us some of his homemade lemoncello.

Great new addition to the authentic pizza scene of Chicago. Obviously the choice of quality ingredients pays off

My wife was catching a flight out of O'Hare so I thought that I would take her to a nice dinner before her trip began. Wow was I happy that I took her here, as recent transplants from Sacramento California we miss our wood fired thin crust pizza from Pizza Rock and now we have a found a new Chicago favorite! The food, the drink the people were all incredible. Molly our server and Giorgio who I believe is the manager made us feel like we were regulars, in other words very welcome. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all. My wife said that when my son picks her up from the airport she will be taking him to Forno Rosso for dinner, I wish I was going!
Great food, just a little crowded
The food is really good, including desserts! the place is so famous that space becomes a problem, the place is small and full of tables so I guess it is harder to keep a good service when it's packed. if they could just move to a spacious place would be fantastic!
