Great Chinese food

By a f |

One of the best Chinese restaurants in this area of town. Wide selection of dishes, good service, basic ambiance.

standard choices and quality

By Larry B |

Nothing special here but decent Chinese takeout with the usual selections. Parking is tight during the busy hours.

Top chinese

By Bill J |

My wife and I went for the first time this week. The Phoenix and Dragon and Mongolian Beef were the best we had ever had, and the Hot & sour soup was also great. Unfortunately, the House Special chicken, which is supposed to be Schezwan spicy, had good flavor , but was lacking any real spice to suit my taste. Because the flavors were so good on the other dishes, we will need to try again, but this time request some real heat, which is my favorite.

Early evening dinner

By Gail T |

Spending weekend with my daughter in Atlanta to help with painting yard work. She insisted we order in from Fortune Cookie. It was great food at not to bad so price. Probably wouldn't order it to go next time as it had gotten cold. But really good food

Good, Cheap Chinese

By ATL_Jacket |

I recently visited Fortune Cookie for dinner. The food and service were both great. The hosts are extremely friendly. My soup was extremely flavorful. The strip-mall location, right off the freeway, is very convenient too. Overall, this is a great spot for Chinese.

Worst chinese food

By kc7281 |

Been here with wife for dinner. Ordered schezwan shrimp and gneral tsu's chicken. The schezwan sauce was sweeter than raw honey unlike anything we've ever seen, though it was supposed to be spicy as per the menu. Shrimp was overcooked and the dish was cold. Same with the chicken dish. It was stale, overcooked and tasteless. Sauce in both dishes seemed to be a store sauce heated in a microwave and poured over cold and deep fried meat. It was sticky like gel. This place makes panda express look like a fine dining restaurant. Will never be back.

Chin Pau Chicken Rules!

By Whatyahave |

This was our second taste of The Fortune Cooke for “takeout.” Didn’t review it initially because we didn’t dine-in. But we enjoyed the first visit’s food so much, we ordered again this evening. While we haven’t dined in yet…the vibe while waiting for the order is the folks who run this traditional Chinese-American restaurant are old pros and dedicated to co consistent flavors. Very friendly and fast takeout service. The Sesame Cold Noodle is a must order. Reminded me of some I have enjoyed in New York City. Did not like the internet recommended “Twice Cooked Pork” on first visit takeout. Weird pork flavor. However, Tso’s Chicken and Kung Pau Chicken are very good. And let me tell you the Chin-Pe Chicken rules! Sliced chicken meat lightly fried and tossed in a nice brown orange sauce. We think the next trip we will dine-in. But for fast takeout in the Lavisa-Briarcliff area, The Fortune Cookie is a winner.

Best Chinese Around

By WhitHall28 |

I miss living close to this place! It's so good that sometimes we make the trek from Roswell just to eat here. The food is always good, and the service is always great. If you're looking for good Chinese, look no further.

Dinner visit

By Ciaobelledonna |

Love, love this place! Best Chinese cuisine on this side of town! Highly recommended. Loved te egg drop soup, tried Moo Gai Pan, several shrimp dishes. My husband loves General Tso and Hunan style chicken and beef. We order their vegetable fried rice to have instead of plain rice.

One of my Favorites

By Nupester |

I love this restaurant, it is good Chinese food. Everything is fresh and the spices are delectable. Plus the prices are good and they’ve done a great job making a hospitable and pleasant decor. I began eating here as a college student more than thirty years ago and still stop by whenever I visit Atlanta. I recommend for anyone who likes Chinese food in the area, it’s the best I had in Atlanta by far plus it’s family-owned. On my most recent visits, I had chicken with black bean sauce an sze-chuan shrimp, and both were outstanding.

Dirty place. Would not go back

By Marc S |

Restaurant is dirty. I have tried several times and did not like the food. I've seen very bad inspection reports in the past. I would not go back.

Still a winner!

