Yummy Brunch & More!! Delish!

By ShellsWellsTX |

What an awesome place! Our food was delicious as well as the drinks/spirits! We were there in time to have the brunch and/or full lunch menu. The Brussels sprouts were divine, totally worth ordering! Service was super friendly and prompt, couldn’t ask for anything more. Will be returning and highly recommend a visit.

Best Grilled Cheese I've had in Long Time!

By ReseAnne |

Just went for lunch for the first time and this will definitely be a new place on my list of "go to" restaurants. I had the Lunch Box - half grilled cheese with chicken tortilla soup (several other combinations) and it was one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had. And half is PLENTY - I couldn't have eaten a whole size one. Lots of great options on the menu and I loved the decor. Great patio area as well.

pleasant atmosphere, delicious food

By 581ai |

My friend and I enjoyed a delightful lunch today. The service was excellent (server Abby). My friend had the lunch box and lemonade and I had the Chicken Mojo sandwich. It's worth stopping at this restaurant instead of just driving by. It great that you can make reservations on Open Table. I wish there were a better selection of vegetarian options.

Less than average Brunch

By LMixon83 |

Tried the weekend brunch here & have to say I won't be going back. Way overpriced for what is available and considering the several other breakfast buffets in the area I won't be going back. The food wasn't bad, the service was average, but for the price of the buffet I expected a lot more. Not worth the brunch price here, just my $.02 sorry

Awesome atmosphere

By dpjp88 |

Nice tavern with good food and beverages! We went to Sunday brunch. The service was outstanding! The chip trio was delicious.

Awesome Kobe burger!

By lauriro |

Both of us had the Kobe beef burger and loved every single bite of it! This burger has so much flavor & the toppings were very fresh. Every ingredient on this burger stood out, including the bun. They have very good beers on draft there and are very generous about handing out samples. In fact, because they did give us samples, we both ended up ordering a different beer than we would've ordinarily. Normally neither of us likes Hefeweissen but there's was great! This burger cost $14 but it was really worth it. I will definitely go back...can't wait to try one of the fish dishes.

Warm

By pascal F |

Good restaurant with pleasant waiter Large salad and soft kick with small homemade fries I think Good beer But above all a attentive waiter

Why would you limit your menu to certain days and times?

By travelinterest |

I have ate here before. The Margarita flatbread was to die for. Had a craving for it, braved a really rainy day only to be told, "Sorry that is only available Monday to Friday during Happy hour". What a short sighted dumb policy. I won't be back!

Very attractive place...

By Sunshyne_Day |

We walked in and thought the place was really beautiful inside. Can't say we enjoyed the food much. I had Blue Cornmeal Catfish - over cooked to the point it curled up. My husband had a Chicken Cheesesteak - he has had them before with shredded chicken. This had huge chunks of that kept falling out of the bun. Anyway, we probably won't go back.

Great restaurant, but disappointing oysters

By TexasCeCe08 |

We have been eating at Foxhole for over a year and usually have a decent experience. I have celebrated a birthday and a company event here. The food is always good and they have very unique offerings. The one disappointment I had recently - we ordered the chef's selection dozen oyster appetizer and they were incredibly small - 4 were so small that I wasn't sure there was an oyster in the shell - I did not say anything at the time, but when the bill came and I saw the $48 total - I was incredibly disappointed. Had we not already eaten them, I would have said something earlier. Might encourage the staff to really look at what is being served and think - would you be ok spending this on what is going to the table? No issue spending $$ on quality but will never order that here again. That said, everything else here is great. I would continue to go back.

A Cuinary Sports Bar

By rshwartz |

Found this place by chance, and we were very pleasantly surprised! Funky spot with lots of TVs showing sporting events but a menu that has some interesting, and well prepared items. We ordered a few of their small plates and shared. The beef rib sliders were tender and delicious; the trio of hummus with rown sugar chips and veggies yummy, and the lobster mac n' cheese was greamy and rich!

After Thanksgiving Treat

By Brenda W |

Celebrated Thanksgiving in Dallas and drove back to Austin with my brother and his wife. They had eaten at the Foxhole for lunch and thought the food and service was amazing; they were right! Even though it was a stormy night, I was in for a treat; I ordered the crab cakes and a house salad, the crab cakes were fresh and seasoned to perfection. My sister-in-law ordered the salmon, again, perfect; my brother ordered a vegan burger I think. All and all, the food was awesome and our waiter was super attentive. This is a perfect place for a romantic dinner or first date night.

Great GastroPub

By treborz64 |

Came here for a lunch date with my honey. Did a little research and the high ratings were well deserved. My wife had the Cubano sandwich and I had the Club Sandwich. They were not your run of the mill menu items. They were hand crafted with excellent ingredients and nicely blended dressings. I call this a gastro pub because it is an upscale bar and grill with tasty menu items, excellent service, and an nice atmosphere. It's on the pricey side for lunch with $12-16 sandwiches but worth it if you want something better than the usual lunch spot.

Wide variety of food/prices hamburgers to fine steaks

By TLBview |

We had a business dinner here. Some had burgers, redfish (probably the best dish) and ribeyes/Filet (higher price point) The service was great. I had the “chicken” which was service uniquely with a demi glaze, a type of whole okra (not my favorite). But the Brussels sprouts appetizer (although I normally don’t eat them) were awesome!

What a great place

By Jeff D |

First time here was last night. We went again. Yes, back-to-back. Great server (Nikki). She was just the best you can ever hope to have. My wife was a high end restaurant server for many years and she was also impressed by Nikki. Great menu that changes with the seasons (from what I understand). If I were to come here a third night in a row, I'd have the burger. It keeps coming by me and it looks and smells great. Local brew selection. In a town with a lot of great restaurants, this one is a gem!

A Nice Addition to The Area

By Jesse J |

My wife and I watched the progress as Benigans was renovated and emerged as The Foxhole. We dropped in today for a beer and appetizer to check it out. It's a great atmosphere, very relaxed. The staff is friendly and attentive. I had the Tavern Taco which I highly recommend- it's a meal and it's full of delicious ingredients as well as some spicey elements. The wife had the Hamburger Flatbread which is very rich and full of flavor. It was so large that she had to take some of it home.

Great Food & Good Music

By Jim C |

I have done the Sunday brunch here two times and it is my go to place on Sunday's. The are known for a very interesting menu featuring local products and they usually have a duo or trio playing to make the time even more enjoyable

Good food but service needs improvement.

By betty b |

So the night started off bad as the hostess was flat out rude. We were expecting a somewhat large party (8 people) and a few of us arrived very early (4:30PM). She refused to seat anyone until the majority of our party was there. I understand that but the restaurant was not even 1/10 full and the missed out on revenue while we waited as no one offered to even as much as get us a beverage while we waited. Once our table was ready the rude hostess pointed toward our table and said "there!". Trying to stay open minded we continued on with our plans. The waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks on the menu. He gets an A+ in my book. The specials such as the venison chili were very good as well as the trio of spreads, grilled chicken dinner entrée, calamari and deserts. One draw back is that no one ever came to help clear dishes as we finished appetizers, entrees, drinks etc so things really started to pile up. The happy hour prices and choices are good but honestly I would not go out of my way to go to this place. If you are in the North Austin area near Lakeline mall check it out. Otherwise don't go out of your way as it is not worth the drive.

Good food and wide variety

By runner409 |

The "culinary" in the name is not mistaken- this restaurant serves excellent and unusual food in a tavern atmosphere. Very friendly service. Full bar with imaginative cocktail menu and a variety of draft beers as well as wines. Good burgers (various meat and vegetarian choices) and salads, with a wide variety of other options. The outside patio is pleasant, but could be more open and light. Inside, a bar and tables.

Delightful

By ReenTS |

Late lunch or early dinner. Lovely waitress gave me a free dessert - even though I had a coupon from another restaurant. So nice. A glass of champagne topped off this great early dinner. I had a business lunch/networking event here last week & wanted to check it out on my own. Previously, I thought it was a sports bar, but found it to be very nice, great service and great food. I will add this one to my list of 'must-go" places locally.

Cool discovery

By Obb1664 |

Stumbled in here unintentionally and enjoyed the find. Met by a hip and inviting dining room, quite upscale and approaching hill country urban chic. Friendly and attentive bar staff made us feel welcome without pretense, and helped us navigate the first visit. Nice beer and wine list with ample signature cocktails-and a solid margarita. We didnt dine, but enjoyed a clever calamari dish, one of several “shared plates” on offer. It was excellent, not greasy but light and crispy with a tuscan aioli that did not disappoint. Not cheap, but manageable. Cant wait to go back-perfect for out of town guests or a weekly respite. Offers a sunday jazz brunch that we must try.

Meet here for family dinner. Meals were great. Bacon rapped large shrimp and grits were great

By Dan D |

Bacon wrapped shrimp with grits was really good. Shrimp were large and great flavor. 3 of 5 people ordered the shrimp and all agrred this meal was very good.

Good

By Nancy L |

Was not sure because of curb appeal but glad I went. Super friendly service. The steak salad was very tasty. Great steak and yummy fried green tomatoes. Full bar.

Authentic Food for Northwest Austin

By Delia G |

This is a great restaurant for this part of town where there are a lot of chain restaurants. There food is very good and authentic. We found something great to our new home and I'm happy. I've ordered several food items and they were all great. We will definitely be returning. Great place for happy hour as well.

Birthday Sunday Brunch Bonanza

By Birdinhandtwo |

We took my husband out for a birthday lunch and chose Foxhole based in its reviews and location in Cedar Park. The Louisiana Skillet was a home run with my crawfish and horseradish-loving hubby. Our college-age daughter was delighted with the vegetable scramble and its unique flavors. I had the smoky-spicy delicious quail with a side Caesar salad. Yum! This gastro-pub has great ambiance with a modern industrial rustic decor and Sunday four-piece jazz band (classical guitar, tenor saxophone, violin, and string bass). We LOVED the music--such a cool vibe! Our server was both informative and attentive--couldn't have asked for better answers to our menu and portion questions. With the eclectic menu, who wouldn't have questions? We will happily return for more samplings of this unique bistro menu and the live music.

Great Food - Large Menu Variety

By David M |

I arrived with not a large appetite and found the menu to have quite a variety of meal sizes. Appetizers, tapas sized portions, full meals, awesome desserts. The wine list had one of the best wines that I have ever tasted. Good service and a nice neighborhood atmosphere. I would readily return.

99%

By downtownbrown1 |

This place is great. Now while no one can be 100% perfect and I have been slightly let down on a couple of visits, they normally beat my expectations. They have a great social hour and an amazing brunch. Try a foxy mule if you like a bit of spice and for dessert......try the chocolate godiva cake...This chef owned place is a gem.

I will be back !!

By Melanie D |

So I've lived near this restaurant and driven past it for over a year. By the name I swear I thought it was a strip club but boy was I wrong. Absolutely delicious dinner, superb service by Caleb and the martini? Perfection. High marks for the oysters and apple pie/cobbler dessert. Decor hip and lovely but best of all the noise level was low and actually allowed for good conversation

Great place!

By SuperVillainTX |

Fantastic atmosphere. Great service. Great food, and great drinks! What more do you need? Well, less kids. Don’t understand parents that insist on bringing their brats to a bar. Definitely an Austin thing. Anyway, this place is great and I absolutely love the Sunday brunch entertainment—The Strawberry Piranhas.

For Younger Patrons

By MaggieLin0939 |

The patrons of Foxhole were almost exclusively in their 20s and 30s, so, no surprise, the place was really noisy. Then a song (?) started over the loud speaker and I heard thump, thump, THUMP, thump, thump, THUMP all during my dinner. My husband had tortilla soup and the redfish (generous portion), which he said was all very good. I ordered a seafood salad, which was a big mistake. There was very little seafood and a whole lot of arugula and other greens. Paltry. The seafood wasn't even particularly tasty. I won't go back, but obviously others like it more than I did because it was very crowded on a Friday evening at 6:45 pm. Long wait to be seated.