By Smiley1029 |

During my recent visit to Atlanta, I revisited ny old favorite Fortune Cookie. It was just as good as I had remembered. The food was hot, delicious, and most importantly tasty. I use to visit this place regularly and if I was still living here it would at the top of my list. Great food, excellent service.

My go-to Chinese for take-out

By Zippy P |

They will make it China hot for you if you ask. It's the first Chinese restaurant in Atlanta that my husband actually enjoys their style of Szechuan beef.

Very good food and service

By bigaps |

We come here occasionally and have never been disappointed. The menu is extensive and everything is prepared well. The seafood dishes always taste fresh and are not over or under-cooked. The service is attentive and friendly. Best Chinese food in this part of town and very reasonable priced. One of the best values in Atlanta.

Service could be better!!

By Lazoog |

My friends and I decided to eat here, as it was pretty close to our hotel and the service was not good. My friend's fiance found hair in her food, he did not get the wine ordered and when we asked, they were out :-(. Our waiter did not appreciate us asking questions it seems, or maybe there was a language barrier. All in all, I think if we had a better waiter our experience would have been better.

Good Chinese food

By Grannyandgrandson |

very good food at good prices. I ate at night once and at lunch. Service was very good. Food was good and the portion size was good. Waitstaff was very attentive to drink refills

Excellent Chinese Food at Reasonable Price

By ddmullis |

This is one of my favorite places to eat Chinese. I have been eating at this restuarant for the past 15 years. The food is always very tasty and cooked exactly to order. They will create specials for you if what you desire is not on the menu. The egg drop soup is out of this world. I really enjoy their cashew chicken and fried rice. The service is always very good and prices are very reasonable.

Best Sesame Chicken I've Ever Had

By Bernadette R |

I've eaten at quite alot of Chinese restaurants in my life but I must admit that the Fortune Cookie had the best Sesame Chicken I've ever had. Large pieces of succulent white meat chicken with a sweet sauce. I used to eat here years ago when I worked in the area and I used to love the Almond Chicken. I'm sure that's still as good as it once was. The lady who I picked up the food from wasn't the friendliest and didn't give me any plastic ware (or even ask) but I could put up with her because the food was so good!!

Great tasting Chinese food...

By labmark . |

When I am in town, this is one of my favorite and most reliable places to go have some takeout. Good service, clean. Sunday is buffet lunch, recommended for variety of selections. Sizzling rice soup is awesome. So are the barbecue ribs!!!...

Good

By Ichaso17 |

I am a foodie and have been introduced to real traditional Chinese food so my taste is a little skewed. Chinese food in America tends to be American Chinese food and this is one of those places. With that said my family and I find it good eats. Especially when we get home late and don't want to cook this restaurant is perfect. Their delivery service is excellent and they seem to be very nice people. I like it.

Good neighborhood Chinese

By TransATL |

Free parking, friendly waiters and well cooked food. It was great. I had broccoli with rice and my wife had a shrimp dish -- all perfect. We shared potstickers as an appetizer. This place has all the stereotypical Chinese dishes and did them well.

Great food in the north Druid Hills AREA

By Russell N |

I have been going to THE FORTUNE COOKIE for many years now. now I must say I go for lunch a lot more than dinner , but the food and service is great ! The shrimp in lobster sauce , the general tsu's chicken , the shrimp toast , pork with hot garlic sauce, and the crispy duck are just some of my favorites !f you are in the area of I 85 and North Druid Hills this is a great stop, either for a quick lunch or date nite you can't go wrong at THE FORTUNE COOKIE !

Very good Chinese food

By Dawgfan22 |

I love this place. Good chinese food for a good price. They offer white meat dishes without charging extra, which I like. Combination lunches are well portioned for a good price. Staff is friendly. I go there often.

A Fortunate Find

By NCMort |

We were a bit skeptical about dining here when we drove up, as the strip mall in which Fortune Cookie is located is being renovated. There was no way to judge the interior driving by, as the windows are obscured by thick foliage and construction walls. (Look for the ENTRANCE sign.) However, we found the fare to be very good and service excellent. Nicely (if only traditionally) decorated and clean; the menu was exactly what we one would from a typical Chinese restaurant, and quite varied. And it is probably one of the few places left in Atlanta that does not overcharge you for Chinese beer! (Only beer and wine served, though... no hard stuff.) I expect this will become a regular place to take my mother when we visit her now, as the chef in her retirement community does not do Chinese. Well worth looking for this gem.