Off to a good start

By FrankVZ8521 |

We tried Foxhole for the first time a few nights ago with some friends. Atmosphere is nice with a modern decor, found the table a bit small for 4 but we managed. Drinks were served quickly and they have good selection of local beers and provided us with small samples on request. Calamari was good but somewhat under cooked, and sauce was a bit too spicy. I ordered the salmon with couscous and a mustard sauce which I found to be too strong, and the salmon was bit overcooked even though it was supposed to be medium. My wife has the mussels with a delicious sauce, we tried to get some bread so we could savor the sauce some more but they did not have, but the waitress was nice enough to bring us some large croutons. Our friends tried the fillet and the rib eye, and said they were very good but a bit overpriced. For dessert we tried the Godiva chocolate cake which was very good, although the center was a bit cold. Overall the food was good, service was terrific, and atmosphere was nice. There were still plenty of delicious things on the menu we want to try so we will definitely come back and try it again. They have a live band on Fridays and Saturdays, but we were unable to stick around, but plan to next time. Nice restaurant worth trying.

Great spot for a burger and a beer

By JDH_AustinTx |

We frequently go to Foxhole when we are in the mood for a tasty, cooked-to-order burger. We love the “slap” fries and a 512 Pecan Porter with our burgers. We went once for brunch and we not as impressed. But have returned since for burgers!

Not worth the money

By Karen D |

Below Average food, typical sports bar atmosphere, poor service. Really should have gotten their act together before opening

Casual dinner in the 'hood

By MarkandKathyW |

As always the food was great. We had the lamb bourguignon and it was outstanding. Bog enough we should have shared. Sat outside, one of the benefits of central Texas in the fall.

went for lunch - both of us said "yum" with the first and last bite!!!

By KimRinger111 |

We went for lunch last week and it is a very nice place. My friend had the salmon and I had the broiled catfish over dirty rice. Both were totally delicious. Excited to go back and try some other things soon!

Might go back, but won't hurry.

By Stacy J |

Had dinner at Foxhole with my husband last night. My review is a bit mixed. First of all, it doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a high end farm to table restaurant with dishes as high as $32 or is it a neighborhood bar? If I'm paying that much for a meal, I don't want to watch a basketball game. Drinks are pricey too for a neighborhood bar, more reasonable during their "social hour". My husband ordered the raw oysters which he felt were good, but really small. It was disappointing that a few were even served, someone in the kitchen should have seen that these were unacceptable. Positives were the onion rings... Not as described on the menu, nothing Lacey about them, but they were excellent. Beef Carpaccio also was excellent. Flatbread off the social menu was meh, too salty. Might go back if there is a game I want to watch, but only during social hour so prices are more reasonable.

Combined Birthday Dinner

By Juny A |

My son-in-law and I had an excellent combined birthday dinner. Service was great. Food was excellent. Had deviled eggs and pretzel bites with cheese for appetizers. Dinner was great: bacon wrapped shrimp (ummmmm good), venison meatloaf, salmon and lobster mac and cheese. Chocolate caramel cake for dessert (shared) was awesome.

Brunch

By Don H |

Belgium waffles were fantastic. The buffet was good. The last time we were here I think was better . You will like the band they have.

Great Burger

By Scott M |

My wife wanted a burger for Mother's Day which was highly unusual since this is not her normal diet. We were told about the Kobe Burger from friends and it didn't disappoint. Grilled to order, comes loaded with tons of garnishes along with condiments in the side. Sits inside a jalapeño bun that's out of this world. Of course I had one too! The Burger came with large cut fries that too were out of this world! Our server, Eric, was very friendly and very accommodating with taking care of our every needs and carried on a nice conversation though didn't dominate the experience. It's close by to our home and will certainly return.

Excellent

By mr_larry_smith |

The Foxhole offers excellent food. The venue is surprisingly high end considering the location. Service was very good. Overall we liked the food the highlight. I will be back.

Friday Evening

By Connie P |

Went for a family dinner with daughters family. We all had different things and were all pleased. Service was great.

Good Food but service problems - especially lunch

By Doegurl |

The food is good but a little pricey. I understand that with Farm-to-Table concepts this usually holds true and I don't mind paying the prices because the food in the end is good. The bad part is how long it takes for service and the food-to-table concept. 45+ minutes to get lunch to the table is too long. Nothing extravagant ordered (sandwiches) and it still took 45 minutes to get our food. 10 of those minutes were just waiting for waitstaff to come to our table. It was not very busy there. In the evening I wouldn't care but c'mon guys we need to get the service and food to the table much quicker during lunch time. I would like to continue going there but not unless/until the service and wait time during lunch gets better. One other thing, we were waiting to be seated (no one else there) the hostess finally came out grabbed the menus to seat us. We started walking to sit and she turned around to run back and answer the phone. To me that is just rude and wrong to the customer being brought to the table.

Quaint and a nice change

By Mary L |

Loved this gem on 183N. My first time visiting was well worth the little extra I spent on dinner and drinks. Very impressed with the service!

Exceptional brunch.

By Kathy |

We both had skillets, the farmers' market and meatatarian. Both were tasty, unique combinations of fresh ingredients. Although I am not adventurous in trying different types of meat, this restaurant offers wild boar sausage and a venison dish. The famer's breakfast is light but filling. It's a little on the pricey side, Mimosas eight dollars and brunch skillets thirteen and up. Had a great server, Pete, who was attentive without hovering. Also had a great sense of humor. Great place for couples and friends.

Excellent

By Eric M |

Only detraction would be the price. We checked out the menu though so knew the prices before we went. The food was good and worth the price point. If you want a deal go to chilis. It's not meant to be Buffalo Wild Wings. It's a high end sports bar. We have similar places in California. They should brew their own beer. Anyway our server Brian was good. Very attentive. Young but knew the menu well. I had the tenderloin and my companion had the redfish. Very good. Would return.

Great meal

By Jen_austex |

Great service! Great food! Our only complaint was a number of small shrieking kids. But no accounting for inconsiderate parents.

Varied menu with delightful taste combinations

By Sheilah O |

Dinner with a charming water, Jeremy, who made us feel welcomed and not hurried. Menu changes seasonally and offers small plates and entrees - all Intriguing with tantalizing taste combinations. The Texas redfish, pork chop and airline chicken were all praised and delicious as were the grilled Brussels sprouts, mushroom risotto and sweet potatoes sides (creamed corn not so much). The cheese board appetizer easily satisfied 4 people. The others have also come for brunch and highly recommended it.

Not sure if that’s the way they cook it

By WOWFactorNeeded |

We ate at this restaurant because a friend of ours recommended this place. I ordered Chicken a la brasa and while The rice is good, i think the chicken is raw and the blood is coming out everytime i slice it. Not sure if that’s the way they cook it but since this is my first time dining at this restaurant, i can’t tell but for it’s too raw for my likings. Another thing, my friend who dine with us said that it’s unusal to have this long wait for the food. I think the chocolate cake is good but it’s too rich that i think it’s a brownie dough. Our server is apologetic and handled the situation very well which makes our dining experience okay. I’ll come back for sure to give this place a chance. i think we experienced a minor hiccup.

Great selection, good drinks

By Banditdogaustin |

Been there a few times now since it's opened, and have been pleased most of the time. One meal I did not really like, but the waiter called over the manager and I described the problem (nothing wrong with the dish, just think it could have been greatly improved upon). They offered it for free, I declined. It was the concern for our satisfaction that impressed me.

Food never disappoints

By gcooper13 |

We started coming here based on brunch and have expanded to lunch and dinner. All breakfast items are great and favorite dinner items include brussel sprouts appetizer, Kobe burger, seafood,... the waitstaff is attentive, menu savvy and very friendly. All in all a locally owned gem in North Austin.

Saturday Brunch

By Mike W |

What a great place for brunch. Nice variety of dishes. Several egg dishes. My migas were delicious. Great service. Good location. Easy in sndoug

Interesting and eclectic menu--average execution

By Jack P |

It was the evening before Thanksgiving and we stopped here after wondering for so long what it was like. I split a dozen oysters with my daughter and they were below average and difficult to finish. I ordered a specialty burger and it was good but my wife and daughter did not like their entrees at all....my wife had an appetizer of potato leek soup which was good. Their bar was stumped on how to make a mai tai or a hurricane which surprised me a bit. Service was fine. I'll give them another chance if i can,but it may have to be solo because mama didn't like it at all.

Great Food - Great wait staff

By nichpr |

What an innovative menu ! Combination of solid good tasting food that anyone would enjoy and a different blend of ingredients for new and fun ways to see and present food. All the waitstaff we encountered were efficient and professional. Nikki, one of the bartenders, was fun, efficient and very helpful. Great place.

Excellence From Beginning to End

By NorthPoleCandy |

We found this restaurant through Yelp and were glad that we followed through and went to dinner there tonight. Four of us enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. Our server was very helpful with an overall description of the restaurant concept and knowledge of each menu item. He was on top of things and checked in wth us throughout the meal. The food was excellent. We shared two appetizers from Ponderings (only $7 each). The first was the Guacamole Tower: a nice presentation of guac with compatible veggies (delicious) and Shiner Pretzels (small soft pretzels with a traditional cheese dip. Again it was delicious, but wished we had a little more pretzel to finish the dip. For dinner we had 4 very different entrees: frog legs (8 in total), a tomato and cheese flat bread, the steak (done a perfect medium rare), and the Charcuterie (from the appetizer menu). Everyone loved what they ordered - all were prepared well. The Charcuterie could have been presented better and had one cheese that was completely uninteresting, but had a large selection of items from cheese to jam to olives and nuts to salami; I couldn't finish it all. We ordered two desserts: Red Headed Step Child and Easy Like Sundae Morning. Both an original concept and both very good. Service, food, presentation, atmosphere, all very good!

Very good considering we stumbled on this place

By Andrew Rodney |

Near our Hotel, we didn't have time to research via Tripadvisor but gave it a shot. The Tempura Green Beans where outstanding! Best option we ordered. I could be happy just eating this great app. For a main, I had the pork chop. It was cooked exactly as ordered (med rare) was super juicy and tastily. A tiny bit tough which I can't really fault the chef on; that happens. Both sides (yams and corn) were unusual and very good! My wife had the Redfish and enjoyed it. The service was excellent.

Goes above and beyond

By enur1979 |

Came for dinner and expected ordinary pub food, but was very surprised when it turned out to be food on a level that is found in higher class restaurants. The interior is brown and pleasantly dark, which combined with the 70s music and the smell of the wood fire from the kitchen, made for a great overall dining experience. As a bonus, it's incredible affordable too, both beverages and the food.

Culinary Mouth Explosion

By Amoreu03 |

This was our first time visit to Foxhole and it will not be our last. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy with dim lighting to add to the ambiance of the restaurant. Everything from the appetizers to our entree was amazing. The service was great also. My husband's Seared Ahi Tuna Steak Sandwich with homemade chips and my Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Grits were over-the-top flavorful! Additionally, I recommend the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Deviled Eggs, you will not be disappointed.

Dinner

By neekieluv |

Awesome service, ambience and great food. The drinks were amazing as well. I would definitely recommend this jewel to anyone in the area visiting. I had the cornmeal catfish, radish coleslaw and parmesan fries and my hubs had the texas redfish, asparagus and red beans and rice...delish. The portion is huge and you will not finish, but we took a pineapple upside down cake with us...pure heaven!

fresh, creative menu.

By 1jojo |

Foxhole has a creative menu, with a really nice selection of choices. The weekend Brunch is really good, and prices are fair. Highly recommend!

Wonderfully delicious!

By Meachelle |

This restaurant was so good we ate here twice in one week. You can't go wrong with this place. The food is delicious, the staff is wonderful, and they are happy to accommodate dietary needs. SO yummy!