Friendly staff, delicious food

By 308eileenk |

This seems to be a family run resturant, which i like. Very attentive and friendly all around. Our server customized a dish for me.

Never A Bad Experience

By kosron |

Although we have been somewhat regular patrons of the Fortune Cookie in the past, we no longer live in the close proximity of this restaurant. However, when special occasions demand special arrangements, we still enjoy making the trip into Atlanta to celebrate the opportunity with a wonderful Chinese cooked meal at the Fortune Cookie. We thought this Mother's Day was an appropriate time to make another visit. The food is always a favorite of ours, as is the exceptional and friendly service, this time provided by our jouvial waiter, Charlie. Parking is readily available. We were quickly seated and started the meal with a serving of their delicious egg drop soup and spring rolls, not to mention a tasty bowl of chips. We then relished in our almond chicken and rice entree. A glass of Clos du Bois chardonnay topped off the meal. Servings are quite plentiful, requiring enough to take home a portion. Of course, the Fortune Cookie Restaurant ends your dining experience with a fortune cookie to foretell your future. For us, it meant a return visit was not too far in the future. We highly recommend you give it a try.

Best Chinese We've Found In Travel

By Lady_Land_0711 |

Spring Rolls, Hot Tea, Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, and Roasted Pork Lo Mein.... WOW! We were surprised by the quality of the food and the service! Everything was beyond our expectations. If you want great Chinese food, this is definitely the place to go!! It was clean and peaceful too. Great job to the owners and staff!!

Must try restaurant

By World Trotter Here and Beyond |

I liked the ambience of this restaurant- peaceful and colorful. They served a typical Chinese menu. Servings are good for 2 people. I can’t find difference to other Chinese restaurant I’ve been too just the same thing as others.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Nikki0715 |

First time eating at this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at the prices and taste, especially coming from a strip mall restaurant. Serving sizes were plentiful and the food was good. Had plenty to take home. Will be back.

Typical Chinese Food!

By katork |

Food was ok, nothing outstanding....service was meh- waitstaff never checked on us until time for the check..their mission seems to be get them in and out quick! Busy with business crowd...parking lot is a disaster to find a place to park and to get out of the shopping center takes forever with everyone at 1 light...won't do that again!

Very good experience !

By CobaltConnection |

Our first time here. Our group came in for a Friday dinner. Plenty of parking in front and on the side. Friendly, professional service. Food is very good.

New York Style

By hsl44det1 |

Food was the best chinese I've had in ATL. The service was great but the wait staff all could use a lesson from charm school, no one smiled. They rush the food out and there is little wait. Don't worry that the restaurant is in a strip mall, the treasure is inside. Trip the Moo Shu beef, cold sesame noodles, and the Hunan Beef,(spicy) and all very good. The price was about average. I will be back.

Dinner

By Hopey016 |

I have visited this place several time, however they do not appreciate loyal customers..ordered house rice which comes with chicken, shrimp and beef...1 shrimp in the container...not acceptable. Won't be going back nor will my Co workers.

Basic Chinese Food

By Jerry L |

This place is near my house, so we've stopped in a few times. It's good, but I always leave there wishing it were just a little better. A vast menu with a lot of variety. I've settled on salt and pepper shrimp as the best dish. Friendly service and vibe. Worth a try.

Simply amazing

By Reldim |

There are many strip mall Chinese restaurants out there, but Fortune Cookie rises above the rest. Order egg rolls to go and instead of nasty mustard packets, you'll receive a small container of authentic Chinese mustard. Shrimp are large and fresh, and the hot and sour soup is divine. My favorite is the Szechuan Shrimp. A semi hot, almost barbecue like tomato sauce that is so good I could eat it every day. They've been around for at least 25 years and really do it right!