Terrible for Sunday Lunch

By Birdinhandtwo |

Only the brunch menu is available Sunday until 3 pm, and the offerings are disappointing: Almost everything comes with eggs, and most dishes are laced with jalapeños, habaneros, or some combination thereof. Our waitress was slow and unhelpful. The interior was dark, damp, and cold. We will not be back for Sunday lunch again

Skip after 7:00 pm

By TC Patron |

If you want to stop for a light dinner (flatbread, burger) after work this place should be just fine. If you are looking for a great meal and service while dining with friends, skip it. A group Of four, 3 ordered chicken fried venison, "I'm sorry we only have enough for 2" at 6:45. One altered to fried green tomatoes and they were edible but not great. I ordered the redfish. The redfish is flash fried and was good, but it is served over a bed of dirty rice, beans, sausage, and fennel that overpowers the dish. This is not a gastro pub. The food overall was a disappointment, but they have a "social" hour menu before 7:00 that would suffice for light appetites. In a day and city of great cocktails, the margarita was straight up mix and bar stock. Better pass on that too.

Great for Dinner and Brunch

By plan0mmm |

We recently stopped in for a late dinner and were very impressed with the menu, food, and service. The menu offers a variety of excellent selections and it was difficult for us to narrow our choices down as everything looked good. We settled on the stuffed grilled quail breast and the chicken fried venison and both were outstanding. Service was prompt and friendly. We had such a great experience we decided to try their brunch the following weekend and were not disappointed! The menu was different but the burgers were excellent as well as the pigs in a pin.....homemade sausage wrapped in puff pastry and drizzled with spicy mustard. Excellent homemade kettle fries accompanied the burger and homemade pickles were included with the sausage. Would highly recommend this spot!

Top notch!

By Cee T |

Great food! Visited three times so far and especially enjoyed the Kobe Burger, the Steak, and the Salmon. Excellent drinks. & Friendly Wait Staff.

Fantastic!

By Amanda H |

I have visited this restaurant a few times. The most recent was with a group of friends. We had great service and phenomenal food. The atmosphere was fun and the vibe was on point. Definitely recommend!

Wide variety of food/prices hamburgers to fine steaks

By TLBview |

We had a business dinner here. Some had burgers, redfish (probably the best dish) and ribeyes/Filet (higher price point) The service was great. I had the small filet and it was amazing! But the Brussels sprouts appetizer (although I normally don’t eat them) were awesome!

Surprisingly good "suburban" bistro

By missyrobbins |

Foxhole offers gourmet food and wine and is located very near Lakeline Mall...Not downntown where you would expect that level of food. The decor is modern but intimate, they offer live music on weekends and a good wine list. I loved the cheese and charcuterie plate we had as an appetizer and the nicely seasoned and fresh Texas Red Fish main course. Definitely a place to try if you are out in that neighborhood.

Cool and trendy atmosphere in the Cedar Park area

By Austinite36 |

The Foxhole took over an old vacant building and completely rehabbed it into a modern and hip establishment. Although it's on the side of a highway, the interior feels intimate and welcoming. It definitely has a downtown-cool vibe. This would be an excellent date night place if you didn't feel like going all the way to town. Everything on the menu looks amazing - they describe it as being Texas-inspired American cuisine. I had the grilled Cesar salad and it was delicious. The service was excellent - our waitress was the ninja sort who made sure all our needs were met without any intrusiveness. My one issue was that I felt the prices were just a tad on the high side for certain items. Most plates started at the $10 mark even for lunch. I usually expect lunch menus to offer a few more moderately priced choices - but maybe that is coming later. Overall, I loved it. I am so glad they are in the neighborhood and I can't wait to return without my kids for happy hour!

A cut above--find your way here!

By Itinerant_Foodies |

All pluses at this restaurant. Excellent service, good selection of draft beers, creative specialty cocktails, great and interesting food. Some dishes can have some spicy heat so be sure to ask about them if you're not a fan of hot food. The venison stew, mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts are all great.

Food is amazing

By Lindsey S |

Such a great restaurant! Food is absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back. Our server was the best. I cannot wait to go back.

Awesome Brussel Sprouts

By Betsi B |

I would go back here just for the brussel sprouts! We shared lots of different appetizers and small plates and a tie with the Okra served with an outrageously great Chile sauce. We had to send back the overly Spicey venison chili. Watch out for that. Server Jeremy was great even though super busy. Loved the Artisan cheese board too

Very Average

By Mark T |

Wife and I went on a week night. Happy Hour Bar Crowd was prevalent. This was an existing location that was completely gutted and redone in a "modern style" - stained and sealed concrete floors and sparse furniture. Frankly, my first impression with all the TVs was this was a Sports Bar trying to masquerade as a high-end food joint. The dinner menu is limited. I had the Kobe Burger. It was done to my satisfaction but the Slap fries had too much flavoring. And the burger, for all the build up was just a burger for $14. Wife had the Crab Cake "small plate" with a Seafood Salad. She said the Crab cake was good but the Salad was mediocre for $18. Ouch. The total bill (with no alcohol) for an average dinner was well over $50. Too little for too much. At least for that money I expected a warmer ambiance than a concrete floor, sparse furniture, and TVs.

What a nice surprise inside....

By John A |

From the outside its an unassuming building on the frontage road of a major highway. Inside its nice. The floors are concrete but nice and clean. There are various seating areas so if you want to be away from bar buzz, there's plenty of tables. A selection of high top, booths and regular tables and a long bar seating area. They have live music too but never got to hear what that was about. The menu was interesting. The kitchen is there behind a glass wall and the dishes are all made fresh. We had crispy Brussels and knife and fork onion rings both of which were of course large portions. So we did not get to sample the entrees. But it was all very good, fresh and tasty Something very noticeable was that it was an older crowd with no shouting and screaming or families. I like that Will be back there soon.. Give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised with this locally owned and run business

Nice Find

By mike s |

A coworker recommended this place to me. Very nice atmosphere and outdoor seating available. We were greeted immediately and seated right away. Server was pleasant and knowledgeable. I started with Crispy Brussel sprouts that had beets and candied pecans drizzled with a balsamic sauce. Very good. Main course I went with the Texas Redfish over dirty rice. They hit a home run with this one. My coworker had the Pan Fried Venison which we thought was just ok. He also had the Pork Belly Street Tacos as an appetizer and they were great. The next time I'm in the area I would without a doubt go back.

Local and reliable

By Bryce D |

Great date night location. The drinks were perfectly mixed and the food options were very wide ranging. My wife and I shared the meatballs app and the salmon dinner plate, would get both again.