Good food

By Charles Y |

love their spicy mustard, the spring rolls and Sesame Chicken. Nice and fresh. Delivery is quick and easy.

Huge Disappointment

By Bernadette R |

I wrote a raving review in April, 2014 about how great the Sesame Chicken was. Unfortunately, the Sesame Chicken I had on Friday, July 31 was horrible. It was stringy and uneatable. My husband (who eats everything) couldn't even eat it. I was so looking forward to eating here and was horribly disappointed. It was a waste of $12 (they won't serve a lunch portion of Sesame Chicken so I paid for the dinner portion, which I wouldn't have minded if it was even half decent!) I seriously doubt I will be ever going back.

Good Chinese buffet

By David908 |

Food is good. Not a large selection, and only fortune cookies for desert. We have been there many times because of the location, a reasonable price and good food.

Almost

By Cindy W |

Nice restaurant, good service, good food - but if you are like me and only eat about half of your meal, planning to take the rest home, you will be disappointed. The servicer took my plate away and put it in the "to go" box; when I got home, I found that she had left out some of the food. Not only was I disappointed not to have a meal for later, but a little nervous about what she did with the rest of the food. If you do this, ask to put the food in the box yourself!

Favourite Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta

By Peekaboo67 |

Never missed to visit the restaurant when we visited Atlanta. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offered buffet lunch on Sunday only and there is also set menu for lunch and dinner. The food is delicious. We also ordered take out menu before and food arrived hot and well packed. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you like Chinese Food.

hot and sour soup

By Craig D |

This restaurant has great service. The hot and sour soup is the best I have tasted around Atlanta. I wished I lived closer to this restaurant. If you are looking for an above average Chinese retaurant that is not too far from downtown Atlanta. Their other Chinese food is good too.

Love this place

By Todd A |

This place is the best. Great traditional menu, good prices, eat it or take out, you won't be sorry. I love their beef and broccoli! I purposely shop at the Fresh Market so I can walk around the corner and eat here. Find this place.

Consistent neighborhood Chinese restaurant

By Lazonia |

I was in the mood for spring rolls and the Fortune Cookie does a nice job with them. We often do take out from this restaurant, and they consistently offer good Chinese (Americanized) food. The service is good and there is usually not a wait.

Great service and good, fresh food

By STinDEC |

If you are looking for where the "locals" eat, look no further. Although there are several good Chinese restaurants closer to our home, we always go to Fortune Cookie for the best service and food. Sizzling Rice Soup and Pot Stickers (fried) are really good appetizers. The Kung Pao chicken is a favorite; we always ask for white meat only. Steamed rice comes with the meals but fried rice is available on request at no additional charge. As with most Chinese restaurants, the dinner portions are large and plenty for two hungry adults.

Delicious, fresh Chinese food!

By nixj5 |

Several colleagues and myself went for an early lunch. The restaurant was crowded by the time we left. There was definitely a demand for the delicious food. The restaurant was clean and the hostess was friendly. The food tasted fresh and wasn't greasy and heavy like food at other local Chinese restaurants. I personally recommend the General Tsao's chcken. I'm definitely hoping to go back when my work schedule is less busy.

Decent

By LBW7 |

The beef dish I had was pretty good but the Kung Pao chicken was awful. The chicken was all fat and gross. If they had better quality chicken it would be a different story.

General tso chicken - hands down the best!

By Maryjayne C |

When craving Chinese....order General Tso's chicken from here. We have been ordering this dish for years and love it!!! Also, their sizzling rice soup is delicious.

Worth going out of the way for

By William T |

Fortune Cookie breaks the mold for Chinese restaurants. Which means it’s not like those places on every other corner with cheap food and bad health scores. While it’s not gourmet, the atmosphere and quality of food are a step above most Chinese restaurants. So is the service which is attentive and caring. On Sunday noon they offer a great buffet where the food is prepared in small batches and kept fresh. Two appetizers, two soups, two types of rice along with green beans, a low mein, chicken wings and six or seven entrée items are offered. My favorites are sesame chicken, beef with mushroom and sweet and sour chicken. Hands down they serve my favorite hot and sour soup in the city. You can also order from the menu on Sunday if you prefer. Either way you’ll get delicious food freshly prepared. Fortune Cookie is worth going out of the way for.