Superb evening!

By funjob5 |

Just the name alone had us intrigued, but a quick pitch by our waiter, Dillon, regarding their in house, fresh, farm to table prep, told us we had made a good choice. And it did not disappoint! The pork belly crispness perfectly complimented the roasted peppers along with the cashews. Then onto the grilled Cesar, made more colorful and tasty with the grilled corn & peppers. And then the star; the filet arrived cooked to perfection, crisp on the edges but pink all the way through. Yummy! And the presentation with potatoes and angular placed asparagus fed the eyes before it reached our palate. We recommend highly!

Repeated good experiences at Foxhole

By PackLightTravelHeavy |

We've done several team dinners here with work colleagues, and they've all been very well-supported. The food is very good, the beer list is great, and service is nice. Never had an issue and I keep going back - you should give it a shot.

Best Steak Sandwich Ever!!

By Gregory L |

Our waiter recommended the steak sandwich and it was a Wood-Fired Steak Sandwich with grilled tomato / wild arugula / tobacco onion / provolone /atomic horseradish aioli / herb focaccia. I had the aioli on the side as I prefer putting a small amount of aioli on as not to overshadow the other ingredients. All 3 of us ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection and was delightful as were there chips. Be advised the sandwich is enormous!

Yummy! I'll be back

By Lydia U |

A great place for gourmet food with great service and a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be dining here more often!

Excellent Lunch

By Edward A |

We've been here twice for lunch, most recently last Friday. The food is very tasty, ample portions and fairly priced. It was not very crowded, but I could envision it would be noisy if it was full. The drinks are well-made and fairly priced. We will return.

Very Very Good!

By Gary G |

Outstanding food and service! The stuffed quail is the best I've ever had. We tried all of the mini plates and hey we're all very very good. Wine list is good and reasonably priced. Solomon was our waiter and was outstanding as well. Great meal.

Wonderful menu, staff and atmosphere! 💕

By jenrob677 |

We’ve been coming to this wonderful place for a couple of years now and it is one of our favorite spots, they have always gone above and beyond, have treated us like family, and we’ve always had stellar food. They just introduced their new fall/winter menu and I can’t say enough good things about the selections and the quality of food. It is a treat to come here and I would highly encourage others to come enjoy the experience here! The staff is generous and kind and the food is absolutely wonderful, especially the combinations of the different ingredients which are unique and extremely thoughtful.

Interesting brunch menu

By Two Wilsons |

I had the Biscuits and wild bore gravy. Very good, but I would have them put the pico on the side next time. Our friends omelette was ordered with no ham, and had to be redone do to having ham anyway . My husband had the carnivore omelette; he enjoyed the strips of bacon and the peppery heat. The Bloody Mary's were ok, but a but a bit hot for me. We would most likely go back because our friend relly enjoys this place. We were sorry our waiter couldn't tall us more about the new menu, and having to return an entree is NEVER good.

Elevated pub food

By T. F. |

Not your typical tavern. The menu features high end top quality food. Ask for the Autumn Harvest, a mule with a floral twist.

Great food...Nice atmosphere...Good service

By Janet C |

We had Sunday brunch and were very pleased! The menu choices are excellent and they have something for everyone. I had the Southwestern Salmon Cobb Salad and it was wonderful. The other 3 members of our group had breakfast related meals and they were happy with their choices. The live music was a nice touch.

Very nice Resturant with great food and drinks!

By Michael W |

I had seen Foxhole and wanted to see what it was alll about. I stopped in just for an appitizer and a drink. The interior is very nice 5 star for sure. I went to the bar and found out they had Old Fashions, it is had to find those in Texas. It did not disappoint! I also ordered the baby ball onions. it came with two sauces and was fantastic. The menu looked very good. It is more on the high end prices wise but I am sure it is worth it. The staff was very helpfull and freindly. I will be back!

Should have been better

By JustLurking |

Had a late dinner after my granddaughter's ballet recital. Six of us total arriving in different vehicles, so timing was a little weird. Ordered beers and some steak fries and focaccia to munch on while we waited for everyone to arrive. Beers were fine but the steak fries were extraordinarily greasy and the focaccia with asiago cheese were basically burnt. Once everyone was in place the main orders came in a timely manner. I had the venison meatloaf and found it much too salty for my taste. My wife had calamari and thought them very greasy. I did not sample from the other orders at our table, so I cannot comment on them, but both my wife and I were sick to our stomachs for the next couple of days, tasting our entrees over and over again. Of course, our illness could have been the result of something else but we will not be returning here to test our luck.

Very nice spot

By wick1979 |

Picked it off the reviews and the proximity to our hotel and it was a nice surprise. Very nice cocktails and wine selection. Everyone enjoyed there meal, the portions were on the large side. We had the burger, red fish and the lamb shank. All of it was nicely done. I would definitely eat here again.

Outstanding dining and superior service by Brittany

By Carlton H |

Had dinner at Fox Hole last night. It was definitely 5 Star. Looking forward to next trip to Austin so we can eat there again.

A Stylish Foxhole for sure

By Forrest L |

Interesting venue with a broad ranging menu— Burgers to pricey steaks/prime rib. Excellent choices for apps and the full bar offers strong drinks and solid beer list. Found the Wild Tomato Flatbread to be large enough to share if you split an app as well. Service is very good if a bit spotty at times but more than satisfactory. An good surprise for first time visitors to Cedar Park, TX.

Great food, variety of beers!

By Brenda W |

I have lunch there a couple of times, and love the food! Their "slap potatoes" are delicious!! Nice variety to their lunch menus and the staff is very attentive. Every time I have been there the manager comes by the table to see if everything was OK.

Saturday Lunch

By Techxn |

My wife and I stopped in the newly opened Foxhole. Nice upscale decor. We had calamari appitizer and split the BLT sandwich. Calamari was ok, but not great. Sauce was pretty spicy. BLT was best part of the lunch, but was accompanied by fresh potato chips that were sweet, must have been sprinkled with sugar.....not exactly what we expected. Maybe it grows on you.....

The location is nice.