Meh

By norar906 |

The food is good but the cashier and staff are cold. They dont remember repeat customers (i was one). She actually embarrassed a customer at the cash register. The customer mentioned the cashiers parents, asked about her son and and the cashier said "you have me mixed up with my sister." RUDE They lack concern for their customers. A restaurant is not just about food.

Ordered Out was great...

By W763JWpamelar |

We stayed in and ordered out with a Chun Fun and Shrimp with lobster sauce dinner. The order was taken professionally and delivered as promised. Both tasted wonderful and was more than enough for us.

Consistently good food

By T D |

Very good food and excellent service. I have been going to this place for 20yrs. Always a good meal. Alice (the owner) always remembers me and asks how my wife is.

Good Service, Average Food

By Illinois_John |

Went here for dinner with other adult family members. I got the pork egg rolls and they were disappointing. They did not have much flavor to them. The chicken and asparagus dinner was good, but a little bland. I really liked that there was an option with asparagus. The sizzling rice soup looked really good and was enjoyed by my sister and sister-in-law. The seafood bowl was enjoyed by my sister and the serving was very plentiful. Overall, the serving sizes were such that they could be shared. Our service was excellent.

Twice Cooked Pork!

By Mary T |

This restauramt is actually across the street from where we work so it's always a great "to go" place. Service is great. If you arrive between noon and one oclock you may have to wait a few minutes for a table. But since the wait staff and cashier are efficient the wait is never long and well worth it. Great bargain for lunch. It inclyudes soup and eggroll. My favorite otem at lunch is the orange chicken. Dinner: TWICE COOKED PORK. vERY YUMMY.

Great taste mediocre facility

By LiveLaughLove |

I was shocked, this place has great food, quality reusable to go containers. Very good Chinese food. Upon entry I didn't expect the food to be so uncle prepared because the facilities don't look that great. Great taste!

Excellent hidden gem

By SeanPsyD |

Wow, were we surprised. Being in a strip mall we thought the food would be cheap buffet or take out style. Instead, this was a nice restaurant. It had well placed fish tanks for decor and to entertain the kids. The food is excellent. We had many dishes over previous 4 visits and all were excellent. In regards to other review about Sczewan shrimp, this dish was great, but you must like Mandarin style, with a red sauce that is sweet and spicy. My wife has a hard time finding the dish prepared in this fashion and loves it. Most places use Brown sauce and so that is why this dish is different. Anyway, the spring rolls are excellent, soups are great, and every dish is yummy. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Food not as good as in the past trips

By Gagal |

Wow, the sesame chicken was like chewing tripe..something I have not done in quite a few years!! Wonton soup had great wontons but broth was like warm dish water...YUK! Sweet and sour pork would have been better had we known that the sauce was in a separate container!! Without it...awful! Pork fried rice was very good. Guess it is time to find another chinese restaurant in Atlanta.

YUM!!!!

By Gagal |

Three of us dined here and all was GOOD!! We each ordered a separate dish and two of us had soup. I had wonton which was great and my boyfriend had hot 'n sour which he loved. We all shared mo shu pork, triple bird's nest and orange chicken. Each dish was prepared perfectly!

The best Hot and Sour Soup

By Mary T |

A group of us were there to celebrate Christmas and my birthday. Everything we had was excellent. Pot Stickers, Hot and sour Soup, Phoenix Dragon, Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce (my favorite) Mu Shoo Pork and Beef and now Peas. I usually judge a restaurant by how well they do soups. This was probably the best Hot and Sour Soup I have had. Pot Stickere were fantastic. Service was excellent. Our water glasses were constantly being refilled. We had an excellent celebration.