By almuerz0 |

The food is decent. The atmosphere is pretty cool. The appetizer portion for a crab cake is disappointing. The price that you will pay only allows for one crab cake. For the quality of the crab cake, I do not feel that the price is justified. For the male patrons, make sure you have some sort of lighting source when you go to the bathroom. The dark wall paint and lack of lighting combined with existing limited poor lighting makes it very difficult to see/navigate. I would really like to give them 4 stars but they are not there yet, imo. If they would demonstrate as much quality/concern on the restaurant, safety and security of the patrons, and overall service as they do on their food selection and food presentation, they would easily be in the 4-5 star category. I do plan to revisit and give their service, food and overall feel another chance. It will be a while though.

Must Try

By MollyandDoug |

We tried out the Foxhole Tavern to celebrate our anniversary and were very impressed! It was nice to find the Austin-feel without having to make the trek downtown. Great wine selection and excellent menu offerings. This is a nice place for a date night, happy hour, or gathering with friends. Highly recommend! And save room for dessert.

Great fun atmosphere

By Lorin S |

This is a great farm to table dining with an interesting and diverse menu. Great drinks and a fun atmosphere. Casual laid back vibe.

Taste treat

By creloans |

Foxhole Culinary Tavern was a great find for far Northwest Austin and near Cedar Park. The Crisped Brussel Sprouts appetizer will leave you wanting more - quite tasty. Our main course included Texas Blue Cornmeal Catfish, Seared Ahi Tuna and Crisp S&P Rock Shrimp - all unique in their presentation and delicious. Topped off by "And Then There Was Chocolate"! Just off Research/183 freeway near Lakeline Mall. Great brews and live music ... hopefully this becomes a staple for this part of Austin.

Foxhole Culinary Tavern for Lunch or Dinner

Friday for lunch was a great way to start the weekend. The food was fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere and service exceeded expectations. The have Live Music at night and a great outdoor patio. Highly recommend the spot.

Intersing and Quirky Setting for Great Food

By Bill B |

Part subtle Sports Bar, part restaurant. We ate in the sports bar. Wonderful waitress, awesome menu that featured diverse and intriguing selections. I say 4 dishes I wanted to try at the same time! My short ribs were tender, flavorful and served with unusual sides. My son and daughter-in - law had oysters that were fresh, large and they loved them. By all means try this non standard treasure!

Poor service

By BunnietheBrewer |

We went in late afternoon. Sat us behind a wall, and forgot we were there. Food was decent, but not good enough to make up for service.

Excellent restaurant for a special occasion

By ellendavis |

We selected this restaurant for our anniversary after reading about it in the Austin Business Journal. We were not disappointed. It is a "Farm to Table" restaurant that has a variety of excellent dishes and a good selection of wines. I had a seafood salad that was delicious and very original.

Great service, good food and drinks!

By krinkrinkle |

We went for happy hour and ended up splitting an entree instead. The sangria was very good and my husband enjoyed his pecan lager. The Parmesan crusted fish was very tasty and since we weren't starving it was good to split.

Beyond Our Expectations!

By bohste |

We dined here with a large group of friends and walking into Foxhole it reminded me of taverns in times long past. It was eclectic & dark with a really cool vibe. They have a varied menu of really unique items from full dinners, to flatbreads, sandwiches, salads, etc. I ordered the Pork Belly Bahn Mi that came with homemade chips. It was fantastic! It had some many flavors because of the herbs & spices that came on it and the pork belly was done perfectly. Others tried the flatbreads, burgers and even a gluten free flatbread. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Service was terrific, drinks were good and the prices were fair. This place is one I hope everyone would give a try. They change up their menu a couple of times a year, but I sure hope they keep that Pork Belly Bahn Mi!!!

Nice American fusion

By Mary O |

Surprisingly nice restaurant compared to the outside look of the place. Loved the wide variety of choices on the menu. All very fresh and unique. They had a nice live band during Sunday brunch that was just perfect. Not too loud but added a lot of ambience to the place. We enjoyed our meal very much. Will return if we are ever back that way.

Overpriced and average

By 5GMan |

Wow. I know they tout "Farm to table" and they do have an interesting limited menu, but in my three times eating here I fail to be impressed. The last try was venison meatloaf which was so overspiced and over salted that the meat could have been anything. If you're going to make something with venison there should be some indication that it tastes like venison. The service however is great, and they've been around long enough that I will eventually try again and see if I am not underwhelmed.

Great food

By Lorin S |

I love that the menu changes seasonally. Great service and really good drink selection. Relaxed atmosphere with exceptional food.

AWESOME!!!

By GreenLady22 |

You have to try this place. The food is amazing!! Texas Trio is a great appetizer to start with, their homemade chips are delicious. I also had the blackened shrimp tacos...finger licking good! All of the staff I encountered was friendly. Our server was Brittany. Brittany was outstanding she made us feel at home.

Good food but very close

By TheKyleBailey |

I was there for a networking group, and it literally took over an hour to get our food. That is an outlier, so I wouldn't go to the rest of the restaurant on that, just seem like bad management. But the burger was very good

Labor Day

By trishtci |

We stopped in for a shopping break just past noon and were seated right away, and while the menus arrived promptly, that was about all that did. I waited 15 minutes for a beer. We decided to order an appetizer each and then order lunch, one calamari and one tuna tartare. Calamari 10 minutes to the table but tender and the dipping sauce is a remoulade nothing special. Luckily we were sharing the plates because we had completely finished the first before the tuna came out (and this is a raw dish). Based on the time it was taking to get food out of the kitchen we nixed the lunch idea and just finished the tuna which again was just OK. We then waited on the check. And waited and waited. Prices are a little higher than the surrounding pubs/taverns but could easily compete if the service was right on. We may try this again, but it will definetly be after they have ironed out the kinks with the service issues.

Good Choice for Business or Pleasure

By Scottslady |

Went here for a business dinner. It was very good. You can get bottled wine, but not on menu. I had the scallop dish. It was good, but not very large. I think it had only 4 scallops on it. But we passed around so many different appetizers that I left full. I'm told the Old Fashioned is the best in town, but I don't drink them.

What a fabulous hidden gem!

By SiselSandi |

I'd like to suggest a great hole in the wall gem in Austin we found called "Foxhole Culinary Tavern" It looks interesting on the outside, but take my word for it, go inside! Great upscale food and a wonderful atmosphere. We went back three times in four days. The wood fired tenderloin was incredible, the cajun crawfish mac n cheese was delicious, the pigs in a pin were out of this world (first time I've had venison, and I couldn't get enough of it) I could go on and on. They had a small band playing for Brunch and the bar looked like it was nicely stocked. Staff was great, tried some new food to me and thoroughly it all! Will be back next time in Austin!

Oysters!!!

By rrobbinstx |

They have some fantastic oyster and a great wine list. You have to ask for the reserve list to get the good stuff. All of the appetizers are super.

Quiet Atmosphere

By Robert W |

Went to the Foxhole Tavern for the wife's birthday and it was very quiet and quaint. The lighting created a soothing and very romantic mood, and the noise level was not overbearing to where we could hold a good conversation without yelling. Dress causal for this restaurant because the wife and I came in like we were ready for Cinderella's Ball. I had the Kobe Burger which was amazing (my first time eating one) and the steak fries was seasoned perfectly, but the only problem is they only gave me like three fries, and I'm a French Fry fanatic which is why I'm so biased. Our waiter Jeremy was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and he had a great personality.

Too much hat...no cattle!

By jwirth |

Way too costly for what you get. A live band that blows you out of the house for a Sunday brunch. We had to move so we could hear each other......a lot of hype about this place ...failed miserably.

Excellent!

By Amanda H |

Freshly prepared foods done extremely well. I’ve never been disappointed in my visits to Foxhole. I will say that you need to be prepared to wait a bit for you food to be cooked, as it is done to order.

Impressive Menu and Beer Selection

By George A |

Great food and beer. Very good service and they stay open late. The staff is prompt, courteous and polite. This is a great hangout with friends.

Best burger I've had in a long time.

By |

Best burger, from the bun to the beef. Plus all fresh bibb lettuce and more. My husband loves their oysters. And he's very picky about them. We'll be back.

Pricey, but good

By RRHoney |

Pros: Fun atmosphere, eclectic food choices, outstanding scallops and best margarita I've had in a while! Very friendly wait staff! Cons: Loud, expensive, crowded.... Friday night and it was busy. However, we were able to cancel our wait when we found a table near the bar. We started with drinks. Sangria was mediocre. Screwdriver was good. Margarita was outstanding. Onion Ring appetizer was pretty darn good - a bit of spice kicked things up a notch. Dinner was GREAT. The scallops were incredible - best I've ever had. Ever. Unfortunately, the accompanying risotto was cheesy, yet tasty. Spinach side was really good, too. My date's catfish was good...but he is still raving about the scallops. We will definitely try Foxhole again.

Outstanding service but check the menu before you go

By VermontGolfer |

Originally seated outside, we elected to move back inside due to some folks smoking. Our server inside was awesome and rolled with our crew. He didn't leave us unattended much and make the evening that much better. The food was very good but you should take a look at the menu in advance. There are so many options that cover so much ground, you just want to be sure there is something there for your craving that night.

Delicious!

By yorosey |

So I went here to have scallops dinner, upon recommendation of waiter I tried the Texas Redfish dinner as I love trying new fish I have never tried. Super glad I listened. So good. Great meal with nice atmosphere and really good service. I may have to come back here on next visit to Austin.

Delicious

By Sandra P |

We visited the Foxhole Culinary Tavern for an early dinner on Saturday. What a delightful surprise! The service, appetizers and dinner were amazing. We were a party of four and each of us enjoyed dinner immensely.

The boss was happy

By AustinSmoothie |

Stopped in tonight as a new option for my significant other, who shall we classify as a "Finicky Vegetarian". The Curry Rice Pilaf with crispy Eggplant was so good, she's been searching for the recipe since we returned home. My small plate Baby shrimp scampi fritta was amazing. The flavors and crispiness of shrimp was fantastic. The restaurant has been added to the approve eatery list. Well done staff.

Mothers Day - Unimpressed

By UncleRMC |

Had problems getting a reservation at many restaurants with short notice day before Mothers Day. Not at Foxhole. Matter of fact it was not full at 6:30 pm on Mothers Day. Made me nervous since this place is not cheap. $40-50 steaks. Hope it's good. Well the 3 of us decide what we're having and as we prepare to order our waitress tells us that they are out of everything we wanted. Our daughter is a picky eater and wanted the hamburger. But they were out of burgers so instead of a $16 burger I had to get her a $40 steak. Then her med-rare steak comes raw. You know what happens when cut open a steak and then have reheat it. It's not a $40 steak anymore. But worst of all was my honey had to settle for her 2nd choice on Mothers Day. And the meals we did have were ok. Nothing I'd be excited to come back again to have. On a another note, they have 3 specialty Bloody Mary's. We ordered 2 of them. Meh. I'm not a picky person and rarely write bad reviews but this place deserves my honest evaluation. I hope they take note. But we won't know.

Loved the weekend lunch

By JDATX |

Eat the Brussel sprouts. And the tuna salad sandwich is NOT your mom's kind - it's fresh, thin slices of luscious tuna. Can't wait to go back for live music & a cocktail.

Ummmm.....it's a no.

By justiceinaustin |

We were greeted right away. Atmosphere is hip but cold. I hate restaurants that over do tables. Booths please!! Warm and cozy is what people like. We asked the hostess for a regular booth and she said the were for 6+ people and then preceded to seat a two top right after us. The temp was a meat locker so we froze the whole time. Hubs ordered lobster bisque and the grilled Caesar salad. I ordered the grilled cheese. Bisque was bland, grill cheese tasted like a mayo sandwich and was bland...maybe a sharper cheese? I ordered fries.. Didn't get them when I did the were long thick spicy horribleness. Fried pickles were awesome! Hubs liked the Cesar but no chicken on it as requested. Service was weak at best. Server was Anya. She never asked us if we liked our meal and was invisible the whole time. Had to keep flagging her down. Overall... Ugh.