Fresh Cooked Food

By travelwriter52 |

Now it may be partly because there were not a lot of people there. Up till recently, they were only open for take out I am told. We got the sesame chicken and two pork egg rolls. Delicious and fresh. The fried chicken was crunchy but not hard. I will go back.

Good Chinese Food and Service

By ddmullis |

I have been eating at Fortune Cookie for the past 20 years. They always have good food, great service and decent but not cheap prices. The egg drop soup is excellent. The shredded chicken with fried rice is very tasty as well

Great Food!

By Ashley V |

I've frequented a handful of Chinese restaurants around Emory, and Fortune Cookie has always been the best. Try the House Special Beef - truly amazing.

Quality of food not so good

By Bernadette R |

I have a previous review here from April, 2015 where I loved the Sesame Chicken. I was back in the area so I couldn't wait to try it again. What a disappointment. The chicken was stringy and inedible. I had my husband try it (he's not picky like me) and even he couldn't eat it. The chicken was definately old. There are too many other Chinese restaurants in Atlanta with fresh food, I will not be back to the Fortune Cookie.

Great lunch

By StevenHScher |

My wife & I stopped for lunch. They have a nice selection of lunch specials on the menu. I had the shrimp egg fu yung ($9.50). It was served with a spring roll, choice of soup, & choice of rice. They also bring homemade crispy noodles to the table. They were delicious. The wonton soup was good, it could have been served hotter, it was just warm. The spring roll was okay. The shrimp egg fu yung was excellent. It was nice & hot with large shrimp, & the brown sauce was excellent. My wife had the chicken with Chinese vegetables ($7.95). It 2as also served with the above selections which she enjoyed as well. The servers were very friendly & the food was served quickly. Great lunch stop.

Probably the Best Americanized Chinese Joint in Atlanta

By ATLconsultant |

Lo, have I been searching for Chinese food in Atlanta beyond the serviceable crap that gets slopped out at the casual city joint. Upon reviews, we stopped in here for lunch. Here we ordered: 1. Gen. Tso's Chicken- lunch 2. Beef lo mein - lunch 3. Kung Pao Chicken - lunch 4. Twice Cooked Pork - dinner portion as wasn't on lunch menu Here is the skinny: Gen. Tso's was delicious. Some of the best I've had in Atlanta. Beef lo mein - also some of the best I've had in Atlanta. They get that charred/grilled effect on the noodles that I crave so much but rarely do Chinese restaurants here in the ATL ever do. Kung Pao chicken - the star of the group. Insanely delicious. Garden mushrooms are one of my 2 least favorite foods in the world (i.e. they're one of 2 food items I don't particularly like to eat) and this dish is oddly full of them (weird for KPC). I was a little dismayed at first. But then I tried a bite of my friend's and was blown away. I could have licked his entire plate clean. Wow. Crab Rangoons: also some of the best in the ATL. Delicious white onions abounded and cheese was plentiful and creamy. The one failure of the lunch was the twice cooked pork. Easily one of the worst I've ever tried. Thankfully, not my dish for lunch! It was sad looking, with just cabbage in a blackish oil with a smattering of blackened carrots spinning about. It looked dreadful. Then I tasted it: not dreadful, but not good either. It was our fault though. We ordered it off the dinner menu and I bet the lunch chefs are only trained to cook the lunch items. We should have stuck with the lunch menu. Now, keep in mind this is Americanized Chinese. All dishes had a tad more sugar in them than most Chinese places around. But, the flavors were all very spot on, and sometimes I really like Americanized Chinese, so bravo. The staff was very friendly, too. The hostess seemed pleased to welcome us and she was very very friendly too. Atmosphere was standard strip mall chinese, with the booths and the free standing tables with padded chairs. Flat glass waterfall, free standing in corner. I'd definitely recommend it. But thsi place doesn't need my recommendation. It was quite packed this Friday for lunch.

Great Chinese Cuisine

By sarlsar |

I've been going to the Fortune Cookie restaurant for a couple of decades. The quality of their Chinese food is great. I have never been disappointed. Whether dining in of having it delivered to me, it is always satisfying.

Mostly Good

By Samiya7 |

We stopped in for a late meal and had won ton soup (would have been good but it was served barely lukewarm - we were too hungry to send it back), fried rice, shrimp in lobster sauce and sweet and sour chicken. Other than the cold soup, the food was good.

Best Chinese Restaurant in Atlanta

By cilantro49 |

Okay, I have been enjoying this place for years and I can say that their food is consistently delicious, fresh, flavorful and never oily as many Chinese restaurants can be. Another thing that I love is when you order chicken, they use lean white meat. They also get bonus points for giving fresh orange slices and of course, fortune cookies with the check.

Great Food

By Debora E |

I went for the first time after passing this place so many times on the way home. I went during lunch. Nice steady crowd but my guest and I were seated immediately. Service was prompt and efficient. The waitstaff very pleasant. 'the food was absolutely great! I love this place. Highly recommended.

Was it worth the wait?

By AI A |

We (2) arrived at 745 and was amongst chaos hoping the server will remember the order of our arrival for seating . We were finally seated at 830 pm. The customer service and cleanliness is shameful. I hope the food is excellent, because I can't even settle for good . Oh here comes my food - quick, but the table to right has been dirty since my seating . I would be hard pressed to return. I came here off of a review here.

Nicest people in the world

By TCairl |

This is one of the most consistent restaurants I've ever been to. The staff is friendly and they have a wide variety of dishes. My favorites are the lamb and the pan-fried noodles. They have great soups as well.

BAR NONE - The Best Chinese Restaurant in U.S.

By Susan C |

You can smell a mixture of Mongolian Beef and Garlic Chicken before you park your car. Walking into Fortune Cookie on North Druid Hills Road is like coming home. Alice, the owner, greets you warmly and makes you feel at home. The décor is warm, rich and inviting with soothing fish tanks and delicious smells. It is hard to say which are my favorite dishes. To be honest, I have never had anything sort of a taste feast: sizzling rice soup, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, crab ragoon, potstickers, egg rolls, garlic chicken, Double Wonder (chicken and shrimp, General Tsao's chicken, Mongolian beef, any shrimp dish, egg fu wong, lo mein. Again, I have eaten at Fortune Cookie since 2006 and even though I had been in Montana years, Alice and her sister and husband recognized me right away even though I had dropped almost 40 pounds with my terminal cervical cancer. Oh, also, their Plum wine is just right - not too sweet and a very generous serving. One is enough. I have never had room for dessert so I cannot speak to those. The portions at Fortune Cookie are generous and quite affordable. Don't miss it. It is food and hospitality for your soul not just your tummy and tastebuds. Thank you, Alice, for an excellent, welcoming restaurant. What a gem! Susan C.

A very good lunch at a very good price

By Joe58156 |

Typical Chinese fair and a nice quiet restaurant. The food was quite good, and lunch for 2 (no drinks) was $13. (OK, we split an order--but it was enough to fill us up). I like this place!

Excellent Chinese Food

After 20 years this continues to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in Atlanta. The spicy chicken, egg drop soup and spring rolls are all outstanding The service is always top notch and the prices are reasonable

Best Chinese Food in Atlanta

By GT2_Law |

My family has been going to Fortune Cookie for over a decade. The owner is a great person. She always makes sure our dining experience is excellent. The food is great and piping hot and the service is excellent. My youngeer daughter has certain food allergies. The owner and the servers make sure that my duaghter's meals are prepared a certain way so that she does not have an allergic reaction. They even remember our orders so that we do not have to re-state everything. This is the best American style Chinese restaurant in Atlanta. I do not even think any other place comes close. This restaurant reminds me of the Chinese restaurants in NY. We'll continue going to Fortune Cookie as long as it is around.

Dinner with Friends

By JW1ATL |

Great food and a good selection from the menu. Nice ambiance and would be a great location for a light date

Okay take out

By Jerry_Bagnell |

Quantity was excellent. Quality was average. BBQ spare ribs were inconsistent. Two were very meaty. Two were had very little meat on the bone. Sweet and sour pork was crispy and had enough sauce for twice the fried pork and vegetables. This wasn't the best Chinese food we've had but it was acceptable for take out.

Sunday lunch buffet

By kelseycolt |

My husband and I stopped into Fortune Cookie for Sunday lunch and we were very impressed. We both had the buffet and the food was hot and delicious with great vegetarian options. My favorites included the vegetable lo mein, bean curd tofu and hot and sour soup. The service was also quick and friendly. We will definitely be back!

My review is not going to be a super stellar one, but that's only because I'm not that much of a huge Chinese food fan, and I went there to celebrate a co-workers b-day, because it is her favorite Chinese restaurant. We went for lunch and for only $7.50 you got a generation portion of whatever main dish you ordered plus a soup of your choice, as well as a spring roll and wonton on the side (they also bring fried wonton strips out while you're waiting on your food, that taste kinda like tortilla chips, only WAY better, but they are on a little greasy, but so are a lot of things that taste great). What I also appreciated was the fact that they made everything to you specifications, I asked if my veggies and chicken could be steamed instead of stir-fried, and it was no problem, and another gal asked if they could make one of their

Fortune Cookie is a pleasant enough restaurant in a shopping center at the busy intersection of Briarcliff Road and N. Druid Hills Road. The room was attractive, service was pleasant and the value was good. The food was Just OK. We had a "Dinner for One," with egg drop soup, moo goo gai pan and sweet and sour pork. We also had scallops with pea pods. The amount of food was more than ample and we took home the surplus for next day's lunch.

Great place to bring family for delicious food!

Friendly staff who greet and seat you immediately. Atmosphere very nice with a large fish tank in middle of room. Kids love this site! Food was very tasty. Sweet & sour soup was awesome. Shrimp and vegetables platter was wonderful!

I have eaten food all over the world and this is still the best place for Orange beef! Staff is very attentive.

I finally found my Chinese takeout place!

I came here after a friend posted a recommendation for here on Facebook and decided to get some takeout for dinner. We loved everything we tried -- we ordered the chicken and vegetable dish, the wife loved that it came with nicely braised slices of chicken breast and not dark meat. I enjoyed the beef with hot garlic sauce -- here also the beef was nicely done. If anything, I agree with other TripAdvisor reviews that the sauces skew on the slightly sweet side, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. We also tried the vegetable lo mein and the noodles were wonderful with lots of crunchy vegetables. Definitely a place I'll return to in the future!

Beef so tender...

This is a restaurant that I frequented often when I worked just down the street. Now that I have retired I visit less often but am always greeted by a warm hello and they never forget my name! Amazing. This evening I was having dinner with three friends. Three of us arrived promptly at 6:00 but our fourth got caught up in Atlantas famous traffic grid and didn't arrive to almost 6:30. The wait staff didn't seem fazed. He just kept our water and tea coming as we waited to order. We did order soup while waiting. The Hot and Sour soup was and always is good! My friend Charlie and I often measure a Chinese restaurant by how well they do the hot and sour soup. More times then not we are disappointed. But the Fortune Cookie always has soon that is flavorful and hot! Well, we ordered a variety of dishes once our table had the fourth person in place. We had Chicken and Green Beans, Beef and Snow Peas Pork White Cucumber (amazing) and General Tsu's Chicken. All were wonderful and generous in portion size. One of the BEST parts of the meal is that fragrant flavorful slice of orange that comes with the fortune cookie......hope they never stop. Am looking forward to my next visit........

Sunday buffet

a cut above shopping center Chinese, was $14.95 and worth it.. its not a shove it all buffet, but several “american chinese” traditional dishes executed very well, in particular the vegetables in everything I tried. why not five? well, i would have given 4.5, my soda didn’t taste right, two different ones, everything was high salt, and no egg/spring rolls available on buffet, would like to have been at least offered, at additional price. These are MINOR issues, definitely worth it.
